A. meat.
The following program is a collection of. students talking about happenings in the. sports world. It is meant to be comedic,
informative. The opinions expressed on. this show do not necessarily reflect the. beliefs of their peers, their boss, or. ESPN. There may be some cuss words. because that's how humans in the real. world talk. If you are a young, please. seek permission before watching any. further. >> Hey, let's go. This show stinks and the fact that you. listen, we are very, very thankful for.
>> McAfee on the line with a gorgeous. assist. >> The alltime leading tackler for the. Green Bay Packers. You. >> stop. DAMN IT. >> BE A FRIEND. Tell a friend something. nice could change their life. >> Hello, beautiful people, and welcome to. our humble boat, the DraftKings. Thunderdome. on this big time Tuesday, October 6, 2026. This sports program. begins now.
>> FOOTBALL IS THE GREATEST. And last night. down in New Orleans, as they celebrated. 20 years of the Superdome reopening. after Katrina, they uh had a Falcons. team come to town for that celebration. And boy, from the third play on, it felt. like it was a pretty dominating. experience for the Atlanta Falcons. against the New Orleans Saints. Now, these Robinsons in the backfield for the. Atlanta Falcons might be unstoppable, especially because Bjon Robinson. Bejon. Robinson. >> Bejon Robinson.
>> Is it? >> I think you said it right. All three. times. All three. >> Bjon. >> I think Bjon, but he's okay with Bjon. >> So, that was a conversation before. Monday Night Countdown, you know, because Scott Vampel does his show uh in. DC. Jmack is in New York and. Connecticut. We're out here, you know, so there's different groups of. conversations all happening. So, I like. that we all got on the same page for the. show, but now that I wake up this. morning, I don't remember which page. that was that we were on. Nonetheless, he's unstoppable. This guy, just. watching him warm up and even jog out of.
the tunnel, he glides. I I He He is a. stallion that somehow has the nimbility. of uh. >> of a ninja, I would say. I I I think he. has the pullaway speed of a track star. He has the power in the balance of a. sumo wrestler somehow. And then he has. the vision of somebody that a mega mind. >> fighter jet. >> Yeah. Yeah. Fighter jet. Okay. One of. those. Yeah. One of the Yeah. Fighter. jet. He He sees these cuts early. Yeah. >> Seemingly sees the cuts early. He sets.
up his blocks. He has this sonar of. where dudes are as if he's a dolphin. Does he talk to the dolphin? He speaks. to the dolphin. He feels the dolphin. He's. >> He has every trait that you would want. in a running back. And it I mean, he's. pulling away from people as if he's. playing at a different level uh than. they are. It's a different video game. setting. It's a different uh age group. uh generation it feels like whenever an. older kid's playing against a younger. kid. This is a special talent. And then. Brian Robinson had three touchdowns last. night. This guy used to be the starter. for the Commander. So Bejian's going to.
ahead and dazzle you. He's going to. shake the [ __ ] out of you. That. offensive line, unbelievable. Jake. Matthews has 200 plus starts in a row. Absolute iron man. He ends up leaving. the game. They bring in a six offensive. lineman. He pummeles people as well. They're willing to do it. Kevin. Stfansky's offense, Nick Chub, we saw. him go crazy whenever he was in. Cleveland. We've seen him have a great. run game in the past. I think you pair. that with the fact that Penn can spin it. for real. And defenses are going to have. to respect that. Now, >> did the New Orleans Saints have a plan. for Bejon? We don't know. I I mean, we.
didn't look like we kind of do know. Yeah, Troy told us on the broadcast. >> Nine-year NFL vet Darius J. Butler is. here. Uh yeah, Troy did say like uh when. we were talking to Brandon Staley, he. sure sounded like he didn't really know. what they were going to do, but you do. think about that Atlanta Falcons offense. that was on full display. Obviously, they can pummel you and Bejon can make. magic and Brian can do that, but Penn's. Drake London's going insane, too, in. this particular offense. They are the. most high-powered offense that we've. seen in some time very quickly. Can they. only get better? And why do you think. PennX has been the key to kind of. activate it all? Because before Pennix.
was in there with I didn't say this. >> A lot of people have though. That's a. talks table at Boston Conor and at Kai. Schmidt. They uh probably were the ones. that sent me the things that were saying. this one half of the hammer Cowboys AP. tone against Pittsburgh Steelers. He. definitely. >> saw it. Yeah. >> And we're a big Mr. Kush fan. >> Oh yeah, >> we love Mr. Kush out there. >> But they were calling him Cooper Rush, man. They were saying. >> Cooper flush. >> Yeah. Oh. >> Yeah. Cooper didn't flush almost cuz the. dump was just sill. They were dumping on.
Cooper Kush who has had a great NFL. career. Saw him last night. Big lad. I. appreciate what Cooper Rush has done. throughout the entirety when he was at. Cowboys. We remember the incredible run. that he went on, but he was playing. terrible football with the Falcons. They. looked very bad and we had to start to. wonder like is Kevin Stfansky ever going. to get a guy at quarterback position? >> Penn I mean the big question mark, >> can he stay healthy? But if Penn's going. to stay healthy, this offense can keep. up with anybody, DB, is that what you. saw last night? >> Absolutely. We had the the tell of the. tape get popped up before the game. yesterday and it's kind of you know not.
real I guess because this is only the. second game with Penn at the helm and. yeah it's just a full offense full. control of an offense with those weapons. down the field Drake London when Kyle. Pittz whenever he actually gets involved. having that offensive line a when a was. here he spoken we kind of all spoke on. all the weapons and all the different. things that they have in place but yeah. when you have a quarterback that can. operate the system and the number. doesn't the numbers don't look gaudy. they don't look unbelievable but 15 for. 20, moving the ball down the field, then. a run game. When you have the run game, you can lead on. You talk about Bejan,
then having the guy that can come and. spell them. But Brian Robinson, I know. that is hell for a defender when you can. have a guy resting, catching his breath, and another guy running it down your. throat. You keep both of those horses. happy in the back field. This offense, man, I think this is just kind of. scratching the surface of what they can. be. And then on the defensive about side. of the ball, the compenry football on. that side as well, man, this could be a. very, very good football team as it goes. on. He looks like he's just skating, man. >> I mean, floating damn near 22 miles an. hour. That's unbelievable. >> Yeah, it was it was float.
>> He also super happy. It seems like he's. just such a jolly guy. It does feel like. they have that entire. >> uh kind of vibe on their sideline. We're. on that their side. Uh got a chance to. walk and walk around everything. happening in the warm-ups. It's like. just the vibes. It felt great. And then. talking to Stfansky, you know, let him. know we were live on air. We're live. We're live. He goes, "Okay, already." He. kind of walks away. I don't know what. that conversation was going to be. I got. a chance to catch up with him at a golf. tournament, you know, where you're not. allowed to have any phones and just. talking about the situation where, you.
know, how he felt he was in what we. certainly said about him, you know, and. what he heard and then obviously he had. gotten a job already with the Falcons at. that point in the same state where that. golf tournament is. So talking to him. about the current situation and how he. got it so quickly and how that was. mind-blowing to us. I mean like I he got. a job immediately and it was like so. >> the Browns were. >> good. I don't I don't I don't think I. understand why he got a job so quickly. >> Then you you really start looking at all. the quarterbacks now. He pushed Baker. Mayfield. Not just him. I think him and.
the Browns pushed Baker Mayfield out of. there after they won a playoff uh game. in Pittsburgh. As Cleveland Browns won a. playoff game in Pittsburgh, somehow. Baker Mayfield's a problem. He gets. pushed out of town. That's a mistake. I. think if you were to go back now, Grant. Baker maybe said I was a little. different person then as well, but you. look at the quarterbacks that Sansky has. had to operate with now since that. moment in his offensive system that he. is supposed to be a wizard at. It's like. I think he's been waiting and waiting. and waiting and waiting for a. quarterback that he could probably. operate with. >> He's got to be so pumped with what.
Pennix has done thus far because I don't. think any of us knew. I I think Pennix. has won on Monday Night Football game. last year uh on week six against the. Bills. So, he's had flashes of being. good, but then he gets injured. Flashes. of be being good, then he gets injured. Stfanso is like, "Okay, I got to keep. this guy healthy. I got to keep him. healthy. What can we do?" That run, run, run. Let's worry about the run game. here. Let's hopefully keep the pocket a. little bit loose. And then I got to give. him a weapon. I got to give him some. easy throws. They started that game like. a swing like something easy, quick. Let's let him get going. And when Penn. starts vibe, >> he can operate any offense. And if you. have a great run game, Connor, this.
Atlanta Falcons team in the offense, I. think, can continue to go. And then you. got big brick on the defensive side with. the DC. The Falcons might be for real. Now, >> there's another team in the NFC South. That's right. >> That might be for real as well. Good. football. >> It's been exciting to watch this. franchise, this city come all the way. back to life around ball. And obviously, uh, there's a lot of stories of. adversity throughout the NFL and people. that don't have things go exactly their. way early. And what are you going to do? Are you going to continue to go or you. going to back down or you just going to.
um put your head down and go to work? The man joining us right now has put his. head down and went to work. And what he. has created is a damn good NFL. quarterback. And what we saw the other. night was a spectacle of talent in a. football gumbo, if you will. Ladies and. gentlemen, the quarterback of the. Carolina Panthers, Bryce Young. >> What's up, dude? >> What's up? What's up? Thanks y'all for. uh for having me on. >> Okay, so last night Trombone and Shorty.
uh at Monday Night Football down in New. Orleans said he he classifies their. music as musical gumbo. So it's like. every different thing. I think you are. football gumbo. I I I I think you have. every trait of a football player, especially at the quarterback position. First of all, congratulations on the. night you guys had the other night and. where your team is now versus maybe a. couple years back whenever you get to. the Carolina Panthers. Can you tell me. about how you feel another year with. Canales, another year with T-Mac here? Obviously, you guys go crazy heading. into a buy this year as opposed to maybe.
years past with the Carolina Panthers. Bryce, >> yeah, I feel excited. Um, yeah, it's. been been great being able to be here, for us to grow um the way that we have. It's been it's been exciting. Um, and we. know there's a ton more work to do. Um, I have confidence in everyone in the. building. It's a great group of people. Um, the people that I get to work with, it's really a privilege. Uh, just the. energy that that's around the building. Uh, but again, we know we have a ton. more work to do. It's still early. So, we're excited for that process. >> Yeah. Early in the season, but I think. we can see some stuff with some teams.
that say, "Hey, they can they can go.". And then we see some stuff with some. other teams we go, hey, that team's ass. >> Yeah, they stink. >> Hey, and I I think a couple times, you. know, in the past there's been some. Carolina Panthers teams where Carolina. Panthers fans have seen early in the. year where they go, "Man, our team's. ass." Now there's a lot of hope down. there. Can you feel it from the city? We. saw the home playoff game last year. Place was packed out. It was. >> It was awesome to see the shot. It. looked like a gladiator type feeling.
there behind your back at the open of. that home playoff game. How does the. city feel and how have you kind of taken. in Charlotte as your home? >> Yeah. No, it's been great. Um, you know, it's an amazing amazing city in. Charlotte, the Carolinas as a whole. The. support, we all feel it. Um, we rally. around that. Being able to play at the. bank, uh, it's become a special. environment. Uh, we've had some some. special nights. Uh, other night just. that atmosphere, um, it's electric. Uh, but yeah, you definitely feel it. throughout the city. Um, and for us it's. it's our job to continue that, uh, to. keep building. Uh, and we we rally.
around the city in the same way they. rally around us. >> Yeah, they showed up for you in a big. way. And from my understanding, that is. a good home field advantage if the team. is worth it. Sure. By the way, >> how old are you right now, Bryce? >> Uh, 25. >> So, young. >> Dang. Golly. Modern SC. You don't take. care of yourself, right? You You eat. like [ __ ] You eat like [ __ ] Don't do. much. >> Nah. No, definitely not. I'm I'm on it. I try to be as healthy as possible. >> 15 more years. >> at least.
>> So maybe 20 years with the way science. is. I can't wait to watch it all. Especially as feels like you're just. getting comfortable. Can you tell us a. little bit uh cuz your size, you're not. 6'4. We're not saying anything anybody. doesn't know. >> Okay. But with your size, there is some. [ __ ] that comes to that. And obviously. pocket maneuvering and such is a big. part of that. That sense of feel was. something that they said you had coming. out of college. We third and 14. I mean, you just uh you roll to your right, smoothly, get out of there, offbalance, absolute laser to T-Mac, where only he.
can catch it. That sense of feel in the. pocket in the NFL, everybody faster on. the D line. Like, have you had to evolve. in that aspect? Do you feel like that is. just something you've always had? And. how does it feel now in this stage of. your career in the NFL versus maybe a. couple years back where maybe things did. feel bigger, faster for you? Yeah, I think uh really it's just just. more mastery of of our stuff. Um you. know, we talk about it here, just just. trying to master our world. Um and I. think being in the system for as long as.
I have been. Uh it's nice. So I think. that operationally has made everything. easier. That that's really the part that. that slows things down. Um, and then, you know, we we work on it throughout. But, uh, yeah, I try to make sure I do. as as as minimal in the possible, uh, in. the pocket as possible when it's that. time. And then when it's time to escape. or, uh, you know, have a little bit more. movement, uh, make sure I'm able to do. that, too. Um, but it's kind of just, uh, I don't know, it's kind of reaction. You look downfield, obviously, you have. to process and try to get the, you know,
keep your eyes downfield, make sure that. you're trying to get the ball to your. guys, and then, uh, you kind of feel. everything out. So, uh, having reps, having a great O line, obviously, um, is. huge. I I trust them. And then having. the playmakers we have, they they make. my job easier. >> All right. So, if I ever get dropped in. an NFL game, it'll just come naturally. That's what I say. I have a sense of. feeling, mastery of what we're doing. Hopefully, I'll be able to figure that. out. Speaking of mastery, a lot of new. voices. Go ahead, Debb. >> Yeah. I mean, mastery, when I'm watching. the game, it looks like you're playing. and thinking so fast, so comfortable. What's it been like working with Bradic,
the new play caller? What's kind of your. input been with the play calls and like. what at what point in the game week are. you comfortable completely comfortable. with the game plan? >> Yeah. Um being with Brad's been been. great. Um you know he's been he's been. huge uh this whole time here the all all. three years he's been huge behind the. scenes and uh you know drawing up a lot. of the plays but him now calling it um. just his feel uh his his collaboration. has been great too. He's someone who who. wants to have those conversations on the. sideline throughout the week. He wants.
uh my input. He wants all of our input. Um we're able to have a ton of. conversations and it it shows up on on. Sundays. Um and uh just yeah, his his. feel for everything, his his pacing. Um. him in the headset. It's been it's been. great. Um and throughout the week, it's. it's a collaborative process. Uh try to. get as much of that stuff done early uh. Mondays and Tuesdays, you know, before. we're we're out there practicing. And. then once you get reps, you know, we're. we're having those conversations. All. right, this feels good. maybe we could. add this or we could take this out.
Stuff like that. So, um you know, really. before probably before like Saturday. morning, that's when you really like put. a ball on it. You know, everything's. good. Um and uh yeah, it's been been a. great process. I'm excited for us to to. keep building. >> And Bryce, kind of just quick follow. Uh. how are you as as a quarterback? Are you. the guy that wants to coach in your ear. all the way up until the 15 second mark? You kind of like, "Hey, get it in and. kind of get out and let me think through. this and work through it." Yeah, I'm I'm. more just kind of yeah, just just just. give me the play and and really because.
of that, it's because of the. conversations we have throughout the. week. Um, you know, we we talk about all. the little things whenever we uh you. know, we're installing stuff. He's given. me his intent for the play. Um, you. know, there are certain things that I'm. telling him, okay, on this I think I'm. going to, you know, uh, whatever it may. be, those little details. So, we do all. that, enough of that throughout the week. to where on Sundays it's just, you know, just the play call. um you know, I I'll. communicate the the plan, whatever we. need to to the huddle and then we go. back on the sideline and um Brad and. everyone in the team, they do a great.
job being able to make adjustments. there. Um being able to go and tell uh. our receivers, tell the guys the the O. line, hey, we're going to add this, hey, we're going to change this. Even though. we talked about this all week, we're. going to do something different. Uh. that's not easy to do and my teammates. do a great job with that. Um so, uh. that's definitely a privilege. >> Yeah. have to have smart players to be. able to adjust on the fly, especially. whenever 11 people have to operate in. the same way for there to be any. success. We talked about Jaylen Herz a. couple weeks ago. He had 10 different. play callers in 11 years going back to. his college and I should have done the.
math for you in college. I assume you. had a couple, but you you've at least. had four different play callers since. you've gotten to the Panthers. Two in. one year and then Dave Canales and then. now ID. What What is the difference? What should we talk about? like so I. could be a little bit more informed. commentator on this because obviously. >> I I was calling my own my own plays out. there. Okay. >> Okay. We're putting this Yeah. Okay. That's what I was doing. Uh you know, that's what we used to do back in the. day in the dirt. You know, we're putting. this thing that way. Okay. But for you. and for Jaylen and for all quarterbacks,
what is the the little things you either. have to pick up with a new person or. kind of figure out with the new person? What What is the difference there? >> Yeah, there's a lot of little nuances. Um yeah, play intent I think is a big. thing. Um being on the same page, you. can get um a call and obviously, you. know, if you're passing the ball, there. going to be multiple people on routes. Us uh understanding, all right, on this, hey, it's it's third and one, but we're. going for it. So, you know, this is a. time to take a risk or this is third and.
one, but we're just trying to move the. sticks. If not, we're punting. Stuff. like that. Hey, the go on this is alive. or the go is a runoff so we can take. something underneath. um the times you. want to go fast, the times you wanna um. all right, we're going to take all of. our time, make sure we're perfect in. this play, we're blocked up. Um that. stuff that's kind of like uh it's you. don't have that much time to communicate. all that in a game. So, you have to. develop that through the week and it's. it's chemistry, understanding each. other. Um and then really just that. rapport too, like throughout the week. Um all right, you them knowing uh you.
know, Brad kind of knowing the stuff. that I'm going to like, me knowing when. I talk to him, the stuff that he's. getting out. Uh. >> oh. >> Gee. >> All right. I thought Brad was like, "Enough. Enough. We don't need them to. know all of our [ __ ] right now.". >> Yeah. The stuff that uh um you know, the. stuff that you know, we we both are. trying to get at. Um you know, the. little tendencies that we want to uh you. know, keep people honest on, little. things like that. So, uh I think it's. probably from the outside looking in, how much meeting time and how much stuff.
uh outside of being on the field. Um. there's so much time spent between uh. you know all positions, but especially a. quarterback and a play caller. Um so. it's just that relationship, that. rapport, the amount of time to be on the. same page uh adds that extra layer of. confidence um and that that extra layer. of of communication is as and brevity, which is a word that Brad likes to bring. up for the room uh that uh we we try to. play with. >> I like good brevity out there. I mean. anytime that brings some levity, you.
know, and uh there's a bevy of things. you could say about this particular. relationship, but all of them are law. upon trust. It feels like feels like you. got to have a great relationship and uh. you're both putting each other in the. best position and that has to be decided. with I don't know billions of dollars on. the line, everybody on the line and a. play clock that is non-stop and does not. care about your relationship at that. exact moment. So, we can assume that you. and Brad are only going to continue to. grow, which is great news because of how. you looked the other night. Let's talk. about how you looked the other night and. this season in general. There is a guy.
that's on television 24 hours a day. talking about ball. This is not him. This is Tone asking a question though. >> Yeah, Bryce. The guy that Pat is talking. about is Dan Orlosski. He was in the. league playing quarterback for a bit. Uh. he said yesterday when watching your. >> Do you know who Dan Orlovski is? Do you. know? >> Yeah, of course. >> COME ON. >> WE DON'T LIKE to assume. It's a fair. question. Fair question you guys are. asking. >> But he said he said yesterday on the. show, it feels like the ball is jumping. out of your hand. maybe a little bit. more this season like that your arm is.
actually getting stronger which is a. rarity for a quarterback once he hits. the NFL. Is that a thing that maybe is. actually true and that something that. you worked on in the offseason or is. that just something that is looking like. is happening on tape right now? >> Um yeah, I mean I' I've always felt the. the same since I' I've been out here. Um. uh you know you're always trying to. fine-tune some things throughout the off. season and uh you know we're always. trying to chase our best. I'm always. trying to chase my best. So, uh I want. to be consistent with that. Um but yeah,
always felt the same. Um and then I I. just have so much confidence in the guys. around me. Um we have a great group of. guys. Um so, uh Yeah. Yeah. I'm I'm. always leaning on that. >> You said Dan's lying. >> Yeah. Actually, that guy doesn't know. [ __ ]. >> That's what I say. I heard it. He didn't. say his It was in there, >> you know, but he he was trying to So. Dan's just maybe watching film on Bryce. for the first time. >> Yeah. Yeah. Is that Is that. >> That's what it sounds like. >> Is that Is that what we're thinking? >> Dan Dan coined Steph Curry.
