5 Times Suspected Cold-Blooded Killers Got Caught

Is it. osteogenesis imperfecta? >> They never gave me a name. >> Okay. >> They just say it's a rare bone disease. >> Okay. >> Do you have any reason to want to hurt. Hillary? >> No.

I took my life cuz I got second down to. me. >> With the help of body worn cameras and. interrogation tapes, we are breaking. down five times mothers, sons, roommates, [music] even complete. strangers allegedly turned into. cold-blooded [music] killers. >> Sir, if we're thinking it's foul play, can we get everybody out of here? >> Yeah. >> Welcome to Sidebar, presented by Law &. Crime. I'm Jesse Weber.

As we talk about alleged killers getting. caught, we're going to begin in New. Mexico, where investigators were. determined to solve a man's murder even. if it took them years. Officers had first responded to an. Albuquerque apartment around 1:00 p.m. on April 4th, 2023. A man hadn't been. able to get a hold of his father, 60-year-old Larry Norsworthy, so he came. over to check on him. Unfortunately, he found his father dead. on the bathroom floor. >> My dad's phone hasn't been on for the. last couple days.

>> Is there anybody else inside?

>> Who are you to answer? >> Um. grandson by marriage. >> Were you the one who said you were. coming to do a welfare check? >> Yes, sir. >> Responding officers take control of the. scene. They try to figure out if this. was accidental or what's called an. unattended death or foul play was. involved. And that's when they learn. that Larry had reported his car stolen,

allegedly taken by a young woman who'd. been living with him named Jasmine. Trujillo. And it turns out that Larry's. son had just seen the SUV with a man and. a woman inside. But he says they sped. off as soon as they saw him. >> And this chick he was with. stole his car or his vehicle. And. according to the neighbor downstairs, they just saw her yesterday. or Saturday at the laundromat in the.

vehicle. by herself. >> What kind of car is it? >> It is a Mercury Mountaineer. Premier. >> What color? >> White. >> Did he report it stolen? >> Yes. >> When did he report it stolen, do you. know? >> Um that I don't know. And my uncle was. talking to, I believe, the neighbor down. here. >> Okay. >> Like I told her, she saw him. or he saw her. The female in the vehicle. >> Okay. >> So. uh when? Saturday at the laundromat.

Just her. >> The vehicle was over there. The way he's lying is super weird. People often fall. like typically in the doorway. I mean, it could absolutely happen, but. the chances are few. There is a little. bit of blood by his head and his pockets. are out-turned like somebody went. through his stuff. >> That's what the That's what the neighbor. downstairs might say. >> Yeah. >> So, yeah. >> And with the car being missing and the. phone being missing, it's 31 enough. The. family was here they were often checking. on him. The grandfather that hurt him a couple. of days.

so they came over here. The way he's laying in the bathroom, he's like laying flat on his back like. if he had collapsed like he wouldn't be. able to. his car is apparently stolen by his. ex-girlfriend and his phone is pinging. somewhere else. And his pockets are all out turned like. somebody went through his pants. There's. not any trauma like somebody killed him. but it's possible that somebody that he. just died and somebody came in and took. his stuff. but it is so 31 so we're going to secure.

and wait for CS. >> So officers knocked on doors at the. apartment complex trying to figure out. if anyone saw anything suspicious. >> Thank you. >> Yeah, yeah. I'm worried about her too. like I don't know like I'm pretty sure. Jasmine stole his car and then like I. know like. so I know she had a 9 mm pistol. She. lived down she she lived right over. there. >> Below him? >> Okay. >> And um. stuff was really bad but like she looked. for his zip up and I heard I heard. a gunshot and I'm not sure exactly. I'm. kind of worried that something. >> You heard gunshots?

>> Yeah. >> Out here? >> Over there, yeah. >> What day was that? >> That was. early early early yesterday morning like. 3:00 in the morning not. It's yesterday so. early in the night floor at 3:00 in the. morning. >> Okay. >> Yeah, I seen him yesterday he seen me he. came out and gave me a cigarette and. that's the last time I seen him though. >> Yesterday you saw him? >> Yeah, I guess yeah early early yesterday. though I was like. I was like. Babe, what time did we see Larry at? Babe.

When did he come to give you a cigarette. and like what time was it? It was probably like 2:00 early like. 2:00 in the morning he came out and. knocked on the window. >> Okay. >> He was a cigarette and he gave and he. said he was looking for Jasmine and he. still ain't seen her over there though. Okay, so Jasmine Gonzalez? >> Yeah, and she live directly below him? Yeah, she did. And at her Actually, Michael lived there. Michael's in jail. And that's her boyfriend. >> Larry's family says they're able to. track his phone, and it's showing up at. another location.

