Texas, Alaska, and the other races very. close as well. Democrats look poised to. flip the Senate. I've been seeing memes. like this. How it started MAGA. How it's. going MAGA. this as earlier today, Treasury Secretary Besson said that we. need to push more data centers into. communities and Besson said that the. protests that you're seeing and the fact. that Americans don't like data centers,

get this. This is what the Trump regime. is saying. It's the fault of the. Chinese, this is all Chinese propaganda. that's brainwashing Americans and the. Chinese are organizing the protests. against the data centers. Folks, this. Trump regime, it's truly comprised of. sick and demented people. Republicans on the ballot that were. happy about Donald Trump's war in Iran, but Comr's like, it was the right thing. to do, though. It was the right thing. No, it wasn't. It was a catastrophic. thing to do and it's having catastrophic. results that everybody could have. predicted. Here's what Comr saying with. President Trump. Now, I don't think. there are many Republicans on the ballot. this year that were were happy that this. is happening right before an election, but President Trump did the right thing. He didn't uh take political calculation.

into uh you know, his decision-m. He did. what was best to keep America safe. And. it's tough. It's tough when you battle. an evil empire, which is what Iran has. become, and you look at the the. territories that Iran has accumulated. over the over the past decade, and. something had to be done, and it's. tough. Uh we're all feeling, you know, some type of pain as a result of this, but hopefully in the end, history will. reflect kindly on President Trump's bold.

Yeah, the people on the ground. there, I mean the. >> Then you have MAGA Republican Congress. member Dan Mouser and he said um yeah, it's certainly not a positive situation. when it comes to the gas prices. What. price of diesel about to hit $6 a. gallon? Price of gas going to hit $5 a. gallon soon. By the way, the price per. barrel of oil will probably hit $120. soon. It's going to hit 100 soon, but. it'll probably hit 120. All the things. we were warning against, all this stuff. was predictable, but uh this MAGA.

Republican Congress members like, "But. it's Biden's fault." But Biden, Biden, okay, here play this clip. >> Talk about gas prices because we did see. gas prices hit a record high for the. Labor Day weekend. This is from AAA. $4.15 for an average gallon of regular. This does shatter the previous record of. $382 back in 2012. Congressman, we're. less than two months away from these. midterms and affordability remains a. major concern for Americans. How do you. think that these gas prices are going to. impact the midterms and how are.

Republicans going to message against. that? >> Sure. Well, it's certainly not a a. positive uh situation when it comes to. gas prices and my constituents and most. of America really wants us to finish the. job in Iran, which will help bring down. gas prices. We'll bring down fertilizer. prices uh and we can stabilize our the. affordability factor. But on the same. note, the American people remember uh. Biden administration caused a over 20%. accumulative inflation under President.

Trump. It's about 3.4%. Uh but this. thing needs to be wrapped up. Look, we. do have to own it. All right, I want to. go bring in the interview I just did. with Dr. Abdul Elsed of Michigan. He's. running for that Senate seat in. Michigan. Let's bring in my interview. with Dr. Abdul Elsed. I want to bring in Abdul El Say Sed, the. Democratic candidate for that Michigan. Senate seat. Abdul, great to see you as. always. Dr. Sed, great to see you as.

always. Um, running against Mike Rogers. He's going to be showing up to this. Trumpooa. event. Um, you know, he'll be there, arms around Donald Trump saying, "Look. how great everything is. Golden age, things are amazing." What's your. response to him showing up to that. event? >> I mean, I guess when daddy says, "Give. me a hug," you give him a hug. That's. what this is all about. And it's curious. because Mike Rogers does not want to. show up to a debate that we are. scheduled to have invited by the. Michigan Debate Commission on the 15th.

