Buying A New Smartphone or Laptop? Watch This Podcast First ft. Rajiv Makhni | FO 100 - Raj Shamani
you're talking AI we're talking chat GPT. people think it's the greatest. Revolution known to mankind in many many. ways they are 10 years behind does it. replace anything we are doing right now. absolutely does AI have a dystopian. future absolutely for your future. 2024. they started off import report garbage. or sold to India. that's all I'm saying I'm saying it.
blatant and out right enough enough. of that whole reviews as famously called. unboxings. anybody who's doing and I'm saying this. straight out to everybody there is no. knowledge you're giving up. what is it that you're giving me the. announcement will be made very shortly. okay what I'm going to be doing episode. started.

enjoy.
to be. U.S leader software my Hardware my China. leader or we do three countries both our. leaders right. leaders.
actually Innovation leaders as far as I. know or maybe I'm wrong you tell me so. actually interesting a because. actually around five seven years.
we are very skilled in software to write. it for others right we are very skilled. in making Brands by importing products. right there is a lot that is happening. out here. this is not just a political pitch now a.
make in India or Made in India. right uh. I'm not going to take any names out here. foreign.
[Music]. hundreds of features in a phone right. now yes okay. India problems. again I'm not going to take brand names. but I'll give you one of the biggest. uh we're known as a noisy country which.
is great chaotic country fantastic. body problem because we have Chaos on. the streets versus. European silent areas okay when we are. talking on the phone Marketplace. we got all that software all the. technology including the hardware okay.
developed in India today there's not a. phone in the world that doesn't have it. solved in India problem and discovered. globally. we don't give ourselves enough credit. because some local conversation with old. school we are not leaders in this we're. not look at the number of companies. you're actually now from India there are. now wearable companies hearable. companies audio companies that are.
actually in the top three top two Indian. names they started off import report. garbage or sold to India but they didn't. give up by only going with garbage then. government incentivize and we Indians. are very good camera. prophetic. incentive. a lot of people have been able to do it. and. the scale is not great right now it has.
started. interesting. your legacy Brands you know. um the the brands that everybody knows. right. they are now sprinting. to stay in the same place. just to stay not to advance.
so that aspiration to be has a lot of. people I give uh you know uh I talk give. talks and all these educational. institutes a lot. show of hands recently I took names of. some Brands Okay who wants to be. who wants to be the next so and so.
I took Indian Brands three very famous. ones and Legacy Brands three very famous. multinational ones I had about 80 hands. for the Indian ones and only maybe 20. for the Legacy Brands so we are on our. way. are now global players. even though 70 of the market is.
that's the best part how we're giving. them so much sale they're actually. counting themselves globally. they're doing you know India or. countries. and if you do it right I'm not saying if. you do it perfectly if you do it right. the biggest opportunities that you learn. from your mistake and still be able to. stabilize so Legacy Brands printing to.
stay where they are uh non Legacy famous. Indian Brands growing very fast like. um. destabilizers and All aspirational. Brands coming in at the speed of light. if you put this combination together. along with the old school conversation. of Mara skill set. um look we are good with Hardware we are. good with software what we are not good. is in making Brands.
my prediction you will have at least at. least 10 big brands that will finally. make a global play not just by selling. in India but abroad also in the next. five years and this is not something. where I'm just Evo Indian it's not a. hope statement this is something that I. know will happen. if I love Indian Brands will be on the. shelves of us UK China or I don't know. where whichever country 100 China.
absolutely where you can do it without. taking on political regimes. there will be brands that will play. the game will be played out there by. Indian friends. already Indian players are there around. the world. now that you're saying. I hope I'm all for it it's going to.
happen. I'm just following the patterns. because you know and I don't want to do. a cliche with you of India and Bharat. because. that distinction is always. but you Indian Brands understand the. tier 2 tier three and from tier to tier.
three also understand K within that same. portfolio they can have tier one. products also. karna where you can do a great product. at a great price and most importantly. and you know whoever's hearing me out. there right now problem with Indian. Brands. but they completely screw up on the. great service part. problem Indian Brands you you can go to. any of their accounts socially social.
