And that's the part that. pisses me off because I remember being a. junior in high school. on 911. I remember that emotion of.

watching our country be attacked. >> and then having to deal with the fact. people were blaming me for it. I was a junior in high school in my high. school class. And. the very next year, my classmates, my. teammates elected me captain of their. high school football team and lacrosse. team and wrestling team. And those kids didn't look like me.

They didn't pray like I do. They were. asking who'd be a good leader for our. team. And I'm so honored for their. support. Michiganers are good people. We're earnest and we expect the best out. of everybody. And we're gritty and we're. willing willing to work hard for what we. have. But we've been watching as our. politics have exploited us, telling us. that only some can have and others. can't. pitting us against each other, telling us what we cannot have and.

should not fight for. And the part of this that makes me upset. is that when they lie on us and tell us. that somebody like me can't win, I want. to show them the Michigan I know and. love. I want to show them the. big-hearted and open-minded Michigan I. know. I want to show them all of the. different communities who've welcomed us. into their heart and home to have. conversations about who we are and who. we want to be. People don't care how you. pray. They care what you pray for and.

what you hope for. >> They don't care what your name is. They. care if you know their name. That's. Michigan. That's the Michigan I know. That's the Michigan I believe in. Whatever Jake Lang and and Donald Trump. and Mike Rogers want us to think, we are. bigger than being torn apart by small. people with small ideas and small. visions for what Michigan is. The only value of. these tariffs, as he imposes. unilaterally, without any approval for. Congress, is about his own greed and. interest. It is about imposing tariffs. against countries he doesn't like, that. he wants power over and then carving out. exclusions for corporations he does. like. >> Because you know who was able to skirt. all these tariffs? All of the biggest.

corporations who gave to his campaigns. >> Abdul Elsiad explaining how Medicare for. all will be paid. Let's play it. >> So, how do we pay for Medicare for all? We would pay for it the same way we pay. for Medicare and and Social Security. It. would come off the top of our paycheck. Now, Medicare for all would be cheaper. than the current system. Why? Because. the whole system relies on us paying. extra money into the system to pay the. overhead of the health insurance system. That overhead goes away.

No CEOs, no marketing budget, no army of billers. that you have to have in order to figure. out how to build for this code or that. code or the third code for every. insurance. That all goes away. So from. the perspective that I care about, which. is our kitchen table budget, right? You're paying less. for insurance that's more durable. because you don't lose it if you lose. that job. And then I thought this was a. very powerful moment again in this. incredibly busy schedule that Abdul.

Elsaiad has. He's hitting everywhere in. the state. Listen to what he says here. And he says, "Look, I'm grateful to have. grown up in a community where I got so. much exposure and empowerment from the. Jewish community. I'm so grateful." And. he goes on and says, "In so far as. there's disagreements about foreign. policy, my hope is that folks understand. where those disagreements align and also. understand that that does not come at. the cost of Jewish safety." so, you know, we're going to continue to. have that conversation. And in so far as. there are disagreements about foreign. policy, my hope is that folks understand. uh where those disagreements align and. uh also understand that that does not. come at the cost of Jewish safety. I've. been, you know, he's been one person. with whom I've had a conversation among. so many leaders in the Jewish community. who've opened their arms to me and been. willing to have a really, really good. conversation.