And that's because he doesn't want to. talk about the tariffs and the fact that. the median Michigan family, by the way, making $72,000 a year. He's paying 5,600. of those dollars because of those. tariffs. That's 55% more than the. national average. We are literally. paying for Donald Trump's vanity. And of. course, Mike Rogers would rather be in. Dallas telling Donald Trump how much he. loves him, than actually talking about. that. He doesn't want to talk about the. war uh that is raising our gas prices. and our diesel prices, which is raising, of course, uh the price of our. groceries. So, look, I understand why.

he'd rather be hugging Donald Trump than. having a conversation with me at a. debate in Michigan. And that's exactly. the kind of US senator that uh Mike. Rogers will be. He will answer to Donald. Trump and the corporations that buy his. soul instead of actually answering to. Michiganers. Like when you and I grew. up, I think it was a a South Park joke, blame Canada to distract from wars. Blame Canada. Remember that song that. they would play. I mean, that's really. the Trump Mike Rogers approach right now. is blame Canada. But it's not a joke. It.

is a attack on a country that's stood. shoulderto-shoulder with us. Michiganers. know uh the how great of people Canada. are. And it's just it's it's. disconcerting. It's sad. It's tragic. And it hurts the people's pocketbooks. is hurting people. Especially the. tariffs went the counter tariffs, the. retaliatory tariffs from Canada went. into effect. Talk about that and how. Mike Rogers seems to be all about, you. know, attacking Canada, you know, with. Trump. >> You know, Ben, I got to march in the. Labor Day parade with Michigan unions.

and uh several of our union sisters and. brothers came across the river from. Canada. You know, Detroit's the only. place that you can go south to get to. Canada in the whole country. and they. came across the river to march with us. because at the end of the day the the. fight for working people is the fight. for working people everywhere. These. tariffs are costing people their jobs. Now there's a form of tariffs that I. would actually agree with. It's just not. this one. And if you think of free trade. like cancer, well, you might decide to. give some chemo. The problem is if you. give the patient all the chemo all at.

once uh with no actual purpose or. intended outcome, you you kill your. patient. This is exactly what these. tariffs are. Canadians are good people. You know, we know Canadians here in. Michigan. And the only people I know who. apologize preemptively for something. they didn't even do. And so if you're. picking a trade war with Canada is cuz. you're the And well, we all. know what Donald Trump is. And Mike. Rogers does not want to talk about it. He does not want to have to answer for a. set of tariffs that he has lauded. He. said it's the right thing to do. He. called them masterful. I don't know. what's masterful about forcing. Michiganders to pay $5,600.

for policy that is raising our prices. and costing us jobs. Now, here's the the. bigger picture, though, right? Donald. Donald Trump is going uh to be the. president for the next two years and the. question for us is how much more damage. do we want to allow him to do. Mike. Rogers would be a rubber stamp on that. He's literally spent his 14 years in. Congress doing whatever it is the. corporations uh told him to do and he. literally said he's running for US. Senate because Donald Trump called him. up and asked him to do it. Uh the.

contrast could not be more clear. We're. offering a perspective that is honest. and direct about the fact that we should. not be allowing corporate money in our. politics. I want to get money out of. politics. Put money in your pocket. Pass. Medicare for all. If this guy had his. brothers, right? He he would put as much. money into politics from corporations as. he could. Right? He wants to dig money. out of your pocket by way of those. corporations or these tariffs. And if. you had his options, he'd probably have. Medicare for none. >> You know, there's so many political. pundits this message, that message. You. know, my thesis is that most American. people aren't talking about political.

messaging this or that. They're just. talking about just some some basic stuff. like normaly, care about me, fight for. me, do what you say you're going to do, make things less expensive. And so I I I. wonder how when you travel around. Michigan, there are so many people that. just see what this Trump regime is doing. and they're just like these are just bad. people. Like they've done bad things. Like I'm not approaching this from a. Republican or Democrat or independent. Like they really did bad things and I'm. hurting and I want good people who are.

going to fight for me. To me, it's. almost more more simple than that. What. are you seeing in Michigan? >> Yeah, I think you're right. I mean, a. lot of people have tried to make this. race about the future of the Democratic. party. I'm like, I'm not all that. interested in the future of the. Democratic party. I'm interested in the. future of Michiganers who deserve to. know that they're going to be able to. afford their gas, they're going to be. able to buy their groceries, that. they're going to be able to see a doctor. if they get sick, and they're going to. be able to pay taxes knowing that that. money is going to be spent on them. rather than to do stupid wars. That we. have no business fighting or subsidizing. foreign militaries. We have no business.

