Hello beautiful people and welcome to. our humble abode. The Thunderdome on. this draft overreaction Monday, April. 28th, 2025. This program starts now. are happening all around us. It's. already April 28th. Crazy. I had to. check like three different times there. on the uh date bug. What a fantastic. time to be alive because obviously 257. dreams came true this past weekend as. the NFL wrapped up its draft from.

beautiful Green Bay, Wisconsin. We had a. chance to be out there for uh night one. of the draft and then day two of the. draft. It was a spectacular host. The. hospitality was through the roof and it. felt like the fans showed up all weekend. long. What a spectacle the draft has. become and 257 more names have been. called in hopes of becoming Hall of. Famers. There's also undrafted free. agents that were getting signed after. the draft ended. And uh you know, did. any of these organizations change their. team forever? Did anybody draft a pillar. player? Maybe a 199 maybe Mr. Irelevant,

maybe a top five pick, maybe a fifth. round quarterback, could be. Did anybody. draft the one that's going to project. them and trajectory them all the way to. the Super Bowl for the next 10, 20. years? We shall see. Draft grades are. always awesome, especially the day after. a draft ends because uh hey, this is how. we feel they did against what we thought. these guys would be. Yeah, we thought a. couple guys were first rounders and they. fell to the fifth, sixth, seventh round, but what we know is better than what the.

onfield play will actually say. I don't. think you can ever judge a draft until. 2, three years down the road. We will. continue to treat life that way, but we. will talk about some of the splashes. that some of the teams made and also the. narratives and directions that some. teams went. It's like Atlanta really. thought their defense was crap. Buffalo. Bills, same exact thing. You could tell. for some teams when they did their self. analysis, we need to fix this. If you're. a fan of a team that did that, congrats. to you. I think you're on the up and up. Now, remember, there can only be one. Lombardi winner and uh 31 losers. But.

during this draft time, everybody can. win if you look at it the right way. Like the Indianapolis Colts won the. Super Bowl this past weekend. I'm. excited that you guys got to watch that. But they're not the only team that feels. that way. Let's go to the toxic table at. Boston Connor at Ty Schmidt. Ty Schmidt, how'd Green Bay do over the weekend? Uh, I think they did great. Again, you know, the Packers are one of those teams where. anytime you're drafting in the back half. like where they are, I don't think. anything's going to really push you over. the edge. But it is interesting you. mentioned about like what the the fans. think the team needs as opposed to like. what the actual team thinks. They.

everyone was saying leading up to the. draft like, "Hey, we don't know what's. going on with Gy Alexander. They really. need help in the secondary." They draft. one quarterback in the seventh round. So, it's like, you know, obviously. they're okay with the guys they have, but obviously getting a guy like Matthew. Golden, they draft another wide. receiver, Savian Williams, in the third. round. So, overall, yeah, I'm very happy. with what the Packers did. Now, at. Boston Connor, did you guys win the. Super Bowl this weekend with Rael and uh. Elliot Wolf calling some shots? Uh yeah, I don't know if you're familiar with the. Hall of Fame, Pat. Um but basically, every single player that uh was wearing.

a Patriots hat after they got drafted is. going there. Uh, essentially, personally, I think a lot of people from. New England said, "Okay, look, they all. clearly think Frabel's the guy. Tackle, running back, wide receiver, center." I. mean, that is, hey, Drake May is our. future. Let's support him as best we. can. Tayvon Henderson, he knows sign. language, so he's a high character guy. who's also smart. He is a high character. guy. He is high character guy, you know. He's doing the uh he's doing the high, I.

love you, [ __ ] happens. Exactly. He did. Jesus loves you when he scored a. touchdown against Tennessee. Oh yeah, I. remember that going into the end zone. Yeah, he was awesome. He he was. incredible. Will Campbell, everything. that came out about him, you know, I'm. going to fight and die to prot to. protect Drake May in Exactly what you. want to hear. And then, you know, how. about this? How about a kicker and a. long snapper? You know, let's not act. like football just, you know, offense. and defense. This is a three-phase sport. and New England knocked it out of the.

park. First kicker off the board, Andres. Boralis. I watched him kick uh at the. combine. Live leg. Live. Live leg. Now, he went to Miami. His brother went to. Miami. So, that name has been synonymous. with kicking in Miami for like the last. 5 years or whatever. He's got some sweet. tattoos, a lot of moxy, which I think is. a good thing, not a bad thing. Uh the. only difference is you're going to be in. Foxboro now, and I think he has a strong. enough leg. He'll be able to sort it. out. But I like the pick a lot. Also, Loop out of Arizona got drafted the. Baltimore Ravens. What does that mean. for the future of the Baltimore Ravens?

And a punter from Florida, guy with a. great mustache. He got drafted as well. Oh, I'm sorry, dude. Guy murders balls. Campbell maybe. Philly. Crossaw. Crossaw murders footballs. Okay. I saw him at the combine. The only. thing with the guys at the combine were. like not a lot of them were as. comfortable catching the ball. He was. pretty comfortable catching the ball and. he was slaughtering balls. Now he's up. at mile high, too. Excited to watch him. do his thing. Let's go to one half of. the hammer. D Cowboys AP tone.

Pittsburgh Steelers had a big time. draft. Didn't draft quarterback though. What's going on over there? Or did they? Oh, they got the guy. They got the one. They got a national champion in the. sixth round of the NFL draft. Will. Howard becomes a Pittsburgh Steeler. alongside Jack Sor. A couple national. champions go to UPMC. Yeah, this was uh. what we like to call a dog draft for the. Pittsburgh Steelers. It was all dogs. You you know, you started with Derek. Harman, Caleb Johnson ran for I don't.

know 2700 yards at Iowa. It felt like. Oh, and then you get two national. champions and Jack Sawyer and Will. Howard. Oh, and Mark Bruner son. Ever. heard of that guy? Huh? Ya. Black 66 340. in the middle. Yeah. This was a uh the. Ravens ran for 700 yards on us in the in. the in the uh playoff situation. So, we. are going to make sure that never. happens again. Yeah. Ya. Ya. Yeah. Not. yet. That's what they said. Ya. Yeah. I. was gonna say I've been calling him Yaha. for the last four years. That's why Iowa.

is in the situation it's currently in. What's that? Sending, you know, 90 plus. guys to the league. Most that more more. more than any other, you know, active. coaching college football. That's what. Kirk does. So, I was doing okay. Ya. Black is a great name. And uh going to. be a great Pittsburgh Steeler. Got a lot. of meat. He's big dude. He's big dude. down there with Cam Hayward. I was. Yeah, I was very very pumped about this. draft. Last year was O lineman for the. Steelers. This year's a lot of D. lineman, we're stopping the run. Um, but. overall it felt like so like a lot of. times the draft comes and then Monday.

everyone's doing the Monday morning. quarterback on the draft saying like. this team's draft sucked. I didn't hear. any of that really this this morning or. this weekend, Sunday or whatever. It was. it was there was a lot of positivity. Well, besides one thing, there was a lot. of positivity coming out of the draft on. far as like as far as people got and. grades and stuff like that. It did felt. feel like that more. Yes. one team um. maybe you saying Cleveland that was the. only team that I saw a lot of people. saying what the hell's going but did you. also see the tweet that were like oh if. this if they just switched their draft. order around everyone would have been. like oh this is one of the best draft.

the best drafts they could have had two. running backs and Quinnon and Dylan. Samson who we both love two quarterbacks. you know Mason Graham uh Carson Sweinger. out of UCL is a dog but no I like I I. like the Browns draft honestly like I I. thought everyone liked everyone's draft. pretty much me too I uh the only thing. the Browns 's draft conversation was. they were the ones that selected Shadore. and they didn't look excited. No, it. didn't when. theyird that was the conversation. I. think they were all excited out. Look. how many picks they had. They had so.

many picks already. They've lost all. their their juice. That was uh their. last choice. But Shador Sanders gets. drafted in the fifth round uh two rounds. after Dylan Gabriel out of Oregon got. drafted to the Cleveland Browns. Fascinating dynamics. Obviously, we've. seen teams draft two quarterbacks in the. same draft, especially if they're a team. that needs quarterback. They got Joe. Flacco manning that Ford over there. right now. And not that Joe Flacco. didn't have success with the Cleveland. Browns just two years ago. But I saw The. Miz, he put out an initial reaction. whenever they traded out of two because. he wanted Travis Hunter. He wanted the. dynamic duo. They go to five. There was.

a picture of him on on plane, like. losing his mind, which a lot of Browns. fans probably were like, "We have the. number two overall pick. Let's do. something sweet. Let's do something. exciting." Especially after how. Gladstone described why he picked Travis. Hunter, which was like, "This is a. statement to everybody that we're going. to try to test the boundaries of. football and we're going to try to be. best." That's what the Browns fans. potentially wanted. Then I saw the Miz. give a take afterwards. He's like, "I. don't mind what we end up doing." Mason. Graham number five. Okay, we got a. Dline. We got a great D line with Miles. Garrett already. We get a get a little. interior pressure. See if this guy can.

work. We'll do that. He's from cold. area. He understands what it's going to. be like in Cleveland. You load up on. Quinchon Judkins. I think he's. unbelievable. I think he's unbelievable. Harold Fannon Jr. is a guy that I think. could play. Dylan Samson's a guy that I. think could play. I mean, when Carson. Schweisinger, should know more about. him. That's on me. Probably could play. Second round pick. Could have been a. first round pick, first pick of the. second round. So, it's like I look at. them, I think they did well as well. And. to your point, I legitimately, as we. were sitting through that first round, and then as I was watching through the.

weekend, it was like, oh, I could see. them doing that. And I think it's. because there's more good players in the. drafts. I think NIL now is creating a. situation where there's a lot better. players now throughout the draft. Going. into the draft, we heard some draft. experts say, you know, from like 10 to. 85 is the same. And then this is a big. third fourth round draft. And it's like. I think the reason why they were saying. that is cuz we knew the names that were. still available in the third and fourth. round. All weekend best available. I. knew we knew them. It wasn't like people. we had never heard of before. And I.

think that's NIL transfer portal based. I think that's how it's going to be. going forward. One person I am bummed. out about, Quinn Yurs. Yeah, Quinn Eurus. could have transferred. Yeah, Quinners. could have played somewhere else. Quinn. Eurus could have taken three four. million dollars to play college ball. somewhere else, up his draft stock. potentially. Instead, he ends up being. what, a seventh round pick or whatever. the case is for the Miami Dolphins. And. it's like he's coming from his hunting. lodge and uh I think Masiano saw a. hunting cabin for the first time in his. life. He he called it awful. And I think.

