Hello beautiful people and welcome to. our humble bone the thunderdome on this. NFL schedule release Tuesday May 13. 2025. This program starts. now are happening all around us. Last. night was a big night for the NBA as the. draft lottery took place and everybody. immediately said it was rigged. Uh the. Dallas Mavericks with a 1.8% chance to. win the draft lottery and have the. number one overall pick presumably for. Cooper flag ended up winning uh the.

draft lottery right there on TV. Now, the way Mark Tatum and the NBA decided. to do it was certainly interesting. Anytime you have two people left for. something and there's only going to be. one winner, especially a number one. overall pick, we believe that you should. probably showcase who's the first. overall pick so it can be a celebratory. moment as opposed to uh oh, Spurs, you. get the number two. And also that means. Dallas gets number one. Should be a. celebratory moment. Obviously, it was. for the people in Dallas, especially. after how the year has gone. Obviously, Luca gets traded away from the Dallas. Mavericks. Here's Nico and the boys back.

in Dallas. Yo, 1.8% chance. We did it. We did it. We did it. Now, as they were reacting in. complete surprise, everybody on the. internet said it was no surprise. Everybody said that this was kind of a. rigged situation. They made a move for. the NBA. Luca LA was obviously a massive. storyline. Brought a lot of people back. to the NBA as maybe their ratings were. kind of dwindling. And in return, the. NBA paid him back by giving them the. number one overall pick. Now, what will. they do? Well, anyone Ernstston Young, the accounting department says, that's. right. They overlook the entire process. And I don't know how you would rig a.

lottery with the balls. and we've seen. the balls and they had to pick four. different balls to be able to get the. Mavericks in there and whatever the case. is. And people are always going to say. something's a work, something's being. worked, especially if they end up not. winning. But with the Dallas Mavericks. winning, they had the fourth lowest. percentages to end up getting the number. one overall pick in the history of the. draft lottery. Now, with Kyrie Irving, Anthony Davis, and what does his future. look like? We'll talk to his agent, Rich. Paul, in about 14 minutes or so to kind. of get his thoughts on this all. And. then Cooper Flag with Klay Thompson on. that team. Are the Dallas Mavericks all. the way back? And was that move post.

Luca maybe a great decision or are the. Dallas Mavericks gonna trade that pick. maybe for. Giannis the Greek freak maybe comes down. to Dallas? Could you imagine Anthony. Davis, Giannis, Kyrie Irving, Klay. Thompson, Nico running laps obviously. because he's in better shape than. everybody down there in Dallas. Do they. immediately become title contenders. because of the addition of Giannis? And. now that is what the next conversation. is going to be for about a month or so. appreciated the way Cooper Flag handled. it all last night because every time he. was being talked to or talked about, it. was in the assumption that he was going. to be a member of the Dallas Mavericks. He was going to be the number one. overall pick. The draft hasn't happened. yet. Just the lottery. He answered all. the questions I think perfectly. I think. he handled himself like a complete. professional and I think Cooper Flag is. obviously going to be a dog. Now, if the. Indiana Pacers would like make some. moves, get up number one overall, I. would certainly love to see the flag. land itself right here in Indie. Obviously, OTAAS don't really start for. a lot of teams until the end of May, but. we're getting stories from OTAAS. Like. for instance in Cincinnati, Trey. Hendrickson showed up today in a polo. Yeah. Okay. Yep. Showed up in a polo, walked onto the field with the lads who. are working, which I believe are the. rookies, young guys in this entire. thing. Trey Henderson there showing. face. Does this mean they are currently. negotiating? Does this mean that Trey. Hendrickson Cincinnati Bengals are maybe.

trying to get a deal done? Tom Pelisera. reported that Trey Hendrickson is there. to address the Cincinnati media about. his current contract status? Well, then. why would he be going out to practice? I. think this is a good thing for Trey and. the Cincinnati Bengals. I think this. means that they're talking, maybe. negotiating. Remember Ian Rapaort told. us yesterday that they think he thinks. that Cincinnati Bengals will pay Trey. Hendrickson. Trey Hendrickson said, "Are. anybody going to tell me that?" Cuz they. haven't told me a single word. Maybe. that's what's happening today. Nonetheless, there are people that are. on Trey Hendrickson side around the NFL. that are saying, "Trey, if you want this.

to actually happen, at some point you're. going to have to put, you know, those. probably uh loafers." Yeah. If I guess. you're going to have to put a loaf for. Don and say, "Hey, enough of this. He's. deserved to get paid. Maybe this is a. step in the right direction. Maybe they. are currently negotiating and Trey. Henderson gets his bag sooner than. later." Tom Pelis reported no. breakthrough negotiations. Trey. Hendendrickson is in. Cincinnati to hear what he has to say. today and maybe just face to face type. situation. Trey Hendrickson says, "Let's.

Sorry. about it for the Celtics, man. Obviously, I didn't get a chance to. watch it live. I watched it afterwards. as I was traveling home from Monday. Night Raw. Jason Tatum, I believe with. how much pain he was in, okay, and I am. not a doctor obviously. I have been. somebody that has watched a lot of.

sports and seen a lot of injuries. With. how much pain Jason Tatum, who is a mega. star, superstar, a phenomenal basketball. player. Obviously, the Knicks are up at. this point and it's late in the fourth. So maybe the Knicks win regardless, but. nonetheless, the amount of pain that he. was kind of in there makes me believe. maybe not what everybody is fearing, which is the Achilles. But I am not a. doctor. Uh it obviously looks terrible. He got wheelchaired out of there. Obviously, the future is now in great. speculation and question. He has an MRI. today that's going to give us more.

answers, but I think uh maybe they're. not so much pain. Oh, I don't know. con. man. I am I am heartbroken for Boston. and for Jason Tatum who has seemingly. done everything right and never really. got the amount of flowers that I think. he has deserved. Obviously, we would. assume season's over for this year. What. does it mean for the future of Jason. Tatum? Yeah, and it was in the middle of. a master class. He played so well. He. had 42 points at this point. I think you. know me and Darius were talking about. this earlier. It felt as though he was. on his way to 50, especially with the. way, you know, he would have closed that.

game out. But yeah, I also had those. feelings. you know, maybe because he's. so upset because of the way his foot. looks as he's being carried off. It's. up. Yeah. Which we know, you know, when. when it's an Achilles tear, it's just it. can't go up. It's just kind of hanging. down. But, uh, I I thought it was more. so the realization of uh, holy I. tore my Achilles, which is why he was. writhing in, you know, maybe not pain, but just emotion, why he was so. emotional being wheelchaired out. And it.

really is a bummer especially because of. what Shams has talked about with the. changes to the roster that are. inevitable after this year and now you. know if it isn't Achilles worst case. year kind of preparing for that he's out. all of next year. You know next year's a. complete wash. We saw this with Kevin. Durant and granted it was in the finals. when he tore his Achilles but he went. from Golden State to Brooklyn and he. missed the entire first year when he was. in Brooklyn. So, you're praying that. it's not that. But, yeah, at this point. it is doom and gloom in New England in.

Boston. I'm I'm not going to say the. series is over just yet. I still have a. little bit of faith and you know, the. boys in that locker room and Joe. Missoula and Jaylen Brown being the. first option, but last night was tough. And to be fair, I I don't know what if. if Hembo sent you something, but I'm. pretty sure the Knicks missed three. shots in the fourth quarter. They were. lights. That's kind of their mo. Yeah, they earned it. That's kind of the. nipsmo is that in the fourth quarter. especially uh the Brunson burner Jaylen. Brunson what he's done in fourth.

quarters what he has accomplished you. look down there at staff fourth quarter. points for the first 10 games of one NBA. playoff since 1997 that's a long time a. lot of dogs have played obviously in the. playoffs that's where the superstars. happen. This guy's unstoppable in the. fourth quarter. He's not the only one. though. It seems like it's an entire. team mindset that we're going to keep. this close and if we're in it in the. fourth we're going to go ahead and take. this thing over. That is a great trait. to have as a basketball team. Yeah, Bridges. Male Bridges. I feel like when. the trade happened, it was one of those. things this offseason that was looked at.

as a big move. And then when moments. like this happen, I think everyone. realizes it was a big move. Cat played. extremely well. Didn't really have too. much of an answer for him and Mitchell. Robinson when it came to offensive. rebounds. And then Jaylen was just so. good at kind of facilitating you. We. talk all the time about Brunson, but. there's an assist to Bridges there after. drawing a double team. Cat great. alleyoop to Mitchell Robinson. And. Mitchell Robinson again, I think he had. five offensive rebounds in legitimately.

four minutes in the first half. He he. was a massive difference maker. But. Bridges just could not miss. And and. that was the story of I believe game. two. He had no points and then in the. fourth quarter he had 14 points. Uh so. they really did they won this game. I I. wouldn't say it was completely over um. when Tatum got hurt, but they were. definitely on their way to a victory. And the best part of this game, may. maybe not the the the worst part rather, would be just the arena itself. It was. electrifying in there. The Garden showed.

up. Yeah. Not only the Garden, out on. the streets as well. And I had a chance. to be uh in New York. I forget who they. beat. Uh that was the Pistons. Yeah, they beat the Pistons. They beat uh. Jaylen Brunson hits that three to win in. game six. And this is what it was like. I I mean New York City has come alive. and obviously the Knicks have always. been a team. What's their name? The full. name the New York the New York Knicks. [Music]. Debut. What is the name? Uh what I mean. long I was born ' 86. I've only heard. them called Oh, you mean the old school. name when they weren't judging players.

based on some things. What's that? Uh we. learned in the city with uh with uh Bill. Simmons about some some of the people. that uh you know back then the teams. would avoid certain players when they. were drafting when when they received. the number one and number two overall. pick. And actually funny enough maybe. that's why the old name of the New York. team was like that cuz it is pretty. screwed up. Yeah. Well there's people. trending for saying the old school name, you know, trying to trying to really uh. showcase a basketball. Nonetheless, the.

