What Happened to HULK After Spider-Man Brand New Day?
Where do they take Bruce Banner at the. end of Spider-Man Brand New Day and how. will he return at Avengers Doomsday or. Secret Wars? I'm Eric Voss of the New. Rockstars channel and the Hulk scenes in. Spider-Man Brand New Day were for many. of us the high point of the film, leaving us with such euphoric joy that. we missed the very depressing fate of. Bruce Banner that left our boy Ned. weeping. But, there was one detail in. here that not only tells us where we. will see Hulk next, but also gives us. the big answer that we've been seeking. for how Jean Grey is launching the MCU.
universe and Hulk's big role in Doomsday. and Secret Wars. Allow me to explain. But, before I do, we have so many great. Marvel-themed designs available at our. merch store nerdriot.shop. Specifically, shirts that you see Peter wearing in the. film like Delmar's Deli and the physics. are theoretical but the fun is real. And. a huge thanks to all of our fans who. rock our gear out in the world and then. post selfies and tag us like Shelley, Chris, Elena, a switch, Sam No Bowser, Michael, and our birthday boy Justin. Okay, in Spider-Man Brand New Day, Peter.
Parker tracks down Bruce Banner, who is. now a professor at Empire State. University lecturing about sexy, thrilling topics like lattice quantum. chromodynamics. He says, "Through. lattice chromodynamics, we can arrange. time and space in a grid, which allows. us to simulate the quarks binding into. the protons." Then, Bruce gets. immediately interrupted by a question. from Cindy. We think it's Cindy Moon. about the Avengers battle with Thanos in. Avengers Infinity War. She says, "If. Thanos was so worried about. overpopulation, why didn't he just use. the magic glove to make more food?" So,
right away this is reintroducing us to. Bruce Banner with the question of. Thanos's snap. Remember that. After. class, Bruce and Peter discuss Bruce's. wrist inhibitor device and how it works. by targeting specific mRNA replication. and silencing certain genes. In Bruce's. case, dispersing the gamma radiation. that comes from his DNA in order to keep. his flesh from turning into the green. Hulk body. Basically, to suppress that. mutation expression. Banner warns Peter. that any such automatic universal. mutating gene inhibitor device would be. extremely dangerous. Basically, Bruce.
Banner is the Albert Einstein of the MCU. warning the J. Robert Oppenheimer about. the invention of something that could. change everything. In this case, a. mutant inhibitor collar that I think we. will see applied by anti-mutant forces. throughout the mutant saga. Jean Grey. inhabits Bruce Banner and breaks his. inhibitor device causing him to turn. into a smart Hulk form to break into the. DODC building downtown. Jean struggles. to do this going into some headaches. that don't normally happen when she. inhabits regular folks. And it's because. there is an additional identity being. suppressed in Hulk's subconscious that.
of Savage Hulk. So, even when Banner. forces Jean out of his mind, it was. actually the doing of that other. identity who takes back over and. transitions Banner into the OG Savage. Hulk. >> No Banner, only Hulk. >> Spider-Man struggles to contain Savage. Hulk in this thrilling fight as Peter's. new inhibitor chip won't stick to Hulk's. thick skin. But, Peter does get some. hits using Shocker's gauntlet or as the. DODC calls it Gauntlet X. And Hulk. breaks that gauntlet and nearly crushes. Peter, but Peter helps Hulk remember who.
he is. And it seems as though Savage. Hulk remembers that Peter Parker is. Spider-Man that this Savage Hulk mind. was unaffected by Doctor Strange's. memory wipe spell and Hulk lets go and. allows himself to fall. Hulk reverts to. his human form and as Banner is wheeled. away by paramedics, he asks, "Was anyone. hurt? Was it just me? Was anyone hurt?". And that's the last we see of Banner. until the later scene when Ned watches a. news report about this and the reporter. says, "The Hulk aka Doctor Bruce Banner. is in custody currently being. transferred to a psychiatric ward after.
years as a peaceful academic. The. question the world asks today is what. finally snapped?" Now, fun detail here. on Ned's screen on his right, he's. watching The Empire Strikes Back. specifically the scene where the AT-AT. collapses on Hoth after Luke Skywalker. trips it with the tow cables. that Peter. Parker referenced in Captain America: Civil War when he tripped Ant-Man's. giant form in the same way. And while. watching the Bruce Banner news report, Ned says, "So sad." And he wipes away a. tear. So, a psychiatric ward? That's not. a fair fate for an esteemed Avenger or a.
professor at Empire State University. It's also not much of a realistic. sentence, nor is it where Bruce Banner. is actually going, in my opinion. Spend. long enough on YouTube and you'll find. yourself watching security cam footage. of burglars caught in action, and this. is one of my favorites. Don't worry, it. has a happy ending. It starts out pretty. standard, creepy guy lurking around. somebody's back door, snooping around. But then, once the SimpliSafe, the. sponsor of today's video, Active Guard. kicks in, the AI connects the camera to. a live monitoring agent who lets the. burglar know they've been spotted.
