you just heard a little pre-show prep. there from Anthony to Gilly oh trying to. figure out these incredible stats and. analytics on this weekend spreads from. our friends at fan tool the NFL spreads. are massive in a couple games parity in. the NFL has always been something that's. been paramount and talked about on a. regular basis it's any given Sunday but. this upcoming Sunday it appears as if. everybody on earth knows that ain't no. shot for the Jets in ain't no shot for.

the Dolphins we'll talk about that we'll. also answer some questions from the. Twitter using hashtag Pat Mac if you. show live get involved in the show we. want you on the program we'll talk about. that there's a couple football games on. this evening Thursday Night Football on. ESPN University of Houston Cougs have. traveled to New Orleans to take on a. Tulane Green Wave also another football. game on tonight. the Titans traveled down to Jacksonville. to take on the Jaguars and the Jaguars. might be the home of Thursday Night.

Football for the NFL by the way I played. in no less than 45 games down there on. Thursday nights that place is going to. be rockin potentially in Schad Khan's. pool paradise let me tell you why I. think the Jaguars are gonna win tonight. white people speaking of white people. gambling on sports is a big time thing. that's about to take over the world this. weekend there is a stat that these two. games of 20-plus point spreads are what. dig you were reading it as only only one. other time in NFL history has there been. a weekend where there's been two games. of 20-plus points Brett's 20-plus points. obviously it's three scores the NFL. prides itself on parity and I think.

there's some stat like 80% of games or. 90% of games come down to one score. games all these conversations that. revolve around the NFL being a great. league is because of how close any given. Sunday could be hmm the Dolphins are. taken on a team that is not good at. football the Jets are on their fifth. quarterback the Jets as head coach have. no idea what's going on Lev Bell is I. guess he was not happy after the game.

for good reason he said both he and the. Steelers are in a better position I'd. argue that's not accurate I'd argue that. is not accurate the Browns drummed the. Jets on Monday Night Football and the. Jets by the way have no identity they. try to run the ball with levy on bail he. gets nothing they try to screen the. bottle levy on bail he gets nothing his. levy on bail making business decisions. and not risking it all no risk it no. biscuit with the way he plays football. is he not. hanging on as long as he used to because.

he knows that there's nothing on the. line anymore I don't know that's a. question to be had and would you blame. Le'Veon Bell if that was the case who. knows one as a Pittsburgh fan I'll admit. it I miss Lavvy on bail. I don't miss the other guy I miss. and went all the way cross field. probably picked up 11 12 yards and that. showed me like that Le'Veon is gonna. play hard the entire game it doesn't. seem like he's gonna give up oh good for. levian but this upcoming weekend I think. the Patriots cover with no problem at. all I think what they are on a mission. to do this year is just bury people Tom. Brady just opened a TB 12. whatchamacallit Performance Center I. don't know what they're calling a. standard format center a performance. center in Boston I guess it's a second.

one red carpet. big time operation but Tom Brady I think. if you see the way he operates on social. media I think if you see the way he. handles himself on a football field he. is nowhere near done and he is. completely ok letting everybody know. that that's why I think they potentially. score 100 points this week so 11 times. the spreads been 20 plus in the history. of the NFL 2 & 9 are the favorites. covering but I think you'd have to be an. idiot to take either the Jets or the. Dolphins oh let's just look very risk. let's move to the Dolphins that Prescott.

still trying to get a massive contract. we already know we've talked about this. yesterday we talked about this before. Jerry Jones is waiting to negotiate with. that Prescott until he has a bad game. they the contract talks have been. delayed because no crap that has been. hot. there's no way Jerry's gonna negotiate. with them and whenever dak sees this. dolphins football team dead fish out of. water basically these dolphins you see. what I did yeah.

