The Pat McAfee Show Live | Monday September 14th 2026
Hey, hey, hey. You make me want you. Put my hands up. Keep my hands up. again now.
USA,
USA, USA. Come on in. Yeah.
A. up.
The following program is a collection of. students talking about happenings in the. sports world. It is meant to be comedic, informative. The opinions expressed on. this show do not necessarily reflect the.
beliefs of their peers, their boss, or. ESPN. There may be some cuss words. because that's how humans in the real. world talk. If you are a young, please. seek permission before watching any. further. >> Hey, let's go. This show sticks and the fact that you. listen, we are very, very thankful. >> McAfee on the line with a gorgeous. assist. >> The alltime leading tackler for the.
Green Bay Packers. You pick. >> damn it. >> Your friend, tell a friend something. nice could change their life. sports. >> Hello, beautiful people, and welcome to. the most glorious day of them all. Over. reaction Monday, September 14th, 2026. This sports program begins now. FOOTBALL.
IS THE greatest sport of all time. In. week one, NFL Sunday provided something. that maybe the NFL hasn't seen since. 1970. There is a chance that we are just. 43 points away for tonight's game for. having the all-time highest scoring NFL. opening weekend in history. Offenses are. dancing all over fields. Highlights are. in abundance. And there's a chance that. your team could be the most explosive. team in the history of the NFL. There's. also a chance that your TEAM GOT DUNKED. ON YESTERDAY. There's a couple teams.
that people think are already dead. There's a couple teams that were already. crowning as the greatest. And that's. overreaction Monday in a nutshell. College football delivered. the NFL. delivered. And tonight on Monday Night. Football, Patrick Mahomes, fresh off an. ACL where he was not supposed to return. this fast, does some superhuman stuff. and will lead the Kansas City Chiefs on. the field to take on the Denver Broncos, who obviously had a run last year with. uh Shawn Peyton in his second year with. Bo Knicks. Remember Shawn Peyton when he.
drafted Bo Knicks, he came on our. program, the draft spectacular, and he. said it was love at first meet with Bo. Knicks. Whenever they were doing their. draft scouting and draft process, they. went and took a visit with him. As soon. as Bo Knicks got in the car, Shawn. Payeyton fell in love. All they did was. chitchat for about 24 hours and. immediately after that, Shawn Peyton. knew this was going to be the next guy. that he wanted to lead his franchise. He. had been given the keys to the Denver. Broncos. This guy's going to be the guy. A lot of football at Auburn, people. remember him not playing great. A lot of.
football at Oregon, he was unbelievable. And with the Denver Broncos, all he's. done is continue to get better and. better. Is this going to be the first. time though that the Denver Broncos beat. Patrick Mahomes in this stadium tonight? Or will the Kansas City Chiefs. potentially on a little bit of a. redemption and a revenge tour after. being ass last year? Maybe they lead off. another Super Bowl year and continue to. build on this dynasty that is. remarkable. Now I am very lucky to be in. the foolish lounge. Okay, that's the. name. The foolish lot of wood. Got a lot.
of wood around me. I I believe it is. mahogany if I had to guess. And then. behind me, obviously, it's the home. of the. >> So lucky to be here. So thankful to be. here. AJ, thank you for traveling into. the Thunderdome. Obviously, 9-year NFL. vet, Darius J. Butler, back in the. Thunderdome as well. The boys from the. toxic table at Boston Connor and at Ty. Schmidt. Uh oh, Ty. >> Yikes. Yeah,
>> there's some teams that are thinking. maybe they're going to win the Super. Bowl and then Ty, there's some teams. that think their team might be absolute. ass for three quarters. Your team was. fantastic. And then for a fourth. quarter, it was a complete meltdown from. a veteran team. That's a veteran. quarterback. That coach been there a. long time. They got their roster. They. completely collapsed. I don't want you. to give your full Green Bay Packers take. right now. Just one word answer. Are you. guys dead or are you guys uh okay? life. support with a hyphen. So that's.
technically two, but I'm just that that. was bad. Not the way you want to start. the season at all. >> One one bad quarter and have you feeling. it's over. Let's go to one half of the. hammer. >> Cowboys AP tone tone cowboy hat looks. good. Looks like you potentially got a. little zipper burn too Pittsburgh. Steelers. >> able to get a big time win over uh. Cooper Kush and the Atlanta Falcons. Now. tell me a little bit about TJ Watt maybe. being the guy for the team this year. Maybe the veteran defense is great. Aaron Rogers gets a big time dub with.
Mike McCarthy. Just first reaction as. we're not going to talk a lot about this. game, even though we potentially should. Uh, how does Steelers fans feel after. the first game in a Mike McCarthy era? >> Yeah, it was a new era with coach. McCarthy, but it kind of felt like the. same product on the field to be honest. with you. The offense had their. struggles. They were a bit sloppy even. though Aaron and Big Mike have had so. much time together. Aaron played well. There was some drops and stuff like. that. So, I feel good about that side, but it was kind of like TJ's like, "This. is classic. Oh, I'm gonna take this game. over. I'm gonna sack Cooper Rush. I'm. gonna pick off Cooper Rush. I'm gonna.
score touchdowns. Their offense was. horrendous. The defense looked good. I. feel like it's a really good thing to. get uh started off right under with a. with a W and then you can fix things. coming into week two. We feel pretty. good going into week two. I think. >> I'm happy you feel pretty good. You know. what I feel pretty good about, Debb? I. feel pretty good that we're back in the. top five, top five, top five time of. this overreaction Monday. Storylines in. abundance. D but we had a chance to have. eyes on a game yesterday and there's a. chance that it's going to make an. appearance. But let's start with number.
five. The Bears might actually be the. best offense ever. Now Ben Johnson comes. in to the offseason and he says, "Uh, hey, listen. We want to have the highest. scoring offense in NFL history." Okay, this is I know you guys got the greatest. show on turf. I know the Miami Dolphins. a couple years ago hung 70 on the Denver. Broncos somehow. Will we see that here. tonight in Kansas City? Who knows? there's a chance anything could happen, especially with the way points are being. scored. But then they go down to. Carolina and Caleb Williams is under. center. Caleb Williams is going through.
the offense. Caleb Williams after the. game would go on to say, "This is the. worst we're going to be all season. He's. making plays with his arms, with his. legs, and it looks like Ben Johnson's. offense is fully in there." Debb, the. Chicago Bears, who you've been a. believer in for a long, long time, seemingly are their best version yet. Can their defense stop anybody though? Panthers score 37 against them as Roma. conquers the Roman Empire with one of. the greatest catches we've seen in a. week one. Debb. >> Yeah, that will certainly be what we'll. be keeping our eyes on is that defense. That was a conversation coming into the.
year about the Bears. Could their. defense repeat with the turnovers. But. look, this headline is all about the. offense and boy did they put up the. points. They were one half of the uh. matchup that led to the highest scoring. week one matchup in NFL history. Yeah, Ben Johnson. You rarely hear a head. coach say, "Hey, I don't just want a. Super Bowl." Usually that is the. pinnacle. That's what everybody wants, that Lombardi trophy. But he made it. clear. I don't want just a Super Bowl. I. want records. I want to put up points. And boy, did they start off right. Yes, I've been a big fan of this marriage, Ben Johnson, Caleb Williams. But it all.
starts with that run game with Ben. Johnson. Six rushing touchdowns. Caleb. was dynamic in the air obviously, but he. also looks fast as hell when he tucks. that ball and run. So, I'm excited about. this Bears offense. >> Yeah, you see that Hembo stat right. there, Debb. The Bears six rushing. touchdowns are their most in any game. since 1941. Wow. And they're the first. team with six rushing touchdowns in a. season opener since the 1922 Canton. Bulldogs, which we know. >> they were Canton Bull. in the ground and pound world. Uh AJ.
Hawk, are is anybody going to be able to. stop the Bears, pal? I know the NFC. North is certainly looking spectacular. early and we're going to certainly have. to hit on the Carson Wentz experience. happening in Minnesota, which I guess we. should have predicted all along, but. Caleb and Ben getting together. Caleb. was being talked about as maybe the. greatest prospect in the history of uh. NFL football alongside John Elway, Andrew Luck, you don't pass on this type. of talent. Ben Johnson was being talked. in the same exact way at the head. coaching position. We should have.
assumed that they were going to be their. absolute best on the offensive side here. for this second season together. Yeah, I. guess it's kind of hard to assume. anything heading into week one. We don't. really know what the teams are, but if. if we would have uh tried to, you know, prognosticate what this week one would. have looked like for the Bears. I think. it's not a shocking thing that their. offense came out. I mean, Ben Johnson, he talked a big game and then he he. backed it up with what they did and how. how productive this offense was. And I. just think like week one going out there. and scoring as many points for the. Chicago Bears, like what does it do for. Caleb's confidence, for Ben Johnson and.
the rest of that coaching staff? like. they want to keep this thing rolling and. they their defense is continuing to get. turnovers like they did last year. >> On that point, Foxy, that's starting to. look like a Jared Goff like offense up. there just with a little extra sauce. with what Caleb Williams is able to do, isn't it, Foxy? >> No, you're 100% right, Pat. When I watch. Caleb Williams do this, this is when I'm. worried now. When he does the Caleb. stuff, whatever. You're a great athlete. You can do that. When I see Caleb doing. the Jared Golf stuff and then obviously. the run game marries with that, I am. very very very nervous about this.
Chicago Bears team and I'm very nervous. that Ben Johnson being gone might affect. the Lions in the long term. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. There there's a chance Ben Johnson. being gone could affect an absence of a. great is what everybody's saying could. potentially affect how uh the places. that he left. But this isn't the only. team that scored a bunch of points. Now, they obviously are the headline cuz they. were unbelievable and their coach said, "This is exactly what we're going to. do." And they actually do. It's. spectacular. Points, points, points, baby. I I mean, you're talking about. points galore. I mentioned it there in. the open. We're 43 points away.
We are literally 43 points away from the. highest scoring opening weekend in the. history of the NFL. And I guess I just. want to ask you, AJ Hawk and DBUT, >> defense, seab ball, getball. I heard you. guys were ahead of the times before. anybody else. And then I heard coach. Tomlin last night, which by the way, I. thought he looked clean. I thought he. did a good job. Congrats, coach. Cannot. wait to listen to you all year. He said. he was talking with coach Jason Garrett, you know, he ran a team as well. He's. like 20 years ago when we got in the. league, boys were hitting, boys were.
tackling. Boys were boys were in there. He thinks now with the lack of maybe uh. preseason games, the lack of training. camp practices that are allowed to. happen, maybe there isn't a lot of. tackling happening on the defensive. side, maybe there isn't a lot of full. go. So these first couple weeks defenses. can get exposed now as opposed in the. past when I thought it was the defensive. head start. Debbuck, we'll start with. you. Was it what is it? Because I mean. obviously there's some magical offensive. throws happening as well, but we were at. a game where they're just running. through people. I I mean it is should we.
see this happening for the foreseeable. future, Debb? Is this the new trend? AJ, I'd like to get your take on the. softness maybe of the defensive football. nowadays. >> Yeah, Coach Tomlin made some great. points. It's such a weak toe lead. We. even looked at it last year uh with the. week one and the unders. I feel like the. unders hit at a very very high rate and. then this year it's completely. different. Who knows what next week uh. will bring. But you talk about it with. college with it no not being preseason. It's like that for a lot of these NFL. teams too. And then you talk about the. element of Mike Tomlin mentioned this as. well. These mobile quarterbacks and.
you're so programmed all offseason. Stay. away from the quarterback. Stay away. from the quarterback. We saw it on the. hard knocks with uh coach McDonald. talking to his guy. Hey stay away from. the quarterback. And you get into the. game, you have Lamar Jackson, Caleb. Williams, Josh Allen, and obviously. these guys are going to expose you. So, I think that's part of it, tackling. Uh, but some of these offense just hit the. ground running, made plays, some of. these playmakers, and obviously these. coaches as well. >> Yeah, Deb, but when you when I watch. this, like I was trying to figure it out. like, does anyone have any good theories. around the league? And Tomman was I I. thought he made some good points about. it. And it is true. Like it's a it's a.
real thing to where if you don't tackle. to the ground throughout training camp, once you get in that first game or the. first preseason game, you realize your. body's like you're not ready for it. because when you go if say you're say. you're in practice and you're running, you're tagging off. You get low and. okay, we tag off or we thud. >> It's a big difference when you go to the. ground because it's just it. >> I don't know how to describe it. It. takes a couple weeks I think to get your. body in addition to doing that and then. getting up off the all of that stuff. It. sounds like basic and simple but it's. it's pretty real I think we saw it. happen this week. What about you? Well, it's also just like the quarterback.
play. It feels like we spent all this. offseason talking about how good the. league is as far as quarterbacks goes. And I think we're seeing that now. Like. if you look and run down some of the. stat lines some of these guys put up. I. mean Lamar Jackson threw for 350 yards. >> Carson Wentz had a hell of a day. >> Yeah. >> Well, what do you mean car? YOU SOUNDED. SURPRISED BY THAT. >> I'm not I'm not saying when you started. the game, you're thinking, all right, this guy's not going to Kyler's not. going to go out that early after. especially like early in the game. He. throws that ball up for everybody to. anybody in the stands to get when they. blitz him. a lot of pressure and Carson.
Wentz steps in and looked very good. >> Yeah, he looked very good. Obviously, we're talking Kyler JJ, Kyler JJ, Kyler. JJ and then all of a sudden you forget. about the Carson Wentz experience. I I. mean, should we have not maybe put two. and two together and I guess they were. together last year and we saw him go. overseas and introduce the international. crowd to what a Carson Wentz experience. could be, which is absolutely. exhilarating football. I I mean, just no. question about it. Carson Wentz is the. most electrifying football player that. ever played. I'm saying that as an. Indianapolis Colts fan who watched him. literally throw I think an off-handed. shot put zero yard pick six in a.
division title game and then the next. play balance on the ground on top of the. football and throw it 60 yards to. Michael Pitman for a first down in a. massive game. He is spectacular. The. upside with Carson Wentz is outrageous. He's an incredibly athletic guy. He's. wildly tough. Probably too tough for his. own good to be honest. I mean, if you. had to explain Carson Wentz, you'd say. too tough for his own damn good, but he. is a spectacular spectacle whenever he. is playing incredible football. He's got.
Justin Jefferson in a bucket rate. I I. mean, just an absolute dime, let alone. two touchdowns now for Justin Jefferson. I think I heard that was his first home. touchdown since 2024, maybe. I think I. heard that he was on quite a dry spell. at home. Last year, I think he only had. like two touchdowns. That's obviously a. big talking point. None of us dropped. him in our rankings after those stats. last year. I think that just goes to. show how much respect we have for Justin. Jefferson. But Carson Wentz, Kevin. O'Connell in a fourth quarter comeback. that people are going to talk about. forever. I absolutely love it. Now, the.
reason why it might get talked about. forever is uh because this goes to the. number three story line, a tale of two. floors, one the floor kind of new to the world. We saw his haircut before we saw him. He's from Los Angeles Rams, hired by the. Arizona Cardinals. Everybody assumed he. was going to be a head coach. He comes. from the Rams and McVey, but everybody. says this guy's coach. This guy's glow. coach. Obviously, his brother is a head. coach for the Green Bay Packers. Has. been. Now, Matt Laflur, Green Bay. Packers head coach. He's been talking a.
lot, you know. He's he's been talking a. lot. He he he he talked about Jordan. Love obviously being the best. quarterback at the line of scrimmage. that he's ever coached. Uh, obviously. Laflur and Gun decided to kick Aaron. Rogers out of Green Bay whenever he came. out of that dark hole, which he he went. on Cam Hayward show and said, "I never. do that again." And we we we told him. before he did that, he should probably. never do that. But there's been a lot of. chatter about Laflur, Jordan Love, Dun. being this next generation of Green Bay. Packer greatness. And on opening day, they absolutely collapse as a veteran.
crew. Let's head over to a Green Bay. Packers owner, a man who's obviously die. hard there. Cannot wait to hear this. Ty, the Vikings just kind of dumped all. over the Green Bay Packers there late. Um, was it because Brian Flores maybe. wore the boys out? Okay. 78% pressure. rate. We're bringing it. We're bringing. it. We're bringing it. We're bringing. it. We're bringing it. And then no. longer you had to tap out at the end. Bad decisions were being made. Ty. Schmidt, where do we sit on the Green.
Bay Packers right now that you just said. are on life support after the Carson. Wentz experience yesterday? >> Yeah, I mean, I'm certainly not happy. And it's not just yesterday. I mean, you. look at their last six games, uh, all of. which they have lost. In four of those, they had doubledigit leads in the fourth. quarter. So, um, at at a certain point, you know, uh, is that coaching? I think. a a big part of it is coaching. Like. these guys just for whatever reason, they don't know how to finish. You. mentioned the the pressure. I mean, and. maybe I was one of those guys who wasn't.
really giving Brian Flores enough credit. for how good their defense was because. the Packers blocked him up pretty good. the first three quarters and then it was. almost like Laflur told the offensive. line at the start of the fourth quarter, "Hey, quit quit blocking." It was like. that scene in Remember the Titans when. you know, Sunshine says, "Hey, let him. through. Let him through, Ray." And. that's what they were doing the entire I. mean, Love had no time to throw. They. had no running game. Um, and then they. just couldn't get off the field. You. know, it was just an absolute disaster. And it's one of those things where. people are going to bring up the six. games in a row. Uh and that's going to.
be a thing until they prove that that's. not an issue. Like it's almost like. they're just like, "Hey, just wait until. Micah gets back. Just wait until Micah. gets back." Well, he's he might not come. back till week six. And if you start 0. and five, you can kiss the season. goodbye. So, there's still some things. to like. Lucas Vaness, who they need to. really step up. He played well. The. offense looked great for three quarters. and then they just down their leg. uh in the fourth quarter like they did. in the playoff game against the Bears. So, I'm not happy. But again, it's it's. the first week now. I'll tell you what,
if they get beat by the Jets next week, >> oh man. >> Oh, they could they COULD GLENN'S GIVING. SPEECHES after wins. I didn't know who. possible. >> Exactly. Who wants to go flying like a. jet? He's saying that and it's. in it's in New York. So, we'll see. But. like like you guys were saying, that's. just just a terrible way to start the. season. Not the way you want to start. the season at all. >> Now, we're talking about Aaron Glenn. right now in the Jets. It's been really. quiet over there. Hey, really quiet over. there. They didn't have any leaks around. the draft time. Obviously, we all. respect Aaron Glenn's coaching ability.
That's why he's the head coach of the. New York Jets. But they got rid of. everybody and they're just trying to. redo it. Gino Smith might be a dude. Congrats to them. What's going on with. the Titans? I mean, that's a big. question. Let's get back to the Green. Bay Packers and Brian Flores bringing. the pressure. And AJ, this would be a. question for you and debut a lot more. than it would be for me to talk about. But just as a player, which you know, I. play pickup football growing up. >> Hell yeah. >> Mhm. >> And I also played in uh uh Plum's uh. Pee-Wee Football League. Is that what it. was called? >> What position?
