[Applause]. now is amazing and congrats to dolphins. big win last night on Monday Night. Football they moved to three and six. they get a massive win over the Rams and. don't look now with two of back at. quarterback that offense is able to move. the defense is able to get some spot uh. stops and in a big spot on Monday night.

in Los Angeles the Miami Dolphins come. out Victorious on a wonderful Monday. night football match up for a quick take. on that let's go to one half of the. hammer Cowboys bubble gumpo Gumpy. congrats to your Dolphins brother yeah. three and six Raiders and Patriots. coming up at home be five- six heading. to Green Bay for Thanksgiving okay five. and six in a couple weeks if you're able. to get those wins you're talking about. maybe a playoff spot here gumps that's. what it sounds like got to go on a run. boys if not now then we are cooked. defense looked unreal last night who.

else in the AFC are you guys competing. with for that seventh seed to sneak in. for the Wild Card Bengals Colts and. Broncos oh good luck cuz Colts found. something okay the Colts found something. big news out congrats to the. Dolphins that's huge life is really good. I got a chance to watch the Dolphins. play against Colts a few weeks ago that. was terrible and uh that was very tough. to watch obviously Dolphins fans thought. maybe Tu was never going to come back. and play for a bit and they had this. PTSD like the last 100 years of and a.

dolphins fan of never been able to win. and now all of a sudden you get a little. bit of a spork Tyreek Hill ends up with. a touchdown I saw Odell Beckham Jr catch. the ball and then larat Tyreek Hill. after he caught the touchdown you know. had everybody mooving moster got in in. the second half saw two hands on the. ball I mean you're talking about maybe. the Dolphins are able to go on a run. good luck to you you know a team that uh. might go on a run who's that team just. fired her offense Corner oh yeah sure. Chicago Bears have officially removed. Shane Waldren as the offensive. coordinator for the Chicago Bears as of.

this morning Eber flu spoke yesterday. and obviously he had a lot to say and he. said Shane is our offense coordinator as. of now this morning I guess they had. more meetings more conversations Shane. Waldren at as the OC for the Chicago. Bears let's go back uh to this offseason. when Jackson Smith and jigo was speaking. with the Chicago talk show uh and they. asked about Shane Waldren who obviously. was the offense coordinator for Seattle. Seahawks last year Jackson Smith and jig. ball obviously on the Seattle Seahawks. so right question with be what are we.

getting here let's take a listen Bears. fans are super interested about the. offensive coordinator coming in Shane. walr what can you tell them about who. they just hired to to uh try to get this. offense where it needs to. go. um this is this is. live we're not live we're not live I'm. playing. um uh good luck to y'all I mean he he's. a okay so I mean that was literally how. it started and Jackson Smith and jigo. was out he's he's young rookie okay so.

what does he know who knows but I think. what a lot of people in Seattle knew is. the offense wasn't you know fantastic so. then there was a lot of chatter this. morning on uh the morning shows on ESPN. about how nobody really wanted to go in. there and be the OC you know ebra flu. how how long of a leash does he have as. the Chicago Bears head coach you have a. lot of weapons don't have an offensive. line well let's look at some of the. stats we got obviously about the Chicago. Bears offense thus far highest sack rate. in the NFL 10.7% of the drop backs 28th.

in explosive play rate 4.2% of the plays. 23rd in success rate on first down and. then obviously they've scored an NFL low. 10 points in the first quarter across 22. drives now there's a lot more stats to. say that they stink I think we all see. that offensive line not fantastic the. sacks is that on the o line all of them. or is it on Caleb I think he got sacked. like nine times last week whatever the. case is 35 sacks in total I mean it is a. lot of times him being tackled is it. because of him is it because of the. offensive line is it because of the. plays nobody's open who knows but what.

they did know is that Shane Waldren. can't be the guy in control of this. offense anymore let's go to nine-year. NFL vet host of everything DB good D bad. D ladies and gentlemen Darius J Butler. is here looking very cool dbut what are. your thoughts on the move I think. expected yeah I think it is a good way. to describe it but is this something. that's going to turn their season around. or at least the future I mean we kind of. saw this coming it's hard to say turning. the future around or or turning you know. turning things around even this season. you still got the same Personnel how. much can uh the new OC Thomas Brown who.

was their pass game coordinator he was. previously in Carolina with Frank Wright. with uh Bryce young and uh so when you. get these young quarterbacks feel good. number one first and foremost okay. yeah but hey there's been some good. things said from the people in the. building I know that's been around uh. Thomas Brown big accountability guy. which we obviously know we need that but. for the quarterbacks man it always. starts with protection first and. foremost you got to have the protection. up front some of the things I don't know. what's going on in the building some of. the things are obviously on Caleb. Williams a lot of people were saying.

Caleb is you know regressing he's played. 10 10 games in the National Football. League this is kind of who he is right. now as a quarterback obviously we know. he's talented but you got to have. protection so that you can actually get. some use and production out of those. great weapons that they do um have. outside but uh of Target throws spacing. not a bunch of defined throws and reads. for Caleb right now so hopefully they. can fix that um and see you know what he. can really do with his uh Talent yeah. allegedly there was a couple meetings. ever had by veteran players that want. and spoke to polls Andy hlu and asked.

for Shane Waldron's removal so listen. this ain't okay we ain't doing this this. guy how come whenever they put what our. offense looks like on camera or in like. a ours looks so stupid and then. everybody else's looks so awesome that's. because Shane walren and then allegedly. there was also some people saying like. hey maybe Tyler uh the bagman the B the. B bent world's strongest yeah allegedly. that was a report out of uh W and Sylvie. which I believe is a very legit show out.

of Chicago right zto yep been around a. long time Sylvie W and Sylvie uh sports. radio after talking to a few people a. knowledge of the situation players want. to eberl and Ryan PA is asking them make. a change offensive coordinat there have. also been a few veteran players. requesting that uh beIN starts you know. and obviously we watch Hard Knocks we. got a chance to learn about beun his dad. and everything like that are they asking. for bent to start because they think. Caleb needs to just watch her a little. bit like hey we think he's been thrusted. into a situation where it hasn't gone. well he's getting his ass beat out there. sacked more than anybody else in the NFL. we're already through one offense.

coordinator is there a chance maybe for. Caleb just to sit back and watch and see. kind of how this whole thing goes takes. a deep breath and moves forward are they. saying that or are they saying we don't. think this guy's got it we would like. Tyler beer to come in and find out if. he's got it I there's multiple different. ways you can look at it because. obviously there's a bunch of different. situations that have happened in the. past round the NFL let's just look at. this year uh Bryce young gets benched. for Andy Dalton this year gets a. different perspective at it for the. first time in his life he's not the guy. that's expected to do everything for a. program be a quarterback of the.

organization in the meetings in practice. in the cafeteria in the locker room. everywhere you know you're certain. quarterback it's a different game he got. a chance to sit back watch it. re-evaluate take a breath I think you. probably got a chance to take a breath. and now he gets back in they're winning. games Carina Panthers are winning game. all of a sudden it's a vastly different. situation you look at Anthony Richardson. with what's going on right now with Joe. flacko will he take this as a chance to. take a breath and take a perspective. change learn a little bit kind of. realize it's a little different game. then whenever he goes back is he going.

to benefit from it is that why they're. pitching for him not to play or is it. because they think he stinks because. there are stats that come. out in any rebuttal from Caleb Williams. or his Camp would be have you seen who's. protecting for him no offense has ever. been good without a good offensive line. but there's a lot of stats coming out. that maybe you know the reason why the. offensive line is bad is because. sometimes he doesn't make the right. decision and when he doesn't make the. right decision plays extended and he. can't do as much as that as you did. in college so then you're going to get. sacked there's always always going to be. counterarguments in this entire thing.

but whenever you talk about offt Target. throws and everything like this what do. you think Shane Waldren is saying today. do you think Shane Waldren is saying. well I was supposed to have a guy that. was supposed to be a magic man they were. calling him Patrick Mahomes he's not. Patrick Mahomes or do you think he. understands that him uh was just he was. just not a great offensive coordinator. for any of the situ I mean he's he's. young like we we I always go back like. it's hard to play in a National Football. League I don't care where you drafted. number one 100 150 like it's tough to. come in and play and not Shane did a. good job with Gino Smith but Gino Smith.

was some over the high pick I think the. second round pick had been around had. been a backup had seen things had been a. different system different meeting rooms. around different quarterbacks so when he. got to Seattle had that another. opportunity he had saw it from so many. different perspectives so for Caleb. Williams as talented as he is and this. big pedestal High pedestal that a lot of. us put him on coming into the league. especially with the setup that they had. in Chicago we just expected more but. it's tough to come in this league and. play and play well we've seen flashes. I've seen enough to know okay he can. play on this level he has the physical.

tools not only the mobility but the arm. strength the accuracy all those. different things but you just got to. learn you got to go through some of. these patches same thing with Anthony. Richardson same thing with Bryce young. and then some of these guys will come. out and be better on the other side so. you know hopefully that's what we see. here with Caleb you hate cuz we see this. story so many times young quarterbacks. you know you get to year three year four. and they've been through four or five. different coordinators of different. voices so that's tough to get some. continuity there uh but I think the. future is still bright for Caleb for so. Caleb regardless what happens unless old.

buddy comes in and just kills it and. operates the same offense that Jane. walren was operating which you wouldn't. because that offense was obviously. terrible so next year he's going to be. on his third offense in three years. right CU Lincoln Riley USC then this one. then the next year and let's say they. don't figure out the offensive line or. that offense isn't great what are you. gonna have to do well he's number one. overall pick so we're gonna have to make. then he's going to be in his fourth. offense in four years and then all of a. sudden if they do have success next year. let's say they do have success next year. while that offens coordinator is getting. plucked go somewhere he's going to be. it's like a. NeverEnding supply of you're going to.

have to adapt and get things right early. now I think what one half of the hammer. done Cowboys AP Ton's face just lit up. about is because this is the eighth. member of ebra flu's coaching staff that. has either resigned or been fired in the. last 14 months okay so normally whenever. you're standing in the middle of a fire. inevitably it's going to catch up of. course you know you can kind of get the. couch it's on fire get l us sure you can.

get the recliner out of house you can. get maybe the the the cabinets or. whatever you can get them out but. inevitably that thing is going to you. know you can do this a lot and then it's. going to at some point come this way so. I think a lot of people in Chicago are. potentially expecting head coaching. change at the end of this season and if. they do that who do they go get is it a. guy that maybe uh is no longer the. of the Walk at the University in which. he is the head coach and knows Caleb. very very well in Lincoln Riley or is it.

a guy who has been an offensive. coordinator in college at USC has been a. head coach in the NFL before and is now. leading a rookie quarterback to another. historic season in Cliff kingsbery is it. Ben Johnson is it slowick there's a lot. of opportunity out there but nonetheless. all of it kind of revolves around. another offense coming in next year for. Caleb Williams third and three years. yeah because of what you said where you. know you talked about does is the OC. successful and then OC leaves that's why. you know we love flu but obvious they're.

gonna make a change we love Flo I don't. think. Chicago they don't they do not like SI. because of what you said it has to be an. offensive guy because you can't risk. where bringing in a defensive head coach. and that OC then gets plucked and then. Caleb's got another OC in there and it. has to be Ben Johnson you have to back. up the track for like offer him $20. million a year who cares if it doesn't. work out whatever you're going to have. to pay a new coach anyways go get Ben. Johnson and make it happen zto just uh. told me here's another fun fact as he.