that's a lot of work back there. That's a lot of work back there. And uh. I'll tell you what, law racks. Law. racks. I I think those are international. racks back there, too. I think there's a. lot of traveling, a lot of investment. that has taken place in there. And I. think if you ask a couple rednecks, they. say, "That's a nice collection down. there for that boy." I think there was. probably some NFL fans that thought to. himself, you see what Queen got in the. barn? We didn't get him spinning it for. us, don't you think? Now, with that. being said, he drops all the way down to. the Dolphins very late. That was an. interesting story, especially with the. NIL transfer portal availability still.

for him. Uh Cam Ward goes from a zero. star coming out of high school. Triple. option. Triple option. I read offense. So didn't even have a really good. chance. Incarnate Ward does his thing. Then he goes to Washington State, does. his thing, transfers to Miami, 4 million. and a half, 2 million, whatever it ended. up being. transforms that school back to. what it used to be as a dominant force. and then showcases himself to not only. potentially be a Heisman all that but. ends up being the number one overall. pick from zero stars to the number one. overall pick all betting on yourself.

believing in yourself and never changing. there's a video obviously that has come. out of him and Shador Sanders talking. and Shador said like hey we should make. a song together or whatever and he go I. don't make I don't make songs he said uh. I am a football player when they when. people search Cam Ward I want to say. American. That is all I want. Tennessee got a. great one down there with an amazing. story and American dream. I think that. is what the draft is all about. Like. lives changing forever. Some great, some. good, but if you get in the building, you got a chance. Nine-year NFL vet.

Darius J. Butler is here. Debut, your. big takeaway from draft weekend and your. thoughts on the draft as a whole. Um, draft weekend was great. It always is. like you mentioned 20 what 57 guys. realizing their dream and almost nobody. goes as high as they uh think they. should have gone outside of obviously. the first pick and then Travis Hunter. big splash move by the Jacksonville. Jaguars didn't talk enough about Cam. Ward I don't think obviously because of. the the Shadore and he probably was the. most polarizing prospect coming into it. but yeah Tennessee Titans you got a.

division where you got a bunch of young. quarterbacks we still got a lot of [ __ ]. to figure out here in Indie Jacksonville. still really figuring out their. situation I even though they paid uh. Trevor Lawrence. So, this could be a. potentially franchise changing move with. drafting Cam Ward. You mentioned all of. the intangibles. You know, we see what. he could do on the football field. But. those videos with Shadur, those training. videos that that's kind of been an. ongoing thing the last couple offseason. them training together. You see a lot. about, you know, just who he is and. obviously we know who he is as a. football player. So, I hope that story.

uh continues to go on. But, uh I mean, like you said, at this time of the year, these draft picks happen. We're pretty. optimistic about all of these picks and. the teams making their decisions. They've done their due diligence. I like. what the Bears did in this draft, you. know, getting get Lovelin, getting. Luther Burton the third, who coming into. the if you had like the way too early. draft, this was like a top 10 type. talent. We know what Lovelin is as well. So, you're getting you continue to build. those pieces around Caleb Williams. Last. year's number one pick. Um, so I'm. excited about their pick. And then, uh, the Ravens. I think the Ravens got some.

really good players as well. Malachi. starts getting into that into that. secondary. Mike Green who has some. off-field things. That's the reason why. he dropped. He led the nation in sacks. So, um just a great great all-around. weekend, man. Draft is always excited. for every franchise. Um excited for you. know everybody and what the the teams. did and obviously the big story was. Shador, you know, obviously him dropping. to the fifth round. I think anybody um. expected that. Uh I don't think I think. we all can agree that it's not onfield. It's some off the- field things and uh.

it's always the same and we say in. football, you know, act how you can. afford to act and uh the NFL is always. in that position I think as a whole. where when they can show you who who has. the power, who has the control, they do. Um and and it's another moment for him. to figure out. I loved what I saw from. the family, specifically Shiloh, his big. brother. You know, he did a lot of. things uh to kind of continue to support. him. He still had the excitement when he. went fifth round. Uh still went out and. celebrated. I love that. And you just. got to respond. I think Shador's always. responded. He will continue to respond.

Um but yeah, this was an exciting. overall draft weekend. Yeah. Be who you. can afford to be. And um you know, if. any of the anonymous stories are true, which once again, we hate anonymous. stories. Don't like them. Mhm. Feels. like they happen and they're going to. continue to happen. No matter how much. you say we don't like them, they're. going to continue to happen. People that. hate them going to continue to use them. Yeah, a lot of anonymous sources coming. out about this meetings that they have. with Shador Sanders and uh a lot of the. anonymous sources from the meetings are. saying worst meeting of all time. Not.

even close. Not not even like worst. meeting of all time. Now granted, all. these could be a little bit dramatized. because of personal feelings towards, you know, either Coach Prime or Shador. or whatever, but it felt like there was. numerous of those coming out from. different places. And uh it's like was. that all coordinated or was that all. everybody's experience, you know, and. was there a chance you say act, you. know, that be who you could afford to. be? I I do wonder if there there was a. lot of NFL teams that were like, "Nope, that's not how this is going to go." If.

you were Payton Mann, if you were Andrew. Luck, if you were Cam Ward, maybe uh. possibly, but the talent we've seen from. you is certainly NFL capable, but you. haven't won. I mean, you haven't won. anything. Uh obviously, you've played. very good. So, I do wonder if that was. the big turnoff if it was the meetings. And I was not in a meeting, so I. couldn't tell you what those meetings. would look like. I have seen dayballs. meetings with quarterbacks from the. past. And I'll tell you that that you. could see how that would be a little. bit. This is what a dayball meeting with.

a quarterback is like in the draft. process for the New York Giants who were. potentially going to draft Shidor. Sanders. And then there was an alleged. report. Once again, all these things. have allegedly been fake, but how' they. get out to begin with? Shador allegedly. did not do well in a dayball meeting, which goes like this. Draw me up your. favorite pass play. I don't care what. personnel, as detailed as you can be. Got you. And we are all true freshman. quarterbacks in your quarterback room, and you are teaching it to us. This was.

a big staple in our offense. Okay. Uh. just based off the the athletes that we. had. Was that neighbors? Yeah. Do you. have a favorite route to throw in this. one? Yeah, this one. That one? For sure. Why you like that one? I love when teams. try to go man and try to gun that son of. a [ __ ] Empty play, huh? Uh, starts an. empty. Okay. And now you're homeing it. Yes, sir. All right. And then homing it. JJ, so is this signal to you or you call. it in a huddle? Huddle. I'd change that.

[ __ ] and give you one simple word. I don't know how the hell you make that. all out right there. Yeah, Coach Harball. loved it that way. Hey Jay, erase that Z. and make him the F. So if the strength of the. formation is right, which what formation. is that again? Yeah. Good. Right. Yeah. Right. He's He's there. The will's over. there. The line would slide there. We'd. say 72 Rita. 72 Rita. Gotcha. So let's. say this before you go to the next one. You have one play that you can run pass. play. And you have to run that play. anytime you want to run a pass in the. game. So, if there's 70 plays in a game. and there's 45 passes, you have to run.

this one play every time, you got it in. your head, you know the play you want. Yeah, let's do it. Draw it up. So, I. mean, you can see how some of these. meetings might be pretty That's just. hardcore. That's just day balls meeting. So, so whenever you get it me, too. Like. I I was watching that. I was getting. more nervous for the guys as he was. reciting words off and I think I have a. pretty good memory. I'm like gun accent. I I think I think down to the end and. then the tundra two under and then the. slope slant go or whatever. It's like.

they got to start to try to piece. together why the terminology is what it. is for the coach in that meeting at the. time and they're analyzing all of that. Oh yeah. So it that's just one portion. of the meeting and we're not saying. Shador didn't do well in that meeting or. that portion of the meeting. We're just. saying these meetings are pretty I mean. it's a pretty real deal. Yeah. Strenuous. This is a multi-million. dollar interview and I think the. difference is the quarterback position. is so so like unique if Shadore had head. allegedly this is anonymous headphones.

on in the meetings could whatever just. all the [ __ ] that they were saying could. be going on in the meetings where they. were bad individual meetings if he was a. wide receiver or a DB or even a running. back and he was the guy I think there. would be a chance like oh I like the way. this guy this guy just has that like. [ __ ] it. We like that. At the quarterback. position though, it is held in such. higher regard. And I'm not saying that. it is only the quarterback that wins. games, but if you don't have a great. quarterback, your franchise is going to.

go into the dumps. Like that is. literally what it is. So whenever. they're trying to figure out who is. going to be their person, who's going to. be the face of the franchise, who's. going to be their pillar, you could see. how if it was bad talking or bad. anything else, how some people could get. a little scared. Now, we weren't in. there. We were just going off what. anonymous sources were. And uh like I. said in the open though, none of this. matters. No. You get in a building and. you're a dog and you get along with. people and you're a good leader. Boom. Your next contract is going to be much. bigger than this contract anyways. That's just like I think the reality of.

the situation. Yeah. Yeah. It's it's. obviously how how you respond in those. meetings. I've been in those meetings. obviously from the defensive standpoint. and a level of it is intimidating and. the the people doing the meetings they. don't expect you to get everything right. but they're just seeing how you react. how you respond how you learn you know. cuz everybody kind of learns uh. differently and you're kind of you know. learning to speak a different language a. quick crash course so I don't know how. but it couldn't have have gone that that. terrible if because they had that late. meeting with Shador again the Giants did.

specifically kind of right before the. draft and I spoke to someone uh close to. the the Giants organization. They were. saying it is just kind of get him know. him better as a person, right? So maybe. he he rubbed people the wrong way as a. person. Once again, if you were this guy. can't be like this. Let's go. Let's fly. out there. You know what I mean? And and. that's what you do. That's what. different organizations deal with. And. these people talk, you know, all of. these people talk. It's a fraternity. when it come to coaches and and decision. makers amongst the business. And I think. uh you know young people you know don't.

know that as much. Aren't familiar with. how close the business is. Everybody. kind of you know wives, children, everybody's you know kind of connected. We move around. So we were with coach. Mike over the weekend. He talked about. all the different places. I had no idea. He was with you associated with the. 49ers when they were considering taking. Alex Smith or the first round pick. So. first overall pick. So it's just so many. different things and all of it matters. When you are a prospect coming out, people tell you your agent, obviously in. this situation, your dad, your family, everything matters. You know, all the. people you matter, all the people along.

