Today I, 24 female, introduced. my boyfriend, 27 male, to my mother, 45. female, after about 3 years of dating. and I'm already regretting it. >> Oh, this happened like right away. Okay.

>> I met his family last year and it went. amazing. They're all super sweet and I. love spending time with them. I've been. to a few get togethers and then. Thanksgiving and Christmas. My family. doesn't really celebrate either of. those. My siblings and I have different. dads, so they all go with their dad, and. my mom usually works, so I normally. spend the holidays alone, so spending. time with them was really cool. He has. not met a single family member of mine. It wasn't like I was hiding him or. anything. My family is well aware that.

he exists. All of their interactions. have been through me. I'm known for. dating literal demons, and this is my. first long-term boyfriend and my first. partner in years to not be toxic. He. means the world to me, and I love him so. much, and I'm pretty protective of our. relationship. While I think my family. would like him for the most part, I was. always scared of how my mom would react. Me and my mom have a rocky relationship. Sometimes she can be really [ __ ].

mean. She loves to provoke and the vibe. completely depends on how she feels. Sometimes it feels like we are in some. sort of competition that only she knows. about. She has hated all of my partners. and has made me and everyone else very. aware of it. She can be hyperritical. about me and my relationships and always. jokes about how she wants to like him. but can't and how no one will ever be. good enough for her daughter along with.

several other passive aggressive. comments about every little thing that. happens between he and I. However, she's. been super eager to meet my current. boyfriend. >> Okay, >> now on to today. I was invited to go to. a party with my boyfriend's family and. he was picking me up. My mom got home. early from work and I was like, "Maybe a. quick hello to get her off my back for a. while." So, he reluctantly comes to the. door and I tell her he's here. She gets. all excited and I'm like, "Purr, this is.

And then something that's scribbled out, "Sure." And boyfriend says, "I don't.

The veto. means we can cross a person the other. one wants to be there from the list and.

then provide our reason why. My fiance. has vetoed having one of my friends and. I'm disappointed. She was my roommate in. college and she has been with me through. a lot of changes in my life. I consider. her close to me and it hurts that he. doesn't want her at the wedding. We. don't have a bridal party, just a best. man and maid of honor, my fiance's. brother and sister. I don't like my. future sister-in-law. We have very. different opinions on several things. She lives a lifestyle I find.

justified in protecting a mother and her. children from a manipulative liar. So, this next story is coming from our. best friend, Direct Caterpillar 77. [laughter]. It's. >> Direct Caterpillar 77. Okay. >> Yeah, he is on it. The best of the best. He finds it. >> Hey, give it to me. >> It is titled I, 32 male, have been. sleeping with my best friend, 32 female, for 2 weeks, and I think we've been. dating for 10 years and never realized. it.

Wow. Okay. One of those. >> So, me and Sophie have been best friends. since like the first grade. She was my. next door neighbor growing up. We went. to the same college and got jobs in the. same city. And we've been roommates. since we were like 25. So, typing this. up almost feels like we've been in a. couple all along, but I've never really. thought of her sexually since we were. teenagers. She had a boyfriend at like. 17 and they were really in love with. each other and I was good friends with. him. But unfortunately, he passed like a. week after we graduated high school. She.

was obviously a wreck, and I helped her. as much as I could to get through it. And in the process, we pretty much. became inseparable. It's not like one of. us was clinging to the other. It was. completely mutual. We like the same. things, have the same interests, and did. stuff together all the time. When she. was having a hard time sleeping because. of her boyfriend's passing, she asked to. come over because she didn't want to be. alone. And I, of course, was there for. her. Eventually, we graduated college. and decided to get the jobs in the same.

city. And eventually after that, we. decided to move in together as roommates. because we could save a ton of money and. we were always hanging out together. Anyways, now I realize that basically I. think we've been a couple except we just. didn't have sex. Of course, she would. have a guy over sometimes, but it was. never really serious. And same with me. I dated a bit, but never really felt a. connection with any of them. So about 2. weeks ago, we were watching wrestling. like we do every week and she started. softly crying and we were sitting like.

inches from each other on the couch. So. of course I put my arm around her and I. ask her if she's okay and if she needs. to talk. Basically, she's been having a. hard time finding a guy and she's really. upset. She's always been kind of thick, but now she's pretty chubby and says. that attractive guys don't want to sleep. with her anymore. So. >> hey, I I heard about this thing called. shreking, though. So you [laughter]. you always got your.