>> I have an app on the phone called. Life360. >> To track it? >> Yes. And so right now, it's showing us here. >> This is. >> It's showing me here. Yes. And it's showing that his phone is over. here. Is there any way we can get. somebody to come check because the car. is not there. But is there any way we can check. >> Yeah. >> if she's in there with his phone. >> The phone's. right there. There we go. >> Yeah, it's just down south of here. I. already drove by.

>> Well, it was pinging there. >> Okay. >> Well, when I was on my way over, that's. why I was like, well, he's at home. I'm. going to check on him. >> Right. Right. >> Then whenever I was already here and. everything, freaking already called the. cops, all that, I opened it up, and then. I looked at it, and I just pulled it up. again. And I was like, what Wait, it's. here now. >> So it shows us right here. And then. right here, it's on Pennsylvania. So we can get his phone I mean, I'm sure. that has more information on there. >> All right. Yeah, there's other officers that are. looking into the car, also. Um because.

they were saying uh Jeremy McDonald said. Jasmine took it. >> That That's. >> That's her name and. >> That girl, right? Did he actually report. it stolen with the police? >> He told his cousin he um. Sunday that he reported it stolen. >> Okay. >> Okay. And then they on exceed constant, I'm going to jail now because you. reported it stolen and all this other. stuff. But I know for a fact like well, he he told her, right? And she's the one. that came over to my house today cuz I'm. worried about your dad because.

last time I talked to him was on Sunday. We were They were supposed to go. yesterday cuz he didn't have a car. So. he could go pay his rent and all the. other stuff. And she hadn't heard from. him. >> Okay. >> And he sent me this. He He said if. something happens to me, it's Jasmine. and. >> to them, Domer? >> I did. I gave it to Jeremy, but Jeremy. probably gave it to them. >> Can you just write it down, just in. case? >> Her name is Jasmine. >> She's here. And her her boyfriend that. lived downstairs, um. he went to jail, and that's why she. couldn't go any uh.

Can you guys I was wondering if you guys. could drive past the 20 where the. phone's pinging and see if you can find. the car? >> So, at this point, the family gives. investigators a few more details out in. the parking lot of the complex, and. they're trying to just wrap their heads. around the idea, the fact that Larry's. dead. >> This chick already broke in and stole. his cards, and ripped them off for like.

800 bucks, and then kept telling me what. to do. >> I called the bank, and his bank in. Arcadia, and they're going to send me a. report. They said the last time was on. Saturday, somebody pulled out 500. dollars off of the ATM at 11. >> Okay. >> 15. >> And then they still Then he stopped it. >> He put it on reserve or something like. >> Yeah, but and then. >> But then it was tried a bunch of other. times. >> Yeah, they said they still was trying. it. >> On Saturday. >> And. yeah, and and with well.

>> Or did they not tell you like Yeah. >> with the pin. >> I didn't know if they told you and then. said they'd also send the. >> Okay. >> He was lying there on the ground like. this, right? With the damn nebulizer on. >> Okay. >> You know what I mean? And like there's. no. Well, it was on. >> I It was I Once we Once we. >> you guys do anything at all? >> No. Okay, you turned but you turned off. the nebulizer. >> I ran in, I said, "Dead, dead." I. started yelling, I grabbed his leg, and. I shook him. He was stiff as fuck, and I. As soon as I got it looked at him like.

purple. >> So, the only thing that was touched was. the nebulizer was turned off. Okay. >> Like I said, I touched his leg, I. grabbed his leg, and grabbed You know, it was kind of but it was stiff. And I. walked up, and I. >> I don't even know if I touched his leg. or. >> You did it with your. >> Okay. >> The only thing that was touched was the. was the cord. I didn't even touch. anything by him. I just unplugged it. from the wall. >> Someone had mentioned that there being a. lot of dried blood above his head or. something like that. Did you see. anything like that? >> Um I saw something on the floor, I don't. know what it is, um but I don't see that. he's injured anywhere.

