assist. >> The alltime leading tackler for the. Green Bay Packers. You pick. [screaming]. >> stutter. Damn it. >> Your friend tell a friend something nice. could change their life. Hello, beautiful people and welcome to a. magnificent, [music]. fantastic feelgood Friday, October 23rd, 2026. This sports program begins right. now.
Football. >> is the greatest in football is the. reason why I'm here in this beautiful. Salt Lake City for the Utah youth. hosting the Houston Cougs as the points. are in abundance and electricity is. certainly going to rattle through this. beautiful state yet again. Utah favored. by seven. Are they going to be able to. continue to roll when firstear head. coach Morgan Scy who's been in Utah. since 2007 played here loves this place. When Whittingham gets the gig over at. Michigan, who's going to take over?
Well, they bring in a defensive. coordinator to lead this group, and they. haven't missed a single beat. And then. on the other side, Willie Fritz. This. dude wins everywhere he goes. The Big 12. is all of a sudden becoming not only. electrifying, but a uh title contending. conference. Number 14 and number 10 take. each other on. Only one loss between the. two of them. And whenever you talk about. what can happen, anything. Are these two. teams going to be vying for a college. football playoff spot? Are these two. teams potentially going to win the. national championship?
Nobody knows. Football is a funny thing. Just like college football, the NFL has. had ridiculous parody. We've had. phenomenal storylines. Last night, week. seven of the NFL season kicked off in. magnificent fashion. Caleb Williams, this man's the next one. Whenever he was. coming out of USC after transferring. from Oklahoma, this man was being talked. about as a generational talent. I. remember uh there was a bunch of drama. coming out, you know, like his dad was. saying this, he wanted a percentage of a. team if he was going to a place. All. this fake misinformation, potentially.
partial truth coming out about this. Caleb Williams character who wasn't able. to really win a lot of games in college, wasn't able to win a title for USC, wasn't able to win a title for Oklahoma, was able to win a Heisman, but is this. guy going to be an actual guy in the. NFL? He painted his nails. He obviously. did some modeling. He had a finance fund. already before he gets to the NFL. There. was a lot of questions on whether or not. Caleb could become a pro by people that. didn't know him. And all Caleb wanted to. tell people is I just want to be great. I think he has a picture of all Tom.
Brady's accomplishments and his. background of his iPhone. This guy has. remained committed to becoming a goat. Now, there was the hamstring injury. earlier this season. We thought maybe. that was going to knock him off track. because of what he and Ben Johnson were. going to try to cook up this season. Then Case Keenum comes in, Tyson Bean. comes in, and I think Caleb Williams got. a chance to sit back, watch the Ben. Johnson offense operate, kind of see it. from a different perspective because he. had an injury, much like what Bryce. Young was able to do in Carolina. whenever he got benched for Andy Dalton. Different perspective, no pressure on me.
right now. Let me get healthy and when I. come back, I'm going to operate in full. form. And that is exactly what Caleb. Williams is doing right now. A lot of. the conversation is going to be about. how he's operating within Ben Johnson's. system, which I think everybody's been. asking if he could do since Ben Johnson. arrived last year. Well, I think he has. If you look at his rush yards pre-. hamstring, I think he was up over 100. yards in two games. Now he's under 20 in. two games. He's sitting in the pocket. He's finding the players that are wide. open and and when he has to make magic, he can roll out of the pocket, flip his.
hips this way, do a a look at this. Look. at this [ __ ] I don't know how you do. it. I don't know how you do it. That is. why everybody was talking about him as a. generational player and his arm talent. Absurd. And then on the other side, Drake May. Drake May and this New. England Patriots team have played much. better this later part of the early. season here. And Drake May certainly had. a good night last night. AJ Brown gets. back into it. Raandre Stevenson has been. the weapon for the Patriots over the. last couple years that you could depend. on, especially whenever he's on the. field as opposed to not on the field.
Boston Connor walks out of Thursday. Night Football with an L to the Chicago. Bears, just like Kendrick Perkins kind. of told him was going to happen. They. don't cover, but I do know this. This. could be a preview. And I've said it. yesterday, and I know some people mocked. me, especially the man that I'm about to. introduce. We could be seeing these two. guys play each other on the biggest. stage for the next 10 to 15 years. And I. think we would all welcome that. I think. we'd all be appreciative of the talent. I think we'd all be appreciative of what. the future of the NFL holds. If these. two guys, Drake and Caleb, can remain.
healthy and their teams, Vrabel, Ben. Johnson, we both have massive respect. for these guys. If they can continue to, you know, put rosters around them, Chicago and New England are in a great. spot for another 20 years. And I think. we all just have to kind of understand. and realize that after a fantastic. Thursday night. Now, it's not just me. here blabbering in Salt Lake City. Look. at those mountains, by the way. >> So nice. >> Beautiful. >> I think these would be rolling hills, maybe. I don't know if these are. necessarily mountains just yet. I don't. know. topography as well as I should. even though I'm living out in Utah now.
seemingly. Uh but it's a blast here back. in Indianapolis. The boys in the. Thunderdome. You got a college football. national champion, Super Bowl champion, Ryder Cup winner, AJ Hawk. >> Hong. Jeez. >> Lot of red Brightly just popped off the. screen. I just saw myself for the first. time on screen. This is good. >> Yeah. I I don't think I fully expected. um you to just be this big of an Ohio. State home. >> This is just a red This is just a red. qzip. It's Ohio State. [laughter]. Yeah, but I I I I love it. I want to let. you know and we find out how much you. love Ohio State whenever we're.
incredibly lucky to do a a field pass. for the college football playoffs and. Ohio State's down at halftime. Talks the. table I bought to Carter and Ty Schmid. Do you remember AJ at halftime in that. game? We forget how much he is obsessed. with the Ohio State Buckeyes. I think. Con man. >> Yeah, he absolutely loves him. I don't. know if he would know who he was if it. wasn't for the Ohio State Buckeyes. But. yeah, I remember Gumpy kind of getting. into it with Hako because it was verse. Miami. And AJ, I don't know if I've ever. seen him so pissed just to be talking.
about Ohio State losing and to be uh. filmed while that was happening. If you. remember, he also said he did not. consent to Foxy filming him then. >> Yeah, he did not consent to filming. then, but he does now. Thank you for. that, AJ. We appreciate it. What did you. see last night? And you know, whenever I. mentioned uh Super Bowl matchup between. the Patriots and the Bears being the. next 10 to 15 years, you said the Bears. Are we going to talk about the Bears. really? Because the Bears have been an. organization that have been, you know, kind of cursed or uh not the best for a. long long time. Huge city, huge football.
town, massive massive epicenter of uh. magic if it could become another, you. know, prolific franchise in the NFL. Caleb Williams might be the guy. And Ben. Johnson is a freak. AJ, I know you're. the all-time leading tackler for the. Packers, but it feels like this Bears. team is going to be good. They were able. to win with Case. They were able to win. with Tai. Now, they weren't able to. continue because they're backup. quarterbacks. That's how that goes. But. if you're if you're able to win whenever.
the most important position goes down, which they are, which might happen every. season if it does. I mean, a lot of. quarterbacks go down for a few games. The Chicago Bears are a wagon age, and I. don't think that's stopping. I I I think. we're just beginning this entire thing, AJ. >> Yeah, I think uh you are you are correct. there. I think Caleb last night, what. was impressive to me like he we always. talk about, hey, you got to make him. throw from the well, make him throw from. the pocket. Don't let him get outside. and do everything. I think last night we. got to see a little bit of all of his. skill set. He's sitting here like right. here in the pocket, ripping the ball.
across the middle, and then when he. needed to, he's able to use his legs, buy some time, and make throws that, you. know, honestly, a lot of quarterbacks in. the NFL probably cannot throw. Like you. said, you're you're rolling out to your. left, square up, get your shoulder. square, fire that ball. Love when later. in the thing. And right here, obviously, this is just unbelievable blocking. downfield. As a as a fan of football, I. love seeing these guys out front. blocking for Luther Burton. And uh this. Bears team, especially the offense, they. are absolutely rolling right now. I. mean, this is ridiculous play right here. when you think about just what he's able.
to do and how frustrating that would be. as a defense. Third and two and all of a. sudden he scramles for three and a half. and breaks your back and then keeps the. thing going. So, great night for the. Bears. I mean, honestly though, the the. Patriots didn't play bad. This was a fun. game to watch, especially going into. half when uh Stevenson takes that in. with basically a walk-off uh touchdown. going into halftime to make this thing, think about it, going into halftime 20. to7. That feels a lot worse than going. in 20 to 14. So, this thing made it. interesting, I think, for everybody. And. it was uh a fun game to watch. I think.
both these teams are going to go far. Well, especially after the Drake May red. zone turnover, you have that to kind of. save scoreboard and continue momentum. going into second half. And it did. become a thriller, you know, as we get a. little KY down the stretch. I watched. this late last night cuz I had the. incredible opportunity uh to be a part. of a movie premiere out here for the. Mosquito Bowl. It was such a wild. experience, but I was watching this game. late night last, like very late last. night on the plane over. Man, I love.
where the NFL is at. >> and and I love I I mean Cairo saying, "Let me give me it. Let me go do this.". 58 yards, 135 left. And Kirk Herbry. pointed out in real time. It was a great. call. If he misses that, >> Drake May gets the ball at the 48 right. there. I I mean down six, keep it or. down three, keep it moving. How you. doing? Drake May goes and wins that. game. We have like a maybe a pillar. moment for Drake May's MVP case at the. end of the season on Thursday Night. Football. remember when he did this. instead. Kairo Santos has never hit a.
ball this far. This stadium has never. really had it from a Chicago Bears. kicker and he knocks it through. I mean, that's just the Ben Johnson mindset, I. think, oozing through the entire locker. room. And he's going to hit a little. stanky leg and good, better, best. Never. let it rest till your good is better. Hey, and you see how much the boys love him. and have rallied around him. We know. he's an attention to detail guy. We know. he's an accountability guy. We know he's. a standard guy. In our life, that has. always worked in football and in every. other bucket. So, if you're able to get.
that culture instilled and now that. becomes the expectation, I think you're. in a good spot with the humans that come. in there, whether they've been Bears or. not before, I think they just buy in to. what you're trying to do. And also, Ty. Schmidt, Ben Johnson, offense. coordinator, Dennis Allen's not going. anywhere, right? I don't think I don't I. don't think he's going to go anywhere. those two as a one-two punch with the. absolute chaos the defense can bring and. then the [ __ ] that Ben Johnson uh can. cook up whenever we say 15 20 30 years. that's a very real thing I think we're.
all realizing and acknowledging in real. time is that accurate Ty Schmidt owner. of the Green Bay Packers. >> yeah without a doubt I mean and you know. you just both of these guys like Dennis. Allen we've kind of seen what he's been. as a head coach I think he is smart. enough to maybe recognize right now how. good of a position he's in with Ben. Johnson. But at the end of the day, it. comes back to Ben Johnson and Caleb. Like Caleb, you know, if he can stay. healthy, he is going to be the face of. the league, you know, within the next 10. years or whatever. Like the passing out.
of the pocket, sure, but like those. plays, you know, where he has to. scramble and the unimprovised stuff like. he there are just very few maybe him and. Lamar are maybe like the only two guys. in the NFL that can do that. You feel. like you have him bottled up and it just. it never work. like every time they. needed a play last night, whether it was. third down or, you know, like second and. long or whatever it was, it seemed like. he was always finding someone and moving. the chains. So, yeah, I mean, as a. Packers fan, like you like where they're. at, but that division as a whole, it it.
it does feel like you can't really deny. it anymore. Like, the Bears have arrived. and if they can stay healthy, like they. are going to be here for a long time. >> Fun to watch. I like to see that city. come alive around football again. And. you know, with the passing of uh Mike. DKA this season, we got a chance to. relive Chicago in the glory days, you. know, cuz the amount of packages that. were put together, the amount of. highlights, the amount of commercials, the amount of dancing, the amount of. entertainment, the amount of dominance. that the Bears had way back, it feels.
like uh it looks different than it did. back then, but it might be mustsee TV. and it might end up in the damn Super. Bowl. Now, I know Zitto's pump victory. stakes late night last night. Uh, I. think all of Chicago should be excited. And boy, I wish we were in the position. that the Bears were in or the Patriots. were in or about 10 other teams that the. Indianapolis Colts sit in. We'll be. joined by an insider here in about 2. minutes. But before we get to that, we. got to go to one half of the hammer. Dad, >> Cowboys AP Tone. Hey Tone, riddle me.
this. I was trading. Okay, so. >> that's awesome. >> Me and Gumps woke up, checked the trade. markets. very similar to the sportsbook. operation. Log in, it's all there. I I. thought it was was going to be vastly. different. I thought I was going to have. to uh utilize brain parts that I've. never used before, especially saying. that I'm trading. Instead, DraftKings. best sports book on earth. If you're of. age, coast to coast, you can come join. us there. Uh just if you agree to gamble. responsibly and it felt like last night. the responsible thing was to ride.
alongside our air parents boost. Look. who's back hitting minus 160s for the. team. I'm sorry. Plus 100 for the team. Go ahead and cash it, Tone. I felt good. about this early. A little KG affair, but it felt like they were able to spin. it. The 50 uh and a half overunder, even. though it started out very slow, >> uh that told us that as I'm watching. him, I'm like, "Oh, the offense is going. to be able to move." Sports books. thought that the offense is going to be. able to move. Caleb and Drake show up. for us. Tone, anything else that hit. last night other than our boost, which.
we need to celebrate a little bit? >> Yeah, the boost hit. Uh that's our. second time this year that we've had uh. the quarterbacks for each team go over. We are 2 and 0 when we do that. situation. So think we should remember. that moving forward. We're four and. three on the season for the boost. So. Oh, I don't know. That's a winning. record. Shut up. Uh we should be 5-2 if. the Lions would just run it on the goal. line. >> Well done. Remember, we decided we're. not going to get angry at these people. that get angry at. We're just going to. say we understand. Well, I thought we.
had a group convers. It might have just. been me and said, I thought our angle. was going to be just like when the New. York Times and stuff says stuff. We're. going to be like, "We understand why you. feel that way. We completely comprehend. that type of feeling cuz we have that. towards you in a lot of different times. We understand how you could feel that. towards us. We don't want to lose. We'd. like to win." But boy, it was nice to. get a dub with how hot it was getting in. the streets on our particular booth. Yeah, it it was nice to get the dub, you. know, even though we have a winning. record on the year in that situation. Uh.
but other than that, uh it did go over. Uh it was heavily trending under until. you get two touchdowns in the last. minute of the first half. Uh so if. you're an under better, that one really. sucked for you. The Bears win and cover, ending the streak of 10 straight dogs on. prime time covering in that situation. Um, so yeah, it was a big night for the. gamblers, especially if you had were on. the favorites and the over, which you. know is a general situation that. gamblers are on. Um, but when you look. at it like Caleb was absurd, like you.
guys talked about it, his moving in the. pocket, like it it's insane how well, and I think it actually helped him to. your point having the hamstring injury. because he's doing it less and he's. looking to throw more with the moving in. the pocket. Him doing that is just. insane. Drake doing the same exact. thing. Looking great. So yeah, overall a. great game for the quarterbacks, a great. game for us, a great game for the over. betterers and the favorites. So yeah, overall very very good. >> I uh I appreciate it. Thursday Night. Football. We had an injury last night at. the tight end position. Uh let's bring.
in an expert, shall we? Um junior NFL. insider for ESPN and NFL Network. And. I'll tell you, if he got to work in. those studios down there, uh, by sofi at. all, he certainly would enjoy the hell. out of his life. Uh, ladies and. gentlemen, it's time for a weekly wrap. up with Rap Sheet and Friends, us being. a friends, he being rap sheet, Ian. Rapore, baby, >> what's up? What's going on, Rap? You. ever go out to those studios out there. next to SoFi?
>> Uh, sure do. I was out there the first. three Sundays of the season, and I'm. going out there in November to do game. day mornings. Pretty sweet, right? Sweet, right? >> Yeah, pretty sweet. I I I'd say I'd say. that is maybe the most beautiful set of. studios I've ever seen in my life. Every. toilet I can't stop saying it. Every. toilet's a bedet. Like, but if that's. how. >> it's what you want it to be. Now, did. you did you pay attention to like. there's like a little playbook for how. to use it? It's. >> tough to figure out a minute, but once.
you do, it's pretty nice. >> I like that kind of having to dabble. while you're sitting down on what's. going to be dabbling with the rear end. there. the hinden. Yeah, if that's how. they're treating the [ __ ] though, you just got to think about everything. else. It is wonderful. Okay, let's get. back to last night. Cole KT obviously. injury everybody says doesn't look good. Do we have any updates there? And um. >> uh yeah, any other conversation coming. out of a great Thursday night football. game rap? >> Yeah, bad injury for Cole KD. If you. watch it closely, I know he got. contacted hitting the knee basically, but it was really a non-cont injury. You.
could see his knee buckle right before. the hit. The belief is it is a serious. and season ending knee injury. He's. having an MRI. Actually has had an MRI. right now. Uh Ben Johnson's going to. talk to reporters later today, but. there's not a lot of optimism here. I. think at last night's game there's not a. lot of optimism either. It is likely. that he's going to miss the season and I. know they have Coulson Lin who is. excellent. Excellent. Um but they they. ran two tight ends a lot. This guy is. really good and a great human. This.
sucks for the Chicago Bears. >> It it certainly sucks. Lovelin got a. little bit more action. Ben Johnson will. be able to figure it out, but he loves. having great tight ends. So, we uh said. nothing but positive thoughts and. prayers to Cole KT and Godspeed in his. recovery. I was hoping we'd have no more. injuries. It seems like we will continue. that. Last question for me before the. boys will kind of hit you on a lot of. those. Indianapolis Colts. Okay, we fire. our general manager uh after last week's. loss to the Tennessee Titans who were. the number one team in the Shike. Division. So, and also in the AFC South,
they get their first win of the season. Their players still want more. Not happy. getting in the fights. Our team fires. general manager now. Quinton Nelson. saying, "I've had a great time here. I. have my wife here. I uh a lot of good. memories, a lot of good people here.". And then Jonathan Taylor saying, "Hey, I'm just focused on what's next here.". But we're hearing from you. We're. hearing from everybody. Everybody's. available. Who would be making these. decisions? And do you expect the Colts. to make wholesale changes in the next. week and a half before the trade. deadline?
