Shay Mitchell | Khloé In Wonder Land
Today's episode, I am so excited for. I am sitting down with a mother, a founder of one of the largest travel brands in the world, BÉIS, an actress, to me a comedian, and just all around a bad ass girl. I love love love her. Shay Mitchell is coming on the podcast today and I could not be more excited.
This is equivalent to Oprah, so it is a big deal. It's a reusable episode, by the way. Okay. I'm going to start off with a very hard-hitting personal question. Okay, I love it. What rabbit. hole are you down? On what? Algorithm? It's weird. My algorithm is so [ __ ] up and I love it.
We I'm not going to lie, how many days? Like maybe 5 days ago, I had some time cuz I'm not. shooting right now and I went down a I don't know what hole I went down and I sent it to some of my. close friends that I do this and I'm like, "I need you to get on the same weird algorithm cuz this is. weird." And then I took my ass to Barnes&Noble and I bought three books cuz I'm like, this is it. It was I This is real. There's like corners of the internet that are just Dark. dark, weird,
so interesting and I'm such a curious person that I'm just like, oh, let's dive deeper. Oh, no, I'm. the same. I can I have the craziest algorithm. I mean, my brother and I go back and forth with like. dragons versus dinosaurs and like Okay. Like we get like really like, whose bones are they? I. get into like weird things of like people's like where they live. Like do you know there's like a. whole underground world to Las Vegas? Yes. Like that's the thing that I'm like and I just tried. to explain it to my mom and I didn't know how to repeat what I was reading or watching whatever I.
did and so I realized I'm not that educated on it. You just have to show it. You just have to show. the video. But that's what I'm saying. I need to share it with people. So like my DMs of my close. friends are the weirdest things cuz I just want them to get on that weird bandwagon with me. Well, I'm always here for you. Okay, great. Now that I know you also want to get into like weird. Not that I want to. I need to. I need to share it with somebody. I can't be the only one that. witnessed something. That's my thing. It's the only thing that gets me through life cuz life.
sort of sucks sometimes. So I'm like, yeah. Yeah, I need to talk about other people sucking. 100%. I. feel you. That's what it's for. That's what it's for. thing we got to talk about is like what a. diva are you that you sold base and we're just like on and poppin? Thank you. Honestly, it's. to take something from nothing. You You created this company on your own. And now we're just. selling for hundreds of millions? Well, like it's Samsonite and that was honestly all on my vision.
board. Like I'm a crazy manifester. Yeah. Like it's like my phone wallpaper. Well, right now it's. my kids, but usually it's my It's my manifesting like board. Um I've just always had I've I've. always had Samsonite on the board. So that for me because also it's like getting to learn from them. They've been in the game for so long. Like it's just like going back to school. I'm like, "Hey, so like sit down. So like when did you do this? What kind of materials are you using? What are the. best wheels?" Like I love to nerd out with them. Yeah. And they are the ultimate. So being able to.
now have them I feel like I've like jumped onto a cruise ship now. But also what a flex. Like, "Okay, you saw me growing and poppin so you had to acquire me so I didn't get too crazy Samsonite.". Okay, like that is such a a huge crazy thing. It's really awesome. And to like be able to do that and. have my girl there and like seeing the whole kind of thing. You know, it's it's it's cool. I feel. better now in my age than I ever have. Like I'm like now like, "Oh, this feels good." When people. used to talk about being in their 30s, their 40s, and all of that, I was like, "Really?".
And now I'm like, "No, no, I can actually attest to that." Well, cuz I You were at my 40th. Yeah, best time ever. Don't remember. It's totally the best time ever. the anxiety attack that I had? And I don't usually get that. The next morning when I woke up and I was like Why? Oh my god, what did they capture on camera? No, they were only there for like 30 minutes and we. promised I told everyone we're only going to show like And you know what? Yeah, no, I would never. do that. the most fun time ever. It was the most fun. Like the DJ was amazing. Yeah, it We were.
It was great. were at that point where we were like, "They don't play it like this anymore.". Like we were like it was your 40th cuz I was like they just don't have music like this anymore. have. music like this anymore. No one dances like this anymore. It was just so unhinged. And a state of. space. back twirls and I don't know what Kim was on. Never seen her act like that. I was like. stuff. I was like It was It was so much fun. It was so much fun. I need another 40th. When we grew.
up like The Golden Girls, I think they were like in their maybe 40th, 50th year and they're ushered. away to someplace in Florida in moo-moos and you're just like 40 is going to suck. We're going. to be so old. I have never thrived more than being in my 40s. I've never felt and I'm not saying that. cuz I am in it. I literally just feel great. Yeah. Are you excited about your 40s? I am. I was like, "You know what? Now feels like a good time to put on a red bathing suit and shoot people." Exactly. This feels like a great time. I would not have had the confidence to do that before. Like stunt.
on all of them. I don't think you ever figure it out, but I feel like I am better at balancing now. than before. And I also just give like I don't really care as much anymore. You know, I feel like. 20s I was like, "Choose me, choose me." And now I'm like, I'll choose. Yeah. Speaking of choosing. things, I know obviously you started your career as being an actress. You're still an actress. But. you're also this you're an incredible mother, and you have a partner, but you're this entrepreneur.