So. Um. So, like I said, I can't do anything. else until they get here. I can't move. him cuz they have to get their photos. first before we change anything in the. scene. So, unfortunately, we're just in. a a holding pattern until they get here. >> So, officers on scene radioed in for. another squad car to go check out the. location where Larry's phone was. pinging, but they didn't locate the. phone, and they didn't locate Larry's. car. The SUV was later found abandoned. at another location along with Larry's.

bank cards. According to family members. and neighbors, Trujillo had been living. in a different apartment at the complex, but got evicted. So, with nowhere to go, she apparently turns to Larry for help, and he agreed to let her stay with him. You know, a compassionate decision that. would have deadly consequences. Reporting from the Albuquerque Journal. indicates that the medical examiner's. office initially ruled this case an. unattended death, but then later amended. their findings to homicide due to blunt.

force trauma to the chest. One of. Larry's neighbors provided crucial. information to police claiming that the. night before Larry's body was found, they heard a loud crashing sound and. yelling. And then the neighbor. reportedly saw two people leaving the. apartment. Another witness also came. forward to tell police that Trujillo. herself had told them that Larry had. changed the security codes on his phone, so they were going to have to quote beat.

his bank codes out of him so they could. steal his social security payment. Officers then review the surveillance. footage, and they were able to identify. Trujillo and her boyfriend, Jarrett. Trucone. And that surveillance also. provided a key piece of evidence. It appeared Trucone was wearing a new. pair of tennis shoes that were missing. from Larry's apartment. A couple months. later, police finally caught up to. Trujillo, brought her in for questioning.

as a person of interest. >> I'm here to ask you some questions about. your relationship with Larry Northwood. >> Okay. >> And who is that to you? >> Um he was my neighbor. >> Okay. And how did you come to know him. that way? >> Um I Well, I did I stayed with him for a. little bit and then I ended up leaving. >> Why did you end up staying with him? >> Cuz I got kicked out of my apartment cuz. my boyfriend left. >> Okay. Okay. >> Oh, he Wait, what's the last thing that. happened? Oh, and then we seen that he. was staying at my dad's house.

So. >> Okay. How long do you think you stayed. with Larry? >> For like 2 weeks and then I ended up. leaving. Back to East Los Angeles. >> Okay. >> So, am I being charged with anything? >> No, I'm just trying to clarify some. things. >> Oh, okay. >> So, when's the last time you saw Larry? >> Um I had seen him like. 2 weeks before I left East Los Angeles. >> Do you know when that was? >> No, I don't. >> When's the last time you talked to him? >> Um.

like. like 2 weeks before I left East Los. Angeles. >> And you don't know when that was? >> No. >> It appears from the interrogation video. that Trujillo didn't feel too well and. could have been going through a drug. withdrawal. So, she was kind of cagey. when the detective questioned her about. Larry's death and the items that were. missing from his apartment and seemingly. tried to push the blame off on her. boyfriend. Now, here are some pieces of. that interview. >> So, obviously Larry filed a police. report saying that you took his vehicle, right? >> Yeah. >> Um when I did a search warrant on.

Larry's phone, he was having communications with you. saying, "Where's my car? Turn in my. car." And you said, "Oh, I'll bring it. back. I got pulled over. I went to. jail." Like you had a whole bunch of. excuses, but you never brought it back. >> I did. I ended up taking it back and I. left it outside. >> Okay. [snorts]. I saw a video that showed that vehicle. come back on April 3rd. And it was at like 3:30 in the morning. >> Okay. >> Okay. And then. some of the neighbors said they heard. struggling in Larry's apartment that. night.

>> Okay. >> About 3:30 in the morning. They heard stop, stop, get off me, that. kind of stuff, crashing around. >> Oh my god. >> And then some of the neighbors said they. saw you and a male leaving the. apartment. >> I hadn't seen him that that morning. >> And then the next day. someone said you and the same male came. back in Larry's car. took stuff from his apartment and then. left again. >> No. >> The neighbors heard the disturbance on. April 3rd around 3:00, 4:00 in the. morning. Then they said they saw you and. this guy leaving.

Wearing Larry's shoes. And then the next day Larry was found. deceased in his bathroom. >> I don't know anything about that. >> So, what happened that night in the. apartment? >> I don't know. I wasn't in the apartment. >> Okay. Cuz we have several neighbors. saying that it was you and whoever that. dude was. >> No. It was not me. >> So, people are saying Larry's car was. taken. Somebody was up in his room jacking him. up. The neighbors saw you and some male up. there. >> I wasn't up there though. I told you I. wasn't up there. I wasn't up there. >> I mean, who else would you be with. driving Larry's car, going back to his.

apartment? >> I don't know who he is. >> Did you give him the keys to Larry's. apartment ever? >> Keys to Larry's apartment? No. I didn't give him the keys to Larry's. apartment. I never had the keys to. Larry's apartment. >> Cuz what I'm seeing right now is a lot. of this stuff is going to come back on. you and him. I just want you to be. cooperative and give us as much. information as you can. >> So, how long will it take for me to get. charged with this? >> I don't. I don't know what you want. I'm just. saying right now. it looks like. you and this dude went up to Larry's. apartment, dragged him, left, came back, took some more of his stuff, left, ran.

around in his car, crashed it, left. It just It just doesn't look that good. Like everybody these days has cameras, you know? >> Yeah. >> You going to stick with your story or. you want to tell me some truth? >> I don't. Well, we took his car and stuff. >> Okay. One good thing is. he's dead and nobody will be charging. you for taking his car.