>> Yeah, >> he did. >> He coined that that phrase that turn. he's watch. Come on now. >> You're right. >> He is a big Bryce Young fan. He's a big. fan of yours. He's going to be bummed. out to hear that maybe he had a misread. on that. But it does look I think that. third and 14 had us all thinking, "Holy. [ __ ] this guy's got a Howitzer." That. >> that that ball. Hey, you watch this back. I assume postgame with the lads. hopefully and the family and everybody. said holy [ __ ] I mean that's third. that's third and 14 in the fourth. quarter up six. Can Barry lose you could. lose this game. I mean this could be a.
miserable night if this play doesn't. happen in this exact moment. And the. question is now the guy that caught that. ball seems outrageous. Go ahead Ty. Yeah, Bryce T-Mac has been I mean he was. great last year, but Sunday night, you. know, did kind of seem like his, you. know, national moment coming into the. spotlight. What has uh you guys. relationship and kind of rapport. development been like? It was weird when. he got drafted. I feel like there were, you know, some people in the media tried. to say like, "Oh, this guy doesn't. really love ball that much." And like. they thought it might be an issue. And. clearly, ever since he's got there, he's.
been unbelievable. And it feels like you. truly do have a a number one guy who you. can rely on. Uh what's you guys'. relationship been like and did you know. you know kind of in the offseason going. into this season like oh man he's poised. to have a massive year? >> Yeah. Yeah. Team special. Um so much. stuff you can't teach. Um the the way. that he thinks about the game, approaches a game. Um it's special. Um. yeah. I think that also really this. offseason I I I've uh you know I've.
known him for a while. We actually. played against each other in high. school. So, I've always followed him and. and and known he's been special, but I. think this off seasonason was just. another level um of respect that I I. have for him and his game. Uh for him to. go out, have a great rookie year, obviously uh rookie of the year. Um it. could have been easy for him to go into. the offseason and just like, you know, just just sing his own praises, be like, I'm good, you know, I got this NFL thing. figured out, not work hard, but it's. around him a lot. and the amount of work. he put in, the amount of attention to.
detail he had, uh, the strain he had. Um, you know, it was stuff that, and it. wasn't him, you know, in front of a. bunch of cameras showing the world. It's. just stuff that, you know, I got the. privilege to see cuz I was around him. Um, you know, he he was grinding. And. again, it's the mindset like he was, you. could ask him about his rookie year and. it's like, "Oh, yeah." And he'd be like, "Ah, like I I this is what I want to. improve on. I want to get better at. this." Um, and he takes that approach. every single day. Um, you know, he comes. in and works, puts his head down, grinds, uh, practice, uh, he's always.
trying to, uh, strive for the best on. the side, get extra reps in. Uh, if. there's something doesn't go well, uh, we don't connect on something in. practice. He's not just, oh, whatever. It's coming. All right. What do you. think about this? Let's get it on the. side. Let's let's work on it. Um, and. again, all that stuff is is special. So, um, yeah, I mean, I'm I'm I'm just. grateful he's with us. Yeah, I that the. sounds of a quarterback singing his. number one wide receivers's praises like. that is a beautiful thing if you're a. Panthers fan because obviously that. since the beginning of time a number one.
QB and a number one wide receiver have. been able to carry teams to the highest. of highs. as we think back to the past. and everything you just said there about. T-Mac is so interesting cuz coming out. of college he didn't love ball remember. that was the thing he didn't love ball. that was the narrative about him and I. assume he heard that and then there was. a narrative about you too you were a. bust you weren't going to be able to. make it your generation you're 25 I mean. you're definitely young you're old. though too to some you know so. >> yeah I mean up there. >> all right okay you need to go yeah dude.
I walked around Disney World the other. day and my whole body is cramping. You. know, that's what life is. That's what. life is as you get there. Your. generation though has kind of grown up. in hearing everything that's said about. you. Or. >> h how cuz we were told don't read it. But that's when there's like three. newspapers in the entire city and it's. like hey don't read the press clip. It's. like cool. I would never look at a. newspaper. You got it. I I won't see a. damn thing. Now it's like forced upon. you. All these things that kind of got. casted at you obviously whenever things. happen at the beginning of this and then.
a T-MAC has got on the ball. You have to. hear it. Do you rally around that your. generation? Do you just understand. that's life? Like, how do you kind of. view it as this next generation of. franchise quarterback that has grown up. in this entire world that we currently. call home now? >> Yeah. I mean, I don't want to speak for. everyone generation, but uh. >> No. Yeah. Yeah. You're speaking for a. whole [ __ ] generation right now. Good. luck. Give him a full screen here. Put. this on his shoulders. Listen, No, I'm. joking. >> Yeah. I mean, we're definitely um Yeah, we're definitely uh just, you know,
you're you grow up with it. Obviously, you're more predisposed to it. Um, and. it's part of life. Uh, me personally, I'm like I I'm not on social media. I. don't go on there. So, it probably is a. little easier for me to avoid stuff um. than probably most uh good or bad. But, uh, you know, for me, honestly, I'm big. in my faith. Uh, that's why I I draw my. purpose from there. Um, you know, so. good or bad, I I try to let that like be. my guiding light. Um, I I trust a lot of. people around me. Um, I'm definitely not. I'm not too too too big to learn or to.
to, you know, take in criticism, but I'm. selective of who that, you know, who I'm. going to listen to. Um, the people in. this building, um, the people that that. I trust and I have rapport with, those. are the the people that, you know, if. they have a criticism, they there's. something that, you know, feels like I. need to get better at, then that's what. I, you know, that's what I value. That's. what I listen to. Um, you know, I do. everything for for this building. Um, if. it's someone who has an opinion outside, again, good or bad, um, you know, I'm. grateful for the engagement. Um, you. know, the sport's so big because people.
care like that. But, uh, me personally, um, probably not really going to put. anything into it, uh, or or or engage. But, uh, yeah, that's just my approach. Uh, and then, yeah, I'm sure our entire. generation, we we all have, yeah, a lot. more a lot more time with it. I think. our generation can learn a lot from your. generation if you are representing the. entire generation. Hey, I'm not wasting. any energy on you, buddy. Okay? It's. hard. It's hard for me to do that. Uh I. got a lot of people that are much. smarter than you. Uh that I trust a lot.
more that I take a lot more ownership of. their That's like a 50-year-old wisdom. right there, bro. you you are. Hey, what. a perfect franchise quarterback, especially with everything that you've. gone through already, the adversity, and. then now a team with Morgan and Ter and. Canales and you all growing in a city. that loves ball. Special stuff feels. like it's brewing down there. >> Morgan, cut that check. >> Yeah. Oh, yeah. And we're about close to. that time. >> It's time. >> Well, we're about close to that time.
>> And every interview he does, I think. going forward, that number's only going. up. Yep. >> Yeah. Congrats to you on all of that. You've earned it all. You talked about. people that are in your circle that you. obviously have trust for. Connor has a. question for you. >> Yeah, Bryce, before Carolina, you're. obviously a Alabama legend and Nick. Sabin's got his doc coming out. I. believe you're in it. Um, what does he. mean for you as far as a football. player? How has he helped you kind of. progress from, you know, high school to. legend at Bama to now? And did you reach. out to him and talk to him when you had. those early struggles in Carolina? And.
what is kind of your relationship today. with him? >> Yeah. Um, no, he's helped me a ton um, as a player. um as a leader, as a. person. Um being able to go to Bama and. just him set that standard, just to be. able to learn from him, watch how he. operated, watch how he cultivated a um. just an environment. Um all the little. habits um being able to study that for 3. years, that's invaluable. Um and yeah, actually I before I even got to reach. out to him, he reached out to me um when. everything was going on and uh and he.
was and you know, that's the the person. he is. He he cares about his players. um. he was there for support um and advice. Um I've been able to talk to him uh you. know multiple times since and um he's. always there and supporting um he's. always always watching uh always keeping. up and obviously to have um you know the. the best coach to to ever do it um you. know have have that support and have. that advice and just h have that as a. resource. Um yeah, I mean I'm I'm super. grateful. >> You gonna watch the dock?
>> Yeah. Yeah, of course. Of course. Yeah, I'm I'm super grateful that I got to be. a part of it. Um, >> how was it? How was it? Did you feel. like they were setting you up for gotcha. questions or did you How did you. >> No, it wasn't bad. It was actually a. while ago. I want to say they asked me. like before last season. Uh, which like. just shows how much work has been going. into it. Like they've been working on it. for a while. Um, so, uh, yeah. No, I'm. excited for the world to see. >> Sick. >> That's Thursday, I believe. Six or seven. part series. uh Sabin's last dance, if.
you will, as they celebrate the greatest. college football coach of all. Oh, there. you were. I just saw you, Paul. You look. You did look younger than me. >> Yeah, you looked a little younger than. Oh, no. NFL years passing. >> Ah, no age me. >> Yeah, old. >> I did that a couple of times uh in this. convo. All right, enjoy your by-week. Thank you for joining us. Good luck the. rest of the way. Tell everybody we said. hello. >> For sure. No, thanks for having me. I. really appreciate it. >> All right, man. We We'll tweet. You. won't see it. >> Yeah, whatever. K2, you're the man.
Ladies and gentlemen, Bryce Young. >> Yeah, Bryce. >> Is he a 60-year-old? >> What was that? >> Awesome. Very mature. >> Unbelievable. >> Yeah. Like I'm sure you have good uh. thoughts and opinions. I like the. engagement. That's why. >> that's why the league. >> like understand all the right elder. answers. >> Oh, all like thinking about the. promotion of the league. Okay. It's good. that you have those thoughts. I'm happy. you're emotional. We like those types of. emotions. Now, I'm just going to go. ahead and keep it moving this way cuz. the the building. How about how many.
times he talked about the building? Yeah. >> Think about Panthers fans hearing that. He got benched there. You could see how. a modern athlete could get incredibly. jaded and upset. Get me out of here. Number one overall pick. Yeah, right. You're going to bench me? >> I don't think so. I want to go somewhere. else. Could have caused a lot of [ __ ]. Could have caused a lot of drama. Could. have forced his way out to another team. that would have been certainly t open to. having him for what, third round, second. round. he could get a good deal on him. He could have done all those things. >> Instead, sat there, watched Andy Dalton,
the Red Rocket play quarterback. Kind of. learned and for the first time didn't. have the pressure of being the guy maybe. in his entire life. I I was just. reminded that he was a high school. He. was on TV in high school, too. They were. covering him as a high school. quarterback. It's like he has been the. guy and in on top of the world with the. pressure of the world on him since he's. 17 years old. So for a time to just kind. of reset, take a step back, kind of. re-evaluate who he is, what he is, and. then to come back on the other side and. play the way he's playing, that's a. beautiful American dream story,
especially in our sport. >> Oh yeah. And you talk about obviously. from a global standpoint or obviously. number one sport in the country but even. for his team for his organization like. he's in some ways following Cam Newton. who was the the biggest kind of star you. know one of the biggest stars in the. league but definitely for the Panthers. being an MVP uh taking that team uh to a. Super Bowl and just I was there for a. year for Cam's rookie year actually and. just the whole vibe he had around that. stadium and that city. So now Bryce kind. of bringing that energy back, being a.
part of a big part of that, being a. starting quarterback, being a franchise. quarterback. So pressure within that. building to get back because the. Panthers are, you know, relatively young. organization, but they've been to a. Super Bowl now twice already. You know, had great runs with um with Smitty, the. early runs, then the Cam era, and now. you're kind of in that Bryce Young era, and they're, you know, we talked about. Penn before coming on. Obviously Shuck. looks like he's going to be around as. well. So it's kind of like a young. little nucleus of quarterbacks and teams. in that NFC South right now. It should. be exciting. What do they do? Uptown, not downtown. Is that. >> uptown? >> And what do they call it? The Queen.
>> Queen City. >> Queen City. >> Charlotte's a good town. It's a great. town. >> Happy hour town. >> They got a lot of banking and [ __ ]. >> So, uh, a lot of rooftop happy hour. things. Yeah. >> The dream. >> Yeah. But then everything's empty about. 8:30. 8:00, 8:30, that city is basically. emptied out. And then we're back. tomorrow at happy hour. Everybody's. excited to be out of our out of our It's. a good city. I've been down there a lot. Great how at the moon down there. M. great out at the. >> big time hub for American Airlines as. well. >> Well, so easy to get in and out of.
>> Exactly. And then also, Yep. Bingo. You. want to go see some cars burn some. rubber down there around. Uh joining us. now, former quarterback in the NFL. We've seen the tape of him getting cut. >> Mhm. >> Yeah. >> Haven't we? We all have. >> Hate seeing it. It was unfortunate. >> Former teammate, >> but it kind of led him to where he is. today. >> That's right. >> A super genius man is the head coach of. the undefeated Minnesota Vikings. Ladies. and gentlemen, Kevin O'Connell. >> How we doing, man?
>> How many times are we gonna talk about. me getting tough, man? >> Well, it's just a nice reminder that. everybody goes through something. You. know, we're all from somewhere. We just. want to tell people that you you've been. in that seat before when you were told. you weren't good enough after getting to. the highest level. So, we just want to, you know, let people know who we're. talking to here. This it's not just a. great jawline, you know, it's not just a. phenomenal jawline. It's not just a. great, you know, offensive strategy, which we got to get into. Okay. Which we. definitely got to get into. This is. former player who's done great. So,
we're incredibly proud of the fact that. you are a former player that's now a. head coach. Let's talk about it. Your. team's undefeated. And I assume the way. you look at it is we can only get. better. That has to be a great place to. be. How do you view your spot right now. as one of the only undefeated teams left. in the NFL? Yeah, Pat, coming into this year, you. know, really kind of uh viewed the early. part of this season as we were going to. be learning uh about uh what kind of. football team we had, but at the same.
time, we kind of learned towards the. tail end of last year, you know, some. concrete principles that uh would matter. for our team. And we needed to do those. to start the season to give ourselves a. chance to get off to a good start in the. win column, which was protect the. football, force turnovers, uh possess. the ball, um and and uh you know, allow. our defense, which is uh coming into the. year what I felt would be the strength. of our team. We've gotten great kicking. game performances as well, not only from. Will Riker, but our our return game and. our coverage units. Uh we're just.
playing good, smart football right now. Now, the next phase is, as you mentioned. it or alluded to, um I do think we've. the continued evolution and growth of. the 2026 version of our offense. We want. to continue to be more consistent. Uh. get Kyler as comfortable as possible and. build on um some things from the other. day that I thought were some real. positives for him and our offense spec. specifically in the second half. Um, and. now we, you know, have to go try to do. those things on the road at a really.
hard place to go play that, you know, well, from last night at the Superdome. U, but I'm happy with where our team's. at. Uh, but we've gotten off to good. starts before in other seasons that I've. I've been here as the head coach and, uh, the mindset is a continual growth, continuing to try to become, uh, the. best version of this team as we press. onward, uh, you know, versus a. challenging schedule that's out in front. of us starting this week against New. Orleans. I love the transparency of what I was. alluding to. Yes, I I think you got a.
pretty good read on what I was alluding. to about the offense. There's a lot of. stats talking about that. But I think. >> the way we view you is you could put. Boston Connor at quarterback and Kevin. O'Connell will be able to figure out a. way to get a win because that is what. you had done in the past. And then. obviously Sam Darnold run goes crazy. Last year is what it is. You make the. decision go with Kyler early in training. camp. It felt like there was a. competition that we were learning about. What is it about Kyler that you love to. see in your offense? And what do you.
envision for Kyler in your offense both. now and when you signed him to the. Minnesota Vikings? >> Yeah, I think Kyler's, you know, talent, you know, both as a passer and, you. know, obviously his athletic ability to. play within and and out of the pocket. Um, you know, it's something that we, you know, saw early on from the first. few days when he got here in the spring. to what progressed throughout training. camp. Uh, I think as we've gotten into. the season, knowing that, you know, he's. really in a position where I think he's.
played 150 snaps, missing a little time. after only getting 11 snaps in the. opener, you you hope you just get a. smooth transition in that build, uh, you. know, each and every drive from the time. the season starts up until uh, you know, week five as we're in. But he got he. played his second complete game uh of. the season at home the other day and and. I thought really started to come to life. anticipating you know activating some. throws to you know TJ Hawinson all 13 of.
the targets to TJ were uh completions. and impactful plays got Addison going in. the middle of the field as well. So um I. think we've seen bits and pieces of what. we want our offense to look like. Uh. I've got to do a better job, you know, correcting some of these, you know, pre-. snap early down penalties and negative. plays that are forcing us into some. third and longs early on in games. Uh. which is limiting our ability to find a. rhythm. Um which we were able to do as. the game went on the other day. Um but. the only other thing I would just say is.
um you know I I think there was a time. and a place uh where statistically you. know you're trying to hunt those big. plays and they help you win and they do. Explosives are a huge factor for for. winning games. But I think, you know, staying committed to running the. football, staying committed to, you. know, playing a type of offensive. football where we do protect it. I think. we're third or fourth in the league in. the fewest amount of turnovers. We're. trying to make sure um no matter what, we are setting the stage in the table. for our team to play four quarters and.
find a way to win without doing some. things that quite frankly, you know, hurt NFL teams chances to win. uh. because you do those things before you. ever give yourself a chance to win and. our teams learn that. I think there's a. maturity that comes with that uh that. you can only gain by experience and and. I'm talking about myself as much as. anybody. Uh but at the same time, to get. to where we want to go and to truly. compete with the elite teams in this. league, we're going to need to play. better on offense. And we know that uh. our players know that uh they they can.
watch the tape and see, hey, we're. really not that far off, but the detail, the urgency, the understanding that we. are in it. And uh when you're in the. season and looking to find that. consistency, every minute matters, every. practice day matters, every walkthrough. matters. And then let's take it to the. game and start to see it come to. fruition a little bit more consistently. for the greater good of where I think. this team's going. Sounds like the way you want your. offense to be right now is let's not. mess this up for the defense that we.
have. Okay? Our defense is going to keep. us in every single game. Our defense is. going to beat everybody. We need to not. turn the ball over. We need to not put. them into bad positions. And in the. fourth quarter, we need to go win these. games. Patrick Mahomes talked about this. the last Super Bowl that they won. because Spagnolo's defense, he said he. had 11 quarterbacks, 11 green dots on. the field. Patrick Mahomes came out and. said, "I actually had to learn how to be. like, "Yeah, we can punt here. Yeah, we. can run the ball more. He was doing that. during the season because they could. rely on the defense. You said coming. into this season, you knew the defense.
was going to be the strong point of your. team. And it sounds like you've had to. evolve a bit as you the way you view it, not just everybody else on the field. because you admitted that yourself. there. >> Is that real? Is that a real thought. coming the year? It's like, hey, our. defense is going to be unbelievable with. Be. We need to change the style or. change the way we think about what an. offensive possession should look like or. how it should end. Yeah, I think there's a couple things. with that. First of all, you get to a. point, uh, you know, as a head coach. where, you know, the only thing, you. know, Bud Grant, you know, God rest his.
soul, he taught me the first year that I. was the head coach of the Vikings, you. know, I'd meet with him every week and. early early on, you know, coming off of. a Super Bowl in LA and and having all. kinds of ideas for an offense and how we. were going to play, you know, he very. simply just said, "The goal is to have. more points than your opponent on a. Sunday and then you worry about the next. one next." and I kind of laughed it off, but you do this job long enough and you. know, um there's certain decisions you. make throughout the game, uh certain, you know, decisions you make throughout. the week putting together a game plan.
Uh what's it going to take to win the. game? What's the best uh avenue to, you. know, take to go do that? And for us, our defense, our defense playing uh in. close football games with the the type. of scheme and the type of adjustments. and the type of attack mode that they. can be in that wears on opponents and uh. you know, especially learning uh the way. that in a given moment like we saw in. the opener, you know, there can be an. absolute avalanche uh for an opponent of. negative football with the way we play.
defensively. you stack that with what. we've done in the kicking game and. knowing that Will Riker can ring the. bell and get you three points from. anywhere in the gym. Like you just have. to evaluate how to coach those games all. while knowing that what you are today. Uh you know, I've learned this in a. couple seasons where we've uh. specifically had a ton of success, but. what were we really when it mattered the. most? We want to progressively build to. that. Um and if we can win every game. along the way, sure, let's do it. Um, that's the goal to win a game every week.
that you get afforded an opportunity to. play in this league. But we have a lot. of confidence within this building of. where we can get to. Now, that's all uh. just words and and uh coach speak until. it actually comes to life. And uh I'm. I'm excited about the the challenge of. chasing it. You know, specifically with. our offensive group every week uh all. while knowing that locker room, everybody is forged together in a way. where they know the goal. They know. whatever it's going to take to win a. game is going to be what we do. And that. can look a lot different each and every.
Sunday. And and I think we're prepared. for that. Um and I'm excited to keep. chasing these wins. >> One point more than the opponent and. then we'll worry about the next one. >> Yep. >> What a piece of advice for a sport that. involves. >> Good. Really good. >> It is pretty good. So simple. >> Hey, you're right. I guess we all keep. our jobs. Everybody's happy. Yeah. We. just win the game. >> Oh, yeah. >> All right. Let's try to do that. Now, winning the game can come in different. ways, especially in modern world. You.
know, you don't score a touchdown, things don't happen. People start. wondering, but it sounds like the. culture is want to just get in a dub. Debut has a question for you, coach. >> Yeah, great great seeing you, coach, especially here undefeated. I got all. the confidence in the world that you. guys will figure it out on offense, start putting those points up. You. talked about penalties, uh, time. management, all these different things. about winning games. TJ Hawinson, he. went down without scoring a touchdown. He drew up a beautiful play. Was this a. conversation you had with him uh before. him? Because a lot of fantasy managers, a lot of same game parlay parlay better.
pissed off right now. What was the. conversation with TJ? Obviously smart. football right play win the ball game. But was there a conversation between you. and TJ? >> That was debut. You you know you're. familiar. You get into that point in the. game and you know a first down ends it. and you can kneel it out from there. That was by far uh the hardest uh you. know, we call that Rolex. That was the. hardest Rolex uh decision to make since. I've been a head coach. Just knowing uh.
that you know, really really smart. people like Pat are going to talk about. how we didn't score a touchdown IN THE. GAME. >> NO. FIRST DOWN WITH TWO MINUTES, no. timeouts, we win the game. I know the. numbers. >> But but let's just put it this way. Our. defense played a lot of snaps. We've. seen that. They played 41 uh on Sunday. against the Miami Dolphins. we go in the. end zone right there. You're probably. looking at at least, you know, another, you know, potential two-minute drive. where some really important players that. have played a lot of football, um, you. know, go back on the field for defense.
