Football is absolutely magical and today. is the day that we can say that the NFL. is officially kicking off its 2025. season. Here we go. Now, today, just. like many years in the past, this season. will start right here at a place that. has been honoring legends since 1963.

This is the home of the Pro Football. Hall of Fame. It is raining and we. clearly don't have speakers for the. crowd, but what we do have is an. excitement level beyond belief because. football is back in our life for real. Tonight, Harball will be on one. sideline. MCDC will be on the other. And. I believe we have a little bit of. breaking news for the Detroit Lions fans. tonight. Starting for the Detroit Lions. According to source,

>> Kyle Allen will be getting the start, but we will be seeing Henden Hooker from. what we have been told. Now, for the. Chargers, we do not have any inside. source says, but as that information. rolls out today, we will certainly keep. everybody updated. Tonight's game will. not be littered with superstars. It will. not be the guys that we know on every. single part of the team, but it will be. two NFL helmets battling in front of a. building that celebrates greatness from. beginning to end in a town that loves.

ball. Loves ball. We've uh only been able to. be here for like the last 18 20 hours or. so, but as you drive through this town, it literally emanates ball. Everybody. here loves ball. Everybody's committed. to the Hall of Fame and there's actually. telephone pole wires that hold up that. are two uprights field goals. This. entire city is committed to ball and. we're lucky to be here. It's not just. me. Obviously, it's obviously the boys. The toxic table is here at Boston.

never actually walked through and had a. tour of the Hall of Fame. It kind of. seems like something if you're a fan of. the NFL, you absolutely need to do, you. know, at one point in your life. So, really looking forward to that. Obviously, you know, all the all the. fans out here uh braving the weather, but let's be honest. I mean, kicking off. the NFL season, this is football. weather. >> Yeah, you're damn right. You got. football weather today. >> And you know, it was like 145° yesterday. up there in Lrobe, Pennsylvania for the. Pittsburgh Steelers training camp.

Okay. Now, fun fact that we learned from. Jim, president of the pres uh Pro. Football Hall of Fame. Whenever they. were creating the Pro Football, there's. some Yenzas here for sure. >> There's definitely some interest here. Whenever they were going to create this. Hall of Fame back in the '60s, 1963, it. was either going to be placed in LRO, Pennsylvania, or it was going to be in. Canton, Ohio. So, we just found that out. this morning. Very cool football trip. that we have been on over the last two.

days. And obviously, you can't come to. this state without mentioning a man. who's a former president of this state, a college football national champion. with the Ohio State Buckeyes. >> Ladies and gentlemen, Hawk, >> the alltime tackle for the Packers. We would not have done that for. this particular show, but we appreciate. that you are doing as such. The state of. Ohio has been great to us. Uh feel a lot. of kinship with the state of Ohio as. people that grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Obviously, I go to school. at West Virginia. These hills, these. people very similar. Everybody loves. ball. AJ, I think that is one of the. fabrics of the state of Ohio and why the.

Pro Football Hall of Fame in Ohio. seemingly makes the most sense. >> Yeah, it makes sense. I think I mean. look at like Ty said, this is this is. football weather for people that. actually truly care about football, not. casuals. Yeah, they're here around the. set, but I think they would be here. either way going around checking out the. festivities because this truly is the. start of. I would imagine. there's people rep like there's people. from every NFL city here. Don't you.

think? I would imagine this weekend's so. big for that. >> Last night outside of the hotel there. was representatives getting autographs. from every team. People travel in here. People do an annual trip out to the Hall. of Fame. I'm learning as we go. This is. my first time here other than whenever. we played a game here and it got. cancelled. >> Sure. >> Don't love that that that happened. >> Wow. >> Love it. >> But it was awesome to only play four. preseason games. >> Not for me, but for the rest of the. team. Legitimately, I think it's. something if you're a football fan, I. think this building right here, we saw. uh cursive written letter from 1925.

