Sports is swinging a hot bat, and. we're not even going to talk about. professional bats, but we'll certainly. talk about some college bats because the. College World Series has been. electrifying. Now, I can't wear my. Jordan shoes today because of what UNC. did to the West Virginia Mountaineers. just yesterday, but I will say out there. in Omaha they have a baseball tournament. taking place, and it has been. electrifying. We'll have to talk about. that. But, let's just chat about the.

other sports that have crowned their new. kings. Shout out to the NBA. The New. York Knicks have won their first title. in 53 years. Hats off. Congratulations to Jalen. Brunson and the boys for being able to. bring a title to the city that needed. some unity. Not that any city doesn't, but New York City coming together to. celebrate the hell out of what this New. York Knicks team has accomplished is. certainly beautiful. The crowd. reaction's outrageous. The vibes. immaculate. The parade is on Thursday, and remember, their mayor is Muslim. Their bagels are Jewish. Their Christian.

Dior. Knicks took five to go ahead and. win that entire thing, and now we shall. see maybe the biggest parade in the. history of sports. The biggest city in. the United States of America all rallied. around one team celebrating one. championship. Is it about to be absurd. in Manhattan on Thursday? Absolutely. That happens this week. And oh, does the. NHL decide to crown their champions this. past weekend as well? Oh, yeah. You're talking about old. guard, old sport, old trophy, oldest man. to ever hoist that title. Congratulations to Jordan Staal, Rod. Brind'Amour who's the coach of the. Carolina Hurricanes. He has now won a. Stanley Cup for the Carolina Hurricanes. as a captain player and now as a head. coach who's still absolutely shredded. And when you give me Lord I'll be. comfortable with it. Let me go ahead and.

Then in the field somehow we couldn't. field the ball either. So maybe. McDuffy's glasses were doing something. out there. Then they pull McDuffy. I. think there was one out left or only one. out two outs left in the bottom of the. ninth or top of the ninth where the West. Virginia Mountaineers were. And I.

thought put a true freshman these guys. are idiots. This guy's got 97. Hum. Hum. Hum. UNC walks out, moves on. West. Virginia has to battle Troy. That team's. unbelievable. Eric Church was there. I didn't like that he potentially didn't. ask anything about McDuffy with those. glasses as well. I might have had. another UNC alumni texting me throughout. that game. I will be making a rather substantial. donation to his foundation. I think. Drake May had a good time last night if.

I had to guess. But West Virginia. obviously Omaha on Friday. Uh 2:00 first pitch. We watch that game. Actually get to sing Country Roads in. parking lot as we're heading out of. there. Hop on bird. Very lucky to be. living this life. Not acting like we're. not. Fly out to Los Angeles. Miss the. first 10 minutes of the United States. soccer game. Missed the goal. Get in. there as they're calling another one. back. Don't worry, we score again. US. soccer all of a sudden had the greatest. night in the history of United States. soccer. Put up four goals. Filthy. Okay, one was an own goal. Three filthy goals.

against Paraguay. Dominated them. completely. All of a sudden people are. saying, "Wait, soccer. doesn't suck?". That's kind of what's happening right. now. It feels like soccer not sucking, a. sport that I played as a child, as a. youth, trying to make it on this US. national team. Not only Friday night. helps that, but the entire World Cup has. got magic going on. Germany scored seven. goals. >> That's right. >> They were tied 1-1 at one point. Everybody thought like, "Whoa, what's. wrong with Germany?" Then they came out. in the second half say, "Excuse me.". Five goals in the second. Sweden scored.

five goals in the game. Netherlands and. Japan, they scored four goals, two each. in the second half. Explosions. everywhere, and the fans and the. atmosphere is absolutely incredible. It's like, "Wait, did soccer have a. weekend?" It did. But I thought NBA had. a weekend. I thought NHL had a weekend. Soccer had a weekend? Baseball had a weekend? Well, how could it get better? Oh, I. don't know. How about an underdog. American. knocking out some foreign champ, making. him quit in the front of the White. House?

Oh yeah, that happened last night at. about 1:00 a.m. I mean, when you talk. about sports having a home run of a. weekend, no pun intended because West. Virginia hit no home runs against this. North Carolina team. They will though. tomorrow as they take on Troy. And. hopefully the wind's blowing out. But. when you talk about a home run weekend. for sports, we just had it. And then I had West Virginia plus one. and a half. They lost by five. So last. night was a tough night chasing the. crown. But what have we been learning. about the crown chasing that we need to. maybe remind ourselves? >> on an absolute heater before that. A lot. of us were this weekend. We all started. with Mexico on Thursday in the opening. game. Believe that night we took South. Korea. Draft Draft Kings is doing this. plus one where if a team goes up one at.

any point during the World Cup, you win. that bet. We did that with South Korea. on What was it? Thursday night? Friday. we had the Mountaineers. Friday night we. had Team USA. That was great. We rolled. into the into the Knicks. That was. great. And then you Yeah, you talked about it. like the Stanley Cup that Hurricanes. were absolutely down. There's so many. things on right now. It's insane as [ __ ]. with the World Cup. And now when you. have baseball all the baseball, UFC, golf we have the US Open this weekend. There are so many things and so And I.