We've been hit with the injury bug on. offense, which is never excuse, but to. get those guys 41 snaps and and some. real good football on the defensive side. like they've done all year. Um, if it. means, you know, having to uh, you know, we know exactly what that play was. designed to do. We know uh I told our. offense if you want to score do it. earlier uh and don't put yourself in. that situation where we got to you know. go down but how about TJ man at the end. of that day uh to go down like that and. do what's best for the football team. Um.
I I felt it in the stadium. I'm sure uh. I I would have felt it uh you know far. and wide with some of the implications. that you mentioned but u you know but uh. that's part of our game and uh you know. not exactly hanging the 1510 score on. the mantle at home but I will take a 4-0. season to start. >> Definitely take a 4-0 season to start. And for people that don't know I think. it's a good time to tell them two. minutes left. If the other team has no. timeouts you have a first down game. over. That is that is that since uh.
beginning of the new modern timeout. rules, that is the goal for everybody to. get to. >> Keep Vanoi old ass on the sideline. >> He's got ice on both those knees. Both. those knees got ice too. >> I don't know how this guy's still doing. what he's doing. They they got something. going over there cuz what they're. blitzing more than anybody. >> Oh yeah, they're playing they're. playing. >> How does that They beat your ass in. practice. How's that go? You got to call. him off. How does that go in practice. with Blo and the way he operates?
The fun part about it is like every. single week I wait to see, you know, what people's plan uh against it is. going to be because we've tried just. about everything. Uh we, you know, we've. had every uh you know, every person. besides the quarterback, I think, throw. a block to try to to try to protect from. some of those blitzes or try to get some. runs off. It's it's a really really. dynamic scheme that you know just does. uh you know does a world of hurt from a. standpoint of just the mental warfare of. every snap. You can't take one snap for.
granted playing against those guys. And. um you know in year in year four you. know of the evolution of it, the type of. adjustments and the quick fixes they can. make based upon how you try to you know. go about attacking them. It's it's so. impressive what those guys are able to. do and it's it's become a real weapon. for us to go win. >> And some Yeah. Some of those old ass. guys that we mentioned, it it helps cuz. you watch the tape and it's like they're. the the pattern matches the pattern.
reads. They're obviously prepared for. what teams are running. So, not only are. they running blitzes, maybe they only. send five or maybe just send four, but. the guys are dropping out and looking up. like every route. So, you stop the route. when the you stop the tape when the. quarterback's at top of the drop. Even. if they if they're protecting, nobody's. open. So then you just start to go like. uh KC said that mental warfare like so. yeah blitzing is one thing but when you. have the blitz and then on the back end. especially as a DB when I'm not asked. out and zero coverage for 60 snaps that. makes it a lot better but it it's ugly. right now. It's tough to figure out. >> The highest blitz rate there's a hembo.
stat. The highest blitz rate for any. defense in a season since ESPN began. tracking 2006 is 52.4% by the 2009 Jets. Rex Ryan and the boys. The Vikings are. blitzing their opponents 68% of the drop. backs this season. Mental warfare is. what the head coach of that team says. This is uh every single snap that. quarterback. Go ahead. >> Maybe the reason for that is that famous. clip that you talk about of me being. released took place uh at the end of. that training camp. I eventually went.
back there. U but uh but yeah, that is. an interesting stat to see. Maybe that's. why uh we've we've become what we've. become here to uh despite the 2009 Jets. How about you? I couldn't figure it out. >> They made it to the AFC Championship. that 2009 Jeff St. >> Yeah. >> I can't remember who they lost. >> Who' they lose to? >> Steelers. Oh, it was the Steelers, >> was it? >> Yep. >> Unbelievable. >> No. No, it was not. It was the. Indianapolis Colts.
>> OH, THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? >> OH, that must have been 08. >> Was that the team that we let you guys. in? If you do recall uh the end of that. season, the Indianapolis Colts, I was a. rookie punter who didn't know how to. punt. I could not believe I was there. I. was enjoying every moment. Just know. that. And uh but they chose to lose the. last two games. We benched everybody. That was a Bill Poland decision. We're. 14-0 going into the last two games and. they benched everybody and we let the. Jets in. The Jets beat us one of those.
games. Let the Jets in. Then the Jets. get hot. >> Yeah. Beat the Pat. >> and then all of a sudden it's like you. let these [ __ ] guys in. Now you got. to run into him and we win, thank God. And then we lose to Drew Brees, which. full circle moment last night. 20 year. annivers. >> I can't figure out this blitz in. practice. So I'll be excited to see if. anybody else can figure this out. And. I'm pumped to hear that you are trying. to see just one offensive coordinator.
figure out B flow. So you could drop. that [ __ ] on a Wednesday against or on a. Thursday against Bow. The battles. between you two all training camp. We. should put that on TV. Hey. Okay. No, you're in the middle of season. I can't. ask about that. Joint practices, I think, are going to. become the new training camp uh. preseason games. Is that what it feels. like? I I don't want to take you too far. out of back in time, but it does feel. like that's probably what's coming, right? >> They're super important and especially. we don't play the Minnesota Vikings. defense all season long. So, uh, for us.
to do nothing but play against them for. a month, uh, those joint practices have. become very, very important for both. sides, you know, not to not to, uh, get. too mired going against each the same. guys every single day and to also not. expose, uh, a lot of important players. on your roster to, uh, those preseason. games to get them ready. They're really. important when handled the right way. We've done a ton of them. I love them. and uh, always uh, always really enjoy. getting a chance to welcome people here, especially. We got a great place to host. joint practices here in Minnesota.
>> that that's going to become March. Madness. I think I think we're going to. do away with some of the preseason. games. There'll probably be one like. bubble preseason game at the end. And. this is not the right time to be doing. this. It's just we're in the middle of. it and you're a good brain for the. future of the NFL. Those joint practices. are going to get televised though. That's going to become what it's going. to become like a red zone of joint. practices. Get rid of the preseason. games. Have a bubble one at the end. >> I don't know. We'll see. Too many plays. >> I don't know if the players are going to. like those joint practices though. You're going to have to negotiate that. [ __ ] Kevin. You're gonna have to get. you're going to have to get in there and. negotiate that. You know, the players. are going to have their say as you were. a player and we did see that.
heartbreaking day whenever you got. released. >> Uh let's talk about the NFC North a. little bit. Uh Ty has a question for. you. >> Yeah, coach. Uh I'll just tell you as a. fan of a team that you uh play and is in. your division. Boy, does it [ __ ] suck. watching those games when you just, you. know, your quarterback's just getting. blitzed left and right, no answers. So, uh you got that going for you for sure. And obviously you're not going to put. too much stock into early season wins. like this, but when you are already 2.
and 0 in the division, how much. confidence does that give you guys? And. and almost like leeway with, hey, we're. still figuring out who we're going to be. offensively. We have a pretty good idea. defensively, but now we do have two two. games in hand in the division for down. the road when we feel a lot more. comfortable with what we're doing. offensively. Yeah, I think it goes into kind of the. method of how we, you know, are going. about things early on in the season. Uh. we want to be a better version of this. team as we progress along. Uh but I will.
say getting uh two hard-fought wins. against, you know, teams in the NFC. North, it's critical. We know our. division's so good. The coaching is so. good. um you know, not Chicago, Green. Bay, Detroit, all those teams are going. to be uh whether you're playing them at. home or you're playing them on the road, these these these games determine so. much in the NFC. Uh it it seems like. every single year and um you know, whether it's the Green Bay Packers. getting uh healthy and getting Micah. back. It's Chicago and what Ben's doing.
eventually getting Caleb back, but. they're playing great football. They we. know that that's that's their standard. of of how they do things. I got all the. respect in the world for Ben. And and. then, you know, in Detroit, you know, there's there's no tougher team out. there, mentally, physically tough group. that that, you know, it all comes from. their head coach and and what Dan. preaches and how they build their. organization. So, that's what our that's. what our division is. Uh we know that we. know what it's all about. We know it's. going to, you know, as you start getting. into October and then on into November,
December, the NFC North is always going. to have a massive uh say in kind of how. that NFC playoff picture looks. your team and the Lions playing for the. NFC's number one seed two years ago. Was. that two years ago? Three years ago. >> Two years ago. >> Two years ago. >> Cuz Darnold won Super Bowl last year. >> Oh yeah. Football Justice. You don't. have to talk about it. >> Packers fan make sure your money. >> Yeah. That's Green Bay Packers. I don't. like that at all. I don't like that KOC. at all. Uh there is a wide receiver you.
have that seemingly is not from our. planet. Go ahead Connor. Last question. KOC. Thank you man. Yeah, KOC, you. mentioned it kind of banged up a little. bit on offense and that's with Justin. Jefferson. Uh, how is he doing? What are. the vibes around him and how many more. plays do you just have sitting there. where you know like a [ __ ] I wish. Justin was out here so I could call this. today? >> Yeah, there's a few for sure. And uh, you know, he's uh he he spent some time. with Randy Moss. Randy Moss has been. spending some time back around our.
facility. It's been awesome. But when. Randy and Justin are watching tape. together, they come up with some some. pretty damn good ideas, I got to say. But he's doing great. Um, you know, he. kind of got a lot of the initial. soreness and things out last week and, um, see what he's able to kind of handle. from a practice standpoint leading into. Sunday, but don't know exactly where. he's going to be at. We have the buy. next week, so uh, obviously as a whole. offensively, we need to get healthy. We. should be getting Jordan Mason back. after the buy. Um, you know, Christian.
Deraw, uh, some other players, even. though we lost Donovan Jackson at left. guard, which is a killer cuz he's having. a great season. Um, we feel like we're. going to be getting stronger, getting. more healthy as we move forward. And. getting Justin back this week would be. massive, especially going back to his. hometown in New Orleans. >> Randy Moss just hanging around Justin. Jefferson. I don't think that's fair. >> It might. >> That doesn't sound Yeah. Yeah. Look at. him. Yeah, it's not fair. And we love. it. Yeah, Randy. We actually got Randy a. house here. If he needs to hang out, he. can come hang out anytime he wants. We.
appreciate you for stopping by, brother. Good luck the rest of the way. >> Yeah, thank you guys. Always appreciate. the time. >> That's the undefeated Minnesota Vikings. head coach Kevin Oonnell. >> The NFC North looks like this. Minnesota. Vikings 4-0. Chicago Bears 3-1. Detroit. Lions 2 and two, Packers 2 and two. Not. a bad division there. >> Strong. >> Not a bad division there. The AFC North. 3 and one. 3-1. 2 and2. 2 and2. the. division. Everybody in the AFC East. seemingly has opportunity to turn it.
around. >> Whoa, whoa, whoa. >> Don't don't need an opportunity. Some. teams have already turned it around. Okay, slow down. >> quickly. Getting a little chirpy up. there. That's opening the door. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, it is. We'll see. We'll see who. walks through it. But for now, I'll just. enjoy my view. >> Yeah. I love I love that you guys are. all the way back. I like that the way. that is. AFC West Kansas City Chiefs 4. and0. It's hard to put any team above. them. It It is really hard. But with. what that Falcons team was showing last. night, it's hard not to take them.
incredibly serious right now. We just. saw Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers, also. a very good football team. >> I mean, Raiders, >> Raiders, good football team. >> There's a lot of good football teams. right now. And uh that Falcons team last. night, >> just getting a chance to watch it. The way Bejon runs, I don't think I've. ever seen it. It's It's like a gazelle. I I don't What are What's that? Uh. safari animal that people compare the.
only name you it comes up is is Barry. and like and that's that's like a that's. almost sacriiggious comparing anybody to. Barry Sanders, but that's the only. person you can compare him to. We had. Shady during my era, which which during. my era, which wasn't he wasn't as fast. as Bjon, but like everybody had to be at. the point of attack. he can cut back and. make these different plays, but he is. just he is unbelievable. >> Doesn't look like he's running. Like. that's what is so shocking about like. even with, you know, the comparison. right now is Gibbs and Bejang. Like. those are kind of the two at the top of.
the class. But like when Gibbs is. running hard, it looks like it like when. he is running at top speed, it's just. he's floating the entire time. It's. insane. >> And Penn, did you see him walking in that building. last night? >> Oh yeah. >> He looked cool as [ __ ] I I He looked. like he knew what was about to happen in. there. It it feel it felt like they all. >> How about all the other [ __ ] that we. don't see on TV like the in between the. stuff we usually have eyes on with boots. on the ground like with with pinnix I. guess like we saw with Lamar like just. >> so comfortable just so comfortable. Stfansky is he stalking the sideline.
like how. >> happy he looks so comfortable and h like. he he looks so just kind of just at ease. you know walk even the warm-ups whenever. I told him like hey we're live we're. live all right just kind of turns around. the other way walking out of the tunnel. before the team comes out you know I. quick give him like a how's it feel to. have like a quarterback and just like. and then just like kind of walks it's. like so confident just and then be has a. smile on his face at all times while. he's jogging around and then their. offensive line. >> I I mean, everybody's a monster on the.
NFL football field. Their offensive. line's unbelievable. >> Top five football team in the NFL. It's. a good football team. >> Hey, that's a great football team. >> That's a great football team. >> This started with Carolina Panthers and. Packers last year. I know. >> Whenever the Panthers just beat the hell. out of the Packers, Tig goes, "Hey, Panthers, >> that's good. Everybody needs to relax. about us losing to them." Falcons, same. thing. I don't think a lot of people are. expecting them to be good. Their fan. bases might get mad. They might be. great. We'll see on the other side.
This has become something that's. spectacular. It started as proof that. kicking is not easy. This is a real. pressure moment every single week that I. have been waiting for all off season. And our first contestant is a man named. >> Bruce Mel. >> Big Bruce. >> Big Bruce. >> Big Bruce. >> Home Depot has said they will match. anything that I put on for you for the. rest of the season. >> All year. >> Yeah. Usually, usually companies don't. do. >> like blank checks. Home Depot said, "We. will match anything you say." So, on.
that note, >> wow. >> 500,000 from me, $500,000 from Home. Depot. $1 million. to start the season, Bruce. >> Shout out Home Depot. >> Shout out Bruce. >> Now, Bruce. Bruce, look around at your. people here. Bruce. Bruce, they would. all LOVE TO SEE YOU TAKE HOME ONE. million dollars this morning. Hey, just. uh just so we can up the energy so it. feels like.
>> Death Valley a little bit, can we get a. uh. >> I thought we said we weren't going to. say that on TV there. Sandbag. >> 1 MILLION. on this. Hold on.
>> We got to It's week one. >> Yeah, >> IT'S WEEK ONE. >> HOME DEPOT. >> It's week one. You got. >> We got to go. >> All right, Bruce. >> We can't set precedent that like if you. stink it goes up. So, it's not going to. go up. But what I will say is 250,000. from me, 250,000 from Home Depot. This. is your last effort. $500,000. Bruce, >> how do you make it go end over end? >> I don't think now's the time to learn. that.
>> I don't know. Explode. Explode through. it. Explode through it. >> Hold on, Bruce. Hold on, Bruce. >> Uhoh. >> Let's take a thought, Bruce. Let's take. a minute. Stanford Steve, do you think. this guy has a chance to make this or. No, Steve. >> I do. >> You find people that have been waiting. through a lightning storm. Do you think. Bruce is going to be able to make this. or No, >> they have more faith than I do. 1. MILLION BUCKS BACK ON THE LINE, BRUCE. 500,000 FROM ME. 500,000 FROM Home.
Depot. Good effort, Bruce. Coast is clear for. the first week. Home Depot, I APPRECIATE. YOU SO MUCH JUMPING on board, Bruce. Great effort, brother. I appreciate you. signing up to DO THAT, REESE. NO money. to anybody. >> The following program is a collection of. stooges talking about happenings in the. sports world. It is meant to be comedic. informative. The opinions expressed on.
this show do not necessarily reflect the. beliefs of their peers, their boss or. ESPN. There may be some cuss words. because that's how humans is the real. world talk. If you are a young, please. seek permission before watching any. further. Hey, let's go. >> This show stinks and the fact that you. listen, we are very, very thankful for. you. >> McAfee on the line with a gorgeous.
assist. >> The alltime leading tackler for the. Green Bay Packers. >> You can't. stop. DAMN IT. >> YOUR FRIEND, tell a friend something. nice could change their life. Hello beautiful people and welcome back. to our humble boat the draft kings. thunderdome on this big time Tuesday. October 6th 2026 hour two of the program. begins now.
>> FOOTBALL IS THE GREATEST week four of. the NFL season wrapped up last night in. New Orleans as the Saints hosted the. Atlanta Falcons and the Atlanta Falcons. get the win 45. She. 24 with five touchdowns coming from the. Atlanta Falcons running back room. And. then also Michael Pennix in his second. start back after recovery has looked. absolutely cerebral. The Atlanta Falcons. just might be one of the top teams in.
the entire NFL. And you would have never. said that at the first couple weeks. whenever uh there was a different. quarterback in. Then the guy who was. selected top 10 out of Washington comes. in with Kevin Stfansky who's known as an. offensive genius and they start slicing. and dicing and cooking on the road. You. went in Lambo in prime time on Thursday. night and then you stacked that on top. of with a Monday night in the Superdome. win back-to-back weeks on the road. Maybe some road warriors as well. You're. heading back to Atlanta with a very. different story and internet action. >> now than just a few weeks ago. Congrats.
to the Atlanta Falcons getting another. big time win. Congrats to the New. Orleans Saints and the New Orleans. community on the celebration that was. the 20-year anniversary of the Super. Dome opening back up after 13 months uh. down from Katrina. There was uh 1,392. deaths caused by Katrina. There was. 30,000 people that called the Superdome. home for 12 days. There was an entire. region that was obviously devastated. And then there was a Superdome that was. reopened and a celebration was had. about, you know, adversity and.
perseverance and grit and staying. together and community and what sports. does. And Steve Gleason's blocked punt. is still referred to not only with the. statue but as a moment where the entire. city felt like they were completely back. after devastation. So it was a magical. night down there and the Saints team. just, you know, >> sweet. >> I think they were caught up in the. celebration as well and they couldn't. stop the Atlanta Falcons for the life of. them. >> No. No. And the Falcons might do that to. a lot of teams. The talk table was here. at Boss Connor and at Tai Schmidt. Atlanta Falcons. That's a really good. football team. >> Yeah. Unfortunately, if it seems like,
you know, whenever we kind of do this, I. I get the taste a couple weeks in. advance, you know, at the hands of just. an absolute piss pounding against the. Packers. But hey, sometimes that. happens. You know, you you you find out. a couple weeks before they really hit. their zenith, hey, this has the. potential to be a great football. They're a good football team right now. They might become a great football team. in a couple weeks. And I think we saw. that with the Falcons. And that's kind. of always been the case with Penn. It's. like when this guy's healthy, he's un. unbelievable. He just can't stay. healthy. But you could tell, boy, I'll. tell you what, when you got a. quarterback, um, that makes a hell of a.
difference when when you're not, you. know, trotting pooper rush out there. All due respect, that's not me. Lot of. people saying he was really they were. really good with him though, too. >> I don't know if anyone was. No. >> No. Like if if you were a football team. and you got a win against Falcons, >> even with Cooper Rush, that's a good. that's. >> Don't even count it. Oh, you're talking. about Pittsburgh Steelers. >> Any There was two weeks before uh the. Panthers and Steelers. You're right. Steelers did play them. >> Oh, what team are you a fan of? >> Dukane Dukes, baby. >> And.
>> Pittsburgh Steelers. >> So, you're saying the Falcons of Poop or. Rush, which were one of the worst teams. in the league possibly ever. >> They actually had stats that said worst. in league. >> They were in the side division. Yeah. >> And then they were best in league in. points whenever Pennix gets back. How do. you kind of account for that dub early? Because they're two very different teams. already in this very short season of the. 2026 year of the NFL. Now, a nine-year. NFL vet, Darius J. Butler is here. Cooper Rush getting a lot of slander. right now. Cooper Rush had a hell of an. NFL career. Okay. Hell of an NFL.
>> Still going, by the way. >> Yeah, I saw him last night. He was in. full uniforms last night. I didn't know. coaches do that. He was in full uniform. >> Tula dressed. >> Tula full uniform man pads. >> Full uniform man pads. What about uh. that other guy? >> Two looked very good. >> Jack, >> I didn't see Jack Strand. I did see Zack. Wilson, Spencer Rattler. >> Yeah, >> that's the other side. I mean, when you. talk about quarterback rooms last night, it was a who's who of Oh, I know. I. know. I know. I know. But Cooper Rush. had a hell of a run, but I think. everybody in Atlanta is very excited.
that Penn is the quarterback. >> Oh, yeah. >> Brick on the defensive side. He had the. boys humming as well over there, >> flying around. >> Tyler Shuck had a couple moments where. he could have went, but instead the. Falcons put him to sleep. I mean, Tyler. Shook, he he I think he's shown he's. everything you want in a quarterback and. it, you know, you want to say young. quarterback because of his NFL. experience, but his age, he, you know, he's in his prime, but he has. everything. But they just, they don't. have a run game. When you don't have a. run game, it's tough when, you know, the. guys just pin their ears back and get. after you. So, it's going to be. difficult for them going down the line. They got Minnesota next with be. So,
we'll see how they handle that. But. Atlanta, yeah, that defense flies. around. And just mentioning, you just. mentioned those quarterbacks, like all. of those different quarterbacks. It's. just a reminder every time. Like just. how tough it is to play in this hard ass. tough ass league. Like you talk about. Spencer Riley, you talking about Zack. Wilson, you talking about Tua, like you. talking about all these guys, different. starts, some top five picks, some late. round picks, it's just unbelievable. Anytime one of these guys kind of hit. their stride, especially they face some. adversity early and then start having. success in the league. But yeah, man.
