nothing in California that will ever. make right now that makes the NCAA not. tell them yeah you guys Mia fornicate. yourselves with this law we don't care. you just won't be a part of the NCAA. anymore that that is basically what I. think the NCAA blade will do with this. although I like the fact here we go get. on the Brawn and business getting. involved with this I like the thought. that student human athletes are gonna be. able to make money I've been a big. proponent of this for a very long time. we actually had to delete a lot of my. tweets from back in the day for how big. of a proponent I was before I got to. call my first game for the NC double-a I.

think student human athletes should be. allowed to make money off of their names. if they are the ones that created they. should be able to do autograph signings. they should be able to do whatever the. hell they want if the school can make. money off the team which they do. hundreds of millions for most places now. granted they say well nobody makes money. yeah we're building 600 million-dollar. facilities nobody's gonna make money. whenever you build. six hundred million dollar facilities. we're doing it in a much smaller rate we. spent 31,000 on a box truck our.

company's gonna make zero dollars this. year if I had to guess because of this. but it's just it's one of those things. where I don't think this will be enough. for the n-c-double-a and Mark Emmert to. turn his opinion on this or sway their. opinion on this that their students. first and they can't make money off of. their name because we are a bunch of. selfish people that's how I feel. I completely agree that Mark Emmert can. screw California on this but as far as.

the law is concerned I was always I. couldn't wrap my head around how they. were gonna play pay college athletes. didn't human athletes if they had to pay. everyone but if they are just allowing. student human athletes to get paid an. endorsement deal so it's just a few. players on the team and the money's not. coming from the schools it's coming from. the companies who are doing the. endorsing love that idea though the. thing that everybody says by the way bob. kevoian a Bob and Tom radio legend. listening to the show said show sounds.

I was in school they all had jobs at car. dealerships and they were just they. weren't showing up or selling any cars. and they were just getting broken off. basically and everybody's like well that. helped Oklahoma recruit because they had. a car dealership job that they would. work at that they didn't really work out. that they got money so the way that they. keep spinning it is if well if companies. can pay them for appearance's boosters.

that big schools will be able to recruit. players by doing this which makes sense. to me by the way but I would argue. that the biggest recruiting tool is. putting the same teams on national TV. every single night everybody's worried. like all it's a disadvantage when it. comes to recruiting. if West Virginia doesn't have a car. dealership down there that's willing to. pay players 10 grand a pop for autograph. signings and Alabama does well the. players gonna go to Alabama and settle. West Virginia I don't know how to break.

this to people but whenever you have. Alabama on national TV every single. weekend and you have a hard knocks like. show on ESPN of the Alabama team where. somehow Nick Saban looks like a real. human and you show his house and their. workout facility and their spa in their. hot tub in their steam room and the kids. know okay if I go to Alabama my chance. of being at a top ten pick is much. higher than going anywhere else that's. already a disadvantage when it comes to. recruiting so let's just call it what it. is you don't want the kids make any. money and that's why I think that this.

California thing means jack squat in the. grand scheme of the n-c-double-a I don't. understand why the NCAA has any problem. coming from there if it's coming from. the advertisers pocket they have any. problem with the student human athletes. making endorsement to us it's because it. has to be because they think that that. money could potentially be going to the. school so advertise with the through the. NCAA rather than the players I think. we're getting to a point where everybody.

is kind of on the same page where the. athletes are getting screwed I mean I. mean you have the old hot take takers in. the just like I said yesterday the. people that walked uphill both ways to. school back in my day we had to build. our or John to poop like there's always. that thing like the old school model. friends of mine feel that way dan. dockage a guy that I get along with is. one of the biggest proponents of keeping. the NCAA the way it is but I think as a. whole society is kind of turning mostly.

because the exposure of how much money. these schools are making is becoming a. much more well-known thing when I was at. West Virginia my freshman year I just so. happened to fall into a class that was. unbelievable I've literally been riding. coattails my entire life and that didn't. stop it. Virginia I just so happened to be in the. same class as Pat white Steve Slaton. Owen Schmidt was a year ahead of me. Derry's for an odd yeah there's just a.

list the names go on and on for our team. we were incredible before our team. really got going though what's what. Jenny I never want to bowl game West. Virginia had a good team back in the 80s. when ever won a BCS bowl game ever okay. so a bowl game but a BCS game right. so what's regina had always been good. west virginia not always but they had. been good in the past but they never. really gone big-time so then my freshman. year we win the Sugar Bowl we get gifted. mountain bikes by the way oh I'm gonna. use those in Morgantown West Virginia. mines that's exactly what they thought I.

think Oh what are the Mountaineers. mountain bikes kids will use that West. Virginia is literally the Rockies you're. in the Rockies and you're either uphill. or down I bought a scooter um a remote. start scooter. I never even sat on that mountain bike. one time but it was a nice exchange but. school money started flowing in now once. you start winning and I watched the. campus in Morgantown go from Morgan. whole which is literally what it was. referred to as a place where you want to.

