We Tried EVERY Food At McDonald's
- We're trying everything on the McDonald's menu. - Let's talk about that. (bright music). Gooooood Mythical Morning. - The Golden Arches. That's not just what my wife calls my eyebrows. - Okay. (laughs). - To many, they're also synonymous. with a fast food chain called McDonald's. - I've heard of it. And today we're finding out the best thing on the menu. by eating all of it. It's time for.
Gut Check McDonald's edition. - [Megan] Hello. - Hey. - Hey Megan. - [Megan] Hey, today you're going to be tasting. all 32 items on the McDonald's menu. That's everything except breakfast. - All right. - [Megan] No breakfast. Got it? - Got it. No breakfast. - Yes. - [Megan] No breakfast. - Don't complain about it. - [Megan] Yeah and for a pallet cleanser, you're going to have water in these 1970s collectible. McDonald's Grimace mugs. - Oh, that's Grimace playing basketball. I bet ya he can box out.
- Oh yeah. He'll make you grimace. - Grimace gets lots of rebounds. - Never understood why you would want a food mascot. to be named after a facial expression. that expresses distaste or disgust. - Because it's a rebranding of it. - Okay. - They got Grimacing back. - Oh, I also have a scoring chart to help me out. - This is the most complex scoring chart. I've ever seen. - You've gotten very. complicated with it. Oh, let me go this way. Zero, 10, that's what my face looks like.
20. And then the... oh yeah. - [Megan] Jenna said. this was her sleep paralysis demon earlier, and I fully agree. - So when do you start liking it? There you go. - 70. - [Rhett] I won't be looking at that. (backstage chuckling). - Two mouths! 90 and boy, I really like it like that. - Look at that. - And then I don't like it anymore, but liking it and not liking it kind of look the same. - [Megan] The flesh in between that's horrific. - [Rhett] Ugh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- Sorry, all right. I'll try to use this. It's ingenuity. - [Megan] All right. We're going to begin with the burger category. starting with the humble hamburger. - Just a hamburger. Why would you get one? - Because you don't like cheese? - It doesn't have cheese. It's not as good as it could be, but I like it. - It's a big disappointment to me. I'm giving it a 25. - 65. - [Megan] Okay, up next we have the cheeseburger.
- There we go. - Okay. - Classic. - I got to pace myself. That was a big bite. - Still pretty bread heavy. - It does need more meat to be perfect. - But the onions kind of become a star. - But I really like it, 72. - 50. - Are you telling me. Okay, okay. Just because people will say things. You're saying that - I like all of it. - you didn't like the hamburger. - No, I didn't. - Like you disliked it.
You would rather have not eaten it. - Yeah, 25. I'd rather have nothing. - And this cheeseburger, like if I was like, "Link, I got you a cheeseburger. from McDonald's" and you were hungry, you would say, "Meh." - But I would eat it. - That's what a 50 tells me. - But I would eat it, yes. - I would be like, "I'd eat the hell out of that thing.". So, but 72, I got a lot of room to go. - I have even more room. So yes, you verified that's my wishes. - I don't think it makes any more sense. - [Megan] Okay, the McDouble.
- Okay, now we're talking. More meat. - Now the ratios are getting better. - Is a McDouble a double cheeseburger? - [Megan] No, we're going to have the double cheeseburger. in a second, but this one has two patties. Double cheeseburger has two slices of American cheese. - And two patties. - Oh, it's got double the cheese, double the meat on the double cheeseburger. So this is for a person who wants more meat, but not as much cheese. I don't know how to feel about that. - Well, I feel 70. - It's definitely better than the regular cheeseburger.
I'm going to give it a 78. - [Megan] All right, let's bring in the Daily Double. - Daily Double. - Well, what's that? - [Megan] Difference is this has mayo, tomato, sliced onion and lettuce. versus ketchup, mustard, pickle and diced onion. - Oh, wow, I didn't even know about this. So it's a ketchup-less. - This seems like something you'd like. I do like it, but you don't get a lot of ketchup. - Yeah, mine doesn't have the tomato, which I appreciate. - I didn't know this was a thing. This is a discovery for me.