Draft Kings and do place a bet, they. literally have a bonus bonus on any. sport you want. Like any sport you can. imagine there's a 50% 25% bonus. All. those things. So make sure you do that. before you actually place your bet cuz I. always forget and then cost me money. >> Yeah, Draft Kings the plus one bet they. both teams are winning. >> Yeah. >> They're now it caught us on Sunday, I. think. >> It did. Now, we're not saying that's a guarantee cuz. obviously we lost with Brazil cuz that. would have been an assumption that we. all would have made. We thought it was. too easy of a bet. Almost said it was. happening. And once again, it ended up. not hitting. But they're paying out both. sides of this bet sometimes cuz in these. A lot of these games that we mentioned. right there. Germany scored seven goals. Sweden scored a bunch. Netherlands and. Japan had four goals. This isn't the. soccer of the old days. Now, there's. still some boring ass games. Let's not. get get it twisted. And there will be. Used to be 32 teams that make it in the.

World Cup. So, I think there was a lot. of parity. Okay, I think there was a lot. of parity amongst the teams. I don't. know if there was as much disparity as. you would amongst the talent level. This. is the first year they've had 48 teams. First time. 16 more teams. I assume they. were absolutely crushed for making this. decision. I assume they were called. greedy. corporate. fat cats, disgusting pigs who are going to maybe. add some blemishes to the beautiful game. and make it no longer watchable. Especially with this hydration break, which is just a commer- Are they playing.

quarters? Is this you Is this U8? Is. this Are they bringing oranges to eat at. halftime? Like, what is this amateur. hour? I think there was a lot of that. being said. I will say this to somebody that grew up. playing soccer, but never really watched. much soccer cuz I was super bored cuz I. like to see things happen and. everything. Probably should have watched. more. Probably could have got better at. soccer, but just couldn't do it. And. also, my family wasn't sitting around. watching soccer a lot. We were a. American football. family. Always have been. These games. have been electrifying. And getting a.

chance to be there on Friday night, this tea- This American team right here, hey, first time in our history, okay, in my life. I don't know about. before that, but in my life. Once again, growing up playing soccer my entire. life, aiming to hopefully one day play. for the national team, all that type of. stuff. We've never had the amount of guys with. nasty filthy skill that we have now. We. have nine guys on the pitch, on the. field, that can cook people. That can. take people on. Now, Ream, our captain, 37-year-old, plays a vital role in this.

entire thing in the back. He is the old guard. But, I think the. guard that's coming up right behind him, which was the crew that was crowned. maybe in the last World Cup, I don't. know if they're all natural I don't know. if there's any natural leaders in that. bunch. I don't think Reyna is like a. natural leader even though his dad was. I don't think Pulisic wants to be like a. leader. I don't think that's the case. There was that generation that was. supposed to be the golden boys. They. were supposed to be the best we've ever. been. These guys grew up in academies in. Europe. We never had that before. I. don't think any of them wanted to be. like the captain of the team. I think.

they all just wanted to play. Now, that. generation, Ream is captain, 37-years. old. That generation, very talented. And. then this generation that's right behind. it. >> Yeah. >> Nasty. >> Yeah, yeah, yeah. We. we killed Paraguay. We cooked Paraguay. Our defense was suffocating. We were on. like a 3-4-3 and then a 4-3-3. So, you. start from the back, you work forward. We had three defenders whenever we're on. offense. Then we slid a guy back four on. defense. And Paraguay had no idea. Paraguay had no clue what was happening. I think this is potentially why the boys.

didn't look great in the couple lead-up. games either until they played against. Germany in Chicago. I think they were. trying to learn the system. The system. is chaotic. The system is insane. All. our guys have to be able to run. All our. guys have to be able to cook people. And. Paraguay's coach came out afterwards and. was like, Yeah, we we we were. We had no idea what the hell was. happening out there. They had guys. moving and playing. Yeah, here's his. quote. Uh the Paraguay coach puts the. feet down to the complexity of the US. approach. They dominated tactically,

technically, and physically. They create. a pentagon in midfield. They have a. solution to every problem. We were. everywhere. >> Mhm. >> And we knew exactly what they're going. to do. That It isn't just against. Paraguay. Paraguay played well in the. lead-up, by the way. I think they like. tied Brazil and some other team. >> Argentina. >> Beat Argentina, tied Brazil. Like. Paraguay is a good team. I think a lot. of people are like, "Oh, Paraguay must. be ass.". >> Gave up the least amount of goals, I. believe, in their qualifying in that. region. >> Everybody was saying they must be ass. It's like, "No, I think we. Hey. >> I might do it. >> Look out. LOOK OUT. >> [screaming]. >> IT'S COMING HOME.

