Right now, we are in the middle of. what's going to happen, what could.

happen, and where we are stories in all. different leagues. Now, obviously, the. NBA has a man who's currently a free. agent who's obviously in the greatest of. all time conversation. He's a friend of. the program. He's a man who could. literally pick and choose any team he. wants to play for in the NBA, and he's. uh still trying to figure it out. >> Mhm. >> Where the hell will LeBron James go? This does make. you obviously go uh a little bit of. zipper burn, but this made it feel real. to me when I saw Drake May MVP finalist. last year. Okay, number two in voting. for MVP. Obviously was in the Super. Bowl, took over the world in his first. year in an offensive system. Let's. imagine that's only going to get better.

up there for him in New England. Showcase everything that they thought he. could potentially be. the athleticism, the ability to throw, the pinpoint. accuracy, being able to break down a. defense, his footwork, you name it. This. guy was everything we thought he was. And I'm seeing him report to training. camp. That got me excited. I couldn't. even imagine what it did to you, Con, man. >> Yeah, it breaked up immediately. It's. hard not to be when you you kind of see. these players coming in, cuz you. mentioned it. When it's the rookies, it's like, okay, is this guy going to be. good? Is this guy going to be good? Odds. would tell us probably not. Uh but I. think he is certainly primed and. destined to do something special this. season and for the foreseeable future. Him and McDaniels are only going to. start speaking the same language even. more and more. >> Yeah, he's 23, so he basically is a. rookie. >> Yeah. So Drake May is getting a head. start on camp. He's just going up there. I don't know if he's allowed to be there. with the rookie, but what should we take. here for the first couple weeks? But. everybody's just trying to get. acclimated to the building, acclimated. to each other. What do you expect our.

conversations are going to be like of. not only these rookie camps, but these. first few weeks of training camp? >> Uh, it'd be a lot of stories of us. blowing things up, small things, making. them they need to be, you know, it's. just what we have to do. It's a daily. sports show. You know, there are some. obviously quarterbacks, that's always. the lead of the conversation. We talk. about NFL contracts, there's some. quarterbacks, you know how it is with. teams and quarterbacks and players in. general. Sometimes you have that. deadline. Hey, if we get to training. camp, we won't revisit these contract. talks till after season. Baker Mayfield.

down in Tampa. Uh some quarterback uh. competitions, you know, in uh Cleveland, in Minnesota. So, those will be the. biggest story lines. And then seeing. these, you know, soon as a rookie makes. a play or a rookie drops a ball. Remember Jamar Chase, he can't catch NFL. football. Yeah. Who knows what this uh. story that was true? He figured it out. He figured it out. >> I think he's figured out pretty good. Yeah. Who know? They're paying him a lot. of money over there. He um that was the. greatest. He took a year off obviously. Then he gets drafted really high to. Cincinnati, go back to his college.

quarterback and uh first two days of. training camp, he dropped the ball and. that had every expert out there saying, you know, college ball actually has. stripes on it. That's why uh you can. kind of see it coming. Maybe your depth. reception is a little bit better. Without the stripes, will he know when. the ball's getting air? Apparently not. And also I think he's. getting a chance to like really, you. know, like I think that was one of the. um main draws for him from my convers. I'm not gonna act like I know him. I. talked to him for four minutes, but it. felt five minutes, probably 10 actually. I think we had a drink as well. I had a. drink. I don't know about him having a. drink. I was in a tank top. I was. sweaty. He did feel my sweat, but it did. feel like uh one of the the big draws of. this cuz he would have been able to wait. and go. >> Yeah, >> he would. He was in McVey. He's offense.

coordinator in McVey system. Matthew. Stafford obviously just won an MVP. I'm. not saying he's going to get the Ben. Johnson like he hike, but there will be. future hiring cycles where he will. definitely be uh first one in line. So, I asked him like, I love Scottsdale. I. love Phoenix. We love it. We absolutely. love it. But that doesn't feel like. especially in the West here, >> you know, with what you got going on. I. mean, every team here is really good. thinks that's kind of just like a. chapter that they're trying to get. through in real time as they get to the. next one. So I think it's a lot more. positive out of Arizona after talking to. him. You. cannot rush it. I don't I think he's. earned the right not to be rushed. And. so, um, it's not a it's not a thing.