know Chicago Bears fan he said the only. coach that is still around with ebra flu. from the beginning now is the offensive. line coach and they're great yeah yeah. wow great that's what z z z just came. just another thing to think about the. only coach is still there is the. offensive line coach offensive line. obviously very shitty is what zido uh. he's Chicago Bears fan that's what he. just said and Y there it is so I think. that's how they're feeling as a whole. you win a game though obviously that. subsides for another week but if you. lose and it looks bad and people are.

worried about the future being ruined. too cuz remember not a lot of. quarterbacks have come through Chicago. no no no okay not a lot of number one. overall picks I like this have come. through Chicago and it's like we finally. get a guy that's supposed to be a guy. and then we're going to ruin him again I. don't think so that's how Bears fans are. feeling right now I think yeah but. that's the thing too and like of course. the offensive Line's a problem they give. up nine sacks that's terrible but you. know the Patriots have statistically the. worst or second worst offensive line in. all football I mean they've had 11. different you know lineups in. or 10 different lineups I guess in 10.

games whatever it is but every Monday I. come in here and I'm like Drake May is. so good at football no matter what and. his old line also very very terrible it. but but like you don't get that from. Caleb I feel like like I feel great. about Drake May because he can do stuff. like this and he's making great throws. all over the field and that's on time. right there on that's what I mean on. time where it's supposed to go throwing. where only his guy could catch it and. guys covered yeah let's still throw it. and put it into a place where only my. guy can catch it it's those moment yeah. in a spot and and it's not like he's.

throwing to DJ Moore and Kon Allen and. you know ninth overall 10th overall Roma. dun Cole KT guys who are paid at weapons. he's throwing to Austin Hooper on a. one-year deal KJ Osborne one-year deer. pop Douglas and his second year like I. think that is another reason why Bears. fans are so upset because they've paid. all these weapons obviously the. offensive line is not good also paid the. running back like I think it's more so. just because of the like the third and. five at the feet or the second and eight.

sailing it over the head like that also. I feel as though just because I just. watched it you know and I was in the. suite and I was you know looking left. and right like holy hell this guy stinks. compared to Drake man obviously he. doesn't stink I do think you know Shane. Waldren 13 years ago was coaching my. high school team and they went five and. three you know I think that is another. thing that has to be considered but when. you're just. watching # stack that Buckingham Brown. and Nichols Cambridge Massachusetts you. can look it up I so best league in New.

England but Shane didn't win there he. did not win there they went 5 and three. and a lot of people say that is one of. the best high school football teams ever. assembled also completely true not not. even kidding but the it's the little. things from Caleb this guy is suck since. the B that's what well and of course. like I'm not saying guys you know in 10. years aren't unbelievable like Kevin. oconnell he said on the flacko miked up. he's like I started coaching 11 years. ago and you know here you are still. playing and Kevin oconnell great head. coach you know definitely a QB Whisperer.

quarterback Guru offensive genius it's. just like maybe it didn't work out for. Shane walon and we're kind of seeing it. but I think the blaming the O Line's. tough yeah I agree blaming the o line. for anything is uh obviously going to be. difficult they have a hard job but. whenever you see these stats of how many. sacks it is it's hard not to be like. well this guy can't be protected but. then you watch some of the highlights. and it's like is that guy open right now. who you're supposed to throw to but. you're deciding to go through the entire. thing because like what has been taught. yeah. yeah and then like like you said with.

the guy yesterday on the field goal. block like once you have that bleeder. once you find that fish or flaw. protection or hey they're they're having. problems with this you know post Snap. rotation like defensive coordinator is. going to keep cooking up we always talk. about hey when you have a book on a guy. that's that's veteran guys so especially. when you have a rookie and you keep. putting these different things in front. of them on money Downs play action all. these different things it's like okay. now you start seeing ghost things start. happening fast defensive coordinates. start giving you okay make you win with. your left hand like that that's tough to. do so you got to have that protection.

sometimes it's a big help for young. quarterbacks to have like a veteran in. front like a Jason Kelce or a guy in. front of you smart that can call out all. the protections do handle all that sh. hey you you deal with reading these guys. down the field I'll deal with the. Protections in fronts um so it's tough. It's a lot play that's why these guys. getting paid 50 $60 million a year yeah. and quarterback position is obviously. the one that the entire team is going to. have to be built around you know have to. have to be built around and I think they. thought they did a lot of people calling. for polls too because of all the. that's what I mean like we can make all.

these excuses okay so this is why you. were looking the way you were exactly. because again I grew up around a. shitload of Bears fans know a lot of. Bears fans like it's been the same thing. for 10 years like we we so like it's an. organizational thing so like all these. coaches come in and the same thing. happens but a lot of people are saying. like hey until the masy family sells the. team like it doesn't matter because they. won't actually hire an actual football. person to come in and kind of overhaul. everything like we're in the same. position you drafted trabis number two. overall you go through two coaches hey.

these guys can't like when the when the. coaches can't make him work and you get. another one and then it just turns to. okay well the quarterback sucks get him. get him out of there you draft another. one and then two coaches don't work okay. these guys suck but the quarterback. sucks too let's get rid of him and then. you get Caleb who it's like well this. guy can't suck he's a generational. talent and we have all these weapons and. like to your point about the it's like. hey maybe think of that in the off. season maybe like let's let's get some. some vets on the offensive line so we. don't have to just put everything on. this guy's shoulders so when he's in a.

tough Division and things inevitably get. hard and like they're getting their ass. kicked it's not just like well we can't. do this you know I mean like they should. have they should have restarted before. they drafted Caleb like I understand. Eber flu was doing well they should have. fired him last year and they should have. got an offensive-minded guy and and. redone the whole thing so Dan Quinn Goes. to Washington he brings in Cliff. Kingsbury though for Jaden Daniels. obviously works out very well Dr Mayo. defensive coach with Drake May up there. brings in Alex vanel who has worked in. the offense four ebra Flo getting the.

top these are all the top three picks. obviously ebra Flo brings in Shane. Waldren Legend the guy he was 25th in. pass protection I think last year uh for. the Seattle Seahawks as well which. obviously something to think about what. did you expect here's some stats from. hemo uh about Caleb Williams in the. offensive line potentially not being a. problem okay Caleb Williams took nine. sacks against a Patriots defense against. which no other QB took more than three. okay so that's saying maybe still. offensive line Caleb Williams is the. only quarterback to take 15 sacks in a.

two- game span this season wow that's a. lot of hits there he leads the NFL with. 19 sacks when his o line records a pass. block win when it comes to Stats okay so. he leads the NFL with that 19 of them. whenever the offens line is considered a. win by stats people so you take that. however you want he co-leads with the. NFL Deshawn Watson with 27 sacks on. extended drop backs which is four plus. seconds after the snap M okay so 20. seven of these sacks are four plus.

seconds he got 35 them I think in total. so that's a lot of that's a lot of that. and then obviously Chicago the last two. games against Arizona New England 23. drivs zero touchdowns and all that could. potentially be real those are stats from. hembo right there so 27 sacks on four. plus second place interesting joining. now is a man who I assume just heard. that and his skin started crawling a guy. who only wants to block for 2 and 1/2. seconds ladies and gentlemen Super Bowl. champion 12E NFL vet most of the OG in.

the trenches show oh yeah AQ. Shi what do these stats mean that I just. read what what matters what doesn't. matter obviously stats people deciding. if the offensive line won or lost is. certainly something but that four plus. second sack thing that's the biggest the. most telling one or does their offensive. line suck that literally just made my. head explode okay made my head explode. all right whenever you hear 4 seconds. that's on the quarterback like you can't. sit there and expect anybody to hold up. for 4 seconds obviously you have a. running quarterback you have a guy that.

comes from a college system where maybe. he can get through progressions he can. sit back there for four five 6 7 Seconds. can't happen in the NFL just can't. happen and you can't blame that on the. offensive line ball has to get out get. your read get your progression back foot. hits the ground one hot one hitch. forward Ball's got to be out like right. there like even that like I'd rather you. throw the ball away and not have a sack. like like the the offensive line skins. crawling whenever you see these okay so. Shane Waldron's fault for not teaching. this and letting know that this is how. this is like how much of the blame do.

you think is on OC and I know we're not. in a building so we don't know what the. play calls are we're not in a building. we don't know any of this but OC can. definitely take a lot of the heat for. this or no I mean I think it's more on. the quarterback coach than anybody else. right the OC is the one putting the game. playing together he's putting the scheme. in and then at the end of the day like. the quarterback coach has to sit there. and be like hey listen like if you don't. like it by one two okay let's throw this. thing away and live to fight another. down interesting do you think changing. of offense coordinator in the middle the. season is good for Caleb bad for Caleb I.

think any type of change I mean listen. like I mean a lot of these the offensive. line is on edge like that right there. that's clearly on the offensive line but. if we're sitting back there and we got a. wall protected and he's sitting back. there three four seconds like that ball. has to get out either get it to a guy or. get it throw it away period Shane. Waldron's offense has not been good with. protecting the quarterback over the last. two years as the stats of wey um is. there a chance that it's really hard to. find people that are good at coaching. yeah yeah and and and here's the thing.

because everybody's making fun of the. Bears right now right everybody's making. fun of the Bears for this entire thing. it's like there's a lot of coaches that. get fired and there's a lot of people. that are supposed to be experts and. there's a lot of people that are very. good good coaches other places and then. come in and they thinkk it's like if I. think finding good coaches is not easy I. think it's a very very difficult thing. to do personally the biggest thing that. I keep talking about all the time right. like Shane Walen comes from a place. where he has a system that system may. not necessarily fit a Caleb Williams and.

so that's where it does fall on the. offensive coordinator right like you. have to adjust and adapt to your. personnel period and that's what makes. good coaches you can't sit here and run. a Marcus Mariota offense with a statue. quarterback like it just not it's not. going to work right and so if you have a. guy you have to use his skill set and. you have to find what works and if we're. sitting there just doing the same thing. over and over and over again and it's. not working we have to find a way to. adapt and become a better football team.

and that falls on the offensive. coordinator and that's why I think. there's a change the biggest thing we. talk about though all the time is. midseason 10 weeks into the season. terminology is already put in plays are. already put in these guys understand. you're not going to sit there if. something's to Jet as the protection. like we're not coming in and changing. the protections we're still running to. Jet so now that falls on the players. right you can only blame so many people. before it becomes a problem and then we. can and then then it falls on the head. coach eight coach have been fired or. resigned from eoa staff in the last 14.

months uh the Bears have scored this guy. was the NFL uh Super Bowl champion coach. that's right right play coach he was. Jackie Moon this guy coached bucks and. played for the bucks won a Super Bowl. unreal bald Jackie Moon two. rings short arms yep Jackie Moon mhm the. Bears have scored an NFL low 10 points. in the first quarter across 22 drives. who's that on how's that work that's. that's execution that's on the. coordinator period because you scripped. your first 15 plays that is something.