>> PMFA, Plum Football Association. >> Whoa. I didn't know it was called that. I. >> That's just the name of it. Still what's. going on? I believe so. >> It's called Peewee. I think it's called. Pee. I I don't I'm not harm. So I played. all the positions. First day I showed. up. I was big. They put me at line. offensive line. Then we ran sprints at. the end. I was pretty fast. Then he put. me at like defensive end which was cool. for a little bit. I had a good time. I. actually had a good hands there. I did. that entire thing. Then moved back to. safety. Then running back then. inevitably wide receiver. Tone was a. quarterback. Only was able to play for a. couple weeks cuz I was in the middle of. literally playing soccer and potentially.
represent, you know, so it was a it was. just you just throw it up outside to the. guy and he would come down with it. It. was really neat. >> Pat's out there somewhere. Okay, >> I was pretty good. I'm going to be. honest. I was pretty good back in those. days. I'm not going to lie. I grew up in. Pittsburgh, played a lot of football. But on that note playing football, if. Brian Flores is sending that much. pressure, the boys love it, AJ. Right. Ain't that whenever like a defense is. deciding exactly how the offense is. going to play. Now, you're exposed for. explosives whenever you're bringing it. like that. But it does feel like the. boys will ride for you in the locker.
room if you put the onus on them to. apply the pressure. this 78% pressure. rate obviously the highest of week one. but this is kind of Flores's thing right. and this is like Flores is going to. bring it with Van Ginkle who seemingly. been playing under a. >> strip right there too what a. >> he's been he's been playing with. Flores's defense what 30 years it feels. like. >> I I honestly I feel like we've seen him. for a hundred years playing in this. defense and similar results every single. time but defenses love a DC that's going. to send it I guess especially if it. works like it did obviously in the.
fourth quarter late as they wore down. that Packers offense I think. >> well I think it Debbuck can speak to. this too like as a DB those guys know. like if if we're bringing pressure DBs. will tell you if they say your defense. isn't that good and you blitz and you. hang these guys out to drive there I. mean stop calling those blitz when you. play cover three or taper two or. something we because we're not getting. home with four. So if you bring pressure. and we and we know like say we're. bringing six and tell hey debut you got. to cover about a second and a half here. because we're getting there. I promise. you someone's getting there. We're going. to disrupt this. You're going to have. interception opportunities. And I think.
when you have success like this as a. defense and you can go in the film room. today and show the guys, hey, remember. when we'd walk through this blitz on. Wednesday, this is how it worked. Look. how it worked on Sunday multiple times. This is how I set this blitz up. This is. how I set that thing up for D. But I. know as a as a guy in the secondary, not. only you're coming off the edge, you're. blitzing a little bit when you're. playing Nickelback. But how do you feel. when you're a DB safety corner and you. know, hey, these blitz are getting home. consistently. >> I love it. And he mentioned it with Van. Ginky been in the defense for a while. a. lot of guys who have played a ton of. downs in that Flores defense. So,
knowing kind of like where your weak. points are in the defense, in the. scheme, like, hey, we can get hit here, but that's okay as long as we don't. don't get hit in these spots. And if. somebody makes a catch, you just make a. tackle. But when you're blissing, 78% of. the time, the chances of you creating. those havoc plays go up tremendously. So, yeah, I would love it as a defender. Obviously, if it's working, if you have. the talent, which they do, and at some. point that that that pressure is going. to get to him. What I love about it, too, is you don't always have to get the. quarterback on the ground. Sometimes. it's like the phantom pressure. You. start seeing ghost or you think you got.
something here, you throw it into a drop. and you throw a pick. So, I think it was. awesome what they do on defense and I. love watching as a fan for sure. >> You can get god deep though, right? We. all that is the. >> I mean, yeah, you got a guy like. Christian Watson out there, if you don't. tackle him, he can go 80 on you. Uh, so. yeah, you have to be aware of those. weapons, but that's part of it. You. know, you can't you can't play scared in. that defense. Then as it goes on, once. you kind of get the flavor of the week. as they say with the offenses or the. third downs or the red area, then you. kind of get more and more confident and. that's when players are kind of like,
"Hey, let's run this one. Let's this. one." You start having those. conversations on the sideline. But I. love watching it, >> man. So Flores is kind of like a Carson. Wentz. >> Yeah. >> Being a coordinator. >> Yeah. No ref. multiple times Super Bowl champ. HE. SHOWS CARL. >> WSON'S GOT A SUPER BOWL RING, TOO. Let's. not get it twisted out here. Okay. And. he's potential. He was finalist for MVP. >> People forget about that. That was about. a dog year ago, right? Every year is. like seven years. I think that's about.
what that was. But nonetheless, still. has it. He's a electrifying guy on. offense. >> Flores electrifying defense. Oh yeah. >> Vikings might be mustwatch this year. They get a huge win over Matt Laflur in. Green Bay. Let's go to the other lor. The tale of two Laflores. Not just one. leaflor. This is multiple flyers. Let's. go to Arizona. Are we worried about the. Chargers? Hey, >> what the hell happened? What's going on. here? Obviously, they lose the center. Jim Harbaugh distraught on the show. I. I've never seen a coach like that. I've.
never experienced that. It's always next. up, next man up. Let's do that. But here. was Coach Harbaugh literally the day. after they find out they lose center. >> Got my dabber down a little bit today. Uh we had a uh we had an injury. yesterday at practice and uh it uh just. takes the takes the wind out of your. sales. You got to got to sleep it off. Um you know, one night wasn't enough and. you know, but uh trajectory of the team. is is outstanding. Uh yeah, you know,
you get the player like uh Tyler Bottage. uh who was we just been been so dialed. in, so invested in the in the team and. um you know to see uh really was a play. that was probably a one in 10,000 type. of play where. >> he was bummed out. >> Be a goes down. Jim Harbaugh says his. daughter's down. That led to an entire. conversation. What the hell does that. mean? You know, we don't even know. We've never heard that saying before,
but he was bummed out. Was that the. issue? They just been so bummed out over. there cuz the offense bummed me out. I. didn't like what I saw. McDaniels with. Justin Herbert. We've been seeing videos. all off seasonason of like, hey, stuff's. about to happen with the football on the. offensive side of the field that you've. never seen before. >> Okay, this is about to be an. electrifying. Jim Harbaugh's teams. always going to be good just like John. Harbaugh's teams always gonna be good is. how we feel this entire thing. Then the. Arizona Cardinals, they're in the middle.
of a contract dispute with Jacobe. Brousett. They're going to end up paying. him $17 million. Everybody's going to. laugh in their faces. They come out, smack the chargers around. Jacobe. Brassette throws for 277. They're. blocking punts. They're doing all the. little things. And it's like, wait a. second. Have we been completely wrong. about a lot of stuff just because how we. naturally respond to stuff? But the. Cardinals might not be ass. And the. Chargers, are they not gonna be the. spectacle that we're uh expecting? because that's going to bum me out AJ if. they are not what I thought they were.
going to be coming into the season cuz I. had really high hopes especially cuz. Justin Herbert's dating Jen Beer now WE. GOT CELEBRITIES COMING TOGETHER WE WE. GOT BIG THINGS happening this is going. to be good for ball was going to have an. incredible offense it was going to be. spectacular the celebrity relationship. >> who's he dating Jenny with the BEERS. >> MISS BEER WITH JENNER. >> JENNY BEER. >> I think it's Madison get this name. Right. >> Madison beer. I'm so sorry. Madison.
beer. That is 100% on me. Madison. >> Jenny from the beer. >> Well, >> don't be fooled. >> She was probably expecting more than 14. points, I'm guessing, though, wasn't. she? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. And so were the camera people that. were like, "Hey, >> when this beard here loses it for Justin. Herbert, let's showcase that she knows. ball." By the way, there was a couple. reactions that she was watching, seeing. if something happened. Looked back to. see how Herbert was. Then she. celebrated. I'm like, "Okay." seemingly. knows Ball a bit. Celebrity. relationship. We've already seen what. that does for Ball.
>> Yeah. Yeah, sure. >> Yeah, sure. >> Yeah. Okay. >> What do you mean? >> You know, it's really cute and stuff, but the Chargers suck and people are. sick of the gimmick. People are sick of. the gimmick. And I get that the. Dobbber's down on biottish and stuff. when they go up there in the press game, postgame, press conference, and they're. just saying uh and um and uh and um. people are sick of that. One, two, they're sick of coming into every single. season like, "This is our year. We're.
going to do it this year. We're finally. going to be the LA Chargers that take. over LA." That was embarrassing. That. was brutal. But. >> I mean, I'm kind of all in on the. Arizona Cardinals. the way they were the. way Trey McBride and I think it was wing. guard as well after the game as the. clock's running out going over to the. floor and like hugging him and embracing. him and how that team has kind kind of. bought into the hey everyone thinks. we're going to suck. We had a guy on who. works for the Cardinals who or reporter.
for the Cardinals. He said we'd be. lucky. Yeah. He said we'd be lucky if we. stole two games in the first 11 weeks. and for them to come out and beat the. Chargers on the road. I think they're. 10point dog like that. That is. remarkable. I am all in on the. Cardinals. Now, there's a chance they. lose the next eight games. But on this. day, on September 14th, these Cardinals. are a problem and I can't wait to watch. him. >> On this September 14th, happy birthday, Sally McAfee. >> Happy birthday.
>> Happy birthday, Sally. But you're right. On September 14th, 2026, and maybe for. the foreseeable future, maybe this is. what Michael Forb's teams are. You know, maybe this guy's a good coach. >> Yeah, it's a team effort. >> Maybe it is a maybe. >> by the hair. >> Yeah. And legit the hair really messed. us up, you know, cuz Matt Laflur has the. bras. >> That's right. >> The eyebrows. And obviously, we've seen. him have success. His record as a head. coach is ridiculous. Okay. So, there's. going to be people potentially Packers.
fans at some point that are going to. want Laflur the hell out of time. He's. had a lot of wins. Maybe he'll be able. to figure it out. But we don't know what. this Michael Laflur guy is, which leads. to, hey, there was a lot of rookie head. coaches that had some success. D, but. what is it? Four and two. Four and two. rookie head coaches. Is that the final. stat we heard, Debb? >> I believe so. And for four of these guys. to get a win in their debuts as head. coach is very, very tough. You talk. about is still in the culture. You know, some team Jesse mentioned, you're taking. a veteran quarterback, a pretty veteran. team, getting a win. Laflur, a young.
team, veteran quarterback. You're. getting a win. Then you got uh C coups. over there in Vegas. They got a win over. my Dolphins, my Dolphins Frenell. And. then uh Joe Brady. Obviously you getting. the MVP Josh Allen. Everybody's saying. that's the best quarterback in the. league. You start the season off against. kind of the boogeyman in that Houston. Texans defense to get a win. So yeah, that's four out of their debut to get a. win. Four-2. Todd Mon obviously was ugly. over there and very ugly at Miami. >> Yeah, that's that's the bronze. I think. Halfley obviously run into a stubborn.
Raiders team which I I like by the way. and Max um Mad Maxman. >> Mendoza Crosby to be specific. >> I assume Mendoza had an incredible game. day as well. We I haven't seen it yet, >> but I'm assuming he crushed it. Uh Max. Crosby, there's a reason this guy is uh. who he is crazy that the Ravens didn't. want him. But you just mentioned, we'll. get to that in a little bit. Well, you. just mentioned Josh Allen and Joe Brady.
Love that Joe Brady's a full Florida. boy. Shirt off. We got chain on. We're. celebrating on the side. What a rally by. them. And that leads to top five. Top. five. Top five number two headline. Josh. Allen is still Josh Allen. I I mean, watching him take over that game and. play down Houston, which we all have. respect for the Houston defense, right? We all. >> Oh, yeah. Big noise. >> Everybody that has eyes and watches ball. has respect for the Houston Texans. defense. Obviously that is how uh they. have proven to be a absolute wonder in.
the Buffalo Bills defense obviously 31. points is a lot of points but Josh Allen. in week one doing that we normally. see him do in like week 13 week 14 in. the snow where he just dominates has a. thousand touchdowns does it all is. running is scrambling is jumping is. throwing is dicing and slicing and then. winning against the Houston Texans down. there which he hasn't been able to do. kind of getting a monkey maybe off of. his back whenever he talks about NRG or. Reliance Stadium in Houston. It was just. special to watch. And I think Joe Brady. getting a big time win is great. And I.
think them hiring a guy that Josh Allen. is friends with and likes is a good. thing, especially if it's Josh Allen. Now, not every coach or not every. player, I'm sorry, should be able to. like be a part of the hiring process of. a head coach. I think their uh opinion. should certainly be heard, but the. decision should be made by somebody. else. for Josh Allen with how unique of. a talent he is. Him being in the. interview process and standing by Joe. Brady and then Joe Brady obviously. having the entire locker room the way. that he does. It feels like they've made.
the right decision just if you go off a. resultoriented business with what they. did to Houston versus what they've done. to Houston in the past or with Houston. in the past. I This dude's an alien, bro. Got to win a Super Bowl, right? Nobody cares until you win a Super Bowl. Nobody cares until you win a Super Bowl. But this dude is outrageous. I think he. has 81 touchdowns. rushing touchdowns. Is that what it is? 81 rushing touchdowns. I think he he. moves into like top 20 all time in. rushing touchdowns. Not for. quarterbacks, for running backs as well. I I mean, he's special and we're very.
lucky to watch it. Got to win a Super. Bowl though, AJ. That's all anybody. cares. What a catch by Josh Palmer. there. >> Have to right there. It was awesome. watching Josh talk about this play after. the game saying we've never repped this. He'd never thrown the ball there in. practice to where it was, but they he. makes the read, makes the decision in. game. biggest part of the game to do it. to put up 36 on this Texans defense is. pretty awesome. I mean, this Texans. defense, they're they're going to have a. very good year, I believe. Obviously, CJ. Strad played well, too. I know we had. worries about him coming into this game. just from footage of him walking into.
training camp. I know you guys have had. all kind of issues with it, but he he. looked all right. >> You are the internet, Tone. You. basically speak for the internet. >> Don't put my name. >> I did see the video. It was a bit. concerning, but yeah, I was glad to see. CJ step out here and slang it a little. bit. And I think both these teams are. going to be solid, but the Bills and. Josh Allen. Yeah, there's a reason I. picked them to win the Super Bowl last. year. It obviously didn't hit, but I've. always been high in the Bills. >> Now, on that note about the big time. win, the throw to Josh Palmer that he. hadn't done, you know, ever in practice. D, but what do we do? What do we do?
>> Catch the ones they throw. You feels. like the football gods always do this. If you have a game-winning pick. opportunity in your lap and you give it. up, you're losing immediately, D. But. what the hell happened out here? I'm. sure AJ's been a part of these if we. remember. I'm sure Conman remembers the. 17-0 Patriots who had a chance to go. undefeated, win the Super Bowl, dropped. a couple interceptions. It always comes. back to bite you in the ass. And this. was kind of a flashback to Josh Allen. three or four years ago when he would. always make kind of that goofball, terrible throw, terrible decision, which.
he did here. Kamari Lacer, one of the. best corners in the league, just drops. like a punt. And then for him to come. back and the next play and throw an. absolute strike to Josh Palmer to get. the touchdown. That's what you got to. have as that's the mentality you have to. have as a quarterback, as a quarter, you. got to have that short-term memory. Just. go back there, drop an absolute seed to. win the game. I mean, unbelievable play. by Josh Allen. A lot of pressure in. Buffalo. Anytime you have an MVP caliber. quarterback and you're coming in as the. new head coach, it's going to be. pressure there. And even more pressure I. would say on Brandon Bean up in the uh.
general manager when you get rid of. Shawn McDerman and all the success he. had as a head coach. You obviously made. a decision as an ownership group. We're. going with Brandon Bean and his vision. going forward. So yeah, when you got a. talent like Josh Allen under center, the. pressure is on to win the Super Bowl. from day one. >> I think they're communications guy boy. is under a lot of pressure too. from my understanding. So, you know, a. lot of heat whenever you're at the top. of the mountain or supposed to be at the. top of the mountain. And we can't wait. to watch this version of the Buffalo. Bills this year. And let's talk about.
the top of the mountain and needing to. win a Super Bowl. And I'll tell you, these guys. >> Mhm. >> watch a team that could win a Super. Bowl. Jesse Mentor's Baltimore Ravens. Okay. With Lamar Jackson running 77%. motion. Okay. 77% of the time. the. second most I think or most whatever the. most Lamar Jackson under center three. different motions with 8 seconds left on. a play clock. You had the Colts. completely. had no idea what was going on. And then.
obviously Lamar goes crazy. Derrick. Henry goes absurd. Everything that ZAY. FLYERS HE MIGHT HAVE HURT his hamstring. cuz he was too open. I I I mean. watching this Ravens team was absurd. yesterday. And it wasn't until I walked. into the stadium and I saw Lamar Jackson. on the field that it really hit me like, man, I get to watch Lamar Jackson play. football today. Like I I I that's crazy. that I'm I get to be here. And he did. Yeah. This guy might have had the. greatest game he's ever had. Their. entire offense looked very much in sync.
Just everything looked easy. Okay. I. mean, then the defense, Jesse Mentor, we. assume he's going to have an incredible. defense and I assume they're going to do. great. They smothered the Colts. They. pounded the Colts. And with these eyes, I said they might be the greatest team. in NFL history. We don't know that. We. have no idea what is possible, but they. had an MVP uh type player in Lamar. Jackson. Didn't get a deal done, which. everybody was talking about, which is. interesting for Lamar's motivation. And. what is he thinking about long-term, new. coach, new operation, but he was at. everything this spring. He was at every.
workout. He was all in on learning. everything about everything. And it was. very obvious, debut, they looked. outrageous. And then Dererick Henry, how. is he still doing it? We watched him in. high school. What? In 1999, he was doing. this to people in high school. D, but I. don't I I feel like I might be. overreacting a little bit. This Ravens. team looked flawless. Kicker hit a 58-. yard field goal. Punter bombed a couple. He's out of Michigan State. I mean, the. team looked unbelievable yesterday. Is. that the Colts? Is that the Ravens? I'm.
choosing to believe. Long season. Colts. are still okay. Ravens might be greatest. team in NFL history. Look out 72. Dolphins. Du. Yeah, you couldn't ask for. a better start if you're Jesse Mentor. You talk about Zay Flowers, that. extension he got uh raised some eyebrows. out in the I guess football community, especially amongst the casuals. Like, why is Zay Flowers getting his money? He. showed you pretty soon why pretty early. on in this game. He looked like prime. Jerry Rice early in this game before he. went out with the hammy. Just. unbelievable. But watching Lamar, just. like you, I had the conversation I think. with Con man when we got to the game as.
well. Like you start seeing those Lamar. Jackson jerseys on the street. you see. him, it's like, okay, we do get to watch. eight live and in action and boots on. the ground, you get a different. appreciation for him. Just his whole. operation, just his comfort level. And. this is a brand new offense with Declan. Doyle uh calling the plays. Now, he was. operating from the pocket. There were. times where I was standing up, hands in. there, celebrating the sack that we had, and then Lamar scooting 25 yards down. the field. And I think Logan Ryan said. it on the call. I heard a clip after. like when you think about Derek Henry. and Lamar Jackson, it's almost like Kobe.
and Shaq. When they are going, when they. get it rolling, it get it can get. unstoppable. So when you have that. three-headed monster when Zay Flowers is. healthy, Lamar, Zay, and Derek Henry who. just seems just keep getting bigger, faster, stronger as the years go on. Yes, they are a force to be reckoned. with. It's the reason why I think they. tied for the highest win total coming. into this year. Even with a new head. coach, I'm excited about Lamar this. year. He looks like he's well off to an. MVP caliber season. It seems like every. year he's in that conversation. Just. same as Josh Allen. The pressure is.
there with these new head coaches to go. and win and go win now. >> Yeah. And I'll tell you, the Ravens. certainly did win right now and then. again right after that and then again. right after that. I mean, I I think. there was a couple drops by a couple. wide receivers, like maybe Mark Andrews. dropped one, which we're all like. dumbfounded by, but it was virtually a. perfect performance from Lamar Jackson. And he's clearly faster than everybody. whenever he wants to be, but the he just. strolls, man. He's just casual, bro.
Just in between plays, just kind of. walking casual in complete control. Huddle is just in command. Everybody. obviously knows what's happening. He's. under center, completely comfortable. down there. No problem at all. It's like. this guy. I know obviously a lot of. people still to this day, even though. his QBR and passer rating are like up in. the 90s and he's considered one of the. greatest throwers. >> all over the place. Yeah. So, a lot of. people just think Lamar Jackson's an. athlete or whatever. Lamar Jackson's. athlete. Some people still think that, I. guess, at this point. It's like I I've.
never seen a more polished looking. quarterback. He. >> That was outrageous yesterday. I mean, it was an absolute ass long season. >> Yep. >> Long season. Okay, Colts are going to be. better than they looked yesterday. Ravens are just the best team of all. time potentially. Joining us now, man, they can give us a little bit more info. maybe on Z Flowers and what we're. expecting. We looked over to the. sideline while we're at the game. Saw no. helmet, no gloves. We just thought maybe. he said 150 yards, cup, I'm out of here. Just going to chill. We're doing load.
management for next week. Let's keep me. healthy. I just got paid. We need me. obviously. Joining us now is a senior. NFL insider for ESPN and legend out of. Michigan who might not be dead just yet. Ladies and gentlemen, Adam Shfter. >> Y, >> how you doing? >> Happy Monday, everybody. How we doing? >> Happy happy overreaction Monday to you. as well. It is a glorious day. So many. things to think about. Let's talk about. what we were just chatting about there. The Ravens might be the greatest team in. the history of the NFL. We're not 100%. sure, but we do know Zay Flowers left. that game early because of a hamstring.
Do we have any updates on any of that? And what time should we expect the. updates for most of these injuries, Shifty? Well, they come in throughout the course. of the day and week and obviously every. injury is different, but I would say. that with a hamstring, you miss a little. bit of time. It doesn't sound overly. serious, but again, to think that he'd. be out there this week would probably be. unrealistic. Jacobe Lane fractured his. wrist. That's going to be a problem for. the Baltimore Ravens as well. And you. know, you're talking about how. impressive they were. Just think about. the fact that they get Jesse Mentor, which they're hoping upgrades the.
defense. They have Declan Doyle, who the. Bears wanted to keep under Ben Johnson, who they hired as their offensive. coordinator. You saw what Declan Doyle. did. And as Debbut was pointing out, they paid Z Flowers $35 million a year. And people are like, why are they doing. that? Well, I think yesterday answered. that question. They're not dumb, these. teams. They know what they have and they. knew what they had in Z and they were. getting that deal done as soon as they. could because they believe in his. skills. Now, it was unfortunate that he. went out with the hamstring injury, but. this team is clicking on all cylinders.
And I'll also say this, you brought up. Max Crosby, but nobody's talking about. Trey Hendrickson. And in the two uh. joint practices they had this summer, I. was told that he was unblockable then. He was almost unblockable yesterday. And. I think he's brought a lot of fire and. life to that Ravens defense. Yeah. Shout. out to Trey Hendrickson. Obviously, we're big fans of his. Hopefully the. Ravens are able to go on a run for him, especially with, you know, the. interesting ending alongside the. Cincinnati Bengals, who would then bring. in Sexy Dexi to revamp their defensive.
line, which seemingly helped out. immensely. Let's talk about a defensive. line that looks nothing like what we. thought it was going to look like. Aaron. Donald, nah, he's not going to play. And. now all of a sudden, AJ has a question. for you about another high price, high. talked about offseason subject. AJ, go. ahead. Yeah. Sheffy, were you caught off. guard at all about this Miles Garrett. getting this arthoscopic surgery on his. knee? Is this something that had been. lingering throughout? Obviously, we know. he missed most of camp, but did you. think that the surgery was going to. happen? And how long do you expect him. out?