where you're toying with people's. emotions or trying to make it about. anything more than the fact that, hey, this man has a very important layered. decision to make across business, across. family, across, uh, basketball and, you. know, um, basketball is the business. obviously, but you know, just have to be. patient with them. appreciate him doing that, but also I. appreciate the fact and this was just. like uh when Aaron Rogers was trying to. figure out what the hell he wanted to. do. Uh, what what is that process. like? Connor, I have no idea. You know, I think um if you follow his career, he's always been someone to take care of.

his body and things like that, to put. himself in a position that when and if. he decides to make whatever decision he. decides to make um in terms of his. choice for continue to play or not. continue to play, it's because. he wants to make that choice, not. because he has to make that choice. And. I think as a former athlete, you know, I. know AJ's on the show and I know u uh. Pat's on the show and I'll include. myself in that as a former athlete. myself. >> Not you D but [laughter] [ __ ] up.

And but no, in all. seriousness, I think Pat, when you put. yourself in this position, has there. ever been someone who gets to a place to. where they can honestly decide with full. clarity uh and and and and choosing. whatever they decide whatever they. choose uh as pertains to continuing to. play a sport or where you're going to go. to continue your professional career uh. with full clarity. normally we are.

manipulated by a financial component. Um. um and in this case he's not. So look, I. think like I said to him and I said to. you guys, I've said it on my show. Hopefully you know your audience is. tuning in to the game over show on. Spotify, Netflix, but. >> with myself and Max Kellerman. But I. think that um you know it's a very. unique position to be in and you know. it's something that uh you know I think. again you have to be happy for a guy. who's earned it. I asked him to find.

humility and peace uh while still. playing the game and if he can do that. moving forward. I personally don't like. to think about the end of it because you. know he's got so much left in the tank. But that's his choice. You know, he has. his family and things of that nature. So, but but me personally, I just I. don't like to think about that uh. because he's been so great to us and so. great to the game and and he's meant so. much to the sport. But for now, we don't. know. be a little patient and um he's.

going to choose whenever he chooses and. wherever he goes. Um I'm going to be. ecstatic for him and and and I'm sure. that fan base will as well. >> All right, you're the man. It went in a little. bit too early and then I had to take. more official photos and all got tipped. out later on. But it uh yeah, there has.

been plenty. We finished up about 3:00. a.m. on uh on Monday morning and I had a. car picking me up at 4:15. So nice. >> It's safe to say I didn't have any sleep. before going to the airport and and. heading back home. But um I've even had. my 5-year-old daughter ask me, "Is there. any wine in the clar jug?" So, she gets. it. >> Yeah. Well, over international waters, too. I think you probably, you know, probably could have let it happen. I. mean, you got to do what you got to do. as a as an adult and as a parent. But I. appreciate that there was no uh there. was no guide on how to win a major. So.

this is the trophy. It's mine. Yeah. Give me the [ __ ] I need the uh. [laughter] give me the wine. Please give. me. >> pretty much that's how it works. >> Ryan, no. No, no. That is uh spectacular. I want to let. you know that's very relatable. So is. your swing. Can you please tell me about. this because I assume you've been told. your entire I read your story you didn't. start golfing until you were 18 I. believe and then when you were 24 I.

think is whenever you became pro. You. were going to be a lawyer. Then you get. into golf. Turns out it works out for. you pretty good. But your swing and this. is crazy for me to say cuz uh you are. actually 2,000 times better than me as a. golfer. But everything you do in your. swing is everything that they told me. was wrong in my swing. I don't transfer. my weight from my right foot to my left. foot. I drop my shoulder so I I'm off on. the plane. I swing inside out and I. carry it outside. Everything that you do. emphasize you emphasize it even more.

than I do. You're winning majors with. and I'm being told I need to get off. golf course. Can you tell me a little. bit about your swing? How we got here. and has this always just been your swing. and you've just stuck with it? >> Yeah, look, it's I would say it's always. been my swing. It's all like I do have a. coach, believe me, but it's always been. like function over form. Like if the. body moves right, like I don't really. care what it looks like obviously. Like. it doesn't look great, but the ball goes. where I want it to go most of the time. So um it's I've had a dodgy left ankle.

