Why ANGEL in X-MEN (2028) is a HUGE DEAL

Does the angel joining the starting. lineup of Marvel Studios X-Men mean this. movie is trying to complete the set of. original X-Men from the number one cover. or that there's a villain beyond Mr. Sinister named Apocalypse? Welcome back. to New Rockstars. I'm Eric Boss and I. think we're starting to figure out the. plot of Marvel Studios X-Men coming May. 5th, 2028. Actor Asa German was. announced by the Hollywood Reporter to. be playing Angel Warren Worthington III. And the more we look into this decision. and everything else we know about this. film, the more of the story of this. first MCU X-Men movie and the whole.

Mutant Saga starts to come into focus. By the way, yes, I am currently working. hard on The Lanterns episode 5. breakdown, and that's coming to the. channel tomorrow. I didn't get to see. this episode until last night, and it. takes New Rockstars 36 hours to make big. breakdowns like this. We're not trying. to be first. We're trying to just be. really, really good. Thank you for your. patience, and if you're a DC fan loving. these Gorilla Grod set photos as much as. we are, grab one of these. This grud. needs a brew. Shirts available at our. merch store, nerdright.shop. Okay. Last. week, the Hollywood Reporter confirmed. that Asa Germaine would be playing Angel.

Warren Worthington III in Marvel Studios. X-Men. Asa is best known for playing Sam. Riordan in the boys spin-off Jinv as a. schizophrenic soup with a dark storyline. that was much better in season 1 than. season 2, as well as a role in Screen 7. earlier this year. Angel was one of the. original five X-Men who appeared on the. cover of 1963's X-Men number one. alongside Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Gan. Gray, Beast, and Iceman, and of course, their leader, Professor Charles Xavier. Warren Kenneth Worththington is the heir. to a prominent wealthy New York family.

His mutation gives him large feathered. wings, allowing him, of course, the. power of flight, as well as superhuman. agility, strength, and vision. Ben. Foster played a version of Angel in. 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand, and Ben. Hardy played the character in 2016's. X-Men Apocalypse. So, the full cast of. Marvel Studios X-Men as we know it so. far. Asa German as Angel Warren. Worthington III. Christopher Abbott as. Professor Charles Xavier. Kit Connor as. Cyclops, Scott Summers, Satie Sink as. Gan Gray, Maya Boyd as Aurora Monroe. Storm, Indie Navaretti as Rogue, Samara. Weaving as Emma Frost, Adam Driver as.

Mr. Sinister, Nathaniel Milbury. Asa Dan. was on a short list from the Rounds of. X-Men casting back in July. A runner up. for the part of Scott Summers that ended. up going, of course, to Kit Connor. A. reminder that Marvel's casting director. Sarah Haley Finn told our colleague. Brandon Davis at San Diego Comic- Con. that she was casting eight parts. >> But they worry you might be casting say. eight ones at once. It's wow. It's quite. challenging. >> So that might be eight X-Men in addition. to Satie Sink who was already cast and. she might have also been excluding Adam. Driver and Samaro Wevy who don't.

necessarily need to have the same. chemistry with the other kids. So, if. they're adding Angel to stay consistent. with that X-Men number one lineup, I. would say we can also expect casting. announcements for Hank McCoy Beast and. Bobby Drake Iceman as well. Storm and. Rogue were introduced in the years after. that initial lineup. Storm in 1975 and. Rogue in 1981, but obviously they became. quick fan favorites that you really. can't do any X-Men story without. So, we. will see if Marvel Studios considers. other 80s and '90s X-Men like Jubilee, Kitty Pride, Shadowcat, Remy Leau,

Gambit, Kurt Vagner, Nightcrawler, and. whoever your favorite is also essential. to this cast in the initial lineup. Yesterday's episode of Sneak Peek went. in a lot of interesting directions, including a solid argument that Marvel. Studios might be waiting to get into. Storm's backstory until Ryan Cougler is. handling the script and direction in. Black Panther 3. We also threw out a. curveball pitch that Marvel Studios. might be reimagining Magneto's backstory. as a refugee from the Rwanda genocide if. that is what they're planning for a huge. name like Denzel Washington. I mean, think about it. An African Magneto with.

power over all of the vibranium. Just. think of the possibilities. I mean, that. is an insane pitch that would definitely. start quite a discourse. But just go. watch that episode and hear us out. before you disagree with us. And also. tune in for this coming Sunday's episode. of Sneak Peek when the hosts of the. Escape Pod podcast are going to join me. for a special crossover episode relevant. to stuff I'm talking about in this. video. Pause. That detail I just shared. I had fun doing the research to figure. it out. I love my job, but that doesn't. change the fact that it is work. When.

