Warning: This Video Will Make You Angry
- Will we get baited by rage bait? - Let's talk about that. (upbeat music). (singer hums). Good with the good morning. - For every adorable video out there. of an unlikely friendship between a dog. and cat that warms our hearts. - Oh, I love them. - There are at least three rage bait videos, you know, videos where somebody. is intentionally trying to get us mad for engagement.
- While the act of enraging people on the internet. is not something I have any familiarity with. - Of course not. - I'm still pretty fascinated by this concept. - Well, they want the attention. So we decided we're gonna give it to them. Alongside our rage bait-o-meter. - Bring it in. - Got to be careful how you say that, I feel like. - Rage bait-o-meter. - Rage bait-o-meter. - There it is, there it is. As you can see down here, this is where I'm at right now. I'm so happy. I'm experiencing no rage, and then up here...
- Saying dirty words. - This could happen today. - All right, okay. - I never think of myself as a rage baiter. - You don't consider yourself a rage baiter? - No, I never... I mean, even if I do it on purpose, I was just like, "Well, wouldn't it be funny. if I did the thing that you don't want me to do?". But that's as far as I' thought about it. - Well, the interesting thing about this, as we'll get into as we see the first video, is the level of intentionality,
which I also think is something that you may relate to, which is, is there intentionality or is there not? - I don't know how I'm gonna react to this. - Okay, let's just see the first one, and then we'll talk about how we might score these. - Dot cake. - Oh gosh. - Oh, 'cause that's the frunk. - Yeah, okay, so she's put a whole, yeah. - She really... It seems like she really did it. - Yeah, it seems like she did. Now, I'm pretty familiar with this. because this is what I did with my old Tesla.
You remember? - You had a Tesla. - I did, and Jesse was like, "We can't have this anymore.". - So let's put a cake in it? - You're right, let's just put. cake in it. - Did it increase the value? I mean, I found myself being a little hungry. What else are you gonna do with the frunk? - I've seen... I don't know if I've seen this, another video from this lady, or if there are other people doing this. Is this the same lady that made a cake. inside of a little futon thing?
- Yes. - Oh gosh. - Oh, what? - She is a master. - That was worse than this. - She's a master of what? - [Brittany] She's a master baiter. - Yes, that's what she is. She's a master rage baiter. - I like that one commenter said, "I was getting mad, but I remembered it not my car.". - Yes. (people laugh). Okay. - To me, I'm satisfied. a little bit by it. - Okay, okay, all right. - 'Cause it's so smooth-looking. I want to touch it. I want to... - Yeah, you're weird.
So this is where I think. we have to talk about intentionality, and I don't know, these are all gonna be surprises to us, and we haven't seen them. - Yeah. - But somebody who is making. a video not because they are like, "You know what would be fun to do today in my life? Make a cake in the frunk of my Tesla.". - Yeah. - No, I'm gonna make a cake. in the frunk of my Tesla because it will make. people upset. - People mad. - And that will get engagement.
- So the decision is making you upset. - Yes. - It's the manipulation, but-. - It's actually a meta upset. - The fact that the decision was made makes you upset, but the decision itself is not making you upset. - Right, well, see, I would say that the decision to do it, if you're this kind of person. that makes this kind of video, I'm up here. - Yeah, yeah. - But here's the thing I'll say. - It's smooth. - Putting it inside, I know what the, 'cause I had one, I know what the interior of the front looks like, and it's just plastic.
- It's easy to clean up. - Easy to clean. - That fricking futon or the recliner or whatever she did, that's off the charts because that was ruined. - It's damaged. - So I think I'm actually... I'm more in here. So you're saying you're down here. - I'm down here being hungry and wanting to touch. - But see, hold on, I just think you're gonna... I think this is how you're gonna feel about them all. - No, I'm not. - Because I think people. who are unintentional... - No, I wasn't. - Unintentional rage baiters, I'm not saying you necessarily are, but maybe you're more.
of an unintentional rage baiter than me, you're immune. - I know when I. hit the hammer on the little furniture, yes, I'll give you that. That one time. - We don't have to get into like... We don't have to start a list. We don't want to do that. - It's only one. - But I'm saying like somebody who's had. the flu already this season like you, maybe you're not susceptible to the flu again. You know what I'm saying? - Yes, that's true. - So I don't know how good your judgment's gonna be on this.
- All right, I'll give you this. The thing that makes me mad is that I can't see the proof. that the cake went all the way to the bottom. - You're saying there might be like boxes, and then tinfoil. or something under there. - Yup, yup. - Okay, all right, so we're somewhere. in the middle on dot cake. - All right, we're gonna leave that there. - Let's see where else we can go. - Let's take a look at Doritos. (wrapper crackles) (water splashes). - Watching... - Cleaning the bag. - Hold on, it's not 2020.
