The Pat McAfee Show Live From NFL Network Studios | Wednesday October 21st 2026
Come on in. Are you. Heat. Heat. N.
The following program is a collection of. stooges talking about happenings in the. sports world. It is meant to be comedic, informative. The opinions expressed on. this show do not necessarily reflect the. beliefs of their peers, their boss or. ESPN. There may be some cuss words. because that's how humans is the real. world talk. If you are a young, please. seek permission before watching any.
further. >> Hey, what? Let's go. >> This show sticks and the fact that you. listen, we are very, very thankful for. >> McAfee on the line with a gorgeous. assist. >> The alltime leading tackler for the. Green Bay Packers. >> You can. start. Damn it. >> Your friend, tell a friend something. nice could change their life.
Hello beautiful people and welcome to. another magical what Wednesday October. 21st 2026. This sports program begins. right now. football. >> Oh, >> you guys didn't want to do it. >> No, I I knew it. >> As J Butler, nine-year NFL vet, 12year. NFL veteran, AQ Shipley here as well. We're live in Los Angeles at the.
beautiful NFL studios. This is. spectacular. Every time we walk through. here, we find something new to love. They got studios in abundance. They got. magic in store, and we cannot wait to. call this place home for the next couple. of hours. Now, there's a lot to chat. about. The NBA tipped off their season. in a huge, huge way. The NFL is about to. have week seven just tomorrow, and it's. about to kick off another magical. weekend of ball that the world is going. to have to talk about. And then we're. also going to get a little bit of an. update on Jaylen Herz's situation with.
an actual doctor, a man who was a team. doctor for 17 years. Dr. David Cow will. be stopping by here in about 10 minutes. JJ Watt will be stopping by. Reese Davis. will be stopping by. And oh yeah, a guy. who's about to start his first ever. World Series for the Brewers. Jacob. Miserowski will be stopping by. Today. should be an absolutely fantastic day as. we are out here enjoying this weather, I. must say. But from my understanding, the. weather is fantastic back in. Indianapolis as well. AJ Hawk has made. your trip to the Thunderdome. Hawker,
good to see you, buddy. How's life over. there in uh the Midwest? Cuz last night. I heard Midwest salt, that's what I. heard. AJ, I don't know if you heard. LeBron James repping for Ohio in a big. way talking about I'll beat your old. white ass. I'm from Ohio, I believe, is. what went down in Madison Square Garden. We've said it. Ohio people are Ohio. people. A lot of people forget that. LeBron is an Ohio guy. You former. president of Ohio. That had to really.
get you some uh some Zeke feelings. seeing LeBron speak like that in New. York City. >> It did. Yeah. I was pumped to see LeBron. playing, of course, for the for the. 76ers. Felt a little bit odd, but I was. definitely excited to see him kind of. rep Ohio and feel like uh he still knows. where his roots are. I think it would. have been cool if he came back to. Cleveland for this season, but I get it. I understand what he's doing, but yeah, why not? Hopefully this is a trend. though, Pat. Like throughout the whole. season, we see him see him going back. and forth with random old white dudes. that's sitting in the second row. >> Yes, I if this is going to be another.
villain LeBron era and maybe he hears. some of the stuff being said about him, whether it's what type of helicopter, whose helicopter he's getting on, what. team he decided to uh play alongside. Oh, he went to a place says four. allstars. Well, that's interesting. LeBron James making that decision. He's. going to a city that needs a dub in a. big way. And if he's going to have that. type of mentality, I think the lads will. rally around it. And he delivers a. massive L on banner night in Madison. Square Garden. Debut was glued to his.
phone yesterday. I mean, absolutely. glued to his phone everywhere we were. How could you miss a single second of. the NBA tip off to the entire season? Prime time game out here kind of early. evening, >> which is perfect. >> Great. >> Interesting. What time game? I asked I. asked I said, "Okay, is there a late. game?" Yeah, it's already over. It's. like, wow, >> it doesn't even look like it's nine. o'clock right now. That's an absurd. thing out here in the West Coast. But. the New York Knicks L on banner night. What else happened yesterday, Dud? >> Well, ruined banner night for the.
Knicks. And look, Knicks had some sweet. jerseys, great chance. And one thing I. love about the NBA, these basketball. games, is how the fans are on top of. you, get the chirping, and it was great. to see the zoom out to see who LeBron. was going back and forth with because I. had no idea. So, that was fun. They. ruined banner night. So, some chemistry. and it's early. So, some people are. rusty. Some teams are rusty. Boston. Celtics, they didn't look great. I. thought they were going to come out. looking great. Uh Paul George, he damn. sure did. Went back in time. Looked like. Pacers. Paul George, I believe he had 38.
with seven three-pointers. He was. unbelievable. Jason Tatum, not so much. The Stones find a way to get a victory. in their first game. And then you talk. about the last game, the only favorites. to get a win, the OKC Thunder, went on. the road and got a big time win over the. Spurs. And it's kind of business as. usual with SCA. Some people call him. boring, which I don't get. He's just a. smooth bucket getter. He had a easy 32. and a big time win over the runner-ups. in the NBA last year for the title. So, love this one. Got a little chippy, too.
Wimby, I see him throwing guys to the. ground. I like how he started. Some. questionable fouls maybe down the. stretch, but a big time game. a big time. start for the NBA. >> SGA kind of moves like Jordan a little. bit, don't he? >> Uh, no. No, that would not be the guy I. would compare him to. >> No. >> No. >> They kind of see he kind of moves a. little. Is that what you think too? Uh, >> AQ, >> there's never been anyone in the history. of the league that moves like number 23, the 23 from Chicago. >> Okay. So, we've been having this. conversation. AQ is a massive LeBron. hater. Okay. He is.
>> huge game last night. 13 points I think. he had. >> Okay. All right. So, this guy, this is. what this is. 24. >> This exists out there. This is He's a. professional athlete, too. He knows how. hard it is to be a professional athlete. He understands what LeBron's been able. to do. He still talks like this. We'll. always talk like this because of how. much he loves Michael Jordan. We've been. having this conversation for what, 14. years at this point. Yeah. Is there. still not to the point where it's like, you know what, at this age, at this. stage, what Michael Jordan, Can we. compare elder statesmen of the league.
and how they played against each other? very good basketball player, but to put. them in the same breath or category, it's tough for me. It's tough for me. Longevity, admirable. I mean, he's This. guy's played as long as Robert Parish. and uh Yeah, I mean, shout out. >> Oh, this guy's the worst. >> Lamper actually came up in the. conversation, too. >> Yeah. I like that. Everybody from the. old school, okay, everybody from the old. days goes, "You think LeBron James would.
have been able to handle Bill Lambir?". It's like, "LeBron James in that era. would not Bill Lamb beer is a dog. I I I. absolutely love Bill Lambir." And I'm. not getting into it cuz they were. playing two different styles of. basketball. But anytime you get into. basketball, people conversation that are. very passionate about it, you can stir. that up so quick. And I do that with AQ. People forget Western Pennsylvania. Intercolastic Athletic League basketball. hall of famer in high school debut as. well. But I'm a Braun fan, have been, so.
I enjoy watching him. If he gets another. title here with the Sixers and changes. the way Philadelphia operates, I mean, it's hard not to talk about him being a. great of all time. >> Well, there's no question. I mean, you. you have to put him in the great of all. time. You just can't put him as the. greatest in my opinion, right? And I. think if he does go to Philadelphia and. gets another another championship, it'll. be really cool that he went to another. team and joined a bunch of all star and, you know, got it. That was It's pretty. cool. >> Haters will hate. Now, Con man, Boston. Celtics had a big lead. They end up uh.
relinquishing that. Are you worried. about what the Celtics and how they're. starting? Is is this maybe a year of a. full collapse for the Boston Celtics? Tatum not having his best game, everybody wondering, is what he. responded with after his Achilles tear. last year. Is that all just a drop in a. bucket? Con man, is it all panic in. Boston right now? >> No, not at all. I mean, I'm sick of. blowing 22-point leads. I'll tell you. that much. Debb said, you know, you. expected them to come out hot. They did. come out hot. Actually, too hot because. then they just decided, hey, we're going.
to shoot a bunch of threes in the fourth. quarter and kind of give this game away, which they did over and over again. Actually, that's exactly what got them. eliminated in the playoffs last year. But no, no panic. If Paul George is. going to score 38 points a night, 30. points a night, then I think you can. expect the Boston Celtics to be playing. late in June going all the way and. making a run to the finals. But yeah, got to stop blowing 20 point leads. That. really grinds everybody's gears in. Boston. Just go to the hole, Jason. Tatum, you son of a gun. But no, they're. going to be just fine. They're actually. looking forward to watching them this.
entire year because they're going to be. top three seed in the East. Now, all. eyes turn to the Indiana Pacers who will. be playing this evening on the zone. against the New Orleans Pelicans. And. maybe, just maybe, Tyrese this year. could. >> earn his way back to ESPN. >> Yeah, I heard the commissioner say that. I think he was saying that as a joke. There were some other things he said. where people were saying he tipped off. the script. >> Love a little bit. >> That's the Thunder. >> Yeah. What if it does happen though? Then we kind of get the game. If we get. the game, if if the commissioner is just.
going to tell us exactly what's. happening in every single season, we we. like that. and not hate that, right? >> Absolutely. >> Cuz then we can. >> go along with it. >> Yeah, that's right. >> So, if he's tipping off scripts, let's. make sure we utilize that for our own. benefit. But the script for Tyrese is. one that he had to battle, man. Towards. Achilles in game seven, he was going to. go on to potentially score 50 and win an. NBA title. Go down as one of the most. legendary performances in the history of. an NBA final. Had multiple game winners. through the playoffs and in game seven.
in Oklahoma City. odds against him. Underdogs for the evening. Oklahoma City. had been impossible to beat, especially. in Oklahoma City. He started out with. like 100 points in the first four. minutes. He never did that. He's a guy. that distributes. He's a point guard. He. kind of gets going late and once he gets. hot, he gets absolute lava, volcano, flam start coming out. And instead, he. tears his Achilles after some Achilles. soreness was happening, which has scared. us for everybody else that experiences. the same thing in all sports. and the.
Pacers will go on to lose. And he would. miss all of last year. While he was. going through his Achilles recovery, he. had a lot of different spurts of. adversity, including dealing with what. was that called? What was the thing. called? >> Shingles. Shingles. Yeah, big. >> shingles on his head that got into his. eye. Wasn't able to sweat, wasn't able. to rehab, wasn't able to recover. He. gained a bunch of weight while he was. taking steroids to try to battle against. the shingles. Not steroids to get. jacked. steroids to battle against this. disease, this infection, this fungus. that he had taking over his nervous. system on his head. Then he gets back.
after being called fat and goes. absolutely ham in the preseason. Tyresese Hallebertton has big dreams. this year and it all starts tonight on. the zone against the Pelicans. >> So watch these highlights. >> Yeah. like Matt Brown, Bruce Brown who's. back there in Indianapolis yesterday. because of the Pacers Knicks rivalry and. because the Knicks win a title when. Tyrese is not playing. Okay. And Tyrese.
has gone out in WWE in New York. Jaylen. Brunson is a champion. They're ch MVP to. him and Tyrese looks at Jaylen and goes, "You didn't beat me. I mean, you I. wasn't even on the field. I wasn't even. on the court all season." I think the. Pacers have big aspirations this year. and we brought in that big Croatian. Who's the big Croatian? We brought in uh. Bruce Brown, also a Croatian. He got. married in uh Croatians on Croatia's GQ. magazine because of his wedding. >> Yeah, Big Zoo Zubots has joined um the. Pacers as a center. Um now that the the.
first of all, banner night was. unbelievable. It was surreal to see the. banner go up in Madison Square Garden. But now with a bit of pressure off, I do. just want the Pacers to be great again. and restore that rivalry. It's the best. rivalry in the NBA recently um by far in. my opinion. Um so I'm pumped for Tyrese. to be back and I'm I'm excited uh you. know for for hopefully it to it to be. playoff games in Indie in New York again. this year. Um because that was awesome. in 2025. >> When is that? 82 games from now. Jeez.
Louise, such a long season. They have to. battle. >> 18th number one first game against the. Knicks. I got it circled. >> Okay, let's countdown till then. Foxy, you know you're a big LeBron guy. We all. know you're a big LeBron guy. Bruce was. saying that it should have been Tyrese. instead of LeBron in the garden last. night for opening night of NBA tip off. Your thoughts? >> Yeah, one of the craziest things Bruce. has ever said, which is really saying. something. We're talking about the. greatest player of all time on opening. night of the NBA season versus the. Indiana Pacers, who no offense, they had.
a top five pick this year. They really. stunk and top five picks. They're. not playing on opening night and that's. why they're on the zone. And you got. LeBron James, greatest of all time, new. team. Jaylen Brown, one of the greatest. players in the league right now on a new. team. And it's the Philadelphia market. against the New York Knicks. I mean, that was the perfect opening night game. No offense to the Indiana Pacers. >> He was laid jealous last night. >> Okay. >> He he he wishes the Knicks lost in the. final so he could have joined the Knicks.
and hopefully had the love and adoration. and legacy that Jaylen Bronson has. attained. >> Okay, Bruce. Sweet jerseys, Bruce. >> Yeah, very cool. Very cool night. Congrat Roger Goodell was in the house. I saw a lot of people celebrating and. LeBron did what LeBron has done for a. hundred years. Yep. >> And that's go in there and win. Shout. out to LeBron still doing it. Good luck. to the Sixers and to the NBA. We'll have. Sham Shirania with a driveby here at. some point cuz we're in the same, you. know, set as them. Uh joining us now is. a man who will hopefully be able to give. us a little bit more information on a.
very serious subject. We have tried our. absolute best to understand this. AQ, I. don't think we've gotten your take on. this yet. The Jaylen Herd situation. Very scary, I think. but also knew. nothing about the topic. So, it was hard. to kind of get a full feel of it. >> I knew nothing about it either, but then. once I started to hear that, oh, this. can travel up now. It gets in your. lungs, it could get to your heart, and. there's all the different things. I. mean, that's a super serious thing. And. I had no idea that you could get a. bruise on your calf from being cleed and. all of a sudden it turns into this. Like, that's that's that's a crazy. thought to think. And the fact that it.
took as long as it did to get there is. is quite interesting. But, we have. gotten there. it it seems like he's made. the right decision and they've kind of. shut him down and you get that fixed and. then you can move on. >> We're all very scared though as we're. hearing these, you know, and was this an. abnormal situation for an abnormal. situation like getting a superficial. clot from this and then it becoming a. clot that moves throughout your body as. opposed to just is that an abnormal? Well, joining us now is a man who is a. team physician for 17 years with the. Chargers. He is now going to be our. expert on what the hell is going on with.
Jaylen Herz's blood and is he going to. be okay and how um how much should we. expect this in the future for all of us? Should we be getting ourselves checked? Ladies and gentlemen, Dr. David Chow, >> doc, >> how you doing, Doc? >> I'm good. Thanks for having me on. Let. me just say this. Blood clots, especially pulmonary embolism, things. that go to the lung are very scary and. potentially deadly untreated. Treated. the outcomes are excellent. So, it has.
to be recognized and treated. So, I do. feel like the good news is even though. Jaylen Herz is out for the season, it. needs to be anti-coagulated. You can't. play the collision sport of football, you know, when you could potentially. have a brain bleed or something like. that. But long term, he's going to be fine. There's lots of examples on it of this, including right tackle for the Panthers. who played the Eagles last week. First. came back after his own lung and blood. clot issues. And there Christian.
Barammore, several other examples of it. even recently. So fingers crossed they. detected it, they're treating it, and. long-term he's going to be fine. >> Okay. So that's great news. He'll be. able to play again, we assume, and won't. have to be on blood thinners forever. because I've been told you can't play. football if you're on blood thinners. And the right tackle would tell us that. is the case. Right. >> I think that is correct that you should. not and cannot play football on blood. thinners for the chance of a bleed. Look, you can't get hit in the head,
have a brain hemorrhage, and have it go. haywire, more bleeding. You can't take. that chance even if it's 01. So that's. why you cannot plan blood thinners. He's. going to need blood thinners for at. least 3 months, if not six months. So, this is why he's going to be out for the. season. But long term, unless they find. something different where his blood is. hyperquagulable or something weird going. on, I would expect the option to return. to play in the NFL will be open to him. >> Okay, we're happy to hear that. hyperquagable. I don't even want to dive.
into what that means, but I assume it is. something uh that he will learn about. through this entire process. Speaking of. the process, I think that is now the big. uh source of conversation. How did we. get to the point where Jaylen Herz finds. out about having this superficial blood. clot, travels to London, then there was. some interesting reporting on sleep. habits that have been walked back. completely. He Jason Kelsey said came. out late to uh the game, didn't even do. warm-ups, came out after the national. anthem team was already out there. He.
came jogging out was very abnormal the. pregame routine for Jaylen and then. afterwards it becoming what it becomes. The process there's a protocol I assume. in place. You were at the NFL for 17. years. I don't know how normal this. would be for a protocol to be in place, but can you walk us through how those. decisions were made? And the NFLPA has. called for an investigation into the. process. Roger Goodell speaking at. league meetings just said they welcome. an investigation into this whole. process. We will learn exactly how this. all went down, I assume, Doc. And when. we do, what do you think we will learn.
about the decisions and why they were. made at the time that they were made? >> A lot to unpack there. Look, decisions. Look, this is bad optics clearly, right? the flight that he played in the game. and now it went to his lungs. The optics. of this this are bad. That doesn't mean. the fact pattern behind it was bad. And. I welcome it being sorted out. Look, I. don't think it was fair to Nick Serriani. to put him out there to try and answer. these questions. He's not qualified to. answer the questions. You know, I like. Dr. Silsber for him to just say, "I back. up the Eagles doctors doesn't say a.
lot." I wish he would have said, "I. reviewed the medical records and I back. up what they did." that would be more. meaningful. So, we got to separate fact. from fiction here. Let me just say this. outright. If Jaylen Herz had a DVT in London, what. the Eagles doctors did with him, if he. already had a deep vein thrombosis as he. landed in London and that was diagnosed, it was wrong for them to play him in the.
game. if what he had was a superficial. vein thrombosis, it was not wrong and it. was acceptable and defensible within. medical standards. Now the question is. when did it become a DVT? When did they. learn about it? Look, there's been a lot. about no sleep. That's been walked back. No one tells anyone not to sleep after a. even a DVT, much less an superficial. vein thrombosis. That's been walked. back. And as far as the flight back is. concerned, look, if we all in the lay.
public or announcers and media people. know that you potentially can't fly with. a blood clot, don't you think the three. Eagles doctors that travel with the team. know it? The five athletic trainers know. it. Look, he's not in a middle seat on. Southwest Airlines. He's in a first. class seat on a 747. he can move around, stay hydrated, take low-level. anti-coagulants, u uh move his ankles, uh get pulse massage, etc. if there was. worry about a blood clot expanding. So,
I don't think there was anything wrong. necessarily with that if they made some. precautions and were aware of their. being careful. >> So, it feels like the big uh piece of. information we need is when it became a. superficial to a deep blood clot, right? That is what we need. And how often, last last question here, >> how often is a superficial blood clot. becoming a deep blood clot? Is this an. abnormal situation for an abnormal. situation? And should we all be getting.
checked on a regular basis so we don't. have this happen to us? >> I think it's a very unusual situation. No question. No question about it. But, you know, I think transparency is good. I've lobbyed for after a game if there's. a medical question just like there is a. pool reporter that asks the referee. questions. I think a pool reporter. should ask the medical staff questions. and then less conspiracy theories would. be out there. Here is what has been put. out there. People are called for. independent analysis. I'm an orthopedic. surgeon. I was a head team physician of.
the Chargers. I would consult other. experts on this. The Eagles did that. The Cleveland Clinic in London did the. workup on the blood clot. It was their. advice in terms of what happened. The. irony is the Cleveland Clinic has been. the longtime Cleveland Browns doctors. They are no longer the Cleveland Browns. doctors. So, it was an independent group. of doctors that looked at Jaylen Herz in. London and came to this conclusion. Now, we need to look at the facts and make. sure that's what's all supported before.
we all jump in on one side or the other. But right now, I welcome the. investigation and the NFLPA doesn't need. to demand it. All they have to do is ask. for it. It's in the CBA. All they have. to do is ask and they get it. Well, they. did. They just did it in a demanding. way. Okay. So, we're all going to learn. about what happened. Thank you for. clarifying a lot of things. Thank you. for taking the time to join us and uh. thank you for sports injury central. keeping us updated in real time every. game day. You're the man, Doc. >> Any all anytime. You guys are killing it.
on all your broadcasts everywhere. I. love watching you guys. >> Thank you, Doc. That's Dr. David Chow, >> doctor. >> Okay. So, I think whenever you hear a. doctor speak from the perspective of. experience, he's saying they had three. doctors there. Let's assume that all of. them understand what's going on more so. than we probably do. But the way we we. heard about it, finding out beforehand, then choosing to travel, then choosing. to play, then it gets really bad.
afterwards, and now this guy's out for 3. months, 6 months, he might die to a. Super Bowl MVP franchise quarterback. It. was all very alarming. I'm appreciative. of him coming on and saying like all the. things that have to go into every single. decision. >> It's just super scary. Whenever you hear. blood clot, we all have some type of And. then when you hear Kirk and his. experience, you know, his firsthand. experience dealing with that, that's. scary. And then when you hear the all. the reports that came out, someone being. walked back, it makes you look at the. Eagles obviously sideways. You always. talk about player safety and obviously. players we're going to try to play.
through anything almost, you know, whether it's, you know, going to Denver, if you got Cickle cell, we've seen. issues like that. So it it's very very. scary. I'm sure that the more details. will come out as far as how the Eagles. handled it. But it was shocking, especially with the sleep thing which. has been walked back, but uh this was. this was some scary scary news. I think. the interesting thing as football. players, you you're you're kind of. taught to tough everything out, right? And so whenever you feel, okay, I got. cleed and I guess the question is is. what made him get it looked at further. from just a bruise to now all of a.
sudden what what what are those symptoms. that now all of a sudden make him feel. more than just a bruise and now go get. that checked out? >> Yeah, I would like to get checked, I. think, for this. There there was. something that happened in our timeline. that has this a little bit more. prevalent than ever. We just need to. stay updated on what we need to take. care of ourselves, okay? So, let's all. survive. Joining us now is a man who's. not only surviving, but thriving. He's. the number one color commentator for the. CBS booth every single weekend in the. NFL. Ladies and gentlemen, the Houston. Sports Hall of Famer.