So, you took his car. Then what? >> Uh, and then he said Jeremy dropped me off. at his mom's and I don't know what he. would have did. >> [snorts]. >> But, how do we know what day it was that. he dropped you off and. >> I don't remember. It's been so long. Like I told you, it's been so long. He. didn't tell me He wouldn't tell me. stuff. He wouldn't. >> Did you Did you sit and say, "Hey, I. know this old guy. I got his keys. He's. got all his stuff.". >> No. >> Cuz you had access to Larry's apartment, too. >> I didn't have Larry's keys, but that's. what I'm telling you. I didn't have.

Larry's keys. >> When did you return his keys to him? >> I tried to return his keys to him on the. second. >> So, whoever killed Larry made it look. like Larry passed away naturally. But, everything else in the apartment. was extremely suspicious. >> Mhm. >> There's a lot of things that I can't. tell you. cuz they're just giveaways, but. it was a poorly done job. You know, it's. somebody could walk in there and say, "Oh, this guy's dead. This is not a natural death. Somebody. killed him and covered it up to look.

like a natural death." That's That's. what it is. So. >> Am I going to be charged with anything. right now? >> Not today. Not at this moment. But, you. know what I mean? Everything here looks. like you and you took some dude up to. Larry's apartment to get that. That's. what it looks like. I mean, listen. So, I just figured if you knew, you. would tell me. Cuz that's a serious thing and. nobody wants to have the rest of their. freedom taken away because of. a bad situation. So, any chance you were using drugs and. don't remember this?

>> He could have gave me Xanax. >> Can't take you up there without you. remembering? >> Uh, I blacked out on the Xanax. I don't. I don't. >> Okay. >> There had been a lot of questions about. whether Larry and Trujillo were in some. sort of sexual relationship, but. Trujillo says they were just friends. >> Did you and Larry have a sexual. relationship? >> No. We were just friends. >> Did you have any reason to want to hurt. him, Larry? >> No.

I loved him a lot. He's like a second. dad to me. >> He's like a. >> He's like a second dad to me. >> Yeah, you felt like. felt like he was helping you out and. protecting you. Plus he probably kept you company, too. It was probably good for both of you. guys. >> So Trujillo's allowed to leave, but then. a year later, she's back in custody in. another part of the state. She tells the.

Albuquerque investigators who come to. question her that she's gotten clean, and she looks much different than she. did during her first interview. But she wants to know if she's being. charged with something. So this is where. the detective lays it out. >> Yeah. I was doing better. I was doing. better. >> Yeah. Somebody told me That's awesome. Really. well. The officer that arrested you. called me and. >> Yeah. >> said I messed up last time and I didn't. get a chance to speak with her. She's. went to rehab, she's working. Um. He said she might be interested in. talking to you to clear things up on.

your side of these things since you're. the one that's facing charges. So I wanted to give you that opportunity. to speak with us and talk to us about. the situation, anything that you want to. share, anything that you know. Um. just to clear things up on our end so we. can move forward. >> Okay, so what's going on? Am I being. charged with something right now? >> Yeah, right now you have a charge of. murder. >> Is it conspiracy? >> Murder and conspiracy. >> Okay. So like what happens if I talk to you. guys without my lawyer?

>> What do you mean? It's up to you. I I'm. I. wanted to give you a chance to speak. with us and we can ask you some. questions, you can ask us some. questions. If we proceed though, I do. have to advise you of your Miranda. rights since you're in jail and I can't. let you leave at this point. >> But any information that you do give us. today, it'll be something that we can. add to the investigation and look into. Um obviously. well, I've been investigating this for a. while. Um but one thing we don't know is. your perspective on it and that's why we. drove here today. And we wanted to talk. to you about that. >> Has Jared been caught?