>> Uh, so first of all, trade deadline this. year, it's a little further back than. usual. So it's I believe it's November. 9th. It's it's whatever the Tuesday. after the first week of November is. So. that's when the trade deadline is. So. still a little bit of time. My sense as. to where the Colts are is this. They got. a couple more games before they really. have to make the decision like, do we. trade these guys? They want to give. Shane Stiken the opportunity to see if. he can win games. If they win two, it's. like, okay, we're in the mix. It's still. out there. We'll see what happens. If. they lose two, then it's like, all.
right, this is we probably know which. way the season is going. Let's. capitalize on some of these really good. assets and maybe trade some guys. You. almost never see a fire cell ever. This. does remind me maybe of the Ron Rivera. commanders from three years ago where. you know they traded uh I believe it was. Montes Sweat and Tra and Chase Young in. the same day. I think that was right. And so it is possible we have seen it. and you know the co I thought it was.
crazy that the Colts decided not to. extend Quinton Nelson before the season. I didn't understand it at the time. Obviously, I think there's a lot of. things Chris Boward would like to have. back, but I imagine that's one of them. So, everyone's looking for guards. I. mean, he would be he would be one that I. think would make sense. Jonathan Taylor. would be one that would make sense. Um, DeForest Buckner is another one. Um, there's a lot of good players on the. Colts with expiring contracts that just. weren't locked up for whatever reason. So, like if they do a quote unquote fire.
sale, like they'll be able to get back. some real stuff. >> Okay, quick question. Those are all. really good players, but for some. reason, we haven't been able to win with. them. Whatever the case, I don't like. it. Uh, but we are going to suck for a. bit. Who are some of the names that are. in the general manager world? Will this. be something we have to wait and see to. see what head coach is available, what. the head coach wants to do? Like, how. forward thinking should we as Colts fans. be? Because Ed Dodd, I think he's gotten. some interviews other places, but I. don't think. >> I I mean, unless they win every game and.
go 13 and four here down the stretch and. somehow Ed Dods has been able to change. the culture into a winning one as. opposed to what it had been uh over the. last like 10 years is kind of a stagnant. in the middle ball ball club, which. maybe he does, maybe he is able to do. that. How how when are we thinking about. the next name that's coming to the. Colts? And is that even a realistic. thought if we don't know who the coach. is going to be? I think it's fair to say that the future. of Shane Styen is very much up in the. air. Like it would be look they go third. they go 11 and.
six 11 and six. >> then whatever it is if they go 11 and. six then I think Shane Stken probably. will come back. I have always thought. he's a good head coach. It's just he's. never really had that franchise. quarterback. He's never like it's been. frustrating to watch and I'm sure. there's a lot of things he would like to. have back too. like obviously um you. know obviously they they take Anthony. Richardson in the first round that was a. big bust and there's a lot of things. that have contributed to the frustration. but anyway to answer your question um I. would say you need to know what happens.
with the head coach first because what. you don't want to do is say this guy's. our general manager but we had the. opportunity to hire this great head. coach and now we can't because we hired. a GM. So I think you need to go into the. offseason being like we are open to. everything. We will probably need a new. general manager, but let's try to find. the best people we can have and figure. out who goes first. But like, you know, they don't have a first round pick. They. probably need a franchise quarterback.
Might be a bit. It might be a bit for. the Colts. >> We paid a lot for a franchise. quarterback. Okay. Daniel Jones is our. franchise quarterback. All right. And we. just need to understand it because. nobody's going to be trading for that. contract. So, Daniel Jones needs to. figure out how to play quarterback. Okay? That's what we need him to do. go. back to those first nine games. Anthony. Richardson got caught up with something. in um Indianapolis last week. It came. out this week. That's going to get. thrown away. Let's not even worry about. that. >> I'm not I am not trying to minim. minimize anything, but I did not know.
one could still be arrested for that. >> Yeah, Indiana's real do. That's why when. everybody's saying that I'm doing that. on my show, it's like, yeah, right. That's it's definitely sage. We're going. to get swatted at this place in Indiana. They just allowed cold beer on Sunday. like eight years ago. Okay, so let's uh. I'm here in Utah. I think [laughter] I. think we could probably do a similar. >> Man, I love entire. But on that note, [laughter]. >> yeah, >> at a baby rap, >> I still love cold beer. Um, okay. So, there was PBR. Remember there was PBR?
Pro Bowling uh rodeo. Nope. PBA, Pro. Bowling Association. Came to. Indianapolis. All right. One of their. bowlers. Guy was good, dude. This guy. had good could read the oil patterns. better than anybody. He was unbelievable. this guy. He was good. He got caught up. Similar situation here in car. Okay, there's full panic. I believe what ended. up happening was okay, let's uh let's do. some stuff. Let's figure it out. So, I. think the state of Indiana understands. like we are in a changing time. I.
brought it up to the governor whenever. he was letting us know that the Chicago. Bears are coming to Indiana. I brought. up to him like, "Hey, you know, uh, we're doing a lot of dancing and. celebrating about taking business from. Illinois or or being able to get. business from Illinois over here. Is. that for the potential hundreds of. millions of dollars that have traveled. to Illinois, to Michigan, to Kentucky, to Ohio, to all the states surrounding. us about uh, cannabis, you know, to do. that?" And there's a bunch of research. And he goes, you know, there is good. movement. We'll have to get we look into.
it or whatever. So, I I mean, there's a. chance that in the next turn of the. century or so that uh marijuana gets. legalized [laughter]. in the state of Indiana like it is in. all the states around Indiana. Uh yeah, here we go. This is me with the governor. on the show at the combine. Uh so, I I. have I've pushed for this pretty good. just strictly because I don't want to. get in a situation where the cops who. are uh good people uh feel forced to. arrest me because I have weed on me. So, Indiana is a place that I'm not, you.
know, I travel to and from. I'm always. super smart about it. That's why it's. sage on my desk. It's uh vitamins on my. desk. It's never weed. But for me, this. doesn't change how I view Anthony. Richardson, okay, at all. I still think. Anthony Richardson has a phenomenal. amount of talent. I think he has the. capabilities in his body to be a great. NFL quarterback. It's like, did he just. not get put on the right path on how to. be a pro in the Colts at Florida when he. was in high school? like when does it. all start and when does it all.
potentially, you know, flip the switch. I hope it's with us, you know, maybe we. get a new coach in here, they see. Anthony Richardson and they can reach. him and have him do everything he was. doing before he got hurt this year in a. very weird way, but feels like we got a. whole new era coming to the Indianapolis. Colts from the sounds of it. And Shane. Stiken is going to be the OC for the. Chargers and they're probably going to. win. So that's just a prediction at this. exact point. I still think the Colts can. be 13 and4 though. Let's never forget. it. Let's turn to a team that is also. two and four just like the Indianapolis. Colts. Nobody's talking about the Los.
Angeles Rams. Go ahead, AJ. >> Rap. Yeah, I guess Puka left practice. yesterday with some what a calf injury. Devonte, can you let us know how how. long he may be out and also just the. Rams in general? Miles Garrett, like. what are we looking at when you talk. about the Rams? And first off, is Puka. going to play this week? >> Uh, I don't know if Puka is going to. play this week. I was told his calf. injury is not considered to be major, which is good. um had some tests and. stuff yesterday. So, you know, minor is. good, but when you have a calf injury on.
Thursday night, as minor as it could be, it's like you still might not be able to. play Sunday. So, I I just don't know the. answer right now. I'd say it's very much. up in the air. Devonte Adams uh is. having surgery to basically clean out. the hamstring tendon. It was kind of. like This is like kind of weird, but it. was like like coming off anyway, and. this basically just pulled it off. Um, so it was an injury. He's battled it for. a couple years and it just ripped. Um, so he's having surgery to kind of fix. it. Should be about six to eight weeks.
So I was told around the time of the buy. for the Rams is when he should be back. But like I mean look at that list. I. mean you got Dvonte is probably 6 to8. Kobe Turner's on IR. Puna Ford out for. the season. Uh Miles Garrett. Uh so I. was told from Miles Garrett that it is. likely he returns to practice next week. which would be about I believe that. would be uh it's either seven or eight. or eight weeks from the injury. I think. that's seven weeks from the injury. So.
could potentially play week eight I. think against the Commanders if I. remember correctly. But Miles Garrett. likely returning to practice next week. is like actual good injury news for the. Rams. Okay, let's talk about another. quarterback that could uh potentially. take his team to the Super Bowl. Going. to be wearing an interesting glove from. my understanding. Ty has a question for. you. >> Yeah, Rafi, what can you tell us about. uh Bake? You know, they actually haven't. looked as bad with Jaylen Daniels, but. they're kind of in the position where. they need to go now. He was a full.
participant at practice yesterday. Is he. good to go on Sunday? >> Feels like it's trending that way. I I. would expect him to play on Sunday. and. he has, you know, I mean, tried to play. last week, wasn't able to throw, which. is, you know, obviously a significant. portion of being a quarterback. Um, but. was able to throw this week, has a cool. glove, is going to protect the movement, so basically make sure that his thumb, I. mean, this is this is pretty cool. I. mean, Greg Man does a good job. This is. good details right here. Um, and so. Baker's going to protect himself and. likely play. Probably needs to. And.
like, you know, that's a team that. should be in playoff contention. They. are not right now. So, they need to win. And Baker Mayfield coming back, willing. himself back on the field like he knows. they need it, too. >> Hey, sorry about that. I was. reorganizing some things over here. Uh. the the. >> By the way, sorry to interrupt. Uh Todd. BS has just said for sure that Baker. Mayfield will start. So, there you go. >> Okay. >> Breaking. Shout out to Coach BS. There's. a backstory on that glove, you know,
that was being reported down there in. Tampa Bay. Uh, Greg Oman says, "Cool. backstory on Baker Mayfield's new glove. Bucks reached out to Nike, who had made. a custom protective glove for Mike Trat, but that wasn't thumb specific. That led. them to the Rays, who in the midst of. per pennant push, sent an equipment. staffer over to Bucks facility, met with. Mayfield, helped make a custom glove. They even brought over three more of. them right before getting on the plane. in Milwaukee. Team Tampa Bay is much. more than just wishing each other good. luck out there. Shout out to the Rays. They could potentially win their first.
ever World Series today looking after. Baker Mayfield. I like when a city comes. together like that. I like when a city. comes together like that. And I hope. this works now. What if the bluff is a. complete backfire, you know, and then. now we got to blame the Tampa Bay Race. and I I don't want to do that. I don't. want to do that at all. Uh there's some. other quarterback questions. Go ahead. Tone Diggs. >> Yeah, ref CJ Straoud, Bryce Young. Obviously, they are playing really, really good football and neither of them. has been paid yet. That's and the clock. is ticking on there. Is that a situation. where that can be done in season,
especially with how well they're. playing, or is that something that may. wait until the offseason? And and what. do you think might be the hold up? >> Uh, I would say for CJ Strad before week. one when he basically turned down their. last offer, it was like, we're going to. talk after the season. He wanted to let. his play do the talking, which he has. played extremely well. Uh, he has played. extremely well. The price is probably. going up, which is why he wanted to be. like this. Um, it's a risk. players know. that um he has taken a risk and I would.
say through six games he is playing. exceptionally well and they look like. they're heading the right direction too. Um with Bryce Young I don't know that. talks got to a place where they were. with CJ. I think his they were more wait. and see. I would be surprised if a. quarterback contract is done in the. middle of the season because like why. would it be? You'd like as much time as. as possible and everybody wants to see. the full product. That said, there's. gonna be a bunch of quarterbacks that. we're going to see get paid this off. season and I would probably add these. two to the list because they are like.
those that like hold discussion like, well, which one's better? Like, I still. don't know the answer, but both look. really good. >> Yeah. I um Yeah, I I you know who Yeah. has been startling to me, Ian Raport. >> You know, and you know who has been. giving me a lot of flack potentially? I watch Hard Knocks. Okay. I watch Hard. Knocks. I became a massive Seattle. Seahawks fan. >> Yeah. >> Okay. I like the way McDonald's operate.
They just want a Super Bowl. They sell. for whatever billions. Their owner, he's. a tweeter. This guy tweets people. I've. noticed. >> everything. He quote tweets stuff. Everybody want He. is a tweeter. Tweeter, which I respect. and appreciate that he's out there doing. it. But they've lost a couple games now. here. And Seahawks fans are saying um. the damn curse. I think it's cuz they. don't have a number one running back. Connor has a question for you. Rapor. >> Yeah, Rap sheet. Uh Zack Charbanet Pat's. talking about he is allegedly back. Is. he a full go? Are we going to see a you.
know heavy dose of Charbanet on Sunday. or what's the situation there? And uh. Seattle, will they be interested in a. type of Jonathan Taylor trade perhaps? >> Well, um we'll start with the uh Zack. Sharet part first. I would expect him to. play. I don't know the carry load yet, but like he's back full go. They've. really have taken their time. They've. used I think the full three weeks. So, I. would expect him to play and to play a. lot. As far as the Jonathan Taylor.
thing, I mean uh you know, Ed Dods has. does have ties the uh who's running the. personnel department there does have. ties to Seattle. Uh knows John Schneider. incredibly well. That's that whole sort. of like. >> tree or whatever is is all sort of the. same, by the way. same as um Nolan. Teasley who's in Minnesota. Wonder if they could use one as well. If. Jonathan Taylor is available, I would. expect. many teams to be interested. I wouldn't. be surprised if it was um I wouldn't be.
surprised if Seattle was one of them. It's really just like. >> what do you have to give up rap to get. them? >> Two ones. It sounds like if everybody's. interested, that's what it sounds like, you know. Hey, it's a supply demand biz, brother. That's what this is. you know. the goal, right? They don't have a one. because of sauce. Like, you know, that's. what they're going to try to get back. And if they have the kind of market that. players never have during the season, then like maybe they could get it. Maybe. it's a one give a little something back. But I just know if you are like talk.
about, you know, could Ed Dods keep the. job? Like he is a respected personnel. guy. Um I know around the league people. think highly of him. the trades are going to be part of the. reason for how they determine it. So. like if he does a great job, if he gets. a huge return, maximizes the value, like. all of that matters. So if they do end. up trading Taylor, like I expect several. teams to be interested, and I think the. price will be high. >> I um I like that people view Dods highly. around the league.
>> Why is that? >> Just what ends up happening? Well, first. of all, like I know you're asking. because they've been banned obviously. and he's very close to Chris. >> I'm genuinely I'm genuinely wondering. like cuz there's been a lot of. conversation about Chris Ballard being. an incredible GM, too. I've said it cuz. he has like gone through drafts, made. picks. He has guys that are really good. at football on our roster. He's been. able to spend money and keep and retain. people, but we've never won. We've never.
won. >> Right. Right. And like to judge a good. GM, it's like not how you draft or it's. like do you build a winning team? >> Like I mean Chris Boward was there 10. years and really never replaced Andrew. Luck. >> Good man. >> Yes. Yes. I agree. But reality of life, >> I'm a pay season ticket holder. We. haven't [ __ ] won an AFC South in over. a decade. This guy, he never won South. as general manager for the Colts. I I. don't know how that's possible. I don't. I I genuinely I mean the. >> odds are not in the favor of that.
happening. I agree. >> 10 years. Yeah. I think the NFC East has. had what 15 different winners somehow. and they only got four teams in 10. years, you know. So it's like you would. assume the parody of everything would at. least give us one. We never did. But I. understand that people like respect. Chris B because he's a good man. He is. He loves ball. He committed ball. I. assume the same for Ed Dods, but it's. like I also. >> I don't understand what we want. >> You're not you're not wrong. You are not. wrong because the only real thing that. matters is like how many games do you.
win? And Dodge was there with Chris. Bowerard on all of his major decisions. He was the sounding board. But I don't. assume that he was for every decision. But that is his boss. So the reason I. say he's a respected scout is because. scouts go on the road, they talk to each. other, they hear each other talk about. how players are valued. And when I talk. to other people, they say Dodge does a. nice job. He's very good. Now, the. record is what it is. So, it's like I. can't tell you that he's a great GM. because everyone with the Colts right.
now, it's all bad, but that is what. people think of him. Like, will he be. the future GM? Like, who knows? Hard to. imagine, but I'm just telling you, that's what people think about him. >> Okay. I like that people like everybody. that's in our building. Is that because. they get the better of us all the time? I don't know. Is it because they're good. people and they like their guys? Probably. I appreciate Ed Dods and Chris. Ballard for what they've done for. Indianapolis as humans and everything. We're in deep [ __ ] trying to build a. winner again. Okay, we agree. We are in.
a very very bad but we have found. ourselves in a very terrible position. and we have two weeks November 10th uh. to a little over two weeks to make a lot. of big decisions. I have. >> Do you uh can I ask you something? Do. you want to win the next two games? >> Nope, >> dude. I No, cuz what do we do? I I don't. know what I I have no idea. Like maybe. we went rattle off a 13 or whatever we. end up 13 and four. You know, maybe we. do that. Maybe we just needed a And I've. heard Ed Dods is a little bit more of a.
hard ass uh in situations than Chris. Ballard was cuz it just felt like there. was not a lot of accountability in the. building, which I don't think has ever. led to a successful organization in. anything. You know, I I don't think that. has ever happened. And also, you're. letting down the people in the building. if you don't hold them accountable for. greatness, especially if it's at the top. of the profession. So, I I think that. has been something that has been uh. looming over that Colts building for a. long time is like uh we can kind of just. get away with stuff here for some.