Do you have one role that you like cherish more than the others? Or that you feel like you thrive. better at? I feel like my kind of superpower is is really being in the moment in whatever that. is that I'm doing. If I'm like momming, then I'm momming. And if I'm at work, then I'm at work. And I kind of I mean, I would say that like that's where my focus is really good. It's like. a great quality to have, cuz not everyone has that quality. trying to like have have my body here,
but my head there. My head's in a million different things, but if I'm at work, it's about like a million things about work. If I'm with my girls, I'm like, oh, I really got to get that photo album started. Like, you know what I mean? I'm like, 6 years in, can I still start? I still need to fill out the baby book for my kids. Then I think about you, and I'm like, you probably have all your baby books, and I'm like I don't have the baby books. Kim Does she write letters? Cuz I know she's like written letter Kim Kim writes novels. But no, that's when I'm like, you know, maybe I could have done this little. But then at the same time,
I'm just embracing the chaos. Like, my house, you would lose it. Oh my god. It's a hoarder's palace. right now, cuz like Chloe, I People that have It is I promise you it is. It's actually would kill. you. I would die. I would send You'd pass out. Like, I would never have you over right now. I haven't had people over for 6 years. Anyways, when we move eventually, um it'll be great. But I. embrace the chaos. Like, even now where I'm living in like a storm of like boxes everywhere, I'm. like, you know what? The kids'toys are everywhere. I have all their princess costumes. Like,
that's not going to be like this If you're able It's not Okay, first of all, it's not, no matter what. But if you're able to live like that, and be like free and happy with it, go for it. Yeah. I'm like, go for it, girl. do aspire to have my cookies like in order. Well, I can't wait for you to move into the neighborhood because I'm coming over. Please. I and I love to. help an organi-like an organizational day. I'll do it. You don't even have to be there. Done. No,
that's probably better that I'm not. Yeah. Cuz just leave me the keys. I'll go in. That's a. dream. Like we're good. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Exactly. So, that's a dream. But I just like I can. I can be like in the present. Like right now I truly am here. I'm not thinking of a million. things. And I love that. That's really rare. And when you get older or I just think being. an adult adulting is adulting. We're going to have every single day. Yep. You have to learn to turn. off so you can be in the present or or else I just feel super chill. Like people are like,
"How do you do it?" or whatever. And I'm like, "There's a 10 plates in the air right now and. I'm just trying to keep them spinning. And if one falls, I'll figure out another way to. get another one." Or glue it back together. Or glue it. Have you always been really chill? Or. you think the older you've gotten? I say that I'm chill and then some people that are watching this. might not agree. I'm like good in the chaos. You know what I mean? Like when it's too calm and I. have nothing to do, like that period between like Christmas and New Year's, I hate that. Stop. Why?
I'm like, let's go. Okay, let's like start it up again. Okay. too much. That's a little too chill. You are like Kim. Kim can't handle it. Mhm. She needs to go, go, go and that's where you Yeah. of. put a couple of meetings on the books. Yeah. But I love people. I'm like I genuinely love it. Like I. love building things with people. I love getting to have creative discussions with people about. anything or just like conversations, but like being in front of humans, I actually genuinely. like when I choose. Right. Right. Cuz they're all also for me at least energy is so transferable.
And if I don't with your vibe, with Yes. the vibes, Yes. I need to remove myself. 100%. Yeah. 100%. Cuz I will even do a meet and greet or something, and just how I will feel so depleted. afterwards. Not that anyone had bad energy, it's just too much. 100%. if I'm in a smaller space, like I love it. Yeah. I thrive, and I love talking to people, I love hearing. anything. I love the crazier stories, the better. And I have a personality where people just tell me.
anything. Yeah. You get like therapist vibes. And I don't know why. They'll be like, "I'm having an. affair. Don't tell my wife, she's right there." And I'm like, "Oh my god, what?" And then I'm. like stuck with this story, but I love it. People don't tell me that stuff yet. You know, I mean, maybe they do. Therapist vibes, I don't know, a little bit. But like I kind of also do that. We. might get into that. When did you know you wanted to start your own business, and how did you know, and why did you choose bags? Bags. It's genius, by the way. Duh. Okay. So, I grew up in Canada.
We didn't have Targets. Anytime we would cross the border, we'd drive to Seattle, my first stop would. be a Target, and I'd be like, "Let me go into this section of toiletry bags." Weird. No, I love it. But like I didn't care about the makeup, like maybe I'd grab a Lip Smacker on the way out, just so I could have one thing in it, but I loved the toiletry bag. Like I loved the idea of like. organizing, bringing my stuff, so like I didn't have to be at home to like have my possessions.