>> I I THINK we have the confidence. finally. And I And I said that in. Chicago whenever we played against. Germany and Anthony Robinson attempted. that volley that just went through the. back of the net. It was nasty strike. Just an absolutely nasty goal. American. teams of the past would have settled. that, passed it back around because we. always thought the other team had more. skill than us. We're just going to try. to not let up any goals. Let's not make. any big mistakes and then we'll score on. our one or two opportunities that we. get. Pochettino has come in here dressed.

so cool. Air Forces Team USA Air Forces the same. incredible kit that he had on very He's. yelling at the refs. He's chirping at. this I mean he is very active. I don't. know if anybody can understand what he's. saying but I think they get his kind of. moxie and aura. All our guys think that. they're better than the other team. All. our guys have confidence. All our guys. have moxie. All our guys have skill and. I think we're a problem. After watching. all those games, they were the most. impressive team by far including the. greats. Germany put up seven but started. early. So obviously we'll have to talk.

about that as we go on. Is Germany who. they were late or is Germany who they. were early? Certain question marks we. can have. And aside from that, I think. America being an incredible World Cup. host also good for soccer. We're bringing a world together through. soccer. I think soccer is about to have. a big boost and Pochettino alluded to. that after the game. He said I other sports look out, you. know. And it ended up being like 24. million with the Telemundo number which. is the Spanish speaking. This was just. the English speaking thing. Up into the right if this team can win.

We still. hold Tony Meola in high regards. >> Oh yeah. >> From 1994 cuz he had a little bit of. success in the World Cup as an American. Landon Donovan will always be held in. high regards cuz what they were able to. do in the knockout round. This team. This team's way more talented than any. of those [ __ ] teams. I I mean it is. and they run and they're dogs and. Pochettino is we want to kill. We used. to not want to give up any goals. Now it. feels like we're all right. If we give. up a couple and they score, we're trying.

to score three or four. That has never. been our soccer style. It's going to be. fun soccer going forward. That's. the thing you don't really think about. is in between these games you got three, four days where these people are just. experiencing your city and last night, I. think the Scots were at Fenway Park till. like 3:00 a.m. playing bagpipes, just. hanging outside the stadium. This is. from Saturday before their game. They. were singing a country roads, I believe. They were just enjoying the hell out of. every single part of Boston. It's really.

cool to see and just the vibes of the. city as a whole. I think we have the. video as well of the Boston cop, Connor. Hardy. Yeah, he here he is. He's like. juggling, just having a good time. All. the vibes are just through the roof. It. pretty good foots. >> Yeah, that's not bad. That's incredible. juggle. He loses it and then steps on it. and says, "Look at me." which I'm going. to do going forward. They all obviously. surround him, start pushing him around. He loses his hat. He has it on backwards. at one point walk out. I think that's a. good. kind of representation of what it seems. like America and all of these fans have.

been in all these towns. Obviously. Boston still a massive city. I mean you. got Brits having Cracker Barrel bees and. gees for the first time. This guy with. this incredible mustache just cutting. into biscuits and gravy for the first. You actually watch his mouth say, "Yep, we've been missing this, pal." Remember. in Europe, they don't even have ranch. dressing. They do not have biscuits, they do not have gravy. I couldn't even. fathom the European mind experiencing. bees and gees would be a tweet of the. past, and now they're actually doing it.

Everybody was happy for them. I.

think Brazil was happy for them. Seemingly everybody's just having a. blast together. This is what sports. does, it unifies. But also this is. probably the first time a lot of these. countries. have ever experienced like American. people. Think about the way that they're. probably portrayed America at home. It's. either politicians, right, saying and. doing something that. at least half of Americans don't agree. with. Probably even more with the way. our political system is. There's I mean. let's say 65% of people disagree with. everything basically that's happening.

So they're they're only learning about. those times. Our protests probably the. only ones that are making international. news when everybody's pissed off. Let. alone the people that are doing the. news, those people are representing. America to these people. Probably the. only time they're really hearing about. it. I think their portrayal of what. America is probably pretty bad. Selfish, obviously greedy, warmongers, with this, this, this, all the things that they're. told. And then sports comes along and is. like, hey, why don't you come have a. kick. in the middle of Boston? Why don't you. go do this? Feels like the world's. coming together around the World Cup in. the United States of America. And.

