The Pat McAfee Show Live | Monday October 5th 2026
My hands up. My hands up all day now.
USA. USA. You. come on in.
Time. a. little.
The following program is a collection. of stooges talking about happenings in. the sports world. It is meant to be. comedic, informative. The opinions.
expressed on this show do not. necessarily reflect the beliefs of their. peers, their boss or ESPN. There may be. some cuss words because that's how. Cubans is the real world talk. If you. are a young, please seek permission. before watching any further. Hey, let's go. >> This show stinks and the fact that you. listen, we are very, very thankful for.
>> McAfee on the line with a gorgeous. assist. >> The alltime leading tackler for the. Green Bay Packers. >> You. start damn it. >> Be a friend. Tell a friend something. nice could change their life. sports. >> Hello, beautiful people and welcome to a. glorious overreaction Monday. I'm live. in New Orleans. The boys are at the. Thunderdome and now what the hell.
happened? >> FOOTBALL. >> What the hell is my is my feed wrong? Bruce, what happened there? Did you cut. to the two shot while we were still. doing? Did you see that? Hey, >> I actually have something wrong with the. board here. >> Oh, look at this. >> I don't know what. >> Oh jeez. >> Oh no. AJ Hawk right there into. Thunderdome alongside Bruce Brown who's. behind a glass having a full panic and. anxiety attack as we speak on this.
glorious overreaction Monday, October. 5th, 2026. It's not just us that are. going to have a chance to chat about a. Sunday that saw eight final. onepossession games. nine if you count. the Giants pick six late to walk off. that thing and make it a two-score game. But whenever you talk about an NFL. Sunday slate delivering from beginning. talking about the Indianapolis Colts in. London, England, >> why? >> Yeah. Yeah. Is that good? I all the way. through Sunday Night Football and. beyond. You're talking about football.
really hitting its prime. And then. college football Saturday absolutely. absurd. Did you know that Missou was a. real football team? Holy hell. They. pounded that Florida Gator team. Congrats to Eli Drinkitz, who gets his. first win. That would be considered a. great win at the end of the season. And. maybe this is a sign of things to come. And what the hell's going on with. Florida, let alone Florida. We got. another college football slate this. upcoming weekend that's going to be. great. NFL is going to deliver tonight. as uh the Falcons from Atlanta travel. here to New Orleans in the Superdome as.
we pay tribute to the 20-year. anniversary of the Superdome reopening. back up after the 13 months uh Katrina. devastation catastrophe took place to. this region. Now, tonight is going to be. a little bit of an interesting battle. here in the NFC South. We might be. seeing the future of this incredible. rivalry down here. Michael Pennix Jr. looked unbelievable last week. That. offense absurd. Behan Robinson. outrageous. And in prime time, he's even. better than he is at 1:00. So whenever. the lights are the brightest, Austin.
Hooper scoring touchdown in 2026. Whenever the lights are the brightest. and whenever magic is uh in store, Bejan. Robinson plays his absolute best. But. will the magic of this New Orleans city. and the revival of this entire region 20. years ago become the story line as Tyler. Shuck and Kelly Mo are one and a half. point favorites at home. So, football. will wrap up its weekend beautifully. here at the Superdome and um I got a. chance to chat with an officer down here. named James as I was walking up here to. this particular location and it's. beautiful up here. It's great view. Air.
conditioning is working. Shout out to. that. James was working uh here at the. Superdome back in 2006 and 2005 when. Katrina took place and just asking him. the questions about how this place. became last resort home for 12 days for. like 25 30,000 people as at the. beginning they had no idea what the. devastation would be become and this. place that not only obviously harbors. incredible atmosphere and energy and one. of the best environments in all of. sports, it also became an actual home.
for people who needed it most. So I. think this super doome is such a good. symbol of the region that has come. together and had to rally and beat. something that tried to attack them over. damn near 1400 deaths from Katrina. >> Damn near 1,400 deaths. Obviously they. say like $125 billion in damages to the. area and to the region and it's like how. do well uh the Gulf just happened and. weather started. It's like what? So an. incredible place. You can feel the. energy. Obviously a place of celebration. and hosting cuz everybody comes down. here to have a blast. And tonight we.
should do the exact same as we celebrate. ball being incredible. It's not just me. and AJ. Let's go to the toxic table at. Boston Connor and at Ty Schmidt and then. one half. Can you cut Bruce or Okay. All. right. Are you all right? Is everything. okay back there, Bruce? Are are we alive. or no? >> Bruiser. Bruce. >> But yeah, we are back. We are back. >> Hey, way to go Bruce in the back. >> Way to battle. >> And Nick Moraldo in the back. Way to. battle. I am happy for you. But just let.
me know what's not possible. Uh because. I am pretty far removed as AJ's there in. the Thunderdome. And then one half of. the hammer. >> Cowboys AP Tone is here. Can't wait to. hear the trends coming out of this. particular weekend of what we need to. gamble. Good double gun. That would be a. penalty in the NFL, which there was a. lot uh this particular weekend. Nine-year NFL vet Darius J. Butler also. in the Thunderdome. Debbuts. What a. weekend of ball. What a Sunday actually. debut. That was uh absurd from beginning. to end. But I I know we have our top. five and the Colts aren't going to make. it on the top five. Do we have a Daniel.
Jones problem? What's going on? And we. obviously get a huge win in London over. the Commanders. And remember, we took. the Chiefs almost to overtime or two. overtime, almost got a win in overtime. We elected to kick a field goal. Patch. Mahomes comes down and beats us. So, we. could be three and one right now. Should. should I be as in on the Colts as I am. right now? DBud after what you saw in. London. And also, shout out to David. Pash, Jason Kelsey, uh Curt Warner, and. Molly McGrath. thought it was an. incredible game. I enjoyed the entire. experience, but at the beginning, I was.
having a heart attack and pooping. because Daniel Jones looked like poopy. Daniel Jones from the past and not what. we saw last year. Deb, >> yeah, it was tough. It's been tough. I. don't know if it's protection. I don't. know what it is, but uh he's got to take. care of the football as a quarterback. You know, that was Daniel Jones biggest. issue coming to Indie. That's what most. people worry about. We all talked about. the poll, you know, how the optimism. level for Colts fans and we saw it kind. of rearing its ugly head once again. I. don't know how that game would have. panned out if Mariota didn't go down. early. They were up uh I think six.
points. They had already lost two. turnovers. You got to take care of the. football. But like you said, in this. league, it's about. >> that's a penalty. >> It's about finding a way to win. And we. did. You know, feed JT. I think that. needs to be our uh game plan going. forward. Feeding JT, feeding Josh Downs. But you got to take care of the football. if you're if you're Daniel Jones. The. ball is the program. I know Carly's. getting a lot of I guess heat for her. role on the sideline which she's been. doing for years. >> What's she been doing? What do you mean? What she been doing? >> You know, just out in, you know, taking. notes, asking questions, doing all the.
things that I think, you know, people. should want their owner to be doing. I. don't mind what she's been doing, but. once the team isn't looking a certain. way, the expectations have been high. here as far as GM, the head coach, the. roster that we put together, there's. going to be more and more questions, but. I don't mind it. But, uh, we got the. win. We got it overseas. Big time win. Big time day for Jonathan Taylor once. again. But yeah, there are a lot of. questions about our quarterback right. now. >> Yeah, Jonathan Taylor, I think, has six. or seven international touchdowns, which. is the most out of anybody that's played. internationally. So, how's that for. being worldwide sensation Indianapolis.
Colts? Um, Daniel Jones not looking. great early. We get a huge win. AJ, we. win ugly. I like that. Okay. I I like. that we're winning games ugly. Don't. love that we look so bad. And don't love. that we're not a part of the top five. AJ, I think there's a top five headlines. of the weekend that we need to discuss. Don't you think that? >> Yeah, I think we should probably get it. get to those, don't you? >> Yeah, I think so. And I don't know which. camera to use here. I'm going be honest. Cuz like one of them is, you know, that. one I think I'm too far. And also, you.
know, uh. >> how many small You got a lot of cameras. >> A lot of cameras. It's incredible setup. here. It's incredible setup here. Barcode and the team did a phenomenal. job. It's almost uh too big, you know? It's it's like, you know what I mean? like it feels like it's a bit much for. just one person standing here in this. beautiful Superdome, but there's legends. literally everywhere around here. And. you know, it was nice to have this pop. up whenever I got here. Uh look look up. there. Who's that? >> Oh yeah. >> Who's that? Who Who's that? Jar Evans,
obviously. Hell yeah. Legend. Love that. >> Archie Manning being right over my. shoulder. I absolutely love especially. after the weekend we had in Knoxville. just last weekend. You forget about how. many legends are in this place. You. forget about how special this super dumb. is to football until you walk in here. and then you just kind of think back to. whenever Drew Brees beat your team by 70. on Sunday Night Football. Boy, >> I don't know if it was actually 70. It. could have been 100. I I don't know what. the final score was. >> Feels like uh. >> were you there? Were you on the team. that year? >> Oh, no. I had my own shellacking in New.
England. Uh, it was, look, it you play. Big Ben, Brady, Payton, Manning, but if. you were ever in the middle of one of. those Drew Bre Drew Brees, Shawn Payton. blenders in that stadium, it was ugly. It was it felt like an avalanche. And. I'm sure I'm sure the experience was. much much the same for you and the boys. >> 627, by the way, Pat. >> Oh, yeah. It wasn't wasn't that bad. >> Okay. So, 62-7. It felt like that. I'm going to be. honest. I think first play we had a.
fumble. We got the ball. Obviously, we. like to elect to receive what's not let. Drew Brees on the field early. >> Uh, we get the ball. I think first play. was either a pick six or a fumble six or. something like that. I forget what it. was. >> And then I think it was three and out. and then I believe it was 14 quick. before like maybe a minute into the. game. I I maybe it might have been like. a minute into the game. And I've told. this story before so uh obviously people. have heard it but it's legit and I think. it's real. It's my only memory really. about this place. I played quarterback. uh during practice against the back end. What's that? Seven, whatever the hell it. is. You guys know what it's called?
Seven on seven card. Okay. Hey, card. Boom. Bang. Boom. Boom. You're doing. this. I was quarterback for first second. year of my career. I That's I literally. did that. I I ran running back for the. linebackers uh to give them a look. Actually took some hits in practice. I. think looking back on it, wow. You know, kind of an interesting thing that was. happening there as I was doing touchs. And then I would throw uh to the back. half or whatever for cards. I had so. much fun doing it. Made made me feel. pretty active. Uh and there were some. weeks where I really cooked. No week was.
as hot in the kitchen for me as the New. Orleans Saints taking on that. Indianapolis Colts team. Now, I don't. know if it was our Tampa 2. I don't know. if it was our personnel. I don't know if. it was the calls. But what I do know is. I threw at me. I threw for 10,000 yards. that week and maybe maybe 60 touchdowns. I I mean, maybe we look this way, boom, then we look this way and Jimmy Graham's. wide open right down to boom, take it. We looked this way and then boom, we hit. tight end on the backside down and they.
did just that. I mean, they did just. that. Never seen something more obvious. before getting on a plane. What was. going to happen? And uh we didn't have a. stop for it. A lot of people didn't. AJ, have you ever played down here? Have you. won down in this place? This place is. like notoriously impossible to win. >> Yeah, it's uh super loud. I have not. gotten a victory there, I believe. I. know. We got smoked in a Sunday night. game there at one point. And all I can. remember, yes, is Drew Brees seemed like. he he was unconscious and whatever they. whatever Shawn Peyton caught into him. seemed to work. like whatever defense we. tried to show him, however you try to. confuse him, pre- snap, post snap,
doesn't matter. It was like he's reading. your mail as coaches used to say and. knew what we were going to do and it. felt like whatever you choose, whatever. we try to do, they had an answer for it. and they were just rolling. And that. crowd, it it is truly special. Once that. crowd gets behind them, which they are. the whole time, especially when they get. in lead and that offense is rolling, it's it's damn near impossible to win. down there. >> Yeah, they got all these characters, right? There's like a whistle and. there's uh there's a trombone, I. believe, and there's a sign and there's. other I mean it's there's costumes. It's. a party in here. And uh I they know.
ball. They know when to be loud and when. not to be loud. And uh I think tonight. Michael Penn, welcome back. You know, like hey, this is life now in the NFC. South for you. Especially if Shuck and. Kelly Mo are going to have the boys. being a good football team for the. foreseeable future. Okay, a lot of good. football, a lot of questionable. football. There's top five headlines. that we need to get to from the weekend. Let's go. Top five, top five, top five. top five. >> Number five, football is the greatest. It's a onepossession league. I mean this. when I say this, and I tweeted this out.
yesterday. It's like football's just. awesome. Honestly, if you're any of. these teams that ended up in one of. these one-sore games, and we can throw. the Giants into this as well because. they had a pick six literally as a. walk-off. Okay, they literally had a. pick six as a walk-off. Would have been. a one-sore game as well. It's just how. can you not be excited for literally all. four quarters of ball. There is fourth. quarter comebacks seemingly every single. time slot, every single weekend, every. single football experience has something. where you can hold on hope that your.
team won't be asked. Randell Red Zone. channel yesterday, Scott Hansen, there. was a time where there's four different. things happening within a span of 11. minutes. 11 minutes. There was a third. and 14. There was a this. There was a. this. There was. And it's like, how is. football so awesome? all the time. So, I. just kind of wanted to give a thank you. to that. But then there's a couple games. that I think we need to talk about. If. there's going to be this many one. possession games and this many chances. for massive comebacks, it's like your. special teams has to be good. You know. what special team was special yesterday? AJ Hawk, >> who's that? >> Can't say Chiefs. Coach Tob, so.
obviously we talk about Spagnolo on the. defensive side, he's a Hall of Famer. Andy Reid on the offensive side, he's a. Hall of Famer. Tob special teams. coordinator, he's a Hall of Famer as. well. if they put special team. coordinators into the Hall of Fame. He's. been around forever. Arisa has a fake. punt yesterday. Okay, so Las Vegas says, "We don't do a re kick. Everybody's. going to be tired." Arisa says, "Let's. go ahead and collapse down the right. side. I'm a better athlete than people. think I am. I'm fast. Get the edge. Take. a big shot. Pop up. How you doing?". Remember in college he was doing [ __ ].
like this. They wanted him to win the. Heisman in college. This guy, he was. kicking field goals. He was kicking off. He was punting. He was running. He was. throwing. He was catching. He was. tackling. This guy's a freak show. athlete. I think people forget that. because how low in the totem pole of. athleticism a punter's position is. But. the Raiders just collapse their entire. side. No edge, no chance. First down. Can't let that happen in a game. It's. going to be a one possession game. Can't. give up fake punts. Okay. Well, how. about a punch out on another punt Chiefs. had a punch out. Oh, I'm sorry. On a. kickoff here, a punch out and they. create another turnover. Get on the.
ball. It's like the Kansas City Chiefs. just absolutely throttled the Raiders. and special teams. This is fourth. quarter, 314, four-point game. It's like. all these onep possession games are. going to spotlight the little things on. your team even more if you can't. >> What a punch. What an incredible punch. >> Everyone jump in here now. You know, it's good to run to the ball. Great. things happen when you run to the ball. I look at this. Like everybody's piling. in there. When something like that does. happen, you got to be able to. capitalize. >> Oh yeah. And then last but not least, before we reiterate the finer things. being literally a win or a loss, a Super.
Bowl or a fired from job, Arisa punts. him down at a one in the four. I mean, this is 126 left in the fourth, up. three. Hey, you already got a fake punt. And your special teams has a punch out. already. What else you going to do? Uh, let me just hit a perfect punt and and. have the gunners do this. It's like, okay, Kirk, you got 50 yards you got to. drive here, okay, to get into field goal. range to tie this thing up. good luck. and your play sheets like this big. So, I think if there's going to be this many. onep possession games, AJ, I think. you're going to have to be able to play.
incredible special teams. I think it's. going to be a real thing, especially. with how many more kicks are being. covered and everything like that. AJ, >> absolutely. I think as the season moves. on, and I I'm a broken record talking. about the elements when we got to play. outside when things like this happen, if. you're the Kansas City Chiefs, you do. you do need to rely on your special. teams to help you win one or two games. And this is one right here that we know. like if their special teams doesn't come. up huge and make multiple big plays like. there's a good chance the Raiders walk. away with a win here. >> And it's a rare situation where the. Chiefs got that ball in this situation. They they stopped the clock a couple. times with some incomplete passes. Then.
it was a bad snap on third down. Something you almost never see from Andy. Reid Mahomes operation and the special. teams comes in, pins the Raiders back. and that essentially basically seals the. game for him. So I mean great great. complimentary football right there. >> You want to talk about complimentary. football? How about the Los Angeles Rams. debut? What a comeback win. That was. magical over there. And it got a lot of. people wondering if Sirriani should be. the damn coach now in Philly yet again. >> A lot of questions over there. Shawn. McVey actually had to get a monkey off. his back. This is the one team he didn't. have a victory against. I think it was. one and six or maybe one victory.
against. Always getting their [ __ ]. kicked in. And it was something. interesting I saw from this game before. we even get to the players. The coach. rarely do you see a head coach kind of. rally the boys, rally the squad on the. sideline. Sometimes that's a. coordinator, sometimes even a veteran. player. But this paid off well for them. They kicked their ass out, gained them. by damn near 300 yards, 415 to 172. yards. Let's get to the actual tape. Just see some of these clips. Puka Noola. made his presence felt. He coming back. Got nine catches, 125. Obviously, Matt.
Stafford doing his thing. Kairen. Williams got going just an all-around. team effort. Byron Young strip sack on. the last uh play of the game. On the. flip side, you talked about those. questions for Sirriani. Those questions. are coming from the offense. Once again, defense actually stepped up for him. got. a couple turnovers, set the offense up. to get some scores, but the offense did. not show up. Jaylen Herz, 10 passing. yards in the second half, 93 passing. yards and 27 drop backs. Just absolutely. cannot have it. But on the flip side, the Rams found a way to rally from 10.
down and get a big big win on the road. So yeah, this was an unbelievable game. from start to finish. >> Unbelievable game. There's an. unbelievable team down in Duvalcon, man. >> Yeah, fantastic. I mean, the Bengals, we. talked about after the first week being. one of those teams like, hey, they could. go on a run. The Jags for me, I mean, after yesterday going into Cincy, getting a victory, their offense and. Trevor Lawrence and Liam Cohen get a lot. of attention, but their defense is. unbelievable. They were down in the red. zone a couple times in the second half. where, you know, Alua Khan made a. massive interception right on the red. zone here. Trevor Lawrence, Debut has.
said this before about certain. quarterbacks when guys are throwing it. and the ball leaves the screen, sometimes you're not sure, is this going. to be an interception? Is this going to. be an absolute rope? Trevor Lawrence has. just been throwing ropes all over the. field. He was 18 to 23. Basically, every. single ball he had seemingly was going. right where it needed to be, but their. defense showed up. You know, I mean, I. know Joe Burrow had 400 plus pass yards. and Teigans and Jamar, you know, they. unfortunately got hurt, but Alukon here, you know, right at the start of the.
fourth quarter with a red zone. interception, that was huge. And then to. end the game, you know, the Bengals are. driving down. It looks like they're. going to make, you know, the plays to. that they need to to win the game. And. then boom, that hit right there to keep. them out. Fourth down, turnover. Jags. win the game. Jags are Super Bowl. contenders. Look out for him. >> Yeah, they certainly are. And Travis. Hunter is a certified number one DB. It. looks like DB. This guy. And then he. shook the [ __ ] out of I mean, that is. that's got to be one of the stiffest. that I've uh seen in some time. I mean,
just a fullon backpedal explosion juke. out of one of the most athletic guys in. the league. D But this Travis Hunter. defense feels like the right spot for. him. Did we know this all along this was. going to be the case? And do we think. there'll still be some packages for. money offensively? >> You know, there was a lot of questions. about uh their idea of trying to make. him play both ways. It's just tough. It's a reason I think why we haven't. seen anyone do it. I think if he focused. on either offense or uh defense. primarily, he could be an allp pro at. either position. He's been doing it at. corner. They've actually been rotating.
at corner. Everybody into that back. end's been playing great. But I think. this is kind of the beginning of Travis. Hunter. Got his first pick last week. against the uh Patriots. This one I. believe got called back, but just. unbelievable show of athleticism. And we. always say it picks come in bunches. So. I think we may just see 12 making play. in play in play in every week now. But. yeah, I'm excited about his future at. quarterback right now in the NFL. >> Okay, Debbuck, quick question for me. Travis Hunter, uh he put on some weight. Would that be to play DB? Do you think. he knew coming in he's probably going to. be playing a little bit more DB than.
wide receiver or would that be for both. positions? >> I think both positions. I think it's. just about durability. You know, you. want to put on a little extra sheath, a. little extra layer of muscle. Typically, you see a lot of guys, I guess, hit. their peak in college. You know, physically, you probably put on, you. know, 15, 20 pounds if you're a. quarterback, wide receiver. He waited, I. guess, until he got into the league. So, I'm loving what he's doing in the weight. room. And you love to see that when guys. show up from an offseason and you can. just look at them and say, "Okay, I can. see the work you've been putting in." I. love to see that. But health, health is. everything with Travis Hun. As long as.
he stays on the field, continue to get. reps, he will continue to get better. >> He looked phenomenal whenever he showed. up to the Jags camp. CJ Strad looked the. way that everybody judged. We don't have. to get into that right now. Was at his. early sign. 0 and4. Only one other team. in the history has been able to go from. 0 and4 to the playoffs. Maybe the. Houston Texans are next. There's four. teams currently looking to potentially. do that. There's also a Super Bowl. champion returning team that had a. chance to play against a team that is. going the complete opposite direction. that we thought whenever you talk about. 0 and4 AJ. What the hell is up with the. Chargers or is this more hey good for.
the Seahawks? >> Uh I don't I I think this was kind of a. weird game. The Chargers come into town. If Pat, I don't know if you know this. First play of the game Justin Herbert. throws a pick. Next play Sam Donor comes. in. Boom throws a pick. The game was. kind of up and down back and forth. I. mean Seattle jumps out to an early lead. They were playing very well. I mean, the. Chargers were actually down 27-6 in the. third quarter here. They find a way to. to fight back. Justin Herbert at one. point, I thought, was done for the day. He took a nasty shot to the ribs. His. buddy, his O lineman helps him up. And. I'm thinking, all right, what are you. going to do here? You're going to have. to get your backup going. I believe Trey.