I loved the idea that I could like feel good and like be cute in this little whatever it was, and like go to a friend's house for a sleepover. Like I just I loved that from when I was younger. And then I think, when I was on the show, I was like, "This is fun, but this idea of having to. wait by the phone for my next job, or like my next role, kind of is making me feel a little out. of control, cuz I can't control that per se." Um and then I really just realized how much I loved, you know, branding and marketing. I love social media. I think from being on a show that was so.
heavy in marketing and like we were on Twitter and I did this like play with Shay back in the. day when I was on Pretty Little Liars and like I loved that whole idea of like marketing the show. And then I was like, "Okay, could I do this with product?" And like I don't know, it just kind of. snowballed and it was a really organic fit. Like nobody I mean actually no, all my agents were. like, "Get into makeup. The multiples are insane. Get into fashion." I was like, "No. I love glam. We work with a lot of the same people. I think it's some of my most fun times, but I have no.
desire to get into that regardless of what the multiple is. I'm like,"I need to do what feels. right." And I've loved bags, and I've traveled so much, and I've seen what works, I've seen what's. out in the market, I've seen what isn't, and I was like,"Let me just try and do this my way.". Mhm and BÉIS kind of came together and here we are. But it truly is like my baby and like. I love it. I could do meetings all day. I love talking about new materials, new colorways. Like it's weird, but I just I obsess over it. Yeah. your passion.
And I think that's why it's so successful and doing so well because you know it's your passion. You're not just slapping your name on something. And I'm the same way with the glam world. Like. love it, I respect whoever's in it, but it's not I love glam and all of it. I don't want to. I don't have a desire to like jump in there. And it is oversaturated. Like let everyone Yeah. Yeah, everyone please keep making it. I love it. Yeah and I love buying it all and being a nut about it. When I launched Cloud, one of the biggest things I learned was that timing is everything.

That was because, I think, you know, Atlas and Rome, but really Atlas would always be in the bathroom with me. getting ready. And like I have flashbacks to that. I'd see my mom get ready for work all the time, putting on a red lipstick. I would just like sit there in awe of like all that goes into it.
Um, but I do take self-care like quite important. I I would, you know, get into a bath after I'd. put on a face mask, the whole shebang when I can. And she would just take such curiosity to it. And. like after a while, she'd be like,"Can I use that lotion?"I was like, "Oh, let me check the bag. No, you can't."She was like,"Can I have that face mask?"I'm like,"Could I put like what? Toilet. paper? No, you can't. No, you can't."And she like everything, like deodorant, face, anything I touch, she was like,"Can I have it?"I'm like,"No." But then I was like,"No, but self-care. is actually really important."You know, skin care is really important, even for newborns.
And I was like,"There should be things for you that are safe enough and gentle enough for your. skin that we can do together and have these like special moments of like mommy-daughter bonding, you know, that I love so much when I was with my mom."And um and so that's kind of how Remi. came about. I was like,"There's a way to mix care and play so that they're having fun while. also learning about the importance of taking care and taking that time for yourself." Yeah. And so the little masks came about. And like, you know, the other day, she had too much sun, we put.
on this aloe vera mask, which is essentially the same thing as aloe vera, just in a better form. that's not like pooping all over. And she loves it. And it's fun. We put our little robes on. We. were at a hotel having a little staycation the other day. And it's just like a cute. moment. It's such a cute moment, and I think it's genius. I also think your girls seeing you in so. many different genres is so important. Like They don't know what they're going to wake up to. No, but I love that. And it could be from having my kids see me in a meeting to working out, whatever.
I think it's so important cuz they do learn by action, and it's the self-care, all those things. they snowball into something so much bigger later in life. Yeah. But it's not about that with you. Like I love that. When Atlas is like,"Can I work out?"Sure, put on your running shoes. people are. like,"You're getting her to work out?"I'm like, "It's not about weight. I'm not putting her on a. scale."I'm like,"She's seeing an active parent. What's the difference if she is playing basketball. outside?" It's people are so weird. Like what is the difference? Like I don't know. But I think.
it's so important, and especially nowadays when no one leaves their phone. Right, exactly. And yeah, and I love her seeing that things can be hard, but like still pushing through them. Like I genuinely. I'm that annoying person. I love working out. I look forward to it. I do. Yeah, I do too. And. whatever, and and I think she also gets to see that side too, where I'm not like,"Come with. me to the gym."I'm like,"Let's go to the gym. Matt's here today. Like let's go." You know,
and like even if she sees me struggle or things are hard, I'm like, "Yeah, that's life. Let's. keep it moving."But it's fun. So I think it's a great habit. No, I'm the same. I love working out. What's your favorite kind of workout? Honestly, I would say mixing it up. Like I love strength. I. really got into like This could be the whole podcast, and people would be like, I'm shocked. Like I you know, and they don't want to hear but I I I love it. I love pushing weight Pushing weight, that sounds so aggressive. I love like seeing how much weight I can lift. Like what do you lift?