you work on all week that is your best. 15 plays of the game plan to go out and. execute and score I also I mean the. Eagles have the same statistic like they. weren't scoring on the first drive. forever that comes down to preparation. that comes down to game plan that is all. easy easy easy easy easy s's got the. boys Eagles are playing great yeah they. are they're seven and two everybody. forgets and they got a good they got a. good old line this may make AQ skin. crawl a little bit but I don't think. there there there aren't very many good.

offensive lines in the league right now. period you know what I mean so like. obviously the Bears are one of a bunches. but Eagles you know they're on aqs list. Detroit's like outside of that I mean. Cardinals I think they're playing pretty. good so like that's what five six maybe. AQ what you what you think about the o. line play I guess across the. league yeah it's down there's no. question about that and I think that. again we we go back to the college game. right I don't think they're preparing. these guys for this level and so. DB we had this conversation last week I.

mean like I I come up with a top five. every week I mean honest to God some. weeks you got your three your Main Stays. right it's going to be Ravens lions and. Eagles right like that's your main stage. commanders are probably in there as. number four right and then Cardinals are. probably your top five but if any one of. those have a down week I'm struggling to. find four and five for the. week all right yikes so maybe it isn't. just the other line's bad we got to be. bad because it feels like everybody's. dealing with that issue except for the. teams that are going to be around in the. end that's literally yeah have we.

figured out who already is going to be. left strictly because of how they. protect and how they can do it possibly. how come more teams don't pay attention. to it how come that's not a focal point. of building a team we talked to Coach. Hardball you talked to bellich yesterday. he was like well I don't think belich. said I don't think Chicago wanted to be. a tough physical team their first. investment was a wide receiver and a. running back and then they do this hard. ball goes in there offens line give you. two tackles the first pick is going to. be this this is exactly how we're doing. it it almost sets the tone for the. entire team like hey this is what we. care about right here yeah to get under.

the cap who they get rid of Keenan Allen. Caleb is and let's kind of make the most. out of Caleb Williams the NFL cup I. think I think he can still do all those. things we've seen flashes of him doing.

it now you can't do it every game you. can't do it every quarter we see it with. like like Lamar Jackson is a very. obviously different quarterback than. Caleb but even with Lamar like you have. to at some point in the NFL you got to. play on time you got to be able to play. and win from the pocket and that's where. we've seen Lamar make his biggest uh. steps in game like you got Kyler Murray. he's playing his best ball this year. he's playing much more on time reading. things from the pocket making throws and. then when Kyler has to be special Kyler. could be. Allen same thing so like at some point.

you let those special traits take over. that's why these guys are these guys and. can Elevate different play like J. Herbert's another guy who went through. three different coordinators in his. three first years but he was special he. was off the charts but now we're seeing. they're going to be ranked very high we. assume this evening they were eighth. last week I think AP had them at five on. Sunday tonight we'll learn the college. football playoff committee I can't wait. to see what our hooers look like but. what should we be expecting tonight is. there any big drama coming this evening. after Alabama gets that massive win or. any other happenings from this past. weekend Heather well I think the big. question is how far Miami Falls after. losing to Georgia Tech the AP pole sunk.

them pretty far I have Miami though at. 11 which keeps them as the fourth. highest ranked conference champion and. still that first round by but now I've. got Texas at number three I think that's. the big change up top because obviously. of the Georgia loss but Pat now you've. got this bunch of SEC teams with two. losses for the committee to sort out and. I think tonight Alabama will still be. their top two loss team Okay so. obviously each week the storylines are.

are they judging how the team plays and. they said football judgment is a big. part Ward Manuel said that last week to. ree Davis strength of schedule obviously. the Indiana 103rd strength of schedule. was being broadcasted out there how you. lose who you lose to that's all a. massive piece of it is the conference. dominance of SEC Big 10 uh obviously it. was apparently real last week is that. only going to grow stronger you think as. the weeks grow on I think it is even as. you continue to see these teams with two. losses and as much as people keep.

throwing out the word elimination games. every week I would really hesitate to. eliminate a three loss SEC team and that. includes if Georgia loses to Tennessee. yes I just said that and here's why. because in the first 10 years of the. college football playoff there have been. 13 13 three lost teams ranked in the. selection Comm comm's top 10 on. selection day so this has happened.

before and if history repeats itself. then you could potentially see a three. loss SEC team in but they're not all. created equal let me make that clear all. three loss SEC teams are not created. equal if Old Miss loses a third game. they're done LSU they're going to be way. down at the bottom of the barrel right. now Georgia though has one of the. toughest schedules in the country that's. why I treat them a little differently. and I think the committee could too yeah. I I I think that's very apparent.

obviously their losses are all top five. matchups whenever we get in there not. like uh you know Alabama losing a Vandy. everybody thought it was over they're. the only team with four wins over top 25. teams the strength of schedule is. certainly an interesting one let's. continue on that note AP tone has a. question for you yeah they're talking. about three lost SEC teams the way that. I'm looking at it now it looks like. there's going to be four big 10 teams. four SEC teams ACC Big 12 Notre Dame and. then the group of five highest ranked. team is is the fifth team from the SEC. potentially coming if Notre Dame loses.

is that the only way you think that. maybe five SEC teams get there and. especially a three loss. one yes because I think if Notre Dame. loses that opens the door but think. about this. too what if you have. BYU as the runner up in the Big. 12 if you have Colorado as a two loss. Big 12 champion and BYU's only loss is a. close game to Colorado then do you have.

two big 12 teams in to me that's going. to be a good debate for the selection. committee a three loss SEC team or a one. loss BYU Big 12 runner up okay so I. cannot wait for the drama there and I. think I heard coach Sabin say that um. you know when there was only the four. playoff there was only like three teams. that potentially were pissed super. pissed Florida State last year obviously. took the cake of being the most mad for.

good reason we understand why they would. be mad Georgia also could have been yeah. very very mad last year they're the. back-to-back national champs can't even. get in there to defend so and they have. one loss in 29 games or something and. they can't even get in but you know. Florida State's more mad than we are we. get it we'll be quiet now it spans. conferences over the the final couple. spots is all over the place so you got. like 20 maybe teams that are mad as. opposed to just two or three teams that.

are mad there's a chance that there's. even more drama at the end even though. we've expanded the entirety of it and uh. I think it's good for ball I think it's. good for college ball keeping the amount. of hope so fun but with the Hope comes. the disappointment which then becomes. very very loud how many million people. would watch if we just have cameras in. in the in the room where they actually. put like cameras commercial spots I mean. I mean 15 million PR part watch how many. people are in the college football.

committee and it's a rotating cast right. every three years St that's right there. are 13 people in there it's a mix of. former coaches sitting athletic. directors there's one former sports. writer Kelly Whiteside is in there so. it's it's a variety of of people but. everybody always assumes that they're. going to act how the previous group. acted but it's a different group right. it's uh they run tenure I think three. years and is it a rotating cast or is it. three years same group and then they. move on. no it's three year 10 years so for.

example this year there are six new. committee members and you make a great. point because in the past there have. been committee members who have valued. head-to-head more than something else. right or strength of schedule and that's. what people need to understand is what. how you feel as a Committee Member could. be completely different from the person. sitting next to you I mean I remember in. 2021 when they ranked Michigan State um. ahead of. Michigan because in spite of the.

head-to-head and everybody was going. bananas well you can see tonight Old. Miss could be behind Georgia a week. after not even a week after after. beating them yeah because Georgia beat. Texas and Clemson and they have a better. schedule so how much does head-to-head. matter well it depends on who you ask in. that room yeah and that room changes so. you really and in the first 12 team. playoff this is Now setting precedent. for what the future looks like go ahead. com man yeah Heather with the SEC not so. much the Big 10 because of the way it's.

shaping up it feels like there's a. chance one of the teams that makes the. SEC Championship ends up being a three. loss team if they were to lose to a. Texas or one of the other teams at the. top are we looking at the SEC. Championship and the Big 10 Championship. as if you make it to that game you're. automatically going to get a bid or do. you think that's kind of where the three. lost team conversation. starts well to be clear just to remind. everyone watching the five highest. ranked Conference champions are in so. the Big 10 and SEC Champion is in the. question is how the committee evaluates.

the runner up right and if it's a three. loss team they're going to be compared. against all of the other teams in that. pack so is it a close game you guys. remember Ohio state Wisconsin in like. 2014 what was it like 59 to zero that's. a far different championship game than. let's say Ohio State and Oregon playing. each other again and it's another close. game you you better believe the runnerup. in this is going to be in right so how. do those games unfold helps answer that.

question but remember this whoever loses. that game then if they do get an at. llarge bit they have to recover. emotionally from losing that game and. win four straight games to win the. national title I don't care who you are. good luck yeah anybody that makes it now. granted the first- round buy could be. good could be bad though because it. could be a month before they're playing. football again in the the first round by. uh for some of the Champions with how it. could set up for 3 weeks or something. like that that's a long time not saying.

is it rest or is it rust if you're a top. team obviously you would hope it's rest. not rust that home that home field. playoff game is something I think we're. all jacked up about which leads to tie. asking you a question yeah Heather we. were kind of talking about this earlier. this week and a little bit last week and. obviously we'll see what the rankings uh. say tonight but in the case of like. Indiana or some of these other schools. is there a chance that if they were to. get a home game that that would be moved. to potentially like a neutral site so. they can a get more people in there and.

not have to worry about you know like. the catastrophe of a hotel situation or. is it pretty much locked in that every. home team game will be on campus at. those. schools well the schools have the right. to move it if they want to but as long. as it is feasible and as long as they. can prepare for it then I would assume. that. 99.9999% of the time they would have. that game on campus and move hell or.

high water to make it happen because. that is the ultimate HomeField Advantage. when it matters most so I would be. surprised unless there was something. like for example Stadium construction or. in just a simple inability to host it. logistically I would be shocked if. anyone passed that opportunity yeah the. reason we the reason we even brought it. up is because it was announced like last. week it might have been you H I don't. remember who What Might Have Been you. that said every school that is in.

position with this ranking to have a. HomeField playoff game has said that. they will host it at their stadium and. not at a neutral site and we're like we. didn't even know that was a we didn't. even know that was even a thought or a. theory what a Showcase of your campus. yeah what a Showcase of your school. Showcase of everything and a Showcase of. college football to the world that maybe. hasn't experienced it yet I think it'll. be big now there's one name that's huge. that doesn't have a chance to be one of. the four Champs obviously by their own. decision dbut has a question for you. yeah what's the path for Notre Dame you.

know to get to to the playoff obviously. what you know all the things Pat said. not having the conference Championship. in their schedule and the matchups they. have so Notre Dame's only passed to the. playoff as an independent and this goes. for Washington State too guys and. anybody else who's an independent is. through one of those seven at large bits. so they have to run the table I would. expect them to be in and just sitting. there watching like they do every other. year while the other conferences play.

their conference Championship game and. you know when this was put together. Notre Dame athletic director Jack swri. knew that they wouldn't be able to get. one of those first round buys former. athletic director Jack Schick I should. say um and that was okay because they. knew that they would be able to get a. first round home game and they would get. that rest while everyone else was. playing their conference Championship. games so there was a a little bit of a. give a give and take there in terms of. the Irish all right so 8 25ish tonight I.

obviously something we all had our eyes. on and we're all praying every single. time he dropped back for nothing bad to. happen D said I don't care about aan I'm. playing ball just like I said when I was. coming back I love the game I love the. game till death boom throws a pick puts. his leg or his head down into a guy's. knee pretty much now he gets shined to. the ear hole bounces back up I think Tua. probably learned a lot about himself in. that moment I think we all learned a lot. about Tua in that moment and uh we'd. like to say Tua you throw a pick get the.

instead of getting into the end zone. Matt Stafford had his weapons back with. puka Cooper they were productive um you. know the other Robinson didn't have many. catches many plays but Stafford was. definitely fooled a few times bringing. pressure so uh yeah I love what my. dolphin did man big big win and now we. stay in the thick of it in the AFC and. that guy who's 6' n oh God in his 17th. year oh my God at the age of 38 out of. the U yeah Kus Campbell causing full. chaos they're calling him. Kos Campell this dude had a couple sacks.

had a pass break up Force an. interception I mean this dude was on. fire I uh I've had a chance to obviously. meet Kos Campbell uh in person. before he's a sweet boy yeah really. we're talking about great dude watch ba. Man of the Year in the past uh probably. would win it every single year if they. didn't want to just keep giving it to. the same person has a good time. relatable so tall huge so so tall huge.

