The Boldest Move In Traitors History
Hello and welcome to our very first. celebrity traitors reaction episode of. this series. This is the rest is. entertainment and I'm Marina Hyde. Now, if you haven't watched the first two. episodes of the Celebrity Traers, this. is your spoiler alert warning. Do not. proceed. We are discussing both in. today's show. So, after an opening week. of Castle Chaos, here is what we're. going to chat about tonight. Richard E. Grant tried out the boldest but most. bizarre strategy of any traitor in.
history, actually admitting they're a. traitor immediately. But has Britain's. ultimate thespian already received his. curtain call at the round table vote? We. will discuss the biggest decision points. of the game so far from the picking of. the traitors to what I'm hesitantly. calling the midnight strategic [ __ ]. that left Amal Rajan in the dirt. And of. course, looking ahead to who they should. murder next week, Jerry Hall or our. colleague Hannah Fry. Okay, talking. about dangerous decisions, one question.
seems to be on everybody's lips in the. castle. Are actors actually dangerous? Do they make great traitors? I've got. some thoughts on that very special class. of celebrity. And finally, we will look. at both of those tasks. Some incredibly. unusual gameplay and who we think are. the dark horses of the series. Now, Richard, my Richard, is unable to join. me for this first episode, but alongside. me is true traitors royalty. It is. Charlotte B. >> Hello. >> Charlotte was a cast member of series 3,
best remembered for being an incredible. strategic player, making it to the final. five and pretending to have a Welsh. accent when she actually grew up in West. London. Charlotte, how does it feel to. see the castle again on screen? >> Oh my goodness. Thanks for the intro. It's very exciting. We are honored. >> No, I'm honored. One of my favorite. podcasts. Um, it's amazing. I love. seeing the castle on screen again. I. can't believe every time I see it that I. was in it. >> Yeah. >> You know, I see those rooms and I saw.
them because I was on series 3. I saw. them for series 1 and series 2 and then. I got there and was like, "Wow, it's. just like on TV." You know, you step in. and you sit on the sofas and you sit. around the fireplace and yeah, it's. amazing. And I actually loved seeing the. celebrities do the same thing because. you can tell they're massive fans as. well. And I saw I think it was I think. it was Richard actually poking his head. in the kitchen when they first kind of. let loose in the castle on it. It's just. really fun. >> It's going to be difficult to avoid him. for many seconds longer. But I want just. want to say one thing before we go on, which is that the ratings are off the. charts. The last series of Celebrity.
Traers, first series opened with 6.5. million viewers. The first episode of. this series, we don't know the ratings. for tonight opened with 9 million. So, it's already in nearly a 30% uplift and. it's already absolutely massive. >> Let's get into it. The rest is. entertainment is presented by Octopus. Energy. Now, entertainment loves keeping. business in the family. >> Yeah, it's no secret that that's. traditionally been a an easier route. perhaps into show business. It's not.
necessarily the only way to get into the. business. However, there are lots and. lots of examples where it really has. worked for people. The Coppers stretch. out beyond film into music. Nicholas. Cage though changed his surname from. Coppa. He's Francis Forppler's nephew. and he changed his surname just so that. he could, you know, just be Nicholas. Cage. >> But one assumes that in LA they did know. that he was a Coppa. >> He stands alone for me. >> I also think St. Glasgard is an. interesting one because lots of his. children became very very famous and he.
always calls himself a Nepo dad because. as his children got more and more. famous, people started to come to him. more for for roles. That's that's a nice. way around. >> So, entertainment has some remarkable. family machinery, but however useful the. surname isn't always the only way in. >> No, Octopus Energy, for example, didn't. inherit its place in the energy. industry. It's proudly independent. And. one way it does things differently is. having each customer's account looked. after by the same small team of around. 10 energy specialists. They know exactly. who you are. >> I think we're going to have to begin.
immediately with Richard E. Grant. >> Yes. On the first night, he revealed. immediately that he was a traitor when. Joe Lizer asked him. Since then, he has. attempted to cover his tracks. I mean, should we just talk about these traitors. picks? Right. So, they p they picked. two. They picked Maya Jarma, >> who I think is very interesting because. I think she is a big dog. I think a lot. of people in there don't realize Maya is. a big dog. They're too old. But she is. massive. >> She's massive. She's so You can tell.
she's she's poised. She's switched on. Yeah. I think a lot of people might. underestimate her, but also I don't know. because her name has actually already. been sort of fleetingly mentioned. So, we'll see. But I think she's a good. pick. >> She She is a good pick. Richard, their thinking behind this, I am. fascinated to know. First of all, how. can we blame them? They've already got. the TV moment of the year. >> But he said to Claudia, I thought it was. so wonderful. You know, when they had. the little chat, he said, I think she. said, "Describe being a traitor in three. words." And he said, "I am ruthless.".