media take take the top three four. Indian brands in the tech space. social media okay we are about to. introduce so and so the next thousand. comments. now that is a great. problems if they falter they will fall. to there. you should consolidate now. they.
should have a little bit of confidence. in what they are making. and service the Indian client. the customer who's making them who they. are foreign. interesting okay before we actually do.
that you speak very well so I want to go. back to your early days. foreign.
that same show right so. 17 years time pay what was the only. question I was asked okay. do you think you'll have enough products.
to fill a weekly show you know. we will have a big problem and that is. exactly what happened. globally. in 2005 there was not even a tech show. on tv anywhere in the world. foreign.
mobile phone has 75 year old has. interest in Tech you can skip us. everybody is their house Gadget Guru.
neighborhood Gadget Guru you know within. the whole Space socially that he is. there's one or two people who are all. gadget gurus. but you know they still are interested. so that instead of this becoming a. you know. PC World and you know that kind of. magazine content. content everybody will be interested. easily these shows became iconic right.
they can I think sometimes when there is. a change over. where you know somebody you work with a. culture. discoveries. I think it is always good okay if the. change is not something that continues. that culture you have to go out and do. it again.
reviews as famously called unboxings. anybody who's doing and I'm saying this. straight out to everybody. they are 10 years behind. technology.
today knowledge wow factor I don't. change your life whether it's in 60. seconds on Instagram or five minutes on. YouTube or 22 minutes on a TV show or. one hour on a radio show right or an. article that you spend. 30 seconds reading or short hair and. long format. if I didn't change your life in either. in 60 seconds yeah 60 Minutes 60 minutes.
then it's useless that you spent even a. second with me. and most important. who is it wrong for right foreign. foreign.
[Music]. okay you didn't know you could do this. with your phone you didn't know you. could do this with your laptop there is. no feeling better.
that changed your life. you're ready. why should you buy it and is it right. for you right. knowledge entertainment wow factor if I. don't leave you with a wow I didn't know. that then I have no right doing. technology anymore. tech reviews are what I call Dabba Cole. [Music]. um. that's all I'm saying and I'm saying it.
blatant and outright enough enough of. that and the reason why is this an. answer to your question is that. to reinvent the entire space of. Technology. and the announcement will be made very. shortly okay what I'm going to be doing. Mira next move. you can't do what you're doing now. and you have to do it with the right. people.
and. those are punch me technology some. people say it was a revolution then it. is going to be more revolutionary now. because up it will touch more people. everybody's in the world. and multiple. foreign.
it's a it's a revolution in itself that. it might change or destroy people's life. Smart Watch May. it has more power than a 2005 laptop. yeah. I am not even talking about the high-end. ones. typical.
run-of-the-mill generic Smart Watch Me. Zada computing power than a 2005 laptop. technology. man you reach that. Beyond which the scale of what happens. jumps. it's not you will never have to be it. we're on that cusp. from now it started last year. in the next nine to ten years.
I hope we do this in five years from now. up recognize. what your life was five years back. can you imagine them look fax machines. or typewriters. you will not recognize your job devices. we are on that incredible Jovi growth.
Technology Innovation it is now going to. be hockey sticks without the curve at. the end Generations.
okay. is the most important okay because we. are Guided by the advertising of. companies are not by our own needs. um. there's no green line it's a huge dark. black tunnel okay telling you.
what you want is not a device what you. need is a device for yourself okay what. you want is a show-off device that is. you know. signaling upgraded especially phones and. most tech today is a show often it's. signaling yeah right it is it's also it. and it's it's and I'm not telling people. because.
you can actually portray your clothes. your phone yours so and so and so this. signals who you are at least in the. first frame of when you actually signal. to people right like in. the great part about technology is. just 12 to 15 months back was a flagship. 80 90 000 rupee phones. you have to put in a lot of effort to do. it literally you have to make major.
mistakes of Personality showing off not. looking at things technology. today I tell people okay you can almost. look at both for you to say yeah. and to be able to buy the perfect device. rather than doing a feature comparison. of everything. right so don't fall for this thing.