>> You're being monitored and recorded by. SimpliSafe. How may I help you? >> Instant karma and a safe home to boot. That's the difference with SimpliSafe. Other home security setups only react. after someone has broken in. SimpliSafe. is built to help prevent the crime. before it happens. SimpliSafe is super. easy to set up. There's no wires or. sensors you have to deal with. You can. do it all yourself in 30 minutes. Plus, SimpliSafe is designed with your privacy. in mind. You're in complete control over. when your cameras record. The footage. they record is encrypted, and your.
footage will not be shared with law. enforcement unless required by law. Also, you won't be saddled with a. long-term contract. No wonder SimpliSafe. has been named best home security system. by U.S. News & World Report for 5 years. in a row. SimpliSafe monitoring and. deterrence plan start around $1 a day. And if you click the link in the. description, you could get 50% off. You. can't put a price on peace of mind, but. if you could, a dollar a day is a great. deal. If you want security, not. surveillance, go to. simplisafe.com/newrockstars.
to get 50% off your system. The only way. Bruce Banner could stay in any kind of. custody or psychiatric care would be if. Peter Parker gave the DODC and other. authorities his proprietary inhibitor. chip technology. Remember, we saw Peter. make two chips in this movie. One he. kept for himself, and the other one he. wanted to stick on Jean Grey. That for a. time he was trying to latch onto Bruce. Banner, but at the time of Bruce's. detainment, that chip was on Jean. Now, later the DODC appears to have. reverse-engineered the chip for Jean, but the final act of this movie all.
happens relatively fast. After Jean and. Banner's arrests, Peter immediately. swings back to the boat with MJ, and. then there's a breakup scene, and then. right after that they go hang out with. Ned, and during that conversation Peter. realizes that Metzger lied, and then he. immediately goes to rescue Jean from the. Roosevelt Island DODC facility. That all. goes down within like 12 hours. So, I. don't think the DODC would have had time. to build like a third chip. So, that. means that Bruce Banner was taken to. wherever he is chipless. No chips on. this guy. He's just kind of freeballing. it. And so, the only way these. authorities would have felt comfortable.
to contain someone with Bruce Banner's. powerset without any inhibitor tech on. him would be in two locations that we. know about, or perhaps another one that. we don't. The first option is the DODC. supermax detention center in Yucca. Valley, California in the desert, seen. in She-Hulk and in Wonderman. This. facility was able to contain Emil. Blonsky, aka Abomination. The second. option is the Raft from Captain America: Civil War and last seen in Captain. America: Brave New World, which is. currently containing the Red Hulk, former President Thaddeus Ross. Now, of. course the Raft wasn't previously under.
the jurisdiction of Damage Control, but. I just would not be surprised if this. government agency was given authority. over that facility now. So, I think the. story that Ned heard on the news was. just a cover story given by the DODC to. the media in order to keep Yelena Belova. or Sam Wilson or Scott Lang or Shang-Chi. from trying to go get Banner released. But whether it's the Yucca Valley prison. or the Raft or a third location, like. maybe Nick Fury's space station for. example, or just some place we don't. know about yet, obviously Banner isn't. going to stay in that prison forever. So, let's look at the second line in the.
news report. The question the world asks. today is, "What finally snapped?" You. don't write a line like that into a. Marvel movie when it comes to Bruce. Banner in the MCU. He's one of three. characters and the only one left alive. who has snapped all six Infinity Stones. That's why I think this movie also. included Cindy Moon asking this one. individual with experience with this. cosmic transition how that. decision-making logic worked. I think. the reason this movie presents Bruce. Banner as Einstein to the J. Robert. Oppenheimer of anti-mutant technology is.
to thematically connect the mutants, people born with their genetic. condition, the mutant gene or the X. gene, to the mutates, people born. normally whose DNA was altered sometime. after their birth by some kind of. radiation exposure into their. bloodstream like Peter Parker and Bruce. Banner. And in doing this, they make. Bruce Banner and Tony Stark the kind of. tinkering madmen whose actions kicked. off both the Multiverse Saga and the. Mutant Saga with the snaps. Banner. snapping everyone who dusted back into. existence and Stark making the sacrifice. play to snap Thanos and his forces out. of existence. If Marvel Studios is going.
to point to any trigger event as the. cause of the sudden activation of mutant. genes in 0.5% of the population of this. universe, and I will admit that is an. if. The studio could just say the. arrival of the mutants was brought on by. like a natural evolutionary process. And. if they do say that, boring. But if they. point to a trigger event that changed. everything to explain why mutants were. super rare and virtually nonexistent in. the MCU before Endgame, but starting to. emerge now with Jean Grey and probably. others, then pointing to the biggest.