And I literally said at that moment when. I saw it, I said, "He will be a traitor. He has to be. That kind of energy is. what is what a traitor needs to bring.". >> It's interesting that a lot of people in. the entertainment business would say. that Richard is an unbelievable gossip. He cannot keep a secret. Like anyone. who's ever worked with him, >> the producers Bruce Robinson who. directed with like what? He he cannot. not tell a secret. And also when he was. picked he said my own daughter said I. just can't not say what I think. So in.
retrospect there h there were some red. flags. >> some giveaways that what happened might. have happened. >> Having said that the producers either. way have got because we still don't know. his fate at the end of episode two. So. the producers have got two episodes of. iconic television. >> I mean it's what everyone's talking. about at the moment isn't it? It's like. Richard I just can't imagine. So when he. actually said it in the bar I actually. and I think everyone in the castle and. probably everyone in like the castle. gallery sort of thought what? Like, did. I just hear that right? He's just said.
he's a traitor. Like, that's what like. no one says that. I mean, you saw Joe. Liza literally go. >> If you watch and you study the game, you. know that those first banishments are. basically just like you looked at me in. a funny way. Totally. >> random. You said something completely. random when we were rowing a boat. across. >> I mean, there's 20 of you around 20, isn't there? when you start and like I. know the celebrities probably know of. each other at least if they don't if. they're not necessarily each other's. neighbors or best mates or whatever but.
it's quite easy I found anyway to not. speak to some people in the first couple. of days because there's 20 people you. know and you can't all be having one. conversation so if I'm just in the bar. having a chat with you and I get to know. you quite well and I hang out with you. quite a lot there's loads of people I. don't chat with so then when it comes to. voting you kind of don't feel too bad. about banishing someone you've not yet. built a bond. But he's just sort of put his hand up. and said, "Bananish me if you want.". >> They've got nothing else. As Julie was. saying, if someone says someone tells. you who they are, >> like they'd be foolish not to sort of.
test it. At least. >> he's been trying to cover his tracks. Although I think they're right in that. round table. Someone said, "But you. haven't really. >> explained why it isn't you." It's as. though he just he he knows he's done. this unbelievably ridiculous thing. It's. quite a hole to dig yourself out of. I. think that's when you realize I think. that it wasn't I mean it wasn't play you. know he did sort of forget himself. because I think if it was a strategy he. would have said yeah I'm a traitor for. god's sake of course I'm a faithful I'm.
not going to say I'm a traitor am you. know he would have just immediately but. he really knuckled down I'm a traitor. I'm a traitor and then tried to sort of. later on sort of say oh I was hoping. it'd be an I am Spartacus moment and. other people would join me but you could. tell that was sort of postrationalized. >> yeah. 90% of people in that room are like, "What's Spartacus?". >> Yeah. >> Sorry. So true. >> Hi. I'm I'm 26. I don't know what you're. talking about. >> Relevant example. >> Yeah. He hasn't had much success in. trying to cover it at all. >> But when the spotlight is on you, how.
desperate do people get? >> Oh, very. And well, I think it goes two. ways. I had the spotlight on me actually. in sort of early episodes one and two, and I was a faithful. That's really hard. actually cuz you're desperately trying. to to prove to strangers in my case that. you're innocent. I found and I think. what did help me is I rallied and. thought okay instead of just defending. myself instead of just saying which can. be said I think quite a lot guys it's. not me but you know vote me out and I'll.