New York Knicks fans were in absolute. abundance on the streets shutting down. the city. Now, this has happened on. multiple times during this playoff run. It's a beautiful thing what sports can. do legitimately. And obviously, they're. up 3-1 and we've talked about these. stats, especially with the Pacers being. up 3-1 over the Cleveland Cavaliers. If. it's going to come up here continually, it's like 96% of the time a team is up. 3-1 in the playoffs in the NBA, they. have gone on to win that series in all. eyes now in the Eastern Conference. And. once again, sucks for Tatum, sucks for. the Celtics. We are incredibly bummed.

out. It looks as if both of them have to. get the job done still. Joe Missoula is. not just going to roll over. We We. understand that the Celtics aren't going. to do that. Cleveland Cavaliers, Donovan. Mitchell, uh game time decision, not. just going to quit. We understand that. they're both great teams. There's a. reason they're still around. But all. eyes now are on the Pacers and the. Knicks in the Eastern Conference Finals. And obviously Tyrese and Jaylen, they. had a little bit of heat last year. whenever they were battling. This is a. good old school rivalry that's. potentially being renewed and I think. it's good for basketball that it's. happening. Old school rivalry coming. back. You know, Rick Carl after his last.

win over the Cavs became the alltime win. in this head coach in Pacers history. when it comes to postseason wins. And. you talking about the different media. markets. You know, Nick's obviously the. in the biggest media market and us not. so much here. So, if we can go have a. good battle and come out on top, if. you're a Pacers fan, that'll be huge for. the overall brand for the Pacers and a. guy like Tyresese Hallebertton who has. been phenomenal. But we talked about it. being a team effort. That's kind of how. the Pacers come to play week in and. week. I mean, day in and day out. You. don't know who's going to be that guy,

who's going to have a big game on. offense, on defense, who's going to show. up. And it was like that last night with. the Knicks when they were closing up. Well, getting going up 3-1. You know, you four guys to score 20 points. Obviously, Brunson led the way with 39. Uh, but yeah, man, it it's going to be a. big time matchup if and when it happens. We know long. stoming with WWE. We saw Tatum, not. Tatum, I'm sorry, Brunson, and. Hallebertton in the ring. So that would. be awesome if they actually face off in. the conference finals. Yeah, whenever we.

went into the Garden and did some. gardening last year and knocked off the. New York Knicks, obviously they were not. healthy, you know, and somehow the. Pacers remain healthy and everybody else. somehow isn't. Is that something that. we're going to compliment? Maybe the. conditioning, the depth of the team, and. everything like that. I don't know if. that is a basketball conversation that. takes place. I'm not going to put it in. there. But the Pacers do seemingly show. up in the biggest moments and all their. guys are doing it, especially over the. last couple years. And for the first. time that I have seen, Tyrese. Hallebertton was on the a lower third on.

first take. And it was like, who wins a. title first, Ant-Man or Hallebertton? And it's like Tyrese. Hell yeah. Feels. like you're finally getting a little bit. of love, brother. You've been our. leading man out here. And ever since you. got traded, we have loved him. And uh. the way Carile coaches, the way the team. runs, the bases are the real deal. But. so are the New York Knicks. and they got. a toughness trait. Now, let's go to one. half of the hammer. Cowboys AP tone to. win the East. Now, what are the odds. sitting at? So, to win the East, the uh. Knicks are at plus 120 and the Pacers. are at plus 200. Uh so, they're pretty.

close there. A little bit of respect. there, but I was just laughing because I. was looking at the NBA championship odds. and the Pacers still plus 900. Right. behind them, those down 3-1 are the. Cleveland Cav Cavaliers potentially. without their best player, which is. hilarious. But no, I to win the East the. the plus 120 for the Knicks, plus 200. for Pacers. I that that feels. respectable. Yeah, it does. Keeps them. in the game. And obviously, you go back. to the uh the series is uh whatever. they're the Pacers are minus 300. Uh the. Minnesota Timberwolves are minus 5,000. Yep. Okay. They're minus 5,000 up 3-1.

Obviously, Steph Curry on the bench last. night. Ant-Man goes bananas. I got a. chance to watch the tailline of that. live and then catch up with the rest of. that game. Jimmy Butter tried his I. understand they're trying to do their. thing. Steve Curry's trying to do. without Ste uh Steph. That's going to be. a very tough thing. that Timberwolves. team phenomenal. And then you think. about the Oklahoma City Thunder. Here we. go. You know, that thing's obviously. tied 2-2 at this moment, but whenever. you think about OKC and Ant-Man, that's. young. That is very young there. And. then you go over to the East, you got.

Jaylen Brunson and the boys taking on. Tyrese and that's young there. It's. almost a dawning of a new day for this. particular playoff run. I love. everything about it and I think the. association has shown up in a big way. The Tatum injury sucks. That is. devastating. But I think the NBA still. continues to deliver. Yeah. I'm not sure. or I I'm not sure if it was the Luca in. the Mavs who got rid of the Thunder last. year or if it was the T-Wolves who. eliminated the Thunder. Maybe check that. because that would be another one of. those kind of budding rivalries similar. to, you know, Pacers and the Knicks. I.

will say with the teams that are kind of. left, especially the environments, I. think maybe when it comes to broadcast, we just do arena and fans because. personally, and maybe this is just my. thoughts, like when it comes to the. environments, man, like whether it's the. Boston Garden, whether it's Madison. Square Garden, whe whether it's, you. know, Indiana, whether it is the T-. Wolves, even Oklahoma City, like the. environments themselves are so sweet. So, like I I like the announcers. I. think we can just scratch them. I I.

think we can kind of just put send them. out to pasture and then we just let. these environments kind of eat, you. know, the situation that you're. referring to like last night. We avoid. that completely, especially if the. Knicks continue on. But it also just. kind of gives these fan bases some time. to shine. Yeah, we get it. Yeah. just didn't want to be a man. Like like I said earlier in the show, like no one gets this opportunity, man. Is zero to none and I couldn't be a. up. So that's what came with it. Amen. I. appreciate that mindset out of LeBron, but him saying that and uh obviously the. Dallas Mavericks having a 1.8% chance to. get the number one overall pick has. obviously recirculated around the. internet. And Kyrie Irving even put 1.8%. with double crop. It's like everybody's. reaction around the NBA is like, "What are we doing here? Is this real? What are we doing here? Why are we doing.

the entire uh kind of song and dance. whenever we kind of understand what's. going to Yeah, Kevin Love's just like, come on. What are we even talking. about?" Now, I'm not saying players. would be on the inside of this. information. Anyways, players obviously, we saw what Draymond Green said to the. ref the other night. Players are living. in the same reality that we are in. It. affects their life a lot more. But. Ernston Young, you know, the accounting. services, they oversee it. So I don't. think Ernston Young is necessarily. thrilled that people automatically. assume that this is a rigged gimmick. But I do know that Mike Greenberg, the.

impassion speech that he gave this. morning about the lottery and what it. does for the sport and what it does for. teams that are trying to get the number. one overall pick and inevitably they. don't get it. I did appreciate that. And. now he started popping off at the mouth. about how the NFL needs to start doing. this. Granny, we love you. You're in. multiple Hall of Fames. You're going to. end up in more Hall of Fames. The NFL is. good. Okay, the NFL the we are a-ok okay. in the NFL, but the NBA and the NHL. instituting these lotteryies and then. having a higher percentage if your team. stinks to get the number one overall. pick. Inevitably in the NBA, the worst.