Like but I genuinely love seeing like getting better at being able to lift heavier. This is. so wild. Let me take a breath for a second. But, you know, there There a period where I. never did anything above 10 lb. I was like, I don't want to get big, and now I'm like, oh, no. I do. Not like bodybuilder big, like strong. Strong, every muscle cut that I have, I'm like, do you know how long it took me to get that thing? Exactly. I am embracing it, and now I'm not going. to cuz mine will deflate quickly. So, I'm like, nope, I've got to pump more blood into there. Yes.
I love it. I am such a weightlifting girl. Yeah, but you get up really early. I used to. I haven't. really recently. I just don't know how to do it anymore with of waking up? Oh, well, I get up. up. I wake up at like no later than 5:00 a.m. Do you have to set an alarm, or is it just So, now I sort of don't. Like this morning I got up at 4:50, but like on my own. And I'll be like, okay, you're pathetic, Chloe. what? And then what? I'll get up like today I had a spray tan on.
I had to shower, wash my hair. Yep. Then I I need like 30 minutes of like I listen to my. Bible app every morning, and just whatever is like my personal time and my coffee. Then I had to make the kids Now, both of my kids are in school, which I know should just be like, oh, I'm adding just one more, but it's really stressful with two going to school. Making the breakfast, doing the lunches, And you do the like real good lunches. I try to. I.
like to. Yeah, you I like to. I know my sisters are like, you're going to get over that soon. I'm. like, we're 8 years in, and I'm still doing it. I enjoy it. I know. If there's days that I am like, stars, I'm not cut like then I won't do it, but I do like it. I need just like now I have a little. thing that I'm thinking aside from being here. I'm like, add the star sandwich cutter and the. little picks. Like I have to. It's just It is, and I get it cuz it's not going to be forever. It's not going to be forever. I'm someone whatever holiday it is. It could be see the plates. Yeah,
I do the plates. Okay. Like in the best way you're like aspiring but you're all so like that. one that I'm like, oh my god, I need to bring the plates. I need the Easter You need the Easter. You need the picks that you put in the lunch box. just like pick your grapes out with your. grimy little fingers and like let's hope not not to get sick. mom comes over cuz she uses. my gym and she's like, here are the plates again. She's like, you're always on theme and I'm like.
But they will remember that cuz my mom was also like that and I remember it. But like when are. they going to True is eight. How much longer is she going to want the plates for before she wants. a beige ceramic plate? I know. So, I'm leaning in. I don't even think Tatum cares about any of it. No, it's in there. I hope He's four. He's like, I'm plates and he'll like shatter it. up with whoever his partner is in the future. Like he will be like, yeah. So, I know it's. ridiculous. I know it is crazy but it's so cute. brings the joy to life and that's what we need.
to do more of. If it brings the joy, you do it. Sometimes I wish someone got me a plate. Yeah, your mom has a whole plate pantry though. So, you also have that. do it for me. Right, okay. But I'm really into it. I lean in. It's good. I'm Yeah, I really will be ordering right after this. What's your ideal workout time? I'm really into the working out. No, the working out is. I'm not an early early bird like that. I'm a night owl. Like I will go to bed at like 2:00 3:00.
Cuz that's when the house is so I could wake up at 2:00 3:00. Right. Yeah. People either love you. love the morning and that's your silent time. Mine is at night. Okay. I come home, do all the things. I'm maybe watch an episode of something and then I'm on my phone. I'm on Pinterest. I'm like with. trying to think of trying to I love a pin. There's a lot of other apps and Like even if you're like, I could have made a Pinterest board just for today. Like what do I wear with Shay? But I. wasn't smart enough to do that. Yeah, I've Yeah, Pinterest for everything. Boards for everything.
Um I'm Yeah, such a fan. But Yeah, I don't know. It's my time where I can just. around. I don't know. I just I I I'm such a night owl. So, anyways, working out, I would say at 9:00. a.m. Drop the kids off, come back a little 9:00 a.m.er, start the day at 9:00 a.m. is perfect. That's that's perfect. 9:00 a.m. is my dream. Like, take the kids to school, get back home, do 9:00 a.m. That's like perfect. It is. I don't There's nothing wrong with that. at 5:00. I wake.
up at 5:00. But, you don't work out at 5:00. So, that's like, yeah. I used to. And then, I think. I came to my senses. Oh, that's a lot. Yeah, it is a lot and it's exhausting. And then, by like. dinner, you're just wanted to die. What time do your kids go to bed? They are like a a 7:30 8:00. I'm not I wasn't strict on that. We're pretty 7:30 8:00 is perfect. Yeah, yeah. No, it's good. But, that like it's been very know if they were night owls, too. Cuz some people have night owls.
