A trap house typically. refers to a place like an empty house or. an apartment that is used for the. purposes of selling drugs, illegal. gambling, and work, but mainly drugs. So, think of it as like a very, very. illegal CVS. You walk in, you hope not. to step on anyone that's slumped over on. the floor. You pay for your drugs, and. you leave with every intention that.

you're going to feel better after you. take these drugs. Some people like to. loiter through the high of their. recently acquired purchase, hence, you. know, the people laying on the floor at. most trap houses. It's a very common. site. Each trap house, though, is going. to be a little bit different. Some of. them just are non-government. approvedarmacies where transactions are. made. Others serve as manufacturing. points where the drugs themselves are. created but not in a lab in the kitchen. and they're all lumped together and. people just call them trap houses. It.

said the term comes from the fact that. trap houses were known to only have one. door in and out. So there's only one way. in, there's only one way out. So that. nobody could rob the pharmacist, the. dealer. Yeah. But others say that's not. entirely true because no smart dealer is. going to keep their stash in their trap. house. They're going to have a separate. house called the Stash House. But who. are we to dissect someone's business. model? Nevertheless, there are two. younger women standing at what appears. to be the only entrance into this trap.

house trap apartment. They look a tad. bit out of place. They both look latina. with a bit of like baby fat in their. cheeks, which makes them look even. younger than they already are. and they. kind of looked like the types of girls. that you would see like at a. receptionist desk, at a doctor's office, a dentist office, but instead here they. are at the front door of a trap. apartment in Dallas, Texas. Which is not. to say that there is like a look to. someone who finds themselves addicted to.

substances, but they just look a little. bit out of place, especially when you. hear the reason that they're in this. trap house to begin with. They're not. here to purchase drugs. They're here to. sell them. A lot of them. This is a. business deal, a proposition for the. owner of the trap house, who is. ironically named Love. And like any good. business proposal, the details are going. to be ironed out by both parties. One of. the two women, she's a narco with deep. connections to a cartel in Mexico. The. other woman, she's just the translator,

so she's translating everything the. other one says in Spanish, translating. it to English for love. They likely need. someone to move products for them. And. since Love already deals drugs, has. connections in the US, it could be a. profitable business deal for both. parties. But the cartels don't just. trust anybody, especially a complete. outsider like Love with no ties to the. cartel. He's just an American man. The. three of them are sitting around Love's. kitchen table. And the younger woman, the translator, informs Love, before we.

can enter this very profitable business. agreement. The type of business. agreement that has the potential to turn. Love into one of the biggest dealers. north of the border, this deal is going. to give him a lump sum of drugs and cash. on signing. Well, it's more like a. handshake. Plus a lifetime of drugs from. the cartels. >> Is this Love's house apartment? >> Yes. >> Okay. Now, the only thing love needs to. do is earn the trust of the cartels. How? It's very simple. Kill someone. And.

not just anyone. They've already picked. out the target. A 35-year-old pediatric. dentist. Her name is Kendra Hatcher. And. in order for this to work, love needs to. kill her first. Okay, maybe this is some. sort of initiation to say that you can. get blood on your hands. But also, it. doesn't make any sense. Why would the. cartels want to kill a random dentist. for children in Texas? And they want her. dead so much so that they're offering.

at the TV on the ceiling and basically. disassociate for 45 minutes while trying. not to drool over themselves pediatric. dentistry is that on steroids it's. another level you're doing all of that, but now you have to convince an. undeveloped frontal lobe of a toddler. that cooperating is in their best. interest. It's like negotiating with a. bank robber. They can cry, hit, full-on. attempt a prison break. And when the. treatment is really, really important, sometimes that minisized bank robber has. to get strapped down to the chair. exorcism style. And I would imagine if. it were up to the children, if they knew.

what Google reviews were, they would. leave scathing reviews of their. experience at the dental office because. what kid likes a dentist? Apparently, that sentiment does not apply to Kendra. the Hatcher. Kids have handwritten. letters for her after their dentist. experience. It's almost like she's their. Santa Claus. And eventually, not that. she needs it by any means, to have like. a fulfilling life. But Kendra does have. her own Grey's Anatomy moment story. line, if you will. He's the. main male lead doctor, Derek Shepard, who is married to Meredith Gray, the.

main lead in the show. And just like the. show Derek Shepard, right? Good guy. But. Meredith Gray is kind of the prize. >> for Ricky. I'm sure meeting Kendra is I. guess like meeting his Meredith Gray. So. before meeting Kendra, he was actually. in therapy. He was very concerned and. worried about how he tends to shut. people out. So, the. apartment building, he's getting into. the spirit, if you will, because. tomorrow he and Kendra are going on. their vacation to Cancun. So if it were. up to him, she would be home eating. tacos with him at the taco stand across. from the apartment building. But she's. running a few errands before they head. off to Cancun tomorrow. I mean, maybe. it's like for the best, actually. There. has been a bit of commotion in the.

apartment building. It's not big. It's. not like there's a fire, but there seems. to be a heavy presence of police. vehicles, and the parking lot to the. building has been taped off. It's not. until Ricky is almost done and finished. with his meal he overhears the table. next to him and they're talking about. what happened over there and one of them. responds, "I don't I think a woman was. shot." Yeah, I think a woman was shot. There's no panic that registers in. Ricky, though, because it's clearly not. Kendra. I mean, she's out running. errands. Besides, they're talking about.

how they're going to move to California. So, Rick is moving to California in 5. months. Kendra was thinking about moving. out with him, and they're talking about. how they should save up for a wedding. So, there's no way it's Kendra. Okay. Ricky Ubers back to his apartment and he. focuses on making sure this trip is. going to be perfect. He's calling his. bank to ask about international. transaction fees for his credit card. Ricky sends Kendra a text message. letting her know there's something going. on at the entrance of your parking. garage. You're not going to be able to. drive into your underground parking lot.

When Detective Barnes with Dallas PD. gets a call about a homicide, he's. already on his way home. He just. finished a full shift, but there's. apparently no other homicide detectives. available. So they call him in and he. immediately turns around and he details. when he first gets there. There's not. really a lot going on. Like no one can. really tell him much. It's a robbery. gone wrong in a luxury apartment. building in uptown Dallas, which is. typically a very wealthy area with very. little crime. He arrives on the scene. There's cruisers. There's fire trucks. all around. There's an unused ambulance.

already long gone. All at the entrance. of this gated parking garage. It's at. street level and then it starts sloping. down. So, you just drive and it's kind. of, you know, like those sloped parking. garages. And Detective Barnes arrives. and some of the other officers are there. briefing him. Two 16-year-olds were. walking to their car in the garage when. they heard tires, a woman scream, and. then a gunshot. They booked it to their. car, locked the doors, and called 911. The 911 call, you can hear the teenager. say, >> 911, where's emergency?

>> Hi. Uh, someone just got shot in the. parking lot of uh the Gables Park 17th. All I heard was screaming and then a. loud pop and then I saw her laying on. the floor and it was like blood coming. out of her neck. >> Detective Barnes walks into the parking. garage with the other officers. It's. mainly packed. You know, there's. resident vehicles everywhere, but. there's also this one area where next to. a white Toyota, there's two empty. parking spots. And instead of a car, there's a body laying there. There are. these very long like like streaks of.

blood. it it just stagnant blood that's. leaking from a young woman's head and. it's just leaking down the slope of the. parking garage. The woman's head and her. hair is matted with blood and flesh. She's dead. Her purse is gone, which is. consistent with the report of a robbery. gone wrong, but her phone is still. there. And it's very clear who she is. because they run the tags on the white. Toyota which belongs to her. But also. right on her medical scrubs, her name is. spelled out. Dr. Kendra Hatcher. Even.

before talks of the cartel being. involved in this case and all of that. gets to Detective Barnes. He's already. very confused by this because. technically at first glance, sure it. could appear like a robbery gone wrong. Her purse is gone. But next to Kendra is. a fully loaded magazine with 13 live. rounds. So, you know the part of the gun. where you keep the bullets? >> Yeah. Yeah, they dropped it or it was an. extra magazine that slipped out of. someone's pockets. They test it. No. fingerprints. But it feels like someone.

got lucky with that. It doesn't seem. like it was intentionally left as some. sort of message or clue or signature. Like this magazine just feels. accidentally left behind. This feels. clumsy. >> That's crazy. >> The robbery theory doesn't make sense. either. carrying out a robbery in an. upscale apartment building that requires. a key fob to get into the parking lot. Most would assume that there are CCTV. cameras pointed at the entrances and. they would assume correctly. It's so. audacious and blatant. There's no cover.

up really. But it's also like. simultaneously clumsy and it just. doesn't make any sense. Also, who would. want to kill a 35-year-old dentist who. has no real enemies? At least not that. the police can quickly identify. It. doesn't make any sense. Step one to. becoming one of the bigger drug lords. operating in North America might be you. just have to become an Olympian first. Just become an Olympic snowboarder and. the rest will be history. He was arrested in January of. this year for running one of the biggest. drug distributions from Colombia through. Mexico through the United States into. Canada, operating one of the biggest.

cocaine markets in all of Canada is what. he's accused of doing. He said he didn't. do it. Prosecutors accused him of. building his own um wedding criminal. enterprise is what they say, stating. that he was the single largest cocaine. supplier in Canada, which obviously. lands him in more trouble in the United. States. landing him in the FBI top 10. most wanted list, which more on that. later because someone involved in this. case is going to end up on that very. same list. But according to prosecutors, Ryan would move product, mainly cocaine,

that was cooked and quality tested in. Colombian kitchens, smuggle it through. Mexico via cartel boats and planes owned. by the Sinaloa cartel. smuggle them. across the US Mexico border in a. longhaul semi-truck with stash houses. all throughout LA Riverside San. Bernardino before they make it across. the US Canada border which was his. target final market. So, you know, after. representing Canada in the Olympics as a. snowboarder, he started selling well at.

least he was very consistent with his. love for snow, I guess. But authorities. believe he ordered dozens of murders, placing multi-million dollar bounties on. potential federal witnesses who were. going to testify against him. Typically, the. point of a bolo is to plaster it. everywhere so everyone in the area, officers, citizens, generally everyone. in town can be on the lookout. And on. the phone and on the TV, there's a bolo. for a Jeep. It's a very unique Jeep. There's distortions on the hood. The. wheels are custom, very rare rims. The. paint is also distinct. Jose's looking. at the TV. He's looking at his phone. And he's looking out the window where.

the identical Jeep is sitting parked in. his driveway. Why are they looking for. his Jeep? It's connected to the local. murder of a pediatric dentist. Like I. said, it's bad. It's really bad. How do. you explain to police? Okay. Yes, that. is my car, but I had nothing to do with. this. Really? I don't know. I don't know. how you explain it, but Jose is going to. try to explain it. Even though sometimes. people are not fair to people who look. like Jose and are named Jose, but Jose. is going to try because he knows he has. I mean, he has nothing to do with any of.

this. He doesn't even know who was. murdered. He just hopes the police will. see that. >> Police posted a photo of his truck. Exactly. >> Yes. Everywhere. Multiple photos. Different angles from CCTV camera inside. of Kendra's apartment parking garage. >> Oh, that's okay. Got it. >> But you can't really see the driver. >> Mhm. >> But Jose's like, "That's my car. How am. I going to convince them that I had. nothing to do with this? >> How does he know that's his car, though? >> There's distortions on the hood that are.