That's why my left ankle's way flared. out. Um I've got very little rotation. Like I'm an ex- rugby player. I've still. got a rugby player's body basically. like nothing moves how it should move. compared to most of my peers. So, I've. just got to find a way to kind of get it. done. And um yeah, like I've been pretty. lucky in my career so far. I've managed. to escape some injuries. I've obviously. had some pretty incredible moments. Um. you know, capped off by by last week. Um.

and yeah, like hopefully I can keep. doing it for a little while yet. So like. yeah, just go golf is a great game. Like. it doesn't have to be perfect. Just do. whatever works. And yeah, seeing this go. in, this is makes everything worthwhile, too. Like, it's a dream come true. That. >> hell yeah. And watching you was it felt. like a dream come true. I had no idea it. was possible to swing the way you swing. and win. And I appreciate you're saying. I'm a rugby player, man. The body's been. beat to hell here. Okay. It'd be really. nice to be able to do the full fine. This thing would be really cool, but I.

got to figure out you open that left cuz. I had knee surgeries, right? So, the the. the rotation here, not great. So, I've. been told, yeah, open up that front. you. kind of got the the rotation happening. already to go win a major like that is. just unbelievable the amount of mental. toughness. Let's just get the job done. here. What are we doing? And the way you. go about doing it, I heard you speak a. little bit about how your brain's wired. for golf and if you didn't operate in a. particular way, you wouldn't be worth a. something. Ty has a question for you. >> Yeah, Ryan, a lot of people were talking. about your pace of play kind of capped. off with, you know, the biggest moment.

of your career. You just step up and. knock that putt down without really even. thinking about it. But I also saw a. quote. I think you were playing with. Scotty and maybe someone else last year. and Scotty said something to the effect. of like, "Hey Ryan, it feels like we're. playing in a twosome right now, not a. threesome cuz you just your ass just. gets up there and hits the ball. We. don't even see you." Have you always. played like that? Because it seems like. that is one reason a lot of people maybe. get on certain golfers on tour's case. because there's all the waggles. They. take so much time to hit. Like it's.

really refreshing seeing that you kind. of treated the open championship like. you were just playing 18 at a local MUN. on Sunday. >> Yeah. Look, um I mean first like that. putt if you look that put I hit on 18. Like I've done all my work reading the. putt before it was my turn to actually. hit the putt. Like I'm ready to go. Like. I I I know which way it's going to go. So like my decisions made. It's just go. up and do my routine. My routine's. quick. I think like everything in my.

head works fast. Um like I see the shot. fast, I make a decision fast, like my. routine's fast. I'm glad I kept that. same thing, you know, with a chance to. win the major. Um that's, you know, it. would have been really easy to get out. of that routine and that's what I've. done my whole career. And I think the. reason I probably started it like when I. first started playing golf when I was a. kid with my dad like I'd have clubs in. the backyard and whatever but the first. time I go to a golf course dad's playing. like corporate days and charity days and.

stuff like that back in New Zealand and. you know he's got his eight 10year-old. tagging along and wanting to play. Um. but you know I'm playing with the big. boys at the time like I just want to get. out of their way. Like I don't want to. annoy anyone. I just I'm just real. chuffed to be there and like hey just. let me let me play. I'll play real. quick. I won't, you know, I won't annoy. any of you. And that's just kind of. stayed the same way, I think, the whole. way through. >> I like that your style of play is Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. >> Yep. Sorry. >> Sorry.