team in the NBA the previous season has. never gotten the number one overall pick. this year. Actually, the Utah Jazz had a. 14% chance. We talked to Ryan Smith, the. owner, and uh they end up with the fifth. overall pick. Actually, what's the fifth. overall pick in any NBA draft? You're. right. Nobody knows because that is kind. of how the NBA draft goes in this entire. thing. Ryan Smith put out a tweet this. morning. I woke up frustrated, went for. a run, probably played some hoops, audibly screamed, son peeked over our. mountains, ran into a fellow. disappointed Jazz fan, remembered this.

is Utah, so getting back on the horse. with the best fans in the league because. it's what we do here. Goal doesn't. change now. Goal is certainly different. now. Mhm. Whenever you were going to get. uh what you were going to get the gold. post have certainly changed a little. bit. Rejoining us, ladies and gentlemen, founder of Clutch Sports, Rich Paul. Rich. Why would it be for the Dallas Mavericks.

in your eyes? And why do you think the. Dallas Mavericks uh why do you think. people think the Dallas Mavericks got. this just because Nico traded away Luca. for the good of the NBA? Is that kind of. what the conspiracy is? Yeah, I don't believe any of that. Um, I. think, you know, they had the 1.8%. chance. It's happened before several. times. Um, so, you know, I know what. people may think and the conspiracy. things, but that that couldn't be. further from the truth. Yeah. Cooper.

flag guaranteed number one overall pick. is kind of what everybody's saying. How. do you view him as an NBA prospect? And. what are your thoughts on people saying. maybe the Mavs trade this number one. overall pick to get another mega star? No, I think there there'll be no trade. I think the Mavs take them and I think. it's the right thing for the kid. Look, obviously there's been some teams there. that would have loved to have him. Uh. but I think when you look at Cooper. Flag, look at where he's at today, his.

his ability to develop next to guys like. AD and Lively and also playing with with. the Kyrie ones. he's back. I think it. helps him. You know, often times guys go. number one and we put put so much. expectation on these young players and. that's not really realistic. And so this. allows him to develop on a real. timeline. He gets to play through. mistakes without all the pressure being. on him to throw the ball and expect him. to get 25 30 points a game. That's not. realistic, especially equating to wins.

And so I think this would be a great. environment for him. Not saying that if. he went to Utah, if he went to San. Antonio, it wouldn't. And I know you you. think number one, you think the guy. right away, but it's okay to develop. into the guy. Like, there's nothing. wrong with developing into the guy. So, I think this will be a good fit for him. Dallas is was in the playin game, which. I think is why everybody's so mad. It's. like this team was good. They got a lot. of great pieces. They were obviously. injured for a large portion of the back. half of the season post the Luca trade. What could they possibly be? especially. with Cooper Flag coming in for us. We.

don't really know the the ins and outs. of the salary. So, like a rookie deal is. obviously much more feasible than a. veteran deal. So, whenever you can get a. rookie uh uh contract into your room, especially at a key position like. quarterback or something in the NFL, you. want to do that in the NBA. Cooper Flags. deal a massive benefit for them and how. they can shift the salary cap or is. everybody getting paid a ton of. money, especially number one overall. pick? Well, it's not just the contract. It's.

the it's it's the it's the production um. from a play perspective as well. So, that's why he won't be traded because. trading you hope to have a player uh at. his level being paid what he's being. paid, although that number one money is. a lot different than the supermax. players money. And so if you can get the. production level um high and the and the. pay potentially lower than what it. normally would be if you had to have a. supermax guy come in, that's really. helpful to the team and their. flexibility moving forward and things of.

that nature. And so once you start. getting to the first apron and the. second, it just makes things too too. difficult. So this is. why to me as as well as just who Hooper. could become, I think you keep the pick. I think Dallas will keep the pick and. and I think it'll it'll work well for. both sides. Excited to watch Cooper Flag. develop and in football we say, you. know, if you go to a good situation, you. already got a massive head start. Cooper. Flag going to a team that could have. made the playoffs, especially if they. were healthy. Massive head start for his.

career. Good luck down in Dallas. And. congrats to the Mavericks fans, man. Congrats a tough run and congrats to. your guy Nico, too. You said good things. happen to good people. A lot of people. weren't saying that about Nico just a. few months ago. And then now all of a. sudden back on top of the world. You. mentioned the San Antonio Spurs. AP Tone. has a question for you. Yeah, you did, Rich. And a lot of people think they got. the number they got the number two pick. now. So, that gives them a ton of ammo. to potentially go make a big move. Obviously, they have the last two. rookies of the year in WBY and Castle. They trade for Darren Fox. Do you think.

with that number two overall pick, they. could use that to go get someone big, or. do they just keep loading up on on young. stars for the future? Yeah, I mean, look, they could they could package two. and 14 and go and get something. They. could they could draft two and and do. something with 14. They have a lot of. options here, but again, what do they. need? I think I think they're the type. of team that we've seen draft need. Uh. they've been they hit it pretty well. over the years with Castle and obviously. Wimby, even guys like Devin Vel and they.

have young guys like a U Kell Johnson. So they have a good young core. And then. when you add like a De'Aran to that, you. know, again, it's San Antonio, so it. wouldn't surprise me they're going to be. very strategic about it. They're going. to be patient about it and and when they. do things, they do it with intent and. purpose. And so I I I imagine that that. they look at this draft and try to look. at age, timeline, production, the.

ability to develop and and you know make. the best choice for the organization. going forward. They're going to make a. long-term choice for sure. There are so. many storylines at the top there. Like. if the Sixers get the number one overall. pick, everybody would say it was rigged. for the Sixers. If San Antonio Spurs. would have got it, everybody would have. said it was rigged for the San Antonio. Spurs for WBY in Cooper Flag. I mean, if. the Utah Jazz would have got it, there's. no story lines. just Utah Jazz sucked. last year and they kind of got it. So, I. think we could have made conspiracies. out of everything. The fact that 1.8%.

got it and they were a playin team, wild. to think about the possibilities. Good. luck to all the teams finding what their. potential home is. Now, with that being. said, Giannis is a massive piece of. this. That is why people were thinking. the Dallas Mavericks, maybe trade that. number one pick, get Giannis in there, and if you have Giannis, AD, Kyrie, Clay, what type of team do you have in. Dallas all of a sudden? It's an. expensive one, but let's talk about the. Giannis situation. Go ahead, Ty. Yeah, Rich, with all that happening, where do. you think the most likely landing spot. is for Giannis? Now, the sports books.

still have Milwaukee as the favorite, but it's come out that he'd be. interested in playing in a, you know, no. income tax state. I think that's why a. lot of people maybe made connections, you know, with the Mavericks. But um. considering everything that happened. last night and kind of what we've heard. so far, what do you think the most. likely landing spot for Giannis is? That's a good question. Look, I think um. he's definitely if if what's being. reported is true, he's opened the door.

uh for Milwaukee to look at things. I. think you have to partner with Giannis. given the fact that he did win a. championship there and he signed an. extension. So part of that would be hey. to get me somewhere where I want to go. The likely spots I mean. look it depends right if you're Giannis. he's 30 he has three years left on his. deal with a player option at 628. Um he. already won a championship and so do you. want to go to a team in which you can. now build something that's tailor made.

around you? Um I I imagine he wants to. stay east and then you know it depends. on what timeline he's on, the type of. patience that he has and in that case. then you can look at him standing right. there in Milwaukee if he if he has the. patience to allow them to to kind of. regroup or readjust here. So, look, targets. I don't like to play fantasy. basketball, guys, but you know, there's there's several. teams out there uh that he could be.

traded to with assets that can come. back. I think he would work with the. with the Bucks to try to help them at. least get some talent back, but then. that team also has to have enough to. move forward um on a two-year timeline, I imagine, to be be really competitive. So, you look at teams like the Nets, obviously they have the picks from. Phoenix and Detroit. Um, I mean, I'm. sorry. Yeah, Phoenix and also the. Knicks. You look at Toronto who has. young assets, a big market. He would be.

huge there obviously. Uh, and you have. to believe in in guys like Messiah and. Bobby Webster. And then there's teams, you know, what do you do? I know there. San Antonio. I know there's Houston, but. I don't know from from San Antonio's. perspective age wise and. and you know roster-wise, does it make. sense? Maybe, maybe not. I know people. think Dallas. I just think don't think. they can do it. And so it's not as easy.

as people think. When you have big. names, you think, oh, they could just go. anywhere and anything could be done. There's a lot of complications to these. things. And so, we'll see how it. unfolds. It's exciting for the league, though. And I I I the one thing I will. say is Giannis has done all he's he's. been asked to do. And so if he wants to. leave, great. And I think the Bucks have. done right by him. And so I I don't. think anyone would be at fault. It's. just business. Yeah. It just didn't work. out, right? It just didn't work out. And. maybe a new home, a nice fresh.