I've only seen him at a few events and. uh he's one of those guys at the events. and I assume there's a lot of NBA guys. who feel this way but I don't know if. all NBA guys are. 293 I'm sorry 330 or whatever the hell. he is because how tall he is his bones. got to weigh at least 300 lbs you'd. assume but he's big he's absolutely big. so you're at an event and you just like. you see him like everybody sees him hard. and the way he handles all he's like. everybody you know I assume way like. Shaq moves whenever he's in public Kus. moves the exact same way never met.

anybody that has met Kus who hasn't. loved him like that dude that type of. Dude too so to see him having the. success that he's having and every team. you know he just he he's kind of just. moved on from and every time it's always. like well he was doing well why would. you he's doing well why would you he's. doing well why would you that's kind of. the end of this career he's had but. you're talking 17 years in his start I. mean that's he's been so good all year. they started him like kind of like a. snap count the start of the year year. every game he's playing more and more. and he just keeps getting better and. better it's incredible 38 years old uh.

phenomenal work by debone here but it. tells a bigger story we took this much. time on a team that's three and six. because the conversation is they might. be able to get into the playoff hunt. wild card seventh seed maybe in the AFC. they can go and get it is that even is. that a reality for this Miami Dolphins. team after you watched last night AJ. Hawk I mean you can definitely see how. it's a possibility I mean if their. defense continues to play like they. their defense what forces five field. goals from the Rams we know how Expos of. the Rams offense can be with Matt. Stafford and the weapons he has on the. outside so yeah if their defense plays.

like this I mean you got to go on a a. run that you know we don't see teams go. on too often but why not why not give. them a chance go ahead uh so I I went. back and I looked since the NFL went to. the 14 team playoff uh in 2020 for some. reason in 2020 you had to have 11 wins. to get in the playoffs on the AFC side. wow we know why 2020 crazy you need a. lot of things1 in 21 in 21 it was nine. wins got you in in 2022 nine wins got. you in and then last year 10 wins got.

you in so you got to get at least nine. for sure possibly 10 to get in the. playoffs okay so that's where the seven. seed has remained this year at the. beginning of the year there was a lot of. seemingly I want to say turmoil but. there was a lot going around passing the. buck happening so what will the win loss. record have to be for the seven seed. will it be different this year than. Year's past potentially but a road to 10. the Bengals are trying to get there. obviously they were trying to get there. uh the dolphin now in the conversation. the Indianapolis Colts are on the road. to 10 kind of we got a little we got a.

game that's what I heard got a game up. to 10 losses yeah everybody's talking. about the Dolphins going three and six. what's the Colts record what's the Colts. records can somebody riddle me that four. and six oh got more wins than the. Dolphins the Broncos are currently the. seven at five and. five I mean right this is all setting up. for one of the greatest comeback stories. of all time mhm this team they're saying. I even know how to be a professional. operation I even know how to be a. professional outfit things have happened. to this team that have never happened.

before in the history of professional. football maybe even high school football. and college football added into that at. the quarterback position but still the. reason why the NFL is the NFL and the. reason why football is the greatest. we're still in it somehow yeah isn't. that bananas it's got to get hot if. we're able to win a couple games all. these conversations subside too like I'm. sure they fix their culture overnight on. one Tuesday oh yeah yeah look at them. they've been some games cuz we have won. games in the past that we weren't. supposed to win and we've been in every. single game that we've lost to very good.

teams and if all this is happening. behind closed doors okay Bills beat the. out of us Vikings beat the out. everybody else everybody else the other. four behind we saw that we watch that. but if we start winning some games. everything that has been happening. behind closed doors doesn't matter. anymore and we just go and win the Super. bowl without ever getting fixed and. we're the first team ever that doesn't. work hard that isn't all the way bought. in that somehow wins the Super Bowl that. is what's possible at this moment and. that's the conversation coming out of.

last night this Dolphins team is three. and six three and six and now hold the. phone hold. on really three and six wait a minute if. I mean we're actually five and six if. you look at who we're playing coming up. haven't played the games have not had to. do not had to do it at all we're. actually five and six if you think about. it and I'm doing the same thing with. Colts there's a lot of teams that are. doing that right now we got to get the. nine we'll just act like tone those are. two different times we got to get the.

nine rce the nine let's do it we got a. lot of games left can get that done we. just wrapped up week 10 there's 18 weeks. in this season because there's 17 games. got nothing but time anybody can get. there what why not let's go and do it. why not go beat the lions in a couple. weeks why not ladies and gentlemen this. weekend we're playing against the Jets. uhoh and their fans are hoping to think. the same thing exactly all we got to do. is get get to nine wins maybe and we. could sneak in as a wild card 10 wins. maybe we could sneak in as a wild card.

this weekend's a big one for that hope. to remain real the quarterback of the. New York Jets four-time MVP Super Bowl. champion ladies and gentlemen Aaron. different like hey. today give these boys a chance you know. let the uh let these gos we've been. through a lot over here obviously this. jet season has been a lot over there as. well and that game aside obviously uh. would like to hear your thoughts on. everything right now because I think. with the way the season has gone up down. we've had some moments up we're back. we're here we've arrived then you play. this week weekend that game goes how it. goes and now we're back down it's been a. lot of this but just like we were just.

saying about the Miami Dolphins fans. just like the Colts fans are saying just. like a lot of places are saying in your. building what is the mindset what is the. thought on how to finish this season for. the New York. Jets well it hasn't changed for me I. think you got to approach it the same. every single week you know when there's. a lot of conversation like oh what are. you gonna do now like well you do what. you know how to do you go back to work. you know preparation stays the same. you know maybe it kicks up a little bit. if if you need to for guys that you know. feel like they can give a little more.

but uh I've been doing this a long time. and and the preparation stays the same. uh Focus stays the same you know I think. you got to handle it with uh humility. you know been a lot of a lot of uh lot. of pies to be eaten around here this. year uh flavored uh humble yeah um big. ones big New York PI York those big New. York pies good and it's not a buck of. slice are ref yeah but you got to you. got to hold on to that beautiful thing. in life called hope and that's just that.

there's there's a chance you know we're. not mathematically eliminated there's a. lot to play for at the end of the day. you know one thing that we can play for. whether we're uh 10-0 or 3 and seven is. pride you know pride in your performance. pride in the product you're putting on. the field um not want to let your. coaches down teammates down the guys in. the locker room the men and women that. you you see every day at work there got. to be pride in that it's got to be Pride. that uh that Spurs you on on Monday.

night when you're tired and you just had. a long flight and you sit down you you. know you watch your film and you wake up. Tuesday morning you get after in your. preparation you go on facila you take. care of your body you do your workout or. whatever it might be and then you know. you get after it Tuesday afternoon. Tuesday evening make sure you're ready. to go Wednesday with questions with. ideas and and hitting your coach up. making sure that you know you get an. early look at the plans you can come in. with some questions and and do all the. little things you know I think a lot of. lot of times when when when shit's not. going your way um you know they want to. make it about a there's a big thing you.

know it's coaches fault or player's. fault or my fault or Todd's fault or. salah's fault obviously or hackett's. fault whoever you want to lay blame on. but a lot of times it comes down to just. doing little things you know it's little. things that actually add up to the big. things um and then you know on the. outside world you just see like a very. easy fix you know get rid of this person. get rid of that person do this do that. but in the end it's a lot of times just. little habits uh little Habits by. players and preparation and coaches and.

and the building sometimes that uh make. a difference between three and seven and. seven and three for us because there are. multiple games that we could have won. just on the field but off the field. sometimes where the wins and losses. happen that we forget about the Monday. to Saturday game that that uh you know. we aren't winning consistently enough I. don't think week to week uh Sunday. product is what it is we've been. inconsistent we've had good games good. halves bad games. uh inconsistent games most of it has. been not playing uh compliment football.

on all three sides um which you know. obviously happened uh in Arizona you. know we had a chance on our first two. drives to to stay tight regardless what. happened on our defense um you know they. went down and scored we had a chance to. get seven there we had you know didn't. execute and S for a field goal they went. out and scored again now it's 14-3 we. went down the field again put together a. nice drive and didn't get seven again. now it's 14-6 and they go down scores. 216 and then you know we we uh went. three and out and then it's 246 at half. then we have another chance to get back.

in the game we drive down the field and. get inside of 10 can't can't score uh. sack fumble on fourth down unfortunately. with the guy open to make it 23 24 13 or. 14 if we go for two and then the game's. different so it's on us you know to fix. it obviously but but you're not going to. fix it by doing the same thing just. little tweaks in the uh uh in the Monday. the Saturday I think can uh can turn. this thing and you turn in this thing. you beat a cols team that's had some up. and down uh you know games themselves.

you know some games they played really. well and won some games where they. probably felt like they should have won. um and uh you know they're four and six. they're not out of it they're still in. they got a lot of veteran players over. there uh a lot of Pride um but a chance. for us to uh get a win get into the bye. and then look at the back half the last. six of our our schedule with you know I. said after the game we got a couple West. Coast teams coming out for one o00 games. we have three division games and we at. Jacksonville so um crazy it is there's.

still a lot of things right in front of. us but uh starts with finding a way to. get uh get a win against Indie this. weekend you know what they say and uh I. appreciate your Insight on all of that. on you've played obviously 18 years in. the NFL now uh going to be a first. ballot Hall of Famer you know they say. the little things take care of the big. if you take care of the little things. the big things take care of themselves. you know that's kind of like the mindset. process driven people or normally the. people that end up lasting longest the. same conversation that you just ch about. there is happening here in Indianapolis.

which kind of leads to a different. question do you think over your time it. has been a uh I don't want to say a. decline because that would be negative. but it's obviously a different time in. like being a professional athlete in. like handling like the main keeping the. main thing the main thing and obviously. you come on the show every single. Tuesday so people will say is he keeping. the main thing the main thing it's like. uh players have had Tuesday interviews. uh in the NFL since the beginning of. time but I'm just saying over there's. also a lot of people trying to copy what.

