Netanyahu: Arab leaders don’t care about the Palestinian issue
They don't care about the Palestinian. issue. They care about its effect on the. street. >> The West Bank, where there is growing. settler violence. Your many members of your government. speak loudly in favor of annexation. This is an area of dispute, or at least. disagreement between you and President. Trump, very clearly. And it's a problem. for Arab countries with whom you would. putatively want to do deals. Can you. state clearly that you know, I just. don't understand why you don't say. clearly you will not pursue annexation.
>> Well, I've said clearly something else. I've said that whatever the solution. will be between us and our Palestinian. neighbors, it will be one in which we. will maintain the sovereign power of. security because the area is too small. I mean, this is greater London. The. whole thing between Israel, the Judea. and Samaria, the West Bank, and up to. the Jordan River is greater London. So, you're not going to have. a regime like the PA, the Palestinian. Authority, that teaches its children to. be suicide bombers, that pays for slay,
that is the more terrorists kill Jews, the more they get paid, and their families are taken care of. That's not how you educate for peace. And until we see a change there, Israel. will have to be the country that. controls security west of the Jordan. Now, that the people say, "Well, that's. not full sovereignty." And I say, "You're right." And that's probably the. >> But that's not what Parliament is saying. about annexation either. You don't need. to have annexation in. >> Well, you know, under under the Trump. plan originally, we were supposed to. annex the main populated areas by by.
Israelis. It was a strip, quite. significant, and leave the rest because. that's not going to be returned under. any any plan. Okay. And then you said, "Okay, there's this outstanding question. assuming there'll be genuine reforms in. the Palestinian Authority or in the. Palestinian. polity there that recognizes Israel's. right to exist, cease to conduct lawfare. and delegitimization and attempts to. drive us to indefensible lines. When. that changes, you'll have a a real. discussion. >> Isn't it important though for your for.
your Arab partners as well in order to. say that. >> Yes, it's it's important in public. conversations. In private conversations, you want the. truth. I mean beyond. beyond the regular things. Many of them don't give a hoot. >> They don't care about annexation. >> They don't care about the Palestinian. issue. They care about its effect on the. street. They themselves say we. understand that there's so much there's. so much. chicanery there and so much corruption. there and that they say uh you know, we.
need something in order to have to be to. continue the Abraham Accords which I. uh made with President Trump and the. leaders of four Arab countries and we. got four peace treaties. And in fact, it's because they put aside. this question and didn't try to drive it. into a wall that we had the peace. agreements with the the Emirates, with. Bahrain, with the Morocco, and Sudan.