- It doesn't feel like McDonald's though. - Yeah, it's missing something. And you need that ketchup and mustard. - I'm actually going to 65 it. - I'm 66 it. We've almost converged. - Yes, we have. - [Megan] Now we have the Double Cheeseburger. - Finally! - Okay. So double meat, double cheese. - Look at all that cheese. - Man, this is a good bite. This is a good bite. - If you're going to add another burger, add another cheese, bro. (backstage chuckling).
- 91. - 88. - [Megan] Okay, next is the Big Mac. - Aw, baby. - That's classic. How do I feel about that bread in the middle? I never think it's necessary, but then when I eat it, I'm like, there ain't nothing wrong with this. - It's so nostalgic. 90. It's not a 91. I like the Double Cheeseburger a little bit better,
but it's so good. - Yeah, you're right, shoot. - Don't be swayed. - No. I'm going with 91. - Oh. - [Megan] All right, bringing in the Quarter Pounder with Cheese. - I forgot about the Quarter Pounders with Cheese. - Oh my God. So there's cheese on the top and bottom. - [Megan] Double cheese. - That's good too. That's a good ratio. - I had a bad experience with one. of these when I was in middle school. - Okay. - I haven't really fully recovered. - Elaborate Grimace. (backstage laughing).
- It wasn't fully cooked in the middle. - Okay, well, don't hold that against this. - 88. - I'm going for 79. Something about having two separate little patties. versus one bigger one. - I don't disagree with you. - The big one's not as good. - [Megan] Next we're bringing in the Quarter Pounder. with Cheese Deluxe, meaning we have mayo, lettuce, and tomato added to this one,
but not yours. - Ah, ah, ah. - But not what? - [Megan] You don't have tomato. - I just need my finger onto it. I know that people are like, why don't you just feed yourselves? Because we make the rules. - I think that, and we have to go so fast, which is what we're maybe not doing. - But I did have to touch that one. - I'm at 72 for this one. - This is a significant drop for me to 70. - [Megan] Now we have the Bacon Quarter Pounder with Cheese.
- What? I've been afraid to get this. Bacon is very smoky at McDonald's. It's like you taste it before your tongue's even touched it. - The bacon is strong. I do like it, but I do not believe that the bacon. makes a better experience. I think it sends it down to a 78 for me. - Especially on a quarter pounder. Yeah, I'm at 62. - [Megan] Last up, we have the Double Quarter Pounder.
with Cheese. - That's a lot of meat. - I've been scared of this too. That's ambitious. - If I order this, I try to keep it a secret. (backstage laughing). You know what I mean? I don't whisper it. I'm like, hey, hey. I slide just a note over. They think they're getting robbed. and it just says Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese on it. There's a little shame. in getting that much meat on a burger.
- But compared to like other burgers. you would get at like restaurants. and even if you go to like your favorite. smash burger type place, you're probably in a similar meat... - Meat ratio, but something about that much meat. throws off the McDonald's-ish of it. You know what I'm saying? Like the ratio. - Yeah, 49. - I still like it, but I'm going to give it a 61. - [Megan] Okay, that concludes our burger category. We're going into the chicken and fish category. - Chicken and fish.
- Hold on, I feel like this is Grimace time. - Yep, I've already Grimaced. Bring it in. - [Megan] Starting with the McChicken. - This is like chicken sandwich before people. started really making chicken sandwiches. - Ugh. What's that sad salad on it? (backstage laughing). - It's hot lettuce. It's one of the quintessential parts. of the McChicken. - 21. Pepper. - Nothing is going to be below a 50 for me. because I think I'm going to like everything we taste,
but I think that that's in the 58 category for me. - [Megan] Next we have the McNuggets. - Classic. - Once Link was drunk. after a Good Mythical Evening. We stopped by McDonald's. and I got the nuggets. and you got the chicken tenders. and no, you got the chicken tenders. You got the nuggets. I got the chicken tenders. - Well I don't... don't look at me.