stand up there and I'll show you I'm a. faithful because that's not really a. defense. People are like okay I'll vote. you out cuz it's better than voting for. me isn't it? Um I actually came with an. alternative. So I think you've got to. have a defense. So obviously Richard is. a traitor, but he needs I think um if. he's going to defend himself to just. pick someone else. And. >> the thing is you're strategic and. [laughter]. thank you. >> not dealing with clausit here. Speaking. of people who 99% of people don't know. who it is anyway. I I'm not sure what he.
could actually. He made Maya feel like. >> even she's lying to she's lying to. herself even cuz she was facing the. cameras and saying, >> you know, I'm obviously just going to. have to go all out to defend my wingman. And the second she said it, I was like, you are knifing him without any question. at that table and we both know it. >> And she knows it. She has to. I mean, Jerry, I thought was was interesting. because, you know, she said, "Oh, you. know, I live next door to to Richard. We're great friends." Like, maybe he's. just acting out cuz he didn't get the. role. That's quite sweet cuz she's. genuinely sort of thinking, I know him.
I know his personality. But I think, you. know, it's not enough of a defense, is. it? >> We're fellow Richmond boomers and this. is how we behave. I don't know. [laughter] I wasn't. >> When we don't get what we want, we just. pretend we have it anyway. >> So, two enormous decisions are made in. these episodes. >> The first is who the traitors are, Maya. and Richard. We've talked a little bit. about that. I think Maya is a good. choice for a traitor. It's kind of hard. to understand just where we are at the. moment where James has really just. become a tra. We haven't really seen.
them have any interaction together in. the turret and where obviously Mia. liability. is is being iconic. But you know. >> will they be three for much longer? It's. it's very difficult to see if she had a. tight team around her if she would be. more strategic because the next big. decision which was really crucial was. when the producers said to them, "You. need to bring two people in to plead. their case. One will be murdered and the.
other will become a tracer." Now, you. don't have to do what the producers say. in that case. You just think, great, let's get one sacrificial lamb that we. want sent home. >> Exactly. and the one person we know we. want to be a traitor rather than two. people who are mentioning Richard's. name. >> I mean the first thing I thought when. that was said when Claudia said I. thought well it's a no-brainer because. we just seen the mission. >> and Ross's paranoia start didn't we? I. mean Bella put the captain's hat the. sailor's hat on his head and straight. away he's saying was I murdered in plain. sight? Did you just kill? It was. actually quite sweet when he said did.
you just kill me? >> Leanne touched him in the bar and said. oh it's a bit cold. >> and again he's like oh my god don't. touch me. Don't touch me. So, I thought. straight away I was like, well, why. aren't My and Richard going to bring in, for example, Ross? Yeah. Murder him. because then it really plays into his. murder in plain sight sort of story and. then maybe keep Bella or or someone like. that that then could be a fool guy or. keep Leanne or something like that. because he was quite public about that. We were chatting just before this and I. I said, "Oh, they should have brought in. Ross for sure to kill um because of that.
bit of misdirection and Joe to be the. traitor." But then of course Joe had the. shield. >> The shield. Him and Julie had the. shield, which I imagine it wasn't sort. of said in the episode, but I imagine. that meant the traitors couldn't call in. either Joe or Julie. >> No, I imagine it wasn't actually made. entirely clear, but that would have been. the case. >> James A. Caster is I mean it's an. interesting pick because his entire. comedy sticktick and he's extremely. famous for it is I am very neurotic and. socially anxious. But I think also.
really interesting because he came. across as an or was coming across as a. very strong faithful. You know the. little exchange in the bar between him. and Richard in episode one where he. basically sort of said I know it's you. and he and the camera just lingered and. there was no sort of break from that. There was no like cut to laughter. It. was just quite intense and I thought. he's making a really good kind of. detective faithful here. So now that. >> you know he's joined he's joined the. dark side it'll be quite interesting. >> A mole was a waste of time. If they. wanted James as the traitor, then they. should, as I say, we should have had. Ross. I did feel that Mo would go early.