And look, Atlanta Falcons, obviously a. quarterback makes a difference. I was. one of the people bitching and moaning. about them being on prime time for the. next three weeks and they have showed. out. And look guys, you know, I get it. It's a sign of intelligence when you. change your mind because new information. is available. So the new information is. the Falcons got a damn quarterback and. they're a damn good football team. >> Yeah. I don't like whenever, you know, we're in daily sports. Mhm. >> We can only operate off of the current. situation that we don't know tomorrow's.
news. >> We don't know tomorrow's. We wish. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Oh my god. >> DraftKings is happy we don't have that. >> That'd be awesome. >> Let's just close our eyes and think in. that world. Could you imagine? We. already know the outcome of tonight's. >> MLB playoff games. >> Well, the Yankees playing cuz. >> they're going to play tomorrow. But I. agree. Oh, they don't play tonight. >> No, they don't. >> Okay. But tonight we have Dodgers, Braves, Brewers, Padres's.
>> It'd be so cool to be able to know. tomorrow and know who wins this one and. how they win. You know who I like. tonight? Braves sales on the man. >> Who's he pitching against? >> Yamamoto. >> Oh, pitcher showcase tonight, I think, as well. You How would you describe. this, Todd? >> Yeah, certainly. Certainly you would. Uh. Yamamoto during the World Series last. year was lights out. Unbelievable. But. Sale kind of, you know, he he's been. he's been doing it, you know, pitching. out of the bullpen the other night to uh.
to seal that series. And then he's a. gamer. And again with him, you know, he. kind of told us when we talked to him a. couple weeks ago, like, you know, I I. would assume he is going to play another. season because he's still throwing hard. as [ __ ] and he's still very good. But. like when you get up up in age like. that, like you never know how many more. moments like this he's going to have. and uh you know so that that should be I. mean this is when you think playoff. baseball like this is the matchup we. want the Dodgers Braves one and Brewers. Padres's that series has been absolutely.
unbelievable both games coming down to. the bottom half of the the last inning. but yeah I mean we got no football on. tonight these are two great examples of. good playoff baseball. >> mean if we knew tomorrow. >> we'd be hammering irresponsibly on these. games. >> it would be responsible. because we know cuz it it would be a but. we don't know tomorrow's information. We. only know what we have right now. So if. a team looks like absolute shite, >> we have to say this team looks like.
absolute shite. That's right. >> There has been a growing number of. people don't say nice stuff about us. now. >> Stay on that side. >> Say, "Hey, that's not how this works. How about you don't get to decide what. we see?". >> Okay. How about how about we how about. we just get a chance to talk about what. we see and how happy we are that the. Atlanta Falcons are very real. And I'm. not saying it's just Atlanta people. telling us that's across the board in. all sport like game day. >> I got to pick games. >> So I'll pick against a team because I. have to pick a game and all of a sudden. I don't want to hear you. It's like.
whoa. I might have to pick them next week. Win. this week. >> I got a bad I got a bad news for you. I. I think I'm going to have to I think I'm. going to have to pick them at some. point. >> I will. Yeah. >> Now there has been teams in the past. where I have picked against them every. single time for an entire year. >> And it worked out. >> It worked out for them. and they won a. national championship. >> So, I mean, >> but Ruckers look good. Week three. >> Oh, Ruckers is a good team. >> They look good. >> Uh, joining us now from an attic in Ohio. is a man who's probably very excited. about how the Atlanta Falcons are. playing football right now. He's college.
football national champion, Super Bowl. champion, Ryder Cup winner, the all-time. leading tackler for the Green Bay. Packers. Ladies and gentlemen, father of. 10, AJ Hall. >> Oh, good haircut, AJ. Good haircut. today. >> Oh, yeah. You You want to find the. future when you talk to O's or Chris. Angel, one of those guys, I'm sure they. can tell you. Um, >> yeah, >> I think O. >> is out there still doing it, right? >> O would be the one, I guess, right? >> Jiu-Jitsu and future predictions. That. would be Chris Angel. >> Yes, that is. >> Yeah. Self-defense. >> And as we're talking about Chris Angel. in Las Vegas here real quick, pivot.
carrot top. Happy to hear, brother. >> Y for real. >> Happy to hear Carrot Talk. Love you, buddy. He's been good to us. >> Yeah. Friend of the show. >> He stopped by the show, brought a. thousand props. Just I don't even know. where he's pulling them out. had. different pockets was doing his [ __ ]. >> He knew ball too. >> Loved ball. Love sports. Super great. energy. Happy to hear where he is right. now as opposed to where he was a couple. weeks ago. We love you. Carrot top. Did. you love what you saw last night from. this Atlanta Falcons team? It two-headed. monster in the back with one of them.
being maybe the best back and maybe the. best football player in the entire. league and then a defense that every. time Shuck and the boys were starting to. answer and rally around the emotion and. the momentum of the evening down there. continue to put the fire out. your. thoughts on the Atlanta Falcons right. now versus maybe a couple weeks ago. >> I mean, I feel like from start to. finish, the Atlanta Falcons just kind of. outclassed the Saints. And I I saw a. headline it said Atlanta clobbers New. Orleans on the road. And that's what. they like I don't ever really use the. word clobber, but I feel like it is very. uh it works when you talk about this. game, but like you said, the two-headed.
monster in the back field. I mean, Bjon, Bjon, however he wants to be, you know, everyone what whatever he wants us to. call him. I just don't know. Like I know. you mentioned Barry Sanders and all that. like Bejian's vision and his patience is. just crazy to me. I don't like like you. said it looks like he's not going full. speed but the dude is so in control. It. feels like the game is is slow has. slowed down in his brain. His just. instincts and how he's able to move is. just it's next level. >> It's a little bit of sonar too. Feels. like he knows where people are without. being able to see them and always has.
like big smile on his face. Feels like. he's enjoying the moment and. ridiculously confident in what they got. going on. good offensive line. And we. talk about Stfansky, he got this job. very quickly and we as a program were. very surprised that he just gets hired. that quickly after how it all went in. Cleveland. He has an off a juggernaut it. appears here for two weeks. Will this. slow down once a defense gets a book on. him as they say, AJ? How do you think. about that? >> I mean, it should I would imagine every. game, every rep that Michael Pennix. gets, he feels better and better and.
more confident in that offense and I. think they have they have more. confidence in what they can actually. run. So, I think their offense can only. get better and their defense with with. Albert at the helm is uh they look. awesome, man. Like not a lot of big huge. name superstars, maybe nationally, but. guys just just know how to get it done. So, they've turned into one of the more. entertaining teams actually to watch. >> What did uh Troy say about the Atlanta. Falcons defense? >> I think he said basically in so many. words, if you ask like a casual NFL fan, they couldn't name one starter on the. Falcons defense. And and it's kind of. true. Obviously, we know them because.
we've seen them either in the league or. we've followed them or watched them in. college, but they don't have a lot of. headline names, but if you're calling. the defense, you you got fundamentals. I'm always a proponent of, hey, good. players make good coaches. Um, and a lot. of times, you know, you have to have. kind of like the the player that changes. the math, like a great pass rusher or a. great corner who can just eliminate a. side of the field. But when you got all. 11 playing on the same page, that's on. either side of the ball. the offense. You talk about, you know, getting a book. on guys. Like some of the best offenses, the best players, the best quarterbacks. kind of ran a lot of the same [ __ ] for.
15 or 20 years. Like they knew what they. were doing. They just were better at. executing than the other guys. And you. have a foundation of a run game and then. a running back stable like the Falcons. have right now. If they can stay. healthy, that just makes it so much. easier for the quarterback and the. offensive play caller kind of control. and set that tempo of the game. So, I. mean, I'm I'm obviously it's early. It's. only really a couple games into their. season, but I'm excited about the future. for sure for the Falcons. >> Bjan Robinson, week four. Week four, two. team, I'm sorry, Brian and Bejan.
Robinson here in week four. Two. touchdowns, three touchdowns, 145 yards, 19 carries, 14 carries on the other. side. I mean, that makes quarterback's. life a lot better. >> Yeah, AJ makes. >> probably top five for AQ. >> Oh, I would assume assumption. >> They held the New Orleans to like 50. yards rushing, too. Now, I understand. they fall behind. They can't run as. much, but yeah, they still they shut the. run game down. >> What? They have number one rush defense, I think. Right. >> One or two on the tail of the tape. yesterday. >> Yeah, I think they have a great rush. defense. So, you're going to have to. Hey, Chuck, you're going to have to do. this one yourself, buddy. Let's see how.
you do. Chris had some catches. >> Yes, he did. >> Jawan had some catches. Chimera out of. the back field looked like a one again. there for a little bit, but they could. just never really get going in proper. spots. Right before half as they were. getting ball in the second half 247, they drive down and score a touchdown. there. 24-14 getting the ball in second. half completely different game. >> instead stop at the 41 they punt it down. pin them but like who cares doesn't. matter at that point and then they get. another stop coming out of the second. half it's like Atlanta Falcons defense. is for real let's talk about a couple.
other things that are for real um. >> two officials have been suspended one of. them has been suspended for two games. >> that's right. >> this feels like a huge suspension. >> uh two games feels like a lot of games. uh for a ref to be suspended for saying. uh f you f you to a player on camera. So. the NFL refs association has come out. and released a statement and uh they. basically said hey it's getting a little. tense out there with some of these. interactions. So you guys want us to be.
super duper professional. Well, we. talked to the players a little bit as. well. We want to kind of manage this and. handle this. I think my takeaway from. this all is this provided Roger Goodell. in the NFL a great opportunity to. showcase to players, hey, protect the. shield's a real thing. You know, we we. believe in protect the shield. So, if. you are going to represent our league. and you're going to represent the sport, which is what refs are doing when. they're on an ISO cam and they're. telling the entire world what happened. wrong, they're representing the sport. They're representing the league. That is. what they are as officials. They are an.
official for the league in there. So, we. are going to let the world know and. we're going to let the players know for. any any future punishments that we give. that we do not take any [ __ ] that'll. make the Shield look bad. They can. grandstand on that forever. Will we have. a clue that these two refs aren't refing. for the next two weeks? No. We have no. idea. But it gave the NFL a good. opportunity to showcase to the players. like, "Hey, we're being serious about. this whenever we say we respect the. Shield and we don't want any type of. stuff to make us look bad as a whole.". AJ, I think that is what this has.
provided the NFL and I think it's given. them an opportunity to showcase like we. really do mean everything that we. seemingly grandstand upon sometimes. whenever we're punishing players for. stuff. >> I think that's a that's a a smart. outlook like that is it does make sense. the more you think about it. But also. who got two games? Who got one game? Do. we know which. >> FU guy FU guy got two games and then the. the guy who took the bump. >> this guy got one. >> he got one for this. See I I give him. credit for holding himself back. He he. thought like you know sometimes you get. hit in your first reaction you know for.
a quick second you never know and he. actually didn't he didn't. >> give him credit look at the look at the. Tony's point he's got a lot of pizzazz. he's got a lot of pizzazz on those I. just. >> well deserved I'm sorry welldeserved but. I was presented I've watched this closer. right one game it's I get it. >> well I think it's because of how. instantly combative he was. >> that was crazy. >> you know you're instantly combative. against. >> this right here the point in the faces. are amazing that's my favorite. >> Yeah, that's not the look I assume that. you want your refs to have as your.
immediate thought is I got to fight this. player in the NFL cuz this guy got. bumped to the ground. But he did take a. big bump. I mean that guy went like four. or five yards. >> May have been concussed. >> Could have been and he could say that. >> I mean, we've seen much worse bumps. >> We have refs. >> Agreed. But I think uh the refs are. telling them like, >> hey, your first thought can't be I'm. going to I'm going to fight the guy like. that. That can't be, you know. So I. think that's what the NFL is saying. the. ref saying it's my third bump of the. day. >> It wasn't me. I was concussion. You see.
how hard I hit my HEAD OFF THE TURF? >> DO WE GET AN unc when do we get a. somebody that sends us to the blue tent? But the the FU one getting two games. I. love that strictly because we were out. here going, "Come on, let the guy say. it.". >> We might have been a part of the. problem, you know, highlight this and. talking about this and then McBride kind. of pointed at the camera. Like I think. that played a role in that. But I even. with all that being said, I still I was. shocked that, you know, two games, one. games, maybe a fine, maybe something, but two and one. And I I forget who put.
the graphic up. Somebody put a graphic. up yesterday of like the last time a. reference suspended. It may have been. like 2012 or 13, but I when when Shifty. dropped this news on ESPN yesterday, I. was shocked when he when he that live. on. We all kind of had a reaction. But. um we kind of even took the sides of the. refs like, "Oh yeah, you showing some. personalities. It's a lot of [ __ ] that. are said to refs from players or coaches. that we see that maybe, you know, the. general public don't. So, I was. surprised at the response. Um, but yeah, you definitely set a precedent with this. for sure. >> And that's what the ref said in the.
their association put out a statement. Really, these guys are allowed to say. whatever they want whenever they want. You want this utmost of prof cuz what's. going to happen now? >> Yeah. >> What's going to happen now is what. happened with Rabel. Yep. >> Where he says, "Hey, that's an effing. terrible effing call." And he gets a. flag for that. It's like they set a. precedent that the refs aren't allowed. to say. Now the ref's association. rightfully so. I will say this is what. the ref's association is supposed to do. Comes out and says like, "Oh, is this. what we're doing now? Because we'll send.
you some tape and we're all miked up. So, let's go ahead and listen to. everything that's said to us by refs or. by coaches even." BA, he used to chew. out the refs in practice. the these refs. on Thursday and Friday that would come. by, try to get some extra refs, Big 12. Sky Conference refs that live in the. area, come get some refs on a fast. Friday or on Thursday or whatever the. case is. They make a bad call. Bruce. Arens is killing them on the sideline of. practice on a Thursday, period 12. This. shows this this practice is about to be. over. We got one play left. Nobody cares.
except for you aren't going to be the. one that's going to mess this up. You're. the least talented person on this field. Okay? Everybody else out here is. professional athletes. These people have. made it to the top of their profession. You lucky to be here strictly because. you signed up. You are not going to be. ruining our practice. That is how some. refs are talked to by some people. And. it seems like Vrabel is probably a guy. that talks to refs. I talked to refs my. entire life, every sport I've ever. played in. Always working refs or. letting them know that I thought they. were completely wrong in a talented way,
I think. But there were certainly some. times where it was a little bit of heat. I think me and Jean's territory became. friends because of these types of. situations that took place out there. So. I I don't like that they're probably. gonna be cutting that completely out. now. >> I think I think it's part of Goodell. part of the message like by suspending. this ref. It's saying hey we're going to. tighten it up on both sides. They're. going to hey players we understand. coaches it gets like it gets heed out. there and you say things but we're going. to try to cut it off now because look. we're going to suspend one of our own. refs. Like what could we we could come. down on you as a player here in the.
future. Here's a statement from Scott. Green, the NFL Ref Association executive. director. NFL officials have a. responsibility to conduct themselves. professionally on the field, and the. actions in these incidents fell short of. that standard. Accountability matters, but that should not result in discipline. that is excessive or inconsistent with. established precedent. Officials are. routinely subjected to highly charged. interactions and at times verbal abuse. from players and coaches. While that. never excuses misconduct by an official, it shouldn't be dismissed as simply a.
part of the game. The league expects the. highest level of professionalism from. its officials, and it should demand the. same from everyone on the field. That. line right there is now going to be the. focal point. And there's going to be. some people that don't talk to refs, some players and coaches that don't talk. to refs. Just not their thing. But. there's going to be some players we're. about to find out, like you said off. camera, that do talk to refs. And we're. about to see flag on the field. Yep. 15. yard for what? He told me I was a blind.
piece of [ __ ] Yeah. 15 yards first down. on a third down or on a fourth down. after. >> We should negotiate that though. We. should negotiate. If you get a personal. foul for something you said, the ref has. to tell everybody exactly what you said. Like we need to know why it crossed the. line. >> You've said this a lot. We've said this. a lot. in our negotiations with ESPN. actually had to write these things out. on what's uh going to get bleeped, what's not going to get bleeped, what is. the line like we need to know because. that line changes for everybody. >> Jean Ster, Pittsburgh Pison, not a bad.
talker, communicator. I think you talk. [ __ ] to him, he's probably going to. bring something back. All of a sudden, he's establishing the line with you. Hey, yeah, we ain't doing that. Some of. these refs though aren't big talkers, which I think they should have to be, especially if they're a white cap. And. they say something, they get offended. immediately. It's like now now there's. going to be no consistency on what's. being said, let alone the consistency on. the calls. This is going to be tough to. official. >> It's it's tough. But this is another. example of like the NFL just saying, you. know, no group of people, no person is. going to be bigger than the shield. You. know, I'm sure they don't want the.
conversation to be around the referees. with all these great players, these. great coaches, great, you know, quarterbacks, whatever. You don't want. the conversation on the stripes. And, you know, I so much respect to the refs. that it's a tough tough job. We see the. calls. We see everything on TV. We see. so much replays. They got to call this. [ __ ] full speed. It's bang bang. So, it. is a very very uh you know tough I guess. high stressful job. But, I mean, I guess. this is part of what come with it. But, this is a hell of a precedent to set for. the strikes for sure. as somebody who. had front row seats to a lot of football.
games punter the refs man and had a. chance to be in the room where it. happens you know the day after the game. where everybody's grieving and here's. the messages we got from the officiating. and here's the actual play and oh here's. the outcome of this play and what led to. after this play it's like the refs very. much matter they are a very important. part of the entire job which is why I. don't love that we're just about to take. interactions away from players coaches. and the refs But. seems like we're headed that way. And.
what's in this? You think? Can I drink a. cup that isn't see-through that I don't. have listed on here? Because I saw. Jonathan Taylor clearly drink tea. >> Yeah. >> Mhm. >> Yeah. Pinky was out. >> It was obvious. >> He didn't get fired, did he? >> We'll see. >> He put his pinky up. Do you have to put. your pinky up? >> Yeah, but Pinky could be beer bunk. But. >> a pinch. >> He's in London. >> He was in England. He sat down. >> Crisscross applesauce. >> Thank you. >> Bang. We We used to call it something. back in the day. Yeah, do that. >> So, do So, have a guy Let's Let's test. it. Have a guy do a keg stand. An.
imaginary keg stand, but have him put. his pinky up when he's sucking on the. nozzle like it's tea. >> Okay. So, he's just drinking tea with. the queen upside down while doing a. handstand. >> There aren't tea. >> Cuz I'm a little bit We don't know that. We're not barrels. >> We do know. We do know cuz we dumped. them all into the Boston Harbor [ __ ]. >> Oh, yeah. >> And they stop making them. >> Queen ain't bringing it anymore. >> Will you have the countdown? What's. that? >> She loved horses. >> The queen. The queen is dead. Long live. the king, I think, is what people say.
now. >> How are his fingies doing? >> Sausage fing. >> All right, let's move away from the. English royalty. >> Looks like he's got rubber bands around. his knuckles at all times. >> Well, >> yeah, >> that's cuz. >> it is. Yeah, >> his fingers are trying to get away. >> Mhm. >> And he's got rings on that are just kind. of keeping him in there. >> Yeah. >> I think he's also thinking about just. serving up knuckle sandwiches to his. sons basically every other day. He's. flip-flopping. Which one's teeth he. wants to knock out? >> Yeah, >> exactly.
>> Walks into another room, hears something. new. >> Yep. >> Pretty spot on. >> It might pop. >> Walks into the dining room or whatever. It's such a far walk in the [ __ ]. castle. >> All this way gets in there. >> All the food's gone. Why? Kids. >> Exactly. >> Just every day. >> Mhm. >> Hey, there's another article coming out. about you. >> Yeah, sir. Eric did another podcast. >> Yep. Yeah.
>> Walks into another room. >> Yep. Sir, your other son, he's just he's. running his [ __ ] mouth. >> His hands are just explo the updates he. gets. >> Yeah. >> Goes into his bedroom about to go to bed. one last time. Pop in from whoever the. town crier, I guess, pops in and lets. him know. >> Sir, sir, Arie's sex tape just came out. God save the queen. >> That's right. God save the queen. God. >> Well, >> may she rest in peace. >> That he did. But he did a couple times,
though. I think there was at least a. couple times he saved her. >> I'm sure. >> in that show. >> Yeah. Long right. >> I couldn't get past that one queen. That. one queen was my queen. Then they. dropped in a new queen. >> Liz, >> that ain't my queen. I I can't do it. >> You like the original queen, then the. second queen is who? >> No, I think I stuck with the second. queen. There was there a third queen? I. think they did three different queens. Yeah. >> Yeah. I couldn't get to the old one. I I. I tried to watch the show to learn a. little about their history. She [ __ ]. loved horses. Good god.
>> How's uh AJ's Russian queen doing? >> Yeah. How is the queen bee? That's a. good question. We still got good bees. >> Bring up Russia right now. >> Yeah, we do. They're doing they're doing. great. We're We're right now trying to. consolidate a little bit, try to get to. this winter because it's not a huge. hive. Not a huge colony, but we're we're. making we're making. >> They left here. >> Oh, no. They're all here. No, they could. winter. It gets pretty cold here in. Ohio. So, we got to make sure we have. enough we build up enough resource and. they got enough nectar and honey to live. off of for the winter. So, yeah, we're. we're in the process. We're good. >> Sounds like a lot of people are choosing. or a lot of bees are choosing to not be. a part of the hawk.
>> No one's leaving. Oh, no one's leaving. No, you know, it's tough in the winter. for bees. Honestly, it is. Especially a. new a new colony like mine. >> Tough time to be. >> Can you put a Can you put a dome over it. like restaurants do when they put their. tables outside? They put the dome over. it and then you can eat out there. Is. that an option? >> Heating lamp? Yeah, >> I'm sure you could. Yeah, but no, bees. are pretty unbelievable. Check it out. What they do in the winter, how they. ball together and they they create their. own heat and they sit in there and in. the hive. It's it's pretty legit. >> I'm tired of bees. They're everywhere. right now. >> They're going on a shortage. >> I don't care.