>> Mhm. >> The Boring of Honor member for the. Houston Texans. The man who comes in. every single Wednesday and tells us how. smart and how good of a guy he is. Not. on purpose, just because that's the type. of guy he is. >> First ever winner of that's a good guy. award from us. JJ Watt. >> J. >> That's a good guy. >> What's going on? >> What's going on, >> Gage? >> Where are you guys at? >> We're in LA. I know. I'm going to let. you know. We're right outside SoFi. Stadium and I might move here.
>> Okay, we'll just lay it all out there. >> To the parking lot or just California in. general? just I think you if you I'm I'm. kind of flabbergasted by I don't know if. the people that work in this particular. building understand how nice of a. building they have here. >> We talked about it yesterday. >> You're going to move into the building. You're going to live in it. >> The space. >> there's enough room. I think I could in. here and I don't think anybody would. know. This studio out here, J is the. nicest building I've every toilet is a.
bedet. Okay. That's for when people are. peeing and pooping. That's a big I don't. I mean you you from what I've seen I. think you make enough to put a bet in. every toilet in your house. >> Okay. Yeah. >> But you're giving it away. You're also. giving away enough to buy a lot of. beday. So I don't know. Maybe I'm off. >> Well, I'm just saying you're talking. about me personally. This building is a. 700,000 square ft. Every toilet in here. has a bedet. That's just pooping and. peeing. Now think about they have a. cafeteria upstairs. They got coffee.
They got ideas. They got whiteboards. They got a a theater in here. They got. 10 studios. They got a studio that could. house the entire American Gladiators. operation in here if you wanted to. Just. right over there waiting on it. And then. outside. >> I would like to. I would like to. >> Yes. Exactly. That's what I'm doing. Yeah. I'm Yeah, exact. I'm in a bad spot. over here. Let's not talk about us being. in a beautiful studio. >> It's beautiful. >> How about the weather? >> Perfect. >> Perfect. >> Are you Are you I mean, is Indie in.
trouble here? Is Indie in trouble here? >> Well, I pulled in my neighborhood the. other day. >> Is it Ballard? Was that the final straw? >> So, let's talk about it. Um, a J, what do. you think about the state of the. Indianapolis Colts right now? I know the. Houston Texans seemingly got it all. figured out, don't they? Wow. CJ Stout, what a player. >> Uhhuh. Really? >> I thought he forgot how to play. football. I saw him walking into. training camp this year. He looked like. a guy that wasn't supposed to be a. franchise quarterback. than your defense.
down there in Houston. Guess what? So. good. Not this year. It's actually ass. now. Vastly different story. They make a. big time trade. They go from a team that. was going to be laughed out of the NFL. yet again being a dumpster fire to hold. on. The Houston Texans might have found. a little bit of magic. And then up here. in Indianapolis, we lose the Tennessee. Titans. Now, Tennessee Titans were. considered Tennessee Shitens by a lot of. people saying this the worst team in all. football. And then the Colts thought. that so much so they actually fired. general manager. We still don't have a.
general manager right now. So the state. of the AFC South is certainly a. fascinating one. And I know you probably. have some thoughts on what's going on in. Indie. But I would like to compliment. the Tennessee Titans on getting their. first win. Doesn't feel like everybody. in the building's happy. >> Okay. From the stories we're hearing. Just got their first win. >> Just got their first win. I don't even. know why we're heading to our car after. practice. >> What is going on over there? >> Got this 2026. They just got a win. I. have no idea that that we could get the. push covers. I think anybody that's been. in a locker room could probably guess. what potentially happened over there.
What could maybe drive somebody to get. to that point. We've been a part of a. situation in the Indianapolis Colts. locker room that wasn't that far, but. there was certainly uh thought that. maybe that was going to happen. So, we. hope they figure that out. But the. Titans get their first win, have massive. drama in the building, and now people. are wondering if they're going to get. another win the rest of the season. They. might not unless they play the Colts. again. What what do you think about the. Indianapolis Colt situation? JH, we fire. our general manager, the assistant.
general manager who's been with the. general manager the whole time. He's now. in charge of making very important. decisions cuz if we're going to do a. rebuild, we have to take advantage of. this trade deadline that's coming right. around the corner. What is your. thoughts? What is your expectations? And. how do you think this kind of unfolds. for the Indianapolis Colts? Not long. ago, the Houston Texans were a dumpster. fire. Yeah, I'm not saying the Colts are. dumpster fire, but we're the first team. to make a massive firing and we're the. only one without a general manager and. it's week six only. So, you tell me, Jade, your thoughts on how this is going.
to go. >> I think that it's the right thing to do. here at the time, especially because the. longer you wait for it, the more moves. can be made on covering your own ass. instead of doing what's absolutely best. for the organization moving forward. And. maybe that's something that's, you know, led for a long time or maybe that would. be something that would have been new. But I think that if you are going to. make that decision, you have to do it. sooner rather than later because you. need people in those places making. decisions what's best for the.
organization moving forward. And now. again to that situation, you have to. figure out pretty quickly who you want. to be making those decisions in the best. interest of the organization moving. forward. Because if you're going to be. making a bunch of moves at the trade. deadline, you better be making good and. smart moves, especially if you're. planning a full-blown rebuild. And you. have you do you have some really good. pieces there if that's the route they. are going. I mean, there are some very. very good pieces in that building in. that organization. Um, for me, it's as a.
guy who's played in that division and. who's played against the Colts for a. very long time now. I've called a bunch. of Colts games and know that. organization, like I really like the. Colts organization. I I really do. I I. we I'm fortunate to have had a little. success against them and they've had. more success against me in my career. over time, but I think it is a it's I. enjoyed it when we had great battles and. things. So, it's not I don't take. pleasure in seeing them struggle. Um I. just like poking you I like poking fun. at you for it. Um but overall like guys. like DeForest Buckner who I think is an.
awesome guy, Jonathan Taylor who's a. Badger and a phenomenal guy. Like I I. want to see those guys happy and. succeed. So, it's probably very. frustrating in that building right now. >> Yeah, it is very frustrating. And thank. you for being so kind. And I do like the. fact that um you point out like, hey, I'm talking [ __ ] to you. I'm not talking. to the entire city into cuz that happens. to me a lot in Indianapolis. I just. enjoy I just enjoy the banter. Me and. you. >> Yeah, that happens to me a lot, too. whenever I'll say something to somebody.
just to get a pop out of that person. immediately. Oh, everybody that feels. the same way that this person feels now. thinks I attack them and that gets a. little bit heated, but I appreciate the. way you've handled that. Who knows how. the turnover goes? Is it a full rebuild? Are we keeping the pillars that we've. paid? We paid a lot of. >> What would you do? >> So, I'm general manager. I saw a version. of me singing to Carly Hersse on the. internet, maybe becoming the general. manager, offering myself up. And then at. the very end of the song, Carly says, "You were singing?". >> That didn't click what I saw. >> Yeah, I think it was a good song. I uh.
from my understanding, they chose a. fatter version of me, which I respected. because there's a lot of that. Uh but. yeah, it was me pitching myself to Carly. about, you know, all the jobs I do, how. I could be a general manager. Now, >> would I like to amplify that song and. say I do think I could be a general. manager? Absolutely not. That is not a. job that I would want anywhere near my. life. Uh but I do appreciate the angle. But at the end of that song, Carly says. to me, "Hey, I've already reached out to. Pton Manning." And I go, "Perfect. I'll. host a press conference." And I think. that's the right way to look at this. If.
we get Pton Manning anywhere near there. to make some decisions, >> that go. >> well. Pton Manning would give up all of. his jobs right now and all of his. businesses and he would head to. Indianapolis, Indiana, a place that he. does not call his home right now. he. has, you know, home in Denver and. Tennessee, you know, cuz the the kids. and the family. So, he would drop all. that. He would head to Indianapolis and. he would say, "It's on me to figure out. what the hell needs to happen." You Matt. Ryan's doing it for Atlanta right now. Now, I don't know if Matt Ryan has as.
many jobs. >> GM though. >> He's president of football. He's in there, bro. >> They still. in there. Yeah, but he's committed his. whole lifeally. like. >> Payton like I mean what do GMs make? I. don't know what GMs make. What do they. make? >> A percentage of the team it sounds like. in Indianapolis if it was Payton. Manning. Um I think that would have to. be a part of the discussion. But for me, >> I think you have to peel the band-aid. off now.
>> How are you peeling off? >> Peeling or ripping? >> Both. Rip it. Cuz you have got Jonathan. Taylor. You have got. >> that's a one that's a one. Jonathan. Taylor's a one and a three or a four. Okay, we need at least a one for him. >> 27 years old. >> Unbelievable. We We might need two ones. for Jonathan Taylor. Well, we gave up. for Sauce Gardner, which Sauce. incredible football player might be. available if if I was in there. Uh if I. was just because how good of a player he. is and people have uh very high thoughts.
on him. So the value for I think. everybody is potentially available right. now. We have no number one picks because. of the sauce gardener trade. So, it's. like if I was to go in there, I would. hate it. I have no relationship with. these people personally, but for the. Colts team and being a paying season. ticket holder, I appreciate how much. ball these guys have done for the Colts, but if we're trying to actually do this. thing, like I I think trade deadline's a. huge day. We don't have picks and I'm. not saying that the draft is going to. give us the winner. We have to have some. leverage to have something to get. somebody. I I you know, Shane Stiken, is.
he a lame duck right now? Probably. I. mean, he's probably a lame duck right. now with what he's got going on. So, do. we get we already paid Don Jones $100. million? Do we do we at least need to. see Anthony Richardson at this stage of. his career if we don't have any hope. anyways? Like, do we need to see what. that is? Cuz that could potentially be, you know, trade value as well. Former. number four overall pick with a lot of. upside. I know there's a lot of coaches. that think if he was in our building, we'd be able to do. It's like there's so. many decisions to be made. That's why. firing the GM, it's like, "All right, okay. Appreciate you doing." and then.
moving his second in command guy into. it. It's like. >> so the guy like cuz that's the that's. the tough part is like now it's going to. be on Carly and ownership to say what. they want this trade deadline to look. like because unless this guy's getting. the keys for a longer period of time. He. he's making decisions on an interim. basement. That's what I'm saying. >> So can't be hired for that new. >> this is what we are planning to do. You. have to execute our vision. >> Yeah. Yeah,
>> that's. >> Yeah, it's gonna be tough to see. I'm. happy I'm not in there, you know. Good. luck to Carly, Kaylin, and Casey. Good. luck. >> Good luck, baby. >> Good luck. We signed Thomas Morstead. >> We did. Um, >> I don't know how I feel about him. wearing number four. >> Yeah, that's interesting. >> Right after Vinnie going into the Hall. of Fame, but uh. >> yeah, >> I don't know. I mean, I love obviously. love Thomas, but um. >> we love Thomas Morstead taught me how to. punt. I love Thomas Morstead. I'm a huge. fan of Thomas Morstead. I I He posted a.
picture of him wearing with the number. four jersey yesterday announcing he was. on the Colts. I have not talked to him. He did call me the other day, but he was. holding up the number four uniform and. we all immediately were like, "We love. Thomas." But I mean, he just went into. the Ring of Honor, this mess. He just. went in the Ring of Honor. I don't know. what. >> he's honored. That's how he's honoring. Vinnie, though. Maybe, >> right? He's in the Ring of Honor, but. the number's still available. >> It's Harbaugh's number two, right? >> True. >> Am I wrong there? also in the Ring of. Honor. >> Yeah, he he is in the Ring of Honor.
>> Had a cup of coffee. >> You know what, Thomas? [ __ ] it, dude. Just wear it. >> You know, we all got GM, dude. We've won. two games in the last 13. We're damn. near what the Browns used to be, dude. We're all We're We're triple fours, man. >> Take 18. >> Why not? Why not put 87 on? Put 87 on. Maybe a ar going to the 18. We're about. two weeks. If he keeps doing it, about. two weeks believe ours again.
>> 93 on there. >> I I. >> would be a believer if he gets in there. and plays football in a professional. manner. I would be right at this moment. We paid Daniel Jones $100 million over. the next three years. >> Yeah. >> Let's move on to something else. Debot. has a question for you, J. >> You had the Bills and the Raiders last. week. I just want to know your takeaway. from both teams. Obviously, the Raiders. made it a game late, made some plays, almost, you know, had a chance to win. that thing. And then Josh Allen just. continues to be ridiculous. Still. question marks on that defensive side of.
the ball. They signed Tradavius White, so let's see if he can get back to form. What's your thoughts on kind of both of. these teams going forward after having. eyes on them? >> Yeah, I mean, I think it it's with the. Bills, the offense, we've kind of been. saying it for a while. Everybody kind of. knows that that offense is good enough. to win a Super Bowl. It's just if the. defense can catch up and they held on to. the ball better in this game obviously. than they have up to this point in the. last three weeks or so. Um Josh Allen. continues to do things that maybe only. he can do in some of those Brett Favre.
type plays where he draws up the. defense, flips it over the top. Um. didn't run the ball, you know, scramble-wise nearly as much as he did. Monday night, but it's very very good. It's all going to come down to their. defense and I I liked some of the stuff. that they did in the game in terms of. playing a little more man, being a. little more aggressive. Jim Leonard. putting Christian Benford directly on. Brock Bowers at times and that worked. really well. It was a fun battle to. watch all day long to just see how they. were trying to defend Brock Bowers. Um, and then on the Raiders side, I like the.
Raiders. Like I think Clint Kubak is a. very good football coach. I think Kirk. Cousins is not getting anywhere near the. credit he deserves for this season that. he's having. Kurt Cousins is playing. really, really good football. Efficient, delivering the ball. They don't. necessarily have the greatest receiving. core of all time, but they're playing. really well. Trey with the deep ball, the speed is insane. Brock is Brock. Um, the run game continues to be the issue. Genty is not able to get going. The. first drive of the game, we thought he. might have and then the rest of the. game, it was not really there. Mike.
Washington deserves some more carries, and we'll see if he gets them. They keep. saying they will. Um, so I think the. Raiders have the start of something. special. I think Clint Kubak is the guy. for them. It's really tough cuz I know. everybody wants to see Fernand Fernando. Mendoza. But Kirk Cous the absolute last. problem right now with that team and and. you don't talk about the trade deadline. Like if you're one of those people that. wants to see what Fernando looks like, you have an incredible piece in Kirk. right now. But he's playing so damn.
good. >> Yeah. I I don't I don't know if that's. the conversation. I might I might be. missing it. I don't know anybody uh. coming for Kirk's head even though they. haven't won a bunch of games. It is. fascinating that our entire angle is. like against the Chiefs they were close. Raiders are getting close. Against the. Bills, they were close. They were close. And it's like Raiders fans are like, "Yeah, it's nice to be close. It's. really nice to be close." Is Fernando. going to be the guy that takes him over. the top? Is Kubak and Fernando going to. be able to take him over the top? I. think getting a chance to watch Kirk do. good is great for him. Now, if Kirk.
would have came in and been asked, I. think we all would have got pretty loud. about what you want to see a number one. overall pick. What's the purpose of. using a number one overall pick on a. quarterback if you're not going to play. him? Throw him in the deep end. You. know, there's been the Tom Brady. approach has obviously worked. Aaron. Rogers approach has certainly worked. But if you ask Pton Manning, I think. Pton Manning says those first years. where I led the NFL in interceptions and. have a rookie quarterback record of. failure, it was actually good for my. development the way Pton was. Now, was. Payton ever going to sit behind anybody. in anything ever? Absolutely not. But if. he would have had a couple years, if.
Andrew Luck would have been able to. watch Payton Manning for like two years. or a year, how to operate as a. professional, would that have helped. Andrew Luck in the long term whenever. he's getting banged up and maybe maybe. wants to make some changes, doesn't know. that he's allowed to do that, but he. gets a chance to watch Payton do that. I. think that stuff is invaluable. So, Fernando getting to watch Kirk, who's. been around everywhere, and I think they. might have similar personalities. I. think him playing good football and. being able to showcase to Fernando what. a professional quarterback's allowed to. do and what it's supposed to look like, I think is a home run for them out.
there. I I genuinely think that if Kirk. would have been asked though, I think we. all would have been like, "Hey, >> at this point in the season, >> get this guy in there if if we're. already giving up hope." But it's nice. that Kirk is playing good because I. think this is only going to assist. Fernando long term on a lot of things. Like I talked about the Andrew Luck Pton. Manning thing a lot before. It's like if. Andrew could have seen the way Payton. operated and maybe just natural osmosis. picked up a few of that. And I think. Andrew ended up doing that later in his. career, he almost felt more confident. doing a couple more like the I'm also.
the head coach and a CEO of this locker. room uh type stuff where Andrew was so. like humble and like, "No, these guys. are really good football players." But. Payton was like, "Hey, if we were doing. this, we're doing this. Like if we if I. like this, we're doing this. If this is. best for us, we're doing this." That. would have helped Andrew. tenfold, I think, at the beginning of. this. So, Fernando getting to see that. while not getting injured, perfect. I. think we're all saying perfect outcome. right now, right, J? >> I I agree. And I think if you're a. Raiders fan and like listen, I they they. don't I said moral like there are no.
moral victories in the NFL on the. broadcast. And I get like, but if you. were sitting there before the season and. you said you're going to start out 3 and. 0 and you're going to lose to both the. Chiefs and the Bills who are AFC. favorites by three points each after and. you're going to be three and three, they. would have taken it. Now certainly you. wouldn't want to take the beat down by. the Patriots last week. That was not. that was a bad game. But everything else. around that like I don't think you can. be that mad coming off a three- win. season. You haven't even played your. number one overall pick yet. your young.
co your young head coach is clearly got. these guys bought in and is working. towards something like no it's not where. you ultimately want to be but you have. to be like optimistic right now. >> Yeah. Let's talk about optimism in the. stadium that is. >> 20 yards that way. >> So the home of the Los Angeles Rams AJ. has a question for you back at the. Thunderdome. Jage. Yeah, J, we know the. uh the Rams are two and four right now, which is something I mean, a month or. two ago, you would have never thought. that would be the case, I guess. Are you.
worried about this team or is there any. chance that they turn around? We know. Devonte just ruptured his hamstring, hobbled off the field. He's out six to. 10 weeks. What do you think of the. future of the Rams? >> Yeah, I mean, I this is crazy. Like, I I. was with everybody before the season. where you're looking at the lineup and. you're like, "All right, where where's. the weakness here? And how are these. guys going to find a way to struggle. against anybody?" And I mean, I'm. sitting here just like everybody else. thinking what what's going on here and. how is this going to look moving. forward? You lose Devonte, all these.
guys out like it's it's crazy. And I I. don't have a good explanation for it. I. I think Shawn McVey is an unbelievable. coach. I think that he's a great. motivator. He's a good communicator with. his guys. He's a great ex's nose. figuring out how to get stuff. So to. have them sitting where they are right. now is pretty baffling. And also looking. at them going forward, you thought, you. know, they were heading into this. stretch where there was going to be a. chance for them to really, you know, rip. rip a couple off, get back on track, and. then you a big upset with the Cardinals. winning. Shout out the old organization.
Cardinals. Um, but it's it's pretty wild. right now. And it's one of those things. where it's almost like it was so. universal that they were almost going to. go undefeated that inside that building. if everybody out here is questioning it. Imagine what the conversations inside. that building are like right now. >> Now it's not just losing games. AQ is. saying that some of these play calls are. just abnormal for Shawn McVey. You you. almost think that there is obviously a. litany of injuries. We haven't seen. Miles Garrett as a Los Angeles Ram yet.