Lance is out there. They're showing him. a little bit. And Herbert comes back the. very next play, had a chance to throw. the ball away. Had a chance. He's. scrambling. He went and took another. shot. Like the guy, it was a real. gritty, gutty performance, gutsy. performance. I think Jim Harbo even said. that afterwards. I was thinking honestly. watching this. I thought if the Chargers. pull this game out, this is one of those. games you point to and you say, "Hey, this is when our season turned around. This is when we finally figured it out. and we did all the things that we needed. to do and come from behind win on the. road against the defending Super Bowl.
champs." But the Super Bowl champs are. the Super Bowl champs for a reason. They. found a way to buckle down. Also, there. was 30 penalties in this game. 16 on the. Chargers, 14 on the Seattle Seahawks, which is just unheard of. I'd love to go. through with a fine tooth comb and see. which ones are garbage, which ones are. not. I'm not exactly sure, but Chargers. had a chance. What? Minute, a minute 30, minute 40 left. Uh, and Seattle comes. back. They were only down one score. Seattle sack, cause fumble, game over. Here we go. The champs are the champs. But yeah, kind of a messy game, a dirty.
game. I know both coaches are not super. happy, but Seattle gets a win. >> So, yeah, I mean, Seahawks 3 and one, Chargers 0 and4. Jim Harbaugh being. asked about uh McDaniel's future saying. we got a lot of skilled players. I'm. excited for their grow and coaches. I'm. excited for their growth. Awkward. silence. So, are you firing a guy or No, no, no. I think he's talented. I think he needs. to continue to build. But on that note, with what we expected him to be like. with Herbert versus what it has been, I. don't like it one bit. I don't like it.
one bit. Ty her and we saw Herbert. We. think he's happy. Definitely happy. >> off the field. >> Herbert 19 of 31. >> 19 of 31. 189 yards. This is a stat line TD. Two. interceptions plus 40 rush yards. It's. like I was expecting him to go for 400. yard. Now the Seahawks defense. obviously. >> Yeah. >> Let's have some respect. Please. We. Let's please have some respect for the. Seahawks defense. I I am trying to do. that in real time while also saying what.
the hell, Ty. I I thought Herbert and. McDonald were about uh about to change. or McDaniel were about to change the. entire NFL and the way offenses look. Remember McDaniel told us he's got to, you know, do the next chess move. Got to. do the next chess move. What is it? Is. this Herbert Tai? Is this Is this. McDaniel? Your thoughts on what we. expected versus what has come to. fruition. And they got 13 more games. left. Can they still save it, Ty? >> Uh, no. I do not think they can still. save it. We've talked about how tough. their schedule is moving forward. and.
you have the Chiefs sitting at 4-0 and. the Raiders at 3-1 in their division. The Broncos aren't exactly a bunch of. slouches either. I don't know if you can. blame it uh on either one of them. Obviously, you know, McDaniels, he did. what he did with two and I think. everyone just assumed, hey, wait until. he gets his hands on Herbert. But uh. Herbert, this is kind of just always. been, you know, the thing we we know how. talented he is. We've always wanted to. see him kind of do it in the big spots, but this year it's been weird. A lot of. people have been saying, "Hey, he's. uncomfortable in this offense. He. doesn't really know where he's supposed.
to go with the ball yet. And he's never. like been he's never been a rahrh guy. He's never really been like uh hey, I. need to find the camera. But I tell you. what, his body language has been. terrible this year. Like it it's almost. like he's going out there saying like I. don't trust what we're trying to do, but. I'm going to go do it anyway. And uh it. clearly isn't working. They always have. the injury issues. You know, I I don't. think anyone thought that, you know, losing their center early in the year. would be this big of a death sentence, but we saw how much it affected coach. Harbaugh. Maybe that was just kind of a.
storm cloud that rolled over the entire, you know, Chargers facility and and. hasn't left. But I don't I mean, at this. point, any any type of kind of positive. movement forward would maybe be a win, but you start 0 and4 with that division, with that schedule, unfortunately, I. think the Chargers may be dead already. at the start OF OCTOBER HERE. OH NO, >> I DON'T LIKE THAT. I had such high. hopes. Actually, I had such high hopes. for them, for us as a daily sports show, for Herbert, for everything we know he.
could be, for McDaniel, everything we. know he could be, for Jim Harbaugh, but. his Dober being Don that day was. potentially a uh indicator of everything. that was to come. Remember, one team has. been able to go from 0 and4 to the. playoffs. So, we think these teams can. still do it. Hey, come on. >> Come on. I don't know. >> Yeah, maybe. Good luck. >> Come on, guys. Let's do a little bit of. that. Let's talk about a team that. started out absolute shite that we had. high hopes for. How about the Patskin? A. huge win over the Bills con man. Good.
for you. That was another close one. And. hi, Mark. I'm happy that you're uh. finding some happiness hopefully out of. this because boy, your dober was way. done. I I mean, Red Red Sox lose to the. Yankees. Who knows what the hell's going. on with the Bruins? You know, there was. a big storm. I think like everything was. kind of down up there in Boston for a. bit. Legit, I I think Conman had his. dober weighed down. How do we feel now? Do we feel good after the way we've. responded after the first couple weeks? >> Uh yeah, my doers bricked up. Uh I got.
Duncan this morning just to kind of feel. the entire New England region kind of. coursing through my veins once again. It. was a massive win. You know, AJ talked. about how the Chargers could have had a. season defining win in Seattle. This is. a season defining win for the Patriots. in Buffalo. This is back-to-back years. now where they go in there, come back, late drive from Drake May. This one to. Eff Chisum who we all know and love. He's the next Wes Welker. Julian. Edelman. Hard hat lunch pale guy. Uh and. >> Amandola. What do you mean?
>> Amandola you could throw in there. He. didn't really start with New England. Yeah, I guess he you you know what? Yeah, we'll throw Amandola in there as. well. But Chisum might be damn near the. best one out of all of them. This was. unbelievable from Effton Chisum the. third. All respect to Julie Edelman. I. won't go that far but still. >> potential Hall of Famer. >> Potential Hall of Famer Super Bowl MVP. fantastic player. But Effton Chisum. showing up in a big spot and that's. what's so big about this one. You know. M. Hollands, he got hurt midame. He. stepped up. Christian Gonzalez, Christian Barmore, both of those guys,
they were out for the entire game. We. had guys stepping up all across the. field. Here is one of the most, oh no, missed a sack. What are we doing to Oh, yeah. That's what I'm talking about. PICK, BABY. THIS game's over. It It was. remarkable. I damn near lost my voice. because I was screaming so loud for. Chisum and then for Craig Woodson who. missed last week's game to come back and. make this play. It's just fantastic. today to be a Patriots fan. And this. will turn around the season. And the. Pats are back, baby. Let's go. >> Good for you. Good for ball. I uh I'm.
sure everybody's excited. The Patriots. fans are going to be back in our lives. being confident about their team, not. being absolute shite. Debbut, are you. buying the Patriots after a win. yesterday? >> Oh, yeah. I'm buying them. I'm buying. them. Not Not so I mean the win was. huge. It was a lot of questions. Everybody was talking about Drake May. and his regressions. But I I trust the. players in that building and I trust the. coach. They got a good coaching staff as. well. So yeah, if I'm buying stock like. you guys do on game day, I'm buying. stock in the Patriots for sure. >> Hey, we did that this past weekend.
That's the first time we've had to do. that. You know, if you buy it, you got. to sell it then. And I don't. >> I already have to do enough that puts me. in quite a situation with a lot of. different people. So, I just went with. Pit. That just felt like the easiest one. to sell. Yeah, >> they're hot right now. Nard Dudes has a. couple sick gifts out there, you know, a. couple great quotes. Everybody loves. them. I'll go ahead and sell that. Buying the stock of the Patriots, though. Fun to think about, you know, especially with the teams that we have. around the league. And how about buying. stock in Jameus Winston, AJ, at this. stage of his life? Malik Neighbors going.
into yesterday not great. Malik. Neighbors now career day. How we doing? Keep it moving. Jameus and him got it. figured out. Then you have Jameus. Winston giving postgames interview. saying Philippians 4:13. Is that what he. said? You would know better. Do we know. which Philippians it was? >> I can do all things. >> Uh yeah, I believe. Yeah. 4:13 would be. Yeah. I can do all things through Christ. who strengthens me. >> Nice. >> No. So that wasn't that one. It was. another Philippians because I I I think. what Jamus was thinking that was. Philippians doesn't get enough credit. Everybody thinks he only has one bar. He's got entire. >> Oh, yeah. Sure. Okay. Yeah, I I can see.
that as well. Several. >> He said something about looking forward, moving on, and then he tied it all back. together. And it was a classic Jameus. Winston. I mean, but I think he was. getting interviewed by Adidi. She said. the Jameus Winston experience happened. today. I think he had three touchdowns, two picks. I mean, this is this is what. it is. And then he drops a bar in the. postgame interview. Is this perfect for. New York in New Jersey? Do we hate this? I think I love it, AJ. I I think this is. the perfect outcome with what happened. to Jackson Dart. Obviously, we wish he. was healthy, but an entire season.
potentially of Jameus Winston football. just back to what he was with the Bucks. maybe with the Giants. Electrifying in. my eyes. And they get a huge win over a. good Arizona Cardinal team, agent. >> Yes. And this throw right here down the. seam going into halftime was a huge play. for this team. And that's the thing like. Jamus. Yeah, I love it because at least. it's going to be fun. Like at least. we're going to have a good time watching. this New York football Giants team. I. know Bruce has got a lot going on behind. the glass. I am sure Bruce was rocked up. seeing this game happen because I still. believe the Arizona Cardinals are a. solid football team. I know some people. are starting to write them off. I think.
they're still a very good team. I know. there's stuff going on. Trey McBride, the ref, all that. We'll get into it. But, uh, for Jamus, like we know there's. always going to be something like either. it's going to be awesome or it's going. to be really, really bad most likely. And Jamus is going to be at the heart of. it and he's going to be leading them to. to some victories. I don't know how many. that may be, but we're going to have fun. watching. >> It's a volatile stop, I tell you. >> Very volatile. It is. You're right. >> He also palar. >> He also went on the top list. You. mentioned it, Pat. The multiple. touchdowns, multiple interceptions. He's. at the top of that list all time when it.
comes to all the quarterback. >> No doubt. Hey, congrats and thank you. >> Congrats and thank you for that. Picks. are exciting. Touchdowns are exciting. Jamus says, "I got you on all fronts.". Just like Jesus, always. here for you, which we appreciate. And. then game of the weekend down in Texas. I mean, congrats to CD Lamb going. absolutely crazy. And also George. Pickkins going absolutely absurd. Dak. Prescott going insane. Houston Texans. put up a great fight. Now they're. another 0 and4 team. Uh you know that is. I don't love that but obviously maybe.
they become that. But Dak Prescott, CD. Lamb, George Pickkins and his offense in. an absolute dog fight. Historic day. actually for CD Lamb debut. What did you. see from this Dallas Cowboys that made. you say, "Yeah, I'm a believer long. term." Or what did you see that say. they're going to have to score 60 points. to beat everybody? Maybe. I mean, I'm. always a believer in a quarterback that. can play like Dak is playing and. operating right now. You talk about CD. Lamb, he's in a conversation, I think, right now with JS for the best wide. receiver in ball. I know he got his. money a few years ago, but he's been.
playing unbelievable. George Pickkins on. the other side of that offense. That. helps with that. But he got open, I. think, 17 catches, 189 yards, and a. touchdown. Just unbelievable. Was a. go-to guy all throughout this game. They. were down 10. Fault had a game-winning. drive, I believe 11 plays, 75 yards. CD. Lamb was a big big part of that. So. yeah, I have all the faith in the world. in that offense. Now defense, still some. things to figure out because CJ Stra, I. think he had a decent day. Nico Collins, two touchdowns. CJ Stout is playing. better than the record. The defense for. the Texans is the question and we'll get.
into that a little bit later. But yeah, the Cowboys ruined the celebration that. Houston has celebrating their 25 years. and all the legends there. Just a big. big time game by the Dallas Cowboys. Cidi Lamb and Dak Prescott. >> CD said he's unguardable. What's he. supposed to say? You know, that's uh. that's like when they ask Joe Flacco if. he thinks he's elite. It's like. >> uh yeah, I don't know. They pay me $100. million. I've won a Super Bowl. I think. it's pretty [ __ ] elite compared to. who? Like a high school quarterback or.
like how do you want me to look at that? CD, are you guardable? Nah. And I don't. think there's a single wide receiver. that's ever played in the NFL that. thinks they're guardable, but CD might. not be, especially with George Pickkins. on the other side. The fact that they. can both eat, great news. George. Pickkins obviously playing on a. franchise tag. And Tone, I don't know if. you saw 24 snaps, one target, zero. reception, zero yards or something like. that for uh Joey Porter Jr. for the. Dallas Cowboys. Tone, how do you feel. about that whole outcome? >> Yeah, he's a very, very, very good. quarterback. I'm very happy for him that.
he's down there uh playing on the same. contract that he could have been playing. on with the Pittsburgh Steelers. So, I'm. pretty pumped to see what he did. yesterday. >> Yeah, I'm sure you are. A lot of. Pittsburgh Steelers fans have very uh. relaxed reactions to Joey Porter Senior. put on a video supporting his son. You. know, we follow him yesterday. >> We done Bush. >> You want to follow Joey Porter? >> Yeah. I don't need to be seeing that. I. don't need it on my timeline. I don't. care. I don't care. I don't care that. he's doing it. >> I don't need to be seeing it. Don't need. to be rubbing it in my face.
>> He's not rubbing in your face. He was. just He's supporting his boy. Supporting. his boy. Listen, I didn't leave. They. take him away. I don't follow any of my. exes on Instagram. Okay. >> Smart. >> What about their dads? >> Me either. >> What? >> All right. Okay. >> They came from his sex. >> All right. Yeah, Gum's having a good. time over here, dude. Look at this guy. Oh, wait. That's not gum [ __ ] I had to. put your back on the side. I had Archie. Manning there. I'll get that figured. out. Um, okay. Let's go to the next. headline, shall we? Number four. Hey,
refs and injuries. Enough. Okay. like. this is we're done with it. >> How many penalties? 233 or something. like 20 and some penalties yesterday. 16. accepted penalties. >> in the Bengals Jags first half. yesterday. Now remember the big. conversation is the Jets had 32 total. plays. 16 accepted penalties in the. first half of Jaguars Bengals. That's. unwatchable. That that is that is. actually unwatchable. You know what I.
would watch though? I might watch the NFL a little bit more. if uh. >> if the refs are just gonna walk around. telling everybody to go f themselves. I. I might actually do that. I know there's. been quite a reaction from JC Treader in. the NFL PA because they are sticking up. for their player and the players are. obviously getting stuff a lot of time. But this refing Trey McBride the best. tight end in in ball, George KD. certainly going to have a conversation. with that obviously immediately soon. very quick and Travis obviously still. there. But this ref telling Trey McBride.
number 90 a 99 rating on Madden. One of. the stars of our game just. [ __ ] you multiple times. I know people. don't like it maybe. I love it. I am a. huge advocate of this because you go to. the complete opposite end of the. spectrum. Very gets a personal foul for. saying like something that is said by. coaches and players to refs all the. time. >> All the time. Y. Now, refs and um. coaches and players are all on the field. together. They're all in the same.
mindset. Obviously, respect has to be. shown to the refs, and the refs have the. ability to kind of handle the sword at. any given time that they want. Everybody. on the field knows that, but we're all. adults here. We're all professionals. here. We all understand that sometimes. there's going to be some mistakes and. heated moments and I think a lot of refs. deal with it on a very regular basis. which is why I don't mind an FU or two. coming back, you know, just like how NHL. refs operate because there's players and. coaches talking to refs like this all. the time. >> But Mike Vel getting boxed out by the. sticks guy and then also reaching around.
to make sure you can hear that. Hey, just to make sure you could hear what. he's saying. I think what he said, I. mean, I don't think this should be a. flag. Like I don't think this should be. a flag. And if we're going to throw a. flag on this type of stuff, just like. with when Jonathan Taylor's doing tea, like you're going to find a lot of. things to throw a flag at. So, I'm okay. with the ref telling Trey McBride that, okay, cuz that I don't know what those. two are going through at that particular. time. But I'm not okay with the ref. throwing the flag at what Vel did. I I I. think we just need to understand like, hey, this is the communication process.
that is going to probably happen in. professional sports with billions of. dollars on the line with humans trying. to make decisions in real time. So, that's where I'm at. AJ, I I don't know. where you are in this entire thing. That's where I'm at on those two. particular cases. You can also hit how. many flags there were yesterday. It was. pretty disgusting to watch some of these. games. 16 in the first half, Jacksonville, Cincinnati. >> Yeah, that's just way too many. But. also, if you're going to start flagging. people for language, where do you draw. the line? What cuss word is bad enough. to draw a flag? Is there are they going. to have to write this up in the rule. book now? Like, that's what I would like.
to read or if you get fined for this. stuff. Okay, type it up in my fine. letter and let me know why this crossed. the line. I understand you don't want to. show anybody up. That's the thing. like. you don't want to show anybody up in. front of them like ref to player, player. to ref, but I just don't know what is it. your mood? Is it the how like how much. energy is in the stadium at the time. like what what makes this a flag? I just. don't I don't 100% get it. I don't know. if we will. Have we gotten any kind of. you know clarification on this? I know. Rabel has said this is something I've. said 87 times before to other refs and.
it's never been a flag but for some. reason this time it was. >> which DA kind of leads to my point. I'm. okay with that ref saying that back to. Trey McBride. You know what I mean? Like. cuz players and coaches are saying this. a lot, but I do wish there was a more of. an understanding like the NHL has debut, you know, like the the NHL that the refs. chirp the players players chirp ref. We're all on this ice together. I just. think there should be a little bit more. I I I think we I hate both of these. things happening the way that they kind. of unfolded. Debut, >> you always say as a fan especially, you. don't want refs to be a part of the.