[ __ ] reason. I don't know why that. is. So, if Dods is able to come in there. and maybe do it for the rest of the. season, Shane Stiken maybe gets a little. bit more say, maybe Carly Ers gets a. little bit more say on what the moves. are and we win, I'm cool. But it doesn't. feel like that's ever going to happen. We're two and 11 in our last third team. We're [ __ ] ass. We got money all. across the board in the roster. We got a. lot of pillars people that have been. here for multiple contracts and we still. haven't won AFC South. I I mean at some. point you just got to say [laughter]. this didn't work and you got to go. another way. So is that right now? I. don't I would say yes, but we got two.
weeks to figure out if this year is the. year we win a Super Bowl. Maybe. And uh. I'm excited for that. Last question. Speaking of a guy that needs to win a. Super Bowl, Ty Schmidt has a question. for you for the electricity beaming from. Baltimore. >> Yeah, Rapshi, what about Lamar? He. missed practice earlier in the week. He. was limited yesterday. It seems like. it's still kind of up in the air whether. or not he's going to play. Uh, do you. have any idea what his status will. become Sunday? >> Yeah, I mean, I'm I'm I'm just doing. what everyone's doing and I'm watching. him run onto the field. Bill, is he.
limping? So, uh, I was told originally. this was a two to three week injury. So, he's missed two. This is the third week. um he is progressing and he's doing well. and he's moving more than he has uh in. the past. So he has a chance to play. I. cannot definitively say he is going to. play because everything with Lamar. injury-wise has been tough tough to. figure out um and tough to understand. when he's going to go out there. So I. know he like if he's listed as a full. participant today that would be a signal.
that he's probably ready to go. If he's. not, then I would say it might be. another week. But I I just don't know. for sure. And I imagine, not I imagine, I know that the Ravens also don't know. for sure. They're hopeful, but they. don't know. >> We hope we see Lamar ASAP. We hope the. Baltimore Ravens do what they did to the. Colts week one and just absolutely go. through a gauntlet of dominance. Um, everybody needs to win all the time. Everybody needs to remain healthy. I.
don't think that's ever going to happen, but that's why the NFL is the best. We. appreciate you, Rap Sheep, for joining. us. >> All right, thanks, guys. Good stuff. >> What's the weekend look like for you, Junior? Doing some cooking, maybe some. chores. >> Uh, I am uh So, since you asked, yes, >> I'm going to a dinner party on Saturday, and I'm smoking duck to be contributed. to a one of the one of the dishes that. we're serving. >> Oh, >> I'm smoking duck. >> Never really smoked duck before, but I'm. looking, man. Oh, I know you've gotten.
down there and smoked a little duck. before. Yeah, I know you've done that. >> I got some I got some duck fat. I got a. couple things of duck fat. And on the. package, they say on the duck fat, better than butter, which is like full. trash talk. Better than butter. >> Duck. >> They ask duck the ducks know what they. got going on. I I've eaten a few ducks. in my day. Um I believe it's a German. delicacy. Pretty big. They have the duck. very greasy food, which I think would. make sense for the duck butter to be. better than any other butter. I think. you're going to love it. And once you.
start smoking it, your mouth's going to. say, "Yeah, this where I'm supposed to. be all along." You're the best duck. smoker and meat smoker that we've ever. talked to. That's Ian Rapaort. [applause]. >> We have breaking news out of the NHL. The goalie who won the gold medal for. the team USA men's hockey team, Halabuk. requested a trade out of Winnipeg. And. after months and months of little. standoff drama, it has been announced by. Weeks, former player, now insider. journalist, that he's being traded to.
the New Jerseys Devils. Now, there was a. couple things happening here. Dawson. Mercer is being traded away from the. Devils back to Winnipeg. He was drafted. 18th overall in the 2020. He's a goal. scorer, averages about 20 a year, has. scored 27 before. That's the prize. possession of this particular trade, AJ. Okay. I don't know how much you you. follow the New Jersey Devils with Jackie. Hughes and the boys, but Dawson Mercer. is a man they might miss on the ice. Nico Daw's backup goalender, he's been. bouncing back and forth between, you.
know, baby Devils up into the Big Devils. and the Baby Devils, but getting a. goalie back in the trade is obviously a. big deal. Alexander Command, now this. guy, he was just drafted. We have no. idea what he's going to be. He could. become the next Weno. We have no idea. He's getting traded out of town. Devils. say, "Thank you so much." But we got a. chance to get Halib Buck who stopped. every puck. Honor shots was not enough. And then big vet Nick Bu's dad, 34year-old 66 center, is headed to. Winnipeg. This is a big deal cuz this. doesn't often happen in hockey where a.
star or a player that signed a long-term. deal with a team in the middle of that. deal says, "I'm not doing it. Get me out. of here. I'm sick of it." And I think a. lot of hockey was about sick of the way. it was all going down. I think a lot of. people were saying, "Hey, you signed the. contract, pal. You need to play that. contract." A lot of Canadians were. saying, "Hey, Halabuk, I hope you're. happy with how you played in that. Olympic gold medal game because we hate. you forever." Did that have anything in. it? We don't know. Him wanting to win a. Stanley Cup. Obviously, always going to. be the reasoning for that. He gets back. into America on the Devils. Let's go to.
Nikki Skates in the back. This feels. like a big one, doesn't it? Maybe Utah. Jazz were in on the mix. Did we know. that this is where Hala Buck was going. to end up at, Frankie? >> No. Actually, a lot of uh the experts. were thinking Buffalo was the leading. candidate in the house. So, this is a. bit of a surprise. Uh New Jersey is a. team that has missed essentially, think. of it like an NFL franchise that's. trying to replace a franchise. quarterback with uh you have a legend. like Marty Broaddor who was basically. the face of the New Jersey Devils for. years. They haven't really been able to. fill that uh net with anyone of that.
same caliber for years. And they finally. go ahead and pull a trade like this to. get Connor Hella. He can potentially be. that guy. We know he's got the pedigree. and the gold medal to back that up. So. hopefully he comes in now and gives the. Devils that solidifying force in the. net. >> Yeah. And Halabuk, you know, has been. judged by um, you know, by by some. hockey people about how he played for. the Jets versus how he played in that. Olympic gold medal uh, game. But I just. want to let you know, I'm happy he's. back in America and I hope they give him.
a standing ovation for that gold medal. everywhere he goes. >> They will. They will. >> I hope he gets what all the boys got. And uh we have actual owner of the. Nashville Predators with us, Coach Shar. >> Coach, >> coach, did you guys think about pulling. the trigger on Halabok? He did you know. he was available and how closely were. you following the goalie situation uh. from the US men's hockey team? >> I really wasn't during football season. [laughter] I kind of focus on football, but um obviously we want to try to make. our team better every way we can. And I.
think we got good leadership there, good. ownership, and I think we'll eventually. get this thing turned around. Okay. When. are you gonna put on the skates and. maybe go out there with the lads and try. to motivate them and inspire them? Maybe. get one of those hats that you wore for. football. [laughter]. Nikki skates. Nikki skates. Sabin maybe. out there to motivate the lads. >> You should know that being from West. Virginia. You going to West Virginia. We. don't have ice skates in West Virginia. >> I know there's not a lot of ice skating. Uh Predators last night had a game. against the Bruins. Coach. >> lost big time. >> Oh, what happened? [laughter].
>> Touchdown. 6 nothing. No extra point. They missed the extra point though, coach. Maybe the defense got the. pressure on it. Let's talk about. football. Uh we're out here in Utah yet. again. This Utah youths team has hosted. a lot of college game days over the last. few years. I think it's seven or. something like that. It's amongst the. most out of any college game day town. that we've been to. They lose. Whittingham. He ends up going to. Michigan or was going to retire, whatever the case was. Higher from. within with Morgan Scally. What have you. seen from his leadership that maybe. picks up right where they left off or.
did they even get a little bit better. possibly with old coach Mo? Well, I I. think they're a little better. I mean, I. don't think they've played a very tough. schedule to this point, you know, in the. season, but um offensively, they create. tremendous problems for defensive teams. They got 17 different personnel groups. They use, you know, do different things. out of every one of those. But how could. you ever get a defensive team to. understand 17 different personnel groups. and what they like to do out of each one. of them? It's impossible. So, I think.
that part of their team is better. I. think the quarterback's better. Uh I. don't think they've been tested. defensively. Uh so it'll be interesting. because Houston has a very athletic team. to see how how they hold up. >> Yeah. Tell me a little bit about Fritzy. getting down to Houston. They drive in. with the swing is on the low rider, but. they have the moxy on and off the field. Their offense scores as well. They're. moving the rock a lot. So this is Utah's. defense first big test. You're saying? >> No question. 61% third down conversion. What? That's almost unheard of for. Houston. And you know, the quarterback.
has played really, really well for them. They're athletic. They're explosive. They make a lot of explosive plays. They. have balance. They run the ball. So, this is a good offensive team. >> Tell me a little bit about your thoughts. on what last weekend was like at BYU. Was that not absurd? How many years now. have you been on the show? >> This is the third. >> Third year. And that was the most. excitement and energy and passion that. I've seen, you know, in college football. since I've been on the show. Of course,
when I was coaching, you never saw that. part of the game. So, um, and you know, it's something that, and you know, the. leadership there, it just, you know, the. coach, I mean, he's like dancing before. the freaking game. You know what I mean? But I I I see that kind of confidence. and, you know, I didn't see a lot of, you know, guys that were tight or, you. know, had a lot of anxiety the way they. went out there and played and competed. in the game. And, um, I I think that's a. reflection of his leadership and and the.
way he goes about coaching this team and. the confidence they have in themselves. >> Yeah, I love the experience out there. And they're all just 100% stone cold. sober out there. They they were out. there for what, 12 hours for us. They. started at least midnight before. standing there. Tuesday, some of the. people got in there and started camping. out. Then that game ends at nighttime. over there. They were out throughout the. entirety of it just ponding diet cokes, I guess, with caffeine. But whenever you. talk about like everybody coming. together for one thing, there's a lot of. cults in college football. Roll Tide.
What's that coming down the track? I. mean, there's a lot of cultish type. feels. And I'm not saying uh this is not. about the religion being a cult, even. though I think if you were to describe. most religions, you would say that. But. everybody was allin. It was very. apparent that everybody on campus was. all in on that day on that football. team. And it was we've seen special at. LSU in the middle of that rainstorm. They were out there and then you got. 100,000 people all doing the same thing. It just felt different with the. mountains in the first time in 17 years.
I enjoyed the hell out of my time over. there. >> Yeah, it was fun. It really was fun. It. was exciting. It was fun. The crowd was. great. Uh the atmosphere around it and. the game was great. It was a great. football game to watch. I mean, BYU won, but it was a great game to watch. >> Oh, you want Notre Dame to win cuz you. picked them. BYU now is the number two. team in the country. >> I picked BYU as my super dog and one. So, you got a hedge, man. I like what. you're doing [laughter] there. I like a. little hedge cuz you did get the pop out. of I've got BYU as my super dog and then.
later go with Notre Dame. They're the. number two team in the country right. now. AP- wise, uh, Reese and Tone had. him as number one team. Miami AP number. one team. How do you feel about the top. of college football right now? Because. it does feel like it's changeable. Indiana loses its first game in forever. Could have won it by a half an inch. Alabama in the situation there. Like, how do you feel about the top of college. football right now, coach? Well, the way. I see it is the reason we're seeing a. lot of these inconsistencies in. performance is people are struggling to.
sustain their intensity week in and week. out. And you know, maybe it's people. aren't are are a little more. conditionally uh committed to their team. because of the circumstance that we. putting these players in. You know, I. talked to a college coach this week. who's got a by-week next week and all. he's doing is meeting with agents. It's. the middle of the season. All right. So, you know, guys are worried about how. much playing time am I getting? What am. I going to do if I don't get enough.
playing time? Uh I'm playing really. well, so how much money I want to make. next year there or someplace else. So, if you can't sustain intensity, you. can't sustain the level of of of. performance you want to sustain, you. can't play smart, you can't play with. intelligence. All right? So it all. starts with that mental energy and that. starts with your commitment to your team. and to your development as a player. >> So it's always about like the big games. the and then there's the um you know the. lower intensity games that teams can.
slip up on. Is it just a constant. messaging about what you need to view or. how you need to view literally. everything in your life that you think. you could keep the intensity cuz how. many years were you able to keep the. intensity for 20ome years? uh 17 maybe at Alabama. You know, I. >> So, what's that on the coach though to. just drive the message home or do you. blame coaching on that? Do you blame the. modern generation? Like, how why do you. think it might be a little bit more. difficult to be able to do that now than. >> Well, I I think it's the modern. generation. I think it's the. circumstance that surrounds college.
athletics right now. College football is. what we're talking about here. But I. also think that if you're a coach, you. got to realize and anticipate what those. changes are and be able to try to focus. from the very beginning, not the week of. the game, from the very beginning. Like. how am I setting this team up. psychologically so that we can sustain. our performance, you know? I mean, like. I define success as consistency and. performance, not winning a big game, not.
winning a game, you know. and we win a. national championship and in my speech. at the celebration I say this is not the. end this is a beginning. So you're. you're constantly setting up. >> all right new horizons for what you want. people to try to accomplish and how you. want them to look at it. >> rather than be satisfied with what. they've accomplished in the past. >> Yeah. But when you get to the top of the. mountain, shouldn't you look around a. little bit? What have we been climbing. for? >> Well, I mean, how many championships you win? [laughter].
>> [laughter]. >> All right. Well, now I got to on that. note, I got to ask you a question cuz. you may be winning some awards here. No. >> How did your premiere go? >> Yeah. Thank you for asking. Appreciate. that. Uh, it was interesting, man, cuz. this theater, the the screen is gigant. It's called the Chinese Theater, I. guess. This is where all the movies do. the premieres. >> Oh, yeah. >> They were having some AFI fest, American. Film Institute Festival was happening in. there. Uh, it was interesting. I The.
movie got me crying. I think the movie. is good. I was pumped whenever we got. past my part, you know, like I my part. is a very you see it, you know when it's. coming, you know when it's happening. I. knew when it was happening. I had not. seen it. So when it was over, I was. pretty relieved to enjoy the rest of the. movie cuz I had Googled a couple times. like what it's like to watch yourself. act for the first time. It's all really. bad. I mean, these actors really judge. themselves very negatively. So I was. reading that. I'm like, what's it going. to be like for me to watch myself? I. started looking into how other actors do.
it. They they judge themselves terribly, you know, they they really go hard. I. guess it's really hard to watch yourself. act. A lot of people have said that. So, I was a little bit nervous going in. there. I hadn't really thought about it. And then I watch it and it just felt. interesting seeing myself in that role. And I think cuz I see myself on clips. and on TV a lot, I'm used to it a little. bit more. But I didn't want to like kill. myself afterwards. I I don't think I was. like great. I don't think I was great, but I don't think anybody walked out of. the movie during my part. So, I think. that's good. But Peter Berg, Ray. Nicholson, Scarsgard, uh Tom Francis,
and then Nick Goutson. He they made a. great movie and uh Alex and Ezra and. everybody. It was good to catch up with. everybody and watch the movie for the. first time. But yeah, it was cool to. experience, man. It was really cool. How. many movies you been in? I know you were. in Blindside pitching your ass off in. that living room. Have you done any. other movies? >> No, that was it. But I'm sure you This. is going to be great. I can't wait to. see it. I'm sure you did well. But to. your point, it is really just for people. out there to understand, it really is.
hard to watch yourself, >> whether it's a movie or just like in. this premiere that we did. >> Yeah. For the. >> for the documentary, I I I don't really. feel comfortable watching myself. I. mean, it's like, who is this guy? >> Yeah, exactly. I was really. uncomfortable. >> How do you get on here? >> Exactly. Well, you you did it because. you got to the top of the mountain and. said, "Nobody look around." Okay. we're. going to create another mountain that we. got to go to because of your incredible. attention to detail and accountability. and uh strive for success is why you got.
a documentary. That's never going to. happen for me. But my face took up this. entire screen last night just from top. all the way to the bottom as I'm zoomed. in and I'm yelling on somebody and it. was just uh it all felt very surreal. I'm very thankful for everybody for how. kind they were to me in this movie cuz. these were all incredible actors and uh. Sergeant Major De's there. It was great. to see him and catch up with everybody. It was it was fun. Thank you for asking. It's wild. >> I'm looking forward to seeing you chew. somebody's ass out. All right. Because. they got me chewing people's ass out all.
over the place. So, I want to see you do. >> I [laughter] got I I got some good ones. I I got some. >> I want to see that. >> Yeah, there was a couple There was. actually a couple pops during my uh my. scene in there. Super intense. The movie. is very intense. Uh, it's a war movie, a. true story about four college football. players that join the Marines during. World War II and then they are tasked. with putting this football game together. in Guadal Canal Christmas Eve 1944. before everything, you know. It was. Yeah, it was really cool to be a part. of. Peter Burke crushed it though. They.
made a phenomenal movie. I'm crying at. the end and uh yeah, just honored to be. a part of it. Thank you so much for. asking. Now, let's get back to college. football now as opposed to college. football then with those incredible lads. that signed up for the Marines. Uh. there's a quarterback situations brewing. around the country. Michigan already. made a decision. Arch and Texas. AJ has. a question about both of those. >> Yeah, so coach Tommy Carr stepped in. last week for Michigan. Did uh you know, played very well. Kind of gave him a. shot in the arm. Indiana comes to town. this week. I know coach Winningham has.
not officially said Tommy Carr will be. starting. We we would anticipate he gets. the most of the time. I guess how do you. handle a situation like this? We know. you have famously handled quarterback. situations beautifully in the past, but. what do you think this does for Michigan. as far as their uh, you know, the. prognosis moving forward? >> Well, you know, I think competition is. good. Uh, I I think that complacency is. actually bad. And when somebody thinks. they're not responsible or perform well, that's probably not good for you as an. individual, and it's probably not good. for your teammates who are looking at.