we we're doing. no shows no no no no no no that ain't. hey by the way shout out to us shout out. to us five years yeah crazy through a. lot of wild times but do you see a. difference in like great times a lot of. great times wild times yeah great times. there's been great times God there's. been great times couple wild times. couple wild times real wild times wild. times yeah I was getting attacked in. different languages I didn't know I. didn't know was POS I was being called a. big fat slob in a tank top in uh in a. different language that was a wild that.

was a wild anyways have you seen a. difference though in like the. generations because you've been through. a couple different now with the length. of your career on like being a. professional in understanding the buyin. on what it is to be an NFL player have. you noticed any difference and I'm not. saying you need to call it any names but. we're in a much different time now than. we were when guys literally had nothing. else to do but ball you know like that. is it now it's a vastly different space. seemingly I think that's part of the the. progression of the league is that the.

popularity has soared um there's been a. lot of changes with schedule we were. talking to today you know back when I. was a young player first second second. third fourth season especially the rules. are different in the offseason we're. there it be middle of March and that. gave you a lot of chances to work on. little things and learn how to speak the. language of football learn how to be an. expert of your offense learn how to. speak the language defenses and learn. fronts and pressures and coverages and. tendencies and alignments on defense so.

you can have a conversation in room and. talk about you know 42 LX front and then. the middle fire pressure and the. different stuff behind it and bringing. flame pressure and playing two slide. blit on behind and all these different. little terms you you can learn to speak. the language and also really hone the. fun fundamentals so you had I mean think. about you had six weeks before the draft. mostly just young players working on the. craft now you know none of the young. players uh you know nobody comes in till. uh I believe middle of April the. earliest so you're already a month.

behind um the college game obviously. influences all of it you know and I. think there's a lot of really good stuff. in it you know when I was playing in. high school it was uh 21 Personnel a lot. of ieb back stuff uh even at College at. Cal I didn't take one snap in the gun. now a lot of these kids have taken every. snap on the gun they clap for Cadence. they don't call a huddle um so there's. some kind of basic uh things that have. to be learned on the Fly by a number of. people because linan are looking over at. the sideline they're getting their.

signal or they're on the wristband. there's not a lot of communication uh. and in turn what's that made because you. don't have the same type of time in the. offseason and you have a different game. in college is you've uh you've changed. the way offenses uh play and some of. it's really good and some of it can. showcase amazing skills of guys like a. Jaden Daniels who's had a fantastic. season um and obviously what Lamar did. in college some of the same stuff he's. doing now and he's made himself into a. fantastic passer from the pocket but um. the the game has shifted I think there's. a lot of good things in that um but.

there's also the social media influence. which has made uh you know all of the. content very valuable because you now. you can monetize all the content so back. in the day I say this a lot I'm the old. guy saying how we used to play you know. cards and dominoes and locker. room now it's uh you know guys talking. about meeting up afterwards playing. video games and linking up uh uh or you. know you work working on uh your social. media Post in the locker room so it's. changed the dynamic for sure uh you know.

some good for sure some good and some. just different uh not bad or good uh. it's just different it's different uh. different day and age uh there's a lot. of uh a lot more things to take your. mind off of football um and there's an. insulation I think being in Green Bay. because you don't have a big city life. or you know these you know restaurants. you got to go get to or different things. or you talk about the media I always. thought the media in Green Bay was great. but but not easy um but uh there's a lot. a lot of distractions and in the end uh. it comes down to you know can you figure.

out a way to prepare that gets you ready. to play can you go out and execute what. you prepared um because every offense. regardless as who's calling it can be. great or terrible it just comes down. execution and the coaches get blamed but. in the end it's the players who are out. there trying to execute it and when. there are mistakes the majority of the. time it comes down to preparation and. you got to look at what you were doing. uh during your during your downtime uh. how much communication were you having. on the side and and and and practice.

habits too great teams practice a. certain way and we've actually. unfortunately had some really good weeks. of practice because the the product. hasn't always been great but I feel like. the last three weeks have been the three. best weeks of practice we've had so. nobody I don't feel like on offense felt. like we're were going to go out and. score six points now credit to their. defense they got some really good. players and uh you know do some good. things but uh I often feel like it's. it's us against us out there you know. we're kind of playing against ourselves. and if we don't screw it up you know we.

can be a dynamic offense but uh. unfortunately too many times we've been. the one screwing it up yeah that's. everywhere brother I don't think that's. just one place I appreciate your insight. into all that too because I haven't been. in the locker room obviously as many. things have changed over the last eight. years seven years I could see how it'd. be difficult you know to keep the main. thing the main thing but I think what a. lot of people don't understand I'm not. talking about your situation I'm not. talking about just the Colts in. situation I'm talking about every. situation in the NFL uh with guys who. haven't been cut before or fired it's. like you're here just you are a piece of.

gum okay and whenever your flavor runs. out whether it's a an end of an ability. or an end of a likingness or an end of. professional whatever it is whenever. your flavor is no longer the one. literally it is spit out there this. isn't and there's no rules on where that. thing could be spit out or when it it. could be your birthday yeah it could be. it could be they will spit your ass out. and move on to the next piece of gum and. you're it's over then you're sitting on. a bar St wondering what the hell. happened it's like well you had your. opportunity you didn't take advantage of.

it like people don't think that's. possible because throughout their entire. life they've never been everybody's one. of them on our team we want you on our. team want please God be on our team. please you if you're on our team our. team's better then get the NFL it's like. uh everybody in this league has been. that person at a different stage of. their life so I feel like there's a lot. of opportunities potentially being blown. by people you know and I don't like that. and it's I'm not talking about your. situation but I think I am talking about. like learning about this Indianapolis. situation more and more and more and. more and more and I'm like what are you. do you have a chance to be not.

just AR this is like everybody you have. a chance to be awesome you have a chance. to be great and you're just kind of was. why you're just wasting there's no. reason to do that well I think I can. speak on that a little bit I think um. there there's a game within the game. that I think people would just miss and. if you're uh you're an average player. the game playing the game within the. game will allow you to to have uh you. know a decent little career if you're. you're a good player uh you can have a. long career if you're a great player you. can have a Hall of Fame trans. Transcendent career the game within the.

game to me I was thinking about this few. weeks ago it comes down to four things. and the comedy is that not the comedy. But the irony I guess is that three of. these are are basically team rules I. don't know if it's all in the Shanahan. system but it was uh it was the three. team rules who had in Green Bay same in. the Jets with slightly different wording. um and then I've added a fourth one uh. that's just kind of the key to sticking. around the league playing the game. within the game now on top of the game. within the game is Talent ability. production but the game within the game. is rule number one is put the team first.

so that involves some humility not. making it by yourself uh rule number two. is no excuses uh or no complaining rule. number three is be on time be prepared. and the fourth rule that I've thrown in. there is be a good teammate and listen. we all you know at at times you know. there's been times where we've either. pressed those rules or not adhere to. those rules completely and some of us. who've been around forever probably have. more opportunity to uh to make a mistake. and to stick around but if you just do. those four things and I know it seems.

simple but it's not because I've seen. guys get themselves cut uh by not. following those rules but you just do. those four things just Ted Thompson like. Ted Thompson used to always say wrap. yourself around the team you know just. don't be the guy always complaining and. making excuses and then uh be on time be. prepared that little one you know I'm. like super old school and weird I guess. I have a yellow you know legal p that I. like take notes on and flip pages over. that's just how I need to do it people. have asked me why do you do it that way.

and I said well I have this this this. three time rule I want to I want to hear. it first then I want to say it second. and then I want to write it third so I. hear the play or the install that we're. doing then I say the play like to myself. and then I write it down now I've given. myself three times to remember the. formation the play the potential can or. adjustment and and my responsibility and. then as I'm writing I'm writing and. often it involves other people's. responsibilities but this is how I. prepare now that we have you know there.

guys everybody has iPads back in the day. we had little computers you know we had. computers I have my computer out I have. my notepad out now you know it's it's. your iPad or or whatever they got and. then and then you know I still take. notes I don't know that maybe the you. know that is better than what it used to. be where everybody nobody had a you know. computer you had to watch film at work. and you had to you know take notes off. of you know PowerPoint was up there that. eventually got to some sort of you know. Adobe PowerPoint but um you're so yeah. if you just do if you just do those four.

things though you give yourself a chance. at least you give yourself a chance and. I like to you know there's been a lot of. guys over the years who've done that who. may not have been the most talented guys. and one of these guys I actually saw him. recently he's still I think he's. coaching the league now is Anthony. LaVine you remember you remember Tony. LaVine AJ oh yeah oh yeah he was back up. backup safety for us and I remember he. was in the PE Squad early and he and he. always brought energy every single day. and we call him the master of disaster. because sometimes he would screw up the. cards you know a little bit but he.

always played balls to the wall and and. would make plays in practice but he was. also an energy guy but what he did do. was he was always on time and prepared. he knew all the special team stuff uh he. you know didn't make it about himself he. put his checked his ego at the door and. you know Tony LaVine did he end up. getting picked up by Baltimore played a. long time in League double digit years. in League became a team captain a core. special teamer and a guy you can count. on to come in and play safety for you. and and with all due respect Tony like.

you weren't the most talented guy in the. leite jeez Master disaster but he got. but he got he got by great dude not just. got by great dude yeah he not only got. by but he excelled because he understood. the little things and never gave them a. reason to get rid of them and in my. opinion you can't have enough Tony. LaVine on your roster and he's one of. those examples guy who just like got it. he's like I got it he's he has a senior. a junior afterwards right Tony LaVine.

yeah yeah okay I do know him from. Special Teams yeah weapon absolute. absolute weapon I do remember him 41 no. I think 41 41 yeah 41 great great career. with the Ravens yeah I remember Tony. LaVine yeah yeah yeah I do as well and. uh he's now zto is telling me he's. assistant special teams coordinator down. to Titans with Colt down there it's it's. like uh who's another guy the other guy. another guy just like same same Mo all. those things Anthony was or is same with.