conversation really when you're watching. the game. And now this is back to back. on our top five of the refs have been in. the conversation. Even as players, we. would have those meetings with coaches. and they'll kind of give us the lay of. the land of whichever ref crew we were. going to have that week. And I know you. as a specialist like quarterbacks, coaches, you guys really have a closer. relationship with the different. referees. I know as a DB I was always. trying to find that back judge and just, you know, dap them up, love them up a. little bit. Hey, you going to let let. the boys play today, right? And then you. try to butter them up that way. You. rarely see the opposite side of that. like with Trey McBride. But it's going.
to be interesting to see how this. unfolds as the season goes on because, you know, the league will probably send. out a memo or something to the teams. But I'm interested to see. But I'm like. you. I don't have a problem with these. refs showing personalities. >> Yeah. At all. And I'll tell you, I. didn't expect any of these refs to ever. say that cuz they're all the type of. personality that seemingly becomes a ref. scolding. Like, you know, like I think. that's the type of personality most of. these people have are out there. And. we're not saying they're not important. and we don't like them or respect them,
but it's like come on. Consistency is. all we're asking for. >> We went to. >> and we'll continue to for these reps cuz. they're very important, especially. whenever that negotiation was happening. It's like, hey, we can't these are we. know they mess up a lot and sometimes. they get a little flag happy and who. knows what they're being told by the. league about what type of league we want. to have, you know, which certainly has. happened in the past. But it's like that. that whole varel saying I've said that. 87 times to somebody just makes me think. like I'm okay with refs responding and.
and JC Tredder has to say that as the. NFL PA executive director, but I think. there'd be a lot better game maybe if. that happened more often where everybody. was kind of on the same page. Now let's. talk about the injuries. Man, brutal. >> Yikes. >> I thought you. >> That Thornton thing was disgusting. Anytime there's a dislocation, obviously. it's disgusting. We will not show it. here. I have not talked to Bruce about. that. We will not be running that here. cuz I don't want to see it. If you want. to see it, it's somewhere. It's all over. the internet. I don't like any type of. dislocation. And the fact that he it was. such a clean kind of pool there that he.
didn't even know was happening. Try to. stand up. Disgusting. Uh obviously. pulling for him. Sorry about that. And. all these guys, Lamar Jackson, he he's. quote tweeted, I think, to play a couple. different times now with a couple. different emojis. I don't know what that. means, but he left the game. Saquon. Barkley leaves game. Jamar Chase has a. concussion. He leaves game. T. Higgins. has an ad doctor. He leaves the game. All US leaves game. Joe leaves game. Naylor leaves game. Ed Cooper. Yeah. Rasheed. Everybody Everybody leaves the. game. These are some star studded injury. reports all of a sudden happening and.
we're only after week four, you know, and all this leads back to another game. being added to the season, another game. being added to the schedule. I don't. know if guys are going to be able to. survive. AJ, why do you think is there. more injuries now than we've ever seen. before? Is it for bigger star players, which is why we're recognizing? Like has. it always been this way? And why do you. think it is? Because there's obviously. the old head thought where it's like, well, these guys aren't callous cuz. they're not hitting enough. What do you. think, AJ? Cuz some of these things. obviously like a dislocated ankle, you. can't really control that. Yeah, obviously something. Some of them are.
just like unlucky. We know there's some. things you can't really avoid. They're. unlucky. But I I've been trying to come. up with a theory as to why there are. these so many injuries. Like is it are. we just aware of it now because the. internet because we pay attention to. everything and there's so many I guess. there's more star players now than. before in our mind. >> I honestly I'm not sure. I don't want to. be the old guy that says, "Oh, these. guys don't hit in training camp." You. know, back in the day, training camp's. eight weeks long and they're killing. each other. Sure, like I don't think. that's the answer. That's not what we. should go back to. But I don't know if. the surfaces I don't know if people are.
specialized too much and you're not, you. know, I think sometimes that is a thing. in young kids where you get specialized. in a certain vein, a certain sport and. movements and then I think sometimes you. can open yourself up to different. injuries like that. But honestly, I. really don't know. I don't I haven't. heard anyone else's theory that I am. like, okay, yeah, that makes sense cuz I. just don't know. Debut acts like he may. have something, but I should. >> No, I I definitely don't have. I'll be. interested to see the numbers. I guess. the data from like a Hmbo or Paganetti. or somebody like that who has the. numbers, but it's a violent game. It's a. violent game. Injuries going to happen. I was talking to it uh I was talking.
about this with the boys earlier like it. seems like every like every weekend now, college and pro, you see like some. disgusting injury like every every. weekend it's like four or five or a. stretcher coming out. It's like, damn, it's a violent game. That's the bad part. of it. But when you see names like that, I think the overall awareness, the. overall clicks, tweets, you know, the. bets, the fantasy teams, all these. things that are impacted, we're just. more aware of it. So, I'll be interested. to see what the data says through four. weeks over the last, let's say, 10 or 15. years. But, it's a violent game and it's. a 100% injury rate. It just goes on how.
bad the injury is going to be. And. sometimes that's just a quarter of an. inch or a fall or weight or something. like that. But it it sucks, man. Especially when it's the stars. >> Yeah. I certainly don't like seeing the. stars out. Hopefully, everybody gets. healthy and we see them back as soon as. possible. Let's go to number three. headline here. Hey, there's a level of. being a menace that we haven't seen from. the head coaching ranks at the NFL. happening right in front of our eyes up. there in uh the monster of the mid mid. Hey, Ben Johnson is hilarious.
>> Absolutely hilarious. Obviously, I. thought and I'm saying I'm saying that. because I said it pretty loudly. If a. guy goes for three touchdowns in his. first start after a thousand some days, I assume you're going to continue to. play that guy. But then Ben Johnson. comes out and says like, well, Tyson. Beant lost his position because of. injury. Like that's not how I do things. Like if you get healthy, you go back to. who your spot is. And then everybody was. projecting on who he was starting, I. guess. And he said, "Okay, that's cool. I'm going to start both guys." He has. Case Kanum and Tyson Bean out on the.
field at the same exact time for the. first play of the game. Obviously, one. lined up at wide receiver, uh, Case. Keenum lined up at at quarterback. He. does an inside pitch, gets off the. field. They both have a start now under. their belts for this particular game. Tyson Bean gets a huge win, goes. absolutely crazy. They dominate, absolutely dominate the New York Jets. They're talking time of possession. things that we haven't seen or heard. from before. I mean, double the amount. of f or same amount of first downs as.
plays for the New York Jets. I mean. that's insane to just kind of think. about and Swift doesn't do much. Manung. guy is the guy. So my take away from. this particular uh routing even though. the score wasn't completely absurd. It's. like the reason why Ben Johnson was the. bell of the ball is because his system. if you have great players obviously all. these guys are great players but we. assume if you make it to the NFL you're. a great player. His system is going to. score no matter who's in there. It's. almost like the position as opposed to. the player. And I'm a big- time players.
make plays and that's why teams are good. thing. Ben Johnson, I genuinely believe. this. No disrespect to Manungai. No. disrespect to Case Keenum and certainly. no disrespect to Tyson Bean who. certainly showcased that he was an NFL. caliber quarterback out of West. Virginia. Absolute stud of a man. But. it's like this Ben Johnson guy, if he. had to if he had Gumpy as his. quarterback, okay? If he had that guy. right there as his quarterback, I think. he would figure out somehow how to win a. game. I mean, it's it's unbelievable.
what he's able to do. D, but I know like. when I say that it sounds I don't mean. it to be disrespectful at all, but this. is just like when a quarterback has a. bunch of weapons outside and he'll never. get enough credit because the weapons. are so good, yada yada yada. Like it's. hard for me to fully comprehend how Ben. Johnson can just get any team seemingly. to win. And you know, we got a super. genius in Indie. We just our quarterback. didn't play a great game. We still win. and beat the Commanders by a lot. But. Ben is special, man. I I don't.
understand how he is like this and how. everybody else isn't. What is it, Dud? >> I mean, a lot a lot and you know it when. it comes to professional athletes, like. you said, everybody out there is good. All the coaches are good. Like. confidence is so huge when it comes to. any level of sports, but especially. professional sports. You see the best. player in the world, but these. quarterbacks, wide receivers, tight end, offensive linemen, running backs, they. know when their number is called, my. coach is going to put me in the right. position. So, I just have to show up and. make that play. I'm a big believer in in. good players make great coaches because. all the great coaches of all time, they.
all had great players. Whether it's Bill. Walsh, Bill Bich, Andy Reid, you know, whoever it is, you're going to need some. great players to get you over the top. and actually win championships. And this. right now we're talking about the Bears. winning games and I love how petty Ben. Johnson is with him taking notes of what. everyone's saying in the media, but. come, you know, the third quarter of the. season, week 10, week 12 on, you're not. going to really have a book on these. guys cuz Caleb's going to be back. healthy and then it's going to be a. completely different plays going into. that playoff push, getting ready to play. the game. So, I mean, it's tremendous. what they're doing, winning games now. But, I'm interested to see how much more.
it'll help them down the stretch. But, you know, I've been a big fan of Ben. Johnson, big fan of Caleb, what he's. doing with Beijing and Case Keenum is. unbelievable. Yeah, shout out to the Chicago Bears. being great potentially for the next 30. years because I assume Ben will be able. to evolve through it all. Let's go to. the number two headline, shall we? There. is absolute studs in the NFL right now. that aren't quarterbacks that could. potentially be in the MVP conversation. T-Mac goes insane last night. Okay, absolutely insane. Didn't start out. great. Goes crazy last night. K9, this.
guy's changed the entire Kansas City. Chiefs offense. Changed the entire. seemingly aura of the team. Patrick. Mahomes doesn't have his best night. Kenneth Walker says, "Don't worry, I got. you." And then CD Lamb breaks records uh. on the offensive side. 17 catches, 16. catches, I forget what the final number. was. 17 maybe. >> That's an absolutely insane stat. T-Mac, not only big-time touchdown, but there. was a third and 14 catch on the sideline. in the fourth quarter that was just. outrageous. I I mean, Bryce Young puts. it on a line, that guy's playing it.
crazy as well. Shout out to Bryce Young. finding his way. He gets benched within. the last two years. Has to watch. somebody else play his position. Gets. back in. Leads them to a home playoff. game. Place is packed out. And now. there's real energy and hope that the. Panthers might be a great football team, not just a good football team. And they. could be great if T-Mac continues to. cook like that. Kenneth Walker K9. What. a great nickname. Okay, first of all, great nickname. And what a style to join. alongside Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and then also Eric Benemy who said he.
want to run through somebody's face. That's what he said. I won't run through. a mother's face. So, well, Kenneth. Walker will do that for you. Raiders had. to eat some of that. And then CD Lamb, we already hit on this, AJ. He's uh. absurd. And that's what George Pickins. having a monster day as well. There's. some talent around this league right. now, AJ, that aren't just quarterbacks. that could be in the MVP discussion. First time long time. >> Oh, I think all three of these guys. could absolutely, you know, work their. way into the MVP discussion. But as far. as watching Kenneth Walker, the third, run the ball, D. But he reminds me. sometimes when you see like um say.
you're watching a seventh grade football. game and there's one kid who has a. mustache and his legs are hairy and he's. going through puberty and he's just. dominating people and he cannot be. tackled. Like that's at times what he. feels like. Just watch how confident you. have to be to like make all these moves. stop and start and then it takes nine. dudes to bring you down. Like I think. that energizes the whole team and I just. I put myself in the in their shoes as a. defender and I'm like I don't know what. to do on this guy. you go low, he's. going to you try to take him out low, he's going to his knee's going right.
through your temple and you're going to. be out for four weeks with a concussion. and possible brain damage for the rest. of your life. So, I just don't know. It's it's going to take all 11 to get. this guy down. And when he is healthy. and he's running like this and you. compliment him with Patrick Mahomes and. everything else they have like things. are looking up for legal for Patrick. Mahomes and the Chiefs to get a Super. Bowl MVP fresh in his prime and he's. unbelievable. He's already set a record, I believe, through four games now with. rushing yards. And then the thing we. always talk about the ball is program. guy never fumbles. So you talking about. a guy never fumbles guys that's.
explosive. He can hit the home run plays. in the pass game in the run game. And. then he's forced 43 missed tackles to. your point. The next closest person is. Jir Gibbs with 28. So just think about. that. So guys are in position. You block. it up. Maybe you leave one or two guys. unblocked. Nine is going to take care of. him. Just get downfield and block. somebody else. So he's been. unbelievable. And to pair that with. Mahomes. Now there are some injuries on. the outside. So, we'll see who they'll. sign or how they'll adjust, but it's. just been unbelievable for Andy Reed and. Eric Bammy and then Mahomes and K9 what. he's brought to that building.
>> Yeah, Drew Rosenhouse is snooping. around. >> Drew Rosenhouse is saying Tyreek Hill. might be coming back soon. He's been. looking good. Be a good time for the. Kansas City Chiefs to pick up another. explosive weapon as they continue to try. to build upon the dynasty that they. have. And then the number one headline. out of the weekend is the best are out. west. just talked about the Chiefs and. K9 and then the San Francisco 49ers. What is the deal? They they had to go to.
Australia. Everybody said, myself. included, what a tough distraction to. start this entire season. They go out a. week ahead of time, become Australia's. team almost, do some tours, get in their. lifestyle, eat some Vegemite, have a. Fosters Australian for beer is 10, and I. don't know if Australians actually drink. that. Then they come back, they get. better. And this dude, Brock Party, is. in the MVP conversation since week one. I feel like he is finally getting some. credit as opposed to everybody trying to. pick apart his game. Debo Samuel looks. like he took a trip back in time. And.
George KD fresh off an Achilles. Yeah, right. He was un he wasn't. >> He goes for 59 yards right here as a. 100-year-old man coming off of an. Achilles. And then he mentions. afterwards, it's nice to run away from a. former teammate like that, Huanga, who. is obviously chasing him down. this. Niners team and we have respect for the. Broncos. This Niners team special and if. they can remain healthy, which is. obviously always the problem with the. NerS, they are a problem for everybody. Joining us now is senior NFL insider for. ESPN, a man who has more information on.
all these topics than we do. Ladies and. gentlemen, Adam Shfter, >> what's going on, guys? >> How you Hey, great to see you. Thank you. for joining us here as we wrap up our. top five. Top five, top five. We just. end it there with uh Niners being the. team that is obviously unbeatable at. this particular moment and then also the. Kansas City Chiefs who are also 4-0. Now, we left the Vikings out cuz I think. they have the least amount of touchdowns. of undefeated team in the history of. ball or something like that. Kevin. Oonnell needs to figure that out. Shout. to be shout out.
>> What a what a start to the season on. defensive side. Let's start with the. Chiefs though. They're signing Tyreek. Hill. Is that what we're hearing right. now? And what about Thornton's injury. that kind of either makes us feel happy. or optimistic or devastated about what. happened? >> Well, it was a gruesome injury. You feel. terrible when that happens. His foot was. totally turned sideways. He dislocated. his ankle. They're going to go in today. to determine exactly how long he'll be. out. Um, we'll see if he can make it. back this season. I think that's very. much been the air. But Tyreek Hill is. somebody that had been out there. They.
had been talking to him anyway. He's. getting back in shape. It may be a. little bit here before he's ready to. play. I'm told it's week to week. Could. be ready any point. People have to. remember he's coming off a devastating. injury himself and he's going to need. some time to ramp up, which he's been. doing. Um, but the Chiefs have always. made the most sense and his agent, Drew. Rosenau, said today that he's going to. start negotiating with multiple teams. today. This is what he said. And that he. expects to have a deal here in the next.
few days. So, it sounds like Tyreek Comb. Tyreek Hill will have a new home this. week. Nobody would be surprised if it. was in Kansas City. Like, that's the one. that makes the most sense. Players would. love to have him back there. He's been. there before. It will be a fitting way. to kind of bring closure to your career, make it full circle experience. I I. think to me they are probably the. favorite, but Drew says he's talking to. a few different teams here. >> Okay. Uh AJ has a question for you. Chefy, >> Chefty, I don't want to say like.
anyone's on the hot seat or anything, but like when it comes to they asked Jim. Harbaugh about Mike McDaniel as his OC, and it gets kind of, you know, a weird. answer, I guess. Are are we going to see. any coordinators you think, you know, get moved on uh during this season? We've seen some in-game college. coordinators, you know, kick, you know, kick rocks. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Well, listen, I now that we've. entered October, I I think you always. have the possibility that you're going. to start to see some changes. Um it. hasn't happened yet, but every there.
there always are a few of those in. season. We see, you know, a head. coaching job or two chain chains. You. know, you look at the Charger staff. Jim. Harbaugh said after the game he wasn't. doing anything with Mike McDall. He had. no plans to fire him. Uh this is what he. said on October 4th. We'll see whether. he stands by that or not. But you look. at the staff, it's like, well, who's. going to take over? Like Adam Gase is. the passing game coordinator. You want. Adam Gate. >> to passing the offense? >> Yeah. You have to think, okay, you we're. going to fire this guy.
>> Who are you going to hire? >> Right. There's got to be. >> That's Adam Gase, right? Adam Adam Gase. is this guy. >> Y. >> at the Jets. Yeah. >> Yeah. Yeah. He's jacked up. He's got. those big wide eye, you know. He He's. Don't shoot until you see the wide sea. eyes. Uh Adam Gates be shot from two. miles away. Okay. Um uh let's move. along. a lot of conversation about him. being a failure at the Jets. Um him. being the new offensive coordinator over. McDaniel will certainly be something. that has been a problem though with uh. Justin Herbert and them like we had such.
high expectations. Okay, we have such. high expectations for this team. >> and they're just absolute crap right now. and obviously Seahawks are Super Bowl. champions so I don't want to put that. down at all. Incredible win by them. Defense is phenomenal at what they do. I. just uh I'm bummed out about the. Chargers. Now, there is some things that. could be electrifying uh breaking uh our. timelines here momentarily and we. already saw Joey Porter Jr. get traded. yesterday before Sunday countdown. You. put a list out of potential trade.
people. Diggs has a question for you. about that. Yeah, Shy, especially like. with these surprised 0 and4 teams that. we talked about like the Chargers and. the Texans and others and teams that are. already potentially out of the the. playoff race, but are there any teams or. any players right now that you're kind. of checking in on that you think. potentially could get traded here, you. know, before the trade deadline? >> Well, I think what you have to do is you. have to look at the teams that haven't. been winning and, you know, teams that. are owned for like the Chargers, Khalil.
Mack, last year of his contract. Now, I'm not telling they're not looking to. trade Khalil Mack, but as we get closer. to the November 10th trade deadline. about a month from now, if those losses. are piling up and there's a team that. needs a pass rusher and calls the. Chargers on Khalil Mack, whose deal is. up after the year, why would you not go. send him somewhere if you can get. something back for him? Marvin Harrison. in a situation where I know there are. teams checking him out because they've.
asked me about him. So, um, they're. doing their due diligence on Marvin. Harrison. Tony Pard, similar situation. to Khil Mack where he's in the last year. of his contract. So, if there's a team. in the next month, whoever that is, that. all of a sudden needs a running back on. a winning team, a contender loses a. running back, to me, the first team. they're going to call is Tennessee. Okay. What do you want for Tony Pard, Jerry Judy? The Browns have Denzel. Boston, Casey Conception, these young.
receivers. If there's a contender, um, let's say Kansas City, they don't. get Tyreek Hill, he goes somewhere else. Or another team doesn't get Tyreek Hill. You call Cleveland, you offer some kind. of pick, get Jerry Judy. And Josh Swed, like that's been going on with him for a. while now. the idea that he could be. dealt and you know if Arizona loses some. games here, maybe they could get an. attractive enough pick that they would. be willing to deal him a big time pass. rusher who had 12 sacks last year. These. are some names. Now again, you watch the.
teams like Tampa. The Bucks haven't won. Okay, so if I'm an opposing GM, I'm. scouring the Buccaneers roster. I'm. saying who's in the last year of their. deal, who's a veteran guy that costs a. lot of money that I would like to add to. my roster. Let's go give Tampa some. draft compensation. You know, it Atlanta. looked different with Michael Penn. They. they looked terrible up until last week. So, let's see if they keep it up tonight. on Monday Night Football. If they can't, maybe you look at the Falcons roster for. some players. But, you're looking at. these teams that have underachieved so.
far that are going to fall out of the. playoff picture here in the next month. that have guys in the last year of their. deal that are paying or making a lot of. money and and those are guys to watch. here over the next month. This is this. is a group of names that make sense, logical. Not saying that any of these. guys will be traded, although I think in. the end by the time the trade deadline. works around, some of them will. >> Who who's calling on Marvin Harrison Jr. >> I was talking to a few teams about it. Pat, >> Colts. Colts are calling. Get him back.
