Funny Marco Meets His Childhood Crush Raven-Symone
God, you think like a lesbian, that's. crazy. >> I am a lesbian. >> Technically, [music] you are. >> Yeah. >> Good job. Model to the family. >> I'm in there. Yeah. Then that's why I Okay. All right, so. >> [laughter]. [music]. >> This episode is brought to you by. Sunglass Hut. Hold on a moment. >> How you doing? >> [laughter]. >> I'll take a gift. Thank you. >> I return cuz some people are like, "I'm.
not a hugger." And then. >> [music]. >> I'm like, "Oh." Cuz when you meet like a. woman, I feel like you should like hug. cuz I was at church. >> Problem. No, I'm just playing. >> What? I don't know what to do with you. Cuz you know what I mean? They they be. like. >> [music]. >> Yeah. >> at church. And then at church like older. women like as a young kid, I'm like, "Oh.". >> [music]. >> You know? >> I'm not of the generation where you. can't hug. The generation now is like, "Uh, it's stranger danger.". >> Oh, hello, brother. This is me, Marco. And hold on. You know what's crazy? Is. that What is your name?
>> Raven-Symoné. Raven-Symone. >> That was dope. I wish I had my afro, too. We would have looked just alike. >> Oh, come on. Take it out. Take it out. But those parts are crispy, so I don't. know if you should take it out right. now. >> I wish. >> good. >> So, yeah. >> are just alike. You got on slippers, too? >> YES. >> YES. YEAH, I like those. >> These are Steve Madden's. >> Those are pony. >> Yeah. >> I like that. These are Louis. My my. sister bought me these. >> See, that's what I said. Something like. that, I would just buy the fake version. and make it look nice. >> Period. >> Yeah. >> Period. I don't know if these are These. might be fake. Look. >> Yes, sir.
>> tell. >> Thank you, sis. >> [laughter]. >> So So I was like, "So you That was your. real name?" I thought it was just like. the show. >> No, I was born with a lot of names. >> Wow. >> I added more after I got married. I'm a. double hyphenate now. >> Uh-huh. What's that mean? >> Raven-Symoné is a hyphenated name, so. technically it's one name. But my name. now is Raven-Symoné. I have a middle name, which is. Christina. And then my last name is. Pearman-Maday. >> I'm the same way cuz I got two last. names cuz my mama didn't know who which. one was my daddy. And she gave me both. of them. >> You got to make sure everybody's. included. Yeah, I make sure.
>> I don't like that cuz when I get up like. on your passport, you got to have it on. there. Birth certificate, you got to. have it on there. >> are the worst because they don't like my. hyphenated name. They don't like any of. my real names. They just want me to be. Raven Pyramiden and then that doesn't. match my TSA pre-check, which doesn't. match my passport. So me to get on a. plane, I'm just giving money. Here you. go, under the table type [ __ ] Trying to. get on the plane. It's great. >> Did you have to used to practice the. look when you did in the camera? Was it. odd sometimes on camera on set? >> look at home all the time. >> Was it odd when it was on camera when. you did the vision look? >> No, it wasn't odd, but I'm friends with. my camera people, so it was actually.
more fun to mess with them cuz they were. like, "You're not blinking." I'm like, "I can't blink. Try it.". >> do that same look when you taking a. [ __ ]. >> No, it's more down. >> Okay. >> It's more down and like this. Yeah. >> That's just up. >> Yeah. Or I'm on the phone with somebody. >> Yeah. That's like. >> take a [ __ ] and talk to people? >> Yeah, all the time. That's when I really. feel relaxed. >> Me, too. That's one of my favorite. moments. >> I run the water sometimes, too. >> Oh my god. >> You do? >> I do, too. And then when my wife comes. in and checks, she says that I look like. a little kid doing something bad. I'm. like, "What?" What is it?
>> What is it? Yeah. I always got to have. the water running for some reason. >> Because I don't want to, you know, I. went to the bathroom the other day in my. office that I was not my office, but the. office building that I was in and people. kept coming in and out. I kept having to. flush. >> Mhm. >> [music]. >> Cuz I don't know. It just felt I felt. invaded. >> sometimes when I'm on the phone, I'm. muted before I flush. >> Yeah, right. Cuz they can't know. >> Yeah, yeah. Yeah, you can't know I'm. taking a [ __ ] Why do women go when they. order food, they put the phone on mute? That's the thing, too. >> Well, I don't identify as that kind of. woman, so. >> No, I'm saying out there in the world. >> identify those people. I don't know who.
you're talking to. I don't know who that. is. >> You did it before, Raven. >> Never did it before. >> When they go to Taco Bell or something, they put me on mute. They'd be like, "Hold on." and then they just go quiet. >> only time I've ever put anybody on mute. when I order is when I am at a fast food. restaurant and I'm talking to someone. that I don't want them to think that I'm. eating fast food at the time. So pretty. much just my mom. >> Oh. >> Okay. >> Because when I eat fast food, she's. like, "Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah." So I. literally put her on mute. >> Yeah, you look like somebody that like. organic stuff. Like you don't like. >> Now [clears throat] I do. >> Yeah, like you read ingredients and all. that. >> now. You know why? Cuz I'm old. >> You're not old, you're blessed.