have a great time a fairytale land where. it doesn't seem as if there's any rules. - a couple years later brand-new. buildings were being built they were. adding on to the stadium a brand new. locker room whole new like built like. this the campus just had a glow up like. foxy like every box the entire campus. run mice my freshman year - the senior. year I literally watched what US playing. on Thursday Night Football getting some. real shine getting a lot more students.

to come to the school because we're on. national TV all the time because we were. winning I saw an entire school and a. university become a very nice University. whenever I first got there I don't think. anybody was like you know what W of you. good academic place by the time we're. done still not saying it's the Harvard. but it's a much nicer place so I. literally watched Pat white and Steve. Slaton potentially flip around an entire. program and entire university in Pat. white and Steve made nothing off of it.

and that's why I have such a personal. feeling towards it because. selling five jerseys and ten jerseys and. suresies everybody on campus had at. least one of them like 30,000 shirt. sales by the way you're making Bank just. off of that I always thought patent. Steve could have been able to make some. money by signing their name and that's. where it started when I was in college. watching it and it's kind of evolved and. I think society is kind of seeing that. now it's like hey these kids are yes. rich Rodriguez put them in a system to.

succeed yes West Virginia gave them the. opportunity to get on a football field. but they were the ones if it wasn't for. them none of this happens and I think. they should be rewarded for it in other. wolf they're good enough no good to the. NFL. well not that time because away Pat. played it wasn't the NFL at the time Pat. made it into the NFL so did Steve. injuries happen he got slaughtered. against the Pittsburgh Steelers by Mike. Taylor I believe I which I didn't I did. not like seeing it but he didn't make it.

to that big-time contract he didn't get. a chance to get paid off everybody's. like well who's good enough who makes. you feel it's like he did but he got. hurt and it's it's like I think the kid. is still owed a lot of money and that's. why I'm so passionate about the way the. n-c-double-a is but I like what our old. Gavin's doing over there in California I. hope he signs that thing through. terrible name great law just don't know. if it's gonna affect absolutely anything. at all and the thing is like the players. that you talked about there's a lot of. players in college who are great in. college and could make money off of this. in college that just don't translate to.

the NFL so mea I think it benefits them. more than the guys who obviously you. know who are gonna be great in the NFL. and make money Matt Leinart. another guy I mean Matt Leinart he was. on I mean there were stories about him. with every single Hilton yeah every. single notable pop culture thing Kristin. Cavallari before jay color married her. there this used a Tanner and Blake. Griffin I believe his ex has a I mean.

Matt Leinart was this everything in when. he was in college his NFL career I don't. think was great what's that oh I think. he played three years in the NFL so. there's a lot going on obviously still. in this box truck but he played for the. Cardinals right yes and it never really. came he never made a big contract but. what he did for us. USC takes care of him a little bit. better than West Virginia takes care. about white but I just I am very. passionate about this I think guys that. do a lot for a program should be. rewarded for it and I don't think I. should by the way people are like oh.

they're gonna pay the kicker or the. benches I don't think I deserve it like. I think I have a very like Oh am i as. the kicker all-time leading scorer for. West Virginia in my expecting and punter. by the way all-american no big deal in. my expecting the same type of treatment. as Pat white Steve Slaton and the people. that mattered on the team know and if a. kid does kick him out of school dog but. that's not that's not your concern.

though if an advertiser wants to pay you. the same that they're paying Steve. Rodgers and so I just think it was like. that competitive mindset of Brett Favre. wasn't personal just he was just a. football player and had a one-track mind. and I also think think if you're an. older quarterback you're trying to win. the Super Bowl Brett Favre you're. expecting like that first-round draft. pick to be like a guard you know or a. corner a lock down corner help me out. help me win a Super Bowl Y Manning. whole show I mean it literally turned. into a whole show I ended up doing an. entire stand-up set basically bringing. up rookies to sing and then all of a. sudden Earth Day would turn the corner. on his golf cart whoa into the indoor. facility drive that thing literally. straight up to where we're sitting goes. boys let's do the photo come walking it. was a legendary I actually think that's. where your stand-up bit kind of started. for sure sitting there everyone's like. on a bleachers just waiting like awkward. silence and somebody may be a coach or.

maybe you just did it on your own. they were like a pet get up and. entertain us it was like hey clown you. know what you're here for. please go up there and go ahead and talk. in by the way this was during an era. where the potential general manager did. not love me and now I'm just standing up. there in front of him he's in a suit in. front of chokku Chuck has always been a. big-time laugh at me which I appreciate. makes me feel good even you got all. these other people you got everybody's. in that team meeting a team meeting is. our team photo is a big moment for the.

