now football it's wonderful and there's. massive news out of the football world. but before we get to that I have to say. the group of humans around me that I get. to work with every day are so damn. electrifying the toic TBL is here at. Boston Conor and at Tai Schmidt a. nine-year NFL vet host of everything DB. good D bad D which will be debuting this. week's episode later on the show der St. here and ladies and gentlemen wearing a. secret society hoodie a 12-year NFL vet.

Center and wedge King of the wedge for a. kickoff returns for the Indianapolis. Colts Center and guard for the Baltimore. Ravens center for the Pittsburgh. Steelers center for the Philadelphia. Eagles ladies and gentlemen AQ. Shipley what's up boys did I get all. those right nailed it okay are you. winning over your friends in a. Thunderbird I think so it's big it's a. big huge move actually cool yeah he's.

all jacked up he I would like to let. everybody know he just put this hoodie. on and the Thunderbirds Are a group of. uh I believe uh business people out in. Arizona what you call home and yep uh. really make the the city a better place. give a ton of money back to Phoenix. Charities big deal big deal this guy's. one of the pillars of Phoenix a looks. like it that's what it is did you see. the hoodie he took off to put that one. yeah that's what I was about to get into. uh the hoodie he had on earlier was a. one of one yes it was a size 4X mhm mhm.

uh throwback throwback it was certainly. Remington trophy is what it says and the. Remington award is uh the best interior. lineman best center best center in the. country which he won uh at Penn State oh. yeah fun fact the award show even though. he was announced the winner before the. award show because they weren't going to. give any TV time to the best center in. the country fair enough at the award. show smart move uh that is where AQ and. I hung out for the first time that's. right down there in Disney and I'll tell. you what we we we did it we did Disney.

we burned it down we were the only ones. I think uh of the players that went out. there and kind of had a good time out. there us walking back into the hotel at. whatever time it was uh legitimately. whatever time it was 3: or 4 and there. was somebody standing outside from ESPN. with like a checklist like okay you were. the last two so now that we know. everybody's here for the award show. we're like don't judge us didn't know. there was a cur yeah we had no idea. celebration I thought we were having a. good time but you had a oneof one hoodie. on that basically you won alongside this. trophy.

that they gave to you uh at down the. award show look how young a look at that. hair look at everything about it and. then not only did he get that uh trophy. he got a one of one 4X hoodie that he. was wearing around earlier and I was. hoping he'd wear it on the show because. we are in the award season for college. ball we are in a very important time for. college ball I also did think maybe he. would wear a Penn State hoodie like he. has in the past because Penn State has a. massive college football playoff game. this weekend at noon on Saturday against. SMU smu's head coach Rett Lashley will.

be joining us in about 17 minutes or so. to chitchat about how they're kind of. preparing for a big one in Happy Valley. yeah B big noon kickoff for Penn State. SMU and obviously Warren there tight end. an absolute dog and there's a story. about the backup quarterback Bo who had. to get in a transfer portal James. Franklin uh wasn't that that pumped up. about it but Penn State has SMU and then. uh they potentially have Arizona State. whoever wins this game gets into the. next round so big one for but if you.

wanted tickets for any college football. playoff game any one of them MH mhm big. deal this is big deal huge games. expensive remember the home field. advantage was one of the big things oh. yeah like having so we could showcase or. environment and culture and everything. like that cheapest ticket in all of. sports to get into this weekend SMU at. Penn State 60 bucks oh my goodness I. think it's actually 59 bucks is the. cheapest tiet that you get a $1 lower.

than it it was at 60 then it was at 68. at one point in the last 12 hours now. it's at $59 obviously C geek uh the. greatest ticket buying platform on. planet planet Earth and the moon. supplies that but then you go back to. when Penn State was in the Big 10. Championship out here in Indianapolis. Indiana yep and remember it was 20 bucks. to get in what the hell is going on is. Penn State not able to sell a ticket. what what is I think it's like the. average ticket buying price for the. Notre Dame IU game uh when a resale.

price after the thing was announced was. like over a th000 bucks I think it was I. don't know if it's 12300 that was the. average resale price for these tickets. to get into IU Notre Dame now that's a. Hooser battle and there's a lot of. history in those two fan bases mostly. because the IU football fan base a. majority of them were Notre Dame. football fans for a long time because. they were the football team from Indiana. that would they would cheer on now they. have a football team that's going to be. an awesome environment up there over a.

th000 bucks to get in there Penn State. game 12 team playoff game price for Hot. Dog see who cares Bowl this weekend 60. bucks to get in what the hell is going. on up there that's a great question but. I do know the Big 10 Championship they. showed up I I think I think it was. Oregon that didn't want to come this way. but this game concerns me a little bit. Yeah well why is it concerns me a little. bit are we not going to fill up well see. is that place not going to fill up see I. don't want to make a lot of excuses but. I think the kids are out of school. they're going home finals are done is.

everybody you don't think the Catholics. are out of school well see Christmas. week you don't you don't think that is. is a story that's probably a story in. most places I'm not real sure what's. going on up there in Happy Valley I. don't like it one bit though keep put. the uh the full bracket up of the. SeatGeek average resale ticket price. thing uh that one up there no the the BR. yep there it is okay so Texas how many. seats are in there 100 100.

big Ohio State how many seats are in. there what 80 plus no I think it's 100. 100 Penn State how many people in there. 100 so nobody else is seemingly having a. problem with it being 100,000 plus. that's weird you know uh Notre Dame does. not have 100,000 but they're resale. price since it was announced 1,3 bucks. so all we wanted the Penn State fans. were great at the Big 10 Championship. they were very loud and once again use. code. p2024 you get $30 off any ticket not. just the college football playoff any. NFL game any NHL game any NBA game which.

maybe they need to move some tickets out. there at the NBA cup yeah maybe hand. them out maybe yeah I don't know hey you. want to go see a ball game anyways C has. tickets everything get 30 bucks off with. P two 2024 um AQ they better fill that. place up oh it'll get filled up it might. get filled up for 20 bucks a ticket but. it's going to get filled up okay good. because I think one of the best things. about this 12 team playoff is a lot of. people who maybe don't watch college. football are going to get a chance to. experience college football yes it is.

the sport of football on the field now. is it a different style of football than. NFL football which NFL football gets. like 50 some million people to watch 20. some million people to watch and college. football still has a chance to go get it. and grow the fan based football fans. still can grow into college ball I was. excited for them to get to see these. HomeField environments and like. experience college ball because the. pageantry the tradition the passion that. is all a massive piece of why college. football is so damn electrifying now. we're getting.

get a hot dog and a ticket to a game up. there that's one of the best fan bases. like in the North is it thought it was. is it they are we've experienced it a. Lucas Oil they were loud they were they. were very loud you experienced it on the. field before the game it was a noon game. that's where they missed the mark this. should be a night game well they're. going to the Horseshoe uh Tennessee this. game's on like uh like True TV or. something is it really I think. so TNT TV what is happening.