and who knows attempting to win or not. players definitely were I got a chance. to play quarterback and we had a chance. to play the New Orleans Saints down in. New Orleans primetime television I. believe it was October 23rd 2011 it is I. have the game pulled up so that we can. practice I was running to scout team. quarterback against our Skelly defense. which is this a linebackers in secondary. no D line no offensive line so I could. sit back there all day no worries no. hurries no worries about Monday they.

instituted it Wednesday was first. practice and the Saints had this play. where all I had to do was look to the. left and then the scene was wide open. and Wednesday Thursday and Friday we ran. these practices and I might have thrown. and this is no understand I might have. thrown for 4,000 yards going into that. game against the New Orleans Saints they. at Drew Brees Jimmy Graham that was back. whenever they were humming humming.

humming I knew there was a chance we. were gonna lose by no less than 75. points and going on to the plane I was. even like talking to Vinatieri I was. like bro did you see what I did during. practice did you see what I was able to. do against this defense we ran a Tampa -. so the seams are just wide open and they. just so happened to have the seam on. lockdown that year. I told if anyone got on playing I'm like. Vinny this is not good we all saw what I. did let's assume that Drew Brees would. play quarterback in high school college.

and in the NFL is gonna do a little bit. better than me let's assume that my. success is nothing in comparison to what. Drew Brees will be able to do lo and. behold we lost 62 - 760 271 nothing. after the first quarter 62. and that was the only time in my life I. walked into a game where I was just like. well we're about to get blood game set. match I wonder if the Dolphins are.

starting to feel that way I wonder if. there's anybody on the Dolphins seems. it's just like ah there's a quarterback. that wants to get rich he hasn't really. been paid yet and now he's got to play. against us what everybody knows we stink. we just got rid of our best DB I got. Amari Cooper out there who's rich but. not that wealthy yet and Zeke hasn't had. a big game we are screwed I wonder if. there's anybody going in the game like. that because jump dude we talked to Joe. Thomas could play for the Browns forever. losing season after losing season he. said every year going into the season he. thought they were gonna want a Super. Bowl he said you just find a way inside.

of you to buy in to think you're gonna. win that Saints game was the first time. I was ever like well we're about to get. stopped by the Saints and we did and. I'll say this about the Superdome they. enjoyed it I mean that was a rhombic. atmosphere it was loud it was exciting. and I wonder if I wonder if the Jets or. dolphins or any players like that are. starting to feel that way because that's. a terrible feeling to have going into a. game by the way especially as a punter I.

mean every game I wanted to I knew I was. gonna win it or I could lose it but I. knew I wasn't gonna win it if we were. down by a bunch there was nothing there. was nothing I could do but that game in. particular I was like nothing I do. matters man drew win32 of 35 for 325 and. five touchdowns that's what I'm saying I. might have had the same numbers on. Thursday we're good to some Twitter. questions on the other side of the break. not a bad start here on this Thursday.

19th 2019 the first break we got a. chance to chat about how large the. spreads are and how I had a chance to. know that we were gonna get blasted in. the face by the Saints on October 23rd. 2011 I just went to the bathroom almost. didn't make it back in time but here we. are. apparently I mean let's hope the camera. adds 40 to 50 pounds by the way I look. like I'm 650 right now it is a bad deal.

I need to figure out how I'm not gonna. become Rex Ryan or Rob Ryan this. upcoming fall schedule one much worse. than the other it's Rex actually looks. good but hey Rob. have you seen pictures of Rob lately but. you know I always used to judge these. people that just became massive. individuals but this trip on the road. like what are we supposed to do last. night late night I was tired I looked at. the room-service menu I got a crab cake. po-boy had to do it got a bacon.

cheeseburger had to do it and then I saw. a Supra chocolate chip cookie Sunday had. to do it had to do it what else am I. supposed to do I'm alone I I ditched. your dinner we do know we typically try. to go out and go out to dinner on. Wednesday night yep and I've got like. three more games through this weekend so. I was like alright let me let me sit in. for the night I still ordered out yep I. ordered from a place called Mambo's okay.