He's explaining, "Okay, yeah, it sounds crazy." Um, trillion%. confident that's my Jeep in the bolo. And that's my Jeep. And I think that my. Jeep was driven into the parking lot. where Kendra was shot and killed. Yes. But but you have to believe him. It's. not him in the Jeep. And he doesn't even. know Kendra. Why would he kill her? Okay. But also, he lent his Jeep to a.

friend that day, which sounds really. convenient and sounds like a lie, but he. can explain. Okay? He runs a tiny little. auto shop. It's not like he has a full. Jify Lube and a full rental car agency. attached to it. Most of his clients are. through word of mouth. So friends, family friends, and because he knows. them and they trust him to fix their. car, he lends out his own Jeep while he. works on their car so that they can run. errands or whatever else they need to. do. That's what happened the day Kendra. was killed. A family friend of his came. in with her car and he's known her since.

god, I think like she even lived with. his sister at one point. They went to. high school together. Like so long. She. comes in with her BMW and Jose lets her. borrow his Jeep. That was 2 days ago. He. didn't think anything of it. Okay. Two. days ago, family friend named Brenda. borrows his Jeep. It's uptown Dallas. And then in Uptown Dallas, a woman is. killed in her luxury apartment parking. lot. He didn't think those were. connected. And then the next day, the. day after the Jeep was borrowed, which.

was, you know, yesterday. So, he's. describing to police. So, he's talking. to police September 4th. The murder was. September 2nd. And then, so yesterday is. September 3rd. Jose is like, "I was. watching TV and I saw my Jeep on a bolo. and then I Googled it and I saw my Jeep. on a bolo." Okay. And he's telling this. the next day. So after seeing his Jeep. on the bolo on September 3rd, the day. before, he decides he's going to first. ask Brenda about what the hell is going. on. He explains to the detectives. I met. up with her. He needed answers. I mean,

at this point, he's terrified for. himself. His family. He can't even He. can't even drive his own car to meet. Brenda because all of Dallas is looking. for his Jeep. They're be on the lookout. They're looking out. He needs to get. answers from Brenda, but he also doesn't. know what the hell she did or didn't do. or what any of this is. So, as casually. as possible, he asks her, "Hey, did you. hear about that dentist who got shot in. Dallas?" Brenda says, "No." "Oh, but.

Jose has a plan." He responds, "That's. funny because the Jeep they're showing. on the news looks a lot like mine. I. lent you my Jeep and then a day later, I'm seeing something that looks exactly. like my Jeep on the news connected to. this murder. Show me.". H. >> Brenda wants Jose to just show her the. pictures. Like, you mean it's a bolo? Google it. Okay. It's my Jeep. But he. cooperates. He pulls out his phone, pulls out the pictures, and presents it. in front of her face. Brenda studies the. pictures. No, >> that's it. It's not your Jeep.

>> Okay. >> Okay. What do you mean it's not my What. do you mean it's not my Jeep? Jose, the. owner of the Jeep, is telling Brenda, who drove the Jeep for like one day, that it's his Jeep and he knows it. Why. are you telling me it's not my Jeep? But. she's telling him it's not. How would. she know? >> Mhm. >> At at this point, he might as well be. zooming in on each picture, shoving it. in her face, pointing out, look at the. paint, the distortions, the wheels, the. sequence, the hood damage, the paint. damage. This is all very unique to my.

Jeep. The Jeep that is my Jeep. It's. not. Jose at this point might as well. have his flabbers gasted because even. the cap he lost from the front bumper on. the right side. Look at the pictures. He's showing the pictures. Guess what's. missing on the right side of the front. bumper? The cap. He even remembers. exactly how he lost the cap. It was. snowy. He was driving the Jeep. SL it. doesn't matter. That's his freaking. Jeep. It doesn't even matter. The cap is. It's his Jeep. He's a freaking mechanic. for crying out loud. He knows his cars.

And somehow this conversation, this very. frustrating conversation between Jose. and Brenda go from Jose trying to. convince Brenda, weirdly that that's his. car, while she remains very stubborn. with zero evidence or factual argument. to back up why it's not his car. Until. all of a sudden, the conversation ends. with Brenda telling Jose, "I'll pay for. you to repaint your Jeep.". >> Wow. Okay, but now it wasn't my Jeep, but now you're going to help me repaint. Why would he even paint it? Why would he. do that? Regardless of who pays, even if.

he paints it, this Jeep is all over the. news. He can't drive it. Everyone in. Dallas is basically looking for it and. it's just sitting in his driveway. Brenda tells him ominously, "Don't say. anything. Don't tell your family. Don't. tell anyone because you will get in. trouble with the police." And she pulls. out the Trump card. Literally, she tells. him, "Well, his citizenship could be at. risk if he goes to the police." Is that. a threat? Brenda basically tells him, "Hide the Jeep. Hide it in your shop. Maybe paint it if you want. I'll help.

you pay for the paint job. Just don't go. to the police.". >> Wow. >> Jose agrees. At least that's what he. tells Brenda because now he's at the. police station doing the right thing and. informing police that's my Jeep. And at. some point during the interview, Jose. might regret not listening to Brenda. At. least briefly. Well, not briefly, maybe. for hours. Because the police, they take. a statement, they leave him in the. interrogation room without his phone, without anyone or anything, just sitting. in the interrogation room for at least. the next 4 hours. Yeah, for at least 2.

hours of that, he's in a fetal position, and it appears he starts praying out of. sheer panic, fear, and desperation. I'm. sure the detectives have to confirm. Jose's story, but I'm sure in Jose's. mind, he's running through like every. possibility. Ice could be on their way. They're stopping by for a few snacks. That's why it's taking so long. Every. news story of wrongfully convicted. individuals could be popping up in his. mind. And then finally the door swings. open. The detective asks him, "You. good?" "Yeah, I'm good.".

>> No, I'm good. You good? >> Yeah, I'm good. >> He was in fact not good. >> He was on the ground or. >> Yeah. He's like in a fetal position. He's on the ground on his knees praying. and then he's getting back up. >> Yeah. But what else are you going to say. when you're not good in this type of. situation? They're like water. Yeah. I'm. just ready. Um Okay. Yeah. A couple more. minutes. >> So, your brother's coming to get you? >> Yes, sir. >> You want some pizza? >> No, I'm good. >> You're good? >> I'm ready.

>> No, Jose doesn't want some pizza. He. wants to go home. But they tell him, "Just a few more minutes." The officers. shut the door again, and when Jose is. alone, he whispers to himself, >> "Couple more minutes, my ass. Couple. more hours. Dang it, dude. What the. fuck?" Eventually, the time does come. Jose is cleared to go home, but his. Jeep, his Jeep has to stay. But Jose is. not the only one calling into the police. with information. One comes in the form. of an email, a very formal sounding. email at that. Hello, I recently heard.

about Kendra Hatcher's tragic death. I. attended dental school with Kendra for 4. years, 2006 to 2010. Yes, a man from.

El Paso. One little girl. She It seems like a brain dump of. thoughts that she's having. But the next. thought she writes down seems connected. to the tip that the police received. She. writes, "Should I pursue civil suit. against Steven for domestic violence? Is. Steven going to pursue hurting me? I. will be safe. He has a lot of other. things to worry about. He will do jail. time. Handcuffs, not first time. The. officers turn the page and it's another. page filled with what appears to be. quickly written down thoughts and then.

the words, "Steven, deal presented. Plea. bargain. Doesn't look good for him. Safe? Yes. He has a lot to worry about. He's done this before. He's done this. before.". >> And if he's done this before, is he. going to do it again? I have never. thought deeply about chair etiquette. before seeing this interrogation. I. mean, okay, I have, but this is a weird. interrogation. Let's say you and I walk. into a restaurant and we're led to a. table with a booth and a chair. Who. takes the booth? Who takes the chair? You would take the chair and offer me.

the booth, right? Although, I actually. really hate sitting in a booth. I much. prefer a chair. That's like a thing. Okay. But if or if your boss asks you, follow me into my office, you don't sit. in her chair behind the desk because. it's just chair etiquette. I mean, I. guess there's no written rule that you. cannot, but you would just sit in one of. the guest chairs across from the desk. The same goes for interrogation rooms. Everything is typically designed. purposefully, including the chair. etiquette, and Brenda immediately fails.

Detective Barnes escorts Brenda into the. room. She enters first. The. interrogation room recording starts and. we're like a fly on the wall corner. camera angle. It's a different room from. the one that Jose is in, but it's like. pretty much the same layout. So Brenda. is brought in after Jose's whole thing. Okay. >> Now they have um there's two chairs. One. of them is an office chair, a wheelie. chair. Whoever is sitting in that chair. is going to have their back to the door. and also to the camera. metal legs and it's just like bars of. metal. It's a metal chair and it's the. furthest corner of the room and it's a. stationary chair. Interrogation rooms. are designed to make the interviewee. feel cornered, locked in one spot, hence. the lack of wheels, never too. comfortable, never too relaxed, and it's. also usually very clear who sits where. in an interrogation room. If a detective. brings you into one of these types of. rooms, well, first of all, you got to. ask for your attorney, but that's just. my advice. But second of all, Detective.

Barn's newest interviewee, newest lead, walks in, plops right down in the. wheelie chair, and she's like wheeling, scooching into the desk, leaving the. cold metal stationary chair for the. host, Detective Barnes. And Detective. Barnes asks her to switch. I mean, she. does without hesitation to her, you. know, to her benefit, but it's just very. bold. >> That's interesting. >> It's just a little off. >> Yeah. lap. She has her hair pulled back, low. ponytail. She's wearing a black baseball. hat, and she's kind of wearing this like. striped almost Y2K tight collared shirt. It's like an orange creamsicle color of. stripes. It's like a sherbet ice cream. It's cute. It's very casual. She's also. wearing. >> Brenda. >> in her 30s, but she she could easily. pass for like 29 even. She looks pretty. young. >> Okay. She's also wearing black capri. leggings that end right under her knees, bright white tennis shoes, and her body.

type is just like for visual sake, just. like a regular looking lady. I don't. know. You know, Detective Barnes is kind. of what you expect. He's very law and. ordery. very messily white ironed. button-d down dress shoes, dress slacks, broad back, very great posture, even in. a wheelie chair, which Brenda almost. stole from him, but he thanks Brenda for. coming down to talk to him. And she. responds, and I will note, I just want. to put a disclaimer, I do think, and I.

know this and so no one has to point it. out in the comments, but people do. anyway. Um, I do know that I to some. people have a voice that is reminiscent. of a hyena being resurrected. So, I don't think I'm in a place to comment. on someone's voice. However, it's also. the tone that Brenda uses. That's very. interesting. And I'm not judging her for. it. I'm just pointing it out so you get. the full picture. Her voice and tone. reminds me of the tradife trend online. where they talk very slowly and almost. kind of breathy.

