More. than 25 years after the original movie, the Wayne's family returns to the. franchise that they've helped turn into. a comedy spectacle with a sequel or. maybe we call it a reboot, a reboot. sequel, a rebukele. They call it a. rebooty call in the movie. This movie is. very meta, very ridiculous, very gross, and packed with a buttload of pop. culture spoofs and references. From. horror movie classics and blockbuster. movies today to the celebrity cameos and. the out-of- pocket jokes, this movie. never stops referencing something. So. today we're breaking down every parody,

every callback, every reference, and. every Easter egg that we caught. So. let's get into it. All right, let's get into this. The movie takes place in New York and. actually opens with Tiana Taylor. When. she takes a shot, she exclaims, "Vivola. Revolution." A line that we all famously. know from her latest Academy. Award-winning movie, One Battle After. Another. Tiana Taylor is served at the. bar by Carmen Electra, who has appeared.

in Scary Movies first movie, paring Drew. Barry Moore's character in the original. film. Then again in Scary Movie 4 as the. blind woman, Holly, in the village. spoof, and now in Scary Movie 6 as the. bartender. Both she and Tiana make light. of being the movie's opening star cameos. where Carmen says, "Been there, done. that." At the beginning of the film, Tiana is lured outside by a mysterious. caller only to discover it's Ghostface. She calls in some backup to help beat. his ass. But Ghost Face fires back with. a brutal reminder that she still didn't. win the Oscar for one battle after. another. And as we know, that year's. Academy Award instead went to Amy. Madigan for weapons. Tiana quickly.

points out that she still took home the. Golden Globe, which to be fair, she did. We're then taken to Tuesday, which is. clearly a spoof of Wednesday, who's. played by Jenna Ortega. In this movie, she and Sarah are clearly spoofing the. sister dynamic between Melissa Barrera's. character and Jenna Ortega from the. latest screens. Her opening scene. mirrors Drew Barrymore's iconic phone. call from the original Scream movie as. well. After the Ghost Face attacks her, we're introduced to Sarah and her. boyfriend Jack. Sarah is the classic. horror girl overwhelmed with mommy. issues, while Jack is the suspicious. boyfriend. He's very clearly riffing off. of Jack Quaid on Scream 5, and they.

compare him to other famous serial. killers like Ted Bundy and Jeffrey Dmer. throughout the story just to emphasize. that he's definitely the killer. The two. work at an incredibly unsafe amusement. park called Final Destination Extreme. Theme Park, a clear spoop to Final. Destination 3, where a group of teens. escaped a deadly roller coaster accident. on grad night. When Sarah finds out her. sister was attacked by Ghost Face, she. assumes it's Ghostface killer of the. Wuang clan. And I feel like they've had. to make that joke before cuz that's. crazy to not make that joke. Next, we're. taken to Woodsville High. Given that. Woodsboro is the iconic hometown of.

Screams franchise, Woodsville is just a. playoff riff of that same name. It's. here that we're reunited with Brenda and. her kids who are a spoof of the twins. Chad and Mindy Meeks from the other. Scream movies. More importantly though, Brenda has fully transformed into Ma, which she plays into the entire movie. She never changes character. When Brenda. learns her son has a girlfriend who is a. spoof of Amber Freeman from Scream 5, she immediately calls the girl a hoe. Then the girl actually arrives and. Brenda acts like nothing happened and. this is a direct call back to the. original Scary Movie movie when Brenda. is talking [ __ ] about Buffy behind her. back before instantly switching when she.

shows up. The girlfriend comments that. Brenda is giving off Octavia Spencer. vibes, and Brenda's like, "I should make. her one of my [ __ ] pies." And this is a. reference to The Help, where Octavia. Spencer's character famously served a. pie with poop in it. The scene also. takes a jab at Kanye here. The kids. explain that they're currently learning. about racism from a book written by. Kanye West, which shows him wearing a. clan hood on the cover. And this is a. reference to the time that Kanye wore. that black clan hood. And the joke also. pokes fun at the references Kanye's made. in the past about slavery being a choice. because he's a idiot. Then Lachlan. Monroe returns, but this time as Sheriff.