Is he charged with anything? >> Yes, and that's stuff we can discuss. with you. It's up to you. I just would like your. your version of events, your side of the. story. >> I didn't do nothing. >> Well, tell you what, why don't we just. uh go through the Miranda rights. I'm. sure you you you've heard them before, right? [snorts]. We'll go through each one, make sure you. understand it and then whatever you want. to share with us, we can have a. conversation about that. >> Like I said, told me this morning he.

arrested you last night. Um you said you were cooperative. You. said you were extremely upset. You feel like you're doing better, your. life's on track. You don't want to get. sidetracked with some other kind of. stuff and you wanted to share what you. know to try to clear the waters and. hopefully get things out. >> After they read her the Miranda rights, Trahia wants to know if Jacone is in. trouble, too. >> So, I have a question. Is it conspiracy. cuz I was with the person that committed. a crime? Or what is it? >> Uh it's going to be you guys possibly.

discussing a plan or having an idea and. then acting on those ideas to commit. certain incidents. >> But I'm not being charged with actually. like I'm with somebody that did it. That's what I don't understand. >> At this point, you guys both have the. same charges. >> All right. >> At this point, Jacone was still on the. win, but a warrant was out for his. arrest and the detective asked about her. relationship with him at this point in. time. >> So, you dated him? >> Yeah. >> How How have you guys dated?

>> We dated. 2 months. He was very abusive. >> You never [snorts] mentioned that. So you guys dated for about 2 months. Did you [snorts] stay with him at his. mom's place? >> Yeah. >> Did you get along with him okay? >> Well, sometimes when I didn't have. money, like he'd get mad. I tried to leave him a couple times and. he tried to kill me. >> [clears throat]. >> But when Trujillo talks about Larry,

she remembers him fondly. >> I love Larry like. nobody [clears throat] ever did. I would never. hurt him. He took care of me when nobody. else would. >> So you loved Larry? >> He was like my dad. I would never hurt. him. >> He took care of you? >> [snorts]. >> He took me in when nobody else would. >> So [snorts] you got a victim and started.

hanging with Larry. >> Yeah. >> How long did you stay with Larry? >> For a month. >> About a month? >> Yeah. >> How was your guys' relationship? >> Good. He was like I said, he was like a dad. He took care of me. We'd make each other dinner. We'd watch. We were watching this show, Dexter. >> I know. >> We binge watched it and then we binge. watched the um. American Horror Story. >> [gasps]. >> Spent a lot of time together? >> Yeah.

>> Was Jared friends with Larry? >> No. >> Did he know Larry? >> No. Um Larry had lent me his car and I don't. remember if she knew about that. And um. I took a while. to come back. I was afraid to tell him. that Jared had the car. Well, took the. car away from him and wouldn't give it. back. >> Trujillo was hesitant about speaking. with the detective without a lawyer. present, but crucially, she never.

specifically requested one. >> And how did this incident come about? >> I don't know if I should talk anymore. without my lawyer. I probably don't want to talk without my. lawyer. I just want to get my name. cleared cuz I can't do anything. And I have a great job and stuff. I'm. doing good. >> [clears throat]. >> What are you working at now? >> [laughter]. >> Taco Bell. >> [snorts]. >> I was finally getting to see my kids.

I just don't want to be in trouble. I. didn't do anything. >> Where are your kids at with your mom? >> [snorts]. >> Are they going to school? >> Yeah, my mom has custody of them. >> How many of them? >> Yes. >> [snorts]. [clears throat]. >> Have you seen Jared since he made. threats to you about keeping quiet? Did. he. Did he say. >> [snorts]. >> "Don't talk about this or I'll kill you". or "I'm going to kill you so you don't. talk about this"? >> kill me. He said he was going to kill me.

on the day Thank God I got arrested that. day. Um. I had just bought a bike cuz I was with. my friend and my friend left me real. quick to go and get something at the. smoke shop. And Jared. snuck up on me and he wouldn't let go of. my bike. He was telling me that I. that he could give me my bike back. I. was trying to get my bike back. I said, "Leave me alone." And he's all, "I'll. give you your bike back if you go with. me down to my house. You'll get it back over there.". And [snorts] I told my mom I'm stupid. I. know if I go with you over there, I'm. not going to make it out.

>> And you didn't go? >> Cuz there was a cop passing by. I [snorts] was arguing and I said, "I'm. going to scream if you don't let go.". And he let go of my bike and took off. >> At one point, the detective confronts. Trujillo with the fact that Chacone was. seen wearing shoes that were missing. from Larry's place. >> So, the first time we spoke was at MDC. and I showed you a picture. and you said that's Jared Shacone. And in the picture, Jared was standing.

outside of Larry's vehicle. after which you reported stolen and he. was wearing a pair of white high-top. Converse sneakers that Larry's family. said belonged to Larry. Do you know how he got those sneakers? >> No, cuz I have I bought the same pair at. at Ross. I had the same pair at home. >> Did you and Larry buy them together? >> No, I had my pair way before. >> You guys have Converse and Larry also. had a pair of Converse? >> Yeah, um. well, [snorts] Jared was always going to.

the store and stealing. He was stealing. from Ross and he had me and his sister. steal shoes. So, I don't know. about that. >> Okay. And that was one of the first things. that made me think that Jared was. involved because his family said. when you found Larry, he was deceased, you looked there was no evidence, his. shoes were gone, and then here's a. picture of this guy with his car and his. shoes. >> And he had those have to have been. Larry's shoes then. if they weren't there.