I'm taking my board exam. I've. been preparing for the last two weeks. I. took my state exam and I made 100. And. then I'm taking my board next week. It's. pretty hard. 450 questions. of the things that I wanted to talk to. you about, a young lady was killed. Kendra Hatcher was killed on Wednesday, September 2nd. Brenda has no visible. reaction. She is being questioned on. September 4th, the night of September. 4th. So, this is 2 days later. the way. that your name came up in the. investigation was linked to the vehicle. Okay. So, the Jeep, the black Jeep, and. I wanted, you know, to talk to you a. little bit specifically about Wednesday, what you were doing Wednesday and the. incident involving a Jeep. >> Of course. Okay. And then from Carol. went to the Chili's off of George Bush. >> Okay. >> And um that was my day on Wednesday. >> Okay. >> Brenda continues to tell Barnes that her. classmate Billy Wen can verify that they. were at the library study room from. 12:00 to 5:30 on September 2nd. After the study. session, Billy gives her a ride to. Chili's. Billy goes home while Brenda. goes inside and grabs a table with Jose. Jose with the Jeep. Jose with the Jeep. So, technically, he's Jose with the BMW. now. So, he drove up to Chili's in a BMW.

because he's trying to swap. That's why. he's at the Chili's because he wants his. Jeep back. The BMW is fixed. That's why. he's meeting Brenda at Chili's to swap. the cars back. Brenda was dropped off. though because Billy gave her a ride to. Chili's after their study session and. then after going to Fuzzies for tacos. So where is Jose's Jeep? Jose is wondering this. Detective Barnes. is wondering this. We're wondering this. But first, we have to find out what she. ate at Chili's. Okay, she's telling us.

fried pickles, three chilias for $3.99. each, which is basically Chili's. margarita special. And I still want to. know where the hell the jeep is. But. this is not my interrogation. This is. Detective Barton's interrogation. So we. see Brenda grab her purse, reach into. her bag, then her wallet, and she pulls. out a tiny little white piece of paper. A receipt from Chili's. Of course, the. time that Kendra Hatcher is killed, Brenda is taking advantage of the. Chili's margarita special. >> because the receipt time matches the the. murder time. >> So he's like, "Okay, you closed out at.

8:56. Okay, do you mind if I hang on to. this? Go ahead." No. Yeah, keep it. Okay, great. You're free to go. >> Just pull out a receipt from her bag. >> Mhm. Huh. >> So, he's like, "Okay, great. You're free. to go, Brenda. See you next week at. Chili so we can pound back Chilleras. Uh, we don't need any more information.". That's not at all how it happens. He's. like, "What the hell happened to the. Jeep?" Obviously, Detective Barnes has a. little more tact than that. So, instead, he asks in a very calm, casual manner. about the Jeep and how what Jose told. him and what Brenda is telling him is.

not adding up. I got a very different. story from Jose. got a very different. story from him about the Jeep and about. who borrowed it and about whose vehicle. was dropped off and Okay, he told me he. was working on a vehicle for you. She's. like, "No, he said that he was working. on your BMW." That's what he told me. It's not my BMW. It's Crystal's BMW. >> He said that he was working on your BMW. That's what he told me. >> It is not my BMW. It's Crystal's BMW. >> Okay.

>> Crystal, who the hell is Crystal? Crystal is Brenda's friend, and they. were apparently together dropping off. Crystal's BMW with Jose, borrowing his. Jeep. Either way, Detective Barnes is. going to need to bring in Crystal. News stations are probably in the top. three businesses that consistently get. the most random, unwarranted mail. Not. that it's an everyday thing or even a. common thing. Mostly, it's just people.

Santa Claus. It has to be like a class. project from a second grader who's just. now learning how mail works, right? They. open it and it's an old cassette tape. with a letter. I mean, I don't know if I.

could describe it as a letter. By. letter, I mean it's like a nursery rhyme. in crayon on one side and a crayon. drawing on the other side. The nursery. rhyme goes like this. If you leave a. door half open, soon you'll hear the. whisper spoken. If you play outside. alone, soon you won't be going home. If. your windows left unlatched, you'll hear. him tapping on the glass. If you're. lonely, sad, and blue, the whisper man. will come for you.

It's very weird, but nursery rhymes are. always weird and creepy if you read into. them too much and in a certain tone. Plus, the crayon drawing is very normal. There's like the typical sun in the top. corner page. I mean, it's very clear. that this is a kid. He even signed his. name. The news station, though, probably. like precautionary. They call 911. Police respond immediately. They have a. feeling that it's him. They play the. tape, the cassette tape that came with. the letter just to confirm, and you hear. an adult male voice beginning to whisper.

as he records over the tape. And a. missing 8-year-old boy who disappeared. in early 2026 is forced to whisper back. a response. If authorities are right, these might be the boy's last words. The. kidnapping, the tapes, the causes of. death, they are nearly identical. Duplicate murders that match the MMO of. one person. The town knows him as the. And while Jose was. contemplating pretty much every life. decision that led him to even purchasing. a Jeep in the first place, Brenda is. very relaxed for the most part. Brenda. snuggles in the chair and tries to fall. asleep with a pink blanket. But there's. this one point towards the end of the. footage. She throws the blanket off, stands up, reties her hair into a pony, sits down, rummages through her purse, pulls out something, dabs it on her. face, puts it back in her purse, rummages through her bag, pulls out. another thing, dabs it on her lips.

She's doing makeup. in the interrogation room, which again, there is nothing wrong with touching up. your face. And you know what? I don't. know what I would do in an interrogation. room. >> She's just very relaxed, right? >> Super relaxed. >> Is it forced or is it She's actually. really relaxed. >> Honestly, it feels really relaxed. >> Okay. Interesting. >> Yeah. You know, she's doing her makeup. as Dallas PD are in the next office over. trying to verify her alibi for the. murder of Dr. Kendra Hatcher. a bit.

strange perhaps, but it's definitely not. illegal because like I said, that same. evening Brenda is released, her alibi. clears, and so does Jose's. Since we're. talking about cleared alibis, Kendra's. exartners are also cleared. So, that. just leaves I mean, that leaves who? This very elusive Crystal and probably. Ricky, Kendra's current boyfriend. It's. time to bring Ricky in again. Detective. Barnes has already spoken with Ricky. He. was at the taco stand right outside.

Kendra's apartment where she was. murdered in the parking lot of the, you. know, apartment that he's outside eating. tacos. He told Detective Bartens already. that he left from the taco place to go. back to his place to call the bank. And. the rest of the night, I mean, he sent. message after message after message to. Kendra that went unanswered. I mean, they've been going unanswered even. before he went to go eat tacos. 7:53. I'm super hungry, sweetie. Have you. eaten dinner yet? No response. 8:04. Sweetie, I can't wait any longer. Off to. get food. Let me know when you're home. It's interesting because Ricky had.

already been at Kendra's waiting for. her, but since he's hungry, he decides. to head down to get tacos. He takes the. elevator straight down to the first. floor, which is the level above the. first level of the parking garage, crosses the street, grabs tacos, and. while he's eating, he sends another. message. 8:15. There's something going. on at the entrance of your parking. garage. You won't be able to drive into. your underground parking lot. >> I'm sorry. What time was the murder. taking place? like around 7:45. 8:38. Are you okay? You said you were on.

your way home over an hour ago. 8:44. I'm a little bit worried about you, sweetie. So, at this point, he's. probably back at his place. 9:40. Still. no response. Ricky can't take it. He. takes an Uber back to Kendra's. apartment. By 9:50, he's walking through. the first level lobby where the. concierge desk is, and he's asking John, the concierge, "Buzz me up." This is. what he normally does every time he. visits or stays over at Kendra. This is. normally how it goes. in the concurge. always buzzes him up except this time. because Jon is looking at him for a few. moments. Hold on. Hold on for what? Jon.

disappears into the back room and Ricky. is left alone in the lobby feeling he. describes it like a full-blown panic. coming in. He sends another message to. Kendra. 9:53. They are not letting me. upstairs. Please call me. John finally. comes out of the back room and instead. of buzzing Ricky up, he guides Ricky to. the back room where he's like, "What is. going on?" The police walk in and inform. Ricky that Kendra has been shot and. killed. And I imagine any detective with. their badge is going to be studying.

Ricky's face when they inform him of her. passing. But it's not his reaction. that's intriguing to investigators. It's. more so what he does immediately after. So technically Ricky's alibi does clear, but the investigators are intrigued by. something. Ricky is I will say he's. really beside himself. like he his. reaction I think it seems like it was. very genuine but he starts um informing. everyone around him of Kendra's passing. his family he texts his sister who lives. a few states away his old friends he.

starts texting them all and his sister. it seems like she's a big problem solver. in her life she decides to come see. Ricky she's going to come a few states. over manage everything she's going to. run a tight ship she's going to field. calls coming into Ricky she's going to. calls from people likely offering. condolences calls from news reporters. ers, journalists, media. She's. organizing a meal train with a local. friend of Ricky's so that Ricky doesn't. have to be overwhelmed thinking about. groceries and where to buy food and. likely forgetting to eat because he. doesn't have food. And that local friend.

of his that his sister is organizing. with also happens to be his. ex-girlfriend and it's someone that the. detectives. >> Ricky's ex-girlfriend is a friend of. his. >> Yeah. That he texted and now she is. helping Ricky's sister organize this. meal train. >> I see. So, his ex-girlfriend, >> okay, >> and this ex-girlfriend is someone the. detectives are becoming very familiar. with because it is none other than. Brenda Delgado. Wheelie chair, lipstick, I am second, Jeep friend, tiny wrist,

Brenda Delgado. It is very difficult to. be a co-orker to someone who has. probably most likely genuinely lost. their goddamn minds. if it isn't already. bad enough to avoid co-worker bonding. sessions. Co-workers are asking you if. you want to go out with them after work, but you would literally rather go home. and not think about work. But this this. is worse because Brenda is not a normal. co-orker. She's already complained to. every single person at work that her and.

her dermatologist boyfriend had broken. up. But now she's dragging her coworker. Aaron to this very random, very specific. bar in Dallas after work. When Aaron. gets there, the bar is packed. Brenda. guides her to the bar and there's about. three stools left. That's how packed it. is. I mean, there's people everywhere. So, they take up two of the three. stools. They both take a seat and. there's only one empty chair at the bar. left. Finally, a woman walks in and the. only available seat is right there. So,

she takes it. She sits down and she. starts texting on her phone. Aaron. notices that Brenda is like zeroed in on. this random woman who just walked in. And Brenda oddly uses this moment to get. up, walk behind her coworker Aaron, and. start playing with Aaron's hair. Almost. as if she's trying to braid it. But it's. very clear to Aaron, just judging by the. fingerwork, it's not really like she's. trying to braid her hair or do anything. nice to her hair. And when she looks up. at Brenda, Brenda is zeroing in on this.

woman's phone, seeing what she's doing. on the phone. It's clear from the moment. that she saw Brenda all doled up that. this was one of Brenda's crazy plans. Brenda pretends to play with Aaron's. hair while she watches the woman next to. her. And right there, you see this woman. texting a man named Ricky. Ricky never ends up coming into the bar. because he pulls up to the parking lot. to go into this bar, his date, and he.

sees his ex-girlfriend's car in the. parking lot. He texts his date to. reschedule or to head to a different. bar, and he doesn't even know that none. of this was a coincidence. This was a. setup by Brenda. And in the interrogation room, Detective. Barnes just wants one thing from Ricky. They already heard what he was doing. He. was in the apartment prepping for their. trip. Then he went to go grab tacos. They already saw the messages on. Kendra's phone. And now they know that. Ricky's ex-girlfriend. One of the people. that he reached out to for support is.