What will that turn into? They have a. bunch of talent. Devonte now ruptured or. whatever. That's a scary situation or. word to hear. But you're saying even. some of the stuff that's happening uh in. the play calling is just not normal. Shawn McVey [ __ ] either, right? >> Yeah. J, I don't know if you watched uh. the game, but I mean, listen, there was. a there was a fourth and eight call that. you need eight yards and he called a. halfback screen to the left. That blew. my mind. And then there was also a. fourth and one when you got Kairen. Williams, you got Puka Nakua, and he. hands it off to a third string tight end. on fourth and one, right? If he makes.
it, yeah, everybody says great. But. there was multiple things in that game, even Matt Stafford looking confused at. times. I I just didn't think they looked. prepared. And when you look at Shawn. McVey over the years, he's always been. so prepared. His play calling's been one. step ahead of everybody else. And so. when I watched that game, I was like, what is going on right now? This whole. operation looks different. >> And it's not just Shawn McVey and the. Rams who look vastly different. There's. another team out there at Mile High who. look vastly different as well. Well, AQ.
has a question for you. >> Yeah, Jay, I don't know if you had a. coordinator switch midseason, but I. think uh obviously the Broncos make the. switch. They go to Shawn Peyton from. Davis, right? And whenever they did. that, there was reports that the. terminology changed. All these different. things changed. First of all, how hard. is that on a team to learn new. terminology, new plays mid-season? But. also, why does this offense look so bad? That's that's also surprising in that. the terminology would change so much for. somebody who's in the building and was.
underneath, you know, last year the same. regime. Like it's not like you brought. in an outside guy to put in a brand new. offense after a few weeks and yeah, that. there's going to be terminology changes. with that. Uh so it is surprising that. there will be so much change um. especially when you want that. continuity. So the whole the whole thing. they're they're not playing great. They're they're just not playing great. on offense right now. And clearly, it. didn't matter a whole lot who was. calling the plays. They're just not. executing well at any juncture right. now. And they're trying to find that.
magic again because going into this. season, everybody thought, you know, if. Bicks was playing last year, they're in. the Super Bowl. And now it's like. they're winning despite what's going on. on the offensive side of the ball. So, I. don't know. I I I'm You You have as good. of an answer as me. What do you think? Well, listen. I I know I went through. offensive coordinator change and and you. you end up switching the person, right? But like you can't change much, especially mid-season. It's like you. just spent 7 months installing verbiage, terminology, all the different things.
And so now what? You're going to install. a whole new playbook. You can't really. do that. So now it becomes about. execution. I think they they lack a. running game. I don't think. >> when you switch Yeah. When you switch a. play caller, like that's why the. terminology is so confusing to me. Like, yes, you can switch. Like, all right, are we going to is our grip back on. track play going to be a screen or are. we going to take a shot down the field? Is our short yardage play going to be a. quarterback sneak or are we going to run. the ball with the running back? Like, there's things you can change from just. a play calling mindset, but it's really. surprising that they would be changing. terminology in the middle like that.
>> Yeah, I think we're all kind of. surprised by Bo Nicks's development at. this stage. >> He looks scared. >> I don't like what they're calling him. They're calling him Oh, no. Bo. That's. what they're calling him. I don't like. it at all, Jage, because he looked. unbelievable going into last season, going into the playoffs, breaks his leg. We assume that's just going to continue. to ascend, maybe with a little bit more. spite, a little bit more revenge, but. instead it just hasn't gone great. >> Yeah, cuz it wasn't like the situation. where you see sometimes with like a. Anthony Richard for example, like, hey,
he's going to have to get reps in Lee to. get comfortable playing at a high level. quarterback. Like Bick's played a ton of. college football. He's with a OG play. caller, so he looked great and continued. to kind of progress. And now this year, you know, you're looking at clips and. you're hearing obviously other former. quarterbacks talk about him playing like. he's throwing a checkdown before routes. are even getting down the field with. clean pockets. So if I'm watching that. as a defender, I'm like, "Okay, this. quarterback isn't confident in either of. their play calls, the O line or himself, which you definitely don't want. And. teammates see that, obviously fans see.
that and coaches see that. So it's going. to be on coach." We had Steve Young. talking about the biggest thing for him. was like play call is to empower him, you know, empower him, you know, hey, open up playbook, you go out there and. protect me, let it rip and he's kind of. doing the opposite of that. But we're. saying all this and they're sitting at. what, four and two right now. So if you. got a head coach with Shawn Peyton, you. have that whole program. I still expect. them to kind of I guess figure it out. and still be in the be in the dance or. be in the running when it all comes to. fold at the end. >> I haven't had a chance to break down the. film yet cuz we haven't had them. I.
think there's a chance we got him next. week possibly with the Chiefs. But. >> Oh, >> is it as bad like I mean some of the. some of the things people are saying are. >> you hear Fitz Patrick? >> I mean I've seen it right. Yeah. >> Oh yeah. >> Fitz was passed dude. Fitz was like. really bad. >> Is it that bad? >> He stinks. >> I just I don't know. I'm viewing it as a. total offensive failure. I guess what. you just heard Debb say there as like if. I'm a DB and I'm looking at the. decisions he's making on film, it's. like, okay, this guy's scared to death. I don't have that type of perspective.
because I'm a punter. But I will let you. know watching them, I'm bummed out about. how that offense looks because like the. four yards per the four yards per. attempt. Like don't you just bring the. top of the coverage all the way down? Like just like everybody's up near the. line of scrimmage now. Like if you're. not going to take us over the top, all. of a sudden the run game gets that much. harder. All of a sudden everything gets. that much harder. >> Yeah. And that's what people are doing. But they're winning games still and. they're nowhere near being their best. So let's talk about a game that you. >> Yeah. Yeah, defense is unbelievable. They had.
banged up though. They were a little bit. banged up. So, there's winning with. banged up defense, which is their, you. know, um, bread winner. And then the. offense that we thought was going to be. Shawn Peyton, Drew Brees 2.0 with a. little bit more pizzazz cuz Bo can move. has just been a a. >> a big Dober Dawnfest. And uh, I don't. like that. You know what doesn't have my. Dober Don, J? >> What? >> Listening to you and Jim Nance call a. football game. You get me so excited at. home this upcoming weekend. You got a.
big one. Connor has a question for you, Jage. >> Yeah, J. Steelers and Browns are both. 4-2, but everyone seemingly thinks. Bengals Ravens are the class of the AFC. North, which I disagree with Tone, just. for the record, but you have that game. coming up this weekend in Baltimore. What's kind of your expectation of this. one? Uh, do you agree it's kind of. Bengals and Ravens have a kind of a. front seat to this division? And what. are you expecting? Is Lamar playing? Do. you have any inside info you can let us. know about? Have you talked to the teams. yet? Um, what is your expectation about.
Sunday? >> I have no inside information. I am. wondering and looking forward to finding. out the same as you are if he's playing. or not because I I love watching Lamar. play and I hope to have the opportunity. this weekend. We'll see today if he's. out there practice or not. I think it's. going on right now. Um, but I think this. is I don't I don't know if I would say. like it's this is this is the top two in. the conference just because in the. division just because I also didn't. expect the Browns to be where they are. right now and and the Steelers being. able to pull that one off when it didn't.
look very good for them early in the. game. So, this is a division and we all. know like this division every single. year is just an absolute bloodbath. And. now what I'm most excited about being. here for this game is that this game is. like one of those bloodbaths. And. there's plenty of additional motivation. in this one as well. I think the Trey. Hendrickson uh angle of going back and, you know, playing against his old team. for the first time is going to be a lot. of fun. Uh, I think that there's Jamar.
Chase and Joe Burrow have had a ton of. success against the Ravens in the past. So, I'm looking forward to seeing if. they get that connection fired up and. revved. Um, this there's just so much. here and like it just it's the black and. blue division. It's like it's going to. be a blast. >> How are you going in there uh taking. some punches from Jim Nance trying to. send his ass to the hospital again like. you did with his wrist? Did you expect. him to swing that hard? No way. We. talked to him yesterday. We're like, "Hey, I like that in your brain." Like.
at one point he was like, "I'm going to. try to actually get this out." Like I. think he was actually trying to punch. that out. Try to seize the opportunity. and instead he kind of hurt himself. Had. no swollenness or no injuries yesterday, which quick recovery still for Jim. Nance, which we should expect. But can. you talk about this situation and. actually feeling how hard Jim went for. it? And it's like, Jim, what did you. think was going to happen here? I I. think that was a good moment. >> Yeah. So, like I I obviously said like. hit it as hard as you got. And that's I. I thought was more of like a phrase like.
obviously I can't demonstrate how to. hold the football and not fumble and. then fumble it. So, I'm going to hold on. to that sucker like it's like it's my. child. >> And I I I knew he was going to hit it, but I just I had no idea that he was. going to legitimately try as hard as he. could to get that ball. And that what. the my reaction like immediately you. could feel like the reverberation where. like it goes up somebody's arm and like. I I was just like. >> all right man I I I hope you're all.
right right now. And then we got to the. break and he was like it was great. But. the thing I respect the most about Jim. Nance is that he just no hesitation. He. was almost excited to give every ounce. of energy he had into it and he was like. I'm going to give this sucker a go. and. he just full. oh it was awesome and and he committed. to it and that's what made it so good. and that it was just a real honest fun. ass moment in the booth. >> and in Jim's mind.
I force a fumble on JJ Watt right now. here we go Jim and he was going for it. >> that Blake groupy mindset. >> the Blake groupy mindset that's right. that is right we should celebrate that. >> that is that is. >> worked out for part of it all I was We. were we were talking about a real legit. conversation and then Monday Night. Football came up in the game like. McCaffrey gets it punched out. Maybe if. you're using the Eagle Claw, you aren't. getting that sick or punched out or the. wrist lock.
>> TSON had an incredible punch out. football. Thought it was Sunonny Styles. He had about 13 or 14 tackles. He had a. hell of a Monday. Let's talk about a guy. who had a hell of 11 minutes in the. fourth quarter for the New York Football. Giants. Tai has a question for you, Jage. >> Yeah, JJ. It has been announced that JJ. McCarthy is going to start on Sunday for. the New York Football Giants. Uh, and he. did. He had a hell of a fourth quarter. Came in and kind of just let it rip. Played without really thinking, which is. maybe what he needs to do every week. Maybe he just needs a harbball to be. coaching him. But what do you think of.
this decision? Um, the NFC East is still. wide open and it seems like this could. be, you know, this could either go very. wrong for the Giants or it could give. them the type of juice where they could. potentially run away with this division. Yeah, it seems like there's a lot of. decisions going on up there. Um, which. are I mean that's you have a new coach. and he comes in, he's implementing his. way and whether it's the Scataboo. running back, whether it's Naji Harris, whether it's this decision here, um, just trying to find the best possible.
way to win. And I the one thing that I. know about this, obviously I wasn't able. to watch the whole game cuz we were on, but we have the red zone on while we're. getting ready and everything and I just. saw a couple rips across the middle and. I thought to myself, "Wow, Jameus is. really firing that thing in there." And. then I came to find out it was JJ. McCarthy chucking the ball around. So, um, he's had some good comebacks before. in the past and wasn't able to quite. capitalize on that moving forward in the. future. So, I'm really looking forward. to seeing if sometimes we all know new. place, new opportunity. Is this the Is.
this the way? I don't That division has. plenty of opportunity in it. There's no. question about that. >> Yeah, the NFC East is the first division. in the history of ball to not win a. single game in a two-e portion. The tie. between the Commanders and Giants. certainly had their own gaffs and then. the lads continued for another week. JJ. McCarthy almost came back and won this. thing against the Saints. Is that trash. time? >> The first division to do what? >> To not win a single game in two weeks. Oh, this is this is a cell phone here,
but I I thought there's a shot that you. and I might have been a part of that. stat. I thought. >> since the thought since the AFC South. >> There was a thing though, like since the. Colts have been ass, the Texans have. been good. >> Like you guys have been you guys have. represented. >> somebody's Yeah. owning it. >> Jacksonville Jaguars now very good. I. think we all expect them to be good on a. regular basis for the foreseeable future. because Liam Cohen and Trevor and the.
lads have it figured out. >> The Titans have always been, you know, kind of hit or miss, but when Frabel got. in there, they were number one team in. the AFC for a couple different. occasions. So, we've always had rotating. casts who would represent for us, I. think, in the AFC. >> I feel like the NFC South also had a. shot at that with the because there's. always like a nine and eight winner, like eight and you know, I thought there. might have been a shot there, too. Yeah, it turns out having a tie on there is. really good in the NFC East. That might. come back and get them uh over the hump. to maybe host a home playoff game. One.
of these teams will do and everybody. will be upset about it. That'll. certainly be the case. Speaking of being. upset, I don't know if that's what leads. to unrest, either anger, upset, or piss. off, which has seen certainly appears on. some of the videos we're seeing on the. internet. Huge football game happening. this weekend in Paris. Bonjour Sava. Sava. Sava it appears. AJ has a question for. you. JJ. >> J. Yeah. Your brother is heading over to. Paris to play the Saints and there is a.
little bit of local unrest as people may. have uh I guess described the action. going on. How do you think this game's. going to go? And if has your brother, anyone else on the team let you know. like if they have any kind of worries or. sister-in-law or sister-in-law maybe? >> Yeah, anybody really. >> Um I know I I know that there are I know. people are concerned. Uh I know that. there have been meetings and security. discussions as there are with any. international game. Um I don't have a. whole lot beyond that other than I I.
mean I I know it would take a lot for it. to get uh to get moved or anything like. that because we all know the operation. that goes into this and we all know the. uh the magnitude of the financial. opportunities and the things that come. along with it. So I I would be pretty. shocked. Uh, but I would imagine there's. going to be some extreme security. measures taken for this game. >> JJ Pat McAfee from the Pat McAfee Show. here. As you're doing a press conference. for this, what do you think the players. will say about the uh unrest happening.
in France? >> I think they will say that they're there. to play a football game and that they're. confident in the security measures in. place and that they are looking forward. to playing a game. >> Darius Butler here from the Pat McAfee. Show. Um, >> love your work. >> Thank you. I appreciate that. I actually. forgot my question. >> Oh, really? Pat McAfee from the Pat. McAfee Show actually has a question for. you here, JJ. Actually, AQ Shipley from. the Pat McAfee Show has a question for. you here, JJ. >> Hand off. All right.
>> Yeah. Yeah. I got a question about the. Lou. Do you think they're going to check. out the Louve and have extra security as. they visit that uh pregame? >> It's actually a good question, AQ. I. appreciate you asking it. Um, I do. believe Oh, the Saints have been there. all week, have they not? >> Yeah, they went to a PSG game. Get back. to the Lou, please, JJ, as you were. handling the entire. >> Cuz now that now that I thought about. that, I completely forgot about that. Like, what what have they been doing all. week? They're fine. Yeah, go to L. >> Put me back on there. Put me back on.
there. Darius Butler from the Pat McAfee. Show. What do you think about the travel. plans, different travel plans for the. different teams? What do you think about. that? Especially what happened in. Australia earlier this year. >> Well, I think Australia was its own uh. thing. And I do think that you need I I. think going as late as they did, especially now that I've had more time. to think about it and we've all seen the. result of it. Um, actually, my wife and. I had a deep conversation about this. because we significantly disagreed. I. have always been on team go as late as. humanly possible. So, I was on the Ram. side for that. Um, and then we kind of.
talked it through and she backed me down. a little bit because of you need just at. at minimum that one extra day to flush. it out from the flight. Like I the the. time change and the sleep and everything. is one thing, but flushing out the. physical flight is another thing. I. don't like going a week early because I. know I mean I've researched it myself. That's not enough time to fully. acclimate to the time zone and. everything else that comes along with. it. So I do like the Thursday night, land Friday, flush everything out. Friday. You got Saturday kind of to get.
back on somewhat of a normal schedule. and then play Sunday. So I do like that. the one week thing is a little tough to. you're not really doing anything in my. opinion. >> Yeah. JJ Connor Campbell here from the. Pat McAfee Show. Um, do you. >> I don't know if I want to take questions. from you, but let's try it. >> Okay. Thank you very much. I appreciate. your kindness. Uh, do you expect Aaron. Rogers to go and visit Napoleon. Bonapart's tomb? And what do you think. uh Aaron Rogers will say about the uh. kind of situation developing over there? JJ? Well, if there was anybody that we.
would definitely want to get the opinion. of the situation and probably have the. most uh researched information on it, that's that's the one. >> And I don't know what he'll say. I mean, I don't know what he'll say on anything. Um. >> I have a follow-up to that, JJ. This is. Tony Diggs from the Pat McAfee Show. Um. do you think big Mike McCarthy is going. to poop in the sin or the Sen uh just. like they did before the Olympics? >> Who who pooped in the sin? Everybody.
>> Everybody. >> People were just pooping in the river. >> Yep. >> All right. This press conference. >> What do you mean? They were just. dropping their pants. >> Yep. >> It sounds like you don't know the. subject at all. Yeah. They're worried. about worried about. >> Why? Why you guys are acting like I'm. calling the Paris game? I don't know. >> The Olympics press conference. I don't. know. Look at the headline. >> Look at the lower third. JJ Watt press. conference on the state of the NFL. >> Why the press conference? >> Cuz you're JJ Watt. >> Cuz you're JJ. >> Yeah. I I I what what qualification do I.
have to be good at talking about JJ. freaking. >> why you having a press conference if. that's not what you're doing what are. you doing. >> that's what I want to know press. conference two of them. >> yeah you do know Europe you have two. different healthy that's what I want to. know I caught in my red zone him going. tent missing halftime is he fine is he. what's the deal. >> they didn't put me on in report so. >> yeah he he uh he was playing through it. he was playing through he got stepped on. had an ankle They were worried he wasn't. going to be able to make it to the. locker room.
>> That's that was that was great content. >> We didn't hear a single thing about the. Shanise there. The arc the triumph, the. Eiffel Tower. I mean, he asked about. Napoleon. You didn't say a single thing. >> Moving back. >> This is your press conference. It says. it right there at the bottom. >> Big fan of Paris. Hope that hope that. people are able to see it because it's a. phenomenal place. Fun story about Paris. I don't know how this applies, but maybe. they'll use it on their own broadcast. people who should be press conference. cuz they're doing the broadcast. >> Uh my brothers and I, we went on a trip.
uh early in my career. I wanted to take. them, you know, once I made a little. cash, we went and we stopped. Paris was. one of the stops on our trip and we were. not adjusted to the jet lag. So, we woke. up at 2:00 a.m. and we did a jog down. the Shanles through the Arctic Triumph. down past the Eiffel Tower and uh that. was a really cool life experience for. us. So, we have a photograph of us at. 3:00 a.m. underneath the Arctic Triumph. >> Would you do that tomorrow? >> They were both in college. >> Would you do that today? Identified.
himself. You identify yourself. >> Excuse me. Aaron Hall of the Pat McAfee. show. Would you do that tomorrow if you. were there? >> Back to full screen. JH, please. >> From what I've seen and what I like. Yeah. I'll go for a because because. what? Like I mean, yeah, try it. Try it. Rumors the Steelers were actually going. to go over early, but they were worried. that Aaron would be throwing so many. malts off cocktails 60 yards at people. that. >> that's not they didn't have a Louis. Vuitton front window that had like.
looked like somebody tried to drive a. car through it and it did not break. So, >> I remember. >> Yeah. I mean, they got some good. technique. >> What are they trying over there? Is it. Moltov cocktails? >> Couple. >> It's unrest. We need to It was just. unrest. >> I know. And I keep hearing unrest, but I. haven't I'm not I'm I'm so deep into. stuff that I'm studying that I don't see. the videos. >> Local unrest. is too high. >> This is what's going with the gas. These. people are not happy. No, they're. pissed. I don't know who they are, but. they're pissed. And. >> the videos with the manure. This is not.
that. >> Oh yeah, I think that's associated. >> Yeah, maybe. I mean, it feels like. they're always. >> Nope. Not going to get into that. I. don't know their history. No, I think. the world now can we make it your press. conference because I think. >> there's one thing that the world really. wants and it's Pat McAfei's opinion on. absolutely everything and so we would. love not on the football game your. analysis of the geopolitical effects of. the unrest. Go. >> Yeah. Over there def France a great.
football game is going to be played. Thank you so much JJ for handling it. all. You're the man. Thank you for. letting us out. Ladies and. >> gentlemen, it's JJ. >> Walk. J. >> I um uh I spoke to I don't even know. what that was. Gumpy. What was that? What do we know what that was? Gumps. What was that? >> Some sort of a seminar. >> He looked it conference. It appeared to. be a seminar for it was next generation. sports uh business. >> Willow Bay the dean of the school of.
journalism at USC put this on it's the. third year they've done this next level. sports USC a conversation with Willow. Bay who's a legend uh Bob Iger obviously. there as well uh many different. executives from a bunch of different. networks and then there was like a. hundred students from the school of. journalism 500 people allegedly in total. in the audience had no idea what I was. walking into uh but I was asked some. questions, had a good conversation, was. honored to be there, the previous two. people that did this. Uh Adam Silver and. Roger Goodell, third year they have made.
here. What a drop off. I apologize to. them all, but I was asked by one of the. students, you know, what are some. mistakes you've made uh that you think. you've learned from? And I said, there's. a lot of them. And I said, I think. dabbling in stuff that I don't know. enough about doesn't make society. better. I've learned it's not good for. me. It's not good for the show. Turns. out not good for society. So, I'm happy. JJ did that press conference for all of. us and not me. >> Yeah, >> cuz I've seen a lot of videos over there. and I don't know if I want to go play. football, but the NFL certainly will. Be.
your friend, tell your friends I'm nice. It might change your life. See you on. the other side. >> It feels like a special morning out here. in Provo. One that we will certainly. remember for a long time. Now, before we. get to Spider-Man here, we have to. introduce a couple BYU royalty members. A man who led the NFL in reception and. touchdowns at one point. Austin Collie. is here, ladies and gentlemen. >> Beast. Beast. >> The human Swiss Army knife here. A man. who was a quarterback at BYU, but played. every other position for the New Orleans.