Especially when. you get on T-Box about to win a damn. major, you know, and they're like, "Let's get he he might [ __ ] hit it. before we get back through the. playthrough thing." >> Yeah. >> They've really gimmicked that a bit. >> Oh, yeah. Used to be commercial free. Last the last two hours. >> Pretty good idea, though. Whenever you. got this legend [laughter]. >> bombing balls, you just mentioned uh. having a chuff out there with uh with. your dad. Legend. We just looked up his. highlights. This guy could boot balls. I. mean, he was a rugby stud back there. Did he do the uh because we know the rug. the All Blacks uh the haka and was he a. part of all that? And he had like a. lustrous career now. This guy one of the. best of they're saying like one of the.

best ever kickers in the history of New. Zealand rugby or something. >> One of the greatest fly halves of all. time. >> What is it? What do they. >> fly? >> Oh, a fly half. >> One of the greatest fly halves of all. time. He holds multiple world records. still in the Rugby Cup. Uh, but speaking. of your father, Ryan, because of that. and how successful he was and just like. kind of growing up as the son of a great. rugby player and then choosing golf, what was that first conversation like. with your father after winning? Cuz I. assume that was kind of a weight almost.

lifted off your shoulders, winning a. major championship. >> Yeah, look, I I had I think you probably. saw the conversation in the in the. little room afterwards, the holding room. or whatever it was. Um, I got to call my. my wife and kids and also got to call. mom and dad. And I think dad, um, he was. pretty lost for words, which doesn't. happen very much for him. Um, to be. honest, like I think he would have been. a nervous wreck. Like he's he's a guy he. was always renowned as cool and calm. under pressure. Like obviously goal. kicking to try to win games and stuff.

like that, you have to be able to deal. with pressure. But when he wasn't in. control, he's he's pretty pretty. terrible with stuff. So, I imagine he. was pacing around the the living room. just not knowing what to think coming. down the um those last few holes there. So, I I kind of would have liked to been. a fly on the wall and see how that. played out at at home back in New. Zealand. But yeah, look, he gave up a. lot. He used to caddy for me when I was. playing am golf. He caddy for me even a. bit into my professional career. Like he. he was always there like there was never.

any pressure to carry on in his. footsteps, play rugby or anything like. that. So, I'm looking forward to taking. this little trophy home behind me and. and sharing a little little drink out of. it with him. Um, you know, it was a. tradition in rugby. There's something. called the Bleders Low Cup, New Zealand. vers Australia. Apparently, it fits 42. beers in it, >> apparently. Apparently. [laughter]. >> So, you know, that that was that was. always a tradition for them to to drink. beers out of the Blow Cup if you win the. BLO Cup. Um, and I've been lucky enough. to do it with the current All Black team. last year in back in New Zealand. So,

um, yeah, I think it's tradition to. drink something out of the clar jug and. it's probably should be clar to be. honest. >> Apparent [laughter] up the clar. Um, apparently there is how many wine. glasses in the clar. >> I don't know. >> Oh, we haven't found out yet. Oh, we. haven't found out yet. >> I know. will certainly find out someday. Okay, let's talk back about uh talk about. winning that thing. Go ahead, DBud. >> Yeah, Ron, I just want to know what. changed uh going into the weekend. You're tied at 52nd going into the. weekend and then obviously you sued a 62. on Saturday and then Sunday you birdie. four your last six including a big one. on 18 to avoid the playoffs. So, what. changed between ears mentally for you. when you went out to that course on. Saturday? >> You nailed You nailed that, Dud. >> Honestly, not on not that much. I felt. like I played really good on Thursday. and um you know I just puted like a.

donkey to be honest. I was awful on the. greens on Thursday and then I had a. really good patch through the middle of. the round on Friday um and felt like I. was playing really good. You know I was. 400 for the round on Friday and made a. couple of bogeies coming home but made. the cut and like the conditions are a. lot more scorable early on. I kind of. felt like a Saturday if I can get out. early and shoot a score like I've got a. chance of having a decent week. Didn't. quite think I'd shoot 62. um you getting. a play with Xander as well. Like that. was just a day where everything went in.