the way. And I've heard nothing but good. things about Shadore. But, uh, you know, I'm not a decision maker. So, um, it it. doesn't just go for Shadore. A lot of. really, really, really good football. players went lower than expected this. draft. Will Johnson is a guy corner out. of Michigan who we thought would be a. top 10, top 15, top 20 pick. He went 47. overall to the Cardinals. Kobe Bryant. corner out of Kansas. I don't even think. he got drafted. So, it's just happens. every draft, but like you said, it. doesn't matter how you get into the. buildings, how you respond, what do you. do once you get in there. As pick 222. Hell yeah. Okay. I'm going to let you.

know. I thought I should have been 220, 221. Sure. That was the early. projections drove you. Yeah, it did. You get in that building, it does not. matter legitimately. Like there's a six. There was some linebacker that got. drafted, I think, in the sixth round, and they were talking about what he can. do on defense. I'm like, he ain't. playing defense, brother. Yep. You need. to talk about whether or not this guy. can play special teams. And if he if he. can play special teams, he's going to. make the team. And if he can't play. special teams, he's not going to make. the team. It's as easy as that whenever.

you're looking at it. And anybody can. buy in. Shador, he's not going to be the. starter, right? Well, maybe. Maybe. I. mean, Russell Wilson was drafted third. round. Yep. Uh after they paid Matt. Flynn in Seattle and they just paid Matt. Flynn and everybody thought Matt Flynn. was going to be the quarterback. They. draft Russell Wilson in the third round. that's not really like an automatic. projection into a starting position or. whatever. And then reports start coming. out like, hey, Russell Wilson's becoming. the guy out here. And then all of a. sudden, he's the starter over them just. paying a guy. So maybe Shadore is able.

to become the starter. Let's assume that. that is not the case in reality for any. fifth round, fourth round, third round, second round, even quarterback that gets. drafted. Uh but if he gets in there and. just does his [ __ ] I mean, it's going. to work. I mean, that that is literally. how the NFL works. You would hope. Still. a meritocracy. If you go in there, work. your ass off. This is for not just. Shador. This is for everybody that got. drafted. Like what's that? Rodrigo a. couple years ago with Kelvin Shepard. Hard Knocks the Lions. I don't want to. give him I don't want to put him in. here. Don't make me put them a fifth, sixth round pick, whatever you want, you.

know. So that that's kind of how it is. because from the top, you know, the. investment is made on certain guys with. the money or the draft slot and they. want to look right. You know, I want to. look if he draft a guy third round, that's the guy that's kind of gonna have. the leg up first round, whatever. So if. you are a fifth rounder, it is a uphill. battle, but it can definitely be done. cuz ultimately teams want to win. That's. what matters the most. Well, and even. just looking at the Browns like he's. probably going to have a chance to play. at some point. Maybe he doesn't start, but next year we're going to see him. playing a lot of injuries always at the.

Um, obviously. we're discussing uh cuz we're on ESPN, we're discussing uh Shador Sanders. falling to the fifth round. True. Not a. lot of networks are addressing that. So, yeah, nobody else is talking about it. The um Agreed. So, he falls, but he's. not the only one. There was a lot of big.

names, I think, late in this draft. Do. we think that's because transfer portal. NIL the way college football currently. is, is this what the future looks like. where a lot of the big names and kind of. the older players and almost a plethora. of players in the draft? No, I I don't think so. But I mean the. shador thing is like like yes, there. were some players who fell. There were. some players who like you know Debb. mentioned Will Johnson. I mean that's a. pretty good example of a of a guy who is. super talented and just based on the way.

he plays should absolutely have been. like a middle first round pick. The knee. injury um you know which has the. potential to be to significantly uh sort. of limit his career that played a part. Now, it doesn't have to. Miles Jack had. a similar thing, and he played seven. years, which is a great career. Everyone. would be happy with a seven-year career. Um, but teams didn't feel like they. could take the risk until, you know, the. second round, and that's why he fell. The Shadore thing is different. Like, I.

have a lot of conversations leading up. to the draft. I talk to every team. I. get a lot of intel. I feel like I. prepare myself for every freaking thing. that could possibly happen. Like that is. what I do for the month before the. draft. I spend the entire time on the. phone and it never crossed my mind that. Shador Sanders could be a fifth round. pick. It was not in the realm of. possibility. So like to me all time. draft stories like this is one of them. Yeah, I think so. Fifth round is a crazy.

drop. Uh crazy. I wonder when the. decisions were made by the teams who. were looking to draft a quarterback. I. wonder if some teams weren't thinking. about drafting a quarterback until like. fourth, fifth round, so they're. automatically ruled out as opposed to, you know, cuz they'll say 32 teams. passed on them however many times. It's. like how many how many teams are. actually thinking about taking a. quarterback at all in the first three. rounds? Uh they probably had a plan of. of differently, but there certainly were. teams that took quarterbacks in those. rounds that decided not to take Shadore.

When did that come about? And all these. anonymous reports we're hearing about. the meetings with teams is is that how. much has that been chatted about since. the draft ended? Um I mean it it was chatted about a lot. before the draft. Uh and you know before. the draft ended while it was still going. on like meetings weren't great. Um yeah. like what a day before the draft started. those those started coming out right? Wasn't that kind of Yeah. And you know, and the reason a lot of that happens is. because, you know, the same reason why. big news gets reported on, you know,

game day morning or other pregame shows. is cuz like that's when you sometimes. you sort of save your best, most. thorough detailed reporting for right. before the event. So like, you know, Tom. Pelisero comes out with the with the. article with 12,000 words. He sit on. that. He'll sit on that for weeks. Well, but but yeah, but but a lot, you know, all those conversations, like I had. several of those conversations with. teams about like, all right, how was the. meeting? Wasn't great. Like, all right,

why? And it's like, well, you know, just. didn't come off great. And I'm like, all. right, what does that mean? You know, probably nothing. It's like I spent a. lot of time trying to figure I'm not. just talking about Shador. This happens. with a lot of different prospects and a. lot of different things. like these guys. are picked apart like never before or. since ever. It's the only the draft are. these things picked apart to this level. and uh it's very challenging. It sucks. in a lot of ways but teams are making.

multi-million dollar investments. So. like it's on them to find out everything. you can but like all the things that. were discussed publicly in Tom's article. and other places are all the stuff that. were being discussed privately as well. And like the one thing about Shure that. I keep coming back to is like you know. Dion is awesome, great player, great. dude, was a very excellent colleague, worked with him for a long time and. every interaction with him has been. great and honestly all my interactions. with Shadore of which there have been. several like have been really good like.

he me too told you that story when we. facetime like he spent plenty of time. talking to my kids on FaceTime like. seemed like an awesome guy the advice he. got I don't think was good. Yeah, I. wonder I wonder if he thought it was. confidence he was showing, you know. That's why I wish that report would have. came out a little earlier, you know, so. then maybe we can correct course a. little bit and maybe there's a chance to. call and say, "Hey, I did not mean to. come across that way." But instead, we're sitting on stories. We're sitting. on stories. I didn't know this what you.

journalists do. It's unbelievable. So. maybe this is a great learning lesson. too for this entire process. And once. again, in building, anything can happen. as long as you're in there. Not as easy. as a fifth rounder as it is a. firstrounder, but once you're in the. building, you have a chance. Debbot has. a question for you. Rap. Yeah. Uh, usually we get a lot of stories. I know. you guys probably sitting on these. stories, but uh, Monday after the draft, any trades that almost happened, uh, and. especially in the first round that. didn't necessarily go through.

Yeah. Uh, well, I mean, one of them we. we talked about the Jiad Campbell trade. to the Eagles while the Chargers were on. the clock. You guys heard the story, right? I assume. No, no, I didn't hear. this one. Okay, so um Oh, you guys were. busy during the draft. That's right. Um. so, thank you. The Eagles, uh I didn't. watch. I was also busy, but I hear great. things about it. Anyway, um especially I. think, to be clear, I think this was our. best one. Now, didn't have all the. shenanigans, but I think as a draft.

show, I think it was a good draft. I. think we had a I think we did a good. draft show. I think so, too. Coach. McCarthy was awesome. Shreggs is the. draft guy. Thank you. Crushed. Like he. is actually the draft guy. So I watched. it back. I thought it was good. Boys in. the back handled it. Crushed it. Lower. thirds in. You watch it back like film. study. Yeah. Yeah. I watch this. Oh, I. mean I do the same with my stuff. obviously. I'm just I was just. wondering. Sure. See that's the thing. You work for like that's the there's a.

difference in the entirety of it all how. we view things. But nonetheless um uh. what was the question? Oh yes. Right. Jiad Campbell. So Jiad Campbell. So, I. think I'm almost positive that the deal. is done between the Eagles and the. Chargers at 22 to get Jihad Campbell, which was the guy I knew there was. someone the Eagles were targeting that. they would move up for. I I like I. wasn't 100% sure. I wondered if it was. going to be James Pierce, and I don't. think it was. I just I couldn't figure. out who it was, honestly. And then I.

hear Jiad Campbell's going to go to the. Eagles and then he like thinks it's done. and I think it's about to come out and. they had to be like, "No, there's no. trade. The Chargers just decided to. pick." Um, and that was uh it was Amari. and Hampton, right? Yes. Um, and then. the trade was off and I'm like, so at. that point, like I'm like, "All right, well, that trade didn't happen." Then I. hear the Eagles are still calling. So I. like I'm like tweeting and saying on TV. like, "The Eagles are still calling up. trying to trade, trying to trade." and. they ended up trading only one spot.

Yeah. To take the guy they would have. taken like nine picks earlier. So, they. ended up saving draft picks and he ended. up getting less money. Um, which sucks, but worked out well for the Eagles to. get so to get the same guy that they. wanted. They thought the Chiefs were. going to take him or whatever. I think. it was they thought someone else was. going to trade into that spot to take. him. Got it. You know what I mean? We. can't wait another second. Got to get to. We've come this far and like Yeah. We've. waited this long. Yeah. Okay. Right. The. other one was I had heard that the 49ers.

called up a couple spots to Hold on. So. that's not the full draft picks. Um. actually I think maybe the I think the. 49ers called up at seven and eight and I. assume that was to try to get a tackle. but it also might have been to try to. get Muel Williams who they ended up. getting. Okay. Yeah. Because it felt. like a lot of people just made good. decisions as the draft continued to. happen, you know, and what we talked to. John Schneider. He said the phones. weren't as active as he had thought they. were going to be and then we heard.

reports that the phones were super. active at different times. Was it just a. couple teams that were active or was it. a lot of people Well, so it's always. it's always really interesting. So. before the draft I'm starting to hear. that a couple teams are really really. active um of trying to trade up. And so. the teams I heard the Texans were and I. heard the Broncos were and like no one's. ever going to tell you who you're trying. who they're trying to trade up for cuz. obviously they don't want someone else. taking them. So the only thing I can. tell is like when the calls stop, right?