Brenda, his ex-girlfriend, tiny wrist. jeep Brenda. But because of that. connection, authorities want his phone. so that they can run a very quick data. dump. Nothing serious. They tell him, "Just give us a copy of your entire cell. phone and we can rule you out and be on. your way." Ricky completely understands. It's just that he got a new phone. >> Huh? >> Detective Barton seems a little taken. back. After Kendra died, he got a new.

phone. >> What? >> But Ricky is like, "Wait, hold on, though." Like, why are you taking it. back? You're the one that told me to do. that. There was a bit of. miscommunication, I guess you could say. Ricky says he thought that's what Barnes. told him to do was to get a new cell. phone because he started getting calls. from media just badgering him for. comments. Yeah, Legacy Media is like, "Hey, give me a statement right now.". And so he told Barnes that. Barnes is. like, "Yeah, you should probably get a. new number." Barnes is like, "What are. you talking about?" I said, "Get a new. number, not a new cell phone." Because.

technically, even if you get a new. phone, you still have the same phone. number. You're still going to get calls. from the media. Like, what is happening? Hello. Are the dots not connecting? He. does have the old phone, but it's not. with him right now. And also, Detective. Barnes is informing Ricky that they. still need to do a data dump on this. phone whether or not he brings it in.

Detective Barnes is like, "I can get a. search warrant if you want. It's really. up to you, Ricky." And what he means by. that is, "It's really not up to you, Ricky, at all.". Ricky, however, wants to cooperate, but. he says, "I'm not saying no by any. means, okay? It was literally just. midnight. I was up talking to my sister. and we were talking and there's just. something that we don't know to the. point where we're just like I mean, we. just. what what does this have to do with the. phone?" Ricky continues kind of.

rambling. I mean, I just have like I. mean, the people that I know are more I. mean, I'm more of like a physician. lawyer and. >> this is like a recorded interview. Yes. And and so they were just almost, you. know, like scared on my you know what I. mean? Like I wasn't even really thinking. about that. And they're like, "No, you. really you really have to. That's a big. deal. And I I just don't know if you. want to get involved." And again, I'm. not saying no. I'm just saying I just. need to ask somebody who can maybe help.

But like we don't. really expect anything more than like a. goofy selfie here or there, but it's. just very standard stuff. Ricky doesn't. directly respond to what Detective. Barnes just said. He instead runs his. hand through his hair. He scratches the. back of his head and he almost kind of. asks sheepishly like and just from a. professional standpoint, am I being. recorded right now? They are in an. interrogation room. And well, I mean, it's all part of the investigation.

Everything that we do in this building. is recorded. And that's why I asked you. to bring the notes so that I can get it. recorded. Ricky says, "Yeah, yeah.". Again, I want to I feel like I should. maybe just talk to someone. >> from a professional standpoint. I mean, you know, in Am I even being recorded. right now? >> Yes. >> Okay. I totally understand. Totally. But ultimately he informs Ricky. that his responsibility is to Kendra's. family and to do everything to find out. all the details and to look at the whole. picture. And the whole picture being.

whatever Ricky might have on his phone. Ricky responds with kind of an. interesting response that really I think. only a dermatologist might have in this. situation. He expresses a lot of concern. that okay so he took a picture of a. patient um to show the condition of. their skin but he sent it to a colleague. who's also a dermatologist and a doctor. to get a second opinion which he says. technically he's not supposed to do that. from a professional standpoint. because the other physician is not their.

doctor. So you can't just without. consent send a picture of their skin. even if there's no identifying markers. or anything. Okay, it seems like he's. trying to say he doesn't feel. comfortable with that and now this is. going to be on police record. To which. Detective Barnes tells him straight up, I honestly couldn't give a less. about a mole basically. He's like, I. don't care about moles. I don't care if. you've got patients mole pictures up in. there cuz it's like a picture of a mole. that he wanted a second opinion on. He. says, I'm concerned with the people.

responsible for killing Kendra Hatcher. Which then moves Ricky to his next train. of thought. Yeah. Yeah. So then I'm a. suspect then? >> Am I um I mean am I considered a suspect. right now? >> Detective Barnes in the most roundabout. law and order way neither confirms nor. denies anything. Just says he wants the. full picture once more. Can I speak to. you about it off the record? Can I do. that? No. We have to record. Anything. that we do has to be recorded and has to. be recorded. And I understand you have a.

professional status that you're trying. to uphold. I understand that. But also. we have to document things, right? Can I. talk about things? Yeah. Okay. Because I. mean, again, I just want to be able to. focus on I mean, I can't even I can't. even focus on the fact that my. girlfriend got shot. Detective Barnes. has given Ricky the benefit of the. doubt. But at this point, he still has a. gunman that he's looking for. And. Ricky's hesitation, it's almost it's. kind of a little on the nose. It's I'm. sure it's unsettling. He also got a new.

phone. He's nervous to turn in the old. phone. Maybe because Ricky knows Brenda. quite well, actually intimately because. they're exes and also they remained. friends after that and she's a friend. that he texted about his girlfriend. being shot the night that Kendra died, right? So it seems like they had some. sort of close friendship afterwards. She's also the one that was organizing a. meal train with his sister, remember? So. not only that, but Ricky also knows. Jose. >> What? >> He just doesn't know why that's.

important yet. Ricky has no clue. So. maybe he's hesitant to give over his. phone because he knows that the three of. them met up a month prior to Kendra's. death because Ricky needed to get some. work done on his truck. >> Ricky, Jose, and. >> Brenda. >> Brenda met up. >> a month before Kendra's death. Ricky's. truck started making noise and. eventually it became just like this hunk. of metal sitting outside Kendra's. building. That's why he Ubered back to. his apartment. Remember? >> Mhm. >> Yeah. It wasn't even drivable. So. Brenda, Ricky's ex is like, "Hey, you. could take it to the dealership or you. could bring it to my friend Jose and.

he'll get you a really good deal." So. she connects them and that guy is Jose, Jose with the Jeep. Brenda gives him a. ride to and from Jose's shop on two. different occasions to try and fix his. truck. So, it would make sense. technically by any investigator. standpoint, which is like raw. intelligence work that perhaps Ricky is. involved because the boyfriends, the. husbands, the partners, they are often. very much involved. But Detective Barnes. probably knows at this point, it's never.

that easy. Okay. The more he digs into. Ricky, Detective Barnes realizes, I. don't think this guy is involved at all. Like Ricky was honestly just confused. and in shock and he almost instantly. snaps out of it. So he does seem like he. was really nervous about the. professional and the mole thing because. immediately after he's like, "You know. what? Just Yeah, here's my phone.". >> The old phone. Yeah, he gave it up. Okay. >> He's like, "I just I was nervous." You. know, basically he also gives detailed. pages of notes and dates, verifiable. dates along with detailed bank.

statements. Ricky does what Detective. Barnes wants and more. Like he goes the. extra mile. He even details in depth his. relationship with not just Kendra, but. also with Brenda. And while I normally. like to remain incredibly skeptical of. people, especially partners, when their. partner ends up dead, I do really think. it's just initial shock and confusion. The rest of the investigation, Ricky and. even his mom are there just trying to. help investigators with pretty much. everything they ask and more. I do think. that he was really nervous about the.

picture of the mole. >> Yeah. and he was probably in a state. where he couldn't think correctly and he. was in shock. Ricky's mom even sends the. detectives a 14-page document of. everything she knows along with. timelines that the detectives used to. their benefit. But most importantly, I. would say Ricky's alibi does check out. He's on CCTV camera the whole time. throughout the murder. His movements. match exactly what he was describing. There's nothing in his digital footprint. that would indicate any sort of. connection to anything. In fact,

everything he said is just there's. evidence for it. Every text messages, not even to just Kendra, but to Brenda, everything is there. And there is no way. that Ricky is the shooter, let alone is. involved. He's just a doctor grieving. the loss of his girlfriend. And this is. a girlfriend that they found in his. digital evidence that he really wanted. to marry. So, if Ricky is cleared, if. Jose doesn't know Kendra and didn't even. have his Jeep the day of the shooting, if Brenda has an alibi via her receipt. for three chilias from Chili's, then who.

the hell is the killer? Who drove the. Jeep into the parking lot and shot. Kendra dead? One name keeps coming up, Crystal. Just time for Detective Barnes. to talk to Crystal. And I don't know if. they have a washing machine at this. police station, but when it's cold in. the interrogation room, the officers. pass the interviewee pink blanket. I've. seen it so many times in this case. I. don't know if they wash it each time or. if it just like carries with it the. ambient smell of confessions because now. 23-year-old Crystal Cortez is sitting in. the interrogation room. She's snuggling.

up to this pink blanket and she's. actually quite enthusiastic to help. officers. And in her mind, this is. really good. This is actually like too. good because the photo of the jeep, the. bolo that it seems like half of Dallas. has seen at this point, it's very. blurry. You can't exactly make out who. the driver is. But if you look super. close, you squint one eye, and if you. know the truth, like Crystal knows the. truth, then you know Crystal was the one. driving the Jeep. She straight up tells. the officers, "Yes." So that's me in the. car. Mhm. That's me in the Jeep. I was. driving the Jeep, but I wasn't alone in.

the Jeep. My six-year-old son was in the. backseat of the Jeep. And you'll never. believe, you will never believe what. happened that day. Crystal starts. sharing with Detective Barnes. It's. basically like one of those movies. She's in the car driving. Her son is in. the back. just picked him up from. school. And because her son had. requested that they go to the park, she. goes and parks inside Kendra's apartment. building where she does not live, she. doesn't even have a friend that lives in. this apartment building. Why is Crystal. in this apartment building? She says, "Well, I know that they have free. parking.".

>> Or I was going to park cuz I didn't park. at all. >> Was because I knew that there was free. parking. >> What? >> And if you've been to like any nice. apartment building. >> Yeah, that makes no sense. >> They like never have free parking. >> Yeah. She knew that there was free. parking so that she could park the car. and then they could walk to the park. But she's about to get out when she. hears a gunshot. And then all of a. sudden, one of the doors to the cars. open and there is a guy wearing a mask. demanding she essentially be the getaway. driver. He's like, "Drive." Points the. gun at her. >> I'm pulling in the parking lot.