Greg. His son is spoofing Wes's. character in Scream 5, whose mom was. Judy the Sheriff. So Greg is spoofing. Judy here. We then transition to this. house completely ready for war, and it's. revealed to be Anna Ferris's Cindy's. house. It's definitely a spoof of Lorie. Strode in 2018's Halloween movie. Her. home is completely overrun with security. cameras, weapons, and everything else. because in that movie, she overmed her. house in case Michael ever returned. But. in this context, it's Ghost Face. Also, you can see a bunch of mannequins in the. background. And in Halloween's 2018. movie, she would shoot those on her. property, too. She's an absolutely.

terrible mother who hasn't seen her. children in like 6 years. But Sarah and. Jack track her down, hoping to learn. from the horror she survived, which. prompts her to say that Scary Movie 3. and Scary Movie 4 gave her a bunch of. money to return. And that's just a meta. reference to the fact that the Wayne's. family was not involved with the. sequels. It's one of the several jokes. throughout the film taking shots at the. scary movies of the past that the Ways. had no hand in. There's a flashback to. show just how poor of a mother Cindy. was, and this is the spoof of Terrifier. 3. Behind Cindy is Michael Levy, a. producer from the Terrifier movies, who. also played Will the Exterminator, and.

Felissa Rose from Terfire 2 and. Sleepaway Camp. She's also holding a bag. that instead of Macy's says Gasey's and. has a clown on it for John Wayne Gasey. What I love about this moment is how. closely it does mirror the original. scene while spoofing it. In the movie, the little girl is dressed in a green. dress, but like an elf, and her mom. isn't paying attention to her at first. because she's on her phone. Then, as. this clown covered in blood and looking. absolutely nothing like Santa starts. handing out presents, the parents do. absolutely nothing and they just stand. there and let their kids get excited. However, instead of the kids unwrapping. gifts of body parts like in the trailer, a child unfortunately, you know, opens a.

bomb in that movie. So, I guess this is. not as bad as that movie. The children. in the front are also more of the. Waynees family relatives. This little. girl is Axel July Ivory Wes. Back with. the teens at the high school, the. brother suddenly yells for another. football player to catch a pass. But. instead of a clean throw, he ends up. pegging a random girl directly in the. back of her head. And this moment just. reminds me of Cindy in Scare Movie 2, where a similar gag plays out. >> Hey Cindy, think fast. >> This is where we meet Shorty, a 25th.

year super senior who's somehow still. attending high school. Despite that, he's managed to carve out a career as an. influencer and streamer, riding high on. crypto wins one moment and crashing on. the next. When he arrives, he does the. iconic shorty laugh as well. We then. transition to Ry, who is driving the. same kind of jalapy from Sinners, and. the scene spoofs the film's. introduction, but instead he plugs the. car into an electric charging station, and the station is even called Woke. Watts. Inside the church, we find Brenda. and the preacher, played by comedian. Charlie Teli. And when Ray goes in for a. hug, there's this gross gag where he.

sticks his finger in the guy's butt and. pulls it out and like a suction noise. comes out and then he says, "My bad.". And this is a callback to this original. scary movie scene. >> Hey. >> Oh, my bad. >> The movie riffs on the scene from. Sinners, but instead of Sammy repenting. for sinful blues music, Ray is repenting. for being gay, dramatically insisting. he's not gay anymore, only to spiral. into a series of exaggerated and. stereotypical gay activities. This. sequence is a parody of that viral. testimony where the man was like, "I'M. NOT GAY NO MORE. I am delivered." And. it's staged almost shot for shot,

including the same suit. At one point, an example of things he won't do anymore. is the silence of the lamb's bit and. dancing in front of a mirror naked. He. even hawkked towards the mic. Meanwhile, Sarah visits her sister Tuesday in the. hospital where she takes her morphine. and jokes that it gets her higher than. Britney Spears dancing around with. knives. And that's when we're introduced. to Nurse Ratchet, which is a double joke. here. a call back to nurse Ratchet from. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest while. also playing on, you know, her being. just Ratchet. When she starts dying. after Sarah not only steals her. medication, but also messes up the. medical supplies in the room, Ratchet. yells, "I can't let this white girl die.