Saints. Taesm Hill is here as well. And. we have our kicker. What's your name, brother? >> My name's Carter Smith. >> Okay. Carter, what year are you? >> I'm a freshman. >> You're a freshman. Have you ever kicked. before? >> Not footballs. >> Okay. Well, speaking of footballs, we. don't have a football. We need a. football. Let's look up in the sky. There is. >> a mascot that hopped out of a plane who. is circling above beautiful BYU's. campus. He said, "I took the ball. earlier. I'll be able to deliver it in.
from the sky." You're at 4600 ft. I'm. going to take off from 10,000 ft. Carter, when you're a soccer player, did. you ever It's about kicking a football. delivered by Cosmo from the sky. >> Yes, I did. Cosmo hits the mark perfectly. >> Let's go, Cosmo. >> Cosmo, thank you for bringing us the. ball, sir. I think a million-doll kick. is proper for what's happening here in. Provo. But it's not just a million from. me. There is a billionaire here that.
thought he was just going to poke in and. uh not do anything. Ryan Smith, the. owner of the Jazz and the Mammoth right. there. >> Yeah. He will also be putting up a. million dollars on this Kick Carter. >> How does that feel? >> A million from. >> Okay. And Sweeney, who is Ryan Smith's. business partner, also owner of the Jazz. and the Mammoth, who's a diehard Notre. Dame fan, he'll be putting in a million.
donation. So, this is a $3 million kick. 2 million. to you, $1 million donation from Notre. Dame. Sweeny, when did you start camping. out for this? >> We came out Wednesday morning. >> Okay. And it was for the kick. >> No. >> No. Just to have a good time. >> Yes, sir. >> And the kick thing was just if it. happens, it happens. >> Yeah. I didn't even know about it to be. honest with you. >> I love that. >> $3 million.
>> Jeez, Carter. >> What I think we need to do is give. Carter one more. >> Yeah. One more. >> One more for $3 million. >> Oh my god.
>> Let's go. The following program is a collection of. students talking about happenings in the. sports world. It is meant to be comedic, informative. The opinions expressed on. this show do not necessarily reflect the. beliefs of their peers, their boss, or. ESPN. There may be some cuss words. because that's how humans in the real. world talk. If you are a young, please. seek permission before watching any. further.
Hey, let's go. >> This show stinks and the fact that you. listen, we are very, very thankful for. >> McAfee on the line with a gorgeous. assist. >> The alltime leading tackler for the. Green Bay Packers. You. stop. Damn it. >> Be a friend. Tell a friend something. nice could change their life. sports.
>> Hello, beautiful people and welcome to a. magical what? Wednesday, October 21st, 2026. Hour of the sports program begins. now. >> football. >> Oh, it is spectacular. The boys back in. the Thunderdome obviously celebrated. every single day as do we. We're out. here at the NFL studios. That's Darius. J. Butler AQ Shipley back in a. thunderdome. AJ Hawk is there. The toxic.
table is there at Boston Connor and at. Ty Schmidt. One half of the hammer d. Cowboys AP Tone is here. Uh AP Tone. Yesterday DraftKings had a NBA tip off. day special promo happening about a. dollar in free bets every single time a. three went down. What happened yesterday. in the NBA? What was the story and how. many threes fell? Tone Diggs. Yeah, we. uh we alluded to it in the in the first. hour that the um Thunder were the only. favorite to win yesterday. The the 76ers. were a dog and so were the Stones. The.
Detroit Pistons were also a dog. They. both got wins yesterday. Uh but there. were 78 threes yesterday. So if you. participated, uh you bet at least $10. per those three games, you got 78 um of. those free credits back. >> That's They thought it was going to be. what 74 to 75. It was 78. Did we see a. lot of threes falling abnormally? What. was your big takeaway from NBA tipoff. day, Darius? >> Definitely not abnormally. I feel like. that was around what at least I. projected. Um, but different teams are.
going to play different styles. Obviously, the Celtics are going to jack. a ton of threes. You heard Conan talk. about it probably contributing to that. loss and that big time comeback from the. Pistons. But I think some of those, especially the superstars, I know that. player prop market at least, you know, hitting some unders, maybe some guys. coming out rusty, uh, but excited about. the games tonight. But threes are always. going to be a big part of today's NBA. >> AQ Shipley, big takeaway out of week six. of the NFL season. Okay. Yeah, let's go. over. Yeah. Yeah, let's do this. Okay. So, um AQ is about to do something that.
we uh we set up earlier. I do believe. it's uh this one and then we do this one. here. Yeah. Yeah. Let's follow AQ. Oh, a couch. Your big takeaway for this. particular weekend is that Green Bay. might be a true problemmo is what you're. saying. Ganon brings the cannons. Let me. talk about this and why this is so good. Because when you talk about the. turnaround from the Green Bay Packers,
it starts with Jonathan Ganon and their. defense. Their offense struggled to get. going this year. But let's take a look. at a couple plays. Here's three plays. Third down pressure package as we count. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 and eight. That is the. most important thing. He always has. seven or eight guys at or around the. line of scrimmage. But when you look at. this, it's 33 and it's seven over here. But you look at these two guys. We're. going to drop them out. That's the key. And we're always going to bring the. pressure away from where we're dropping. out. So 33 is going to come down near.
the line of scrimmage. You don't know. They got four to each side. Four there, four there. Is seven coming? Is 33. coming? Are they bringing somebody up. the middle? Nope. We're going to drop. these guys out and then boom, there. comes the pressure. You have no idea. The pressure under Dak Prescott, unbelievable all game. Caused a bunch of. incompletions. They are pressuring at a. higher rate than they have all season. long in the last couple of weeks. And. then whenever they're not pressuring, they're bluffing pressure and they're. bringing simulation. So, let's look at. the next clip. As we look at the next. clip. >> that comes up here, you're going to see.
seven guys on the line of scrimmage, right? We got 1 2 3 four five six seven. Again, we either have seven or eight. near the line of scrimmage. That's the. biggest thing. You have no idea where. the pressure is coming from. You got DBs. down. You got linebackers up. Everybody's over here. But again, number. 33's up there. So, you think he's. coming. He just came on the previous. one, right? Nope. He's going to bail. out. Dak Pres thinks he's good to throw. to the middle of the field because he. was on the line of scrimmage. Nope. He's. going to jump in front. And there's the. interception. >> Incredible job. But they have so many. interchangeable pieces. It's very.
similar to what he did in Arizona with. Buddha Baker and all the different DBs. Garrett Williams. you have no idea is. going to happen. But when we look at the. third play again, >> we are going to see seven and 33. That. is the key, right? And then you're going. to see the two guys over here, defensive. end, defensive tackle. You think they're. coming, right? Their hands in the dirt. They're edge rushers. They're going to. come. Nope, they're not. But check out. 33 again. Seven's up there. He can come. and probably in the next couple of weeks. he will come. But again, drop out and. bring number 33 unaccounted for Dak.
Prescott wide open. They don't have an. answer for it. Incomplete pass. >> So, you're saying John Ganon will bail. the cannons and then he'll also bring. the cannons. And 33 is seemingly the one. that everybody's keeping their eye on. >> This week he was. This week he was. But. don't don't get it twisted. Number seven. can come next week. I mean, they're. interchangeable pieces across the. secondary and they can bring whoever. they want. >> Yeah. And those three safeties, Javon. Bullard, number seven, obviously Xavier. McKenna number 29, and Evan Williams. number 33. Probably the best safety I.
guess trio in the National Football. League. They were everything DB had a uh. McKenna had a couple picks. Bullard. calls one of those with the tip pass and. Evan Williams. That pick was phenomenal. >> Phenomenal. >> Do we like We like this defense. Let's. go back to the Thunderdome. Ty Schmidt. Uh obviously you were worried whenever. Halfley leaves. Halfley leaves. They. bring in Ganon. Ganon had a couple. quotes about having fire in his gut and. getting the boys motivated out there in. Arizona. Now just focusing on D. Hey, good work. Good work. >> Now just focusing back on being a DC.
Have you liked what you saw? And then we. get Micah back. What? Week 12, week 13, everything's off and running, pal. >> Yeah, we'll see. I I was uh worried. initially because Jeff Hafley was so. good. But AQ actually said very early on. he was like, "Oh, I I love this for them. cuz he obviously got to talk with him. every week last year when he was the. head coach." And it it's pretty I mean I. think it's abundantly clear and we'll. see he might get the opportunity to be a. head coach again after this year. somewhere else because the defense has. been performing so good. But he's very.
clearly a very good defensive. coordinator and this is multiple weeks. in a row now. This isn't you know an. aberition like they like AQ said they've. kind of picked up the slack when the. offense hasn't really performed. And yes. it's it's very encouraging to know that. they don't have their best player yet. And when Micah does come back, it's just. going to kind of unlock things even. more. But their secondary is is. unbelievable. They lead the NFL in uh. turnovers right now or forcing. turnovers, which has kind of been even.
something with Halfley last year. They, you know, they they weren't turning the. ball over a bunch. They were just very. very good and very aggressive. So, if. they can continue this up, like this is. why I think, you know, I believe that. they can win the NFC North for sure and. have a deep playoff run because the. offense is starting to find it. And if. this defense can continue at this pace, like there's not going to be a whole lot. of teams that are going to want to see. them late in the season. >> I think Ty brought up a great point in. the fact that Michael Parsons hasn't. been there. And once he gets that guy. back, like he had with Josh Sweat last. year, that one-on-one pass rusher, I.
think that's going to unlock a lot more. things that he can do with this defense. and the pressure packages. But the other. thing as I got to talk to him every. single week last year, I thought the. thing that was most interesting that he. said was when he first kind of came up. with this hybrid pressure three DBs, three safety uh defense that he kind of. employed in Arizona started in. Philadelphia was they always played. cover one on the back end. It was always. man coverage and you put your DBs in. terrible situations. Well, now he's able. to play shell coverage and he's only. unlocked and they've turned this thing. into his defense from Philly but put it.
on steroids. AJ, you see the Green Bay. Packers defense hunt like that. You get. reminiscent of the days where the. defense led their team to a Super Bowl. with Aaron Rogers at quarterback. >> Well, of course. I mean, when you have a. guy like Jordan Love who's, I think, playing very well so far these last. couple weeks, especially and the. receivers are definitely stepping up. Christian Watson's an absolute star. If. you can, we've said before, if you could. have an average to above average. defense, you're going to be really good. But their defense is playing great right. now, especially these last three weeks. And I think that Dline is very like. unheralded. Not a lot of national. exposure to these guys, but not only are.
they stopping the run, they're getting. pressure on quarterbacks and forcing. guys like Dak Prescott into poor. decisions like this. >> AJ, week 12 potentially for uh Micah to. return. Now, that has not been. confirmed, but it was certainly hinted. at by Adam Shfter. And the insiders know. more information than we do. And we th. we heard week six Dallas Cowboys is when. Micah would return. Then we heard one. insider, I don't remember if it was uh. Shaft Jr. or somebody from outside say.
maybe week five, week six for Micah. Then Junior came on and said week six, week seven maybe for a return for Micah. And then Shfter came on the other day. and was like, you start looking at that. schedule. They got Minnesota, they got. New England, then they got Carolina, then they got a bike, then you go on the. other side. That's not a bad time to get. Mic back. It's the first time it was. introduced that it might be like week 12. when Micah returns. Does it matter? It. certainly does, right, for all parties, but we want him as healthy as possible.
and as close to Micah as possible before. he comes back with how good this defense. is performing. >> Absolutely. You want him feeling as good. as he possibly can. I think I even saw. something where he was, wasn't his own. podcast where he's saying like, I don't. need to rush back and all of a sudden, yeah, my ACL holds up or whatever, but I. pull my groin or something. That happens. a lot of times when people come back too. early. You're compensating and something. else happens. you pop a calf muscle or. something if you're nursing something. else. So, yeah, I think it's uh it. matters for sure, but you want Micah. healthy when you're going to make a. playoff push. >> Okay, joining us now. Speaking of. healthy, are you guys okay at.
quarterback at Ohio State? What? I don't. like what happened there. They're saying. that was uh here on Julian, right? They. got something in the in the elbow. Has. there been an official diagnosis? And. what are we hearing, AJ out of the. Buckeye world? >> I don't know if there's anything. official. I think it's an elbow, right? you're talking about possible UCL. whatever whatever anyone doesn't really. we don't really understand that. completely we hear about Tommy John. surgery in baseball when you hear about. this UCL situation but the fact that. he's out indefinitely and they're. preparing like he's going to be out for.
an extended period of time yeah. definitely uh it kind of changes the. landscape of college football I think. >> uh I would say yeah huge win for the. Ohio State Buckeyes over Indiana if. Marsh stays in bounds what's the story. line I think it's still that Julian Sain. uh is not going to be able to play for. the foreseeable future and they have a. backup quarterback when Jeremiah Smith. was potentially on pace to win the. actual Heisman and break every record. that a wide receiver's ever had at Ohio. State and maybe in college football. Huge story line there. Let's dive into. all the big story lines with a friend of.
the program, host of college game day. football and basketball. Every week he. stops by and gives us the Reese's pieces. from the weekend, ladies and gentlemen. Reese Davis. Re, what's going on pal? Three of us, three wide, we all wanted to say hello. to you. We appreciate and love you, brother. Thank you for doing this every. single week. That Julian Sain piece of. information feels like a massive piece. from the weekend. What says you, Reese. Davis? >> Pat, I agree. That is a huge thing and. really sort of underscores what I think.
the biggest takeaway from last weekend. was, just how small the margins are. between these teams. because I still. felt as if you could make a pretty good. case despite the loss to Texas that Ohio. State was the best team in the country. and certainly after they beat Indiana. you could. Now you don't really know. what you're going to get. And then you. have just how close Indiana was. Nick. Marsh steps out of bounds half a foot. just lands on the white. That stops the. nation's longest winning streak. That's.
how close Indiana is to being undefeated. and going on. And it really is that way. across college football. You think about. Notre Dame, BYU, Notre Dame should have. had one more second. Does that make any. difference if they have the extra second. or not? Maybe, maybe not. Difference in. winning and losing the game. Miami got a. call on a simultaneous possession play. in the end zone in overtime against. Florida State. Maybe they lose. And then. the one thing that I felt like I could. count on in college football week in and.
week out, maybe not Georgia winning. every week, but Georgia giving a clean. performance, particularly at home. >> And then Gunner Stockton just kind of. dropped the ball. I mean, Auburn was. reaching for it, but that's not the kind. of hit that normally makes Gunner. Stockton give up the football. Then. Georgia commits a penalty, and Auburn. beats them in the deep south's oldest. rivalry, 2724. And the one thing you thought, well, that is a lot. There's no way Auburn. goes into Athens and beats Georgia. That.
happens. So, you can't even count on the. things that you thought were the most. reliable things in the sport and it. makes it just absolutely fascinating and. delicious every week. You know, we've. talked a little bit about the officials. I'm seeing the past interference call. that was not. I don't want them to miss past. interference. I can live with that. I. can live with missed holes, pass. interference, all of that. >> The administrative stuff really needs to. get tightened up. You know, if there's a. second left on the clock or if the ball.
needs to be spotted a certain place like. the Oregon UCLA game, we need to get. those right. >> Yeah, I think the one second thing we've. already seen could certainly get added. back onto a clock. We we've seen that in. college football and we've seen reviews. do things that have changed the outcomes. of games or added adds another play. I. agree wholeheartedly that the Notre Dame. people should certainly have a gripe. about the one second and who knows what. could happen in one second in football, especially with how talented that Notre. Dame team is. I do think that is taking. away a lot of hype away from this BYU.
team. What a morning we had out there in. Provo, Ree. I I you've been a part of. game day for so long, both football and. basketball. I don't know if you've done. college game day basketball out there, but I'm not a 100% sure I had any idea. of what was in store for us on Saturday. morning. They had been camping out since. Tuesday. They stormed a field for the. kick. They stormed a field afterwards. It felt like an entire state was riding. alongside of us all damn day for college. football. $3 million kick made. Ryan.
Smith and Sweeney certainly really. pumped. They they showed up. They were. told the night before though, Reese, you. were there. I told Ryan, "You come to. that kick. You come to that kick. It's. definitely going to happen." He wanted. to come support a friend is what he. said. Me as friend of his said, "Hey, got good news. You could be a part of. this." So he and Sweeney massive pieces. of the entire culture. Taesm Hill, Austin Collie, I mean Steve Young going. 10 for 10. The chance, the energy, Cosmo. came in from a plane, then they get the.
win at the end of the night. I mean, it. was a legendary Saturday for our. particular program, College Game Day, and I'm very lucky to be a part of that. But I'll never forget that for the rest. of my life, Ree. I I don't think I'll. forget that Saturday morning for the. rest of my life. It was just such a. different awesome experience. I I don't. know how you have explained it to. others, but it felt unique, and it. certainly was, brother. It certainly. was. It. >> Pat, there were so many. You just listed. those different aspects. We've had.
unbelievable crowds. I think maybe prior. to this uh Cal was as memorable as. anything that we've done because we were. so surprised at the magnitude of that. and how engaged they were. But there. were so many different facets to this. show and there was such a um a genuine. outpouring of enthusiasm and love for it. and they were excited to get a chance to. prove themselves against Notre Dame. And. it's it's as memorable a morning, as. memorable a show as we've had. I've been.
on the show 12 years now. And we've had. some great ones, man. I loved going to. Washington State and uh fulfilling that. quest they had for 15 years of getting. game day to their campus. Cal was. phenomenal. James Madison, we had a. Jonas Brothers concert breakout. But. that thing Saturday morning at BYU was. uh was as as good as it gets, man. It. it's uh it I I feel fortunate too, man. I love this sport so much and to be able. to be part of it and be in atmospheres.
like that and share it with all you guys. and we get to sit around for three hours. and talk ball and and to have some fun. with it too and sort of capture the. atmosphere. >> Tough to beat. Tough to be tough to top. that one, but I'll bet Utah tries on. Saturday, don't you think? >> Yeah. The mighty Utah student section, the must. Uh they definitely saw what. happened at BYU and we I talked about. this yesterday. We are so fortunate that. these schools come show love and show up. for their institutions whenever College. Game Day comes to town. Utah whenever we.
were there a few years back and we've. been there two times now. I've loved my. time there for the Utah youths. I I have. enjoyed their student section. I've. enjoyed their energy. I have enjoyed. what they brought. But to your point, whenever you look back, it's like the. JMU won absurd. Young Bailey Zimmerman. also performance with the Jonas Brothers. there. He has gone on to become a. massive star. Maybe Game Day, you know, has an eye for uh the music world going. forward. I don't know how music always. works with the game day crowd. I think. we're all kind of witnessing that every. single time there is a performance. Some.
of the some of the folks in the crowd. might not know the songs and then does. it seem like they're not interested or. they just listening to the song having a. good time? Whatever. We are always. thankful. But you're right, the James. Madison crowd gigantic. Montana State. was so cold. I mean, that was there was. fires and stuff all night as we're. sitting in the ice cold. Going to BYU. for the first time in 17 years was. awesome. We head back Houston, Utah this. upcoming weekend. Before we talk about. this upcoming weekend of college ball, we got to certainly talk about some.
decisions that have been made. Tone. Diggs has a question about what's going. on in Michigan. Big moves, big money. moves being made up there. >> Yeah, Ree. Uh huge money moves uh with. what Bryce Underwood is reportedly being. paid at Michigan to play quarterback. Uh. Tommy Carr comes in the second half. against Penn State. Looks really really. good. You know, has two rushing. touchdowns, moves the ball. They scored. 21 points in the second half versus zero. in the first half. What are your. thoughts on that situation up there? Because I know the schedule's still. tough, but they looked like a lot better.
football team in the second half. And is. there any chance that could potentially. happen down in Texas this weekend? I don't think anything's off the table. I think this is a real uh crossroads. type moment for Texas as a team and for. Arch as the quarterback. Now, look, Arch. is super talented, but it just doesn't. look right right now. It It's never one. person's fault. Everybody has to share. responsibility, but you know, you look. at all of the weapons, they they don't.
do a great job on the offensive line. When you go back and look at the tape. later, you see some uh, you know, easier. access, quicker release type throws that. are maybe passed on that then create. some of the problems. They haven't been. able to run as effectively. Um, but. something has to change for Texas. Now, does that have to be the quarterback per. se? I don't know. But they're too. talented. They've got too much invested. in terms of the big money question to. perform offensively the way they've.
performed up to this point. and to see. them sort of jump out to a lead on. Florida. And I went back and rewatched. that game this week. To see them jump. out and then just sort of fizzle and go. flat and not do much. It was kind of uh. jolting, startling. And you know, maybe. I I still believe Arch is really. talented. I hope he can turn it loose. and find it. That would be best for. everybody involved. And if if they need. to coach better, call plays better, um. get the ball out of his hand quicker, whatever it might be. Um I hope that.
happens for him because you don't you. don't like to see anybody who's as. gifted as he is struggle uh the way the. way he has or at least not play to the. level of his capabilities. But it's a. big week. coming in. Big week. >> Yeah, huge week. And we'll pivot to. Trinidad Chamblas and Old Miss here uh. after this wrap-up of the Arch Manning. convo. We've seen greatness. It's in. there somewhere, you know. It's just can. it consistently be? Is it technique. driven? Is it decision-making driven? Is. it confidence driven? Is it whatever it.
is? We don't know. But we're watching it. unfold. And I think everybody is seeing. the same thing. They take on Old Miss. and Trinidad Chamblas. And everybody has. said for a long time Trinidad Chamblas. might be the best quarterback and the. best football player on any field in. college football. They have a big time. loss. They have to move on. Where do you. sit with Miss right now? where where do. you kind of stand with this team? How. should we be viewing them? Should we be. viewing them as if we just came off the. LSU win and they're untouchable or. should we be viewing them after a couple.
situations where maybe they're not. perfect cuz no college football team is. >> Yeah, I I think the um I think a lot of. us were sort of shaken by the Florida. performance. Not necessarily that they. lost, but that they kind of got handled. Um I thought it was a really good. response for them against Missouri in. their most recent game. But now you go. on the road um you know going to be. taking on a team that is desperate sort. of a if not now when type of game for.