that had implications on how football. would be run forever. We saw the actual. letter that was sent from Lamar Hunt to. Pete Roselle back whenever the AFL was. going to merge with the NFL or whatever. it was. And I'll tell you what, I don't. know who he is, but there's a guy named. Larry. something. >> We don't know his name for a reason. >> He was from the AFL. >> He's the first thing that Lamar Hunt. talks about in this letter to the Pete. Rosel. Need to get rid of this guy. Okay. I don't like what he's about. Then.

down there, number point number five in. this letter, he says, "We need something. like the Gay Cup. We need something like. Wimbledon. We need something that's. big." I have jokingly called it the. Super Bowl, but we can obviously. workshop that in this letter from 19. whenever 60some and then obviously that. would go on to become the biggest game. in the history of any league. And it's. like there's artifacts like that from. our league and from our game littered. all over this building that I didn't. know existed until they showed it to us. earlier today. I saw my draft card on.

the one that was actually turned in. whenever I got drafted. It's like this. is football paradise and it's the right. spot to kick off a league every single. year. Now we are joined by a man named. uh. >> well he's one half of the hammer dad. Cowboys AP Tone Tone. Are we gambling on. the Hall of Fame game tonight? And what. should we be looking at here? >> Yeah, we are 100% gambling on the Hall. of Fame game tonight. As you said, you. know, two teams with NFL helmets are. playing tonight. So we're definitely. gambling on it. The Lions are favored by. point and a half. So basically call pick.

them. So, you just pick the uh the. winner tonight. You uh you mentioned. that big news tonight that Kyle Allen. will probably be the starter for the. Lions and then Hen Hooker. We'll see. some time. Kyle Allen was really good in. the preseason last year for the. Steelers. He was 17 and 23 of 23 in the. get one game that he got. And then the. Chargers side, they have announced Trey. Lance will be the starter for at least a. half. And then you'll get DJU um. >> Angola. >> Yeah. Up and down. So, you'll see DJU. late. I normally side with the. quarterbacks who I would give the. advantage to Kyle Allen and Henon Hooker.

in this spot. Um Trey Lance threw five. interceptions in one preseason game last. year. I don't know though. The Harbaugh. record is a lot better in preseason. games than MCDC. >> All right. How is. everybody else kind of feel about this? >> Well, listen, they have near agreement. on the length of the deal, the value of. the deal, but not the guaranteed money.

I don't know if. that was the Cincinnati Bengals. throttling Sheffy there, but I do know I. couldn't hear a word he was saying, but. it sounds like from what Trey. Hendrickson has said, nothing has. changed. And in my eyes, the only thing.

If we could just put kind of a. bow on Trey Hendrickson, >> I I see him just eating $350,000 in. fines and then playing and then, you. know, hopefully he has a great year and. then next year he has a great free. agency where he does get the money he. wants. But coming in and saying like, "Yeah, no, nothing's changed. I'm just. I'm just here now." It's like, okay, well, everything you set out to do,

you've accomplished none of it. So, that. kind of stinks. We all, like we said. yesterday, think Trey deserves $35. million a year. So like because of that. I if you and other people believe that. which a majority of the people do then. you stay like it reminds you of the. Chris Jones thing when Chris Jones was. going with the Chiefs. He was eating all. those fines but he still stayed strong. He missed the first actual game against. the Lions at home when on banner night. he was up there with the Cats brothers. in the suite and then he got paid a.

bunch of money and then after he got. paid a bunch of money he got an. extension. So it's like hey Trey you you. did the exact opposite thing. You bent. the knee to Mike Brown who was basically. [ __ ] on you for three months. Katie. Blackburn was saying stuff about you for. three months. And now after this started. in February, it's over in July with you. basically just looking like an absolute. clown because. >> that's from your point of view. >> From my point of view because you. deserve $35 million and you're going to. play for 16. >> Well, we'll see. Then you. transferred to Eastern Michigan or. something like that. >> I was on tour like like an artist. >> Then you went to Jo. Then you went to. Kent State. And I was committed to Kent. State uh at in high school my senior. year for a point. Went up on a visit. They have a whole mural about Antonio. Gates up there and you hooping and it. was like real [ __ ] Like you were like. real hooper. Now the world knows you as. the greatest tight end touchdown scorer. of all time. When you think back to. those days, did you know that the cards.