right corner of the stadium that's what. you're going to see okay well anything. could be the top right depending upon. how you look at the stadium obviously if. you look One Direction top right is top. right and then you look another. direction that it might actually be back. left but I understand what you're saying. yeah you what I'm saying up where. somewhere there will be a tiny sliver of. SMU fans and that's all they'll need. they said they're being counted out they. don't look for HomeField Advantage. they're just happy they're in the dance. we'll talk to Rett uh in about 10. minutes or so that is alarming though. not good wild especially with how like. they are real well I don't I don't like.

the whole like well you know it's so. close to Christmas it's like you don't. think family like it's it's not on. Christmas it's the weekend before. Christmas families go in there you do it. for one day you go and it's not like the. tickets are a th000 bucks I mean these. cheap skates aren't going to spend 60. bucks on a ticket to get into a a. playoff game what what world are we in. right now well it's hard to get there. though remember it is hard to get up. there sure so you know but kids that are. already there like you don't just go. home after finals because there's. nothing to do it's like hey this is kind. of where College gets fun there's.

nothing to do you can kind of just party. and then get ready for the college. football playoff game that you've been. working for all year and then what then. you're going home to Christmas then. you're going home and getting a bunch of. presents this is a hell of a this is an. 8 n day run here of awesome historic. everybody else experiencing it hopefully. Penn State will as well speaking of. having a good run let's hope Michael. penx Jr has one of those hell yeah. ladies and gentlemen Kurt Cousins has. been benched by the Atlanta Falcons in. the eighth overall pick in this past. year's draft will be the new starter.

going forward now if you listen to Dan. rovski yesterday who didn't think this. was going to happen from the. conversations that he had although after. the game coach Raheem Morris said. everything's going to get evaluated. we'll come back with a decision after we. go through our process yada yada kind of. started and ignited the conversation. about maybe Michael pennock's time is. now well it it was made official. yesterday and I think the the alarming. thing I heard from orlovski yesterday. was he felt like Kirk Cousins had lost. his confidence and if you lose your.

confidence in one of those types of. positions I guess any position in sports. especially at the professional level. that will be your downfall you know you. hear all these people that are. world-renowned in sport and they talk. about the brain being the most powerful. thing yes you have to be able to. complete the task that you're being. required you have to be able to throw a. football you have to be able to kick a. football you have to be able to hit a. baseball you have to be able to throw a. pitch that is certainly a qualifier to. become a professional but in between the. years is where you become a pro or. you're just a guy that was good at. sports in between the ears is when you.

become an allpro or just somebody that. has a cup of coffee in between the ears. is everything and everybody thinks. that's like IQ all the time no no no. that is a confidence that you have to. have in yourself that you're going to be. able to uh complete the task that is. going to make you be great for your team. so where do you get your confidence from. well you get it from the work that you. put in practice is what leads to. confidence because you can always fall. back on your fundamentals we think her. cousins has a phenomenal work ethic when. it comes to practice so if it's not just. a fundamentals issue if he's having. confidence seeing defenses and.

understanding things then that's a. confidence that delays you and that's a. confidence creates eight interceptions. in four weeks in zero touchdowns that's. the type of confidence I think is very. tough to get back in the middle of a. season and now it's Michael pennock's. time and we chatted about this on draft. night Michael pennx was a very good. quarterback you know at Indiana he was a. great quarterback then when he went out. to Washington he was a great quarterback. he's played a lot of football the throws. that he has made is like hey this is a. pro quarterback this is a guy who should.

do very well at the next level very. mature has played a lot of games his. team loves him he's a great leader so. whenever you draft that type of guy to. go into a building there's always going. to be little murmurs about like hey this. guy should be in here instead of Kirk. especially because it's Kirk cousins'. first year so then Kirk has that run of. bad that he is having even in a win this. past week there was no conversation. about him having a great game this felt. like inevitable and uh I think if you're. the Atlanta Falcons you can feel both. Vindicated that you spent the number.

eight overall pick on Michael penck Jr. or you can still wonder did we help add. to the lack of confidence that kurk. cousins was feeling in a situation. because in practice he's watching a guy. who has picked top 10 spin it all over. the field who cares for the Falcons. they're still in the NFC South. conversation but this is a massive move. for the future of the franchise def. massive move especially because of what. you just said they're still in it like. it's not like The Season's done it's not. like the Bucks have locked it up no. playoff hopes you put the rookie in and.

see what you have going forward so. that's huge Dan was on yesterday and. saying he didn't expect this to happen. this year and he also said he's been. hearing that everybody loves what. Michael pennick has been doing in the. building all year long so you put the. young kid in there give him a chance to. spin it and when a guy like Kirk Cousins. loses that confidence in the passing. game being able to anticipate make those. throws in the windows from the pocket. that's where he is he doesn't really. have another superpower to lean on like. a Jaylen Herz or Josh sh Lamar Jackson. if they're not really seeing it they can.

extend plays and make these different. plays with their legs so when you are in. that pocket as a defense I know we love. a pocket quarterback if they're not you. know fully confident because we know. exactly where they're going to be we. know exactly where we need to be in our. Zone drops and now it's just about. reading their eyes and breaking on plays. and yeah he just kind of lost it didn't. look like himself this last uh month or. so and you got to do this to kind of. keep your te team in it 180 million deal. $130 million guaranteed that's where the. business of this whole thing comes in if. they were to cut Kirk cousin. uh they would take a $65 million cap hit.

if they were to trade him the $27.5. million guaranteed base salary that is. uh for next year would go to the next. team they would eat the $37.5 million uh. to cover the rest of the 65 million in. dead cap we've seen the Denver Broncos. take a massive cap hit and uh be okay. with it and say we're moving on we don't. know what's going to happen in Cleveland. no that'd be up over aund some million. in dead cap money that they couldn't use.

uh on other players to build their team. so you're you're working at quite a. disadvantage uh versus every other team. in the NFL especially with the parody. that there is at the top level but if. you think about MoneyWise Kurt Cousins. is going to be a okay oh Kurt Cousins is. going to be a no doubt this is one of. the stories of Kurt Cousins you know he. was willing to bet on himself with the. franchise tag with the Washington uh uh. that's back uh the Washington uh the. Washington they're bringing it back. still bring it yeah big booms yeah big.

booms to make big boom he was playing. for a Washington team at the time over. there in uh the capital of the United. States of America he took the franchise. tag multiple times and said I'm betting. on myself I'm betting on myself had good. years that was back when they had that. coaching staff that was like Shanahan. McDaniel uh I believe laflor potentially. there McVey there like there's a whole. crew so their offense was rolling rahee. Morris which is why he potentially ended. up in Atlanta so he franchise tagged had.

good years franchise tagged had good. years then he hits the open market and. he was the first guy that I recall at. quarterback position taking a fully. guaranteed deal instead of some gross. huge money with a lot of incentives and. Kirk was pretty trailblazing and. gamechanging whenever it came to. contracts for quarterbacks and that. never stopped he continued to do that. throughout his entire career even in. this Atlanta one with 130 million. guaranteed phenomenal businessman both. he and his agent so he's going to be. just fine fine okay going forward no.