subsidizing. I mean, it really is that. simple. And you know, this notion of. getting money out of politics, that's. been a problem across the board in our. politics. You know, when I ran in 2018, I said this thing, Donald Trump is not. himself the disease. He's just the worst. symptom of the disease of our politics. The disease is the system that allows. billionaires, corporations, and special. interests to buy and sell politicians to. rig the system against us. I've had to. run against that both in my primary and. in the general. And the reality of it is. that people are just tired of this. They're tired of a political game. And. if Mike Rogers's only answer, he's going.

to point to me and try to make me out an. Americanb born uh high school football. captain as being uh a less than. American. I I think he's got another. thing coming because at the end of the. day, I'm not the one who moved to. Florida. I'm not the one who uh made. $14.6 million uh off the corporations. that I was regulating in Congress. I'm. not the one who bought two yachts and. I'm not the one pretending to be from. Michigan, right? I'm born and raised. here. I've been fighting for Michigan. for the past 10 years uh as a public. servant. rebuilt a health department, took on some of the biggest corporate.

polluters in our state, uh, and, uh, put. glasses on kids' faces, eliminated. medical debt, and put opioids, uh, excuse me, uh, Narcan to take on the. opioid epidemic, uh, in a 100 different. locations across our county. People know. the difference. And, you know, if you. want the guy who helped to architect. legislation uh, that helped to drive the. opioid epidemic, or then, well, that's. that's who you got in Mike Rogers. If. you want the guy uh, who put Narcan in. vending machines for free to take it on, then you have the other option. It. really is that simple. And as much as we. want to figure out what the right.

message is, uh the right message is can. I help you afford the things that you. need in your life? And I'm not bought. off by the people who are making it more. expensive. >> The the stuff they do too just also I. feel like it just makes us look so weak. Like it's it's it's loser behavior. I. mean, to see this, you know, rambling, ranting lunatic in Donald Trump and. those who surround him like the Mike. Rogers of the world, you know, as he's. posting away at 3:00 a.m. with Natalie, this meme and look at look, I'm meme of. Car Island. Look at me, here's a meme of.

me, you know, changing New Mexico to New. America. Like I know it's a distraction. machine and it's meant to distract from. the cover up of the Epstein files, the. catastrophic war, the suffering that. people are going through, but sometimes. I look at this Dr. S and I'm just like. this guy said this guy this is it. I'm. like this guy's a freaking loser and. these people are like like what what. what the hell is this? This is America, damn it. And why are they behaving like. this? >> Well, look, he's never been a serious. person. He's a carnival barker. And. what's ironic is that there are a lot of.

people around him who pretend to be. serious people and then take their. orders from a carnival barker. And. that's the wild thing, right? Like it's. one thing to be adult and an idiot. Like. that's Donald Trump. I mean, he was born. with what he was born with. But then you. got people like JD Vance and Mike Rogers. who know better. You, you know, they. read those same uh those unhinged posts. You know, they watch the memes and be. like, "God, you can't be serious." And. then they go out there and defend it as. if it's some kind of serious behavior, which to me talks of a kind of. corruption at the sole level for power.

And that's the worst thing of all. And. it's been the problem at the heart of. our politics for a really long time. Like you are asking people not to take. seriously the things that the president. of the United States is saying as a. quote very serious person. I mean, it. just doesn't it doesn't match. And the. only reason you would do it is because. he has power and you want power. And if. you want politicians who just want. power, do not be surprised when they. sell off to corporations and they sell. off to Donald Trump and they do whatever. it is he asks and you get a carnival of.

public policy. And that's exactly what. we've got right now. And we have an. option to get back to the issues that. matter. Our politics should not be a. sideshow uh and and run by a clown. Our. our politics really are about life and. death issues. Can we guarantee people. healthcare in the richest, most powerful. country in the world? Can we stop doing. stupid wars or subsidizing foreign. militaries in an America where too many. people go without the health care or the. quality schools that they need? Those. are the questions we ought to be. solving. And we need politicians who are. serious about solving them. You know, the Trump regime likes to make lots of.