were going to be football? Did you think. it was going to be basketball? Like when. you look back now as an official Hall of. Famer, I think it all worked out well, but was there a lot of moments of like. wonder how it was going to go for you? >> Well, you know, you always, you know, you're always optimistic that things. will go the right direction, but for me, it was just all about basketball at that. point. Um, I think, you know, even when. I went to Michigan State, me going to. Michigan State was me, you know, having. opportunity to play the game of. basketball. So, uh, never in a million. years that I thought I'd be standing. here in Canton, Ohio, uh, being a pro.

football home. >> Well, you're sitting right now. You will. be standing later, but nonetheless, uh, it all remains. And we looked up your. stats. 955 catches, >> 11,841. receiving yards. [Applause]. 116. touchdowns, most in the history of the. NFL. You and Philip Rivers had a great. connection, but the way you played the. position was so much different than. everybody in the past. How easy was it.

transforming into a tight end in the. NFL? And then how easy was it. transforming the position of tight end. forever? Cuz if you look now, a lot more. Antonio Gates is at tight end than there. was before you got into Elite. You. changed the game forever, brother. >> Yes, I appreciate that. Well, uh, it. wasn't easy because I got cursed out a. lot. So, just so we clear, I got cursed. out a lot. I did a lot of off platform. things and at the time I think that is. what it means to redefine certain. things. When you do things off platform,

people don't agree with them at times. I. like to use the the analogy of uh the. enemy of great is good. >> Hell yeah. >> You know, so that was kind of what it. was for me. I would see guys who did it. the right way and um obviously as a. basketball player I had things that I. was used to doing and creating. separation and uh you know like I was. going against guys 69 16 so I had to. find a way to get my shot off at times. So uh playing the game of football I. would do that and guys say coach say go. to 16. I'm like well he's sitting at 16.

coach I'm going to go to 14. You know a. guy you know a guy that knock your head. off sitting at 16 yards. I'm not going. to 16 coach. And I think what happened. is that they start giving me the ability. to make the adjustment. And I think when. you think of a good athlete, you think. of his ability to adapt in the actual. space at that moment. And so when I. would run around, I really don't never. really know what I'm about to do. I just. make the adjustment at the right time. And I think that's what gave me an. opportunity to be successful in the game. of football. >> So on that note, we were talking about. you earlier today. Uh AJ Hawk was a.

rookie and preseason game. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. I don't know if you remember the. rep. He does. Uh you were on I think you. were at the end of the line. Then you. motioned out a little bit and uh AJ Hawk. linebacker has you. AJ was trying to. disguise that he was not covering you. Okay. You knew this guy. You guys did a. skim milk check on this guy. And uh he. said that you hit him with how many. moves did you say? >> Felt like 15 moves within like a half a. second. >> and obviously he got wide open. You get. a catch and then he said immediately.

afterwards you were like, "Hey, you got. to look at my hips, dude.". >> Started coach. You started like coaching. them up. How much of that? What was your. relationship like with the guys that you. played against? And at what point did. you realize like, ah, I can get open. against basically anybody? >> Well, I think, you know, it's it's a. natural reinforcement when you make, you. know, catch passes. So, when I first. started in the NFL, I uh I went against. a guy named Rod Woodson. He was playing. safety for the Raiders at the time and I. was I was a rookie and uh I had been. playing video games with Rod Woodson my. whole life. So, I remember Drew Brees.

was the quarterback at the time and uh. they called him a play. It's like a. slot. I'm out the slot formation, his. backside and his one-on-one. I got a. corner out. And in my mind, I'm. thinking, I've been playing video games. with Rod Woodson. There's no way I'm. going to get open against this dude. He's a Hall of Famer, right? So, I went. up and made a catch on Ryson. It was. like a third down conversion. And I. think what happens is that it it sends a. signal to your brain that I belong here. And I think ultimately the more plays I. made, the more I felt like, okay, you. know what? I belong here. I think you. got to have it mentally first before you.