>> I am old though, and I'm blessed. I'm. both. >> Mhm. But what is old? Because at the end. of the day. if we think about the thing of old, you. haven't experienced the age that you. hit. >> When I say old, my internal systems have. changed because of my hormonal patterns. So I'm talking about gastrointestinal. problems. I'm talking about pancreas. being used appropriately. >> new, but that's a new experience. So. that's new because it wasn't there. before. >> it only happened because I got old. >> No, but if we think about it, it's not. really old if it's something new coming. into your life and you're now.
experiencing it. >> This is true because there's no young. person who's ever experienced old, but. old people have experienced young. >> Right. So what I'm trying to say is if. we think about it Okay, so. >> You're sending me $10,000. >> What would you do with it? Give it back? >> No, I'd put it towards my mortgage. >> Why would [laughter]. But look, OKAY. >> THAT'S FREE $10,000. >> OKAY, so look, or we can do this, right? We can both come up with $10,000. We go. back and do [music] a Walmart run. I. used to do Walmart pranks and then you. do like a drop and you sign autographs.
and I sit there and I just like Here she. is. Here she is. >> interesting how you sound like Hollywood. putting me to work again and they just. sit down and take my money. This is. crazy. >> Right. >> It just keeps patterning itself. >> Well, I've been in Atlanta. I'm trying. to start, you know, I want to move out. here so I got to figure out how to do. something. >> Yeah, I have I You know what? You can. pick me out if you need to if you need. to every now and then. >> What is something like that you feel. like if you could do the journey over, like anything, is it something that. you're like, "Oh damn, I would like to. do that moment over." Or you feel like. every moment was like made you who you. are?
>> Yeah, people always say I wouldn't. change anything. I change a lot of [ __ ]. to be honest with you. I would come out. earlier. I would have come out a lot. earlier in life, uh not just to the. public, but for myself. [music]. Uh I probably would have rethought a. couple of projects that I did, like one. is 4 1 night. I probably would have. done it, but prepared a little bit more. for it. Um some of my outfits for red. carpet I probably would have done again. >> Yeah. >> Um. that's about it. >> The what the show that's already. shooting it, did you know it would be.
legendary like the moment of that fame. coming at you? Like how was it hitting. you like at the age of just working and. working and working? >> This is going to sound so egotistical. I. had already been on a number one show at. 3 years old and I understood that fame. then and then I was on Hangin' with Mr. Cooper for 4 years. [music] That was. like top rated for um Warner Brothers. So going to Raven's going to That's So. Raven, I wasn't thinking, "Oh, this is. going to be big. I'm going to be big. I'm going to be big." What I was. thinking was I'm a black girl heading. her own show. I can't [ __ ] up.
>> Why are you thinking that at that age? Cuz how old was you? >> I was 15. >> Wow, that's a lot on your effort and. like. >> I have problems. >> Yeah, I'm saying [laughter]. I'm like that's amazing but to just. think but it shows like you're mature. like. >> my father. It was the pressure of It was. knowing where I came from and what it. meant. I'm very aware of the history of. the entertainment industry when it comes. to black people slash women slash I. wasn't I was gay at the time but nobody. knew so just like a lot was going. against me. So you know, I wasn't the. one on set that was late or you know,
they couldn't find me. >> Wow. So like what do you feel like your eye. now of a director? Like would you be. like a movie director and start trying. to do that? >> goal. My goal is to direct and kind of. move away from acting. I have a couple. of pieces that are going to be coming up. where I'm acting and EPing but mostly. I'm moving towards directing because I. feel like. >> [music]. >> what I learned in the industry can. translate well and acting wasn't a. passion. That was something I was put. into and I have more than 10,000 hours. so that's just what it is but my goal is. as I'm in my 40s and as I get into my.
50s I want to be a director. >> Yeah. And it's currently cuz you don't. like age. It's like you're just you. >> I'm 40. That's right. >> That's a blessing. How about autographs. and stuff? Like what was it normal for. like when you go out to Target, Walmart? Like was it like dang you wanted to be. you like did it stop you at a young age. cuz I I say that I got this phrase where. we don't realize that we famous until. people make us feel like we famous. Cuz. like when you go to Target and then you. go what you doing here? Or they be like. why you shop? Like and they make you. feel like I'm at TJ Maxx and they like. what you doing at TJ Maxx? I'm like. [ __ ] I'm trying to catch deals. Like.
but it's like I feel like certain people. make you feel like you know what? Cuz I. don't think like Beyoncé woke up today. and say I'm too famous to go to Walmart. It's just what she had went. It was just. like oh my god I can't go no more cuz. how people made her feel but how was. that experience like hitting that and. then you want to go shopping and enjoy. your life outside of that? >> a very. weird experience with Hollywood in the. way that I was raised and what it was. just definitely because of the time. period I grew up in in Hollywood. My. parents always made sure that I was. grounded. So um I I they called me.