trade clause too what do you mean by. that so he gets to decide if he wants to. wave that or not so or he just says Hey. release me pay me my money and I go play. me somewhere else so and there will be. teams will there still be teams that. will want Kirk Cousins AQ Shipley 1,000%. to be starter to be backup to be veteran. what do you think he's a starter on 21. teams right now we talked about it. before the show there's there's not many. great quarterbacks in the world right. now and so when you look at that and you. got a guy like him yeah okay I think. he's shouldering a lot of the blame.

right now but I also think that the. coordinator hasn't done a great job. doing what Kirk does best you're not. seeing a lot of the play actions you're. not seeing a lot of the boots you're not. seeing a lot of the nakeds and getting. them rolling now is a lot of a lot of. that to do with his anchor his Achilles. whatever it is right who knows what's. going on but you still need to let him. do what he does best and they have not. done that could you fathom Sam darnold. signs a deal massive somewhere ktk. cousins has what $30 million coming no. matter what whatever 60 something. million guaranteed Russell Wilson.

situation next year for contract and he. goes back to Minnesota oh man could you. imagine Kirk going back to Minnesota. story getting 1 million hey JJ Young. Buck kind of watch watch this watch how. this goes you know you got see Sam Donal. last year for a little bit when you were. back in the building now go ahead and. watch me because Kevin oconnell has had. great success with Kirk Cousins we know. that when Kirk Cousins wasn't playing. they weren't winning when he was playing. they were winning kind of like what Sam. darnold's doing right now but much more. efficient is Sam darnold's first year no. matter what it's like Kirk is going to.

be hot to trot next year and I think. with the way the contract is set up. there's a Russell Wilson situation. looming where Steelers only paying him. one million bucks this year he is a $1. million quarterback for the Pittsburgh. Steelers W against their retire Sal 43. million Denver Broncos are paying him so. he's completely AOK and he's become the. leader of that team making that has to. be 30 of 32. salary yeah it's it's bottom of the. barrel maybe 32 yeah might be last. probably seriously Rock part Brock. making Brock got to be making more than.

1 million at this point right fourth. year oh oh I know with the with the. performance bonus or whatever he ends up. with like 2 million or something player. performance yeah bonus that comes in. when when's that come March I know all. about that exactly when that comes in. than you got a lot of player performance. bonuses you remember when they were. trying to kick those down the road years. and years they did yeah it was an. uncapped year in 2013 so I didn't get. that money until 2015 which ended up. being a good year good year when it came. real good Year everybody knows your 2015.

story so than alluding well you get. double you get double that year that's. what that's what I'm getting at you get. two player performance oh because you. get that one and then the next one yeah. they're trying to do it all but yeah. Brock py I wonder what his salary is. this year can we look that up what Brock. PR's current salary is because then. we'll be able to kind of Judge that but. Russell Wilson might be the cheapest. starting quarterback going into the. entire year for the Pittsburgh Steelers. that's a weapon that's quite an. advantage is KT cousins going to be able. to do that for another team we shall see. well I mean you look at what the rookie.

quarterbacks have done thus far and you. know Caleb was kind of the one guy that. has hasn't really come in and started. immediately and done very well so a guy. like Kirk especially if penx who's had. 15 weeks to sit behind Kirk during the. regular season if penx comes in and. plays unbelievable you got to think hey. Kirk of course goes about his business. right knows what he's doing guys can. learn behind them like even those top. two teams the Giants and the Raiders you. would wonder if they would take a chance. it's like hey we could draft a guy and.

put him in right away but you know Drake. may sat behind someone did very well. penck pending him he might sit behind do. very well right away why wouldn't you. take those top two picks and think like. hey we could spend a million two million. bucks on kurk cousins who's proven who. can show the next guy what to do because. no matter what those teams it's not like. the Giants and the Raiders are in that. category of hey we get a quarterback. we're going to win 12 games next year. like there's a lot to build a lot yeah. there's a lot that they still have to do. and who knows they might be in a. completely. new regime nonetheless too so like those.

type of teams you would think might take. a chance as well Brock party salary uh. this year. 95,000 I believe is what it is Cap hit. total his signing Pro ration is uh 1 mil. uh. 4,252 bucks so that's what the San. Francisco 49ers have been able to. operate with it's what the Steelers are. able to operate with bad right now and. uh what does Kirk do now is he the. backup quarterback or is this a Daniel. Jones situation where he goes to like. Scout team defensive tackle or punts.

because are they is he going to back up. penck now yeah it's never happened to. him I don't know I'm very cuz he was. back up to RG3 obviously whenever he. first gets into the NFL but he was. drafted after RG3 was a setup in this. situation it's his first year in Atlanta. which is why we thought tough to win. over the trust of everybody while a top. 10 picks there if you do hit a slump at. all there's going to be calls for pennic. which came very loudly and now they've. had to make the decision to go to penx. which once again might work out.

perfectly for him they might end up. looking like absolute Geniuses in this. especially if penx is going to play how. they're talking about him playing but. does Kirk go a backup quarterback is he. on a clipboard for Michael pennx is that. how this I don't know legitimately I. mean yeah I mean you're expecting to you. know be a good teammate that's what I. would expecting to do you know you still. you still getting paid you're getting. benched now now you're the backup and. you're you know facing facing the scout. team maybe you know that's the way he. builds his confidence back up but for. Michael pennick like it's a tough spot. you going into like cuz [ __ ] moves so.

much faster during the game and you. always you hear the term mid-season form. like defenses are in you know damn near. postseason form at this point so for a. rookie to get thrown into that it's. going to be tough on him and then. obviously tough on Kirk you know a big. this a big shot of his ego his pride we. know how quarterbacks are now you coming. in the backup but uh I expect him to be. a backup being be operating as scout. team Tom Brady remember what he said. about Daniel Jones Tom Brady was like it. happened in Michigan but if they want me. to play wide receiver to help team I'll. play wide receiver if you want me to.

help the team well Kirt cousins do the. same exact thing in his first year. because they are paying him a lot of. money a lot of money Kur cousins is a. competitor he's yeah I mean come on but. this is also what do you mean come on. you what do you think Kirk does in a. situation I think he'll still just be. the backup cuz like at this point what. what really can happen we're so late in. the season but this is also why everyone. killed the Falcons because granted this. situation is working out for the Broncos. right now but you're they squandered the. like you have penck on a rookie deal but. they can't really improve the roster.

that much because they have so much dead. cap now so you can't even really take. advantage of the fact that you do have a. rookie quarterback it's like we knew. that everyone knew this was a. possibility and it was kind of like they. were just like no it's not there's no. way this and then all the you know he. and I mean how many weeks ago he he set. the Falcons singles single game passing. record for you know yards and then 6. weeks later they're like yeah [ __ ] this. guy we're done we're done get him out of. here and it's like it's just it's crazy. it is a crazy time to be an Atlanta.