can obviously play it and and and let it. come out in the game. So, you got to. have it mentally to make no mistake. about it. No matter how humble I sound, how how humble I seem when I play, I. feel like I got this dude. I can beat. him. You got to have that part in order. for it to, you know, come to fruition in. real life. >> The conversation with the lads. afterwards, that was Rod Woodson, bro. >> Yeah. >> Did you see that? Debb has a question. for you. >> Yeah. A lot of the guys playing now look. up you and Pat mentioned it. You changed. you changed the position. But who were. some of those legends, some of those. Hall of Famers? I know Kell Williams.

senior, Kell Winslow senior played for. the Chargers. Who were some of those. legends you looked up to coming up at. the tight end position? >> Well, you know, again, uh, basketball. was my forte. I didn't really have, you. know, guys that I would say I look up to. in a sense. >> Um, >> but I know the idea of when you make. things happen, it's the respect factor. of guys who created the lane for you. And you you named a guy like Kellen. Winsow senior. You you know Marty. Shanheim would always say, you know, he. would compare me to Azie Newsome a lot,

>> right? I'm from Detroit, so I knew a lot. about Charlie Sanders. >> Um guys that just paved the way and. created that lane. So uh. >> you know when you think about the sport. and then you know obviously you know the. Tony Gonzalez and the Shannon Sharms and. the younger guys now. It's so many guys. and I I like to use the analogy because. they always talk about, you know, who's. the best tight end or who's the best. this and that's the comparison in. sports, but the reality of it is is that. I treat it like a 4x1 team. We all had. the baton at one time and we ran as fast.

as we can. >> And I think that's really what it's all. about is now we're passing it to the. next generation. And I see guys like. George KDles, he, you know, I mean, the. guys that's keeping it going. And I. think that's what it was for me. A guy. gave it to me and I had it at one moment. and I said I got to run my best race. and then pass it to somebody else and. hopefully they hey it's your turn. You. got to run fast as you can. I think. that's really what it's all about and I. hope you know now you see the generation. and they constantly growing at the. position. So I'm happy to be a part of.

that. >> How do you feel about tight end. university and everything like that? Talk about changing the position. I. mean, that was kind of the goal of that. is like I think it was financial. business talk too, like hey, we're. starting to catch the ball a lot more. and they're trying to talk about us as. tackles. We're actually wide receivers. as the market kind of changed for. everybody, but also like give an inside. game to everybody. You talk about. passing the baton. Feels like they're. trying to do that. Have you witnessed. that from afar? Have you gone to it? And. what are your thoughts on it? >> Well, I was I was invited to it, but I. haven't been yet. But I I do like what. they're doing. And I think. >> you missed the Taylor Swift conference. >> Yeah. Yeah. Right. My daughter will be.

mad about that now. My daughter left. Taylor Swift. Yeah, I I do like what. they're doing because at the end of the. day, that's really what it's about, right? Is it's serving a purpose and. being having a platform to be able to. say, "All right, well, I had this this. opportunity to do X, Y, and Z, and this. is the space that I was in. Now, let's. let me tell you what you should do and. what you shouldn't do." And I think. that's is a great idea for the tight. ends and the next generation. >> AJ has a question for you. as a uh Ohio. guy hits the horn as he rides by in the. highway. >> He mentioned it's fascinating listening. to you talk about running routes and I. would assume like you had a lot of.

freedom to to run, you know, work off. the leverage of your defender like was. that always a thing when you were young. getting into the league? And obviously. how do you build that rapport with Drew. Brees, obviously Philip Rivers, we saw. the connection you guys had. Like how do. you earn that trust in the quarterback. and the coach to where hey I'm gonna hey. hey hey I'm gonna get open. You just you. throw one. >> You throw me one. Yeah. Well you you got. to earn it. That's for sure. You know, I. think what happens is that it's uh. repetition. Um it starts with underneath. the surface so they would know that at. the end of the day I'm working beyond my.

means. So I it means more to me to have. success than it does to the coaching. staff and everybody around me. I think. that's just something that you build. That's what training camp is for, right? You start with them dog days, that. foundation. You're working hard. I'm the. last one to leave. I'm working hard. I'm. running more. I'm running extra. I'm. doing extra. And ultimately when I get. out there, it means just as much for me. to do it right than anything because I. know guys are dependent on me. So that. was my philosophy going into any game is. that man, these dudes believe in me. The. game plan is surrounded by number 85. I.

