The agent says, "Listen, answer. us now and we may let him go." And the. girl says, "We can talk when our We can. talk when our lawyer is here. I want to.

He was arrested driving to work even. though he had a valid work permit with.

him. They opened his car door. They. forcefully removed him and slammed his. head into the concrete. Then they pushed. the back of his head with their knees. into the concrete even more. Jaime Ortiz. said her husband has remained locked up. at the Tacoma Northwest Detention Center. in Washington. So I brought you to Los. Angeles. I brought you to Oxnard rather. husband since he was arrested on by ICE. on September 8th. I brought his prima fasy. I brought his. application for his papers. I brought, you know, the his work permit, copy of. his work permit. I said, "You need to. let him go. He's protected because he's. got the prima fasy." And they, this is. their words to me. I don't give two sh. your husband has a work permit. I don't. give two craps. Your husband um has a. primaasy. We do what the heck we want to. do, but in bad words. Ortiz says that ICE agents laughed in.

Quote, I will go all the way. to Guatemala if that's what it takes to. give him the graduation he missed, vowed. Superintendent Dr. Shawn Whiteitman. Alvaro Velasquez was lawfully in the US. awaiting approval for his green card. Now he has until October 20th to deport.

He graduated from Roosevelt High School. in Long Island, New York. That was a few. towns over from where I grew up when I. was in high school. Eyewitness News reporter Stacy Sager. live in Roosevelt with the latest. Stacy? >> Well, Sandra, he was about to graduate. He had a bright future ahead of him. And.

now his future is uncertain at best. Alvaro Velasquez told a judge today he. would self-epport, go back to Guatemala, even though he committed no crimes here. And so now his community is terrified. about the message this sends. Did he seem frightened to go back to. Guatemala? >> Certainly. Um, you know, he came here. for a reason. >> He came here alone from Guatemala when. he was just 16. And Alvaro Velasquez,

whose mother died and father was not in. the picture, did it at great risk. But. teachers say he appreciated every moment. he had here at Roosevelt High School. perhaps more than most. >> He was so wonderful. He was the student. that every teacher would dream to have. until days before graduation last June. when Alvaro never made it here because. he was randomly picked up by ICE with no. criminal record and taken to a detention. center here in Texas where he's been. ever since. >> What message does this send to people.

like him, young people like him? >> That it's not safe to be here, honestly. Um, he wasn't doing anything. wrong. He was in the car with his. guardian going back from the grocery. store. >> Today, at a virtual hearing from. detention, Alvaro agreed to self-deport. rather than stay here. His school. superintendent, who's been on a quest to. give him the recognition he deserves, not surprised, he traveled to Texas over.

the summer to visit Alvaro at his own. personal expense and was not even. permitted to give him his diploma. He. described the visiting area this way. a. chair, kind of a little bit of a a desk. or bench, and then a bulletproof glass. that was see-through that you could talk. to one another through um a little hole. >> Alvaro's attorney explains he did come. here unlawfully as a juvenile, but went. through the courts. >> and granted deferred action, granted the. ability to stay in this country. his.

superintendent determined to travel to. Guatemala if that's what it takes to. give these rights of passage to a. student who never got them at. graduation. >> That is definitely an important day in. the life of a student or or a child and. he didn't get that opportunity. >> He didn't get a lot of opportunities. >> Yes. Alvaro Velasquez was hoping to go to. Nassau Community College and then start.

his own business. Now he has until. October 20th to selfport. He was. lawfully here awaiting his green card. In this next clip I'm going to share. with you, ICE shot a taser at a US. citizen's face, causing significant. injury to his chin. Some unidentified. guy tried opening the door and tased me. in my face, he said. That's when I told. my dad and brother to run for their. lives. He was then detained without.

medical care for hours later until his. family was finally able to take him to. the hospital. Edgar Ruiz explains that. despite being born in Chicago, my. brother and I ran out of fear. His. father, who was undocumented, was the. only one not to run, but their family. attorneys still cannot find a record of. where the agents took him. This is in. Delane, Illinois. They don't know where. he is. They kidnapped him, tased the. face, and don't know where he is. Here,

The attorney tells. me they were on their way to work when. they were confronted by federal agents. at this gas station, and it was caught. on camera. They went to the gas station, no issues whatsoever. They went to go. get something to drink. They go back in. their car and as they get back in their. car, they are approached by an unknown. individual that doesn't never states in. any point whether he is a law he is a. law official, whether he's whether he.