Co out of monana you know there's no way. he's supposed to be in the NFL for eight. to 10 years but just like every day what. do you need how do you need it yeah. Byron Byron store is another guy Byron. store would played with me at Cal he was. a teamer he got in good with guden he. was you know never going to be a. full-time fullback in 21 but was a a. core special teamer and then he went on. uh to coach for a long time he's still. coach I believe with Rich and Green Bay. you know just guys who get it stick. around and and you need those glue guys.

um to kind of get the game within the. game and the guys that don't get it you. know even if you're a great player it's. not g to it's not going to work out for. you if you're if you're not a great. player you're going to be out of League. pretty quick yeah very quick cup of. coffee they say about you but if you're. a great player and you also have that. entire four core there yeah man now that. that's what we're all trying to you know. that's what you're all trying I would. hope Campbell boom causing Kos how about. him last night he went bananas Kos came. did yeah did he what he what' he do uh. caused an interception had a couple.

sacks three tackles I mean just. full chaos Kos Campbell 30 38 I think. isn't he 38 yeah 38 years old oh love. there we go yeah yeah he went bananas. last night and his energy always high I. assume he has never been late to. anything and then he also was the one. who pulled the car over when Tyreek hey. what the what's going be a good teammate. I mean you're talking like everything. all in one situation. 68 in that voice too great voice and the. way he moves like I I've never really. seen sha in like a public setting I.

assume it's all very positive the way. Kus operates in those scenes it's all. everybody how you do make everybody feel. happy and then he moves along wal pton. man I mean a Hall of Famer that's hey. Troy said it last night one of her uh in. Troy I think has a lot to say you know. in this entire thing Troy feels like he. was like he'll be a first ballot Hall of. Famer whenever he decides to retire in. this entire thing is what Troy said do. you feel that way as well I do I really. do I think you know he was a dominant.

player for many many years uh in his. career and he still obviously can get it. done but yes I definitely think so that. long at that position crazy you know. with every human liking you too like. that's not normal like every human likes. them I think that goes into it for uh. being immortalized for the game forever. you know which is what the Hall of Fame. is I think in the end now I'm not in it. or have a vote but I would say put his. ass in C get him in there go ahead AJ oh. you might be in there you might be in. there for media at some point to keep.

this thing going contribution to sport I. know I've already thought about that. that'd be crazy that'd be crazy if that. whole thing happened yeah been nominated. three times already no big deal no big. deal and I do appreciate the fact that. they feel obligated to nominate me. because of the chance of Fame doesn't. mean anything yeah and also the the. chance of the contribution of sport so. they're I think they're trying to. like BR yeah I think I think so I. appreciate that hey it's an honor to be. on that list every single year it's an. honor to be on hey congrats congrats.

thank you put Shane lecker in there okay. vinary needs to be first ballot too I. don't even know he better be I don't. even know what we're talking about here. but I guess there's some drawback on a. kicker being a first B ker is gonna be a. first batt Hall ofare I guess there is. some people over there that feel that. way vinary needs to be the first one. over there put him in put him in he said. it that means a lot more that means a. lot more go ahead AJ Aaron is it uh is. it easier to do little things are be. motivated when things aren't going great. like I know at least from personal. experience like when you're pissed at. somebody or things aren't going great.

it's a little easier to wake up and go. do the little things that you might not. want to do I'm just wondering is that. one of the positive you can have from. things not going great right now but. everything kind of out there in front of. you if you do go on a run it's. interesting I would say it's the. opposite honestly for most people I. think self-motivated people I think. you're exactly right I think I think. when things aren't going well it's. easier to wake up and go kind of like. bite down on a bit and all right let's. get this done you know that's. that's my that's my mentality I don't. know that that's the that's the shared.

sentiment though uh for for everybody I. almost think that the attitude is and. this is a football adage but winning. kind of glosses over everything I think. a lot of times sometimes you know. winning and dealing with success is the. is the most difficult adversity because. you start kind of rest on your laurels. oh I didn't study a whole lot last week. so I'm you know I don't need to we won. you know we're not going to not going to. lose you know and I think every great. team or run kind of goes through that. where you know we won 19 in a row at one. point in Green Bay and you know there.

there was probably some things that. started slipping a little bit that we. weren't quite aware of and and. unfortunately you know we lost in. division round that year um after going. 15 and one so obviously there are some. things that were going there I think you. know for for great competitors yeah when. you when you're down that's when you. your backs against the wall and and you. got to examine everything but I don't. know if that's the sentiment. with with every player the league when. when things aren't going great you would. think that would perspective you know. that's why like in these college uh.

season whenever you're thinking about a. team it's like they got embarrassed the. week before their coach is going to. they're going to go back they're going. to kind of dive in more I think that's. why AJ you probably feel that way too. because every time you've ever done. terrible it's like that next week the. anxiety is so high about it happening. again that's that's how I was pretty. much uh yeah that's how I am too that's. how I am yeah I just so badly want to. just let's get to Sunday let's. get to Sunday man let's go yeah do it. again yeah yeah and I was thinking if I. do that again I'm going to have no job. and uh I'm gonna yeah it's healthy.

that's a healthy I think that that's a. motivation thing like the healthy hey. I'm not going to be here anymore yeah. not enough Adam vinary we're just. talking about him he was in his 20. something year 22nd year or whatever. whatever the f whatever it was okay it. was old it had been able to vote it had. been able to buy tobacco and scratch. offs his career and there was something. that needed to be said to somebody like. a coach. and viter was certainly the guy that. should go say something to coach or. whatever right special teams coach I'm.

not doing that he says I'm like why why. are you not doing that he goes I'm so. old so expensive they'll fire me I'll. get fired I'm like Vinnie you're not. getting you're not going to get fired. he's like yeah they will get my you. don't think they want my ass out of here. for a younger cheaper model you're do. you even know the league like he. started like talking to me and I'm. like I'm like Vinnie come they are not. going to cut you Vinnie that can I can I. promise you they're not going to go he's. okay oh you know everything yeah you've. been in the league for a long time okay. you know and he just kind of like walks. off or whatever and it was like Vinnie.

had an actual fear for every day he was. in there for whatever reason I'm too old. I'm too expensive now whenever was young. he was uh didn't get drafted Oh this is. going to happen in the middle of his. career uh they're GNA think I'm gonna. get hurt like if I miss a couple it's. like every day Vinnie thought he was. going to get fired if he didn't do. something great it's like that's a. healthy thing to have I don't know how. many people got it seems like not a lot. in col buing right now none can't. comfortable Matt Matt Slater he was one. of my favorite teammates every day like. how he showed up you know kind of like. the same mode of all these guys we've.

been talking about like every day he was. like de but man like my ass I'll be. playing for the. Argonauts every time every rep there a. joint practice cuz like Slater was I. mean Balls to the walls every rep didn't. matter what he was doing scout team. defense wide receiver special teams. whatever uh but moving on I got a good. question for you I think a good question. it is a good question I think these. young quarterbacks and you talked about. kind of obviously you've been in a. league forever so you you you know March. OTAs all this now I feel like time.

is so much cutback in the building is it. almost a necessity for these young. quarterbacks to kind of have a offseason. quarterback coach or somebody I guess. third party or somebody they can have on. their team they kind of check in with. work out work through things throughout. the offseason I know receivers they can. go and run routes maybe catch balls from. receivers DBS same movement stuff but as. far as knowing schemes a lot of things. are pretty similar uh Team to team but. for QB trying to develop with so many. things on their plat so early uh what do. you think about that offseason.

quarterback coach type things as a. younger quarterbacks when it come to. development yeah I mean I have an. interesting perspective because I never. had that you know I I never uh really. felt like I needed uh you know an. offseason kind of quarterback Guru with. me I mean I had Tom Clemens Tom is the. best quarterback Guru that I know and so. I got to work with him start in March. but I do think the offseasons are so. very important for young players to. figure out how to take care of your body. during that time and how much football. to do how much clearing your mind to do.

um but at some point it's got K in this. is a full-time job and I think it's a. different game you know than when I was. a young player where Victory Monday. meant you you don't come in Monday you. don't come in Tuesday right that's not. really the case anymore like no more see. you Wednesdays why. I I joke about that you know the few. times we won which twice on Thursday so. uh C and Wednesday didn't really hit as.

much as you know when we actually won. game on Sunday but you felt real good. that first time you f I did feel good in. Tennessee I see you Wednesday yeah um. but I I do I do feel like when I say. it's a full-time job that means you're. in every day you know you're doing. something football every single day so. even if it was like hey uh you're kind. of off on Wednesday just get a workout. on Monday or tues Tuesday it's never. really you know maybe one twice at most. in in a season where you're like I'm.

going to take Tuesday fully off and not. go in but if I were to do that you know. I'd be in the tubs I'd be in the cold. plans I'd be in the sauna I'd be doing. red light therapy I give me get body. work oh uh you you never you're never. just off I think that's the that's the. thing you're never just off and even in. the off season I think it's important to. find a way to turn that switch off but. you're turning off your brain you're not. turning off your body like you got to. still take care of your body um I think. if I was a young player what I would do. is I would seek out a veteran guy who.

knows the game and just pick his brain. and get a mentor like get a mentor uh. that's played at a high level that's. done it that can help you you know that. you maybe watch film with once a week or. twice a week or maybe you do fundamental. stuff together maybe just talk about the. role of being a CEO as a quarterback I. think that's really really important um. and sometimes times you're lucky enough. to have that guy in the room and you've. been talking about Anthony like Joe. flacko to me would be would be a perfect. perfect guy Joe's wanted Super Bowl he's.

been around for a long time he's played. on a couple other teams played at high. level for a long long time like what a. great resource to just be like man let. me just pick this D's brain and and. learn or if if uh you know I'm a young. player reaching out to a Matt Stafford. you know Matt's been around forever he. played at a super high level or retired. guys like a Matt Ryan you know Matt's a. great dude like reaching out to a guy. like that and say hey can we just talk. once a week about what it's like to play. in this league what I need to do how I. can get better how I can figure out my. Monday to Saturday schedule just like.

how did you prepare what did you watch. on Monday what did you watch on Tuesday. what did you watch on Wednesday how did. you approach the install meetings during. the week uh you know what days did you. like to work out on to make your body. feel best any like little hacks you know. that you like that helped to helped you. feel good uh coming up till game day. like I don't know that's as a young. player if you don't have in the room or. if you do like having an outside. resource like that I think it would be. really good that's whole that's the. whole combo about these young. quarterbacks right now Y and obviously. Jaden's having great success and CJ had.

great success last year and he's going. to continue to have great success so I. think you know fans are like expecting. them to be great immediately upon. getting dropped in there and then it's. like you start looking back in time. outside of pton okay pton is different. but he has the most interceptions in the. history of any rookie quarterback and I. think Nick Sabin maybe said uh coach. Nick Sabin came out and said Payton's. mental toughness was built up to have a. lot of failures in that first year as a. rookie quarterback but you talk about. everybody else yourself included you. didn't have to play immediately watch it.

and inevitably becomes one of the. greatest of all time it's like I think. that is a huge development for. quarterbacks to have and to get is like. it's a and take a breath even after. everything you just did high school. college to get to this point it's been a. lot now take a breath and learn what. this next one is and go forward but some. places it's never going to be possible. because they need it now need it now. that's why hearing you say reach out to. these retired guys is cool because is. that the quarterback Community I don't.

think I know quarterback Community. pretty opening and welcoming like if. people reach out pretty pretty is that a. normal thing I mean I I think so I mean. every every time when I was a young. player and I used to see some of the. older guys at uh at Tahoe especially. like it was always kind of like hey. you're you're in the fraternity you know. like you're one of us and you know the D. marinos and John elways I mean Steve. Young has been a good friend of mine for. a while somebody I've reached out to uh. when I was a younger player to ask. questions about certain things and and. he was great you know and we I think.

guys I don't know I think guys would. enjoy that you know to still be. connected to to help a young guy going. through it it's different you know I set. for three years Jay love set for three. years um you know there. been Drew Tom set yeah sa behind Alex. Smith yeah I mean and the flip side is. some guys are already playing year one. but that doesn't end the story you know. like I think our the media World wants. to Crown a guy after a year second year.

is really hard because now you got 17. games of film plus playoffs on a guy try. to figure out how to stop them and. that's why it's so uh impressive for a. guy like Lamar or anybody to win. multiple MVPs because you've had years. to game plan this guy and trying to. figure out okay you know there was a. time where everybody was Zero Blitz and. Lamar you know let's zero Blitz Lamar. like crazy well they got through that. stretch there's stretches your career. where you got to get through whatever. the label is on how to stop you know you. and the way you play and first you got.

to establish what the label is because. you got to go out and ball out and then. them try and figure out how to stop you. but but he doesn't stop after one good. year I made the Pro Bowl my first year. well okay well then do it again the next. year you know like it's going to be. harder now they got now you have six. games against division opponents that. spend a lot of their offseason uh. scouting those three games trying to. figure out how to stop you so the second. year is really hard then you got to you. kind of get over a lump at some point. where now there's enough film out there.

that um you know you've seen a lot more. but you're always working on your game. and always working on your preparation. and always working on the little things. and I think any older quarterback where. they're still playing and retired um you. know I think that's part of the the fun. part of the legacy is to help the Next. Generation so I don't know how much that. goes on I think I think it would help. certain people in certain positions but. even like Jaden after this year I mean. it's going to be a good year whatever. how he finishes they got a real good. team you know that probably be in the. playoffs offensive Rookie of the Year. congrats offensive rookie of the year.

yeah I mean but then there's going to be. 17 plus games of film out there on you. and you're going to have to watch that. as intently as they're watching it to. figure out how they're going to try and. stop you and what you can do better and. then you reinvent yourself every single. year um and which is why it's so. impressive to see a guy like Lamar bring. him up again because um he has gone from. the most dynamic athlet. in the league which he was and I'm not. saying he's not still I mean he's got to. be in the top couple if he's not the. still the most dynamic I mean with the. ball in his hands it's like him and Ty.