Um I hit everything where I wanted to. and I didn't hit a very good putt for 61. here, but um yeah, I was probably a bit. nervous over that part, too. To be. honest, knowing there was a little bit. of history involved to to have a chance. of shooting the best score in major. history. And then Sunday, I just kind of. kept those same feelings going. And I'm. not sure how. mentally I managed it on Sunday. Like I. look back on it now and it feels really. scary and intimidating, but. >> yeah, >> in the actual. >> being in the actual position, I felt in.

control. I felt like my game was good. and like I hold everything down the. stretch. Like it's. >> golf's a funny game. Like with all the. nerves, putting is almost the hardest. thing. And I just felt really. comfortable at that point. And like I. I've seen the last hole now you guys are. playing like this is the best hole I. could potentially ever play in golf. like it was three perfect shots right. there with a chance to win a major. championship. Like I I I would never. have dreamed of being able to do that or. having the mental strength to be able to. do it. >> Hey, by the way, congratulations on.

finding out that you can do it. >> That's a cool thing to learn. Hey, that's a cool thing to learn about. yourself. I think you know it and I was. a kicker punter um in college and then. in the NFL just a punter and you know a. lot of eyes, a lot of pressure moment. If you mess up, everybody's going to. know it's you. And nowhere near the. amount of reps that you guys have, but. there is like a certain like I think I'm. ready for the moment. I think so, you. know, and then you get into it. Like I. was punting in the Super Bowl. I didn't. know how to punt and Reggie Bush was the. returner. So that was like a fun thing. >> Yeah,

>> that was a fun thing. Yeah. Yeah. But. that was like a fun thing for me to like. get through. It's like, all right, you. had to go out there and do your job. You. did your job and they're blaming a lot. of people for this Super Bowl loss and. you're not one of them, so let's just go. ahead and move forward. That was a big. deal for me. felt like a big weight off. my shoulders. For you, I assume the same. thing for you. Immediately afterwards, it's like I knew I put in a lot of work. for this moment. I didn't know if I was. going to be able to do it. I did it. Hell yeah. Me, first of all, but also. the rest of your life now a little bit. different because you got the, you know, kind of the monkey off your back. Uh,

metaphorically, if that makes sense. >> Yeah. Look, I think I've achieved more. than I probably ever thought I could. achieve when I turned pro in the end of. 2011. like I've had a great career. Even. before winning last week, I would I. would have taken it. And then this is. just like beyond my wildest dreams. So. like yeah, now I've got a I've got a bit. to think about like where do I go from. here? Like try to refocus. I' obviously. want to keep playing for longer. There's. some other stuff that I'd like to.

achieve like getting in the President's. Cup team was a big goal. I think I. probably should be okay for that later. in the year now. >> Um like. >> we're going to beat your ass. But yes, [laughter]. >> I hope not, but I'll be trying my best. to make sure that doesn't happen. >> No, no, the guys are actually going to. fight you. We're actually going to fight. this year. And your old I' I'd back. myself in a fight. I reckon I go okay in. a fight. >> No, your [laughter] old No, your old. rugby ass can't take it anymore. We've. seen those hips, pal. Obviously, you as an international player who's. played on all three of these tours. I. was just thinking, how big is this for. international players and like. international kids who are trying to. come up, make the PGA Tour, and and play. in majors like you have? >> Look, I I've only just seen the news. this morning. Um, obviously, you know, I've got a few other things going on, too, but that's that's huge for golf, I.

think. Um, you know, I have played on. all three tours, which is pretty pretty. amazing. Um, you know, and being an. international, like there is golf is big. outside America. I know golf's big in. America, but. >> really it exists out there. >> It it does. It It really does. Like. there is a lot of good players from. around the world. Um, and they have that. pathway now from from the Asian tour is. is amazing. And I think it's just it's. it's going to be great for golf going. forward to have to have the tours.

This is. how I play." And then he learned in real. time in the biggest moment of his life,

"Will he stick to it?" And he did. And. he drains it. It's like that had to be. such a freeing moment for Ryan Fox who. had question marks probably no matter. how much success he's had. And it's. like, I'm very happy for that guy. And. that feels like the normal thing where. it's like kind of a golfer that you're. not really aware of that hasn't won a. major yet where down the stretch they. melt. Like Da mentioned it. He hit bogey. on uh 15. I mean he put the thing into. the sandbox and all of a sudden it's. like okay here we go. Ryan Fox is going. to melt bogeies and then comes back with. a birdie par birdie to finish. And those.