>> Mhm. >> Well, I think that it had been an issue. They were managing it all during camp. I. thought it was peculiar that he went. three straight weeks without practicing. and all of a sudden the week of the. opener, I'm asking around like, is he. playing? Yeah, he's playing. He's. playing. Okay. Obviously, he did not. feel right. He was not a factor in that. opening game and clearly was bothering. him to the point where they made the. decision this weekend to have the. surgery. Now, he's having the surgery. today and they're waiting to see how it. goes before they update it, but it.
sounds like it's going to be a minimum. of a month. It sounds like it'll land. them on IR and you're certainly not. going to rush Miles Garrett back. You. want to make sure that he's healthy and. right before you're bringing him back. So, minimum 4 weeks, potentially longer. depending on how the surgery and the. recovery go. Can't say that just yet, but yeah. I mean, that's a blow. Like, it's funny how this changes. You think. about the Monday night matchup next. week. It's the Giants and the Rams. And. people were talking about the Giants. If.
they can't find a way to beat Dallas, now they're going to LA and now they. could start 0 and2 under John Harour. Well, hold on. Uh, what did Lee Corso. say? Not so fast, my friends. Right. The. Giants go out and win. Giants now going. to LA. Rams don't have Miles Garrett. My. guess is Aaron Donald will be back and. make his debut next Monday night minus. Miles Garrett and all of a sudden it. looks like a game the Giants will have a. chance to win. Not telling you they will. win, but the Giants look like they're. playing tough football. So the Rams,
it's a rough start. You lose a game, you. lose Miles Garrett. That's not exactly. the start that people were envisioning. for a team that some people were. thinking could go unbeaten this year. >> Yeah, me. Yeah, there was I was. wondering how people could get a first. down. I guess we'll have to wait for the. Avengers of the defensive line until at. least week four. Aaron Donald and Miles. Garrett together. I thought we were. getting that down under. Would have been. awesome to watch and I think it would. have been good for the Rams who. obviously started a little bit. lackluster to kick this entire thing.
off. Uh there's a story line developing. in Pittsburgh. one. They're one and0. under Mike McCarthy. On the defensive. side though, is there still moves to be. made? Tone has a question for you, Shifty. >> Yeah, Shifty. Obviously, officially on. Sunday, Joey Porter Jr. was on the. inactive list. He did not play in the. game on Sunday with a quote unquote back. issue. Um, I believe Coach McCarthy also. said it was kind of part of his ramp up. Uh, you said in that tweet there it. could be a trade possibility still. What's the latest uh developing in that. situation? Well, before I answer, were.
you surprised that he wasn't going to. play to him? A. >> a little bit. Yeah. Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> I I think a lot of people were and I. think that honestly the biggest thing is. the conditioning factor. He hadn't. practiced all summer. It's tough to go. out and play the opener at that spot. when you haven't practiced at all all. summer long. And so, I think that was a. part of it. He's had the back issue all. summer long. He hasn't practiced. Uh. they want to be smart. And I'm sure, let's be honest, that he wants to be.
really smart about it being that he. doesn't have the deal that he wants. And. and it's it's a tricky spot because. we've seen a number of quarterbacks this. off season get paid. north of $30 million. Denzel Ward did. Um Christian Gonzalez did, Devin. Witherspoon did. And Joey Porter wants. to be paid. On the other hand, I think. the Pittsburgh Steelers say, "Great. player. We think there's a certain value. for you, >> but I don't know that you're worth more. than Patrick Certan at a number like $24.
million, >> right? So, >> it leaves the two sides in a in a. difficult spot where they're trying to. find a common ground and haven't come. close to doing it yet. >> and he's not playing. And so, the. Steelers have been open to listening to. offers so far for what they would want. back. There has not been a lot of trade. interest. I don't know what would spur. that right now. Usually, as we see, these things get done when they have to. The trade deadline would be November. 10th. Pittsburgh's winning, too. You're.
not going to want to unload good. players. He's not happy with the. situation. It's It's evolving. Let's see. where it goes. It's still early. >> Okay, let's talk about evolving. The. Browns is still the Browns, it appears. Debut has a question about the drama the. offseason that has kind of lingered into. the regular season. Yeah, that was one. of the quarterback competitions we all. kept our eyes on and it didn't start. well for Todd Mon and Deshun Watson in. Cleveland yesterday. Are you hearing any. rumblings about a potential quarterback. change in Cleveland already? >> Well, first of all, today's Deshun. Watson's 31st birthday.
>> Yeah, happy birthday. >> Happy birthday. >> Wow. >> 31. Nice little gift for yourself. Would. have been a successful Monday. Maybe. that's what that's what they're saying. But we're saying congrats on another. trip around the sun. Now, on that note, Yep. And that was his first NFL start in. 693 days. And they they the whole team. looked terrible. And so I think what the. team was thinking going into this was. they wanted they hoped that Deshawn was.
going to be able to start the first week. at Jacksonville, play well, start the. next week at Tampa on the road again, play well, and ride him until they felt. like they needed a change. I think that. was the initial plan to go with a. veteran on the road in Florida, but they. looked so poor yesterday. Everybody did. that after the game, they asked Todd Mon. about it. He was non-committal on. anything or anybody. He may go back and look at the tape and. say, "You know what? Let's go with.
Shadore in Tampa next week." Or he may. just say, "Let's ride it out another. week." But if they were to stick with. him, and I don't know if they will, I I. think it's fair to say the clock is. running right now. And if they were to. lose again, it's hard to imagine that. you're gonna bring Deshawn Watson back. for a home opener in front of fans that. have already booed him if you were 0 and. two. Like I don't know that they'll. stick with him this week. They may make. a change. We'll see. That's something. they're going to go over, but I can't. imagine that by the time they get home.
Let me look at the schedule here. In the. third week of the season, the Cleveland. Browns play Carolina at home, then. Pittsburgh at home. And so, yeah, I. don't I don't know that Deshun Watson's. gonna make it to there unless he starts. playing considerably better. >> Now, there's a chance the Jacksonville. Jaguars are who Liam Cohen says they. are, you know, and maybe just made the. Cleveland Browns look like uh, >> you know, a dump in a pants literally. across the board down there. But Trevor. Lawrence looked unbelievable. Okay. And.
obviously their defense was hunting. I. mean, Deshawn got hit a bunch. It is uh. maybe a different time down in Duvall, too. So, let's not give up all hope on. Todd Monkin being a good head coach, but. I'm telling you, people are already. saying Todd Mon's probably going to end. up coaching somewhere else in a year or. two. I don't like that that's happening, but that's seemingly Cleveland Brown's. world in a nutshell. Uh, we have a. question now about another nutshell, and. this nutshell is maybe the greatest. nutshell that we've seen in football. There was a quarterback battle all off. season in Minnesota. Kyler, JJ Coller,
JJ Coller, JJ Coller, JJ Coller throws a. pick. Coller gets a concussion. We know. he's in concussion protocol. We'll see. how it goes. But Tai has a question. about the experience that the Packers. got to ride alongside the Minnesota. Vikings fans as well. >> Yeah, Shifty, considering that, you. know, when you go in the concussion. protocol, these guys miss anywhere from, you know, two to five weeks now, what. are the odds that Carson Wentz kind of. takes the reigns in Minnesota and that. Carson Wentz experience rolls on for the. next several weeks, maybe even the.
entire season. >> Well, before I answer that, Ty, I got a. question for you. How do you feel about. the Packers losing six straight games. now? >> Yeah, dreadful. Dreadful. Absolutely. dreadful. >> No, I don't say that. I don't say it as. a taunt. That's not how I operate. Why. did you say it? >> Yeah, you did. >> Yeah, I don't mean. >> Yeah, you did. >> I don't mean I THINK THEY CALL IT I. DIDN'T mean that. >> I'm just like I can't believe I can't. believe a team that good has I can't. believe are they? That's what we say.
Kind of Groundhog's Day around here. haven't won. >> That's not what we're talking about. I. want to know if Carson Wentz is going to. win the NFC North this year as the the. quarterback of the Minnesota Vikings. >> Well, I'll say this. The Vikings players. were saying that Kyler Murray was in. good spirits after the game. Usually, a. player that's in the fencing posture. who's gone through brain trauma is not. playing the next week. So, I wouldn't. think that Kyler's going to play. So, it's another week of Carson. And I would. guess you find yourself in one of those.
scenarios where if Carson plays well. again this week, look, they're playing. the Bears, the high-flying Bears who are. on pace here to shatter scoring records. and if Carson Wentz is in a shootout. with them and they find a way to win the. game and he's playing well, you're going. to keep playing them the next week and. so you'll keep riding. There's a reason. they wanted him back there in Minnesota. They had JJ. They were signing Kyler and. they still wanted Wentz and they wanted. him because they know what he's capable.
of. They wanted his veteran presence. They obviously had questions about the. quarterback position in general. They. didn't know how Kyler and JJ were going. to work out. So, yeah, I I think as long. as he's playing well and they're. winning, he'll keep playing. That's the. way it's going to be. Now, I think when. Kyler is healthy and ready, whether. that's two weeks, 3 weeks, whatever it. may be, I think they'll probably at some. point in time go back to him. But it's. Carson's turn right now to ride it out, see how he can play. And yesterday, pretty amazing, right? He comes in as a.
backup. He's the first backup. quarterback to enter a game and throw. three touchdowns, no interceptions since. the very first game in Vikings franchise. history when Fran Tarkington did it. No. other backup quarterback ever had done. that in an opening game across the NFL. And the only time it ever happened was. with Fran Tarkington. friend. >> Pretty good name to be alongside. obviously as Carson Wentz becomes second. reserve. Shout out to Hembo using the.
word reserve instead of backup. quarterback which we respect as if it. was still 1950 when that happened for. Fran Tarkington. Okay, let's go back in. time. Obviously, we had a huge NFL. Sunday slate. We'll talk about college. here in a little bit, but there was uh. obviously midweek games last week that. kicked off the entire week one, especially up there in Seattle as we saw. a quarterback that uh was a finalist for. the MVP last year have his worst quarter. ever. Connor has a question about what's. going on with the Patriots. >> Yeah, Shifty, another similar injury to.
Miles Garrett, the big acquisition for. New England, AJ Brown. He left the game, had an ankle injury, and now he is. officially on IR. or someone had to. break that news to Josh McDaniels on the. radio this weekend to him. But what is. the situation with AJ? Is it going to be. the full uh four weeks? Is it going to. be 6 weeks? Is there any sort of thought. of when he's going to be back from this. injury? >> Well, it's going to be a minimum of four. weeks. It definitely could be 6 weeks. That is the range that I was told it. would be four to six weeks on the high.
ankle sprain, which would be consistent. with that particular injury. He doesn't. need surgery, so that's encouraging. But. he was grabbing that on Thursday night, Wednesday night. You knew right away it. was going to be something and he's gonna. miss some time now. And that that's a. blow. Like when he went out of that. game, um it wasn't like he was lighting. it up while he was in there. But it it. did seem to change. And Romeo Dobs. didn't make the plays that he needed to. in that particular matchup. He's going. to need to make those plays here going. forward. And they had a pretty deep wide.
receiving room, so it seemed. And those. other guys have to step out cuz it's. going to be four to six weeks. Okay, four to six weeks for AJ Brown. Uh, that's obviously a third of the. season nowadays with 17 games. Uh, we. appreciate the hell out of you, Shifty. Anything we miss coming out of week one. NFL Sunday before tonight's Monday Night. Football, Patrick Mahomes returns here. at home as a two and a half point. favorite against the Denver Broncos. >> Well, I think obviously you brought up. Joy Porter. You bring We didn't bring up. John Horal at all and the effect that he.
had on the Giants. That's interesting. Well, you tried to. It sounds like you. got a pretty good tie in there and I. respect and appreciate that. Let's hit. that a little bit more because they they. were a team that a lot of people had. high hopes for. Now, obviously, Giants. fans were believers in Jackson Dart. I. think that was a great way to start this. game, by the way, cuz Jackson Dart takes. a hit, doesn't end up in the blue tent. The boys fight for him. John Harbaugh, everything he likes his toughness. He. loves that his boys had to fight. And. then every time the Dallas Cowboys were. maybe mounted a comeback, the Giants. would answer. Jackson dart proof time.
and time again that he has an answer and. then likely what an offensive weapon. Ricard is on in every single play and. Scataboo is back to hitting back flips. after scoring touchdowns and maybe. TAKING OUT A PYLON RIGHT THERE. ROLL HIS. ANKLE AGAIN. Don't do that. So, uh, Sheffy, your thoughts on Harbaugh and. the Giants as it sounds like maybe you. have a little sals that we don't have or. haven't covered yet. >> Well, a few things. You see Isaiah. likely catch that pass. when likely. played in Baltimore, he was a guy that. Lamar Jackson loved and believed in. And.
if it weren't for all those weapons that. they had there, Derek Runn, Derrick. Henry running, Mark Andrews, Z Flowers, likely would have been used more. And I. think they were ready to have him. blossom last year. He got hurt early in. the year. And when John Harbaugh gets. the Giants job, one of the priorities. that he puts out there is to go get. Isaiah likely. And you see what he does. last night against the Cowboys. He. tortures them. And so that was a John. Harbaugh move. Loved him. They knew. exactly what they were getting. A. big-time tight end. Ask Lamar Jackson.
how he feels about Isaiah likely. And. John Harbaugh last night with Malik. Neighbors. Malik Neighbors on Saturday. changed the plans and had his family not. come to the game. He thought he wasn't. going to play. Basically, they weren't. going to come because he didn't want to. disappoint them, have them there. They. don't come to the game. He's kind of. just testing out the knee pregame. John. Harbaugh goes and tackles him and and. everyone's like, "Who's tackling Malik. Neighbors?" They had no idea what was. going on there. And they look up, it's.
coach Harbaugh gets up. Neighbors like, "Well, I I got tackled. Okay, so I'm. good to go." In the stadium where I tore. my Nate and that was the turning point, I think, where he decided a couple hours. before he wanted to go play the game. >> So, hold on. Did we head Where did he. put his head? Was it heads up football. or when John Harbaugh was playing. football? Let's maybe now this is this. is the disappointing news for Giants. fans. He led with the crown of his. helmet and he could be suspended for the. next game on Monday night. We'll see. That's the ultimate question.
>> Don't be doing our She you got to. you know we're allowed to make that. stuff up. You saying people think it's. actually real. There must be a. >> update that John Harbaugh led with the. crown of his helmet while tackling his. number one wide receiver Malik. Neighbors. Can you tell us a little bit. more about it? Did you get more. information? Did he like grab him and. take him to the down? Did he actually. blindside him? Like what was the tackle. that happened? Cuz I'm trying to I'm. trying to. >> dove right at his knee. >> Poor scholar. >> Yeah. Hit. >> Yeah. I I didn't see it, but the players. Jackson Dart was talking about after the. game. The players, they were surprised.
They're like, "Who brought down Leak?". We didn't even know. And they looked. down. They see it's the coach. So, I. just think he wanted to restore the. confidence that Malik Neighbors was. questioning and wondering because it was. very much up in the air that he was. going to play. And I think he thought he. thought Saturday he wasn't playing. >> Imagine he tears his knee again. >> John Harbaugh stumbles accidentally like. everything he thought he was going to. do. He trips and falls. >> He might have been the first coach to be. fired before his first game ever. Like.
that would have been like you take down. YOUR YOU'RE YOU'RE FIRED. YEAH. HE. DOESN'T EVEN coach the game. They could. have fired him before the game. That. would have been unbelievable. >> We're happy that wasn't the case. Watching Malik Neighbors get a couple. big time passes last night on Sunday. Night Football was special to see his. recovery. Jackson Dart looks outrageous. The defense is great and I I haven't. lost faith in the Cowboys either. I. think I've just built how much I love. Harball's Giants. I guess it makes sense. why the Giants fans were trying to spin. the arm that this could be their year. Congrats to you, Bruce and Chefy. We'll. see you later on Monday Night Countdown, pal. >> Hey, good luck on your Monday Night.
Countdown debut. Are you nervous, Pat? >> Well, I'm a part of the NFL media now, so it is an honor of a lifetime. I'm. very thankful. And uh. >> such a company guy. NFL media. Such a. company guy. You are. Well, we we you. know, we've been to a couple NFL events. and because this particular show is not. NFL media, we do not have access to uh. you know, certain stuff. So, this has. come up in the past. But, it's an honor. to be asked. It's an honor to have the. opportunity. And uh yeah, I mean, if you. were to go back and tell little kid me. in Pittsburgh that I was going to be a.
part of Monday Night Football's. coverage, I would have shipped my pants. just like I'm doing now. So, I'm very. thankful. I'll see you then, Chef. We. got a heart out. Goodbye. That's Adam. Shefferly. >> All right, we're back on the other side. with so much more to talk about. Like I. love Kelly Mo. I like the Lion story. lines in abundance. We'll see you again. then. >> We are obviously here in beautiful. Austin, Texas. Kana Casino, where are. you from, brother? >> I'm from Zansville, Indiana. >> Okay. But do you go to school here at.
Texas? >> I I go to school here in UT. >> Okay. Okay. That sounds good. I'm happy. they're going to like you. Matthew. McConnA is here. Any words for Connor. here that maybe he should think about. before kicking a $1. million. >> kick. >> Yeah. Yeah. Got you, dude. >> Gonna, how about that? How about that? A. southpaw leg. >> Soccer sty going barefoot. Tony. Franklin. Come back. >> I like that. >> You're going to kick this thing just. inside the our left upright and kick it.
into DKR. >> Uh, you played soccer growing up, so he. should have a little bit of comfort. kicking. >> We're going to have pop. >> Okay. So, do you think a million-dollar. kick is going to happen here? This be. the first time ever for this kicking. season. >> This is going to happen. >> It's going to happen. My man Conor's got. this. And listen, here's the other. thing. What do you got to lose? Nothing. Cuz you ain't got the million. No, no, no. That's not yours yet. You're going. to go get it. >> with the left leg. >> You're right. I didn't think about it. >> Rehearsing is done, right? It's live. What do we get? One take. And why not? >> In Indianapolis, there's this nonprofit.
called Building Tomorrow. And if I make this kick, hopefully I. want to give half of those proceeds TO. BUILDING TOMORROW. >> OKAY, we got A GOOD KICK HERE. YOU GOT. IT. >> Let it rip, baby. >> $1 MILLION KICKER. >> Oh my god.
Let me tell YOU SOMETHING. LET ME TELL. YOU SOMETHING. >> We will do one more kick. >> Now, from my understanding, which I. appreciate you doing this, Mr. McConn is. going to throw in 100,000. Herby's going. to throw in 100,000. This will be a $1.2. million kick. 600,000 to charity. 600,000 TO YOU. LAST OPPORTUNITY. I. DON'T WANT TO HEAR A THING FROM YOU. TEXANS. They're barefooted. Hey. Hey.
Real quick, Connor. >> Tabet. >> Texas. >> HEY, TEXAS. HEY, CONOR. HEY. >> OKAY, LET'S GO. They could have said you. sucked. I'm happy they didn't do that. >> You got this, >> CONNOR. FOR $1.2 MILLION, 600,000 to. charity, 600,000 to your future. All you. got to do is make one 33 yd field goal. >> Holy.
Yeah, baby. Yeah, baby. DOWN THE PIPE. COME ON. DOWN THE PIPE, BABY. >> ABSOLUTELY. >> CONGRATULATIONS, POTTER. >> The following program is a collection of. students talking about happenings in the. sports world. It is meant to be comedic, informative. The opinions expressed on. this show do not necessarily reflect the. beliefs of their peers, their boss or.
ESPN. There may be some cuss words. because that's how humans is the real. world talk. If you are a young, please. seek permission before watching any. further. >> Hey, >> let's go. This show stinks and the fact that you. listen, we are very, very thankful for. you. >> McAfee off the line with a gorgeous. assist. >> The alltime leading tackler for the. Green Bay Packers. You.
>> start damn it. >> Your friend, tell a friend something. nice could change their life. Hello, beautiful people and welcome back. to this glorious overreaction Monday, September 14th, 20126, hour two of the. sports program beginning right now. FOOTBALL. IS THE GREATEST of all time and. obviously NFL week 1 Sunday slate.
delivered explosives and highlights. across the board. And tonight we wrap up. week one of the NFL season right here at. Arrowhead as the Chiefs host the Denver. Broncos as two and a half point. favorites. Patrick Mahomes comes back. early from injury. Travis Kelce now a. married man. >> Wow. >> Oh yeah. >> Will that ring on his finger weigh him. down? Or will that ring on his finger. maybe propel him to the best comeback? Revenge redemption season for this. Chiefs team who had an ass year last. year. And the Denver Broncos, the only.
thing that was asked about their year. last year was how Bo Knicks broke his. leg with four plays left to get to the. AFC Championship game. We all remember. Shawn Payeyton coming back out dressed. like a lumberjack saying our. quarterback's not going to play next. week. So he broke it. You just saw him. He just did an interview. We just won. We're all happy. He broke his leg. So. yeah, now the Patriots, not only do they. have the easiest regular season of all. time, now they potentially have the. easiest AFC Championship game of all. time. And that's how it's going to be. A.
great defense, Bon Knicks with another. year of experience, healthy leg. What. will the Denver Broncos look like as. underdogs in their first game of the. season here against Kansas City Chiefs? Fun fact, Patrick Mahomes has never lost. at home against the Denver Broncos who. >> 7-0. has never ever lost to the Denver. Broncos at home. And if you do recall in. a throwaway game, his rookie season, week 17, he came in because Alex Smith. and the Kansas City Chiefs had already.
secured their spot in the playoffs. So. was uh, you know, last game of the. season before the playoff run. Alex. Smith is the quarterback. Let's put. Patrick Mahomes in here. He beat the. Denver Broncos that year, that game as. well. So Patrick Mahomes seemingly does. very well against this Denver Broncos. team. Will this Shawn Payeyton version. of the Broncos be any different here. tonight in the home. of. >> Can't wait to feel that. Can't believe. I'm lucky enough to be here. Very lucky. and thankful to be a part of Monday.