Um, no, they go to bed at like 7:30 8:00. And perfect. Then, you have your alone time. Yeah. Do you balance well having time with Matt? We are both We're both on our laptops. I'm on an iPad, we're both It's so romantic. Um, I'm on my iPad, he's on his laptop falling asleep cuz he's. creative, like a creative genius himself and he is um, falling asleep to his work and it's so great. We'll watch like an episode of Like, right now we're in I'm always into Lioness. Which, have you.
seen it? No. Oh my god, okay. Okay, this like when we're done scrolling, Lioness was always held on a. Anyhow, um, we'll watch that and then it's like him just like asleep on the laptop. But, the watching is the quality time. But, that's the quality time. And I don't think there's anything. wrong with that. No, it's You guys have also been together for Yeah, 100 years. Yeah. What is. supposed to happen right now? No, nothing. Right. Like, this is But this is love. Yeah, it's love.
Like just don't talk. Let's watch a Like That's the aspirational love I need in my life. If you. want to talk to me and take more of my energy, I will kill you. No, but I do love like a prank. every Like I love to scare the out of him. I love it so much. I am that person. Like you don't know. what you're coming home to or where I am or like I just I get such a thrill out of like scaring the. out of people. you need help with the prank, I am here. I will be an accomplice pranks on my things.
Yes. That's what we need to do. I love it. move, if ever you need to ding-dong ditch or toilet. paper, any of our houses are up for grabs because we want our kids to be happy. to toilet paper your. guys's place. I'm like no, but I will take all the decorating for the Halloweens and the all. of that stuff. Like I I'm going We're I'm going to level it up in my lunch making, my decorating, my. What are they called? Housewarming gift is going to be. I think I'm going to just like Yeah. drop.
off crates of Perfect. festive holiday stuff. get better. Have you ever been to HomeGoods? Yeah, of. course. Okay, I was going to say I'm about to ruin your life. We're going to HomeGoods. I got like a. tree the night before Christmas and like literally pulled out my Z Gallery decoration from when I was. 19 and just moved to LA that was like all pink and lime green and I can handle as long as you. decorate That's not for me to judge. the tree the day before. The night before. before. Not even the.
day. Tell me about the Baywatch experience. It's been um it's been Yeah. An experience. an experience. We look great in a red bathing suit. Your body's crazy. It's so fun when you add. natural light like direct sunlight, but over the sand You could never I don't know. How much anyone's getting paid? Not in a million years. Uh yeah. Not in a million. years. It's a really humbling. It's so good. Um it's an experience. Listen, I'm going to be.
fully honest. I absolutely love it. It's an iconic show, obviously. And getting to shoot it in LA has. been really awesome. I was not somebody that would have normally jumped in an ocean like willingly, um or somebody that you would see on the beach that often. I more chose the pool. But I have. gotten stronger at swimming. I had to get in the Yeah, absolutely. And like it was shark season.
this entire season. I feel like sharks have been here more than ever. All I see on my for you page. Me and like Hassie, who's on the show, it's my whole DMs are like,"Hey, another shark sighting. We're getting in it tomorrow. Like, how are we feeling?"It was insane shark season. So, that was also a little added fun to it. I'm not going to lie. Like, when we were training though, I did get those um like toe shoes and stuff to run in. Like, I just the sand sometimes is a little. sketchy. A little spooky. Yeah. But um you know, it is beautiful and Wouldn't it be awesome if they.
they took you guys to like another Yes, another country to do this? Like They're like,"Here we. are. We're going to shoot here."Um yeah, I also pitched like a storyline of next year like me. being a hotel lifeguard. You know, I'm just like at Bel Air. I'd take a little siesta. That is a. much better scenario. No, but actually I have the utmost respect for them because that is like no. joke. It is insane. The training for them, what they do every single day. Even just being out.
there the other I mean, when we were shooting, I was watching the real lifeguards run out. He must. have ran out, I mean, 10 times in like 2 hours. And it's Like, thank God for them because what. they're doing is incredible. But I'm also slightly embarrassed when I'm around them. I'm like,"Hey.". Also reporting for duty." Just a little bit different. here. Yeah, but it's good. Talking about like cringing around Like, do you cuz you are so. good on social media? Like, so good. I can't film things. Like, I No, no. It.
Oh my god, I'm like dying. I'm like, if there's no one around, I'll film something cuz it is so. cringe. I just want to die. It's so cringe when I'm by myself. What? Oh my gosh. Like, when I have. to shoot something by myself I'm actually more embarrassed when I have to shoot something by. myself. always dying over anything you post. I'm like, literally will just You're so good. When I. have a team and like the creative can like, you know, like the vision comes to life, that's one.
thing. But if I have to talk to the camera Like, I tried vlogging by myself and it was just so. and but it is cuz like I also moved a little way a little bit. Like, I remember being on on. Pretty Little Liars and like starting Shake It Up and I started the YouTube channel. And. that was fun, but again, I had like a team. I didn't have to edit anything, you know, it was. incredible. I got to work with with a lot of fun people and get to travel. But now when I'm doing. it just to my phone, like if it's that to me, like the there could be a whole bloopers. It's.