Cinderella in school like I was always. that type of person. I I bring that up. to say. I always shopped at Target and and. Walmart even if people would recognize. me I would stand there and sign. autographs. And at the same that was. when I was in school and then I would go. on tour with N Sync and do Walmart. appearances and actually have a setup at. Walmart for 4 hours I would be signing. my name. But then afterwards I would go. to the the food market and sit down with. everybody else. I know how to turn my.
light on and off so that I can go into. uh you know. uh. goodness gracious a Taco Bell in the. middle of the night nobody sees me or I. can walk into a Taco Bell and everybody. knows I'm there. Just depends on what I. want. >> Yeah. >> I know how to manipulate it but I've. never been able to have that experience. of oh now I'm famous because being on. The Cosby Show at 3 was just known like. this is your life for the rest of your. life. >> Mhm. >> So I have no I have no um. >> But you got fans like me that just know. like. just remembering that that's all right.
like you getting to see you. Like you. know what I'm saying? So with some. people that understand that phase but me. I just understand remember like cuz. where we is from I'm from Kansas City. Like it was 70. Like the Disney Channel. was 70. Like it was like that was the. only time we watched it and it was so. dope. >> Where I feel like when you are like. ahead of a show like where you open. doors for other people cuz you watch. this channel so much and then they. introduced this show and it's like oh. wow. So when you open the door, they. show how much power you got, you know, to be able to be like I brought a lot of. attention here traffic. And the same.
thing like what 50 Cent do with like. with stars. Like I got my show here and. then. y'all getting the traffic off that. >> I mean that's also just to the credit to. Disney. They understood the need, they. understood that there's so many. different eyeballs watching Disney. Channel. They had some They had some. amazing. talent beforehand and as we open the. doors for people behind and in front of. the camera, you create the Zendeas and. you create the Miley Cyrus's and you you. keep building and building and building. after that and it's it feels so special. to be able to be a part of the. foundation of it and be able to be a. part of, you know, the stepping stones.
for those who grew up and. and took over the world. >> So did you watch the show? Cuz some. people don't like watching it. How did. you feel about that? >> I don't watch myself. >> See, so you never at the time of that. you never watched the show. >> No, at the time of that I was watching. The L Word. I was watching like other [ __ ]. >> Mhm. >> I was watching. um. oh like Mad TV and adult comedies and. and all of that to kind of get my comedy. >> do you feel when people want to like. turn it on you was around like oh my god. like. >> I I don't watch. I mean it depends on.
what it is. I might watch the episode. Country Cousins because I'm really proud. of it. Um but there's some episodes. where I look and I I have mixed feelings. about some of the episodes. >> Mhm. >> that I don't really want to talk about, but um it's hard for me to watch. >> I don't ever watch myself and that's why. I said that's one thing as a comic when. I talk to like, you know, Kevin Hart and. them like you got to watch yourself. And. I'm like you got to listen to yourself. too, but I I really don't like watching. none of my art or even pictures I take. I don't like looking back. >> I have a question for you cuz this is. how I watch myself. When I'm doing it,
I'm actually watching myself. Like I. know what I'm doing when I'm doing it, so I don't have to watch it back. >> Yeah. That's how Yeah, that's how. That's like me. I would never I don't. understand people that have their self. on their screensaver or their phone. Honey, I'm like how can you I don't I would. never put myself as a screensaver on my. Like those type people like it's like I. don't know like they're different. >> What What's your What's your sign? >> What What's your What's your birthday? >> June 19th. >> Okay, I like you. I'm a Sag. So Geminis. and Sags get along, but we are very. self-aware.
>> Yeah. >> don't need Like we have enough. confidence in our self that we don't. need to boost it up anymore. I feel like. >> Even though it's being able to talk to. people is like reading a room. Like I. know how to read the room. And like. that's when you know your friends are, too. I'm too real of a friend, too. It's. like a gift and a curse cuz sometimes. I'm like, "Damn, I feel like I'm wrong. for being real.". >> I'm a Sag, so that's literally all I. have to deal with. Did I tell you too. much of the truth? Should I just be. quiet? But I also am the person that. like disappear disappears for months. because I just I like a little.
separation. >> And I don't like telling people bye. I. just leave. >> I'll do it. I'm not saying bye cuz I. might need I might need to see you. later. >> Yeah, but people like it. So how do you. like family functions? I'll just leave. I'll be the one about I'm about to get. something out of the car and I leave. I. never [laughter]. I never tell nobody bye. >> You got it What do they call it? Irish. goodbye? Something like that where it's like you. kiss them. You're like, "I'll see Oh my. god, got to see you.". And they they don't know what it is. >> Yeah. >> And you just leave. Just enough. >> I'm not good at it. I'm not. >> You got You got You got to do it a.
little bit, but not too much. >> Yeah. So you're good at just saying. that. You you can announce a room like, "All right, y'all. See y'all later.". >> Oh, I will kick somebody out my house in. a heartbeat. Like that's actually what. my friends. >> at your house. >> I don't. That's a lot of why my friends. love me. >> like you don't even like presents from. people. >> I love presents. >> Oh. Yeah. From people you know, though. >> Period. >> Yeah. >> People my People I know that know me. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, I like that. But I will say. I People will be over the house. Everybody's having a good time. I'm. tired. I got to go to the bathroom. All.
right, everybody, time to go. Got to get. out. They're like, "It's only 9:00." I. go to sleep at 10:00 and bye. I'll see. y'all tomorrow. >> kick people out. >> All day. I will do it in a heartbeat. And I and they and I love them so much. >> Barton did. All right, get to stepping. and get to. >> But, I'll cook See, I cook for them. though. We set up a good night. So, you. know, it's like a grandma. >> Favorite thing to cook? >> cook. Favorite thing to cook? Oh my god. Well, um right now, it's fermented. foods. Uh but, but I love cooking. I love sauces and I love soups. I love.