on my watch. I'm the DEI hire." And we. get the joke here. We get the joke in. America. It's very meta. We got it. Ghost Face then calls Sarah and says he. knows her little secret to which Sarah. fires back saying she wasn't doing the. Nazi salute. She was just waving to a. crowd. And this is just a reference to. Elon Musk in his Nazi salute waving. controversy. Ghost Face then chases her. through the hospital. And this is a. spoof of Scream 5 when she's running. through the hospital screaming for help. Ratchy refuses to help because she's on. break, so are the other doctors. But. there's an extra funny detail. The guy. here with a plate, has seven hot dogs, which is a call back to weapons. We then.

transition to Doofy, who's essentially a. COVID era like Recluse still living in. lockdown. When he hears someone outside, it's Sarah asking for help, but he. initially refuses. Then she says, "But. I'm white." He even asks, "How white?". And she replies, "Candace Owens white.". And I don't think we need to explain. that reference, but you know, Candace. Owens famously just ain't team black. On. the news, we see Gail Hailtorm reporting. and returning on fake news, a spoof of. Fox News where she aggressively delivers. more stupid commentary. Doofy being. Doofy is giving a lot of characteristics. in this moment to not trust Jack the.

Boyfriend. But it's really just. describing Doofy himself because he's. accidentally looking in the mirror and. describing himself physically, which I. feel like calls back to the first movie. where Dofy actually ended up being one. of the killers. Now at Brenda's house, above Brenda's fireplace, there's a. memorial plaque for Shorty, a red aball, and a golden bong. Above it is a photo. of Shorty from the first Gear movie. yelling. [screaming]. Morning, Cindy says, "My old friend, you. taught me how to dance." Referring to. this scene. And then she goes on to say, "You taught me how to make a high pie.". Which refers to this scene from the.

first movie. This scene also altogether, the sequence calls back to Scream 5 with. Randy Meeks's memorial at his sister's. house. Cindy keeps reacting to people. smiling at her. And her spoof throughout. a lot of the movie returns to the movie. Smile, and we'll see it play out a. little more later with Bobby, but for. right now, she smashes a lamp over. Doofy's head, and Shorty records it. instantly screaming world star, which is. a very old reference, but we all get it. Back with Brenda, she brings out shots, and this is very Ma energy. And this is. a reunion for her and Cindy as well. As. we see in every movie, something happens.

to Brenda. She usually dies and returns. in the next movie like nothing even. happened. It's always a reunion for her. and Cindy when they reunite because. Cindy always believes that she died. Brenda mentions how she knows what being. cool is, referencing how she literally. went to diddy parties, which isn't. unheard of. In the first movie, Brenda. mentions she'd go to diddy parties. >> My friend Shawn had a pool party this. summer. >> Sean, you know, Puff Daddy. >> They claim that Jack is the killer, and. they offer Dofy is also the most. questionable person out of all of them, seeing as though he was the killer in. the first movie and still here. But he. says he was pardoned and released from.

jail as one of the January 6ers. and he. shares a photo where he's the QAnon. shaman. They make a joke comparing this. situation to I Know What You Did Last. Summer, which was the original spoof. focus for the first movie. Then they. contrast their own legacy sequel with. the I Know What You Did Last Summer's. franchise. And the younger characters. just don't know what that movie is and. instead ask if they mean the summer I. turned pretty, which is the Amazon. series. June's prime barbecue season. Greg is reviewing evidence in a folder. that includes a photo of him from the. first movie where he had a tiny little. wiener. It returns. As he heads out for. the day, he gets a call from Ghostface. who ask him what's his favorite movie.