>> Wouldn't that be Wouldn't that make a. lot of sense? >> I did see that. >> Okay, so that's a yes. Anybody else? Who. else? Uh AJ, do you have any teams? >> New England's calling them. >> Kansas City Chiefs. They don't get. Tyreek. These guys calling you. >> Buffalo Bills. >> Oh, the Buffalo Bill Deals. Maybe Joe. Brady gets another weapon. Are they. calling you? Chefy, they calling you, texting you, >> FaceTiming. >> Bruce has been Bruce has been texting. and calling me, namely. >> Bruce Brown. >> Bruce Brown. >> Bruce Brown. >> Bruce Brown. Giants. Giants. >> Bruce Brown. Michigan. >> Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Giants. Also, he play.
Who's Who's Bruce Brown? Who's he play. for now? >> Uh, is he back on the Nuggets? Yeah. >> New York Knicks. Signed a training camp. contract. >> Yeah. >> Yes. >> Okay. I didn't know I didn't know you. had basketball stuff, too. That's crazy. Shifty. Love basketball. Love. basketball. >> Uh we talked earlier that Yic threw last. night. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We saw. >> it's outrageous. And And it does feel. like um people say his off seasonasons. he doesn't care. He just goes and. watches.
>> Holy. Three guys. Three guys just said, "Yeah, right. He's trying that." And. then it just gets over there. Obviously, uh, Joker is a weapon, but I like that. the combo is during the offseason, this. guy doesn't pay attention to basketball. at all. It's like, okay, that's not. real. This guy's got to be working all. the time on everything. How can he be. that big, that athletic, that clean, that confident without just working your. ass off? And uh I think that's a part of. the story that we'll find out later. whenever he's done about his work ethic.
because I don't know how somebody can. just that obliviously confident unless. you work your ass off. That is an absurd. >> I've I've spoken to my sources about him. and he's come into training camp in the. best shape of his career. I know they. love to say that, but apparently he's. lost like over the last however many. months 40 lbs. You look at him, his. weight's down quite a bit. his. conditioning is up and uh he's up and. eligible for a contract extension after. this year and and I think Joic is going. to be a smash smash player this year.
>> He's going to be so good at the Pacers. He went and checked out the Colorado. Buffaloos who uh have an interesting. season happening in front of them. I. like the they played in Colorado. Joker. goes to the game. I believe Tyrese. Hallebertton and the Pacers are playing. at Iowa State. I like this initiative if. this is going to continue with the NBA. uh kind of getting the colleges and. universities involved in that. Now, I we. talked earlier a little bit different. than I think a lot of people thought our. reaction would be as former players. Speaking from a players perspective, we. um personally think that the NHL refs.
are the best cuz they chirp back to the. players. They're like a part of the. game. Connor has a question for you. actually. She. >> obviously a big conversation with the. Trey McBride situation. And then there. was the situation in Minnesota uh Miami. when it came to just interactions with. refs. Veryel got in on sportsmanlike. Is. there going to be some sort of fallout. here or is this just hey come on let the. boys play let the boys ref type. situation? >> I think there's going to be some fallout. here. I mean I don't think that you. could have the officials captured on.
camera the way they were yesterday and. not have there be some sort of. ramifications from that. But beyond. that, I mean, you know that the. officials should never become the story. And as Teddy Brussi was saying this. morning on Get Up, like the officials. have to be. held to a higher standard than the. players because it's their job to kind. of keep everything. in in line and in order and peaceful out. there and not let tensions escalate. So.
when the official is letting the. tensions escalate, that that's not a. good thing. And you've got JC Treader, the executive director of the NFL PA. yesterday calling out the behavior of. the line judge Jeff Seaman there saying. that it's unacceptable and the league. saying it's looking into both those. things. But beyond just those. interactions, honestly, yesterday there. were more penalties called yesterday. than any day in the NFL since week two.
of the 2015 season. Like that's crazy. that and and and and as I said this. morning, um I know the NFL is making a. big push for flag football and there's a. flag football initiative, but I don't. think they meant this with flag. football. >> Nailed it. >> That'll be shifting my. >> uh we all agree. We all agree with what. you're saying. 16 accepted penalties in. the first half of the Jags Bengals. Just. insane stat for one particular game.
That's what No, nobody wants to see. that. Nobody wants to see that. Last. question here comes from Taj Schmidt. about tonight here in the Superdome. >> Yeah, Shifty, we had about 10,000. injuries uh this weekend. Just. absolutely brutal. What does the injury. report uh look like for tonight's Monday. night game? We both these teams have a. fairly clean bill of health. >> Well, the Saints put their running back. Travis Han on IR last week, so he's at a. minimum of four games. So now tonight. they have to turn to Alvin Chimera and. Kendrey Miller. Uh Donaldson in the.
backfield. The Falcons have finally got. their quarterback back. Everybody's. waiting on the Saints wide receiver. Jordan Tyson, the first round pick. He's. been on IR with a hamstring injury. And and he's really coming along and. making great progress. But they're not. going to rush him and they're going to. be patient with him. And my. understanding is it'll still be some. weeks here before we see him again. And. if you look at the schedule, the way it. lays out, they play in Paris in week. seven against, I think, the Pittsburgh. Steelers. They have a buy in week eight.
and then I think it's the Cleveland. Browns off the top of my head in week. nine. So to me, that that's that's where. you're looking at a potential Jordan. Tyson return like week nine maybe after. the buy if they're going to continue to. be as patient as they've been all along. >> How do you uh see tonight going down. here? How do you see the night going. shifty quickly as you have like. >> emotional loud emotional loud like that. you're you're going to be well that's. going to be an electric spot Pat to be. in tonight. Um and the Saints are coming.
off a loss at home against the Raiders. So I I think that they're going to play. a great game in an emotional setting and. they're tough to beat in the dome even. though the Raiders are able to do it. Falcons are coming off their best game. of the year. Different team with Michael. Penn quarterback. I expect them to play. well again as well. Should be a great. game. NFC South battle in clash here for. maybe the next 20 years if these lads. can stay healthy. That's senior NFL. insider Adam Shfter. Michigan. >> tough. That's AJ Hawk. He's live in the.
Thunderdome as his head's getting. chopped off cuz he's so tall. He grew. actually over the last week because of. how much working out and healthy eating. he's doing. Debbuts there. The lads are. there. And we have a second hour with. Dan Orlosski joining us live here at the. Superdome. cannot wait to hear who he's. putting his bandwagon and carrying water. for today. Be a friend, tell a friend. something nice. It might change your. life. See you on the other side. >> We have an opportunity to give away.
$75,000. to giving Daniel Vor. >> Absolutely. >> You're a sophomore, correct? >> Yeah. >> What is your major? >> Civil engineering. >> Okay. So, what's that mean? What is. civil engineering? Uh, well, I don't really know. >> Have you ever kicked a ball before? >> I have. I have. >> Wayne, were you a soccer player? >> Soccer player. Yeah. >> Okay. How were you at kicking soccer. ball? It's pretty good. >> I was okay. I was good. >> Have you ever said anything negative. about football kickers? >> Maybe once or twice. >> DANIEL. DAMN, DANIEL. WE DON'T NEED. THAT. You make a field goal here from 33.
yards uphill. You're the civil engineer. You'd have to tell me. I think it's. about a 40 yard kick. If you're able to. do that, we will give you $75,000. >> All right. He's got no laces. >> Yeah. What do we got going here? Can we. get Can we get a shot of shoes? >> What time get a shot of the shoes? >> Daniel showed up in his vans with no. laces. >> What time did you get here for this? >> About 11:40 last night. >> You need a lot of power. >> Good luck, Daniel. >> I'm not feeling it. Not feeling it.
>> Wait a second. JUST like everything this morning, that. was a surprise. >> We did not expect that. >> Let's go. We got to do one more. >> One more kick. >> For $100,000. >> You got this, dude. >> Let's go. >> How about this, Daniel? How about this,
Daniel? Not only is this one for. $100,000, if you make it, we'll add. another $100,000 to the $500,000. donation we're about to make from. college game day to the hurricane. relief. It could be 600,000 if you make. this with a h 100,000 going into your. pocket. Daniel, this is bigger than you. LET'S MAKE A KICK. >> WAY TO OVERCOME the shoes here. That was. a heck of an effort. >> Come on. You got this. >> in Berkeley, California. >> YOU GOT IT.
YOU BUDDY. >> Hell yeah. >> Great job. >> Damn Daniel. Damn Daniel. >> Are you kidding me?
11:40 he was there. 600,000 to hurricane. Daniel. >> the following program is a collection of. students talking about happenings in the. sports world it is meant to be comedic,

There may be some cuss words. because that's how humans is the real. world talk. If you are a young, please. seek permission before watching any. further. >> Hey, what? >> Let's go. >> This show stinks. And the fact that you. listen, we are very, very thankful for. you.
>> McAfee on the line with a gorgeous. assist. >> The alltime leading tackler for the. Green Bay Packers. You. >> stop. Damn it. >> Your friend, tell a friend something. nice could change their life. sports. >> Hello, beautiful people and welcome back. to the Pat McAfee Show here live on this. overreaction Monday, October 5th, 2026. Hour two of the program begins now.
>> FOOTBALL. >> NAILED IT. Dan Orlovski, good to see. you, pal. obviously ESPN NFL pundit and. quarterback guru joining us as he has. every single overreaction Monday of this. particular season. Cannot wait to see. >> who you're latching that bandwagon to. It's not just us chitchatting about ball. here on this glorious day. Back in the. Thunderdome, you have a man who's a. college football national champion, Super Bowl champion, Ryder Cup winner, AJ Hawk. Hako.
>> Hako, how excited are you for this guy. today just to see what outrageous things. come out of his mouth about because we. know yesterday there was a bunch of. great action, a bunch of one-sore games. So, I I am curious to see how Dan his. feelings on some of these teams compared. to like what the public narrative may. be. >> Yeah, you're right. Yesterday there was. a lot that happened. Eight one score. final outcomes. Nine total one-score. games if you don't count the walk-off. Nine-year NFL vet Darius J. Butler's. back there in the Thunderdome.
>> Ducks, what's your big takeaway coming. out of the football weekend that maybe. Dan will put his Dan wagon behind? Oh, I. I mean trying to think what Dan's gonna. come out with. No clue. I think I have a. good grip on what happened yesterday, but I'm sure I will get it. There's a. notebook there. >> I got a pretty good idea. What do you. think? >> Okay. As long as the note I can't wait. to get smarter. My quarterback does the. work, man. I can't wait for what Dan. blesses her with today. >> You want me to rattle off my big. thoughts? >> Yeah, man. What are your big thoughts? Yeah, let's go. Let's do a 30,000 foot. view. Big Actually, before we do that,
you know who's really excited to hear. it? I could tell. >> Gumpy. Gumpy, what do you what do you. think? Big thoughts. Big thoughts. >> Yeah. >> Bad quarterback play yesterday. I can't. wait to hear. >> Oh, no. >> I some really good quarterbacks. >> That's what I've been saying. >> Yeah. You've been saying that. >> Yeah. >> What are your big thoughts? >> I told you the Raiders are a good team. >> What are your thoughts? >> Raiders are legit. >> Yeah. What is your big thoughts? >> Uh big thoughts of yesterday. The. concerns for Josh Allen. Joe like AJ. said it. AJ said it. But when it's right. here, I feel like I can feel it. Not.
only say it. What day did it happen? Yesterday. >> No, no, no. That's not how you say. >> Why can't I speak the way yesterday? >> I speak terribly, too. >> Yeah, yesterday. I don't know why I say. it like that. I do not know if it's a. northeast thing. It's yesterday. >> It is not a northeast thing, you. jackass. You know what it is. It's a. Boston accent, but you only use it for. one word and it just grinds everybody's. gears. DAN, JUST STOP SAYING IT. >> I'M NOT I'm going to say it the way I. say it. You like you like you telling me.
to stop saying it is going to make me. stop saying I stop saying Okay, let's go. to the toxic table. That's Boston Conor. who's upset about it and Ty Schmidt and. then one half of the hammer. >> Cowboys AP tone. I love it. But as you. were saying it, like I know Connor was. shaking back there in a thunderdome. Uh. but yesterday, some big things that. happened, your overarching viewpoints on. yesterday's NFL Sunday. >> Okay. So, my big thoughts after watching. most of the games, I haven't seen I. think there's three or four. Uh concern. for Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Jaylen Herz, and Bo Knicks in their play right now is.
legit. Um DeForest Buckner and Indie. looks great. Daniel Jones does not. Kairen Williams could be the most. underrated player in the NFL. Um CJ. Stout has no business being 0 and four. Uh Jacksonville and Kansas City are the. two best teams in the AFC. >> Uh Baltimore's right there, I think, as. well as the Las Vegas Raiders. Uh. Minnesota has to find some rhythm on. offense. It'll be the Texans of 2025. >> Okay. So, those are your big takeaways. I appreciate you rattling them off. I.
would like to chitchat about some more. direct things that we if we could dive. in. Sure. >> Daniel Jones stinks at football. What. the hell happened? So, I obviously very. happy about Daniel Jones being our. quarterback. We end up paying him about. a mil hund00 million, okay, to come back. and be our quarterback. There were times. for the New York Giants where I think. Daniel Jones showcased some spectacular. football play. For me, the only times. I've known with Daniel Jones, our. quarterback for the Colts, number one in. the NFL. He was spectacular last year. Breaks his leg, then tears his Achilles,
he comes back on a deal, we bring the. lads back, everybody but Pitman. We miss. Pitman. Obviously, Pierce is hurt right. now. Josh Downs had to do a lot. Hopefully, that'll continue to grow. We. get a win, but he did not look good at. football at all. Is this is this old Dan. Jones or is this just something that. maybe the Commanders were able to do to. him and the last couple weeks haven't. been great? Why is this happening? And. should we expect him to snap out of it. like he did whenever he came to the. Colts originally? >> The biggest issue is the problem is the. old Daniel Jones stuff rearing its head. Daniel has always struggled kind of in.
the pocket with people bodies around him. and the decision-m under pressure. Last. year it was mitigated a ton. He was. actually exceptional in it. And that was. like the probably eye opening experience. of Daniel last year and this season and. certainly yesterday it reared its ugly. head. the decision making, the movement, it felt like he was stuck in cement. often within the pocket and that led to. some really bad decisions and turnovers. Um, and it's a concern right now because. the lack of perimeter players with the.
lack of feel in the pocket and decision-. making that you want in those kind of. tight quarter situations is concerning. >> Okay, so I'll continue to believe that. he's going to be able to snap out of. this and play good bowl. Hopefully, we. get a wide receiver in there. Sheper. basically said Marvin Harrison Jr. the. Colts are looking into to see if he's. available. I assume maybe there's some. other wide receivers. Let's talk about. two wide receivers on the same team that. absolutely went crazy yesterday. Can you. tell me why Dak CD and GP are. unstoppable? >> Okay, so CD goes for 17 and they moved.
him around a little bit like he played. at the number two slot. The game winner. is a beautiful design. They waste they. put Stingley outside. They waste. Stingley outside. He gets to run outside. leverage on Petri. Here's my thing. That's like three or four blown. coverages out of Houston. My biggest. takeaway from the game, two biggest. takeaways, debut, AJ, you probably have. a thought on it, but two biggest. takeaways are one, I think the. simplicity and the beauty of the. simplicity of Houston's defense last. year where they would just line up, rush.
for and kind of play cover four, it's. become unpredict unbelievably. predictable for offenses as well. And I. think offenses are like, "Hey, if we. chip and try to secure protection. against those edge rushers, we know what. coverage we're going to get and we just. attack that coverage all the time." My. second thing is CD is amazing. Dak was. great. 17 catches, they don't put hands. on him at the line of scrimmage one. time. I mean, there's eight clips I have. where it's just the corner like eight or. nine yards off. He's catching the ball. and the corner still six or seven yards.
off. So, I mean, offensively, we would. just call that constant free access. And. so for me, it's like Houston's defensive. plan, philosophy, the way that they. covered CD was just as much of a. question mark as CD just going out there. and just absolutely wearing out press. coverage. I thought it was way too. generous from Houston's defense. >> Okay, so we see CD going crazy alongside. GP, but maybe it's a Houston Texans. issue. They're 0 and4. Obviously, not a. good start. Stats say you're probably.
not going to make it if you start 0. and4. only one team since the merger I. believe has started 0 and4 and then made. it to the playoffs. Good luck to Houston. and congrats to Dallas seemingly. cracking the code on what they can do. offensively. Now cracking the code is. something that they had to do down in. Carolina with a guy who was being. described as the Steph Curry of. football. Debut has a question that one. overall pick got benched. Uh Tai believe. was the first person in this building. called hey that's a good football team. What is it about Bryce Young that's got. him playing so hot right now? right now.
his ownership of the pocket and how fast. his eyes are to windows are as good as. anybody's. You know, we're talking Brock. Perie who's playing MVP, best. quarterback in football right now. For a. guy that is not the big stature guy, his. ability to have the subtlety movement. wise within the pocket and then be able. to pull the trigger at any moment when. that pocket or window the pocket clears. or the window opens up is amazing. T-Mac, and I want to get the name right. T-Mac is outstanding. I think Bryce has.
such a good feel right now for just the. subtlety within the within the uh pocket. debut. And um the the matchups that. they're creating with T-MAC, they're. moving him around. He's in the three. spot. He's in the one spot. >> I I know that Bryce said after the game, the trust he has in him that I mean, there are there is multiple examples of. him just being like, "My guy's better. than your guy." I know you guys talked. about this throw is insane. If any other. quarterback in the league's making this. throw, it's all over social media, all.
over the television. That is third and. 14 with game on the line in many ways. And Nish is like, I'm going to float. this over corner in between safety on. the move while getting bumped. I mean, that throw is as good a throw as you. will see. If Patrick threw it, if Josh. threw it, if Lamar threw it, it would be. all over the place. It is an. unbelievable throw, >> dude. That's an unbelievable throw. Oh. my gosh, dude. Yeah, that's one of those. throws that like uh whenever you were in. film with Stafford, >> you'd be like, "How are you throwing. this one, dude?". >> That's a throw you can make. This is a.
throw I can make. That's special. That's. special. >> And you also talk about his pocket. awareness. They said that he had that. feel cuz he was a little bit undersized. Remember, he had that big backpack that. made us wonder if he was ever going to. survive in the NFL. But his pocket. presence was one of the traits that they. said he had is he has this ability to. feel where he needs to be. He doesn't. take big shots. And on that particular. play, third and 14, two- win game. Feels. it. gets out of the pocket on the move. This is not the third and 14 play, but. it's similar play of him moving in. there. He is a weapon. He really is. And. his arm talent's absurd. >> So, the two things that stand out to me,
too, like when we're talking the pocket. movement, it's not only the pocket. movement. It's move pocket and the the. ability to like then quickly get the. ball out. I think the other thing that's. really interesting about him is his arm. is unquestionably stronger than it was. And we don't see that a lot in the. league where guys come in and somehow. the arm gets stronger. There is no doubt. that Bryce Young's arm has gotten. stronger and he's playing crazy fast. right now and they're pretty good, man. Like they are pretty darn The offensive. line's really good. Like really good.
But I think it's the combination again. It's very San Francisco like of really. good O line quarterback has such a good. feel for timing and when to get the ball. out that you're mitigating some of like. what might be a pass rush win. >> Congrats to Canales and Dam Morgan and. Ter. >> and IDC. Our new offensive coordinator. play call is doing a nice job. Yeah, we. don't love whenever somebody gets hired. because of their play calling abilities. and then just gives it up. >> Same here. >> But it worked. >> Yeah, it's working so far for sure. >> Denver. >> not working, >> man. >> Well, how long we doing this for?