I'll tell you I almost get emotional. thinking about it because it's been what. we have been preaching. Sports are the. greatest thing to ever exist and I think. we're seeing it in real time here. >> Yeah, and all the stuff with the other. people from different countries is. obviously awesome, but I found myself. looking at this and I'm like, it's a. pretty good like we got it pretty good. living here, you know? It's like the. simplest of things. Like when was the. last time you went and like I know like. if if someone was like, hey, you want to. go to Golden Corral? I'd be like, that. place stinks. Absolutely not. I do not. want to do that. And then you get people. from other countries who go to there and. it's like it's like a euphoric. experience. Like.

obviously we don't know cuz we live here. on a day-to-day basis and everything is. so divisive with politically and just. with everything, but like. it's an event like this puts it in stark. contrast. Like we do have it pretty. good. Like we live in a pretty [ __ ]. awesome place and it's it's great that. these other people who like you said. have never really experienced it get to. come over and be like, "Oh, wow, it's. not all this pomp and circumstance and. [ __ ] that I hear about. These are. normal people who like one of the guys. was walking." I they must have got an. Airbnb in a neighborhood and it was in,

I grew up on Golden Corral. My wife grew. up on Golden Corral. So they went to. church and after church she says, "You. know what? I'm taking y'all out to eat.". I was on the road. She said, "We're. going to. We're going to this nice restaurant. Y'all going to love the food." So she.

put blindfolds on them as she was. driving the car. And they got to Golden. Corral and they was like, "What is this? And they had the time of their life. See, people. is underrated. And I asked my wife, I. said, how much did you spend? She said, for all it was cuz my mother-in-law went. as well. She was like, all six, it was. about $120. And we ate good. You see. what I'm saying? And we ate good. You. got different sections in there. But, Ty, you know what? I wouldn't even take. you with me to a buffet because you're. the type of guy that would go in there.

They got their ass kicked. Jalen Brunson said, "You know what? I'mma spot you some points in every. single game. And I'mma come back and. I'mma walk that [ __ ] down." And he did. it. He didn't talk about it. It wasn't a.

lot of barking in between games, but he. damn so he damn so did some biting. He's. one of those guard dogs that you want. You know what I mean? That that might. turn on their own owner. >> No. >> that's how much of a pit bull he is. >> No, you don't want the dog that's going. to turn on his own, which I don't think, by the way, Brunson would. He took a. $130 million less or something like that. so they could pay the rest of the team. It feels like he's not only the dog that. will bite, but also the loyal dog to the. New York Knicks. life in the biggest city. >> He got. >> in the United States of America, which. is fantastic. But let's talk about why. he took a pay cut and for everybody else. around him that kind of, you know, had. to step up. These guys have been here. before. Okay, this has been a team that. has gotten to the playoffs and has had. their hearts broke. Tell me about OG. obviously stepping up in a big way. Josh. Hart obviously very happy that things. went different ways after he had. mistakes, but he's a huge piece of this. entire puzzle. Obviously great patriot. uh Robinson. Uh he he had an incredible.

run through this entire thing doing his. job. GTA, he had some remarkable minutes. in this. It felt like everybody on the. Knicks kind of stepped up in their own. manner. How do you feel about the Knicks. as a whole and the cast around Big Body. Brunson, who's clearly the star? >> Well, I mean, think about it. Every guy, including the coaching staff, was stars. in their role. Darren Erman, who we talked about, the. defensive coordinator, was a star in. their role. The Knicks had the number. one defense in this postseason. OG.

Anunoby, the ultimate three-and-D guy, I. call him the 2026 version of Scottie. Pippen, was a star in his role on both. ends of the floor. Josh Hart, Swiss Army. knife. You don't look at the scores to. see what he did that impacted the game, look at who he was guarding. See, no one. was talking about or no one is talking. about how he put the clamps on Stephon. Castle. That was his assignment. Stephon.

Castle was non-existent the last. non-existent in the last two games. And. then when you look at Mitchell Robinson. playing some outstanding minutes, especially in back-to-back games when. Karl-Anthony Towns getting foul trouble. And Mike Brown, Mike Brown coached his. ass off in this series. Think about this. for a second. Mike Brown had the guts. the guts. to go with a backcourt with two small. guys in back-to-back games in the clutch.

and get it done. Like they it was to the point where it. was heart over height. And so when you. see all of this, when you see. Jordan Clarkson coming in and providing. minutes after not playing earlier in the. season and those guys staying in the. moment. Mikal Bridges was horrible in. games three and game four at the crib, but hit some big-time shots on the road. And I mean, I can't say enough about. Karl-Anthony Towns. When you talk about.

the guy that sacrificed the most, he was. that guy. Like, he wasn't complaining. and moaning and griping about getting. the ball. No, he embraced being who they. needed him to be. Yes, he got in foul. trouble a couple times, but outside of. that his defense, the way that he was. engaged, I mean, we have to give props when props is due. This This is one of the greatest teams. that we've ever seen. And this is not an.