accusations against lots of people and. they want to turn this race into. communism. This I I go look at their. behavior. some of the most recent stuff. they want to create like a Trump oil. company within the defense department to. work with Deli Rodriguez in Venezuela to. prevent any future elections because. none of our private businesses really. view it as being fully investable. And. then they have stuff that they in. addition to all the equity stakes and. all of the companies that they took. But. you listen to all their cabinet, it's. like we should only have one Barbie or. two pencils. You should have one half.

piece of meat and three pieces of. broccoli for people. And then the most. recent one that I heard was energy. secretary Chris Wright. He was like, uh, you need to drive a lot less. That's. what we got to do right now because this. is a war that every American wants. So, we need to drive less now. That's the. game. Did you hear him make comments. like that? Like, I want to That's the. way that's our plan to lower gas prices. Everybody just needs to drive less. Trump time. Here's here's the amount of. time you're allowed to drive in the. Trump regime. This is crazy stuff. What. What do you make of their broader.

framing contradictory nature? And then. what respond to Secretary Wright's uh. statement? >> You know, their whole argument is that. well, when if you elect these people who. really want to bring down the price of. your gas and groceries, well, we're. going to have communism. Uh and it's. going to they're going to ration. everything. But meanwhile, you should be. rationing everything because uh we've. fought this war that's way too expensive. and it's raising your gas prices. I. mean, look, gas prices were at an. all-time high. The highest they've been. during Labor Day since 2012. Since 2012.

And here we are and we're paying for the. combination of a hot war in Iran that. everybody knew we should never have. gotten into. All the generals understood. what the consequences would be and Trump. did anyway at the behest of a foreign. government and a trade war that is. fundamentally about his vanity with a. head of state in a neighboring country. with whom we've had peace since the. beginning of both of our countries. I. mean, it's just it like the the whole. thing, it just reeks of a kind of.

hypocrisy that's laughable if you didn't. have to be paying for it. And that's the. thing about it is that most Michiganders. when I'm up and down my state, like I've. been to 550 public events, 110 different. cities now. I've gone everywhere and. most of the time people are just looking. at this and be like, "Look, I feel like. I'm working twice as hard to get half as. far." And the reality of it is that's. the case. And it's because this. administration and frankly our politics. generally have allowed the biggest. corporations to take you on and squeeze.

you on two fronts. They squeeze you by. raising prices because they can collude. with one another because we have. functional monopolies and igopies. And. then they squeeze you when it comes to. wages because they're the only places. you can work if you do certain kinds of. jobs. I I've been on four uh different. actions by nurses unions because uh. they're dealing with the fact that uh. big hospitals are buying up their local. hospital and then trying to put huge. workloads on them uh at the same wage. We got to be able to take them on. And. the reality of it is that sometimes, you.

know, we talk about the the deficit in. democracy. We talk about the real danger. of people like Mike Rogers and Donald. Trump denying the outcomes of elections. uh or suppressing freedom of speech. And. those are really dangerous things. But. there's another way that that we have a. a risk to our democracy. It's that it. doesn't work to actually solve the. problems you have. And we've got to get. serious. We've got to get serious about. being able to offer a a true contrast to. this. That is about lowering prices and. raising wages. And that means fighting. for unions. That means taking on.

monopolies and igopies. That means. rejecting corporate money and corporate. power in our politics. And that means. stepping up for everyday people. That's. what we're doing on this race. That's. why they've gotten so frustrating, right? That I mean, you you look at the. campaign against me, it is like the most. unserious campaign you have ever seen. I. mean, that their whole argument is to. point at me and be like, "But he's. Muslim, though." Like, "Yeah, I'm. Muslim." like like millions of Americans. who really want to be able to pay lower. gas prices and lower costs for groceries. and to see a doctor like people who are.

Jewish and Christian and atheist and. Hindu and sick because implorous unum. has to mean something. And right now the. thing that's bringing us together is. damn those groceries are too expensive. and gas is unaffordable and what the. hell is the president doing trying to. put drapes in a ballroom we shouldn't be. building? >> Yeah. I mean the point of we have to. there's a time and a place for. entertainment and enjoyment and but. there is also a time and a place to be. very serious and these are life and.

death war and peace matters that really. impact people's lives. This is people's. lives on the line. This is the United. States of America. Damn it.