>> Okay, there's a stat about first quarter. points. It's or first quarter yards or. something like that. It's like 3.5 or. something. The lowest obviously that. it's been for Shawn Payeyton. What? How. long are we doing this for, Dano? Yeah, >> because I'll tell you what, I love Davis. Webb. >> I love him. >> Good guy. >> I I've never met him. >> Is he cool name? Yeah, we don't know. >> He's committed a He's committed a ball. for a long time and I appreciate that. he's done that. >> But I like Shawn Payeyton. Call him. football play. I I seen Shawn P. We just. talked about him 62 to7. Saints beat the.
Colts team. I was on down here deep. >> Oh, that's why. >> he didn't play. Curtis Painter, I think, first play. >> I think I did play late in the game. >> Well, thanks for whatever you added on. to that. I'll speak for Drew Brees, Shawn Payeyton, and the New Orleans. Saints. Or did you score a touchdown. late where we shut out? I I don't know. I just remember Greg Williams. Remember. Greg Williams? He we you they were up. 900 to nothing. I went in, he zero. blitzed me four straight snaps. And I'm. like, dude, are you serious right now? >> Just all out pressure. It's like.
>> beat him up. >> Yep. Kill the head guy. >> And also this whole place was buzzing. that entire time. Make it up 49 nothing. It was 000 still in this place. They. were just celebrating everything. Zero. blitz with this place buzzing. pound 50. >> Yeah. >> Thanks for coming. >> It feels. >> Thanks for coming. >> Feels like you kind of Can you tell me a. little bit about Bick's David at Davis. Weapon? How long should we expect Shawn. Peyton, one of the greatest play callers. of our entire sports history, just kind. of continuing to look along from the.
sideline? >> I think great play callers just have a. rare ability to figure out ways to get. quarterbacks in rhythm. I'll say this. about yesterday's game. There are five. clips in the first half, three of them. big plays where I'm sitting there. saying, "Bo, throw the ball that are. they're open. The design gets them open. They're big plays down the field and he. just does not throw the football." And I. don't know the why between how come the. play design and play call is there early. on in the game and the the route and.
design wins and Boon Knicks just doesn't. throw the football. And that's what I'm. talking about like with the hey, why. aren't why aren't we like getting this. quarterback in rhythm early on. There's. a disconnect right now early on in games. with why we're calling to play, where. our eyes should be, why we're getting. into it in that moment. And I think. that's the biggest issue right now to. start the game. We know Bick's crazy. talented, very athletic, clutch in. games, but I can't put yesterday all on. Davis Web. Yesterday is way more Bo.
Knicks and not for some reason not. pulling the trigger on routes that are. there. >> What day? >> That's today. >> Sunday. >> I'm going to start thinking of it. Yeah. Sunday. >> No, I there's a lot of words I say a. lot. >> Just go with it. >> I think you think I care. I'm This is. how I say the word, dude. >> No, I'm not saying. >> Welcome to the jungle, dude. >> Yeah, dude. We respect that everything. about it. But it's since we brought it. up early, which was kind of my fault, you know, cuz I was thinking about. Connor thinking about it the entire.
time. I just I've heard a lot because we. are having you on Monday and a lot. happens. >> yesterday. >> Yes, it does. And that's what we have. here on now on the other side of the. field there instead of Bo Nicks. Brock. Pery. >> Yeah. >> So, are they unstoppable? What? So, how. should we be viewing what they're ahead? You know what's the craziest thing about. San Francisco to me right now outside of. Brock playing unbelievable? Debo looks like he did five years ago. KD looks like he did five years ago. I. mean, the way that they're using Debo is.
insane. They're handing it off to him. They're throwing it to him out of the. back field. They're running RPOS's. They're running reverses to him. KD. scores on the late screen and he runs. away from everybody. It's wild the users. look just from a youth perspective. They're playing against a really good. Denver defense. They were stymied early. on because they didn't run it great. Um. Kyle got to some runs that were really. good, but just the the way that those.
two marquee veterans look right now is. fascinating. >> Who's number 75 for the Niners? Their. offensive lineman. Do you see him? He's. almost catching Huanga legend. >> right there. They got speed across the. board and. >> Connor Kby is his name. That was. >> Is that the fastest offensive lineman? Debo looks crazy fast on tape right now. Crazy fast. >> Okay, Debo looks fast. George KD. obviously coming off an Achilles. That. guy's 65 309. Look at number 75, right? Can we go back a little bit here just. Bruce to watch that again? Why is he.
running that f? Do we know if. >> is that even allowed for a guy who's 65. 30h. >> dude? He's pumping. >> Yes, he is. >> Yeah. >> Hey, good for you, dude. I'm happy you. got to showcase that. And KD obviously. looks incredibly fast and healthy. The. Niners might be the team. You know, they. might be that good. You know, another. undefeated team, >> the Minnesota Vikings. Diggs has a. question about what the hell's going on. over there. >> Yeah, Dan. They are 4 and 0 with six.
touchdowns. Uh they're they're they set. a record for a 4-0 team since the 1932. Cardinals, I believe, or 23, one of. those situations. Brian Flores and the. defense have been unbelievable. The. offense has been absolute shight. Is. that a now obviously was Kyler Murray. missed some time with the concussion. Um. is that is that a him thing? Is it a KOC. thing? What's going on with the Vikings. offense which you know is probably not. sustainable for being undefeated? >> There feels a disconnect Minnesota. offensively with who they want to be,
who they are, and who they can be. >> I think they've always been this zonun. offense. I do not think they're a good. zon team. I think a lot of their better. runs are what we would call gap where. you're pulling people or maybe double. teaming rather than the zone. Everything. is built off of their zone. Not. everything. A lot of the stuff that they. do in their play action game is built. off of their zone stuff. And so their. playaction game is hurt a little bit.
from the lack of their ability to run. their zone offense. I think there is a. significant lack of rhythm in their. passing game. that is a little bit. attributed to trying to figure out. exactly what Kyler's good in. Kyler. trying to get a little bit more. accustomed to what they want to do. Um. time away and running this offense. How. much can they be in gun? How much can. they be underneath the center? And so. right now I just feel like it feels like. they're searching and there there. certainly is a disconnect. Now, I. thought Kyler made some nice throws.
yesterday, but there's still um it still. doesn't look like the married up offense. that was, you know, the early years of a. Kirk Cousins and certainly a Sam Darnold. where everything was kind of matched. together. It seems like they're having. some success with plays rather than a. system. >> Oh, we could start talking about a. system having success. testament matters. who's playing quarterback or whatever. position whenever we go to the Chicago. Bears. We thought the same for KC. We. thought KC you could put anybody in.
there and they're going to do great. Obviously, we have not seen that over. the last couple. Minnesota Vikings, Will. Riker, though, he's got their back. Quick stat from Jason Harmon. Total. points this uh season. Vikings offense. 36. Will Riker 42 the game himself. They're going to be the Texans of last. year where like you you've got this. historically great defense and you're. like if you can just get good. quarterback play, you can beat anybody. and then all of a sudden that the. defense is dominant but the offense. isn't good enough when it matters the.
most. And that's the danger for. Minnesota right now because the defense. is sensational, but the offense is not. going to beat teams when it matters the. most. >> Shout out to Will Riker getting 15 by. himself, winning the game. I think. Venitary had one of those in the. playoffs against Baltimore way back in. the day. Very rare do you see the kicker. just taking the entire dub and scoring. all the points. Congrats to him. Might. see him tonight spotlighted on Monday. night countdown. Now let's go to who we. were talking about with like system and. plays and everything like that. Can you. tell me a little bit about Chicago and.
why Ben Johnson's awesome? And he has. two starting quarterbacks yesterday, even though only one quarterback. position is available yesterday and he's. petty and he's seemingly a an actual. madman, a mastermind, a brilliant coach. who can win with maybe Gumpy at. quarterback if he had to. Not saying. that Begent is not a great quarterback. >> Small hands. >> We tiny little. >> Gumpy does. You see his pose? >> No, he doesn't. Did you not see me. [ __ ] with the football in my hand. right there? >> Go hand on him. Let's see who's are.
bigger. >> Buddy buddy, brother, >> you see that meatball? He don't just put. up to the camera. >> Chuck it deep. Chuck it deep. >> I'm not playing this. >> Hold on. Hold on. You got to get down. lower. You got to get down lower, Dan. Put your hand down lower. >> No, I'm not doing this. >> Oh, no. >> You got it. You got to go. >> Are you naughty as pupp? >> Yeah, he backed up. I didn't flinch. >> Yeah, you did. >> No. And you're flying, man. >> Shut up,
>> Gumpy. Good play, Gumpy. Hell yeah, Gumpy. Way to punk him right there. >> Didn't flinch. >> Way to punk Dano right there, dude. That. was sweet. >> Want to measure hands. >> Okay. Uh, this isn't a hand measuring. contest, Dano. Okay, we're talking ball. real quick. >> Okay, >> ball talk though. Ben Johnson, not I. love Tyson Page and West Virginia kid. He's really good at football. Proved to. be an NFL quarterback yesterday, I. believe. Especially in Ben Johnson's. system. Case Keenum first time playing. in over a thousand days goes crazy. Caleb Williams doesn't even really do.
anything near what they did in that. offensive wins game. Is Ben Johnson. capable of winning with anybody? And is. that a fair question to ask? >> Yes, they have the best offensive line. in football. And so you talk about the. ability to control the game. That's all. Chicago does. Methodically control. basically every game that they play in. The second thing is they get four downs. to play with more often than not. second. and eight is like first and 10 for him. Uh third and six is like second and. seven. So like the the way that he has. the a much bigger playbook because he.
knows, okay, fourth and one, fourth and. two, we're going to go for it. We'll. convert a ton of it like he did in. Detroit when Detroit had the dominant. offensive line in 20 like 23 24. It was. always having those four downs cuz you. just knew the offensive line would give. every single play a chance to have. success. So that's what's happening in. Chicago. Again, I think the second big. takeaway that is really starting to show. itself that is outstanding for Chicago. is the young perimeter players are. really starting to play well on the ball.
down the field. Manongi is really good, really good second back, but Romo Dun. and Luther Burton both making plays in. the pass game down the field, whether. they're inbreaking routes, contested. outbreakers, some of the chunk throws. I. think that's the biggest takeaway since. Caleb went down is the th those two. receivers really starting to kind of put. their fingerprint on this offense. >> He could win with Gumpy a quarterback if. he had to.
>> I think Gumpy would get He looks like a. playmaker. >> Thank you, D. >> I'm happy you guys came back around. >> You're a good guy, dude. >> He was mad at me for sure. >> You are a good guy, Dan. I think you'd. put the Dan Wagon right behind Gumpy if. he got a couple wins. >> I believe it. He seems like a guy that. figured it out. It makes sense why Ben. Johnson was wanted by everybody though. >> Oh, for sure. I mean, schematically, he. the way that he um ties things together. Um attacks, leverages, um creates easy. windows. I don't want to say easy.
windows, but viable windows for. quarterbacks. Yeah, he's in and rhythm. Like I remember last week the Philly. Chicago game. How is he going to start. the game? Case Keum hasn't started in. over a thousand days. Ron R. Nope. He's. going to get the ball out of his hands. He's going to get him completions all a. sudden to quarterbacks in rhythm. Game's. over. >> Yeah, he Yeah, he's petty to both. quarterbacks. >> Giant ego and the best way. >> Giant ego. No, no. Petty, petty, petty. >> I think he's got a giant ego in the best. way. I think all great play.
>> um I think that when he when they walk. out on the field, those certain coaches. um Kyle Shanahan is like that. I think. McVey is like that, Shawn Payeyton like. that. They just have such a self-belief. of their process of studying during the. week, how they want to attack that. coverage, who they want to attack on. that defense, the way that they see the. game operating. They don't think that. there's anything that that defensive. coordinator can do to them that they're. not ready for and the way that they he.
wants to attack. I I just think that. he's got such a good vision and. understanding for that. >> I love watching his teams. Another team. that might uh not have the fanfare as. the Chicago Bears, but certainly should. He's down there in Duvall. AJ has a. question for you about offensive play in. Jacksonville. >> Dano, is uh is this sustainable for. Trevor Lawrence in this uh Jacksonville. Jaguars team? I mean, Trevor's playing. at a very high level. Seems to be very. consistent. Like, what do you think of. the Jags chance to to actually make a. run? >> I think the Jags are as good as anybody.
in the AFC. >> Whoa. >> I think Kansas City is right there. I. think those are the two best teams in. the AFC. Is it sustainable? Yes. Quarterback has insane timing right now. Insane. He is cutting the ball so loose. to everybody. Parker Washington, Brian. Thomas Jr., this throw. If you guys have. the back angle and you can freeze it, Bruce somehow when he throws that back, it's the guy's five yards from turning. around. >> Um, I think he pairs plays so well week.
to week to week. You know, AJ, you you. guys as defenses, you study game plans. from the previous week and or weeks or. tendencies from an offense. He's got. such tendency breakers. He knows, okay, I presented this formation like they. have a keeper in the third quarter where. they ran the same exact formation, the. same exact look against New England last. week and they toss it. This time they. come out, fake, toss it, the receiver. runs out the backside and it's a 50 yard. gain on a 5-yard throw. So, he pairs.
things so well. They're really talented. Um, from the perimeter perspective, I. think they could run the football no. matter the personnel that they have on. the field. Sometimes it's two tight. ends, sometime it's one tight end. They're legit. I will say this, AJ, and. you can speak to it better. >> I think the best and most underspoke. unit in football right now is. Jacksonville. Like, my notes for. Jacksonville's defense, excuse me. >> Okay. >> They give you nothing. You can't fool. them on offense. They're so sound. It's.
almost like they know the play that. you're trying to run and they tackle. incredibly well. Incredibly well. And I. just think those are things from a. defensive perspective that are so. reliable. >> Can you move to the side so I don't have. to see that? This is his notebook. though, just so we can kind of see this. stuff. >> He has a thousand pages. Do you see. whenever we brought up the Jacksonville. Jaguars how excited he was? He flipped. through 14 different pages. When are you. taking these notes? Are the Jacksonville.
Jaguars eating up the most paper right. now? >> 318, four, fourth quarter, 412. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. >> I don't know. I start watching at like. 5:00 on Sundays and I just watch and. send videos and notes and probably go. till like. >> Oh, no. >> shut the whole the whole thing down. >> A little bit of a spotlight. I think uh. in this entire conversation about ball. and how we've started because to Liam. Cohen's point, nobody has talked about. the Jacksonville Jaguars. I think Trevor.
Lawrence had his best year last year. with Liam Cohen. Nobody talked about the. Jacksonville Jaguars. He's only getting. better with Liam Cohen. Nobody's talked. about the Jacksonville Jaguars. And then. Travis Hunter, did you see him shake the. absolute uh [ __ ] out of T. Higgins as he. was going backwards? They got a complete. team down there. >> Yeah, they're awesome. They're I. complete teams. a good, you know, we get. caught up in the offense cuz Trevor and. the skill position group and and and. Trevor is I think there's three, four. quarterbacks that are playing just at a. different level through the first month. in the NFL more than anybody else in the.
league. He is one of those three or. four. But I'm telling you, the defense. is just as impressive, man. It's just as. good. And um it's a well coached. football team. >> Yeah. Good for the Jacksonville Jaguars. finally having a thing. >> Three or four tackles like that. yesterday where like. >> it's it's a yard short of conversion and. the tackle is everything. >> Liam Cohen and Trevor Lawrence obviously. a great fit together. It is evident. every time they step on the field they. get better and better and better. There's some quarterback coaches. tandemss that aren't good. Debut has a.
question for you. >> Yeah, two of them that you were uh. talking about got kind of loud a couple. weeks ago. Justin Herbert out in LA with. Mike McDaniel and then Jaylen Herz with. Shawn Manion. just uh not looking good. for either one of those guys right now. What are your takeaways or whatever. notes you've taken on these guys and. what specifically are they struggling. with? >> I'll start with Herbert. Everything's a. mess. Um but I can't take the. interceptions off of Justin Herbert. The. decision-m those two interceptions he. throws. >> me ball ups.
>> he's throwing if if one guy doesn't get. it, two or three other guys are going to. get it. And that's a relatively simple. concept to be reading. It's not an. exagger ex exuberant um coverage or a. confusing coverage and I I just it's the. decision-m was indefensible. Uh but. again, there's multiple plays on their. offense where I go, "What are we doing? I have no idea what the point of this. play is. What are we doing? This is just. bad offense. How is he getting hit on a. three-step drop before he hits his back. foot?" So, I will reiterate, it's a very.
broken offense and everybody has their. hand in it, but Herbert and the. decision-m for a guy that has been a. good decision maker, um, is probably as. big of an issue as anything. I'd say. this about Philly. Um, so Philly right now, uh, Jaylen does not look comfortable. consistently operating the pass. concepts. There are three or four times. where you sit there and say, "I know why.
this concept looks this way. The throw. is there. Throw it." Um, they're in. third, 0 and 12 on third down. One, they're awful in short yardage right now. offensively. Awful. Awful. Two, they're. only in third and 10 plus, like I think. three of those times. Not expected to. convert those. Three, three, third and. four like five or six times. No one gets. open. They miss a block. Um they the. ball they're a yard short on the depth. of the route and uh this is an offense.
right now that just lacks consistency. Um and kind of figure out who do they. are. Uh no Devonte, no Seaquan, no Lane. Like that's an issue. Uh Seaquan, I said. that weird. Um that's an issue. >> No, you didn't. You don't say anything. weird. >> That's an issue. But uh right now this. this it's an offense that doesn't have a. true I can go to these type of plays. don't like Saquon not returning. There. was some chatter by Brandon Graham about. potential Lane Johnson stuff. I I don't.
know. >> That was late. Was that? >> Yeah. >> I don't know. There's some It gets. really dark in Philly. >> Dude, that that play that play that play. that that play right there. There's two. things that if you Bruce, go back to. that third down, okay? Cuz there's two. things that stand out about the play. one Cam Jurgens pulls who's the left. guard so fast and I don't know how or. why that he almost knocks the ball out. of Herz getting the snap like he Herz. almost cuz it's a touchdown if Herz gets.
the snap. >> clean back you you. >> so watch pause it like one more clip. Bruce. >> okay so look at Jurgens he's already. pulling he almost takes the ball from. Jaylen and if Jaylen doesn't bobble that. fumble there's a downhill there's a seam. right there though that's like look how. quickly Jurgens pulls and almost takes. the hand off. That's why the fumble. happens. You hear us quarterbacks often. say like when you're the quarterback you. got to belly the ball off the snap. Okay, that's a big thing. The second. thing, debut, you'll know it better than.
me. Bruce, go to back to the third down. one. Watch McDuffy. Um when Jaylen starts to scramble, he. does an remarkable job of just keeping. leverage to force Jaylen back inside. We. see defensive backs all the time try to. dip underneath a block and somebody gets. outside of him. All he does is just stay. square, stay square, stay square at the. bottom of the screen and I think it's. awesome play by McDuff. >> We're back. We're back. >> Watch the bottom of the screen. Look at. >> just. >> dude that's so good by him in my. opinion. So good by him.
