Are Trump supporters waking up the risks?
Many Trump supporters. predicated that support. on the idea. that there were tail risks. of a Trump presidency. That this was a man. who they knew. didn't have direct. political experience, who they knew. could fly off the handle, who they knew. might say outrageous things. but fundamentally. he had their back. and he acted in their interests. And the tail risk of him, a person like Donald Trump, having the nuclear codes. was just so far out there. that we didn't really need to. consider them. And I think with “truths” like that. on Truth Social,
you see the very. real risk that no longer. is in the periphery, it's front and centre. as America faces. what I think is a real crisis. So I think that from. the American public's. point of view. you no longer can write off. or dismiss. certain things that Donald Trump. always had, we knew as a possibility, but now we're very much. at the forefront. And just to add. it’s not just Trump supporters. in America thinking that, it's also Trump. supporters abroad. who are thinking that. in some cases. There was this remarkable moment. a couple of weeks ago.
where Donald Trump flew to Miami. for a Saudi-sponsored. investment conference. And while he was there. on the stage. giving a speech, he made a joke about how. the Saudi crown prince. had to kiss his ass. That did not go over. well in Saudi Arabia. The country has already been pulled. into a war. with Iran, pulled into a regional war. And now the. President of the United States. is for some reason making. off-colour jokes. about the Saudi crown prince. at a Saudi investment conference. I think Donald Trump has always. had a misconception. of the nature of American power. And here you see the ways.
in which he really has undervalued. the core strengths of America. as a moral, reliable force. on the global stage. And when you have. statements like that. that are made before. a global audience. or a “truth” like that. that is put out. on the world stage, it fundamentally undermines. the credibility. of the White House. and America in general. as a partner.