beginning. Maybe the Bucks are able to. get some assets. I love the fact you. said, "I don't want to play fantasy. basketball." Because that's what we just. assume you do behind the scenes. Yeah. We assume you're just doing fantasy. basketball all the time. Let's talk. about current basketball taking place, the playoffs. Obviously, Debbut has a. question for you, Rich. Yes, sir. We're. just talking about uh Giannis, the last. two uh MVP finalists, Joker and SGA, haven't really been playing their best. basketball the last few games, but game. five, big game five uh and OKC tonight. Which team do you see bouncing back? And. also, which superstar do you see.

bouncing back and kind of getting back. to form? Oh man, this is a big game. Normally the. guys who win game five win the whole. series. They say that's what statistics. show. I. imagine OKC's at. home. This is a tough one. I do think I. I do think SGA and Jokic play better. than they have played in the series, but. this is why you have great teams. You. have great depth and I think their their. teammates have lifted them up. You've. seen guys like Aaron Gordon make big.

plays. Russ has made big plays on both. ends of the floor. And then you see guys. who hadn't played all series like a. Wiggins come in and make big shots and. you know. Caruso's he does what he does best as. you know he's he's just affects the game. in so many different ways that may not. show up in the stat sheet and. so I don't know it's tough to tell who. wins tonight but I do think the stars. come out to play and it's been it's been. a great playoffs. Yeah I think it has. been a great playoffs and you talk about. the teams and the depth you know not.

just the superstars playing their best. Can we chitchat about LeBron saying on. mind the game about how there's eight. other guys on the court and everybody. attacking him for that? What what do you. think he meant by that? And uh how how. much is it such a team basketball thing. whenever it gets to this stage of the. playoffs? Cuz I think couple stars can. carry you through the regular season. I. think a couple stars can win you a lot. of games. When you get to the playoffs, every team has guys, every team has. stars. Every team has depth. What do you. think about what LeBron said and the. reaction that came from what he said?

Well, I think anytime LeBron says. something is always going to go viral, but it's always been a team thing. Never. It's never been an individual. thing. And if you look at the teams. that's won championships, those have. been really great teams. You can't look. at a team that has won and say, "Oh, they had one great player and so he he. led them and and and they won the game. or they won the series." That's always. been very misleading. And it goes back. to any of the GOAT conversations you. want to have. you got to compare the. goat with their teams and also their.

front offices that help make the. decisions to put the players around. them. And so I think, you know, LeBron's. going to always be criticized whatever. he says. People going to look at it a. certain way, but um I think he's right. I think, you know, and people say, "Well, I'm just being biased obviously. because that's my brother." But but it's. just when you know basketball, you. understand that you have to be able to. go 8 n deep. You have to be able to have. flexibility and be able to change in. terms of matchups. Like you look at this. Cavs Pacer series. I imagine, you know,

I'm looking at it the Pacers have been. benefiting from the Cavs not going. small. You know, I would start Evan at. the five and bring um Hunter at the. four. That way you can you can be able. to match uh with the Pacers and that. speed of the game. And that way Jared. Allen's not exing out trying to close. out on guys like Seakum. getting off to. great starts because again it's very. hard to defend that pace. But if you can. match that pace by adjusting the game. plan a little bit and starting Evan at.

the five and putting DeAndre Hunter at. the four now that gives you another guy. on the floor a spacer and then a and. then a guy that could defend and so it. may slow them down in in their fast. start that could change the series. I. mean, it happened with Igodala uh when. when the Warriors, you know, decided to. go small with him and and move David Lee. to the to the bench that series. And so, you have to be a professional in these. times to understand that things may. change. And so, that goes to having.

depth. You can't do that with just two. stars. Everyone was so gung-ho about. Luca and and and LeBron. I wasn't. I. never thought that that would just mean. that they're going to win the. championship. Names don't win the. championship. Rosters do. would have. been cool though, you know. Would have. been very cool. And I do appreciate that. you're still an Ohio guy. Let's not be. giving any tips to the Cavaliers, okay? Let's not Let's not be giving any But. listen, I I I love Rick Carlile. Rick. Carlile's a hell of a coach. He's been a. hell of a coach everywhere he went. So, it doesn't surprise me the chess match.

in in that series. And that series, obviously, last game was just a blowout, but when you think about it, all these. series are closer than than than you. realize. losing Steph. I mean, the. Warriors just can't it's just hard to. you can't plug somebody in to replace. Steph Curry. That does not happen. Can't. plug three people in to replace Steph. Curry. So, certain things you're not. going to be able to get around. But even. in the Knicks Boston series, I mean, you. seen the stat. Boston the the Knicks has only led 24.

minutes in the entire series. They up. 3-1. 24 minutes. They've led 24 minutes. and 55 seconds to be exact. They've led. in the entire series and they're up. three to one. That's not stars. You get. what I'm saying? And so if you. understand our game and you and you you. know you really live this, you you. understand the importance and people. would say that well the Knicks don't. have any depth. They don't have they. built that roster to compete against the. team they're competing against. And so.

you know I I love the game so I watch. all these games intensely. Um but it's. great. It's great for the league. I'm. excited. Hey, what what is the what is. the Knicks name? What is their for the. Uh but with everything you just said, one of the teams um you know that I. guess was playing with just two stars. that never got it done would be the Suns. where Kevin Durant is. And that's kind. of exactly what the problem with those. teams were was they didn't have any. depth. So that when they got to the. playoffs, they kind of completely. collapsed. And KD is one of those. players this off season with Giannis. that is at that level of one of those. stars. maybe a little older, but still. at a at a supreme star level that's also.

on the block. How do you see that going. with Phoenix? Because obviously it it. feels as though that conversation has. been going on for a pretty long time. with Ishbia and KD in the front office. where KD and them have kind of agreed. that they will work together to get KD. to a specific place. Do you think. Giannis is kind of available for a place. like that and KD uh with with Milwaukee? And then uh for you personally on the. agent side of things, when does this. really start heating up? Like we know.

the draft is pretty soon after the uh. finals are over, but when for agents is. it heating up? Is it now? Like do you. think Giannis's agent is making calls. now figuring stuff out with certain. teams? Is is it till after the season or. when when is that going to happen with. Giannis and some of the teams? And what. about Kevin Durant and the Suns? Well, I think the Kevin Durant Giannis. piece is definitely a no-go. That. doesn't work the timeline for the for. the Bucks and and obviously um Phoenix.

will love that. But I think look, I. think Kevin Durant is Kevin Durant, so. we don't we don't have to spend too much. time there. We we we know who he is and. what he brings to the table. Uh, it's. just about cohesiveness and sometimes. you get to a place where you just don't. have that balance amongst rosters. I. think I talked about it and everyone. kind of went in the uproar when I talked. about the Miami Heat and and what people. thought was a big three and what I. didn't think was a big three. That. wasn't a a knock to Chris Bosch. that.

was actually um tipping my hat and and. respect to Chris Bosch because of the. sacrifice that he had to make to have. cohesiveness uh to win championships. And so uh in Giannis's case though from. an agent perspective, yeah, I think you. sit down with your client and and and. really have the the hard conversation. with them. But you got to understand, guys, most athletes don't like to be the. bad guy. They don't like to make these. type of decisions and they don't like. the fallout that comes behind it. And so.

it's not as easy as people think because. no one wants to get the blame. I'm a. very straightforward, very matterof fact. guy. So if it's time to go, it's time to. go. And you don't have to be um. necessarily uh apologize about it. It's. business. We we've done great business. and and it's time to move forward and. how can we help each other. It's a. conversation that need to be had. Um. everyone does their job differently. Uh. definitely different than me. I know. that for a fact. So, um, it's it's just.

one of those things. But I imagine. Giannis is is has has said what he. really feels and and and I think there's. a world where you do this with the team. that he's currently on and show that. respect if that's what he really wants. to do. And then the work starts now. Yeah, we're at the NBA combine. So, everyone's here. All the uh every team. is here and decision makers are here for. the most part except for the teams that. are are currently playing. And so, um, it's a lot that can be done and and and. can be talked about. And so, these.

things take time, though. It's not as. easy as again as people think. Uh, it. could be something that draft day could. be later on. Um, but just depends. Just. depends. Hey, so here at Draft Combat, I. think Shams is there and he mentioned. the same thing yesterday about how all. the decision makers are there. Shout out. to Shams, by the way. Shout out to. Shams. Just saw Shams, the hardest. working man in the business in your. business. I I like that. I respect that. Uh, in the basketball world, I I think. that that could be in the basketball. world. But. but whenever we talk about what he does. from a basketball standpoint, he. mentioned that draft combine being a big. mingle cuz we have like a tampering. period here at the NFL combine where. everybody comes to Indianapolis and all. the med all the agents are here and. everything like that. I I don't want to. say that's what you're kind of saying. this is right now, but now that the. draft lottery is kind of set, now that. everything's kind of in order, do we.

know everybody that wants to be on the. move? Like we know KD, we know Giannis. potentially, we know the Lakers are. looking for a center at this point. Do. we kind of know what everybody's looking. for? And is that why this is such a good. gathering of the minds in Chicago? Uh, yes and no. I I look, I think that. again, the players, we know which. players want to be move, but we don't. know which team want to move players. And so that's why I think it's at a. disadvantage for players. You know, it's. like the dealer only showing one card. Uh but. ultimately, yes, this this is where, you.

know, look, you can you can have certain. conversations. It's not tampering. It's. just dialogue and you know, there's it's. it's really 20 hours of it. You're in. the gyms, you are in the hotel lobbies, you you're having the meetings and. things of that nature. And so this is. where um if there's a conversation to be. had, this is a great time to have it. You can make the same argument for. summer league at sometimes. You can make. the same argument for, you.

know, final four. Sometimes, you know, wherever you can get close to to to. other uh decision makers, dialogue can. be had from a business perspective. So. it's always combine is always a good. place to be. I love that. I can't wait. to hear what comes from it. We. appreciate you joining us. I can't wait. to see what the internet says. But the. taxing is insane. Now granted, they have.