I don't remember. - And then you got upset with me. that I didn't give you the tenders. I bet you the tenders are coming next. Keep that in mind. And I can't remember what you concluded about. whether or not you liked this better. - 80. - There's a lot of nostalgia that's coming through this. - Yeah, it's not really chicken. It's not really... It's definitely nugget. And I'm not saying it's not made of chicken. I'm just saying I think of it as its own thing, which I love. - 82. - [Megan] Next is the McCrispy Strips. - Yeah, look at these things. They're so long.
There's just a lot more flavor in those. - But you don't have that McDonald's magic with it. - I think it's pretty magical, but it doesn't have the nostalgia. - I wouldn't know that it was McDonald's. if you just gave it to me on the street. - Yeah, because it's new. Hold on. You want me to give you something on the street? - Yeah, give me things on the street. I mean, if it was on the street. right in front of McDonald's, maybe.
- 85. - 48. - [Megan] Next up is the McCrispy. - And McCrispy is different than the McChicken in what ways? - [Megan] McCrispy is a southern styled fried chicken filet. crinkle with crinkle cut pickle. on buttered toasted potato roll. - Okay, so everything about it is different. - [Megan] Completely different. - The potato roll is sweet. - It's trying harder. Yeah. - It's getting closer to a modern chicken sandwich, like what they're doing in all the rest of the restaurants.
And I like that about it. I'm going to give this one a 77. - 59. - [Megan] Next up is the Deluxe McCrispy. This features lettuce, tomato, and mayo. - Okay. Sometimes I go to McDonald's looking for something healthy. and I think they have grilled chicken, but they don't. - They do some years. - Maybe a little bit better. - I think it got worse, but I still liked it, 74. - 65. - [Megan] Next is the Spicy McCrispy.
- Oh, how so? - [Megan] Spicy pepper sauce. - I got full pickle in that spice. The spice is fun. - I like that. I'm having fun. - It's an unidentical spice. Unidentical. - Unidentical. - You know what I mean? - [Megan] Powdered habanero pepper. - It's, well, you just identical it. It doesn't taste like a good spicy. It just adds spice. - That's a solid choice for me, 74.
- 40, don't like it. - [Megan] Next is the Spicy deluxe McCrispy. featuring tomato and lettuce. - Okay, there's so many things they can do these days. - Just a little better. You got some contrast to the spiciness. - Spicy and deluxe. - 43. - 75. - Wow. - [Megan] Next we have the Filet-O-Fish. - Okay, let me cleanse. Let me cleanse. - Only half a slice of cheese. That's got to change.
It's just got to change. - Well, it probably won't at this point, but you know what you can ask for when you go in there? A full slice of cheese. - Double cheese. It's a sleeper. Don't overthink it. - There's nothing like it. - Yeah, there's nothing like it. - 84. (Link hesitating).
Who's overthinking it? - Oh, I can't help but overthink it. That'll be 76. - [Megan] Next is the Ranch Snack Wrap. - See, this is what you. thought when you were getting healthy. - Yeah, but it's still fried. - Uh-oh. - [Megan] That was a good crunch. - When you hide that tender. in that stuff, it does get better. - But this is another hot lettuce situation. - Just a little snack for you. - I mean, you definitely pointed out.
the hot lettuce on the McChicken. We're in hot lettuce territory. - Yeah. - I'm not complaining, but I'm just letting you know. We're back. - I really like. the pepper flavor. and it needs the lettuce compliment. - Which chicken is that using, do you think? What chicken from another sandwich is that using? - It's using the tender. - [Megan] The McCrispy Strip. - It's the McCrispy Strip. - The strip, yeah. Well, that makes me like it even more. - Oh, really? - But I don't like. I mean, hot lettuce is... I like it, but I hate it at the same time, you know?.