>> Did you see him take them or not? No, okay. >> I don't remember. I was just scared. >> Can you think of anything else he might. have taken from that apartment. other than the vehicle? >> I don't I can't remember. I'm scared and I don't know if I should. continue to talk to you guys without my. lawyer. >> If you didn't do it,

you know who did. >> I know Jared. [clears throat]. >> Do you think 100% that Jared's. responsible for that? >> Yes, he is responsible for it. >> Jared killed Larry. He was indicted on the same. charges as Trujillo, but with an added. charge of tampering with evidence. Now, his case expected to go to trial later. this year. Our next case comes from. Ohio, and police didn't have to hunt. down this murder suspect. He came right. up to their patrol car and confessed. January 13th, 2023, out in Cleveland, a.

man named Martin Munoz approaches a. patrol car and tells the officers inside. that he just shot five people in the. head and they're all members of his own. family. >> I'm serious. I'm not crazy. And you. could go to the address and verify the. address is. But I want you to handcuff me first. >> All right, let me pull up really quick. >> Get out of the car now. Turn your camera on.

Three of the. victims were pronounced dead at the. scene. 16-year-old Jaden Baez, 35-year-old Angelique Gonzalez, and. 70-year-old Miguel Gonzalez. The other. two victims, 48-year-old Anthony Booth. and his 8-year-old daughter were taken. to a hospital, but Booth died from his. injuries. His young daughter miraculously.

survived, but just imagine the trauma. that she's going to likely have to deal. with for years to come. Come, horrible. crime. Now, authorities confirmed that. Angelique was Muniz's sister and Miguel. was his uncle, Anthony was his. brother-in-law, and 16-year-old Jaden. was his nephew. So, officers put him in. an interrogation room where he sat. quietly before eventually putting his. head down on the table. And within. moments of the interrogators reading him. his Miranda rights, he confessed to. killing his sister's family. He claims.

I asked Jayden, her son, I said, "Yo, where is the rest. of the food at?" He said, "No, it's. gone." I'm like, "What do you mean it's. gone? I didn't even eat yet.". So, he was like, "Well, I don't know. what to tell you." So, I said, "Okay, well, where's my sister at?" So, I asked.

my sister, I said, "Where's the food. at?" She said, "I don't know. Why are you asking me?". I said, "Okay.". I said, "Yo, uh I didn't eat. We're. going to have a problem.". Nobody said nothing. family members, and. it is tough to listen to. I didn't want her to. die. So, I didn't shoot her in the head. The boy I shot in the head. Then I went upstairs. and I shot him in the face. >> Who? >> Angel.

And then I came back downstairs and I. walked back in my sister's room. and I shot Tony again. And then I went next to my sister and I. put a bullet in the back of her head. >> Now, your niece, did was she shot at. all? >> Yeah, I shot her, but I didn't want her. to die. She's. She's harmless. Just. I. I I wouldn't have killed her son, either.

But, I don't know, man. I don't know. I didn't want her to I. didn't want her to die. So, I didn't shoot her in the face. I let them live cuz she was my sister. for as long as they was living, or she. would have been dead. And I kept telling them to stop messing. with me. Just leave me alone. I'm going. to get a job. It's just taking me longer. than most people. So, I I went to the station and I said, "Damn, I'm getting tired of this shit, man.".

I'm getting tired of it. And I couldn't sleep. And that's all I thought about, man. Just get rid of them. And then today. they came home. My sister ordered cleaning supplies. delivered to the house, so I cleaned the. house up. And then she came home. and they made chicken and macaroni and. and mashed potatoes. So, I'm like, all right, cool.

