'I Want My Mom!': Street Racer Begs for Mommy After High-Speed Chase

And then completely out of left field, the suspects start screaming.

I just want my mom. What happens next? Well, buckle up because this might be. one of the strangest arrests that we. have ever covered and we're going to. break it all down for you right now. We got to talk about this new body cam. video out of Bernalo County because it. doesn't just show deputies shutting down. a drag racing operation, which in and of. itself is pretty chaotic and crazy, but. I have to tell you, this shows probably.

>> Get on the ground. >> Stop resisting. My name. >> Stop resisting. >> Stop resisting. >> Yeah. So, this is chaotic. This is. tense. maybe almost cinematic in a way. And then after the suspect is finally. apprehended, this is not what you'd expect. He starts. screaming. >> I just want my mom.

>> You don't want to speak to me. >> I want my mom. >> Yeah, you heard that right. This isn't a. kid, though. This isn't a kid crying. This is 22-year-old Fernando Martinez. pleading for his mom while being. arrested for reckless driving. Now, before we get to that moment, before we. get to the begging, the crying, the mom. over and over and over again, we have to. walk you through how all of this. started. Because this wasn't just some. random traffic stop. Deputies say it. began on August 3rd, 2025 after calls. about a pack of cars racing through the.

Athleta Amphitheater parking lot in. Albuquerque, weaving through traffic, putting families at a nearby soccer game. in danger. And in the middle of it all, a white Chrysler 300 allegedly driven by. Fernando Martinez, the car that deputies. say stood out. And when they tried to. stop him, he apparently didn't just pull. over. No, he allegedly fled, running red. lights, cutting into oncoming lanes, putting everyone around him at serious. risk. And the chase ended when officers.

finally took him into custody, charging. him with reckless driving, resisting. aggravated fleeing from law enforcement, and yes, they found a firearm in his. car. So, I'm going to take you through. this bit by bit, okay? When officers. rolled up, this wasn't a calm traffic. stop. This was like a fullon scene. straight out of a movie. You. know, the whole spiel about staying.

silent, talking to an attorney, all of. that. His response, he doesn't want to. speak to anyone except his mom. >> Okay. >> Fernando, can you can you calm down a little bit? >> Can you speak to me? >> Yeah. >> Okay. I'm going to read this to you, okay? Before we go any further, okay? You have the right to remain silent. >> Anything you say can and will be used. against you in a court of law.

>> You have the right to talk to an. attorney for advice before we ask you. any questions and to have an attorney. with you during questioning. If you. cannot afford an attorney, one will be. appointed to you by the state of New. Mexico free of charge before any. questioning if you wish. If you decide. to answer questions now without an. attorney present, you will still have. the right to stop answering at any time. the car. That is because his family members are. calling him and trying to reach him. And. eventually his sister calls and the. officer talks to her and her reaction. when he tells her the suspect is going. to jail. That may surprise you. >> You want me to tell her? >> Well, do you want me to tell her? Yes or. no? >> Yes. Just talk to my sister. >> I'll talk to her then. Okay.

Uh we've been calling and uh we. have uh we were talking to my mom and it. said that he was pinging on Inal Leo and.

we're just not sure if if you guys have. him or if you guys have his phone or. what what's going on. >> Do you know where he's supposed to be. at? >> Uh no, we're trying to find him. Uh we. we're told that he was uh he was going. and he was just driving around and we've. been trying to find him and I can't we. can't find him but we were calling to. >> Cool. because once Fernando is brought inside. and booked into jail, he drops a. bombshell during the chase and all the. chaos, he apparently had an accident in. his pants. And here's the kicker. He. didn't want to change. The deputies are. walking him through all the options, explaining how the clothes situation. works, even offering a trash bag for the. soiled items. He seems to be stubborn, insists on keeping his shorts on, debates what to do with his pants.