Falcons fan still in it still in it and. pennic might come out and maybe they. thought Kirk Cousins is the perfect guy. to show panics how to be a pro because. Raheem saw Kirk operate behind the. scenes previously maybe this decision. will end up working out perfectly for. him and they'll be able to laugh in our. face but to your point about roster. construction very valid tough but that's. only for next year I think so they will. have maybe a couple years ahead uh. speaking of a couple years ahead this. team somehow moved into to the ACC and. then Bang everybody thought it was going.

to take a couple years to transition. uh-uh head coach became the ACC coach of. the year they make it to the ACC finals. in a thriller against Clemson and then. they become the 12 seed in the first. ever 12 team playoff ladies and. gentlemen joining us now head coach of. that team the SMU Mustangs red. Lashley Co coach how you. doing good Pat good to be on the show. I'm supposed to tell you big Oak says. hello well please tell him I said howdy.

please uh please certainly send my. regards and yeah it's been fun to watch. because I met you I believe you're the. OC at SMU whenever I met you I was doing. Thursday night football games and you're. former ball player former quarterback. former player the way you ran your. offense was awesome we had like a I. think a very easy conversation and then. I kind of follow you over you go to. Miami they come back now you're the head. coach at SMU and what you've been able. to accomplish in such a quick time good. for you man good for you man you worked.

your ass off for this legitimately you. worked your ass off for this had a. vision and feels like you're back in the. perfect place over there at SMU how do. you feel after this year and how do you. feel about the SMU Mustangs. brother yeah I appreciate it I mean it's. been it's been fun it's been a wild ride. here the last three years just the what. the the speed at which our program's. gotten to where we are um you know I. think we've won 22 games in the last two. years and and played in the conference. Championship Game the last two years and. here we are in in the cfp and uh there's. 12 teams left with an opportunity to.

play for a national championship and. we're one of them so really proud of our. guys it's been a special Journey you. know for a school like SMU that had been. on top of the college football World in. the past a long time ago but you know. there used to be guys like Eric. Dickerson and the Pony Express uh. beating teams like Texas and anyone else. that they would play and so to have our. program back to that stage uh stage and. and and just in this kind of. conversation on the national level is a. big deal to us hell yeah as it should be. and obviously great area of town down.

there in Dallas you know in the modern. world that we're in but you talked about. that Pony Express the death penalty. right you guys got kind of served the. death penalty because of what everything. that's currently happening right now. isn't it kind of a interesting kind of. world that we're in right now that what. SMU was basically kicked off of. everything for like kill the program now. we're in the wild wild west and you guys. are succeeding in it like how do you. feel about about the modern world that. we're in and does the irony fall upon.

you about what the Pony Express was. killed by kind of happening. now it is uh it's definitely uh. interesting you know uh obviously this. not not excusing anything SMU did over. 40 years ago but it also wasn't like. they were the only ones doing that back. then but they just seem to be the ones. that got the got to be made the example. but you know now we're in a day and age. where players rightfully so can. capitalize on their their abilities and. and all the money that bring to this. sport of college football um but it is a.

it is a different time I mean we're. sitting here in the college football. playoffs on a on Wednesday we play. Saturday at Penn State and free agency. is rampant in college football and it. just you know so it's uh but yes we've. been able to capitalize on it here at. SMU I think the right way over the last. two or three years to get our program. back to this point and and I think what. it's done too you see across the board. the parody in college football is is. different than what it's been three four. five years ago I mean I'm not going to.

say you won't have any more dynasties. but you know what Nick Savin and Alabama. were able to do for so long and others I. think it's going to be harder to do. because no longer can teams stack two. three four Elite recruiting classes and. say Well they're second and third. teamers could start anywhere else in the. country but they can't go anywhere no. now they transfer they go and they start. and between that and nil it allows for. teams like SMU and Indiana and Arizona. State and Boise State to be in the. playoff with legitimate chance to make. some noise so NCAA president Charlie.

Baker will be joining us tomorrow in. studio so there will be a lot of. conversation from us to him about. everything that you're talking about. right now just know hey red I'm your. huckleberry bub I'll go in there I will. I will do it and I think Charlie's. expecting it and I think that's why he. wants to come on the program Tomorrow. there's a lot to talk about obviously. but I think April 8th uh next year. there's a ruling coming down about a REV. share but nil will still be in involved. and then nil might become even more.

important because if everybody has the. same it's a wild time uh to be alive and. you talk about those recruiting classes. one after another it's like there're you. don't have to be in the transfer portal. for people to be able to call you and. tell you like hey you're very good. you're not going to play there for two. years we thought you knew that going. into school now supposed to be in the. transfer portal but you're supposed to. be but that's not how it's working out. right at all anywhere I don't think. right not at all yeah okay because. agents are in here now so agents are.

able to have this is just like when the. combine happens here in Indianapolis. Indiana in the NFL the agents are all. here it's a you're not allowed to Tamper. not allowed to do anything but the. agents are just happening upon. conversations with people and yeah we. might have about 20 million for a corner. next year oh okay like those but now I. think agents are in representing these. college players so like you're able to. kind of find out information and then. soon as somebody finds out they're like. oh I can get how much I'm going in. transfer Port I'm out of here that's. that's happening I think like at a rapid. rate right now right and you're. experiencing more than me I guess oh.

yeah I mean a lot of times if you see an. Elite player go in the portal uh as. dollar bill on billions would say they. are not uncertain of where they doing. you know what I mean like they they have. an idea and it's either done or it's. down to two or three schools people. don't just hop in for no reason if. they're really big- time players and so. you know and and that's where we are and. look Charlie Baker inherited a really. tough situation he's trying to make it. better and you know the NCAA is a big. organization and you know how long it. takes to move a big organization but.

before he got hired I mean we've just. been void of leadership and so a lot of. things that are good players having the. ability to transfer you know nil all. those things are good but when there's. no borders there's no guidelines there's. no structure if you kind of have chaos. you know you have free agency windows in. the NFL you have contracts you have. structure we have none of that and so I. know that's what he's trying to bring to. the table but it creates a lot of chaos. when you're trying to get ready for the. cfp something kids should be fired up.

for it should be the opportunity of a. lifetime and yet they're getting. bombarded by schools to leave your. roster and they're in the middle of the. playoffs you're trying to bring in. recruits to now replace your outgoing. seniors for next year yet you're. supposed to be focusing on the game it's. just a lot all at once for these kids to. deal with hey figure it out you know. like that is what that like you probably. feel terrible even complaining about it. but I think without you mentioning that. like coach Sab never wanted to complain. about it but then coach gets in these. meetings and gets on TV and he's like I.

got to re-recruit this guy transfer. portal is open and I'm preparing for the. national championship at the same damn. time how is that supposed to be all at. the same time like they just I think. they need to figure out the calendar I. think there needs to be a calendar sort. it has to be totally rebooted and I'm. not complaining look we're adults and. we're football coaches it's our job to. fix problems and handle tough situations. so I've always told people you know they. gripe and say coaches are complaining. we'll work 24 hours in a day we can't. put 25 in a day so if you do too much it.