Oh, I hate it. I hate it. I don't think I would ever think that. Well, that's great. Yeah, great after You make it look Yeah, you are. You make it look so easy. Just the me and the phone. together is weird. What do you film on? Like, do you film inside a TikTok app? I'm always so. 100%. I love that. That filter on the TikTok app, absolutely. Kylie, like most of the kids don't. The kids just raw dog all this stuff. They will post My entire They're all in their 20s and.
they're taking photos and they're just upping it uploading it. Just a whole You just You just did. a whole carousel of 20 photos. You We were just there. Like, I don't get it. Oh, no, everything. is perfectly curated. that. I need to see that. Yeah, I need to see that. Like, let's go through. this. Let me call my friend Sammy. Let's go through, is it this or that? Like, it's completely. curated. It takes hours. Hours. And, you know, a 6-hour plane ride might not even be enough. Good news for grateful pup parents this Thanksgiving. You don't show your kids on social. Yeah, I do. Obviously, they're a part of my life and like, you know, if I were to do carpet stuff, I'd love to bring them with me and. um all of that, but it's just it's like a it's like a interesting dance with social media,
you know? Cuz again, it's like you can say whatever you want about me, I can take the hit, but like anything about people that are close to me, I'm like, "Oh, or like base." Yeah. When I'm reading the comments, I'm like, "Say what you will about me, but when you. complain about this bag, um I'll [ __ ] kill you. I yeah, I don't know. It's like a weird. it's like a I'd like it's like a interesting dance. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. Like. there's so many cute moments that I'm like,"Oh, I want to post this."But then I'm like,"I. wish I could just select like 50,000 women that will appreciate this." Yeah. You know,
like the weird stuff that's on. I do want to know, what do your kids think you do? Cuz that's always. interesting for me. know what I do. I think they wake up and they're like,"Are you a lifeguard. today? Are we at base office?"Like they'll try and look and like get a vibe. When I'm not working, I'm not wearing makeup and I'm like in sweats, so they kind So then they're like,"We're not working. today." Yeah. No. No, we're not. She's very territorial over hair and makeup. Love. She.
loves to be in the room at least, and she would like a little touch-up herself if I'm in there. it. Yeah. wants to be in there, and she's like, "Who's doing it?"Like who's in Who's doing Glenn. today? it? Yeah, I need to know. Um It's so like it's it's it's funny. She'll come with. me sometimes to the base office or wherever. I brought her on set one time on Baywatch, and she. wasn't really that interested. She came into my trailer, and she was like,"This is it?" Yeah, she's like,"This is the size. I got to go. Time to go. Mom, you can do better." was like,"Okay,
I'll go home now." Awesome. Um so yeah, I bring them up. I asked that because True, I think is. like always just like confused. Like sometimes there's cameras, then there's a podcast. What. are we doing for Cloud? Or like just Fabletics, she's like,"I don't know how to explain what I do. So I'm just like just hang out with Mommy for the day." kind of great cuz I I I want them to. know that you don't have to just pick a lane in anything. Yeah. You know, like I don't ever. do anything on purpose to prove that point, but I feel like with the way that I live and the choices.
that I've made and anything with our relationship. They ask me all the time,"Why aren't we married?". Oh, do they know that? 100%. They ask all the time,"Why?" do you say to them? Um cuz Mommy and. Daddy are like partners and I just didn't want a wedding. I just like don't need it. It's just not. something I want. And then anytime somebody around me is like engaged and she wants to know the whole. story. Oh, yeah. then you look at it and you're actually watching these movies and you're in the. books. And every time it ends with like a happily ever after cuz you ended up, you know, running off.
into the sunset with somebody. Your prince. And so she'll always be like,"So who's your prince?"when. people get engaged. And I And I don't need that to just be her only narrative. Right. You know? Right. So not that I'm proving a point, but that just really is the life that she has grown up with. with watching her dad and I. And I'm kind of okay with it. Like anytime she says like,"Do. you want to get Why aren't you married?"And I'm like,"I just don't want it and you don't have. to be." Yeah. She's like,"Okay. Okay."And so she's like kind of You know what I mean? The.
wheels are turning. Um but it's like always been like that? Like since you were younger? That you didn't put emphasis on marriage? Yeah. Yeah. I'm like,"Did I have a Pinterest board of. what?"No. I genuinely I didn't. My parents have been together for 40 years. Like my parents. actually have such an incredible relationship. So it's not it's it's not even like I didn't have a. example of it. I really did. I just I don't know. Things could change in like 5 years. I just I love.
the freedom of like,"Hey, we're I'm choosing to be in this position with you right now." And like and. as he is with me, too. And it and it just kind of works, you know? I think if it works for you, it. works for you. There shouldn't be a cookie-cutter mold. And I love that you're showing your kids. that. Yeah. I mean, truly, I think you have it cut out. If I could live next door to my mom, that's. the ultimate. That's what should be the fairy tale ever after because It really is. That's the goal.