need to make sure I deliver and I think. that meant the world to me that guys. would believe in me to that level. Uh who was that. coach that you said that you would say. had the biggest impact on you on your. game? And what was that moment or the. biggest thing that you figured out. during the game? Because I know it's a. lot of people watching, players, fans, little young kids who want to be where. you are. So, what was that thing that. you learned that kind of took you a long.

way in your career? >> Well, let me tell you, man. Uh, coach. named Willie Shaw. And David, he's David. Shaw's dad who coached at Stanford. But. Willie coached in this league a long. time. And uh it was about preparation, kind of understanding that to be a great. player, it was about playing from your. your neck up. Y. >> you know, you can have all the speed and. the height and all that stuff, but my. deal was I'm going to be where the ball. is at the end of the play. I I can care. less about what Jerry or Michael or.

what, you know, what these great. receivers are doing at the line of. scrimmage. I'm going to be where the. ball is going to be at the end of the. play. And to be able to get to that. point, you have to have great. preparation and have a great. understanding of what not just the. quarterback is doing, but what the. offensive coordinator is doing. So on. the off season, I would take whoever's. offense is that one and usually was the. West Coast offense. I would take that. offense in the offseason and I would be. Jerry Rice. I would run every route that. Jerry Rice is going to run. >> Oh, >> I would take the Dallas Cowboys offense.

and I would run Michael Urban's routes. I would be the Buffalo Bills. I would. run Andre Reed's routes. I would be the. Atlanta Falcon cuz run Andre Ryzen. routes. I feel like we hear Ben Johnson. makes comments about the Bears having. their longest toughest practice today. and seeing who's going to survive. Like. do you think the game is is coming back. even to a more like yeah a safer but. even more physical form than it has been. maybe the last 5 8 years. >> without a doubt and the big reason why. is because the birds the Eagles the. Eagles are a physical football team.

right and they're the champs right now. right so whatever that champ mentality. is that's what everyone else is going to. try and copy I imagine this year. everyone's going to try and get a. running back right and try and figure. out a way that you can get to some third. and short situations but as you know. there's not going to be any more three a. days right we used have three days. Not. I missed the three days. God. days we'd have two practices of full. hitting and then the third practice. would be conditioning. Right. So it was.

So, I think that's. the next phase defensively is to make. sure we're tackling properly so we can. continue to play that physical game, but. after those guys are finished, they. don't have the head trauma and things. like that. Uh, speaking of head trauma, you guys used to do some wild stuff all. time. >> And now hold up, hold up, hold up. What? Did you do this. immediately? >> No. So that So when I was a rookie and. my my first couple years, the vets, you. know how vets tell you what to do, you. got to do it. So the vets would make. stuff up for me to do on Saturday. Jack. Sawyer was just carrying TJ Watt's. helmet off the uh field yesterday. >> Yeah. So like I one game they'd make me. do spirit fingers. Uh no joke. I got a. $5,000 fine my first sack. It was a.

preseason so it didn't count against uh. Eli. I did the old like slap the leg the. you know like flex the leg out, you. know, like bodybuilders do. They said it. was sexually suggestive $5,000. >> Yeah. We don't know. Especially with. your sexual look. >> So then I had then I had to do the lawn. mower one week. They would make me do. like high kicks. So finally uh it was it. was they just made me do all sorts of. dumb stuff. The Neil Smith uh Neil Smith. got put in the Ring of Honor and I did. his celebration. Hit a home run, had a. couple good sacks against the good old.

I was losing weight rapidly, right? I. couldn't figure out like I I randomly. dropped 10 pounds. I couldn't gain it. back. Would randomly drop 10 lbs. So, was doing all these tests trying to. figure out, you know, what I had, make. sure I wasn't dying. And then my doctor. found out doing some absorption test. that I had alpha gal, which I got bit by. a lonear tick when I was out in the. woods one time and it makes me allergic. to the sugars in mammal meat. Any mammal. meat. >> Wow. >> And so I was having some digestive. issues and losing weight. So now I'm on. the fins and feathers diet for a little. bit so I can get it out. Fins and. feathers. I like that.