Like if you're trying to trade up for. someone and then all of a sudden the. calls stop, it's like, all right, well. you were probably trying to trade up for. that guy. the Bears try to take the. Bears take Coulson level one at 10 and a. bunch of calls stopped and I was like. wow like he was maybe the guy and I. don't know specifically those teams are. trying to trade up for him cuz I think. there were some others like Booker. people like. but like and like I didn't know this we.

all thought Tyler Warren was the dude. but it seemed like Lovelin was kind of. I mean obviously you know what I'm. saying Yeah, I do know what you're. saying. Yes, I completely understand. with what you're saying about Lovelin. and we obviously chitchated about him. being the first tight end off the board. and then you're uh over here saying, "Yeah, I have everybody's phones tapped. They were very active and then as soon. as this guy's no longer available, everybody stops." Well, that means. product that was wanting to be acquired. is no longer able to be acquired. seemingly. Congrats to Lovelin. What a. dog. Wow. Hey, you're the bell of the.

ball, Bob. You were a bell of the ball. Not as much as Cam Ward, who was a zero. star uh high school recruit all the way. to a number one overall pick. Unbelievable story. And then Travis. Hunter obviously uh gonna change. Jacksonville. Do we have uh old. Gladston's quote about Travis Hunter and. why the pick was made? Go ahead. Yeah, you know, uh as we sit here, Travis. Hunter is a Jacksonville Jaguar. And. really what comes to mind for me right. thinking about the sport of football and.

really the power of the game itself. right it's capacity to ignite belief. right belief in ourselves belief in. others right belief in achieving what. many may deem impossible yeah Hunter. he embodies belief okay right he's a. rare person he's a rare player but he's. also a reminder that the boundaries of. the game of football were built to be.

challenged. And so the decision to. select him was actually a statement, a. statement for how we plan to move, who. we are, and we want him to be nothing. more than him. Because when he is, he. elevates the space around him. Wow. from. the football field to the city to the. game of football itself. Travis Hunter. is who we've been hunting up. Couldn't.

be more jacked to be sitting right here. beside him and introduce you all to the. man of the hour. What a promo. What a. promo from old Gladstone there. I'll. tell you what. I'll tell you what, it. feels like it was pretty obvious they. were going to make that move all along. Gladstone didn't think of that in just. one night. That promo right there has. been a couple month. That's been a. couple month there. The way you think he. was preparing the speech. Yes. I think. he was preparing a speech for a couple. months personally cuz he said the way he. lifts his space, the whole space. He was.

talking about them selling out Colorado. lifted that entire thing. Ratings every. game that he was a part of was huge. Like everything he was saying was a. promo cut to say like this is who this. guy actually is, not like what I'm just. making up. I think he was obsessed with. getting Travis. Sounds like this was the. only decision for this guy to make. I'm. new here. This place needs a spark. We. got the one. This guy plays both ways. He's beloved by everybody. I'm going to. go make a move to go get him. And Liam.

Cohen said, "Get him down here to. DO and we'll change the entire tone. They don't have a stadium in two years, but they have a team that has been. trying and trying." Khan has been. trying. Oh, yeah. Hasn't he? Don't you. think so? Khan has been trying. He. wanted to build an entire city for the. Jacksonville Jaguars within the city of. Jacksonville. So now they got a guy, a. young guy and a young coach and make a. big time play. Cleveland Browns, I. assume a lot of people wanted to get to. two or how many people do you think were. trying to get up there to potentially. snag Travis Hunter? As far as I could.

tell, well, I think there was a another. team made kind of an initial call, but. as far as I could tell, the Jaguars were. the only team that made this like real. significant concerted effort to try to. get to two. This was a really. fascinating one apparently and I one of. the GMs said this. They've been talking. for for two weeks. Um I found out about. this potentially. on I think it it was either Tuesday or. Wednesday and I was told the Jaguars are.

going to do something bold. Don't be. surprised if it's offense, but they're. going to do something bold. And so I'm. like bold. All right. So that means. maybe Genty or maybe Tetro McMillan. That's kind of what I'm thinking. And. then I'm starting to hear that teams are. calling up to two and three. And I'm. like the only reason you I mean with all. due respect to Abdul Carter who is. awesome like Hunter would be the guy. you'd probably trade up for I think. Um. and like there's most people thought. there was two super elite players in the. draft. It was Carter and it was Hunter.

So I'm like if the Jaguars are going to. be bold, if they're going to do. something on offense, if they're maybe. if someone's calling up to two, it's got. to be the Jaguars. And I basically spent. the next day trying to figure out which. I think by like Thursday morning it was. pretty clear like Jaguars are going to. trade up. Um and it was, you know, it's. a fun, fascinating trade. It'll be I. can't wait to look back at it. But I've. never had more people on both sides say, I can't believe they did this. This is.

crazy. Why would you? And then it's but. but it's the opposite. So, like when. people think both sides are crazy, maybe. that's a good move for everyone, you. know? Hey, if both sides are happy, that's a good deal. And the reason why. the Jacksonville Jaguars are happy is. because they think they got a first. round corner and they got a first round. wide receiver. So, will we give up. another firstrounder? Sure. We're just. getting a corner who's the number one. corner on our board or instead of the. number one wide receiver we have on our. board. I think that's probably how. they're viewing it. And you heard.

they're going to be bold. Well, fortune. favors the bold. That's right. And if. you listen to Jimmy Gladstone, Wow. I'll. tell you what, he needs to be speaking. to the team. They need to have GM. speaking to the team. You all have been. placed here for a reason each week. I. think he needs to be given one of those. Hell of an intro. Hell of a promo. Not. everybody up here loved it. Just based. on I can tell based on looking at. everybody as we speak. I didn't I didn't. I need more details on that. I didn't. Why didn't you like what Jimmy. and I love the move from Jacksonville. You already paid Trevor Lawrence. Uh. there are still question marks around. Trevor Lawrence. Everybody kind of looks. at that deal right now when their. quarterback is up to be paid. So, um you. know, Gladstone and Liam, you put the. pieces around him for him to be. successful. So, I absolutely love the. move from Jacksonville keeping Travis. Hunter. You know, Florida boy in. Florida, obviously a dynamic player on. both sides of the ball. Still interested. to see how those snaps are split. But uh. I mean Travis Hunter is no denying he is. an absolute unicorn on the football.

field. I love uh the thought of Travis. Hunter going down there though starting. on offense and starting on defense. Playing full games, playing a full. season and just this becomes a normal. That'd be awesome. Yeah, Travis Hunter. plays uh the whole game in the NFL the. whole season. If he's able to accomplish. this Yeah. I mean, this this should be a. uh sports science uh spectacle of some. sort of how his body is able to do. something that nobody's body's ever been. able to accomplish. I mean, people are. getting limping to the finish line and.

that's a 17 games. Roger Goodell's. already got an 18 game schedule ready. 18-2. And I I think I speak for the fans. here if you guys want to listen. We'd. much rather a regular season game than a. preseason game, right? Yeah. See, so I. think 182 is the right move. So if he's. able to do that, man, plus playoffs, plus the Super Bowl, that would be. unbelievable for the human, just humans. as highlight. These highlights are. ridiculous. I mean, they. really 100 times and every time they're. still as special. And then you talk.

about uh you know, Cam Ward's uh. journey, like his journey was wild too, you know, to be one of the top rated. players in the country coming out of. high school uh following coach Prime to. Jackson State, talking about changing. the space around you. he completely. changed uh Jackson State and I think. kind of FCS and HB.CU uh football, the. eyes he brought to that um program and. then going to Colorado doing the same. thing, winning the Heisman in Colorado. and then you know going number two. overall in the NFL draft and then now. you know the movie is obviously still. being written but if he can actually be.

a full-time two-way player in the NFL. and doesn't sound like Jimmy Gladstone. is going to hold him back from chasing. that dream. They want it. They want it. And remember. Tony Khan, uh, wrestling promoter. Sure. We got a guy go Huh. Chief strategy. We. got a guy that plays both sides. We're. the only ones that have a guy that plays. the whole game. We can sell tickets to. that. That's probably Tony that put. There's a chance Gladstone. This is. oneonone, huh? You remember? Do you know. Andre the Giant? Do you remember Andre?

One of one. We used to be able to tour. him. They tooured him around. He went. everywhere beating everybody, every. town. Then there was a Hulster brother, right? Well, actually, sorry, Bruno San. Martino. I apologize. Pittsburgh legend. Shouldn't have done that. But if we got. one, if we got a guy and they are. championing him, I mean, and you you. know, Liam Cohen's going to be able to. drop some [ __ ] for him to get open. Let's assume Travis going to have some. highlights each week. Yeah. And on. defense, is is he going to be able to. play both ways? Defense. If he was. full-time defense, he'd be able to play.

against the Colts. Yes. Against any. team. Oh, absolutely. And on offense, I. mean, you got Bryant Thomas Jr. on the. other side of him who's a bonafide. number one, you know, potential. superstar in the league. And then on. defense, I think absolutely he can play. And you watching those highlights, you. can tell that he's a smart player. That's the other thing that's very. impressive. So, he's going to be able to. do it. Yeah. Ball skills like, but does. he have the time to do it? What do you. mean? That's a good question. It's a. great question. Like meeting time to do. it, you know? I think if he's able to do. defense full time, he'll be able to do.

offense full time cuz just draw up [ __ ]. for him. Yeah, you know, like that is I. I don't want to say offense is as easy. as that, but for him could be like if. you're trying to simplify this as much. as possible to make things happen. It's. like he's an offensive guru, right? Isn't he? It's just week week to week. the game plan and the installs and. things change so much. So just being on. the same like we've had, you know, Aaron. on with even like the signals, you know, certain signals or situations two minute. when things are moving so fast, you just. have to get those reps and that. continuity. And on defense is the same.

thing. I know a lot of people just. think, oh, you know, it's only a certain. amount of calls, which there is a more. limited playbook on defense, but the. adjustments you have to make on defense, been on the same page, but everything. we've seen from Travis Hunter on every. level has shown that he can handle it. And he seems like, you know, he's all. football. You know, he fish, he goes. fishing, he does some other things, but. he seems like he is completely enamored. with football and learning the game and. playing at a high level. A+. like people loved him just. character-wise like obviously the player. is great and the stamina like that's. like the thing that people were like can. you believe this but uh interactions. with him I think were from the people I. spoke with just not just teams but like. basically everyone he interacted with. like A+ and awesome. Um, the other thing. was you guys talked about Cam Ward who. was like, you know, for because of the. Shador thing. I think we all as like an. NFL world haven't probably talked about.