Night Countdown and also to have the all. the boys back there at the Thunderdome. AJ Hawk, thank you for traveling to. Indianapolis. DBUT, you look fantastic, pal. What a weekend it was. Toxic Table. at Boston Connor and at Ty Schmidt. Good. to see you, pal. And then one half OF. THE HAMMER. >> That was a. >> Jeez Louise, Tony. >> Tony jumped the gun. >> Tony jumped the gun. >> Tony jumped the diving board very early. >> They're calling it They're calling it. different this year. Um I feel like I I.
just timed it up perfectly. Uh like TJ, why? But we'll see. >> Okay. Yeah, maybe got a little bit of a. jump on the ball. You'll say you're. seeing it and hearing it better than all. of us. Even though if we're if one. wrong, all wrong. you know, everybody. else basically was right. You were the. only one wrong, but that's on all of us, not just on you. We'll do the push-ups. later for your mistake. That's the team. and good accountability. But Tone Diggs, can we talk a little bit about the. points points points? And can we talk a. little bit about what happens with. DraftKings this week and the best sports. book on earth? If you are of age and.
agree to gamble responsibly, not like an. we'd love you to come join us. at DraftKings because if you if you. gamble like an it it ruins it. for all of us. Yeah. Okay. So, let's be. responsible. Let's not think that we're. getting rich off of this, but let's try. to hit these people. Let's try to hit. DraftKings as much as possible. We had a. points points points boost this weekend. that hit for college football. Tonight, we're thinking maybe a little ground and. pound. Ain't that right, Tone? What's. the story of the sports gamblers coming. out of week one's NFL Sunday slate?
>> Yeah, we started things off right on uh. on Thursday with hitting a boost on in. that one or sorry, Wednesday that was. with Patriots and Seahawks hitting a. boost on that one. And then yeah, we had. a three over boost that hit this weekend. in college football. Um overs were a. thing of the weekend. Uh nine and six to. the over in the NFL. And you talked. about the points points points. If we. have 43 points tonight, we're setting a. record. Uh I believe eight of the top 10. um touchdown scoring prop people, tickets that were were on them scored. this weekend. So it was a great weekend.
for the Gamblers and not so much the. books. And then yes, we have another one. tonight. I believe it goes live later. this afternoon where we have the running. backs from tonight. JK Dobbins and then. obviously K9 Kenneth Walker two score. touchdowns boosted to plus 600. >> Boy are we feeling good about ourselves. >> and okay that will be uh live at 5 I. believe on DraftKings boosted at plus. 600. Could be a ground and pound game. tonight which is kind of what we are.
hoping for and maybe even expecting a. little bit. Ladies and gentlemen, joining us now is a uh a stallion of a. man who we're going to see on TV. We. know every single day of our lives for. the rest of football season. Ladies and. gentlemen, Daw, >> look how tall he is. >> I know. >> Still gross. >> This can't be what this is. >> Late puberty guy. >> Really? >> All right, Dan. Uh I'm happy that you.
hit a little bit of a late puberty. Congratulations to you. A lot of kids as. well, so obviously uh everything's. worked out for you just fine. Um Monday. Night Football's here. We're we're doing. a ground and pound the rock uh boost. that won't be live until 5:00 on. DraftKings. How do you expect this. evening to go? Obviously Patrick Mahomes. comes back early than expected. Travis. Kelce obviously wanting to go out in a. different way or maybe he's got three to. five years left. Still got stone cold. Chris Jones on the defensive side, but. Bo Nick and Shawn Peyton only going to. get better. What are your thoughts and.
expectations for this evening? >> Yeah, I think for Kansas City, I would. expect two things to pay attention to. that give them a chance versus a really. good Denver defense. One, do they go. under center more? I know that's been a. wave in the NFL over the past year. It. felt like I haven't watched every game. so far, but I think I've seen like 13 or. so. Most I've seen teams put. quarterbacks under center in maybe eight. years. So, will Kansas City do that? because it's not who they are. Um, I.
think that'll help this offensive line. versus a good front. I think they can. create in the only way is to create. explosive plays from the under center. play action, change the launch point for. Patrick a little bit how Buffalo did for. Josh Allen versus a good line um. defensive line. And then I think will. Andy Reid and Eric Benemy be a very. similar version of Kyle Shanahan against. the Rams. I think we saw the Rams see. nine different screens. Nine. Um, Kansas. City's always been a screen team. They.
haven't been as good the past couple. years. Offensive line is not good enough. against this defensive line to just line. up and play. You got to keep them off. balance. And so, if they do that, I. think they have a shot. Denver's defense. is fantastic. Um, Certan will cover the. go-to person off formation. So, who's. going to be that second and third option. to win? And then Kansas City's defense. How well do the rookies play? Peter. Woods, Mansor Delane, Arm Mason Thomas. Those are three rookies on that defense.
that got to play at a high level. Um, versus a very. complete Denver offense. So, um, I've. got concerns how they can protect. Patrick Mahomes. That's the starting. point. >> Okay. They're favored by two and a half. at home. Patrick Mahomes has never lost. to Denver at home. Uh, what are you. expecting for weather here? It's been. hot as hell. I feel like I've been. sweating for 3 weeks. >> It doesn't feel that hot outside. >> It doesn't. It actually feels pretty. good. Feels like a perfect day. >> Yeah. It's okay right now. Yeah. How. tall are you? This is disgusting. I'm. getting Sicily honored. >> 69. >> No, he's massive.
>> I'm like six I think a little north is. 6'5. >> Yeah. Not like Russell Wilson yesterday. on the CBS halftime show. That was. tough. >> Get that guy. Russell Wilson's Yeah, but. his brain is good. I I thought he did. well on TV as well. I I I was excited to. hear all the ballers talk ball yesterday. across all the networks. It was. fantastic to see. Last question for me. before the boys have some for you, Dan. Olowski. Uh Ben Johnson came out this. offseason and said, "We're going to be a. highscoring offense in the history of. the NFL. We're going to be better. everybody." Caleb Williams and Foxy even.
said this as a Detroit Lions fan. Caleb. Williams looked a little bit like Jared. Goff yesterday. Yes. >> Caleb Williams seemingly is more. entrenched in the offense that Ben. Johnson wants some run while also doing. all the Caleb Williams on top of. that. Is this the dream that everybody. was having whenever we match these two. together? And how much further can we. go? because Caleb Williams was not. satisfied at all seemingly. >> Yeah, you see Caleb make throws that. just guys can't make this throw to KMT. is insane. Um it's you can't throw.
that's good coverage. You cannot throw. the ball better. The one going to his. left in the scramble mode. This is. insane as well. The fact that he can. throw it that quickly on the move to his. left. Um and then the in timing the in. time stuff he had multiple throws where. they were kind of creating levels short. and high. Um, and he played on time and. efficient. So, like you're seeing that. combination of the efficient pass game. which we've wanted with the plus plus. playmaking. I will say this. So, it was. awesome.
>> That Carolina Panthers defensive tape is. putrid. >> WHOA. >> He's got his notes over here. >> Blown coverage because of motion. Blown. coverage because of motion. Blown. coverage because of motion. Blown. coverage cover because of motion. You. let him. You lost contain. You lost. contain. You lost contain. So, what is. that? Seven or eight clips that are just. that's bad defensive football more than. jaw-dropping offensive performance. >> Are you a Caleb hater? I didn't know. this. Is this Is that what you are? Cuz. you love Ben Johnson, right? Aren't you. Ben Johnson? Oh, you're not a Ben.
Johnson guy. >> No, I'm a Ben Johnson. >> Cuz Ben Johnson has beef with who? What. tree? >> Lafleur. >> Laflor. Yeah. >> Are you? >> He's pretty tight with Lafleur. >> Oh, I forgot about all. Johnson ever. Well, you just said. Carolina Panthers defense. >> Well, they scored 60, so there's got to. be some part. >> Yeah. Who's. different one? >> Who's his. >> I think. You can't do that.
>> That's just a fact. >> You can't do that. >> Making sense now. >> Come on. He's being rabid at you, >> boy. >> Dana, did the did the motion catch him. off guard or what they should have. expected? >> I would tell you this. Yeah, I would. tell you this, AJ. I don't know what the. numbers say right now. I would I would. think that this is probably the worst. defensive performance by the league when. it comes to handling motion that I've. seen in years. Um, we saw it last night. in Dallas multiple times, just basic.
motions just causing total chaos for a. defense defense. So, I don't think. Carolina's by themselves. We saw it in. the Chargers game as well. So, I think. the defenses as a whole across the NFL. really struggled with adjusting to and. handling motion. Chicago was great. The. in timing stuff and the plus+ state. stuff was awesome. >> Okay. >> The there's a compliment. >> The Panthers defense was putrid in seven. or eight times when it comes to handling. certain situations. >> Well, people are going to say the. Chicago Pan or Chicago Bears defense.
potentially not great either with how. much Panthers put up. But that was kind. of the story of the weekend is how many. points. There's a chance for a record to. be broke tonight here on this particular. field. Excited for that. I'm not the. only one who has questions for you. 6'6. Danowski. >> Jeez Louise. Debut has a question for. you back in the film, you know. >> Yeah, Dano, you are the authority on. quarterbacks and I have a quarterback CA. guy, Jackson Dart, who just talked about. Dallas defense and look, they did not. play great guy. >> He is, you know, don't act like you. don't know. >> You got the rolodex in that notebook.
>> That was that was to cut guys loose left. and right. But uh Dart Dart was in in. total control, full control. Matt Nag, I. think, did a great job of having to. prepare Greg Roman with the run game. What was your takeaway with Jackson. Dart's performance last night? >> Yeah, it's the fastest he's played with. his eyes since he came into the NFL. We. saw some of the quarterback designed. run. I'm shocked that Dallas wasn't. prepared for that and that situation. We've seen that from Lamar in Baltimore. with Greg Roman. Fastest his eyes have. played in that young career. uh the.
likely matchups that were created. I. like that the fact that they got him. onto the perimeter. Um but I think the. recognition was a big deal. Part of that. was some of those motions, those. indicators. Um but the the matchups that. allowed him to kind of think clearly uh. and think quickly I think were the like. really big difference makers. Um he saw. it well, the ball came out well. They. created really good kind of easier. concepts for him to read. He throws the. flat route three times in a row. I mean. this is just a totally busted coverage. that. >> strictly off motion. And so, um, I was.
very impressed with the way that Jackson. played. You know, I'm I was a dart guy. coming out and so, um, you know, >> Yeah, we know. So, >> I think I think that the way they. created some of those matchups, um, by. personnel debut because they would put. Likely and Ricard on the field, what we. saw in Baltimore, >> and it seemed that Dallas constantly. just wanted to play nickel to it. And, um, they create, they've got neighbors. getting covered by linebackers at times. Um, that's a really good feel by Likely. here. So, uh, really good offensive line. performance as well. Yeah, putting that.
on his back shoulder. >> I like Jackson Dart running still. I, you know, cuz there could have been a. little bit of a gunshyness, especially. with how much we were talking about him. in that blue tent and when he's hurt, obviously he could potentially not have. a full career that we're all expecting. Get Neighbors back on the field cuz John. Harbaugh tackled him during a warm-up. Then you get obviously likely seemingly. being open all of the time. >> Well, think about it like this. They. started the game, new era, new regime, new identity. the first play of the. game, they put uh unbalanced, so they. take the left tackle, they put him over.
to the right, they've got Ricard on the. field, they've got um Scataboo on the. field, and they just run your. traditional power play. Just here comes. first snap of the game, the first pass. of the game is just a hitch to Malik. Neighbors. So, I like the fact that the. message was sent from the Giants like. we're going to be a physical group. This. is the first play of the game. We're. going to run the ball right at you and. then Neighbors is going to get the first. catch of the game. and Neighbors looks. awesome. He looks absolutely. outstanding. And Isaiah likely could not.
get covered in matchups. So, uh, they. look legit. Like, this is not a fluke. The tape was not a fluke. And I would. say this, too. The Giants defensive line. dominated. Dominated. One-on-1's. dominated. >> Yeah. And they move on from Sexy Dexi. How you going to be able to do it? They. do just fine. And then the Dallas. Cowboys felt like there was a little bit. of momentum. Didn't like GP dropping. those balls, >> man. Several, >> especially on a franchise tag year, bro. Hey, come on. Come on. you need to go. get your money right now. Not that he's. not going to for the rest of the year, but that was kind of alarming to me. Cidi obviously has a good game. But. every time Dallas was seemingly getting.
back in it, we're building Big Mo. We're. building Big Mo. The Giants answered. Felt like it was some real maturity. early in this John Harbaugh era. >> Big time adult operation. Um did not. beat themselves. Very efficient on. offense. Quarterback played at a high. clip. The defense, every guy. I mean, there's multiple. Now, there's a lot of. penalties, but that like that drive is a. perfect example of the difference of the. teams. He throws the same route to the. same player position-wise three straight. times. The Cowboys and really the same. guys load the coverage three straight.
plays. It's shocking that that would. happen. Even in week one for me, it's. still shocking. But the the boredom of. making that throw, I think, is a a sign. of growth by Jackson Dart in the. offense. And I just didn't look like a. fluke. It looked like the the Giants can. flat out play. >> I like that he kept the pain on the. face. >> I like that. I like that he got the. paint on his face. I like the scataboos. back. I like seemingly that that team. has come together around John Harbaugh's. tough, hard-nosed training camp. Good. for the Giants. You guys might be for. real. And also fun team to watch. Got.
dogs across the board. Scatteroo, it's. great to see you back. He hits that. pylon though. >> on that back flip. >> I mean, we need a little better. awareness on these back flips. You said. I won't do it on a slippy service and he. said there was like a cushiony service. It's like, well, what about when there's. a pylon on the surface, Scataboo? Let's. make sure we. >> He just cracks the pylon in half. That's. >> so close. I don't know. They got cameras. in those things, though. Not Not that a. Scataboo couldn't take that out, but I. like where the Giants are. Now, let's. talk about another NFC team. Uh, completely different reaction from the.
fans. Ty Schmidt has a question for you. Dan Orlovski. >> Yeah, Dan. Listen, I know it's early, so. I don't want to go crazy, but at this. point, you know, this this just. keeps happening to the Packers over and. over and over and over and over and over. and over again. Uh, that's. >> And it goes Yeah. and it goes on and on. and on and on and on and on and on and. on and on and I'm sick of it. Um, what. whose whose shoulders do you put this? Like how much of this is the floor? Like. why can't these guys close out a game?
They look great for three quarters and. then the fourth quarter begins and they. just look like they don't know how to. play or they're scared or they I mean, I. don't know what it is. The O line. obviously didn't look great, but how big. of a a red flag is this for you for the. Packers moving forward? >> Significant red flag for me. You can't. close out games when your offensive line. is getting absolutely destroyed. Jordan. Love will not make the season if the. offensive line is going to play that. way. He will not make the year. The and. Ty, the only way that they or reason.
they looked good through the first three. quarters, Jordan Love was out of his. mind. He made six just outrageous throws. against all odds type of situations. Um. that offensive line is is not is is not. going to keep him upright and on the. field unless they get a lot better real. quickly. That ball's tipped so it's not. a big deal. Um listen, I think it's as. undisiplined a performance that we've. seen from Matt Laflur's group and I love. Matt Laflur. Nine defensive penalties. Are some of them tic-tacy? Absolutely. I.
think the interception penalty uh is. absolute dog trash. Yeah. >> But nine nine defensive penalties at the. end of the day, like that's way too. much, especially you're giving the I. think four of them were either to take. the ball away or convert third downs for. Minnesota's offense. So, um I'm way more. concerned. I think the defense can clean. up the penalties and you're going to. catch a break not getting it called. The. offensive line is not good enough. It. was an issue last year. I thought it had. been corrected. I know Flores is a.
lunatic and blitzing all the time. It's. got to get better. >> But okay, so on that note, AJ has a. question for you. >> Yeah, Dana, as a quarterback, when. Flores is dialing up like this and we. see him compared to the rest of the. league, like they they dial up pressure. and they seem to get home very often. I. guess as a QB, as an offensive. coordinator, what do you do? Like how do. you defeat this? >> First thing is you have to go first. down, second down, first down mentality. wise. You you have to you can never. think of, oh, let's get the third and. three, third and four. Good luck. Second. thing is you have to have a rolodex for.
your protections. So one of the things. that I learned from, you know, being. around some coaches like Jim Bob Cter. was one of them. Uh Payton Manning was. one of them, not as a coach but a player. is if you think you're going to get to. the line of scrimmage versus this. defense and you're going to figure out. what they're doing in 3 seconds, change, communicate, and get everybody. protected, you're dead. I mean, there's. seven guys at the line of scrimmage. Now. it's third and 17. So Flores's thought. is, well, if you throw the ball short, we'll all rally, but he's got seven guys. up there. You only have six in.
protection. So, one of them is more than. likely going to come free. You got. droppers out there. So, you can't think. that you're going to be perfect. It's. like, okay, we're going to run this. protection on this third down, this. protection on this second down, this. protection on third down, and just kind. of rolodex it rather than trying to be. perfect because Flores will figure it. out. Um, you got to change your launch. point. Like, we'll get into it, I'm. sure. I thought one of the great things. that Buffalo did yesterday was. consistently change Josh Allen's launch. point. Constantly move where he was. throwing the ball from. Green Bay didn't.
do that. And if you're going to stand. there at the same spot against that. defense in passing situations, you're. dead. >> Yeah. Is that where you ran out of the. back of the end zone at? >> Uh not the new one, the old one. >> Metro place out. >> Roof collapsed. >> Yeah, they got loud fans. >> Very loud. Jordan Love was feeling that. the whole time. I think, you know, especially in that fourth quarter when. that momentum just started piling on, it. almost felt inevitable, did it not? And. I don't want to talk to AJ and Tai, who.
obviously have Packers, uh, uh, AJ's. all-time leading tackler for the. Packers. Tai's an owner of the Packers. It did start feeling inevitable there, didn't Aaron Jones scores that. touchdown. >> Aaron Jones scores that touchdown. It's. like, oh my god, the Packers are dead. 642. >> Go ahead. >> No. Yeah, I when they went for it on. fourth down and didn't get it, I was. like, "Oh they're going to lose. this game." Because it it really did. like up until that point, it kind of. felt like everything was going to be. okay. And then at this point, like I. didn't think it was going to get as out. of out of hand as it did, but I knew at.
that point I was like, "Oh boy, they're. going to lose." And they did. And the. Carson Wentz experience is certainly. something now that the Minnesota Vikings. are maybe going to ride for the next. couple of weeks. JJ Kyler JJ Kyler JJ. Kyler. >> get this graphic. >> Carson Wentz. >> The Carson Wentz experience is the real. deal. We had a chance to live it. whenever he was in Indianapolis Colt. The highs. Oh man, >> you know, you get up to the top. >> Kennywood. >> when he's up at Kennywood. Yeah.
>> Bam's Revenge and also Steel Curtain, which uh. >> Steel Curtain actually has no puller on. it. It's just Pittsburgh steel. And. >> what do you mean? >> It has no puller on it. >> There's no You're just the steel. It's. just momentum, gravity, and the steel. that that makes it so And I think it. goes How fast it go? I don't want to say. a number. >> 190 mph. >> kilometers. >> I don't think any of that is accurate, but the Carson Wentz experience. >> both of them. >> It's fun. Okay. There is always the. potential inevitable and you Carson.
Wentz's biggest supporter knows that. THERE'S A. THAT'S going to come along this but. Kevin O'Connell potentially perfect for. Carson Wentz and I know last year he. didn't he wasn't undefeated but it's. like another year in the offseason. knowing the Kevin Oonnell offense. probably quite a head start over Kyler. whenever it comes to that particular. factor and then whenever you talk about. knowing defenses and coverages and. things that have happened Carson Wentz. has been there done that the guy was in. MVP discussions can Kevin Oonnell make. him great all the time cuz that's what.
we're looking for in Carson Wentz, right? >> I don't know if you're going to get. great all the time anymore from Carson. because there is that scattered element. still in his game. But I do think that. if they can get him to just play a. little bit more calmer now their defense. should help. There's obviously a. superstar. >> easy to do that. What are you going to. shoot him with a trink? >> But there's still moments there's still. moments when he plays good calm under. control football. Um Hawk made some big. catches. Oliver made some big patches. catches. JJ made some big catches. So,
he plays for moments under control and. then he has moments when you're he still. has the headscratching play that's. probably going to be a part of his game. forever. He gets bailed out by some of. those penalties that you know take away. missed third down throws or. interceptions. But, um it'll be. interesting to see once if Kyler's. cleared. Hopefully, he's going to be. okay. What they do. I do think it gives. you the comfort of he gives us chances. to win games and you're not going to. have the disaster that last year was. >> Yeah, he was fun to watch yesterday. He.
was fun to watch with the Colts. He's. the first uh backup since 1950, Fran. Tarkington, to come in and have 300 or. three touchdowns and no turnovers. Backup quarterbacks don't get a lot of. reps with the team. Obviously, Carson. Wentz doesn't need him cuz every play is. supposed to be a touchdown. And you talk. about him playing calmer. >> I don't think so, brother. That's why. he's on the top of a roller coaster, right? >> That that ain't calm. >> That's That's why you're going to have. games that you're going, "Yep." And then. you're going to have games or moments. that, you know, are going to hurt you. So, it's kind of the style of player.
that he is right now. >> Good enough, though. >> You said you said the Minnesota Vikings, if uh if they have average quarterback. play, >> they can contend. >> Can Carson Wentz do average quarterback. play? >> Honestly, I would tell you it's probably. like a three-point shooter. if you get. there because the the roller coaster. that you're talking how long can he stay. on the the high and avoid those extended. lows. >> Tom Brady or Jameus Winston at any time.