>> It's called fins and feathers. And uh. yeah, just trying to get weight back on. And now I got to start lifting weights. again. >> How long's this been happening? >> I don't know. I just found out about. it's been happening probably anywhere. five or six years. I just found out this. year. Yeah. >> How long is this forever going to last? >> No, some people it's forever. Uh I'm. luckily I have it light so I might be. able to get it out of my system. Some. people have to carry EpiPen. Some people. can't even like touch grease or use hand. soaps that have beef gelatin in that. >> Holy hell. That's crazy. Let's. talk about a rookie who is attempting to. do something that has never been done. before. Let's go down to Jacksonville, Florida. More specifically, Duvo. County, new coach, new GM. This is what. they had to say the day after the draft. when they traded a lot of assets to get. up to number two to make their pick out.

of Colorado. >> Yeah. You know, uh, as we sit here, Travis Hunter is a Jacksonville Jaguar. and really what comes to mind for me, right, thinking about the sport of. football and really the power of the. game itself, right, it's capacity to. ignite belief, right? Belief in. ourselves, belief in others, right? belief in achieving what many may deem. impossible. Travis Hunter, he embodies belief, right? He's a rare.

person. He's a rare player, but he's. also a reminder that the boundaries of. the game of football were built to be. challenged. >> Oh, yeah. >> And so, the decision to select him, >> that's what the game's all about, >> was actually a statement. a statement. for how we plan to move, who we are, and. we want him to be nothing more than him. Because when he is, he elevates the. space around it. From the football field.

to the city to the game of football. itself, Travis Hunter is who we've been. hunting up. Couldn't be more jacked to. be sitting right here beside him and. introduce you all to the man of the. hour. That. is how Travis Hunter was introduced to. the NFL media and to the entire. Jacksonville Jaguars fan base from their. brand new GM who looks 12 but has a. great football mind is what everybody.

has told us in Gladstone old stoner. Then let's go to training camp where. Travis Hunter was chitchatting with Pete. Prrisco of. >> CBS. Bingo. Guy's been around a long. time. We appreciate his commitment to. football. This was his question for. Travis. is we all said to ourselves, there's no way this guy's going to be. able to do something that's never been. done before. Right. Here's Pete Prrisco. How many plays do you think you can. play? You think you can play them all? >> Yeah, I definitely think I could play. them all. If if I didn't think I could. play them all, I wouldn't be trying to. do it. >> But what makes you able to do that?

There's nobody's ever done that. What. What makes you capable of those? >> Uh just my mental. You got to have the. right mindset going into it. Uh you got. to have the right knowledge. You got to. understand what you're doing when you're. going out there. You got to understand. how to take care of your body, too. So when he says those things, Debb. obviously. >> he is going to be a guy who thinks he. can do it all because he's already done. it all at a very high level. >> He is a guy who was drafted number two. overall to do it all. He is a guy who is. special. He's the highest rated Madden. player in the history of rookies in the. NFL at 84,

>> just one point below the highest rated. punter in the game. And AJ Cole is a. three-time pro bowler at 85. Don't love. that. But with Travis Hunter, what are. your thoughts early out of camp from. what we've seen? And how do you think. this works out? What does success look. like for you? >> I mean, I I played both ways my senior. year in college. We had like a 15 play. script for certain games. And I thought. just like him, I could play full time on. both sides. Then you realize, nah, probably not. You can't be effective on. both sides full time. And people have. said it's impossible. The boundaries. will be pushed. I'm excited to see him.

attempted. The mindset though, when you. get to the NFL, we heard Eric Allen talk. about it. His off seasonasons, he was. running routes. He was learning the. offense. Like those are the details and. the levels that these pros go to. So for. him to be able to compete and excel on. this level on both sides of the ball. will be extremely difficult. But we saw. he's a unicorn. We saw him do things. we've never seen do on a big-time. college level. So can he do it on the. pro level? We shall see. I'm excited to. watch. He has the skill set. But up here. it's going to be between the ears. Can. he figure it out? Can he game plan? Can.