I'm not 100%. sure who who these all are, but I think. in this conversation he's saying, "Yeah,

I'm here, but I'm about to go do it to. this media here." So, he goes over to. the media in Cincinnati, basically lays. out to the Cincinnati media about how. there's been little to no communication. Feels personal. They can make a. long-term commitment to me. They have. chosen not to. Last year, they said. they're going to do this. They haven't. done it. We're at the same exact. position we've been for months. There's. been no change in this entire thing. How. much of this do you think is a. distraction to the Bengals? How much of. this do you think the Bengals get done? And then what inevitably do you think. happens with Trey Hendrickson who once. again we would like to remind everybody. sack king of the NFL? Jamar and T get.

paid. Obviously Joe is contract is good. They got a new DC new Dline coach. They're trying to figure it out over. there and one of their pillars is. currently in a situation where he's. willing it seems like to do business. with the team and the team just. seemingly not willing to do business. back. What do you think ends up. happening here Dano? And what do you. think is best for the Bengals and for. Trey? Yeah, I don't think it's much of a. distraction. It's middle of May right. now. So, you know, this is a team that's.

got a bunch of really experienced. players. So, I don't find it much of a. distraction. I do know this. If he's not. on the Bengals next year, I don't find. them as real Super Bowl contenders. As. much as I love Joe and Jamar and T and. they can go score with anybody, we got. to remember, not only was he the sack. leader in the NFL last year, he did it. on a defense that was terrible and on a. team that was constantly playing chase. So, you guys know this, like when the. other team is controlling the game. because they're up by two touchdowns, you know, you're not throwing the ball a. ton if you're the opponent because.

you're just trying to make sure that. clock is of your kind of like your. friend. So, I I think the Bengals, I. don't want to say have, you know, ruined. chances because there's a lot of time. till the season, but certainly. mismanaged it. And you have a guy that. has been an absolute star on the field. He's an unbelievable representative off. the field. And if Trey Hendrickson's a. Bengal next year, they're one of those. very small groups of teams that you sit. there and say, "Yeah, they can win the. Super Bowl." If he's not, because you're. not going to replace him in the draft.

this year, and I know they drafted. Shamar Stewart. I just don't see them as. legit contenders. Shamar Stewart holding. out. He actually said, "I decided not to. sign the paperwork as opposed to we. decided not to sign the paperwork." Just. one little word that could have been. phrased differently. We assume that'll. get done because rookie contracts are. what rookie rookie contracts are. His. agent, Zack Hillary, I believe, of LAA. is a go-getter. He's a uh tough. negotiator. Really cool on Instagram, too. Really cool looking on Instagram.

Yeah, he does look cool. Have you seen. him? I wonder if he's wearing way Daniel. Chadi shorts. I wonder if he does that. I got to see my eyes on Dan. We've seen. you wearing them. market is for defensive ends. That's not. his decision. That's everybody else's. Cincinnati could have paid him last. year. They chose not to. They move on. Hopefully Trey gets his money. What. do you think happens at the quarterback. position for the Saints this year? Um surprised, I guess. I was taken aback. that, you know, he ends up retiring. Tyler Shark's going to be their starting. quarterback in my opinion. I think you. want him to be your starting. quarterback. I've seen a lot of people.

have the the thought of, well, you know, they should tank for Arch Manning or, you know, sign Aaron or some things like. that. I just remind everybody like Derek. Cart was a second round pick. Now I'm. not as high on Tyler Shuck as some other. people were coming out of Louisville. Obviously he's played a ton of college. football. He's older. So that should be. a benefit for him. There is talent. there. Derek Carr was a second round. pick. Andy Dalton second round pick. One. of the great quarterbacks in the NFL. right now. Jaylen Herd second round. pick. So it's not like second round.

picks can't become starting quarterbacks. in the NFL. Ellen Moore comes over as. the new head coach. They're really good. on the perimeter. So, I would start. Tyler Shuck and make sure like, hey, we. didn't strike, you know, if you're the. Saints, you want to learn in this year, do you have to get a quarterback. obviously in the the next draft, but um. I wasn't necessarily shocked by the. Derek Par stuff. Obviously, the. reporting around it has been odd. You. know, the whole, you know, last end last. season ends with injury. And I got a. text from somebody the other day that. said, "Hey, not a quarterback, but do.

you really think that Carr didn't have. any idea about the shoulder injury until. recently?" You know, and part of me. goes, "You didn't play catch with your. kids at all?" Like there and you know, I. know he's video yesterday of him playing. catch with his kids. So you didn't do. that at all in, you know, January, February, March. But I also Derek R. comes across as like a pretty truthful. person and not trying to hide stuff. So, um I can't imagine that it's shocking. news to the Saints because of the. situation, but nothing surprises me with.

the league. I assume that he had a. little bit of shoulder soreness. Every. quarterback kind of feels it. I think. everybody that throws anything feels. that. That's why you got to get that uh. the Dan Olowski. The Dan Olowski uh. shoulder fixer thing. Shoulder reliever. Yeah, there it is. A shoulder reliever. So, I assume Derek Carr felt some sort. of discomfort maybe in the offseason as. he was doing things, which is probably. pretty normal, especially for anybody. that does the throwing and then as he. tried to ramp back up. Wait a second. This feels weird. To your point, I don't. think Derek Carr is lying. You know, I. don't I don't think that's something.

Derek Carr, especially at this stage. They said he uh surpassed $200 million. in career earnings at this stage of his. career. Congrats to him in the uh. business of the NFL. Congrats on a great. career, Derek Carr. And uh good luck to. the Saints figuring it all out down. there. New head coach, new operation, new situation. The Saints fan base. obviously deserves greatness. We shall. see if they're able to pull that off in. the NFC South. Now, let's go to another. quarterback situation that's garnering a. lot of conversation. Debut in his uh. Lululemon fit has a question for you.

Another team that's got to figure out uh. their quarterback situation, Cleveland. Cleveland Browns. Obviously, you got Joe. Flacco there, you got Kenny Picket, and. then the two rookies with Dylan Gabriel. and Shador Sanders. How what do you. think how do you see this playing out. for Cleveland throughout the season? What do you think the plan is going. through the season and how do the reps. get broken down from a guy who's been in. the quarterback room for a long time? Yeah, I would do everything I can to. start either Shador Sanders or Dylan. Gabriel this year. Um, I would only. start Joe Flacco or Kenny and probably. Joe if, oh my gosh, this is a disaster.

And if you're Kevin Stfansky and Andrew. Barrow, their head coach and general. manager, you go, "Hey, if one of these. two kids starts, we're going to get. fired if it's that bad throughout the. the preseason." And so I think Joe is. just there certainly for comfort. The. the reps I don't think that and I saw. Kevin and I know you guys talked about. this a little bit yesterday. The reps, you know, like in the off season. specifically in that spring period, reps. really don't matter who you're doing. them with. Cuz Debbot, you know this, you got, you know, the the receiver.

fluctuation of this guy's only going to. take four reps, this guy's going to take. six reps, this offensive lineman may not. practice today. So, like a lot of times. coaches are more trying to put you as. the quarterback in situations with. certain people rather than certain. um number one, number two, number three. on the on the board type of thing. So, sometimes it's like, hey, you know, I. want to see how he performs with the. backup offensive line against the. starting defensive line or I want to see. how he throws the ball to David and.