[laughter]. >> So I'm trying to be supportive and stuff. and I wasn't lying. I've always thought. she was really pretty. So I said that's. not true and that plenty of guys would. love to sleep with her. She's not a. prude or anything and we've always made. crude jokes to each other. And I said. something like, quote, "If we weren't. best friends, I'd have been trying to. [ __ ] you for the past 10 years.". >> If we weren't best friends, h if we just.

weren't, you know, um, >> dang. [laughter]. >> She gave me this look like I had just. flipped a switch on a robot and she was. staring right into my eyes and my brain. is telling me to kiss her. So, I did. We. were making out for probably five. minutes and she had pulled my shirt off. and I had pulled hers off and then I. think, "Oh my god, what am I doing?" So, I stopped and I'm like, "Whoa, we need. to think about this. Are we sure we want. to go down this road?" We talk for like.

2 minutes and we basically decide, hey, we've been friends for 25 years and been. through way worse together and having. sex one time shouldn't be an issue. It. was by far the best sex I ever had. >> There we go. >> And now since that time, we've had sex. at least once every day. Sometimes. >> every day. Ooh. Okay. >> Sometimes two or three times a day.

I told her that since we had. started having sex, I've realized I had. been in love with her for a really long. time and I didn't realize it. And she. started trying to hold back tears and I. got the worst knot in my stomach and I. thought I was literally going to puke. I. told her it's okay if she doesn't feel.

the same. I would always be there for. her as a friend and I would try my best. to not let my feelings get in the way. But now that it's out there, I guess. there isn't any going back. She told me. to stop and she was crying now. >> Okay. >> I stopped and it felt like an eternity. just sitting there. I couldn't even look. her in the face. Then she just kind of. wrapped her arms around me and buried. her face in my chest and was sobbing. I'm just sitting there confused trying.

Finally, she looks up at me and says. she's been waiting for me to say that. since college. and that the reason she was crying with. me on the couch the other week was. because she thought it had been long. enough and if it wasn't going to happen. and that's why she kept trying to put it. off having a talk after we started.

Over the. weekend though, she shared more specific. plans for the wedding, and that's where. things have kind of gone off the rails. >> I want to hear about this wedding. Let's.

see. >> She said she's been seeing a lot of. people on Tik Tok and Instagram showing. how to plan a free wedding. Weddings. where the couple spends 0, aside from. the marriage certificate fee, I guess. Oh, >> at first I thought she meant a city hall. wedding, which would be completely fine, but then she got into the details and. her expectations for the ceremony. >> She's going to try and find someone with. a large outdoor space to use, not.

formally a wedding venue, who will. donate their area in support of love. [laughter]. She is going to have all of her guests. bring a potluck. Very specific. assignments though, and she will have a. friend officiate, a friend do. photography, a friend do the save the. dates and invites, her family do the. flowers, etc. including some harder to. swing, in my opinion, things like.

getting a large tent, decorations, wedding favors, speakers, a band, etc. I'm not sure what her plan is for a. dress. [laughter]. >> Okay. Okay. So, she has a lot. Okay. When I was thinking like, oh, free. wedding without money, I was like, oh, someone's backyard. You got a friend. officiated and it cost like what? $15 to. become a wedding officiator person. Yeah. minister stuff cuz it was like a whole. joke on my tour that I was ordained. minister like oh yeah I have the. certificate and everything like we can. actually make this real and. >> I've I've been joking I want this is. what I want. >> really [laughter]. >> this is what I want guys when we go back. on tour this is what I want. >> yeah officiate a wedding it's fun yeah. so I officiated one wedding on the run. yeah [laughter]. >> oh my gosh yeah no this girl's got a. list and it is extensive. it goes on to say what's more is that. coral and her fianceé really aren't poor.

from what I can tell. She works as an. accountant at a big company and her. fiance does software sales. Plus, his. parents are loaded. It sounds like they. just want to do the free wedding thing. for the sake of it. That would be okay, but she is just shifting all of the. costs onto other people, >> some of whom are probably less well off. She told me that she wants me to make. the cake and then sent me some pictures. for inspiration. The cakes were ridiculously elaborate.