those was great like nothing but I had. the New Orleans like sampler so it's. like let's send you a gallon of etouffee. let's send you a gallon of red beans and. rice and then I ordered the cake. the voice you were hearing there is a. man who is called over 1500 games from. what I'm being told is that knack we're. along over the course of an entire. career 15 hundred games play-by-play now. he is the Thursday Night Football on. ESPN play-by-play commentator with with.

the fine crew that I'm lucky enough to. be in the booth with me. Matt Hasselbeck but also he calls. numerous other things still I don't know. you never stop you seem to never stop. it's a weird time of year you're all. weird time of year you're always on the. road and everybody said you've lost. weight I don't know how you do it I have. no idea how you do honestly it's like I. gotta be looking for like meth popsicles. I have no you know if you feel I'm a. little jittery like pregame I think. that's you're the only one that can.

really see it everybody else I've hit it. from but you kind of like figured it out. very quickly and Adam pops for. presenting when you're calling games as. a play-by-play yes sir. which by the way everybody said before I. got the gig before I met you hey Adam. the next big play-by-play guy this guy's. the next big play-by-play guy nobody. knows what the limit is for Adam Amin. because he's the next big guy I was like. and then you saw me and you're like this. is not what I was expecting I mean they.

said big they didn't say tall you're. sure but it is you sound like a 6-3. white guy but when you're calling games. what are you trying to do you're just. trying to deliver a game that people at. home yeah can remain interested in. trying to inform okay trying to. entertain okay which I think so far so. good with all of us I think we've done. an okay job I'm not trying to Pat myself. on the back or lead people astray with. with their opinions of us I just I'm.

proud of what we've done so far and I. think my job is the but here's the. general line that I give people my job. is the who and the what your urine. Matt's job is the how and the why great. and those lines all blur at various. points of the broadcast but in general I. think that's what our jobs are well the. great news there is I don't have a clue. who any of these kids are and that is. gonna be a real challenge for me last. week I said two kids number I said the. wrong name a couple times and we just. kind of rolled with it because the refs. made the biggest mistake of the night so.

I didn't even look bad at all the rest. but like I think what people don't. realize is it's four hours of unscripted. orchestrated chaos yep like we can. orchestrate the brave you know coming. out of a break what are we gonna do. going to break what are we gonna do we. got this story between. and in the next series we can we can. orchestrate that a little bit but we. don't know what's gonna happen so we. can't dictate exactly how we're gonna. call the game or what's gonna happen so. III think of it as a wild wild Symphony.

of sorts you know that's like that's the. really like highbrow way to look at it. we really want to we really want to look. at it like that. we are the maestro's of this really. weird symphony how does that sound. I've questioned the purpose of maestro's. for a long time you have and that's. because I've been I've never been around. anybody with I said no word it everybody. like all you guys's I just went back. there like oh yeah because I am a big. little bit of a hole where she you're. just having a good time up there they're. just dancing with the music I've always. thought like I could do that I have zero. musical ability but that guy up in the. front that girl up in the front I could. pull that off and then I was like that's. the most talented person in the entire. thing turns out more often than not. that's fairly accurate I've actually had. maestro's come up to me and say that. they've heard my slander and they do not. appreciate it so like this all the. maestro things is a very touchy subject.

with our got me into some trouble in. those highbrow communities I know. granite they're not really tuning into. this show to begin with but well what if. they're flipping through on their way to. 88 7 you know the jazz station or. whatever it is we're very close and then. all of a sudden you you know you flip on. this show and you're like well no this. man has me a little intrigued I don't. know what accent that would that was. terrible but I try to be I was trying to. class it up we really didn't have to. don't do extra Adam don't do more than. you need to this is your buddy show this.