>> Mhm. >> And before I pull in, right there by the. M of America. The guy gets in my seat. and he puts the gun right here. My son's. in the back. My son is in the back. My. instinct is I'm I'm just shocked and. nervous as anybody else. My instinct, he's like, "Don't look at me. Don't say. anything to me. Nothing will happen to. you or your kid." He gets in the back. seat. And he sits down. He's like, "Drive. Just drive." I'm like, "Okay.". What is Crystal to do? She's to drive. That's That's what This is a case of.

wrong place, wrong time. She just. happened to drive directly into a murder. scene. That was her only fault. Detective Barnes is intently listening. to Crystal's story of what happened that. day, even though he knows, "We know that. this story is as believable as a cow on. roller skates speeding down the highway. But as any good listener, Detective. Barnes listens to her story, lets her. finish, and then presents her with. something fascinating." So, in the CCTV. footage, the shooter gets out the Jeep. to shoot Kendra. >> That's crazy. Yeah. >> Then he gets back into the Jeep, and.

then the Jeep takes off. That is an honest misunderstanding. Crystal must have gotten confused. What. really happened is that she stopped at a. stop sign before she entered the parking. lot. The gunman got in her car at the. stop sign, opened the door, she didn't. lock the doors, you know, demanding she. drive into the parking lot. He told her, "Don't look at me. Don't say nothing. You pull in this parking lot. I will. kill you. I'll kill your son if you do. something." Crystal starts adding a. little bit more flare, a little bit more. details to this rendition. I'm sitting. there begging Jesus. I'm begging Jesus,

"My son, please stay asleep. Please stay. asleep. Please stay asleep. Right. Did. you honk your horn? >> Don't look at me. Don't say nothing. Don't even mention nothing. I will kill. you. She had his location, his emails, bank account, and everything. about him. She was really obsessed over. him. She basically had a second phone. She would know his locations and. movements from that phone. >> She would have a different phone and she.

would basically know all his location. and movement of him. Jennifer thinks. that maybe it's the way the ex broke up. with her roommate that has her spiraling. into craziness. He did break up with her. via email, which Jennifer can understand. why her roommate is so obsessed, but. this was like obsession level obsessed. She still had his house key, login for. his bank accounts, his Gmail. Jennifer. ultimately moves out because it was just. miserable. She would avoid going home at.

times because the roommate would be all. pent up and angry at the ex-boyfriend. And then if Jennifer is not home, she. would get mad at Jennifer because. Jennifer is not home to help her get. through her emotions. But before. Jennifer moves out, she does facilitate. what was an innocent gathering at the. time. Jennifer invites a friend she's. known since high school to the apartment. pool. And her roommate shows up to the. apartment pool. So she introduces them. High school friend, meet my roommate. Roommate, meet my high school friend. It. doesn't appear that they like hit it off.

actually thinking responsibly. Which. side is correct? Because usually when. someone tells you their personal. relationship problems, most likely. they're going to present themselves in. the better light. Not Brenda. Not. Brenda. The Dallas police headquarters. is starting to feel like a Brenda. support group meetup. Not that people. are showing up to support Brenda, but. they're coming in to the police about. how they themselves feel victimized by. Brenda. And normally, these would not. warrant official police reports, but. Brenda seems to be one of the strongest.

leads for Kendra's murder, aside from. the fact that she has a pretty airtight. alibi, placing her at a Chili's, but. that's besides the point. Stacy walks in. to the Dallas Police Department. She. worked with Brenda for years at this. dental office where Brenda, she's. studying to be a dental hygienist, would. come in and sterilize equipment. She. would stock the shelves and clean stuff. mainly. She mainly did a lot of cleanup. work. And Brenda was a yapper. She would. yap people's ears off about her. boyfriend Ricky. But Stacy always just. felt like something was weird about that.

relationship. They would be dating one. second with Brenda saying things like, quote, "My boyfriend is a dermatologist. and makes more money than any other. doctor." which is just like kind of a. weird statement and probably not true. Then the next day, I guess her rich. dermatologist boyfriend and her were. would be on a break. And then at some. point, Brenda might have been single. because Stacy reports Brenda slept with. the dentist at their practice once. I. asked her about her boyfriend and she. said that he was a dermatologist and. that they make more money than any other.

doctor. Apparently, he met Brenda. They. had a casual relationship sex once, I. think, which okay, Stacy is technically. Brenda's boss, so I think it sounds like. she's some sort of office manager. You. know, I don't know her official title, but it appears that she's some sort of. office manager. Okay, which David, what are you doing? But besides the. point right now, Stacy says that David. just had this feeling and he confided in. Stacy. It seems that Brenda was um kind. of a little crazy. Like yes, they slept. together once, but like she just had a. little crazy in her. But he still kept. her on the team. She had keys to the. office. Brenda would still come in and.

clean. And one day, Stacy notices. something really weird. Stacy's working. from home and the way the security is. set up on the office computers. If she's. working at her office desktop, she can't. log into her work account from a second. device. It's only one account at a time. for her login. Yeah. Now, if she's. working from home, nobody can be nor. should they be using her work computer. on her device because, again, one login. at a time. But Stacy's working from home. and she realizes she can't log in. because someone's already logged into.

her work account. She feels like it's. Brenda. She even has a whole. conversation with Brenda and is like, "You can't be in my office. Like, you. can't go through my things." Stacy put a. password on her computer and she says, "The look Brenda gave me was very. weird." And that's when I figured out. that she and David had a relationship. and she knew that he and I previously. had a relationship. >> And I had to have a conversation with. her saying, "You know, you can't be in. my office. you can't go through my. things. You can't be on my computer. I. had to put a password on my computer. >> Okay. >> The look that she gave me was very.

weird. And that's when I figured out. that she and had had a relationship and. she knew that he and I had had a. relationship. So, this is like Brenda. slept with David once. >> Now, Brenda's like obsessive over. >> Yeah. David. >> David's ex as well. Yeah. >> After that, she would give me dirty. looks when she would come into the. office and it was just always very weird. for me around her. Eventually, Brenda. stops working for this office, but she. still has keys to the office, which. Stacy said it always bothered her. She. also knew that David, the dentist, was.

lending Brenda money here and there, and. more so as a friend, it seems. Stacy. just tells him she's using you to borrow. money. If you're getting something out. of it, I guess that's one thing. But she. comes here, and I don't like that she. still has a key here. I mean, it just. concerns me from a work standpoint. He. tells Stacy he has been asking for the. key back, but every time Brenda comes to. drop it off, she conveniently forgets. the only thing that she's supposed to. drop off, which is the key. But Stacy is. hopeful that all of this would be in the. past because Brenda informed her that. she would be moving very, very soon.

Exactly one week before Kendra's murder, Brenda announces that she will be moving. to California. >> Same as Ricky. >> Yeah. Stacy tells the investigators that. she feels like she has a good. understanding of personalities like. Brenda because Stacy used to have a. stalker and that stalker ended up taking. his life. Stacy could just feel. something was off with Brenda. And that. feeling was validated when the day. before Kendra's murder on September 1st. Stacy learned that Brenda came to the. dental office after hours. She used.

another employees alarm code to disarm. the alarm and spent exactly 12 minutes. inside. Brenda sends a heated message to. the only person she wants to talk to. right now. The message reads, quote, "Ricky cheated on me. I miss Ricky. I. love Ricky. I miss you. I love you. Are. you mad at me?" It almost sounds like. the type of message that you would send. to the backup on the roster who knows. about your tumultuous relationship. status. But all these desperate text.

messages are going straight to Ricky's. mom. >> What? >> Yeah. Ricky's mom. For a year straight, Ricky's mom would field calls from. Brenda on the regular, where Brenda. would just call her to cry. uncontrollably that Ricky was cheating. on her. So, she was so devastated that. she had to get Ricky back because she. could not survive this, which didn't. even sound like Ricky to Ricky's mom. Ricky's mom had never known him to be a. cheater in a relationship. But Brenda. would cry. Why is he acting like we're.

not together anymore? Quote, "Why is he. on match.com when he has me? Several of. my girlfriends saw him on match.com. pretending to be single. He's cheating. How many young females are in residency. with him? Do you know? Ricky's mom. didn't even know during the initial call. that Ricky and Brenda had already broken. up. >> The whole year that she didn't know. >> Yeah. >> What? >> Ricky was not cheating. He was just. moving on after the breakup. But every. time Brenda would call Ricky's mom, Brenda made it sound like they were. still together and he was cheating on.

And Ricky's. mom does pray. She's so sweet. She does. in fact pray for Brenda. She prays that. Brenda find a kind, loving partner in. her life, though it probably most likely. will not be Ricky. Ricky's mom lightly. suggests, "If it's that bad, maybe you. guys could try couples counseling. Or. perhaps you should try individual.

counseling. Yeah. No, Brenda is not even. remotely interested. She says that he's. contacting girls to go on dates. So, only prayer can fix this, not. counseling, which just to clarify, I. don't think Ricky's mom knew the extent. of their relationship while it was. happening, but I don't think that she. thought they were ever meant for each. other. Ricky's mom later tells the. investigators, "From the very first date. that Brenda had with Ricky, she found a. way to insert herself into his life, even though he didn't really ask for it. Ricky would tell her he has his own way. of doing things. He likes his routine.

She bulldozed in and just started. cooking, doing dishes, doing his. laundry, cleaning his house for him. He. never asked her to do any of it. That. led to her leaving a toothbrush, then. clothes. And eventually, she stops being. slick about it and just brings her. entire dresser, like the furniture, into. the apartment. If Ricky's mom was. occupied and couldn't respond to a text. or call, Brenda would freak out. Did. Ricky tell you not to talk to me? Are. you mad at me? Some of Brenda's text. messages to Ricky's mom read, "Have you. talked to Ricky? Does he say anything.

about me? Have you he talked to his. sister? Tell her to tell Ricky that he. should get back together with me. Does. Ricky's dad know that we broke up? Maybe. he can talk some sense into Ricky. I. miss Ricky. I love Ricky and I miss you. and I love you. Are you mad at me? I. can't stop crying. I'm devastated. I. can't live without Ricky. Ricky is my. whole life. I'm broken. I can't sleep. I'm depressed. I have panic attacks. I. can't stand to think about Ricky with. other girls. I can't concentrate on. studying because all I do is think about. wanting Ricky and I cry. Brenda calls Ricky's mom and wishes her.

a happy Mother's Day, but also reminds. Ricky's mom to tell Ricky that she did. that. But one of the strangest moments. Ricky's mom remembers is Brenda crying. to her on the phone, saying, quote, "I. love him so much and he doesn't even. care about me." In one month alone, Brenda texted Ricky's mom 114 times. That's not including the phone calls. Weirdly, Brenda even informed Ricky's. mom that she lied to Ricky that she was. seeing other people, but that's not true. because she only wants him. She shares. the story of how when she was leaving.

