[Music]. yeah Germaine Jackson yeah I like the. way you you sounded it out wow it's only. one Germaine and only one your majesty. so it is well established that. celebrities often name their kids weird. things now I will interject here that in. some small Circles of strange people who. call themselves mythical Beast we may be. considered pseudo celebrities we're not. really celebrities but we have weird. names and we also named our kids weird. names so I think it's interesting for us. to explore the ramification of having a.

weird name or naming your child a weird. name because every child has a parent. who named them and and I think the best. example about I think well no there are. some nameless children oh sad let's not. go there the best example of this of. course you know my name's R your name's. link I have kids lock and Shephard you. have Lily and uh L and Lando Lando I. kind of feel like we were flirting with. a little bit of you know weird name. isness for a while and the grandparents. my parents your parents kind of winked.

along as we named our kids lock and. Shepherd and Lily Lily and Lincoln are. not weird Lincoln is after you and Lily. is a common name for girls now but you. really you you potentially towed a line. or in in lots of people's minds you may. have crossed a line an imaginary line. when you went with Lando now here's a. story of how how how how let me say that. again how we came to name our third. child Lando you know I mean for those of. you who are married who who have. children you might understand what I'm.

about to say that once you have a. certain number of kids then you reach a. conversation of. negotiation associated with should we. have another child so you know after two. we waited a little bit longer uh to. think about having a third child and. Christy was thinking about it more than. I was she wanted a third she wanted a. third a little bit more than me I I love. you Lando and I'm glad that you're here. but at the time I just wasn't sure you. know I just I just didn't know but then. the thing that put it over the edge for. me is I said hm I have a bargaining chip.

here so I said to Christy I said listen. I'm fully on board in participating in. having a third child if I get to name. the child her. loss and I know I wanted to stay in the. L's and we were watching Star Wars with. lilan Lincoln and I was like let's just. simplify it let's pick an L name from. within Star Wars and lo and behold uh. Lando calarian and you know I'll be. honest you know I was also thinking. about the fact of that ation that I knew.

I would have with lots of people it's. like whoa Lando could your child be. named after Lando calan the coolest. character in all of Star Wars and my. response would be yes and you know and I. would feel cool I'm just being which. feeds my theory I know this is true of. me is and I think this is why. celebrities do. it people name their kids weird names. not for the kids sake but for their own. sake it is a selfish endeavor. Mr named your kids Three L's you you.

have an L I did that just to I did that. simplify it just to simplify just to. narrow it doesn't simplify because when. you're when you're yelling at them you. just start with an l and you're like you. can go anywhere I you know they all. deserve it that might at any time. usually I mean but lock and Shephard are. still pretty interesting names people. think that you name them after the. television show Lost right and listen. and I'm I'm the first I'm the first to. admit I'm the first to admit I named. them because because my wife and I.

picked those names totally separately. lock we picked we both like that name. independently 12 years ago even before. we got married uh Shephard Jesse has. always like the name Shephard we happen. to be fans of loss at the same time we. were picking names but it never crossed. our minds until two years later somebody. was like you named your kids after Lost. characters and we're like uh no but that. is a good theory but you still but did. you do it because I did it for me you. did it for you we did it for us okay. that makes me feel better I mean not I'm.

I'm totally open with admitting it I I I. have a I have a theory about what it's. going to do for them personally but we. named our kids those things things. because both my wife and I have an. interest selfishly and kind of seeming. like oh we're a little different we. we're not going to name our kids that. we're not going to go on the don't say. another name because it's going to we're. not going to go on the top 10 most. common names from last year and pick one. of those because we're not common I'm. I'm just being honest with you well I. will I will it's more defensible because. we have weird names and I will say it's.

been a good experience for me I take. pride in the fact that my name is is. different so it's like huh what Zelda. what is that I was like no Zelda was. named after me not Zelda but link the. character in Zelda but the whole game. you know was spawned by me not true but. I do say that but the question also is. so makes me feel it makes me feel cool. so I was like okay I will give my kids. the gift of an interesting name and I. would be more risky the more kids that I. have because you know like I've already. established by the time you get to three.

it's like it's just all bets are all. well that's the real question I mean. we've established that we named our kids. weird names for selfish reasons because. we wanted to seem like we were a little. weird or something but then the second. question is what does it mean for the. kid is it a disadvantage and I will not. I will say that's not the only reason we. named our kids things interesting we we. are creative people who like to express. ourselves and a name is an opportunity. to express yourself it's not it's not. but I'm saying it's about the parents. when kids name their kids something it's. about the parents it's not about the. child even exist it's the wom probably.

and so but the question is is there a. line that you can cross because I didn't. name my kid your majesty I didn't name. my kid Moon Unit you know I didn't name. a kid something that is Sage Moon Blood. to to me I don't think there's a line if. you give them a way out like Lando's. middle name is James you know for pen. Gillette to say Moxy crime fighter she. has no other options her middle name is. crime fighter she can't it's not like. it's Cindy Moxy Cindy you know so Lando.

has a way out you know if he starts. getting Flags like hey I'm James and if. he wants to change his name to something. else then I'll respect that it's it you. know he can do that I I sincerely hope. he doesn't that he'll see it as a gift. but he has an option that you cross the. line with both names are crazy it's a. name though the Lando is a name it. existed lock and Shepherd are also names. they're also objects but it was a name. somewhere well if we had a Moon Unit. Moon Unit is a thing it's a unit in the. on the moon if we yeah and what is that.

if we had a daughter Diva thin muffin do. you know you know what I was going to. name the daughter right D.A thin muffin. no ninja I was going to name our. daughter ninja if we had another. daughter and I just I told chrisy and. everyone I was like listen it's just. Nina with a J okay but you're saying. that would be too far that would have. crossed the line here's how you know. when you cross the line when you're. introducing your you have to think about. the moment in their lives when they're. introducing themselves okay when Lando. introduces introduces himself he doesn't. do that yetz he's only three right when.

starting when he introduces himself and. he says I'm Lando people are going to be. like oh that's an interesting name. Landon and then they get past it and. then they have a normal conversation. when you say my name is Moon Unit the. only thing the person is thinking of did. she her name is Moon Unit it it derails. everything you once you cross a line and. the whole focus of every interaction. that you ever have is about your. freaking name that's when you cross the. line and I think that calling a girl. ninja would do that what's your name. Ninja.

ninja like a you're a ninja you walk. around quietly if you KN yes but if and. if you knew the person it would it would. suddenly morph into the person's name it. wouldn't be a cool occupation anymore. but every single time that ninja. introduced herself to people they would. expect her to like throw a Chinese star. at them you you get what I'm saying that. Lando I believe is completely within the. the the the the imaginary line you're. just being nice you don't have to say. that if you don't think it's true no I. think it's a cool name it's like Orlando. without the.

I I'm being more definitive and Lando. yeah it's like just it's not or Lando. there's no choice here it's just Lando. okay yeah but Orlando some people named. Orlando Orlando so yeah I'm not being oh. that short for Lando no short for.