Jooku or I want to see how him and Jerry. Judy communicate. Stuff like that. So. that's a huge part of it, too. Rather. than what guy runs out there first, one. guy runs out there second. I want to see. him go against the starting secondary, you know, and so there's a lot of that. that goes on with the the quarterback. kind of moving chairs or musical chairs. and and the reps distribution. But if I. was Cleveland and because of the trade. and knowing what 26 looks like for them, at least as we sit here today with the. draft, there's not a ton of benefit for.

me starting Joe Flackle cuz it doesn't. answer anything with the potential of. next year's class and them figuring out. long-term at least what's the situation. So, I would start one of those two. rookies. How do you feel uh from Dylan. Gabriel's standpoint? Do you like where. Dylan Gabriel is? Yo, I really liked. Gabriel. Gabriel was a guy for me. I. remember talking to Field Yates about. Dylan Gabriel maybe like early November. in just sitting there going sneaky guy. that could get into early second round.

And I think what for me kind of cooled. me with Gabriel was the playoff was such. like a poor representation of who he. was. I felt like it just did not go. well. Obviously boat raced by Ohio State. and so that calmed me a little bit on. Dylan, but he's played a ton of. football. He's got a lot of similarities. to a player like Tua, not only left and. whatnot, but you know, the the ball. distribution, the anticipation, the. layering throws over guys. So, you know,

Miami, I honestly thought was maybe an. interesting place for him in that second. or third round, but I don't think. Gabriel is a guy that people should. overlook. He's a really, really talented. thrower. And by all accounts, it seems. like Shador's had a good start. So, I. think one of those guys has got to be. the person that as Cleveland in the next. couple months you go, "Okay, you got to. show me you can't do it." Like, you got. to show me that this would be a disaster. for us to start you or we're going to. start you and see if we've again like. the the Saints, we we got lucky on some. stuff. Dylan drafted two rounds. Let me.

say this last real quickly to end. Sorry. I actually always thought. Cleveland was a significantly better. place for Shadore than Pittsburgh when. it came to their scheme. Okay, so on. that note, let's go to Pittsburgh. AP. Tone has a question for you. Yeah, Dan, I do. Everyone has been very critical of. the quarter or the Steelers and how they. handled the quarterback situation this. off seasonason, probably for good. reason. Um, how would you have handled. it? And now that we got, you know, Big. Ben 2.0 and Will Howard? Uh, does that. put everything to rest? Um, I don't know if it puts everything.

to rest. I think Will's got, you know, a. good chance in Pittsburgh. I would have. started with this, uh, Tone. I would. have said, "Justin Fields, what's the. number?" I would have if if I was going. to obviously Monday morning quarterback, fig not get anybody in the draft early. Justin Fields, what's the number? You're. going to be our starting quarterback for. this year. If it's if it wasn't going to. be Justin Fields, I probably would have. been more aggressive for Jackson Dart in. the draft. That was a guy that I always. thought Pittsburgh Giants made the most.

sense during Cleveland in that. conversation as well. We all know that. there could be the the addition of. Aaron, but it's middle of May and you. know, you have no I mean guys, I'm 41. I. pulled my hamstring playing pickup. basketball in the YMCA. So, obviously. different athlete, much more talented. human being than I am, but his age is. what it is. And he's coming off a little. bit of a beatup season and injury last. year. So, the Pittsburgh, the way I look. at it right now, Tone, is there's no. offense in the league that scares you. less than Pittsburgh. And there's no.

situation. bad ass. I mean, that's just the truth. There's no situation that is more. I guess depressing than Pittsburgh's. right now, man. Worse in a league, Craig. Yikes. Which one is worse? Like, let's if we're. just looking at it on paper, what team. are we sitting offensively and sitting. there going, "That team scares me less. than Pittsburgh does?" Colts. Watch your. mouth. The Colts. We got two. quarterbacks. The Browns. One of the.

best running backs in the league. All. right. They got Caleb Johnson. He's a. dog. Take a snap. Those are going to be. good. What about the Saints? Yeah, Saints. Yeah, Saints. The Saints probably in. that conversation as well, but those two. players on the outside the Saints have. are really, really good players. Really. good players. Love it. How about the. Browns? a little bit of like and again I know. Will Howard was drafted to Pittsburgh. and we'll see what happens with that. But we also know like the Browns have an. offensive line that two years ago was. one of the best in the NFL and Jooku is. one of the best tight ends in the NFL. Stfansky that offense is fantastic. I'm. not saying it's that different but. you're not sitting here going Browns by. far or for sure. No. Okay. So, you say. the Pittsburgh Steelers offense is the. least scary. Is that in Acer or is that. an away game? That's a good point. It's. a good question. Panthers. I don't think.

the location really matters. Oh, yeah. Okay. This guy had no ball. All right. Sweet. Okay. Oh, mama. I'm in my life. from. the long of the right there. OTAAS I would have. You're a. football player. Yeah, you you kick. I. was a bad athlete, so I probably had. tights on to try to minimize the lack of. athleticism or the presentation of it. Um, shorts a little bit, but okay. Um, he pooped out. I would say this for the. Giants. The Giants are, you know, and.

Dable and Shane, their head coach, GM, I. think you probably lean Russell early on. and Russ is just really hoping to make. sure that you guys are winning games, competitive, and that the future of the. organization is that head coach and. general manager. I think Russ can play. good enough. We saw last year like give. you chances to win games, right? Give. you chances to win games and then I. don't really believe that the Giants. should rush Jackson Dart in the least. bit. I said this a little bit about.

Drake May last year and obviously um it. paid dividends for them New England to. play him. There's some flaws in Jackson. Dart's game that reminded me of Drake. May. They're so physically talented. I. call them lazy feet and that could get. you in danger in the league if you play. too early. But if you're the Giants, you're probably thinking sometime like. Thanksgiving World playing Jackson Dart. He's got to learn so much about. quarterbacking the NFL and the huddle. and the cadence. That throw is. absolutely beautiful. He played so good. in that game till the final five.

minutes. Um huddle cadence. Yeah, there. there's the. the p I guess the thought process that. well Jackson Dart would get to the line. of scrimmage and Lane Pippen would tell. him the coverage and the play all the. time and you know that's a negative cuz. he can't think. I actually look at it a. little bit differently if you're well. coached which I would believe he is at. Old Miss. As long as he knows why he's. getting called or why the play is. getting signaled from the sideline. that's all that matters. like you got to.

know what we're getting into and why. You can teach a guy how to get you there. as but you got to make sure he. understands why we're calling those. certain plays. And so I think that that. gives them the great chance to get him a. good understanding of their offense. But. I just wouldn't rush him because some of. the physical flaws, which again were. those lazy feet, um but also just the. the style of offense that he played in. college, you want to get him really. comfortable getting and out of the. huddle and at the line of scrimmage. before you put him in live games. Yeah. and uh you know he had to make a lot of.

big-time throws, you know, so I think. he's very comfortable in making big-time. throws. Obviously, the team was put on. his back on plenty of occasions. He's. able to run. I love his moxy. I love. everything about him. He just didn't. make the playoff and there wasn't a lot. of massive games, you know, whenever you. talk about postseason stuff for him to. play in. So, I think that's why he. slipped in the conversation a little. bit. And then Connor found a stat. Go. ahead. It's something it's I sent it to. the group if you want to pull it up, but. it's some sort of star predictor score. prospect grade SPS and I guess he has.

the highest score ever. And then if if. you want to go in order, it goes Jackson. Dart with 100, and then Lamar 99, Herz. 99, Big Ben 98, Pat Mahomes 96. Yeah, there it is. And I I guess this is some. sort of actors. Yeah, this from. empiredia.com. yet. But the actual thing. I forget where it's from Empire. Media Empire. They made an article on it. So, I I thought he was. going to be a top 10 pick, candidly. I. had a general I told you guys this. I. had a GM text me saying if they had a. top 10 pick and they need a quarterback, they would take Jackson Dart. So, um, you know, I think that I think the. Giants in a really good place with him.

I thought he reminded me a lot of Drake. coming out last year. My favorite. quality is in a quarterback and what do. you do in moments of panic? You know, like that's just the reality of playing. that position in the NFL is like you're. you're going to get into those oh my. goodness moments. And I remember Joe. Burrow coming out of school. I was like, he just does this better than everybody. Jaden Daniels had it last year and I. thought Jackson Dart had it this year. Okay. So, whatever you say probably not. until Thanksgivingish and you rattle off. all the reasons why rookie quarterbacks. could potentially not do well in the.