Texas. So I I think we look at Miss the. same but Miss has some vulnerabilities I. think uh on defense in the secondary. I. thought their defensive line would be a. little bit more dominant than it has. been up to this point though they. certainly played well Saturday. Um, so I. I think you still look at Old Miss as a. contender and based on the way things. are unfolding in the SEC. Um, I think. you make a pretty good argument that. they're probably the second best team in. the SEC behind Georgia at the moment. But in order to be that and maintain.
that, uh, they'll need to play well on. on Saturday night and see if they can. get a win on the road. And that'll be. very difficult, I think, because. desperate teams often bring their best. ball. And we'll find out if Texas can do. that against a really, really good Old. Miss team. >> Arch Manning's what, four-0 against top. 10 teams down there in Austin. You know, he has massive wins across the board, even though everybody's talking about. him maybe getting benched because. there's a lot of talent in Texas. Hopefully, you know, Arch Manning in. Texas can figure it out, but Trinidad.
Chamblas coming to town isn't the right. person you're trying to figure it out. with. IU with Michigan. Uh, I know. that's a big decision. I think some Ohio. State Buckeye people that we know. >> um say. We don't like that that happened. We. don't like that Tommy Carr is now the. starting quarterback for Michigan. because their defense has been one of. the best in the country and now. offensively they might be able to get. some stuff done that they weren't able. to do with Bryce Underwood. Maybe Bryce. Underwood gets a chance to step back and. develop and play good football watching. somebody else do it. AJ, I I think.
you're a little bit nervous right about. Michigan's big move at quarterback. Is. that not is that not a accurate. depiction of what you're saying? >> Well, I mean the fact that he steps in, the team looks very good. He energizes. the whole squad. I know their defense. has been elite all year and then Ohio. State's starting quarterback goes down. indefinitely. Yeah, it's uh it's. definitely a time of change in college. football, but I still feel pretty good. about Ohio State's chances. >> Okay. Yeah, loves Ohio State. His first. thing was like, I don't like that. they're moving to maybe a better. quarterback and we are in an open. quarterback competition for the. quarterback at Ohio State at this stage.
of the season. What are they doing over. there? Age and Ree, you might know. better. It is a quarterback competition. for the backup or they already have a. guy. Yeah, Reese, actually I want to ask. if you have any insight on this. Luke. Fehee and Tavian St. St. Clair. Ohio. State has a buy this week and then they. travel to USC after that. It basically. sounds like we're having a 10day kind of. open QB competition. It sounds like. coach day, I guess, says that whoever. gives us the best chance to win will. play. Like what do you think plays out. here, Ree? >> You know, I think because uh Fahhee won.
it in the in camp and finished, you. know, with the backup role behind stay. in first. I my suspicion is that he will. get the start. But if Tavian Stlair, who. is so highly touted and has a lot of um. a lot of natural ability, if he can be. close during this 10day period, AJ, I. would imagine he will get his. opportunity at some point. I'm not. implying that there would be a short. leash necessarily for Fehee, but if you.
don't have a proven commodity back there. and you have the stakes that Ohio State. has, you you might have to roll the dice. a little bit. So, um, very difficult. situation that he was put in last. Saturday after Julian got hurt and we'll. see how he responds with a little more. time. I think the by-week is a a perfect. thing for the Ohio State quarterback. situation. They'll get a chance to. evaluate everybody and get both guys. comfortable in their role and I wouldn't. be surprised to see them use both of. them until one of them steps forward in. in a game-like situation. Ree super.
dober don situation for all college. football is the 2014 playoff was. basically instituted debuts got the last. question for you about everything this. past weekend. >> Yeah, I definitely hated it uh initially. but last week the week seven that was. crazy. I was like all right maybe they. got something here. I know you've. covered the game, been in the forefront. of covering the game through all the. areas, the BCS, the four team, the 12. team, and now we're going to go. eventually, well, next year into the. 2014 team. Uh, did this weekend change. your mind about it? And what are your. thoughts about the 2014 playoff?
>> I I mean, I I'm still not in favor of. it, uh, Debut. I'm really not, but I. understand the point because the one. thing I don't know that I've done a good. enough job explaining my position. Once. we get there to the 24, it's going to be. awesome. I mean, you know, two two weeks. with basically two sets of eight home. games, that's going to be a lot of fun. My my um hesitation or uh objection to. it is I feel like the cost is a little. too high on the front end and sort of.
taking away from the stakes uh for games. like we had last week. But I don't think. there's any question that once we reach. that playoff stage that it is it's going. to be fantastic. And you know, I'm I'm. not taking a position like you know, you. heard with people, some fans sometimes, even some coaches when NIL came around, oh they start paying the players, I'm. never watching again. I'm I don't feel. that way at all. I just don't know that. it's best for for the fabric of the.
sport long term. if it's a decision made. with some immediate gratification that. has some long-term ramifications that we. haven't seen yet. But I think that when. when we actually get to those games and. you're playing those playoff games on. campus and a lot of teams are involved. and there will be some chaos, that part. of it, there's no question that part of. it will be fun. >> Man, people got really mad though about. it. I mean, people are really mad about. it. You know, Coach Sab, you I believe. you were one of the uh I don't like it.
I I think there's just been so much. there's been so much radical change to. something that is so. >> kind of rich with tradition, you know. So I I think anytime and I I. >> I mean this the name of the show is uh. after me so I can only really give my. perspective but me dropping into college. game day was quite a radical change for. college football and college game day as. a whole and I got to experience the. college football traditionalists who. very much hated what I brought into it. for a long time now. I think we've won.
some people over which I'm grateful for. and I'm very lucky and have been for the. entire time to be a part of it. But I. got a chance to actually physically feel. and experience a radical change to. something with this exact group of. people. I think that is the biggest. takeaway is like we're making a lot of. very big changes to people that have. loved something for a very long time. with how it is. Let alone the. professionalism of a sport now. Now we. got free agency and everything's. happening. We go from 2 to 4 to 12 to. 20. It's like everything's happening so. fast. I feel like a lot of college.
football fans are like this is. disrespectful to us. Like you are just. basically saying that thing we love. thing that we've invested our entire. lives into not good enough. We have to. change it completely. I I think there's. a little personal offense that is coming. to a lot of these college football fans. as well for something that they feel. rightfully so they have built up. alongside the fabric of the sport and. the environments. I I I think that's a. real part of this entire conversation as. well. I. >> I think that's a that's a fair. perspective and I think there are a lot. of programs that historically haven't.
been in the mix who, you know, would. say, well, Ohio State, Alabama, Michigan, whoever it might be. Of. course, they don't want it because. Georgia, they've always ruled the roost. and now they won't have that, you know, same type of opportunity. I would say. they already don't have that because of. the other factors that you've mentioned, the player movement through the portal. NIL has allowed more programs to uh. recruit players and pay them and give.
them opportunities on the field to. spread the talent out a little bit, which I think that part of it's a a. really good thing. All All I'm really. saying I maybe I just haven't quite yet. found a way to articulate what I mean. I. I love the feel that we had Saturday. with BYU and Notre Dame that while they. had a second chance, it boy, it meant. so, so much. You know, I remember a game. a few years ago, LSU and Alabama, Joe. Burrow against Tua, and that did turn.
out to be everything. Now, you could. argue the playoff was only four then and. that's too small and it meant too much. And I think that's a fair take. I I just. I don't want to lose that because we're. we're still the only sport that has that. in the regular season. It does stink if. you're a great team like Notre Dame last. year and you come up short in a couple. of big games, you don't make it. I get. that. I totally understand that. But I. do think there's a lot of value to the. popularity and the intensity of the. sport on a weekly basis that this might.
be the week that decides it all. You. know, it just might be. That's still. going to happen to a degree. And you've. made that point. You made it very well. It's just going to go down the chain a. little a little bit farther. It's going. to be, you know, 20 versus 22 that might. mean everything instead of, you know, six versus eight or something. >> Yeah. And then seating is going to. matter. Home playoff games are going to. matter. You know, it's just more of an. NFL mindset as opposed to what college. football has always been. And there will. be complaining about who the 25th team.
is. >> always. >> and the 26th team. And that that'll be. fun cuz it's probably going to be West. Virginia more often than not. But we're. going to be in there in top five as. well. We got things figured out. Michael. Hawkins Jr. staying in West Virginia. forever. He has to. Right, Ree? Has to. >> That That's what we want. Let me Can I. float something to see what you guys. think of it? >> Okay. >> You're talking about the home games. I. really want to see the committee once we. get to 24. I don't want anybody to have. to sacrifice a home game. If you're in. the top eight or if you're in the top.
16, you stay within that group and get. your home game at the round you assign. But within those groups, I hope the. committee will move teams around and. give us favorable matchups because. there's not there's not a lot of. difference in a team ranked 17th and. 20th. There's really not. >> Oh my god. If they start judgmenting for. the game on the rankings, people are. going to get so mad. Oh, so winning DC. versus the Big 10. Okay, so they move. them from four to six. That's what we're.
doing. They will get so to avoid. rematches. What about to avoid. rematches? Would you be okay then? >> I'm I'm 100% okay with us getting the. best matchups. I I am I would like to. let it be known that me speaking into. this microphone as the human that I am. as a person that gets to do college game. day. We get to call the games. We get to. be a part of the everyday fabric of. sports as a whole. We would love if it. was SEC verse Big 10 and Big 10 verse. SEC different Big 12 ACC. Somebody has. to try. We would love if that was what. the playoff structure was. I'm just.
telling you, people are going to get. pissed if they uh if they're moving. around rankings to get a big game, a big. notable game as opposed to what it's. supposed to be. They will get so mad, but they're going to get mad anyways. Speaking of getting mad, thank you for. allowing us to do this this year. We are. pumped to reveal. Ladies and gentlemen, AP voter Ree Davis has provided us with. his full transparent week whatever this. is top 25 way to make your decision. BYU. number one team in America. Holy hell.
How did we get here? Reese Gumpy. screaming over there about the. >> What are you doing, man? >> There he is. Okay, so you got BYU at. one. Ohio State after a big win over. Indiana even though they lose their. quarterback at number three. Notre Dame. lost to BYU last play. Should have had. an extra second. We understand BYU great. football team. They're number one team. in the country. That's why you got them. at four. IU suffers their first loss in. forever at five. That then the rest fall. in there. How do we make these. decisions, Ree? And what is everybody. pissed off at you about?
>> Okay, Gumpy I know is mad about Notre. Dame or pardon me, Brigham Young and. Miami. I felt like that Brigham Young's. win at this point was better than. Miami's. If Miami had really handled. business against Florida State, I. probably would have given the Canes a. nod because first draft I did have Miami. number one. Kind of went back and forth. on that. So, people probably a little. bothered by it. Full disclosure, they. met on a neutral field and someone asked. me to pick the winner, I'd pick Miami. But so this is a little bit of an edge.
in resume. right now. >> Don't be thankful for what you said. Yeah, >> I think uh I think Ohio State is more of. a you know, it's a tenuous hold on. three. I It's a sort of a placeholder. right now because I do need to see what. they look like at quarterback without. saying. I know they're talented. everywhere else. I need to see that. But. probably the thing, and I actually got. an email, Pat, and this doesn't happen. to a lot of us, uh, but the people who. run the poll said, "You are one of the.
ones that either has Florida unranked or. ranked behind Texas. Are you sure that's. what you meant?" And it was my feeling. was even though I've got all kinds of. questions about Texas, obviously. I still think that Texas probably has. the best pair of wins in college. football by by beating Ohio State with. Sean and then winning at Tennessee who's. really good on defense. And Florida's. losses, you know, the magnitude of the.
losses, how badly they were beaten. factored into that. probably a few other. things. A lot of quarterback questions. in there with injuries and so forth. I'm. still I love what UCLA is doing. Still. question, you know, their backup. quarterback situation, but I'm sure. people are mad about a lot of things, but those are the ones that have been. most notable. >> Thanks for letting us put your vote out. every single week. It has been a massive. boost for us to see how people are. actually thinking that have the power to. put these numbers next to these teams. because in the end, it will matter. CFP. voting is really the only thing they go.
for for the playoffs, but they certainly. watch the AP votes all year long. I do. like that the AP came back to you Reese. and said, "Hey, bud. They [ __ ] played. They played and uh. I like that they did that. I appreciate. that they did that just to look out for. you." And I like that you stood on. business for it. Now, you know, Ree, the. thing we follow up every single time. with your AP top 25, you're in the. weeds. You're deep down there boots on. the ground. Your vote in your poll. matters. Let's go to one that doesn't.
necessarily, ladies and gentlemen. >> Oh, it matters to me this week. >> But nobody's looking at this and saying. this team's ranked top of tones poll. This team's ranked kind of off center a. little bit at the bottom to the left. hanging that way to the nobody's saying. that, you know. So that's the reason why. we don't say it's like an elite one. >> Saying that in my algorithm. >> Okay. I like that your people are saying. I need my algorithm to get a little bit. more like your algorithm. That's. probably some pretty funny jokes about. Tones poll in there. I'd like to hear. that. But ladies and gentlemen, it's.
time for Tones above average poll. BYU. >> Tone, can you tell us why BYU sits at. top your above average poll on this. particular Wednesday? >> It's actually really funny cuz um. exactly what Reese said is exactly what. I was planning on say that on a neutral. field, I would probably take I know I. would take Miami. I have them. What the hell are you guys doing, Dan? Man, >> that's not what the pool is about. Okay,
I break it down and I build it up every. single week. Okay, BYU's got the number. one strength record in the country. They. have a much higher strength of schedule. in the country than the Miami. Hurricanes. They just beat Notre Dame, who's one of the best teams in the. country, while the Hurricanes kind of. struggled with the shitty seminals at. home in two overtimes. Okay, >> rivalry game. >> It is a It is a rivalry game. So was BYU. Notre Dame. That's how they were taking. that. I'm just saying right now that the. more impressive schedule and wins and.
everything that goes into doing a. rankings, not a power ratings, be BYU is. at the top of the pool. And then Miami. is right there. I wrestled with it all. week long. And then, you know, I had to. show some love to UCLA and Bob Chzn who. remind me very, very much of the 2024. Indiana Hooers. >> I got a question for you and Reese. What. uh obviously you got your teams there. What coach do you trust? I guess from. Reese's top five, those top five cuz. we're at this point in the season where. we feel like, hey, those are the top. five teams in the country. What coach. and his two national champions of recent. national champion, Ryan Day and Kurt.
Signetti up there. What coach do you. trust the most? >> Sig. >> If Yeah, me too. I mean, if you if you. ma I think all five of those guys are. really good coaches. You make me put one. at top that ranking, it's got to be. Signetti. >> All right, Reys, we appreciate the hell. out of you. We appreciate your poll. We. appreciate uh everything you do for. college sports. You're the man, >> guys. Always a pleasure. See you soon, Pat. Thanks, guys. >> Is Alabama okay? Uh. >> oh.
>> Is Alabama okay? >> They don't look like it. They surely. don't. >> Reese David, >> I love that. Just a nice little recap. Penn State's not in there. >> No, they're sure not. And let me let me. talk about something, too. When it comes. to UCLA, why is UCLA. number three in Tone's poll and 12 in. Reese's poll? >> Well, Tone said he wanted to pay respect. to Bob Chzn, who was the 2024 Indiana. Hooers. But remember, his is not an AP.
poll. It's just an above average poll. that he's got to put two things down. there hanging. >> I get that. But the interesting thing. about UCLA, right, like are they for. real, I guess, is the question. They're. six and0, right? And Tone Tone loves. them, obviously. JMU, I get it. He's. he's a sig disciple, right? But. >> coach, >> like are they a very good football team. or have they just been a product of. playing. >> better than they are against lesser. >> they be Oregon? What do you want me to. do? >> Oregon. >> Is Oregon that good? >> Still Oregon. It's a $50 million roster.
I I guess maybe allegedly. I don't know. I guess your thought would be, do they. have enough big time players to play. against the big time teams in the big. time moments down the stretch? And I. think with their physicality, they can. neutralize a lot of that. Tone, is that. why you have them down there as the. lower one on the bottom of the poll? >> Yeah, it's Yeah, because when I think. BYU and Miami are better teams. They all. have the same record, but I think BYU. and Miami are better teams. I wrestled. with Utah down there, Texas Tech down. there. They're all very similar in that. in that spot. But no, I I think to to.
AQ's point, I think once you get to the. playoff, kind of like that IU team in. 2024, I think they will be exposed. But. I for what they are right now and their. schedule and what they've done so far, I. I I like them a lot. They play great. defense. They've given up 315 and seven. the last three weeks on defense and they. and they run the [ __ ] out of the. football. Um so I like them, but I think. they probably will get exposed in the. end. Yeah. >> All right. Well, we appreciate you guys'. college polls and uh we will certainly. keep an eye on them and have a nice grip.
and grasp on those as the season. continues to unfold. Thank you to the. college football world for being so. electric. And we'd also like at this. time to thank the wonderful MLB. Hey, listen. You guys have had a phenomenally. long and great season. There's a lot of. conversation about what the future is. Will there be a season? Will there not. be a season? Who cares? Right now, we've. made it to the biggest time in the. Diamond Ball. Ladies and gentlemen, the. World Series starts on Friday. Joining. us now is a man that's probably going to. win the NL Sai Young. A man who has.
defied physics and baseball with how. damn powerful he is with that right arm. He seemingly has the reach of a man who. can touch home plate if he wants to. It's not an elbow's call on beer pong. This man is just built differently. He's. built to hawk a baseball. He's the. starting pitcher for the Milwaukee. Brewers. Ace in the World Series. Ladies. and gentlemen, joining us, the Miz, Jacob Miseroski. >> Hell yeah. Oh, thank you guys.
>> You made it to World You made it to the. World Series, bro. Here we go. >> Wow. >> You did. Yes. >> Okay. Can you go back to Little Kid? You. uh in Kansas, I do believe probably. doing the. >> What's that? >> Missouri. The other side. The better. side. >> Close. >> [ __ ] What What was the name of the city. in Missouri? >> Green Valley. >> God. So, I wasn't even Kansas City. I. couldn't even, you know, I was trying to. work my way I was trying to work my way. into being right. Nonetheless, let's go. back to the kid in Missouri who loved. baseball, fell in love with the sport. I.
assume there was times in your mind. where you say, "All right, World Series, here we go. I'm doing this." Now, you're. just days away from actually having to. compete in a World Series game, the. biggest of the big. Where are you. mentally? And how does it feel to be. able to accomplish this alongside the. boys to get to this point? >> Yeah, I mean, it's been awesome. You. know, this this these guys have been. nothing but the best. And. no, there's not there's not many words I. can put together to talk about our. season we've been having. It's it's been. awesome and it's been a dream come true.
>> Skipper Murphy, you know, he doesn't do. any handshakes whenever you guys are. getting introed. He doesn't say it's old. school baseball. It's the only way to. play baseball. Can you tell me a little. bit about your culture? You just said. you've had such a magical run. What is. the culture of your clubhouse and how do. you think Skip is the one that kind of. influences it all? Yeah, I mean it's uh. it's kind of a college mentality when it. comes to how he controls the clubhouse. and you know he's going to he's going to. be stern with you, but he's also going. to be your best friend when uh when the.
timer rises. So he's uh he's awesome and. you know he's also crazy in a way. >> Crazy. Is he chew your ass out? No way. I heard you pitchers are weird. Nobody's. allowed to talk to you guys. Is that. accurate? >> No, no, no, no. All the time he he lets. me hear it. You know, he he gives. everyone nicknames and you know he has. fun with it. So, it's uh it's a. different culture in there. >> What's he call He calls you the Miz. >> He calls me the Miz. He also calls me. Forest. For Forest Gump. So, >> I like that. >> Nice.
>> That boy was throwing, you know, not. just running. Uh let's talk a little bit. about how your body feels because the. big conversation with how hard you throw. and how fast you pitch, we've never seen. anything like it from a starting pitcher. position. How does the body feel after I. don't know what 2,000 games already this. season? >> It feels it feels awesome. You know, it. uh I could only imagine being a position. player and uh playing every 162. So, you. know, I'm lucky and I get my 30 starts.
in a week in between to get my body. ready for it. But I feel good. Feel. ready to go. >> Last question for me before the boys. have some. This has been a little bit of. a layoff because you guys punched your. ticket to the World Series before and. then you have some more time in. football. There's always like college. football, there's a by-week for the. teams that earn it. They win a. championship. That has not helped them. though. They they've gotten it fallen. into a little bit of a rust belt uh. bucket. How does it work with baseball. whenever you get this much time, especially after a long grueling season? Were you still pitching on schedule? How. have you kind of managed the time off?