gets a little difficult but like we can. handle it what's not fair is like the. Penn State backup quarterback who were. playing had to go into the portal and. said he's not going to play with his. team and it was the hardest decision he. said he's ever had to make because he. has to balance do I go in the portal and. not pass up an opportunity to go find a. good future home for me to go be the. starter or do I play with my team and. finish in the playoffs something I'd. want to do and he says I couldn't do. both that's what's not right about this. situation he shouldn't have to make that. kind of decision agreed because he's.

worked his ass off too to get to this. point with his team and what tomorrow is. shouldn't affect what today is but it. feels like today has everything. happening at the same damn time. hopefully they're able to get that pick. I think your backup quarterback too or. former starter is going to plan on. hitting the portal but he's also. sticking with the team how does that. work yeah he he we did the same thing he. went in the portal he said he wanted to. stay through the playoffs and finish we. wanted him to so we've worked with him. you know when we've not had practice. days he'll go take a visit he'll come.

back and uh it's a challenge you know. that he wanted to do and we're working. with him but again two different. situations kids still both felt like. they were in a position where they had. to make tough decisions that honestly. they shouldn't have to make you know got. it okay so let's stop talking about all. that let's talk about your team. congratulations man hell yeah hell yeah. Kevin Jennings tell me about this guy he. your team ignited around him huh he's. the dude yeah Kevin's dog man he is he's. uh he's a winner he's a leader you you.

guys have seen it I know um y'all talked. about him a lot on the show this year um. on Saturdays I mean he did he he won in. high school he stepped in here last year. uh when Preston got hurt and won the. conference Championship game for us in. his first career start and then what. he's done this year since we made him. the starter after week three he's just. he gave our offense an identity he's. explosive uh you saw what he did in the. second half of the Clemson game leading. us to come back and you I think the. special thing about Kevin he has that. unique ability to be incredibly.

confident and like I said a dog like his. teammates believe in him and you know. how it is to have a quarterback that the. team believes in like that at the same. time he's like incredibly humble and. he's not a me guy and so he has that. Perfect Blend and uh and the moments. just never too big for him as a matter. of fact he's usually the best in the the. toughest moments sounds like a face of a. program which is obviously what he has. become and you talked about that second. half what you learned from your team. because we watching along we were at the. Big 10 Championship watching along as.

the end of that whole thing was. happening and at the beginning there was. 247 or something I think it was 247 217. whatever it was yeah and the college. football world were like oo for that 12. team playoff if this goes how this is. going they're going to discredit. everything SMU has done this year even. though we don't think it's a good thing. to do that because the chaos of the Year. getting your team to show up every. single week is a task in of itself in. playing and winning games is a big deal. especially if you look at all the losses. but then that second half switch flip.

what was it you think about your team. what did you learn about your team in. that moment most adversity all year. other than BYU yeah no I think they. proved that they were exactly who we. thought they were they were the team. that that won eight straight conference. games and had won nine straight games in. a row to get to the ACC Championship. game and to be ranked high enough to be. in the playoffs you know we had a really. bad first quarter I mean we had two. turnovers our own side of the field we. gave Clemson the ball four times on our. side of the field in the first quarter.

our defense played lights out but it was. 21 to7 because we gave them four short. fields and I think they only had one. touchdown over 60 yards in the entire. game so we really hurt ourselves early. but what you saw as a resilient group we. go at halftime Town 24 to7 and we just. everybody was calm and we just said look. this has a chance to be our defining. moment of the Season maybe our finest. moment if they won the first half 24 to7. we can easily go back out and win the. first second half 24 to7 we'd won some. quarters 24 to7 this year and so our.

guys credit him we went out and we got a. stop we went down and scored and then we. hung in there we got to the fourth. quarter our defense played great Kevin. was cooking as they say and you know we. scored with 16 seconds left to make it. 31 all and at that point we had won the. second half 24 to7 you know. unfortunately we didn't do a good job. kicking the ball of the end zone and. covering a kick late and credit. Clemson's kid would just nailing a 56 y. I mean it was it was like the bat off of. the ball coming off a bad of Baron judge. and you just know it's gone immediately. as soon as he kicked it I think my.

headset was off before it was through. the uprights I think it was pure what a. game and but I think our team showed. that we have that Championship character. that resilience that ability that we. knew was in there we just made stuff too. hard on us in the first quarter. immediately afterwards one of the first. things coach dbos Sweeney said was that. is a playoff team on the other side and. that guy's obviously been to the big. dance multiple times I think that was. very telling and inevitably the playoff. committee put you in at the 12 seed dbut. has a question for you here about this. weekend yeah coach uh speaking of the.

playoffs and the elements you know first. 12 team playoffs and you getting the. home games from these team Penn State. will be the home team here obviously got. preparing you know mid 50s I think out. there in Dallas right now the forecast. for uh this weekend mid teenss how are. you preparing for that mentally uh with. the players and the coaches getting them. ready to go on that play with that cold. weather yeah it's it's a great question. and you know I mean weather's only going. to be a problem if we allow it to be you. know like we've told our guys they all. want to play in the NFL right well we're. getting into that playoff time of year.

in the NFL shortly into December and. January where the playoffs are going to. go through Arrowhead and they're going. to go through Buffalo and they're going. to go through Green Bay and so you have. to be able to go on the road and play at. those places or you play for those teams. if you want to play Championship playoff. football at the next level so we get an. opportunity to do that in college this. week and you know fortunately that ACC. Championship game was in the 30s uh I. know it's going to be colder than that. this week here's what I'll also say I. mean I think the Crow and the HomeField. environment is the biggest problem um.

Penn State's got to play in the exact. same weather the exact same weather. conditions we do and the last time I. check they've never played a home game. on December 21st in 20 degree weather so. yeah U I even think they have an indoor. up there you know so it that's only. going to be an issue if we make it one. um and if we allow it to be one it will. be but I think our guys showed hopefully. last week that they'll playing the. elements and if we want a chance to win. and survive and advance in the playoffs. we're going to have to overcome 20° w. and 106,000 fans and if you're a. competitor that's the opportunities you.

want hey maybe that place might not be. filled up I don't know if you're seeing. the T the Penn State they're on they're. on break holiday break they had their. finals we'll take 102,000 then if that's. what we. need well I think your SMU people can. potentially yeah I think you guys can go. get a little yeah yeah I think there's a. chance uh you can get in there Charlotte. looked miserable that looked miserable. cold rainy it looked bad over there for. that ACC you know it was cold and I had. a pull over and a jacket on in the first. half and we were getting our teeth.

kicked in 24 to7 so I took the jacket. off in the second half and went out and. the the sub official looked at me he's. like are you not cold I said yeah but. the way we played in the first half I. don't deserve to wear a jacket and uh. you college coach you ACCC college. coaches on if you your team doesn't play. well not doing something Fran at. Syracuse doesn't shower right that's. right if the team doesn't win yep him my. team's get my ass beat I don't deserve. to be comfortable I deserve to be cold. as [ __ ] give me frostbite because our. team's down 247 let's head to.