- 64 for me. - 67. - [Megan] Last up in this category is the Spicy Snack Wrap. - Same sauce? - [Link] And that is cheesy too. - [Megan] Same spicy pepper sauce. - Mm, chewy. - The hot sauce helps a lot, I think. Hot sauce makes hot lettuce okay. - The wraps- - 70. 70. - Make the chicken okay for me.
- And the buns don't? - Mm-mm, something about it. - Weird. - 62. - [Megan] Okay, finally we have the sides. and desserts category. - Okay. - Time out. Time out. Time out. - Time out? - Yeah, it's Grimace. - I've already done that. I just did it. - Are you doing it before every round? - I'm doing it a lot. Look, I'm almost out. - I'm doing it in between categories. - Well, there's a lot of salt intake here. - [Megan] Starting with fries. - Okay.
Best fries on the planet, maybe. I mean, when they're fresh. (backstage laughing). We know how they taste. - Fresh, floppy, but then you get a burnt one, then you get another floppy. - 92. - 98. - [Megan] Next up, we have apple slices.
- Okay. Let's pass. (backstage laughing). - Throw it in there. I'll eat it. I do feel like we should. - Really? - Well, yeah. - All right. - Strangely preserved, yet totally peeled. - They have like a coating on them. - Permanently packaged. - Vitamin C coating or something. that keeps them from going bad. - It's a little... it feels troubling, but I'm still going to give it a 50. - You know what? I said I would give nothing less than a 50. I'm going to give the apple slices a 45.
- Ooh. - I do not lie. I would rather have not eaten that. - Well, let's see if you like it in a baked apple pie. - This is different. This is way different. - Look at that. Look at that. Other people try. - Oh, man. That's good. - It's bubbly and crispy. - I'm still a savory guy though. I can't go into the 90s. I'm 88. - Yeah, it is one of the best desserts.
at a fast food place. 89. - [Megan] Next, we have the Oreo McFlurry. - Oh, we get a spoon. - Uh-oh. - That's good. - I never get this. - They got it dialed in. - I like it. - Why is it so good? 92. - Because the machine was working. You just gave Oreo McFlurry a 92? - Yeah, it's like so good.
- I feel like I have to take that into account. so we don't end up with no burgers in the top three, which is what's going to happen with this one. It's a solid cookies and cream flavored ice cream treat, but there's so many better ice creams out there. So many better. I'm going to give it a 70. - [Megan] Next is the M&M McFlurry. - This is where it all falls apart for him.
He doesn't like his chocolate to be candy. - 20. - 65. - [Megan] Next up is the Vanilla Cone. - Oh god. - [Megan] That's beautiful. - It's a good cone. - It's a good cone. - It's a good little soft serve there.
- I like it. - I'm going to 78. - Okay. I mean, I think it's a really solid soft serve, 80. - [Megan] Next is the Chocolate Shake. - Chocolate shake. Thick. Haven't gotten it yet. (backstage laughing). Ugh. (backstage laughing). - Yeah, why does it taste like that? - What's wrong with that? - Like the syrup ratio is off or something.
- Yeah, 18. - 49. - [Megan] Next is the vanilla shake. - I really want... can I taste another double cheeseburger? - [Megan] It's a crime not to dip fries in that. - I don't have the fries anymore. - 69. - Better than the chocolate. I'll give it a 63. - [Megan] Let's try the Strawberry Shake.
- They make it thick, man. Do all McDonald's make it so thick? - I've never had that. I don't think I've ever gotten a shake. - I'm not a huge strawberry dessert person, 51. - 25. - [Megan] Let's try the Hot Fudge Sundae next. - I think if I was choosing amongst all these-. - Very fudgey.