gumbo. Um. stuff like that. Stuff that is like a. cauldron type of thing to for healing. >> Mhm. >> You like to cook? >> I'm I'm learning. I don't like reading instructions. >> Cuz I don't like reading instructions. So, I'm the type that is just try to. guess everything. Even like and it's. where like measuring cups, I do not want. no measuring cup. Just give me a normal. cup and I'll eyeball it. >> So, you're going to be better at entrees. rather than desserts. >> Yeah, but I like fish. I know how to. cook fish. I worked at Popeyes, so I. know how to make chicken. So, >> Really? >> Yeah. >> So, what's the Popeyes secret for that.
crispy crust though? >> Uh you want to know what's crazy? Okay, so what it is is you got to have right. now, you got to use egg. That's the egg. batter. So, you crack an egg and you dip. the chicken in the egg and then you put. it in the flour. >> So, it coats? >> Yes, and then it stays on there. Yeah. >> That sounds like protein filled. So, I. don't think Popeyes is bad for us. That. sounds double protein. >> Who's your favorite artist like a music. that you listen to? >> Oh my goodness. Favorite artist? >> Billie Eilish. >> No, actually Frank Ocean.
Uh but, I like Thievery Corporation. I. stopped listening to a lot of music with. words. I need more like spiritual. esoteric stuff, more, you know, in that. >> So, you and then I looked up to Ja Rule. was your favorite artist. >> Who's Ja Rule you talking about? And so. was DMX. >> Yeah. >> But, Jay-Z's the king, so. >> Yeah, can you name five Jay-Z uh. name five. Ja Rule songs. >> No. I'm not even allowed to, you know, not. right now cuz I haven't listened to him. since 2000.
You mad? >> No, that was a clip that I'm putting on. my page. >> You're making me look like a. But at least I know. >> [laughter]. >> So yeah, I seen that before happening. So it's a Ja Rule thing and then it'll. be like, "Oh, I listen to him." Then. I'mma personally name five of his songs. and then it'll be like awkward. See? So I like seeing that seeing the. production. >> play into it? >> Yeah, you did. Yeah, it was like, "No, let me like I haven't listened to Ja. Rule in some damn people are like, "That's See? That's that where you. create that moment." Like you see it. happening. So it's like, "Okay, let me. ask you for the Ja Rule. and then you said, "I was actually lying. cuz I don't know." I thought you would.
say you don't [ __ ] with Ja Rule. But you. said, "Yeah." So then I'm like, "Oh. [ __ ] let me figure out how to get this. clip out.". >> He was the 2000. >> He was. I definitely like. >> Before Nelly, before anybody. >> Cent or Ja Rule, who you got? >> Well, I don't need any memes created by. Ja created by 50 Cent about me, so I'mma. go with 50 Cent just cuz he's here and. >> That's it, yeah. That was a good one. >> He got a little bit. >> Yeah, 50 Cent is really dope. They ain't. got a director too, like with eyes like. being able to see it. And one thing I. have to say when I meet people that met.
him, he'd be like, "He's a good person.". Like outside of that, so. >> one of his exes. >> Yeah. >> That's all I had to say about that. >> You was an ex to somebody? You know, like an ex. Yeah, what's what's your. favorite ex? >> My favorite ex is probably the one. that's in jail right now. >> Yeah, that's what's up. They probably be. writing too. >> Yeah, I mean. >> Yeah. My favorite ex, uh, she used to. let me drive her car. Uh, yeah. You know what's crazy? I blew out the. transmission and everything. Yeah. >> like [music] a. >> But I wanted to buy her a new car, but. she got a dude and he cockblocked So I'm.
like, "All right.". >> Saved you some money. Yeah, I mean. Good. for you. >> back around here." I said, "Okay. Got it. I was about to buy y'all a new car. >> [music]. >> Look at that. Saved. >> That's what it is. I was about to get. you another Toyota. But [ __ ] it. That's what it is. That's crazy. It's all It's really It's. amazing that you can just actually. like. wake up in the morning and say I'm up. >> Not everybody can do that. >> Yeah.
>> And that's why one of the things I tell. I run into obviously run into a lot of. females but like I'm like how old are. you? Oh my god I. I can't tell my age. I'm like you could. not wake up today. There are some people. that don't make it past 20, 15, sometimes younger than that. Like be. proud of how old you are. >> Yeah, that's what I say embrace it. >> Yeah. >> That's what it is. My grandma still. talking about she ain't talking about. her age. I'm like you you 60. >> We know you're at least 82. >> Yeah. It is stop playing that. You know. >> grandpa's about to be in the hundreds. soon. >> He is? >> Yeah. >> He still He talking and stuff? >> he ain't doing [ __ ] but this.
But he here. He eat. >> But I don't want to lay there long to do. that. I'm good. >> know. It depends. >> I'm all right. >> He's waiting for something. >> Yeah. >> He's sitting by. Well, probably. >> And then you get them old people that. get finally get their Camaro and then. they Corvette and they just drive and. they got the window down. It's like. you've been waiting on that. >> I've always wanted to go to Congress and. say by the time you turn 70 we need to. check you for your license and if you. can drive every week. I think that after. you turn 70 we I'm sorry for those who. are very spry. >> Yeah.