you to play a little better and do a. little more for your team. So, I'm not. inside that situation. So, I don't know. what gives them the best opportunity to. win. But, you know, based on last week's. performance, it was certainly was a shot. in an in the arm for Michigan when Tommy. Carr came in and um you know, hopefully, look, Michigan can play really good on. defense. >> Oh, yeah. So if they can just play okay. and the quarterback can just be. efficient in how they manage the game, run the ball, stay ahead of the sticks,
don't turn it over, play really good on. defense, they they still have a chance. to be a good football team, but they got. to win that way. >> Yeah, Josh Hoover, there's little. rumblings around Josh Hoover's health. Have you heard any of that, Tone? Yeah, there was a point in the game where he. took a hit and then he made a throw and. after the throw it, they showed a replay. of him like grabbing his arm a bit and. wincing. Now, he wasn't on the injury. report. There wasn't a single IU Hooser. on the injury report. Um, people were. asking how Sig accomplishes that, but. yeah, that I you could see it during the.
game. There was a replay. Um, I might be. able to find it while we're talking. about it, but that where he winced after. he threw. >> Now, we all saw the final throw a. thousand times. It had perfect spiral. It might have been a little bit to the. left. You got to get your feet in there. Whatever the case, they could have beat. Ohio State maybe. Uh, still a minute. left. Could Ohio State drive down there. without Julian saying TBD? Probably not. But Hoover throws that ball pretty well. there if he was injured. Maybe he was. just battling through it. But that's a. conversation. Him having to take on this. Michigan defense that that is not a. defense that you want to just sign up to.
play against. Not I'm not saying he's. scared or Indiana's scared or anything. like that, but let's say he does have a. little bit of a shoulder or something. going on. Taking on the Michigan defense. right now with new quarterback, you lose. two games in a row. I mean that that all. of a sudden, you know, things start to. get really loud even if you had 22ame. win streak in a row. >> But what Indiana's always been able to. do is they had balance. They always. could run the ball and they really. struggled to run the ball a week ago. against Ohio State. And hopefully. they'll be able to get it together. running it so they can have balance on.
offense and not put it all on the. quarterback. >> Yeah, we have two teams have massive. wins last week. Will they be able to. handle it? Tone has a question for you. >> Yeah, I do. It's and you guys kind of. talked about a little bit, but there's. been a trend this year and it's probably. been a trend for longer than this where. you win a big game and then you go on. the a road and lose. Miss did it, Florida did it, Georgia beats Bama, they. and then they go and they lose to Auburn. even though that was at home. This. week's going on the road after a huge. emotional win. BYU is going on the road. after a huge emotional win. How do you. deal with that as a as a coach? And has.
that always been a thing that you've had. to deal with? Yeah, I mean if you got a good team, you're going to win big games and you. got to still play the next week. So, you. know, you're constantly preaching we. want to go one and0 this week. The most. important game we have on the schedule. is the game we're playing this week. And. it's about how we play. It's not about. who we play and let's play to the level. that we're capable of and do it on a. consistent basis. But I I I do think you. have to preach that all the time. And if.
you make one game a great big game for. your team, then they're probably going. to look at the next game with a little. less attention to detail, and that could. cost you in performance. You know, complacency is a terrible thing for. performance. It creates a blatant. disregard for doing what's right, paying. attention to detail. You create bad. habits, you don't prepare the right way, you don't practice the right way, and. you go out there and you don't perform. relative to what you're capable of, and. somebody lesser than you beats you. Yeah, that's what.
>> and you control that. You control that. You you can blame everybody else. You. can blame the circumstances. You can. blame the external factors. But what we. have right now in college football is. you guys have heard me talk about rat. poison. This is rat poison on steroids. >> Just the modern era. >> Money, the modern era, >> social media, everybody's a blog. Uh, everybody's a potential agent telling. you what's right. You're saying rat. poison's coming in from everywhere. because you gotwhere you got managers. who know that you could probably get. more money elsewhere saying they're not.
using you right here. So does that take. you a little bit away from the mission. with the team. You got people in social. media that's everywhere. And you used to. say don't read your press clippings. Don't don't buy into any of it. Don't. get too high. You're too low. You have. to in a modern era. You have to be. plugged in. You go around campus people. because they're able to gamble in some. states. Not not with the Mormons. Prophet said no more. We're not doing. that. But there's prop betting on. players hear about that from people. I. mean, it is the more the most um. communicative two athletes era that. we've ever had, I think, if that's what.
you mean. >> But one thing that is a little bit. consistent that people don't talk about. is the teams that have more maturity. Older teams that are more mature. What. does maturity allow you to do? Make. better decisions about what you're. doing. Lock on and lock out. Lock on to. what you have in front of you. lock out. all this noise outside of you and be. able to focus on the things that matter. And mature people have a better chance. to do that. >> Have you ever uh ordered off of Door. Dash?
>> No, but I'm sure Miss Derry has, but I. don't I don't know how to do that stuff. >> Oh, it's easy. Door Dash makes life easy. for you, easy for all of us. And I like. that it popped up around you while you. were doing this cuz it looked like you. were saying, "Look at Door Dash. It is. the greatest." And I I think it is an. assistant. Not that you need an. assistant. I know you get a lot of work. done, but I think you could manage Door. Dash. I think it would make you better. somehow. I don't know how. Can I talk. about what you're wearing right now? I. mean, this thing is Dennis. I don't know. if you can get a little zoom in maybe on. the pack camera there. Uh, this guy.
looks absolutely phenomenal. The suit is. I mean, get in there on the Look at this. suit. I mean, we got the button. Zoom. out a little bit, please. >> Handkerchief, huh? >> Yeah, handkerchief. We got the blue. buttons. You got the shining bright blue. with the black black pants here with the. loafers. Hey coach, you're killing them. today. Absolutely killing them. You. should be proud of yourself. Did you fly. out wearing this? >> I wanted to try to elevate the boys in. terms of the class that. >> Thank you, coach. Appreciate that,
coach. >> How we dress and represent the. organization here and all that. >> Yeah. Well, I appreciate. >> Not you, Pat. Just Just the. >> Yeah, cuz I'm super dressed up. It's. 100,000 degrees in here. I I didn't know. that was going to be the case, but I was. wearing Yeah, we're all dressed up. around here. Thank you for classing a. joint up legit. Uh, how would you talk. to Brewers or Rays who are on the. precipice of accomplishing something. that neither franchise has ever done, which is win a World Series, first World. Series game today. Both teams have never. won a World Series. How would how would. you talk to these teams? How would you. talk to the squads?
>> Well, I I I think what what you got to. do is that really is not going to impact. the outcome of the game. that the fact. that what's happened in the history is. not going to have anything to do with. what happens in in this World Series. So, the team that can focus on what's in. front of them and what they need to do. to execute the best and don't have a lot. of anxiety about the outcome, but be. able to focus on one pitch at a time, one play at a time, whatever you want to. call it, one inning at a time, and try. to do the best job and play together as.
a group. And I think both of these teams. have been extremely, you know, impressive, you know, throughout the. season, uh, as well as in these playoffs. cuz I I like baseball and I've watched a. lot of these teams. They got good. pitching. They're athletic, both teams, and they play well together as a group. >> Have you did you see what happened in. practice from Junior Junior Commino? >> No. >> I broke an LED board. This guy's hitting. BP in uh getting ready for the World. Series. Bomb. See you. And.
>> boop. >> Yeah. Yeah, that's it. Seems feels like. he's hitting the ball pretty well. Miserasi getting a start for the World. Series. He's the ace for the Brewers. We. talked to him the other day. Seemed like. he was just trying to view this as. another game. This is another series. We. just got to go out and do our job. You. could become immortal, kid. Can't wait. to watch it. That happens today. This is. what we've been waiting for. Ty Schmidt. These two teams certainly the best two. teams in MLB and will put on a show for. all of baseball. Ty. Yeah, without a. doubt. They uh Brewers were the best. team in the NL this year, at least had.
the best record. The Rays had the best. record in the AL. And uh you know, it. because there's not a bunch of. fireworks, like the Brewers had scored. the the least amount of their runs by. home run this year and the uh the Rays. had the second most of their runs. accounted for by the home run. So, these. games should be incredibly tight. Like, I I have a tough time seeing this not go. seven games. And you know, to coach's. point, like in terms of what they're. telling these guys, that's kind of what. it is. It's just, hey, you you play.
exactly how you have all year, you play. 162 games. So, like who who they are. right now, like that is who these teams. are. They're not going to go out there. and try to hit a bunch of home runs. They're going to, you know, manufacture. runs, get guys on base, steal, move them. over, play good defense. And uh for the. Brewers tonight, like they really need. Misarowski to go deeper because he has. teams have been getting his pitch count. up and and have been getting into the. Bro uh Brewers bullpen much earlier and. the Rays starters have actually gone. quite a bit longer. So, uh I'm very.
excited for this. I expect all these. games to be incredibly tight. >> Okay, let's go baseball. Let's go World. Series. We'll watch tonight. >> It's all about pitching though and who. has command of their pitching and who. can control it because pitching will. shut down the good hitting and the base. runners and all that. And I think that's. been Ms.'s issue is he doesn't have as. much command as he had early in the. season. He's got the velocity. He. doesn't have the command. >> Whoa, whoa, whoa. I didn't know we're. breaking down pitching. That's why. you're the best. We appreciate the hell. out of you. That's the greatest of all. time. Coach Saving. The boys are back in.
the Thunderdome. We'll be joined by. Coach Scally on the other side and. Stanford. Steve will help us make picks. I saw him at the Wizards game with BFT. Looks like he's living his damn life. Let's see if he can get some picks. right. Be a friend. Tell a friend. something nice might change your life. We'll see you on the other side. And. goodbye. It feels like a special morning out here. in Provo. One that we will certainly. remember [cheering] for a long time. Now, before we get to Spider-Man here, we have to introduce a couple BYU.
royalty members. A man who led the NFL. in reception and touchdowns at one. point. Austin Collie is here, ladies and. gentlemen. >> Beast. Beast. >> The human Swiss Army knife here. a man. who was a quarterback at BYU but played. every other position for the New Orleans. Saints. Taesm Hill is here as well. And. we have our kicker. What's your name, brother? >> My name is Carter Smith. >> Okay. Carter, what year are you? >> I'm a freshman. >> You're a freshman. Have you ever kicked. before? >> Not footballs. >> Okay. Well, speaking of footballs, we. don't have a football. We need a. football. Let's look up in the sky.
>> There is. >> Yes. a mascot that hopped out of a plane. who is circling above beautiful BYU's. campus. He said, "I took the ball. earlier. I'll be able to deliver it in. from the sky. You're at 4600 ft. I'm. going to take off from 10,000 ft.". Carter, when you're a soccer player, did. you ever think that's about kicking a. football delivered by Cosmo from the. sky? >> Yes, I did. >> Cosmo hits the mark perfectly.
[cheering]. >> Let's go, Cosmo. Cosmo, thank you for. bringing us the ball, sir. >> I think a million-dollar kick is proper. for what's happening here in Provo. But. it's not just a million from me. There. is a billionaire here that thought he. was just going to poke in and uh not do. anything. Ryan Smith, the owner of the. Jazz and the Mammoth right there. [cheering]. [applause]. >> Yeah. He will also be putting up a. million dollars on this Kick Carter.
>> How does that feel? a million from me. >> Okay. And Sweeney, who is Ryan Smith's. business partner, also owner of the Jazz. and the Mammoth, who's a diehard Notre. Dame fan, he'll be putting in a million. dollar donation. [laughter]. So, this is a $3 million kick. 2 million. to you, $1 million donation from Notre. Dame. Sweeny, >> when did you start camping out for this? >> We came out Wednesday morning. >> Okay. And it was for the kick. No,
>> no. Just to have a good time. Yes, sir. >> And the kick thing was just if it. happens, it happens. >> Yeah. I didn't even know about it to be. honest with you. [cheering]. >> I love that. >> $3 million. [cheering]. >> Jeez, Carter. >> What I think we need to do is give. Carter one more. >> Yeah. [cheering]. One more. >> One more, baby. >> For $3 million.
>> [cheering]. >> Let's go. >> Oh my god. >> Let's go. >> The following program is a collection of. stooges talking about happenings in the. sports world. It is meant to be comedic. informative. The opinions expressed on. this show do not necessarily reflect the. beliefs of their peers, their boss or.
ESPN. There may be some cuss words. because that's how humans in the real. world talk. If you are a young, please. seek permission before watching any. further. >> Hey, let's go. This show sticks and the fact that you. listen, we are very, very thankful. >> McAfee on the line with a gorgeous. assist. >> The alltime leading tackler for the. Green Bay Packers. You.
>> start damn it. >> Your friend, tell a friend something. nice could change their life. >> Hello, beautiful people, and welcome. back to this fantastic. Feel good Friday, October 23rd, 2046. Hour of this program begins now. >> Football.
is the greatest. That's why I'm out here. in Utah to celebrate Houston coming out. here to play the youths. Tomorrow is. Utah's seven-point favorites in what. might be a very high scoring affair. We. shall maybe see the potential national. champion playing here with both squads. ranked in the top 15. It's an honor to. be out here. It's great to be back in. Utah. The weather is delightful. The. football forecasted to be spectacular. and college football going to bring it. yet again. Last night, the NFL kicked. off its week seven in a huge way in. Chicago as the Bears beat the New.
England Patriots in what could be a. forecast of what the future Super Bowls. look like over the next 10 to 15 year. Now, the Iceman, Caleb Williams, sat out for a couple. weeks, watched Case Keenum and Tyson Bum. play quarterback in Ben Johnson's. system. They did well. They sliced and. dice. He understood that he was a better. quarterback than both of them, but if he. could play Ben Johnson's system like. they did, plus add his magic on top of. it, he might be the best version of. himself that we've ever seen. Well, last. night is the second week back from the.
hamstring injury. And last last week, he. won 30 of 36 for 300 yards. This week, damn near perfection again. Ben Johnson. predicted that they could have the most. prolific offense in the history of the. NFL this past offseason. Now with Caleb. all the way back and Ben Johnson. cooking, Cole KT gets hurt in a non-cont. which obviously te's and pees towards. him. Luther Burden seemingly. unguardable. Lovelin gets into the end. zone. Their running game's always going. to be good and their offensive line can. protect this magical weapon. Caleb. Williams plays fantastic to kick off. week seven of the NFL season and the.
Bears all the way back. New England. Patriots also played great. Drake May. had a fantastic game. He ends up losing. in taking an L. They now move to four. and three as the Bears move to five and. two. We think we'll see both of these. teams in the Super Bowl. Will it be at. the same time multiple times going. forward? Possibly. Mike Vrabel, great. head coach. Ben Johnson, great head. coach. Both quarterbacks really good. cultures in place in both places. These. two teams are going to be a staple of. the league going forward. And we got a.
chance to watch it and enjoy it last. night. Now, it's not just me here. chitchatting about ball. There is a man. who's a college football national. champion, Super Bowl champion, Ryder Cup. winner back in the Thunderdome. We. appreciate him. Ladies and gentlemen, AJ. Hawks here. >> Hako, what' you see last night that made. you think to yourself, the future of the. NFL is in great hands, or week seven of. the NFL might be the best week yet. >> I think it may have uh kicked off what. possibly the best week yet moving. forward, but I think the Chicago Bears. team is for real. Caleb Williams is for.
real. I think you come out of this game. feeling like both these teams are going. to be okay. the New England Patriots and. the Chicago Bears. We know the NFC North. has been rolling so far this season. I. think we just uh more of that we saw. last night. Continued success for the. Chicago Bears team, especially playing. at home with a healthy Caleb Williams. I. think this is a team that you're going. to have to worry about if they're on. your schedule. >> Yeah, definitely going to have to worry. about them if they're on your schedule. And uh they might be on your schedule in. the playoffs. They might be on schedule. in Super Bowl. And that's how Chicago. Bears fans should be thinking. After you.
hire Ben Johnson, you get the super. guru. And then you think to yourself, we. got the once in a generational talent. and we got the super offensive guru. Even if our offense does well, we're. going to have the same offensive. coordinator forever unless he passes off. play calling duties, which don't do it. Just Ben, we are asking you now. >> Never. >> Don't do it. We hate it when it happens. We need him doing his little stanky leg. into his chant, into his play calling, into his drawing up plays for the good. of the league, for the good of Caleb,
and for the good of the Chicago Bears. Let's go to the toxic table at Boston. Connor and at Ty Schmidt. I know Drake. May has been fantastic for the Patriots. He's led you guys to a Super Bowl. He's. already been in the MVP finals. conversation. What' you see from him. last night? Are you freaking out that. you guys didn't cover last night, Con. Man? How do you kind of view your team. after week seven kickoff on Thursday. night? >> No, I still feel great about him. I. mean, it was a tough game. You knew. going into it, it's prime time. It's Ben. Johnson. Uh, you know, Caleb being. healthy. Caleb's unbelievable. You know, you kind of just solidify that when you.
watch him. Um, especially in a full. game. You know, every single moment he. stepped up. But no, feel great about. Drake May. Very banged up. You know, that's the thing is this could have been. very ugly. You're down to your fourth. and fifth guards right up the middle and. they kind of held their own, but also. Drake May escaped. Made a lot of plays. with his feet. Feel good about it. Need. more from AJ Brown. that guy right. there. It's kind of one of those things. where you're waiting for him to have his. massive, hey, AJ Brown still AJ Brown. game. Haven't seen that yet. But yeah, aside from that red zone interception,
it was a pretty flawless game from Drake. May. Expect that to kind of continue. going forward. Let's take this mini by. week 10 days off, get a little healthier. and, you know, bounce right back. But. yeah, not not panicking whatsoever. Feel. really good about this team still. >> Okay, Hembo sends a stat about that pick. we just saw right there. Drake May is. the only quarterback to throw multiple. picks whenever he's targeting the end. zone this season. He has three. Is that. because he's a gunslinger? Got a little. Josh Allen in him. Do you think he. doesn't see this guy dropping right into. coverage? He seemingly throws it right.
to him. What are your thoughts, Con man? And why has Drake turned it over a. couple times in scoring position? >> Yeah, early on it felt like he was just. trying to do too much. I think two of. those were against Seattle and it was. just like a dude, come on, what are we. doing here? We remember the end of the. game one where kind of ended the entire. thing when we could have just tied the. game. But this honestly just feels like. maybe he missed it a little bit. You. know, that feels as though it should be. high to the outside for Raren to get. He. actually basically threw a perfect pass. to Raren. Same guy later on to score.
their third touchdown of the game. This. one right here. Kind of the exact same. type of throw you were expecting on that. first one. So, I don't know if he he. didn't see him or more so he's just. trying to do too much, you know, putting. putting too much faith in his arm maybe. But, no, it's going to happen. I mean, he said it after the game, gosh, you. know, I wish I didn't throw that pass, you know, and that's just one of those. things where, hey, you know, with time, you forget that the kid's only 24 years. old and that he's still only in his. third year because he's already. accomplished so many things. But yeah,
that's just Drake May football, baby. I. mean, the the touchdown run he had was. unbelievable. Couldn't believe he got in. there. But yeah, Drake Drake's just. Drake. You got to let him kind of do. what he wants to do. >> How about the reach? I mean, it's just. everything about it. We talked about him. being a hooper. It's very evident he's a. freak athlete. Very evident. Yeah. And I. I we hadn't we had talked about it. before, but I hadn't really remembered. it. He led North Carolina in rushing one. season. I think he had over a thousand. I I That might have been too much. I. don't know if he had over a thousand, but he did lead North Carolina in.
rushing while being quarterback. That's. when the conversation started with him. getting a helmet to helmet right there. at the one and scoring touchdown. Continuing to go. No flag. They're okay. Happy he's okay. Uh but Drake May helped. us out last night. So did Caleb. >> Congrats to us hitting. Let's go to one. half of the hammer. >> down Cowboys AP Town. Good for us town. And what does this kind of uh tell us. about the week ahead as we look to make. some predictions, trades, or bets uh uh. week seven of the NFL? >> Yeah, it's great for us. Uh we now have. a winning record on the year as far as.