And he responds with saltburn, referencing how that reveal with Barry. Kyogan hanging dong like that was the. scariest part of the movie, which he's. just, you know, jealous. He has a he has. a tiny wiener. After killing Sheriff. Greg, Ghostface turns his attention to. his son, who insists he's not home. alone. The plumber, the gardener, and. the pool guy are all there with him. And. that's when it's revealed that they're. actually being abducted by Ice. You get. the meta part of it. There's another bit. in the movie where Ghost Face is seen. through the family's ring cameras, so. his old techniques would just never work. today. But the bits played up with him. being caught stealing Amazon packages.

like people constantly are today, only. to find colorful smoke bombs inside. instead of stolen goods. Ghost Face. ultimately kills the teen and outside. the police sealed house, influencers are. already filming content at the scene of. the tragedy. This just kind of pokes fun. at how quickly disasters or just bad. timings are turned into social media. moments. One of these people is also an. Only Fans creator. I don't know why. she's there. This is where Gail Hailtorm. arrives wearing Gail's red blazer from. the movies. There's also a joke aimed. here at Courtney Cox, who plays Gail. Weathers in the Scream franchise. When. Sarah says she looks familiar, she. replies that it's because she resembles.

the original actress, just shorter with. a lot less Botox. That's when she's. reunited with Dofy, the man that she ran. off with in the first movie. He greets. her with the nickname Gail Swallows, which he gave her in the first movie. And she responds by sucking his finger, which is a reoccurring gag from the. original movie as well. She also uses. this moment to make a joke about her. past of using sex to get what she wants, saying she doesn't do that anymore. because me too, which we know the. movement. We get the bit. Then we cut to. Shorty smoking weed in the middle of the. night when a black man in his underwear. runs toward him, then makes a sharp turn. and this is calling back to the scene.

and get out when the grandpa is running. in the middle of the night. Then we get. more get out where Shorty sinks into the. sunken place and like the cotton. surrounding the chair. It's a call back. to the moment when Chris pulls the. cotton from the chair to block his ears. He tells this horrific story about his. mom having sex and comparing what she. does basically like to a tsunami and. drowning a man. And he uses the analogy. of him turning into like the creature. from the shape of water. Inside his. sunken place, we get spoof involving. K-pop demon hunters alongside a stoner. parody of Up featuring Shorty sleeping.

with Huntrix. It's horrid. I hate every. part of this. In this version, he even. has his own branded ramen. Back at the. hospital that specifies it's been. treating Ghostface victims since 2000, the year of the first scary movie, Bobby. returns and he's wrapped up in a smile. spoof where he just can't stop smiling. While in the hospital, Tuesday is. watching TV. And this is where we get a. Michael spoof trailer with Kenan. Thompson and it takes us to Frotown. Studios and you think it's spoofing. Michael, but then it's actually revealed. to be spoofing Germaine. And genuinely, this is the funniest bit in the entire. movie. The movie drops also on Junth,

which ridiculous. When Jack shows up, he's oddly wearing gloves, and Tuesday. questions it since it mirrors something. like a killer would wear, and he claims. it's part of his OJ costume, but she. points out that the gloves actually fit. And this is just a reference to the. famous, "If the glove don't fit, you. must have quit." OJ's gloves didn't fit. him. Once inside, Ghostface threatens. he'll gutter like a pig, which is a play. off the original Scream movie where they. threaten to gutter like a fish. >> You hang up on me again, I'll gut you. like a fish. That was also a play from. the original Scary Movie as well when. Shorty's prank calling people and he. says, "I'm going to gut you like a.