I have to say, in the series, there's. some sort of there's some sort of vibe. to it. I don't know. It's. >> It's so It's so hard because it is, you. know, it's like I think like someone. goes first, but I wonder how he. >> Yeah. how he feels. At least he got an. exciting I always feel like with the. celebrities, you get an exciting first. departure. So, you get two episodes. minimum. >> You And also to not to we we want to. speak a little bit about the show craft. You can tell if someone's getting lots. of screen time in an episode, that. doesn't always mean something great. Mo.
was allowed to play out because they. obviously realized that he was going to. be the first to go. um they you know in. the in when they do the edit I have to. say that the decision that we're left. with now because of that the task which. we're going to have to get to if there. are only two to go who can go who can be. murdered and it's Jerry and Hannah Fry. >> I am afraid you are killing Hannah Fry. no disrespect to the Richmond Massive. >> it's such a shame because actually I. didn't know of her too well before.
watching this series and I yeah I liked. her. >> she's fantastic she's one of our she's. does the rest of science for Goldman, which is absolutely brilliant. Of. course, she's very, very clever and. rightly observed. >> and she's observed Maya and I just. wonder if people pick up on that. If. they get rid of her, we don't know. We. don't know. >> But they must get rid of her because. she's just too clever. >> She just gives a lot of faithful energy. as well. And I think sometimes when. you've got people like that who well, you never know. I mean, she could be. recruited down the line. We never know. But I just think it's it's better to get. rid of people that are so so stoically. faithful. And dare I say, people who are.
just not brilliant detectives. >> No disrespect to you, Jerry, and I'm. loving that you're doing this afternoon. breakdown of the Brit Murdo marriage. I. love this for you. But I think that if. you're a bit dim at the game, the longer. you stay here, the better for everybody. >> It's that classic thing. I know you'll. get there later on the series when. people say, "Why am I still here?" Well, >> it's not so great. Yeah, >> it's cuz you're [laughter] stupid. Sorry. But bless Jerry and I couldn't. have had enough, you know, more time for. her and Robin Romesh being Texan with.
her was a very very enjoyable moment. So. what are our thoughts to just go back to. that decision to go back to this one. that they've got James? They have. entered in an incredibly tense state. >> Yes, it is intense. You can tell there's. more of a pressure in the castle. >> Richard said, my Richard, >> your Richard great not the whole show. My Richard said, [laughter] the cool, calm, and collected Richard said that. everyone sort of says they've gone in. this at this time at the same pitch as.
the last one ended and they were all. very very paranoid that it sort of felt. like everything was higher stage. >> Well, there's been so many series now. and I don't just mean in the UK, you. know, this is a global thing. We have. access to unlimited series of traders at. any point. I think I'm halfway through. the latest US one at the moment as well. It's impossible to keep a hold of. So, everyone is clued up on the tricks of. the trade. I mean, when I went in and. filmed my series, there had just been. this cliffhanger ending in Australia. involving,
>> maybe a minor spoiler, three traitors, and they had a traitor's dilemma and. they ended up with no money at all. And. so, when I went in, lots of us were. asking this question saying, "Can we. just check if that's part of the rules?". You know, >> cuz you've all seen it. >> We've all seen everything and everyone. wants to know. And that's why I think. Ross, it was just so sweet cuz you were. so paranoid. He would be. It's. interesting with someone like James. Acastaster. I I don't feel he is going. to the way he he was playing immediately. after being recruited saying things. like, "I'm just going to stick to facts.
I'm not actually going to lie." As. though that there are forms of words. that can get you around. You can't do. that. >> You can't. I mean, because at some point. he will have to say at the round table, you know, I think it's X, knowing it's. not. >> Yeah. >> You know, he can't. You're going to have. to do someone in. You're going to have. to vote for someone. you're going to. have to plant seeds or carry on rumors. if you're to survive. So, if you're. going to be so kind of straight, I don't. think it really works. >> I can't wait for his standout routine. about it. Can I just say I cannot wait. But I did think that he he was. immediately spinning out saying it's.
like I'm feeling every single emotion. all at once. And I thought he looked. nervous walking around the castle. >> It's really odd though because I know he. was only been a faithful for essentially. a day before being recruited. But when I. was recruited and became a traitor, I. just remained the same. You know, I knew. what it was to be faithful. And he's had. a day of it, maybe a day and a half, I. don't know, and you know, however long. it is in the castle before that. happened. So, you just need to be the. same. You need to overthink it. Just be. the same. Then be a traitor when you're. in the turret. Just be traitor when. you're. >> celebrities overthink a lot of things in.
my experience. Yeah, we are going to go. to an ad break now, but after the break, Charlotte, I want to talk about whether. or not we think actors are dangerous in. this game and who we think are the. players to watch and also a little bit. about the tasks. [music]. This episode is brought to you by. Lloyds. Now, show business loves a club.