>> Bring it back. >> They're not going to They're not going. to sting you. >> Bring it back. [ __ ] kill them all. >> I DON'T GIVE A [ __ ]. >> DON'T do that. We need the bees. >> Quit flying around like crazy. You know. what it does. >> You know what? Other insects do that, too. I'm done with the bees. >> Thank you. Me, too. >> Don't do this, guys. Jerry Seinfeld made. a great movie about why the bees matter. Okay, I I suggest you watch it. We. >> I love honey nut Cheerios. Love them. And I love And I love Jerry Seinfeld. >> But I'm done with it. >> All that Iowa sweet corn you always brag. about without bees, it's all dead.
>> A bunch of other insects who farmers do. whatever they need to. And. >> those other insects, they suck. Bees do. >> I agree. I think all insects suck, but. we need a couple of them. >> Ladybugs. >> Ladybugs are cool. >> No, >> they're useless. They're useless. They're cool. >> Let me take that back. Asian beetles. stink. Ladybug. >> They actually stink. >> Yes, they do. I'm okay with those. Stink. bugs. >> Stink. >> Stink. And just [ __ ] lightning bugs. >> I don't mind. I like hitting those with. baseball bats at night.
>> Yeah. >> And tennis rackets. That's really fun. >> I think And the glow sticks onto the. bat. Lost the best. >> Bees did to Thomas. >> the tank engine. >> Yeah. >> Caterpillars. >> I might I might. >> my girl. See, you're coming to my side. >> You guys can't be wishing the death of. his fault for being around bees when. he's how you allergic, man. Let's get. real. >> Butterflies. >> Hey, I just got a little heads up for. you guys. Maybe a little happiness. Commercial honeybee colonies face severe. shortages right now. >> That's too bad. >> US beekeepers reporting historic average.
losses of up to 62% in recent seasons, according to data from the Honeybee. Health Coalition. Now the reason Ty not. just your hate uh and your negativity. it's actually parasites and pests. nutritional stress as well chemical. exposure and then climate and weather. also a problem for some of these bees. you know so maybe you guys will get your. wish of having no flowers you don't want. flowers in the world what are we talking. about from my understanding. >> flowers but if I never saw a flower. again I don't know if I'd really feel.
either way about it you know. >> have you ever seen somebody smiling in. the middle of the desert for a long time. without seeing green. >> no han I haven't. >> So, you need a flower in your life. >> You don't want to see flowers? >> No, I'm saying like I like flowers, but. like if if let's say next spring, like I. mean, are you gardening? >> No, I just like like flowers. >> Me, too. But guess what? You go the last. time you've seen a flower? Go to your. local flower. Someone else will do it. >> Saw one this morning. >> There's a frost warning. You ain't. seeing no flowers right now. >> Okay, you are. >> He makes He raises a good point. >> When did the HBHC come out with that.
report though? Are they getting better? Well, the Honey Bee Health Coalition. actually. >> David Burns is doing great work behind. all this. We're they're going to do it. Trust me, we're coming back. >> Thank you. >> They're tracking the bees, man. We need. them no matter how much everybody hates. >> them. No more bees from Russia, AJ. All. right. >> Yeah. >> No more anything from Russia. >> Got to keep it. Yeah. >> It's okay in this situation. Don't got. to have a queen. >> Is there a microphone on all these bees. that you're bringing into America? You. know, >> are they uh they spies? That be that.
would be pretty impressive if it was. like what if it's a little it's a drone. Russian bee that actually lays real eggs. that my other bees take care of and. fertilize. Boom. And they're hatching. all spy Russian bees. >> That's what we're saying that dice. >> I never thought of it. Didn't think. about that till right now. I I got to. get back. I'll get out there today and. check. >> Yeah. Go manage your communist be. >> I got some like I got some bug finders, you know, that find the hidden. microphones and cameras and stuff. I'll. take it out there. I'll sweep it and let. you know. Yeah, but modern communist bee. espionage is going to be tough just to.
snore. You know, you're going to have to. You brought them in there. It's over. from my understanding. >> No, I'll get to the bottom of it. >> Those little eggs you're talking about. are little baby cameras. >> Holy [ __ ]. >> You got honeypotted literally. >> Wow. >> Yeah. >> You know, like Trojan horse. It's. actually a bee. >> Oh my god. Let's pivot away from this. negative. >> Just gave a great idea to some foreign. country. Unfortunately, >> they already had it. >> They did it. >> Oh, they didn't. >> They're right in the middle of a hawive. right now. these days. >> All right, let's give away from giving.
other places ideas, especially if you. can just find somebody in the middle of. America that be like, I would love one. of these communist spy bees, you know, just I need in there, which we have, I. guess. So, I don't think any other. countries will have that out there. But. I appreciate you getting us honey. Good. for allergies. >> Very good. >> Good for everything. >> You know what else is good for. allergies? >> Huh? >> Zerek and [ __ ] pills. >> All right. >> Yeah. Let's move off of the B subject. And let's move to college football. Ladies and gentlemen, joining us now is. a man who hosts college game day, both.
football and basketball. He has an AP. vote for college football in a ranking. process. And for us, every single week, he stops by and delivers his Reese's. Pieces from the weekend. Ladies and. gentlemen, Reese Davis Reese. >> Ree, sorry you had to hear that entire. bee conversation. Do you have a hard. lean either way on the bees? I I don't love bees because, you know, they can be annoying, but. >> I love honey. I love raw honey, manuka.
honey, chew honeycomb. I I would love. for AJ to send me a jar of his honey. >> OH, IT'S COMMUNIST HONEY. YOU WANT SOME? SEE, THIS IS HOW IT HAPPENS, AJ. This is. how we when we harvest some. We harvest. some in the spring. I I'll get you a. bottle. I. >> I would love that. I just bought some. yesterday. I make a snack sometimes. I. take peanut butter, honey, and raw. oatmeal. Mix it up, taste like a cookie, and it's sort of good for you. >> Oh, do you bake it or does it just dry. out? >> Yeah. Just Just eat it right then.
>> Oh, wow. Grease. >> Just right then. >> And then do you drink it too for that. buttery voice of yours that you have? >> I I do. Yeah. >> In the tea. >> The manuka honey is good for that. Yeah. I'll put it in the tea. Sometimes I'll. just have a big spoon of it. >> Yeah. Right there. >> I love honey. I love honey. >> You're do are you doing that on the set. of games? Like, have I missed you? facing honey. >> No, no. I usually I usually do that in. either in the mornings or when I'm at. home or something like that. I'll get a. spoon of honey. >> Private time. >> Okay. So, you're bonging honey. I didn't. know that. So, this you want to get rid.
of this guy's pre every single day. >> He just wrote down manuka. So, >> I did. I just wrote down manuka honey. Uh I don't know if I've ever No, no, no. I I'm good with all that stuff. I just I. would like all the bees that are in my. backyard currently to get the hell out. and never come back. Can't we have like. a a bee farm like there is for chickens. and stuff like that where we. >> mass produce these things? >> It's kind of what AJ's doing right now. >> They have commercial operations. >> All right, forget about the bees. We. love the I love the bees. Not everybody. in here loves the bees. We're getting. into Manuka honey. I cannot wait to see.
uh how that changes our lives for the. better. Obviously works for you, Ree. Reese, you've been around college. football forever, college sports. forever. This college football season. has felt special and very unpredictable. Can you uh give us your Reese's pieces. from the weekend that maybe people need. to either think more about or your big. takeaway from what we just saw? >> A big takeaway I had guys was really. obvious. There were times on that. sideline watching Ohio State and Iowa on. Saturday that I thought Tai Schmidt's. team I was like, "Well, that's a. turnover." And Jeremiah Smith just.
jumped in a couple of times, took the. ball away and made unbelievable plays. and catches. He said after the game he's. the best player in college football. And. I think he's right. You start looking at. the numbers and compare it, say, to. Devonte Smith's highest trophy winning. season and these back-to-back games that. Jeremiah Smith has put together, double-. digit catches over 200 yards. Devonte. Smith did that three times, twice before. the Heisman vote came and then had a. long stretch of games where he was.
getting the ball no matter what. That. was Steve Sarkeesian running that. offense. Arthur Smith is doing the same. thing. Arthur Smith is basically saying, "I dare you to stop me from and Julian. Seyan from getting the ball to Jeremiah. Smith. He's he's such a difference. maker. I try to think of guys in my. career, which I'm getting old, of. watching some of the greatest receivers. in this era. I've always said the two. best seasons I've ever seen were Dvonte. Smith and Larry Fitzgerald." I thought. Larry Fitzgerald deserved the highest uh.
his final year at Pittsburgh. That and. maybe Randy Moss. And I think Jeremiah. Smith is right there with all of them. He's just just been unbelievable. And I. think I left Kendrick Stadium Saturday. afternoon saying I I'm seeing something. special here. I know you always knew he. was good, but you're seeing something. special with him. I think. >> we knew there was no ch I mean, we loved. Iowa. Then we all we loved it. I still. love it. Cannot wait to get back. I. think we are going to be back in the. spring a couple different times because.
of relationships that we have over. there. Had a blast. We knew there was no. chance they were going to lose two games. in the first five weeks, right? We we. all knew that there was no chance of. that happening. That early loss to Texas. in the fourth quarter, kind of a. collapse. Perfect wakeup call maybe for. Ryan Day and this entire team. I I I can. think AJ, do you view it the same way. over there in Columbus? Is that how the. Buckeye fans are viewing it or do they. still think this team could collapse. late at any time like they did against. Texas? >> No, I think you have to take it as a. positive. Like, yeah, it's not a uh it's. not a season ender now, which is which.
helps for you. Yeah, it can definitely. be a wakeup call. I think refocus the. team. >> I I'm impressed by Ry Smith because his. offenses have not been like the most. explosive or electrifying in the NFL. Then you take over the keys of this. particular offense and you pick up right. where you left off and might win a. Heisman for a wide receiver. That'd be a. very big change to the RD Smith. offensive play calling narrative. >> You know what Arty Smith is good at is. when he has an absolute freakazoid. Uh. Derrick Henry, Jeremiah Smith, he knows. to feed them and and that's and that's a. really good quality to have as an.
offensive coordinator. Yeah, because you. know sometimes you get worried about. everybody else's feelings uh and how it. all goes, especially in this NIO era. I. like that everybody's like, "No." Yeah. Yeah. This is kind of what this is going. to be. >> Yeah. I mean, you look at you look at. number four and all 21 other players. Yeah. You know that that's that's the. one the ball's probably going to whether. we got two or three guys on him. And. Theresa's point, same way. I'm like, "Oh. yeah, Phil Parker, he doubt it up. Once. this ball goes in the air, they're in. great position." Nope. for just makes a. play like his combination of like size,
speed, quickness, and then the ability. to make a catch at the point of attack. Unbelievable. >> Has he been there three years? Is this. going to be three years of stats? >> So, so abnormal for a guy of his talent. to be at one school for three years to. rack up all the records that he's about. to have. I like the way they pre-wrap. the balls before taping the balls to let. them know what records they were. He's. going to own them all at a place that. know is known for a lot a lot of great. wide receivers. Ree, there's another. place that's known for a lot of. incredible football players and they. look real yet again.
>> Man, I thought Miami separated itself on. Saturday night. Not that Clemson's. great, but you know, Clemson was trying. to maybe make a stand, make a last stand. for the season. And you, another great. receiver, Malachi Tony, just had by his. standards an average night and still. Darien Mensah, Cooper Barquet, the Miami. defense, they look like another team that could. go back to the national championship. game and win it on. As good as Carson. Beck was at times, it certainly seems up.
to this point in the season that Mensah. has elevated the quarterback position. A. lot of people worried about their. offensive line. I know in talking to. Crystal Ball down there in the off. season, not as experienced, but he loved. the talent that they have there. That. seems to be coming to fruition. I think. they averaged over five yards a carry. against Clemson on Saturday night. I. think Miami separated itself a little. bit as well. And another team that I. won't say separated themselves, but I.
don't know that I've enjoyed watching. anything this season as much as I. enjoyed Northwestern and what Chip Kelly. did going old school wing tea out there. and just putting Penn State's. linebackers in a blender. Now, because. I'm a nerd and because I try to learn. and I'm not being physicious, I'm being. serious. I try to learn so I can. understand a little better the way you. guys talk ball. I got in a rabbit hole. last night of old wing tea stuff and. watching people who had broken down all.
the things that Chip had done against. Penn State and how it just befuddled. Penn State's defense with influence trap. plays and plays that looked like draws. and you know basically you know Lou. Holtz always used to say if you can't. block them read them. Well, in some. cases, Northwestern didn't block Penn. State guys because they're like, "Yeah, he'll he'll follow this orbit motion.". And he would run them right out of the. play. And it was it was a thing of a. thing of beauty. And these guys ought to.
be six and one by the time they play. Oregon. And about that time, we'll find. out just how good they are. But it's. been uh it's been really impressive. I. mean, they hung with Indiana and. everybody said, "What's wrong with. Indiana?" The better question might be, what's right with Northwestern right. now? investment. Big investment, too. A. brand new stadium. And if they're. investing in a stadium, I assume they. would also like to invest in a team that. is playing in that stadium. Stadium. looks beautiful. Unreal. Unbelievable. >> Looks awesome. It looks awesome. >> Especially for a place that we wouldn't. expect to be that invested in football.
I like that they're choosing to do that. And that adds to the depth of the Big. 10, AJ. If Northwestern becomes a team, nobody That's kind of the thought. whenever the um new teams were added to. the Big 10. It's like, well, how's uh. Oregon or USC or UCLA going to do in. November against Northwestern or in. December against Northwestern at a noon. kickoff game, which is actually a 9:00. a.m. kickoff game and it's 24 degrees. and there's 14 people at the game. What.
the hell is USC going to do then? Well, history has told us that those schools. traveling that many time zones have done. terribly. But now, if Northwestern. becomes a legit opponent, the Big 10. gets deeper and deeper. AJ and I think. that's happening with the amount of. money and investment from the alumni of. these places. >> Yeah, I think it's a great thing. Another team that's playing well recent. uh Indiana is traveling to Nebraska. What do you think that that game looks. like? Obviously Nebraska and Matt Rule. feel very good about where they're at. and Indiana just continues to roll. Yeah, I really I like Indiana a lot in.
this game and I I am impressed with. Nebraska has had a few games this year. in which it's kind of stumbled out of. the gate and then have shown the ability. to turn it on and kind of pull away at. the end. overmatched opponents for sure, but for as rich as their history is, this is going to be the first time that. two teams have met in Lincoln with, you. know, records of better than 4-0, undefeated records better than 4-0 since. they had a number one versus number two. match up against Oklahoma 25 years ago.
So this is sort of a landmark. opportunity for Nebraska to show that. they even after the loss of Dylan. Raiola, after the Matt Rule era hasn't. really started as quickly as many many. of us, myself included, anticipated, this is a chance for them to to prove. that they are they are back on the road. to being competitive at an elite level. Uh because Indiana, even if Indiana's. not quite yet what it was a year ago, they're still really really good and it.
it's a great measuring stick opportunity. for Nebraska. >> Okay, let's go down to the SEC. Huge one. down there in Tuscaloosa, Georgia, Bama. The Sabin Dock is premiering on. Thursday. It is going to be a show down. there. You're an alum of Alabama. What. are you expecting from young Keelin. Russell taking on, you know, maybe. Kirby's best team in a few years, but. also maybe best team in country nobody's. talking about in the Georgia Bulldogs. >> Georgia has really not played anybody up.
to this point. Doesn't take away from. the fact that I think they're terrific. They might be the most complete team. around, but you know, Oklahoma's sort of. half a team. You're challenged when you. play Oklahoma's defense, but not so much. with their offense. This will be a big. test for Georgia, big test for Gunnar. Stockton. Um, Georgia's going to have to. make some explosive plays. Alabama's. defense has shown the tendency for. they'll make a big play for somebody. either for themselves or they'll give up. one. You know, the old saying is.
somebody's band's going to play, you. know, after that. But there are a lot of. difference makers on the Alabama. defense, but at the same time, they've. given up a ton of big plays. You kind of. feel like that there will be times that. Georgia will make Keelin Russell look. young. That's just sort of the part of. the maturation process for a. quarterback. It seems to me. So, can. Gunnar Stockton make those big plays and. really kind of put a little more heat on. Keelin Russell to be able to answer?
Keelin Russell's got uncommon polish. I. mean, Kamario Taylor's a terrific. quarterback prospect. I haven't uh. cooled on him a bit despite what. happened in Starkville on Saturday. But. Kean Russell's different. He's got a lot. of a lot of physical gifts, but there's. a polish to him that is uncommon, but he. hasn't seen anything like he's going to. see Saturday night from the Georgia. defense and we'll we'll see how he. reacts. >> Can you tell me a little bit about the. Alabama fan base? You know, Game Day has. been there a lot. Uh obviously, I've had.
the opportunity to be down there for a. few game days. There are some locations. where game day travels to on a regular. basis where you know there's a chance. that the luster of game day being there. kind of wears off. Alabama's always been. a good scene, but with this young. quarterback and seemingly having a. couple years with him now, how does the. Alabama fan base feel at this point, especially behind Dbor where there was a. lot of questions going in this year with. how last year ended? >> I I think I think they're in the process. of um fully winning over the skeptics.
now. Most every fan base has an edge. that is never going edges that will. never be satisfied unless they win every. game and cover every spread. You know, you I mean you guys know that's the. that's the way they are and that's okay. because that's what makes it great. That's why they care so much. I think. most of the rational reasonable Alabama. fans and they actually contrary to. popular belief they actually have some. of those. Um, I think they they knew. that Dbor is a good coach and they've. been really excited about Keelin Russell. for a couple of years and to have him.
sort of live up to the billing up to. this point in the season, I think, has. created some energy in the fan base. Um, as it pertains to game day, they've. shown up, but there is, you know, there. is an expectation from an Alabama crowd. that they're going to win. So maybe some. of that um euphoric feeling of the show. returning that we experienced last week. at Iowa is a little bit harder to find. in in Tuscaloosa. >> Yeah, some of these places have had a. lot of game days. You know, the teams. have been big. They've hosted a lot of.
big games. It's going to be great to get. to Tuscaloosa with Sabin yet again and. also with the premiere of his dock with. the world learning a lot about what he. did at Alabama. I think what he did for. Alabama, the city of Tuscaloosa as a. whole should be a special weekend. Very, very lucky and thankful to be a part of. it. Now, speaking about being lucky and. thankful to be a part of something, um. Reese Davis, you have an AP vote and. that means you have to rank these teams. >> Every week he has to put pen to paper. How many uh voters are there in the AP.
for college football? >> I think 65 65 or 68 if memory. I think. 65. >> Okay. So, all 65 of you put together. your top 25. Then it's all pieced. together and then points are given and. then that's how the official AP top 25. ranking goes. >> Mhm. That's it. You You get a point, you. know, an inverse number of points from. teams that are ranked top to bottom. >> Oh. 25 points for number one, 24 points. for number two, >> 23 points for number three. Is that. right? >> Mhm. >> Answer one. >> Yes. Then they add up add up the points.
and that's how and then they sort it. out. >> Okay. >> From there. >> Do you put out your AP poll every single. week or No, >> it it ends up getting put out on some of. these websites. There's one called. College Poll Tracker, I think, or. something like that. So everybody's. votes out and I don't know if this is. available to the public or not, but. where I log in to vote, I can go and see. mine and see how everybody else has. voted once the voting is closed. >> You you sent us your vote. Do you mind. if we make that public? >> No, I don't mind. I don't mind.