little self-analysis trying to I'm like. trying to get myself a pep talk hey I. want to say this Adam. something went wrong right before. halftime last year last week I saw a. little fire out of the kid Adam Amin was. not happy with whatever was happening. and I saw that it's when a quarterback. you know like when the quarterback of a. team sees something happen and they have. to go like right up to the top and say. hey this can't happen. I want a little Rodgers on on the floor. a little bit yeah I went a little bit. wrong I'm not saying I was all out I'm. saying I went a little.

on our Matt Lafleur hey let's not say. Rogers would ever do that to Matt. Lafleur by the way we know we don't. paint that wewe don't paint that image. around here Aaron Rodgers loves Matt. Lafleur from what I'm being told he does. and if if Lafleur needed it then Rogers. is probably the guy to get it to it was. a little bit of a spicy spicy. conversation before half last week but. you know when you're up 21 oh and then. you don't score another point there's. probably could be some spicy. conversations well we were up 2100 I. think going in half oh yeah you're I'm. sorry flawless first half not only the.

players on the field but also us. broadcasting and and Adam had to let. somebody have it because these are. things that you don't know about. broadcasting I have no idea what's. happening most of the time I can't look. at screens cuz it's a little bit of a. delay operation so I'm just looking at. the field and then all of a sudden. voices will just pop in my head I have. no idea who they are and they're not. necessarily on the air but they're. trying to do other stuff in the. background like as the maestro knows. yeah sometimes he's got to interject. with something from the studio or maybe. like Molly's taping an interview or.

something like that and suddenly those. sound filters in and it's like if you're. sitting at home and you're wearing. headphones pretend like try to talk to. somebody while you're listening to. something and trying to focus on it it's. not an easy thing to do and that's one. thing the broadcasters and Pat has. figured this out very quickly you have. to condition yourself very fast you guys. all understand that because you're in a. no we don't I'm like a dog on the front. yard if something does buy them I'm bar. tonight so anytime I hear another voice. in my head I'm like I have to.

acknowledge that if people just heard it. happen so molly was doing an interview. with the coach before going into half. and we were gonna air it after our throw. to the break I guess in Molly's full. interview was happening in my ear while. we were talking so I thought at home. people are watching just a complete. cluster like they're just hear us. talking and you don't want to look bad. because you're you're sent you're gonna. making a good point going to halftime. and then all of a sudden Molly's talking. so you're gonna be well Pat's like I. don't want it now I feel like an idiot. I'm the I'm one of the rookies here and. now I'm I'm the guy who's talking over. somebody else for no reason and now he.

you are under the impression that you. had done something where you clearly had. done nothing wrong what I go alright. [Laughter]. Giada I thought that was that was could. I can I use a word here yeah I thought. that was adorable that was kind of. adorable. can people hear the game I got rejected.

from broadcast boot camp three times. like the NFL one that they do yeah they. let everybody in there they let people. that can't talk. the people who rocks for brains in there. you could be on a practice squad for six. years never see the field during regular. season it come on in we need you guys. I've been rejected three times the first. time they said send us a reel of your. stuff so I sent them my hour-and-a-half. stand-up comedy sentiment I sent of my. stand-up they're like not this year.

maybe next year so then the next year I. had done some more local work I cut it. up myself I'm like I better be on my. merit sending in no response and then. just this last year they said we're. gonna reach out to you to get you in. there no response so I've been rejected. literally three times from the broadcast. boot camp same one by the way Jason. Witten went to Booker mcFarland and. basically any other commentator from the. NFL that you know if you're new like if. you're a new NFL commentator like when. the last five years you've been to that. brought everybody everybody they bring.

everybody into nets cuz it always gets. written about like once a year you know. the sports business journal or something. like this year's broadcast boot camp and. like list off the names I get to blame. Halloween like a Hollywood party or. something like that so that's why I have. this chip on my shoulder Adam it's me. versus the world well oh you got you got. us now you got you got all of us now. yeah we got a boy sure huh I was told. last week to interject a little bit more. football knowledge so but by the way. this is my I uh I was telling you this I. some dogs for me on Sunday so I got I.

got jacked up cuz I was I got we had Ram. Saints on radio this past week we're. like oh this is gonna be great. Brees gets hurt I had two weeks ago they. assigned me New England New York and I'm. like okay fine. divisional game Brady against Arnold. we'll have some fun they've been close. games the last couple years I've called. a handful of them and now we're down to. hold on it's never done to Luke Falk. it's a 21 and or 22. and 1/2 points which might be might be a. vault and I've called NFL games since. 2012 that's mine eighth year of calling.