Cam Ward enough cuz we've known he was. going number one for a while. We. interviewed Mario Crystal Ballal um his. coach of Miami uh during draft week on. the insiders. Finished the interview and. you know you're like all right hey. thanks for coming appreciate it. He was. like guys like interview's over cameras. are off but like we could still see him. Guys, listen. He is a dog. He's like, Cam is just wanted us to know just not. for the public, just for our brains that. this guy is a dog. He's like, he will.

change that franchise. He is the best. and I guarantee you he will be. successful. And I was like, that is. like, okay. And he gave a bunch of. examples why, like just the time he puts. in on that, but like that was pretty. cool. You know, that does I love hearing. that about people because uh that's kind. of what we promote on the show. basically. But yeah, you need dogs. That's all. That's literally all you're. trying to do is find somebody that loves. ball and is a dog. That video that's. circulating of him and Shador talking. about making a song and him saying. American football. That's a football.

player. And I think his dad and you. never know what's real and what isn't. real. Calvin, is his dad Calvin Ward? Uh. I don't know. Yeah. Yeah, that's his. dad. Does he have a an ex account? We talk about. Bone here. Bone was washing his own pads. down in D3, wins a national championship. at a left tackle. That Bone, that guy. loves ball. That guy loves ball. D1. football is at moments and times.

incredibly hard and difficult. That's. 100% correct. That's all he wants to do. He's always been that way. Yeah. So, it's uh Calvin A Ward, too. Yeah. Hell. yeah. Hell yeah. Still got it. Calvin. And I think if, uh, your good friend Aaron Rogers does not. go to Pittsburgh, I think that would be. a possibility. But it feels to me like. the other. possibilities kind of don't exist. Like. people talked about the Vikings. Okay, well, they traded for Sam Hal. People. talked about maybe the Browns. Okay. Well, they I don't know if you guys know. this, but they drafted a second.

quarterback in Shador Sanders. So, I. don't I don't think he's going there. And I don't think he's going anywhere. And. and Dylan Gabriel. Jeez, this guy. journalism just a tiny bit, please. Third round pick. Third round draft. pick. Dylan Gabriel. True. I actually. came on the broadcast. I was like, you. guys are not going to believe this, but. Dylan Gabriel is going to be drafted. before Shidor Sanders. And everybody. made fun of me and it happened. Um, so I. don't think Cleveland's a spot for him. anymore. Um, and so like the more this.

goes, I kind of think he's going to be. the Falcons backup, which like there's. no source on that cuz the Falcons have. told us this from the beginning. It's. just we kind of like just didn't believe. them. It feels like um but I think I. mean he's he's got family in Atlanta. Um. I believe he uh his kids have. grandparents in Atlanta. I think it's. his wife's family, but I'm not much. But. anyway, he's got um he's got family uh. in Atlanta. I'm not sure like he's going. to he's got no trade cause. I'm not sure. he's going to go anywhere unless like.

something crazy happens where he would. be able to go be the starter. Um what. was the other thing you asked? The. trade. Yeah, the uh get back into the. first with the Ramsier. So, I was pretty sure at 15 the Falcons. were going to take James Pierce. They. had done a ton of research. They had a. visit with him and his mom the day. before the draft because there was some. character concerns on Pierce. So, they. like spent so much time and hours. getting to know everyone he knows,

meeting his family, getting to know him. and understand him. And I thought they. were going to take him to 15 cuz that is. how they viewed him. And then they took. place, okay, with a lot of uh there was. a lot of people there all weekend. Yeah, that rainy ass day, cold day, there was. a bunch of people there. Then on uh the. third day became beautiful once again. They showed up throughout the entirety. of it. I think even the Mr. Relevant. pick got a pretty big pop from the. crowd. I like the fact that they had a. bunch of uh non NFLers kind of cut. promos. Saw Wani cut one for the Buffalo. Bills. I saw Jimmy Uso uh do one. I saw. uh Chelsea Green, former United States. Champion. She lost her United States.

Championship, I believe, on Friday. night. Uh she gave a pick out. Dustin. Pouyet gave a pick out and uh Seth Frein. Rollins did a pick for the Chicago Bears. in Green Bay. And uh I'll tell you what, the pizzazz on Seth Frein Rollins, it. was a phenomenal piece of work, good. piece of business, great draft pick for. the Chicago Bears. And I think Seth. Freen Rollins is feeling the same way as. a lot of Chicago Bears fans. Maybe Big. Ben Johnson's brain is going to bring. them back to prominence. Zto, whenever. you watch Seth Frein Rollins do this and.

then you see Sham Shirania throw a nice. opening pitch for the Cubs. Wow. You got. to be feeling good about where Chicago. is and how Chicago is going. I feel. really good. Actually getting offensive. weapons is crazy cuz usually it's always. like some people you've never heard of, but like uh Ben Johnson's brain and it's. going to be absolutely amazing to see. what it does this year. draft night, brother. Appreciate you, too. The way you're working the film, we. had good film. Shout to ESPN for that. film, right? Shot to tone for ripping. that film. Shout to everybody in the. back putting that up and especially with. the lower thirds and everything like. that. But I feel like we did showcase a. lot of these young guys. Yeah, it was. good. And you know, we spent the proper. amount of time on each prospect. Wasn't. necessarily about the storylines of the. draft. It was about the prospect. It was. about the team picking them. And I think. we spoke, you know, I think most of them. were like, "Hey, like this pick, love. this pick." You know, we had some. questions, you know, especially when. Atlanta traded back into the first. round, what they gave up. Still like the.

pick overall. And that's what the. draft's about for all the different. franchises to be excited about their. team, to be excited about what their. team is doing, trying to build a future. winner. Um, so yeah, I always love the. draft and then being able to sit up. there with with Mike McCarthy, you know, just hear his stories and how he views. it, how he sees um different different. players fitting with their teams, maybe. why a decision was made or not made. That's always a awesome. Obviously had. Bill last year, but then having Mike. this year and Shrags on the team as. well, it was awesome. The crowd was the.

crowd was they showed up. They showed. they had a lot of juice, you know, throughout that whole shirtless kid. behind us. He had to be he had to be. freezing up on shoulders. Yeah. On. shoulders in overalls. What a time. Joining us now, ladies and gentlemen, is. the all-time leading tackler for the. Green Bay Packers. A man that got to go. home in many different ways alongside. his 12-year-old son, Hendrickx. He's a. college football national champion, a. Super Bowl champion, and a Rot Cup. winner. Green Bay absolutely showed up. I. couldn't believe when you turn on the. last day and it's still jam-packed. there. Like that's uh yeah, sometimes it. wouldn't be it. You would think it might. not be the most fun, especially like. Friday to stand outside when it's 35°. and rainy, but it still seems like what. 150,000 people show up there in that. parking lot. Yeah, I because we were. there so we understand what they're. doing. Like there is some stuff to go do. on the outside and there is some things. but you're still standing on parking lot. for three and a half four hours last day. drinking so much booze six round so much.

beer being consumed out there such I bet. you there was uh obviously people went. multiple days and they made an entire. thing. I assume there's going to be. people that do this every year that. might travel with the NFL draft, you. know, like next year's in Pittsburgh. I'm going to assume that Pittsburgh is. going to do well just because what we. saw happen in Nashville, obviously. massive. What we saw in Detroit, obviously massive. What we saw in Green. Bay, obviously massive. I think those. are football towns. I think you can. consider that football places. I think. Pittsburgh will show up in a big way.

And I think the backdrops will be. righteous, you know, if they set them up. uh in the right spots. The draft has. become a fullon phenomenon. 13.6 million. viewers. Um that topped uh you know, like the NBA Finals or something like. that. Yeah, of course. The draft finals. probably. What did Roger say about uh uh. I guess speeding it up? Yeah, he wanted. to give like a five minutes and then a. two-minute extending card or seven. minutes and a two-minute extending card. and you could only use it once. throughout the entire draft. I assume. everybody will only use it in the first.

round. I don't know if there's later. rounds you have a two-minute need or a. necessity to extra think it. Maybe. Maybe you're waiting for a trade to. happen. I think that wouldn't be a bad. idea. Add a little drama. One a day, I. think. One a day. when he said one per. round draft or one per round, one a day. Yeah. Yeah. Just But you got to assume. that people are going to use that two. minutes. Yeah. So that's got to go down. to five minutes. That can't be at seven. minutes because it might end up going. the other way. It might end up being. longer, you know, cuz so many two-minute. things are being put in. I appreciate it. though that it feels like he understands. it. We're allowed to keep this thing.

rolling because a lot of big businesses, they want the show to be longer. Why do. they want the show longer, Dutch? Advertising. More advertising. Okay. Just like if the season goes to 18 games. for everybody instead of 17 games, they. got what? Three more prime time games. they can sell to sell what? Oh, advertising or licensing for other. people to sell advertising. That number. is going to be a massive number. So, everybody assumes that shows want to. stay long. AJ, want to stay long, want. to stay long. But if your show is long. and it sucks and the number's low, you're going to make less money than if. you were to shorten it a little bit and. make it a great show and then your.

number's higher. You know, it's just how. you decide to do the business. Do you. want to create quality stuff here or do. you want us to just kind of be a. marathon dragout people? I think he. wants to make it entertaining. I think. he wants to make it a good show. I think. he wants to make it a positive night. That's what I got from both him and how. he's treated it over the last few years, but also how he talks about it to us. And there'll be times, you know, where. I'm asked for my opinion on something. And I uh obviously respect and. appreciate the hell out of that. opportunity to do as such. But it's like. I think they know that this draft is a.

this is a big deal. And I if you if you. haven't been yet, I think you you won't. fully understand how big of a deal it is. until you go to it. It's hard to explain. like, well, who's there? I Everybody. like, but what team? But it feels like. Super Bowl week. It honestly feels a. little bit like Super Bowl spectacle. Yeah. Everybody's there. Every. advertising is there. Every every uh. team is obviously there. Every team is. represented in fans. Every country that. is a fan of the thing is there. It's. like it is it's a full on it's media day. for the Super Bowl. Yeah. that is with. fans with 200,000 people being able to.

come or whatever their final number was. probably 600 and some thousand or. something like that. Yeah, I know. The. last day uh or Yeah, like I mean it was. Saturday and it was nice but 255,000. people showed up. That was more than any. of the previous days, but it's also. different because like you fans are. booing each other and stuff like that, but it's it's like such a communal. feeling like everybody was having a good. time. Everyone's kind of on the same. page. Yeah, it was a football. celebration. Exactly. And you don't. really get that as much on like a. typical game day or with the Super Bowl.