hammer tone Diggs has a question for you. coach yeah coach I had a question to you. about your the man meet on your team. because normally when you go from a. group of five to a power four conference. the the o line dline is is kind of where. it's lacking but you guys have been. great up front running the ball and and. then stopping the Run you're top five in. the country and I know you've got some. transfers from Miami that you brought. with you on that D line how do you feel. about the man meet going into this Penn. State game because I know they are also. awesome up.

front question I think it's what's given. us a chance to compete in year one and. to get to the ACC title game and even to. get into the playoff and it's it's going. to have to give us you know carry us to. give us a chance to advance uh you know. I think Garen Justice Big Oak as we. called him at the beginning our o line. coach has done a fantastic job with the. o line and 13 of our 20 transfers last. year were o and D lineman for that. reason and we've had good balance on. offense our running back brashard Smith. about to break the allpurpose record at. SMU this weekend and and that's because.

we've got a really good o line and and. has kept Kevin clean and then on defense. to your point I think we lead the. country in QB pressures as a dline and. we uh we top five in the country against. the run and that's because that dline. not just the first unit but we too deep. they've stayed healthy and so as you. guys know a really good dline and. stopping the run and being able to run. the football is a key the good dline. makes the linebackers in the secondary. that much better and if you can run the. ball and stop the run it allows you to. control the game and it doesn't allow. the other team to and so uh that's been.

a big key for us obviously it's a. different challenge with Penn State. because they're really good on their. defensive front and they can really run. the football they ran for almost 300. yards last week against Oregon so um. it's going to have to come up big for us. this week two great Runners they've been. there seemingly for like a hundred years. dude how it always Singleton and Allen. they've been there since Freshman now. they're juniors they have a lot of. experience and obviously K Nikki if he. continues to run The Rock has the. capability to do it he gets little. excited sometimes it's a little exciting. he he likes to run too many trick plays.

that's Penn State Alumni and offensive. lineman AQ Shipley's opinion I don't. know if you've seen that in your film. study Garren Justice Big Oak former. offensive lineman of uh the Rich Rod era. certain but let's remember that the boys. fought hard okay yeah and uh there was a. couple players I was watching where I'm. like he's goingon to be a good moner. going forward like that guy Hudson. Clement kid out of West Virginia West. Virginia state player of the year had to. walk on at West Virginia back in the day. I thought it was just kind of common. practice the West Virginia Player of the. Year just kind of gets a scholarship to. West Virginia I thought I I maybe that's. just because every state yeah I thought. that was just because of my my roommates. were both state players of the year in. the state of West Virginia when I was in. college but he would walk on uh to West.

Virginia get on scholarship and then. last night showed everything about being. a [ __ ] hard edged guy uh I'm sure. there was others on the roster somewhere. uh on the defensive side somewhere maybe. somebody but like uh running wild G GG. is running wild it was a nice it was a. nice Nostalgia run to watch GG do his. thing in the highlights this morning. watching it back and they were in this. thing all the way until late late late. late they were driving to win this thing. against the 10 and2 Memphis Tigers who. were obviously top 25 team I I don't.

know how we ended up getting matched up. with Memphis but I respect that we did. wondering that too yeah I I don't know. how this was the bowl game but I think. people knew West Virginia had a team. much better than six and six and we kept. fighting obviously made it close yeah uh. can we get to the final play six and. seven final excuse me the B get count. it's regular season stuff easy the uh. the final play GG throws a pick then guy. tries to run it back Hudson Clement. punches it out okay we're going to have. ball first down 8 seconds left on like. the 30 going in yeah here it is 22.

seconds left 4237 touchdown wins it GG. throws a pick obviously H throws a guy. this guy dip [ __ ] runs around Hudson. Clement hard Edge punches it out who. recovers it offensive lineman for West. Virginia going to have eight seconds. left on the clock going to be first and. goal 30 something now could run a play. to get this thing out of bounds quick. get it up to 25 maybe we're able to win. it they would over return the call. because he was sliding he was giving. himself up the play was over even though. his was not down and the ball came out. because he decided to slide play was.

over didn't know that was a rule had no. idea that was a rule bull me y West. could have won that thing last night on. the last game of the Neil Breezy era saw. a lot of the players wearing Neil Brown. Shirts that's good you guys did great. thank. you Rich Rod was there saw Rich Rod. there did interview good to see him. walking around with remen Baker it's all. good Speaking of awesome and we're. hoping Rich Rod does exactly the same. thing with West Virginia that happened. at IU guy from JMU comes over brings his. boys with him and they transform a.

culture into becoming one that I don't. think anybody even in the state of. Indiana could fathom ladies and. gentlemen the head coach of the IU. football team the who who who who had. ended Notre Dame in the first round of. the 12 team playoff of college football. which is a pipe dream for a lot of hoer. fans this guy saw it coming ladies and. gentlemen Kurt cetti yeah. how we doing coach how you guys doing.

hey fantastic not as good as you you got. a team in 12 team playoff kicking the. entire thing off on Friday night how do. you feel how does the team feel congrats. on all the success thus far although I. know you haven't won anything yet but. congrats on this season how do you feel. coach I mean you we're still in prep. we've had a good week uh you know our. guys will be excited to play and um you. know we're in it to win it we don't want. a participation medal right yeah amen uh. getting so uh you know um today's.

Thursday and uh we've had a great week. and uh looking forward to going up there. I think it's a great game for the state. you know I know Notre Dame's kind of a. national brand but for the state of. Indiana I think this is a tremendous. game in terms of promoting the sport of. football you know and making it even. more popular than I know pton Manning. did a lot for the game uh you know when. he was with the Colts but I I think this. game here will do a lot for the state I. think so too and coach I I assume you've.

been told this by numerous IU people I'm. very lucky to be around a lot of hooers. married into a hooer family a lot of the. IU fans and this is where football was. for the in uh Indiana University for a. long time they didn't even they were IU. basketball fans and then they were Notre. Dame football fans because Notre Dame. was in the state of Indiana and. basically anybody but Purdue is how they. viewed it so their football team was the. Fighting Irish that represent our state. and then we're who your basketball fans. now all those people immediately yeah we.

got a football team now and they're. excited pumped happy you know you say. participation trophies but who your fans. that I talk to are like ecstatic about. this entire Whirlwind of a season how. did you know that your team was going to. be able to get here because you've been. calling your shot since the beginning. and what have you learned about your. team this year that has you feeling. great about Friday's. opportunity well you know first of all I. I was confident I'm like a player that's. experienced success on the grid iron. right so you have success as a coach you.

believe in your blueprint and your plan. I felt really good about the 22. transfers we brought in in December I. thought we really changed the roster in. three weeks and you can see the culture. start to change in January Spring ball. summer fall camp now you still got to. put it on the field you know but then uh. you know with every win uh came belief. confidence and it it snowballed and had. been through a similar situation in the. past so knew it could happen happen and. along with that came came the fans. support you know which cuz if you.