NFL games and I'm probably called 60 or. 70 of them at this point that might be. the biggest point spread of any NFL game. I've ever caught in are you gonna. acknowledge that are you gonna walk in. and be like welcome to MetLife Stadium. and then hit you with the points it's in. New England yes Plus touchdown favorites. the New England Patriot you know but. here's the thing in the in the old day. like not even that old like the older. days and I think Al Michael still does.

Redskins and just flowed right out of. your mouth it was at any time in your. life where you're like I'm not allowed. to say the name of a team no one's ever. said that to me and and my basic basic. basic philosophies listen I do I love. the name now but it's their name and so. you can do and there's somebody as soon. as you tell me hey we're not calling. them the Washington Redskins anymore. done you won't ever hear the word out of. my mouth literally nothing you can do. about it I just were word conduits man. like what you tell me what the kid's.

name is I'm gonna pronounce the kid's. name that way you tell me what the team. name is what the team colors are it's. kind of our job just to be a conduit for. for whoever's watching or listening well. we won't make you talk about the. Baltimore Ravens for a long time. arguably second greatest kicker of his. generation behind Adam Vinatieri he. kicked in the NFL for 20-some years when. finitary my rookie year couldn't kick. anymore cuz he had hip surgery at knee. surgery but they didn't put him on IR. cuz they wanted him to come back for a. playoff run because we're very good that. year that was a year we were completely. undefeated till we chose to lose to the.

Buffalo Bills they know the New York. Jets and the Buffalo Bills Adam. Vinatieri was a guy that was beloved by. the Indianapolis Colts organization but. he just couldn't go cuz he had numerous. surgeries so they brought in a guy named. Matt Stover and everybody knows who Matt. Stover is in a kickin community in the. NFL they showed at least the guy did a. lot of really good things I had a chance. to hold for his workout he actually had. to do a workout for the Colts to see if. he still had it cuz he had been out of. the league so it's me Justin snow and. the entire Colts organization in the. indoor facility watching Matt Stover.

kick and I learned on the first one that. Matt Stover has a full conversation with. the Jesus Christ before everything so I. mean if you're gonna talk to somebody. probably because I guess a high level. exact. so to speak I guess I guess that's a. good guy to talk to. so what I learned throughout that season. with him is not only was he very. successful very intelligent a good. kicker and all these things what I. learned was he had built up 20 years. worth of rituals that have kind of taken.

over his entire life almost like this. shoe on first before this shoe outside. this shingle not just that not just. while he's gonna kick you're seeing all. the way back to the locker rooms his. prep well everything when he's kicking. in the net in the net on a sideline he's. yelling things and then I'll never. forget it was a big time kick we get out. there and for some reason something. wasn't clicking for him and he was like. saying come on Matt to himself back. there and like thank you Jesus in this. whole thing. and I said are you ready and he didn't. answer me and I look back I said are you.

guys ready back here and I thought I'd. get a good pop out of him. and he just said yes then he made the. kick obviously and I think that was the. thing that was interesting to me and it. was it it was my rookie year and that. was when I made it a full decision that. shows but a large majority of the world. could give less than a damn about. baseball I think if it's talked about. sure but baseball seems to be the home. of a lot of rituals big time these. superstitions lot of superstitions have. you seen any that yet that you've heard. about any legendary superstition. tales that you've heard over your. pictures especially like pitchers are. really like if you go in the day before. a game that a pitcher is gonna pitch so. like Clayton Kershaw we have Clayton. Kershaw on Friday night if the Dodgers. were playing tonight tonight would be. the night that you would actually go. talk to Clayton Kershaw cuz on game days.