last three shots he even said it like to. hit three perfect shots back to back to. back to win a major. I assume that is. basically what you dream of as a golfer. growing up. And for him to be a guy that. started really at 18 makes it even more. special. >> Yeah. He uh he's going to be a lawyer. >> Yeah. And it's only him like who Well, obviously his family is probably close. friends. Who can even like realistically. imagine some [ __ ] like that actually. happen? Like Rory, Scotty, you know, Bryson, all these guys, you know, were. phenoms when they were 12, 13. So it's.

like, okay, at some point this guy's. going to be the guy, the face of golf. That was never kind of a reality for him. until it actually happened at 39. That's. insane. >> I hope he I hope he continues to go. >> Yeah. >> And I think he will because I think but. he he even said it in there. I I got to. figure out how to get refocused on the. uh the I don't want to say John Deere. because if John Deere's involved it's a. big deal, >> but the Rocket super duper classic next. week somewhere. For instance, Michigan AD stepping down. at the end of the year, that comes. through SEC media days. college football. separating into a super league away from. the NCAA is a is a posit. You said it. was it was a possibility or something. like that. It felt like you were more. positive about it than we thought would. ever potentially be real. Is there a. chance for a Super League that of. college football that breaks away from. the NCAA rulers? And uh why would that.

happen and when would that happen, Miss. Heather? >> Okay, let's let's hit the reset button. for a second. Not Super League. What. we're talking about here is the SEC. specifically separating from the NCAA. Here's why. Because if they don't get. federal legislation, university. presidents and chancellors and SEC. Commissioner Greg Seni in this league. are saying we need to create our own. rules. What does that mean? What does. that look like? Well, not just football, Pat, but you could be seeing SEC.

softball and baseball and basketball all. just playing each other in an SEC. centric league. Why? Because part of it. is, well, you can say, hey, football, you have $40 million for your roster. Softball, you have 10 million or. whatever it is for your rosters, right? So, everyone is playing with the same. rules, the same salary caps, and the. same just playing by the same rules, right? But Greg Seni said that that's. not the preference. And I want to go.

back to your Super League question. Big. 10 Commissioner Tony Patiti and Greg. Seni have both said publicly that no one. is talking about a Super League. What we. are talking about, what SEC is talking. about is them separating from the NCAA. only if they don't get federal. legislation to help anti antirust with. protection for the NCAA. So, I'll stop. there. What What else do you have for. me? Yeah. >> Okay. So, everybody wants the NCAA to be.

able to rule. They want somebody a. ruling party of some sort is what. everybody seemingly wants. But then we. read the Protect College Sports Act. And. then there's a bunch of things in there. that allegedly nobody in sport knew. about that I guess politicians snuck in. at the last second or something like. that. Classic Washington DC. The the. Protect College Sports Act, which I. think is a an offspring of the SCORE. Act, I believe. Hey, I don't want to get. too deep into it all, but then there's. uh all that type of stuff happening. We. need something to pass. Everybody agrees. that we need something to pass, but.

nobody can agree on all the other [ __ ]. that's going around it. So, will. anything ever pass is kind of the. question that I'm asking. And Sanki and. Petiti saying, "We're not talking about. Super League. We're just talking about. leaving the NCAA independently, right?". It's like, so then then you wouldn't. >> and then if you guys plucked a couple. teams from Big 12 and from ACC, >> that wouldn't be a super league. >> Kind of the definition of a super. league. >> Yeah. And it's a now or never deal right now. because if they can't find a compromise. and get this done, the Senate's out of. session in August yet the senators fly. home and then you're in an election. year. And I promise you, the new. senators who are coming into their new. office and the first day of work, the. last thing they want to do is fix. college athletics. And so if this. doesn't happen now, and if it doesn't. get to the Senate floor for a vote this. month, I personally will be shocked if. it ever happens. But Pat, you got to.

look at the Big 12 and Texas Tech and. Brendan Sorsby as an example for the. possibility. Texas Tech, the NCAA. reached a new low because they couldn't. even enforce their own gambling laws, right? So the Big 12 said, "Hey, we're. going to file this lawsuit. We have our. own laws and we should have the right to. enforce them. You can't gamble in our. league and play football, right? So, to. me, that was a big example of how.

conferences can try to regulate. themselves. That's not going to end all. litigation. There's lawsuits left and. right all over the place, but people in. college athletics are sick of this. They. are tired of not being able to enforce. rules, including the very basic rule of. you can't gamble in college sports, especially on your own team. >> It's also interesting because I guess if. the conferences just kind of take their. own control. >> Yeah. >> Then what is the NCAA? And then what. rules are in and what rules aren't in? And what does the SEC get to do that the.