Ricky's after they broke up, two men had. attacked her. She was at a stop sign and. these two scary men tried to get in the. car with her. She pedled to the metal. and barely escaped whatever they had. planned for her. She told Ricky about it. and he was very concerned and worried. about her even after the breakup. So, while she's crying and telling this. to Ricky's mom, she suddenly stops and. in a very agitated, fou and loud tone of. voice, she tells Ricky's mom. Ricky's. mom is Patricia, by the way. She tells. Patricia, "Mama Pat, I just can't.

believe it. Ricky broke up with me. again. He says it's for good now. He's. such a liar. He just got back together. with me, but he knew that he was just. going to use me and throw me away. He. used me until someone better came along. and now I'm broken all over again and. I'm hurt. He already got a new. girlfriend. How could he do this to me? I am so broken, but now I'm I'm showing. him. He will be the one that's hurting. I can tell every person I see in school. and clinic that Ricky did me dirty. I. tell everyone I talk to how bad he. treated me. How he tricked me by saying. that we were together again, but then he. just threw me away and I'm so. devastated. Ricky's mom asked Brenda,

"So, are you saying that you say this to. all your classmates and co-workers, the. people that you work with?" Yes. Everyone in the clinic. I even tell my. patients, every single one of them. You. tell your patients that Ricky, did you. derby? Brenda is getting more and more. agitated, not even realizing how crazy. this all sounds. She just screams at. Patricia. Yes, I tell my patients. I. tell everyone I see. I want to ruin his. reputation. Everyone thinks he's so. good, but I want them to know how bad he. treated me. Don't you agree, Mama Pat?

Don't you? He did me so dirty, so now. he's going to suffer like I am. Patricia. responds, "Brenda, that's my son you're. talking about. It's unprofessional to tell anyone, especially your patients, anything about. Ricky. That is wrong. You need to think. about that and stop doing that. I don't. want to hear from you unless you stop. talking about Ricky to other people that. way. With that, their phone call ends. But their communications wouldn't. because Brenda will just keep coming.

back. Coming back to tell Ricky's mom. that she texted Ricky hi and he. responded, which made her heart melt. So, Brenda, uh, Patricia is seeing how. crazy Brenda is. Does Ricky know this. side of Brenda or is it just the mom? >> Just Ricky's mom. >> Ricky's mom thought that she could try. to calm Brenda down. >> She thought that she could try to help. Brenda in the process of getting over. the relationship because in between. these phone calls, you know, she would.

try to encourage her to go out and meet. new people. Mhm. So she she thought. Brenda just crashing out from a breakup. Got it. >> And so at one point, Brenda sends Ricky. mom just a string of crying emojis and. sad face emojis. And in response, Patricia sends her the lyrics to the. song I will survive. And told Brenda. that she will indeed survive. And it's. just she says, "I thought that I would. be able to get her to leave him alone. and help her get her to a point that she. could move on with her life." So out of. the goodness of her heart, bless.

Patricia. She tries to help Brenda, softly encouraging her to go out there, move on. Like, what do you even need a. man for? And also, is my son really all. that? Probably not. You probably could. find better. She's probably just saying. it, but still. And it appears her hard. work was not in vain. Brenda informs her. that she did start taking up workout. classes. Oh, yeah. What kind? Salsa. Salsa. like salsa dance lessons. that her son Ricky had just started. taking at the same exact studio.

So, the mom knew this? >> Yes. >> So, what was her reaction when she found. out that Brenda just started going to. the same class? >> Brenda made it seem like it was a. coincidence. >> and Patricia believed that? >> No, but Ricky also thought it was a. coincidence. It was very hard to say. anything otherwise, you know. >> Then one day, Brenda tells Ricky's mom. that she's getting married to Ricky. But don't tell anyone. Not even Ricky. But Brenda is so happy that Patricia is. going to be her brother-in-law soon.

So, first. it's the I was kidnapped just to be a. getaway driver. Then, okay, fine. I was.

kidnapped at the stop sign, and all of. that centers around her kidnapper, who. she somehow managed to learn his name in. this short little ride that she had with. him. His name is Lamar. How does she. know his name? I don't know. Maybe they. were doing some ice breakers in the car. mid kidnapping. Eventually, Detective. Barnes manages to break down this little. Jenga tower of lies until she admits, "Okay, fine. I was hired. I was hired. for the job." So was Lamar. We were. hired by Brenda. The plan was we weren't.

going to kill Kendra. We were just going. to rob Kendra. Brenda reassured Crystal. that all she had to do was drive into. the parking lot and Lamar was going to. take Kendra's purse, but he ended up. killing her. I thought she'd say that. they were trying to kill Ricky to begin. with. >> Yeah, but then they changed it to just. robbing Kendra. >> Oh, so Ricky was one of the stories. Now. they're the new version is robbing. Brenda. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Now, Crystal mentions a detail the. detectives pick up on. And apparently. whenever Brenda would talk about Ricky,

she would only refer to him as X. Crystal says Brenda hired her, saying, "Yeah, X has a girlfriend. I'll pay $500. to take the girlfriend's purse. Her name. is Kendra. Crystal hesitated and she tells. Detective Barnes. I was like, "Well, I. don't want to do that because I have a. kid." Brenda was like, "Fine, we'll pay. a guy to come and take her purse and you. just drive.". >> I said, "Okay." And then I was like, "Well, I don't want to do that cuz I. have a kid." She was like, "Well, we'll. pay a guy to come in and take her purse.

and then we'll go from there." That was. it. >> Crystal is staring Detective Barn's dead. pan. Like just staring at him as if this. totally makes sense. Okay. So, Brenda. wants to pay you $500 to steal Kendra's. purse. But you don't want to steal her. purse. So, she's still going to pay you. $500 and then hire another guy to do. what she was going to pay you in the. first place. Detective Barnes is. rightfully confused, but Crystal. clarifies, "Well, Brenda gave her $100. upfront before any of the robbing was. done so that she could go out and find. the robber to do the robbing. She's like.

a professional head hunter." Yeah, put. that in Crystal's LinkedIn. Okay. Detective Barnes asked. So she gave you. $100 to go right around Oakliff to find. some guy to do a robbery. Yep. So you. let some guy that you don't know that is. willing to do a robbery and you got your. baby in the back seat. Yeah, I know. I. feel like a bad person. >> So you let some guy that you don't know. is willing to go do a robbery and then. you got your baby in the back seat. >> Yeah, I know. I feel like a bad person. >> Well, just don't feel Crystal. You.

probably are. Okay. Crystal really. should be hired as a professional head. hunter for corporations because she. finds the perfect candidate. She further. states that this random guy that she. approached on the street, Lamar, was. going to pull off this robbery right. away. He just so happened to have a mask. on him. Like a COVID mask. No. Crystal. describes it as it was a white and black. one. Like a skull, like a full. Halloween. >> Yeah. Detective Barnes is flabbergasted, but he doesn't show it. When you picked.

him up, he already had his mask. No. Yeah, he did. That was crazy. That was. crazy. No, I know you don't believe it. Nobody does. Finally, she's like right. about something, I guess. But it gets. worse. Lamar pulls out this random skull. mask, gets in the car, whips out a pair. of gloves that he also had, like the. medical gloves, you know, starts putting. them on. He put the gloves on when he's. in the car. You didn't ask him why is he. putting gloves on? No. I thought maybe. he didn't want to get caught stealing. her purse. Honestly, I didn't think.

Yeah, I didn't think might be the thesis. statement for Crystal's entire. interrogation. Like, at no point was she. ever thinking, even during the. conception of this crime, realizing how. bad all of this sounds, Crystal starts. defending herself. She tells Detective. Barnes that even though what she did was. wrong, she did everything she could to. get caught. She wanted to get caught. She She was very intentional about it. She says, "I wanted someone to see me, so I drove in front of all the CCTV. cameras. I didn't want nobody to not see. me. I purposefully parked there." She's. just like making up stuff as she goes.

>> Yes. And she is not bright. >> is the best way I can put it. >> Got it. So, no no no afterthoughts, no. reasonings, just. >> just making up stuff as she goes. >> And I don't say this as an insult to. make it like a hehaha moment because. there is no such thing as a heha moment. in any case. But it's like if you were. to put evil people, just really dumb. evil people into a room and have them. concoct a murder plan. This is what they.

came up with. But the terrifying part is. it was to some degree effective. They. killed someone. >> So, it's just very scary to see that. like you don't even need to have any. sort of brains. You just need to be. evil. And they're they're evil. Ultimately, Crystal makes it out as, "Yes, I was there. Yes, I was. participating, but I wanted to get. caught because I didn't really want to. do this, even though I was going to get. paid $500 for it." But everything falls. apart for Crystal, you know. So, she.

says when she stops the car, Lamar gets. out and she hears a woman say, "No, no, no." And she hears Lamar saying, "Shut. up. I'll kill you." Then a gunshot goes. off. Crystal says he gets back into the. car, has Kendra's purse, and also has a. gun on him. She said she never knew that. was part of the plan. Why a gun? He. shoots her. Crystal tells the detective. that she starts freaking out at this. point, calling Brenda, telling her that. they didn't just rob Kendra, they shot. her. She says Brenda is also freaking.

out, saying, "What? What?" over the. phone. One of the first things. detectives find in Crystal's phone, because yeah, they're going to go. through her phone. One of the first. things they find are pictures from the. very next day, September 3rd. So, this. is the day after killing Kendra. It's. nudes. Crystal's just out here taking. nudes the day after Kendra's murdered, not even 24 hours later in Brenda's. bedroom. >> Wait, hold on. Is Brenda there, too? >> No, but she's taking nudes 24 hours. So,

she's saying we were never going to kill. Kendra. >> Wait, is Crystal and Brenda like are. they together? >> No. No, she's probably sending it to. someone else. >> But she's sleeping over at Brenda's. >> or she was there for a day or hanging. out. Who knows. >> what? Yeah. >> Okay. >> But this is shocking to detectives. because Crystal is trying to argue that. she didn't know that they were going to. kill Kendra. And if they killed Kendra. and she truly didn't know, I mean, probably she should go to the police for. sure, but she should also be spiraling.

But instead, less than 24 hours, she's. still hanging out with Brenda and she's. taking nudes. Like, it's just the sheer. lack of care. There's no thought. There's nothing. They also find messages. between Crystal and who the police. assume to be the shooter. And it is not. Lamar. It's a man named Love. Christopher Love. Christopher Love. >> So, who is Lamar? >> Lamar is a random name she made up. >> He doesn't even exist. >> But Christopher Love is the guy.

