you right now. Something pretty. remarkable just happened in one of the. reddest states in America. For the first. time ever, Utah generated more. electricity from solar power than from. any other energy source during the month. of May. According to new energy data, solar produced nearly 1/3 of all the. electricity generated in the state, edging out natural gas while coal fell. to third place. I want you to think. about that for a sec, cuz Utah has long. been associated with fossil fuels, but. the economics of clean energy are. changing the landscape. Experts say this. didn't happen overnight. It's the result. of years of investment in large-scale. solar projects, including massive new.

solar farms that have come online. recently, along with battery storage. that helps deliver power even after the. sun goes down. I want to highlight Grist. for their incredible reporting on this. Logan Mitchell, a climate scientist and. energy analyst with Utah Clean Energy, told Grist, quote, "Wind plus solar is. on a tear right now. We may have. achieved liftoff." And he noted how wind. and solar complement each other since. wind generation is highest in winter. months and solar produces the most. electricity in the summer. But wait, I. seem to remember that Trump said. something about countries who use wind. just the other day.

>> Any country with windmills is a loser, okay? >> Well, the good news is even red states. like Utah aren't listening to him, and. it's not just an environmental story. Energy experts say that this shift means. cleaner air, new jobs, more investment, and a stronger economy. In other words, renewable energy isn't just about. fighting climate change anymore. It's. increasingly becoming the cheaper, more. practical option that states and. businesses are choosing because it makes. economic sense. So, despite Trump's. attacks on clean energy, the market. appears to be moving in a much different. direction. Even states that aren't.

traditionally seen as clean energy. leaders are rapidly expanding solar and. wind because the tech has become more. efficient, more affordable, and more. competitive. So, this is definitely a. story worth watching because it could be. a glimpse of where America's energy. future is heading. That's the latest. Now, I want to hear from you. You know, by the way, before I did Midas. Touch, I was a civil rights litigator, and I litigated cases against some bad. cops who used excessive force. I met. lots of great cops. Lots of sheriffs and. police officers I've respected. And in. my practice, I met the bad ones, too, who I sued for engaging in excessive. force. And the good cops don't like the. bad ones. And people who are complicit with the. bad ones aren't good. This is what This. is what, you know, a lot of friends of.

mine tell me who are law enforcement. I. got a lot of law enforcement friends. And so, and and they don't wear masks, you know? Brave, courageous, they don't wear. masks. So, the glove is. you know, the latest thing they're. looking at to to help in situations. You've seen the videos in the past year. and a half, the fights on the street. where officers are overwhelmed. This.

would be a tool they can use to make. someone compliant. Now, you know, there's a lot of training involved, there's still some, you know, background, you know, um. uh issues that need to be dealt with. So, the implementation of these gloves. out in the field are going to be a. while. I think they serve a better. purpose in detention facility that where. where. uh. where where detainees get out out of. control and there's fights in the. facility. So, we'll see. The still the. the training protocol is being written. and being reviewed, then we'll see when. they get rolled out, but it's just.

another tool in the tool belt of ice. officers who are under 9,000%. increase. in death threats, an actual 1,400%. increase in actual threats. So, it's. just another tool to help, you know, those who don't want to be compliant, those who tackle all force and officers. to bring them into compliance without. using deadly force. >> Yeah, non-lethal. >> And then on state regime media Fox, they're fed up with this stuff. But during the Trump. administration, you will see a downward. trend before the administration's over. >> So, energy inflation, uh according to. the CPI, energy 4. 14.7% up. Gasoline, and obviously we we talked before the.

Iran conflicts had started. And that's. largely gasoline and fuel, but. electricity and energy overall is is up. significantly. >> Yeah, look, as you can see in that. electricity price number, that's just a. hair over the rate of inflation. Um and. it of course electricity is a. battleship. All of the new capacity. that's coming online right now was. permitted during the Biden. administration. And they only, essentially only permitted wind and.

solar, that are mostly forces to drive. up electricity prices. But we have all. sorts of massive amounts of new natural. gas generation capacity online. We have. uprates on nuclear power plants. We have. restarts of nuclear power plants. All of. the things that need to that need to. happen to stop the rise of electricity. prices, they're underway. And you've. seen announcements across many states of. multi-year freezes on electricity. prices. A few even now announced. declines. So, absolutely things are.

going in the right direction. A ton of. communities have already seen the end of. electricity price rises. And we want to. bring that across the whole country. And. we will. >> Well, Mr. Secretary, we appreciate you. coming on and answering the questions. >> And as Donald Trump claims that we. control the Strait of Hormuz, which of. course we don't, Bret Baier on state. regime media did the following report. showing that. clip. How much total oil flow averages. nearly 21 million barrels per day in the. first half of last year, equivalent to. about 20% of global petroleum liquids. consumption. Usually about 1/5 of the. world's liquefied natural gas trade. moves through there as well. Despite. President Trump claiming total control. over the straight, traffic has slowed. really to a trickle. If you look at. this, before the conflict more than 100. vessels a day were crossing. Monday,

eight vessels crossed. Yesterday, 14. Now, those are constraints and that's. changing the government's energy. outlook. The Energy Information. Administration raised its forecast for. the average price of a gallon of. gasoline over the full year by 14 cents. You can see right here. It also raised. its 2026 forecast for Brent crude from. $82 a barrel to $87 a barrel. And. there's another problem building as.

well. The International Energy Agency's. has global crude crude oil inventories. fell by 2.2 million barrels a day in. July. It expects a global supply deficit. of 1.8 million barrels a day in the. third quarter. That's more than double. its previous estimate. Now, let's move. west. Then you have the show on state. regime media, the Cain show, and they bring in J.D. Vance. And here.

I think the issue here, Will, is. that the Iranians sometimes make. commitments that they don't honor. They. make a deal, they don't honor the deal. And I understand your point about the. seesaw nature of this, but I think what.

that reflects is that we have a lot of. tools at our disposal to compel action. And sometimes we're focused on the. energy piece of it because we want. Americans to be able to afford the price. of oil and gas. Uh sometimes we're. obviously focused on the military nature. of it, sometimes we're focused on the. nuclear program. So, I think what what. what is really happening is that you're. seeing a president of the United States. at the height of his authority with a. lot of tools, diplomatic, military, and. economic. What I think is really going.

on from the inside is that we're using. those tools very selectively, very. strategically to get the outcome that. the president of the United States needs. to get for the benefit of the American. people. And it really is twofold. It's. ensuring that the Gulf countries. continue to send oil and gas to the. world economy so that we have energy. price stability. That's obviously. important for the American people. I. know that oil is down today, and it's. it's way down from the highs in the. early days of the conflict. That's goal.

number one. Keep oil and gas cheap for. Americans. all over our country. And then obviously. goal number two is ensure that Iran. never gets a nuclear weapon. I feel. confident we're accomplishing both of. those goals, but it's inherently an. unpredictable thing because the Iranians. themselves are unpredictable, and they. sometimes don't honor the commitments. they've made to us. >> More from the Will Cain show right here.