works for the government or whether he. works for the local um local police. They approach the vehicle apparently. with no sign whatsoever. He approaches. the vehicle where the US citizen, Mr. Edgar uh Ru was um was sitting and he. draws he draws a gun. Everyone gets. scared and they all try try to flee. And. as they were as my client, one of my. clients attempted to get out of the. vehicle, he was tased in the lower in uh.

his chin uh where there was uh. significant damage to his uh to his. chin. Edgar D Ruiz, which was the US. citizen's son. Uh he was detained and uh. he was released about two three hours. after he was detained. Mr. Rioberto. Ruiz, which is the father, uh he was. detained by ICE. We're still trying to. actually locate him because he's still. not in the uh ICE detainy locating. system. >> Now, the family's attorney tells me that.

the 52-year-old father owns a. landscaping business and does not have a. criminal history or record. We have. reached out to the Department of. Homeland Security and ICE for more. information about this arrest. We are. still waiting to hear back. Reporting in. Displayplains, V1 NBC5 News. >> Now, in this next clip, ICE punched a US. citizen in the head for documenting. their excessive force. What are you. doing to this man? You're going to hurt. him, she screams after being assaulted. I'm a citizen and they just beat the. crap out of me just for recording.

Agents each grabbed an arm or leg to. lift the man off the ground, shoved him. face down into the dirt. At least five. people were detained near the Home Depot. at West 47th Street and Southwestern A. in Southwest Chicago. Here, play this. clip. >> Oh my god. You're just assaulting me. >> I'm a US citizen and they just [ __ ]. beat the [ __ ] out of me just for. recording, letting immigrants know where. they are. >> Now, finally, ICE badly injured this. 80-year-old US citizen who owns the car. wash that ICE raided. They leave him. with broken ribs and a dislocated elbow. It's the car wash owner and they. kidnapped his workers and he was there. and they broke his ribs and they. dislocated his elbow. They told me, quote, "You don't f with ice. We are. here." Then they threw me to the floor.

I told them, "I'm an old man and need my. heart medication." But they said, "No.". Rafi Shahed was placed in handcuffs and. detained, then denied medical care. despite his injuries and heart. condition. Upon his release later that. night, his family was finally able to. take him to the hospital for a. dislocated elbow, broken ribs, and. contusions on both arms. Rafi Shahood. owns the Valley Car Wash in Vanise, California. You may remember we showed.

you that raid on that Vanise car wash. But now we learned they attacked not. just the migrants, which is horrible. They attacked the citizen, the. 80-year-old man who owns the place. That's when armed mass men. turned their attention towards him, leaving him badly injured. He can see my arm. after his business was raided by federal. immigration officials last week. Surveillance video shows as the. 80-year-old car wash owner gets shoved. to the ground by a mass agent as he's. running down a narrow hallway. Rafie. says he didn't know what was going on. And when he came to the defense of one. of his employees outside Valley Car Wash. in Van Eyes, an unidentified officer. pushes him back before throwing him to. the ground as backup arrives. >> They grabbed one of my guys and I told. him, "Hold on. This some of most of.

these people they have a paper. We have. documentation here." And the only thing. they had they said is, "Do you don't f. with the eyes we are here." and they. threw me on the floor and three of them. they jumped on me and they were sitting. on me. >> Rafie says five of his employees were. detained by ICE that Tuesday morning. He. requested medical attention after being. roughed up with a heart condition, but. instead he was placed in handcuffs and.

taken to the Metropolitan Detention. Center in downtown LA. >> I was asking him, "Let me talk to. somebody. I need to go home. I need my. medicine. I am hungry. No, there is nothing we can do. You have to. wait. You have to wait. >> The US citizen was released hours later. That's when his family finally took him. to the hospital. >> Again, you know, my dad, he's 80 years. old and he has a heart condition and he. begged and pleaded, begged and pleaded. and told him as soon as that second.

attack, that second um uh push down, he. said, "I have a heart condition. I'm an. old man. I want the ambulance." and they. completely denied him and ignored him. >> Rafy's ribs were left busted. Both his. arms have contusions and he's struggling. to breathe. He and his family are now. seeking legal action against the. government. >> What they are doing is not nice and is. not right. >> Now, following last week's raid, Rafie. says that he struggled to keep his car.

wash open because some of his employees. are just too scared to come to work, even with proper documentation. We. reached out to the Department of. Homeland Security regarding this. incident.