I'm working on a breakdown, I need to. lock in. And sure, I know what coffee. is, but too much caffeine and I wind up. crashed out, unable to focus or sleep. I. get so much more done when I don't feel. so wired. I just want energy that makes. me feel how I naturally feel when I'm at. my best. Well, Ultra Focus pouches are. nicotine free, tobaccof free, and. caffeine-free oral pouches to support. razor sharp focus, calm energy, and. enhanced mental clarity. No pills, no. drinks, no crash. You just pop one in. your mouth and you'll start feeling the. effects in about 5 minutes. The new.

Tropics and Ultra Pouches have a shorter. half-life than caffeine, so you can take. them later in the day without worrying. about losing sleep. Each pouch lasts. about an hour or two and it's easy to. reup without getting those crazy spikes. you might get from an energy drink. When. you drink something with caffeine in it, your body breaks it down into something. called parazenine and that's actually. where you get your energy from with. coffee. Ultra pouches start with. parazinine and then add in elenine and. gensing which help to curb the jitters, crash and other unwanted side effects of.

stimulants. I tend to take one or two. cool mint pouches in the afternoon and. it has been great. I'm cutting back on. those second coffees that keep me up and. still grinding out as many videos as. ever for you guys. Ultra pouches are a. great way to get the energy all day. long. Shrier confirmed that in this version of. the X-Men story, Sadi Sinks Jean Gray. will be the center of it. There's a. quote reportedly from Shrier going. around saying she is a founding member.

of the X-Men and we will follow her. story. It's actually been pretty. delightful to see these young X-Men. actors out in the world together. Sandy. Sink and Maya Boyd were spotted next to. each other at the Calvin Klein fashion. show in New York. Now, I'm not much of a. lipreer, but it kind of looks like Satie. Sink is saying at one point here, "No, I. want to be home." Maybe they were. talking about whether they were excited. to go to the UK to shoot X-Men next. year. Rogue actress Indie Navaret spoke. for the first time about her process. playing Anamarie Rogue. >> You gave me a little darling coming up. here. Are there any famous southern. accents you are drawing on for your.

iteration of Rogue? >> So, I I've never told this publicly. I. completely forgot, but I have a divorced. family and I grew up in Texas for a good. majority of my life. Um, so honestly, those southern women are really my. favorite. Corpus Christie is this city. specifically. Um, so I just remember, you know, the old southern women that I. really, really love. Uh, but. specifically Miss Mississippi. Rogue is. from Mississippi. So, I'm really just I. want to go there. I want to really do. her justice. >> That's right. Indian is the daughter of.

a Mexican who served in the Marines and. an Australian hair stylist and grew up. in Texas. And then when her parents. divorced, she ended up moving to. Visalia, California. Rogue does come. from Mississippi in the comics. And I. will just say that halfway between. Corpus Christi, Texas and the Gulf Shore. of Mississippi is Louisiana. Both where. Remy Leau comes from and where Carol. Danvers, last time we saw her, took over. Monica Rambo's farm. But casting Angel. in this movie and putting in that role. the runner up to Scott Summers a major. upcoming talent like Asa tells us that. this character really does have a big.

future beyond even this movie. And the. future of Angel most people know is his. transition into Archangel. A. transformation only made possible by. Apocalypse when he makes Warren one of. his four horsemen. Warren becomes a. fallen angel after losing his wings and. Apocalypse upgrades him with these. metallic blue wings with razor sharp. feathers that can be fired as. projectiles. If this is the direction. they're going with Archangel, it starts. to make a bit more sense why this first. X-Men movie is kicking off with Adam. Driver is Mr. Sinister, specifically the. Nathaniel Milbury version of the.