>> We We always talk about no edge, no. chance as a defense and and that was a. big time player by big time play by a. big time player. >> Yeah, good edge there. Obviously a trade. for him. Shawn McVey rallies up the. entire team. Did you see that? >> Yeah. >> How'd you feel about it? I liked it. especially because of how they. responded. But I like that Shawn McVey. rallied the lads on the sideline and. they respond and they get a huge win in. Philadelphia. Obviously a lot of convo. about Philadelphia being uh in the dumps. and everybody mad. Shawn McVey still has. his fastball. That's what I saw from the. Rams yesterday. >> Yeah, McVey when everyone, you know,
they acquire all the talent and oh, this. team's going to go undefeated and Super. Bowl favorites. This was the reason why. I truly felt that way because I just. I've been around Shawn. I know the. leader that he is. I know in the moment. the way that he can handle things. They're not playing well. Matthew. Stafford's not playing well. Um they can. get nothing going their way it feels. like. And all a sudden they just hang. and hang and hang and then one run leads. to a completion leads to Puka catching. five straight balls in the fourth. quarter and then Kairen Williams just.
finishing it off. And I think just the. perspective of not getting too high, not. getting too low, not trying to panic, not trying to go chase 10 points in one. play was enormous. I'm not saying season. saving win, but fudge. It feels like. that, man. >> Fudge, man. >> Sitting one and three with Buffalo. >> Dude, that this run is so good, man. It's so good by Kairen. >> The blocking on the perimeter to not. hold. Watch the two guys, the tight end. and Puka. Not Not the clip by there, right there by Puka. And then if you see.
there's a Philly defender that comes in. and punches at Kairen and he does that. Kenneth Walker almost like. double cross. Right. Right. >> Unbelievable. >> He and also he took one of the biggest. hits we've ever seen in a football game. >> Whoa. That was. >> He was running down. I'll tell you they. say you leave your feet bad things can. happen. They certainly did a couple. different times. >> You think it was a good call? >> What's that? >> That late hit. Um, I think you the. helmet is certainly hitting him square.
in the chest as he's out of bounds. Pretty good. >> Uh, but it's Are you talking about. >> like the one on like third down when he. like jumps and Cooper De like. >> Yeah. >> I think Jones was the guy who hit him. out of bounds. >> Yeah. The helmet through the chest. >> Yeah. >> They they threw flag on that. >> Yeah, that was an automatic first down. That was a huge penalty. >> Yeah. And I think the reason why is cuz. he was in paint when he hits him. >> Yeah. this one. >> He He. >> But if he's jumping, that can't be on. the defender. He's jumping and got. >> farther.
>> Farther out than Jaylen last week. >> Wait. >> Well, I think that's why Dano said, "Do. you like the call or not?". >> Yeah, cuz I think Kairen jumps from. inbounds and guy starts lunging. inbounds, but then body gets contorted, >> hits a different time. These refs, how. do you feel about them? What did you. think of the Trey McBride thing? Cuz. Sheffy came on and told us before we get. to tonight, which Conor wants to ask you. about. Shifty came on and said, you. know, he he kind of made me soften my. stance a little bit because I like the. way the NHL refs I like the way the NHL.
refs and the NHL players talk to each. other. They chirp each other. Hey, I had. to get you for one, pal. Hey, keep it. moving. You know, like to hell with you. Hey, Stallsy, you're a bump. Like, they. actually have that type of interaction, that type of relationship. They're all. ex players clearly in the hockey world. They understand it. In this particular. case, I didn't mind the ref going back. at Trey. We don't know what Trey said to. him. Yeah. But refs and coaches say this. to refs all the time or say these types. of things all the time. So when Vable. gets a penalty for it and. >> what did he get a penalty for? >> Uh well he was getting boxed out by a uh.
like a sticks guy. Yep. >> So that that could have been a part of. it which I think is a local guy. So that. was a New Englander that was boxing out. Vel and then he was reaching around. He. dropped two fbombs on him while telling. him it was a blanking terrible blanking. call. And then he gets a a flag for. that. And then that guy says that to. Trey McBride. I don't like that. I wish. it was all acceptable to say to each. other. Shfer said though, refs are. representing the sport and the league. So their actions are obviously different. than how the players are supposed to be.
Where do you kind of land on this? JC. Tredder did what he had to do for the. NFL PA saying, "Hey," they saying, "Now. this is going to be refs talking to us. like this." Which I respect he has to. take that stance. But I don't mind the. refs and players having a better. relationship than what we currently. have. >> Yeah. I mean, obviously there's a level. of respect that has to go two ways. both. player to official, player to coach, coach official, all that stuff. Highly. emotional game. I don't know what was. said by either party uh in regards to. it. I agree with Chefy's point like. they're rep they're representing the. league.
>> and the sport, but so are the players, right? So, and so were the coaches. >> This one's pretty awesome here. >> He didn't mean to hit him clearly. Hey, welcome to football. You know, this type. of this type of thing. And his reaction. though, I I mean, that's a big bump. That's a big. >> Yeah, but I don't think the guy from. Minnesota does anything wrong. >> there. Saying that's what we're saying. to the ref. >> But he didn't get a penalty there, did. he? Or something. >> No, I don't. But I think the ref. certainly had A MOMENT. I DON'T LIKE. WHAT you know, one of those things. >> Hey, refs, you're we still appreciate.
you. You don't need to throw thousand. flags or get in anybody's face. My big. complaint with the refs right now is. we're throwing way too many flags on. third downs that are like swinging the. flow of a game or big moments, taking. points off the board, putting points on. the board. The Philly Rams game, they. throw PI on McDuffy at the end of the. first half when he's getting attacked. >> by the release receivers taking the back. of his helmet and they throw it on. McDuffy and it's like all a sudden. Philly gets points off it. So, um, way.
too much of that. I guess the Colts got. one pretty good on Commanders yesterday, too. Yeah. Had a lot of Commanders fans. saying, "Hey, pal, come here talking. about this cheating." It's like, well, it's nice to be on the right side of it, but it feels like with the way they're. refing right now, there's going to be a. lot of options for that. Hopefully. tonight, we have a perfectly officiated. game. Conman has a question for you. about who we'll see and how we'll see. him. >> Yeah, hoping for that doubt in that. though. Dan, what are you expecting. tonight with uh the Shuck Man and Penn. going up against each other? We just saw. Pennix in the Falcons offense look. unbelievable against the Packers. Are.
you expecting that tonight? And then. what should we kind of look for in New. Orleans? A lot of Olive. What's kind of. the game? What are you seeing and. looking for? >> Yeah, so the Penn and Atlanta offense. one, can you stop their outside zone run. game? If you can't, they're going to. have their way with you. Uh, you got to. stop Bejon. I think the way that he. threw the ball specifically to Drake. London was very impressive and the. confidence that he had with Drake London. in those one-on-one situations. Does. Atlanta uh without Terrell kind of.
single him up in coverage a lot of. times? Um, excuse me, New Orleans. Uh, do they single him up in coverage a lot. of times? Um, and so like it's really. about can you stop the outside zone for. against Atlanta's offense? If you don't, it opens up everything. I think for New. Orleans, two things. It's not just. Olive. Olve is great. Vele, their number. two receiver, outstanding as well. And. then Johnson, the tight end. So, it's a. three-headed monster in their pass game. that you got to pay attention to.
Atlanta's pass rush was so good against. Green Bay. And that's one of the things. because they don't have Walker and they. don't have Pierce. It's a little bit of. well, how good is it? Or at least that. was the thought. They're still dialing. it up and the pass rush has been really. good. New Orleans has played from such a. deficit this year. I just think that's a. slippery slope. If you get if you fall. behind too much against Atlanta with the. way that can dial up their pressures, it's a dangerous world. And so I think. it's whatever defense gets to play to.
their type of identity goes a long way. tonight. >> How do you feel the crowd is going to. be? Have you you played in here when we. lost 62 to7? Had were you a starter in. here ever? >> Um. I don't think I've ever started a game. here. I started in Detroit against them. It feels like an equalizer. >> This place is amazing. >> Yeah, actually they're one and a half. point favorites. And if you look at what. happened last week, that would make no. sense. But I do think it's because of. the spirit of this place. >> Yeah. >> And what it's going to be. >> and it's 20 years since it reopened and.
Gleon and the blocked punt and. everything that. >> Yeah. Steve Gleason's releasing an. album, I believe, today as well. Think. about that. Just his brain being full. I. I think the first song that I saw that. they released, uh, the title of the song. is called The Soul Is Invincible. >> Really? >> Yeah. That has to be pretty powerful. entire therapeutic for Steve. I think. they're celebrating him pretty big today. as they should as they celebrate this. city and this building as a whole. I'm. uh I'm pumped to be down there. Excited. to be down there. Can't wait to see how. the game goes. >> Cool to be a part of for sure.
>> Absolutely. Dano, >> thanks buddy. >> Really good stuff. >> Great to see you. Thanks, >> baby. Donald, Donald, >> hey, I I think you should walk out of. here head held high. >> Yep. Agreed. >> Always do. >> Right back jump. Good job, Don. Right. back. >> And also, yeah, it's a good call. Let's. get a uh let's get a good high five with. Gumps over there. >> Yeah, we got high five and makeup. >> Wow. Firm hand that thing just swallows. and golf in his hand.
>> Yeah, Gumpy. Way to go. You just. >> You really nailed it today, Dan. >> Hey, you just outed him. >> Thanks for stopping by. >> You just outed him pretty good, Gumps. You should feel pretty good about what. you did to that guy. >> Got him twice today already. Dano, >> you gave him the this earlier. >> Flying, dude. fell off the rail here. >> Boom. Okay. A lot of NFL talk. Haven't. talked enough college. Congratulations. Ohio State getting a big time win out. there. I will. AJ, that one felt, you know, and that's. the first time this year I've picked. against a home crowd because I do think. in college football having homefield.
advantage in a marquee matchup matters. Like I do think it absolutely matters. And Iowa and Kinnick certainly has been. a place that has made differences and. impacts in games since it has been. around. You talked about it. Others have. talked about it. It is a special place. I was thankful that I got to experience. it all, including the children's. hospital across the street. So, I uh I. loved what we got to experience in Iowa. for 48 hours. I appreciate everything. that the Iowa people are and the. Hawkeyes fans are getting a chance to.
experience a season alongside Tai for. the last seven, eight years alongside. the Hawkeyes has been fun. I mean, fun. It's been enlightening experiencing it. It is. And I sent a tape. I just. remembered this whenever I was out. there. I sent a tape in high school to. Iowa. I I liked the Hawkeyes. I think. when I was in high school, I didn't get. to ask Kirk if he ever watched it. Uh I. I I don't think he did, but I love it. Just felt like there was no way Ohio. State was going to lose two games in the. first five weeks. A like if there wasn't. game day there, if they hadn't already.
lost, I think it is a place that can. certainly beat you. And I think this. Iowa team is talented enough to do that. Just felt like Ohio State had too many. wakeup calls already. Is that how you. were seeing it going in? why you thought. it was maybe 42 to7 was your prediction. on Friday for this Ohio State Iowa game. >> Yeah, I felt pretty confident in what. Ohio State was able to do. But you. honestly like you never know going into. Kick, it's it is a very very difficult. place to play. So I think this Iowa is a. very good team. They're going to be fine. the rest of the season, but I think for. Ohio State, this is a big like stepping. stone. People may not give them credit. for being a huge win, but this was a.
huge win for Ohio State, I think. And I. I like how it was they were pretty much. in control the whole time. I mean, obviously, like we talked about before. the game, Jeremiah Smith, he's an. absolute alien. And. >> what do you do to cover him? I don't. know. I am not sure what you are. supposed to do defensively to try to. stop this guy, but I am glad he is on. Ohio State. >> Debbut, he's inevitable. And Julian Sain. knows that. And then on defensive side, they're only getting better and better. after losing what, four, five NFL guys. I forget what it was. Ohio State looked. like Ohio State this weekend. debug.
>> I mean, it looked like a welloiled. machine, but like everyone is Jeremiah. Smith like he is just unbelievable. You. can and there was certain times where I. can tell, you know, going into it, the. Hawkeyes felt great about the coverage. You got two or three guys on in position. and this this mutant just makes an. unbelievable play. But going back to. something you said earlier, I know this. game was was huge. What was it what was. that visit like in the children's. hospital? I spent some time in the. children's hospital. Nick, you I had a a. newborn that went through heart surgery. He spent like a month in there and just. the things that you see in there is.
unbelievable. What was that experience. like for you? >> Yeah. And you know, Deb, it was um. it was emotional. I I did not expect it. to be as empowering and emotional as it. was with the Colts. And I assume every. NFL team is like this. Have a lot of. really good opportunities to get out. into the community and try your best to. make your society a better. Uh, I I took. up Tuesdays on a very regular basis to. go visit and see. I had been to Riley's.
Children's Hospital and Payton Manning's. Children Hospital. And my entire like. give back world started in Morgantown in. West Virginia when Bill Stewart forced. me to go to the children's hospital. across the street from the stadium and. say, "Hey, go see what life actually. is." So, it had been a a while, you. know, and my baby boy was just born four. weeks early. Not crazy, but still had to. spend some time in the NICU. So watching. the NICU nurses and the doctors and. everything take care of my baby boy was. certainly something that made me a bit. emotional and maybe has changed me a bit.
and how I view everything alongside my. daughter as I here was named as the. kickoff captain and gets to pick the. song and then her taking the mic from. Jen and saying hey this is mine. It's. just it's very um. perspective putting about what life is, what it can be, what it should be. And I. thought Stanford Steve did such a great. job on the SVP pod talking about there's. Everett right there in the yellow. And. then Hugh in the red. And then there's. Harlo. She was a kickoff kid. She. actually had a card. She signed for us.
There's Atlas. Uh he's most of the he's. from Illinois, I believe. Most of these. kids are from from Iowa. There's Jace. right there. Got a chance to meet him. There's the crew. Uh there was also um. Nicole and uh Steel who was 18 months. old. He was born at 22 weeks. 22 weeks. He was born 40 weeks his full term. And. he was born at 22 weeks. So now he's 18. months old because of the work that. they're doing at that hospital. And you. know I think it's all started with like.
a simple question of like can we go. visit that children's hospital because. it was obviously going to be a part of. the storyline. And they were so. welcoming. We were so thankful to be. there and uh yeah, we all cried, man. I. I I was crying my eyes out on Saturday. and the work that they're doing is uh. really really cool. That wave, you know, getting a chance and Stanford Steve. summed it up very well about the level. 12 floor 12 where the people that don't. or the patients that don't have a window. on the Kinnick Stadium side, they all go.
up there for the game in the wave and. when you're looking at it, it's like the. am and Jordan is uh one of the lads that. was in there. His brother Aiden was in. there. It's like just them experiencing. the game through that moment and then. everybody at the game acknowledging. them. I think it's just like such a. morale boost, a confidence boost for all. parties. So, it's special what they're. doing. Caitlyn Clark was awesome uh with. everybody that I saw her interact with. her heading to the hospital. Special. It. was just special. It was very emotional. D but and I would like to say this. Um.
we had uh we had Finley uh the kicker. She won the raffle, one of the first 300. people, and she opted to kick. Uh the. rules this year are and we've given away. 4 million I think already this year cuz. we were seeing like kids just pick other. kids. It was if you're not physically. able to kick, you can pick, but it has. to be within a minute. She said, "I can. kick. I'm going to do it." She does it. And I offer up money for uh the hospital. and for her if she ends up winning. And. it at first I said a million dollar.
donation and then she doesn't kick. She. doesn't make it. and then she missing. and Dallas Clark does it for 150,000 and. a lot of people are like coming after me. a little bit for not doing the donation. and I think those people were pretty. right. It didn't feel right after uh I. was kind of thinking about it. We'll. donate a million to that children's. hospital. I would like to be uh a part. of a help for them and we have also uh I. think we're going to be doing some work. together in the future here. So it was. 150,000 cuz Dallas Clark was able to.
throw it after the million was kind of. rescended after a miskick. So I would. just like to let everybody know I will. be donating we will be donating a. million dollars to that hospital. We. would like to thank that hospital for. their hospitality and for what they do. And they need to know how much they. empower and help everybody else uh that. comes in contact with them and uh keep. kicking ass, which was really the only. messaging that I kept saying to. everybody as I was losing in tic-tac-toe. and cornhole and coloring and uh finger. football they were playing out there. It. is uh it was cool to get in there, Dut.
And thank you for asking. I um that's. something that we should all do more. often and that's all I can think of the. entire time. You know what I mean, DBud? >> Hell yeah. We'll see. >> Yeah, it it was special and uh those. kids are awesome and I can't wait to see. him again. I'll see them soon. We'll. continue big day with Big Shs on the. other side. Goodbye. >> Jeez. >> Hell yeah. >> Almost got emotional. I was crying my. eyes out on the set like whenever they. ran the video. >> Yeah. >> Uh during game day and I think it's cuz.
of my kids. Deba, you just talked about. a month in there. I I think that's. actual, right? I think it's cuz. >> I I I think I would have cried anyways. in the past about very, >> you know, sentimental cool things, but. nowadays I'm I'm water works, especially. when it comes to kids, man. That that. was that was a powerful trip over there. to Iowa, D. >> Yeah, that that it happened um that not. to me, but to my family, to my daughter. Uh I think it was my third year in the. league. That was the first time at least. as like a beyond adolescence where like.
football or sports wasn't the most. important thing. And then you just. realize a lot of us have kids in here so. you realize like oh this can be you and. you just wish you could just. >> change and jump in their body and take. you know whatever they're going through. So um yeah man it was it's incredible. >> Yeah it was uh it was powerful stuff. Very very grateful for the opportunity. to go over there. Shout out to Ryan Day. too. He wrote, I guess, letter to. everybody that was out there. >> had he knows. Everybody does. AJ, that's. why it's like one of the greatest. traditions in all of sport, let alone.
just college football. All of sport that. happening because I think everybody's on. the same page there where it's like, hey, we'd like to give you a couple. moments of hell yeah because we know. what you've been going through is not. fair at all. Obviously patience, but. also families, AJ, you know, get a. chance to talk to the parents. That's a. change of life just like this. Everything dropped changes. Oh yeah. Now. for this entire situation. So it was. crazy over there. By crazy I mean like a. a whirlwind of an experience and. emotions. >> What? Yeah. It affects everyone in the. family too. That's the thing. It's not.
just obviously the person going through. it. But there's they usually have. brothers and sisters and family members. and yeah it's it's a a wild situation. It's awesome that that much publicity. gets to it. Like the kids like that's. the thing you think about like kids. that's unbelievable for them. the whole. wave thing. Like, yeah, it's awesome. Adults get to get to do it and feel like. they're doing something, but I think for. the kids and the families, like it's. truly special every single time they get. to do it. They love being a part of it. >> They got a new NICU opening in 3 weeks, state-of-the-art whole floor. It's like.
I I said it about Steel, the one kid I. got to meet there, and his parents, Eric. and Naomi, I believe, like 22 weeks is. very early, >> very very early to give birth. And who. knows what the percentages are that. you're told at that s and throughout. history what the percentages are of. survival. So it's like seeing steel this. 18-month-old little lad with all his. personality you know he like move his. mouth move his face move his body and. his parents just like loving so hard.
like hey so thankful that they have. their boy you know and it's like it's. hard not to cry actually whenever you. think about it especially if you're. lucky enough to have kids. So thank you. to Iowa. Thank you to Iowa, Tai. Special. state, man. Special place, special. experience. >> Yeah, without a doubt. I mean, I don't. know if I can add much more than, you. know, you hit the nail on the head, you. know, pretty good right there. Uh my my. nephew, uh they saved his life there. That would have been like three three. years ago now. So, um yeah, I'm glad it.
gets the publicity that it deserves. because I think a lot of people like to. be cynical and talk about the wave and. and say like, "Oh, this is, you know, kind of [ __ ] that's for the media,". but it it really isn't. You know, you. hear every one of those families talk. about how, you know, if that's if that's. all it takes is, you know, 5 minutes to. maybe brighten their day when they don't. have a whole lot to look forward to and. it's just kind of constant misery and. and all that kind of stuff. So, yeah, I. said it in, you know, my Instagram post. like there's few things I have more. pride in than being and being a Hawk.
So, yeah, I mean, I'm I'm glad you guys. got to experience it. Uh, it was. certainly, you know, very special for. for me to be able to go back and. experience uh everything on Friday. It. was it was awesome. >> Awesome time in Iowa. First time in 20. years. Happy game day. Got back there to. celebrate ball. And we appreciate. everybody that came out and celebrated. it alongside of us. You know, there was. four or five different chance for me to. take my shirt off throughout that entire. show, AJ, you know. >> Yeah. Yeah. What is that? >> I know the first time this season that. that has happened, you know, across the.