>> Yeah. No, live BPs, stuff like that, you. know, against our guys. So, those are. never fun to throw against your own. teammates. you know, you don't want to. tear anyone down or, you know, tear. yourself down by not throwing it good. enough. But, uh, no, I think the boys. are ready to go. You know, had an. awesome week off and, you know, get. rolling on Friday. So, it'll be. >> Ty Schmidt back in the Thunderdome has a. question for you, Miz. >> Yeah, Miz, how I mean, it's obviously. going to be tough, your first World. Series start, but how how are you going. to how do you plan on kind of managing.
your adrenaline for a game like this, especially against a Rays team who. they're going to try to work a bunch of. counts. they don't strike out much and. they're obviously going to try to get. your pitch count up early so you can't. get deep into the game. Like, is that. something you're thinking about or is it. obviously very tough to do because. you're going to be the game one starter. for, you know, the the Brewers in the. World Series? >> Yeah, I mean I mean that's what every. team I've played this postseason's done. to me. You know, that's the goal for. every team is to get me out quick. So,
no, I mean I don't think the game plan. changes any from the Rays to the Dodgers. to the Padres's. you know, it's all the. same. So, no, I'm just I'm going out. there and throwing throwing my game, hoping for the best. >> The Rays and you all play a similar. style and obviously with the salary cap. conversations and the roster management. conversations is beautiful thing. I. think you guys have brought Kirk. Herbstreet back to MLB, which is good. He's been yearning for the day where we. play good sound baseball. Let's get guys. on base. Let's run them in. Let's get.
good pitch counts here. Let's work it. It feels like you two are the same. It's. a celebration of the sport for you as. one of the greatest pitchers of all. time. It'd be nice to get a little piece. of information. Debbot has a question. for you. >> Yeah, Ty just kind of asked you. You. said it's kind of the same game plan. week to week, but I really want to go, I. guess, inside your mind cuz I know it's. like a football player, some. quarterbacks say, hey, I got to get hit. one time. I got to get roughed around a. little before I before I feel like I'm. really in the game. Is there something. for you that you need to see or feel. when you really feel like, okay, now I'm. going, now I'm rolling. Now I'm exactly. where I want to be on the mound.
>> Yeah, I need to feel the fans get into. it. you know, that's this crowd out here. in Milwaukee has been been the best. You. know, these guy these people have been. getting crazy and after it every. postseason outing we have. And so I. think that that first pitch in the. warm-up of hearing the fans get after it. and get out and get loud. So that's. that's been the big one to really lock. me in. So it's been fun. >> Okay. Locking in can't be easy. You. know, eliminate distractors. I forget. what it was in the one movie. Uh but. kickers, punters, golfers, pitchers, I.
mean there is a lot of people that have. to be able to do this. AJ has a question. for you about your mindset and uh how. you control it all. >> Miz, has uh I guess the organization. maybe Skipper, have you guys gone. through with this time off? Is this. giving you a chance, I guess, to take. care of some of the off the- field. things like managing tickets for family. members, friends coming out of the. woodwork? I know when it comes to the. Super Bowl week for football players, they're always managing and, you know, dealing with distractions, I guess. What's it been like for you so far? >> Yeah. No, we uh we luckily had the week.
off and we could take care of business. outside of it. We got a whole day off of. not even coming into the field so we. could, you know, handle all that stuff. going outside and, you know, getting. hotel rooms, tickets like you were. saying. So, no, it's it's been awesome. >> Okay, Maze, we appreciate you joining. us. Tell the boys we said good luck and. uh we can't wait to watch you in the. World Series, brother. What is that. fastest you've got to this year? >> 105.5. Jeez, >> amn 110. >> Well, that's what I'm saying. World.
Series. World Series with a little bit. of juice. You get to 106. Not that we. need you to throw out of your skis. Not. that you will. We can't affect anything. We'll donate $106,000 to a charity of. your choosing through the World Series. Good luck out there. We can't wait to. watch. Congrats on all the success, pal. >> Thank you. Thank you, >> ladies and gentlemen. That's the Miz, the real Maze, Jacob Miseri. >> Maze. >> All right, boys. We are uh here in LA. The guys are back in uh the Thunderdome. in Indianapolis. What'll be following us.
is uh Big Day with Bigs. >> Is it. >> breaking down all of the. >> big plays? >> Yeah. The NBA Today slot uh took over. for Big Shreds yesterday cuz it was NBA. tip off day. First game was at 3:00. Now. NBA today is back to its regularly. scheduled programming at 3. That's AQ. Shipley. This is Darius J. Butler. My. name's Pat. We're so incredibly lucky. that we get a chance to chat about. sports. We'll continue to do that. digitally as Peter Shreger takes it away. from here. Be a friend, tell friends.
something nice might change your life. Goodbye. >> So, I think we hit it. >> Got it. >> Nailed it. >> Did we hit it? >> Yep. Oh, yeah. >> Because the zoom a little delayed with. the clock. I know you guys were watching. it as well. >> Yep. Yeah. That football was kicking our. ass trying to I I feel you now, AJ, with. the football. Oh, we were. >> trying to time it up. >> Yeah, I didn't love how you guys didn't. want to participate. >> You got to just do it. You got to go for. it. >> We were trying to feel it out. Yeah, you.
got to go for it. You're right. >> But I knew there was a delay. I didn't. want to go early. It looked like I mean, it's like a. >> It's like jumping off sides on one when. it's on two. >> And you were spending the entire. pre-show all the way up until the last 4. seconds just cramming. We have good news. for you. The thing you've been cramming. about is making us all smarter. AJ, we're about to have the top five. Top. five. Top five offensive lines in the. NFL and situational report coming out of. week six on the other side of this. break. Be a friend, tell a friend. something nice. It might change their. life. We'll see you on the other side. with more discussions that you'll.
definitely not need to hear, but I think. you want to hear and be a good way to. pass some time. We'll see you then. Goodbye. >> Yeah, if he throws you a curveball, you're in trouble. >> That breaking ball, good luck. It's It's. pretty nasty. >> Think he's going to make contact? >> No. If I were you, I would just start. swinging as you really listen. >> You think I made contact? >> I can barely make contact against.
>> fight a bingo 25 grand. Extra base hit. 15,000. If you walk me, $10,500. donation. Strike out 10,000. A hit is. just $10,000. Ball contact $5,000. donation. Hit by pitch that's an extra. 5,000. strike is a thousand obviously. and then every ball will be a donation. by the pitcher as well. SK said that if. he was pitching against me, he throw one. behind me. >> I've had a lot of votes to get you in. the ribs. A lot of.
>> You can get in there and look at one if. you want. Get used to it. >> Is this the one you're going to put in. my ribs? >> Nope. You're not. Don't swing at this. one. Don't swing. >> All right. I won't. >> Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. >> I thought I was going to burn my feet. >> Rookie of the year. Get a little closer. Just got a cramp in my left chest. >> All right. No balls, no strikes. >> Yeah. Okay.
What the [ __ ] was that? What the [ __ ] was that? I like that you let it go though. >> Yeah. First one. >> Yeah. I like it. >> Oh, foul tip.
>> Foul tip. Oh, where'd you go, Pat? Where'd you go?
>> What was that? >> That was purple. That was a strike. >> That was right there. >> Hey, thank you for your donation. >> Kershaw's challenge is forever grateful. >> So, what was that? You just pass. >> Oh, where'd you go? >> Hey, what else do you have? >> I have a slider. >> [ __ ].
>> This is guy number two. >> I have bad guy number two. >> Yeah, I got a different attitude. This. guy. >> Okay. I don't like what you're doing with the. strikes though. >> You're on it.
Oh, fell off. Foul ball. You got me though there, right? >> Yeah. >> Contact. Okay. >> Yeah. I will put on my Twitter bio.
Made contact. >> What's your drone? >> This will be his curve, right? That's all I got right there. >> Yeah, I saw it.
>> Hey, fast ball away. All right, >> over here. >> Maybe. I mean, you never know, but I'm. going to try. Fast ball away. I think I got it. I think I got it. I. think I got it.
That was legit. >> Did that hurt? >> Yeah. >> Thank you, dude. >> We'll count that as a single. Infield. single. >> Hey, I got a ghost runner there. He's.
fast. Overthrow first. He's on second. >> Okay. I got it.
Hey, good work, dude. That was awesome. >> I knew the curve was coming right there. >> You did? Yeah. >> How'd you know? >> Uh, just because I thought cuz I made. contact. >> Oh, yeah. You read my mind. >> All right, let's [ __ ] make a one now. >> You got it. >> You told me fast ball away. >> Yeah, I cut in a little. You got Jiren, but contact. >> like I was aiming away through a two. seamer and it's supposed to kind of run. but it kind of ran the other way.
>> I didn't think about the punch out. pitch. Like I was sitting there. I'm. like he's he's up 02. >> You're definitely going to hit me with. something. >> Oh, where'd you go? >> Good catcher. Got you there. >> I think I got on base. >> That's an infield single. You know it. You had you had enough though. Do you. see his face? He said, "I don't know. >> I don't know about. >> that's real." He said, "Mookie's good. shorts stop from what I remember." I'll. give you one hit. Give you one hit, one. foul ball, and then uh I did catch. Does.
that count? Cuz I call your foul ball. >> The catch definitely counts as a twofer. there. >> Okay. There's a few swinging misses. >> A lot of swinging misses. >> So yeah, you just you just let me know. >> We appreciate you being a great. American. Good luck. >> Thank you. Hey, no, there's no way I'm going to be. able to throw enough strikes. >> All right. >> Thank you, dude. >> You're the best. >> That was great, man.
When I was a kid, I get this feeling. I called it white buzz. and everything would go white. and I'd start buzzing.
I get the same feeling when I started. playing football. That white buzz would come pouring into. my brain like a river of fire. It's like I'm not me in that moment. It's like my body is invaded by.
something. Sounds like. >> a chance. >> Eight weeks of training. I don't think. we've had enough time. We got you.
>> Hey, why? >> Let's go. >> This show sticks and the fact that you. listen, we are very, very thankful for. McAfee on the line with a gorgeous. assist. >> The all-time leading tackler for the. Green Bay Packers. You pick.
>> damn it. >> Your friend tell a friend something nice. could change their life. sports. Hello beautiful people and welcome back. to this magical and wonderful Wednesday. October 21st 2026 hour three of the. program begins right now. >> sport. >> football. >> sports basketball.
>> it's basketball season not till after. Christmas get the hell out of here. well we're not going to be doing that. anymore okay thought we're going to. maybe lead back in here with Tom. Shiranya as he is excited about not just. the NFL season that is certainly in full. board or college football that is. certainly magical. MLB about to have the. opening pitch for the World Series. Yesterday, ladies and gentlemen, the NBA. had its 2026 season tip off holiday. And.
joining us now is a man who's an. absolute stallion, senior NBA insider, ladies and gentlemen, Sham Shir. >> Sh. Yeah, >> Sean. >> Sean, that's your camera right there. Sean's big wide one there. AJ Hawk is. back in the Thunderdome at baby. AJ, >> see you. Sean, I like the suit. Se. >> AJ, appreciate you. You know, I I have. gotten inspired by Pat when he wore a. tie outdoors at BYU. That was. inspirational. >> Okay, ladies and gentlemen, also back.
there in Indianapolis, uh, is talks. table boss Connor at Tai. Good to see. you. >> Good to see you as well, brother. Anything to say to Sham's here, Toxic. Table? Anything to say to the lad? >> Thank you for ruining the opening hour. and possibly the rest of the day. Um, with that, Shams, I just. >> Man, I you know what? No, I I have nothing. else to say to Shams. >> Yeah, I'm kind of bummed out. >> Me, too. >> What's going on?
>> Let's go to one half of the hammer. Don. >> Cowboys AP tone. Tone, how do you feel. about Sham's ruining the intro to the. third hour there and being proud of it? >> I think I added to it. >> I was going to watch basketball before. Christmas this year, but definitely not. now. >> What? Wow. Shams is ruining basketball. and its entire audience. AQ, do you. think it's fair what's happening to. Shams right now? >> I mean, listen, you got to pay attention. to the first two hours and he comes in. and just says, "Sports, nobody gives a. [ __ ] It's football season.".
>> Thank you. >> Well said, K. Yep. On that note, >> good to see a show on hot start. >> I know there is. >> You guys just saw me yesterday. >> I know there's a lot of magic happening. around the NBA. Big tip off day. Huge L. on banner night for the Knicks. LeBron. James and the Sixers start out with a. dub. Paul George goes crazy for the. Celtics. They end up losing to the. Stones. What is the big story line out. of yesterday? And what are people saying. after an opening tip day for the NBA.
that I think had a lot of conversation. and conjecture? I assume numbers are. going to be up. What should we be. looking at out of yesterday, Sean? >> I mean, when you look at yesterday, I. mean, obviously Boston has a lot that. they're still trying to sort through. Jason Tatum tough. I mean, I think he. even took accountability for the tough. shooting stretch that he had yesterday. in the game. Paul George shot the lights. out. We'll see how often he's able to. get hot like that moving forward. Boston's going to be better, but, you. know, I look at inside, you know, Mitchell Robinson at the five position. I don't know how much, you know, he he.
has room for improvement. Obviously, he. said he, you know, quote unquote uh got. his ass kicked on the on the glass. I. think we can swear now. We're on we're. on the YouTube. >> You can say ass anytime. You're an. adult. Okay. You're allowed to say ass. cuz that's a donkey. I believe a donkey. is an ass. That is a technical term just. like hell is a place. So, these are. things you can certainly go with. But. old buddy said he got his ass kicked is. what you're saying. >> But Detroit, I think you have to give. them credit. The way they came out. second half, they they they brought it. And I think there's been concern around.
the league. Do they have enough around. Kade Cunningham? Do I Do they have. enough around Jaylen Durn? Uh Duncan. Robinson got hot. They had Jamonte Green. come off the bench, play well. And then. the second game to me, I I I went into. Philadelphia season thinking, okay, you. have five guys that need the ball in. their hands. Who's going to sacrifice? Where are the roles going to be? And. clearly, listen, Tyrese Maxi, Jaylen. Brown, from a scoring, from a. responsibility perspective, they're. going to have it. And then from there, I. think LeBron James picking and choosing. his spots. He had an almost triple. double. You have Joel Embiid saying.
after the game he wants to be an. alldefensive caliber player. Like that's. a mindset shift for him. And then VJ. Edgecom just does a little bit of. everything. I think that's going to be a. great game rivalry all season. Philly. and New York. Um and then as far as the. late game, I mean, you just look at. Oklahoma City. I think back to last. year, they took San Antonio to seven. games. I say they took San Antonio seven. seven games because they were down. Jaylen Williams. They were down AJ. Mitchell and Chad Homegrren by the end. of that series. Um I think he took a.
total of three shots in that game seven. against San Antonio. So you saw an OKC. team that was healthy and Chad Homegrren. who was you could just tell way more. aggressive, way more assertive. And I. think that's what his own health and. everyone on that roster's health is. going to be very very key and important. >> Fun win for SGA as he continues to put. up monstrous numbers and be unguardable. seemingly. We starts his season with an. L and a little bit of a a scuff. I'm. pumped for what this year could be for. the San Antonio Spurs. Oklahoma City,
the Pacers are tonight on Done. Did you. hear what the commissioner had to say. about Tyrese maybe earning his way back. to ESPN? Uh Seams, >> I did hear what Adam Silver had to say. about a lot of topics here, but I. >> uh which like really Okay, let's not. talk about Tyrese and which topic really. >> Tyrese big time comeback season. obviously. >> Yeah. Do you guys care though? I I. haven't seen a lot of tweets saying. breaking. a man who is going to score 70 points in. game seven of the NBA finals has.
returned after an insert number of days. layoff. Have I seen that from you yet or. no? >> I think they are on I think they're on. national TV in the next week. >> In the next week. >> In the next week. >> Happy to hear that guy was going to. score 70 in game seven of the NBA. finals. >> 70. >> Yeah. >> In game seven. That would have been. definitely the best finals performance. of all time. >> by far. Mhm. >> Well, you know, that's what we're all. saying. So, you guys, you I heard say. put him on the zone for his opener. against the Pelicans. I think you've. really inspired and motivated and.
already inspired and motivated Tyrese. Hallebertton. So, we don't have to dive. into. >> He's locked in. I do think when you. think about them, they are when I when I. talk to teams, they look at Indiana as a. team. You know, everyone talks about New. York, Philadelphia, you have to talk so. about Boston, um Cleveland, they made it. to the conference finals. And then here. you have Tyrese Hallebertton on his way. back. He looked really, really good in. preseason. And Zubach, you have him now.
and obviously the Pacers believing him. hopefully as an upgrade for them. They. lost Miles Turner. Um and then you get. Kelly Ubé coming off the bench. That was. also a low-key underrated signing for. them in free agency to bring some. scoring and some offense. So, I think. around the league, teams know how potent. Indiana is going to be. >> Okay, good. I'm happy to hear that. Let's make sure we're still reporting. that as if the league does know that cuz. uh fans would like to hear that. I think. you know, fans would like to hear that. Tyrese Halleburn is supposed to be on. the zone against the Pelicans and his. return after having a 70point game in.
game seven of the world uh of the. finals. Now, there is some hubbhub about. potential movement already, Shoms, is. that accurate? The NBA is already off. and cooking. What are you hearing about. potential Golden State being in the. market quickly here? >> Yeah, there is developing news in the. leadup to the NBA season with one of the. marquee teams tonight. That's the Golden. State Warriors. and source. >> says. >> tell me that the warriors are actually. already starting to explore trade routes.
for Christophs Porzingis who is out. indefinitely as he's dealing with. reoccurring bouts of a uh autoimmune. issue termed as POTS and I'm told he's. at the point now where he is seriously. contemplating his basketball future and. where that could go and the reality is. if there's not a breakthrough with his. health, with his recovery. The Warriors. are certainly bracing for the. possibility that he steps away from.
basketball for good. And that's moving. forward. He's dealt with a lot of health. issues over the course of his career, mostly injuries, right? We know even on. the run to the NBA finals with the. Celtics where BC's Celtics won the title. in 2024, he played with a torn tendon. injury in his foot and he played through. it. And then at the tail end of the. 20242 25 season, he started to deal with. illness that he disclosed a year ago was. Pototts. And so this is a delicate. obviously health issue that he's dealing.
with now. The Warriors are being as. supportive as they possibly can be. But. he's got a $20 million expiring contract. that they can use now to possibly. upgrade their team. He's got a $3. million partial guaranteed on his $20. million next year. So basically, he's. the expiring contract that you can go. out there to try to better your team. And so you look at the Warriors now, Pat, they're down Porzingis, they're. down Jimmy Butler, did they're down. Moses Moody around Steph Curry and. Draymond Green. That's $90 million in. salary that's going to be out for either.
the significant part of the year or. potentially all season. >> And the Golden First of all, Porzingis, I don't know, we've never heard of POTS. We hope you're okay. This has been. lingering for a long time. That has to. be an incredibly scary thing. And. anytime you're talking autoimmune stuff, I think we've all been taught to know. that that's not great at all. Golden. State was in the market for LeBron. James. Is that accurate? So that that. felt like a pipe dream at the time. Now. they have the amount of injuries. What. is Golden State Warriors outlook look. for the year? Is Steph Curry going to be. on the move or is that something that's. impossible at this point?