>> I love all these sort of unofficial. groupings of people. There's two brat. packs that I'm big fan of. >> There are two brat packs. >> Yeah, there's two brat packs because. there's the movie brat pack. All of the. Jud Nelson, and you know, Rob Low and. Charlie Sheen and all those guys, >> everyone in the Breakfast Club. >> Yeah. And then there's also the brat. pack of those kind of turn of the '9s. novelists, Brett Senellis, Jay Mcernney, Donna Tart. And that's the thing, creatively it's actually very very. useful to hang out with other people who. are incredibly talented because you.
drive each other on to do things because. a lot of the British novelists in the. 80s, Martin, Miss Julian Barnes, Ian. Mchuan, they all used to sort of go and. have lunch and go and have dinner and. you could just tell, you know, they. would talk about stuff and they would. make each other's work much better and. that's the benefit of being in a group. being in a club. It becomes more than. the sum of its parts. Clubs really do. have benefits like Club Lloyds, an. elevated everyday bank account with. exclusive benefits, plus a lifestyle. perk like cinema tickets. >> And you get no fees on debit card. spending and withdrawals abroad. An. exclusive mortgage rate discount,
interest on your balance. >> To join a club worth being in, search. club Lloyds. You must be a UK resident. aged 18 or over to apply. This account. has a £5 monthly fee refunded each month. you pay in £2,000 or more. Welcome back everybody. Now we are going. to talk about actors. There's always. right from the first Civilian series,
there have always been people thinking. that you must hide any acting ability. like even if you've been a corpse in. casualty because people will think. you've got some sort of witchcraft and. ability to play the game brilliantly and. you can conceal things better than. anybody and I in light of everything. we've we've watched in a series where. about eight of them almost half of them. are actors but Richard is an actor. discuss do you know what though that's. such a good point because why in the. civilian series are actors seen as such.
a threat and people that have to be. voted out and in the surf series, like. you said, about half of the contestants. are actors. That's their profession. Um, I think it's so interesting because. actually, >> if anything, I acted my way through our. series of my Welsh accent. >> You did a Welsh accent. I don't think. Michael Sheen is doing the same. Huge, if true. If if Michael Sheen is. pretending to be Welsh, that would be an. incredible episode 6 reveal. >> That would be absolutely huge. No, I. think um I think it's really. interesting. I think I don't know. They. go their whole lives pretending to be.
other people. I guess we know them, at. least, you know, me in the public, I. know these actors from TV or stage or. whatever. And then now we're seeing sort. of the real them and they can't like. they can't they can't act in the castle. It's kind of Yeah, it's crazy. >> And if you know actors and I I know very. very many I and I have total respect for. what they do, but it does require them. to be extremely emotional. >> Yeah. >> To have an incredibly porous barrier. with the outside world because that's.
how they that's how they do it. That's. how they kind of sublimate themselves. into other people. That's how they find. a way of absorbing things that they can. use later. >> I think that they're like almost the. worst at it because they're and and. funny enough, Mahara said. >> actors are terrible liars, which I. thought she's very good. She's one talk. about her in a minute, but she said, "Oh, they're terrible liars." Which I I. completely agree. Um, and I think that. it's after Richard who is obviously the. sort of most senior actor in all of.
this. I Oscar nominated etc. I don't. know. I I think it's interesting though. because some of the actors so you've got. people like Richard. >> but then for example Miranda Hart who I. love so funny you know an actor but also. an amazing comic you know she kind of. has a hybrid I I feel like she could be. really great a really strong asset. because she does you know her whole. Miranda show of all you know it it does. that so kind of that clunky kind of lots. of stairs lots of looks which I think.
could be quite interesting in the castle. >> comedians are good I because the. comedian is a very different skill and I. think. >> that the comics are and and whoever it. was who said oh one of the sort of big. six comics said it would be very very. difficult for us that they're my biggest. threat. They first of all they know each. other very well they know each other. from the circuit but second of all. they're so attuned to little changes in. this and that. So I think that comics. are much more dangerous than actors. >> Yeah. Um, but looking should we go a bit.