South. Maybe earlier in the year would. have been nicer, but I genuinely don't. know what I'm supposed to do whenever. there's just, you know, I don't know. what I'm supposed to do. The first four. times I'm standing out there and they. start chanting it. You know, as we're. standing in that um I forget what the. stage is called. It's basically a circle. and it was me, Dez, and Reese out there. and uh I was talking about special teams. and we have this plate. We're seeing. people standing in windows on buildings. over here. Just [ __ ] crazy scene.
couple lads starts with two to three. then it picks up to like 10 to 20 then. 30 then about a hundred people as we're. standing off camera to chanting for me. to take it off you know and I'm like. whoa whoa whoa no later later they go. okay so then that that wraps up then as. I'm walking back I get back up on set. people up in the front take it off I'm. like whoa whoa later so at the very end. they start chanting it as I'm in the. middle of my pick and my brain actually. doesn't have enough power to be able to. think oh got to take the sleeve button. >> good buttons Yeah,
>> I wasn't even expecting it. But I. genuinely don't know what I'm supposed. to do. If anybody has any uh ideas or. tips on what I'm supposed to do whenever. there's hundreds of people yelling at. you to take your shirt off. Now granted, I have been working out a little bit. I. do feel pretty good about where I'm at. Didn't love that it was right next to. Caitlyn Clark for the first time of the. season, but the reaction was obviously. very calm and uh and uh kind of casual. to this situation. So, I appreciate. everybody doing that. But me picking.
Ohio State in Iowa shirtless uh is. certainly a moment I'll remember and uh. we can retire the shirtless thing now. No more take it off chance anywhere we. go. >> You know what I you know what you should. be very happy didn't like when you were. trying to get your hand out of that out. of the the buttons. I thought for a. second you're going to all of a sudden. pop open. You're going to elbow Caitlyn. right in the back of the face right in. the head or punch her in the mouth. Something like that. I was worried. >> Worst case scenario. And she just got. what? Elbowed in the mouth. He you dodged a bullet there. He was. good. All good.
>> Yeah. And then Sabin was really tight in. there and I was What about his arms? What if his arm get ripped off? >> Yank him off. >> That was like two people out. >> Quick thinking there too. >> I felt handcuffed. Yeah. I had to Oh no. Oh no. Oh no. Yeah. Oh no. I'm trying to. hold. It's amazing. >> Lost the bracelet. The bracelet goes. shooting across the stage. Shout out to. my daughter. She's created one of the. greatest bracelets of all time here. This thing still bringing it. >> Still bringing it. Still together. still. together. Unbelievable. >> Shout out to McKenzie. She might be a.
designer in this entire thing. I would. say that was a special weekend though or. a special couple of days in Iowa. And uh. very thankful for it. Very, very. thankful for it. And. I think I still only have one game that. I've gone wrong that we've visited to. >> tonight. What will it be? We'll make our. official picks. We'll also do our. overreactions on the other side. We got. to hit all the headlines from the. weekend. Baseball bringing it. >> big time. baseball bringing it big time. Got to talk about that. And obviously. got to talk about every other thing that.
happened around Sports World, including. WNBA playoffs, right? >> Oh yeah, >> of course. >> [ __ ]. >> He was locked in. >> Was he? >> Oh yeah. I thought the Aces beat the. fever in the championship, though. >> No. >> Oh, Aces lost the first game. >> to the Valkyries to the Valkyries. Paige. Buckets kind of didn't have a great game. to close it out there. >> It's Hey, it's playoff basketball. It's. playoff hoops. I like Kelsey Mitchell. says she doesn't feel comfortable being.
a FIFA player. She's one of our best. players. I didn't like that one bit. >> [ __ ] with. >> Kelsey, we love you. I love you, Kelsey. >> It's tough. Tough times that. organization. >> I know. >> Yeah. >> Feels like there might be a little bit. of an overhaul, huh? Hey, >> a bit. >> Maybe. Maybe not. Maybe everybody comes. back and just says, "Oh, this is what it. is." I guess whenever the eyes of the. world are on us, you know. Yeah. This is. kind of. >> the pressure. This is the pressure that. happens. >> Kelsey Mitchell. We can't lose Kelsey.
Mitchell. >> No. >> Hey, >> we cannot lose. >> out here. We cannot lose Kelsey. Kelsey. Kelsey. We cannot. She's gone. >> No, no, no. >> We need her. >> We need Kelsey. >> The book out. >> She just scored another 20 points. Fever. out. She scored 20 still. So that that. is what is going on there. Okay, let's. get to a break on the other side. We. wrap everything up. Be a friend. Tell a. friend something nice might change your. life. like.
good old days. >> AJ always like to say the good old days. we're living on this breathless dream. players. We killing them. Perspectives a. necessity these days especially. So if.
you wait, you should take some time to. live a pleasantry. >> 12 teams count down to one. We're trying. to find a national champion and it. starts right here in Norman with the. boomer. >> Take a look at that [ __ ] bell. That's. >> Who's that? Who's out? That's George. Straight. >> Don't you [ __ ] forget it. Over. the last team standing.
>> I hear you wild [ __ ] maniacs going. crazy. You deserve what you earn in this life. You'll get burned. The world turns. You'll be fine. Don't concern what feel. divine. He'll emerge as the pure devil shrine. Universe is in first is on time. You. live yours. I live mine. No sign.
>> $1.5 million. >> Yeah. Malachi Tony is an explosive play. waiting to happen. >> Malachi Tony outside. Touchdown Miami. shotgun looking to his left. Sweet. to go with his second pick of the game. >> He said as soon as he saw him wear the.
hat, he went shoving up my [ __ ] ass. >> So many people paralyzed by fake. problems. All the negativities impairing. all their prophecies. Never fail, always. win. Got to be philosophy. This life is. one and done. It's an actual anomaly. That's why tonight it's Darius Buckle. vers AJ Hawk in the cotton ball. >> He has been able to do whatever he.
wanted all year. >> Ke. should have been a Thor award winner. Big six, baby. Big time. >> Stop it. >> Make big time play. >> Keonte Scott wants the stadium. You had. that. >> All right, Foxy, you better tell me if. you're filling it. >> I do not get consent. Not. >> Yeah, buddy. Chris got a mismatch over. there with Jeremiah Smith. >> That's where he looks. Jeremiah Smith.

Hour three in this program begins right. now. FOOTBALL. >> IS the absolute greatest. We're so. incredibly lucky that we get a chance to. chat about it every single day. That's. AJ Hawk. The toxic table is also over. there in the Thunderdome at Boston. Connor and at Ty Schmidt. One half of. the hammer died Cowboys AP. Tone is over. there. Tone, tell me a little bit about. the trends of the gambling this weekend. for the NFL and even college if you'd. like to dabble, sir. >> Yeah, so uh a big thing last week for us.
was home dogs. Uh they were 6-2 last. week, they were 3 and3 this week. So. still not bad for home dogs and as far. as winning the football game. And then. the one thing we were talking about. we've been keeping track of all season. was teams coming off a 20point loss. Uh. they were two- one this weekend. The. Packers got a win, New England got a win. coming off a 20point loss. The only team. to lose coming off a 20point loss was. the Philadelphia Eagles cuz they look. like absolute garbage uh in that. situation. as far as just, you know, totals and stuff like that. The uh dogs.
were 10 and5 so far this week. Um and. then the over was uh overs are eight and. seven. So, a little close on that, but. it's been a bit of a dogs as of late. >> I love that uh the dogs are continuing. to hunt. And I also appreciate the fact. that with these one-core games, AJ, >> the difference between being one and. three and 0 and four and three and one. and four and0 are just like what three. plays potentially for some of these. things. That is uh that is the greatness. of the NFL. Nine-year NFL vet Darius Jay.
Butler is here. What. >> such? >> Deb, a lot of people mad about the refs. and the amount of flags. I do don't I I. don't think it's sustainable, but maybe. they're just trying to set precedent. early that they're still in charge now. that they got their new CBA deal done. >> Maybe. I don't like it though. I don't. want the refs to be the part of the. conversation. We got all these great. players, great quarterbacks, great. coaches. We want them to be the. conversations, not the refs. So. hopefully they figure it out. It was. funny uh this weekend I saw this post of. like all the refs in their like side. jobs or what they actually do. So it's.
interesting that comes out the same. weekend that they you know however many. flags in the last 11 years which is. crazy. So hopefully this is kind of the. end of them being in our top five at. least. >> Hey, we got a lot of really good skill. position players. Debut. We highlighted. them earlier. CD K9 and T-Mac. Obviously. the three you'd like to talk about this. weekend, but we got some nonquarterback. MVP conversations brewing. debut. >> We certainly do. I love when guys are. featured, offensive play callers getting. them featured and then the quarterbacks. getting the ball to him. So, yeah, K9,
CD, and T-Mac, they definitely led the. way. But every week we see somebody, even somebody we don't expect. Parker. Washington had a run, he kind of fell. off there. So, it's somebody week to. week that shows up. That's what this. league is about. You just mentioned a 20. point stat. That's a week toe thing. And. look, we got the Browns and the [ __ ]. Giants in the top of their division. right now. So, I mean, this league, man, that that's why this league is the best. Yeah, it certainly is. Ratings are. through the roof. We assume that'll only. continue. Uh there are fans. around the league that have given up.
hope. There are fans around the league. who have smoked on the pipe of we might. win a damn Super Bowl this year. There's. nothing in between. You're either all. the way in or all the way out. This. morning I put out a bird call saying, "Hey, listen. We have arrived at another. magical overreaction Monday. I want to. hear from you. All you have to put in. your tweet is. >> # I don't want to overreact. but.
>> nailed it Bruce. I appreciate that. Uh. it became a number one trend in the. United States of America. We appreciate. everybody participating. We know it's. not about us, it's about ball, but we. are lucky that we can be the conduit of. these conversations. Our first one here. is from Darius J. Butler. # I don't want to overreact but. the Texans defense doesn't scare a soul. >> They surprisingly are the main reason. the Texans are completely defeated and. almost certainly heading towards the. shite division. Big surprise D but.
especially with Dico Ryan as your head. coach. >> Huge surprise. All the question, all the. talk was about CJ Stout coming into this. year. You had the contract issues. Is he. going to get paid? Dan Dano mentioned. earlier CJ Stride has no business being. 0 and4. but he's kind of doing his part. But this defense, the pass rushers, they're unbelievable. The secondary have. been getting absolutely slaughtered. Kamari Lasser, he's one of my favorite. corners in the league last year. He's. had a rough go at it so far. So, I'm. shocked that this defense is kind of the.
reason. Now, as a Colts fan, I kind of. love it. Uh kind of love that they will. be in the Shite division. You can almost. guarantee that being completely defeated. at this point in the season. But I am a. fan of Deikica Ryan. I like JJ Watt, and. I do like CJ Stout and the boys. So, I. hope they turn it around and get it. figured out. But for right now, it's. ugly right now in uh Houston. >> Yeah, that's why you don't want to. overreact. >> But. completely defeated. Not great stats for. the playoffs. Let's go to the next one. This one's from Storm Duffy. Storm Duffy. says, # I don't want to overreact, but.
the Bengals are back. Zack Taylor needs. to give up play calling or give up on. coaching the Bengals. He is the. definition of coaching malpractice every. [ __ ] week. Also, Joey Burrow needs to. get his head out of his ass and play. better. [ __ ] everything. Ty, was there a. lot of this from Bengals fans around the. internet? >> Yeah, and this is a couple years in a. row now. You know, basically every time. they lose it is, hey, Zack Taylor is. basically just ruining these guys. potential. Not just Joe Burrow, but you. know, Jamar, T. Higgins, you name it. It.
was the defense for a little bit. But. yeah, I mean it sounds like outside of. the Bengals winning a Super Bowl, I. think people pretty much unanimously. want Zack Taylor to be fired, and that's. unfortunate, but that's kind of uh the. situation we find ourselves in. >> They threw the ball 54 times uh with 12. called rushes as well. So, that's I I. think that's a big part of it here is. why they're they're upset with the. situation there right now. >> Same story, new year. AJ even picked. against the Bengals this weekend, if I. do recall. AJ, you're uh growing up. outside of Cincinnati in Dayton in.
Centerville as a Bengals fan. You played. for the Bengals. You've turned on them. You don't even think they have a chance. now. >> No, I have not turned on them. I just. picked against them with when the Jags, you know, as far as the spread goes. And. I obviously I picked right, I guess, on. this week, but I didn't know they're. going to throw the ball 54 times. I. mean, you have to have some kind of. balance, I would think. I think what. Chase Brown nine rushes for 10 yards. >> Yes. >> Yeah. You're going to have to. >> threw it 54 times. Nine rush 10 yards. I. think Joe even said afterwards he wants. to throw it more. I saw in a postgame. presser. So, who knows what's going to.
happen there. I I think they could still. turn around. >> That's who they paid though. You know, they paid two ones. >> as a wide receiver and they got a. quarterback. They paid. It's like we. know they're going to throw the ball. That's what they are. So, I guess acting. surprised that they don't have a lot of. balance is something we've been doing. for like two years now, three years. But, we just hope that it would be. different this year for the Bengals. fans. Sounds like if you listen to old. Duffy, there he is. It's same old year, same old trash, same old shite, same old. bungles. I don't love that for them. It's way too early in the season to give. up hope with Joey Burrow as your.
quarterback. But maybe it is time to. hang it up as a Bengals fan. Come over. to Colts. >> Come over to Colts. >> How close Cincinnati to Indianapolis, AJ? >> That's not too far. That's probably two. hours or so. >> Hour and a half. >> Hour and a half. Two hours. >> Come on over. We're playing terrible and. winning games. So, you know, like that's. at least a little bit more fun. Let's go. to the next one here. It's from Sleeper. Chiefs. Hash I don't want to overreact, but. the NFL thought there was a light at the. end of the tunnel with the Chiefs. dynasty. Well, sometimes the light is a.
freight train named Kenneth. [ __ ] Walker. Raiders lost their. Super Bowl in week four. The Chargers. will be selected in a first overall and. the Broncos are frauds. All while Kansas. City is the only undefeated team left in. the AFC. Dread it, run from it, the. Chiefs arrive all the same. The Chiefs. is still the Chiefs, they're saying, AJ. Hawk, and I believe him. It's actually a. little bit different now that they added. K9. >> I actually feel better about this Chiefs. team than I have in the past because of. Kenneth Walker and what he is able to. do. Like like we talk about all the.
time, if he's able to stay healthy with. how Travis Kelce has looked as well, man, like they might add Tyreek Hill to. this roster. The Chiefs are an. absolutely scary team to think of, especially like right now. Like I think. they're even going to be a much better. team in two months from now than they. are right now. Debot, they thought the. window was closed on this dynasty. I. think they were wrong. >> Yeah, I don't know who thought that. Long as 15 is suiting up, they got a. chance. He's been Superman. He's kind of. been the Michael Jordan of this. generation. He might just be ready for. that uh that next three peak like MJ did.
at the end. But yeah, AJ just mentioned, you mentioned it having K9. You do have. questions at the receiver position with. Rasheed being banged up. Obviously, the. ugly injury with Thornton, but. defensively, I like what they do as. well. They have a lot of pieces. Sneeed. came back. He's playing well. Delane, uh, he's been unbelievable as a rookie. I like how they match him up in some. downs with Brock Bowers. We talked about. Brock Bowers a bunch last week. So, I. like what they have defensively as well. So, yeah, the Chiefs, they're a scary. scary team to face right now. >> Conor, how many times had the uh.
Patriots dynasty been deemed dead. throughout the years whenever they were. on their run? >> Oh, after 2004, I'd say dang near every. single year and definitely after uh the. undefeated season where they kind of. blew it in the end of the Giants. But I. mean that's part of the thing, you know, you kind of need that in order to. motivate those types of people. You say. it all the time. You know, Mahomes, those elite level competitors, they. almost want to be ruled dead so that. they can use that to fuel the fire. >> We talked about it all off season. It's. the first time we've seen Patrick. Mahomes like dotted,
>> you know, not talked about, kind of. overlooked. He didn't even have his best. game and I I think he would probably say. hasn't played his best that he could be. yet, but they're still getting wins in a. big way. Shout out to Travis Kelce. looking fast as well. You talk about. Debo Sammy looking fast and George KD. looking fast. Travis Kelce looks young. as well. Good to see. Let's go to. Philadelphia. Yes, this is from MG. Lotto. # I don't want to overreact. But. >> this Eagles theme is [ __ ] awful. >> Especially Cam Jurg and the offensive. line.
>> Jaylen's running for his life and sorry. Anie couldn't care less. >> And no wonder Jay Love sucked. He had. Manning as his coach. I'm sick of this. [ __ ] With that said, London, here we. come. #fire everyone. Tone, how do you. feel about the Philadelphia John's. reacting normally to another loss for. the Eagles? I. >> I've been noticing this on the on the. internet and it's crazy because this, you know, exemplifies that. There's one guy on there that gets the. Eagles fans give.
zero [ __ ] to. >> Who's that? >> Jaylen Herz. Why does he get no [ __ ] He. looks like absolute ass out there, but. it's fault. It's the O line's fault. It's the OC's fault, but it's never the. guy under center's fault. And tell you. what, with these two eyes, kind of looks. like it's his fault a bit as well. So, it's it's I'm confused by that. >> Wide receivers don't even know if. they're on the ball or off the ball at. this stage. Hey, did you hear this John? This John doesn't think it's Jaylen. Herz. He's only got one eye at the end. of the target. >> Doesn't kick a field goal. Bad coaching. again. Siri blew the game again for the.
for the. >> onsmos times. >> Yeah. Wait, Kaboli. Kabali's an Eagles. man. >> The what? >> Yeah. The utmost time. Kaboli is out. there. >> That's John. That's John Kaboli. Uh WN. Kaboli. I think he was saying the utmost. amount of times is what he was trying to. say. But utmost in months come together. there. Uh he had it. If the Eagles win, he doesn't have that [ __ ] up, which he's. saying even more. So is what I'm talking.
about. This guy's ruining my life now. I. can't even speak English. He's ruining. the Eagles. Let's go to the next one. here. This is from uh Mini93. # I don't. want to overreact, but. >> give Bryce the MVP already. The Carolina. Reaper will hoist the Lombardi. Don't. ever come to the bank and think you can. dab on him. Dab that ass back to. Detroit. Lions, your window has closed. and Campbell without Ben Johnson is just. a can of soup. Keep ponding. I like. where Carolina's at with this confidence.
D, but as a former Carolina Panther, you're going to love it as well. >> I love where they're at. I love them. The bank is rocking. I love uh Bryce. showing up on prime time and yeah, he's. looked unbelievable watching the tape. Dano mentioned it when you're w when I'm. watching these games live, especially. from the wide shot. I'm looking at. coverage. I'm like, okay, you can almost. assume where the read is, where you're. going to try to go to, and it seems like. Bryce is doing it even faster than I am. from my couch, which is unbelievably. impressive. We see these clips from the. pocket or the POVs from training camp or. something. We know how difficult it is. to play quarterback, but he's been.
playing unbelievable. And he did this. obviously T-Mac had a huge huge night. but he was down a couple of his top. targets as well on the outside. So this. was incredibly and yeah what like three. or four just crazy. So what he's doing. what the play call is doing it's been. unbelievable right now. >> Yeah Jan Morgan and David Canales have. done a great job. David Ter has let them. do their thing because he has confidence. in him. And on the flip side the Lions. Ty are they dead Ty? I know you love. that in the NFC North but geez Louise. what the hell's going on? They got.