>> You're the expert. >> Legit. >> A lot of whoopy woos. >> A lot of whoop. >> It's easy to do in Minnesota to stay at. top though. It's a good offensive line. Obviously, plenty of people. talentwise. Another one. >> He's doing all those things, man. I. watched him balance a football himself. on the ground. He took the ball, would. have fell to hell with this thing. What. is this? A football? Goes down on the. ground, stands back up, throws it in. triple coverage. >> You know what's crazy? He used to. >> grabs it first time. >> He was when he was younger, he used to.
do the whole like I think he had one. versus Washington eight years ago type. thing where he ducks under the pressure. Like four defenders are going right. towards him and he like ducks under it, gets out of it, makes a play. And he's. been beat up since then, right? The last. 5 years he's just been beat up. He did. it again yesterday. It must be like a. reaction thing where like two defensive. tackles will be running at him. He like. somehow just continues to and he's. massive. >> just to try to duck under them and I'm. like, "How are you still doing the. duck?". >> Toughest son of a on earth. >> by far.
>> This guy's got a bull. He's got a bull. rider body and mentality. He just straps. in looking to go 77. I don't know if you. guys saw uh Did you see what that bull. did to that guy at PBR. >> when it kicked him into the fence? >> Chocked him. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. I don't know if we have the video, but I Nice clean shot out of this bull. on a bull rider that I I don't think. I've ever seen before. I I mean, >> he made him an advertisement that one. >> Mhm. >> Yeah. He got poster. He He got literally. posterized by this. He became a poster.
on the wall of the Yeah. Watch this. >> But. >> And then his spur obviously ends up in. the in the linen up there. Jesus pass. >> I'm not supposed to like Why aren't you. supposed. but but on that note that's Carson Wentz. football right there. Okay. >> He's the bull. >> That is what Carson Wentz football. >> You get the awards Dan. >> If I could explain the Carson Wentz. experience and one thing it would be.
what that bull just did to that rider. right there. Cuz you see at the. beginning Carson's on top. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We're doing this thing. And all of. a sudden it goes out of nowhere and he's. left-handed shot put in a zero yard pick. six to lose the AFC South and it's like. that's boom bang pow boom bull hits you. right off the wall and then he gets his. leg out broke his hip let me get my leg. out of here and then he gets right back. on top of that bull again. That's Carson. Wentz experience and I'm pumped that the. Minnesota Vikings are doing it. Maybe. Kevin Okonnell can find the best version. of Carson Wentz. Now speaking of finding.
the best version, have you seen what the. Baltimore Ravens did? Connor has a. question for you. Dano. Yeah, Dan, it. was remarkable yesterday in Lucas Oil. watching the Ravens just absolutely. dismantle the Colts. It wasn't even. close, I believe. >> Hey, listen. That is not what I thought. this was going to be. >> No, no. I was I was about to say Shane. Styen actually had a beautiful first 15. They walk down the field. Jonathan. Taylor scores the first touchdown of the. game. They go up seven nothing. >> of the season. Yeah. Score the first one. out of any team. Just just wonderful.
And all of a sudden, we're thinking, hold on, the Colts are doing the cool. dance move. That was right in front of. the suite. It was incredible. Uh, and. then Lamar Jackson and Declan Doyle put. 41 on the Colts head. Uh, what are they. doing offensively schematically that. you're seeing that makes you think this. will be the best version of Lamar and. the Baltimore Ravens? And are you on the. same page as us where this might be the. greatest football team of all time and. they could go 20 and0 and win the Super. Bowl? >> Yeah. So Declan Doyle was the question.
mark going into really the year along. with the wide receivers. One, I love the. fact that they've gone back to under. center motion. Uh the first snap of the. game, they get into condensed splits, ball fake, Lamar out to his left, Z. Flowers runs that beautiful kind of cell. the crosser and come back to the corner. route and it's a perfect throw. Um I. love the zone. I love this. The the. space that is created for those two. players is awesome. The way that they. used Z is very similar to way that we've. seen almost the Rams use Cooper Cup back.
in the day. We saw him line up in the. slot. We saw him line up in the stack. We saw him lined up in the back field. I. thought Zay's awareness of what the. defense was doing was probably the. biggest thing. We know he's twitchy and. sudden and crazy fast. He has so many. clips on that tape of winning, eyes back. to the quarterback. Getting past the. defender, eyes back to the quarterback. Zone sitting in that soft spot. So, I. loved that. We all know Lamar's amazing, but Declan Doyle first time being a play. caller. I think the fact that he kind of. goes out and attacks that way. It's. funny because Anthony Calhoun guy in.
Indie who's obviously a prominent uh. legend. >> Yeah. Great dude. He texted me on. Saturday. He's like, "What do you. think?" I was like, "They're going to. get they're going to put 40 on the. Colts." And he was like, "What do you. mean?" I'm like, "They're going to get. absolutely smoked by. >> No, Danis.". >> Yeah. I mean, just because this offense. >> with Lamar, >> why you looking at him like that? This. offense has always kind of like propped. up good quarterbacks. >> But what the hell do you know about this. Colts team? What did you know? What did. you know? >> Well, I know they're not good. They're.
not good enough on the perimeter right. now offensively. Alec is not healthy. enough. And so you're you're and is. really good, but isn't like that goto. dominate people. I don't think their. defense can match up up front with. Baltimore's offensive line in the way. that they were going to move Lamar. Derek. Yeah. So, um, and this new new. play caller, you didn't know who the. play caller was kind of going to be as. the game went on. Uh, so I think the two. biggest takeaways for me are Declan. Doyle, uh, and then the defense. I was.
I'm not shocked that the Chargers. defense looked. >> that bad on tape. >> and Baltimore's defense looked that. good. >> I um I'd like to tell you that I don't. like the way you were talking about the. Colts before the game against the. Ravens. Okay. Because did you not see. the first 10 weeks of the season last. year? How come you didn't tell me, hey, maybe it's not going to be exactly like. that when the Indianapolis Colts were. the number one team in the league, had. the best offense in the league, and. everything was going hunky freaking as.
you would say, or sorry, fudging dory. for the Indianapolis Colts. You said we. weren't a good enough up front. We've. paid everybody up front. Le two lot is a. first round draft pick. The Forest. Buckner's been paid. Grover Stewart's. been paid. Our entire front has been. paid. We've paid a lot of guys. Sauce. Gardner outside. We've paid a lot of. guys. Moody on the other side. We've. paid We. >> buying them. >> This is This is supposed to be our This. is a very veteran team we have here for. the Colts. You thought we're going to. lose by 40 going into that thing. >> cuz great play callers minimized great.
defensive lines. We And I I think Declan. Doyle going into it, I thought he was. going to be really good. >> and he he minimized a good defensive. line. Um, I just don't think that you. guys are talented enough on the. perimeter right now. I think the Michael. Pitman Jr. trade is a big deal. Um, >> you guys, >> yeah, I'm not making. >> Pitman was awesome yesterday. >> Yeah, I was he really. >> I think he's a good player. That's a. lost. >> He was our leading receiver yesterday. >> He's a great player. >> You don't have anybody offensively to.
really handle Kyle Hamilton. I was. really impressed with Baltimore's. defense. >> Okay. >> I thought they were doing um things very. late that made it hard on the offense. Well, good for you to see that before it. came because I was walking in there. thinking we were just fine. I thought. this was going to be the Colts. Remember, we brought everybody back. except for Michael Pitman who I did. collapse whenever I heard he was traded. away from the team because I know we had. to make a decision between Pierce and. Pitman. It's like, can't we all work. out? Everybody else is able to do salary. cap gymnastics. How come we're not able. to do so? It did feel like it was a big. loss. Long season though, Dan, let's.
change our tune because the Ravens might. be the greatest team to ever play. Now, there is uh some other questions. lingering around the NFL. Tone has a. question for you, Dano. >> Yeah, I do. Dan, obviously, it was. against the Browns. Um, but the Browns. traditionally have a solid defense. I. know it's a a new DC and a new coaching. staff, but they're normally solid. But. what Liam Cohen and Trevor Lawrence did. to that Browns defense. It looked like. they could literally do anything they. wanted. It's kind of like Trevor picked. up from last year, the second half of.
last season. What were your thoughts on. the Jaguars and them this season after. seeing week one against the Bratz? Yeah, remarkable what confidence does to a. player. That this is the transition from. Trevor Lawrence. Two years ago, he was. about as uncomfortable and lacking. confidence as you can be. And throughout. that season last year with Liam Cohen, you guys remember the Bengals moment and. then him kind of waving him off. And. then ever since then, this guy has truly. walked onto the field and played like he. thinks he's the best player on the. field. There is just this arrogance.
almost. Everyone talks about Josh Allen. and arm arrogance. We're starting to see. Trevor Lawrence transition into that. world. Uh I love the three wide. receivers that they have. Parker. Washington is phenomenal. He I think. that that that catch is sick. I think. he's becoming one of the best number. three wide receivers. That's quotations. because he's probably as good as a lot. of twos wide receivers in the NFL. I. think one of the things that was really. interesting from a schematic standpoint, and Debbut and AJ could probably speak. to it better than I could, Tone, but. they used so many cool motions to.
stretch the defense horizontally to then. attack kind of the voids in the defense. Uh some late motions that would like. stretch like this one, you stretch. people immediately, then watch the. release and then the right side of that. screen, you see the linebacker who's. going for the motion and the nickel kind. of run into each other. That's not by. mistake. Watch this. Watch the. linebacker nickel. Now, >> they're following each other. You see. them? They're when they stack. Me and. Debb actually talked about this before. the show today. When they stack each. other, especially if you're manto man,
when they stacking on top of each other, that makes it really difficult because. then all of a sudden, boom, they're. breaking one way or the other and you. don't know who. >> you're talking to those those offensive. guys, right? >> Yeah. The offensive guys at the bottom. here stacked. >> Yeah. So, both defenders, even with zone. coverages or man coverages, whenever. you're matching, cuz we have rules. We're like, "Hey, I'm matching final two. or I'm matching final three." Right now. with this pitcher, we don't know who the. final two or final three is because. they're kind of in that two two- two. train. And then once they break out, it. it creates that much clearer picture uh. for Trevor Lawrence. And that's when you.
can really allow that's what I see from. coaches like when coaches can really. allow the quarterback's talent to take. over. Like you talk about Jackson Dart. playing fast with his eyes. Like once. you can paint that clear picture and. then hey, they can pull the trigger or. say hey tuck it and run. Uh so Liam Liam. has really unlocked Trevor Lawrence. He's been phenomenal. >> Yeah. and Liam going into that locker. room afterwards with the and then him. this offseason. Nobody's talking about. us, you know, we're talking about all. this other stuff. Nobody's talking about. the Jacksonville Jaguars. Feel like. they've been drawing from that all off. season as well. What are your.
projections for the Jacksonville Jags. after one week of play? >> The Browns are. >> they're shite, they're saying. So, let's. not overreact maybe too much, but maybe. the Browns aren't absolute shite. Maybe. the Jags are just a really good football. team as well. Yeah, I I think that the. the Jaguars have to be a team that we. just sit there and say don't be. surprised that they're making a deep. January run. They got a coach who's. outstanding play call in designwise. It. seems like the team loves them. Quarterback is confident as any. quarterback in the NFL right now. They. got three receivers that can flat out.
go. They got a two tight ends, but one. that's really good. They got a good. back. This defensive line is hunting. Their defensive coordinator is a um. budding star in this league. I thought. they covered really well on the. perimeter as well. So, um you can watch. teams play and be like, "Yeah, I don't. care who the opponent is. You can sit. there and say that that's a team that is. going to be a very difficult team to. match up against." Um this throw is. outrageous, by the way. So, Jacksonville. for real. And Lam Cohen, he's Lam. Cohen's got a little bit of like Ben.
Johnson to me. A little bit of like. >> um I want to say this in the right way. >> No, no. Say. you say Say what you want to say. He's. got a little bit of like arrog good in a. good way arrogant prick, >> you know, like a little bit of edge. >> So, it's a little bit of. >> No, it's not. >> me. It's actually. >> Yeah. >> But what though? What am I saying? >> Fudge you. >> Yeah. >> He's got a lot of fudge you in him.
>> Yeah. I think he's got a lot of that. And I think that's the team. >> Oh, no. >> Well, because it's never fudge me, you. know? It's always fudge you. Is that. what you're saying? Sure. Yeah. >> You ever fudge yourself? >> Just I didn't know because it was a. fudge me, fudge you situation. The next. one is fudge within. You know, >> you're the best, man. >> Okay. Thanks. You're the best, dude. Thank you for coming. >> Jacksonville's good. Yeah. >> Yeah, I think they are good. Now, we. don't know what teams are going to be, especially after week one. But there's a. chance we might know what's going on in.
Nashville. AJ has the last question for. you here, Dano. >> Yeah, Dano, what's your thoughts on the. Tennessee Titans, especially their. offense? who know Brian Dable comes in. as the offensive coordinator. Do they. have a chance this year? Are they going. to be all right? >> Yeah. Disappointing answer for me here, AJ. That's like one of the two or three. games I haven't watched yet. So, before. I make. >> to be honest, why would you? >> Yeah, that would be the last. >> I don't want to comment on the game if I. haven't seen it. So, >> they suck, Dan. >> It was brutal. >> I saw some clips. I saw some clips of.
the Jets looking sharp. I haven't seen. enough of of the Tennessee game. I. haven't seen the Tennessee game to kind. of comment on it. So. >> I want to let That's a good. >> I'm going to start throwing that. >> That's honesty. >> That is honesty. >> That's best prophecy. >> It should be the last game you watch, too. >> Yeah. Well, okay. So, let's talk about. some of the teams that look much worse. than we could have ever expected. >> All right, I'll give them to you. Okay. >> How many subjects is that notebook? >> Okay. >> Is this one a week though? Five subject. >> Five subject. Um, I thought the I.
thought the the Lions coverage unit in. the second half has to give you some. concerns in the interior offensive line. Jarro was great, Gibbs was great. Um, on. RAW was awesome, but they just didn't. win any one-on-one balls. That's got to. be concerning. Uh, I did not like. Washington's offense spacing wise, pass. concept wise. I don't think Jaden saw. the field well. >> Um, Philadelphia's offensive line still. not good enough. Um, Atlanta. obviously dealing with a a back of. quarterback situation. Pittsburgh, I.
don't think it's sustainable. >> Um, it's not sustainable. >> What do you mean it's not sustainable? >> Pittsburgh offensively, I just don't. think it's sustainable. Um, it's a lot. of still like the, "Hey, DK, go run the. vertical route. If we connect, we'll be. okay. If we don't, we're going to be. kind of chasing points." I thought Aaron. drifted and made some throws over guys. >> That was impressive. Um, I talked about. Carolina's defense. That's got to get. better. Um, the Chargers offense. One, way too much pistol, way too much gun. Way too much pistol, way too much gun.
Uh, two, I think Justin got locked on to. receivers. far too often. >> Um, meaning just like I'm only throwing. it to this guy because I think he's. going to be open instead of getting to. that second or and or third read. And. that happens in that McDaniel Shanahan. system. We've talked about that a little. bit of like the quarterback can become. so convicted because they think the play. call is so good and it's worked all. eight times that you repped it in. practice. >> that you don't get to that second or. third read. So their defense was not.
good. That was the probably the biggest. takeaway is how bad they were in the the. distribution of rotation or pressures. deep. But AJ, you know it better than. me. I think one of the big takeaways. with Cincinnati would be Cincinnati won. and Joe did not play well. Uh, I thought. Joe played really slow from that. perspective, but winning without your. quarterback, especially Burrow, playing. well, I think is a really positive thing. for now. I thought Cincinnati's defense. played better than the box score kind of. showed as well. Um, so yeah.
>> All right. So, those were who bummed. bummed you out. That's what it sounds. like. Those teams bummed you out a. little bit. >> Chargers bummed me out cuz I was. expecting a lot out of McDaniel and. Justin and Miss Beer. >> Yeah, Jenny from there. >> Everything they had going on. I was. really hoping for a lot there, especially with Jim Harbaugh and. McDaniel having like such a cool. postgame press conference. Instead, all. they're doing is hoing and homing over. here and all we hear is McDaniel having. an answer. We assume they're going to. get better. Okay, so defensively way too. soft and way too dis uh displaced. I.
would imagine that gets better, but no. Jesse Mter. Offensively, I've said it, way too much pistol, way too much gun. Um he's got to have a much bit better. plan for pressure. their offensive line. did not get backside in the run game. Dude, I'm telling you, the best receiver. that doesn't get talked about in. football is Mike Wilson. Marv's got a. great go ball catch there, but Mike. Wilson's so stinking good, man. He's so. good. So, yeah, I think it'll get better. for the Chargers, but there's a lot to. clean up. There's about as disappointing. a tape offense and defense that we had.
in the league. >> They got the worst schedule, too, by the. way. >> Conan got They also have the worst. schedule because that was another thing. that people were talking about was like, "Hey, tough loss to the Cardinals, but. they're going to be able to bounce back, you know, to everything that you guys. are talking about now." And then someone. uh took a screenshot and just kind of. showed everyone the next, you know, 10. games they have. It is a gauntlet. They. they have Vegas for sure, but then if. you just look right there, I mean, it is. probably the worst schedule in the NFL. >> Denver, they come here. >> Patrick will probably be like fully.
healthy then. Like, my god, >> it it is a gauntlet. I was geared. >> Holy smokes. >> Jeez. >> Yeah, >> dude. If they don't beat the Raiders, you're. >> though. Let's talk about the Raiders. Kirk Kirk's got to not give the damn. ball away. Okay. Genty can play. Kubak's. going to dial it up. The defense is. going to be outrageous. Are the Raiders. not ass? I think the Raiders aren't ass. >> I haven't seen that GAME YET TO. >> WATCH. WE WATCHING BALL ANYMORE, MAN. >> Another good decision. That's another. good decision. I haven't watched.
Jets Titans. >> Okay. Yeah, we have. minority the way you are. Um but we. don't love. >> your priorities are right. >> Yeah. I like you're telling the truth, too, cuz this might be a new thing for. you. This is cool. >> I'm I have I take pretty immense pride. in telling the truth. >> Yeah, but every once in a while you just. give a take that you certainly did not. watch contradict each other. >> True, dude. >> Yeah. So, Conor's got a list of them. down. >> Oh, yeah. I got I got them all right. here, Dano. And also, let me just.
mention as well, you picked Joe Burrow. to be your MVP this season. And funny. enough, Joe Burrow and the Bengals have. the easiest strength of schedule this. year. So, kind of contradictory of what. Drake May that entire conversation was. last year. >> Remember what you did? >> Strength of schedule is a stupid. conversation because it's about the what. the team did the season before and teams. are different every year. >> Exactly. >> Yeah. Well, did you say that about May. >> whenever that stuff whenever you're. votes about the present season, >> not the season before.
>> Yeah, but you kept saying like Drake's. playing against Shay competition, man. Do. >> you guys have to stop making things? >> Oh, yeah. You're right. You're right. You're right. Cuz people will cut that. and then they'll continue to kill you. for it. Yeah. A lot of the things we say. Dan says he has said similar things. We. are just kind of sprucing it up a little. bit for our own enjoyment, which we do. understand that there are ripple. effects. So, we apologize for that. Uh, tonight final uh take on this evening's. game. >> Yeah, I just want to see how Patrick. looks. I mean, it's truly remarkable the.
fact that he's playing in this game. It. really is. This is not normal. Um, and. just how he settles in. I mean, he's a. crazy competitor. I would imagine the. juices will be a billion tonight. And so. kind of how he settles in, I just. believe they got to play philosophically. different offensively in today's NFL. So. a little bit more in the center, a. little bit more kind of allowing this. offensive line to lean on people. protecting Patrick. Let's not get him. hit. And those perimeter players versus. man coverage. Remember in man, the. defense chooses the matchup and zone,
the offense does. So when Denver plays. man with Patrick Certan, they're going. to take away the person that they think. in that setting is going to be the most. viable threat. And then that second or. third person's got to win. >> All right. Well, Dana, we appreciate. you. Good to see you. You're going to be. live on NFL Live here. >> Yep. >> Anything else? What do you got? >> Uh, no. I think that's basically the. whole league, man. >> Hell yeah. >> What you just covered? Well, except for. the games you didn't watch cuz I thought. we had full commitment to ball. Turns. out maybe. And maybe the maybe the. season starts next week for you, Dan.
>> It's 12:45. >> Wake up. >> Stop, Dan. Wake up, Dan. >> Sunday, dude. Not Sunday. >> 12:45 games HAVEN'T EVEN STARTED YET. >> Wake up. Boom. >> Have a great season. Wait for. >> love. >> Thank you. >> But you and I can side text about that. comment. >> Hell yeah. >> Uhoh. >> Oh, what do you guys think? >> What comment? >> That one. He was like, he's a CIA guy.