>> I just want you to be able to sit down. and chill. >> Yeah. >> Sometimes they don't be driving. It was. a old lady backing out of Target and she. looked like this and tell me what she. went into reverse. >> [laughter]. >> And I'm like girl you a dub like you. look forward now. And then I'll be more of like I just. want to just take you and help. Like you. know, we got a grandkid like we need to. help them be there. Like you know. >> I think for every Uber I take should be. a free Uber ride for an old person. >> Yeah, right. >> what I mean? Like they do with the socks. from Bob's or something like that. Yeah. >> I worked at a nursing home too. One. thing I can I'm not good at spelling and.
reading and I was a waitress at a. nursing home. >> Waiter. >> Yeah. Same thing, right? >> I don't know. One has titties. >> Oh. I got titties? >> Oh. >> Nipples. >> Exactly. Different, yeah. different. right. So, um I'm the nipple guy. I was. being the nipple guy as the server. And I'm I remember they used to act like. tell me what they wanted. Man, I. couldn't spell. Sometimes I'd draw it. out. Like pizza, I'd draw a pizza. >> fun. >> Yeah, so. >> How would you spell pizza then? >> I'd just draw the pizza out. >> but how. >> P I Z Z A, right?
>> Yeah, I think that's pizza. >> Yeah. >> Good job. >> Yeah, that's good. I know I spelled that. word. I think it I thought it was right. But other words I don't. I'm good at. three-letter words. Cat, hat. >> Dad. >> Yeah, mom. >> That's me. I'm not chill. Any. three-letter words. But when you get to. four, kind of a little difficult like. difficult. >> I can't count very well. >> Yeah. >> Me and numbers don't go well together. >> Yeah, I'm the same way. >> Yeah. That's why we have an account. >> sometimes, I'm like it 100 times 10,000. sometimes look alike. >> They do cuz it's all the same number. after the one. >> You got Apple Pay? >> I got Apple Pay, Zelle, Venmo, and all. of them. >> Well, send me 10,000 and I'll show we.
can break down how. >> Well, I might only send you 10 because. that's what 10,000 looks like 10,000. >> Yeah, but no, we can do 10,000. >> But I think maybe if I just put a zero, it wouldn't make sense because that's. equal to the zeros that are behind the. one. >> But if you do something to me, I'll be. able to be like see, I remember when she. gave me that 10,000. But if you don't, I'm not going to remember [ __ ]. >> True, but I could buy you a slice of. pizza and just call it a day. But you. don't know how to spell it, so I think. maybe. >> I. >> Halal. >> Nah.

And then I'm almost done. >> Yeah, for sure. Yeah. >> That's it. >> There you go. There you go, right there. >> That one was it. [music] Okay. That's. what up. You know what's crazy? I This See, we.
miss these times of autograph. They. don't do that. Now they just secretly. record you. >> I. >> Which one you like this better or. secretly record? >> this one better because when people. secretly record me, I literally am the. one that will take their phone and be. like, "What are you Like I can't I can't. handle it.". >> And then they had the medical glasses. like, "Oh, you all right?" Like they're. bleeping. >> But see, I Since I was raised on TV, they got that red light and I know when. the camera is on. >> just Yeah, still not okay to come up and. just be like, "What is your favorite. meal you like?" And it's like, "Stop. doing that.". >> That is not freedom of speech. That is. not freedom of media. That is voyeur.

NFL or NBA? >> Get rid of NBA. >> Okay. >> I used to love Madden and I I like. football. >> PS5 or Xbox? >> Ooh. Get rid of Get rid of Xbox because I. like the controller spatialness of the. PS5. [music] I like the way it holds in. my hand rather than Xbox. Purely, that's.
the only reason, but visuals and games, probably Xbox. But it For me, it's here. I got to hold I got to hold it right, you know what I mean? >> Applebee's or Chili's? >> Okay, I have to get rid of Applebee's. because there was this turkey roasted. chili sandwich that I used to get on a. plane before I would come to LA with my. daddy and it had mayo and mustard and. the turkey was so roasted and it and the. gravy was soft, but they only served it. at the airport and we would never go to. Chili's the restaurant in public because. it was always baby back ribs and I. wasn't allowed to have beef or pork when.
I was growing up. So that turkey. sandwich kind of made my my butt and. then Applebee's, I really like their egg. >> Two for twenty, two for twenty, they. started that. >> That's what I'm saying. That's what I'm. saying. I feel like I messed up, but. it's that turkey sandwich that got me. What about you? You're going to go. Applebee's? >> Yeah, Applebee's. >> Okay. >> That was my first date. >> Olive Garden. or Applebee's? >> Oh, yeah. >> [clears throat]. >> I'm going to have to go with Applebee's. again. >> Wow. >> Because I was a cheapo. >> Okay. That's fair. That's fair. >> And you know what's crazy? I used to The. one thing about going on a date when I. was on a budget. >> Mhm.