Thursday night NFL boost. So, you know, that's awesome. Um and as far as what it. tells for the weekend ahead, it's going. to be the greatest weekend yet. We are. going to have only winning bets. Probably, I would assume, no sweats at. all. Just easy cake weekend where you. just win every single bet. But you do it. responsibly, Pat, because if you don't. do it responsibly, you're an [ __ ] and. you ruin it for everybody else. So, I'm. very excited for the upcoming weekend, college and NFL. >> That's right. Don't be an [ __ ] We'd. love for you to join us. Uh, but you. need to be responsible about it all.
Okay? And if you can't be, you need to. ban yourself from it. That's no that's. no joking. That's no joke. That's no. joshion at all, AJ. We're being serious. whenever we say that. We are a part of. the generation here that's going to set. the tone for what this is going forward. and we need to make sure we handle that. well. Now, AJ, what are your thoughts on. where the state of the NFL is right now. and football as a whole? Feels like we. got a better game, better time, more. likely to have a banger than a dud. whenever we turn on a football game.
>> Yeah, I'm I think it's so unpredictable. We have no clue what's going to happen. We we try to pick the games every single. week, which I'm sure we will do here in. a little bit later down the in the end. of the show, but I truly don't know. which team's going to show up. I think. there's so much parody. You hear that. all the time. Oh, there's so much parody. each teams or there's studs on every. team. Yeah, there absolutely is. But. sometimes we don't know going in. Like. there's always like a new star to step. up. I think when you watch these games. So like the fact we said what last week. Tennessee plays the the Colts. Me and. Conman felt very very good about the. Colts. We honestly did lean into that.
Tennessee. win. So I just think that's what makes. it great though. There's not like it's. very difficult to say, okay, this is. going to be a blowout game. I know this. team is so much better. They're really. not. It's the league. Everybody can. play. We got D lineman running 44. So. that's what I think is the best part. about the NFL right now. >> I agree. Every team can be great. Every. team can be shite. That is football in. the current era. And I think a lot of. people are about to learn a lot about. the two teams that are going to be. playing on this field tomorrow. Houston. with Fritz. Brand new squad. Brand new.
team. Conor's a stud. They light up the. scoreboard. And then this Utah team, they're in a new era as well. AJ, brand. new head coach, but a man who's been. here since 1998. I just found out. Ladies and gentlemen, joining us live here at Rice Eckle. Stadium. The head coach of the Utah. Youths, Coach Morgan Scally. [applause]. [cheering]. >> He's rolling. [laughter]. Oh, yes. I absolutely love that coach.
[laughter]. >> Coach, uh, good to see you. Um, >> what's up, brother? >> Hey, dude. How are you, coach? I love. that. If you want to put this on here. Okay, we got a whole bag of stuff. Thank. you so much for the hospitality. I love. that. >> You got to wear Utah gear, brother. >> Okay, I will. You want me to put some on. right now? Is what you're saying? Cuz I. have blue on and uh there's a little bit. that Yeah, I understand. I I understand. that [laughter] you guys get a little. bit upset about that. And I didn't think. about it, so I put it on here. Okay, let. me uh People are going to love this.
Here we go. Here we go. Yep. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank. you. Thank you. Let's go and put the. hoodie on here. >> Good merch. >> Just built like a Greek god, [laughter]. you know. Oh my gosh. >> Jeez. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We're kind of doing. it. Thank you, coach. You, too, Polly. >> No, we're getting furniture disease. It's where our chest falls into our. drawers. [laughter]. Don't don't don't get old. Don't get old. It's a bad deal.
>> I'm getting old, bro. I am getting old. >> You look, man. That is nice. >> Yeah. Thank you. It's pretty good little. hoodie. >> You got the RSNB on the back. >> The the what? The. >> RSMBB. Our culture. Relentless, smart, nasty ball hawks. >> Yeah. Hey, that's a DC. That's a head. coach there. AJ, did you hear the. mantra? Say it one more time. Relentless. >> Relentless. Smart. Nasty ball hawks. >> Okay. Can you tell me how your team has. proven that that's exactly what they are. to start the season and also. congratulations on being the head coach. of your brother Utah's brother. Can you.
tell me a little bit about this team and. why that mindset has maybe uh took over. the locker room? >> Well, I we've had this as a as a culture. on the defensive side of the ball and I. think culture really is a term that's. overused in college football. You walk. into a facility and ask, you know, a. bunch of different people, what's your. culture? If you're getting 10 different. answers, then you don't have culture. So, you know, everyone should be. speaking the same language. And uh these. are skill sets and mindsets that you. teach your players about what it takes. to be elite and and win championships.
Relentless, smart, and nastier acronyms. Smart, situationally intelligent, mentally tough, aware of what you're. putting into your body. Rest in recovery. technician. Nasty. No excuses. Attack. the problem. Starts with me. Team first. mentality. Yes, sir. Communication. And. ball hawks. The ball's meant for us to. have, not them. Okay. So, there's. actually our. >> I'll text it to you. [laughter]. >> We're good. >> Please do. Uh we appreciate everything.
that Utah has done for college football. and for college game day over the last. few years. We visited here, I think tied. for the most amongst every other school. in the country. So, thank you for. hosting us. Thank you for having us. Let's talk about your journey. I just. asked you, I said, you've been here. since 2006 or 2007. You said no. 1998 is. when you came here. lifelong Utah youth. Now it's kind of your job to guide the. ship. Can you tell me about your journey. here and why Utah is the place for you? >> Uh kind of surreal. I My dad was a. halfback here back in the in the late.
50s, early 60s. Bud Scally was a. halfback for the youths. Uh when Utah. State was really the team in state, Merlin Olsen was uh was on that squad. And uh so I just grew up a Utah fan my. entire life. This stadium was not what. it is today. and uh you know was. recruited by Ron McBride. I went to. Highland High School just a stones throw. away. I'd be like you plum the plum high. Mustangs, you know what I mean? You. coach coaching in Pittsburgh. >> Yeah. >> You know, but um.
>> it was just an opportunity. I I always. wanted to play for the youths. Ron. McBride offered me that opportunity. uh. two years under Ron McBride, two years. under Urban Meyer, Kyle Whittingham, my. my greatest mentor in coaching and then. so many coaches along the way have been. huge in my just preparing me for this. opportunity. >> Well, AJ's going to ask you about coach. Urban Meyer. I think he can't wait to do. that. I just want to ask you uh I want. to ask you about something you did in. March where you pledged your own money. uh to NIL, I believe. Is that accurate?
Am I reading the story right? That. >> to the University to the University of. Utah athletic department. Yeah, but. that's that's abnormal. You know that. you're supposed to you're supposed to. get it and keep it. That's what they. say. [laughter] You're it is crucial to. be frugal if you want to make it last. And you can Google all the brutal. bankrupt stories of the past. That's. real. And coaches view that that way. more than anybody. So in this modern. era, you deciding to give back to Utah. athletics is a huge deal. Should be very. celebrated. Can you just tell me why you. did that or do you feel obligated? How's.
the family feel about that? All that. type of [ __ ]. >> Well, I mean, Utah's done a ton for me. and my family. Uh my wife went here. My. entire family went to the University of. Utah. There's a lot that's that the the. Utah family has given us. And this is. not a Morgan Scally thing. I said that. early on. It's it's about Utah football. It's about the University of Utah. Uh. when I'm gone, you know, it's again, it'll still be Utah. And so we wanted to. give back and and help this community.
understand that we're in this together. I'm not going anywhere. Uh, and unless. they kick me out of here. And. >> that's unbelievable. Hey, thank you for. doing that. That's really cool to hear. because as somebody who gives away a lot. of money, um, I I think it's awesome to. be able to provide that and to, you. know, Robin Hood mentality. Let's go. ahead and keep it rolling and keep it. moving. For you to do it to your team, I. bet the locker room appreciates it. I. bet they they love it. And then whenever. you come rolling in on a little cooler,
I couldn't even imagine the. conversation. Our starting quarterback. Devin Damp Pierre put me up to that. He. He has one. He said I would never get. one. I bought one. I told him I would I. would ride it on set. So, >> have you guys raced these things yet? Have you? Uh. >> Mine's faster. I've got the updated. version. [laughter] I got I got them. trumped. >> I like that. Smart. Always want to win. I appreciate that. Maybe you should. donate a bunch Maybe we'll donate a. bunch of those to uh West Virginia. Might be able to get them a little bit. better record. Uh AJ has a question for. you about Coach Urban Meyer. >> Yeah, coach, you mentioned playing for.
coach Urban Meyer for a few years. That. was back when you were you were a DB. taking dudes heads off before like. targeting was really a thing and old. school football I know. But what was it. like I guess playing for a young urban. miner? I'm sure he was all full of piss. and vinegar just come from Bowling. Green. A young guy like making his way. to the top. What did you take from him? And also Coach Whittingham like all the. time you have had there and all the. great mentors you have like what have. you taken from each of them? >> Uh Urban was the master motivator. He. got his master's degree in psychology. I. mean he he came in and was able to.
motivate. He got guys to play into their. role to own their role and made them. feel important. Uh first year went uh. with two losses 10 and two won our first. outright conference championship in 50. years and then uh the year after went. undefeated. He was just so good at. bringing guys together. master. motivator. [snorts] Um, a brilliant. offensive mind, brilliant coach, holding. people accountable and and, uh, I loved.
my time with him. Uh, and then Kyle. obviously was my defensive quarter, was. my position coach. Um, and loved him, loved playing for him, and gave me my. opportunity to coach. Urban also gave me. an opportunity, but, uh, you know, on. Kyle's side, brilliant defense of mind. and just taught me everything about. players first mentality. It's about. players. It's not about the coaches. We. have jobs because they're players, not. the other way around. And um so so.
grateful for him. And then other coaches. along Colani at BYU as a defensive. coordinator I worked under and John Peas. and you know all these coaches that I've. had, you know, a ton of respect for. Ton. of respect for you, AJ. I mean, shoot. >> Oh, I like that. >> Uh grew out your hair for uh Pat Tman, right? >> Yeah. You you were the first one to. receive that Pat Tilman award when you. were playing, right? Just meeting his. family was awesome. Yeah. I mean, in. incredible, but you talk about. sacrificing a guy that understood.
uh what was important in life, right? >> We're coaches, you know, this but um at. the end of the day, it's a game and it's. about these young men. The greatest. title they will ever hold will have. nothing to do with football. It's father. and we want our guys to become great. dads. I love to hear that and I like. that the locker room has continued to. buy in. You having a presence in the. building before getting hired as a head. coach I think is a big deal but it. doesn't always work out. You know, sometimes there's a full turnover, a.
full shift. Conman has a question for. you about keeping the legacy alive. >> Yeah, coach, obviously you are an alum. at Utah and you know the importance of. keeping the football alumni kind of. inside the program and a part of it. How. have you kind of emphasized doing that, keeping the guys around? you know, Dalton Concade's coming back and. obviously you were on the staff when he. was there, but in situations like that, how do you kind of keep that culture the. same while, you know, evolving with the. new times of college football? >> Well, I mean, uh, I think a sign of a.
great program and a solid culture is. that your players are giving back. You. walk through our facility and there's. guys names all over the place. Uh, Alex. Smith, Zayn Beatles, uh, Jordan Gross, you name it. Steve Smith. Uh, these guys. loved their time at the University of. Utah. Our guys love their time. And. I've, you know, you want in this. transfer portal era, you want guys that. want to stay at a place that that want. to have a legacy, that want to come back.
and we've got them. And so I hired Bon. Nagi, our director of alumni relations. And we want players coming to practice, we want players coming to games, want to. take care of them uh, with our different. events. It just it means the world to. those guys to know that they're still a. part of something that we haven't. forgotten them. >> Yeah, I think it means a lot. So, at. West Virginia, there was a lot of. change, a lot of turnover, and there was. a disconnect between like my generation. and what the modern generation was. And. as I get dropped into game day, I start. realizing that all the good programs, >> like all their alumni want to be there.
>> Yeah. >> And and the teams should want their. alumni there because that's like the. greatest sign of recruiting. It's like, hey, we got you for life here as opposed. to just a couple years. And you talk. about the modern era. How do you find. out if a guy is a guy that's just. chasing a check or chasing a guy a. culture that you have? Is that easy or. hard at this stage? >> Um I in terms of getting guys from the. portal, not promising them anything. except an opportunity to compete. Uh. yeah, we're going to recruit you because. we feel we there's a need there, but you. have to be very upfront and honest with.
them about you're going to come in and. compete just like the other guys are. competing. Uh you know, go watch them. practice. I've recruited Houston Texas. for 18 years and the thing I loved about. recruiting Houston is you could watch. them practice. See how they take. feedback, see how they take getting a. ripping and how they respond. Are they. team players? So, there's a lot that. goes into it and you're never going to. be 100% correct. But there's a lot you. can do to mitigate uh mistakes. >> It feels like you've been able to. continue the culture that you've had. Congrats. That's the hardest part. Once. you lose it, you know it's dead, >> right? >> Once you lose it, it's gone forever.
>> No question. You. >> might want to keep those things around. That's a good culture. [laughter]. >> Do you uh do you ski like Whittingham. does? >> I'm not a skier. I'm a beach bum. I love. the beach. >> Yeah. >> I love Southern California, Hawaii. Uh. you know, the Polynesian guys on our our. team, I say I'm I'm shoot. I'm half. Polynesian. [laughter]. >> You're half. >> my Usos. My Yeah. >> Yeah. You go in there. Good for Utah. I. assume it will continue. We're back. [clears throat] in Utah. Last week it.
was BYU getting a showcase and uh now. they're number two team in the country. You two, Houston, and you top 15 teams. in the country. Ty Schmidt has a. question for you about where the Big 12. is in this modern world right now. >> Yeah, coach. When they first went to, you know, the new college football. playoff, it kind of largely in the media. was, hey, you have the Big 10, you have. the SEC, and then, you know, the the Big. 12 is going to be a one bid league. Even. going into this year, I think most. people that that is just like the the. common sense is, hey, the Big 12's only.
going to have one bid. But Pat mentioned. it, BYU last week, you guys, Texas. Tech's undefeated as well, and then. Houston. Does it feel like nationally. you guys are kind of starting to get. more respect and people are recognizing. that, hey, the the Big 12 isn't. necessarily just a one bit league? Like, we have multiple teams here who might. find themselves in the College Football. Playoff at the end of the season. >> I I I definitely think so. I have much. respect for the coaches around this. league and the job they do. Uh, I'm also.
a, you know, results will speak for. themselves and um, I can talk all I. want, but that's why this game is great. is you get to prove it on the field. So, I'm all about playing playing those. teams and and when you do play those. teams, guess what? You better win. And. then people will respect you and and. fortunately our our teams are. competitive and they're winning and. they're, you know, so again, I respect. the the depth and the parody not only in. the Big 12, but in college football in. general. I'm I'm excited to play Miami.
next year. I think it's game game game. two. But like just the more more we can. get that good on good and uh and you can. prove it on the field, then no one cares. about what you say. >> Oh, I'm going to put you in a terrible. spot here. >> Okay, >> thanks for coming on [laughter]. 20 2014 playoff. You're a coach. Feels. like every coach that we've talked to. has said, "Yeah, I would like an. opportunity to get into the dance. because I think if we have a chance, I. can get our team to win some games, maybe win a national championship." So, I think you as coach saying, "I'm okay.
with the 2014 playoff, a lot of people. would forgive you and say that's okay.". How do you feel about it? Because it. feels like it's been radical change to. college football over the last four. years, five years, and a lot of people. are still blown away by it. >> Well, how many how many teams in the NFL. will make the playoffs? >> Seven on each side. 14. >> 14. And that percentage of of of the. entire league is what? >> About 32. >> I know you're like, I was told math was. not going to be involved. >> So, that would be what? 42% maybe. roughly. >> So, okay. Okay. How many FBS teams are.
there? >> 130. >> How many teams make the playoff. >> right now? 12. >> What's that percentage? [snorts]. >> That's my point. >> 10. Less than 10. Nine. >> That's my That's my point. How you going. to find out until unless we we add more. people? Give the p higher percentage. If. you want to uh you know, league only. games, put bowl games at at at week zero. where you get good on good. the bull. sponsors are fired up because everyone. wants to go to those games. Uh, you. know, and people want to see good. football, you know, I the more teams.