Like there's a little bit more animosity. between teams. Like there's really none. of that. It's just everyone's there and. the the only goal is like, "Hey, we're. going to drink this in and we're going. to have a good time." Celebrating. football. Yeah. Yeah. Everybody wins. Like Super Bowl week, it's two teams. Like draft draft week, it's hey, no. matter what, we're going to win today. Or we're going to lose so bad we're. going to boo and it's going to be a I. didn't see a lot of that. I saw a lot of. people get a camera put on them, not. have a reaction, and then Yeah, we need. that. Yeah. Okay. Yeah, it's a good.

pick. No, I don't. No. You see day. three, the Packers guy that was still. there that came out. He was in the green. room. Yeah, Barrett from Texas. That was. awesome. So, they they said 600,000. total attendance at the Green Bay Packer. draft. Where do they stay? I have no. idea. That's my because obviously you're. getting all these people that's coming. in these football cities that will most. likely never get a Super Bowl. Like. Pittsburgh won't get a Super Bowl. Green. Bay is not getting a Super Bowl. Nashville maybe. But you're bringing. these this type of event to these.

cities. But I I'm very curious to where. all that's why I didn't expect you know. that big of a crowd um like we had cuz. it's like where the hell would they stay. in Green Bay? They were they were there. There was not a lot of places in red. roof in comfort in right comfort in. suites. Pretty good hot spot. Comfort. was a hot spot. That's where we were at. Numerous beds scattered throughout this. place. It was a uh Yeah, I'm not going.

to blame comfort in suites for how I. sound right now. But I dude, I don't. know how I had a good time breakfast. My. room at the comfort in was bigger than. my room in the font blue. That's. Well, I mean, this has been the. update of the of the review call that. they came in um that they put into play. Now, you can update and you can. retroactively go go back and call a foul. or take a foul away when they go to do. the review. So, I think that was the. result of that. As far as that camera.

being up in the ceiling, man, that's. part of the evolution of technology and. everything that's going on in these. arenas. I definitely never saw that view. during during my uh time playing, but I. mean, we've seen it come. We've seen all. type of different angles and camera. views come into play as we as we go on. He's like, if you go look. it up, I'm actually bottom five in. amount of calls. And then I think. somebody did and maybe he's not bottom. five, but it's like close, you know? But I mean, to me, he separates himself. from either of those, MJ or uh D Wayade, with his three-point shooting ability. Man, he he made over three threes this. year. It wasn't but a handful of guys. that's ever done that. And I mean, he. really is shooting the ball at a high. clip. And I think that's the biggest. difference between him and those other. two guys. But once he starts slashing to.

the hole, that's where all the. similarities and all of the things about. D. Wayade and LeBron, I mean D. Wade and. MJ come into play. because when he when. he hits that launch pad, he definitely. get the the the MA feel or the D-Wave. vibe in different ways and and we seen. him put everything together and he's the. star in a series where you got LeBron. James and Luca Donic. He's been the. biggest star in the series and that says. a lot. It's awesome whenever they start. c you can see whenever like the elite. guys uh are definitely gonna make a.

shot, you know, like very rarely are. they going to miss after cooking. somebody because they want the. highlight, you know, cuz they want the. highlight to remain cuz if you miss shot. obviously not going to be able to run. it. Like there was a couple times. obviously Ant did it here in these. highlights. Luca would be at the top and. the ball would start going in between. his legs back and forth and then he. would start shaking a little bit and. it's like anytime he pulled that up. there it was it was 100% chance it was. going in. full strength. And when you say that. they've missed Jason Tatum, the the one. of the top guys on the team, Drew. Holidayiday's missed two games when. Porzingis was out. I mean, they have. they have a deep team and they've been. able to step up and and fill those gaps. Now, you don't want that to be the case. moving on into the next series and. beyond. You don't want them to continue. to have to uh fill in for guys. You. would hope that these guys, the little. knickknacks, they get healthy and. they're able to be out there because if. they're at their full compliment, I. don't see anybody being to beat them, man. And look at the physicality. he's taken. He was being guarded.

probably as tough as he's been guarded. in some years right now. And this is an. older step. And I was more impressed. with him being able to battle through. all of that and still find a way to make. shots, find those openings and just be. out there and be able to be like like. And the numbers don't even. represent it halfway at all. when Steph. is hitting just like turnaround jumpers. Feels like everybody else is able to do. their part. You got to be scared of the. And. then whenever he's on offense, he's just. running like I don't want to say just. routes, but basically he's just running. like fake routes to try to get open, try. to find a pick, try to find some space, and when he gets the ball, somebody's on. top of him, and he runs again. It's like. uh he's non-stop the entire time on the. court. So stressful. And you could you.

could tell you could tell that Eay has. to if you're guarding him, your job is. to face guard him. They showed a couple. plays like there was action going on. over here on the other side of the. court. Thompson, Jabari Smith, whoever. it was was completely back turn. the hockey world was viewing it, but. from the national perspective, 30,000. foot view, Alexander Ovetkin and. Washington Capitals. Not only is he get. the scoring record in the history of the. NHL, but their teams are wagging once. again. We saw that son of a [ __ ] Tom. Wilson this weekend lay somebody out. Classic Tom Wilson which would then lead. Bang. That's a free trait. He was on the. show last week. Uh then that leads. directly to a goal for the Washington. Capitals. Feels like that is Capitals. hockey. Uh are they rolling and can they.

win this whole thing? They very much. could. That's a series changing hit. right there. Uh Carrier in the neutral. zone. He had his head down. Some people. complaining about it being a dirty hit. and a head shot. No, he went right. through the body here. And as you see, everybody's a little confused. Carrier's. trying to get off the ice. He's. scrambling. And uh Cherin, a beautiful. punt. Pat, I called it a Pat McAfee punt. play. Thank you. When he sent that, I. said that on the broadcast. And Duane. picks it up in Mat's feet and then they.

end up tying it up and the rest is. history. So it went from probably being. a 2-2 series at this point to now being. 3-1 for the Washington Capitals. So, they're just feeding off all that. momentum from the regular season and the. OV goal chase. And even going back to. last off season, like they made playoffs. last year, but they did so with one of. the worst goal differentials in the. league. They didn't really provide a lot. of offense uh before this year and then. become one of the highest scoring teams. in the league among obviously Obie.

chasing that goal chase and and then. doing it. It remarkable. 39 years old. for him to get over 40 goals and do it. the way that he did it. And not only. that, but having the pressure of like. all the cameras and all the media. surrounding him in order to get it done, like he some people thought at his age. and maybe with the deterioration of how. old he was getting that he would have to. back into this record. No, man. He broke. his leg this year, played just over 60. games, and scored over 40 goals at 39. years old. It's remarkable. Uh he's the.

greatest goal scorer to ever exist. I. don't think anybody anybody ever thought. that they were going to say that. um. considering what Wayne Gretzky did when. he played. So remarkable and just a. perfect catalyst leading into playoffs. and what's been all the electrifying. entertainment. I loved the Wayneo and. Oie moments afterwards too and how Wayne. basically cuz it it it turned out to. also be a celebration of Wayne Gretzky's. greatness. I think I think a lot of. people that maybe didn't know or didn't. fully understand were either taught or. reminded about Wayne Gretzky and why.

this record was one that nobody thought. would ever be caught. And the fact that. Obie was able to do it, you're talking. about being hurt and then no not back. doororing his way in. He didn't even. want an empty neter. He said, "I don't. want to be on the ice for whenever they. pull the goalie." It's like he was. confident he was going to get there. And. uh we had a chance to chat with him. The. guy, I don't know if you saw it, he. introduced everybody on the team before. we started the conversation. Feels like. he is just like literally a lad of the. lads in the locker room, too. Perfect. NHL representative, I think. Right.

Unbelievable. The guy's a complete farm. animal. Like he drinks pop on the bench. eating Subway. Still doesn't care about. his diet, eats whatever. Uh ultimate. team guy. And and I'm sure most people. have seen these viral clips of him in. the hallway and when the guys come out, he's amping them up before they take. warm up. And uh Jacob Trick was one of. those offseason signings that they made. that has propelled this team and he wore. that headband. So he started singing the. bands make them dance and next thing you. know they got Juicy Jay in the hallway.

So, uh, just the ultimate competitor and. I couldn't be happier for the guy and. and also an incredible ambassador for. the league. And you you also mentioned. it like like Wayne getting to be a part. of that handoff. Like Wayne is like the. ultimate team guy and uh just an. incredible guy to be around and I'm so. blessed that I've been getting gotten to. know him through my course of my job at. TNT and that's everything that he's. about. And when he passed Gordy How, that's exactly the way that Gordy How. handed it off to him, including Gordy.