more around the table and look at some. of the kind of good players and bad. players? Julie I think could be I've. always thought could be so strong. >> Well, people I think already are. essentially mixing her up with her. character. you know that you know again. this is and it's interesting because. again they might know her or know. certainly of her in in the world in the. industry but I think already she's. giving off this cozy friendly and she's. admitted this you know people again are. underestimating her so I wonder if she. could go quite far people are sort of.
just mixing her up with Haley it is. Haley isn't it the character. >> yeah yeah I think you're right and I. think there's something about Julie that. is she's immediately voted the most sort. of trustworthy there's something about. her. And I was saying to um one of our. producers earlier, >> if you ring a call center cuz your. broadband's not working or something and. you get a voice like that on the phone, you're like, great. >> I know the age of this woman, I can hear. her competence and I know that I'm going. to leave this call and I will have. broadband again.
>> Yeah. >> Um and you get one of the guys in their. 20s, you're like, "Oh my god, I'm going. to have to keep calling back till I get. a woman who sounds like Judy has.". >> So true. And you're going to have to. triple check. You're going to get email. confirmation. >> Yeah. just so many times. She is going. to sort out whatever problem I go to the. call center with. She's got a good. alliance, very strong alliance. potentially with Joe cuz they obviously. like each other. >> Yes. And she gave him the shield. So, it's kind of like he owes her a favor. now down the line. >> He said I don't think it's her and he's. very he's a very strong character unlike. for instance James Auster who obviously. they couldn't recruit him as you say.
because of the shield but he is very. kind of resilient and he was able to. enjoy it all at breakfast. You could see. that he was laughing and having fun. He. is very cool under pressure. I think. >> some people like Julie and Joe that I. think yeah stand out as you know being. faithfuls and strong faithfuls and other. people will definitely not look at I. don't know but it doesn't seem like. they'll look at them very soon but then. there are other faithfuls that sort of. are in the mix that you think they're. not quite getting it through that. they're innocent if you like so clearly.
>> they haven't wor that bit out yet. I. think um Bella is a very strong player. It's interesting people who are neurode. diverse like cat last year. There's. something about a distance and a kind of. constant reading of cues. >> And she's definitely the youngest right. this year. Yeah. 23. Yeah. So I think. she's definitely got youth on her side. as well in the sense that people aren't. going to gang up and pick on her. straight away anyway. >> But very determined and I think could be.
quite a fearsome opponent at the round. table because there's a real clarity. there. Rob and Romesh. That's. >> Oh, I know. >> Tell me what your Tell me what your. thoughts. I mean, it's interesting they. put them in, right? >> I know. And I do. It's funny because I. heard Romesh talking about traitors. I. think it must have been on the one show. or something. And obviously he couldn't. say anything, but he did say it was more. real and allconsuming and intense than. perhaps he had realized. And I remember. watching that thinking like, yeah, like. it's true. It is. You're in it. You're. in the game. And then to do it with a.
best mate. And obviously, I guess it's a. little bit like having those hidden. relationships in the in the civilian. version, like everyone knows they're. tight. So, at some point, even though. they are both faithful at the moment, at. some point, I wonder if people will want. to look to split that romance up. It. will work against them a bit, I reckon, long term. >> I think I think it will. It's very. difficult for it not to. And his thing. about having like resting indifferent. phase, I don't think he will maintain. his indifference. I think he's going to. get it's so hard not to become How.
quickly did you become. >> I know you were so strategic all the way. through and you know bar that se thing I. think you'd gone all the way um but how. quickly did you feel yourself becoming. institutionalized into the hermetically. sealed world. >> honestly it it's like a day for me. anyway uh and because because of the. Welsh accent. >> like I I'm glad you've done a bit of it. a little a little sample for the um I. honestly after the first day which is so.
overwhelming because again the. celebrities won't have this experience. but for for a regular person like me. there's not many situations I can't. think of any situations where you go. somewhere where you know no one you have. no handhold at all you don't know any. friend or any person and you're meeting. 20 new people um and so that's really. quite intimidating and I think myself. I'm quite a confident person you know. I'll sit next to a rand at a wedding and. chat away or actually it's quite. intimidating and everyone's quite. confident so you're kind of like oh gosh.