Marvel movie of all time, the movie. everyone saw, would be the smartest and. most straightforward plan. I mean, after. all, it was Stark and Banner's madness. that invented Ultron. So, it'd just be. really straightforward for this. franchise to say, "Hey, remember when. Iron Man and Hulk snapped in Endgame? That also woke up mutants." And by. making Stark and Banner the ones who did. that, it links everything with the. future in the Mutant Saga with. everything in the past in the Infinity. Saga. And it gives Bruce Banner an. ongoing elder statesman role to play in. the Mutant Saga going forward. In this.
movie, Bruce Banner warns Peter, "How. would you decide well what parts of. nature are good or bad? What if you're. trying to control the expression of. something that needs to be expressed? I. mean, is that not the core thematic. question of the mutant saga? So, how. will Hulk escape whatever DODC prison. he's in? Let's flip a coin here and just. theorize that between the raft and the. Yucca Valley desert prison, considering. there was just a massive breakout from. that Yucca Valley facility in the final. scene of Wonderman, authorities would be. more likely to put Banner in the raft, the same place where they're keeping the. former president Red Hulk. The raft is.
far more secure. It's in the middle of. the ocean. I'm not the first person to. theorize this, but when Battleworld. forms at the end of Doomsday, maybe one. of the things that Doctor Doom. transports from Earth-616 to preserve. this one container of enhanced beings. that he wants to populate his new. Latverian world, aka Battleworld, with. would be the raft. Maybe this raft. facility is used by some of the. survivors of Earth-616 as a literal life. raft. So, I think either way, this could. show us how Hulk could return and how he. would just be more prominently featured. in Avengers: Secret Wars when the raft.
arrives at what the Avengers call. Battleworld. at this point, I'm sure. you've seen the Hulk Village concept. art. I think some version of that will. be part of Battleworld, and this Banner, freed from his raft container cell and. with no inhibitor technology, will end. up living in his most natural form that. he takes whenever he spends years in a. hostile environment, as we saw on Sakaar. in Thor: Ragnarok, and that is his. Savage Hulk state. So, finally, let's. return to what Bruce was lecturing. about. Remember, he said, "Through. lattice chromodynamics, we can arrange. time and space in a grid, which allows.
us to simulate the quarks binding into. the protons." Lattice QCD is a branch of. theoretical physics that uses 3D color. mapping to visualize the gluons that. hold subatomic particles together. I. feel like Bruce Banner's lecturing about. the same kind of quantum physics math. that Reed Richards is calculating over. in his 828 universe, the kind of physics. that Doctor Doom has already mastered. I. think Doom has already practically. arranged time and space into a grid to. do what he is doing in Doomsday. Actually, there was a detail that I. neglected to mention in the weeks before. all the Doomsday news dropped, the week.
of San Diego Comic-Con, when Kevin Feige. appeared at Billy Billy World in. Shanghai, one of the expo displays for. Avengers: Doomsday showed Reed Richards'. chalkboards from the movie. And among. those equations, you can see Reed's. calibration list for some machine he's. building to try to stave off incursions. On the list, we see on-site heat capture. arrays, checked. Space dissipation field. generator, checked. On-site atmospheric. stabilizers, not checked. Magnetosphere. reinforcers, not checked. Geothermic. sinks, checked. Crustal energy deposits,
not checked. And momentum transfer. regulator, checked. I mean, these kind. of sound like propulsive cannons that. Reed is building on these multiple. Earths with different instruments to. sustain the major structural elements of. each Earth, which would include the. atmosphere, its momentum, its crust, its. core electromagnetic field, its heat, its gravity, all to stop these Earths. from colliding with another Earth, and. like to absorb and redirect the impact. So, in Avengers: Secret Wars, I think. Reed Richards working together with. Bruce Banner, building on the. mathematics and science that I've.
discussed in this video, will provide. the technological process by which. Reed's son, Franklin Richards, can use. his mutant magic to rebuild that Varyon. into the restored 616 Earth. I think. it's all going to start when Bruce. Banner survives the events of Doomsday. in the raft that the DODC actually just. imprisoned him in and starts whatever. civilization he likes in that Varyon, and then becomes the godfather of the. mutants in the mutant saga.