It is. It's the best. your stuff. Everything's pristine. remote. Like I do what I want. No, I love it. That's That's And then I just have to answer to my mom every now and again. Yeah. That's. it. Borrow some sugar. Get some whatever. There needs to be more story tale like fairy tale books. about that. I agree. It really is the way to go. Oh, I definitely brainwashed True. I'm like, "So. this is how mommy and daughters live. So one day you'll have your house and I'm going to. live next door to you." I will walk by your house with Atlas and I'm going to be like,"See,
this is what I'm going to be us one day. One day you and Romy living right next to me." It's what. every person should aspire if you can. I know. I'm going to pivot to a rapid-fire question. Okay. What is someone's worst travel companion habit? Oh. Like being antsy or like. like I'm all for a loose itinerary, but somebody that's just like waiting by the door. Like if you're just like waiting by the door like do something, I'm just like, "Let's take it easy.".
a vacation. It's not a vacation. A work trip. And this is not a work trip. If we're on a vacation, I can't have you waiting by the door like a dog wanting to be taken out. off the trip. We have to go to Egypt. It's No, I've never been. Oh, okay. have to go. Okay, yes. We have to. It's one of those places, too, where like you got to go with somebody who like just knows it cuz. I am a fake scholar of Egyptian history. Sure. Anything. Yeah, I would also love to know cuz.
I have one down deep I'm speaking of like the wormhole on the pyramids actually not being a real. like who actually built them because like that They are really heavy like those They're really. heavy. And if they didn't have the machinery like who was building that? Like were those aliens back. then? That's what somebody said. Yes. And then yeah cuz who else is doing it? Who's lifting that? Perfect geometry of it all. With nothing? With nothing. And no scalpel or whatever the. you do to hammer things. I'm very curious about it. We're going to find out. Where's Cleopatra?
So it's all that kind of stuff that takes up like some spaces. I don't go down crime though. I'm not a crimmer. Why? I know. I'm not. You want to know why? No, I'm not because. I feel like the world is kind of a little It can be dark. Yeah. And so I don't need to add. to it. Like I go watch Lioness, you know, and like Fauda and like different crazy shows but. I There's something about watching like a real That I'm not into. I'm like don't need to know.
about it. Don't need to hear about it. Like let's keep this happy and good for as much as we can. You know, I probably should take more of that. Yes. Cuz sometimes I get too consumed and I'm like. we're going to find who did that and I'm like I don't know these people. I have to mind my. own business. Yeah, cuz when the time comes there are questions I will ask but like not. now. Like let's just let things peaches and rainbows. Peaches and rainbows. I'm there. Is there one base product that you would save in a fire? The people. The The what?
I'm like my team. Either is not a product. Oh my god. You're like base product. Um base. product. You know what? I would say our roller because I need a lot of them when I travel. So, I would save our rollers. Yes, you can't live without them. What is your biggest mom hack? I'm like, well, I told you that I decorated the night before Christmas. I don't give the little.
sticks with my grapes. Mom hack, you know what? Not stressing about the small things and like. making things fun. Like, if I forget it's a theme day of some sort. I'll make I'll be like, you know. what Atlas? They don't know about our theme day. They used to dress normal when everybody else. was wearing spirit. Yeah, thinking on your feet. "Oh my gosh, you're so right."I'm like,"So, we're. like our special and we're wearing our normal clothes and we forgot and we didn't forget.". That we're not going to follow trends. Because it's just like.
how like the energy that you put out there. I'm also super cautious about that. I don't need to. stress them out. I don't need to like it's not that serious. It's not that serious. something, you didn't bring your homework this day. I mean, you're six and four at this point. But also like. it's not that serious. homework. Yeah. What are we doing to everyone? I do not know cuz on my exams, I just drew a whole flower garden on the back of them. Like it's that. Yeah, I am not. Yeah, even her homework, I'm like, this is crazy. This is grade one. It's grade one, but also you.
had our kids for eight hours. What are you giving us? this then? Or is there like an after-school. program we can do the homework section? This is crazy. I can second grade, she's now in third. We're just getting started. Second grade math, I was like No, I'm sorry, what? Have you ever. helped her with the projects? Like have you ever like I've done the projects. Yeah. too. And I get. really into them. Oh, I get so there's no way this teacher thinks my kid did that. It's completely. aligned. She She tries to put a sticker. I'm like, "No, we're not."I'm just kidding. We do,
but like then I move it a little bit. It's like how my mom used to do our Christmas trees. I would decorate it, then I wake up the next morning be like, "Where is the ballerina?"And. she's like, "No, she's here."She's over here and I'm just completely rearrange the whole thing. I I I do enjoy a fun broad project. They don't think they're doing it. No. And I get really into. it. I'm like, everything has to be perfect. I'm so obsessed. Yeah, I get the glitter pins hands out, like all of it. It's so good. lean in. I lean into that. That's the once a year. You Okay.