>> it really makes me think the first day. at boarding school but anyway [laughter]. we'll just get back onto the subject. >> but I think um and because I did the. Welsh accent I did have a slight crisis. I would say after day one thinking what. am I doing like what am I doing of. course I I couldn't come clean you know. if I came clean and was like oh actually. guys you know forget what I was sounding. like yesterday this is me I'd obviously. be better straight away. >> you'd have been acting. >> so [laughter] exactly so I just um so I. just had to get into it and I did and. it's so it's so all consuming. I mean.
>> and do you all talk when the cameras are. not when you're doing chat and it's not. going to be on the television you know. is is everyone just saying I can't. remember what the outside's like anymore. >> to be honest it's funny it's so it's so. heavily monitored you can't really talk. about you know you are just sort of. really light touch chat I think at the. time we were chatting about like what's. our favorite Taylor Swift songs and. stuff like that but at the same time all. of that is um relationship building. >> Yeah. So, if I'm trying to sort of make. sure I've got an alliance with s such. and such and we both really like the. same musical, like that's quite handy.
because they're probably going to want. to keep me in. Um, so yeah, I think it's. it is all consuming. You can't I. certainly couldn't switch off. I mean, it is enjoyable. Don't get me wrong. There are some genuine, but I think. actually a lot of the enjoyment actually. comes sometimes from like the intensity. You know, you're kind of laughing really. hard, you're playing really hard, but. your brain is also in overdrive. So, everything's just like really intense. Every day is filled with adrenaline and. that's not just from like running around. in a mission. It's because you're trying. to survive. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> James Bond couldn't sleep all night and.
he must have just been sort of. mainlining adrenaline. >> I think Miranda is sitting back well and. I think she's been really open about her. feeling about sometimes she feels. overwhelmed things like this. So I think. you might have had a preconceived view. that she might find it particularly. difficult but instead she has I think. she's played it really really well. I. did. I have to laugh when she got out of. the um the grave and there was mud in an. absolute Hitler mustache. I have to just. please. That's that's. >> what I love is like they put those shots. in because it's great. It's like it's.
fantastic. >> I think Joe is an amazing booking cuz he. is you need somebody who will not. actually go to pieces and somebody who. says exactly what they think, but I. think he is a sort of like a real full. spectrum player. >> I just love and actually you just you. mentioned him. I couldn't believe James. Blunt is 53. I thought like you're. beautiful came out when I was like 15 at. school. Came out on a PGL holiday. I. mean, it literally did. I didn't realize. that. I think he's so great. I just love. the medley of players that they've got.
this series. >> I am looking forward to see how he plays. out. >> Yeah, we haven't got forever, but I. would love to talk about the graveyard. task. I'm just going to just say what I. feel about the graveyard task to be. perfectly honest because we are above. all Charlotte more than anything else. These celebrities are here to help. people less fortunate than them because. this show is all about charity. Sure. Okay. The fact that they finished the. graveyard task with half the money left. in the ground. Okay. What? And they. rescued everyone. So there's now just a. The only reason there's a a short list. of two to be murdered is because Jerry.
couldn't really deal with the sort of. claustrophobia of it or whatever and. said Haggus. And so it's her and Hannah. Ross Kemp was about as non-strategic as. you can get. He was he's like a he was. like sort of thinking I I'll bring the. harvest in myself and sort of dug. everybody up and got everyone else to. dig everyone up. You know he said to the. camera I'm loving the missions baby. It's like yeah that's not what you're it. is so non-strategic. You should have. everyone sort and but all the others. >> just came into the Kemp slipstream and. did what he said. No one said hang on a. second should we not get the money and.
then if there's a list of six people to. be murdered that's bad but it's not the. worst thing. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> It's not the worst thing in the world. >> Well it's better isn't it? I mean this. is the I mean this is the whole tussle. It's like obviously you don't want to be. on that list of six but it's better to. be on a list of six and a list of two. >> Yeah. And if he. >> and then you get more money as well. >> and if he and the others by the way. because although he was the leader of it. everyone else fell in behind him without. any discussion whatsoever which is a. failing of all of theirs. No none of. them said hang on a second Hannah might. be quite useful. I'm not sure Hannah's. you know she might be particularly. useful. Should we try and widen this.