Hill are two of the you know scariest. guys think team yeah um but uh but but. now he's he's done such a great job of. of throwing the ball on time from the. pocket that uh makes it really tough to. stop what did they do to you Patrick. Maham they want what cover two and just. said he's going to get bored he's he's. going to get bored he's not going to be. able to handle running the ball and then. having to play defense that's what they. did to Patrick Mahomes he obviously gets. through it they wion a Super Bowl during. the entire thing what did they do to you. what was the first thing that they. started doing to you do you recall well.

usually starts at least back then it. started with pressure they would try and. pressure you early and see if you can. pick up pressure if you can deal the. ball if you can throw hot if you can do. production. adjustments then a lot of times and it. went for us you know it was it was. playing a lot of to high all right can. you be patient can you be patient taking. checkdowns can you be patient throwing. the ball underne tail his old as time. can we and then and then for me because. you know I was I was extending play so. much it was it was really the rush. patterns that changed so it was really. box rushes to like interior you know.

very Stout in the middle and not rushing. past the uh the the the quarterback keep. you in the well brother keep you in the. whale brother that's what they're trying. to do yeah they're still doing that. because you're wide open out. there yeah don't I mean that sucks for. DBS though what's that like quarterbacks. like Aaron or like Big Ben or somebody. was like yeah keep him in a well but. that's you know 4 seconds when you got. guys to adjust and then when you play. when these quarterbacks play with these.

receivers so we see with Patrick and. Travis like he knows soon as he breaks. like Travis okay I'm going this way and. then boom he comes balls right on him. Devonte Jordy whoever it is like you. play with these guys so long you know. their intent you know their body. language so it's like yeah keeping them. in the well is great but then when you. have that extra time where you got to. cover where it doesn't matter you can. call the perfect coverage on third and8. when you got to extend like you can't. cover you can't cover 5c plays all of a. sudden become a nightmare for those who. have to run all over the field and can't. well that was always I think the back. Breakers I DB you'd probably agree with. this you know when when when they clamp.

us when they would clamp us and I would. extend to play and get out of the pocket. and find somebody after you know five or. six seconds those are back breakers for. the the defense because you just don't. have a a defense we were talking about. that with uh with uh DJ Reed he was. laughing he said he said yeah man I just. wasn't ready for the 45 yard comeback. route he's covering guy covering guy the. guy's running vertical he's running with. him and then the guy breaks his route. off you know and in you know long. scramble and completes a pass he yeah I.

didn't have that on the uh you know on. the old tape I watched this week he. didn't have that route he didn't show me. that route the cups hey that's perfect. segue for this particular question. because uh I guess 27 of the 35 sacks. that have come for this one particular. player are four plus second place yep so. a lot of people don't really know and. he's a rookie he's young I mean there's. it kind of all ties to this go con man. yeah Aon big news today Shane waling. getting fired as the Bears OC and. obviously because of that there's a lot. of conversation about Caleb in the. offensive line in Chicago and all that.

stuff but what do you think is kind of. going on with Caleb just personally when. it comes to all these things happening. you know there's a radio show that. saying you know some vets wanted Waldren. out and they were asking if Beijing. could get some time but for Caleb as a. rookie you know what do you think he's. kind of going through mentally and how. do you think the rest of the season kind. of goes for him here after the ch. at OC and kind of getting a fresh voice. in his helmet. now well unfortunately that's the nature. of our league now right it's it's.

coaches and play callers on both sides. of the ball aren't making it through a. season um there's been a lot of. quarterbacks who've had R rough starts. of the career with multiple play callers. um I feel like at one point Alex Smith. had you know four different play callers. first four years or something I believe. in San Fran uh you can fact check me on. that but um I know there's a number of. play callers and there's been a lot of. you know been a lot of guys who figure. it out over the years um but it doesn't. make it easy on the quarterback uh for. sure there's just not a lot of patience.

anymore in the league it's it's uh it's. you know get this guy out of here and. unfortunately what happens and I I. really mean this is it a lot of it is. rinse and repeat under the guise of. brand new scheme brand new. approach um and un and that's that's the. way the league is going too often. there's not the patience to go listen I. believe in X this person this schem this. coordinator this player and we're going. to weather these storms because it's.

going to make us a mentally tough group. or a mentally tough person yeah and. we're going to get behind these people. and this is I don't care what you have. to say outside the building this what. we're going to do and for a young player. to come in like that be drafted first. overall with all the pressure scrutiny. expectations obviously with the roster. moves they made and then you get rid of. the the guy calling the plays after what. nine games 10 games something like that. um that's that's a tough that's a tough. deal for him but uh I don't know him I.

know uh you know I know a little bit. about him and I think don't give him. advice he's strong enough I'm not's. strong listening I'm Jo May that was a. moment between he and CJ St was a moment. between he and CJ ST which obviously he. he's strong enough mentally to get. through this he is he is you know um and. Chicago is a great Sports town they got. great sports fans um um uh but the the. the consensus for all fans is if we're. not winning now and everybody needs to.

get the hell out yeah and listen There. Are Places I'm sure that that are broken. uh you know locker rooms that may not uh. be sticking together or staffs that need. to shakeups from time to time but I. would continue to preach patience for. players and for coaches but you know. what it starts with ownership ownership. has to come out make strong statements. this is the plan this is what we're. doing uh we're going to trust the. process or trust the guys that are in.

place uh unless there's a major problem. an. issue uh an arrest you know or something. that throws a wrench in the plans lot. that is coming uh I don't know I'm just. thinking what could what could derail. Hey listen we're giving this thing three. years you know this is what we're doing. um and I don't care what the outside. opinions are but unfortunately I think. there's too much too there's too often. the opinions of whether it's a social. media world or the incredible experts. out there talking about football.

actually. impacts Bill yesterday Bill bich billion. dollar a billion dooll organizations. Bill told us that yesterday we're. mindblown like because we had heard that. that was potentially the case in uh some. spots because our name had been. mentioned maybe and a coach had had to. answer for something that I said. on my show for him he's like do you know. that I had to actually because you and. I'm like oh no that can't be real and. then we asked Bill yesterday he's like. back in Cleveland they were saying.

things in the morning paper he would. have to answer the questions that were. basically coming through the opinion. parts of newspapers he's like this has. been happening since beginning of time. seemingly with teams that's wild that is. wild to think about but hey makes it fun. doesn't it that's what we've been saying. his whole time we should be listening to. mhm duh yeah we should be the ones not. us just give us a team please we we'll. be back tomorrow with another great show. that will impact the.

mean I love rich in general he's a. amazing coach you know and great. motivator um but he would talk about how. difficult that he's like one of the most. difficult positions in sports it's. terrible you just got guys just trying. to run you over every time yeah. and the the actual technique is called. die slowly so that first word pretty. important going to die okay that is just. we just need you to die slowly which. once again that guy was not supposed to. be in the front line though n that guy.

adversity and um you know I I know just. talking to some guys that play down. there and I and I read part of an. article that was out a few weeks ago. about the tours and stuff that are down. there you know there's some interesting. things that goes on in Dallas for sure. I've never been there so I can't speak. firsthand but if anybody can handle uh. what's going on in there it's Big Mike. so I hope you know I feel bad for Dak. getting getting banged up but I hope. they can uh figure things out and. hopefully I think Mike is almost back.

be a friend tell a friend something nice. it might change their life take. fa why is football the greatest sport on. Earth and do you think football is the. greatest sport in North and why do you. like. football that's a really deep question. there Pat I know I I think I get a good. answer out of you though like I I think. you'd be able to talk about it in a way. that I think a lot of people haven't. because you've been at the Pinnacle of. it for so damn long and inside of it and. your brain is a pretty fantastic one.

we've learned here over the last few. weeks obviously last few weeks that's it. that's all the time we've learned. that I think it's the greatest sport in. the world for one main reason it is a. true team sport where it is damn near. impossible for one person to dominate an. entire game if you look at other team. sports uh uh basketball with Five Guys. on the court I think you've seen. multiple players over the years uh maybe. one player maybe one or two players on a. squad be able to dominate and win.

championships baseball you can have a. dominant pitcher uh and win. championships soccer you can have a. dominant forward and or goalie that. seems to be a little more of a team. sport but you don't have 11 players. engaged at the same time on every play. it is truly uh a sport reliant on. every player on the field to do their. job in order to be successful and I. think that's why at times you know. certain star players can get uh maybe.

too much credit and and maybe too much. blame on the flip side because it does. take so many players at the same time in. three phases to win football games uh. and I think that's the beauty and the. draw of our sport is that something new. happens all the time because you are. literally dealing with 11 humans on the. field at one time who all have lives. outside of football and there's. distractions there's uh a Reliance on on. coaching there's a Reliance on. Preparation there's a Reliance on diet.

and performance um I just think there's. so many facets to it that you see. something new every single week and I. think that's the beauty in our game uh. when it comes to the love that I have. for it it's rooted and I think like any. uh any player who's played for a long. time the the love is not just about our. sport it's about. competition I think there's nothing in. the world for me that fills that need. and that hole I have like competition I.

think we you know players who play for a. long time at a high level you have. that uh need to be. satiated uh competitively and and it's a. love of going out there and going. against guys and be in environment where. you know that uh. nothing is guaranteed and that's why at. times have taking uh umbrage to people. saying that it's easy because it's not. easy it's never easy and I think that's.

the beauty in our game is that you seese. things new every single week it's never. easy and your only thing you're. guaranteed is is the ability to. compete uh I love that aspect of I love. competing I love going out there and. harnessing the fear of failure where I. think so many people who maybe don't. love football as much the root of that. is is a deep fear of failure that you. might go out there and your best might. not be good enough and that's not okay.

that but let's chitchat about here uh. you being a head coach in the NFL. obviously friend of the program we've. got a chance to chat with you whenever. you decided to kind of take on the. leadership of special teams coordinators. around the NFL to figure out the kickoff. answer the way you talked about it I. think we all loved you fell in love with. your energy fell in love with the way. you do things feels like your team feels. the same exact way about you you're now. inter coach how much have you been able. to change and how has your life changed. over the last week or so with the. boys yeah definitely definitely a little. crazy week to say the least uh no doubt.