>> Boom. Here it is. This is Reese Davis's. top 25. Happy you said that we could do. that. Little transparency here from one. of the AP voters for college football. Ree, I know it's an impossible task to. try to get this right. Can you tell us a. little bit about piecing this week's. together and how many people you think. immediately are piecing you apart. because of what you did here? >> Pretty much all of them because Pat, I. think I shared this with you yesterday. when I looked at what I was about to. send in and looked at my computer.
screen. I was like, well, I hate that. and I hate that and I can understand why. somebody's going to be mad about that. And I I do it because I think it's a. good exercise for me for the show. You. know, I think it it kind of gives you a. broad picture, makes you consider a lot. of things. I revise it a bunch of times. Um I'm scared to death every week that. I've, you know, in the process of. physically moving teams around that I. accidentally ex somebody out, you know, all of that kind of thing that you worry.
you're going to get killed about. But. the thing that was the hardest for me. this week are were all of the one loss. SEC teams because as I look at this. right here, Miss beat LSU, right? But. several spots behind Miss, Florida. killed Miss and you know I have Florida. behind Missouri because Missouri killed. Florida and Mississippi State beat. Missouri. You if you're going to try to at least. in this early part of the season make. head-to-head matter more than anything.
else, not meaning everything matter. more, you try to stack them up. But in. this case, it was sort of impossible to. stack all of those teams up giving. giving proper respect to the. head-to-head ranking. So there's a mess. I know a lot of people are going to look. at this and go, "What an idiot." And. they won't be wrong because there a lot. of there are a lot of things to pick. apart about what I what I ended up. having to turn in. >> Well, what is that? The transitive. property that you end up having to use. A, B, then automatically C. But if you.
do that, then you're getting rid of. actual head-to-head outcomes that have. just taken place within the last few. weeks. Oh, this guy doesn't Why do the. games even play then [ __ ]. >> Yeah, he doesn't even watch it. >> Yeah, it is uh a tough test. This is why. I wanted to show it, by the way, because. we do judge the top 25s. We all do, you. know, daily don't know what they're. talking about. And then Reese was. explaining the process yesterday to me. for the first time and I'm like, that. would be a difficult little thing to do, especially if you throw yourself into. the fire. On that note, can we make. yours public? Uh. >> yeah. Now,
>> and he said, "Yes." So, thank you for. doing that. >> Look at us 17, 18, 19 up there. I. believe it's Oklahoma State, Oregon, USC. They all all three of those played. each other, but Oklahoma State, you. know, has a loss to Tulsa in week one. How much do you factor that in? Like, it's. >> it's a tough It's a tough little gig up. there. impossible, >> you know, and that that's a really. interesting point, too, because as we go. along this season, and it'll open you up. to more criticism. As we get a little. deeper in the season, I'm going to be. less bound by the fact that OK Oklahoma. State beat Oregon. Now, if they keep.
playing, I may give a little bit more. weight to the fact that they have a bad. loss or that Oregon maybe just had a bad. day. That's why they call it up an. upset, you know? It's so you can't just. lock in on it forever. And it was one of. the reasons that last year I didn't have. any problem at all with someone who. would have had Notre Dame ranked ahead. of Miami. It happened early in the. season. It was a close game. Teams. change. And I think at some point you. reach a point in the season where you. have to say I want to respect what.
happened on the field for sure. It's the. most important thing. But you also have. to say take other factors into. consideration. Are they better now? Have. they played a tougher schedule? Have. they been challenged more? All of these. things that you have to evaluate. >> Yeah, Reese, heavy as the head, brother. That's why we don't have a vote. Now, let's act like this is the actual. rankings of these college football. teams. Debut has a father. >> Yeah, Ree, I respect the hell out of. you. I was with you with everything. except that hogwash about ranking Notre. Dame of Miami. But with that being said,
I ask you every week, your number one. team, you obviously just showed us that. and talked about your process. If you. pop that poll back up, is there any team. from the bottom three rows that you. would not be surprised at all if they. kind of jump up into those top two rows. in the next few weeks? >> Florida. I know Florida had a terrible. day uh against Missouri and Missouri, you know, just opened up a can on their. rear end for sure. Oh, yeah. >> But I still really think that Florida's. running game will travel. So, they're.
one and obviously I would say Oregon, too. If Oregon has gotten right, then. they've got as much talent as anybody, and they could easily wind up on those. first couple rows. And they have. opportunities. They've got UCLA, who I. strongly considered ranking this week. and didn't. They've got UCLA coming up. Got a game with Ohio State. You know, they've got a lot of opportunities to be. able to prove that they're as talented. as we all thought they were in the. beginning. >> No pit. >> No, I.
>> Nard Nard is coming. Having him on the. show Saturday, you think he's going to. notice? >> Well, he better. I sold the stock on him. last week, a day after they win that. huge game. You don't even put him in. your AP top 20. He was talking directly. to you. Hey, to the rankers and to the. voters, how about a little respect here? And you said, I I hear you, dudes. I. hear you. >> Okay. >> There's a lot of other teams out here. What What was it about pit? >> No can do. >> A couple. The first thing to answer to. answer directly the biggest reason that.
I had them in at first and then opted to. I think put Wisconsin in their spot is. they lost their quarterback. So I just. want to see what they are now without. Heinsil. Um you know Gerner came in and. did a good job off the bench. How will. that sustain? But I think the truth of. the matter is at least to me how I. evaluate this. You could take teams. probably starting around number 20 and. get down to about 35 and there's not. really a lot of difference. you know, there there are a lot of teams, you. know, Nebraska's not in there. I.
mentioned UCLA. Pittsburgh certainly has. a case. There are number of other teams. that you could put in there and say, "Yeah, that's a reasonable choice to. make." Um, so I don't think there's a. lot of difference, but you have to stack. them up in some order and you have a cut. off point. So, you know, you got to make. some kind of choice. >> I see some differences in your AP top 25. vote. And ladies and gentlemen, who sits. at top tones above average poll this. week? Now, we have to describe what an. above average poll is,
>> especially in the college football. world. It's not from, you know, 30,000. ft. That would just be like an average. pole. >> Sure. Yeah. >> It's not boots on the ground. >> No. >> Deep elite pull. >> Just an above average pull. We got a. little bit more information than most. We pay attention a little bit more. We're not super deep in there. >> No, >> but we're certainly above averageely. deep in there. And that's what Tone's. poll is all about. Who? >> Sorry, I got to grew up. >> And a lot of it I test when you look at.
that poll, you know, if it's a good poll. or not. >> Who sits at top your above average poll. this week, Tone? >> Uh, I test this week and what happened. this weekend and just kind of, you know, who won the weekend? It was the Ohio. State Buckeyes. >> Congratulations. >> Wow. What's that in the back there? >> Oh, that's the Buckeye Grove. That's. actually AJ Hawk's tree. They de they, you know, dedicate trees to all the. all-Americans and that's exactly uh what. AJ's tree looks like. So that's kind of. what we decided to go with there. There's a couple other options we. decided we could have gone with uh on.
the Buckeye campus, but this is what we. decided on. >> Big Nut. >> Yeah, I didn't see Big Nut. Big Nut. certainly looking for Herby from my. understanding. Uh Ohio State Buckeyes. sit at top your above average poll. Then. Georgia and Bama heading into a massive. weekend. So they are two and three on. you down there at the bottom. Right at. the bottom of the poll. Yeah. Right. there. >> Kind of fighting over who's gonna sit a. top tone above average poll next week. You could argue. >> there's a good chance the winner of that. one is at top of the poll next week. >> Oh, so you're kind of giving away what. you're going to be looking at. >> Maybe. We'll see. I mean, there's a lot.
of big games this weekend. >> So, your poll is saying what's tickling. my fancy is whenever a big time school. beats another big time school, they got. an opportunity to get right to the top. of this poll. >> Yeah, you're you're reading my poll. pretty well, sir. Um, that is what it. is. And then you like I said the eye. test and kind of going into a tough. environment and what you do there. Um. you know I respect Reese uh having Texas. there at number one because of what they. have accomplished and who they've beaten. so far this this season. They beat Ohio. State this season in their own house by. a point. >> There's not eye testing it for me right. now. We'll see what happens to that team.
as Thank you. See Ree. Thank you. And. we'll uh. >> but Reese as an AP voter has. to do that. He knows that though because. he's got respect for the game, respect. for the position, and I think a little. bit of respect for Tone's above average. poll too, Ree. >> I do. I do. I like it a lot. In fact, what Tone said about his above average. poll, my arguably below average poll. might very well have the winner of that. Georgia Alabama game at the top. depending on how they look and how. >> well everybody's got you an A ON TOP OF.
THEIR POLL POTENTIALLY HERE in the next. couple days. We appreciate you ladies. and gentlemen. That's Reese David. >> Hey baby Reese's truth. Reese is. phenomenal. AJ, good. Look at you. That. tree looks exactly like you. >> Brutus. Brutus did that too with the. some shears. That's cool. >> Yeah. Always trims your bush. >> Trims you up. He does. >> Buckeyes trimming the bush at a Tones. above average pole in big day with big. shreds. Bringing down the big plays. next. >> They give me the delay of game zero. >> Yeah, you guys do. >> You're good. >> Generally, >> I feel pretty good about it.
>> Why was Debb laughing in the middle of. that? >> I don't know. Sorry, guys. I got to be. professional. I think it was something. about a deep pole. >> Yeah. Yeah. It's spelled P O L L. D. butt. >> Yeah, >> it's a deep pull for the deep holes. >> It's a good pole. >> Going deep down there, you know. How is. big day with big shreds? We don't get to. watch it. >> Saw a little yesterday. Smidge. >> I think today's the day where rap goes. on. It looks really cool casually. If. it's Tuesday. >> Oh, they had jacket with shirts.
jacket layers. It was cool. Jacket. >> Get on St. page. Shrekes, we're happy. for you. We never get to see your show, but we are happy for you, >> babys, >> it is a big day with Big Shrekes. breaking down all of the big plays. MLB. has two games tonight that certainly. matter. We wish we could see the future. Did you hear about that earlier, AJ? We. were hoping that we were in the future. >> Yeah, I think there's still hope. >> Is there for a long time, it feels like. time travel has been something that has. been talked about, fantasized about. Would now be the time in which we would.
be able to figure it out more so than. ever? And have we? I mean, >> depends on where. >> because I guess just because you haven't. seen someone do it doesn't mean that you. can't figure it out. >> Oh, you're quoting a Santa Claus. I like. that. >> I just watched Endgame and Avengers. They figured it out. >> Yes, they did. >> Yeah. >> What did they Avengers? >> Mhm. >> Game. >> Yeah. >> I saw Anthony Mackey. >> Yeah. >> Last night. >> Captain America. >> Captain America. >> Juvenile. >> Mhm. >> Great performance last night. I wish it. was a little bit longer, but great. >> They only had six man scatter.
>> Sure. >> Good transition. Kirk Franklin hard. >> to Juvenile with slow motion and Trumbo. and Shorty going crazy. Then Eric Church. coming out there. It was it was a show. How about how big the stage was? >> Yeah. >> Oh yeah. >> Big stage. Felt like a big night, man. I. bet you big shriggs breaking all that. >> We did see the future in here yesterday. though with the I mean workout for the. Saints, but Kamar getting in the paint. twice. We talked about that. >> Felt good about that. >> Felt really good about that. Talked. about that during warm-ups when they. were standing in front of me. I forget.
how uh powerful all these guys are. Chimera's legs are gigantic. Yeah, we. were standing right behind him. I'm like. completely forget about those and he's. number one on 20 year anniversary night. again. >> Mhm. >> Camaras wanted to be there. Felt like he. was inevitable. >> Felt like Chimera was inevitable. yesterday. Not as inevitable as Bean. >> and Bryant. The Robinsons. >> quite a little duo though. >> Yeah, >> that was fun. Week four of the NFL. season provided a lot of magic. >> Heat. >> A lot of magic. College football did as. well. Yeah, that Florida loss to.
Missouri is crazy, AJ. Actually crazy. >> Just complete blowout. Yeah, I mean. there's anomalies. Things happen, I. guess. But yeah, we'll see how they. rebound. >> We will see how they rebound. >> If you had a huge weekend and then you. have to go on the road, you're just. going to lose. That's kind of how the. story of the season. It happened, you. know, with Miss after LSU going to. Florida. Florida does it with Missou. It's just kind of how things are going. to go. >> Why does that happen though, AJ? We've. been trying to figure that out since the. beginning of time. I think. >> human nature. >> Yeah. >> Right. That's what that's what you're. fighting against in football at all. times. That's what Nick Sabin is always. fighting against. like taking a breath, taking your foot off the gas, whatever.
it may be. And I think it's I I you. know, you can't even it's hard to blame. coaches, players. Just think of the. atmosphere you come from. You have this. giant huge emotional situation and then. I don't know, you fall behind early in a. game like this, then it gets uh you. know, hopefully your team sticks. together and it doesn't uh it doesn't. pull you apart. Hopefully it brings you. together. >> Signetti having an undefeated team. >> Crazy. >> Yeah. >> Got to get lucky with injuries, first of. all. Gota get very lucky. There's a. couple plays that have to go your way. You think back to Penn State last year. Iowa had a couple of those. >> They go their way. They go their way.
Oregon had Yeah. Out in Oregon. >> No. >> Yeah. When they played at Oregon, remember the pick six. >> Oh, yeah. That was earlier in the year. Yeah. Yeah. They needed Oregon, Penn. State, Iowa. >> Yeah. Yes. Those are kind of the three. Yep. >> And then Ohio State cracks Fernando's. ribs first play. >> Kaden Curry back in 10 playing for the. Colts now. Could be a three in one. football team. They're two and two. Took. the Chiefs to overtime. Everybody's. saying Chiefs are the best team in. football. >> What do you mean could be? >> In fact, they could have.
>> could be four and0 actually. >> Yeah. >> No, that first week. >> they didn't lose two games. >> Oh, yeah. They got killed. >> Yeah. We were never going to beat. Baltimore there. We We were never going. to beat Baltimore that week one. That. was pretty evident. Maybe from warm-ups. that that felt pretty evident. But. Chiefs overtime little wakeup call cuz. it's freaking hard ass league. >> Damn right. Which league you feel like. you got a better feel on right now? college football or the NFL where you. think, "Okay, I got these teams. I got. these coaches. I got I got them figured. I know who's who right now.". >> Neither. I got no clue. I got no clue. I.
I felt pretty good about Atlanta winning. last night. Uh but thought atmosphere. would overcome. >> College feels more obvious like the miss. going into Florida after LSU where you. everyone's on, you know, miss is. unbelievable, but Florida's favored by. three points. like that feels obvious. where it's like you should be taking. Miss. Same thing with or Florida, excuse. me. Same thing with Missouri, Florida. It's like when those lines come out as. far as Vegas goes and they just don't.
feel right based on what you just saw a. week before, like that doesn't make any. sense. Whereas like in the NFL, it's. like if your team looks like [ __ ] next. week, you should bet on them because. they probably are going to look great. >> Yeah. I guess in the NFL, the parody of. the talent, if they have bad week, they. get embarrassed. They're probably going. to play good the next week. I guess the. youngness of the college teams, even. though they still have money as. teenagers, them being able to bounce. back is not as likely, I guess, in this. entire, but there's going to be a team. that just gets hot and just pounds. everybody. It's It's the greatest sport.
of all time. It It is the greatest. >> Watch watch this week now cuz obviously. it's a weaker move cuz I don't know if. they had a by-week or not, but Texas. coming off the big win at Tennessee, everyone's high on Texas. Everyone is. very, very, very down on Oklahoma. Uh, and they just got boat raced by Georgia. in their last game. They wouldn't be I. don't think it'd be shocking if Oklahoma. won this one. >> Over under 39 and a half. >> rivalry game. Anything can always. happen. >> And like even to Tone's point about, you. know, Georgia just beat the [ __ ] out of.
him and everyone's low on Oklahoma. Oklahoma was about to score a touchdown. and you're time the tie the game up and. then Mat want to throw fumbles and Chris. Cole picks it up and goes 90 yards for a. touchdown. >> I think we Oh, Rap does have a really. cool jacket. very. he looks really cool. Um when we're at. that desk making picks and it gets down. to Herb Street. >> and he goes. >> this one feels obvious and he kind of. looks at all of us as if we were idiots.
but he like actually trusts it like him. picking Minnesota over Michigan. He like. trusts it like ah for me it's hard for. me to just trust it at this stage. When. Herby starts talking and guarantees. we'll be on a production meeting on like. Monday and he'll be like anybody that. thinks blank thing that I certainly. thought. I certainly thought just really doesn't. understand the situation that he's kind. of cooking down there. It's cuz he's. been there for so long. So every once in. a while he'll have like these feels of. like guarantees and he either drops them. on like a Monday in the production call.
or he'll do it at the desk and I'll look. over and he says it and I think to. myself like hey couldn't you have. >> said that before like five minutes ago. maybe told me that before we do this. entire thing but he hasn't been right. every time he's. >> he was and I didn't understand it and I. know Gums didn't understand he was. talking very highly of Clemson on. Saturday. Yeah, they they've been doing. that a lot. They always do. >> They've been doing a lot. >> They've been holding Davo in Clemson's. water for years. >> I mean, Davo for a long long time was.
one of the most dominant. >> Oh, yeah. >> coaches in operation. >> People forget like people forget what. the the run Clemson had. >> Yeah. It was like 10 years ago. >> Well, it has been a while at least five. since I've been a part of game day. I've. not seen a single good, you know, Clemson team. Just like Lincoln Riley. with USC. Yeah. >> They all have very high expectations for. him because of what he was done in the. past. So you got to remember all the. game day people have been there for like. 20 30 years. So they've been around a. long time. So Clemson had a long run. There was a lot of really good Dabau for. a lot of those people in there. Dabo. also very good to people like very nice.
guy, very nice guy. >> One natty in 19. So. >> yeah. So I think there's a lot of like. natural support of him in that room. So. they talk him up a lot but I I don't. really I have not seen it and I don't. really talk. >> No, he was they were great forever. >> I like him as a person as a coach. which. I appreciate the way he operates, but. anytime I have spoke about college. football in a big way, which I'm lucky. to do, I haven't seen him do good. And I. even said I'm picking Lincoln Riley for. two weeks in a row here. Think about me. saying that versus how they view Lincoln. Riley. They view Lincoln Riley as a guy. that could have went to the Dallas.
Cowboys, could have been coach or any of. these teams, but obviously we're seeing. what we're seeing with USC. So, just. generations, I think, just different. eras and how it all goes. >> But it does feel like Clemson, >> they don't have the guys they used to. I. mean, if they didn't beat North Carolina. after that weather delay, it would be. even worse. Like, you you almost would. wonder if he's fired. >> The thing I don't He won't be It's like. 57 million or so. I forget the number. There's a buyer. Oh, yeah. That is. >> How do you get back on track though? How.
do you get back there? That's the thing. When you fall out of that like top, you. know, the top four or five teams, >> I don't know how many years it takes, but you got to find a way to get those. big time recruits back. You got to. figure something out. >> Yeah. And who are you going to hire. after Dabau for everything he's done for. Clemson? There there's a lot of those. types of things. >> He is Clemson. Like he is Clemson for. sure. >> Yeah, exactly. >> But it hasn't looked good for five. years. Like it hasn't looked good. >> Need a massive influx of cash so you can. just go out and get a bunch of really. really good players. And I know they. already have like recruiting wise, but. like that's we've seen it. That's kind.
of what it takes. Someone comes in and. you have a huge donation like you can. turn things around pretty quickly. >> It is a $57 million buyout right there. >> There you go. feel pretty good about. that. I don't think a lot of people. think about uh the amount of numbers. that are kind of floating through all of. our heads for everybody's contract and. how much everybody's worth all the time. >> The 57 million one I think is because I. go to Pete Tham, you know, I go to Pete, >> I go, "So, Davos is there forever? Like, how's this work?" And he goes, "Yes, I I. think he is. I think he's warranted at.
least a little bit of a runway over. there for what he has done." And also 57. million, I believe, right now. So, who. has the cash for that? Lincoln's got a. big one, too. >> That's because of who they were. >> What is it after? What is it postseason? When do you think it drops off a cliff. or not? >> And what does Dabau do? Like, what does. Dabo do after? He's a professional. golfer, right? He's making 57 million, >> preacher. >> Maybe. >> Is Dabo a golf? I don't know if I've. ever seen Dabau talk or golf. >> Yeah, but I'm saying you're making 57. million. Okay. He's a profession. >> He go be a TV guy. Go be a TV guy. He'd.
be great in the booth. >> Great on TV. He'd be great on TV. Would. >> listen the way we're talking. >> I think so. >> Yeah. Come on, Tra TV. I would listen to. that, bro. >> I So, I have I have started to um. >> cuz there's people that hate my and our. guts for the way we do things, but. there's some genres of TV that I [ __ ]. hate. Like, I think is like I would be. embarrassed to put that on TV, but. there's people that like absolutely love. that, absolutely hate us, you know? >> So, I just call that trad TV. Like.
traditional TV stuff, you know? Like I. kind of go in that avenue. Like Dabo. would be perfect for Tra TV. He's gonna. say everything you want him to say. Oh. yeah. He's gonna have great energy. He's. gonna have the answer. His resume is. legit. He's going to be upbeat. He will. do the [ __ ] [ __ ] Yeah. >> You know, he he will do all of the [ __ ]. >> He could host a game show. Like. honestly, he could he could branch into. non sports things like that. >> Trad TV. I I think he would be a home. run. And. >> maybe 100 meter dash running up and down. that hill all day. >> He's still rolling. >> Him still striding, I think, is one of.
the more impressive things. and maybe he. should be playing for his teams, you. know, but his refusal there at the. beginning of the transfer portal to. operate in there and take a stand for. ball and for college sports, I do think. everybody was like, >> "Thanks, Davo. >> Nice. >> That's very noble of you. I like what. you're doing, taking a stand for this. entire thing to keep what it is." But. everybody that was clapping for him on. the other side was like, "How do I get. >> to go, man? Way to go, dude." Yeah. All. right. >> Ain't no business. >> All right, man. You're doing so good, Dabo. Now, I just told you wide receiver.
we got about three million bucks for. him. So, good luck telling him that he. just needs to keep doing it. So, I think. he did get delayed. You know, he started. late, started late, started late in that. game. Then he did start dabbling because. he realized, man, everybody's doing it. Not I'm the only one really that is kind. of taking a stand for bowl and saying. we're not doing it. So, now he's in. there. Is it too little too late? Does. he have to go through the growing pains. now with the transfer portal? Who you. get out of there? How you get out of. there? And how much money they have to. operate in there down at Clemson? We all. assume a lot at every school, but who. knows what's real and what isn't.
everywhere. I that's why I appreciated. Kirk Fence talking about the setup at. Iowa, how thankful he is and what's. reality. >> You know, he like spoke about the. reality of the story that we're never. going to be able to get the fivestar. guys. Fivestar guys are getting millions. and millions of dollars. >> unless they're in state. That's really. the only way. And like they, you know, grew up like I did and always like. that's the those are the only fivestar. guys they ever have a chance of getting. >> Hey, that was a cool moment. You and. Kirk. Thank you. >> That was also very cool. >> I appreciate that. You have been saying Kirk's dogs since. the beginning of talking to Mike Friends.
around here. Yeah, >> I assume he's heard that. >> No, I mean uh Yeah, I think so. I think. he uh and and I know the you know the GM. uh I've gone back and forth with him for. a while now, but like that I mean that's. real. Like I I've been to probably what, like a hundred Iowa football games over. my life, you know, and like I don't. really remember what it was like before. he was there. So like that that is, you. know, Yeah, that was. >> He got a little emotional too, didn't. he? >> Oh yeah. Yinszer, tough guy. Offensive. lineman. >> He was thinking in real time, man, I.
have been here a long time. >> Yeah, >> how old this guy is. >> Yeah, >> they were nice, man. I was really nice. to us. >> Hope we get a chance to go back at some. point. >> I hope so. >> I think so. >> We'll see. >> It was a good time. All right. Anything. we need to hit that we haven't talked. about uh today? Tyson Bean, started for. the Packers or Bears, I'm sorry. >> We have verse the Packers. versus the. Packers. Okay. So, I apologize for. getting that wrong amongst the two. Obviously, big rivalry game. You worried.
about the Bagman? >> Um, I mean, I could be playing. quarterback for the Bears and I think. I'd be worried with how the Packers have. been playing. So, we'll see. It's at. Green Bay, which certainly helps, but. they just they're so banged up. They. still can't block anybody. They can't. run the ball. So, I don't um. >> This is off a win. It's not good. They. just beat the Bucks. >> Yeah. with against an undrafted rookie. quarterback and did everything they. could to lose that game. >> Was he undrafted? Undrafted. >> Oh, I thought he was late seventh round.
