NFL Star Antonio Brown's Conflict with Police Continues: The Story So Far
game. Antonio Brown that's Antonio Brown. without his uniform we are told without. his jersey. and running out of the field the twists. and turns continue in this confusing and. captivating case of current free agent. wide receiver Antonio Brown days after a. warrant is issued for his arrest the. former Tampa Bay Buccaneer is still on. the run we're joined by retired.
detective Sergeant Ashton pack to break. down the story so far welcome to sidebar. presented by long crime I'm Sierra. Gillespie. we're taking a closer look at the case. of current wide receiver free agent. Antonio Brown who at the time of this. recording is still on the run from. police let's start this bizarre Saga. from the very beginning and break down. the story so far now it starts on. November 28th when Brown allegedly got. into a physical altercation with his.
ex-fiance investigators say it happened. at his home in Tampa Florida where they. say he allegedly threw a shoe at her. after that officials say brown through. all of her clothes out onto the street. now the victim also confirmed to police. the brown had two guns inside the home. and she also told investigators he. threatened to shoot her if she came back. inside so when police arrived Brown had. locked himself into the home and he. refused to speak to them days later. though on December 1st police issued a.
warrant for brown on charges of domestic. battery when they went to serve that. warrant no one answered the door now at. the time of this record recording. Florida officials say they have quote no. updates on the search for the football. player so let's bring in retired. detective Sergeant Ashton pack to try to. make sense of this case Ashton thank you. so much for joining us thanks for having. me back. okay so let's start with the basics. where could Brown really be well I I. find in my experience after 23 years.
that people don't venture too far away. from places that they're comfortable. with so I wouldn't be surprised if he's. in the area where he currently resides. maybe at a friend's or a relative's. house but anything's possible with uh. with these cases this this gentleman. could be anywhere in the United States. of the world I know he has a social. media presence looks like he's been. posting uh several things reference. World Cup and maintaining a social media. postings and presents so I have a.
feeling he's probably going to be close. to home that's usually where folks tend. to hang out because they don't like to. get too far away from their comfort zone. and Ashton what sort of Fallout could. Brown see from even being on the Run. well it's never it's never good in the. legal eyes to run from especially a. misdemeanor although it's a it could be. a serious charge domestic violence is. obviously a very serious charge we're. talking about a misdemeanor here and so. if Mr Brown were listening to the. podcast now I just say call your.
attorney and get yourself turned in this. is what you pay the attorneys to to deal. with these problems running only. compounds problems it exacerbates the. issue and it doesn't help in the the. court of public opinion either if you're. not guilty if you didn't do these things. that you've been alleged to have. committed I would be the first person to. want to say no I want to go before the. judge with my attorney and I want to. clear my good name so I think running. you know the more he runs it's just does. not look good for him it doesn't look.
good for the case it puts law. enforcement a little bit on edge this is. again we're talking about a miss. demeanor crime here again it could be. serious domestic violence is serious but. we're not talking about aggravated. assault or attempted murder so in my. opinion the advice I would give and what. his attorney and any attorney worth. their assault would be simply turn. yourself in and let's get this taken. care of because he'll have an. opportunity to make bail he'll have his. opportunity to have his day in court but. running it only makes it worse okay and.
Ashton this could really vary case to. on in the suspect's mind but why would. somebody even go on the Run well there's. a myriad of reasons why people run from. law enforcement or run from the problems. ultimately I I don't know what's going. on in Mr Brown's head it seems to me. that mental illness is probably playing. a factor here you have a very talented. athlete I think that that just entails. having a little bit of an elevated ego. obviously guys who play in the NFL it.
takes a little bit of swagger to walk on. that field and do what those athletes do. but you have to check that ego you have. to remain a little bit humble and I have. a serious sinking suspicion that that. you know having researched Mr Brown and. listening to some of the things he said. it seems to me that there's just a. little bit of a a Cockiness to him so it. might be the fact that he's you know he. thinks he's Above the Law he thinks he. doesn't have to be held accountable to. his actions because he's a talented. athlete and you know he's got money in.
the bank but ultimately at the end of. the day he he's going to have to go. before the court and he's going to have. to deal with these charges and he can't. run forever. so we've also seen some what. questionable behavior from Brown in the. past last NFL season even he was kicked. off the Tampa Bay Buccaneers team after. leading the field shirtless Ashton is. this sort of strange Behavior could it. be a pattern it definitely seems to be a. pattern and the fact that he's. associating himself with a very famous. hip-hop artist that's been in the news.
lately all these things you know I just. I have this bad feeling that mental. illness you know it's a major factor in. our country I think a lot of people. battle mental illness and again not to. use that as an excuse or a Crux but you. know I think when you're poor you're. crazy but when you have money in the. bank and talent and you're and you're. very popular it's eccentric and so that. that's I think the difference here of. what we're looking at but again Mr Brown. has to eventually go before a judge he's. gonna he's gonna have to go through the. custody process of being arrested and.
again we don't want this to compound. into something that it doesn't need to. be we're talking about a misdemeanor. crime here we're talking about very. likely probation a fine community. service and counseling that's the. general standard thing when when a man. or a woman is convicted or arrested and. goes to the court process for domestic. violence either a battery or an assault. so I I can't again I can't speak to his. psychiatric problems or any anything. that's going on he might just be a nasty. guy who doesn't want to follow the rules. but if we do have mental illness issues.
are we talking about potential CTE or. traumatic brain injury from his career. in the NFL these are all questions that. ultimately you know we just can't answer. without knowing the full story about. what's going on in his life but yeah. he's got to get he's got to get before. the judge so what's next for Brown's. ex-fiance how does she make sure that. she's staying safe. that's a great question and ultimately I. always like to really remind the public. that we're talking about victims of. crime here and again we're dealing with. a misdemeanor but nonetheless uh when.
you're the victim of a domestic violence. assault or a battery whether you're a. man or a woman you have that increased. chance of you know the biggest risk. people find in in like our homicides are. the people that they know the people. that they love the family relationships. it's not the stranger danger so much in. our country that kills the most people. so domestic violence is a very serious. issue I think the victim at this point. she's going to want to see obviously uh. you know Justice brought and and he's. going to have to face you know the.
consequences of his actions and as a. victim you know never having been the. victim of domestic violence but. definitely being around victims of. domestic violence there's a lot of. resources for those victims out there. and unfortunately it does tend to be. women who are victims of domestic. violence I do see men who are victims as. well but I if I was the victim I would. lean on the the The Advocates usually to. the district attorney's office or the. police department will have a domestic. victims advocate in their Corner. um I would lean on therapy I would lean.
on things that are going to help get you. through this process and then explore. why are you with a toxic person is the. intoxication of the fame and the money a. little bit too much to bear that's. something for her to answer but at the. end of the day no one deserves to be. hurt or battered or the victim of. domestic violence and again that yeah we. have to remember the victims in these. circumstances and these incidents and. Ashton thank you always for joining us. we are really hoping to have more. updates in this case as soon as possible. and thanks again for bringing us the. latest developments thanks Sierra have a.