>> is the shooter. >> Christopher Love is a man of contrast. He really likes to go by the nickname. love, but he also has a back tattoo of. an AK-47 and the words one man army. tattooed on top of it, which I'm not. saying that you can't love. And it's an. AK-47, though, okay? Like, that's. unnecessary. Christopher mentions at. some point in the interview with. Detective Barnes that his looks probably. don't help him in this case. So, he's. sitting in the interrogation room with. Barnes and. >> How did they find Christopher Love? >> Oh, it was so easy. He already had a.

warrant out for his arrest for something. else. >> Oh, okay. And they just look up his. name. They look up his. >> Christopher gave gave up the name. >> Yeah. Or Crystal did. Yes. >> Crystal did. Okay. >> So, they got him in the interrogation. room and he's like, "Look, I got gold. teeth and tattoos and dress like a drug. dealer." Like, be serious. Detective. Barnes did not bring him in just because. he has tattoos and self-admittedly seems. to look like a drug dealer. He brought. him in because in his car, they also. find a gun. The gun that was used to. kill Kendra. So, by the time authorities. get to Christopher, it's been a month.

since Kendra's murder. and he's just. kept the murder weapon in his car for. the past month. When they confront. Christopher with this information, that's when he starts getting detectives. barn something, he says it was just a. hit job. He was hired. Hired by who? The. cartels. He says he was promised an ounce of. cocaine and probably a quarter pound of. weed. To give you an idea of how much. that is and this is not from my personal. knowledge because I dabble in other. forms of addiction like just spiraling.

everlasting negative selft talk but. apparently quarter pound of weed is. enough to supply a good time to a few. hundred people at a party. a few hundred. people who are very light smokers or if. they're all heavy smokers about a. hundred of your closest frequent weed. smokers at a party is about a quarter. pound or approximately four whiz. khalifas so either close to a thousand. people 100 people or four whiz khalifas. and if you really want to get technical. with it okay whiz khalifa said on Jimmy.

Kimmel that he smokes about 30 joints a. day which is about an ounce of weed so 4. ounces which is a/4 pound is enough to. last him 4 days. So, yes, four whiz with. Khalifas. >> Damn. Okay. I don't I I I can't tell if. this is a lot or this is not a lot. >> I can't tell you either. Yeah. >> And on top of his 5 o of drugs, which. reportedly has a value for the 1 oz of. cocaine, it's about $1,100. About $800 for the quarter pound of. weed, and a bit of cash to seal the.

deal, reportedly around $3,000. So, for a little less than $5,000, Christopher Love was going to kill. Kendra. But he's not short-sighted. He. said, "I'm not doing this for $5,000. He's doing this for the cartels.". He was approached by like a big boss in. the cartel business. By all. descriptions, she fits Brenda. And uh. the translator was Crystal. And they. were telling him that if he pulls off. this hit job, they're going to get him a. lifetime supply of weed from the cartels.

in Mexico. He is about to become the. biggest dealer north of the border. Which cartel? We don't even know. He. wasn't even given a name. I don't know. if he even asked. >> He was approached by Brenda and Crystal. >> Yes. And they put up this whole thing. where Brenda only knew how to speak. Spanish because she's a cartel lady. >> and Crystal is translating and. Christopher Love is like, "You know. what? I'm going to work for the cartel.". Which cartel? We don't know. That seems.

like a good question. I mean, the. cartels are at war with each other in. Mexico, and we're just not even going to. care which one it is. That's like. saying, "I've been hired by the mafia. Which one? Who?" But he knew this was a. good deal, so he took it. Crystal can. barely string together a coherent story. in her police interview, but we're. supposed to believe that she's somehow. involved in this massive cartel that. operates across borders, dominating. North America. Detective Barnes does not. say that outright. what he says it's.

much more intense. He tells Christopher. >> this there is no cartel tied in this. There is no cartel. If this young lady. was tied to a cartel, she wouldn't have. to come get a shooter from the hood. >> No lifetime supply of weed, no cartel, no drug lord empire. All Christopher. Love is going to get is a lifetime. supply of being behind bars. When you. win the lottery, depending on the state. you're in, there may be open record laws.

that basically give the public access to. your information, your name, your city, so on. There have been so many cases, some of that we've covered before, where. this ends very badly. One way to get. around this though, and to guarantee. almost full anonymity when cashing in on. a reward is the FBI 10 most wanted. fugitives list. Before you start. scrolling on FBI.gov in hopes of making. a quick buck, I will say anonymity is. not fully guaranteed. It's just. typically done for safety's sake. If.

someone calls in a tip and receives a. reward, the FBI will not release their. information. And don't get me wrong, you. probably have a higher chance of winning. the lottery than becoming a tipster that. leads to the arrest of a fugitive on the. FBI's top 10 most wanted list, which. despite its name, isn't actually a list. of fugitives ranked by most wanted. I. mean, you would think that there would. be the most wanted, like number one, number two, number three. The most. wanted would be the highest reward, the. most dangerous, biggest threat, highest. kill count, just some sort of metric. However, the FBI has actually clarified.

that everyone on the list is the same. rank. They are all the most wanted. They. want them equally. They are all the. highest priority. And I mean, I have no. idea, but the FBI probably did this. purposefully. That would have to be my. guess because fugitives on the run are. just naturally going to be a bit. competitive. So maybe they're trying to. discourage any of that. They made every. rank and made everyone equal. The list. is limited to 10 fugitives at a time. with a total of 541 fugitives listed. over the years. Some of them have been.

located, some of them have been caught, some are dead by now, but almost all of. them are men. Unsurprisingly, only 13. have been women. 13. >> Wow. >> Including this case's very own Brenda. Delgado. Tiny wrist Brenda is on the. run. There are three different pictures. of Brenda included along with her. description that lists her occupation as. dental hygiene student. Under details, it says, "Brenda Delgato is wanted for.

capital murder in Dallas, Texas. On. September 2nd, a prominent 35-year-old. dentist was shot to death in the parking. garage of her apartment complex. Delgato. allegedly orchestrated the murder for. higher plot. It is believed she was. jealous because the victim was dating. Delgato's ex-boyfriend and had recently. been introduced to his parents. reward. $100,000 for information leading. directly to the arrest of Brenda. Delgado. And right under that, it says. in all caps, should be considered armed. and dangerous. 6 months after the murder. of Kendra, Brenda is added to the FBI's.

most wanted list. She's added onto the. list with people like terrorist, El. Chapo, just it's a pretty insane list. And just to give you an idea, it's a. quite effective list. About 92% of. people on that list do in fact get. caught. It's just a matter of when. Some. of them have been caught within 72 hours. of making the list. Others have made it. 32 years before they're caught. >> Damn. >> Brenda Eager Beaver gets caught within 2.

days of being on the list. 2 days. She. was captured by Mexican federal agents. in Mexico. She's plucked out of her. hiding spot in this tiny town. It had. about 750,000 people. And I have no idea. if anyone received the tip money. There. were rumors that her family had known. that she was there and they were sending. her money, but I don't know if a family. member had turned her in or a family. friend or someone who knew. Her capture. is fast, but it gets very complicated. Brenda is a dual citizen. She's wanted. for a capital murder arrest warrant in.

Texas. Mexico has some negotiating to. do. Mexico is very much against the. death penalty. Texas, as you know, is. very much pro death. It's one of the. last few states that still regularly. issues death sentences. She is only. extradited 6 months after heavy. negotiations where ultimately the Texas. prosecutor concedes and agrees not to. seek the death penalty in her case. >> 6 months later after the murder, she was. added to the list. >> Yes. >> And then she was caught in two days. >> Yes.

>> And then took another 6 month. >> to extradite her back to Texas. >> Oh wow. Okay. Brenda touches down in. Dallas and Detective Barnes is the first. face that greets her. He says, "Even. though I didn't get a chance to. interview her again, in my mind, I was. like, I told you I was going to get. you." She is in Texas custody, but now. the state has a burden to prove beyond a. reasonable doubt that Brenda. orchestrated this murder. And there is a. big problem, which is her alibi. Her. damn three chilies, chilias, and fried. pickles. The prosecution now have the.

burden of convincing a jury. You have to. convict Brenda for a murder that she. clearly has an alibi for. A. significantly harder case to prove. It's. not uncommon, but it is a little more. rare. The prosecution in Brenda's case, they need to get Crystal against her, and Detective Barnes knew exactly how to. get Crystal to agree, which is using. Crystal's son. Crystal is basically. presented with a choice. either she goes. away for capital murder and gets a life. sentence without parole or she can. testify against Christopher and Brenda. in exchange for a guilty plea and a.

sentence of 35 years max and 17 years. minimum before the possibility of. parole. So to Crystal, it's more of like. would you rather never hug your son. again in this lifetime or see him in as. little as 17 years and at most 35? It's. a choice and it's when it comes to her. son, it's a pretty easy choice. Crystal. agrees to be the prosecution's star. witness. And this is the testimony that. pretty much seals the deal for. Christopher and Brenda's trial. This is. a decision that I think Kendra's family, at least to some degree, was okay with.

at Crystal sentencing. Kendra's brother. even looks at Crystal and says, >> "Thank you for actually looking at me in. the in the eye. The other two days did. not have enough balls to do that.". >> Bonnie, Kendra's mom, says something a. bit unexpected. >> It really breaks my heart through you. It really does. >> I don't know. I just kind of have this I. feel sorry for you thing. I don't know. why. And thanks for being truthful. >> It doesn't feel like forgiveness, per. se. Kendra's family have made it clear.

that when Crystal is up for parole, they. will be there. And this is not to. Crystal's credit, but at least compared. to Christopher and Brenda, Crystal does. look Kendra's family in the eye. And she. did tell the truth of what happened that. night, the night that Kendra is killed, which is exactly what the night before. Kendra is killed, September 1st. So the. day before, Brenda and Crystal are. driving around North Dallas and they. find a random car. They steal the. temporary license plate off the car. So. you know how you when you buy a car at. the dealership, it has a temporary plate. cuz yours is coming in the mail.

September 2nd, the next. morning, the day of the murder, Crystal. starts her day by taking her. six-year-old son through the school drop. off line, meets up with Brenda. The two. of them go pick up Christopher Love, and. they all eat breakfast at Jack in the. Box. Then Brenda and Crystal drop off. the BMW with Jose and ask to borrow his.

Jeep, which side note, the BMW isn't. even theirs. They borrowed it from. Brenda's friend. And had the BMW been. working, that was going to be the. getaway car, not the Jeep. But trying to. be quick on her feet, Brenda takes it to. Jose and he lends her his Jeep in. return. Crystal then drops Brenda off at. a public library where Brenda is. supposed to be studying with a classmate. for her state dental hygiene. certification exam. Crystal goes back, picks up Christopher Love. The two of. them park across the street from Smile. Zone, and they just sit there watching.

and waiting for hours until in the. middle of this stake out for a contract. killing. It hits 2:30 in the afternoon. She's got to go pick up her kid. So, they just like leave. She drops. Christopher Love back off at home, then. picks up her kid, then drops the kid off. at grandma's, and then picks Christopher. Love back up. They go back to Smile Zone. and they start stalking Kendra all the. way back to her parking lot where. Christopher gets out and shoots Kendra. dead as she steps out of her car.