he take care of his body? Can he do all. those things for an 18 game regular. season? Yeah. >> Or 18 week regular season. So. >> yeah. 17 games, 18 weeks. Nonetheless, and you start stacking years now, you. got preseason, offseason, playoff games. Hopefully, they're thinking down there. in Jacksonville. Remember, they were in. the playoffs just a couple years ago. Brand new head coach, brand new GM. Feels like a new energy. They got. stadium to deal with over the next. couple years. I don't think anybody's. expecting them to win a Super Bowl this. year. But if you were to say, what does. a successful career look like for Travis. Hunter? Obviously, if he comes premier.

at one of those positions, that's a. successful career no matter what. Even. if it's number two overall pick, number. one overall pick, whatever it is. But if. he's able to play both ways for an. extended period of time in the NFL, I. think everybody will be mind-b blown by. What does success look like, AJ? How. long do you think, >> man? Success for him, obviously, if he's. a premier player at the at a as a corner. or a receiver, but I think if he doesn't. have to play every single play, they can. talk about, oh, can you play every play? Yeah, I could. Like, technically, I. could. I I think you can find packages. here and there for him. I don't know. what like what does he does he identify. more as a receiver as a DB? Do we know?

>> Well, I don't I don't like that's like. show who said he was a hitter who became. a pitcher or whatever in his entirety. That's two different things that. everybody said you can't do, you can't. do, you can't do. He is trying to defy. the odds there. We said he was also a. unicorn. Baseball people said he was a. unicorn. And then in his fourth or fifth. start, whatever it was, he had a bad. outing. Now everybody's calling for him. Stop wasting your time. You need to go. hit. Well, that happened with Travis. >> Yes. >> If he gets bombed on Yes. and he has. like two touchdowns on the other side, people are going to be like, why are we. wasting any time on the defensive side?

And on the flip side, if he is a glove, if it is Revas Island on defensive side. and he's, you know, the Jacksonville. Jaguars on the offensive side, he's. scoring like. >> maybe has eight touchdowns on a year, nine touchdowns on a year, which would. be very good. >> It's like, do we want to sacrifice glove. on defense for the other? Those. conversations are going to last for his. entire career, just like it has with. Show. >> Yeah, for sure. And I think with him, like the expectation shouldn't be like, oh, because he can play both ways. Like. this guy should be a top five receiver.

and a top five quarterback. Like you. look at show, he's either the best. hitter or the second best hitter. depending on, you know, how you feel. about it in the MLB. And he's probably. like a top 25 pitcher, but he's good. enough to go out there and compete on. the mound as well. Obviously, he just. got hurt, which kind of, you know, throws things into array a little bit. But for Travis Hunter, if he is a top 10. guy at either receiver or cornerback and. he's a top half guy at the other, is. that good enough to dictate like, hey, this guy needs to continue to play both. ways or do you just say.

>> I genuinely don't know how to handle it, especially after they need him the most. too for the team needs. Do they need a. corner more or they need receiver more? What do you need? >> Like there's more drum like we are a. supporter. We would like him to blame. both sides. And we talked about this. earlier in the uh basement of the Hall. of Fame. >> Sure. >> Back of the Hall of Fame. >> Yeah, we're sweating in the Hall of. Fame. >> It's a banger. We're in there in the.

basement listening to that. I will have. you know also listening to uh. >> MGK who will be joining us here in uh. with some breaking news actually about. one of his songs I believe about to call. she's but we were chit chatting there. how long does he have to play. >> both sides to be a hall of famer just. like considered a hall of famer cuz. we're in here it's like if he was able. to play what a contract two contracts. >> y. >> that's what six seven eight years if he. was able to play eight years on both. sides guaranteed hall of fame I mean,

not even a question. If he was to play. both sides five years and then. transition or four years and transition. into one of them, I think still Hall of. Fame resume type stuff. Anything he does. is going to be unique. It's going to be. uh mold breaker if you But how long does. this able to last? What can the human. body do? Even if it's one of the most. physically fit bodies that we've ever. seen in Travis Hunter. >> Yeah, that's why I don't think the full. offense and defense is going to be, you. know, for an extended period of time. Like I know it's Sweden training camp.