Big 10 won't agree to? Or what will the. Big 12 do that maybe somebody else can't. do? I I mean, come on. I don't like you. painting a picture of and then they go. on recess where they don't do anything. I don't know if they do anything on a. daily basis, but then they actually. Yeah, they go uh monkey bars. They get. some chocolate milk and they get their. crayons out and they do that entire. thing. >> And then Oh, yeah. We got then we got an. election year coming up. We got trades. coming and I think you just put out a. list of predictions of potentially. what's going to happen before the trade. deadline, which is right around the. corner. Who are the big names? What. should we know, Jet? Where are we at in.

baseball world right now, brother? It's such an interesting and fascinating. time right now, Pat, because typically, you know, games around this time of. year, they matter, but there's not a ton. of urgency to them. You you sort of save. that for September. This almost feels. like a pennant race before a pennant. race because when you look at the. standings, there are so many teams right. now that actually do not know what. they're doing. Only three teams, the.

Colorado Rockies, the New York Mets, and. the San Francisco Giants have told other. teams, "We're selling." Like, "We're. going to get rid of guys. It's going to. happen. So, start getting bids in and. let's get these conversations. percolating." But. especially in the American League, I. mean, you look at that right now and the. compactness of the standings makes it. such that a team like Detroit that's six. games under 500 is only four and a half. games back in the final wild card. And I. know the Boston Red Sox are playing. great baseball right now, but at least.

the Tigers are in it enough so that. they're not selling TK Scubble and Casey. Mai and they're going to wait. So these. next 7 to 10 days are going to be. integral in determining what this trade. deadline looks like because there's an. opportunity for it to be really. fascinating with some big names being. moved. But it all depends on what. happens in the games on the field over. the next week and change. >> You talked about the Red Sox a little. bit there. They don't even have the big. pison swinging it. They're doing some. historic stuff. Connor has a question.

for you. >> Yeah, Jet. No Roman, no Crochet and. still we're going for 15 straight. tonight. Is this situation insane? And. you know, Ranger Suarez is coming back. tonight to get the start off the IIL. Uh. what is the situation for the Socks? Are. they going to try and bring in a player? I know James Wood has been getting. floated around, but should they not. bring anybody in to mess up with the. mojo or what is kind of the Red Sox. plan? Connor, when you can add talent, you add talent. Mojo can absorb it if. that mojo is real. And while I don't.

think James Wood is a particularly. realistic option, the Nationals know. they have a superstar there. They are. not going to get rid of him. There are. some others out there, at least names. being tossed around that would make a. lot of sense for the Red Sox. And. shortstop is a position, I think, of. import to them and of focus to them. and. we added a new name, guys, to that top. 100 trade candidate list. And number six. is Zach Neto from the Los Angeles. Angels. Now, I don't know if it's going.

to be specifically Neto. There's an. opportunity to go out and potentially. get Jeremy Pñena from the Houston. Astros. Uh, and even C.J. Abrams, who's. had a great year, but probably not a. short stop long-term, uh, could be had. as well. And I think the Red Sox are. going to try and be aggressive, and I. don't blame them. When you win 14 games. in a row like this, when you rescue your. season from the depths in the doldrums. where they were for the first, you know, 80s something games, uh, you just have.

the day AJ Prowler who's one of the most. prolific traders of all executives in. baseball is going to flip him just a. year after acquiring him for Lao Dere. who's one of the best prospects in. baseball. Not necessarily. But the. Padres's need, it's not prospects. The. Poders need major league ready starting. pitching. And if you're a team like the. Seattle Mariners that has a deep. rotation already and in Ryan Sloden, Kate Anderson, two of the best pitching. prospects in baseball on the cusp of. being ready for the big leagues. It's.