right I mean everyone takes pictures on. our phone uh don't fall for the thinking. their little laptop my battery life. but look at how you use the device if. the battery life is very very important. to you are you usually out of area where. you can't plug it in. look at your want and your lifestyle. you'll be able to buy the right two. three. you go through those frustrations. you get seduced by everything else but.
your actual wants. right your need has to be very clearly. sorted out device. because technology has reached that. cradle okay. laptop. you really don't need to replace it for. three years. and I would strongly encourage everybody.
you must be able to understand okay it. should last you otherwise don't give. that company your business. dramatic jump forward that you needed it. yeah. DC better screen incremental is not.
revolutionary. foreign.
take the smartphone out because that is. just oxygen okay. the most productive. device right now which got rediscovered.
in the pandemic was the laptop. it is by far the most product tablet. it's I call tablet you know just uh more. like a you know I also own a tablet. metric there's really no value to it. okay so I'm just I'm just being very. clear okay. requirements.
two in one is great if you like that. form factor but you absolute hard-coded. keyboard. with a hinge laptop that is now the god. device. it is by far the most important. productive device okay. that you actually put off put it into. your to-do list right you either put it.
in your to-do or you put it in your. calendar or you make a small list of. things to do later okay up. what does that show you that the most. critical things that you have to do you. put off till you don't open a laptop. important Jesus we should all recognize. and I keep telling people. fairly good phone.
but don't buy a fairly mediocre to. average laptop. look top of the line smartphone the apps. best. but we compromise and we buy a fairly. average laptop or a fairly average. laptop and very good laptop. fairly average smartphone and a great. smartphone. you will regret a mediocre laptop 10.
times more than a mediocre phone in fact. there are no mediocre phones. foreign. foreign.
again. Business Leaders. he's not doing as less as we are talking. about. a business leader doing a video call on. a phone. doesn't work yeah.
you are doing a lot of critical things. on a laptop. or your processor it is now. less passionate you know I try and. control and rein myself let me not. hyperbole it all right. processor is all that comes because. the laptops are hot Soul muscle brain.
and I'll tell you why okay the smarts of. a laptop. processor will do the Computing but our. processor does everything else also. right o processor decisions. when the laptop is you know it's running. too fast when it's not needed absolutely. all right. cores as we call you know processor has. a lot of code sorry it has the smarts. now to say.
in a millisecond I can have the whole. thing running. foreign.
era from the ground up they are getting. into something. right. but it is also good it is being abused. because at least.
AMD is doing a very interesting thing. move from the ground up now AI into. everything. they are recognizing the future is going. to be here and I'll give you examples of. why it is true away from the again. everybody right now irrespective of who. they are what they are doing up already. yeah.
irrespective of what business you're in. you're first in the business of. Technology. irrespective of who you are and what you. are doing you are using AI. right.
foreign. you know what they used to call it fuzzy. logic.
washing machines. fuzzy logic but the worst term sounds. like a logic. thank God that term died out thank God. AI is what we use right now. but some of the worst terms are used by. uh is because we look up any terms use. and that becomes the term but here is a. good one artificial intelligence sounds. nice dramatic movies.
I was like foreign.
computing. to computing power of a processor your.
graphic power of a processor that has. nothing to do with AI you need a third. core a third engine only for AI because. you will do everything AI eventually. either deliberately or without knowing. it you will use AI and it's good for. people to understand Kettle very. difficult to live a successful coming. back to your term productive life. without AI right.
companies your technology if they. recognize that AI must be looked at. separately okay. it must be able to process it separately. otherwise. still the computing power. they can do AI part here. AI must be able to function in parallel. with everything else not as part of.
everything. or AI must be as good or better than the. rest of the Computing in AMD I think. Comics. light bulb went off somewhere from the. ground up in every part of what they are. doing they are putting in a separate AI. engine. okay7040 and all these others that they. are bringing in. that that literally has an AI engine and.