>> YOU'RE FUDGING DEAD. >> OH. OH, YOU'RE GOING TO CRY, DAN. >> I thought you had a good tank today. I. don't like what what's going on here. I. think he had a good performance today. at the end. I don't like. >> No, it's great. The boys. >> Okay, good. All right, ladies and. gentlemen, CA client Dan Olowski. >> Yeah, there's no reason for us to do. that. There was no reason for us. >> What's the side com side text going? >> Well, that's what he's saying. He said. he wants to talk to Debot about bringing.
up the CIA thing like. >> never again, Darius. >> Not fudging cool, pal. >> He doesn't talk like that in his side. WHAT? REALLY? >> WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE DOESN'T TALK LIKE. THAT IN SIDE TEXT? >> SCREEN GRAB THAT. >> I don't want to relay all the. conversation cuz there's loud voices at. this moment. But Debbut said, "Maybe you. don't do your fudging routine in side. text." That's just what was said right. here. I just I'm relaying a message once. again. Messenger. >> Tell Debut I love him. >> He said, "Tell Dut I fudge and love.
him.". >> No, he stop. I did see Stephen A get on. him for it. Is he going to stop? >> I like that Stephen A did that. Stephen. A did that for all of us, you know, cuz. we've had to sit through yesterday and. budging. >> Awesome. >> Dan's still here. Dan's still here. Sorry, Dan. Great. Sorry, I thought you. left. Didn't know you had to hear that. You're the Dano, you're the best, Dan. You're the absolute best. We appreciate. you. Thank you for everything you do for. ball. Thank you, Dano. We'll see you. next week hopefully live in Los Angeles. as the Rams are on Monday Night Football. here in Kansas City. quickly before we.
are joined by an incredible guest. Uh. somebody that is probably way too uh. important to be on this show. So the. fact that it's happening, let's. certainly make the most of that. But we. have to hit some college ball very. quickly because obviously the weekend. was spectacular. AJ Hawk, just some. quick thoughts on the collapse of the. Ohio State Buckeyes at the hands of Arch. Manning and the Texas Longhorns. It was. a hot one down there in Austin. And. obviously the day was riddled with. magical moments. And what Arch Manning. did in the fourth quarter, some people. are going to call back to as maybe a.
Heisman moment, even though it was only. week two. The boys went crazy. Ohio. State seemed to be a bit gassed at the. end. I'll tell you with the heat, it was. certainly draining. Maybe the Texas boys. were used to it. Nonetheless, every play. they needed, fourth and six, fourth and. nine, they went and got it. The Buckeyes. weren't able to stop it. AJ, the biggest. story line of the weekend is the number. one team in the land loses to Texas and. becomes the third top 10 team that has. lost to Arch Manning down at DKR. AJ, quick thoughts on where Ohio State.
Buckeyes sit right now and how you guys. are going to respond, you think? And is. Texas for real this year? It certainly. felt like that in the fourth quarter. >> Yeah, I think this Texas team looks like. they are for real. Arch obviously grew. up had a huge uh second half. It's very. disappointing for Ohio State. Uh we all. know that they so many things had to not. go right for them to lose this game by. one at the end. So credit to Texas for. doing that at home. But the good thing. is everything's still out in front of. you. If you are Ohio State, you can go. make a run. Maybe this wakes him up. early. But uh yeah, credit to this Texas. team for winning. You know what? I saw.
Joel Clatt give his top 10. He he list. Ohio State number two. We said, "Hey, we. cannot penalize these coaches for these. big games because they will not schedule. these huge games in the future if we. drop them out of the top 10 or something. for losing in week two." So, I like that. about it and I like that. Hey, like I. say every time, just go run the table. If you're Ohio State, go take care of. business and you can still everything is. still in front of you. But, yeah, hugely. disappointing loss obviously. I think. it's tough. >> Yeah. And Arch Manning goes crazy. I. like the way he operates. He was just. immediately after the game uh talking.
with Miss Laura saying, "Yeah, it's. going to be a great night in Austin.". Yeah. Yeah, it's going to be a great. night in Austin. Feels like he does have. his uncle Manning's uh idea that being a. good teammate is hanging out with the. lads. That's obviously a huge deal. And. then let's pivot away from Texas Ohio. State. Michigan gets a huge win over. Oklahoma. Tone, none of us expected. that. Is Michigan back? What do we. expect from Oklahoma going forward after. a huge loss in the Big House? >> Yeah, I I like what we saw here out of. Bryce Underwood using their legs. I. believe he rushed 18 times on Saturday.
Hey, let's do that moving forward. Obviously, the Utah coaching staff is. used to that. So, that looked really. good for the offense in the first half. This was a defensive game. I mean, the. the offenses, they they scored some. points, but both of these defenses are. going to be really, really good. When. they come up against other good. defenses, I think these offenses are. going to struggle. Oklahoma basically. the same team as last year in those. regards. I think these teams will be. great when their defenses can play great. and then their offenses play. complimentary football off of that. Obviously, Oregon loses to Oklahoma. State. Huge storyline. And now all eyes.
are towards Oxford as LSU. This guy. bought out of his mind. Oklahoma State. brand new out of North Texas. Coach. Morris goes up there. Whole new roster, whole new everything. They hadn't won in. forever and they knock off Oregon at. home as he sets sail from about the four. yd line. Love what that team's doing. Now, let's pivot away from college back. to Monday Night Football. Ladies and. gentlemen, joining us now, chairman and. CEO of the Kansas City Chiefs, Clark K.
>> Great to be with you. >> Do you hear the boys clapping for you. back in the Thunder? >> I I sure do. I got to tell you, I really. like your studio here at Arrowhead. Stadium. Pretty sure. >> Okay, so tell me about this. We're in. the Foolish Lounge and obviously I saw. it on the wall. We did some research. during the break. Your family is. obviously massive influential in the. football world from NFL creating to AFL. to you name it. We've learned a lot. about your family and what they've done. The Foolish Lounge feels like this is. very symbolic of everything that has. kind of happened to Ball right here. Can.
you tell us a little bit about that and. thank you for the hospitality? >> Yeah, absolutely. Um, so in the late. 1950s when my dad founded the American. Football League and uh began taking on. the National Football League, uh he and. the rest of the ownersh were criticized. and they were told, "You guys have no. chance." So they jokingly started. referring to themselves as the foolish. club because they were so foolish to. take on the powerful NFL. Of course, at. the end of the day, he ended up being. successful and forged a merger in 1966.
that gave us the NFL that we have today. But this is one of the ways in Arrowhead. that we remember my dad and his. tremendous legacy and everything he did. for the game of football. >> Yeah. Thank you to your family for. everything. obviously on the AFC trophy. uh name and we went to the Hall of Fame. and they they have so much stuff from. your dad and the way that they are. talking about each other trying to get. this all done and who needs to this guy. needs to never be heard from again. This. guy needs to be seen just like the. vision is crazy. Can you tell me a. little bit about the vision of this. year's Kansas City Chiefs? Obviously you.
got Patrick Mahomes back early. Uh. Travis Kelce obviously back, Chris Jones. back, you have uh Eric Benemy back in. the building. Can you tell me about the. vibes this year as owner or chairman and. CEO, also owner of team versus maybe. last year, which obviously was a little. bit disappointing for the squad? >> Yeah, well, last year clearly was very. disappointing. Uh the first year with. Andy Reid and a losing record here in. Kansas City, um it was something we. weren't accustomed to. It was probably. highlighted by Patrick's injury with uh. three or so games to go. Um, I think all.
of us with the Chiefs during this off. seasonason really had the bit in our. mouth and we're eagerly awaiting for. tonight, the kickoff to the season to. get back out there and hopefully uh show. the world that we still have a pretty. good team. I know Patrick and Travis and. Chris Jones, all those guys are eager to. be out there. Uh, Andy Reid and his. coaching staff, they're very excited to. get the season going. And of course, we're very excited that Patrick's back. and able to play. >> You've had fans lined up since 7:30 last. night to get in here. Obviously, have a. good time. as we were driving in. Cars.
just parked having their own like. tailgate situation as we drive in in. traffic as they open the gates to get in. here to Arrowhead. Should be a. spectacular evening. We're lucky that. Monday Night Football is starting here. tonight. AJ Hawk back in the Thunderdome. has a question for you. Clark, >> Mr. Hunt, I'm just wondering when you're. watching this game, I I every single. game obviously that you guys play, especially tonight opening the season, Patrick coming off of an injury, are you. uh are you anxious? Are you nervous? What's it like? Is it like you're. watching your own children? And I I. cannot imagine what it must be like in. your shoes.
>> Yeah, every game is a little bit. unnerving. Uh tonight will probably be. especially so with Patrick back out. there coming off the injury. Uh it's. going to be exciting to to see him step. on the field to take that first snap. Uh. but I think we're all going to be. holding our breath every time he gets. hit. You know, the first time he takes a. sack. Those are going to be scary. moments. But I know Patrick's not going. to be thinking about it. He's going to. be thinking about how he can win the. football game. >> Okay, let's talk about Patrick Mahomes. He's already been uh deemed a a young. goat, you know, for good reason. The. dynasty in New England, I think, will be.
tough to ever keep up with. 20 years, having a massive amount of success, but. there was a long drought in between. Super Bowl runs for them. For you as you. think about dynasty and obviously. history of the game, how do you describe. this Andy Reed, Patrick Mahomes era. whenever you're talking about it? And. what are what do you think is your role. in continuing that so that obviously. dominance can continue for Kansas City? Yeah. Well, we've been very blessed here. in Kansas City to have both Andy Reid. and Patrick Mahomes. It's very rare that. you get the combination of a Hall of. Fame coach and a Hall of Fame.
quarterback. And when you do, usually. good things happen. And that's certainly. been the case here over the last 10. years with the two of them both here in. Kansas City. Knock on wood, hopefully. our run's not over. You know, Patrick's. still young at 30 years old. Uh Tom, who. you mentioned, uh won a bunch of Super. Bowls after age 30. Uh, so we're hoping. we can get back uh win win a few more. and uh at the end of the day hope. there's a big debate over who's the. greatest of all time. >> I like to hear that. Uh, Debbut has a. question for you Clark. >> Yeah, Mr. Hunt. Back on Patrick and I.
guess Andy Reid as well. What have you. seen as far as the evolution of their. relationship and kind of the impact of. Patrick's mindset on the franchise as a. whole since he's been there? >> Yeah. Well, I think a big part of our. success has been the fact that the two. of them work so well together. uh they. can literally complete each other's. sentences at this point. And uh that. that's part of, you know, Andy's secret. sauce. He's always been regarded as a. quarterback whisperer. Uh certainly he's. been that way with Patrick uh from day. one. I don't think Patrick needs him.
whispering anymore. Uh he's sort of. figured it out by this point. Uh but the. two of them definitely have a special. relationship. It's going to be fun to. see how the offense evolves this year. Uh we we made a conscientious effort to. add some really talented running backs. to the roster. Should give Patrick an. opportunity to be under center a little. bit more. >> Okay. Final uh before we get out of here. on a hard out, can you give us a score. prediction? How often do owners do score. predictions? >> Yeah, I I tend not to do score. predictions, but uh last Thursday we.
were out in the community celebrating. what we call uh Red Friday, which we did. on Thursday this year because of 9 911. And I got asked the question a few. times, so I'm gonna stick with stick. with my spread, the Chiefs by 10. >> Okay, we appreciate you so much. Thank. you for you and your family's. contribution to sport in the best league. on earth. You're the absolute man for. the hospitality. We're lucky and. thankful to be here. Good luck to your. team this year. Good luck to everybody. >> Yeah, thanks very much. I think we're. all excited to have the football season. rolling. >> Ladies and gentlemen, Clark, huh?
>> Okay, as we wrap up here on ESPN, we. will continue digitally. Hold on one. second, Clark. Could we put you in a bad. spot there, Tony? It was over. This is. Clark Hunt. His team will be hosting. Monday Night Football tonight. Monday. Night Countdown starts 600 p. p.m. Eastern. We'll be back here tomorrow. overreacting to everything. Goodbye. Okay, I think we hit the hard out there. We're still live, Clark. We're going to. take a break. We'll be back on the other. side. Cover all the headlines that we've. missed, all the teams that we did not. bring up. We have to show respect. And. then we'll also uh we'll declare some. teams dead right now. Hope that's not.
your team after tonight. We're going to. declare some teams dead. Be a friend. Tell a friend something nice. It might. change their life. Take five. >> When I was a kid, I get this feeling. I called it white buzz.
Everything will go white. When I'd started buzzing, I'd get the same feeling when I started. playing football. That white buzz would come pouring into. my brain like a river of fire.
>> It's like I'm not me in that moment. It's like my body is invaded by. something. >> Sounds like. >> a. eight weeks of training. I don't think.
we've had enough time. We got. this has become something that's. spectacular. It started as proof that. kicking is not easy. This is a real. pressure moment every single week that I.
have been waiting for all off season. And our first contestant is a man named. >> Bruce Mel. Bruce. >> Bruce. >> Big Bruce. >> Home Depot has said they will match. anything that I put on for you for the. rest of the season. >> All year. >> Yeah. Usually Usually companies don't do. like blank checks. Home Depot said we. will match anything you say. So on that. note, Wow. 500,000 from me, 500,000 from. Home Depot. $1 million. to start the season. Bruce,
>> shout out Home Depot. >> Shout out Bruce. Now, Bruce. >> Bruce, look around at your people here. Bruce. >> Bruce. They would all LOVE TO SEE YOU. TAKE HOME ONE million dollars this. morning. Hey, just uh just so we can up. the energy so it feels like Death Valley. a little bit. Can we get a uh.
>> I thought we said we weren't going to. say that on TV there. >> 1 million. >> Hold on. Hold on. We got to It's week one. >> Yeah, >> IT'S WEEK ONE. >> HOME DEPOT. >> It's week one. You got to go. >> All right, Bruce.
>> We can't set precedent that like if you. stink it goes up. So, it's not going to. go up. But what I will say is 250,000. from me, 250,000 from Home Depot. This. is your last effort. $500,000, Bruce. How do you make it go end over end? >> I don't think now's the time to learn. that. >> I don't know. Explode. Explode through. it. Explode through it. >> Hold on, Bruce. Hold on, Bruce.
>> Let's take a thought, Bruce. Let's take. a minute. Stanford Steve, do you think. this guy has a chance to make this or. No, Steve. >> I do. >> You find people that have been waiting. through a lightning storm. Do you think. Bruce is going to be able to make this. or no? They have more faith than I do. 1. MILLION BUCKS BACK ON THE LINE, BRUCE. 500,000 from me. 500,000 from Home. Depot. Good effort, Bruce. Coast is clear for.
the first week. Home Depot. I APPRECIATE. YOU SO MUCH JUMPING on board, Bruce. Great effort, brother. I appreciate you. signing up to do that. Reese, no money. to anybody. >> There you go. Good job. >> We have an opportunity to give away. $75,000. to a giving Daniel Vor. >> Absolutely. >> You're a sophomore, correct? >> Yeah. >> What is your major? >> Civil engineering. >> Okay. So, what's that mean? What is. civil engineering? >> Uh,
I don't really know. >> Have you ever kicked a ball before? >> I have. I have. >> When were you a soccer player? >> Soccer player. Yeah. >> Okay. How were you at kicking soccer. ball? It's pretty good. >> I was okay. I was good. >> Have you ever said anything negative. about football kickers? Maybe once or. twice. >> Daniel. DAMN, DANIEL. WE DON'T NEED. THAT. YOU MAKE A FIELD goal here from 33. yards uphill. You're the civil engineer. You'd have to tell me. I think it's. about a 40 yard kick. If you're able to. do that, we will give you $75,000. >> All right. >> He's got no laces.
>> Yeah. What do we got going here? Can we. get Can we get a shot of shoes? >> What time of the shoes? >> Daniel showed up in his vans with no. laces. What time did you get here for. this? >> About 11:40 last night. Need a lot of. power. Good luck, Daniel. >> I'm not feeling it. Not feeling it.
JUST LIKE EVERYTHING THIS MORNING, THAT. WAS a surprise. >> We did not expect that. >> We got to do one more. >> One more kick. >> For $100,000. >> You got this, dude. >> Let's go. >> How about this, Daniel? How about this, Daniel? Not only is this one for. $100,000, if you make it, we'll add. another $100,000 to the $500,000. donation we're about to make from. college game day to the hurricane.
relief. It could be 600,000 if you make. this with a hund,000 going into your. pocket. Daniel, this is bigger than you. LET'S MAKE A KICK. >> WAY to overcome the shoes here. That was. a heck of an effort. >> Come on. You got this. >> In Berkeley, California. >> YOU GOT IT. YOU BUDDY.
>> Hell yeah. >> Daniel, are you kidding me? 1140 he was there.
600,000 to hurricane. Daniel. >> Hey, >> let's go. This show sticks and the fact that you. listen, we are very, very thankful for. you. >> McAfee on the line with a gorgeous. assist. >> The alltime leading tackler for the. Green Bay Packers. You pick. >> Damn it. >> Your friend, tell a friend something.
nice could change their life. sports. Hello beautiful people and welcome back. to this glorious overreaction Monday. September 14th 2026 our greatest program. begins now. football. is the absolute greatest and tonight. week one of the NFL slate wraps up in. beautiful Arrowhead Stadium here in. Kansas City Missouri as the Kansas City.
Chiefs are two and a half point. favorites against the Denver Broncos at. 5:00 p p.m. Eastern, we will have a. super boost happening on DraftKings, the. best sports book on planet Earth. If you. were to gamble and you are of age and. you agreed to do it responsibly, we'd. love for you to come join us with this. JK Dobbins, Kenneth Walker III, running. backs, granding, pounding the rock, boosted to plus 600 for both of them to. have a touchdown. There's a chance Shawn. Payeyton and Andy Reid are going to want. to get back to running the rock. We've.
seen that across the board in the NFL. 5:00 this will go live on DraftKings. Sportsbook. Once again, DraftKings. available nationwide, all 50 states. You. can trade in sports gamble depending on. which state you're in, but you need to. do it responsibly. And if you're of age, we'd love for you to come join us. Now, I'm obviously not alone in this chitchat. conversation. I got a couple of legends. alongside back in the Thunderdome, a man. who is a college football national. champion, Super Bowl champion, RDER Cup. winner, Ohio State Buckeye. I cough.
Saturday night. >> That's AJ Hawk, ladies and gentlemen. AJ, good to see you. Thank you for. traveling back to the Thunderdome for. this magical overreaction Monday. I. think there's been a lot of good things. to talk about, but we need to dive into. how the fans feel. 9-year NFL vet Darius. J. Butler, you know what we're about to. do, Deb Butch? We're about to do some. overreactions, pal. How do you think. they are? Do you think they're uh just. kind of conservative? Do you think we. got people losing their minds on this. first overreaction? >> I would assume losing their minds. Week. one, everybody has expectations coming.
into the season and uh depending on how. your team performs, you may be pissed. off or you could be crowning your team. Super Bowl champs. So, I'm excited to. see these. >> Yeah. And I'll tell you what, I'm not. doing that with my one team, but with my. NFC team, I'm certainly thinking there's. a chance. Let's go to the toxic table at. Boston Connor and at Ty Schmidt. Ty. Schmidt, you were the one that goes. through the hashtag I don't want to. overreact, but. and kind of pick your favorites to make. the program. What should we be expecting. today? Was it a lot morning in the NFL.
fandom? >> Uh, yes it was. But I kind of tried to. balance it out, you know, between teams. who maybe had very high expectations. coming in this year and then laid an. absolute egg week one and then teams. who, you know, either now they think. they they believe they can win the Super. Bowl. So, it is kind of like there's. there's half of the people who, as it. should be, it's week one. Everyone had. expectations of winning a Super Bowl. Half the people think they still can. And about half the people think, okay, the what's the point? Why even watch. next week? Yeah, I like to hear that. Let's go to one half of the hammer.
>> Way to go, ladies and gentlemen. That. cowboy is AP Tone. Tone, what is the. line tonight? What is the percentage and. uh what should we be thinking as we look. at this week one wrap-up here in Kansas. City, Missouri? >> Yeah, Denver at KC KC 2 and a half point. favorites at home in her arrowhead. Uh. 5050 on the money line tonight uh is the. money for that situation, but 74% of the. money is on the Broncos plus the two and. a half. The public likes the uh the.
Broncos getting points. The total uh 43. and a half that is also split 50/50 even. though the there's been so many points. this weekend. If we get 43 tonight, we. are setting a record nine and six to the. overs. Favorites were eight and seven. against the spread this weekend. Uh so. that's what we're looking at tonight uh. before we have kickoff. >> Okay, let's go through the Thunderdome. I will reserve my right to make the pick. on this particular game um at Monday. night countdown. There you go. Hey, can. we get What were the picks this weekend. between me and AJ? Do we have a graphic.
for that? I have not seen it actually. >> Oh, AJ. as the games are going on. I was racking. my brain to see who remember who I. picked. I couldn't remember one choice I. made, >> dude. I thought I did good. I guess I I. I guess cuz I flopped so many times on a. few of them. I didn't remember which one. I ended up going with. 5-8. Tough week. one. AJ 9 and4. Good start, brother. Congrats to you. 1 and0.
>> That's a great start. Okay, before I. I'll make the pick tonight, Monday night. countdown. Obviously, that's a huge part. of it. Let's go to nine-year NFL vet. Darius J. Butler. Chiefs favored by two. and a half at home taking on the Denver. Broncos. Who do you like? How do you. like it, Dud? >> The overunders. Wow, with that record. being on the line. Uh, but as far as the. game line after after hearing Clark Hunt. come on and knowing, you know, the refs. love the Chiefs. Sounds like he has the. script. I'm taking Kansas City Chiefs to. win to easily cover this two and a half. points. Give me the Chiefs.