So, I went downstairs in the basement, I'm on my bed. And uh. my feet hurt cuz I got blisters on my. feet. So, I was laying down for a while. thinking my head I'mma go upstairs and. eat later. And I went upstairs, I don't see no food. nowhere. I'm like, man, what the. And that was the last straw, man. I. said, man, this shit, I'm tired of this. >> At one point, Muniz suggested that his.

brother-in-law. had been molesting Muniz's niece, so the. man's own daughter. >> You know, I went in the room, his head. is under the blanket. He got his hand on. his What the fuck could you possibly be. doing? Why are you under the blanket? With the door closed and all the cameras. are pointing a different direction, so. they can't see if she comes in or out of. his room. What are you doing? Your justification is that's my. daughter? What the fuck that got to do with. anything? Dude, your daughter shouldn't.

be under the blanket with you. She's 8. years old. Give her a hug, a kiss, and tell her get. You don't be hugged up with her cuz your. wife is not home? And then you sleep with her on the couch. and your wife sleeps in the room? Who does that? So, he he had to go. So, what I'm telling you is there's a. reason behind everything. next investigation takes us to Kent. County, Michigan back in June of 2024. It is the middle of the night and. dispatchers have gotten a terrifying. call. Both teens apparently start. screaming, which made Castillo. reportedly stop. The dad runs into the. room and holds Castillo. This is the. allegation. Holds him at gunpoint until. deputies could get there. >> We want to check your level of. intoxication. You want to take a PBT?

And then I I grabbed a freaking knife. from one of the like. the drawers. I opened one of the doors, and. I remember that there was one like one. door where that it was locked. So, like. I walked upstairs.

I saw I think it was the parents' dri-. rooms. Um I saw them. And. then. I walked towards like the lady, I don't. know her name to be honest. I I don't. know the family. And that's when. I did what I. what I did. Just started screaming.

And. I acknowledge what. I did and. I regret it every single second, but. it was already done, so. I dropped it and. I lost consciousness after that. Just. until like I was arrested. I remember every single second of it, but I kind of like lost consciousness. during like the moment that I did what I.

did until. all of that. and so. I'm not going to justify my actions. because. those are my actions and. I know I. I I don't know if I actually killed that. lady. And if I did. I'm going to live with every remorse the. rest of my life. And if I didn't. like if she didn't die.

I still like. the life of and. I'm still going to live with it for the. rest of my life. I'm not going to justify that I'm. innocent because I know I'm not. So. what I'm going to do is pay what. whatever I need to do. Whatever sentence I need to do. And I'm just being honest with you, sir. Because.

Not only did I This is not a mistake, to. be honest. This is not like something. that I can just say that. I can justify. So. I don't care like if there's a court, I. don't care like if there's like the. whole process. I'm going to. do whatever I need to do. Because there's never doesn't matter how. much work I'm going to be doing for the. rest of my life, it's never going to. justify what. I did. >> During the interrogation, Castillo.

admits that the attack was random. He. just picked a house. And his plans went. far beyond just hurting one person. Again, I warn you. What he has to say. is incredibly disturbing. >> So, you put your hand on her mouth. Um and then you started stabbing her. >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. Um. where. where did you stab her? >> Neck. I tried to like go through like. neck. >> Okay. Why why stab her in the neck?

>> The whole reason why because in my head. that was going to be like the easy way. to kill her. That's it. >> Okay. >> No specific reason like. So. To be honest. my at the moment of the. the incident, I was trying to. and probably. I was going to. try to kill the whole family.

I am not going to. explain the reason why because in my. head like it was just. To be honest, I don't. >> It just made sense to you at that time? >> It's. Yes. And once I realized what the I'd done, then.

And maybe like if I would have known. there was a hole like in the back, I probably never would have done that.

He was held on a.

$2 million bond, but the case never made. it to trial. In October of 2025, Castillo pleaded no contest to three of. the charges, assault with intent to. murder, home invasion, and criminal. sexual conduct. During sentencing, prosecutors read a statement on behalf. of the then 11-year-old victim. >> I remember feeling a lot of burning pain. and stinging pain. After the hospital, I. remember my wounds aching for a long. time. I remember feeling warm running.

down my body from the blood. I remember the smell of it. I can still feel the sting of the pain. This crime left me shocked, frightened, horrified for my life, and afraid. >> And when it came time for Castillo to. give his own statement, he got down on. his knees to beg for forgiveness. >> It took me some time to. write down something, find the words. But, to be honest,

I'm I'm wanted to come from God. When I When I was incarcerated, there were so many feelings, so much [snorts] re- re- remorse. Just. I couldn't explain it. And sometimes I still can't explain it.

I'm not trying to justify myself. I just want to ask for forgiveness, man. Yes. I've wanted to look at you, but I would. like to ask for forgiveness for the. families. So, if you don't mind. be honest. From the bottom of my heart, I ask for forgiveness. I know I don't deserve it.

I can't imagine all the nightmares. I. can't imagine anything that you have. felt for the past. 15. months. But I'm sorry. I'm truly from the bottom of my heart. I was a lost person. And I had found God. And made me realize how much. how much. I I truly am lost.