about that I think you know me well. enough to know that my my personality is. not going to change much right um I. would say this um you know when you're. in the middle of the Season you guys. know this there's only so much you can. do but I did think it was important for. the building the players the coaches you. know we came back on that on last. Wednesday I want I wanted to just look. and feel a little bit different you know. I add my own little touch to it you know. if you will so I know you guys have. heard about the locker room changes and. the schedule changes practice schedule.

um you know I had said to the guys you. know our our last home game uh not this. one against against the Falcons but the. one previous to that you know I didn't. feel that Super Dome energy not from the. fans I'm talking about from the players. uh kind of I want to get that back and. so you know the passion the energy all. that stuff was was the big theme last. week and uh you know I really haven't. had a chance to kind of soak it all in. just kind of you know you you know the. deal we're in the middle of we're in the. middle of the season so just uh made. those changes the guys all bought in the.

leadership bought in and uh and here we. are so we're going into week two and we. got to duplicate the same thing okay. well how about this let's take it in for. a moment congrats man not easy to do. that not easy to do that especially when. it's real loud and everything else. that's going on division opponent's. playing very well the Atlanta Falcons. obviously going to be difficult some. people in here actually didn't think you. guys were going to be able to do it some. people said that some people right over. there didn't think you had the. opportunity I assume he wasn't the only. one in the world didn't think you guys. had a chance but the team looked. different it felt different Derek Carr. talked about how we got as the most.

amount of uh plays I think I've ever had. in a practice and then we heard you come. out and talk about this activation mode. and I know you know there's only 32 head. coaching uh jobs in the league at the. top everybody has thought though about. what a team would look like or how a. practice would go if they were the head. coach though is that implementing those. things is that what that was what we. heard from Derek and what we heard from. you about the activation period is this. kind of what you thought a team would. look like if you were the head coach or. how are you making these decisions and. kind of choosing what to change the. little things you can in the middle of a.

season sure you know I think listen I. think when you work for a lot of people. a couple different organizations along. the way i' I've interviewed for a head. coaching job a couple different times. and so you know I always put a plan. together uh there's always some ideas. that uh that you think hey man when I. get a chance to take over I want to do. this I think this is the right formula. uh I felt like it was the right time. right place and and but again none of. that's possible and you guys know this. none of that's possible that's the. players buy into it so you know I met. with the leadership group quickly all.

those guys you know Alvin cam de Mario. Derek taes you know all that leadership. guys Eric McCoy uh the captains and and. went through all kind of the things I. was thinking and they were like coach. we're in man we're in and uh know the. activation the way we were going to run. the practice was kind of high Tempo high. volume number of plays maybe not as. intense uh post Snap but but really. intense pre- snap game leg off the. sideline 402 clock and uh you know I'm.

sure everybody was a little bit you know. apprehensive in the beginning especially. Derek right uh but man after after. practice number one they were like that. was awesome that was awesome that that's. you know and that was really great to. hear and then you know and then we kind. of just you know rolled with it all week. and all said that they felt like you. know they were just super prepared for. the game both mentally and physically. and uh you know I I was really talking. to the lineman all week to be honest. with you um the offensive defensive.

lineman been like hey what do you think. what do you you know how do you feel. what and uh because those are the guys. that you know sometimes when you change. up the practice schedule they can affect. them the most especially middle of the. season and they were like Coach man we. feel great and then the offensive. defensive lineman really going into the. game where the guys were like man we are. ready to go and set the tempo and that. was that was pretty cool smart to get. the o line and dline on your side too. cuz if they're bitching everybody's. bitching oh yeah you know that that's a. that's a smart play for a guy that's. been around a long time I love the way.

you've gone about doing what you do go. ahead AJ coach I know you've uh you've. been a head coach at the college ranks. but what was it like being a head coach. in NFL sideline like on game day was it. what you expected was there any little. things that came up here there like what. is your after the game have you been. able to sit down and feel like okay what. do I need to do next week so we can. continue. this yeah listen definitely different uh. being on the sideline for college and. being on on the sideline the NFL games. what I tried to tell myself going into. the game was man you go to here I am. preaching accountability and and stay in.

the moment and I was like hey you got to. listen to yourself here and so just try. to stay in the moment during the game. the situations um and and that was easy. for me because I've really been doing. the game management stuff for the better. part of 10 years uh with you know with. the head coaches and so you know all the. challenges and and of course right away. we have a challenge that comes up yeah. and then you know the time out the. timeouts and all that stuff so I said to. myself you can't get wrapped up in the. in the whole week you just gota you know. take these three hours and treat it like.

any other game you know certainly. there's G to be it's gonna be my call I. don't have to ask anybody uh if we're. gonna take a time out or do anything. like that I just but at the same time I. I I I'm like man uh you know you got to. make sure your process stays the same um. you guys have probably heard this you. know I talked to Bill Parcels I talked. to Dan Campbell uh I talked to Todd BS. during the week and and all those guys. were like RZ man just just be Riz be. yourself don't be different you know. don't be one of those guys that gets in. the head coaching you know seat and all.

a sudden changes his ways you know don't. be that guy and uh because because the. players will see right through it oh. yeah you know what that's yeah yep so. man just be yourself and then and uh but. man it was it was awesome the Super Dome. was was phenomenal the fans were great. uh they were into it and and we gave. them a little bit something to cheer. about early on so kind of got him going. a little bit that really cool yeah. getting the home crowd involved early is. should be playing you know that should. be a part of it like hey if this is a. added weapon for us this super doome. which I appreciate how much you respect.

it it's like hey we need a little bit. more we're playing in a super doome like. this is an honor like I I like that that. is how you viewed it and pitched it to. your team and I like that your team. bought in you know like I think that is. a big deal you can you know people say. you lost the locker room or whatever. when a substitute teacher comes in. wherever the case is there's some people. that like ah yeah but he's been around. they know him special teams coordinator. too come on hell yeah proud of you RZ. proud of you RZ legit now there was a. situation there at the end of the game. dbut got a question hey coach RZ you're.

pretty jacked up after your first win. rightfully so we saw obviously we saw. all the cameras you got a little banged. up here so what are you on the injury. report off the injury report will you be. joining the activation periods going. forward maybe get a little lathered up. uh how you feeling going. forward oh man yeah I'm definitely. limited for sure there no doubt I'm not. full go uh no man listen those guys were. those guys were fired up at the end and. uh and you know I I think you guys. probably heard the story you know we s.

Chase Chase gets his sack there to sack. fumble and and they lose a bunch of. yards and and Payton Turner started. spraying his water bottle I'm like man. the game's not over I'm like stay locked. in 30 more seconds you know we got a. couple more plays here and I'm ripping. his ass so when the game is over you. know here's his chance he's gonna come. right back at me and and the guy's got. fired up and then when I wasn't looking. he got me and man my my literally my. entire left arm went completely numb I. mean it was like a yeah it was it felt. like an elephant trunk I mean I was like.

are you kidding me so then so then I'm. leaning on pton and he's like looking at. me he's like coach you all right he's. like he thought I was having a heart. attack or something this is I'm fine I'm. like you just completely I got a stinger. down my left arm he's like coach I'm. sorry I'm sorry I'm like no we won don't. worry about it I'll take it oh good take. one for the team and uh but yeah so. that's what happened so I look like a. complete ner at the end of the game for. sure I got a couple good shots in there. and then all a sudden he buckled me but. it's like the. old from behind snip.

hey live you Lear hey hey that's hey we. win we just won a game baby we just won. a game baby got got to enjoy the hell. out if I had to if I had to sign up for. it if I had to sign up for it ahead of. time I would do it all over again I'll. take the hit okay okay so that's after. the game let's go to before the game Tai. has a question for you yeah coach I. think everyone appreciated how you made. no bones about it like listen I got to. the stadium I've never used the coach's.

locker room before I take a and I. clog the toilet so you can imagine how I. think the day is going to go after that. so this is a two-part question uh a I. mean we're talking the super doome here. those are industrial pipes what did you. what did you eat the night before that. made you clog the toilet and have you. considered now going forward you don't. have a choice to you got to take massive. nukes before the game and clog the. toilet every single. week oh man it so so here I am and and. I'm in there but obviously by myself.

right so I'm like are you kidding me. this is really happening right now so I. I I got up and I'm like you know what if. we win this game I'm I'm telling. everyone this story because you know. what there's not a person out there that. hasn't done that before right everyone. can relate come on now didn't hear. doesn't matter right but but it wasn't. it wasn't even that it's just like the. toilet wasn't going down I was like are. you serious like this is really how my. day is gonna oh man so yeah I'm like I. gotta share this and if we lost no one.

would have ever known but but I'm like. you know what I'm I'm gonna share this. with everybody no I didn't get the. plunger Pat come on I didn't okay I I. didn't know I didn't know what all. happened did you you rolled up you. rolled up your arm in there did you like. AJ I mean it's tough coming back from. that you might have to start every game. like that that's the crazy thing about. it Tai I didn't think about that now. though you. know people get superstitious I know. it's a baseball thing more than than. football but how do you with everything. we said like how do you continue your. message how do you continue to I guess. bring this much juice I know you're. going to be you but how do you continue. for your message to get across and.

evolve and really you know as your team. you grow as the season goes with you as. the head. coach yeah I I I think that's actually. going to be in in the locker room after. the game I said to the team I think. that's going to be our biggest challenge. like you know a lot of times it's easy. to get on board with something that's. new and fresh and exciting and you know. we press to restart and all that it's in. order to duplicate that and duplicate. that effort duplicate that energy listen. I'm going to bring it every day I you. know the the leadership of the team is. going to be the most important thing I'm. gonna challenge those guys this week uh.

let's let's have a better practice week. uh there's plenty of stuff you know from. the game that that that we got to get. better the te you know we didn't we. wouldn't execute we certainly weren't. perfect uh there's there's stuff we got. to get better at so let's make that the. focus this week let's keep the same. energy let's keep the same juice let's. make the corrections but at the end of. the day we won that game uh this past. week because we were prepared and we. made plays when we needed to I mean you. know the honey badger interception the. chase young uh strip sack the block. field goal by Ridgeway I mean we made.

going to Maui for a great tournament in. the middle of it and winning the Maui. cup he said one of those trophies is one. of the ones we're looking at like I like. anytime something is hyped up like I I. enjoy that games mean something the. games mean something and then we. eventually get to elimination games like. anytime you're playing Elimination games. wondering why I was saying governor Jeff. Landry wanted this tiger so much on. college game day it's because I learned. a pretty good amount about Governor je. Landry in a Friday night dinner and this. guy needs to be learned about this dude. this dude is wide open down there now he. he has his supporters no doubt as he. should and he uh represents his. constituents but he also has his. feelings about what LSU game should look.

like and feel like and uh just getting a. chance to be there a part of the whole. first time since 2015 live tiger and. then allegedly you know like University. we're okay without one you know without. a live tiger we got one right outside. here in the sanctuary we got this. figured out good air conditioning on the. Rocks we got the whole thing able to do. this it's a sanctuary allegedly you know.