pitchers won't starting pitchers will. talk to you like they've got very. specific rituals about what they do like. here's my warm-up routine early in the. day here's how I put like a lot of these. guys are like I put put my socks on in a. particular way I put my my pants on in a. certain way I have to put this thing on. my right wrist I got this on my left. wrist but while I'm warming up for the. game I got this glove for the pregame I. got this glove for the game they're very. specific about I'm a professional. baseball player everybody knows I played. a right fielder a professional baseball.

game got paid for it never played. baseball as an amateur only as a. professional and I think I even picked. up something funny to like you can't you. can't argue it he was a you were a. quarterback in the NFL I can't argue. that more than once more than once I. can't argue that in the first hour we. told a story about how I played. quarterback in Skelly the 2011 season. and I was supposed to act like I was. drew Brees so like all those shorter got. a different helmet and I threw for 3,000.

yards technically were playing against. them I knew we're gonna get slaughtered. turns out we did 62 7da ner and the. Superdome we lost. knew it goin in there asked the question. if the Miami Dolphins. players or Jets players have let that. even seek into their mind there's no way. they can let that happen because you. have to have the belief that you're. gonna want to. going into a game or it could be. potentially dangerous I think if you're. not all in but as a professional. baseball player when I was out there I. think what I picked up with some. superstitions too every third at-bat I. would break my thumb really traditional.

stuff that we're talking about yeah I. just I figured that was the best way for. me to become a really good baseball. player and I was so thankful that the. pitcher threw a 91 mile an hour fastball. a little bit inside and that job Jimmy. outside a muscle through it luckily was. warm out if it was cold that thought. might have just fallen right off yeah. which by the way maybe picked that up as. a superstitious thumb drew brees. probably wishes that that could have. happened before Aaron Donald's hand just. went in there by the way. surgery for Drew Brees went perfect dr.

getting a second opinion there is no. timetable set and then all of a sudden. this morning they're like nope surgery. went perfect out there and dr. Steve. Sheen's house and they're thinking he's. gonna be ahead of schedule they will not. put him on I are destined to return. because I do believe and I might be off. a week or two but you have to sit out at. least eight weeks if you're on that. eight-week stretch right yeah they're. thinking he's gonna be back probably. quicker than six weeks that's good for. the Saints down here and and by you. that's good for everybody. I'm still excited to see if they put in. Taysom Hill or Teddy Bridgewater III. think they should let Taysom Hill get it. at least the package in there at least a.

couple plays keep the team on their on. their heels a little bit and then let. Teddy Bridgewater get loose Teddy and. when we were calling the game like they. didn't take much off the off the table. like Teddy was pretty much given the. reins of an offense that didn't look. listen is it executed differently or the. checks a little bit different it's. probably a little bit smoother with Drew. cuz he's been in the offense forever. since off decade and a half at this. point but I thought they did it they. actually let Teddy get a decent amount. of play like I'm still gonna let Mike. Thomas go downfield I'm still gonna give.

him an opportunity to throw intermediate. routes I'm still gonna have Kamara as a. great safety valve is to check down like. that the offense looked like a New. Orleans off and it just wasn't executed. like we expect I would argue this it was. like when Payton was a quarterback for. Brett Favre as the quarterback Drew. Brees hasn't missed a game since high. scores oh my god he had the surgery may. be a champion yeah like it like he. hasn't missed missed a game I think. since like huh since high school unless. he was hurt I mean that just came out.