that or, you know, some teams have. injuries and they they get a streak. late. You see it in the NFL all the. time. >> Oh, yeah. >> Right. Your wild card teams end up going. on. And so, at the end of the day, it's. proven on the field and I think you have. to have more opportunities. >> Okay. So, it sounds like you are in a. position of let's get more teams in the. dance and see who really can earn it. whenever it matters the most, which is. the end of the year. That Notre Dame. team last year, hot as a pistol coming. into the playoffs, don't make it in. there. Miami. >> Miami, >> they're hot as well. They they don't win.
the ACC. They get the last kind of uh. bid and they end up making it to the. national championship because who they. were at the time. I like your answer. Very truthful answer. Did not expect. there to be a full statistics. conversation. Grilled [laughter] it, but. I appreciate you, Coach Scally. Uh Tone. Diggs has the last question for you. about your opponent this weekend and. also what you look like. >> Yeah, coach. I I I do. Um I don't know. if you've ever been told this. Say, has. anyone ever told you you look like John. Travolta? First and foremost, >> all the time. John Travolta, Lou. Ferraro,
>> and uh oh, meet the parents. Who's that. guy? >> Ben. >> Ben Stiller. Ben Stiller. There you go. >> He's a parents guy. I like that. I like. you're so locked in. Don't even know. Uh. you are handsome, fella. >> I'm not handsome. I'm fortunate. married. Otherwise, [laughter] this. would be it'd be a rough deal. >> Hey, AJ, I don't know if you know this, I could hide behind this guy's traps. [laughter]. >> Oh, yeah. >> He's a monster defensive coach. >> Used to throw that head around. That's. why he's an all-American back there. roaming. >> That was defensive play of the year. Well, hit me. >> Oh, I didn't even think about the.
gigantic skull that is sitting right. here. Got to you got to have a big neck. to hold up the the cranium. That makes. sense, AJ. Just like you. I like that. Are we Are you Olympic lifting right. now, Steve? >> No. Now, our head strength coach, Steve. Saunders, is put me puts me to work. every morning and so I I thanks Steve. There's your there's your shout out. >> Steve, you're doing a great job. He. doesn't know what the hell he's doing in. there. Couldn't tell us what type of. lift, but he's getting after it and you. look amazing. I think the team respects. that. Tone has a question for you though. about tomorrow. Go ahead, Tone. >> Yeah. Yeah, coach. I do. Obviously, with.
all due respect to everyone else, I. would say that Connor Wegman is probably. the best quarterback that you're the. defense has probably faced so far this. season. former five-star. He's he's been. he's playing incredible. Willie Fritz. has got him kind of settled down and. kind of living up to what he was coming. out of high school. How do you prepare. for a situation like that when it is. probably the best passing attack that. you've faced so far this season? >> Uh yeah, you don't have to apologize for. that. He is he is the best that we faced. so far and uh very efficient. He's he's. competitive. That's what I love about.
him. I love tough quarterbacks. I love. quarterbacks that, you know, when they. run, they don't slide. They're going to. dip their shoulder. Now, having said. that, I tell my quarterback, "Slide, slide, [laughter] slide.". >> Yeah. >> Um, but just, you know, that we'll put. it on their shoulders. Third, third and. short, fourth and short. Hey, I'll get. it. Um, so I love how competitive he is. And, uh, but I love how competitive our. guys are. You know, uh, we have faced. great quarterbacks in the past. We'll. continue to face great quarterbacks. Uh, you know, the la our last year in the in.
the Pack 12, you had Caleb Williams, uh, Penn, Knicks. Uh, I mean, all in one. season and you're sitting there, okay, how do we do this? So, um, he's really. good at at, um, seeing coverages and. postnap movement. You get a really good. job of, uh, ultimately disguising and. and giving different looks. And Colton. Swan, our defensive coordinator, is. doing a great job. But, I'm we're fired. up. This place is going to be absolutely. rocking. It is bonkers. And I cannot. wait for Saturday night.
>> The Mus cannot wait to hang out with. them. Cannot wait to see them. They say. that's just the mighty Utah student. section. Do you know if like the M. stands for like mighty individuals. gathering higher like [laughter] you do? Do you know if that's the case or it's. just musty Utah? >> Mighty Utah students say it comes from. the the school song. No other gang of. college men. Meet us in the Mus. >> Oh, what? >> Fray the you know. >> Should I sing the song tomorrow morning? You think I should? >> You should do it, brother. I'm telling. you. >> Oh, everyone will know it. >> You're the man.
>> Thanks, brother. >> Thank you for joining us. Good luck, coach. Congrats on getting a head. coaching job. I know it's not easy. Congrats on doing it your own way. Staying loyal to the place that you. love. Can't wait to see what you do with. it all. >> Well, I I appreciate you having me on. I. respect the job that you do and it's. hard work and people don't know that, but you guys grind it out and do a great. job. Love your show. >> It's a lot better than brick laying, you. know what I mean? [laughter]. >> Hey, good luck, coach. We appreciate. you, ladies and gentlemen. Coach Morgan. Shach, [applause and cheering]. we're about to make our picks, boys. Go. ahead and get ready for that.
>> Yeah. I don't know if I guess we're not. going to get a shot of him riding away. on his. >> [laughter]. >> uh his little piece of luggage. That's. that's straight out of like Sky Mall if. any of you guys are old enough to. understand what Sky Mall was when you. used to fly in a plane and you that's. where you end up ordering all those cool. things. Yeah, you do con man. >> No, I actually don't. >> It's a It was a sick magazine in the uh. like in the East Bay time. People. ordering magazines from East Bay. I. guess. >> you could order. Let's see. Cut to it. Look at this guys. >> Coach, you how many poundies under the. hood that thing? >> That thing's rolling. That thing is. legitimately fast.
>> Yeah, it certainly is. >> Does it hold luggage? Actually, >> sorry, we missed it. >> Yeah, it holds luggage. That guy's got. the whole playbook in there. Got the. whole playbook in there. >> Why are we rolling onto the tarmac with. those? >> I'll tell you, boys. Uh, nope. Not going to get into it. Was. on a little plane last night. Just a. little bit. >> Really? >> Really? >> Yeah. >> Bumpy. >> Was Gumpy standing up in it? You're. saying like, what do you mean? Well, Gumpy could do a little one of these. [laughter] You know, that's about all we.
had. That was all we had. Just there was. a couple storms, you know, it was late. We were all tired, you know, the. internet not working. I mean, it was. >> last night, Ty, we were in one of East. >> Yeah. >> Want to be there. >> Oh, boy. >> It was the old days. It was good. It was. good to for the, you know, to humble you. a little bit. [laughter]. >> You call it. It was happy to be here. Lucky to be here. Thankful to be here. Boy, I was never more thankful than when. I touched that ground last [laughter].
night. We were uh we certainly. celebrated a lot of magic happening, including AJ, you've been seeing the. board pretty good whenever we've been. making these Door Dash picks heading. into the weekend. And we've been having. a man join us each and every week. We. don't know how he's been doing, but we. do know his vibes are immaculate no. matter where he is. Whether he's at a. practice for football or for hoops. >> Yep. Whether he's at a Washington. Wizards game or if he's with Scott. Vampel, ladies and gentlemen, a man. who's living a life like a 1980s.
professional wrestler scratching off. Utah yet again. Absolute legend. Step. for Steve. >> Steo. I don't know. I don't know if you. heard him yelling, but they were giving. you a rousing ovation when you showed up. here. >> Yeah, maybe. They're I know what they're. doing. >> What do you mean? What? >> I don't know. >> Steo one. I don't want to make sure. that's not fake enthusiast. >> That's not Friday. >> It's feel good Friday,
man. >> What's the problem? This is not feel. good. This is real feel good. >> Boys had some travel. Want to make sure. they're adapting to it. >> I tell you, the boys did live the life. of Stanford Steve a little bit. Went. from Santa Clara, San Francisco, up. there to LA. We had a blast. We had a. good time. This has been a long week, but a great week. And uh have you ever. been in a place that just lost power? like a hotel that just lost power for. like 24 hours. Have you ever experienced. that? >> No. >> Me neither. The year 2026. Had no idea. >> Generator or something.
>> One elevator and the front computer. One. computer. So if you need to get out, >> how fast did you get out of there? >> Well, actually [laughter]. boom. You know, cuz everybody wanted to. be in there. Boom. The elevator was. packed. But on that note, lucky to be. doing it. Thankful to be doing it. Very. grateful you join us every single week. for this. Let's get to the Door Dash. picks that we do every single Friday. Let's head to Paris. Now, Aaron Rogers. said he thinks the NFL has got a good. handle of the situation. We appreciate. him saying that. I assume the NFL is.
very thankful he said that. With that. being said, uh PSG's move their game off. of Sunday to Monday because of local. unrest. Are they doing that because of. football game also? So, they might feel. like they're a little bit spread thin or. do they think that there's something. happen? It's a different stadium. This. is Todd Def France. BSG has a different. stadium, I guess, that they'd be playing. this game. This is a bit alarming, but. if we know anything, the NFL will pull. this off without any hitch. Is that what. we're assuming under the. >> I would think so. I would think so. You. got the love of the French Quarter going. out to France,
>> a New Orleans. >> Yeah. Okay. I like the Saints going out. there. Florida de Lee going to be. around. They're going to feel very. comfortable. They've been out there all. week. I feel like they would have a. better grasp of what's happening over. there as opposed to just some uh social. media videos. But we've been seeing a. lot of those. I mean, you see that guy. dancing. You see that guy dance? >> Did you? Yeah. >> I was I was just amazed at the the. graffiti removal, guys. >> It's a lot of hours. >> Okay, so we're not worried about the. game going on. >> No, >> no, cuz I'm at my house. >> Play ball. >> Play ball. Okay, let's get to the picks.
then. Door Dash picks. Let's go to. Bonjour Sava. Uh, Steelers favored by. Tuah against the New Orleans Saint. Stanford Steve, who do you like? How do. you like it in this one? Uh, >> I like the better when it was three and. a half, but I'll still stick with the. Saints. Saints plus three says Stanford. Steve, uh Tone Diggs, what are your. thoughts on how the Pittsburgh Steelers. will battle against this New Orleans. Saints squad? >> I mean, I I feel pretty good. Uh so far, their rush defense has been um it can. get got. Um so I feel good in that. situation because if we run the ball,
Jaylen Warren, Rico Dattle, uh then it. sets up Aaron with a play action game. I. I feel pretty good actually. >> Okay, AJ, who do you like? How do you. like it? Steve likes the Saints plus. three. >> Yeah, Steve likes the Saints plus three. I like the Steelers minus three. uh in. Paris. I know that I like that Steelers. defense. Jaylen Ramsey huge week last. week. I think Aaron and the offense. continue to go. >> here. Vu Ali. >> Steelers. >> here vi. >> Steelers Al to the Super Bowl.
>> Valu. is we. >> got it. >> I think. >> it's Kaboli in France right now. Yeah, we got uh Can we FaceTime Cabal? >> Oh my goodness. >> Can we Can we get a Cabal. >> right now? >> Just text him. He's at the top of the. Eiffel Tower. So, this should be the. outside. >> He's going to be able to get out. >> He climbed it like Alex Honold. >> What. >> is he stuck up? I don't know if he. honled that thing on the outside or if. they just put him in a lift like the.
painters on the outside. >> Oh, sure. Yeah. >> Just kind of lifted him up here. You. know Marco? >> Yeah. >> Do you know French Marab? >> I don't. >> Oh, yeah. Well, I hope he doesn't jump. off that thing. He's doing really well. >> with a parachute. With a parachute. what. I'm saying. He's going to base jump. >> Yeah. Uh we're calling French Cabals. Just get a little bit more boots on the. ground with our Steelers correspondent. Uh ladies and gentlemen, we're not able. to get them. So, >> of course, man, >> he probably didn't pay. >> But that might have been the unrest. >> international. >> I mean, uhoh. >> What? >> Oh, yeah. That's a great point. There's. no way Cababoli would know you would.
need to get an international phone plan. >> No. >> No way. >> You don't think? >> No. Not a chance. But he's filling up. his water bottle in the Sen right now. [laughter]. >> No. No, I think. >> legit not a good idea. [laughter]. >> Oh man, >> it's cleaned up. Remember the mayor swam. in there. >> That's right. Got really sick. >> Was clean. Yeah, [laughter]. >> really really sick. >> That was a funny little story. We would. like to tell Cabo, don't be drinking.
from the scent. Okay, there got to be. fountains elsewhere. And uh have a good. time over there at Cabo. Please report. back to us on how it's been. I'll take. the Pittsburgh Steelers favored by three. as well. Colts Vikings, >> you already know. >> all these boys are trying to play to get. to another team. >> That's what's potentially happening. >> I'm expecting the best out of the Colts. Give me the Min uh Minnesota Vikings. losing. by uh at least one. I like the Colts.
straight up. I don't. >> Yeah, straight up. >> Love them. >> on the field. >> Give me the Colts straight up. Now, Adam. Shaft just reported that uh Shane Stiken. has ruled out Sauce Gardner. >> and Warren. >> and Tyler. >> It doesn't matter. It's the Ben Ballard. game, baby. >> Yeah, >> boys got to step up. >> All right, I'll take the six and a half, I guess. >> I'm with you. >> Okay, I'll take Colts plus six and a. half. You Why are you with me? >> Bounce back. >> from what? >> Uh lack of motivation being undefeated. by Minnesota. India has plenty of. motivation.
>> Okay, AJ, you with us, pal? Because you. you hexed us last week. I I was with you. until about three seconds ago. I'm. taking the Vikings here minus six and a. half [laughter] at home. I don't I don't. like that Tyler Warren is out. Sauce and. Tyler, that doesn't make me feel great. about the Colts chances. >> Well, how many games has S played for. the Colts since we traded two first. rounders for this guy? I like him. I'm. thankful he's on our team. He's a good. player. >> Kind of replace. >> Kind of need him. >> He's like two and 10. [snorts]. >> We're two and 11 in the last 13. Thank. you.
>> Yeah, he's been on the team ever since. What would you do with the Colts right. now, Stanford Steve? Gun to your head. Not. >> win this game. [laughter]. Keep. >> it. Win this game. >> And then what? Win the next one. >> And then watch the tape and get better. >> And then win the next true coach. >> Yeah, but we could do a lot of things. actually. We We can move on from all the. guys. Try to stack uh stockpile picks. for the future. >> No, they put the time in. >> into what games. >> into losing. >> No, we're going to win. >> Win what? >> Not train anybody that. >> they're going to win. >> So we're going to win the Super Bowl.
the locker room. >> I don't though. Like that's the thing. I. don't think anybody does. Neither does. the. >> Dan is unbelievable in Minnesota. >> Don't listen to these guys, Pat. They're. screwed. >> No, they're not. Now that you said that, I hate that. You know, I'm on your side. Colts are going to win the Super Bowl. We can still win 13 games this season. >> Go see rally the troops like that. I. don't. >> show it to him the night before. >> I don't think the Colts locker room. would like a war movie. I don't think. just I I don't I don't think that's. something that would happen. >> Valid point. But on that note, if you.
are into great. inspirational, heavy intense movies, I think Mosquito. Bulls for you. I watched it last night 2. hours 4 minutes. Felt like it was. perfect length. >> Yeah. >> Didn't even have to get up and piss one. time. Would have been difficult cuz. where we were, I had to get up, go all. the way down the stairs around. Everybody knows I'm getting up to with. where I was sitting. It was a It was an. interesting experience. >> Logging some hours in those movie. theaters, >> dude. Yes. Peter Burke around. Was that. a Was that a theat too? No, that was uh. the Chinese Theater, I believe.
>> Okay. Alabama the. >> Yeah, the South. I think they do. theaters from my understanding. And I. think that one has a Yeah. >> Okay. >> I'm not from the South. I don't know. Is. there anybody. >> Sab. >> Where is Sab? >> I think he left. >> film room running stairs. >> He might be. Is he going to get it right. this week? He's picked against He's got. it wrong a lot on the the the big games. Do you know that he picked Alabama? Obviously had to get Bama last week. Loved Notre Dame, but he said he liked.
BYU with the Super. >> Yeah, he got Super Dog. >> So, he kind of hedged his bet. It feels. like Sabin's kind of figuring it out. Yeah. As we get going in this entire. >> playing to the crowd. >> How do you feel about this game before. we get to the next? >> Uh, I think it sets up for an awesome. game. Uh, when you look at uh both. personnel, Houston's got difference. makers on offense, but Utah against. ranked teams in a night game here. They've won five of the last seven. The. two losses are by our combined four. points and the last two wins have been. by more than 30. So Houston's got to. deal with the mus here. It's it's a. brutal place to play at night.
>> How are those numbers, eh? Houston, you're going to have to figure that out. Let's get to back to the Door Dash. weekend slate. Bengals Ravens Ravens. favored by a point and a half. Lamar. Jackson was back on the field today. running. I don't think anything has been. uh made official. Ravens coach Jesse. Mentor on whether Lamar Jackson will. play Sunday against the Bengals. We're. we're still working on that. Reports. Jameson Hensley Mentor said that Jackson. got a pretty good amount of work in in. Friday's practice. He said it will be a. decision on how Jackson feels and how. effective he will be. Snoop Huntley has.
been in quarterback at backup, not only. this year, but through years past. He. has gotten a win and an L last week to. the Steelers. I like the Baltimore. Ravens favored by point and a half at. home. Uh I think Lamar ends up playing. even though that has not been said. Steve, you know the area well. Who do. you like? How do you like it? Yeah, when. both quarterbacks have played in this. game had absolute bangers of matchups, great games, highscoring. I'm going to. lean Ravens expecting Lamar to be back. under center. >> Okay, but if Ravens if Lamar's not. playing, would we like to take the. Bengals? >> Yes.