>> No. And he's I mean, it's not like he's. some bum. Like he is super athletic, but. like no, I'm not getting [ __ ] excited. over that. Especially when the best. player on the defense tears his Achilles. during the game. And same deal, shitload. of penalties, bunch of drops on offense, still can't run the ball. Kevin Zeitler. might start this week though. So that's, you know, and if that's what you're kind. of circling as like the our season. saves, Kevin Zitler is starting, you're. in a you're in a rough spot. >> Did you guys work out AQ this week? I I.
think you. >> they need to quite frankly. >> Yeah, >> they need to, but I don't think they. did. But I'll tell you what, AQ's. protege needs to step it up at left. tackle. >> I know that. >> he's out of the shipyard. >> Yes, he is. Yes, he is. And he's. actually not been that bad. I like I. like giving an AQ hard time for that. But no, we'll see. I mean, like the the. Bears are, you know, they're kind of the. class of the NFC North right now, even. though the Vikings are undefeated. >> Bagman slicing and dicing for another. and I don't hate him like, you know,
like I have no ill will. >> Bagman's actually kind of awesome. >> I do love the Bagman. So, like it's kind. of weird, but. >> we have an official um appeal from the. NFL ref. We don't know what their new. >> collective bargaining agreement has for. what they're allowed to appeal or. challenge, but they certainly are. challenging the severity of the. suspension of two officials for the. unprofessional conduct, which the. official union maintains went beyond. appropriate punishment. I assume the NFL.
is going to say, "Hey, we got a new. CBA." You challenge it. What does that. mean? You put a tweet out through Sher. Okay, that's all you got. >> Shut the [ __ ] up. They think they're. above the letter of the law. >> These refs, man, they they think this. game's about them. They think we're. showing up at stadiums and sitting down. and watching red zone and our TVs for. them for the stripes. I don't think so, my friends. Take your suspensions. Hit. the road. See you when you get back. >> Game's gone. >> I think this has only happened like four. times in the history of the league where. refs have been suspended. One of the. times in 1968, Gumpy, correct me if I'm.
wrong, an entire crew got suspended. Yikes. >> Cuz they gave too many plays downs. So, they were definitely. >> Yeah. >> Mhm. >> Oh, got six downs. What city? What city. was that? >> Uh, it was 1968. I think it was 1968. >> New Jersey, man. >> Yeah. 196 Chicago, New York. >> It was Norm's crew. >> Who is it? Who is it? 1968. Six. officials were suspended for one game. after losing track of the downs during a. game between the Chicago Bears and the. Los Angeles Rams. >> Six officials suspended. Lost track of.
down. What? They had seven downs. It. >> was Capone's crew. Yeah. >> I don't have a camera. What do you want? I don't know what to do. 1968. That was. one year before they called the moon. Yeah, >> shut up. >> Still fixing games. Was that Mitt. laughing? I don't know what why he's. laughing his ass off. Mitt, [ __ ] take. a hike, pal. I don't I don't want to. have Yeah. >> [ __ ] you, Mitt. >> We went to the We went to the moon. I. don't need this jackasses muffled. laughter coming from the back. Yeah, I. was. >> I'd like to know Mitch's opinion on.
this. >> Actually, you know what? So would I. >> Yeah, we really went to the moon, guys. I know. We haven't been back ever since. I haven't heard that one before. >> Do flags blow in the uh the wind into. space? I've seen that. >> Yeah, thank you. I was going to say God. doesn't know how to spell his own. [ __ ] name, but you know, he'll he'll. go ahead and tell me about telemetry and. how he went to the moon. >> Can you open his mic back up? What's. your score in the ACT again? >> I got a 32. Muted it. >> Oh, that's changed. >> So, >> used to be a 33.
>> Yeah, something. It used to be some fake. number that he made up. I mean, we got. multiple people in here that said they. went to school, didn't go to school, they just lived on campus. We got a fake. ACT score that people been rolling with. >> Mitt's doing a good job, though. I. shouldn't have I shouldn't have come at. you that hard, Mitt. I apologize. >> He did big pop out of the 1969 phone. call to the moon. Huge. 1968, six. officials. 2018, an official was. suspended. Uh, and then 2026, two. officials line. Oh, so it's only been. three times. I thought it was four. different times. >> What were they appeal like a player? >> They said challenge. So it sounds like.
in the CBA they can't. That's why that's. why they are saying the word challenge. instead of appeal. But that's just me. with a amateur eye looking at the. wording of how we get to the bottom of. this. We are going to challenge it. We're going to show up at the office and. we're going to say. we don't like it. >> Throw the red flag. >> That should knock it down. >> Challenge is a ref word though. >> I think it's go two to one for the two. games to one. >> What if they go to half game for that. other guy? >> Come by second half. >> Be kind of weird.
Adrien Hills music. >> Hey, we need to read the steps from. Stallone. Somebody in here. I'm not a. big book reader. Uh, but we need Oh, yeah. We need to support Sly Stallone. You got. >> the steps. Is it out? I think it's out. to do. >> him doing the rounds. It sounds really. good. >> I don't know. I would I would definitely. read that though. >> Okay. If we can read Slies the Steps cuz. >> Did he do the audio book? I'll listen to. it. >> I think Yeah, >> in his voice then. Yeah. >> Getting a chance to watch him work there. a few different times. >> Yes, it is out. >> Okay. The steps is what it's called. >> Yep. legend.
He's writing, working the story of. Rocky, I believe. Um I think he's in the. process of making that as well, so you. could tell the story of what he was. doing. >> That movie comes out soon. >> Yes. About the making of it. Yeah. >> So, he's shooting that thing all day on. camera and acting. Then he's editing all. night, writing in morning, and then. filming again the next day. Broken ribs. because of things. just doing three, four hours of sleep basically as he's. piecing together Rocky. They tried to. come buy it from him. He says absolutely.
not. Owns it. Becomes his own in. Then. you start talking about the numbers. Not. just Rocky, everything at Rambo, everything else he's been a part of. It's like great biggest star in action. history. And he's with the pen, too. It's not just reading lines out there. Yeah. And still we're doing Tulsa King. I got a chance to be a part of a couple. episodes. Uh season 4 is coming out. soon. October 16th. Season five just got. it just got picked up for another. season. >> Season four is coming out October 16th. Honor to be a part of. So cool to be a.
part of and watch him kind of do his. thing. But go back to his trailer in. between shots. He's handwriting. Then. somebody has to take a picture of that, send it to somebody to put it into like. how modern day is because he's right. He. just writes it all. Notes on everything. We should do this instead. We should do. this instead. At this age, he's still. very invested. Still writing. Still a. genius. still command and said and I've. never seen a guy smoke more cigars AJ I. know you smoke a lot of cigars. I mean we are chain smoking cigars beast.
>> it was. >> he's like the classy guy smoking with. wearing a full nice suit not getting any. ash on it like yeah I don't know how. some of those guys are so clean with it. >> three-piece yeah and he looked awes had. a cane it was an honor to be a part of. it was to watch him work and then the. steps the book comes out roll the calls. with Ari he's what super agent Ari Lloyd. he has his book out called Roll the. Calls as well. And then Mosquito Bowl is. coming out. >> Yeah. >> I think. >> next month. A month. >> Yeah. The week before Thanksgiving, right? >> Watching Peter Berg work, learning about.
the Marine Corps, learning about uh. these college athletes, football. superstars that chose to go to the. Marines in World War II as opposed to. going to professional football. So, a. lot of stuff we've been very lucky to be. a part of and uh learn about. Sly. Stallone wore him once. I mean, >> he had a lot of people that did not like. his success there for a while either. >> No. and tried to make sure he he would. not be successful. >> And what do you do? Why? >> Just keep on cuz he was in a he. >> Yeah. >> He owned his own [ __ ]. >> and and he's Italian. >> They tried to buy from him because he.
said that's what the name of the movie. is. I play Rocky. Cuz he wanted to he. was like, "I wrote this for myself. I'm. going to be in this." And the studios. were basically like, "Yeah, no. Like you. you sound like that. You're not being. the [ __ ] lead actor. That's just not. happening." He just said, "No, no, no.". And then eventually they're like, "All. right, fine. You can do it." But they. put a bunch of restrictions. like if. this goes one day over what like the. projected shoot is, we're going to shut. it down, bring in an entire new and then. like that's a big part of it is like he. did all the stuff. So he's in there, you. know, the sceneries in like the the meat. locker. He broke one of his hands like.
for real and they were worried like, "Oh. [ __ ] we're going to have to take him to. the hospital. This is going to put us. like, you know, a week behind shooting. Everything's going to get shut down. He's not going to be uh he like he'll. get replaced." All this kind of stuff. And so like the the fact that it. actually was successful, he won an Oscar. for it. But it was like, you know, truly. like rags to riches, like unbelievable. how it worked out. >> Owns his [ __ ] though. Yeah. Legendary. >> Yeah. He won against a lot of people, you know, and had success, which people. aren't going to like. >> Mhm. >> From our understanding.
>> Nowhere near his level, but it was an. honor to watch him work. And Pison. special. Whole family committed to the. whole project, every project. Good for. them. Can't wait to read the steps. Somebody read it. >> I will. >> Sweet. >> I didn't know that. I didn't know that. was happening or was a thing. I I. absolutely will read that. >> Oh, no. No. We're back tomorrow. >> Hell yeah. >> Hey, tomorrow is NFL week five eve, >> man. Let's go. >> It's already Tuesday. >> A good one. >> Big one. Thursday. >> It is a Thursday. >> Cowboys Bucks.
>> Okay. All right. >> We them boys as Joey Porter Senior says, right? >> We them boys. >> Who sings that song? We them boys. >> H. That was interesting. >> Who is it? Where's Khalifa? >> Where's he from? >> Pittsburgh. >> Oh, so maybe Joey Porter Senior was just. showing a little love to Pittsburgh when. he was saying we done boys and wallet. >> He certainly wasn't. He said they tried. to keep him out of football for four. weeks. >> Double on Tandra. I got no problem with. him doing that. >> I just didn't want to see it. >> So he blocked him.
>> No. And followed. >> Sweet hat. >> Take care of your house. >> This one? >> Yeah. Is your house clean? >> They don't like. >> You ever seen a quote mistaken like that. one before? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I've seen a lot of. that. But it does feel like that is kind. of the world we live in right now. He's. better clean his house. >> What does he mean by that? Cuz I heard. maybe a 3minut answer that had that. quote in the middle of it somewhere. >> Yeah, I listened to that full question. and answer uh and it was literally uh. it's week four or sorry going into week. five. So we've seen, you know, what the. schedule was for the first four weeks.
That's what Big Mike prepares for. And. we got a little bit of a mini buy after. playing on a Thursday night. And now we. got some things to clean up is basically. what he said. But uh that is not how it. was taken, was it? Um, I've I've seen. this quote everywhere on my timeline. Um, you know, and I be I I thought it. meant something completely different. before I went and actually listened to. the answer. So, I could see how that. gets taken out of u context, but you. know, that's just big Mike saying we. need to fix some things before we go. into week five. >> Pittsburgh Steelers going to win a Super. Bowl this year, AJ?
>> They might, but how did people take. this? I don't understand. >> Fire everybody. >> Yeah, just got to [ __ ] He's great. >> Oh, he's never said we fire everybody. He's talking like mental errors, missed. assignments, things like that. pre- snap. penalties, all that. >> Yeah, we're not worried about other. things. We got a lot of our own [ __ ] we. got to figure out as a way of saying as. opposed to, hey, >> let's take that couch, get it the [ __ ]. out of us. >> I love this back and forth. That was so. great. >> Oh, what a [ __ ]. [ __ ] [ __ ]. >> If you don't like each other, play like. a player and a coach that hate each. other don't really do this that like.
this is a thing where they care about. each other and they can, you know, this. happens. >> That's the. [ __ ] [ __ ] Oh, is he yelling at. me? >> That's that's another part that most, you know, most people just don't see. Now you see, you know, TJ Watt getting. on the headset or who else was another. coach or quarterback kind of getting. after being in me and Mahomes kind of. just having a spirited like it's so much. going on. So much emotion. Yeah, it's a. lot. I mean, yeah, remember the Travis. Kelce bump with Andy Reed? Like that. [ __ ] just happens. It's part of it.
>> Language of love in Pittsburgh. >> Source says tell us immediately after. that moment. >> I love Hey, what's going on? You guys. about to fist fight each other? Source. says, >> "What do you mean?" I saw a video last. night. There was a lot of stuff being. said back and forth. >> I believe [ __ ] [ __ ] is the words. that came out. >> Uh, >> love. >> There's a language of love here in. Pittsburgh. What are you talking about? >> Going from the side. >> Thought you were trying to call and lift. a friend up here.
>> Do you remember that? >> That was his answer. I'm just trying to. do some journalism here, man. >> Oh, come on. Come on. hurt. We already. lost enough. I mean, >> I don't like that picture they put out. of him. >> Who? >> That's why. >> I'll show you guys after. >> Did you like the picture the Houston. Texans put out of CJ Strad? >> No, that was. >> holding the chicken nugget. Stupid. >> Oh, anybody saying on the internet is. this guy's throwing a meatball sub? >> Hi, Italian sub coming right up from. Justin Herbert. That's what people are. saying. Uh that's the this year's.
>> [ __ ] talk is boy it is tasty what you're. throwing to the other team as Toro the. Texans certainly put that back together. as well. He they have not won a game. since he tore the terrible towel which. is bad news. Houston Texans put CJ Strad. right into the fire. Look at this guy. throwing chicken nuggies around. >> I can't wait to put some marinara in a. bun on that thing and he's throwing. chicken palm sandwiches down the field. next week. >> That's what everybody on the internet is. waiting. And you know, it's it's always. great when it's your own people that are. doing it. Like Houston Texans do it. CJ.
Stroud, he has not thrown a pick. No. >> Okay. CJ Strad actually playing okay. football. Pretty good football. They're. 0 and4. But Houston Texans social teams. like, you know what, McDonald's gave us. a good amount of money. Let's [ __ ]. let let's remind people how CJ Stout. showed up to training camp real quick. And we're 0 and4. I'm sure people will. look into how he's actually doing this. season. Not just look at this particular. photo and see the Texans are 0 and4 and. not cook him. This is this is just. dropping right into the fire. We talked. to Bryce Young. >> He had a very adult view on it all. We. assumed CJ Shroud will as well,
>> but I that came across that got sent in. and I'm looking at it. I'm like, >> so who did this? >> The Houston Texans did this. >> Oh no. >> Yikes. >> Can't do that. Just cannot do that to. have JJ Watt with one on a 14. >> Will Anderson. >> something along those covering one. >> We get jump on top of a Nugie. M but. when the trend of the internet is this. guy's throwing [ __ ] tasted to. everybody if he's ass I don't know if we. need to be putting nuggies in the hand.
>> 0 and4 team franchise quarterback having. signed to a long-term deal showed up. looking had a terrible playoff run but. not playing bad football let's go ahead. and [ __ ] drop him into a fire. >> but. a lot of numbies on those nuggies. >> yeah was. >> not a run a lot of quote tweets. >> yeah McDonald's going to give him at. least an extra 2500 bucks for that at. least. Maybe one ticket to a sweet for a game. >> Sure. >> If you're a Texans fan, claim those. nuggets cuz you haven't had a lot to be. happy about. But a 10 piece nuggets.
>> Sweet and sour sauce. >> Positive. >> You know, give you about five five. touchdown. >> Bone started walking to Houston. >> Yeah, he did because of the. >> not going to Mordar anymore. >> He detourred from. >> He's back on. >> Wait, he stopped walked yesterday. >> He's back yesterday. >> I haven't been a week. >> It's crazy. I'm not here like two days. of the week now, you know, because. Mondays and Fridays. So, just popping in. here Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday has. been a fascinating experience for how. the Thunderdome's been going, you know,
whenever we're gone on the weekends and. into Monday. I don't know if Bond's doing much, you. know, just I bought back in here and I I. haven't seen Bowden disappearing, you. know what I mean? Like I I don't know if. that's been happening. And. >> I see Connor working out a lot by. himself. And I don't know what are those. things that are trolls are walking to. Mordor. Who who. >> are you a lonely hobbit? >> You're like a lonely hobbit right now. >> He he he's be back on the wagon. yesterday for a minute there. He was uh. you know faced down and Elvish bread if.
you will, but he is now what is that? >> He is now once again back on the. journey. >> Well done my friend. Well done. >> If you will show, AJ, if you will. All. right. All right. Well, I'm happy to see. Bones back. You guys have been taking. care of the plays rather well. And Bruce. and Mick, good work back there. >> There you go, boys. >> Good work, lads. >> Yesterday starting the way it did, just. with complete failure. >> That's how you start a week. >> Can't have it. >> Only up from there. >> No panic out of Bruce. >> No.
>> Could have been very panic riddled in. that situation. >> There was a little bit, but you know, you just can't really panic. Got to just. keep going. >> That's right. Cuz guess what? Just like. the NFL, there's another game coming. >> Yep. And another one. >> And. >> another one. >> And. >> another one. >> Did you see him on the bike last night? >> Oh, yeah. >> Stanford. Steve. >> looked good. >> That guy's the best. >> The best. >> Actually, he was just roaming behind the. New Orleans Saints. Uh. >> was it the Falcons? Yeah, I think it was. the Falcons. He was just Here's him last.
night waiting to go on set with SVP for. Late Night Sports Center. They do a. great job. He was getting after it. He. was just roaming behind the Falcons. bench at one point. We were standing. there uh right before halftime and. Stanford Steve is out there with us and. we start looking for him. He's just. walking down the sideline just kind of. aimlessly. Big smile on his face walking. around. Comes back. I just seen the. something and it gets so loud in there. I finished my Gatorade bottle. He goes, "You need me to throw it away, grabs it. immediately. Walks back. I think he. throws it into the Falcons trash can on.
the bench. Comes walking back. I'm like, "Steve, you're the [ __ ] best.". >> One of the best rors of all time. Walking right through Nick Folk getting. warmed up in case they got to make a. kick. >> Yeah, Nick Folk is warming up there. Stay for Ste. I got to get to the other. side here. He is the. >> holding court on the sideline. >> They got a good shot of him. >> But he was Gumps and. >> other guy. >> Oh, those two have really become. >> thick as thieves. >> Twop's in a pod. >> Yeah, they really have. Which is good. for Ball, I think, as a whole. But. Stanford Steve, seeing him as much as.
we've seen him now, >> good person to see. >> I got to get the hopes. Good seeing you. guys. >> All right, guys. How about him with a. [ __ ] full press conference last week. at Iowa? >> Oh, yeah. >> I was dreaming of what this would be. >> He's the best. He loves ball, bro. >> Yeah, >> he [ __ ] loves ball. He he did that. entire saliloquy about Iowa and you see. him start to break up about talking. about the hospital and then he continues. to talk and the thing that really got. him the thing that he broke on was.
looking at the the team locked arm in. arm he said then he break out back in. blacks playing it's just a team. it was special man it was powerful it. was like looking at the lads just. [ __ ] ready to go in there is what. actually got him is like the team aspect. of started to break. Obviously talking. about the kids and the special and how. how magical a moment. But whenever he. visualized that team walking out just. arm in- arm, side by side, he just. couldn't take it more. He's just so in. love with the the thought of football.
>> and uh he's perfect for the sport. He. really is. He's perfect for any. environment. >> cuz he knows everybody. >> Yeah. >> Who sat down who sat down next to you. the other day, Gums, at walk-ons? >> Just the owner Stanford. Steve just. owner just sat down walk on [ __ ] up ice. cold beers. >> Steve goes that's Robbie owns the place. goes Jesus Christ. All right. Good to. see the owner here. How you doing? Ste. uh Steve walks into another place. Where. was it? Wallwood. Deadwood. >> Yeah. >> Deadwood. Deadwood. >> Deadwood at Iowa.
>> Imagine all the places around the. country. Yeah. Stamp. >> Oh yeah. And Pete Tho said it. >> over years. >> You don't want to saddle up next to. Steve at the hotel lobby bar either. He'll he'll get you in the deep end. there talking ball. He's going to be in. there talking ball. We're going to have. a lot talking duo. >> Yeah, she certainly is. Hey, I heard we. won. >> Yeah, they did. Yep. Big win. It sounds. like Stanford Steve might have to, you. know, fly out, maybe be the OC or. something. I don't know. >> Are they running duo out there or what? >> I don't, you know, I don't know. personnel wise if they can really handle. all the stuff Steve was throwing at him.
But, uh, we'll see. Long season. >> I didn't see one single note taken by a. head coach. >> Yeah, I mean, he was pretty boozed up, so I don't know. Who knows if he even. remembers, you know, talking about all. that kind of stuff. What's the name of. the high school we're pulling for in. Iowa? >> Uh, Columbus. >> And we won. >> Got big win. >> Maybe he needs to do that every Thursday. night. >> I think he might. >> Think he might already. >> Does the other guy do basketball stuff. in the offse? >> Yeah. >> He goes to hoops. >> Yeah, hoops. Yeah, >> he goes to practice right now. Yeah.