Gibbs. Gibbs is unstoppable. Jared Goff. has proven to be great. They've. seemingly not been able to stop anybody. and we love Big Shep. What the hell's. going on, Ty? >> Yeah, I'm not going to say they're dead. and that would be, you know, very. callous of me because the Packers are. still kind of hammer dog [ __ ] Uh just. kind of, you know, hanging on by a. thread week by week, but boy, I'll tell. you what, this does not look like the. Lions teams we have been accustomed to. the last couple years. And it it. certainly doesn't feel like a team that. could go win uh even the division at.
this point. I don't know. I mean, it's. just never a good thing when and they. don't even really feel like the Bills. who it kind of feels like have to score, you know, 42 points every week to win. Uh because their their off their defense. just can't stop anybody. It can't. And. eventually, you put that much pressure. on G and all all those guys. Like even. last night, they had an opportunity to. drive down late and before you know it, it's like you get three incomplete. passes, then it's fourth and 12 backed. up. Like it never it never actually felt. like they were going to drive the length. of the field and score. And with Lions.
teams in the past, it has. So, I won't. say they're dead yet, but boy, uh they. need to get their [ __ ] figured out very. quickly because it feels like the Bears, even with the the Vikings being. undefeated, are the best team in that. division by a wide wide margin. >> Big win for the Pack. >> Yeah, huge. Got to find a way. >> That's right. Find a way. Survive and. advance. You know, they and they tried. They tried every they they tried to give. that game away every way they could. You. know, couple red zone turnovers, uh, you.
know, couple third and 15s and longer. Let's let Jaylen Daniels, you know, kind. of scramble, pick up a first down, shitload of penalties again, but that's. week in week out. We're not worried. about that. Uh, yeah, dropping Exactly. Dropping touchdowns. um offensive line looked a little bit. better. So, that's something to uh. that's something to hang your hat on. And then you're the best player on the. defense towards Achilles. So, uh that's. not great. But hey, two and two, you. know, you just got to tread water until. you get Micah back and then everything. changes and then all of a sudden, you.
know, you're one of the best teams in. the NFC again. >> Yeah. >> When they had Micah last year, they. were. When they didn't have Micah, they. were one of the worst teams. So, I I. could see how the hope to stay around, be in it until Micah gets back could be. a real one. We'll see how it pans out. for you old Packers. Let's go to the. next one. This is from Fudge 52. I think. it's Danlosky's burner. # I don't want. to overreact, but. >> Justin Herbert has never looked this. bad. McDaniel is clearly the problem, but it's too early to fire him. If we.
do, who has the most experienced call. plays on the team? If you haven't. looked, it's Adam Gase. 0 and4. burn it. all down. Maybe Jim Harbaugh calls. plays, but maybe this is a long con, you. know, cuz there was the McDaniel Miami. Tua situation and Tua and Herbert will. be judged next to each other forever. Is. McDaniel trying to cook up a Tua's. better than Herbert thing and his post. Miami Dolphins? Let's go to a Dolphins. fan. Gumpy, is that potential? >> If he was still with the Dolphins, I'd.
be on board with this, but it turns out. they both might just stink. Jeez, >> he won't go. >> Maybe it's not McDaniel after all, man. >> He won't go to bat for two ever again. >> I did. I did my part for that man for. far too long as far as I'm concerned. >> That's how Dolphins fans feel. That's. how Dolphins fans feel. And. >> McDaniel, >> Chargers fans are very worried. Go. ahead. What do you mean, Debo? >> I mean, I'm putting let's say 80% of the. blame on Herbert. 80 because Dan came on. here a couple weeks ago and he said, "Hey, look, it's everybody but Herbert.". And to Tone's point, the same thing.
Hey, Jaylen Herz. Yeah, Jaylen Herz, you. stink. Look, 10 different coordinators, 11 years, whatever it is, you're. stinking right now. You got to figure it. out. It's a reason why quarterbacks get. paid 50 and $60 million. It's they make. their coordinators look better. They. make the backups look better. They make. their offensive line look better. But. when you're watching these. interceptions, it's not like DBs or. linebackers are making incredible plays. and tight coverage. He He's throwing. meatballs up. We had the CJ GJ one where. it's like pre- snap. He's sitting in the. post, you throwing in the post. in. Seattle. Everybody knows they run these.
type of coverages. He's throwing the. ball and Dan mentioned it. If one guy. doesn't pick it, it's a guy right behind. them five feet ready to pick it off. So. yeah, as a quarterback, you got to see. it. You're obviously getting the calls. You got a new play caller, whatever. That's what you got practice training. camp for. Figure it out. The guys that's. making the most money, you got to figure. this [ __ ] out. So Justin Herbert, Jaylen. Herz, everybody else, figure this [ __ ]. out. All right. >> Yeah. A lot of season left, but not. really. If you look at the stats, if. you're already ass, >> there's a chance you're going to end up. ass. AJ Justin Herbert dead.
>> No, I can't uh I can't call him dead. right now, but I I mean, two more weeks, you start out 0 and six and you continue. to turn the ball over and not play. great. I I have a hard time thinking. they come back. >> schedule. >> Yeah. >> 0 and six. >> That'd be worse. >> Yep. Yikes. >> Be worse. >> Never thought that in training camp, you. know, that that would that's where this. team would be. >> McDaniel would be dead first. >> Yeah. No, he's. >> there was a hint that it could have. something could have happened like this. from training camp. >> What's that? >> Smooching. >> Yeah, he was smooching, but. >> Oh, yeah.
>> Oh, gone. >> There was questions. I mean, you got to. think about it. >> No, we don't have to think about it. Guys in love. I'm happy for him. Playing. like ass. People not happy about it. Let's go to the next overreaction. This. from Sacramento Wararez. # I don't want. to overreact. >> Ben Johnson is the football god's. apostle. putting on a clinic no matter. the quarterback. More first down than. the Jets had plays. Pack week coming up. and worried about the comp. Hey Pat, can. you put us in contact with Indie for a.
Richardson oneweek loaner? #bear. >> I do like to see him waking up in his. bag. Feels like Ben Johnson does that on. a regular basis. AJ, this guy's. outrageous. Is he the football god's. apostle? I hadn't thought about that. He. He just might be. >> Yeah, he is. Um I think I I talked about. it last week. He does seem to be the. perfect mixture of that football. offensive genius. He's a crazy man, but. he also is able to lead the team and be. the guy to stand in front of him and he. is far and away he's clearly the leader. and they follow what he does. Going back.
to that picture, I like that picture. like but that picture is like what they. used to what's the movie where they say. you're marrying someone's daughter. They. sew the dude up in a bag the night. before their wedding I think so they. don't fornicate. >> I think that was Dwight Troop. >> Yeah, the Patriot they do it. Yeah, Nick. You know, they sew the guy up in a. bag so he doesn't sneak into his. daughter's room and fornicate before. they get married. >> Take a [ __ ] or piss. >> Yeah, good question. >> What about all the days before? What. about all the days before that? Like, >> yeah, it doesn't really check out when. you think about it. It doesn't. completely check out, but I guess it.
does. >> It's the dad saying, "Hey, if you're. going to be in my house, your dog's. going to stay in your pants.". >> I like that. I mean, put your dong in. your pants. But if you're Ben Johnson, I. think you showcase that every time you. get a chance to call plays. And uh it's. big and it's good. He's so good at. calling plays. He's a great leader, too. Good, better, best, AJ. Never let a. refer to your good is better and your. better is best. That's what we're. striving for every day. Last one here on. overreaction Monday is from Young Leo at. Sawyer 1551. # I don't want to.
overreact, but. >> it's going to be another winning season. wasting Josh Allen's talent. >> Joe Brady is a glorified pillow fluffer. for Josh and has no control over the. team. Are we ever going to figure it. out? Probably not. It's a damn shame. >> He feels bummed out. Dober down for. Young Leo. Con man, huge win over the. Bills. You got Young Leo feeling like. this, pal. >> Yeah, huge win. I don't know what this. is about really cuz I don't think Joe. Brady told Josh Allen to throw that.
interception at the end of the game, but. there's also a couple other plays that. Josh Allen got pretty lucky. I don't. know if you saw the one on the goal line. where he just decided to throw it into. the air, which probably could have been. ruled grounding and a safety since he. was in the end zone, but didn't. Yeah, it was behind the back. Could have been. a 5yd pick six. But no, it is tough. I. mean, they are in that Lions category. Like, they can't play defense. Going. into it, I was saying if there was any. team that you want to go up against to. get your offense back on that right. track, it's Detroit or it's Buffalo.
They really just aren't good. defensively. I don't know if they'll. ever have the guys to get it done on. defense. I know going into the year, that was a question. first time play. caller at DC, Jim Leonard, and it just. hasn't looked good at any point during. the season. But yeah, it is tough. But. if I mean, if you have Josh Allen as. your quarterback going into every single. game, you have a chance, and they still. have a chance to win the Super Bowl. >> That play was absurd. >> Yeah, that wasn't a crazy play. And hey, it wasn't intentional ground. It wasn't. a safety. Keep it moving. Josh Allen. football. Um,
>> when it matters though, you got to have. a defense. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. I think was it Sabin who said the. corners put the limitation on your. defense. Their corners have been getting. roasted. So you you gota you got to. figure out the reason that is because if. you don't have good corners you got to. keep the safeties back that expose your. linebackers in the run game. So you got. to have guys that can at least hold. their own on the outside and they. absolutely do not. >> Thank you to all the people that. responded to # I don't want to overreact.
but. that was fun. We'll obviously do it. again. Uh, it's not just football. Before we make our picks, we have to. talk about a sport that's in the middle. of its playoffs and cooking. Ty, baseball's really doing it. I I I didn't. get to see a lot of it, you know, cuz. football's happening, but every single. time I scroll my feed, I see some. magical moment coming out of baseball. What happened and what do we need to. know? >> Yeah, it's been incredible for most of. these playoff games have basically been. one-run games uh decided in late late in. the game. Uh starting with the Padres's.
and the Brewers, which has kind of been. the craziest series so far. In game one, uh you can go all the you can just fast. forward to the top of the ninth. Ty. France uh hit a deep fly ball off our. guy Trevor McIll. It caramemed off the. top of the stadium and got caught by. Jackson Cheerio for an out. There's a. guy on first base. They're down one run. A lot of people saying like this ball is. still carrying. It's still going. if it. doesn't hit the top of the stadium. This. is a two-run homer and the Padres's are. for certain taking a 4-3 lead into the.
bottom of the ninth. But that's that's. baseball, baby. That's what happens when. you play inside dome stadiums. The rules. say if it hits the uh the top of the. stadium and then is it comes down in, you know, fair territory and the guy. catches it, it's an out. So that's it is. what it is. The Brewers won the first. game 3-2 and then in game two. >> That sounds like basketball to me. That's the real rules. >> That is the real rules. It's also in. those dome stadiums when it's late as. late at night and or you know I guess in. the day for that matter too and you have. all those lights up there. It is so hard.
trying to track down a ball that gets. hit off the top of the you know the. stadium. It's now he got lucky. It ended. up hitting the top of the stadium and. kind of just dropped right down to him. like a can of corn. But a lot of time. you'll see those guys you know having to. run every which way because it takes. some weird carums off there. But yeah, these are the rules. Always have been. So uh no one could really even [ __ ]. about it. just kind of one of those. things where it's like, wow, the. baseball gods might not be on the. Padres's side. And then uh that was kind. of uh exemplified in game two. Mason. Miller, who is maybe the the best closer.
since Mariano Rivera comes in in the. bottom of the ninth, bases loaded. The. Brewers are down by one and Jackson. Cheerio rips one up the middle. Two-run. RBI and they walk off the Padres's. Uh. he also threw I believe like 30 or 40. pitches in this game. So, that calls. into question, will they be able to uh. to have this guy later in the series? But the Brewers, as it stands right now, only need to win one more game to. advance. And kind of everything we've. talked about with the Brewers thus far,
you know, not a bunch of home runs. They. just they just play ball the right way. You know, bullpen's good. They uh. they're not intimidated by anyone. They. get on base, singles, doubles, steel. bases, work counts, and uh they beat the. the Padres's, and they're sitting good. as they they head back to San Diego. But. that wasn't the only uh top flight. action of the weekend. Yeah, the uh. Dodgers and Braves, the Dodgers are. hosting the Braves. Uh it's currently. one to one. The Dodgers took game one. and then in game two, the Braves took.
game two to even up that series there. So, we go back to Atlanta for game three. in that one. And so that was a huge. series out there to that's the second NL. series. And then you know the Yanks in. uh Yanks in Tampa had their first game. as well, didn't they, Ty? >> Yeah, they did. And uh that was. absolutely terrible. Uh we have one. highlight and it is a Jonathan Aranda. home run in the bottom of the third. inning off Garrett Cole. And that's all. they would need because Drew Rasmmanson. threw seven and two/3 no hit ball for.
the Rays. They win one- nothing. And uh. boy, I tell you what, just silence the. Yankees bats. really embarrassed them. Game two is tonight. Cam Schlitler, the. potential ALSI Young, is on the bump. So, kind of a a do or die game here for. the Yankees as the Rays continue to. potentially be the uh the best team in. baseball. And then the last series uh is. our guy. >> Yes. >> Moonshot of Taka Murakami. And the White. Socks are taking on the guards. And in. game one, uh Moonshot hit a moonshot uh. to the moon.
>> Just absolutely launched an absolute. nuke. The game one was in Cleveland. Game two tonight in Cleveland with the. White Sox up 10 in that series and just. an absolutely electric situation going. on there. >> A little bit of a run there for Moonshot. of Takamo Morakami. So if we go back. from what I've learned is coming out of. Japan, he was a guy just like a lot of. these Japanese guys who end up in MLB, highly soughtafter, highly, they didn't. think he could hit a curveball, right? An offspe MLB pitch. So, he ends up with.
the Chicago White Socks as opposed to. the normal uh Japanese player pipeline. that comes to America. Is that accurate, Tai? Like, they didn't think this guy. was going to be who he is, but everybody. in Japan thinks he's like one of the. greatest players of all time, one of the. biggest hitters of all time. Is that an. accurate depiction? >> Yeah, pretty much. Uh they no one was. really very excited about like his. glove. Didn't know where he'd fit. defensively. And then the idea was, hey, this guy's unbelievable. He's got crazy. power numbers in Japan, but this isn't. show, you know? So we we he might hit a.
lot of home runs, but yeah, we don't. know the curve balls, but also they. didn't know if he could catch up to the. velocity in the majors. So yeah, he he. didn't get a massive contract from the. Yankees or the Red Sox or the Dodgers or. the Cubs or one of these teams that. spends a bunch of money and kind of just. fell to the White Socks who had really. no expect. I mean, they're young. They've sucked for a long time, so they. have a lot of high draft picks and good. young players, but there were next to no. expectations for them this year. and. he's been a cornerstone piece and a.
massive reason why they are back in the. playoffs and potentially going to go to. the ALCS. >> tonight. White Socks at Guardians 5:00. p.m. on TBS. Yankees at Rays 8:00 p.m. on TBS. Uh White Socks + 129, Guardians. - 156, Yankees - 123, Rays + 102. Schlitler pitching down there. That one. feels good for the Yanks. I don't know. ball that well. I don't know who Tampa's. pitching. I assume they got a great. pitcher as well. And then Moonshotaka.
and the boys on their miraculous run. Does that continue against the Guardians. who best team in baseball? Is that. right? >> The I mean for they have the lowest. payroll in baseball. And like they they. just they consistently year in year out. Everyone looks at them at the start of. the year. It's like, hey, you know. exactly what you're getting. And then we. get to this point in the season, they're. always there. They're always. competitive. And it's kind of like, hey, how the hell does this team keep doing. this? It makes no sense. Also tonight, you got Falcons coming here to New. Orleans. Let's make our picks and get.
the hell out of here. AJ, you did a. fantastic job yesterday. Congratulations. >> Congratulations. You are 85 and1. I was. 67 and one. I'm looking to become 500 on. the weekend. You have another dub under. your belt. How do you see tonight's game. going, AJ West? Debbut first. Debbut. Saints favored by a point and a half at. home. How do you feel? Yeah, I feel like. this is a pretty evenly matched team. Uh. I'm interested to see how Michael Pennix. Jr. looks again on his second start of.
the season. We know what Shuck is. Uh. I'm going to go with the home field. advantage in this. I'm going with the. Saints. >> Okay. You got the Saints minus one and a. half. Yep. Shucking the lads. Let's go. to the toxic table, boys. How do you see. it going? >> Yeah, I mean I'm a corn shucker as well. Uh I think it is going to be New. Orleans. You mentioned it inside that. stadium. You guys talked about it at. length. It's Marty Gro every single. Sunday or in this case Monday night when. it comes to that play. So I am also. going to go Saints minus one and a half.
in the shock man gets it done. >> And it could just be recency bias but I. really liked what I saw from the Falcons. uh last week when their offense is on at. least last week it was and it was. incredibly dangerous and incredibly. explosive. So I will take the uh Falcons. and the points. Mhm. >> Ty having a little bit of a Carolina. Panthers situation this season where Tai. and the Packers lost to the Panthers and. Tai started saying that's a good. football team. As we dance back and. forth with the tail of the tape, which. we'll dive into here in a second. Now, the uh Falcons blow out the Packers on.
Thursday night and Ty goes that's a good. football team. Let's get to the tail of. the tape. I like where your head's at, Bruce. Uh the tail of the tape tonight. tells you that the rushing offense for. the Falcons really good. Saints middle. of the pack. The passing attack though, Pennock back last week, is that change. your stats? Does that mean anything? Points scored. Does that mean anything? Rush defense, how you doing? We run the. ball and we stop the run for the. Falcons. On the other side, Kelly Mo and.
Shuck, great pass and attack. Everything. else kind of mid-range. Falcons might have found their new. identity with PennX as their. quarterback. AJ, who do you like? How do. you like? Cuz you're seeing the board. pretty well right now. >> Yeah. Yeah, I don't when you put the. tail of the tape up there, like if you. want to go on the road and win in a. hostile environment, what do you do? You. run the ball and you stop the run. Like. that's the that is the formula. But with. that being said, I know that's a special. place. That's a tough place to play. And. I like what this New Orleans Saints team. is doing. Chase Young, I think, has. three and a half sacks already this. year. Seems to be playing very well. early on. Give me the Saints minus one.
and a half at home. >> I like it. The Saints one and two. That. could be 1-1 and one though, you know. Yeah, >> they chose at the end of overtime. >> to go for a win. >> for a two-point conversion as opposed to. a tie. Didn't love the play call, >> but they could have just kicked the. extra point and tied that thing. They. chose not to. All right, I'll give my. pick tonight. I'll give my pick tonight. Not that it matters cuz you already won, but. >> I think you guys know which way I'm. headed. I think. >> it matters.
>> No, I don't know. >> Really? >> I don't think I do. >> No clue. I love how much these fans hate. each other, too. That's been. >> good internet. >> Great night on the internet. >> I mean pretty mean but. >> yeah ruthless. >> Yeah, but I mean. >> a lot of mean internet. >> That's all this. >> I was about to say the internet the X in. particular has become pretty mean. Oh. yeah. >> Place become pretty me. It's hard for me. to get in there. >> Am I retiring from that place? >> Oh that' be tough life change for me if. I just decide not to look at it anymore. I think I'm going to have to though. Age.
dog with down. >> pick and choose right. Couldn't you? Maybe. >> I don't think so. All or nothing. >> So, >> maybe do a little test run. Maybe a. little test run for a couple days. >> These people are pretty talented. people. Some of them aren't even people. though. >> Social media manager. >> A lot of bots. >> That That seems to work. >> Oh, I hate that. Hate that. Hate. everything about that. >> How about that bartender from Ohio? Do. you see some of the stuff he was saying. to me? He said some rude stuff there. I. sometimes I like to just let people know.
like the actual messages that I get, you. know? >> Yeah. Yeah, cuz a lot of people go, "This guy's soft. He's [ __ ] blah. blah." It's like, am I ever allowed to. defend myself and say like, "Hey, this. is [ __ ] [ __ ] up that this stuff's. happening." No, shut up, you okay? That's what that guy was calling me, too. He's the least. And what's. everybody so mean for? We're doing ball. We're enjoying the hell out of it. Tonight will be special. Can't wait for. it all. Appreciate you, AJ. You're the. man. >> Yes, sir. Good to be here. >> Safe travels back to Ohio, boys. I'll. see you guys tomorrow. I can't wait to.
see you. >> What a time in Iowa. Unreal times. Awesome. Look, crazy. >> What a time in Iowa. Hey, Gumpy, good. work, pal. Good job, Paul. Baby, baby, baby football. >> To everybody that set us up here, we. appreciate you so much. Uh, all right. We're going to get the hell out of here. Tonight, 6:00 Eastern, Monday Night. Countdown in Monday Night Football, Falcons, Saints, 20-y year anniversary. of the Superdome opening back up after a. 13month catastrophe of Katrina. ravaged the region. Be your friend. Tell.
a friend something nice. to my change of. life. We're in this sing together. Team. on me. Team on three. 1 2 3. Goodbye.