On the first. day of 2024, officers rushed to an. apartment complex for a teenager who was. unresponsive. EMS is already on the.

So, his mom, Talia Nelson, said that he. suffered from a rare disease as well as.

Awesome. >> According to an incident report, Nelson. claimed she was cooking food for her son. when she found him laying on the floor. unresponsive. The report also says, "Quote, it should be noted the condition. of the apartment there was a food plate. made and left on the counter. The. apartment is three bedrooms with only. two beds. sometimes sleeps in the bed with him. The room had a strong odor of urine and. feces." By the way, Travon is Nelson's. 18-year-old son. He apparently told. officers that the only food his mom. didn't allow his 14-year-old brother to. eat was food he was allergic to. Now, here's where everything changes. This. malnourished teen was pronounced dead at. the hospital and his remains were sent. to the medical examiner's office for an. official autopsy.

She entered no contest pleas to. aggravated manslaughter and aggravated. abuse, and she was sentenced in the end. to 32 years in prison in January of. 2026. New Mexico. This one, it all started out. as a welfare check. Woman had reported. that her aunt, 69-year-old Ernestina. Lucero, hadn't been seen or heard from. in weeks, something that Ernestina's. neighbors confirmed. >> Do you all know the lady that lives. here? >> Um I know that. >> How old are they? >> There's a dude living there. >> Leroy? >> Is it Leroy? >> I don't know. I don't know his name. Um. but he lived with an old lady. >> Yeah. >> Uh.

>> When's the last time you saw. >> Well, I know about like. two three weeks ago, >> [screaming]. >> um. Hold on, baby. Two three weeks ago, uh after a visit that she took me to, uh. I haven't seen her since. >> She took you? >> Yeah, she used to uh me and her, we. would go to the food bank together, um up the road at the Presbyterian. church. >> Ernestina? So. >> Um yeah, we would take her She would. take us in her little Charger. >> Uh-huh. >> And my car got towed from the TNC. management. They didn't want it here. anymore cuz it wasn't registered.

Um so she ended up taking us back and. forth after like a few times, I didn't see her again. >> Really? >> Uh I've seen this lady come by with a. red truck. a couple times asking if we've seen um. the lady in apartment two. >> Uh-huh. >> Um but we haven't seen her in a while. >> And according to an incident report, Ernestina's son, uh Leroy Veos, was. staying in his mom's home. He allegedly. told family members that he hadn't seen. his mom in two weeks after she left with. a boyfriend. Her family said they didn't.

know anything about that. >> He had like she left and kept coming. over asking my husband if he wanted to. hang out. This is my husband. He kept asking him if he wanted to hang. out and then he was lonely since his mom. had left. We had asked him like where did she go. and he's like she went to Mexico. He was saying a bunch of things about. her leaving to Mexico with her. boyfriend. Um and that they were on a. speaking basis right now. And then like. a couple days later she came and knocked.

and he's like hey by any chance do you. want me to buy my car? I'm trying to. make money for rent. That's what he. said. >> How long ago was that? >> Like a. like two weeks ago. >> You haven't seen her in a couple weeks. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> She took you in. >> I know my brother I know my brother. asked him like where your mom at cuz we. haven't seen her in a while and he like. stuttered and he just went silent. >> Neighbors also revealed that they heard. the mother and son fighting before. Ernestina supposedly left for Mexico. When they go to check out the apartment.

he's there. >> Leroy, you need to come out, man. We're. not going to go away. >> [snorts]. >> Just come out just come out and talk to. us for a sec. Come on, man. Yeah. Come on. He's coming to the front door. Open up. >> Sorry, man. I thought you were someone.

>> 13 years ago that happened? >> No, 13 years ago this. 4 years he has been after me. And I woke up my neighbors. and they didn't keep on. That's when I saw him. My heart skipped. a beat and I couldn't move. >> And this is like 4 years ago then? >> 3 4 years ago. >> years ago, where did this happen? >> Three house apartment apartment 601. >> Three house apartment apartment 605? Was he on the lease over there?

>> Mhm. >> Okay. >> He is in the dump over there somewhere. now. Nobody even missed him yet. >> Did you Did you put any of your mom out. in the dump? >> No, I don't know where I could have. >> [music]. >> So she's all. >> I'm going to leave her in the freezer. till you guys found her. >> Okay. >> When he appeared in court charged with. an open count of murder and tampering. with evidence, a judge ruled he needed. to undergo a competency evaluation. So. he was committed to the New Mexico. Behavioral Health Institute for. treatment and according to court records.