>> What do you mean it sound like he had. the script? Cuz he's a Hunt family. member or just because. >> that's the narrative. Everybody's going. to spin it. Especially if Taylor's in. the building. Hey, you know, set up for. the Chiefs. They're kind of flying under. the radar, too. Everybody is pretty high. on the Broncos and Bo Knicks. But yeah, I think Patrick Mahomes, he's got a big. big chip on his shoulder. I think he. comes out firing all cylinders. It's. crazy that he's even out here starting. week one. Let's start with that. But uh. yeah, I'm taking Mahomes the Chiefs to. win in cover. >> So you're saying if Taylor is in the. building more so like the Chiefs?
>> Yeah, for sure. 1,000%. >> She's definitely. >> And all and all Taylor's saying is who's. afraid of little old me? Well, it sounds. like potentially the Denver Broncos need. to be uh a little bit afraid of the aura. that's coming in here. Monday night. football opener. Patrick Mahomes, Travis. Kelce, Bo Nicks, Patrick Certan, Jaylen. Wadd is a member of the Denver Broncos. now. I don't think anybody has really. wrapped their minds around what that. could do for Bo in this particular seat. Let's go over to the toxic table at. Boston Connor. Who do you like? How do. you like it, pal? >> Uh, I'm going to go 2320 Broncos. It.
feels like Vegas has been very good on. these overunders this week, especially. the spreads. And although I'm going with. the underdog in Denver, Denver does just. get no respect. It is one of those. things where they're third in odds to. win their division behind the Chiefs, behind the Chargers. Uh they went to the. AFC title game last year, and it's one. of those things where I believe Tone. gave me this stat on Friday, they. returned like 97%. of their starters as far as snaps goes. I'm assuming that other 3% is Jaylen.
Wadd being the new wide receiver, too. So, I really like the Broncos tonight. actually with the plus two and a half. >> Broncos plus two and a half for Boston. Connor Ty Schmidt, I know your mind is. certainly in uh maybe a different place. today with the way the Green Bay Packers. just absolutely shite the bed in the. fourth quarter last night. But if you. could turn your focus to tonight, who do. you like? How do you like it? >> Uh I also like the Broncos straight up. I think a lot of people, you know, were. talking about, hey, first time play. caller, we'll see what Davis Webb is. doing. You know, after seeing what.
Declan Doyle did with the Ravens. Now, listen, I know it's different personnel. and all that kind of stuff, but uh I I'm. starting to think that maybe these guys. who are finally getting the reigns, maybe they do know a thing or two about. calm plays. And I agree with Conor. I. just I you know, last year the Broncos. were the team that everybody wanted. You. know, hey, this team's going to make a. deep run, maybe go to the Super Bowl, and they that's kind of just evaporated. and I don't know what uh changed. So, I'm also going to go with the Broncos. >> Okay. Broncos across the toxic table and. then we'll go to one half of the hammer.
>> Cowboys AP tone. Tone 50/50 on the money. line. I'll be excited to hear which way. you go cuz you do like fading humans. What What do you like? How do you like. it tonight? >> I do like fading humans. They're just a. stupid bunch normally. Um, but with that. being said, uh, Patrick Mahomes, this is. the first preseason that he has got no. action, uh, no snaps in the preseason, and we kind of saw this weekend that. quarterbacks that didn't play in the. preseason, they can come out a little. bit sloppy. Um, so I'm excited to see.
what happens there tonight. Bo did play. in the preseason a little bit. We talked. about the new play caller with the. Broncos. Uh, you still have the head. coach there who will, I assume, be. overseeing some things with Shawn. Payeyton. I love the Denver Broncos plus. the two AND A HALF. >> WOW. P CONTENDER. >> JEEZ, >> record with this spread. >> Uh, pretty good actually. Pretty good. actually. >> Guys are. >> What's Patrick Mahomes record against. the Broncos at home? >> Seven 70 or something. >> Yeah, I think you said that earlier. >> They got an OC back in the building too, right? >> Yeah, they do, don't they?
>> You kidding me? Oh, >> what's going on out here? >> Generals back in the time. >> Let's go to the other half of the hammer. dad. >> Cowboys. Bubblegum Gumpy. Who do you. like? How do you like it? >> Uh, I love the Chiefs. They had the. Super Bowl MVP. When the Chiefs run the. ball, they're very good. They got be. enemy back, too. I think this is a. massive night for Mahomes and the boys. >> Okay. Kind of a split. Yeah, kind of a. split group here. AJ, you're the one. who's seeing the board very well. Obviously, we just saw that with your.
pick for the Sunday slate. Who do you. like? How do you liking this evening? Chiefs favored by two and a half. >> Yeah. So, you guys are trying to, I. think, make me not trust my instincts. I'm trusting my instincts. First thought. here, I'm going Chiefs to cover, win, and uh go over. So, yeah. All. >> who's trying to bully you, right? >> Everybody I assumed some other guys. would be on the Chiefs like I am. >> Making picks, >> Sorry. I thought we're just doing a. television show over here. WHAT I'M. TELLING YOU, >> ABOUT YOU, PAL.
>> YEAH, >> he asked me my pick, so therefore I'm. giving you my pick. >> Yeah, but you started attacking. everybody, you know. These guys are doing. >> trust your instincts, AJ. I like it. >> I'm trusting my instinct. >> AJ's running hot in Indianapolis. >> You are, brother. Calm down. >> Hey, so it's so it's Gumpy, AJ, and. Debbut on the Chiefs and then Tone in. the toxic table, heavy on the Broncos. I. like that split decision. I'll make mine.
Monday night count. >> Hell, what time does that start? Yeah, >> I to be clear I uh. >> before the game got six. >> sometime before I would imagine six. o'clock. >> six o'clock six o'clock at 6 o'clock. Eastern 5:00 local remember. >> okay had to do the uh got to do didn't. have to do all these things I get I'm. very thankful to do the kickoff game for. uh or kickoff show for Texas Ohio State.
right next to the biggest speaker of all. time I mean I have. >> that was. I have never seen a speaker that big. operate that well. It was three feet. from maybe four or five feet from my. head just as we're doing that pre-show. But boy, I forgot we were on central. time there. I'm hanging out in a but. they got a bus for us there to hang out. during the day so we can watch some. games. We almost missed that thing. I I. mean I I'll tell you the the hour. difference was great. The only reason. why I stayed and was there was to do. kickoff show and halftime show and then.
all of a sudden you don't take in. account the central time, the Eastern. time, and it was like 20 minutes before. that show started and we were uh. we got to go do this. Uh we got to. certainly get rolling. Saw Oregon lose, saw Michigan do its thing, Oklahoma, and. then obviously what Texas would do in. that fourth quarter against Ohio State. I think we all knew were going to set us. up for an incredible Sunday slate. I I I. think we I think what football has done. for us over the last month or two has. shown us that it's going to be good. football, it's going to be electrifying, and we are very very grateful and.
thankful for that. Now, with great. football comes great expectations, but. also great despair. This morning, I sent. a tweet out into the world asking NFL. fans from around the league to let me. hear how they feel. Let me be a therapy. tweet for you. Now, you will not be. judged for being dramatic. No. will know. you actually be celebrated. All you got. to do is put in the tweet uh hashtag. >> I don't want to overreact. >> It became a trend. Uh we don't know what.
number we weren't paying attention close. enough because we are old in the game. now. But we do appreciate everybody. operating. We appreciate football being. so damn great and NFL fan bases being so. passionate that this became a trending. topic. Ty went through there and found. some of his favorites. Let's dive into. them. Uh, first one here comes from. Debbut. # I don't want to overreact, but. it's time I get a new team, which means. one of the old ones are on the chopping. block. That sounds like Miami. Debbut, South Florida native, Broward County. Hall of Famer. Are you getting rid of. Miami? What team are you thinking about.
dropping here? >> First of all, I'm glad you kind of. joined the multiple team gang picking up. the uh Seattle Seahawks as your NFC. team. Very, very smart of you. Look, these teams got to earn it. I'm not. going to let these guys just uh control. my happiness for five 6 months out of. the year. So Dolphins know they are I'm. blood in blood out since I moved to. South Florida about 5 years old. So 35. years 25 plus of that we've been waiting. on a playoff win but they're still in. Colts. >> football family since 2012 going to be.
there for life. Now these other two. Chargers Eagles those are my other two. teams. Eagles look two Super Bowl. appearances. I love Jaylen Herz. I love. Nick Serriani. THEY'RE GOOD WITH ME. OH, >> WITH THOSE CHARGERS. I mean, it's just. hope year in and year out. I love Justin. Herbert. I love what he does. I love the. talent. I love Jim Harbaugh. He's a. football guy. Derwin James, all those. guys who went to the facility, great. hospitality, but they're out. They're. out. I'm out on the Chargers and I got. to pick up an NFC team as well. Uh going.
with Caleb Williams. Okay. >> Ben Johnson and the Indiana Bears out. there. So, that's my fourth squad. Uh. look, >> just take the whole NFC North then. No, no, no. I got two. Now, now it's split. I got two AFC. >> Don't make a mockery out. >> Dolphins, Colts, and I got the Eagles. and the Bears on the NFC side. So, I'm. I'm almost guaranteed to have a good. season, a good ending of my season. I'm. going have a couple of those guys in the. playoffs. And look, >> the Dolphins, we we we're going through. a little rebuild right now, but I'm in a. good spot. But, uh I you know, I. encourage more of you out there to pick.
another team. And I've seen more. tweeting and they're jumping on that. bandwagon as well. I like that you say. if I wanted high expectations and just. disappointments I mean I just would have. remained the Dolphins boy. What am I Why. am I picking up another team that is. going to brutalize my happiness for 5. months? I like the way it's looking. I. think four teams might be too many. >> Just something to think about. I It. might be too many. But. >> maybe not enough. >> Yeah, maybe. Maybe get eight. >> Who's to say? >> You know what? One of these teams here.
might win me over tonight. You're right. I didn't even think about picking up. another AFC team, which I might have to. do. >> Yeah, you might have to. >> We just get 32. >> I think you probably should. >> Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Long. season. I'm not giving up on the Colts. >> Lamar looked good. >> Tell you what, I go into Saturdays with. 138 teams and it's awesome. I wish I. could do that on Sunday. See? >> Yeah. See, that's the difference. That's. the difference. That's why you got to. buy in. Okay, let's go to the next. overreaction, shall we? Speaking of. being a Colts fan, Bailey Mccomus is. certainly one of those. # I don't want. to overreact. But.
>> there seems to be a lot of teams getting. better after cleaning out stale, unsuccessful cultures and replacing them. with new blood. Starting to feel like we. are stuck in a sad, depressing loop in. Circle City. Blow it up. Jeez Louise. This is what the guy tweeted me about. the Thunderdome. I think, you know, a. little bit serious, but I do appreciate. him uh taking to his graphic designing. abilities and showcasing what it should. look like. what it should look like. It. does appear to be a little bit of AI.
slot, but Bailey would say, I made this. in 35 seconds to amplify my particular. tweet and we'd say, "Good on you." But. yeah, Bailey was in that suite with us. yesterday. And I'll tell you, unless the. Ravens are the best team in the history. of of ball, >> yeah, >> this might be a long year to be a Colts. fan, but we got a lot of games left to. turn this around. Bill, let's not give. up just yet. Even though Zay Flowers had. a career day, Lamar Jackson had a career. day and Derrick Henry had a career day. and Aval had very long careers. So, uh, certainly a tough start to the season,
but let's not blow it up just yet. We. got 16 more games. All right, let's go. to the next overreaction, shall we? This. one's from Cody at Cody_HM. # I don't. want to overreact, but. this Chargers team is sharing. Theory offensive line is still assing. Herbo is throwing meatball subs out. there. Just keep showing Madison beer. Miss Madison, it's a lot easier on the. eyes. The Cardinals. I think a lot of.
people were bummed out, AJ, about what. this Chargers was, but I think we're not. giving enough respect to this Cardinals. team and Mike Laflur potentially. >> Yeah, I I don't know if you saw, but. they showed uh Mike Laflur's his parents. were in uh I believe in attendance. Got. to see their son get his first win as a. head coach. So, I think that should go. for, you know, go to get a couple. points, three or four points maybe with. your parents there to see your first. win. But also, >> I understand what this SEG is and we've. been doing it for a long time. I don't. want to overreact, but. >> but this is kind of wild what we we. crown teams and we absolutely cancel.
teams after week one. >> AJ, >> that's what we do. I get it. I'm not say. like I'm just saying when do like I. don't know what if how about we wait. four weeks? How about after four games? >> We'll have four. Chargers might go 0 and. 17. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, they might. Arizona Cardinals. might go 17 and second two Dolphins. Look out. Mike Laflur with his great. hair is on the hunt to be the second. team to go completely undefeated in this. entire thing. And it's hard not to do. that. And AJ, you know what? We'll put.
out our next episode four weeks from. now. >> There we go. >> Yeah. Okay. >> Okay. We'll just we'll put out our next. episode four weeks from now. That's what. we'll do. Chargers did bum us out. I. like that Cody had the same thoughts as. Debbut. Deep just cut them as one of his. team. >> Yeah. Then I realized I followed Mike. McDaniel over there, too. So, they were. already on thin ice. >> Yeah. There you go. >> Put this guy running too He's running. too much pistol and gun. >> Yeah. >> Get out of center. >> Center. >> Put the weapons down. Danneri said, "Put.
the guns down. Put them under center.". That's what everybody else is doing. Let's go to the next reaction. This. one's from Joey Kennedy at Joey Kennedy. uh IVth. There's been three others. before. # I don't want to overreact, but. between electrical substation superstars. hiding on IR and Drew Lock, there's only. one team in the NFC West who's worth a. damn. The Arizona Cardinals are winning. the best division in football. They're. certainly undefeated. Con man, why not.
the Arizona? There's a lot of reasons, but why not the Arizona Cardinals here. on this particular reaction Monday? There's plenty of reasons and you can. believe all those or you can believe. that the Arizona Cardinals have one of. the most electrifying offenses in all. football. I mean really when you think. about how it was last year felt like. they were in every game for the most. part. You know of course they got blown. out and they had to come back and they. had to throw the ball a lot but they're. in games. Trey McBride, Marvin Harrison. Jr. Jeremiah Love now Michael Wilson who. Dano loved and then Jacob Brassette.
Jacob Brassette was spinning the pill. yesterday and he wasn't really doing. anything wrong. Feels like Michael Ford. does have those guys going in the right. direction. I I'm I can't believe I love. the Arizona Cardinals as much as I do. right now. But I am genuinely hoping. they they can go on and win at least. seven eight games because it would be a. really cool story. And also just coming. into the year, everyone assumed that. they might sneak away with about three. wins and then for them to go and upset. the Chargers is just the epitome of why. NFL Sundays are so awesome and I'm just.
so glad that happened yesterday. Yeah, Michael Aflor might be a really good. coach. There's a chance Michael Flor is. a really good coach and he got Jacobe. Brassette on a very friendly deal if. he's going to be a starting quarterback. They could do some things with that. rush. Let's go to the next overreaction. This one's from AJ_3 Ramirez. What's up, AJ? # I don't want to overreact, but. Cowboy season's over. They feed us hope all off season. saying Christian Parker is a savior for.
the Cowboys and they go out there and. let Cam scataboo run down our. throats all game. Front office ass. DC. ass. Head coach ass. I've given up. I. don't like this out of AJ D. But he's. given up on Shotty and everybody already. after one game. Oh, I mean it's I'm sure. that's been loud in the Cowboys world. because everybody was talking about the. narrative was it's been quiet out there. It's been quiet. They're just playing. football. George Piggin is quiet. They're running extra sprints while the.
teams are walking off. We spent some. time with Shotti. We were hinging them. as well. And they came out laid an. absolute egg. I remember everything DB. may have been last year, maybe the year. before where they had a four boxer up. for the first time. They might have. another one coming this week after that. two-minute drive with Jackson Dart. And. Jackson Dart looked tremendous, but. there were guys running wide ass open. and yeah, very, very disappointing uh. start for Christian Parker. Everybody's. been hiring him. I am as well. I think. they'll get better as the weeks go on. But I think this is a warranted uh.
reaction or overreaction for week one. for sure when you talk about those. Cowboys. >> Has Jerry Jones got on a microphone yet? I need it. >> I need it. I need it right now. He might. be trying to find that honey hole six. miles deep still uh and not even know. what happened to that game. But you. know, he said once I get my eyes on. these guys, I might want to make some. big fish hunting. You know, I might want. to go uh big game hunting. Might make. some new trades. Lose to the Giants. opening night. Will that change anything. for Jerry Jones and the Cowboys? We.
shall see. Let's go to the next over. reaction. This is from Joseph Bruner at. JC Bruner. Middle name Charles. Joseph. Charles. They used to call him Chuck as. a boy. He wore number 99. obviously paid. his respects. # I don't want to. overreact, but. the Giants are winning the division. Eagles look as soft as the team they. beat in the Commanders. And the Cowgirl. defense is same old. Malikica is going. to be healthier likely look nuts and the. defense for the Giants can finally stop. the run. Go Gmen. Go Gmen. Go. Bruce, is.
this how you're all feeling about. potentially the Giants going on a run in. the NFC East this year? >> Absolutely. The John Harbaugh Giants are. as serious as a heart attack. They are. an absolute problem and I I think we. actually will win the NFC East and be a. legitimate contender. Um it was night. and day. It's just a a bonafide. operation with Ricard and Scataboo. running all over everybody. It started. really on the fourth and inches. Dak. tries to draw us soft sides. We don't. jump. Uh they get to delay a game, punt. the ball away, and then it ends on third. and nine um with just a perfect.
conversion to Isaiah likely um to to. close things out. It was just a really a. perfect start to the John Harbaugh era. and uh just excited to see where it. goes, man. >> Good for you guys getting a chance to. experience this. John Harbaugh brought. in a toughness and it seems like an. execution level the Giants haven't had. in a long time. AJ, you you buying the. Giants? You gi Are you buying what Bruce. is selling after one night against. Dallas? >> I mean, I'm not going to crown them. Super Bowl champs this early, but yeah, I definitely think there's something to. it. And I think Harball brought what.
they this is what they're looking for. and hopefully they can ride this. momentum. But man, Scataboo and Ricard. like I I am a huge fan of that. I love. Ricard and what he's able to do. So. yeah, we'll see. I don't know how many. wins that equates to, but yeah, I like. the Giants right now. >> All right. Well, uh I like that AJ hates. overreaction. >> Yeah. What the. >> What? What? What the. >> This been going on for years. >> Yeah, WE'RE LOOKING FORWARD TO IT. >> IT'S NOTHING NEW. I'm just trying. Well, I understand them. >> OVERREACTION MONDAY IS ABOUT. >> THEM. DO YOU UNDERSTAND THOUGH? DO YOU.
UNDERSTAND? CUZ IT SOUNDS LIKE. YOU DON'T. >> The more irrational the better for. overreaction. Bingo. I get it. >> YEAH. >> SO, WHERE ARE YOU, PAL? >> I GET IT, CON. >> I just said I agreed with old whoever. the last guy that made that that X. account. >> Yeah, but then you did a full then you. Yeah, but then you did a full I don't. like us doing it. It's like this is what. we're doing. Okay. is what we're doing. >> What's your overreaction, AJ? >> Yeah, let's hear it. I was tired of. other overreaction.
>> I mean, honestly, you kind of read my my. my mind right there. Like, I even I I'm. guilty of it myself. I watched these. games yesterday and I was in my brain. I'm I wasn't crowning people, but I was. definitely canceling some teams. >> I was cancel. with AJ Hawks. >> Okay. I'm not canceling the Tennessee. Titans. I'm saying I'm disappointed in. their showing in their week one show. >> That makes sense. I expect them. You. said you cancel? >> No, I absolutely did not. I expected Cam. Ward to have a bigger day. I expected. the defense to hold up a little bit more. with Robert Salah. I think they'll find.
a way to be all right. I just have no. idea what that might be. I And also, you. know what? I kind of crowned the Bengals. in my head. I did kind of I said the. Bengals defense were scoring on D. We're. getting turnovers and Joe Burrow didn't. even play great as Dano said and they. get a win. So, here we go. >> Yeah. Okay. So, you thought that as. well. You were waiting for Alavka to say. it so then you could say that he said. it. But you crowned the Bengals and you. cancelled the Titans. Wow. It sounds. like you're not reasonable at all. This. is disgusting. >> Are you saying what they're saying about. you said they're saying they're saying. about Dave? What they said?
>> He's just killing quarterbacks. Daniel. Jones had him looking shitty. What was. the last Jackson Dart? He looks like a. brand new quarterback. Cam Ward, he's. taking steps back. Are you catching. Dball, too? >> That's what it sounds like you're doing. A little bit of reacting. FOOTBALL. >> I was watching football yesterday, guys. I feel like Dano right now. I really do. >> Wake up. >> COME ON. >> WAS IT the next one? >> It was. Yesterday was an awesome day.