and you know when he's doing offensive. drills in the morning during special. teams, he's doing defensive drills, he's. getting the most reps out of anyone. basically ever. I think we just go back. to what we said originally. Like I think. the idea of him having a package on one. side of the field is still more likely. than him playing. >> Which side is he major on? >> He's going to play full time at one. position. >> We just got this smacked in our heads. >> I didn't know they're right. from. somebody in the crowd. Michigan sucks. here on one side. Now,

>> what is Michigan's record against Ohio. State. >> over the last couple years? >> Undefeated against Ohio State. >> This guy said also need some beer money. if you'd like to hit me up. I was I was kick kicker. punter coming out. >> Yeah. >> Thought that I was going to be able to. play both. Said I think I could. Was in. the Senior Bowl as a kicker. Was drafted. as a punter. Thought I could maybe at. one point figure out how to do both. There was one guy that tried it in the. past. He was in Atlanta. They had him. kick field goals. They had him punt. and. he missed like six straight field goals. or something after like a great. four-week start or 5we start. Then he.

missed a bunch and they were like we're. never doing this again cuz your leg. cannot take it. You need to be a master. at one thing. So if he does this. obviously historic for all positions, all sports, everything like that. But. there's a chance that neither what if. >> what if one's eating away from the other. and they both kind of attack each other. Like so many different options on how. the story can go. We believe in Travis. Hunter the person. >> Yes. But the NFL is tough, dude. >> And it's it's been guys who had the. ability to play both ways. Charles. Woodson Talib, one of your college.

teammates, Chris Campbell, a guy I. looked up to. These guys had skill set. to be a full-time wide receiver or DB. But it's what you get to either college, which it happens to most guys. You go to. a big time D1 school, but definitely to. the NFL. Deion Sanders, he's the guy I. can remember most touching the ball on. both sides. But Champ Bailey, another. one, but like it'll be incredible if he. does it. He has already pushed boundies. and broke boundaries. So he I I'm not. going to doubt him. I'm. >> You know how I know he I know he's going. to be successful cuz the Cleveland. Browns passed on him. And if the. Cleveland Browns pass on you and trade.

away that pick, this guy is going to be. an automatic Hall of Famer. >> I think Cleveland's like 45 50 minutes. from here. >> That is a lot of scumbag Ohio inside. >> right there. >> Not him. There's a Cowboys fan. I mean. Lro was so much better in this place. The Hall of Fame should have been in. Latroe. They made a huge mistake playing. here. Do you think at all about. those guys Debut just mentioned the. places they went to school were all top. five in the country and he went to. Colorado and they're playing Colorado. State. Like does that actually come into. authority? >> Colorado State's a good program.

>> Colorado State's a great program. Yep. We know for sure Trey McBride love that. guy. Bradley Vampel but but truly like. Gamble like. >> Woodson they're playing against the top. talent in the country every week. And. then you're thinking about Travis Hunter. and they go to Nebraska who wins seven. games and they lose 30 to nothing. So. it's just one of those rules. Absolutely. >> And if you look at Travis as a player, like he was a like a fivestar coming out. of high school to any program and then. he follows coach Brian go to Jackson. State and go to Colorado, but got.

drafted number two for a reason. Like if. you look at his skill set, him running, him breaking his awareness, his ball. skills, all of those are on a elite like. tier one level, I would say all time as. far as a prospect goes. Um, so I don't I. don't have any you saying like do you. have you like level of comp? >> Yeah. Well, my thing is like Dion let. him play both ways, but all those other. top schools that he was getting. recruited by as the top recruit, they. were only going to let him play one way, >> right? Like it wasn't like a hey you can. the reason he wanted to go play for Dion.

is because Dion was the only one that. was like yeah you can play both. >> Well Dion also put a plan together for. him. Understood. I think Dion there's. only a couple people that can have those. conversations too. >> Exactly. Those two are Coach Braun's one. of them. And once again we can't say. this enough.