>> Okay, we would like to do that as well. AJ, we will open that I uh rule up for. you in this particular pick as well. >> Okay. Yeah, I'm going to take the. Bengals. I think if I think Lamar most. likely will play, but I still like the. Bengals chances here. >> Okay. So, you're on Bengals no matter. what. We're on Bengals if Lamar's not. playing. Is that agreed to by everybody? >> Agree. Stipulation game. >> The line situation with that like early. in the week it was um Ravens minus three. and a half and then Lamar didn't. practice so it was Bengals minus one and. a half and then Lamar was limited so it. was Ravens minus one and a half. So.
that's kind of where we're sitting at. right now. >> So we're doing the same thing Sportsbook. are doing. That's all we're doing. We're. just banking on whether or not he plays. Vastly different team. We'll keep an eye. on that. Giants Texans. Texans favored. by 10 and a half against JJ McCarthy in. the New York Giants. Dumpy, why is this. 10 and a half? You think that feels very. big? >> Yeah, JJ McCarthy for a full game I. think would be the concern there. >> He's not a believer. >> No. >> Nine. You are.
>> Which one are you getting? >> We know. >> He's not nine anymore. >> The Texans are turned into one of the. best teams in football again. They're. rolling right now. >> Yeah. CJ Strat has been playing. Uh. defense gets a win and the defense, you. know, was supposed to be the bellcow for. Houston, especially with Demo Ryan as. the head coach. AJ, who do you like? How. do you like in this one? >> You may be uh surprised on this one. Give me the New York Football Giants and. JJ McCarthy here to at least find a way. to to lose by 10 or less. >> 10 is a lot of points. Feels like.
Houston is a home field advantage. whenever that place is rolling. CJ Strad. has been balling. JJ McCarthy, we. haven't seen a lot of great football, but we saw 11 great minutes that. included an interception for the New. York Giants in relief at Jameus Winston. last week. Stanford Steve, who do you. like? How do you like it? >> I really like the Texans to jump them in. the first half. Texans first half is a. nice play there. Six. And uh give me the. Tit Texans. I like that. >> Okay, so you like him in the first half. and you like them in, you know, Okay, I'll take the Texans as well. Minus 10. and a half. Let's go. Bucks, Panthers.
Panthers, good football team. Baker. Mayfield back with a super duper glove. that the Tampa Bay Rays made for them. Even though they're in the World Series, they said, "We'll look out for a. quarterback." High technology out of the. baseball world going to help Baker. Mayfield or not, Stanford. Steve, >> well, righties wear gloves on their left. hand, but this is for his right hand. >> Yeah. >> So, I don't like that. Give me the. Panther. [laughter]. >> It's pretty good. He's throwing thumb. >> Pretty good, Steve. >> I facto there. I like what you did. there. Is it worth it? Go ahead, AJ. >> I like Bay getting back in the lineup.
So, give me Tampa Bay right here. I. think he finds a way to bring some. energy and I think the Tampa Bay gets a. win. Ty, tell me about the Panthers. What are they? >> That's a damn good football team. >> I'll take the Panthers favored by three. Browns favored by a point and a half. down in Tennessee. Tennessee fresh off. their first dub. Over under at 37 and a. half. >> This one's going to be a nailbiter. AJ, you like Cleveland or Tennessee to go. back to back? >> I like Cleveland on this one. >> Steo guy. Uh Tennessee.
>> What? >> Why? Why? How? What? What do you see. that we don't? >> They found something last week. >> You guys can Tennessee. >> They play the Colts. >> Yeah. >> Brownies are good as a dog. Not as. favorite. >> Monin. >> I'm taking Cam Ward against Cleveland. Browns defense. >> Browns defense is different on the road. >> Mhm. >> Not with Monin. Mon. >> I'm taking a Browns. What What did you. just say about the Browns as a favorite. versus dog? >> Brownies are good as a dog. No, it's a. favorite. >> What? So Monin just becomes like a a.
pumpkin. >> Monin shows up in his car hearts when. he's a dog. He shows up in a suit when. he's a favorite. >> No. >> Whoa. Whoa. He's got that. >> Oh, I'll take that big hoodie on. >> I'll take the bronze. Minus one and a. half. Uh Titans got us got us uh to fire. our GM. So Chris Boward's a good man. I. like what the future looks like for us. Dolphins versus the Jets. Jets favored. by four and a half. Let's go back to. Gums. Gumps. How do you feel about the. Jets being favored by four and a half. against your squad?
>> Jaylen Wright back, Caleb Douglas back, star wide receiver, rookie out of Texas. Tech. This is the one. This is the one. right here. >> You like the Dolphins in this game? >> Outright. This is the one. >> He never says that. >> One and0. Pat, did you see the stats? >> Huh? >> Uh the time of teams leading this season. >> with these two squads. >> Uh just one of the squads and Gumpy. wasn't too happy about it. Do you know. the Dolphins have not led yet this. season? >> No. So they're different. >> No, they led last week. They led last. week. >> Well, the holes holes video zero.
>> Okay. Yeah. So you guys suck. >> Well, I mean the Jets are still the. Jets, you know. >> I don't know. Aaron Glenn's fresh out of. this one. Remember? I like this one. >> Was he like the worst coach of all time. before and after half or something? Is. that real? I swear I saw that. >> pretty much. Yeah. >> Yeah. I don't know what this about. Yeah. I don't know what this is about. Who do you like? How do you like it? >> Dolphins off a bye-week win on the. field. Most time with the lead this. season, 49ers, four hours. Uh, least. time with the lead, Dolphins zero. Jeez.
Louise, these guys haven't had a good. time yet. You like the Dolphins? >> I do. >> Off a buy. AJ, who do you like? How do. you like the team that's never led for a. second this season as we enter week. seven or New York Football Jets, which. everybody thinks a little bit better. than what we expected? >> You could say that the Miami Dolphins. are due to not only hold a lead, but to. win a game. But I'm going to take the. Jets minus four and a half at home here. I'll take the Jets minus four and a half. as well. Ner's Falcons. Falcons debuted. a new logo. Everybody was saying,
>> uh, hey, that that that looks uh like. something else. I guess those killers. are always going to be difficult anytime. you have any really uh stringent type. lines, but. >> nonetheless, Niners fresh off a huge dub. on Monday Night Football, favored by two. and a half in hot Atlanta. Steve, who do. you like? >> Yeah. Uh Niners as crawling it could be. as an undefeated team into the bye-week. next week. Pretty banged up watching. them uh on the field the last quarter. Monday night. Falcons big spot. I'm. taking the Falcons. >> Falcons plus two and a half. AJ, who do.
you like? >> I'm going to take the Niners here. >> Is Mike Evans playing? What's up? No, Mike Evans. >> What's the update on him? >> There hasn't really been a update as far. as what it is or how long, but he will. be back at some point, but the extent is. not known yet. I'll take the Falcons. plus two and a half as well. Broncos. Cardinals. I'll take the Broncos favored. by four and a half against the Arizona. Cardinals. Got a huge win last week. against Rams. Steve, who do you like? >> If not now, when? Broncos. >> AJ.
>> Broncos. >> Rams. Raiders. Rams favored by three and. a half. Raiders have been close. Been. close. Been close. Rams just lost to the. Cardinals. They got a lot of injuries. Give me the Raiders plus three and a. half at home. Stanford. Steve, who do. you like? >> Same. >> AJ. >> Rams. >> Packers. Lions. Lions favored by three. at home. Who do you like, AJ? >> I like the Packers. Can't believe their. dogs on the road here. >> Who do you like, Steo? >> Lions. >> Give me the Lions as well, just cuz it. doesn't make much sense. You would think. the Packers would be the winner there. And then Chief Seahawks on Sunday night.
AJ, who do you got? >> Seahawks. >> Steo. >> Chiefs is still the Chiefs if you ask. me. I'll take the Chiefs as well. And. that was our Door Dash pickum as we head. into another fantastic weekend of ball. That's Stanford. Steve, we will be live. from Utah tomorrow 9:00 a.m. for College. Game Day. Be a friend. Tell friends. something nice might change your life. Here's to the busing boys. All right. >> Nice. >> Feel like I hit it. >> Oh yeah. >> We're still live. We're still live. Okay. So what lines did we think stunk. in there? We thought the. >> Niners. The Ners. >> Ners Atlanta. Okay. >> Mike Evans. Mike Evans was a huge piece.
of that offense. I mean a he became a. very pivotal part of that offense. And. then after Mike Evans's injury, did. Shanahan decide to just coast through. that game with the Commanders or were. they really in trouble because they. didn't have Mike on the offensive side? I think it's Mike. I I personally think. it's Mike. I don't You You said they got. a bye-week next week. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. I mean, this feels like a Falcons. game if they could potentially give it. >> I think Debo comes back after the buy, too. >> Go. >> Christian Kirk back this week, though. I. think that could be huge.
>> He hasn't played yet this season. I. think that I think he's getting in the. pain on Sunday. >> Early lean. >> Do I go with the Niners favored by two. and a half on home dogs? What are home. dogs this year, Tone? Really good, aren't they? They were uh and then the. last [laughter]. the last two weeks um week six they were. three and five, week five they were one. and five. So four and 10 in the last two. weeks. >> Okay. So home dogs not necessarily. story. >> There was that week that they went six. and two and then they went um three and.
three the week after that. Um so yeah. early yes they were good but the last. two weeks have been. >> getting taken out behind the shed and. old yell. >> Okay so let's go to that's a different. type of dog. Hungry dog or dead dog is. certainly two different dogs. Let's talk. about the dog pound. Favored by one and. a half in Tennessee. You said that. stinks. Cleveland should be favored by. more. Is that what you're saying? >> I believe so. I mean, look what they've. done. >> and one and a half tight win. >> What is it? >> What do you know? >> What do we know? >> I mean, that's just how it how it goes.
Like, yes, the Browns the record. Four. and two is great, but they've been in. dog fights. No pun intended. Literally. every single game. They've won every. single one of those games in the fourth. quarter. But that's a that's an NFC AFC. North guy talking about another team. Cleveland. Yeah. Not just an AFC North. team. It's Cleveland. Steve, >> you taking the Titans here would be the. most Steve betting thing to do. >> I I have taken the Titans and the. Dolphins every single week. >> Exactly. >> Back door back door being open. And. they've been not as bad as you would.
think. The record's bad. ATS. >> You're saying they've been snooping in. the back door. >> Oh yeah, both of them are. I mean, I. like that. >> precise drives. >> Backdoor people are a big time story, aren't they, AJ? >> They are, especially for Stanford. >> Well, and also religions. I think. there's some different religions that. love the back door throughout the entire. >> day. Yeah. >> That's what I've heard. Yeah. But this. would definitely count. Back door covers. definitely count. Definitely count. All. right, Steo, we appreciate you. Thank. you for joining us. I think I'm going to.
get out of here, too. >> Yeah. >> Take a nap. >> Get a rest. Get some rest, man. >> I found a nap. >> No, we got to do a Ram truck, though. Yeah, >> we got Do you want to do Ram truck with. us? >> We got college football. >> Got hoops. >> I got hoops. >> We got hoops. >> You guys doing it? You guys doing. college football live this week? >> Live live, I believe. >> Wow. >> You got hoops. >> Look at that. >> Did he just toothpick? Get a [laughter]. little snack before college football. live. >> Hey, will you drop a Hey, you with that. toothpick on College Football Live. >> See, Steve, >> that's the bad guy, not the other guy.
>> See, Steve. >> All right. before we get the Ram trucked. uh to wrap this week up. >> Last night was cool, AJ. >> Was it? >> That was cool. >> Yeah. >> So, how long was like how long was your. whole red carpet situation? I'm sure it. was cool to actually see all see. everybody. >> Okay. So, it was great to see the first. time I've seen all these guys, most of. them since Australia. I mean, when. you're in Australia, anytime you travel. that far away, you're kind of your own. community, you know, just in a different. place. So, the amount of time I've spent. I spent with these guys in the twoe.
period was immense. like we were around. each other all day, every day, watching. them, learning from them. Uh the amount. of hospitality that they showcased to me. through it all, teaching me. That's Tom. Francis right there. He and I had a good. time a couple different evenings. together. I mean, just learning about. him and his story. He's one of the most. talented people on Broadway in England. What's that called over there, Ty? >> Oh god, I know it usually, but it's. escaping me right now. >> It has a great name. It's a super He's a. monster over there. I mean, he could. sing his ass off. He's an incredible. talent. And then Bill Scarsgard,
obviously his family is royalty in the. movies, but he's been training to act. since he's what, like six, seven years. old or whatever. It's like he's a beast. Nick Gson came straight from the He-Man. movie where he was the star of it to a. mosquito bowl, so he was incredibly. jacked whenever he was there. And then. Ray Nicholson, one of the kindest human. beings, obviously his dad, Jack, but he. played football in high school. He loves. the United States of America. So the way. he was viewing like this role was as if, you know, this was the biggest thing. he's ever done or will ever do. And they.
kind of all viewed it that way because. of how true and how somber and how real. the story is. And then Peter Berg and. the guy with the long hair there next to. him, Alex. And then this right here is. Buzz Bisinger. Buzz Bisinger just had. hocas on. Little bit of a surprise. Did. not expect just hocas out of Buzz. Binger. >> Buzz Bizinger. >> right here. Yeah, this is Buzz Binger. right here. And this is. >> And then this is Ezra. He also wrote. Friday Night Lights. This man right. here. Buzz Bizinger wrote Friday Night. Lights. He wrote Mosquito Bowl. He has a. fantastic brain. I'm telling you, he was.
wearing Hoka shoes last night. That was. a massive massive surprise. I I mean, he. >> What color were they? >> Black. He He wears a lot of black. But. he has some Jean Simmons Rockstar boots. that I've seen him wear just casually to. dinner on a Tuesday in Australia that I. was, you know, gassing up everybody. like, "Wait till you see Buzz on this. red carpet. Wait till you see Buzz on. this red carpet." Came in wearing Hocus. still looked incredibly clean. And I. asked him, I'm like, "Man, I thought we. were going to get some some real B." He.
goes, "My knees hurt." I'm like, "Huh?". [laughter]. Hey, you got to do what you got to do. He's a phenomenal brain. Uh, right here. is Ezra. This is Ezra Emanuel, Arie's. boy. He's one of the EPs of the movie. He lived in Australia alongside Peter. Burke for seven months putting this. entire movie together. Um, yeah. So, it. was just it was outrageous to see. everybody. It was really cool to be a. part of watching yourself play a. character, especially that serious of a. character. Like a DI in the Marines is.
the symbol of discipline in life. Like. everything about them, the way they. operate, the way they talk is just like, "Hey, we need you to be a better person. and a better marine now. I don't have. time for it." And there is zero. [ __ ] There is just 100% of a goal. of making you the best warrior you could. possibly become. And a lot of Marines. obviously they view what a Marine is by. what their DI was to them. So getting an. opportunity to play the R. Lee who.
played in full metal jacket, he was a. drill instructor. A lot of people that. do it in these movies like Pat Gartland. who uh is in a few of these photos, first sergeant Gartland who friend of. mine since high school, he was an actual. DI. He was in the movie as a DI which. was awesome. So, we have some legitimacy. there. But normally a drill instructor, Here's Pat right here. >> There he is. >> Good plum boy. >> Hell yeah. >> Good plum boy. 20 plus years in the. Marines, eight years as a DI, three and. a half years as DI in Paris Island. Those are more than dog ears because. you're sleeping like two two hours a.
night. You're journaling every single. minute of the recruit's life. You have. to be the picture of what the Marines. are all the time we are in there. So, playing a drill instructor with no. actual drill instructor experience was I. knew immediately upon being offered that. how crazy that is and how like, hey, good [ __ ] luck, buddy. You know, cuz. these are these are the baddest of bad. And then you go with the greatest. generation, which is World War II era. It's like this dude that I was playing.
is a [ __ ] one of the baddest dudes to. ever walked this earth. And I'm very. grateful to uh Chief Warrant Officer. Yarro down at Paris Island who set up an. entire um kind of experience for me to. see the DIs, experience life with the. DIs, live with the DIs down there for a. bit. So I can kind of understand even. though modern era drill instructors. versus World War II drill instructors, vastly different uh things, but still. the same mantra. So yeah, just getting a. chance to do it was a huge honor. And.
then last night getting a chance to see. all the boys and then watch the movie. for the first time was a bit of an. emotional journey for me. And uh I think. a lot of people will experience that. And um I think the movie is so [ __ ]. good. I I think it's a real I'm very. proud that I can say I'm a part of the. movie. And uh yeah, I didn't know how I. was going to feel watching myself and I. didn't want to kill myself. So that's. good. From my understanding that's a. good thing [laughter]. watching themselves act. So the movie's. good though, man. It's a Peter Berg did.
all the Peter BS. >> I mean, you know, >> Peter Berg when it comes to like war. movies and football and you combine. those. I mean, it's kind of his thing, isn't it? >> Yeah. And the sound I got to meet the. head sound people. It's like, wait till. you hear the sounds like of war. And. there's a couple scenes that are the. sound is one of the most important parts. of the entire scene. And it's like it's. just it's really well done, man. It is a. really really well done movie. And uh I.
can't believe I'm in it. I still can't. believe I'm in it. And I hope everybody. gets a chance to watch it. And remember. that there's some badass Americans now, and there have been throughout history. that are trying to make the world a. better place, or at least they're being. told what they're doing is a better. place. and they sign up to do stuff that. uh the amount of courage it takes is. something I've never been able to. experience, but I think it's on great. display throughout this movie on what it. takes to serve the United States of. America, to be a member of the Marines, and to know that it's much bigger than.
you, even if life can seemingly be hell. at the moment. in this football game. Uh, the mosquito bowl that took place on. Christmas Eve 1944 in Guadal Canal, the. basis of the entire book, watching the. movie right next to First Sergeant. Gartland, who I forget how many tours he. has, five or six. He's been in it, you. know, 22 years as a Marine. Marines. fight. I mean, that's what Marines do. They get sent over. That's her entire. purpose. He said that the thing that got. him most was the football game because. he remembers being over there in the.
middle of the hell in the middle of the. war and then sports have a chance to. like really bring it some of your only. fond memories on tour or in war are. whenever there's like a distraction of. some sort and sports are normally that. and the mosquito bow the way the war is. shot the war scenes are crazy nice. reminder of what war actually is and. what happens whenever we talk about it. and then the football scene in the. brotherhood and the emotion. It's like I. think Peter really [ __ ] did it. I I.
think he I was crying at the end. I was. crying at the end. Crying fine. >> for most people, you know, as I learned. about him. >> And uh Yeah, it was crazy doing the. whole red carpet thing. I don't do a lot. of those, AJ. I I don't do a lot of red. carpets. >> If you're going to do it, though, this. is the one to do. >> Yeah. Worth it for this. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Football and America. >> Yeah. >> Was it a cool like a Hollywood. afterparty situation? There was an. afterparty. We went there. They they. souped up um this I I think I guess it. was called Sunset Towers is the place it.
was called. It was right near Comedy. Store right down the road. Okay. >> We walk in there. Mosquito Ball stuff. They have my photo a big photo of all. the actors in character along the wall. They decorate. It was. >> Yeah. I mean there was afterparty. There. was premiere. There was red carpet. It. was in the Chinese theater. There was a. Q&A afterwards. >> with uh the four lads that were in it. with Peter Berg and the head of sound. and then Peter Berg uh after about 10. minutes, 20 minutes of Q&A uh calls. everybody that was in the movie down. So. I get called down there. I'm standing.
down in the front of this room as. they're talking about it all. It was it. was a cool experience. Lucky to do it. Thankful to do it. And uh Peter Berg's. the man. I I will always appreciate the. opportunity to be a part of his movie. Legit legit legit. Now, there's a couple shots I don't remember. being the way as close to these guys. faces as I was. >> You know, there's a shot there's a shot. from over I think Scarsgard's shoulder. with my face.