(wrapper crackles). - Drying the bag. (item stabs) (wrapper crackles). - Hold on now. - Poking the bag, cutting the bag. - Cutting out the logo. (tape crackles). Oh, is it gonna make it like a wet wipes container? - What is happening? - I don't know, I'm getting upset already though. (people laugh). - I'm confused. - Oh, come on. Oh, come on. (people laugh). Oh, yeah, thumbs up your ass. (laughs).
(people laugh). I'm sorry. - Whoa. - I'm sorry, that just.... It just came out. - He got... - It just came. - He's getting angry. - It just came... I didn't mean to, I swear that was unintentional. I was not planning that. - With a nail like that, I would be afraid, you know? - Oh, I don't like this, man. - You got to trim that thing down first. - I don't like this. I think that the reason this makes me madder. than the cake is that it rides this line. where you think you're about to get a hack.
that you might actually employ. - Yeah. - No one's gonna make. a cake in their freaking car, but some people might be like, "Well, I do get stuff on my fingers when I eat Doritos.". - Well, for me, for me, what I was thinking was, I was like, "Yeah, the bag can be dirty. You're grabbing the bag, you're opening the bag, then you're eating Doritos." - Okay, so hold on. - People pee on bags. - Did you just tell me. - Grocery workers pee on bags. - That the person. putting the Doritos bag. - And can tops. - Underneath the sink and washing it,
you were like, "Oh, okay, I'm on board.". - I was... - You're disqualified. - I'm listening. - You're disqualified. - I'm listening, you weren't out of that point. You weren't angry at that point. - I was already angry. - Well, I wasn't because it was... Do you know what's on those bags? - I'm not eating the outside of the bag. I'm opening the bag. - Touching it. - I'm touching things constantly around the world. - Around your world. - You go to the grocery store, and you're like, "Well, everybody's peed on all this stuff.".
Is this why you don't go to the grocery store, 'cause people peed on stuff? Somebody probably peed on this desk. We don't know what happens late here. - [Staff] Confirmed. - On the weekends. - But you lost me when, yeah, when you start eating something with tape, you want to eat adhesive? That's stupid. - And you're gonna be. smelling that fricking tape. - Yeah, that was dumb. - [Brittany] I just want to point out, because people can't see the caption. The caption on this is, "My Texas grandma. really solved the greasy chip problem. before the internet did.".
- That's not the hand of a Texas grandma. (people laugh). - I think maybe she learned it from her grandma. Also, this worked. It got 38 million views. This is why... - 38 million views. - Tati makes these videos because it does work. - I like how she cut out the logo. - Okay, well... - It was a nice... It was a clean bag, and then even when she cut that out, I was like, "What, that's fun.
This is a fun way to eat Doritos.". She lost me just at the tape. - Right at the tape. - So I'm angry at the tape. You're angry at everything, including me, apparently. - I'm angry at everything, but there was a moment when I thought. she was gonna make like one of those resealable wet wipes. kind of containers, like make the bag into that, and I was like, okay, maybe... I mean, I would never do it. These kinds of hacks never make it into my life. - 'Cause you eat the whole bag at once. - 'Cause I'm just like, "Chip clip, dude.". You know what I'm saying? There's other ways to do this, but okay.
If you're happy with that, I'm happy with this level of rage. - Yeah, yes, I am... I'm not happy. I'm happy with being this level of unhappy. - Okay, all right, and my reaction was honest, so okay. Let's see, watch films? - I honestly do not understand how people. over the age of 16 can sit down and watch films. Now, hear me out. I know I might be the weird one for this, and I know I'm probably the only one who thinks this. - What? - But like when you. actually think about it, grown adults sit there,
look at a telly, and watch people they don't know. pretend to be someone who isn't real, doing things that haven't happened, and sit there. for hours and hours and hours and hours and watch films. I have not watched a film in six years, and I don't think I'll ever watch a film again. Now, I know I'm probably weird or boring. or whatever that is, but like I just think. there's so many better things to do. than sit and spend hours watching a film. or getting dead involved in a film. which just isn't even real life. Like why?
So yeah, that's my thought for today. Hope you enjoy, see you tomorrow. - Well, this guy has a though every day? - Oh, God. (people laugh). I'll tell you what he doesn't have, and that is a relationship. (people laugh and ooh). You want to be in a relationship with that guy, someone who. picks apart movies? - No. - What movies are just like-. - Well, can I just say he didn't just pick apart movies. He picked apart narrative storytelling. He said people acting like other people, like he was just a....