overreaction. We can go check the damn. We can go check the stats. The numbers. tell us that. 283 differential, you. know, throughout this postseason, nine-game winning streak, you know what. I mean? Nine-game road winning streak. The only other team that. >> 13 total game winning streak, nine on. the road and that. >> Yeah. Yeah. There's not every. >> to join it was was the Houston Rockets, I believe, back in 1995. You know what I mean? And Pat, I got to. come with these numbers and stats.

because, you know, some of these idiots. and trolls in your comments will say. Perk overreacting. Not you. Never you. Warriors when they went crazy. Bucks, Bulls, Bulls, Lakers, Celtics. So, you. could literally have the argument. anytime you wanted that they're the best. team. And you can also say that you.

lived through it whenever they were. getting 12-day breaks in between. serieses because they were so damn. dominant. Bruce, congrats to you and the. next brother. >> Thank you. And to cap it. off with a Brunson masterclass, 45. points, you know, the greatest closer in. New York since Mariano Rivera. Um it's. super fitting. And. a lot of people now don't really like. Wemby after this playoff run and the. finals run. But for you, when you think.

about Wemby, are the expectations on him. so much higher than any other. 22-year-old we've seen in a while? I. won't say ever cuz LeBron James, other. guys, but it feels like at 22 most of. the time when these teams would lose, first of all, it was never in the. finals, and then the other argument is, you know, Ant Edwards, for instance, when they would lose in these early. years of his career, it was like, "Hey, he'll get there." Even Jayson Tatum and. the Celtics when they would lose early. on in the conference finals, even when. they lost to the Warriors, it was like,

"Hey, this is a learning experience.". Whereas for Wemby now, it feels as. though it's like, "Hey, this guy. kind of blew it, especially in the. fourth quarter, all those come backs. Bruce mentioned. Um it was very much a. kind of a dump on Wemby versus. everything else, but what do you say. about his expectations? And is this. something that we're. probably going to end up hating because. he's going to come back and win five. finals after being motivated with this. first loss? >> Well, the people who hate Wemby.

just don't like basketball. That they. need to question themselves because. Wemby has nothing. has been heaven-sent. when it comes to former players and what. he's brought to the game of basketball. Like, Wemby embodies the NBA. Wemby is. the one that sparked up and gave life to. the All-Star game. Wemby is the one that. said, "I want to participate in the dunk. contest." Wemby is the one that said, "I.

want to win MVP." Wemby is the one that. walked off the floor without shaking. hands after they just got their ass. kicked by the New York Knicks on their. home floor. This is what we've been. missing. Like, it's been too much. friendly stuff going on in sports, and. this is Wemby wakes up every day for. anybody that's not in the Spurs. organization not to like him, and I'm. okay with that. We need to get back to. that. I don't want to keep seeing the. jersey swaps. I don't want to see guys.

being friendly working out with one. another in the off season. I want to see. just that, and he's going to learn from. it. Wembanyama knows what he has to do. Wembanyama knows that he has to get in. the lab and go develop a signature post. move. Wembanyama knows that he has to. continue to get stronger. He knows that. endurance is going to kick in. And what. he what he realizes is that this. marathon, this journey is long. So, you. have a greater appreciation for guys.

like Steph Curry and LeBron James who's. going to back-to-back finals and knowing. what they had to put their body through. in the off-season to get to this point. Look like LeBron had to go to Miami in. order to learn how to complete the. mission. He got there when he was in. Cleveland, but he had to go learn. And. it wasn't like Miss you know, we had. Gregg Popovich on the sideline. It was. Miss Johnson. He was learning as well.

And Miss Johnson did a hell of a job. with this team this off-season. A lot of. people don't realize how hard it is for. a young coach to get a young team to buy. in to being stars in their role, to buy. in to losing themselves in the team. Do. you. could y'all only imagine. how many times he probably wanted to. start dealing Harper or should have. started dealing Harper throughout the. regular season and the playoffs? You.

know how hard You know how many times he. probably had to walk in the gym and keep. dealing Harper motivated and make him. stay in the moment? Do you know how many. times, you know, a guy like Keldon. Johnson who was sixth man of the year. probably thought he should have been a. starter, but Miss Johnson had to. convince him to be that star? Like. that's hard. And the And the fact that. he's one of the youngest coaches in the. league filling the shoes of one of the. greatest, if not the greatest coaches. ever, and coming in into that role,

while managing Wimby and bringing them. to the promised land, the Spurs has they. have nothing to hang their heads about. It was a beautiful, a successful, and. they overachieved this season. >> Definitely got there early, you know, and I know there's going to be a lot of. things said about him, but we're sorry, Mitch Johnson. >> [laughter]. >> We offered. million next year. I think Vassell is on. the books. He's on a I believe 90 85 90. million-dollar contract. But, the. biggest elephant in the room is what are. they going to do with De'Aaron Fox? >> I think we know. >> And I strongly believe that they have to. move on from him right now. And it's not. because he had a horrible finals. It's. not because he had some horrible moments. in the NBA Finals. It's because that's.