NFL. Is that because he should watch. Jamus or Russell kind of be a a starter. and the Cleveland Browns don't have that. situation or cuz nobody's really. thinking that the Giants are going to. win a Super Bowl this year either. Well, I I think the the the thought process. for me with the Giants is it starts with. this Pat. If I were the Giants and I. could fast forward to 27 28, I want. Brian Dable to be his head coach. Like I. want Dable to be the guy that grooms. this guy's NFL career. So, you have to.

be you have to win. You have to be. competitive this year if you're Dable. and Joe Shane. And so the likelihood or. unless again he does stuff in camp that. you're like whoa we're he's he's good. like we he's he's going to give he's. going to be able to survive early on. But the likelihood that you can do that. early and win games and be competitive. and confirm that you're the head coach. for next year and beyond is probably. with Russell Wilson more than likely. And so again, unless things happen in. training camp where this guy's running.

the show and he's commanding the huddle. and owning the line of scrimmage and you. think he can handle some of the bunks in. the road early on and get you in and out. of your protections and make the right. decisions and, you know, consistently. play that position at a high level, then. go play him. Yeah. Then go play him. But. I think with the Giants, that's. different from the Browns is I think. once the Browns made that trade, it was. a clear declaration of we're looking. forward at this position to 20126 and we.

want two first round picks for it cuz. that class has the chance to be loaded. like last year's where the Giants have. kind of made the clear declaration when. they take him in the first round of like. we really like this guy. We want the. head coach to be with them, but there's. the reality that they can't go three and. 14. All right, we're on the NFL schedule. release eve here. Sam Darnold, but I've been equally as. high on JJ McCarthy. I think he's carbon. copy made for that offense. His skill. set and what he does well and what he. doesn't. The way he's been trained um. and brought up is perfect for that. offense. I've been a huge fan of. McCarthy's I call JJ McCarthy's first. game in college when he got on the field. his very first game against Western. Michigan and I remember he made a play. and I was like why is this guy not the. starting quarterback today and you saw. his career end at Michigan and then the.

opportunity to play in the preseason a. bit little bit last year. Everyone you. talk to about JJ McCarthy talks about. like the characteristics, the mentality, the mindset, who he is before they ever. talk about what he is on the football. field. He's an ultra athletic dude who's. got a big- time arm. I think he plays. with fantastic feet because of the way. he was coached in college. That's why. he's the perfect fit for what they like. to do in Minnesota. And I think that. Minnesota will have at worst top five.

offensive line in the NFL. We all know. that if their perimeter players are. absolutely sensational, keeping AJ was. big. I think their defense is going to. be even better this year than it was. last year. If their secondary plays just. a little bit better, Minnesota, I. believe, will be right where they were, right where they were as a season team. last year. Tough backto-back. international games. Last night, Edmonton and Oilers smack the Vegas. Golden Knights. Is this the year for. Conor McDavid? Obviously, you've won. three Stanley Cups. You've been a part. of a lot of great teams. Does this. Edmonton Oilers team have the team that. has the capability to go on a run? And. what do you think is different from this. year's Edmonton team versus maybe last. year's Edmonton team? Uh, Edmonton team, Patty, I think where we all question.

where Edmonton lacks right now is. goalending. Were they going to find. goalending to playoffs? We knew that was. a struggle for them the last few. seasons. You know, Colin Picker came in, he played unbelievable. He gets hurt. Now they're going back to Skinner who. just got pulled in in that series. We. all have question marks on him, but he. came out big last night. He played a. heck of a game. The guys played really. good for him. But I think where Edmonton. fares between the last few years, their. depth in scoring, they have four lines. that are deep right now. They can play.

the game, both sides of the puck. They're not just relying on Connor and. Leon to do the dirty work. They're. relying on everyone. Conor's special, right? I mean, he's just a different. animal. And uh is it just he's faster? It seems like when I'm watching, he's. just faster than everybody. He's in 2x. speed than everybody else. Is that what. makes him so special or what is it? Well, I think he's fast, too, but I. think he his hockey IQ is which people. don't forget. Like he thinks the game 1. second, two seconds quicker than what. they're, you know, what everyone else is. thinking, right? So, he's a half a.

second faster than a lot of people that. are making plays right now. And that's. why he's the best player in the world. I. mean, he's doing it at a high pace, too. He's doing it at full speed, which a lot. of people can't do. You know, some. players have to slow the game down, let. the game come to them. He does at a full. pace, and his hockey IQ is off the. charts. He finds ways, but he's thinking. the game one step, you know, further. than the next guy. I think he's great. for hockey cuz even people that don't. know hockey see him on the ice, it's. like, Jesus, what is that thing right. there? He is a buzzsaw. Maybe this is.

the year for them. Go ahead, AJ. Yeah, Pat, I know uh Ovuchkin and the boys. down 3-1 right now. What are the chances. you think that they can find a way to. turn this thing around and win this. series? Oh, man. I mean, Carolina's playing. great. I think we got to give hats off. to Carolina. They sticking their. structure. They're playing great hockey. They're making it really frustrating on. Washington right now, but I think. Washington honestly just needs to get. back to the basics. They have a big. heavy team. They're not the fastest. team, but I think they need to get more. pucks stall. They need to make it.

difficult on their on their D. Carolina's they're not that big back. there. They got to be more physical. You. know, don't let them go 200 feet. It. seems like their breakouts have been way. too easy. So, I mean, it's going to be. difficult. Carolina's playing the best. hockey I've seen them play in the. postseason. But, I think if they just. get back to just the basics and playing. heavy, making it hard for them to go 200. feet so they don't get to their offense, I think they get they'll be fine. But. it's going to be difficult. They need. their big guys, their big guns to step. up and game five's got to be it. I love.

this Capitals team. I love the story of. the year. The Hurricanes were the. favorites going into this series. I. think a lot of us that maybe didn't. watch the entire season were like, "What? What? What?" And then you watch. them do their thing. Great team. Speaking of great teams, let's go down. to potentially the state of hockey. Debbut has a question for you. Yeah. New. hockey town down to Sunrise, Florida. Big Panthers here. And obviously you. went back to back with Tampa. So, you. want to ask you and obviously they're in. the battle right now with Toronto. What's the biggest challenge of going.

back to back in the NHL playoffs? Well, I think just the physicality that. you go through throughout the playoffs. and throughout the regular season, the. guys that get injured, guys are coming. back from injury, they might still be a. little banged up. Um, but I think for. guys, you know, teams that done it like. Pittsburgh and um Tampa, but I think. with Florida, they seems like they're. pretty healthy right now. They got a. better team probably than last year on. paper. You know, they brought some key. guys in. I mean, but Florida just plays.

the right way all the time and it's it's. exhausting for teams and uh they had to. make up for the teams, but I think for. them they just got to continue what. they're doing, but it's going to be. difficult. It's hard to go back to back, but I think if any team can do it, it's. it's the Florida Panthers. Is it the. short off season that you have? Is it. trying to refine the magic? What is it. down there? And obviously, you win three. straight with Tampa, St. Louis, Tampa, Tampa. Obviously, you go on two. different teams able to win three. straight. Is it the short off season? Is. it re trying to find a magic? Is it.

getting lucky health-wise? Is it all the. above? What is it you think? Well, I. think lucky. I think the big thing in. playoff hockey is a luck. You know, you. need goalending one. If you have great. goalending, you have good bounces, but I. think the other part is you got to stay. healthy in the playoffs. If you guys if. you're too banged up and you have your. key guys out of the playoffs that can. help you and kind of, you know, the key. guys that kind of generate your offense. or key guys that are going to change the. game for you, you need that. And I feel. like Florida has that right now. They're.

all healthy right now. It's a good team. They're great coached and uh it's going. to be fun to watch. I think Toronto's. been better this year. They have a. better makeup of a team. They're a. little they have a little more push. back. So, but I think with Florida, man, they're going to be they're going to be. the team to beat right now. Is it is it high tension? Is it more so, you know, motivation for. those guys even though they know what. they have to do? What's that like? Do.

you see those two kind of bouncing back. in these, you know, last few games. because obviously Toronto now it's a. three-game series here? Yeah, I mean they're I mean those two. players are competitors first. You know, they know what's at stake. Uh they. probably know they're not at their best. right now, but I think we all forget the. ice shrinks, especially for Austin. Matthews in the playoffs. It gets harder. and harder each game, each series. The. longer you move on, it's going to get. harder for these guys. But I think for. the mojo in the locker room, I think you.

just got to stick there with them, right? Hey, it's going to be all right. You know, we have all the confidence in. the world. You've been our best player. for the last, you know, few years. You. know, you're going to be there. Your. time's going to break through. You know, and sometimes you just got to work. through those, you know, those things. that you're struggling with. I guess if. he's not getting enough scoring chances, find ways to get to the net, find ways, you know, get on the floor, create a. little more havoc for yourself. So, um, I got full belief in him. You know, he's. a true goal scorer. He's one of the best.