>> When Doofy and Sarah finally arrive, Sarah's consoling Tuesday, who is. balling and screaming on the floor.". Sarah then tells her, "It's a horror. movie. Stop the dramatics. You're not. going to win an Oscar. Ask Demi Moore, who deserved it for the substance. I. will be honest with that." Dofy takes on. Ghostface alone and tells him to smell. his finger. And when he asks, "What was. that?" he replies, "My ass." Which is. something he constantly did in the first. movie. throw my finger. What the hell is. that? My ass. >> Then we're with Shorty who is streaming. and his stream is sponsored by Angry. Orchard. And this scene is actually.

very, very funny. This is when they. reveal that their special guest is to be. the real streamer, Kaisenette. He gets a. call from Ghostace on stream who comes. in dancing his ass off and it's so. [ __ ] funny. At this point, he has the. what's up Ghost Face mask. They play the. noodle game, which is a real game played. on Kai's streams. And then we transition. into a longlegg spoof. Chris Elliott. returns and he has his little hand from. the second movie. After they arrest. Shorthand, we move into a spoof of the. substance where Gail is getting work. done to look newer and younger. Gail. asks, >> "Isn't that Gwennneth Poutro crap that. makes you smell like her vage? Is it?".

>> Which is a reference to, you know, the. vagina candles. Once injected with the. stuff, she starts changing and she falls. onto the ground and a hand reaches out. of her spine with the Epstein files. Then her younger self is revealed to be. Marlin's character in White Chicks. Back. at the hospital, Cindy is chasing after. Sarah and apologizing while shouting, "This isn't something you can run from.". It follows and you get it like the. movie. It follows. She acknowledges it's. the kind of movie that would normally. warrant a flashback like all the other. ones did. But she jokes that it's too. obscure for anyone to understand, which.

I disagree with. I love that movie. Then. when Sarah starts yelling, "What are you. waiting for?" challenging Ghost Face, Cindy schools her on the real way to do. it. And she does the spinning shot from. the original movie when she yells to the. sky asking, "What are you waiting for?". WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? HUH? >> [music]. >> What are YOU WAITING FOR? >> WHAT AM I WAITING FOR? >> WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? [screaming]. >> YOU. >> MEANWHILE, Shorty is saying Candyman in. the mirror five times and it conjures. Candyman, but instead of a hook-handed. killer, he's a drug dealer lurking.

through the holes in the walls. He's got. Bro, Sandworm, aka a dune themed drug, and Rock does nuts for Project Hail Mary. at the Halloween party. Now, Brenda's. still Ma. Shorty isn't really dressed up. and Ray is a cowboy, but specifically. Jake Gyllenhaal and Brokeback Mountain. because yay. We learn that the stoner. goods that Shorty just got were. accidentally handed out by Brenda to. kids trick-or-treating leading into the. weapon spoof. The clock hits 217 and the. high children begin running down the. street in a chaotic sequence that. mirrors the opening of the movie. They're yelling different things as they.

run with their arms back. One says, "I'm. on that Naruto shit." And another one. yells, "67" before being hit by a car. Meanwhile, on the subway, this is the. scene that we got from the trailer. This. scene is spoofing scream six when the. kids are on the subway amongst a lot of. IPs. You get Michael pin head, even. small connections to Jordan peels us. We. have Jason instead of the red triangle. on the forehead, he has the red sad. face. We have Bubba, leather face with. his misformed face mask and apron with a. tie. We then see a flash of the hard. eyes killer from Hard Eyes released last. year. We got Megan doing what Megan does.

best. Next to Chucky is Michael Myers on. the right and Jigsaw on the left. Jigsaw. was the whole focus of scary movie 4. >> I want to play a game. >> I I don't get it. >> Okay. >> There are a few other funnyl looking. costumes like a guy holding a pickaxe, which could be poking fun at My Bloody. Valentine, and the man next to him is. wearing a reflective black trench coat. and a black hat, which might be a spoof. of I Know What You Did Last Summer. The. Subway also runs from Woodsville to Elm. Street, a clear nod to The Nightmare on. Elm Street. And Woods Bro, you know, is.

the town from the Scream franchise, so. Woodsville. In the background, you'll. see a poster that also says, "Okay, bloomer florist." And then we'll get an. equally corny pronoun and feminist and. other anti- thing jokes. >> My god, he stands her, not her. My pronouns are they, them. >> Then we cut to a center spoof mimicking. when the vampires first tried to enter. the juke joint. They're doing their own. rendition of the Jefferson's intro, and. it is bad. They instead decide to sneak. in through the back where Jack does the. Cynthia Revo Alphaba riff from Wicked.