murder list a little bit? But it's now. left with this incredibly binary choice. Do you keep someone who's not a threat. or someone who is? So, also, as I just. keep saying, you are on the show above. all to make money for charity. >> Well, yeah. >> So, um I found that kind of kind of. interesting. Now, perhaps we should end. like they did on their cliffhanger. They've ended on a cliffhanger. That is. unusual, right? In the UK version of the. show. >> Yeah. So, we don't get to see who's. banished, which is, you know, frustrating. We normally always do the.
US of course because that's just how. they have to give you a cliffhanger even. between every commercial break. They've. always sort of done a cliffhanger on the. after the round table. But with the UK. one. >> it's sort of been much more fanervice. You find out who it is in this moment of. incredible kthosis. Then they go back to. the bar and they find the producers. always find some other way Exactly. >> of kind of putting another carrot of. what's going to happen next week. I mean. we're all going to tune in anyway but. >> we are all going to tune in anyway. So, we know that next week's episode will. start with seeing those votes, seeing.
the banishment, which I imagine has to. be Richard. I. >> I can't I it can't be surely. >> But then he because he's so fantastic, you know, I hate to see that lens, but. is it because that's giving him three. episodes, two and a half episodes if you. like. He's getting this glorious exit. He's given us he's given us the. introduction to this new series which it. needed. It's been very fun. But. ultimately, >> you know, >> so he's a sort of got, you know, >> yeah, he's got a lovely arc. >> Two and a half episodes. Yeah. A bit. like in the last season of Succession.
when, you know, Brian Cox has to go goes. in about halfway through. It It's a bit. It's a big character and you have to. give it the give it that moment, you. know. Um, yeah. So, in terms of screen. time, we saw that Amole got a lot and. therefore we might have assumed that he. was together. I thought Hannah got a lot. of screen time. >> Well, that's interesting actually. because Oh, yeah. We don't know if it'll. be Hannah or Jerry, but it come. >> strategically it would make sense to be. Hannah, but then we don't know how. strategic these are. But then it's. interesting because if Richard is.
banished, Yeah. >> it will be down to Maya and James to. murder, won't it? So, >> yeah. So, it's whether they make that. decision. >> I feel that they're going to I I can't. think that they're not going to choose. to murder Hannah. >> Yeah. Also though, at two, I think you. get the opportunity to seduce. >> Yes. So, I don't know if then a murder. gets fought. We'll have to see. It's all. very exciting, but I don't know if they. have to do the murder or if they'll get. >> Yeah, that's Will they have to do the. murder? >> We'll have to see because that could be. that could be what happens and then no. one gets murdered. But I also feel again.
from being in the castle and they'll. have been there a couple of days by now. They've done what, two missions now. >> You want to see some murders. You want. to see those numbers whittling down. You. sometimes when Claudia announces, "Guys, amazing news. There'll be no murders. tonight." Even as a faithful, I was. like, "No, I want a murder." Like I. don't want to be murdered, but I want. the numbers to be whittling down because. only that way can we get to the end. We. can't get to the end with 20. >> I mean, it will be a truly absurdest. pageant if no one gets murdered. [laughter] because of recruiting. >> Just keep recruiting. Keep seducing.
>> Yeah. I I I don't think that will I. think that can't possibly happen. >> No, it won't. But I do think I think. they'll need it. Well, well, actually, I. lie. We've obviously had a mole being. murdered, so we have had we have had a. mighty fall. But yeah, it'll be. interesting to see if they get an option. to seduce or if they just have to do. Hannah versus Jerry. >> Well, on that particular cliffhanger, I. think we must conclude our first. reaction episode. Charlotte, the joy of. having you on this has been so much for. me. You know, I respected you as a. player beyond. I think you're amazing.
You are more strategic than anyone I've. seen so far on this show. So far. So. far. So far. They There's everything to. play for. Charlotte, thank you so much. for coming on. >> Thank you. Honestly, I've loved it. >> So fun. And we will see you next time.