This is Clyde the Glide Seaman at C. Seaman 137633. Obviously an interesting name for this. guy. I'm sure he's mentally tough. Has. had to go through a lot. # I don't want. to overreact, but. Now, Ty picked these, so let's remember. that the Packers are dead. End of story. The cheese has been shredded by the. Carson Wentz experience. And good old. boy Maka ain't going to be enough to. save it. Pack it on up the floor. It's. over. Are you putting the flowers on the.
floor's grave right now? Taj Schmidt, is. that what the Packers fans are doing? >> Uh, a lot of people are. Part of me. would definitely like to do that. Uh, it's tough to do that because they just. gave him a brand new extension in. January. Uh, I'm just s I'm just sick. and tired of the same old goddamn song. and dance every single game every single. year and then expecting, you know, a. different all you hear about, hey, this. Packers team, they're so young, they're. so talented, and then they get, you. know, embarrassed in the playoffs, they. lose games like this. Um, so I'm not.
sounding the alarm yet. I'm not gonna. say they're dead. That's what, you know, Clyde Seaman thinks. Uh, I'm not gonna. say that quite yet. But I tell you what, they better have a much better showing. against the Jets. And now like you know. 3 weeks ago I'm thinking okay they'll. beat the Vikings. They'll go into New. York. They'll beat the dog out of. the Jets and we'll be you know we'll be. just fine. We're closer to Micah getting. then they have the Falcons after that. Uh but now this turns into hey you. better not only just go out and win. You. you better look damn good against the.
Jets because boy was that a piss poor uh. viewing experience. And I am very. worried about that O line. Very very. worried. They can't block anybody. Okay, so maybe Laflur is around for a while, but maybe they need to reimagine what. the Packers are if they want to get to. the promised land. I would not just be. sleeping on the Jets. I I don't think. that's certainly something. I know the. Titans I know the Titans look like ass, but there was a team that had to make. them look like that. Uh incredibly. impressed with Aaron Glenn getting a. chance to have a successful moment in. the locker room afterwards. Good for.
them. Maybe they continue to win some. games and have some happiness as the. Giants potentially look very dominant. Okay, let's go to the next one. This. one's from uh David crapen shits. He's. feeling fake Davis. I know. I mean, come. on. >> I know. >> Sportsfan_bal. Baltimore fan # I don't want to. overreact, but the Ravens have their guy. at head coach. Jesse Mter is the second. coming of Mike McDonald. Spelled his. name wrong and will lead the Ravens to. the Super Bowl. Lamar will win his third. MVP and Derrick Henry will go down as.
the greatest running back of all time. #. Minterball Debbut. We watched it. I. agree. I there's a chance. I mean, there's a 100% chance with this Ravens. team with how good they looked and. efficient they looked against Colts. >> Yeah. Hard to disagree. Doesn't sound. like an overreaction at all. Mentor, he's been a great coach. We saw him in. Michigan. I think Rose Bowl and then. they went on to win the national. championship with Harball and he went to. the Chargers. They look great. And now. he's the head man in Baltimore. We. talked a bunch about Declan Doyle today. I know it was only one uh game. We think.
the coach defense is at least decent or. average. At least I do. So for that. outing, uh, Zay Flowers obviously has to. be healthy. He's a big big part of their. passing game. But I said it earlier that. that Kobe and Shaq thing, that is a a. great comparison. You think about Lamar. Jackson and how he can beat you with his. athleticism and his awareness and. accuracy, everything from the pocket. And then Derrick Henry can just pound. you, especially as games go on. So yeah, if I was a Raven fan, Ravens fan, I'd be. flying high right now. I was close. I. was this close to becoming a Ravens fan.
This close. >> I think you still might get there. >> Me, too. Me, too. It's closed. I. >> No, you already submitted your flag. >> Yeah, you got the. >> You can't cut anybody. >> Is four the max amount we're. >> That's I mean, >> and you can't cut any ridiculous. >> Is this the cut off? >> And out of out of respect to Jay Dames, of course. >> Yeah. >> Smart. Thank you for doing that. Honestly, very kind of you. Tough loss. for them. Is David Blau the guy? I. didn't know. I mean, >> we won. >> He I mean, he was great on Thanksgiving. at one time. I remember watching him do.
his thing. So, I I assume he's great, man. >> They need to put that They need to put. that gunner in the game and have him. start catching passes instead. >> Gosh. >> Uh, can we please run that? Um, I should. know his name. Tyler. >> Tyler Owens. Sorry. Uh, Mr. Owens, I. should remember this. Tyler Owens, you. know this, uh, cuz I assume a lot of. people have told you. I would sacrifice. and cut some things off of my body to. have this guy as your gunner. I mean, look at all. We got a straight arm right. there into a stiff arm into another one. two pancakes into a spine buster. Bang.
I mean, this guy is everything you would. want as a special teamer, as a teammate, for a punter, as a gunner. It's just. like the perseverance, the resistance, the grit, the athleticism, the strength, AND THE FORTITUDE. BANG. AND IN THAT, I. would cut off half of a finger. I would. cut off half a finger if I was still a. partner to have this guy as your gunner. Now, will he be able to survive all. season? Cuz obviously they're going to. double and triple team him. He might get. caught up in stuff. We shall see. But. that's a special rep. That is a special.
dude. And that is a special message you. send to the rest of that locker room. about who you are, what you are. I loved. I mean that's a left jab. Boom. Garcia. Boom. Garcia right to the face. Boom. Garcia to Ben. And then a spine buster. as if he's Arn Anderson to finish that. thing. It was just it was an outrageous. rep. And I can't believe the. Philadelphia Eagles have that on their. tape as well. But. >> Pat, you know, if you go back to the. beginning of that vice, first of all, it's two ones. Can you Yeah. Pause it. real quick. Oh, he crossed. It's 2011. So, as grown men, we got to win this.
matchup 10 times out of 10. Now, on the. outside, you have a cornerback, 31. On. the inside, I've been a part of vices a. ton. I hated being in a vice. with a wide receiver. They got low ass. number 80 in there. Let it run. You see. what happens? First takes a bad angle. inside. Boom. Get out of here, little. throw him off you. He gets back in. there. Give him a little stiffer. Are. you back? Bomb. >> Got him again with the left. Then he. bomb your ass, too. And then get there. to finish. just unbelievable effort, man. We we we've been watching the. league, playing the league for a long.
time. It's only a handful of these guys. that you see. The first guy that comes. to my mind like Ozgood, that big wide. receiver, I think he played for Detroit. and uh maybe the uh the Chargers, some. other teams. Like these guys changed the. math and obviously changed field. position. This rep played leaguewide in. special teams meeting. This is effort. This is how you finish. And yeah, I can. understand how you'll cut something off. to have this guy on your punch. >> Yeah. Yeah. later you go and like the. great in the history of special teams. you start going through like. >> this type of special man and the rest of.
the team sees that Dan Quinn's got to. see that and uh the left hand right to. the guy's shoulder and face just to put. him on the ground and you say soft uh. thin wide receiver that has no idea what. he's doing here no mouthpiece just just. kind of comes cruising over too like ah. let me come take a look see here. whatever he he comes back over top and. uh just catching it watch him cuz not. only does he get thrown off he's all. right I'm going to catch up to him. Casual. Casual. Let me go ahead and get. to him. No problem. Bang. Yeah, right, kid. Get out of here, dude. That's tough.
tape. Tough tape. The Eagles are going. to have to get back. But on the other. side, Tyler Owens, thank you for your. service to Ballp. Okay, let's get to the. next overreaction. This one's from. Alfred Simon. # I don't want to. overreact, but. starting my 10th season as a Cleveland. Browns fan from Europe. and picking this. destiny myself. I'm 100% sure I'll never. see this team play competitive football. >> We had a small window during the Baker. era when we made the playoffs, but. that's about it. I beg Archie Manning.
and others to never come here and ruin. their life. We are Alfred Alfred. kind of gets the American culture at. some feels like he. >> feels like he kind of gets it. Alfred, that is on you 100%. And also, Alfred, I. don't know if you've seen what we've. done here today. You can pick a new. team. Yeah, >> he could pick he could pick a new team. Alfred, nobody will even know if you. never tweet about it. Trevor Lawrence. could have his best year. The. Jacksonville Jaguars could be a real. problem, but the Cleveland Browns. certainly look like ass. And I don't. think anybody's necessarily pumped up. about that, including international fans. who chose this fate. Con man, that's.
kind of on them. Don't you think Alfred. Simon kind of I don't I don't want to. say like wo is me, but you signed up for. this from intern across the pond. That. that sounds like an Alfred Simon. problem, con man. Yeah, it feels like. Alfred Simon is the dumbest son of a. I've ever seen. Um, I cannot. believe 10 years ago he decided to pick. the Browns. It's not as if they were. coming off some good years or something. like that. So maybe there's a backstory. where he's an Oklahoma Sooner fan or. something, so he decided to follow. Baker. You have to pick a new team. I.
mean, watching the Cleveland Browns play. football, it it made me uncomfortable. It made me feel bad for Deshawn, for. their fans, for people who are even Jags. fans who have to go watch half of the. game being in Cleveland Brown football. I want Monkin to do well so so bad just. because of his moxy, but it just doesn't. feel possible in Cleveland. If you are a. Browns fan, I feel like as a Patriots. fan or another team's fan, you should. give grace to Browns fans and let them.
leave their fanhood. And if they do it, don't talk them. just understand. that it was necessary and that they. shouldn't be rooting for the Cleveland. Browns ever again because it is a. miserable watch. >> Yeah, it certainly is. And I mean, I. guess Chargers fans are feeling the. same. Remember, Debbut left the Chargers. fan base to join the Chicago Bears fan. base. This one's from Hooch Williams at. Hitchcock 2013. # I don't want to. overreact, but Ben Johnson is a football. wizard. Caleb Williams is winning MVP. We have the greatest running back tanm.
in NFL history. And you just watched the. first game of the greatest season in. Chicago Bears football. # Super Bowl. champions. #bear. #thebears. Shout out to ZTO. Did you. guys see that steak ZTO ate last night? I'm pumped up for him. I'm pumped up for. Bears fans. They gave up a lot of. points, >> though. I I mean, they gave up a lot of. points, but if Ben Johnson is expecting. to be the highest scoring offense in the. history of the NFL, he said, "We're cool. with winning 49 47 if that's what it. needs to be." I'm I don't worry about. that. We're going to worry about the. offensive side. Foxy saw this offense.
with the Detroit Lions. Now it's. starting to look like this down there. Roma Dun is making a catch of the year. here this early. I like the Chicago. Bears just as much as everybody else. And I don't think any of us expected it. to look like this and then have Caleb. Williams say that's the worst we're. going to have. Debut. Good for you. picking up a new team. >> Yeah. You know what? We did expect this. cuz our head coach, he told us what to. expect. All right. He wants not only. Super Bowl, he wants record. Don't. worry. Yeah. Our head coach, don't worry. about Zit either. house and stakes every. week. We got a we got a workout plan and. we're starting today after the show. So,
he'll be good this season. We'll be. great this season. But, yeah, you got. the head coach, you got a running back. tandem, you got special wide outs, you. got coach Lovelin who was quiet this. week, so he'll wake up. I mean, you look. at a team and you think about being a. fan, you look at the ownership group. For me, as uh you know, I live in. Indiana part time closer. Coach, hey, you take the identity of head coach. Yeah. >> Quarterback. Oh, he's on the cover, man. He's cooler and tougher this year. Faster. I'm all in on the Bears. Bear.
>> Yeah, his mustache is spectacular, especially for Chicago. Yeah, I see you. giving up the Bears sign. You're all in. Let's go to the next one here. This. one's from Nate Brown at Nathan A. Brown. Nate. >> nine. # I don't want to overreact, but. >> the Buffalo Bills are the greatest team. to take the field in the NFL, parenthesy. If you ignore the defense, parenthesy. And Josh Allen's daughter's. DNA test is officially back. She's half. alien. That's right. Josh Allen is an. alien. I do believe that he has become. the blueprint. Him and Lamar Jackson. both. Are you going to win a Super Bowl? You going to win a Super Bowl? You going.
to win a Super Bowl? Felt like Josh. Allen felt great yesterday in that run. Joe Brady obviously now head coach and. offensive coordinator. I love watching. Josh Allen play football. And the. Houston Texans take an L to Josh Allen. at home. First time that has taken. place. AJ, is Josh Allen's daughter part. alien? >> I mean, I guess that is the ultimate. compliment, right? saying that your dad. is a Well, wouldn't she be like a. quarter? Cuz Josh can't be full alien. He's probably He's got to be a hybrid. He's got to be half, right? >> We don't know. We don't know. >> I guess we don't know. He could be full.
a shape shifter as they say. I I've. heard people say that before, but with. DJ DJ Moore and Daltton Concaid, man, like Josh, it's a scary offense to think. about trying to stop and they can I. think they can play like in all, we know. Buffalo, it's going to get cold. eventually. They can play in all. elements. There's some offenses I think. that might slow down a bit as the as we. see the seasons pass and it gets colder. and windier and rainy, all that stuff. I. think this Bills team is built to last. Let's just see if that uh that defense. can hold teams to, you know, maybe under. about 28 or so. >> Yeah. >> The Buffalo Bills on Thursday night,
obviously the home opener for Highark. Stadium. Can't wait to see how they. bounce, not bounce back or continue to. go after the Houston Texans win. Last. one here as we wrap up on this glorious. overreaction Monday. You're underground, man. At NC Parker 73, I'm seeing people. pop up out of. >> I've seen that, too. What are they doing. down there? >> What's going on down there? >> I don't know. I saw Ocean 11 cuz they. were taking out the power grid cuz they. need to get. >> went in there. # I don't want to. overreact. But.
>> but what you saw yesterday from the. Bengals is still is them still another. year getting off to a slow start. The. NFL isn't ready for what this team is. going to become once October gets here. Wow. Maybe what he's saying is that was. a bad bad game for our Bengals. This is. kind of normal for us. We don't play. good early. We get better as we go. later. Baker Mayfield got abused. yesterday. Had some turnovers and the. Cincinnati Bengals get a gigantic. gigantic dub to start the season in. which they normally would lose. The.
Bengals suck in the beginning of the. seasons. They've always had to play. catch-up. Catching a dub, no matter how. close or how tough it looks, good things. for the Bengals. And AJ, you said that. they're all the way back. You said one. of the things, one of your reactions. that the Bengals maybe win a Super Bowl. this year. That's what you said. >> I don't know if I said those exact. words. I did not mention Super Bowl. >> You crowned the mentioned. I usually. don't say use like the Super Bowl after. week one a whole lot, but they're. definitely one of the teams that has a. chance. This is great. They usually. start out like 0 and four, 0 and five or.
one and four. So, here we go. This is a. great start for crown them. You said you. crown. >> I said crown them. I didn't say they're. going to win the Super. >> That's what crown them means. If you're. the kingown. I'm not saying crown him crown him. anymore then. Sorry. >> And you said day ball sucks. That's what. you said. >> Never. >> Yep. >> You said both these things. That's. overreaction Monday in a nutshell. All. right. We appreciate you guys so much. for allowing us to do this for a living. tonight at. 6:00 Eastern. Yep. >> Monday Night Countdown kicks off the.
opening of Monday Night Football season. Obviously, as the Kansas City Chiefs. play host to the Denver Broncos. This is. about to be the biggest and best. season yet. >> with obviously the Super Bowl February. 14th in Los Angeles on ESPN. It is an. honor to be a part of tonight's uh. festivities, I guess, as a whole. Is. that what. >> Monday Night Countdown will be. considered festivities of the Monday. Night Football game, right? >> Definitely. Yep. >> Yes. Good luck. >> It's an honor to be a part of the. festivities. I'm very uh thankful. I'm.
very pumped for the opportunity and. hopefully we will do ball justice and. hopefully I can uh join a team that's. ready to have the biggest and best. season yet. To the boys back in the. Thunderdome, thank you. Great work on. this every Monday. >> Hey, have fun. Hey, have fun out there. tonight. >> That's right. >> Go get them. >> That's right. That's right. I'm going to. have fun out here. To the crew here uh. that built this setup here in the. Foolish Lounge, great work. Uh. obviously, nobody at home that's. watching would really know this. about. seven minutes before the show went live. We didn't really have any connection uh. to the Thunderdome at all. They started.
doing a lot of stuff over here with a. lot of conversations and they figured it. out. We appreciate the hell out of you. guys. Great work. We'll see you next. week. And to the boys in the back, great. work. Foxy, Bruce, uh Nick Gumpch, >> the graphic design boys. Fresh new face. Ty, thoughts on Debbone's face? >> Yeah, I was shocked. Uh per perplexed. Uh, it honestly took my breath away. And. then it was kind of good. >> I saw a picture from uh of Rex Ryan in.
like 2011 when he was coaching the Jets. and I was looking at Bone and I was. getting the two of them confused. I. didn't know which. But you know what? He. >> he looks good. He he looks darn good. Victory Monday for him too. You know, his his Buffalo Bills got a huge win. yesterday. So. >> yeah, I think this is the photo you were. potentially referring to. And I don't. know if Rex would necessarily love this. It was It was a different one. Yeah, you. can you you probably know what I'm. getting at here. It It was a little bit. more uh prominent in the picture I was.
looking at. >> The Jets hat or. >> Yeah, the Jets hat. Yeah, >> sure. >> The Jets hat was more prominent. Yes. >> More headon. >> Yeah, more head-on, if you will. >> Debo. Like, do we have a picture of. Debbone of what he looks like or is he. around? >> Debbone, why don't you come on? >> Debbone, come on out. Hey, Debo. >> Have you seen Dune? The guy that lives. in the mud? >> Baron von Harkin by Dune. Is he done? Is he done WALKING IN MORDOR. YET? >> GOD, >> YOU LOOK GOOD, BUDDY. >> I think you look really good. Okay. Oh,
>> keep coming. Rosie. >> O'Donnell. Rosie O'Donnell. I understand a question. >> Hey, Bone, you look good, Bone. Okay, you look really good. Don't let them. judge you like that. Now, on that note, I was startled to see his face the way. he looked. I did yesterday. He showed up. at the Colts game like that and we were. all pretty uh bewildered. >> It looks like you're 17 years old. >> He said you got to do 10 push-ups. >> 10. >> Yeah, he could probably do 15 easy.
>> Wow. >> Who said that? I Are you guys saying I. said that? >> That's what he said. >> I did not say that. I didn't. >> anybody dying on this show. >> Cartwheel back. Come on. >> You want cartwheel? >> You want dunk? You want You want. chopstick dunk? >> Call it. >> But he said you could keep your bra. I. mean, come on, guys. >> Out of here. >> Oh, that way. He wants you to go that. way. >> No, no. No cartwheel. Just get. cartwheel. Get out of here. Come on. >> Stage collapses if you don't. >> He said he Yeah.
>> B. Go. Go back. Go back. B. Thank you. Jeez Louise. What are you guys trying to. do, boys? >> Well, I was cold, guys. >> 10 push-ups. >> He's walking. He's 3/4 of the way to. Mordor. >> 34. >> No, he's nowhere near 3/4. >> I don't know how far that walk is. It's. 1800 miles. >> Foxy brought up a good point. Foxy did. wonder if because he has been walking a. Mordor like four or five days now he's. done the treadmill. >> Mhm. >> If Foxy Foxy was like, do you think.
maybe he thought under his beard because. he has been on the treadmill four or. five days like hey, >> you know what I mean? Maybe see maybe he. wanted to see cuz he thought he had. right. I I had not thought of that until. you mentioned it. Let's just say this is. a theory that could be possible because. he has told me he's been working really. hard and he's lost a lot of weight and. I'm actually very proud of him. So I'm. like new weight or new he has a new body. bone might think he has a jawline under. there. There's a reason I have a beard.
It's to have a fake jawline. So I just. want Bone to know that if that was the. case, don't ever do that again. Well, Tone has fallen for this as well, where. Tone thought he was in much better shape. than uh maybe his jaw thought that it. was and he's gone for it. It's just. anytime you change what you look like. mightily. It's going to be a topic of. conversation. I think Bone knew that. I. think he was really rolling the dice. with what that face was, but we're. thankful he did that. We're thankful he. did that. >> Live, you learn. >> And we like that he's getting after it. to Mordor as well. Hell yeah.
>> All right. >> Be a friend. Tell a friend something. nice. You might change your life. We're. in this thing together. Shout out to. Gumps, by the way. You're doing great, Gumps. >> Baby Gumps. Gumps. Gumps. Sweet. headphones. >> Wiggle huggle. >> You do have sweet headphones. Miamiy's. doing pretty good, huh? >> A couple rookies played well. Caleb. Douglas, Jacob Rodriguez led the team in. tackle. So, you know, the young guns. were playing well. >> Who was available at to draft maybe when. you guys decided not to draft? >> Ooh, a lot of guys. Yeah, a lot of guys were.
out there. >> like Caleb Dons. Was he available? >> Yeah, he looked very good last night. Proctologologist. uh didn't look. offensive line didn't look there. >> Yeah, there's a chance he is. unbelievable. Good for you, Gumps. Way. to stick with the Miami Dolphins even. though you were international and pick. them and had your fate. And why'd your. dad pick the Dolphins again? >> Uh middle linebacker Rick Bonani. >> Oh, Nick Barnani. Come on. >> No, this Rick. My dad called him Rick. >> Listen, shout out to Jen Beer. Shout out. to everybody. Hey, we appreciate you so. much. Uh be a friend. Tell a friend.
something nice in my change your life. We're in this thing together. AJ, safe. travels back to Ohio. 6:00 Eastern. tonight, Monday Night Countdown. Hopefully, we're setting the stage for. the greatest Monday Night Football game. of all time, which is certainly. possible. What a start for the NFL. What. a continuation for college football. We're so lucky to be a part of it. I'll. be back tomorrow in the Thunderdome. What a time that'll be. Uh we're in this. thing together. Let's never forget that. Team on me, team on three. Football's. back, baby. One, two, three. Goodbye.