>> is when I got water and I and they said, "Would you like to drink?" I I got water. and I look at the girl and I'm trying. not to let her know. She said, "I'll. take a pink lemonade." I'm like, "You. don't understand what the [ __ ] we going. through right now.". >> She doesn't. >> for a refill, too. I don't like refills. >> See, this is what I'm going to help you. with next time. Before she orders, be. like, "We'll take two waters and a side. of lemon and make sure you bring sugar. to the table." And then you make her a. lemonade for free. >> That's different. But then, what if she said, "Oh, yeah, I'm going to do that, but still bring me. the pink lemonade.". >> Then you get up off the table and go.
home AND DON'T SAY GOODBYE. >> WOW, you're really good at. this. You're really good at. That's okay. How old were you start. driving? Did you get a permit license? >> I I started driving at 13, but legally. at 15. >> You got a permit? >> Yeah. >> What were you like it seemed like you. were like you were ahead of your time. Like what is something that you was not. good at? >> I'm really not good at spelling um and. I'm really not good at communication. I. actually really suck at. >> You act. >> Because when I act, I'm reading someone. else's words and communicating through.
someone else's words. But I just started feeling comfortable. speaking in my own words. >> Wow. So like talking in public like like if. they wanted you to do like a. like talk to everybody those things you. like avoid? >> I would try my best to. They still would. have me, but I'd have stuff written and. I'd be like, "All right, everybody, we're done. Bye." They're like, "You. have 15 more minutes." I have no jokes. Goodbye. I'm very awkward. Very awkward. Receiving an award, I am sh- fitsing all. over my body. It's really difficult. >> Mhm. >> But recently I've been okay. >> So, when the awards come to you, it's.
like, I don't need to win. I don't need. to win. >> I barely win. I mean, thank you to the. NAACP. I've won a lot of those, but. yeah, I'm not triggered. >> Mhm. >> Scary. >> What is your favorite thing about. yourself that's unique that the world. don't know about? >> I'm writing a book. And I'm telling you, but that isn't that book. Um I have a. superpower and that's it. I don't know. how to say it, but yeah. >> So, wow. So, the TV show was real. >> Yeah. I'm psychic. >> [laughter]. >> Mhm. >> Do you get tired of the psychic jokes? Like, oh, psychic. Like, was it Like, was sometimes like, okay, I get it. It's.
like. >> I can't show it because that's. disrespectful. There's moments where I'm. like, y'all know I really can't see the. future, right? They're like, "Tell me my. future." I'm like, that's funny. No, I can't. But I I play. along cuz I understand. That's like if. me going to Janelle to be like, "Pleasure Grayson Allen." And she's. like, "What?" I'd be so mad. You know. what I mean? Like, I just play it cool. >> Well, that's how good you play a. character when people want to talk about. it in real life. Cuz think about people. that have these shows and we don't know. nothing about it. >> Period. >> So, it just shows like, wow, like, how.
legendary it is. It's up there with the. Martins and Uh have you got to meet the. Wayans brothers yet? >> I have gotten to meet some of the. Wayans, yeah. >> You should be in Scary Movie. You should. have been in there. >> You know what? I said the same thing, but nobody sent me an audition. >> [ __ ] Marlon? Yeah, you ain't right for that. She. could have been right there in there. >> Next time, next time. >> That'd be a dope appearance. Like, people are happy to see That's when. people like when they miss you. Like, Pal, where you been at? Cuz you so. low-key. >> That would have been fun. I am very. low-key. I like to stay to myself. >> Yeah. >> Keeps my ass out of trouble. >> Okay, so I'm going to draw a picture of. you right now. You draw a picture of me.
and we got to like. 2 minutes. >> All right. >> Want to do it? >> Let's go. Do you guys have white? I know that's crazy because there's a. white on here, but. >> I'm black. >> No, I know you are. >> I'm black. >> But to show black, you got to put it. around white. >> That's how we are. We come together, we. become powerful. >> Period. It's okay, I'll use gray. >> Yeah, that's all we got. >> No worries. I'm sorry. You're like, I. have every color in the spectrum, why. are you asking for the one thing? My. bad, you guys. >> What color are your glasses? >> Rich. I'm sorry, what? >> Oh, got it.
All right, we ready. Okay. How you doing over there? >> I'm doing well. How are you? >> Oh, you know what? Okay, I ain't going to look [music] at. yours, don't look at mine. >> Okay, I won't. >> All right. Uh, okay, I guess I'll ask a different. question. When's the last time you. farted? >> Um, I don't know, like 4 seconds ago. >> Wow, that's just so Yeah. >> Yeah.
>> Sometimes I feel like, why hold it? >> Why hold it? >> Why hold it? Like. >> Oh, you're not supposed to hold it. It's. really bad. >> Yeah. >> And I My favorite is when it's so loud. and I can't hide that I did it. You know. what I mean? Like I can't hide the fact. that I just farted. It's my favorite. >> What about uh. uh Lil Wayne? Do you like Lil Wayne? It. seem like that would be like. like you like y'all was popping around. the same time like. >> We were popping around the same time, honey. Honey, I met Lil Wayne. That was. a That was a journey.
>> That was dope. >> though. I liked it. >> How do you feel when people used to ask. you for pictures I was famous around. that time? >> left. >> Um, I thought it was cool because. >> 1 more minute. >> I thought it was cool because then I'd. be able to ask them back and I not feel. bad about it. >> Uh-huh. >> Um. but. you know. How about you? Do you like Who would you. stop in the middle of the street and. take a picture with? >> Oh, that's a good question. Uh, Eminem. I want to actually meet.