How's wife giving Janet a present and a. gift to also com commemorate her. And. then Janet followed up by giving Oie's. wife a gift as well on the ice. So. that's really what the hockey community. is about. So, the fact that they were. able to stop the game and have that. in-game ceremony and for it to go as. good as it did, it was just remarkable. and it it says everything that needs to. be said about the league and and and. what it's about. Hell yeah. Hockey did. it right. I think it did it right. That. whole wife exchanging of gifts, I did.

not know that. This is my first time. learning that. Hockey, as you're saying. it, I'm like, hockeyy's so different, man. It's just like such a perfect. culture. The playoffs are electrifying. Tom Wilson quick because there's a. there's a guy named Kyle Vandenbosh that. used to play for the Lions Titans and. this guy played DN and I talking to. offensive players that were on my team. They were always aware of which where. this guy was. He played harder than. anybody and was going to take your head. off and probably take it home with him. if he could after the game. Like what. kind of presence does Tom Wilson have on.

the other team? Like you said, like a. series changing hit that he had. Like. when you have a guy like that on your. team, how does the other team view it? And is everybody always thinking, "Hey. man, eyes up. You always have to know if. this dude is on the ice. You nailed it. At a certain point when you come into. the league, guys like that, it's like, "Hey boys, heads up. This guy, he he. he's going to run you run you through. the end wall." But at this point, everybody's aware of who Tom Wilson is. and what he brings to the lineup. So, especially for defenseman where he's. forchecking game in game out, you got to.

help your partner out. And most the guys. on the opposing bench the minute he. steps on the ice are telling and yelling. at the guys like heads up this freight. train is coming through. And what's. amazing, look at him. He has to feel so. cool coming on the ice and the other. team being like, "Yo, yo, big dog's on. the ice right now. Heads up. Heads up.". He has to feel like a like an absolute. dog out there as soon as he gets on. And. he fought on the bench, didn't he? Yeah. This weekend. Oh, he that was game. three. Maple Leaf. Uh the media can get very. negative and nasty, but this is a group. that brought in brought in uh Chief. Craig Bub as a head coach who's a proven. not only player uh but retired, won a. Stanley Cup as a head coach with the St. Louis Blues, turn that team and. organization around in order to hoist.

their first ever Stanley Cup. And I. believe this is a different group that. can ignore the outside noise and get the. job done with the superstars that they. have. A lot of chatter about the Maple. Leafs up there in Canada. No. So, you. got to be built for it, you know, just. like you got to be built to play down in. Dallas for Jerry. Now, let's go down to. Florida. What's. going on in this series? You still have. my Panthers coming out and can the. Panthers go on a run to win it back to. back? So, as far as the game play is. concerned, I would say it's a been a. little bit underwhelming. Uh but things.

definitely heated up in game two after. that hit that Hegel ended up I mean this. isn't boring but uh the the game play. has been but um after game two yeah that. Hegel hit on Barkov now people deemed it. very dirty uh he did get a game. suspension but a lot of people don't. realize like Barkov is such a good 200t. centerman so I think on the play right. here Hegel thinks that Bararkov knocks. the puck off of Mcdana's stick and. that's why he delivers the hit. That's. why you see Hegel being like, "What's.

up? Why'd you call that?" So, you see. right there, it looked like Bararkov. lifted up Mcdana's stick and knocked it. away, which would deem it a legal hit. But he didn't touch it. So, it's. interference. And based on the gravity. of how hard he hit him and the fact that. it was a bit of a blind side, they gave. him a game. Well, fast forward to game. three. Obviously, things got out of hand. where the score was about 451 at the. time. Tampa's up. They put the empty. netter in and after Jake Gensel delivers. that pass over to his teammate, Matthew.

Kachchuck changes his angle, goes in and. drills him about a second late. Matthew. Kachchuck's not going to get suspended. for it. I don't think the hit was as. hard, but clearly Matthew Kachchuck knew. what he was doing. Eye for an eye. I. expect this series to amplify way more. after that happened in game three. And. now you even got the coaches going at it. in the media, Paul Maurice and John. Cooper. We knew Coach Mo would get in. there. Yeah. He's not scared to joust a. little bit if need be. But in these.

serieses, especially in hockey, and I. know basketball the same way. Like we. saw Aunt LeBron pushing each other or. whatever. You're playing the same people. here, you know, and uh it's the highest. of stakes. In playoff hockey is the. fastest of hockey. I I mean, just like. in football, preseason has a speed, regular season has a speed, playoffs has. a speed. Hockey very much like that. And. also all the teams that are in the. playoffs, very fast teams. So whenever. you talk about high speed, high pace, there's a lot of action. There's a lot. of collisions. There's a lot of. potential beefs that could brew in a. sport that allows fighting. So I.

couldn't imagine waiting for two days. knowing that, okay, I got to either get. back. I got to get back or I got to get. back coming. Uh that's why hockeyy's. different, man. That's why hockeyy's. different. So a little advice to you. young hockey players out there. Don't. admire your past the way that Jake. Gensel was here. But clearly Matthew. Kachchuck knows what he was doing and. this is a late hit. And afterward by the. bench, Kachchuck's trolling him saying, "Yeah, keep your [ __ ] head up." And. yeah, that has to happen. But he knew.

what he was doing. This was retribution. for the hit on Barkov. And it's game on. now. 2-1 series. And uh things should. get very, very interesting in Florida in. game four. But if you look at all of the playoff. rosters of teams in the states who have. won the Stanley Cup, most of the people. on those teams are Canadians. I would. say if you put the full list of. percentage, I would say it would be. about 40 to 45% of Canadian players on. those American teams. So I don't know. what type of tariffs we're getting. charged or we're going to charge you for. those players. But the reason that. America is able to lift the Stanley Cup. is because of the hand. See, you guys. want a piece of the cup? You want a. piece of the cup, huh? A little tariff.

Uh uh um Czech, Slovakia, um Sweden, Sweden, Finland, US, Canada, and I don't. know who else would be in the mix there. I don't know if they finished the. qualifiers. Usually there's a there's a. few other uh uh Scandinavian teams in.

the mix there, but the the the big the. big countries are usually Russia, Sweden, Finland, Canada, and US of. course. And uh Slovakia and Czech not. too far behind. Okay. And if Russians. can't play, obviously Ovetchkin lived in. Washington DC for how long? He's. basically a. politician much influence too. I I think. there's a chance. We have we have an. angle there. Anyways, let's move along. Speaking of. that particular thing, but in a much. less serious way whenever it comes to a. profession. AP Tone has a question for. you about change in Pittsburgh. Yeah, Biz. Uh two-time Stanley Cup champion. backto back for the Pittsburgh Penguins. I believe in 1617. Mike Sullivan and the. Penguins departed or um decided to part. ways today. U did you feel like that was.

necessary just like a obviously Mike. Sullivan's still a great coach, but you. know, he's been there for so long and. the team hasn't done great lately. Do. you feel this was necessary? Um I feel like it was a situation where. I don't think Pittsburgh's going to win. anytime soon. Uh regardless of having. Sydney Crosby on the roster, which is is. obviously depressing to me. Uh, I hope. that he has an opportunity to play more. playoff hockey and hoist another Stanley. Cup, but also uh that there's so many. coaching vacancies and probably a few.

teams that need coaches that are a. little bit more Stanley Cup ready and. the simple fact that this guy is going. to probably get a massive payday. Uh, the New York Rangers need a head coach. Uh, I wouldn't be shocked if they threw. six to 7 million per season at Mike. Sullivan. I think the resume speaks for. itself. Uh, I think it's a a little bit. crazy to pay a head coach in the. National Hockey League that much money. Um, it's not like football. It's not. like football, right? Like football like. you can win and lose games a lot by.

coaching with set plays and you know how. how it's played. Hockey there's only so. much structure. Once the shift starts, the shift starts and you know there's. only so many for checks. There's only so. many uh, you know, par power power play. setups. It has a lot to do more with the. players on the ice than it does. coaching. That's not taken away from the. coaches. It just seems a lot of seems. like a lot of money for an NHL head. coach. And the fact that there's what. eight or nine vacancies current. currently, they turn him over like. crazy. So, I think that the Rangers are.

going to offer him the bag. He could. potentially head back to Boston. Um he. uh I believe he's related to Charlie. Makavoy to some degree. Um so maybe that. makes a little sense as well. and and. Sweeney and Neely are in a little bit of. desperation mode given the fact that. Boston had a very very difficult season. including some tough offseason signing. So um yeah I I I think this makes a lot. of sense and I think that he's going to. get an absolute bag now. Sullivan.

Makavoy Swely Neely sounds like the con. potentially happening. Uh wonderful. thing. Who are the Pens going to hire. and are we going to win the Stanley Cup. or what's about to happen? I'm at the uh. GM uh what's the name of GM? Kyle Kyle. Dubis. Kyle Dubis. Kyle Dubis. I am. impressed by Kyle Dubis. Obviously, I. think he's either younger than me or. same age as me. I met him whenever we. went back to Pittsburgh. Had a nice. trench coat on. Had a nice trench coat. on. Had a good I think he had a uh maybe.

he's buttoned up. Little bit of a scarf. Yeah, he looks really good. Yeah, he's. buttoned up. Hands in pocket. Good. handshake. Good conversation. I think I. think the book's still out on on Dubis. and what he can do with that. organization. I think that like Well, why you say wow? What do you mean? Like. what? Like I don't know Stanley Cup. It. seemed like when you said the book's. still out, it seemed like the book's out. for you. You don't like Dubis. No, I Well, you're trying to make it. personal. It's not personal. I'm just. staying as far as his GM qualities. I.

mean, personal sad little. this early into his tenure to say this. I feel like the minute I hopped on this. thing, you guys have just tried to stir. the pot. You've tried trading Sid from. the Pens for the last two years. Oh, yeah. Remember that? Sydney Crosby. Few. more years. Cuz he's wasting away his. final years there. What are you talking. about? Sounds like he's the only guy on. that team that deserves to hoist another. Stanley Cup. And everybody else, Gina. don't deserve it. Gino and Latanganger. don't deserve it. Well, I think that. Gino needs to bring a little bit more to.

the table if he wants to hoist the. Stanley Cup. I love Gino. I love Gino, too, but he ain't playing at Sid's level. right now. Well, Sid's playing at a. level that he's very we have to turn. over the team, I believe. Right. That's. what is about to happen. I you you guys. Pittsburgh doesn't have many prospects. in their system. They're going to have. to do a complete overhaul. The only. positive news, and that's why I said the. book sell out on Kyle Dubis before you. interrupt me and started stirring the. pot, is I believe they have $26 million. in salary cap space for this off.

seasonason. Well, you better get signing. contracts and you better find yourself a. new head coach. Jeez, we got four head. coaches if we wanted from your math was. six or seven million in this entire. thing. Uh well, they don't count against. the cap. You got to spend that on. players. How much how much money is a. good player? How much is a I know Sydney. Crosby signed for 8.7 million or. something like that. So there there. there aren't a ton of good available. free agents this off season. Like now. because of how how the league is like. not a lot of them are even get to that.

point. Like one that probably sticks out. is Mitch Marner hasn't signed yet. He's. a Toronto Maple Leaf. Kyle Dubis loves. Mitch Mner. He was with him in Toronto. Um there's a little hostility between. the Maple Leafs and MNER based on the. fact that they try to trade him at the. deadline for Mo Rotten who was available. and they were willing to part ways with. Mitch Martner even though he had a 100. point season. He's had a few 90 99 point. seasons in the past chip on his. shoulder. Dubis ain't doing well. He's. Dubis. As far as far as Mitch Martner is.

concerned, he hasn't. Just like the. book's still out on Dubis as a GM, the. book's still out on Mitch Mner as far as. playoff performance. He's had a great. start to this year. Things get harder as. you progress through the second and. third round, but he's a guy that's going. to command probably $14 million on the. open market. We got 26. Yeah, but are. you going to Hey, are you going to bust. your nut on one guy or are you going to. spread it around the lineup? Well, that's got to bring Hazy back.