first you want to take a vacation during. the season pretty pretty stand-up guy. there's a lot of guys there like week. nigh though like guys I need a day you. go for a week I'll be I'll be back I'm. going to Cabo just. for a few days just for a few days. McDonald's like a million dollar. franchise fee I've looked into it. chick-fil-a you have to work there for. at least one year I just didn't have the. time I looked into you can you just work. in the fryer for a year and then be like. hey I'm gonna buy this hey I can do that. I love you make that jump I looked into. a Dairy Queen delicious I wanted to. franchise a Dairy Queen strictly because. where I was living didn't have a Dairy. Queen and I wanted Oreo blizzard extra. extra extra Oreo just one time he wanted.

one particular night yeah this was back. when I was young and very dumb and I was. probably on a lot of vitamins and I. started scouring the internet like 2:00. 3:00 a.m. about well they don't have a. Dairy Queen here fornicated I'll do it. myself I'll buy it turns out it is quite. a pricey investment and then they say. the failure rate pretty high you have to. own like 10 to 15 franchises for you to. really make any money and I'm like you. know what we should play quarterback. just can't do that at punter I just. can't do it right now but the franchise.

business is one I think a lot of people. have experienced a lot of success I mean. you take somebody else's model and I go. and pay for it and they just plop it. down in a place where they need it seems. patient location location business. advice do you still have to be able to. motivate your people you start. be able to keep everything in line you. still have to have a good account you. have to there is a good business sense. but boy when I hear about these people. who have hundreds of millions of dollars. being great business can you believe. that this type of investment worked out. stunner in the business world a stunner.

Russell Wilson Legion a boom. whenever he was on his rookie contract. they were going as Super Bowl boom boom. boom then they had to pay everybody had. to pay Russell wasn't had to get rid of. everybody hadn't been back since he. looked at the Los Angeles Rams with. Jared Goff he's on a rookie contract no. money has to be paid to him yes yet team. around him completely built right did. they pay him yeah but we'll see how it. works out but you're right though that's. a try it's a trend that's been pretty.

apparent the debunking fact to that. entire trend that if you want to build a. team you have to get a young quarterback. so you don't have to pay him an asinine. amount of money then you can build up. the team. him the debunking theory Ayers Tom Brady. obviously because they are at the top of. the hill let's leave them out even. though he doesn't take top dollar every. single time he chooses not to either by. his own decision he's married to a lady. who makes a hundred million dollars a. year as well his T V 12th thing makes a.

lot of money. so maybe he's just like hey I don't need. that top dollar but I would like a. respectful amount for what I've done for. what I'm doing for my body but he's. never the top guy on there so all these. young quarterbacks have the incredible. luxury that the team can spend money and. build a team around him I always. wondered if Andrew Luck was gonna be. that guy whenever we were going into his. contract was Andrew Luck gonna be the. first big time quarterback that said. listen don't pay me what everybody wants. you to pay me Jim Irsay came out a year. before Andrew Luck's contract was up and.

said I'm gonna make Andrew the. high-speed player in the history of the. game well that doesn't sound like a. stronger say I love Jim Irsay I love but. that thing for me he was using it as. marketing like hey I'm gonna invest in. this guy more than anybody who's ever. invested in somebody I love him and I. respect that but in my eyes I thought. Andrew Luck could have been the guy. because of how humble he is cuz he does. come from good beginnings because he. does have an incredible business mind. and also he's a genius off the field but. he was getting his ass kicked which is.

why I thought he could potentially say. hey listen let's cut that down 10 mil a. year I'm still gonna make 30 million a. year let's cut that down and let's go. ahead and build up my offensive line. right you have to allocate this money. specifically to the offensive line so I. said that aloud I said that I was like. you think there's any chance that Andrew. just says you know what I want less. money pay money for offensive line so I. don't get just beat to hell and back. every single time I play quarterback and. what I was told is the NFLPA. will never let that happen I said why.

not they said well if that happens. Andrew Luck's the next big one he's. supposed to get paid then the next. quarterback behind him the team will say. well Andrew Luck chose not to do it to. build the team you can't do it and then. so on and so on they thought it would be. a chain reaction that would lead to. quarterbacks not getting as much money. as they could and if you listen to levy. on Bell who sat out Le'Veon Bell said I. have to get paid for the running backs. that come behind me but in a quarterback. position I. as this trend continues to grill we're. at 18 quarterbacks 26 years of age or.