remember the first game came out at. halftime we three-core lead about half. the people had left I addressed at my. press conference but uh you know wasn't. long we were selling out and we had 5. 10,000 people outside the stadium. tailgating that can't get in and it's. been over the top man I mean these. people are starving for Success best. fans in America I mean they just they. wanted it so badly and uh it it's been. great to see it's hard to even EXP exp. to be honest with you yeah they're all. so grateful you know you you woke up a.

fan base that had been cheering for. another team because their team had been. non-existent for so long this is a. football people out here in Indiana I. know it's a home basketball there's a. Basketball Hall of Fame out here the. Pacers obviously fantastic bob Knight. with the hooers legendary there's a lot. of basketball love around here but these. are naturally a football people in. Indiana got a lot of farmers got a lot. of bluecollar people got a lot of. hardworking people and giving them the. opportunity to celebrate their hooers in. this particular World I'd like to say. thank you because there's been a lot of. happier Hooser fans than there have ever.

has been and they're pumped going into. Friday night now speaking of that you. gotta you got to juggle a lot we were. just talking to Rett Lashley about this. go ahead Ty yeah coach obviously you. have the a massive game coming up and I. assume that takes you know the line. share of of your focus but how do you. juggle you know having to be active in. the transfer portal considering that is. a big reason you know you guys were able. to flip everything so quickly obviously. that closes Sunday how do you juggle. everything you have to do with that. while also having to prepare for the.

biggest game in the school's history on. Friday. night yeah no that's good question and. and it's tough because you're wearing a. lot of hats you know you you're working. on retaining coaches your roster. evaluating portal guys portal guys on. official visits getting a team ready uh. for a game and and we shut down the. official visits this week uh so that we. could completely focus on game prep so. we got nobody on campus Monday through. Friday we've got some kids coming in. Saturday and Sunday and then Monday is a.

dead period then we've got a week to. recruit in January but 75 80% of these. guys have already made their decision by. then so in a way you know what's it's. great that you're in the college. football playoff but you're sort of. penalized to a degree uh in terms of the. portal recruiting Because you know. there's only 24 hours in a day right and. you can so um you know we're getting. some recruiting work in at night but the. focus during the day is prep and we're.

still doing okay but I guarantee you. there's a lot more kids out there that. you know we could be researching. developing relationships with uh but I. think the publicity of uh you know. getting in the playoff the exposure. which we've earned and uh and now it. helps if you know if you do well. obviously and and we're going to be okay. uh but it's been 4:00 a.m. mornings. 10:30 at night you know it's been four. hours of sleep and uh I know one thing.

I'm going home after practice T night. this is like a Thursday practice my ass. is going home okay you deserve a coach. and tell that family we said hello when. you get home and he it is Wednesday he. said Thursday game's normally on. Saturday this game's on Friday so you. bump the schedule up a day to keep. everything the same as a game week which. leads to the extra time that you've had. AQ has a question for you coach yeah. with all the extra time how have you. handled the last couple weeks of prep. it's like an off week uh you know you. practice enough to stay sharp.

fundamentally timing and Rhythm um. practices were a little shorter kind of. generic I mean we dove in on Notre Dame. as a staff uh and introduced a few. things but I I like the sense of urgency. preparation during game week and. carrying that through to a kickoff so. you know I don't want to do too much too. soon plus quite frankly a lot of our. time uh was spent on the portal. evaluation in uh recruiting and official. visits so much to do so little time.

massive game on Friday that the whole. world is going to be watching kicking. off the brand new era of college. football you've earned it we can't wait. for it game day will be there I think we. got like a 4 and a half hour show. kicking that thing off there's going to. be a lot of Signet love out of this. mouth you need to know that Connor has a. question for you yeah coach most. expensive ticket of the weekend so. congratulations your team's a massive. draw in the college football playoff but. how have you addressed the team has it. been kind of acknowledging how big of a. moment this is for the state of Indiana.

for football and IU in itself or has it. kind of just been business as usual. we're just playing football out there. same type of week as it has been all. season no it's business as usual you. know that that kind of hype is for you. guys and uh people that love to follow. Sports and I mean you know you prepare. for this game like you prepared for game. four or game five I mean the standard's. the standard right and if there was a. better way to do it we do it that way. every time so I like where we're at I.

like our mindset uh I think we learned. some good things coming out of AIO State. uh that some situations will handle a. little better and uh I'm confident I'm. confident in our team going into this. game and uh you know we'll be ready to. go let's talk about that Ohio State game. obviously a couple special teams. situations pop up do you feel like that. was great for your team to get that. experience before Friday do you think. that was a moment for your team or how. would you how do you describe what. happened in Ohio State over there I'm.

not sure I'd call it great uh for any. yeah but I'm you know you know what I'm. talking about I know what you're callous. almost like you're callous you have a. situation I mean we gave him 14 points. on the punt team you know we dropped a. snap and we gave up a punt return for a. touchdown um and it seemed like we were. in that one corner of the end zone for. two and a half years um you know and. didn't didn't handle the crowd noise. very well and had some communication. breakdowns and pass protection and. couldn't play offense uh for a while. there cuz we couldn't protect the.

quarterback and uh you know we went to a. silent count uh which is the first time. I've ever done that and uh we'll never. do it again um and why why why will you. never do it again you hate everybody. does a silent count I thought that was. just kind of standard operating. procedure in a loud environment well not. always uh you know cuz there's always an. indicator when the ball's going to get. snapped and once they figure out who the. IND what the indicator is they te off. time those blitzes and they get off and. you know defensive guys are reactive.

Dame Fighting Irish which will kick off. a historic playoff run to find out who. the greatest team in the country is will. it be one of these squads potentially. maybe then on Saturday there's three. college football playoff games capped.

off by Tennessee at Ohio State which we. will be live from the sideline of for a. simal cast on ESPN 2 ABC and ESPN will. be fer and Herb Street the other three. playoff games will be intermittent or. our other two playoff games will be uh. kind of split by NFL games as well so we. got five very meaningful football games. on Saturday we got one college football. playoff game on Friday night we got one. NFL game kicking off Thursday Night. Football week 16 then we got Monday.

