Khanna calling for him to be imprisoned, jailed, etc. And here to discuss these. ravings of a lunatic with me or is the. person in question Congressman Ro. Khanna. Congressman, you came on my. podcast, we spoke about Elon Musk and. now he's completely melting down. >> I didn't realize a few minutes of. conversation with you Jennifer would get. the world's richest person to have a.

total meltdown on X. I mean, doesn't he. have better things to do than talk about. our conversation? He's fired off seven. tweets. He said that he wants to sue me. He said that he wants me in jail. And. what's sad about this is it's not. intimidating to me, but it's basically. trying to silence any criticism. And all. I did is cite an academic study, the. Lancet study, which has said that those. USAID cuts that Dodge made potentially.

could lead to the deaths of millions of. children around the world. I didn't even. think it was a very controversial. It's. a UCLA backed. academic study. And the response is to. to put me in jail or sue me. I mean, it's really a a mindset into how the. oligarchy operates. >> Yeah, and the fact that he thinks he has. that power to do that. He's a private. citizen now. And to think that he has. the the reach of the DOJ is.

is really troubling. Let me ask you. this, as it pertains to that study, a. federal judge found that Musk likely. acted as Dodge's de facto leader in. dismantling USAID ruling it likely. unconstitutional. The lawsuit is still active with a. separate class action by USAID. contractors also moving forward as of. April 2026. So, your job as a. congressman, part of it is oversight, correct?

>> I'm on the oversight committee and we. voted to subpoena him because it must. get a side of the story that he now. seems intent on saying that it didn't. lead to the potential deaths of millions. of children. He had the opportunity to. come before the oversight committee and. actually comply with the subpoena and. explain what he was doing. He never did. that. He had the opportunity to actually. show that he was acting in a. constitutional way. He never did that. He. ignored Congress. He in acted at.

basically dismantling. parts of of DOJ. and now he instead of taking. accountability and saying okay, yeah, let me come to Congress and explain what. I did. or provide transparency in what I did, he's basically threatening any member of. Congress who's willing to ask ask a. question. and he's saying look, I'm going to come. after you. I'm going to come after you. financially and sue you. I'm going to. come after you by telling my buddies in. the Trump administration to to try to. put you in jail.

>> Is does the question still remain for. you all and for this judge? If. what he did was it legal? Like nobody. voted for Elon Musk and the president. just made up this organization DOJ, put. him in charge of it and he went and made. a lot of decisions. undemocratic decisions that nobody. really voted for and is there a question. as to the legality of what he did and. that oversight wants to explore?

>> Absolutely. There's a question of. whether he blatantly violated. congressional statutes. You can't just. go in to the executive branch, even if. you're the president of the United. States, you can't go in and just say. well, I don't want to follow the law. that Congress has passed and Congress. passed a law about what money should be. in US aid and what those agencies should. be and he way exceeded. in my view that the discretion that he. had as an executive branch. And to your. point, he was it's not even that he was.

a president, he was a appointee. that. allegedly. violated the law. And that that is a. legitimate That's why you have a. oversight committee to do that exact. work. >> And Mehdi Hasan, our friend, has chimed. in here. Kylie, pop up this tweet. Mehdi. says, "It's funny that Musk wants to sue. Ro Khanna over his speech because number. one, Musk claimed to be a free speech. champion and absolutist, which of course.

he isn't. Number two, Khanna simply. linked to an academic study of deaths. from USAID cuts, which Musk presided. over. Number three, Musk just called. Khanna a robber and an insider trader, which is way more defamatory and. actionable under US libel law as. statements of false facts. So, maybe. it's time for Khanna to sue Musk.". First, answer the part about Elon Musk's. mirage that he is a free speech.

absolutist and is now triggered about. our podcast. And number two, about him. constantly defaming other people. >> Well, why doesn't he come on and debate. me here on your podcast, Jennifer? It's. an open invitation. I mean, what's he. afraid of? I thought he was a free speech person. That's what free speech is. And yeah, I don't know whether his.

comments calling me a robber and. going after me are defamatory or not, but I don't believe in just suing people. I disagree with. If I If I. were bringing lawsuits against everyone. who would have who has defamed me, I'd. be doing nothing other than suing. people. But, guess what? I'm actually. thick-skinned and I actually believe in. debate. And I thought that was the whole. MAGA ethos. We're tough. We're going to. debate. We're not just going to hide. behind lawfare. Well, come debate. Come.