Dylan Harper's spot. And uh. if De'Aaron Fox is on the 200-plus. million-dollar contract, your. cornerstone, your three guys that you're. building around is Castle, Harper, and. obviously Wemby. You know, and then you fill in the. blanks from there. But, you never want. to You got to You got to find a suitor. And the crazy part is, I don't know if. it's a if it's a team out there right. now that's going to be willing to take. on a De'Aaron Fox contract cuz I believe.

he's owed for like the next 4 years. >> 221 million over the next 4 years, De'Aaron Fox. So, obviously somebody. will sign up for it. We've seen that in. all sports happen where we get surprised. by it. And also, this could be a big. motivation for De'Aaron Fox. A lot of. people tying De'Aaron Fox and Mike Brown. together back to Sacramento and then now. everything has kind of taken place. So, they're saying Mike Brown's sleeping. good knowing that he's been right this. entire time. And I know De'Aaron Fox. knows he's a hooper, too. Is it. where Giannis is going to go? Is it what. do the Spurs do, you know, trying to. kind of get back to the mountaintop? Or. is it something else? >> No, it's Giannis. It's Giannis. Uh. I believe Giannis is going to be traded. before the draft and it's where he goes. Like Giannis is the one that moves the. needle. I'm hearing rumors that it could.

possibly be in Boston. >> Mhm. >> Uh that means Jaylen Brown might be on. his way out. But could you imagine a. healthy Jayson Tatum and the Giannis. Antetokounmpo together? >> Of course. >> That would be hell and hot water for the. rest of the league. >> Yeah. >> But Giannis is the biggest story. Where. he ends up. We're talking about a guy, in my opinion, that's already top three. greatest power forwards of all time. I mean, seriously, when you look at his. accolades, the only person that you can.

I was seven, I guess you. were like 8 years old. And there's like. a magic that comes with the tournament, comes with singing your national anthem, the stadiums are packed. Um there's something really special. about it. Obviously, it's the world's. game as well and there's and you know,

so many different countries involved. I can't get a ticket to a game. It's. impossible. I mean, you can't bring your. kids to the game because it cost you a. fortune. So, that that's the one thing. that I think has to be worked out. because when you know, working-class. families can't go to the game and I. think that's that's a tough that's a. tough look and it's not it's not not. right. So, but other than that, it's. been great. The US has been the best. team I've seen so far. Um and and we've seen some real some. real surprises. Curaçao getting a goal, they got a population of 158,000 people. Dude, I live in Huntington, uh New York.

We've got 180,000 people. So, imagine. making a team out of your hometown and. going to the World Cup and scoring a. goal against Germany. It's pretty. special storyline. >> Yeah, and then Germany said, "Okay.". >> Yeah, have fun. >> That was cute and then kind of moved. along and scored five in the second. half, I do believe. They went to. halftime at 2-1. We've been watching all. the games and you mentioned it there. US. Now, I don't know enough about soccer to. be speaking about it. um too much. But what I will say is. it seems like the boys are all in on the.

risk reward, understanding everything. that they had to do. Now. that's one performance and you were at. the game. They played. in they played in the top gear the whole. time. It was like it was almost like. that they were running downhill the. entire time. I don't know that you can. play that way for 90 minutes eight nine. games in a row. I mean look at this. I. mean they didn't make mistakes in. possession. They didn't make mistakes. out of possession aside from the goal. They were really good. Now they're going. to be tested when it comes to like. France, Spain, some of the big boys that.

are going to come into the tournament. Can they manage the moments because. they're not going to be able to play 90. minutes like just rock and roll football. like they did the other night. They're. going to have to manage. different moments when they're under a. little bit of fire. They're going to. have to play a little bit more in in. like a defensive shape sort of like we. did at TST a couple years ago. So. we'll we'll see if we'll see if they're. able to manage it, but they were. fantastic and and American fans all over. of any sport should be excited about. this team. >> Yeah, I think we should feel as if we. have a team that will represent. the past I think we had like, maybe six. elite guys. Five elite guys. Feels like now we got eight, nine like. elite guys on the field. Once again, Paraguay, I've only seen these guys live. one time, but I felt alive in there. Now, I do think a lot of credit, and you. talked about what we played at TST, we. played that way at TST cuz I think we. thought the other teams maybe had more. skill than us. I think for a long time, Team USA has always played very. defensive. Like, "Hey, we are going to. try not to get beat too bad. We're going.

to try to clog it up. And if we have one. chance or two chances, we got to take. advantage of it, but it's going to be. very boring. It's going to be very. low-scoring." And that comes from a. place of thinking the other team has. more skill than us, which is kind of. that naturally been the United States. thing. Then this guy comes to town, this. little Spanish-speaking fella, and it. feels completely different. Go ahead, Ty. >> Yeah, Gorilla, how much credit does. Paunch deserve? Because as someone who. didn't play soccer and like doesn't. really watch it, it's very evident. watching this team how much different. they look, and obviously the the players. are better. But I remember hearing this.