players in the league. He's going to. find time to get out of it. And, uh, I. think the most important Halib, I mean, goalies are streaky, man. Especially in. the playoffs. You never know what you're. going to get out of a goalie. And, uh, it seems to me that he's struggling on. the road. I don't know why. Um, but it. seems like to me, you do a lot of video. I think people forget you do a lot of. video during playoffs, these coaches and. you see their weaknesses and their. tendencies in the pregame. So these guys. take advantage of it. So you know where.

to shoot and all their weaknesses and. when you have a seven game series like. that eventually you're going to keep. wearing it down, keep wearing it down. and finding ways to break down this. goalie. And it seems like guys are. starting to get figure this out. So um. you know it's that's what it seems to. me. you know, these these video coaches. now, these coaches are so dialed in with. this stuff and they find ways to, you. know, you know, find their weaknesses in. these goalies. So, I mean, hopefully he. can bounce back here. He's a heck of a. goalie. He's obviously going to win the. Bezu this year. U but I I just love to.

see him bounce back and kind of get this. playoff mojo like he has the regular. season. So, when a pitcher is throwing. like a perfect game or playing well, nobody talks to him. That's like a. thing. When a kicker is doing his thing, nobody really talks to him. When a. goalie is either struggling or doing. very well, what are the conversations. you guys are having with the goalie? Is. it just kind of like just stay away from. the goalie, let the freak kind of do his. thing? Yeah. I mean, I've never really bothered. a goalie in the playoffs. I kind of just. leave him alone. Especially when he's, you know, he's in the zone, he's feeling. it. You just kind of unless he's talking.

to you, you'll talk. But if he's not. talking, then you just got to say, "Hey, good game. Leave it alone." You know, so. they're they got they're pretty dialed. in. They're pretty zone. You know, goalies have always been weird in the. hockey world. So, they're they're a. bunch of weirdos. So, um pretty isolated. uh position, you know, but just getting. clapped at too the entire day. And uh I. mean Mark Andre Flurry is just seemingly. beloved everywhere. But if you're a.

great goalie, God, the whole hockey. world bends over like they will respect. the out of you. But if you get. cold, Jesus, it is all eyes on this guy. sucks. I mean that is a tough that is a. tough position. I I that is not an easy. like Bob has obviously been he's a dog. Bob's a hero down in Florida. Fans. chanting the name, you know, like when. that happens to Bob. Yeah, it's electric. and I love watching him, you know, do. his his 45 50 minute skate alone just in. his thoughts. I know he does like Tai.

Chi and some other but yeah, they're all the stars all their fans. were chanting Otter's better. Yeah, I. forget who I think. Patrick Wall, I. think back in the day. So when you're when you are on. a a teammate of someone who is that hot, do you still like do you can you find. yourself trying to feed him the puck. more or how do you play when someone's. on a on a role like that? Well, I I think it's tendencies, too. I. think his linemates have he's fit in. pretty well up there with Gremlin and. Roe Hence there. So, it seems like they. they found their they found their. calling there. He found his linemates. I. think Roe Hence, I would say, is like a. 2.0 of Nathan McKennon. Um, so I mean.

he's found it, but I think with Ranton, he's he's a beast. I don't think people. realize how big and strong he is, how. hard it is to take a puck off him, and. the way he can do it at, you know, he. kind of slows the game down and his. patience, his hands, his vision. So. listen, everyone thought he couldn't do. without Mckennon. We all knew he could. It was just a matter of time and where. he could fit in. And we all know. Carolina wasn't the best for him, the. best system, but it seems like he has a. home in a home in Dallas. and what he's.

doing right now. He's a man on a. mission. He's a freak and he's taking. the Dallas Stars and putting him on his. back right now. And it's been fun to. watch. You talk about him being big and. strong. And I think the reason why we. enjoyed following with your success is. because it feels like playoff hockey, you have to be big and fast. Like you. have to be big and fast. If your team's. not big and fast, you're going to get. exposed. Is that an accurate depiction? Is that like a qualifier on whether or. not you're going to win? And do you know. if your team is big enough and fast. enough to win a Stanley Cup whenever you. get in there?

No, that's pretty accurate actually. because like during a long series, a. long seven game series, it's whoever. does it the longest and the hardest and. stays more patient is going to win. And. the more you wear down the opposition, you know, the more exhausting it is for. D to go back for pucks, you know, you. know, for making it so as simple and. then you create more space for your. linemates and then you can kind of. create off the rush. But teams that do. it longer and harder are the teams that. kind of come out with the seven game.

series win. So, and it's just it's. exhausting, too. It's like Florida. They. just rim pucks in, they reload, they're. back in your face, they put it back in, they hit, they reload. I mean, it's at. at times it gets exhausting. You can see. it on their face mentally and physically. that like, man. I don't want to go. back for this puck anymore. It's. exhausting. I think, you know, it's kind. of like playoff football, you know, like. after the, you know, first it's just. like you see these you see these guys. coming at me after the second and third.

It's time you're like, "Fuck, man. I. can't I can't get I can't get this guy. I don't know what the hell's going on.". And it's it gets mentally and physically. exhausting over that time. So, and I I. look at Florida because they remind me. of Tampa and when I played for the Blues. when we won, they're just the same team. They're like they're pests. They're. always in your face. They're like hound. dogs. Speaking of pests, how's Marshy. end up on the Florida Panthers? How How. is that? Is that one of those ones that. surprised everybody in hockey? Like. Connor almost quit being a hockey fan.

Damn near did. Yeah. He like quit cuz. he's a Bruins. He almost just quit. He's. like, "Fuck this." How does our guy end. up going to the Panthers? Especially. with the rivalry that had been brewing. between the Florida Panthers and the. Boston Bruins. And then you add Marshy. and I think Kachchuck said as soon as. they add him to the group chat, he. started chirping everybody. He's fit in. perfectly. Obviously, you've had your. battles, but it's like is that not a. perfect fit for a guy to go to that. team, the Rat go to the Panthers? tend. to feel like a perfect fit for them and. what is he uh considered amongst the. hockey players at at your level? I mean,

listen, he that's the perfect fit. I. mean, you couldn't have found a better. spot for him with Matthew Kachchuck, Bennett. Um there's so many other guys. on that team are just little rats, but. guys that do it the right way. Um, they. have good chirps. They play hard. They're in your face, but they're so. annoying to play against because it's. like they never stop. You know, you turn. around, you think it's over, and then. they keep going. They keep going. And, uh, they they do some sneaky stuff. behind the play. Just fun stuff to, you.

know, keep everyone on your toes. But, you know, with Marshy though, like, man, he's one of the best at in the league. um the way he plays a game for how. skilled he is and for how intense and. he's in your face all the night every. every game every night but most. importantly man like I don't know how he. does it man just like once in a while. I'm like dude just turn your engine off. like this is game 81 you don't need to. be doing the same goddamn thing over and. over again but um but yeah I mean he. finds a way to get it done and uh that's.

why he's an elite player in this league. and that's why he's the most annoying. human being uh in this in NHL. He's. great at it. He was a great Bruin, wasn't he? Yeah, he's one of the goats. He was a great Bruin. Never forget him. Maybe they trade him to the Penguins. Maybe you get out of retirement, go to. the Pittsburgh Penguins as well. They. want to win. We're kind of up. there, dude. I don't like that we. haven't been a part of the conversation. for a while, especially with Sid. How. easy is it to turn a team around?

It's not easy. How many pieces? How many. pieces do you need? How many pieces? How. many years? Yeah, exactly. You need a. goalie, right? Obviously, you need a. goalie that is that Go ahead. Oh, man. I. I with Sid, I think, you know, I think. with them, you know, the core guys are. still there. Malcolm, Latang, and. Crosby. I mean, they're still playing at. an elite level. Obviously, we all saw. what Crosby did this year. He's still. putting up the numbers at 37 years old. So, um I think for them, they have their. core pieces still. I think getting rid.

of Gens will kind of hurt them. So, they. just got to find ways to put some. navigate and put some pieces in that. organization where it's going to fit. and, you know, pawn it off to someone. else. And, uh, I don't know who they're. going to pawn it off to when Crosby's. gone, but and Malin and Latang, but they. got to find ways to put pieces in where. they can continue to have success. We're. not pawn anything off when we need this. to happen. Hazy, we need Hazy. Hazy will. pick it up and run. Hazy does feel like. a guy that's going to be able to do it. Yeah. What a legend. So, um, I think most. importantly when you go on deep runs, yes, you're playing a little extra. harder for the guy that's a little more. banged up than you, but man, it it takes. a lot of sacrifice. And I think at the. end goal, you know, you get to the. pinnacle of your career, just get to the. NHL, but I think at the end of it, you. want to win a Stanley Cup and hoist it.

over your head. So guys will do whatever. it takes to uh to get there and have. that opportunity to do that. So I mean, you know, I've watched guys play with. broken legs, broken, you know, broken. feet, but I mean, it's been like. insane. Pull groins off the groins off. the bone.