I'll explain in the shortest simplest of. terms. okay right you spoke about hybrid you. spoke about how does it make you. productive. to be more productive let me tell you. the story behind productivity is AI in. your laptop will take decisions for you. internally for how you use your computer. externally for what you want as. productivity out of the computer and.
already delivered what you eventually. want to send out also so you know. aspects of productivity here the device. you bought to be productive you said is. device code to get that productivity out. and then to deliver the productivity out. to others. or this must play its roles let's start. with productivity. foreign.
a place where you can plug in. environment it is absolutely. understanding where you are how you use. it. if you're working on a spreadsheet and. it knows.
right it will keep the battery running. cooler screen running cooler or the fact. that multi-day laptops on battery is. going to be the future of computing day. yes not multi-r multi-day. Battery Technology. Battery Technology may be the biggest. laggarde in Tech right now.
2003 2004 news. everything has dramatically changed. other than Battery Technology right. slightly denser slightly better. chemicals being used you know we've gone. from nickel KDM to lithium ion but yeah. lithium. not a holy my God we have jumped like. several mountains very small change in.
chemicals right Battery Technology is. not keeping up to the rest of computing. right AI Edge that will be able to help. us right.
which you may or may not come to know. right but it is doing so much inside the. computer a computer. not only just for battery life it aids. the laptop to last many many things. we pop the back of the cover off from. our smartphone or neighbors. it's all integrated inside who's battery. Co keeping it running for three to four.
years is very important. I did it on my Instagram account and I. got some 10 15 million I was like yeah. do you know. 99.999 of the world charges their phone. wrong. your battery.
it's not heating up the phone nothing. uh the part that most people don't. understand is battery charging is a. chemical process.
they are the most unstable because. chemical reactions. you can go to Safe battery charging. or 85 percent. you can double your battery life if you. will stick to this but.
99.99.99. the rest of the world will not change. but AI will do it for you it knows the. battery unstable it will not charge over. charge under charge now imagine that. whole AI is playing a role in every. component inside your laptop so your. laptop is now truly a super computer. okay the AI engine inside is taking care. of the laptop it is actually helping you. to become a better consumer taking care.
you now become a super tech expert with. no Tech expertise right I'll not need to. make so many tips and tricks now. EI is going to be able to do that right. the second is. used the next future is that you don't. need to go out on an internet connection. using the power of cloud computing and. servers and laptops.
will come built into this chip the whole. AI will be right there for you right. foreign. okay most of AI will come built in to. your device hard-coded into it and. constantly learning from you and. everything else your aik updates.
and it'll happen. right that intelligence will be built in. chat GPT. people think it's the greatest. Revolution known to mankind in many many. ways. of what AI will be able to do AI will be. able to do a lot of what you and me are. doing right yeah. both negative and positive when you talk.
about deep fakes right it is AI that is. able to take my Facebook Shahrukh Khan. on me and give me Shahrukh Khan's voice. joji is 10 million dollars special. effects. have every part of what AI will play and. imagine your actual computing. it needs to be localized that is where.
AI will start playing a role in. everybody's life every day every minute. whether you are in the best city with. the best you know 1 gbps internet. connections and fast Broadband or in a. village. foreign. [Music].
foreign.
[Laughter]. thank you. for. banana.
[Music].
foreign.
science fiction movies you know 1984 and. then dystopian future and this takeover. that takeover. he. when. before. your printing press I think. um. handwriting will be completely over. you have you know books will ruin the.
world. it was taken to be the devil's libraries. it was taken to be the devil's device. same questions. do you see where the printing press took. us. today what we are able to do with the. printed word imagine. sorry. plus 100 more categories.
everything is finished different careers. were going to go off right now. because you don't have to remember. anything. we talk about um. but why do you need to remember. someone's number what a useless piece of. information to remember. in the way that you're supposed to use. your brain for Creative output.
you know my mother can remember 25. people's numbers. but I know love your mother but what did. you achieve by that right you were only. replacing one piece of papers. right how can you ever compare one with. the other now let's come down to. right does AI have a dystopian future.