>> Steph Curry will never be on the move. Steph Curry will be retiring at Golden. State Warriors. Whether he's playing 19. years, 20 seasons in the NBA, he's going. to be there for life. He actually just. signed a new contract extension, so he's. under contract for this season, next. season. Um I I think he's got a grand. total of three years left on his deal. So he's good to go moving forward. But I. think this is a Warriors team that has. to find ways if you're going to upgrade. The problem is is it is a veteran laden. team. So how much are you willing to.
mortgage the guys that you have now with. the assets and what's kind of the. riskreward, right? Like if you're if. you're going to use Christos Prozing's. $20 million salary in the marketplace, where are you going to go get a player. that's that much of a differencemaker. where you're going to deal with. potentially losing a first round pick or. two first round picks? Is there another. trade you can make where you could. possibly move out second round picks? These are all minations that I think the. Warriors are going through internally. right now. >> Okay, so the Golden State Warriors are. in the middle of having to make some. decisions. Feels like the NBA is off to. an incredibly hot start. You're in a.
sweet pinstripe suit and tonight the. Indiana Pacers kick off their season. The NBA is a buzz. We appreciate the. hell out of you, Sean. You're the man. >> Appreciate you guys. >> That's Sean Shan. >> That boy. >> Yay. Way to go, sports. Now, ladies and. gentlemen, let's um let's go ahead and. head over to. >> Darius J Bler here. Let's head over to. Dary Jler. >> Here we go. >> Head over to the situational report. here. Report here. Let's sit.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Put me back on there. Put me. back on there. Well done, boys. >> Here we go. Let's get to it. Today's. central neration report will be easy for. you to say. I mean, it's tough, I tell. you, without ears in just hearing. yourself out here talking. It is weird, but this picture is cool. And so is this. teleustrator. Let's get to the tape. CJ. Stra 24 for 34, 312, three TDs, and one. interception. You'll see the safeties. here rotating down. You talk about.
simple quarterback play. It's not all. the downfield 40 yard throws. Sometimes. it's just big time throws and they're. simple throws. Check down almost to. Jaylen Nowell. Quarter quarter half. He's going to be isolated in quarters. coverage with that linebacker. Linebacker is trying to keep leverage on. him. Nope. Get him across, make the. throw, and then wide receiver. New wide. receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. making a. big time block to get him 20 more yards. after this catch. So, you give him a. runner's ball. It's a great route. And. Jaylen Noel had a big time game against. the Jacksonville Jaguars to help them.
get over the hump. Let's get to play. number two. Talking about the new. arrival, Marvin Harrison Jr. He's up at. the top, but right here we got a nickel. blitz. And sometimes you can see that by. the safety stacked behind him. That. nickel's going to blitz free. You got. Marvin Harrison running almost like a. bang or a dig route. And CJ Stout does a. great job with the nickel bearing down. on him, giving him a low ball, kind of. protecting his wide receiver and Marvin. Harrison Jr. making the tough catch down. there. Now to the next play. >> This is a beautiful touchdown. Oh, it's.
a beauty. >> You see the bunch route. It's a single. high coverage cover three. That's the. nickel right right there. Jordan Lewis, he's a flat defender. And you draw this. up because look, we're used to just. guarding flat routes, a little check. down route, hook route, sit there, boom, nope, little pivot, go up the sideline. and another absolute dot to walk into. the end zone. And then you get to the. chunk plays, the big time down the field. throws. Nico Collins still the number. one wide receiver out there. single high.
slot formation. You know, you got a. one-on-one outside with him and Travis. Hunter. Look, Travis Hunter is a great. athlete. When you're a great athlete. playing quarterback, you want to get. that ball. So, those double moves, you. might bite them a little bit because you. have those ball skills to make big time. plays. And this is a big time throw from. CJ Stra down there to his number one. wide receiver. And then the last big. time throw in this tape, quarterback. You got quarters coverage. Once again, this is a quarters beating route. So. that number two wide receiver is going. to run like a deep inside and that's.
going to hold that quarter safety which. leaves that cornerback outside leverage. on the wide receiver and once again. Jaylen Noel using that big time speed. down the field. CJ Stout spots the. coverage, sees the route and this throw, I mean this throw is unbelievable. You. see it from the wide copy, but if we. have this tight copy in the replay, to. me, probably the best throw of the year. right now when you see the defender in. CJ Stra's face all over his arm. Couldn't step into it, so just had to. flick this thing and hit Jaylen Noel all.
the way down the field in stride. Unbelievable throw. Big time plays by. big time player. CJ Stra, he was the. situational report this week. >> Hey, Debb, great work. Great work, Debbie. Great work, Debbie. If you want. to track it, track. Hey, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. You never beat it. You never caught up. to it. You never caught up to it. Not. one time it beat you over here. Thanks, Ster. Stay. much. >> Go move.
>> I like that. >> Turn the hourglass over. >> That's right. >> The sands of time. >> Thank you for doing that. He's got no. ears. >> They said good job. >> They said good job. They said really. good. You did great. >> Thank you, boys. >> They said that was a situational report. and if they were given a report card, they give it an A+. >> You know what? I I was watching yours. earlier. >> Yeah. >> And we did it, you know, obviously we're. out here in LA. Beautiful logo, by the. way. We talked about it. Unbelievable. logo. Uh I didn't know when we did the. spotlight like that, it's going to be. dark everywhere. >> It's black. Yeah. >> Yeah. >> I think we kind of learned going forward. that we don't need to black out the rest.
of the image for everything, but on the. screen it looks differently. And I will. say this, the um. this this this is a pretty cool little. thing here. >> It's a little fat. Yeah, it's a little. faster than. >> Oh, a little preset. >> Nice. >> Tracks. Well, >> can you hit uh Can you hit 17 on that. >> on the thing over there? >> Hell no. >> Diddy, can you hit that? Diddy. 17.
There it goes. There it goes. >> 17. >> 38. >> 38. >> 15. That ain't. >> You guys nailed it. >> Where the hell's 17? >> Absolutely nailed it. It's in here. It's. in here. It's presets. I don't think you. ever would have got it. No. >> That would have been really difficult to. be honest cuz you got to be on two to. get on to that if you're on anything. else. You're on these other ones. Guy's. name is Diddy. Okay. I heard you guys do. your jokes. What do you want me to do? >> This guy's name. >> What do you want me to do? We're in Los. Angeles. Guy's name. >> I know they let him out. He only has one. name. He doesn't have any other name.
>> I believe that's been this guy's. nickname his entire life. Nice of you to. hire him after he got out. >> I didn't hire him. I didn't hire him. He's He was not in jail. This guy was. not in jail ever. He He's He's an. upstanding citizen. >> Real name Sean is going by Joe. >> That is not what his name is. >> Last name Cols, right? >> No, that's not who we are working with. here, but he's great at his job. He's. really helped us out today. We're very.
thankful for Diddy here. >> I don't think his name is Sean or. Jeffrey or any of the other names that. are potentially trigger names in that. particular aspect of the world. Jerry. Sanduski was actually uh remember that. was a commentator in Baltimore. You. remember that? Was that the commentator? >> I was trying to get. >> Oh, yeah. >> Yeah. >> Tough to have some names, you know. Tough to have some names. >> He lived good for a long time on those. names, you know? Like he walked in a. place and be like, "What's your name?". Be like, "Diddy." Like, "That's a cool. name." He's like, "Pretty good." Yeah.
>> Now he walks in, he goes, "My name's. Diddy." That's what And it's not his. fault. He's done nothing wrong. That's. literally his name. >> He's a new nickname. just the world that. he's in. I He's great at his job. Yeah, he's really good at his job. He's been. very nice to us. So, we're very. thankful. He's worked multiple times. this year. Hey, Diddy, be proud of. yourself, man. Don't worry about what. some other Diddy's doing. >> Cuz there's a little Diddy about Jack. >> Two American kids growing up in.
>> Hotland. Jackie going to be a football. But he doesn't know. >> You don't know this one. >> Do you? Yeah. >> Take a deep breath. >> I'm way you. This is uh John Melanchamp, right? >> Cooks. >> This is Coug. I hate the human, >> but he does have a couple good songs. Few bangers. >> He He has a couple good songs. >> I I would I would hate to be in the same.
area as him. He would take up a very. little amount of space though. I mean, just like a like a like kind of one of. those little gnomes you just kind of put. out there. That's like the amount of. space, >> but boy, he could [ __ ] make a bang. back in the day. >> He wouldn't stand for anything either. >> Yeah, but then he would actually for. stuff you. It's just uh he's an. interesting cat. He's an artist, ain't. he? He's just a little artist. He's a. little artist with a lot of talent. It. do be like that sometimes. Ladies and. gentlemen, we've had our situation.
report. >> Hell yeah. >> We've had an incredible what? Wednesday, we've sang a little bit. We got a new. logo. We got a new logo, which is really. cool. We're going to go run with this. for a while. Shout out to Bone. Make it. a nice LA morning nights uh type feel. I. think we're going to put this on some. shirts. >> Okay, >> I think we're going to put this on some. shirts so we can wear it. Ladies and. gentlemen, let's head over for the top. five offensive lines in the NFL. >> Okay, here we go. >> Coming out of week six of the NFL. seasoning.
>> Very casual. You look very casual there. Good job by you, AQ, I would say. Um, AQ, these top five offensive lines every. week. Tell us what teams could. potentially win it all with the big guys. coming out of week six. Who do you feel. is the top five offensive lines in the. NFL? Let's start with number five. AQ, congratulations to the Buffalo Bills. >> Buffalo Bills. I mean, they had Max. Crosby and a really good defense on the. other side. I think the Raiders are. playing much better than people thought.
this year. But again, we're always going. to start with these tight ends. Joe. Brady loves his tight ends personnel. We. actually are in 13 personnel. There's. one split out wide, but we got Jackson. Haw and we got uh Knox right there. And. so then if you look at the backside, look at Alec Anderson. This guy's filled. in that left guard. Unbelievable. Great. job on the back side. Then on the front. side, there you go. We got Knox at the. second level. We got Jackson Haw right. there. Both of them are right there. You. got uh look at Osiris Torrance right. here. And then big Spencer Brown does a. great job. All got leverage front side.
James Cook wheels, rides the wave. Unbelievable job in the run game. >> Love the Buffalo Bills. Love the. spotlight on Spencer Brown. He's very. big, very strong, very tall. And I think. he likes our program. So let's continue. to keep him on our side. >> I think the Buffalo Bills offensive line. in general likes likes the program. I. mean, they love seeing them in the top. five almost every week last year. >> Yeah, it feels like they're trying to. earn it with the way they play. Josh. Allen's a freak show. So is the. offensive line. James Cook can cook if. he hangs on to the rock the rest of the. year, which I think he will. He's been. called out publicly by a lot of people. for that. The Buffalo Beles offense.
continues to go. Who's the number four. offensive line coming out of week six of. the NFL season? San Francisco 49ers. >> There's not much that needs to be said. here. You guys talked about it on the. broadcast. And Trent Williams by far has. been the most elite offensive lineman in. the league through the first six weeks. Let's get a spotlight on him as he caves. the entire Washington Commander. defensive line out on one side. He has. played fantastic all game long. He's so. powerful. He's so big. He's the best. lineman of this era. And then he just.
takes 98 for a ride and just caves in. the whole side. You get the tight end. helping as he climbs and then boom, just. run right through Christian McCaffrey. But look what he does. just takes him, hits the hip, drives him all the way. across to the other side of where the. center snapped the ball and finishes on. top. He's unbelievable. >> Hey D, but when we were there uh. watching that game, boots on the ground, field pass on ESPN 2, thank you all for. allowing us to do that and for watching. along. We're honored to be there. The. physicality of these teams is real. That.
Niners team built on toughness. Trent. Williams even told us. Yeah, built on. violence, built on toughness, and we. kind of got some behind the scenes of. how hard their uh training camps are, how how tough they how hard they. practice. And you saw Fred Warner, it. was some flags that were picked up. He. uh toes the line, as Bill Coward would. say, he toes the line and everybody on. that defense flies around, but it starts. with that offensive line as well. Those. trenches, they can always run the ball. And Chris McCaffrey, he's a force as. well. >> Congratulations to the Niners. Number. four offensive line coming out of week. six of the NFL season. Who's the number.
three offensive lineman? AQ Shipley, the. Kansas City Chiefs. >> Listen, the Kansas City Chiefs have been. fantastic all year long. Listen, and. they are playing with backup linemen in. multiple places almost every single. week. But when you look at them, it. always starts with Trey Smith. He is one. of the top three right guards in the. league. I think probably top two between. him and Quinn Miners of the Broncos. They're going to run power lead. We're. going to run counter back to the tight. end. Who's that highlighted? Khalil. Mack. Right. This is one of the biggest. collisions I've seen in an NFL football.
game in a long time. You get good on. good. He's going to pull across. The. motion brings across and then look, we. we got in our sights Trey Smith. Boom. Khalil M. And then finish on top as he. finishes K9 through the hole as he walks. into the end zone. Unbelievable pickup. with Kenneth Walker. Has been fantastic. But watch this collision one more time. as Trey Smith when he pulls and Khalil. Mack down. Look at that. That's a guard. wrench. That is a train wreck. They both. felt that the next day, but then he has.
the ability to then finish and put. Khalil Mack on his head. >> Kenneth Walker, massive, massive play. for the Kansas City Chiefs this year. They've been focused on him becoming a. focal point of their offense. It. certainly paid off. He has a bunch of. stats on Kenneth Walker being the best. player and best running back in football. right now. What are your thoughts on it? >> I mean, absolutely. Dano said it. I. think Jim Net said it. He would be their. MVP pick right now. And it's hard to. argue with him. I got a question for AQ. though because the run game has been. what the run game has been for the. Chiefs. Have they changed the scheme or. for Kenneth Walker or is he just.
obviously you put a dynamic player in. there? Cuz I know he's at top of the. league by a wide margin breaking tackles. tackles as well, but it's the same. scheme and just K9 is the difference. >> Same scheme. K9's the difference. But. the other thing is Andy Reid is calling. him more. That's the thing, right? The. enemy comes back into town. They're. leaning a little heavier. Obviously, they made a big investment in a running. back for the first time probably since. Andy Reid had Lehan McCoy, right? So now. you get Kenneth Walker into town, you. make a big investment, you pay him $45. million, right? You're going to get your. investment out of them. And so they've. done a better job calling it and that.
has only opened up. They haven't hit the. chunks yet. They don't have the guys to. hit the chunks down the field, but it. has opened up the play action pass to to. to Kelsey and to the underneath routes. And then you keep hammering the run. game. They've been fantastic. Over 100. games, 100 yards in almost every game. >> AJ Khalil Mack, how's he feeling after. that Trey Smith stalemate at the line of. scrimmage as they give up a touchdown. there? Well, that was such a wild. If. you see Khalil Mack, you can kind of. tell he had an idea that was coming. He. goes right down the line. This is a. nasty collision. I mean, Khalil kind of. gets the best of it early on. And credit. to the these both these guys fighting.
through. Watch a little little. whoop-de-woop flip going on at the very. end. How they ended it, I loved it. But. you can tell Cle was waiting for that. He knew like, "Okay, here we go. This is. my time." And I'll tell you what, this. is a pretty good uh pretty good. stalemate. I would say this is a good. win for both guys. Honestly, >> remember Travis Kelce told us on the New. Heights podcast that uh since Benemy had. gotten there all through spring. The. only thing that has been repeated is run. through a motherfucker's face. Yep. And. they've certainly been doing that. We. like that here on In the Trenches. Let's.
find out who the number two offensive. line is coming out of week six of the. NFL season. Congratulations to the. Carolina Panthers. >> Wow. >> Good football team. That is a good. football team and I'm glad you said that. and I'm glad you recognized it because. number nine has been fantastic this year. but so is Hubard, right? Let's talk. about these two right here. You got Rob. Hunt. I know Gumpy's pissed that they. let him out of Miami. Absolute stud. Paid him a ton of money. Him and Damen. Lewis a couple years ago. You get a. great combo. You get Luke Forner up at. the second level. Does a great job. We. get Motton. That's the guy that we were. talking about earlier with the blood.
clots. He gets up on Bond creates it. But everybody's got leverage. We're. putting people on their backs. Look at. that. And Chuba Hubard. Unbelievable. Does a great job. Okay, so they're. actually a good football team. They they. have a chance to be a great football. team down there and the offensive line. is normally a good indicator of that. >> And they're missing their starting left. tackle. Uh they call him Big Icky out of. NC State, former first round pick, right? They bring in Rasheed Walker. comes over from the Green Bay Packers. So they're playing really with a backup. left tackle. The rest of those guys are. really good football players. Bryce. Young has been fantastic. Hubard. fantastic. And then T-Mac's been.
fantastic as well. >> Who's the offensive line coach down. there? >> Harold Goodwin's the run game. coordinator. Joe Gilbert, who you guys. all know very well from our time in. Indianapolis, is the offensive line. coach as well. >> Okay. So, is this a biased thing cuz. you're friends with these guys? >> I mean, you tell me. Look, look at what. Hubard did this week. You tell me if. it's biased. 130 yards rushing against a. Philadelphia Eagles defense that got. studs all over the place. I mean, unbelievable job running the ball and. they're a physical group up front and. they're doing all the right things. They're covering people up in the zone. game. They're running the duo scheme. They're covering people up. They're. moving people off the ball. You got to.
love this Carolina Panthers team. >> You certainly do. And I do like, you. know, Big Goodie and I love love Big. Gilbert. I mean, I do and there's bars. in Charlotte that have sent us t-shirts. and Morgan's been good to us and Canalis. obviously Magic and owner Ter has been. more handsoff. Con man, it feels like AQ. is is not just doing this for bias. reasons so that he gets a text saying. thank you for that. Carolina Panthers. might just be a great football team. right now. Con man. >> Yeah, absolutely. And a lot of people. will say, well, you know, the Panthers.
played Tanner McKe in the Philadelphia. Eagles and a backup quarterback and all. that stuff's going on in Philly, but. it's more so like, sure, that's true, but the Panthers in previous years would. lose a game like that, but now they're. winning the ones that they're supposed. to win. It does feel like it's a. completely new era in Carolina, and. Bryce Young's one of those young guys. that's kind of taken the league over. Him and Ted are one of the best combos. as far as QB wide receivers go now. And. they got this offensive line. and Chuba. Hubard. I look out. >> Little bit of a shocker here, I'll tell.
you. Congrats to the Bills, the Ners, the Chiefs, and the Panthers as the five. through two rankings of the offensive. line coming out of week six of the NFL. season. There is a shock at number one, ladies and gentlemen. The number one. offensive line in the NFL after week six. of the NFL season as said by in the. trenches AQ Shipley, >> the New Orleans Saints. >> What? >> Yeah. >> Congrats to the Saints. Okay, AQ. Riddle.
me this, pal. >> Yeah, riddle me this. Riddle riddle me. this is right. Listen, week six, this is. a week- toeek ranking. Remember that. they ran for over 100 yards. They got a. three-headed monster down there at. running backs. Listen, David Edwards. comes over from the Bills who Alec. Anderson, who I mentioned earlier, replays to the Bills. Huge free agent. signing at left guard for the Saints. And then they're missing their left. tackle. Uh Kelvin Banks, who's a former. first round pick out of Texas. They got. a seam Richards in there. Watch this. combo block here. This is called split. zone. And then we get the tight end. going back. Here was the F tight end. He's going to go back. You get a huge.
big gaping hole backside. You get that. split zone. He sticks his face in there. on the DB and you end up having that. huge hole to run through. Thank you so. much, AQ. That's great work over there. >> Really good, AQ. You should be. incredibly proud of yourself. I I I. think the top five offensive lines. should be pumped about what they've. done. Uh the Bills, the Niners, the. Chiefs, the Panthers, and the Saints.
round out the top five offensive lines. Did not expect the Saints to do that. I'm going be honest. I did not expect. the Saints to be on there, but instead. we have a new leader in the clubhouse as. we went in the trenches. Now, ladies and. gentlemen, it is time to um Hold on. Let. me get this back here. Let me get this. back here. >> Saints are a good football team, too. Tyler Shock, not a bad player. >> Two and four. They're not a good. football team yet. >> They're going to get there. >> Watch out, though. They might be a. really, really good football team. Let's.
not dismiss them yet. Okay, >> let's go do that. Ladies and gentlemen, it's time to our good everything DB with. Darius J. Butler. >> March. >> Super smooth. Yeah. Let it catch up to. you there. >> Dual. Let me know if it's casual or not. >> It was super casual. >> That was good. That was good. That was. good. >> Super casual. >> Welcome back. That good D. >> Mhm. Yeah. >> With me. >> Mhm. >> Boom. Here we go. Game winner in Denver.
overtime pick against Sam Darner. Look, Jackson Smith and Jigba reigning off as. a player here. They cloud coverage all. day long against him. But watch this. disguise. Nickel safety corner. You see. where they're line right now after the. motion once the route start develop. McMillan. Watch him lined up as a nickel. looking like maybe seen flat. Nope. He's. going to drop back and be the deep half. defender. And Sam Darnold never sees. him. Tries to hit the whole shot up the. rail right beyond the corner. He gets. over the top and does a tremendous job.
creating this turnover. I feel like. McMillan always has these timely. interceptions. We remember the big one. against Josh Allen in the playoffs last. year. Everybody talked about was it a. pick? Was it an incomplete pass? This is. a big time gamewinning interception. right here for the Denver Broncos and. Jaquan McMillan. >> Hey, the Hold on. Let's talk a little. bit about this Broncos team. Offensively, they've been terrible. Defense still good even though they're. banged up. AQ, can you win a Super Bowl. like that or is this offense going to. have to get going? >> The offense has to get going. They got. to get a run game. I mean, I I love some.
of the guys on their offensive line. I. think Quinn Miners, Garrett BS, I think. McGllinchi, all good pass protectors. They got to get the run game going. It's. crazy that it's just a simple offensive. run scheme that they just cannot get. going. They're just running inside zone. handoffs, nothing crazy, no scheme when. it comes to motion. You see all the. other stuff, but defensively dogs. everywhere. >> Deba, you love them. You love that. Broncos defense. They're going to have. to do it for them. >> I love them. And it always starts in the. trenches. Always starts up front. They're getting some guys back when it. comes to up front the pass rushers and.
then on the back end that marries up. with the coverage on the back end. We. know Patrick Certan one of the one time. defensive player of the year, one of the. best quarterbacks in the league once. he's back out there healthy and full. goal. Riley Moss is pretty good as well. They got good DBs. They got good. linebackers. They got a good front and a. great defensive coordinator as well. So, I don't think with how the offense is. playing right now in this league, no, you're not going to go and beat those. big time AFC quarterbacks in the. playoffs. So they definitely got to pick. it up on the offensive side of the ball. But this defense, I think, especially. once they get clicking the end of the.
season, can be a Super Bowl caliber. defense for sure. >> That's good. D they say AQ. Absolutely slinging it around. >> Slinging it. Slinging. >> That's the people's elbow. >> That's it. >> Mhm. >> That's right. Got his money back. >> Yes, he did. >> Uhhuh. >> Cuz remember the way that was explained. is view this entire thing as the rock. >> That's right. >> And then view this as his elbow. So, you. didn't get to run the ropes or whatever, but I did. Boom. And then the rock hits. the ground and then the elbow flops.
right there at the end. Bang. It all. made sense whenever you heard about it. That was a good appeal process. I like. that. That's a good Democratic. standpoint. I believe that's right. >> Votes were in. >> Um, excuses were heard. >> and inevitably the guys got their money. back. >> Did you feel like the NFL was just. trying to tell the boys, "Hey, stop." It. did feel like that. >> It It certainly did. >> And then they took all the money back. They didn't find them. They didn't keep. the fines. So, it was just them saying. like, "Hey, we could if we wanted to.". Do you think that's what they want? >> They cut the antics. >> Enough with the dongs and the in the.
guns. >> You think you told them did they tell. them that, Pat? Do you think they said, "Hey, we we'll take your money back this. time, but don't be flopping your dong. out again.". >> They said this isn't Banana. >> This isn't Banana Ball. Okay. Put your. face away. >> That does not happen. That does not. happen in Banana Ball. Just so we. understand. >> That has never happened. That does not. happen. >> Check the tapes. >> I have I've been to a game. It It does. not happen. If you want to go to. Savannah Banana baseball game, it is a. familyfriendly environment. There will. be nobody pulling any appendages out.