younger as this trend continues to grow. something's gonna have to break at some. point one of these quarterbacks who's. due the richest contract in NFL history. is gonna have to say listen I've seen. the trends here I very much understand. that what's good for the goose is good. for the gander but for one time let's. look at the gander before we look at the. goose let's play everybody else. let's give me a lot of money and let's. build up this team thing because when my. homes is up for it he's next that's golf.

just got paid that's gonna be a problem. for the Kansas City Chiefs they got a. lot of weapons they got a lot of great. players now granted they got LeSean. McCoy for three million year which is an. incredible deal good for LeSean McCoy. taking that I'm sure he had other. options he said he could have went to LA. or something but Kansas City was closer. to home which I respect but all these. young quarterbacks it it seems like at. some point somebody's gonna have to be. like you know what now. I don't need 75 million a year just give. me 35 million here which will still buy. me a lot of franchises if I want and be. rich forever and be a great businessman.

he's gonna come on I'm saying and let's. build up the team because that is what. it is looking like it's looking like. whenever you have your kids on rookie. contracts you get a chance to build up. the team around them and it's good for. everybody. is it a worry that the middle ground. like the middle like let's use the term. middle class of the NFL is gonna kind of. deteriorate because it's gonna be a lot. of young guys at quarterback with. franchises that are gonna build around. them and then a lot of rich quarterbacks. the mahomes the golf's you know Brady. for the time being while he's still. playing now just like the NFL mears our.

society the middle class and the. blue-collar folks are getting kicked to. the curb and when I say that I mean that. I'm talking about the special teamers. the seven year eight year vets that just. run down there on kickoffs and cover. punts those guys they have to make at. least eight hundred grand a year because. there's a veteran men now those guys are. easily chopped off the team because. there's the rookie men is only 400 grand.

or 300 grand so you're saving yourself. 500 grand on those guys. so whenever the salary cap went up the. only thing the one up was quarterback. contracts quarterback contracts just. went through the roof and then everybody. else had. fight for the scraps and then they're. like no big deal if a worried about one. position a quarterback club getting all. the money we'll make the veteran men go. up we'll make that go up and what that. didn't earn was instead of helping the. veterans what it end up doing was her. during the veterans that are on veteran. men's because you can get rid of those. guys and have the rookie mints two of. those you saved yourself a million. dollars we'll get to special teams.

Gunners for the price of Matthews like. Matthew Slater who's one of the greatest. special teams players of all time like. oh well we don't need a guy like Matthew. Slater we'll just go get two undrafted. free agent so we're gonna work their. butts off on special teams exactly so. the money thing is such an interesting. thing and it's the new CBA is coming up. it's gonna have to get settled I I I was. pushing for the quarterbacks to be in. their own Club basically and have them. be tiered bang if they do this they get. this you can tear them in an a a B or. whatever and just somewhat incentive.

be upset about that I if I was a 17 year. old kid I would want to go battle. against these 30 year olds and to be. honest if you look at my film for a. seventeen-year-old I probably beat the. hell out of these thirty year olds but. not everybody's gonna be able to do that. I think the thing about these odd zero. football players when they come over. they have such a maturity they have such. an appreciation they are very grateful. for the opportunity and the thing the. football coach is like most about him is. they're not gonna hit the shanks right. there they might not be able to hit the. biggest ball yet because they're just. learning how to.

the football but they're not gonna hit. the 7-yard punts they're not gonna hit. the 10-yard punts that can really cost. you games which by the way whenever I. was the 19 year old 20 year old there. was a chance at any given time I'm. hitting one off the ass of one of my. offensive linemen and that's cuz I was. out of control probably partying too. much and also I was just young trying to. figure out the world I completely. understand why colleges are doing it I. completely understand why some young.