absolutely no two ways about it. does it replace anything we are doing. right now absolutely. why will it not replace every new. technology does but is it something to. be scared of right now anybody that is. born right now right will evolve into a. world education. they will take to it beautifully right. some people that need to be very scared. is those that say okay.
because up. that you'll have to adopt AI into your. world right for instance. people say now creativity will be. totally finished. right first you take a piece of your. writing that the way you write with your. sense of humor your emotion okay. I have this is the passage that I have.
written yeah understand my kind of. writing and just write whatever you like. right prompt me you don't have to be you. know Google you have to be very get the. right keywords right. understand this style of writing and now. write me this. your next prompt should be these are the. things I have not liked in this can you. do it again based on these inputs your. third prompt up. that will be very accurate to what you.
do okay try it out sometime because most. people think it's the first prompt right. and that is where AI is right now okay. let me tell you where creativity will. come. your creativity now will be how good are. you with prompts. right all those people think that the. children that are going to school. their education will be how to extract. the best information available. information available how to ask better.
questions how and that is really the. fundamental existence of humans we how. are we different from any other animal. we have the ability to question. and now we are reaching the stage where. we can question the greatest single. database of knowledge and information. and put it all together customized for. us. don't think of Google search as this. it's a revolution on its own but Bucky.
effort had to assimilate it yeah to. reject what is not needed to go away. from the sponsored part of it and go. down to what matters they can upbeat. your information hey it is the. creativity will come from the prompts. and how you will use it right. all those educationists they think why. don't we homework. the tools to tell you that this has been. generated by AI will be as good as the.
AI. but they will be as good right so. those schools that will tell students. don't use AI we will you know fail you. that would be the saddest thing your. schools will actually be able to bring. in. foreign.
then you'll throw them out into a world. you have everybody else is. they'll have no idea what hits them when. they go into the real world. and that is a very important factor. which every school should understand I. was in a you know like a meeting thief. of all the IG boards and I think 70 of. them were like we have banned it I'm. like okay those are the 70 schools that.
will not do well. you know what do we in what is it till. today that we are not taught in schools. personal finance. that's why all of us are terrible in. investing. money is a taboo topic you know. I hope AI doesn't become another one of. these things. negatively rather than Open Arms. accept it to use the like I said I'm. repeating it because I it I love the. drama of these words that I use the.
single greatest. assimilation of information in one place. customized to you word is. and coming back to again. it is going to be those companies like. AMD that recognize AI K boundary should. not be internet connection. and cloud computing. it should be anytime anywhere.
I can get access to all this amazing. information. database customized to me absolutely. entire thing will come back to you you. can literally have your virtual. assistance. right imagine all of this computing.
power coming right down and that's why I. say laptop is right now the most. productive device and it is going to. continue to be for a very long time with. smartphone being always there. but the next big thing is recognize the. power of the laptop. chances.
and I tell you why okay so Israel make. both common process so commonly country. okay. okay. the whole country. Focus.
questions. if that is something which is. a is actually a superpower not right now. but maybe Innovation is. to question it all it is.
completely differently exactly. right most of the most creative people. are those. other questions. [Music]. you know you've reached where you are. were you one of those irritating. children.
you'll find it almost 100 yeah that I. was that iterating kid I still am I mean. I did the whole show of being an. irritating kid what do you think I mean. you could have called it that. irritating podcast. no question stupid no question is too. stupid stupid okay. I'm not dumb because I ask questions. okay okay I'm done because you don't. understand that.
thank you so much for telling us about. so many things and actually giving me. few bounces at the moment as well but I. hope that everyone who's watching this. takes away few things and start thinking. about AI processors productivity and the. future that we all want to create and we. differ we learn to differentiate between. needs and ones I think that was a. highlight for me. thank you so much for doing this thank. you so much for having me Raj and I I.
think next time. you invite me next time I want to come. back and do a little bit of a quick fire. with you so many questions I have about. what you're doing right now thank you so. much for watching this episode till the. end please like share subscribe and. share it with at least one person. because.
so please share it with one person whom. I really need this episode until the. next episode keep figuring out. right.