Eminem. I think we would be like really like. really dope. Uh. I met Too Short. And then you know who Too Short is? >> What's my favorite word? >> [ __ ]. >> My mama used to make us clean up the. house to a Too Short album. Come on now, bro. >> What was the album that you grew up on? >> I grew up on uh Boyz II Men and Alanis. Morissette. >> They on tour. Bobby Brown, he get tired. every freaking minute. >> love it. I love it. When he does that,
it's so funny. I saw him the other day, too. Yeah, I love it. >> Um. Let's see. >> Um. >> 1 minute. Okay. >> I really want to apologize for. your face shape. I I wasn't able to. >> I know, it's okay. I know you did it. right. >> in. >> I know what you did a lot right. Um. let's do this. How long you been painting?
>> Um since I was a baby. >> That is dope, being able to paint. >> I um my mom started me painting because. she would see that sometimes I would get. stressed at work and it became a uh. became a [music]. like a safety space for me. >> Safety hazard? >> Yeah, safety hazard. >> 20 seconds.
>> Uh I need some You got freckles. >> Uh no, sadly I don't. >> Yeah, I'm going to add some on there. >> Time's up. >> [music]. >> No, we're we're going to go still. >> Okay. >> Just a little bit longer. I'm not finished. Sorry. >> [laughter]. >> Sorry about that. Let me just do one. thing and then we're done. >> Mhm. Oh, got your I should do your.
shirt. You got a white shirt on. Well, let me make it gold. What's one of your first tattoo? Did you. sneak and get it? >> Oh, no. I did it. My first tattoo was a. [ __ ] stamp on my back, but it was of a. big eye. >> And what was it for? To see who's back. there? >> own back. I'm done. >> Okay. >> There's a lot going on. But if I had.
more [music] time, it'd be okay. >> Okay. >> What I appreciate about you is that you. captured my glasses so well. >> Yeah. >> And [music] my hair. Like I see what you. see. But it actually just looks more like you. when you take your hair out. >> A little bit. >> Yeah. >> Who the hell I I can see where you going. with that. >> trying my best, but see I couldn't I had. to keep looking back and you were. behind, so I couldn't keep the face, but. then like here are your braids. >> Yeah. >> And then like.
>> You know what's so crazy? They would. That's like a painting that you can sell. for like millions of dollars. >> I hope so. >> Yeah. That's how the paints look like. But this is you. I feel like your. glasses stood out like your eyes. >> Yeah. >> A very um. >> You really picked something where I'm. not going to be able to focus on what. you see for me. >> No, but it's the hair is everything. >> The hair is everything, and I didn't get. your I didn't capture yours as best as I. wanted to. >> And I wish I wish I would have my afro, but I like it cuz I I it gives who I am.
Stiff. >> It gives this. It gives just here. >> Yeah. Yeah. It may someday. >> I appreciate it. Do I get to take that. home? Cuz Did you sign it? That's the. most important thing. >> Okay. >> I'm going to need you to sign your name. >> You signed yours? >> I did. Down there. It didn't really work. out very well, but that's typically my. signature. >> As you know me, I used to have long. hair, and a lot of people saying things. like, "Oh, did you put this hair in your. hair? >> To who? >> But um. >> What's your ultimate girl for you? >> so. >> [music]. >> the ultimate girl for me is. um. It's so funny. The ultimate girl is. Ah, man, I really want to say what I. want to say. >> You should say what you want to say. We'll look at that later. >> no, right now. >> Me. >> The ultimate Yeah. That's who. >> [laughter]. >> Uh. >> [music]. >> The ultimate girl is number one seeing. growth. You know what I'm saying? Somebody that just don't see they self. as who they are right now.
So, like. >> [music]. >> I just don't feel comfortable with. meeting somebody and just be like, this. is the best version of you. And I don't. want a woman meet me like, this is the. best version cuz we should always keep. growing. >> Real bad. >> So, like monthly change and checkup, like what is really changing for us to. to in a relationship. I feel like, when. you're growing up as a kid, a. relationship is just like we together. Don't cheat on me. I won't cheat on you. But once you realize no one can stop. getting between that, now you start to. really seeing what the [ __ ] are we doing. in this relationship? >> I think that's so smart. >> So really seeing I think relationships. should have daily check-ups. Like.
monthly. Like what [music] are we doing? Like where are you at from at this. point? And then like great card. >> God, you think like a lesbian. That's. crazy. >> I am a lesbian. >> Technically you are. >> Yeah. >> Good job. Welcome to the family. >> I'm in there. Yeah. Then that's okay. All right. So. >> [laughter]. >> I was like. I seen the joke. I was like nope. >> Why not? >> No cuz it's like the world now how they. click [ __ ] It's like oh my god. Like. when they not in the room, they be like. oh [ __ ] Y'all had to be there to. understand. So they don't care no more. You got people that's like and this is.
what's going on right now. And I'm going. to tell you this is my cousin. He is one. of them. You got people out there. that uh get on your page. and just be like you need to get your. [ __ ] together. This [ __ ] was not cool. And as they typing that. somebody yelling at them. Yelling at. them. Get your ass back on the fryer. Close this farm. Get back to work. And he's not happy with his position in. life. >> [music]. >> So sometimes these people out there is. just commenting and saying all this [ __ ]. and whole time they not happy. And all. you got to do is get happy. I wonder. what those people look like that make. comments sometimes. I'm like I never.