They will just be playing baseball in a. fun way. And Ty knows that. Ty knows. that and he agrees with that. >> Uh I don't know about that cuz I, you. know, again, you got to check the tapes. You really got to comb through them. I. get sent so much stuff on Banana Ball. because yeah, I'm not, you know, their. number one fan and quite frankly, I've. been disgusted with what I've seen. No, no, there's nothing. It is a great time. You should go to a Savannah Banana. baseball game. Ty is not the demo. He. still has yet to get that. But it might. be our only baseball after this World. Series ends. So, let's enjoy it all.
Let's get off baseball and let's go back. to that good. heavy D. What's that J Butler? >> Going from a team you asked about the. Broncos defense. Could they carry to the. Super Bowl with their offense? No, I. don't think so right now. But the team. right now who was in a Super Bowl last. year, I think this defense can get. clicking and can't get to a point. Charles Woods corner down at the bottom. of the screen. It's going to be a. fiveman pressure. Single high safety, three underneath, three deep coverage.
And right now, the Jets are trying to. take a shot to their first round pick. tight end down the field. And I want you. to watch this young quarterback, one of. half the toxic table. Boston Conor loves. this guy. But watch him. It's very, very, very dark down here, so you can. barely see him. But three underneath, those are defenders. He's a deep corner. and just watch him play this, get his. head around AJ, you know how tough this. is and track this football and make a. big time play. Big time interception. right here. This is a 10-point game. early in the fourth quarter. So if the. Jets drive down and get a score here. becomes a much closer game with how the.
offense is playing. If the defense can't. continue to play well, this Patriot team. can be right back in a hunting down the. stretch. Big time play by Charles Woods. >> AJ, tell me about the head swivel. >> Look at that. I mean, I might as well be. blindfolded, too, with how dark it is in. that area of the field. But yeah, look. at I if I can find to pick him up. When. once you get in the hip, that's when you. got to turn that head around. Obviously, Debbut, right? Once you're in there, you. tell little kids. Okay, here we go. And. bam. I mean, he was already in front of. him, though, too. I think it takes a lot. of confidence. It takes balls to.
actually do that. I know Debbut cannot. hear me right now, obviously. But it. takes a confidence to get your head. swiveled back and go actually locate the. ball and not have uh a lot of guys get. worried when they turn when they turn. their head around that they're going to. miss it. very scary to even lose that. ball, light sight of that ball for, you. know, a quarter of a second when you're. getting that head around. A lot of us at. home, you'll be, "Hey, DB, turn your. head around. Get your head around." My. mom watching my games, a high school, college pro, she, "Hey, why don't you. turn your head around?" That's a very. difficult position, especially with a. guy like Sadique the freak running it. down. But that's a great job by Woods.
keeping his leverage. I hate when I see. DBs or linebackers have leverage and. then get beat to that leverage. If they. beat you inside when you have outside. leverage, okay, that's part of the call. or opposite. But right there, played the. down. Played the defense perfectly. Love. to see it. Talk about playing the. defense perfectly. Jaylen Ramsay, he's. kind of a safety, you know, nickel guy. now. Not that outside corner you put on. the island anymore. This the pre- snap. disguise. You got a safety down to the. left, safety in the middle of the field. And then Jaylen Ramsey. This is one of. the first passes the uh the Bucks tried.
to make. Blitz this nickel off the. safety. And then they're going to come. back to this late. Jaylen Ramsey, 10. tackles, four TFLs, and this is the. first of two big time sacks there. Started with the pre-nap disguise, timed. it up perfectly off the edge, and we. know once five gets back there that he's. going to get that quarterback down even. with that cast on his hand. Big time. play by five. >> Huge play. He'd go on to win the game at. the end. Jaylen Ramsey would get home. He take his helmet off and celebrate. Tone, we love Jaylen Ramsey on that. defense. Feels like he's meant to be a. Pittsburgh Steeler.
>> Yeah, he's been awesome. Obviously when. we brought him in, you know, he thought. he was going to play corner, but then. with some injuries, Deshawn Elliott's. been out for the entire season and even. last year there was injuries and he. moved to the safety spot and has played. extremely well and he's been like a he's. been an emotional leader on that. defense. Kind of something we were. missing and then playing with the broken. wrist for the last few weeks uh and. doing this and and not complaining at. all. He's been awesome on the defensive. side of the ball. >> Yeah, he's a stud. Absolutely. Go ahead, Debo. He been he's been great mindset. wise and you talk about injuries. obviously it's a tough physical violent.
game. So anytime a guy's gutting through. injuries and not just playing but. playing well you love that. And this is. the game winner. You saw the earlier one. and this is a repeat league. You're. going to come back to the plays and the. schemes that work. Jaylen Ramsey once. again fourth and eight game on the line. You're going to drop some big guys out. Cam Hayward uh Herbig in the middle. They're going to drop out and you're. going to get a free hitter once again. off the edge from Jaylen Ramsey. times. it up perfectly with the motion. Boom. Get him down there. I love when I blitz. DBs. Patrick Graham, you're blitzing an.
athletic DB when you have an athletic. quarterback back there because a lot of. times you'll see linebackers or. defensive and they get back there but. get jked, lose, contained. So, five big. time play take the hand off. Classic. Jaylen Ramsay and Patrick Graham dialing. it up for the gamewinner. >> Congratulations to Jaylen and the. Steelers getting the win there, but also. Jaylen Ramsey, AFC defensive player of. the week. Wow. >> Congratulations to Jaylen. He gets a. game-winning sag. Had another one on the. board. Julius Chestnut, running back for.
Tennessee, is the AFC special teams. player of the week. CJ Strad, who we. highlighted earlier in the situational. report, gets the AFC offensive player of. the week. And then on the NFC side, Chad. Ryland goes six for six. Congratulations. to the Cardinals. Martin Emerson there. of the New Orleans Saints. Not a member. of the offensive line, but the Saints. playing good football down there. And. then Caleb Will Himsa on his return. starts out that game 10 for 10 with two. touchdown drives and a touchdown pass. He goes absolutely crazy for over 300 in.
his return from a grade two hamstring. strain. Ty Schmidt, what do you see from. the players of the week? What do you. like? What do you hate, pal? >> Uh the Chad Ryland thing. Because the. first thing I think of when I think of. Chad Ryland is Connor basically, you. know, loving this guy because he he. pretty much single-handedly was the. reason that they got Drake May. And uh I. I tell you what, this Arizona Cardinals. team is still frisky and uh if if. they're going to go out there and, you. know, their offense is going to kind of. sputter and Chad Ryland's going to drill.
six field goals and ensure that they. have more wins at SoFi than the Rams and. the Chargers combined. I'll tell you. what, you know, I feel like the the the. Cardinals are kind of one of those teams. where week in week out it's maybe you're. back in on them and then the next week. they look like [ __ ] and you're maybe. maybe out on them. But I'm I mean AQ. knows and I saw AQ getting fired up in. the booth, you know, from that video. when uh when they won this game. So good. on Chad Ryland. Good on the Cardinals. for getting a huge win.
>> Yeah, Chad Ryland goes six for six beat. or six for six. Ends up beating the Los. Angeles Rams with his right foot. He's a. turp. You know, Scott Fan Pel shouted. him out a lot. There's AQ Shipley on the. far side. Arizona Cardinals about to. beat the Los Angeles Rams. Nobody. thought that was completely possible, especially if you have no touchdowns and. your kicker's the only one to score. Set. hot. Great hold. Great kick. AQ Shipley. gives a paddle on the thing. That's what. we do here. That's what we do. Your. play-by-play guy, he's a great man. We. love him. His name is. >> JP Shadrick. He's awesome. I mean, he's.
awesome. Great voice. Great voice. Do. you really you've fallen in love here. with the the Arizona Cardinal color. commentator position? Feels like you. really enjoy this Cardinals team. >> Well, I I I do enjoy calling games. I. really do. It's no different than me. being up there in front of the. teleustrator, you know, talking ball and. it's it's seeing it live. I I do enjoy. doing that. Now, it was a lot more. enjoyable this week calling a win. A lot. more enjoyable. It's much better calling. that when you're in instead of being. down 45 to 14. >> Yeah, last year had a lot of L's. Uh we. spotlighted CJ Strad in a situation.
report. Caleb Williams also gets on the. board here for the players of the week. What do you see from the quarterback. position here that maybe tells us our. initial reports of these people might. not be right? >> I like Yeah, I like guys just playing on. time, you know, on time within the. scheme. And you're talking about a. number one overall draft pick and a. number two overall draft pick. So, two. extremely talented quarterbacks that can. make splash plays, that can do things, uh, you know, with their leg or with. their arms. But those are the times that. you want to maybe a handful of times per. game. You know, four or five times where. you do something just completely off off.
the script. But, uh, within the scheme. planet, he was 24 from 24 from a clean. pocket. A lot of people now are saying, "Oh, it was a bunch of checkdowns.". Sometimes that's what you want. If. that's what the defense is giving you, I. think Steve Young said, "Hey, you should. wake up being 15 to 30, you know, easy. just based on what the defense is giving. you. He made some throws and then you. see him rolling out and throwing it back. across the body for that touchdown.". Now, those are the plays where it's. like, okay, that's why and that throw to. Roman Dunes as well. That's why guys are. number one overall pick. But more times. than not, you want a quarterback playing.
within the system, making the right. plays, and that's what both of these. guys did in the AFC and NFC was Caleb. Williams and CJ Stout. >> AFC special teams player of the week, Julius Chestnut. He blocks punt, takes. crib, he beats Indianapolis Colts. That's fun, Connor. >> Yeah. Uh, it is fun, but what's more fun. is the changes that come after it. because now we are on a new route and a. new projection inside of Indianapolis. Hey, don't call me [ __ ] All right, I. don't let that guy through. >> Rick Barberto Sanchez, uh, phenomenal.
um, punter for us. Long time. He's been. through a lot. I think he had cancer at. one point or cancer scare. I think he. tore his Achilles maybe at one point or. something like that. Now he gets. absolutely blown up without even knowing. it. And uh we lose to the Tennessee. Titans as Chestnut gets the block and uh. now they got players of the week and we. got no general manager. >> Have you ever been in that that position. right there? I know you've got a punt. blocked obviously, but like just near.
>> Yeah. So Houston guy got me. Um. >> Bra Bronner. >> Yeah. Rest in peace Brahman. >> Yeah, Brahman there. He was a problem. >> Yeah. He didn't Yeah. the ones where. they get you where you're full swinging. at it is the worst because leg speed is. something that uh every kicker and. punter has and he just. >> he just gez. >> that's not fun I'm happy he didn't get. caught on the ground so he can get. twisted but yeah that's not a fun. experience we have signed Thomas. Morstead to be the Colts I love Thomas.
Morse he taught me how to punt he would. be a uh fine uh replacement for Rick. Bberto Sanchez happy he's still doing it. I think the only question is why is he. wearing number four I think we all have. especially for the amount of respect he. has for Adam V and Terry. We'll listen. to hear what he's thinking there. Vinnie. just went into the Ring of Honor. >> You think he talked to Vinnie? >> Yeah. I assume Thomas and Vinnie know. each other. I don't know. I don't know. how many numbers are available right. now, too. We've been through so many. players. >> Yeah. >> College. There's plenty available. We. know that. >> Yeah, there is.
>> What if they just gave it to him and. he's like, "Hey, I don't really want to. be wearing Vinnie's number. >> Shut up. Take it.". >> Yeah. Sorry, bud. >> I didn't like the number. I I didn't. like Once again though, I Who am I? Who. cares what I like? I'm friends with. Thomas. I'm a former Colt. I'm happy. Thomas is a Colt and he's going to. [ __ ] bomb balls for us. Nicole. Hardman Jr. also on our team. That's. huge. We need a wide receiver. So maybe. this is what Dods has been aiming to do. The assistant general manager all along. Do you think Chris Bow had the whole. FOB doesn't even work when he gets there.
thing? >> Oh yeah. >> Oh no. >> I think he turned it in like a deputy. after arresting the wrong person. >> I do wonder. That wouldn't be very. kicking the stigma like though, so. probably not. >> But I'm okay. I mean, who knows? But. like, as Dods is making these decisions, is Chris moving out of his office at the. same time? >> Probably. They probably told him the. night before. >> But is Chris still moving [ __ ] out of. his office, right? >> That's got to happen pretty quickly. Don't you think that's happening very. fast? >> He's got a lot of [ __ ] in there. >> What they tell? Or they do it for him?
What if they do it for him? >> I don't know if they would do that for. him because Chris is a good guy. He's. GM. He's a good man. Do you think they even Do you think they. even moved the other guy in dots? Or you. stay in his office? >> A little tiny office. >> Yeah, he's got his office. >> No, give him the big office. >> Yeah, he's moving up for sure. Give me. the corner office. I don't want this old. baby office over here. I need to make a. lot of decisions that are going to. impact the future of this multi-billion. dollar business. And. >> I've. >> I mean, he's only got a couple weeks to. make those decisions. >> Exactly.
>> So, why move him? >> And then he's out. >> Why move who out of the office? >> Why move Dods? Is that his name? Ed. >> And Ballard said to him, >> "Ed, my watch has ended. It's time for. you to reset the shoe." And then he. left. >> Speaking of watch ending, >> that hourglass is flipped over. completely. >> Yeah. >> You know what that means? >> What's up? >> This is over. >> Out of time. >> This is over. >> This is over. >> Wish we had more time. I wish.
you had. >> more time. >> Mhm. >> I really like the new logo. I like the. color. >> Sweet. >> Looks good. >> Like GTA. >> I really like being out here in LA. >> This place is unbelievable. >> Yeah, I complimented this place pretty. heavily earlier. It is a little GTA. feel. And it's also plum Mustangs. We. got a little purple in there. We're all. ballers here. We lost by a lot to the. North Hills Indians on Friday and I I. owe Lavar Arrington 30 push-ups. What. happened? What happened? What happened.
last week? >> We lost to North Hills. That's what. happened. >> No, no, no, no. The week before. >> We I don't remember. >> Who' you lose to? >> We were the Pittsburgh Steelers high. school showcase game of the week against. North Hills. So, we obviously the week. beforehand didn't matter. We were still. a showcase game. >> No, no. I just I just I think I need to. hear it out of your mouth. What happened. the week before? >> What did happen? What did happen? >> An 0 and5 Moon Tigers beat the Plum. Mustangs. >> What? 0 and5. >> guys are 0 and5.
>> What? >> You need to fire your GM. >> You're one and five now. I don't I'll. tell you what. Just as. >> just like the Colts. >> All right. >> First the Titans. >> This your coaching tree, D. >> It is. This is Tony Diggs's fault, actually. >> Wait, what? >> Yeah. >> Mhm. >> That's not mine. No. Bill Ramito was my. coach. Frank Sacko was my coach. >> Rest in peace, Frank Sacko. Absolute. legend. Bill Ramito didn't win a lot of. games. He's a good guy. He's a good guy. >> He won a lot of games.
>> Did he? >> Yeah. He's coached there for like 30. years. >> Oh, yeah. I guess at some point you're. going to inevitably stack him up. >> Um. >> almost playoff time. High. Shout out. Cypress Bay Lightning. 8-0 one seed. South Florida Denzel Butler, defensive. coordinator. >> Let's go. Also, shout out to the 8A uh. high school squad out here led by Carson. Palmer named. >> Santa Margarita. >> Santa Margarita. I guess they're the. national champs. >> Wow. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> 8A national champions. Carson Palmer is. the head coach. His boy is the. quarterback. He's a sophomore.
>> And I guess he is. >> They're saying he's the one. They're. saying he's the one, right? >> Yeah. He's a guy. They have a senior on. the team who's a Vanderbilt commit. Lost. the starting job to Fletch Palmer. >> Fletch. Fletch. >> Fletcher. >> Sweet name. >> Yeah. Sweet. >> Fletch is a really good name. >> How do you guys feel about all these. buttons we've been using today? How you. guys feel about how do you guys feel. what we got going? >> It's pretty cool. 17. >> What do they all mean? >> So, here's wide shot. So, basically. breaking it down. This is a wide shot.
>> Boy shot. Look at this. Guess who's on. it. >> What's up, boys? >> That's right. That was good. We might. have might have healed some. relationships there with that. What do. you mean? >> Then we got this one that's really tight. with me here if we need to. And then. this one's been bouncing back and forth. Diddy's been doing the controlling this. one. goes from debut ISO and then if AQ. was to start talking, we come back here. to me. We say, "Hey, yeah, AQ now." And. then D says, "Let me get that for you.". Boom. We're right over there. >> It looks like we have five cameras.
Guess what? We only have four. And then. if you want to really start dancing, you. can go ahead and take this one and say, "Don't you take a walk, dude. Why don't. you take a walk. >> over to the board?". >> Now, it's a little bit slower, longer. walk than we could have imagined. You. know, can't really tighten that up, but. bam, we're there. And then let's go. ahead and back that up a little bit, shall we? Get a little better frame. Oh, no problem. So, you know, it was a. little bit of a day trying to figure. these entire things out, but I think we. end up getting there. Got it done. Oh, yeah. >> I uh I've had a blast here. This place. is beautiful. It's gorgeous. We're going. to go walk around and just see.
>> what's all possible here. That is. >> And boys, I think you know this now. And. I don't know how many people that watch. know, but like having me walk into one. of these buildings is just not good, you. know? I can't wait to hear what [ __ ]. idea I come up with after seeing some of. these spaces with with what's possible. here. I mean, this this set right here. has fantasy football live, >> which we all watch. >> Great show. >> Great show. >> We all watch. >> Yeah. Shout out. >> Who's your favorite guy? Oh,
>> Adam or No. >> No, it's Do. >> Yeah, it's Dopp, dude. >> Oh, yeah. I got. >> Just like we watched. >> It's not Field's show. This is a. different show. And and just like we. walked past another studio yesterday, there had good showing it. >> That was your favorite. Connor actually. said he watched that show. >> That Yeah, Connor's favorite. >> No, no, I I said I actually stopped. watching that show because they said. some stuff about the Patriots. I just. couldn't couldn't even handle. And. that's why I refused to name them. because I don't want them to take any. more heat from New England Patriots.
fans. >> Oh, you talking about NFL Daily with uh. double double Greg uh Greg Rosenthal. >> Yeah, we watch we walked by that. yesterday. >> Live taping. Yep. >> Do yourselves a favor. Walk down that. hallway. There are maybe the comfiest. chairs of all time in that green room. down there. >> Yeah, we have not I've not seen the. green room yet. I've not seen a lot of. places, but I do know that it is uh. gorgeous here. >> I know this show this set right here and. we watch the show obviously. >> They got 200 lights above us, right? I I. don't even know the amount of money that.
they've spent just in lights for this. place. Just for this studio one right. here. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Teleustrator we weren't able to. teleustrate on. I assume that'll get. figured out at some point. Um there's. some real science and. >> N that won't get figured out. >> You can cool though. >> You can take the reservation. You just can't hold the reservation. >> At some point that thing will get. working and it'll be an unstoppable.
force. >> But this entire place is amazing. We're. lucky. thankful to be here and uh lads, good work this week, deep. >> work, brother. You too. Awesome. >> Thank you. >> Back in the Thunderdome. Good work this. week, boys. >> There you go. You too, man. >> AJ, thank you for traveling out there. You're the absolute man. All right, boys. Uh if it wasn't for all uh you, >> we wouldn't be able to do this. So the. fact that all of you.
>> allow me to do this. We are forever. grateful for all of you. >> All right. Be a friend, tell a friend. Some nice might change your life. We're. going to stay together. Team on me. Safe. travels, boys. >> You, too, brother. >> Yeah, dude. You're right. I'm traveling, too. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. This time is crazy. You got all. day, man. >> Travel from California to California. That was crazy. >> Long trip. >> Yeah. San Francisco's really far, >> boys. It's noon out here right now. >> That's awesome.
>> Enjoy it. >> Get in the ocean, man. Go swim in the. ocean. Take a dip. >> I don't know if I'll do the ocean, but. there's a couple pools out here. They've. been calling my name. They give me a. little tan cuz a lot of people saw a. spray tan I had a couple weeks ago cuz I. was heading down to Alabama. Maybe we. get a real tan. That's possible for my. skin type, right? >> Let's do it. >> All right. Be a friend, tell a friend. Some nice it might change your life. We're in this thing together. Team on. me. Team on three. Hey, for the good of. sports, baby. 1 2 3. >> Goodbye.