something you have to consider. If. you're the Yankees and you can pair him. with David Bednar, uh, and Tim Hill and. Brett Hedrickk at the back end of the. bullpen, Fernando Cruz, it makes you. just so much better and so much deeper. And Mason Miller is the most dominant. player in baseball at his sport or at. his field. If the ninth inning comes. around and Mason Miller is coming in, you pretty much know that the game is. over. 75 strikeouts in 40 innings and. 089 RA. Like he is a dude. And you know,

him moving would help make what could be. a boring deadline a whole lot more. exciting. And if he and Scoo are both. moving, then we got a fascinating couple. weeks ahead. >> Feels like he's way too good to be a. Pittsburgh Pirate, but we're in a new. Pittsburgh Pirate world. That's right. >> I like I like watching great people do. great things. I enjoy it. I can sit. back. I watch documentaries about great. folks, how they got there, their. mindset, what they did through their. triumph, and also their testimony of. everything they kind of went through. And the thought of watching the Los. Angeles. Harlem Globe trotting Rams play football. this year is exciting to me. I know.

everybody doesn't love that, but Aaron. Donald, Miles Garrett alongside the rest. of that defense that is loaded. Okay, the defense is absolutely loaded. And. then the offense is what they are very. exciting for me. Your thoughts on Aaron. Donald at this standpoint uh being an. actual Ram this year and have you backed. off the limited snap thing that you said. last week? Well, what's going on right now is that. he's trying to get back in football. shape. My understanding is it's going to. be a while before we hear a final.

decision about him coming back. Like. when he comes back, he's going to want. to be Aaron Donald and he's not going to. come back unless he feels like he's. Aaron Donald. And that's why it sounds. like it's not going to be a quick. verdict from him that he's going to be. ramping up all during training camp and. this may go towards the start of the. regular season before we hear he that he. has or hasn't signed with the team. Like. he's going through it all right now. This is his own. pre-training camp routine. And so I I I.

mean you're telling me you think he's. going to play 100% of the snaps if when. he's out there? I I don't know that he's. going to do that, but he wants to be. Aaron Donald or he's not going to come. back. So, if he's going to be Aaron. Donald when he comes back, he'll. probably be used a decent amount. I. don't know that he'll be full-time. I. would think that they still would be. smart with him. >> I think he's full time. Now, does he end. up uh making it a full season? I don't. know that I think they'll probably. calculate that in whenever they're. talking to him. Like, is he going to be. able to play a full season? Are we going. to have some sort of something pop up?

Probably if we had to guess. Two years. out with how long the season is, there's. a chance that something's going to come. back. But I think it's going to be hard. to tell Aaron Donald get off the field. >> They got that chamber out there, too. Forget. >> Oh, I forgot about the trailer. >> Yeah. There's obviously a quarterback's. itch brewing. Go ahead, Con. >> Yeah, Shifty Baker Mayfield is who Pat's. talking about. What's the status with. that contract and then their other big. time player on the other side of the. ball, Vea. I know those were the two. guys Tampa was kind of zeroing in on. Are we going to get extensions for them.

before camp starts? I before camp starts, I think maybe a. bit ambitious right now, but the. Buccaneers have been a team that. typically has gotten deals done once. camp is underway a little bit into it. Now, Baker Mayfield said that he wants. the deal done by the time training camp. starts or he's essentially tableabling. negotiations as he enters the last year. of his contract. But I guess what I. would say to that is that like I said, Tampa history has been to do deals.

during camp, not at the start of camp. And I think it's going to be easy for. the Buccaneers and Baker to say at that. point in time, we started talking. We're. going to continue talking and we're. going to continue to try to get this. done. And I think that they figure out a. way to get it done because both sides. want to make it happen. It shouldn't be. a difficult deal to do. I think about. $50 million a year. That that's my. projection for where a potential Baker. Mayfield deal could come in. Maybe not. as much as he wants, maybe more than the. Bucks would be wanting to pay, but.

there's a compromise in there for both. sides that I think would like to work. out a deal. >> Pumped about Baker Mayfield earning that. at this stage of the career, especially. with everything he's been through.