would leave a comment on nothing. Or. like you know it's like. >> leave a disrespectful comment. I won't. leave a disrespectful comment. Yeah, but. I I I don't get it either honestly and. um I talk about this a lot with people. in my in my crew and and around me. because comments especially with people. that are new in the industry or young, they feel like that's the end all be. all. In actuality, if you turn your. phone off, there is no comment to be. seen in the real world. Cuz people keep. their comments to themselves in their. head. The only time you really witness. is when you're like this. Look up and.
out and everything is just fine. >> Right. >> You know what I mean? People think crazy. things in their head all the time but it. doesn't really stop you from walking. past them or posting whatever. It's like. when you are too stuck in that phone, your life will be stuck as well. >> That's. Yeah, it was a comment one of them was. like, "Oh man, he's like you should play. Freddy Krueger with all them scars on. your face.". >> God damn. >> I don't know why you say that. >> Cuz that was rude to say to you. >> But it's god damn like you don't believe. it, right? >> No, you shouldn't play Freddy Krueger. Besides, black people don't do that kind.
of murder. So I don't even fit with your. brand. >> What? Yeah, that is when you sleep. Yeah, it's weird. >> If you're talking If you're talking. about your face, I would say more Seal. Talent. You're welcome. >> I look better than Seal. >> Yeah, you do. But. >> 4.5. >> Well, Kiss by a Rose.
>> Seal's bald head. >> Shiny and pretty. You can rub on it. Yeah. You got a bald head somewhere, I hope. >> No. >> [laughter]. >> Everywhere. Everywhere. That was that. You know Kevin Hart said. that joke to me and now you're going to. make me live through that traumatized. again. They're going to take that clip. and I'm [ __ ]. >> Well, then cancel it. Take that out. >> in here. >> [laughter]. >> I love me some Seal. >> Yeah. >> I grew up with him. >> They said I look Julius Randle. I get. that one.
Uh basketball player Yeah, from. Minnesota. >> I don't do basketball. >> Yeah, I know. So let's get rid of it. >> No, but. >> It shows a lot. >> I can't help myself. >> Uh you and you into fashion, are you. ever like going to get into like. >> Not only am I into fashion, but I'm into. furniture. I have a line called. Raven-Symoné Home where bean bags and. couches and Is it out yet? Yes, out. >> Uh so, can I get some pieces or I can uh. I can get you a discount code? No, I'm. saying can I get some. >> You mean like for free? >> I'm going to say free cuz I'm going to. like let people know where to like I'm.
for what you give me, I'm going to send. my customers to spend extra. >> Okay. >> An investment. >> Yeah, yeah, yeah, I understand. So. you're going to help me like promote if. I get you 10,000. >> say promote because. >> Well, you're not going to promote. >> I'm No, I'm saying it's it's telling the. truth. >> Understood. So, you got to test it out. to see if you want to actually You know. what? I will take you up on that offer. because I promise you you will be very. satisfied. >> Mhm. And where do you get this at? What's the What's What's the website? >> The website Well, you can get it at. Walmart. You can. >> It's at Walmart? >> It's at Walmart. It's at Rooms To Go.
It's at. >> show me a picture real quick? Is it on. your phone? Yeah, the. >> for sure. >> I'll be at Rooms To Go. They ain't never. got stuff like on there. >> is online. Ours is online. >> And it's at Walmart, too? >> Yeah, so it's at Walmart. >> start getting old where you laying back. and you looking at your phone. >> Who called? Wait, it's all the way Oh, it's calling me out there. >> [laughter]. >> I told you I was old as dirt. >> there. >> It doesn't help if my glasses are. >> If you laying back or looking you just. got to just know how to look at it. >> This is the all-new Raven-Symoné Home. Collection. >> Yo, y'all got to pop these images up, uh.
>> Thank you. >> Wow. So, personal question. When you. were like at the time of Raven-Symoné, everybody loved you, right? And you had. a lot of crushes. How was you able to. explain when people did try to like come. take you on a date or like a man like, "Nah, I'm okay." Like, how was you able. to turn like tell a man like, "Nah.". >> I didn't. I told them yes. >> Uh so, the whole time he was like, "Ah, man.". >> I was conflicted in the brain. >> Uh. >> But, I went on dates with men because. that's what I thought I had to I had to. do. And I had great relationships with.
men. >> Mhm. >> Some of us are still friends today. Some. of us are not. And I was their best. friend. >> Were you just like, "Okay, I got to let. them know like. >> Oh, all the men knew that I like what I. liked. >> Uh huh. >> And so, even when we would go out, I'd. be like, "She pretty, ain't she?". >> Yeah. >> Yeah. I'm like, "You Okay, no. Okay.". >> [laughter]. >> Uh. >> We're not going to do that today. Okay. >> Well, >> But, um no, I kept it pretty cool that. You can ask any of my exes, which you'll. never know cuz they all signed NDAs. except for one. So, yeah. >> And so, That's to say sometimes it's always good. with just expressing like who you are. and stuff like that. But, at the time it.
was different for you being a superstar. and like, you know, so if it's like in. that area where you can't really say too. much like just be in this character, be. this person, be this person. >> And I also didn't want any of my. relationships to outshine the work that. I was doing. I felt like a lot of times, you know, people dated in the industry. and that was a whole another job. >> Yeah. >> To see where you could be seen, what who. you were dating.