Night Football following a Sunday slate. that's packed and then we have Wednesday. football NFL on Christmas two games on. Netflix then Thursday night football. again then we get right into a massive. weekend again so we're in it and bowl. games they matter yeah of course. allb all throughout football is winning. right now yeah we only fo only got a. couple months left we in the best time. of football yep let's watch all let's. enjoy it all and let's assume all these. games are going to be bangers because. they're potentially set up to be as such.

doing it because then you otherwise it's. just like oh this is just like a second. rate golf event that these guys don't. really care about you know it's like. because the first thing you're going to. it's like okay well this isn't anywhere. near as good as just any random PGA Tour. event on a Sunday much less a major but. it just you you need to have someone who. isn't a professional in there I think. and then you pair him with a. professional cuz then that's where you. get most of the [ __ ] talk too those guys. who aren't professionals are going to be. going at each other especially if they. hit a good shot exactly like we all. remember right now in our head Tom Brady.

around better and feeling better than I. think you would initially think the next. day so who knows I know him I know he's. a competitor I know he's going to want. to be out there I know he's going to do. everything it takes to be out there um. so we're going to see what happens but. there's no question that the three games. in 11 days is a nuts and be very. difficult for a situation like this. which Mahomes is also facing in Kansas. and hopefully when's Christmas next year. I don't think they truly understand you. guys obviously all know how difficult. that is especially going from a Saturday. to a 1 pm game it's not even like it's a. night game it's 1 pm so it's something. Amazon Deal gets done that was a massive. like prove it you know prove that it can. happen they have success on Amazon I. don't think there's been a single flub. except for people's internet connections. Red Zone um but the offense just there's. just something little there that hasn't. quite been clicking and I think if they.

can get that going they can make a deep. run but if the offense doesn't start to. return to what they were able to do last. year it's going to be tough all this is. happening without Aziz Al Shah who will. be back for the playoff run uh so you. think him returning them coming off a. buy being ready to go I think Houston. minter's got that defense playing lights. out and somebody's going to have to face. that uh and it could be possibly. somebody like the bills trying to go up. against that defense so uh and then you. flip it over to the NFC and you got the. Packers who are sitting there right now. as I think what six or yeah six seed um. that I mean they're 10 and four and. they're sitting third place in their. division it's it's a very very deep. difficult one and then you look at some. of these other teams like the Rams. started out what with a four game losing. strike early in the season now they're. sitting there at eight and six and.

they're all of a sudden you're like holy. sh can the Rams do this um I wouldn't. want to face the Bucks this this is a. really deep tough playoff so and I I I I. really like the Vikings um I think Brian. Flores and the defense I think their. edges and John grenard and Andrew van. GLE are lights out I think they're. extremely underrated I think they are. wildly underrated and people don't give. them enough credit so it's going to be a. hell of a playoff set this year anybody. that gets in has a chance to go on a run. obviously Eagles are a team that we all.

think are going to be able to go and. that' be great for the Johns one team. that we thought was going to be able to. go just forever seemingly this was their. window even though they hadn't won a. Super Bowl yet they had had massive. success every year and there was no. different of expectation on this. particular season it's gone a different. direction Ty has a question for you yeah. the hardest thing is how are you going. in that locker room and looking a guy. like Dre Greenlaw in the eye when he you. know had to fight back from the injuries. and it's coming back and it's trying to. do everything he possibly can to be out. there somebody else out there who's. battling through multiple injuries and. just doing whatever he can to be on the. field for his guys like that the locker. room is is a sacred place man and like. if you're not going to go out there and. lay it all on the line for your boys. it's it's it's just it's a you can't do. that yeah they came out and said as such.

like wrapping it up in one of those uh. stretchy bands moving it around flossing. it getting it in heat trying to get. stuff flowing through there which ones. have you guys done which do you. like I uh I've done it I mean I've. rolled yeah done it a million times I. mean once like you have the once it goes. down from being a giant club foot then I. think you got to move that thing around. it always felt better once you got out. there and you actually played or you. practiced on it like it it felt like you. loosened it up a little bit so you got. to hope it doesn't swell back up though. once you do that yeah once you loosen it. up and it starts feeling good then it.

hurts more the next day now you're on a. carousel with this ankle for the time. have you ever for a corner that's a. tough a lot but I'm a big big range of. motion guy as as fast as quickly I I got. a band pumping I'm um like you said if. it is super swollen you got to drain it. maybe or get some of that fluid out of. there but I'm a big range of motion I. hate keeping in the boot keeping it you. know wrapped up tight I hate all that. wrap it up put all the whatever you want. to call it the floss stuff on there to. kind of give all the stuff and get out. on the field and get it moving yeah put. all stuff I forget all the names now. done playing I don't have to wrap. anything up AJ AJ you remember John. Simon of course yeah he he's the one who. he was the first one that I saw who he. got he's spraying his ankles very very. badly and 30 seconds later he had that. floss and he just wrapped it around he. was moving it and he was in the training. room and I was like what are you doing. man like the trainers were coming over.

with an ice pack and he's was like get. that [ __ ] away from me he goes I got. this and he just wrapped it and was. moving around walking like doing as much. movement as humanly possible and he. literally was at practice the next day. and from that moment forward I was like. well I'm never icing my ankle again man. so that sounds like that's who you are. you're Simon you won with that when I I. switched I switched completely like I. don't want this is a medical advice for. anybody this is just what I did I used. to be the ice guy like the stem like all. that type of stuff I do believe in hiat. AQ is absolutely right on that hiac gets. all that swelling out beautiful yeah but.

I am now a wrap it up move it get that. thing I don't want it to stiffen up I. don't want it to be in a boot I don't. want it to be iced because as soon as it. locks up it's so difficult to unlock. again not medical advice just what I did. sounds like find some sand to walk on if. you can walk on some sand man that's the. best rehab you can do for your ankle. because you have to strengthen your. ankle while you're walking on Sand. because the instability right and that. kind of it's like all the little. stabilizers and stuff when you think. about all those uneven steps and pushing. yeah I think walking on Sand is the best.

up and that matters listen or if you go. to Ohio State you got trimesters. right uh I don't know they do something. different now than what I did we didn't. start school till like September 20th. when I was there okay Oregon's doing. that I think gumps you remember that. they they uh is it try I don't know if. it's. trimesters maybe it's trimesters I don't. know they had just gotten to school like. a week or two before like whatever week. we were there a lot of the Ivy Leagues. do that trimesters so you start late. start later and you end later yeah they. begin September 30th it says yeah most.

of the max schools and Ohio school like. School trimesters yeah and then you just. go into the summer yeah you go into. June yeah I wouldn't mind that at all we. were always staying anywhere for summer. school and workouts so yeah yeah we were. there year round what did Yukon do. semesters do you guys have past fail up. there uh what do you mean like class. yeah some classes yeah those are the. transition ones that don't play I well I. learned uh from Colin clor was his name. tight end from Brown University my draft.

class dog genius he had past fail. classes all brown every single Brown All. I've never been more frustrated whenever. we use a bathroom when where do we put a. class at or your. siblings different yeah how many how. many different areas do we have I don't. know how anybody did it but congrats to. the group that had to do that probably. still feeling the effects of that right. now yeah oh yeah. depends on which age cuz my kids were. doing it like elementary middle and once. they went back they were cool and in. Florida too so I feel like we went back. a little sooner and got re acclimated. but if you're if that was like your. senior year in high school it sucked.

that was my sister yeah yeah that I mean. crazy whole senior year gone and then. even into college like because the co. thing especially if it was your Junior. and senior right cuzz it was like two. years that's a lot of development there. sports situations yeah Sports a lot of. interaction with humans that you need. too to grow yeah as a human just fun. times we got to remember that for the. people at that generation whenever they. say things and we go this ain't your. fault. you you.