just to break the glass. Later, Shorty is playing Dead by. Daylight with the ghost face skin, which. you can actually do if you really want. to. After getting extremely stoned, they. realize quickly who the killers really. are. And this is when Cindy comes in as. John Wick. Outside of the house with. Brenda, Brenda comments on her John Wick. spoof, saying she would have called her. ballerina, but no one saw that spin-off. When she asked Brenda what she thinks. about the bad girl pretending to be. injured, Brenda launches into a rant.

about how she thinks Kendrick won the. beef against Drake, even bringing up. Drake's weird, crazy, whack as hell. lawsuit. Finally, Cindy enters the house. and is running through a ton of random. ghost face, just killing all of them. like John Wick style. In the fight, she. uses the dildos, and I feel like that's. a spoof of everything everywhere all at. once. We then move into the kitchen. sequence where we're directly calling. back to the iconic reveal from the. Scream movie and the killer reveal in. the original scary movie. The reveal. lands on Anthony Anderson who has. appeared alongside Kevin Hart across the. franchise, but in a twist, Kevin Hart is.

actually Shaquille O'Neal. Shaq himself. even makes a brief link here because he. had a cameo in Scary Movie 4 alongside. Dr. Phil, who yes indeed is weird. Two. more Ghost Face are then revealed to be. Ray and Shorty. And before the reveal, Ray shouts, "Wait, there's more." And. this is a nod to both Matthew Lillard's. character in Scream and his own original. character in Scary Movie revealing all. those years ago. >> But wait, there's more. >> Chaos erupts as they kill Anthony. Anderson and also Shaquille O'Neal with. them saying that they're killing Shaq. because he made Kazam. In a smaller bit,

they congratulate Anthony Anderson on. Blackish only to immediately kill him. out of spite. They also claim it's. revenge for doing Scary Movie 4 to which. he responds that he didn't know that. they were fired from the franchise. Ray. stabs him while yelling his payback for. Blackish copying an episode of the. Wayne's Bros. which Anthony Anderson. argues that no one watched their show. because it was on Warner Brothers. And I. watched every episode on Warner Brothers. maybe seven times and then I watched it. when it went to HBO. Now I can't watch. it cuz it's on BED. I'm I'm still mad. about it. I love the Ways Bro shows. I I. love it. This also calls back though to. Ray's original scary movie reveal where.

he stabs Bobby in frustration with just. how the Wayne's brother show was canled. >> Watching television shows doesn't create. psycho killers. CANCELLING TV SHOWS. DOES. THE WAY Brothers was a good show, man. >> It's then revealed that they don't want. to hand over the franchise to the. younger generation like the other series. have already done. So, they decide to. set the house on fire with the kids. still inside and walk off into the. darkness of the forest. In the mid-redit. scene, we get the long legs footage with. short hands and it's just like the. movie, but he does the iconic my germs. >> My germs, [laughter].

my germs, >> my germs. He also says fingerlicking good at one. point. Then we get another trailer for. Bros Feratu, a spoof of nose feratu, and. it comes out during Quanza and Marlin. plays Count Brolock, and that's scary. movie 6. Honestly, if you go into this. movie expecting a scary movie, you're. probably going to get exactly what. you're looking for. The Wayne's family. returns to the franchise with the same. like chaotic energy and the same. willingness to just make fun of. absolutely everybody. What's interesting.

though is that the comedy hasn't really. changed so much as it's just aged. 25. years ago, the jokes came from a younger. generation, taking shots of the world. around them. Now, the jokes come from a. much older generation, trying to make. sense of a younger one. And a lot of the. funniest moments aren't poking fun at. the horror movies. They're poking fun at. themselves, their legacy, and the fact. that they're still doing this after all. these years. Does every joke land? Absolutely not. Some bits go on too. long. Some references will probably age. overnight, and a few jokes are clearly. designed to make people uncomfortable. But that's kind of been the franchise's.

identity from the very beginning.