According to Crystal, when he got back. in the car, he didn't seem phased. He. just said, quote, "That was being. stubborn." They drive to an abandoned. house in Pleasant Grove, but there was. another car there. So, they drive back. to Crystal's grandma's place and they. start burning some evidence like. Christopher's gloves, the temporary. plate. They rub the fingerprints off the. Jeep and steering wheel. And meanwhile, Brenda is sitting at Chili's ordering. chilas with Jose who is wondering where. the hell is his Jeep because it's not in.

the parking lot. And eventually, Crystal. and Brenda meet back up to do a swap of. the cars. And the second Crystal pulls. up, Brenda reaches into the Jeep, grabs. Kendra's Coach purse, and slings it over. her own shoulder. >> Crazy. This is the same night. >> Yeah. There are two photos on Crystal's. phone from the next day. The first one. is um well, there was there were nudes, but two other photos of interest was the. first one is cash. It's folded into the.

shape of a heart. So that's the payment. that Crystal got for killing Kendra and. she folded it into a heart and took a. Pinterestesque photo of it. >> How much? >> It was just like a It's a I mean she was. paid $500 total. Yeah. Then there's a. second photo, a selfie of Crystal. smiling into the camera and Brenda is. driving in sunglasses. And that photo. was taken the day after the murder. So. they just I mean they don't really care. The detectives even showed Crystal the.

photo, saying, "It made you feel good. this woman was killed." Right? You're. smiling because you're proud of yourself. in that picture. >> I'm not proud of myself. >> That's That's a selfie. >> Wow. >> And this was a plot that was in the. making for a while before Brenda got. Crystal and Christopher Love to agree to. this. She had allegedly tried to recruit. other people into trying to either harm. Ricky or to kill Kendra. It just seemed. like after the breakup, she was in this. obsessive phase where she had access to. everything. She knew what was going on. in Kendra and Ricky's relationship from.

the get-go. She was watching their text. messages. She had his email account, so. she knew that they were going to Cancun. the very next day because the flight. purchases were in there. She knew when. they traveled to New York. She knew when. they traveled to go meet Ricky's. parents. She pretty much knew. everything. She even had his location. She would screenshot messages between. them and save them onto her phone. She. had pictures from their trips together. She even had a saved picture of Kendra. where she's wearing the I'm with.

McDreamie sweatshirt. >> What's McDreamie? >> The Grey's Anatomy. Remember McDreamie? >> Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Right. Right. Right. Okay. Okay. >> Yeah. Ricky's mom never told Ricky about. how much Brenda was saying to her in. private. But another huge element is. Ricky's parents are divorced and they. have always been really close friends. So his biological mom and dad are.

divorced, but they're always like. hanging out and they're friendly and. they have new partners, but they get. along. So it just set this example that. you can still be friends after breaking. up because it just means that you. weren't meant to be together. romantically. It doesn't mean that you. don't get along and have common. interests and are platonic. And if you. go through text messages between him and. Brenda, which the police did, there is. no suggestion. There's no like, "Oh, is. he flirting? Oh, maybe he wants to get. back together. Oh, maybe this could be. interpreted this way." He is super. professional in all the messages.

afterwards. He He's setting pretty firm. boundaries. Even if he does keep running. into Brenda more and more frequently, to. him, it's all a coincidence. like her. coincidentally taking the same salsa. dancing classes that he's taking, even. offering to practice with him after. class. Ricky doesn't know it, but Brenda is staging every little runin. because she's obsessively tracking him. >> She in turn starts obsessively tracking. Kendra. Kendra is the opposite of.

Brenda. She is not just the new. girlfriend. And I really don't like to. compare women together, but I do think. that this is kind of relevant in this. case. She is an upgrade in every sense. of the word to Brenda. And it's very. clear that upset her. Brenda grew up in. a rough neighborhood. Kendra grew up in. a very stable small town. She was. captain of her cheer team in high. school, received multiple honors. scholarships, went all the way to dental. school, graduated, became a pediatric. dentist, even traveled to South America.

So, ever since the. beginning, she didn't have a job cuz. she's studying and she would work at the.

dental office here and there cleaning, but it wasn't good pay. She moved in. with him pretty instantly or tried to at. least and then did all the cooking and. cleaning and just was it almost seemed. like Brenda was trying to find a way for. him to become dependent on her to need. her but in reality she needed him a lot. more than he ever needed her. He didn't. even ask her to do these things. He. actually honestly seemed to like his own. routine rather than Brenda's routine. that she would force onto him. And then. every time they would break up because. this is just not what what Ricky wants,

Brenda would go to her friends and rant. He is a dog. No, he's worse than a dog. because a dog at least has feelings and. he has no feelings. Yeah. She also did. become pregnant with Ricky's child at. one point, which they both decided to. terminate, but to some who knew them. said it felt like Brenda held it over. Ricky's head. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Of course. >> Yeah. And they said that, you know, she's very manipulative. She lies a lot. I mean, she lies like there's no. tomorrow. And like I understand that.

maybe I think that there can definitely. be negative feelings from Brenda to. Ricky because she maybe she didn't agree. to terminate or she felt pressured into. terminating this pregnancy. But it does. seem that Ricky tried everything to be. right about this relationship. Even at. the time that this murder takes place, Renda is not paying for her own phone. bill or her phone. Like Rick is still. paying for it. Ricky even after their. breakup, he paid her so that she could.

move out. >> because she didn't have money to get her. own place, >> right? >> So, it's not like he left her high and. dry and then cut it off coldly and was. like, "Oh, well, now you terminated the. pregnancy. I don't care. Like, I just I. don't want to be stuck with you.". There's a lot of evidence that he kept. trying to do right by Brenda. >> So, what is Brenda's whole plan? It. seems like in the beginning once they. break up he is dating other people and. she hates it. She hates it. Okay. But it.

seems that she still believes that if. she keeps doing these coincidental. run-ins he's going to fall back in love. with her and they're going to get. married. >> She's going to move to California. They're going to fall in love. Get. married. But once she realizes how in. deep he is with Kendra, planning to. marry Kendra and seeing Kendra and the. way that Kendra is where. >> Yeah. And Kendra was making plans to. move out to California with Ricky. So I. think she knew there was no chance no. matter how many times she facilitated a.

stalkerish coincidental runin, he wasn't. going to leave Kendra for her. By every. sense of the meaning, Kendra was way. better than Brenda. And a lot of that. has to do with Brenda is just straight. evil and Kendra is like the opposite of. that. >> So she plotted this murder for hire and. they didn't plan what was the. >> thought because of the Chile's receipt. She has an airtight alibi and I'm sure. she felt proud of herself because the. day that Kendra was killed, Ricky did. text her in distraught.

>> So maybe she thought that she could be. the shoulder that he leans on and that. would bring them together. And that. seems to be a thing. Ricky's mom. remembers on one occasion Brenda called. her and she's like, "Hello." Brenda. starts telling Ricky's mom about how she. just got rearended, got into this. horrendous car crash where now she has. whiplash. It was so bad. She was in the. hospital, but she didn't want to call. any family or friends because she didn't. want a single soul to worry about her. And she's just being strong, but she's. so lonely. Ricky's mom is like, "I will. call your parents." Like, she's like,

"They're at work. Well, this is an. emergency, and any employer would. understand them leaving." And she's. like, "No, don't bother. they already. have enough problems. It's such a big. traumatic life event that Brenda. completely forgets about the next day. She never brings up this car crash ever. again. She also brings up all her. stalkerish tendencies, but she tries to. make it seem like a coincidence. There. was another time she told Ricky's mom. that she walked into a restaurant and. happened to see Ricky on a date. And you. know what? Quote, "The girl was a very. dark African-Amean who is not cute at.

all.". >> Telling the mom. >> Yeah. So, she's a racist stalker. Okay, great. Also, Brenda's mom had her own. cleaning business and she was still. working with Ricky even after Brenda and. Ricky broke up, which Ricky's mom did. not like. But nevertheless, one day. Brenda gets a text from her mom and it's. a picture of Ricky and Kendra, which I. get wanting to fill your family members. in on these types of things and keeping. them in the loop. But I think it. definitely fueled more fire in Brenda. >> Mhm. >> Crystal agrees to be the star witness in. Brenda and Christopher Lo's trial. She.

pleads guilty, so she doesn't have her. own trial. Christopher, unlike Crystal, recantss the confession and just pleads. not guilty, denying that he was the. shooter altogether. But unlike Brenda, Christopher doesn't have an ironclad. alibi, and the gun was found in his car. by a dog, a K-9 dog by the name of. Titan, who they bring to the stand. Actually, the dog doesn't testify. His. handler testifies, but the dog is there. >> My partner's name is K9 Titan, T I T- N, and he's 7 and 1/2 years old. His trial.

goes first, and honestly, his trial. isn't remarkable except for the fact. that he's found guilty and gets the. death penalty. The jury deliberates for. 2 hours. Crystal was the star witness. She plead guilty. Brenda and Christopher. were both supposed to get the death. penalty. >> cuz it was a capital warrant, right? But. Brenda, because of the negotiations with. Mexico and the extradition, death. penalty was off the table. But it was. not for Christopher.

>> Wow. Is he on death row currently or? >> Yes. >> Now at sentencing, Kendra's family. members take the stand to deliver their. impact statements. Kendra's little. brother rips into Christopher and says, "You introduce me to new feelings of abs. absolute hatred and disgust, things I. never thought I could feel before." Your. hate and idi only underscores your. ability to possess the true the true. evil that resides within you. You are. ashamed of humanity and you are a. destroyer of lives.

does make eye contact once with Ricky. when he's testifying. >> Like what what is it? He she had her. head down the whole time. >> Yeah. or staring blankly at the table. But when he is asked to identify the. defendant, she looks up at him. Yeah. Brenda's trial wraps in a week, and just. like her record-breaking rank as the. ninth woman ever on FBI's most wanted. list, Brenda breaks another record for. one of the fastest jury deliberations in. Texas history. her defense attorney says. >> uh cuz this this is not a case where.

you're going to acquit somebody in 18. minutes. >> cuz usually fast deliberations only mean. one thing. There was not a chance. suggestion hint or a whiff of a quiddle. nullification in the room like there was. no none of that. And this is according. to one juror who was interviewed later. He said that when the jury went back to. begin deliberations, one of them was. like, "Hey, why don't we just start with. the sample vote, right? And then see. like what we can argue and discuss after. the sample vote, they write their sample. vote and they read it out loud." All of.

And then eventually near the 17 minutes, they were like, well, if you guys are. ready, I guess we can all press the. button to signal we're done. So, I don't.

even think it lasted 18 minutes. It. probably lasted like 5 minutes. And then. they just were so shocked by they didn't. have any arguments or discussions. So, they were like, >> "Well, how much longer should we sit. here?". >> That's crazy. You were saying this was. the fastest record. >> One of the fastest. Yeah. Probably would. have been faster if they just hit the. button before prayer and meditation, but. I think they were so taken back that. they were like, I feel like no one will. believe us if we leave this room so. quick. >> Brenda's lawyer brought this up because. because it makes her look more guilty.

Why Why is he commenting on that? >> I think it's, you know, after the case. is wrapped, people are asking like, "What did you think about the jury. deliberations?" And he's pretty honest. of like, well, you know, it was 18. minutes. >> Oh, okay. I kind of had an idea of what. we're walking back into. >> I see. >> So, they had their answer and Brenda. Delgado is found guilty of capital. murder. Death penalty is off the table. So, Brenda is sentenced to the next. closest thing, which is life. imprisonment without parole.