>> We're talking multi-tier fondant, flowers, gold leaf, and one even had a. hand painted watercolor design. >> I'm not a professional baker. I just. like to bake cookies and brownies. sometimes. I told her that those cakes. would probably take me days to make and. they wouldn't come out anywhere near as. good. She kind of just laughed it off. and said, quote, "Oh, it's not about it. being perfect. It's just about everyone. pitching in. It'll be fun." I told her.

that fun or not, what she was describing. was basically her friends and family. subsidizing her wedding with time, money, and labor, and that it was kind. of unfair to expect people to spend so. much on her free wedding. >> Mhm. >> Or else she was expecting everyone to. show up to a lackluster event and just. pretend it was amazing. It's like a. group project that none of us wanted to. do because we already graduated and. moved on from all of that. >> Yeah, I feel that. >> So, we don't need the credit. [laughter]. >> She does graduate a year later than the.

rest of us. I said that if she wants a. free wedding, she should probably just. elope or go to city hall because this. isn't really free. >> It's just free for her. I might have. been a bit more forceful in my wording, but I didn't swear or call her names or. anything like that. She got super quiet. and just looked at me for a minute or so. and then left with another one of our. friends driving her home. Later that. night, I got a text from that friend. saying that I really hurt Coral's.

feelings and that even if the plans were. a bit unrealistic, I should have just. let Coral come to that conclusion on her. own. Coral then messaged me saying, quote, "Sorry, don't worry about the. cake." With no more context. I'm feeling. pretty bad now, >> especially since Coral was so happy and. excited and she never really said. anything to me. Perhaps I should have. just gone along with the cake since she. said she wouldn't be mad if it turned. out badly, but I'm worried that her.

wedding would not have been what she. wanted. And I was also frustrated about. the cake request. >> Am I the [ __ ]. >> I feel that. I feel that. Maybe she. didn't like have high expectations. Maybe she was just like she thought it. was a fun idea for everyone to come. together and like do this group project. But I feel like that would only make. sense in my mind if like my grandparents. were getting remarried and we made it. like a oh let's do a free wedding. everyone come together as a family and. like we built this wedding together. But. >> I can't imagine like a high school.

friend getting married and like. expecting me to do all that for them, you know? That's a whole different no. >> scenario. Well, and going back to her. list, too, like I've got prices for all. this stuff. [laughter] I literally I did. this. I did basically a backyard. wedding, put up my own tent, um hired a. band, did decorations, did all this. stuff, and just like just the band, $4,000 for a band. >> Okay? >> Like, if you want a good band, >> it costs money. Like unless you know a.

band, like you can call your brother and. his friends up and be like, "Hey, will. you perform at the wedding?" Like that's. different. But I guess like should you have said. something? I don't know. You really did [ __ ] in her. Cheerios. >> Yeah, it's kind of I don't think she was. well at delivering her like how hardcore. is her expectations. If the expectations. were delivered better be like, "Oh, you. know, I don't care if it's just a von. cake with a bunch of splatter on it as.

long as you got like what I was, you. know, trying to go." Then maybe she was. like, "Okay, I'll just bake a cake and. do whatever." But I think because she. was sending like severe like serious. hardcore wedding cakes, it probably was. like, "I don't know.". >> Intimidating. >> Yeah. Intimidating. >> I know. Because then like OP does be. like, "Well, what I could do wouldn't be. anything like this." And then Sweet. Coral, bless her heart, says, "No, it. doesn't matter what it looks like. I. rented a park shelter in a very nice. park for $50. My parents brought. basically barbecue. My mother-in-law. built a cupcake tower. I made fake.

flower centerpieces. Bridesmaids picked. their own dresses. Groommen got a. matching tie and wore their own. clothing. Then we had a cabin for people. to hang out in after. My friend. officiated. We did that 2 weeks earlier, but that was it. It is possible to do a. wedding pretty cheaply. It is not. possible to do a fancy wedding for free. >> Yeah, there we go. >> And then a lot of people just go and. share. They're like, I did my wedding. for total under $2,000, which is amazing.

Coral's fiance, who we'll call Basil, Basil, however you want to say it, asking to meet up. I said yes. My.

expectation going into this was that. Basil would tell me how much I hurt. Coral's feelings and I was going to. reiterate my apology and share some. research and planning that I had done on. the cake. That is not how it went, though. >> Ooh. Basil asked me to talk to her, apologize, and tell her that it isn't a. bad idea after all. He basically said.

And I guess actively advocating. for a potential train wreck is a further. line for me than just agreeing to play. my assigned volunt. Moreover, this was my first real. conversation with Basil, and I have to. say, I'm not totally convinced he's a. great person. I don't know if he has.

exactly manipulated her into going along. with this, but it kind of feels that. way. So, what do I do? It's been a. little while now since I talked to. Basil, so I really do need to do. something. But do I do what Basil asked or further. involve myself in the drama by telling. Coral I don't think that the wedding or. entire marriage is a good idea? He doesn't even spend that much. time out on the water.