We just need We just had him on the. podcast. I love I love Hayes. I I I was. uh privy to him negotiating his contract. right in front of me. He was trying to. negotiate an extension, I do believe, right in front of me. What a beauty that. guy is. He was awesome. He got hit in. the toe with uh Chris Leang's shot, too. So, he was limping his ass around the uh. complex for us. He was so kind, so cool. Everybody was so nice to us over there. I would like to see them get good again. I would like to see them get good again. It's a lot more fun when the Penguins. are good. You know, for me, I think I.

think it's going to take them at least. 2, three years to get good again. I'd be. shocked if they made playoffs next year, unless they do like what Washington did. in the offseason and have a complete uh. uh home run as far as free agent. signings. If Mitch Mner ends up there. and you're paying him 14 million and all. of a sudden all you have is 12 left. over, like it's hard to address other. areas. And that's what me makes the the. the league so good in the NHL is the. parody. You only have so much money to. spend. There's a hard cap. You can't get. around it. And uh yeah, you need to.

address a lot of positions, not just. having a guy who's a 100 point go. scorer. Dubis signed a seven-year deal. He signed a big ticket, seven times, I. believe, six and a half, maybe close to. $7 million for a GM who's never hoisted. a Stanley Cup. You guys act you guys act. like I'm hating. It's just like when you. get a big ticket like that, there's a. lot of pressure that comes with that and. he's got to prove it. I think Kyle Dubis. will do that. And what about Shanahan?

Does he get a pass all the time, Biz? Um, I think that if they don't go far. this year that that that his names came. up like I like Shanny like he he he's. also a proven player. Like he's won a. Stanley Cup as a player course and he. has that experience. So, um I think he's. done a solid job. The issue, the major. issue I had with the Toronto Maple Leafs. management over the last like five, six. years is they they signed those guys to.

ridiculous deals when they were. restricted. So they just handed over the. bags to their core four where once. again, you need to snap the money around. and when you're a restricted free agent, you don't have all the leverage. You do. when you go to free agency when you're. not restricted. But they got bent over. in negotiations, gave all these young. guys all this money who hadn't proved. anything in playoffs, and that put them. behind the eightball. Well, fast forward. to now, they have their contracts, they. got their money. Well, kind of get the. [ __ ] job done now. Yeah, it it is.

time. Who's going to win Stanley Cup? If you held a gun to my head and you. said, it's not that big of a deal, but. we would like to knife to your throat. We would We would like to know an. answer, though. We would like to know an. answer. I like the West. uh Colorado and. the West after watching that last game, they looked lethal against the Stars, but those two teams, them and Dallas, could each win the Stanley Cup. Like, that's a juggernaut of a first round. matchup. And then going to the East, I'm. sticking with my Leafs. I know that. Florida's got a heck of a wagon there,

but I got to go with my Toronto Maple. Leafs. So, um it's going to be a heck of. a playoff, boys. And I don't know if you. guys have talked much about this land. Landiskog situation and the fact that. he'd uh he'd had to sit out for um over. a thousand days it'd been he's the. captain of the Colorado Avalanche and he. had a a laceration near his knee uh in. playoffs and then it ended up escalating. to the point where he needed. reconstructive knee surgery. Uh he. thought his career was going to be over.

He documented the entire rehabilitation. process over the last three years and it. had been a mental grind. This is one of. the best stories in all of sports right. now. And finally, um, a few nights ago, 1,040 days, he scores his first goal. back in the NHL in playoffs in game four. against Dallas. Unbelievable. That's a. wonderful story. Yeah, I didn't not a. lot of people were talking about it at. all. Is this the goal right here? I. assume that's the goal right there. and. just the amazing energy in the building, the jubilation. And as soon as they pan.

up to the crowd after this, there's a. guy in Atlantis jersey right there. making out with his girlfriend who has a. McKinnon girlfriend. So, or McKinnon. jersey, excuse me. So, just that the. timing of it all, it's such an. incredible story and he's an. unbelievable human being. So, uh it it. was just amazing to see an incredible. hockey in the story, a story in the. hockey world, excuse me. Hey, thanks for. telling that here. I'm appreciative to. get that message and that story out. Maybe a team to pull for if you don't. have a team in the hunt anymore. Now,

for me, Pittsburgh Penguins fan, I'm not. pull for anybody until Pittsburgh. Penguins are back next year. Oh, yeah. Okay. Cuz Dubis, but uh I like the. Capitals a lot. I like the Capitals a. lot just strictly because Oie came on. the show. He was so cool. I have no He. was unreal with you guys. He was so uh. so candid. And I love how he introduced. all the boys. know how it came together. It came out. of Foss sent me a text like Ovetkin on. the show next week. I'm like how yes we. would love that. You were very fortunate. Pat like not many people get to see that. candid side ovie. You do get to see it. when he's in the tunnel with his. teammates and these small glimpses of it. but the fact that you got to be on the. PJ with the with the whole squad like. that was a a very cool moment. And like. after our career was over, we we ended. up joining up on the podcast spitting. chicklets that uh Rear Admiral Mike. Grenell and and Whit were already on. And uh yeah, we we kind of rekindled and. it's been an incredible ride. And you. know, we like to kind of get do other. things outside of just talking hockey. and we started doing these sandbagger. golf matches because he's a golf junkie. and um when he retired he got really. hooked and he's basically a scratch. golfer. His game has regressed a little. bit since he's had three kids. Got it.

You know, I think we all know when you. have kids, your life's pretty much over. or at least your golf game is unless. you're on the tour. But uh yeah, we've. we've gotten we've dipped into the golf. world and uh and then did a few. collaborations with the Bob Does Guys. And I play goalie. every once in a while if I had to.

because somebody has to play goalie. where none of us are gonna have a good. time here. Okay? We are not going to be. able to compete if nobody plays goalie. here. There's the photo that was put. up during big night out of my house. actually had a uh piping go hockey goal. right on the garage and I would assume. that there would be uh top windows. busted there, you know, cuz sometimes.

that thing gets a little little out of. control away from you. But I never knew. the players really, you know, you knew. the game, you knew the sport, never knew. the players. biz I think really started. opening up the world to what the hockey. guys are like and hockey culture is like. from those that are not in it and it's. like what a culture old school still. fight everybody's got to have a work. ethic you know it's exhausting got to be. every old guy they have every old stud. that comes on their show are like. they're the best interviews the dudes. are so honest and just so just tough. they just yeah just like what do you.

call it salt of the earth guys like they. just they have it figured out they have. a lot of awareness it seems like and. they like to have a good time yeah and. they all drink kind beer with us. They had a stadium that was falling. apart. Poop pipes were bursting on their.

own fans. People would pay 75 bucks to. go watch the Washington football team. lose in a football game where the. weather was terrible and spend four. hours there and while they were walking. out, poop pipes would burst right on. their head. So, not only did the team. play like [ __ ] but they got drenched. and [ __ ] on the way out. Then there. would be times where teams would be. walking out of the tunnel and the. barricades that would be holding people. up from the stadium area down to the. tunnel area would just bust and people's. heads would get squashed and maybe next. possibly broken. This was a falling. apart stadium for a long time. But with.

the previous owner, nobody wanted to. give them money or do business with. them. Josh Harris comes in, starts. shaking hands. There's going to be a. stadium in Virginia. They're going to. own everything around it. Now they're. headed back to downtown Washington DC, the heart of the nation's capital where. I. believe they were great whenever they. played. Yes. So congrats to the. Washington Commanders going back. downtown DC getting a deal done and I. assume financing for a Washington.

Commander team. And if you're a. Commander fan, like you have to think to. yourself, wow, life is so much better. All of a sudden we're liked. All of a. sudden we're good. All of a sudden, the. future looks bright and all of a sudden. we're returning back to our roots. whenever we were good at RFK. So, congratulations to Commanders fans. having a much different life now than. they had two years ago before Josh. Harris, Magic. Johnson, a crew. Mhm. By the Washington. team. What a change in culture, AJ. What. a change in everything. It's a. completely different world for for this.

through and see the city. And the fact. that it's back downtown DC, I think. Washington is a proper name for it, you. know, because if they were moved to any. of the DMV area, the MV of the area, I. think, you know, would you change it to. Virginia or change it to the area that. you're around? We all know the San uh. San Francisco 49ers are in Santa Clara, but now the Washington Commanders in DC. with a new stadium that ain't going to. have poop pipes burst. Good news. Mason. Kennahan put out a tweet. fan experience at training camp. You. remember what it used to be like? Yes. New stadium naming rights deal worth 7.5. million annually fees. Rebuilt the. entire front office and coaching staff. It's like life is good as a.

Everything about it. is better. Everything about it is. better. The seats are better. The food's. better. The experience is better. the. lines, the bathrooms are better because. they figure out human flow over the last.

60 years since the last time this. stadium was built or whatever it is. New. stadium is nice. Old stadium's tough, tough, tough. But this team tough as. well as flashy. Jaden Daniels got it. all. We saw Bryce Young. bounce back, you know, show some. resilience, get back in there, play some. of his best football in the second half. of the season, and then you draft, you. know, T-Mac, which there was a lot of. question marks going uh into the draft. about him, but no question marks about. his talent. So getting a big uh dynamic. talent like that to be out there as well. like that that Hunter Refro you know. this let's see if he can get back. It. was not a few years ago he was in the. debate for the best one of the best slot. wide receivers in the National Football. League took a year off. A lot of times.

guys don't necessarily come back um you. know playing their best ball. But let's. see if he can get to it. Hey what. happened on that Sunday morning show? Which one? What was going on?