And. have you seen any documentation to. support the veracity of these claims? >> No, I'm not. And we invited him to. Congress. We said, "Okay, if you want to. show that there are programs that. Congress has authorized that aren't. working, come before Congress, show us. what those programs are, make the case.

to Congress for why they need to be. curtailed." Does anyone believe that if. he came to the American people and said, "Here is my evidence of fraud," that. Congress is going to say, "No, no, yes, we just want to keep spending on fraud. Of course not. But he didn't come a. single time. He didn't make the case to. the American people. He just started to. engage in the restructuring of DOD and. the academic study that I cited shows. that this had real-world consequences. Real-world consequences for millions of. kids who have no voice in the political.

process. Zero voice. And if someone here. is not going to speak up for them just. out of humanity, then no one will speak. up against them. And you know, and then. he starts lashing out against. me or you know, they they ran on all. this stuff against me. 63% of the vote. We just had this. election, you know. So, you know, they can't they can't be beat. The lies aren't working. and they they are afraid. And why are. they afraid? Because they've got a guy. from Silicon Valley who knows their. game, who knows them, who represents. that district saying, you know what, you. can actually pay a small modest tax so. everyone has a fair shot. You know what, you it's not cool what you did with DOD. And I'm not afraid of them. And this is. what scares them because if I'm going to.

be doing this, then maybe 434 other. members start doing it and that's why. they're going after me. >> And if I would think [clears throat]. that if I were triggered by this, there. might be something where I feel exposed. And scholars say that USAID helped the. United States with quote soft power. And. Elon Musk and the Heritage Foundation. and this is what they suggest. And MAGA. wanted to start plundering.

Austin and hide in a bunker bunker for. only a limited amount of time. At some. point, the law will catch up to him if. it is too big to rig and uh.

Hakeem Jeffries gets the hammer. Um you guys have every intention to. figure out and pick up where he won't. let you go to pick this case back up. again, correct? >> Absolutely. And that's why he's upset. That's why he's saying that I'm going to. sue him or let's have uh the Justice. Department go after him cuz he's hoping. that maybe he can intimidate uh other uh. members of the committee that when we do. become chair, that uh we won't subpoena. him. But has he met people? Has he met. Robert Garcia? Has he met uh people like.

Summer Lee on this committee? They're. not going to be intimidated. These are. people who are in public service. They're tough. They're in it for. justice. Uh and we're going to have. accountability. And just to give you a. sense of how powerful that subpoena is, uh President Clinton and Secretary. Clinton, when they were subpoenaed to. testify in front of the Oversight. Committee, they had to comply. I mean, this former president of the United. States, former Secretary of State, they. ended up complying because they did not. want the. House of Representatives to hold them in.

criminal contempt. Uh and uh Elon is. going to realize that once we're in. power, uh we're going to have a. legitimate subpoena and and he's going. to comply. The difference between our. side and their. I don't prejudge the matter. I'm not out. uh prejudging uh his guilt or or talking. about retribution. I just want. accountability under the law. And we. will be fair. But what we will not allow. for is people to be above the law and. evade justice. >> And that's something I feel like so many.

cultural shifts have happened with Trump. and the last frontier is obviously Trump. has been able to get around the law for. a long long time. And now his acolytes. want to be able to get around the law. And I feel like it's something we really. have to fight for accountability, regardless if you're the richest person. in the world and quite frankly. especially if you were the richest. person in the world, the law should. especially apply to you because you have. so much privilege and so much access.

that we need to hold these forces. accountable. My last question for you is. if there cuz it doesn't look like the. president is super healthy and it just. feels like every day the news cycle is. bananas. I mean let's face it. What's. going on with the reflecting pool all of. this insanity insanity that we watch all. the time. Ruth Ben-Ghiat said that she felt like a. lot of these oligarchs that. gambled with Trump, that gave him a lot. of money are now seeing that J.D. Vance,

Trump is setting him up for failure, that he's not going to be the heir. apparent and they're all kind of. entering [clears throat] this psychosis. They're all kind of spinning out a. little bit and that's how I read into. this. I read all sorts of crazy. about Musk all the time online. I mean. it's hard to even keep up. The fact that. you triggered him so much tells me that. there's a lot of meat on the bone here. Let's say, let's fast forward to January. and you have majority.

How quickly are you guys, your oversight. committee, or how prepared are you guys. going to be to accelerate investigations. into these types of potential. crimes and or illegalities? >> Day one. And he was triggered not just because I. said it because I said it on your. podcast and. he knows how big your reach is. I mean. the fact that the New York Post covered. it was because they know how big your. reach is. But the through line of my.

work has been accountability. And we saw it work against Orban in. Hungary. Magyar ran. saying that he had covered up a sexual. abuse scandal. So you look at what we. have done. We worked with Massie on the. Epstein files and that was the first. real blow to the Trump administration. I. mean J.D. Vance in the situation room. covering it up because they knew that. covering up for sexual abuse and. pedophiles was something the American.

people wouldn't stand and they didn't. like this idea there was a group of rich. and powerful people who were above the. law. At the time even Musk was saying. that they shouldn't cover up the Epstein. files. And then, you know, so that. triggered him Trump's posting against me. etc. because of the Epstein files. He. went against Massie. And then. I've said that, you know, Musk needs to. be accountable under the law that you. can't just put $300 million in to. something elect the president of get. appointed and through your decisions and.

agency on which millions of lives depend. and think that there's no. accountability. And that triggers him. What does that show? That more than. 15-point plans, which I love, and more. than all of the things that the. Democrats care about, we've got to show. the guts to hold people accountable. And. when we do and when they attack, it. actually exposes their weakness and it. builds the kind of popular support that. we're going to need to have huge. majorities in 2026 and beyond. And I. know I love Robert Garcia. He is he is. one of the most effective chairs as is.