team and yeah turn in you know that the. team photo my rookie year I was actually. on the practice squad of the Green Bay. Packers and so there were four. quarterbacks in our room it was Brett. Favre Doug Peterson Rick Meyer and then. me and a little room it's a good great. room but there's not a lot for the. fourth string quarterback to do it. practice so I was playing scout team. tight end blocking Reggie White every. day at practice but I still would wear a. red jersey like a quarterback jersey so. in Green Bay the offense wears white the. defense where is green and the. quarterbacks wear red well for team.

picture day everyone wears their game. uniform well since I was on the practice. squad I didn't have a game uniform so my. rookie year I am NOT in the Green Bay. Packers team photo either so that's the. draft class in 98 so then in our Super. Bowl in 2005 I tell that story and I was. like yeah Mike Holmgren back then didn't. allow practice squad players to be in. the team photo and I just made it I was. like a little bit of a like it you know. as a scab that I got picked or whatever. and Mike Holmgren this is like right. before the Super Bowl he's like he's.

like someone says oh how come you didn't. let him be in the you know the team. photo he's like oh he's lying I let him. be in the team photo. they come back to me like just trying to. create Super Bowl week. Media controversy they come back to me. and they were like what Michael Wood. said you were in the team photo and I. was like oh yeah well the team photo. exists look I don't know if Google was a. thing back then but oh maybe was I don't. know but anyway these team photos are. kind of a little bit of a tricky thing. there's like there's some there's a lot. and they hang on the walls of the every.

facility forever those things you get. like your mortalized in facility forever. and there's always one guy that ruins. the team photo like you don't know it. but there's always one guy that's given. like up like a weird emoji face like. trying to screw up the photo yeah like. Jeff Thomason people know him as a tight. end for the Eagles but when I played. with him where the Green Bay Packers he. would do like a funny face kind of screw. up the team photo. so how about the Super Bowl time to look. at I gotta party I gotta be a part of. one of those I mean they do that on like. Tuesday media day or whatever I mean I.

was with some people that night before. they were also in that team photo and. that Super Bowl photo we might have been. running on about an hour and a half. sleeve I had no idea what I was walking. into are these big fake earrings from. Claire's in you oh it was a rough if I a. lot of people has my video yeah for the. Super Bowl I'm innocent. no front lower left I didn't have shoes. or the equipment managers had to give me. shoe you had to wear black shoes only. had white shoes so they gave me these. size like 14 shoes I mean it was I would.

never be there again never be there. again in my photos just a complete joke. cuz it is so funny you got the highest. level and everything right it's the. biggest best athletes the richest. athletes you got all this stuff going on. you got owners they're the coaches and. just for a brief moment there it's just. like you're back in high school taking a. photo and somebody's ruining it. you look terrible your parents are gonna. be embarrassed don't ruin the family's. name and there I was right in the middle.

of the doing it it was a joke man it was. a bad situation speaking of bad. situations we got to go to a commercial. break don't know if we'll get to it. honestly don't know if we'll get to it I. have no idea if we're gonna go toward or. not Hasselbeck will join us on the other. side I think sure I could do one more. one more segment we got Romanowski 11:30. weekly look it up it's a magazine. professional football trainers something. erotic and well you know at least I. called him trainers people on the. internet call them water boys and I. always get very angry I'm like those. water boys you're referring to they work. 20 hours a day for about seven months. tour in the season but if they don't. have a good personality the team can. really go into shambles that's a real. thing a lot of time in the training room. nobody's happy when they go in a. training room bother you know you're not. walking in truth you know what feel good. today let's take care of this just have.

I think he rescued 12 people and he. didn't make it out so really did the. work of a firefighter. he wasn't a firefighter and lost his. life quite a sacrifice when his dead. when his dad on that Tom Rinaldi piece. said it's nice to know that in the last. hour of his life he put his stock trader. hat down and put it on but start crying.

synonymous with the old days of football. he's been in movies with the Sandman. he's been a businessman Matt Hasselbeck. just told me that he loves the neuro one. supplements it makes him feel better. I'll tell you what mr. Romanowski um. whenever I think of your name I just. think of a man that was the most intense. player on a field a man that took zero. crap and I heard this story that on your. first practice as a rookie you got like. pushed and shoved and didn't do. something and Ronnie Lott told you that. don't ever let that happen did that kind. of shape your entire career and mindset.

as a football player that conversation. or were you always like that you're just. trying not to upset anybody on your. first day no that actually happened in. my first game as a 49er we were playing. these with the Los Angeles Raiders and. in the second half in that game you're. right I got pushed in the back and we're. in the film room the next day George. Seifert running the projector and Ronnie.