>> But does he like report from the. sidelines during basketball game day? >> He plays. >> Just goes to hoops, games. Hoops. >> He plays. >> He plays for the teams. >> Oh, that's pretty cool. Got to get the. hoops. >> He's on the bench. Donner, you you stick. around and watch some of these games. late. It's a blowout. You'll [ __ ] see. him. >> See him going in. >> Check it in. >> Hit me. >> Can you imagine? Hopefully he WEARS A. HEADBAND. >> BALL ON THE BLOCK. On the block. >> He's definitely playing great defense. >> I'm guaranteeing they feed him. I'm. guaranteeing they feed him as Stanford.
seed gets on a court. >> He's the best. Good energy, good vibes. Football. The bestest. Uh. he he did not know he was going to be. doing it for a minute and a half. He. thought that was definitely a 20 second. or send to that break. They just kept. that thing going on. Jay's still going. right. >> He got up there and made some good. picks. Talked to Bejon, talked to Brian. Robinson, SVP changed his tie. There was. some discussion by numerous members of. the panel last night on Monday Night. Countdown how it felt pretty obvious.
that the Falcons probably going to win. this game. Felt pretty obvious with how. good they were. couldn't go against the. 20 year anniversary. >> Yeah, you could. >> I don't know. Could you imagine being. the one? Well, I guess J-Mack was You. got the win. >> Yeah, needed. >> But you walk He did. Yeah, he did. He He. said it openly, too. He said, "I don't. care what you guys are doing. I need a. win. >> I'm going with the Falcons." Cuz I said. the thing about game day that makes it. so difficult is you get there and you. feel like the energy of it and it feels.
special. It's like, is there a chance. this team can win? If there's a chance. this team can win, I would like that. to be what's probably gonna happen like. when I'm making my picks. I don't know. which team I'm picking in the morning. whenever I go over usually. >> for Iowa Ohio State. I thought there was. no chance I was going to win that game. I I thought they to be quite frank. >> Huh. >> Me neither really to be quite frank. >> Yeah. And I don't think a lot of people. did. But I had zero I gave them a 0%. chance to win which is why I picked. against them. But if I go out there and. on the field which is normally the games.
that we're at, both teams can win. in. college football, anybody could win. If. it feels like they can win and it feels. special, I'm like, let's go with that. team. It felt special at Iowa on the. field. I didn't think there was a. chance, especially because Ohio State. had already lost. Like this weekend, >> I'm eager to see what the vibes are. >> I'm very eager to see what the vibes are. there. You know, >> and people get What am I supposed to do. at the end there for the last pick? Am I. supposed to just [ __ ] say, "Hey, this. is the team. I like her.". >> Yeah, that's what they brought you there. for. >> Just say this what I like. Mhm.
>> Rest in peace to the headgear. Obviously, that was an incredible thing. >> Legendary. >> It was legendary. It was a great idea. Oh, yeah. It was an incredible concept. and could be paying homage, you know, to. an icon every single week. >> Mhm. >> Could be, you know, but instead just. microphone [ __ ] group of people. Go. ahead and go. Good luck out there, pal. Got a minute 30 till the end of this. >> All right. You got it. got a couple. hundred people back there chanting for. you to take your shirt off. All right.
Or are they just gonna talk over what. I'm saying because I need them to listen. a little bit here, you know, because. what I'm gonna say needs something. So, it's an interesting little predicament. Lucky to be a part of it. I do think the. headgear could have been an homage to. Lee Corso. And also, it's something. that's very special to every single. college campus, but the decision was. made for it not to happen. So, now I. just got to get these [ __ ] right, you. know? >> Yeah. Really? >> That's what. >> I just got to get them right. Nobody. gets them all right. Have you ever been. swayed? I know you, you know, you talk.
about environment, players. You ever. been swayed by a coach interaction? >> Oh, when they showed up on the set. >> I'm just saying. Yeah. Either on the set. pre Yeah. >> Yes. >> Yeah. >> Yes. Who was it? Kaylin Dbor showed up. in his his pin. >> Oh, yeah. Kind of sloppy. >> Yeah. >> SEC Championship. >> The other way. >> Also, you said Sarkc this year. Remember. you said how calm Sarkc was. >> Yeah. Sarkc showed up uh whenever Ohio. State went to Texas. Showed up on the. set. I was going Ohio State for sure. the North. Yeah, right. I think. Undertaker, obviously huge Texas fan. He. was expecting me to just immediately I.
get a I get a message, you know, from a. lot of Texas people that's like, I don't. like what you're doing with those horns. You need to [ __ ] watch how you're. doing this, you know? So, I walk up to. take in real life and I go like this is. literally what I do. And he goes, "Don't. you [ __ ] don't you?" And I and he. goes, "Don't you." And then he gets But. I was going to pick Ohio State. I was. going to do the entire thing. What a. start to the season, too. First time I'm. in Austin. I'm going for the North. Just. kind of setting a precedent on it all.
Then Stark gets up there. I've never. seen a more [ __ ] relaxed guy. And. it's like, is there a chance Texas going. to win tonight? Yeah, there certainly. is. This place, it's been a thousand. degrees. They're packed out. Feels like. it's going to be a special night. >> I'm like, you know what? Yeah, [ __ ] it. All right, I'll go with Texas. Let's do. it. And they end up getting a huge That. was 120 I think it was 160 degrees on. the turf there. >> Yeah, it was something like that. Yeah. on that little area there probably 110. it felt like and they were just posted. up the entire morning and Sarkc was.
feeling the way he was feeling it's like. yeah I think Texas is going to win. actually miss same thing I plan on. picking against them because I had LSU. winning the national championship and. then I walk out there to the Grove for. the first that's my first time ever. seeing it it's like holy [ __ ] this is a. >> this is a real this is a real atmosphere. here this tonight's going to and then. you start talking to them and it's like. yeah we need this one we need this one. we need this one and Golding comes on. the show is like I like Golding. I like. Golding a lot. I like these people a. lot. Yeah, [ __ ] I think they are going.
to So, I'm a lot of that as opposed to. like uh. >> you know necessarily just having a. decision on today on who's going to win. Georgia. >> I have a good lean though. >> I have a good lean for this weekend. >> Okay. >> I have a good lean for this weekend. >> I really like Keelin Russell. Oh, >> and on the flip side, >> I was going to say. >> Kirby Smart. >> I really like Kirby Smart. >> Yeah. >> And what's that coming down the track? You know, nobody's really been talking.
about the mean machine in the red and. black. And there ain't nothing finer in. the land than a drunk drunk, obnoxious. Georgia fan. >> I think this weekend's a big celebration. for Bama. Sabin's coming back. It's. going to be a tough one. >> It's a good one. It's a good ball game. >> Good ball. >> It's going to be a tough one to figure. out. We'll be doing a lot of vibe stuff. I'm worried I'm gonna be swayed early. because I think I'm watching Doc on. Thursday night. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> There's gonna be a lot of Tuscaloosa. Bama stuff in there. It's almost like. propaganda. >> Saving a walking through that door with.
you on Saturday. >> You know set with you brother guys. >> I know. I know. I know. I know. But it's. saving field. >> Yeah. >> What's that? >> I'm act like the board is just some. piece of [ __ ]. >> No, no, no. >> No, we're not. No, we are not. >> Good ball coach. We watch them in. national championship. >> We like them. You know, love him. >> We like. >> talking about there's levels. >> There are levels. >> What are you saying? >> Saving on his own level. >> Yeah, saving there. No one's ever done. what he does. >> Yeah. And D'Bor knows he's walking on.
the saving field every time he's out. >> KBY's on a level, too. >> Yeah, >> exactly. >> Definitely. >> Who is going to win? AJ Early Lean, Bama, Georgia. >> I feel like your early lean might be. Georgia. That's what I'm kind of getting. from that. No, I feel like I did the. >> I my my only lean is Georgia to be. honest with you. >> I feel like I did the highwire pretty. good right there. I feel like I did a. pretty good highwire of not giving it. away even though I know which way I want. to go right now. >> It kind of reminds you of those old. matchups where Bama had saving and they. always they had the better team but then.
it was like so it's kind of flipped. The. other team was a good team. They had a. mobile quarterback and that's always the. great equalizer. So I feel like that's. the same way here like coaching wise. even like culture standard all that [ __ ]. right now I would lean Georgia but that. X factor is the quarterback. >> and. >> yeah he can so I mean it's tough though. >> two and one against Kirby Smart Lifetime. >> we like that stadium too we've been in. there. >> it is. >> that place is sweet. >> real and I think Miss Terry is a part of.
their entire in-game process we're going. to only learn more about that through. the documentary six or seven episode. docue series on saving it. >> all in one night. >> What do you think? >> Wait, so I didn't know it's a six-part. thing. >> Seven maybe. I I think the number. >> Are they showing all of it? They're. showing the whole thing at once. >> No, I don't know. I'm going to a thing. I don't think we're watching all every. episode. >> 7 to 4. >> No, I think that's the plan is they're. going to start it at 8:00 p.m. and you. guys will wrap it about 4:30 in the.
morning and then. >> that'll be sick. I've never been a part. of anything like that before. So, >> all right, cool. I I Yeah, I'll be ready. for saving. I'll do it. >> Right. >> He's becoming a little bit more of an. entertainer. >> Oh, yeah. >> He's starting to become a little bit. more of an entertainer. People getting. real mad about him dabbling into the TV. a little bit. >> If I was still coaching, I'd be trying. to get this guy in the transfer portal. Joke from Nick Sabin. All of a sudden, this piece of [ __ ] this guy, it's like,
ah, come on. How about I would I love. this place. I've had 16 out of 17 cigars. were playing your ass. This guy has no. class. This guy has no class. It's like. he's doing Sam's getting really good at. the TV. Like really good at the TV. Really comfortable. And he's been. working his ass off with the promotion. of this documentary. >> I think I think he's pretty pumped for. this thing to get out. >> and then to move on. >> and just kind of see other. >> I thought he went on I didn't get to see. it. He went on Theo Vaughn on his. podcast. I need to watch. >> Theo. He went on with Mad Dog, which.
obviously he's been on every show, you. know. He's been on every show and I. think for the first time long time they. just opened it up to media requests and. then everybody that has ever had a media. request sent it in and I think he just. felt obligated. Well, thank you for. being you know interested. All right. And then go and then all of a sudden it. becomes hey you got 16 of these things. real quick and oh yeah protect college. sports act. Let's talk about that for. the first 15 minutes of this thing that. is happening right now. It's not a part. of your documentary but it's obviously a. big part of your life and legacy.
whenever it's all said and done. So, I'm. pumped to watch this. I'm pumped to see. what we can learn about the man who. would go on to become the greatest of. all time. >> Stacked cast of characters doing. confessionals and sit down interviews. Uh, West Virginia boy has certainly done. good. And they got some inside the. locker room stuff that he didn't know. they had, I guess. >> Yeah. >> And a lot of these players are like, "Oh, pumped for the world to hear that.". I wonder what coach Sabin thought. whenever they were like, "Hey, we got. footage from inside locker room whenever. you decide to put two in over Jaylen.
Herz." Really? >> Yeah. >> Who's the rat? Who was it? >> We also, you remember halftime when you. said blah blah blah. And he goes, "Yeah." They go, "We got video of that, too." And him just going, "Oh, no. What. What other video do they have?" And I. think that's a big part of this. The. amount of transparency, the amount of. footage that has never been seen before. that they haven't let out. I think it's. going to be a good one. I am. >> I think that's the best way to do a doc. documentary like you know you definitely. want some say so on what goes out about. you but it's it won't be the real won't.
be as good of a documentary if you you. know you too hands on and you tell no I. don't want that in there I'm not. comfortable with that I think that's the. point like you want to see the highs the. lows the good the bad the ugly so I'm. I'm definitely because we live through. that era we saw it on the football field. where it felt like every year B was. going to go undefeated win that. championship have a Heisman at running. back and then you kind of saw it evolve. with Tua and then Devonte winning a. Heisman miss. So, I'm very very And then. him stepping away going like I'm I'm. very very intrigued what's going to.
happen with. >> I wonder if they have any game day stuff. in there. >> I would assume something. Yeah. >> Oh, you mean like him on game day? >> Yeah, >> cuz you got to end it like towards the. end or whatever. You got to show update. kind of what daily life looks like now. You would think the person that owns the. production company that did this. I I I assume he'll do good. I don't. know. I assume they'll do a great job. because the story's immaculate. But I. wonder which portions they do kind of. focus on, you know, because obviously. those creative decisions are certainly a.
part of this. >> Six or seven parts. They should be able. to cover a decent amount. >> Yeah. >> Think. >> you would hope. >> Is it all going to be out at once? How. do I for me if I'm not going to the. premiere how do I watch. >> I want beyond episode. >> what you don't want to go to the. premiere either have you been in you've. been you've. >> have not been invited I haven't not been. invited that I would not know Terry has. a baby. >> somebody answer AJ is it going to be. released. >> all every episode Thursday. >> okay. >> okay. >> is it six or seven episodes.
>> is each one an hour you going to you go. in seven hours you didn't direct the. thing you think he knows all these. [ __ ] information godamn Look it up. >> I assume. >> figure it out. >> I think they're reporting it's six. episodes, I think. >> That is good. >> This is being reported. >> What was the last dance? 10. >> 10. >> Yeah. >> It's good. >> Brady's was 10. >> Jerry's was very good, too, right? >> So, we assume Sabins will be very good. >> Yes. >> All right. >> I hope it's unedited.
>> Oh, no. ESPN six-part documentary series. premieres on October 8th. release. schedule airs weekly starting Thursday, October 8th through November 5th, 2026. >> Uh, I'm also seeing. >> Yeah, I got the the dates of the. episodes and the episode names. >> So, all six are coming out on Thursday. >> No, I I am also seeing on the AI thing. like that, all six episodes will be. available to stream on the ESPN app at. the time of launch. >> Yeah, I saw that. I heard that. yesterday. Somebody said that on a TV.
somewhere. I don't know what's real and. what's not. How about that? A little bit. of mystery here. >> Little bit of mystery. Thursday it. starts. >> Does it end? We We'll find out. >> We'll see. What do we prefer? The weekly. drops or just been able to binge it. >> I like weekly. I'm a big weekly guy cuz. I know I know that once a week I got a. show to watch for an hour. >> Need two of them though. >> I think you have to drop two each time. >> I I I think I need to be able to watch.
more than one episode. >> with you. I just personally in the. modern streaming era, I think a happy. medium would be if you give us a couple. episodes as opposed to all the episodes. cuz I think a lot of these streaming. platforms have put a lot of money into. things and then they dominate for a day. and a half and everybody streams and. then never watch again and it's like. well we just all we want is people come. to our platform, they came to our. platform and then they disappeared. again. So I I think there is going to be. the rollout [ __ ] still like the old. days, but I think we need to be able to.
feel like we're streaming still. Like I. I I need to be able to get in the second. episode and fall asleep during it, >> you know? I Yeah. And come back. I need. that. >> I like to all all at once now now that. I'm thinking about because it's so it's. so many things to watch and when I. actually get to maybe on a flight or. whatever it may be, you want to you know. sometimes you just want to oh [ __ ] like. this is really good. What's going to you. know usually live leave live off on a. cliffhanger. So I like kind of watching. because you know two weeks down the line. something completely different may have. dropped out or some other new show may. have debuted or football see like it's.
so much [ __ ] going on battling for your. attention. Just give it to me all let me. figure it out. >> when I have time to watch three. episodes. Let me watch three episodes. >> Yes. >> Mhm. >> That's me personally. >> Me too. >> Makes sense. >> But I need at least two. >> I need at least two. I can't do just. one. I can't do what? You want all six? >> All of them at once. >> You're a big binger though, right? Uh, I. will watch stuff for hours at a time for. sure, but I just like having the option. >> Yeah, I like the freedom.
>> If it's one at a time, I it's. >> absolute cinema if it's once a week. >> Locked in our home. >> It's a lot of attention each week that. we're going to have to pay. Yeah. You. know, >> life on the edge. I'm dangling my feet. >> I tried to pay attention, but attention. paid me. Mhm. >> It's hard to want to watch something. every single week. >> if they just give I'm just going to wait. till it's all out. Probably now that I. think about it. And maybe. >> it might all be out on Thursday. >> We don't know.
>> Is it going to be Thursday? We got. Thursday Night Football [ __ ]. >> bingo. >> Yeah, but that game's going to suck. So, >> we got the fun belt tonight, too. >> What's that? >> Fun belt tonight. >> Who's playing? >> We got uh Southern Miss catching 10 at. Troy. >> Standalone game. Oh, fun belt Tuesday. >> Little taking on it. >> Party in the QA. >> What are you getting so mad about over. there? By the way, it feels like you've. been a little bit upset about baseball. >> Conor said no thanks. I agree with him. I love football. I love football. I'm.
[ __ ] piss off. I end up watching. Southern Miss at Troy on a Tuesday. night. >> After baseball. >> Give me a [ __ ] break. No way. >> Yeah, but Tai's thinking after. baseball's coming soon with this Yankees. team. >> Yeah, but I'll still watch the playoffs. I'm just saying I. >> Daz Brewers. She going to have to do a. little bit more in Southern Miss Detroit. to get me to join in on Tuesday night. >> Dodgers Braves 6:00 on TBS. Brewers. Padres's 9:30. Who's pitching? Uh, Mama. Yamamoto Chris. How about Brewers. Padres? >> I don't know what to pitch. >> Pavetta is going for the Dads. And then,
uh, Dusty May is going for the Brewers. >> Oo, that's that's good pitching, right? >> Um, Paveta is is has had a great career. Um, Dusty May got traded from the. Cardinals, I believe, mid-season to the. Brewers. He's he's pretty good. He's. solid. Uh not their ace. Obviously, Miz. is their ace and he's not their number. two or three, but you know, he's solid. >> I would say they're going to try to get. to the they want four innings out of. Dusty and then they're going to try to. let the bullpen kind of take over there. I mean, we'll see. They got they had a. day off, but. >> the Mason Miller threw 40 pitches the.
other night. So, the the Brewers are at. quite an advantage tonight. >> Pav Paveta is a lunatic on the mound. >> What do you mean? He's jumping up and. down. >> Pitcher smacking himself in the head. He's He's the man. Pitch for the Red Sox. for a long time. >> Okay, I'll responsibly gamble on a. psycho up thereer and then Chris Sale. obviously. What? >> Brewers are tough. >> Dusty May I Brewers are a good ball. team. I don't know about Dusty. >> Dusty May used to play for the Red Sox. >> Eddie was terrible.
>> Bingo. So you can see where. >> Well, everyone who leads the Red Sox. who's a pitcher is [ __ ] unbelievable. wherever they go. >> What about Skipper Murphy, too? Am I. going to be. >> against. >> I mean that should have won game one. [ __ ] robbed. So you you keep calling. the Padres's dads. >> Yeah. >> Is that what everybody calls them? The. Dadres. >> Well, Padres's is Spanish for dads. So, >> Oh, okay. You call them fathers? >> Could call them fathers? >> San Diego fathers. >> I think Gumps kind of got me on the. dad's thing to be honest. >> I like that. The Canadians have good. lingo. >> Yeah. Same with Doyer.
>> We have a hockey uh. >> are a great team. We have a hockey guy. around us every single Monday. things. that come out of this guy's mouth. Unfucking believable. Just never ends. There's a never- ending supply of. phrases or descriptors that you have. never heard before. Have heard each word. individually. Never seen them pieced. together the way that this [ __ ] guy. has done it. You should you've you seen. John yet? >> Oh yeah. >> Good conversation last Monday. >> His head just a full I mean this thing's.
an entire blog. >> Yeah. And it's filled, I think, with. just hockey and Canadian phrases at any. time. And then his hands, >> he's got heavy hands. >> Heavy mitts. >> Likes to play hockey a heavy way. Yeah. Hey, Denver's starting back up. DU. hockey team, national champs. >> Yep. >> They're starting back up here in the. next week or so. I believe they got BC. here in two weeks. >> Oh, >> I think they're playing the United. States uh academy out of Michigan here. this week or whatever it is. And then. they got BC and then also Boston.
>> Alaska. They open up in Alaska maybe. Yeah, they got over there in Alaska. We're going to be paying attention to. college hockey this year because [ __ ]. Big John's going to be. >> he was wearing these Sketchers. He broke. his [ __ ] foot week one. >> Guy was walking around in slippers. Thought I was going to fix a broken. foot. Dude, >> these shoes were the worst I've ever. seen. >> Absurd things I've ever seen foot for a. month. >> Yeah, but I'm wearing [ __ ] shoes with. some platforms on them now. This guy was. wearing slippers walking around then. when he's sitting in a chair with his. shoe off.
>> He was unbelievable. >> Hell of a run for Big John. Yeah, Big. John's really being and Big John's been. doing a lot of searching of the internet. of things that are said. You just go, "Hey, you really got the bank all worked. up." So, we had to check into this. obviously. It's like, "Thank you so. much, Big John, for doing that. I. appreciate you and Big Joe." Two polar. opposite human beings. >> Yeah. >> Two polar opposite human beings. Literally, figuratively. >> Big John and Big Joe. We appreciate the. hell out of them. AJ, wait till you meet. these guys. Have you seen Spongebob? They're calling him Sponge. Yeah, I saw.
he he gave me a poster board to bring in. to the to your you guys do a little. meeting the other day. >> Let's get to a break. We'll be back. tomorrow. Thank you, Bruce. >> You're doing great, Bruce. >> You are. >> I'm really proud of you, Bruce. >> The mic like Foxy really with the mic. and everything to cut to yourself and. say something that that might be the. most impressed part. But um yeah, I. missed that you there. If we want to get. another I.