about Jürgen Klinsmann when he comes on, it's like, "Oh, hey, they got the guy.". And then I kind of checked out during. Berhalter because it seemed like, you. know, the the team kind of stunk. They. weren't going to do anything. Now with. him, it feels different. Like, how much. credit does he deserve? And do you think. he is one of the best gaffers around in. terms of who's in this tournament? >> Yeah. Haha. The gaffer. So listen, he came in, it was like super exciting, and then he was just not getting. results. They lost all the top European. teams. He kind of he was he should have.

been under pressure, and actually we. interviewed him at the US Open Cup. And. I it was at a moment where he was under. a lot of pressure with the US, and he. strolled in, man, with a Hugo Boss suit, or it was like Sergio Tacchini suit. Yes. Top to bottom, didn't give two. shits, man. Super cool. Um and and he's. created like something a very. I don't think I've ever seen this. before. He's created an atmosphere where. it's like. he's like, "I'm a winner. I've won big. things. I'm a great manager.

You guys suck at this, this, this, and. this. You guys have to grow up in these. sections, and the entire time he's been. kind of talking to other teams as well, club teams. Like, he's already setting. up his next job. So, it's kind of like. it's been a cold shoulder. He doesn't. really talk to a lot of the players. They get emailed, you know, you heard. about that. They got emailed if they. made the tournament or not, if they made. the squad or not. So, he's created this. narrative where it's kind of like, "Hey, it's up to you guys now. You guys are. big boys. You guys have the talent. A. lot of our players play in the Champions. League or top-level European clubs." And.

he's kind of put the onus on them. He's. like, "I'm good. I know I'm good. Now, it's up to you guys to show it." And I. think they've kind of banded together. sort of with him and against him in some. ways. But, I think they're now they've. taken on responsibility. If you watch. that Paraguay game, man, they were they. it was personal, dude. They sent the. message to the world that night. Can. they continue? We'll see. I'm I'm. optimistic, but obviously, as the big. boys come into the tournament, it'll. it'll be interesting. >> He just mentioned Herb Brooks. Italy, and I'm like, "Holy hell. I. didn't even know that was possible.". Now, we got academies, and also, go. ahead, Tone. >> Yeah, girl. I saw a stat the other day. that 15 of the US men's national team. guys play uh in the top European. leagues. It's more That's more than. Brazil has on their current World Cup. roster. How big of a deal is that? How.

big of a deal is it them facing the best. competition in the world all the time? And then, also, gaining, like we've. talked about, gaining confidence from. playing in those leagues and in. performing well. >> Yeah, so when I went over there, I was. one of the earlier guys going over to. Europe. And when an American came to. Europe, they were like, "What are you. doing here? Are you going to come in. here to wash the kit? Or are you coming. here to. The next best thing was you're Oh, you're a goalkeeper, right? You guys. play sports with your hands, you guys. must be goalkeepers. And it was like, you know, from another world. And. anything you did good, it was like, "Ah, but he's American." Now, it's like.

Americans are well sought after. Like, they they are unbelievable athletes. because they got big engines, they can run a lot, they're smart, they're athletic. And now, the fact that. all like eight or nine guys are playing. Champions League football, dude, that. changes everything. That that that like. week in and week out, the level, the. tempo of the game, the physicality of. the game, the speed of the game, they. are. they're not only playing in those games, they're dominating those games, right? Pulisic is Milan's best player over the. last 3 years. AC Milan's best player. Think about that. We didn't know if he.

was even going to start when he first. got over there. He is their best player. Weston McKennie, he is Juventus' most reliable players. Like, these are historic clubs. And. then, they've got a bunch of guys. playing Champions League football. Tyler. 98th minute. It was only supposed to be. 7 minutes of stoppage time. And it was. strictly because the ref like. "Let's see if you can score another one. Let's see it." And they did. And Reyna. curls it around. He comes in late, flops. a couple times, very dramatic, and then. bends one in, swerve off the outside of. the foot, nasty. Reyna coming in for a. 20-minute spectacle there for Team USA, which we appreciate. But, it was an. awesome win. The style was fantastic. And I think America's on board. Not bad numbers. Not a bad poll. 29.1%. in the back end details had the New York. Knicks coming back to dethrone Gaethje. and Gaun who had a lot of fans voting. for them. Soccer was third, and then the. Carolina Hurricanes in fourth. It's only. been 20 years. We We know what city it's.