turns on the lights right in the middle. of the film and says the tortes turn off. the projector and he comes over to me. leans over my. and he says Romo if I ever see anybody. push you in the back and you don't do. something about it. I will personally kick your ass. [Laughter]. so that's really a defining moment in. your career I couldn't even fathom that. people told me all the time that if I.

got pushed in the back and I didn't do. anything about it probably the right. move probably just go ahead and stay. away from those types of incidents. because I was soft you went on to become. one of the most vicious football players. to ever play at a position that requires. a lot of vicious situations in the old. football was one that was a grand and. pend big play big hit game now things. have changed immensely how do you feel. about the way in its current the game in. its current state and do you think your.

style of play do you think you would. have been fined a million dollars a. weekend probably at least because I was. a head hitter so every time I hit. somebody I was delivering a blow with my. helmet because that's the way I learned. how to hit and the harder you could hit. the better and I use my head as a weapon. and I wanted to knock people out well. the way the game is now you can't.

deliver blows with your helmet you got. to turn your head and deliver it with. your shoulder I don't know if I could. have done that and you're right I think. I would have been fine every week or. probably kicked out of the game well I I. would assume so the way you just. described everything there with your. tackling method is everything that Roger. Goodell has come out against and the NFL. has come out against because of the. stats and the science and the research. whenever you start hearing about things.

like this happening to older players who. potentially played the exact way you did. using your helmet as a weapon in your. head as a weapon is there any thoughts. or fear or uncertainty about the. potential future of your brain because. of the way you play I think there is but. I think you have to use it every day and. it's a situation where. yeah I run a company now nutrition 53 so. I solve problems every day I put fires.

out every day and I think you know. working on something that you're. passionate about and you're fired up. about you know when you get up and you. have something to go do I think that's. important I don't I don't drink I good. food I don't smoke I don't do anything. bad other than I eat good food I work. hard and I work out every day and to me. that is the recipe for success and if.

something happens to me. hey I'll deal with it then but I also do. a lot of hyperbarics I have my brain. focused product I do a lot of things to. make sure my brain is going to be all. right another thing I do is I get in a. sauna every day for 20 minutes so. there's research that says if you get in. the sauna everyday for 20 minutes your. chance of getting Alzheimer's drops by. 65% after I read that research I put us.

on in the next day so you know those are. the kind of things I'm very progressive. no different than when I played I'm. progressive now to make sure my brain is. all right we're coming to you live from. a sauna currently we've been in here for. two hours so I hope that this helps us. out those types of stats and those types. of things looking to the future trying. to get ahead of it it's such an. incredible thought because back whenever. you were in the NFL there was a lot of.

chatter about you staying ahead of the. NFL drug testing program and being. smarter than the program which is still. happening by the way nowadays do you. think you were potentially. misrepresented in your legacy because of. everything that came out from that. incident with your teammate in the. products you were using and stuff like. that that really had nothing to do with. anything. hey I took things that they couldn't.

test for and when they could test form I. didn't take them that to me. isn't doing something illegal that's. just being smart so that's what I tried. to do is hey I looked at the drug. testing list as a Bible and I think you. had to look at it that way because the. last thing you wanted to do you know was. test positive for something and. embarrass your family hey when it was.

all said and done and my career was over. I came out and I talked about different. things that I did in my book I talked. about it I was just honest about what I. did and I think there are some people. that thought oh this is a guy that just. cheated on everything and I don't think. that's the case what I did is I worked. harder than any other player in the NFL. and every aspect of the game and that is.

training that is film study that is. keeping their body right that is eating. the right things. supplementation recovery everything is. part of being a great athlete and it. took that for me to be able to take that. field every week did you have a doctor. working with you and did you start this. early on like how did you decide that. you were gonna be a guy who wasn't.

scared to make his body better if the. NFL is not and I think the fan. perspective in the media perspective. might potentially be different than I. don't want to say a majority but people. in a locker room who are just trying to. be the best they absolutely can if. somebody is in testing for something. let's go ahead and get ahead of it and. as soon as they start testing and it's. against the rules I'll stop doing it I. don't want to be a cheater did you have. a doctor that you worked with or is this. something that you literally started. doing yourself and as a follow-up did.

you know you were gonna get into the. supplement game Matt Hasselbeck and I. and when I say this I mean this Matt. Hasselbeck was a guy in like Rookie of. the Year the guy who opens the locker. and has everything that could. potentially make them better voodoo. dolls copper fit you name it ever. thing like that he spoke glowingly of. your neuro one did you know you're gonna. get in the supplement game afterwards I. know I was gonna get into it but it was. something you know as far as the doctors.

I had ten different doctors I worked. with I had you know a team of scientists. I worked with I had acupuncturist. I've massage therapists I had Reiki. specialists you know herbologist I mean. you name it they were part of my team. and I could get a hold of them and get. with them with whatever I needed at that. particular moment and I just knew how to.