You do lean in. What is one beauty treatment you'll never give up? One beauty treatment. I'll never give up. Um I would say It could be a facial and Yeah, no, I love a facial. I love I have my like loyal team of people. Like I'm like I love a team. to the glam stuff. Like. Flavia, I love a lymphatic massage. I've seen her since like I mean, for so many years I've seen. We've seen all of them since do your videos of like a day in my life. What is it to not look like.
a high-maintenance girly? things. Like all the millions of appointments to like full-time job. job. Yeah. It's a full-time job. I would say Flavia, I'd say great facial, I'd say a lash. lift is like really been a fun go-to. done that. Kim's obsessed. I know. Would you go to water all. the time. Ooh, and they still coming out? That was the only thing that would like hold them up. Okay. I need to do a lash lift. Baker brows, that's my that's my girl. But yeah, nails I mean, the.
whole thing. It's like all of them. All of them. But I also like enjoy it cuz then I get to see. them. We like catch up. I love like it's a gossip sesh, right? I think after time like I've known. all the people that help me out for so many years that now there's like a relationship. So, I don't. ever feel like I have to be like performative, put on like I'm coming in my sweats. I'm like, "How's your kid? Forgot his name. What's Like and it's fine, and it's chill, and it's. I just like they're like my extended family. They like help keep me together. So, I love it.
And sometimes I like I just feel good after those gossip sessions. Like even though I'm. going to work and we're still needing to focus and be serious. I like need those sometimes. What is your favorite Pretty Little Liars memory? Those earrings are so insane. Oh my god. Wow. Did you see that? You should have your hair like pulled back. Like let them shine. Those are stunning. Okay, sorry. I was just blinded. Thank you. Um what did you say? Truly.
What were you saying? What is your favorite Pretty Little Liars memory? Or do you have one? so many. That was the best like I couldn't do that show now in my 30s. Being on a show for that long obviously. would require a lot of time, but in my 20s it was fabulous. I mean just being on set like genuinely. we all did get along um for the most part and it was I don't know. Again, doing the stupid pranks, getting free food. I loved crafty. Like that was unheard of. I came from doing bottle service to.
then being on a show where they like "What do you want?" I'm like, "All grocery shop." Like. I saved so much money and I loved it and you know, I yeah, did not hold back those years. I loved it. Um But it's just so great how like things work out cuz like you said if you probably had that. opportunity now, you would lean in and enjoy it, but not the way you did and right. I feel. that way about so many things. Yeah. So perfect. I mean as friendships do, as relationships do, as it all does. It like ebbs and flows. It's yeah, that was a great show to be.
on. Be perfect show for me in my life at that time. Do you have a lot of friends that you. did when you were younger or do you have like now that you're getting older and going into your 40s. That's so crazy. I'm still like you're looking at your kids sometimes and you're like. you're like my little si-I don't have sisters, but I'm like mom like when my mom's here I'm like get. her out of my room like as if they're like little sisters. Like it's weird, but sometimes I'm like. like I'm a like Well, no. I think all the time I can't believe I'm responsible for people.
Like I think Yeah, but you're good. You're like real like again, like you're a bad you're doing. things like stuff. No, no, no, you go above and beyond. You are like the mom of all moms. You are. It's kind of crazy that I have two kids. You know what I mean? Like that's that's the crazy. part. And it's not wait for you to move in. Send them on down. We do kids things all the time. My. house is rotating of kids. I send yours over. Great. It's crazy. I do love it because when I.
did bring them to the birthday party I was like, "There you go." And then they kind of forget how. old they are and stuff. You know what I mean? But I'm like, "Let's just remember this one.". This is maybe the most that I've ever talked about mom stuff. Like no, truthfully, like I. know, it's great. It's really good. It's probably good for but also I. get like we don't need to be labeled. I also get frustrated that just because someone's a mom, I do lean into the mom world so this might be like because you are like No, but I like it, but I don't like at the same time. that it's what most people want to talk to me about. I'm like,
"We have other things going on." Like Yeah. And also think it's a good balance. Right. And on that, when people are like, "How do you balance it all?" You didn't ask me that. Yeah, how do you balance it all? But how I would have answered would have been like. I like my eye would have tweaked a little bit just because I think to Matt and Do you think. anybody asks him how he balances it all? No, they don't. And and for any guy, not just him, but like.
I just it's so annoying. I don't know. It's like I don't know like how he is. Right. Like I just like. we figure it out. We figure it out. And we have a insane team and I have an incredible village. Absolutely, there's so much support there. But we figure it out. We figure out how to build the. support team if you can. And I just that's one thing where I'm just like I don't love to feel. the like inequalities of that. I get it, and it's true. No one would ever ask.
that same question. That's crazy. "So, my next question is you balance it all?" balance it all? Well, no, I had the best time with you today. This was so chill. That was it? I don't know.