in. I don't want to hear about it, said the. pollsters. How about you, AJ? Whose fans. are you most happy for after this. weekend? Do you match this poll with the. New York Knicks, or you going a. different direction? >> Uh I would honestly I think I match the. poll. I think the New York Knicks, whether you like the Knicks or not, it's. just pretty cool to see the city of New. York and just everybody there. I know. it's easy for some people, they get. annoyed by it. I think if they're not. New York people, it's it's pretty. awesome. Like this all of these videos. that are coming out, I cannot imagine. what the parade will be like. Love.

seeing the players. I know OG had a. great interview earlier. I saw today I. think Strahan was in on that. The boys. seem to be enjoying themselves, and I. just I think the Knicks should be the. talk of the town right now. >> OG Kush out there having the time of his. life on morning television. World Cup teams, it is kind of it's a. boring watch, and it's just like, "Okay, either we're going to lose a close game. to one of these countries that is much. more skilled than us, and maybe we'll. have like one opportunity to score." Um. and for the first time ever, it was. like, "Oh, no, we we are the we are the.

monsters out here. Like we are the. people that the people are afraid of.". And it's it's awesome to be able to get. behind that. I don't know if we've ever. actually been able to do that as a. country. And then all of this stuff is. kind of just a cherry on top. It And. it's one of those things where this. happens once every 4 years. Like who. knows when we will get another World. Cup. It might not be in any of our. lifetimes. I'm sure it will be because. obviously, people are seeing what happens when it. comes to the US, but just the fact that. it's in our country, and it finally. feels like we have a horse who could. make a deep run, like I'm all in.

So, it's one. of those things where yeah, I mean, anyone can win because of the the metal. bats and you mentioned it like it the. the field is not super long down the. lines, but it is pretty big in center. mean, last night uh North Carolina and. West Virginia, you see that kind of that. ball like you're saying gets caught in. no-man's land there and it's like uh do. I want to lay out and dive for this or. do I want to kind of just settle and see. maybe hold this to one run. Well, Paul. Skenfield, he he lays out and then, you. know, you get a a situation like that. where both runs are going to score, but. it like most things in baseball. unless you have an unbelievable offense, which a lot of these teams do, it's. always going to come back to pitching. and defense. If you have a guy who's.

throwing 100 miles an hour and throwing. a high mid-to-high 90s off-speeds, you. know, quote-unquote off-speed pitch like. more times than not that guy is going to. be able to dominate like the kid from. Man, everybody working in that. stadium has so much pride for everything. that's happening there. There's two. holding rooms, there's two locker rooms.

Every game is played there, so there's a. lot of action, a lot of movement. Fans. have to leave, fans have to come back. in. All the fans that are there, some of. them have been there every single year. for like 30, 40 years. Some of them pick. up teams cuz they're from Omaha, just. want to go to the game, so they're. adopting teams. And then obviously. getting to see the baseball culture in. its full, it was spectacular. I loved. the vibes. I will be back for West. Virginia for anything that they play. along with. I did contribute to the. jelly jello shot thing. So, I feel like. I did do it all, but I loved it. can you tell me about this year a little. bit cuz obviously it's our first year. really paying attention to it because. West Virginia's there. Has this been a. good year for the World Series? Feels. like every time I turn it on, something. magical's taking place. >> Yeah, it's it's been a great year and uh. again, look, having you here is really. important. It helps um it's just another. level for the College World Series. This. is a city like Williamsport cuz I do the. Little League that really embraces the. event. I mean, Omaha has been the host. to this thing for half a century. Uh. downtown the last, you know, 20 or so.

years. Um yeah, it it is one of the. neatest events and to your point, when. you have a Troy or West Virginia here, if you do come to Omaha and you're a fan. of just baseball, you tend to side with. the teams that have like the longest. odds. You tend to side with Troys. You. you hop on the West Virginia band. bandwagon. Country Roads has turned. everything around, man. I mean, that's. that's turned college baseball fans on. their head and if if they can win and. you can be a part of that, then they're. all in on that. And look, I think you.

guys have talked about it. I saw the. segment uh before I came on. You make mistakes at this level against. really good teams, opportunistic. opportunistic teams like Carolina, you're going to lose. And those those. errors last night killed them and they. don't ever make those errors. And I. heard one of your guys talk about just. the vastness of center field. It is. massive out there. That ball was up. there forever off the bat of Gallagher. and Showalter couldn't get to it. But. again, it was the two errors that led to.

the two guys on, which led to the two. runs. You play a clean game and you're. uh. you're West Virginia and Saban's got. this group fired up and they. overachieved maybe. I think they're. achieving to their level, cuz they're. damn good players. They play great. defense. Uh Hall is so good at third. It. was such an aberration. Double play. ball, maybe you rush it a little bit, but uh all the things that that you. touched on and started to experience, we've been experiencing for 20 years. He he gets overshadowed in a. lineup that's hit 170 plus homers this. season and all he does is hit in the. middle of the order and if you need runs.