- All the ice cream desserts at McDonald's, this is the one that I would choose. if it was just up to this pleasure alone. - That's pretty respectable, but. - I think that might be an 84 for me. - 70. - [Megan] Next up, we have the Hot Caramel Sundae. - Okay. - It's a good caramel flavor. - And it's the thick caramel. Not as good as the chocolate. - No, sir. 51. - 77. - 51, 77. - [Megan] And last up is the Chocolate Chip Cookie.
- Which exists? - I didn't know about this. Is this new? - [Megan] It's a cookie with chocolate chips in it. - Thank you. (backstage laughing). - 35 and utterly forgettable. Already forgot it. What's the last thing I had? A caramel shake. - I'm going to give that an even 50, even 50. - [Megan] Congratulations, you've now tasted every item. on the McDonald's menu, except breakfast. Let's see your top four.
(upbeat music). - You may not have known, but this jacket. that Rhett's wearing is Mythical merch. It's the new Mythical Chore Jacket. Very proud of this. It's fully custom made. - I do all my chores in it. - Down to the buttons. - Like eating McDonald's. - Made in downtown LA. Limited quantities available to this thing. down there tastefully on the pocket? - Tasteful pocket logo. - Got that corduroy. Looking good. All right, what are our top four? Did I screw it up? - [Megan] No, you didn't because we've got the apple pie, the Big Mac made it to the top four. - Also the double cheeseburger and... - The fries. - The fries. - Okay, I will say that- - Feeling good about this. - Before we tasted this, I had predicted. like what are the items that should make it? I mean, maybe the chicken nuggets,
but I think the chicken nuggets is all nostalgia, you know? So I feel good about these. - I agree. - Two burgers. And when we're going with the... I mean, look at all that cheese, all the classic stuff you would expect. from a cheeseburger at McDonald's. Those sad little onions that are somehow still perfect. I mean, when you take a look at this.
- Take a bite and swap. - You realize how much lettuce is on it. - Switcheroonie. - I mean, I like that. The double cheese. - So much cheese. nestled in between the burgers. - It's so easy to eat too. - It screams McDonald's. - Look at that. It's that everything you want. and nothing you don't want. - Oh, you mean like a center bread piece.
that maybe doesn't need to be there? - Like you said, I don't necessarily complain about it, but if I'm having to pick which one's better, I feel in my heart. that the double cheeseburger is better than the Big Mac. - I've never had them both in one sitting. until right now. - Because that would be a crazy day. - For me, yeah. But I just got to give it to the double cheese. - Agreed. Question. Do you want to just completely boot the Big Mac out.
of the top three so that we could have burger, side, and dessert? Or is that unnecessary? - I feel like the apple pie deserves some recognition. It's just such a beautiful thing. - Well, that's why I was about to put it in the top three. - If feels like... - It just feels like we should, but we got to do what's... - What's right. - What's right. - We have to do what's right, Link. - We got to do what's right. - I think the apple pie is the one.
that's got to go. It's good as it is. - So now we're pushing Big Mac all the way. to number three because- - I don't know, there's fries. - Because these fries right here, put them up against any fresh hot out of the fryer fry. on fast food. - They got fries. - It is going to take the cake. - Okay, so that means that the happiest meal. that you can get at McDonald's is the double cheeseburger. - It is. It really is, Rhett. (loud popping).
(backstage chuckling). It really is. And he's not creepy at all back there. - Nope, nope, nope, nope. - Look how tightly he's holding onto this thing. - Yeah, he doesn't want to let go. - What are you doing back there? - Probably nothing. - Thanks for being your Mythical best. - You know what time it is. (small popping). (backstage laughing). - I'm Portia. - And I'm Daniel. - We're from St. Louis and we just got engaged in Chicago.
- [Both] And it' time to spin the Wheel of Mythicality. - Congratulations. - Are they in a really tall car? - Yeah, they're in a crane, I think. Okay, here we go. Think of a number between one and 10. Three, two, one. - One. Yes. We agree. (both laughing). We got the same number. - It's going to be a good day. - Join us in Good Mythical Morning.