>> right in his [ __ ] face, just so. disgusted by everything. And I was like, man, I was really in there, you know? I. was I was really in there. So, I think. what happened was I I kind of went into. a little bit of uh just like I did when. I was punting like because I didn't. remember a lot of the stuff that was out. there. I think I kind of blacked out out. there which I guess would be considered. uh in the zone. >> Yeah. Got lost in the character. That's. a good sign. >> Yeah, I thought so. I I'm telling you, as I watched it, I didn't hate me as. much. And uh I was very happy that.
nobody got up out of disgust and left. during my Porter movie. So, >> I hope everybody gets a chance to watch. it. I hope you ever an option? Was that. like all of a sudden your scene comes up. and you see 35 people get up and leave? Like I don't [laughter] I that's. probably not I doubt that happens. >> I was just trying to think like worst. case scenario. What what's worst case. scenario here. >> where they boo they start booing like. when you go into [laughter] a monologue. >> Yeah. What if I ruin the movie? Like. that was the the the thing is like what. if I ruin a movie? And then I'm like. well Peter Berg's not going to let me. ruin the movie. Like.
>> yeah, >> Peter Berg is only going to put me in if. if I'm worth a [ __ ] He's not like. giving me a hand out here putting me in. a movie that Netflix everybody has. invested so much into. I mean, this is a. Netflix movie that's going to be in. theaters for multiple weeks. That's very. rare, you know, like that is very rare. And I think it's because they want. people to see it on the big screen. I. think they want them to feel it because. it is foreshoot war movie. I mean, we're. in their tone. I know you love war. movies, Ty. I know you love the way. Peterberg works. I think this is a uh I. think it's going to scratch. >> I think it's going to scratch a lot of.
itches after uh getting a chance to see. it for the first time. Tashid. >> Yeah, I I don't doubt it. I I mean, I. was, you know, obviously I'm close to it. cuz you were in it and, you know, you've. talked about the process and everything, but uh yeah, I I've pretty much liked. everything Peter Berg's done going back, you know, like 20 plus years now. And. then when I saw the the first trailer, it was kind of it just cemented. everything. It's like, you know, I'm I'm. a big history guy, too. So, anything. World War II, um, I wish they would make. more of these because it seems like. there are so many stories that are kind.
of untapped and there are so many crazy. situations that have kind of been lost. to history that people don't know about. But, um, I'm I'm incredibly excited to. watch this and it's it's sweet, you. know, hearing your experience with it. and how you thought you performed in the. movie and that, you know, you were like, "Hey, I I didn't actually suck in this.". Um, so. >> no. I mean, like you like you said, like. you said, you're not getting any. handouts. If you would have sucked, uh, you would have been probably pretty. >> I don't want to say down in the dumps, but I think a lot of your stuff would.
have got left on the cutting room floor. And if it didn't last night, that. definitely means you don't suck. So, uh, and it's also really cool that this is. going to be in theaters for a couple. weeks because like you said, that's. that's not common for for Netflix. movies. So them understanding like, hey, war movie, the way this is shot, like. you do need to see this on the biggest. screen possible, uh, or at least have. the opportunity to do so. So, I'm jacked. for it. I'm glad it went well, and I. can't wait to watch it. >> Well, thank you to all of you guys for. being so supportive for me through the.
entire process. It's a whole new world, you know, the acting world. And uh yeah, I don't know how much of it I'm going to. be doing cuz it takes up a lot of time. And I love what I get to do for a living. with you guys in sports, but honor of a. lifetime to be in that. And uh I can't. wait for people to see it. And I assume. there's going to be a lot of people that. say I'm the worst part of the movie. Uh. because that kind of be is a part of it. As long as you watch it, I'll be happy. And I think as long as you remember that. is a true story. Like this [ __ ] actually. happened in our history. And it's a a. nice little reminder. Now, speaking of a.
reminder, every week we like to give a. reminder of what football is, don't we, AJ? >> Oh, yeah. >> What's football? >> It's physical, tough, gritty, >> violent. >> Yeah. Yeah. Morgan Scally still looks. like he could hit somebody. Those traps. >> He is jacked, >> dude. That's a hoodie. I was going. through a thick hoodie, too. His traps. were just sitting up there on those. things. Looked like a couple slabs of. meatloaf up on top of his shoulders. Guy. was an old man. Yeah, he was awesome. >> Yeah, he loved ball. He likes. physicality. Remember, it's right here.
in there. >> A lot of words. >> Yeah, a. >> lot of words in there. >> But it looks cool. It's a really cool. design on the back. >> Yeah, it's a cool hoodie, too. It made. me feel good. Um, and me wearing blue in. here. I didn't even think about that as. I got dressed this morning. Uh, it's. not, you know, Bloods and Crips, but is. BYU Utah. That's right. >> So, uh, I think that that was a good. change for me to make with coach, especially as they were incredibly. hospitable. But football is a tough. sport. Always has been, always will be. It's time to showcase some of the. biggest hits we seen last week with Ram.
truck. [groaning]. >> That's me actually driving there. That's. real footage. You know, whenever you hit. the gas pedal of a Ram truck, there's. only one sound you hear, AJ, and that's. because that engine's ready to hum for. you and get the job done for you. It's. ready to pull. It's ready to move. It's. ready to groove. That's a Ram truck. And. whenever somebody gets absolutely. dismantled, we say they got ram.
truck. >> Let's go to the first quarter of Monday. Night Football. How about Mustafa saying. hello? Sorry, Mufasa. No, Mustafa saying. hello to Stfan Diggs. How you doing? Meet the paint in the dirt. Boom. Boom. Bent Stefan Diggs finger back. Stfan. would still have an incredible uh game. Mustafa set the tone early here AJ with. a ram truck right there. >> It's all Mustafa does. Like watch it. watch a Niners game. I can't wait like. to especially this week. He is.
everywhere. You can see him breaking on. the ball before it even leaves the. quarterback's arm. So yeah, this guy. will continue to do this all year long. >> Oh, funny you say that he continues to. do that. Let's go to another Mustafa. hit. Hey, running back. How's life? >> Jesus. >> I'm going backwards now. I'm going I'm. running forward now. I'm going. backwards. Why must. he come? >> This guy brings the absolute lumber. >> Comes from 15 yards deep on that one. too, Pat. Like he just comes like a. lightning bolt out of nowhere.
>> Yeah. No fear will shoot every single. time. He He Now there's a couple helmet. to helmets that people are going to be. upset about, but that's on a running. back absolutely laying the wood. We love. the way Mustafa plays Football Con, man. >> Yeah, I love it. And uh Bruce said this. and I can also co-sign it. He said you. could hear it on the field. cuz we could. damn near hear that one up in the booth. on Monday night. He was flying all over. the place. >> Let's go to the beginning of this play. And let's turn up the sound a little. bit. Maybe. >> no volume on it just there. >> No volume. You know what the sound is? The sound is exactly what it sounds like.
right here. Ram truck. Boom. >> We We like Mustafa. You might be a Ram. >> truck. >> Hall of Famer. Let's stick with that. game with another San Francisco 49er. defender. Fred Warner flying around. still doing it. >> This is awesome. [laughter]. Fred Warner says, "Yeah, how about you. take a seat, lose your helmet, and I'm. going to pop right back up, talk [ __ ]. and do it again." Now, Fred had a couple. helmet to helmets. This certainly wasn't. that. This was a chest to helmet just.
demolishing another grown man. The San. Francisco 49ers defense thumps people, AJ. And they've been doing it since. training camp, we were told by John. Lynch. >> Yeah, they have. You better have your. head on a swivel if you are playing. offense against this Ner's D. and Fred. Warner. I feel like three, four, five, six times a game we're seeing shots like. this. >> Yeah, it they really bring it. I mean, why doesn't everybody just hit everybody. as hard as they possibly can on the. defensive side? AJ, why isn't this. everybody's strategy? >> That is a great question, but it is kind. of like a contagious situation. You got.
guys like Fred Mustafa, like when you. see it happening, you think, okay, this. is the standard. This is what we're. doing. I am trying to end this person's. life and take the football every single. play. >> And if you're a defense coordinator, you. love you got a bunch of dogs that want. to hunt out there. Raheem Morris has got. the boys buzzing and Kyle Shanahan from. our understanding expectation is that is. exactly who we are. Talk to Trenton. Williams on Monday Night Countdown. He. stopped by and he said tough is just. like yeah we're tough like that you're. that's who we are. They got to win a. Super Bowl still. That's all anybody's. going to ask if they're able to get it.
done. Defensive side mustwatch. television with the hits that they have. some helmet to helmets. >> I like that the ref just picked it up. there. >> Awesome. Me too. >> Picked it up. say. football. >> It was cool. >> Yeah, we'll put that away. Let's go. ahead and do it. Did not expect that on. Monday night football either. Like a. one:00 game, regional, you know, we'll. pick that up. Prime time game. Say, yeah, what do you [ __ ] want him to. do? It's like, well, have we ever asked. that question before? No. But we're. doing it now. I was suspended last week.
What are they going to do? Suspend me. again? I don't think so. Let's put it. down for the good of all. Let's move. forward. I actually like it. Commanders. fans didn't love it. And something I. didn't love. And I didn't I don't like. how this snuck on. I'm seeing this. This. snuck on to the Ram truck thing. This. wasn't a truck. This wasn't a truck. This was somebody taking care of. somebody. >> Oh jeez. >> I don't know if you saw this. >> AJ, did you see this? >> Oh yeah. Unfortunately, [screaming]. >> I mean just no urgency at all either. >> Hold on though. The screen rattled on. that. >> Yeah. Look. Watch. >> Whole stadium rattled.
>> My foot. My foot. My foot. My foot. >> I was going 100 miles an hour. H how. come I don't know the particular driver. there, but the lack of urgency to get. Buddy who was hurt in the leg off the. wall. >> For real. You're right. That's. [laughter] what I'm saying. >> Is a bit surprising. Like, is he yelling. right there? >> Rich, put a hit out on him. >> I don't know if this is what we should. be. [groaning and screaming]. [laughter]. >> Let me go ahead. We got you, bud. Shut. up.
>> Yeah, you're fine. >> I don't like that this made its way. I. don't think this is a Ram truck. I think. this is a Ram [ __ ] You know, >> Oklahoma State trader doesn't seem too. concerned about him either. [laughter]. >> He's looking up at the jumbotron. laughing. Look at us. We just ran into. the jumbotron. All right. Um, [laughter]. let's get out of here. Thank you to Ram. Trucks. >> for providing incredible trucks and. allowing us to celebrate massive hits. Foxy, I don't like that that one made it. on there. I thought we had a discussion. that that was not happening. I see a. week on the road has led Foxy uh to get.
to a point we're saying, "Fuck it. I'll. just put bad driving on there." Thank. you, Foxy, for doing that. >> Yeah, you got it. You know, I had that. play on the card all week long, hoping. that it would get pulled up at some. point. I thought, what better way than a. Ram truck with a golf cart. >> Yeah, cuz they didn't truck that wall. like a Ram truck would, but they. certainly let old buddy feel it with his. foot and his ankle and whatever he was. injured. And their sense uh their sense. of urgency is something that's going to. be talked about for a long, long time. That was Pat. This the pack camera here. >> There it is. >> Okay.
>> This is the Gumpy camera here. >> Baby. >> Hello. >> This is the guest camera here. >> And this is the wide shot right here. And this is set up by an incredible. group of people that travel every single. place that College Game Day goes and. Monday Night Football goes. I'd like to. say thank you to them. Thank you for. setting us. >> Great work, team. We appreciate the hell. out of you guys. Uh we're here in Utah. for tomorrow's College Game Day. 9:00. a.m. Eastern time, 7:00 a.m. local here. in Mountain time as the Utah Youths host. the Houston Cougars in another.
spectacular Saturday of college football. kicks off. Lucky and thankful to be a. part of it. AJ, thank you for traveling. out to the Thunderdome, brother. Great. work this week. >> Thank you. And I just thinking this. Utah, I think the Mus is going to want. to, you know, supersede what BYU did. last week when it comes to fandom. I I. would believe. >> I think there is a little bit of a. competition between Utah and BYU and. everything. Uh, I expect College Game. Day to be electric like it is every time. it's here, but maybe a little extra. sauce after what we experienced last. week just down the road at Provo. Talks. the table. Good work this week, boys.
>> Appreciate it, brother. You, too. >> One half of the hammer done. >> Cowboys AP Tone. Good work this week, pal. >> Thanks, brother. You. >> really good work. I appreciate the hell. out of you, boys. Behind the glass, other than Fox, he chooses to put that. West Virginia golf on there. Great work. uh this whole week, boys. really good. job. I appreciate the hell out of you. guys. >> Good week, boys. >> They work, boys. >> Ty, who's winning the World Series just. before we go? >> Uh, I I hate to do I want the Brewers to.
win. I think the Rays are going to. >> Okay. Hey, Gumpy, good work this week, pal. You did incredible work. >> Good work, everybody. >> Uh, I just want to let you know you've. you've been a hell of uh a road dog. alongside these journeys, and I know you. probably get a little bit tired, especially whenever a hotel loses power. for 24 hours and uh kind of does. everything. But thank you, Gumpy. You're. the man. >> Thank you, brother. Pleasure to do it, man. Lucky to do it. >> Good luck to your Dolphins. Gump Gumpy's. been Gumpy's been a great asset here out. in LA. Feels like he's a West Coast boy, you know, or out here.
>> Yeah, he's acting a little different. It's good to see. We went and got our. haircut at Super Cuts yesterday. >> Nice MVP treatment. >> Uh I think that's Sports Clips, but uh. Super Cuts was great. That's my man. Arnold right there. Arnold uh Arnold was. a professional. Arnold was an absolute. professional. He asked me if I had any. plans for the night. I wasn't going to. tell him I had a movie premiere that I. was going to. Didn't want to put any. pressure on him. Just told him me and. the wife going to get some dinner. tonight. So, you know, so no big deal. Arnold was casual. Did a great job.
Shout to Supercuts over there in Marina. Del Rey area. I appreciate their. hospitality. And uh Nordstrom Rack got. me all hooked up. I out there, I'll tell. you, I need to start learning more. languages. >> I need to start learning more languages. And I'm I'm gonna start Rosetta Stone. today. >> In America, you need to start learning. more languages. [laughter]. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> We're a melting pot. We're a melting. pot. >> You're right, Tone. We are. >> All right.
[laughter]. >> Keep my mouth shut. >> I want to hear. >> Have a good weekend. >> Let's have a good weekend. Actually, [laughter] let's have the greatest. weekend of all time. I mean, if it. wasn't for all of you, [laughter]. >> we wouldn't be able to do any of this. Thank you all so much. Hey, they're. saying our field pass on Monday Night. Football did terrible. I'm I'm reading. that. You guys reading that? >> Yeah, I read somewhere in there. >> We'll work. We'll get to work. >> We'll get to work. We got some time. We. got some time. On that note, I had a.
blast doing it. >> Thanks a lot. >> Yeah, I think Yeah, it might have been. over. [laughter]. >> We'll get to work more on it. I did I do. like that I opened my um my ex uh last. night after the movie premiere and one. of the headlines uh from from my search. was Pat McAfei's allcast ass basically. I'm like thanks X. Thanks man. I. appreciate that. It's really nice of. you. We'll continue to work. We'll. continue to try to be an asset to ball.
We think we'll get it figured out. We we. think we'll get it figured out. I got. nothing but faith in us. But we do know. college football casts are coming right. around the corner as well. Football is. in the middle of an absolute prime time. as teams are heating up legacies and. some teams are heating up sh who's who. each week. We never know. That's what. it's all about. That's why we play the. games. >> We love all of you. >> Uh also got to talk Angel Reese crushing. it.
>> Yeah, >> I think she's winning Atlanta WNBA. title. That's awesome. Good for women's. sports. Good for the WNBA. Good for MLB, good for the NHL, good for NFL, good for. everything. NBA's tipping off in a big. way. Sports are the greatest. Let's. continue to enjoy them all. Have the. greatest weekend of your life. Be a. friend. Tell a friend something nice. It. might change your life. We're in this. thing together. Team on me. Team on. three. For the good of all, baby. 1 2 3. Goodbye.