character, implying that this Nathaniel. has been around for a long time. experimenting on young mutants. And the. only way that he has that longevity is. because it's a gift from Apocalypse. So, from the casting alone, I think this. 2028 X-Men movie will be a tale of two. houses. the Xavier Institute of. Professor Charles Xavier and the State. Home for Foundings, aka the Milbury. Hospital run by Nathaniel Milbury. And I. think Emma Frost will be working with. Nathaniel as a home for mutant runaways, but they'll actually be harvesting their. DNA. And if Scott Summers starts at this. home, it's probably going to be the.

origins of Mr. Sinister experimenting. with the Summers family DNA. And maybe. because someone told Mr. Sinister that. the progyny of these two is going to. lead to a very important timetraveling. assassin named Cable. I assume that the. story of this movie is going to be Gan. Gray kind of liberating these mutants. from one house, taking them to another. house. And with Asa German cast as. Warren Burlington, I kind of wonder if. portraying a soup imprisoned in the. woods in GenV is part of why he was cast. in this role. But I don't know if fans. truly realize how instrumental. Apocalypse is to Mr. Sinister's origin.

Mr. Sinister was just one of the three. clones of Nathaniel Essex in Victorian. England, the most evil form of him. And. Mr. Sinister's whole appearance, agelessness, and powers were the result. of a power up by Apocalypse when. Apocalypse traveled in time to intersect. with Sinister's past in Victorian. England. But we don't know how Adam. Driver is going to look in this movie. But the new Wolverine game that just. came out gave us the Insomniac Marvel. game continuity imagining of the. character. If Adam Driver looks anything. like this in the 2028 X-Men movie, then. Apocalypse was part of his history. I.

mean, even if he doesn't look like this, I still think we should assume that. Apocalypse is part of his past. Now, we. should remember that the MCU already. showed us an Age of Apocalypse timeline. in Deadpool and Wolverine when Deadpool. goes out looking for a replacement. Wolverine. One of the timelines he goes. to is the comics Earth 295, the Age of. Apocalypse dystopia, where Wolverine is. a resistance fighter in Black and Red. who's lost his left hand replaced with. an adamantium stump for Wolverine to. even look this way. It's proof that. there's some timeline out there where. Apocalypse won. I've actually been. wondering lately if Marvel Studios plan.

is after Secret Wars to perhaps reassign. some of the plans that they had for the. Kang Dynasty to a different time lord. villain Apocalypse in the Mutant Saga. It was actually just announced that. Destin Daniel is confirmed to be. returning to direct Spider-Man 5 as we. expected. And remember, while he was. doing press for Spider-Man Brand New. Day, he indicated that he still has his. old plans for Avengers the King Dynasty. before Marvel Studios reconceived the. film as Avengers Doomsday. What do you. think is the coolest idea you had for. Avengers Kang Dynasty that we're. probably never going to see now? Cuz.

dude, it just sounds like you have so. much cool stuff in mind. What do you. think of these characters? >> I had a great time doing that. Um we. Yeah, we it was really fun. It was. really fun creating that um that. document which, you know, we we we. mapped out a really what would have been. a really fun movie. Yeah. >> Um, you know, sad sad it didn't happen, but. I wouldn't be sitting in this chair. talking about Spidey. So,

>> yeah, >> I'm not complaining. >> I I don't think anybody's mad that we're. getting you on this movie here. >> And he told the rap that he intends to. answer the question of the 10 rings. beacon from that Shani postredit scene. someday. I mean, I don't think the Russo. brothers are going to touch that mystery. at all in Doomsday or Secret Wars, and. they're just going to leave it for. Destin to pick back up someday. I don't. think Sony's fifth Tom Holland. Spider-Man movie is going to touch on. Apocalypse at all. I'd be shocked if. that was the case. But could that. mystery, those rings, have actually been. the beacons to awaken in Saboner? Let. Crenon cook. I want to see what his plan.