Like he's a non-fiction guy. - He's never watched something and liked it? - He doesn't like storytelling, which makes him maybe not human. - I know, I came out of the gate really... I hope you find a soulmate. (people laugh). I hope you find somebody who just likes reality. It's just one of those hot... Here's what's happening. Is he doing this on purpose? - Yeah. - Every day, he has something, and he's obligating himself to come... He's got to come up with something,
and this is scraping the bottom of the barrel. - And in doing so, ironically, he becomes a person. who's acting like somebody who's not real, because he has committed himself. to having a take every single day. - Yeah. - And you have to have. a take every single day that you think will get engagement, you have to lean into things that you may. or may not actually believe. - Yeah. - They may or may not. be true about you, - But I don't think-. - He basically just recreated. the thing that he hates. - Yes. (people clap) - But he's not.. But he's not rage bating though. He doesn't know he's rage baiting.
He's just trying to be opinionated. - Well, he does say, "I might be weird. This could be weird.". - Yeah, and, yes, the answer to that is yes, you are. - There's a part... If you were to say people over the age of 16. don't have the attention span. to really watch movies anymore, that's something that... - Yeah. - It's kind of an observational thing. - Right, that would've been - But here's the thing, that's something we should be fighting. is the loss of our attention span.
We shouldn't be like, "Yeah, we don't really need this anymore.". If anything, we need to be able to sit down. and pay attention to something that is not real. for two to three hours right now, considering our reality is pretty freaking bad right now. You know what I'm saying? It's like- - Yeah, we need an escape. - Give us something else so that our nervous system. can settle a little bit. This guy- - Lewis, Lewis. - Sorry, is this worse than Doritos? - No. - Here's the thing. - No. - But this is like a-. - [Link] You were pretty angry about Doritos.
- This is a deep cultural commentary. Like this is just something that made me mad, but then I started thinking about it. I'm like, "This person washing Doritos. This person, if this thought begins to infect other people, it affects us culturally.". - Well, it also affects us career-wise. - Career-wise, yeah. - [Brittany] Some context about his profile. that might be helpful to you. He does not post a thought a day, but this is coming from... He's a very big hustle culture guy. So his profile's all about locking in,
and I believe he doesn't want to watch films. because you could be locking in. - Right. - Yeah, yeah, he need... Yeah, we need to lock him out. (people laugh) - Yeah, yeah. This is like the hustle culture guys who say, "Don't cook because you could just go, you could just...". Yeah, yeah, okay. - Go on though. - I'm just saying- - Don't cook? Just what? - Well, they don't say don't cook. because they don't know how to. They say, "Don't cook because it takes too much time.". - Okay. - Meaning you should.
just be hustling the whole time. Yeah, this is tippy top right now. This is tippy top. - All right. - This represents a lot of things. - But I think relative, what we've done is this. - Okay, I'm not gonna argue with that. I don't know what's coming next. - Well, I can tell you right now, it has to do with the dishwasher cookout. This is your sign to have a dishwasher cookout. - Oh, gosh. - Is it though? - Oh. - Your hot dogs are built in-. - Raw-dogging onto the little tines here. - I know, I know. - Okay, well... Or at least they're bagging that one.
- Don't add soap, right? - Whole house will smell like a barbecue. (people laugh). Oh, come on. - Uh-uh, uh-uh. It's so juicy? (people laugh). - Yeah, oh, yeah. - Okay. - Like this guy. Okay, all right. - All right, did you see. how the ketchup went on? - Yeah, the ketchup. He was like, "Every single part of this. is gonna make you mad.". - And are we watching it again? - We're watching it, yeah, it's... - [Brittany] Yeah, I'm not sure if you... - Hold on, why are you guys looping this?
- Yeah, don't- - So we didn't loop it. - Stop it. - I don't know if you. noticed he actually put in there, "Let's watch it again so I can pay rent.". (reel rewinds). - Oh, no, he said that? - And we're doing it? - [Brittany] Well, he automatically made. his video loop. - He did that. It's all built in. - You can't do that. (people laugh) - Okay, now, first, the thing I'm not gonna take issue with-. - You just have as many views. - The thing I'm not gonna take issue with. is cooking something, including meat, in a dishwasher. - Why? - Because people, you know,
people do that. People like us, we did that. Yes, we did that. We cooked a fricking steak in a dishwasher, didn't we? - [Link] But we didn't do it... Why did we do that? (people laugh). - [Rhett] Bro, we've got over 3,000 episodes of this show. We are desperate. - [Link] We didn't do it to make anybody mad. - [Rhett] No, but we do make people mad from time to time. - Okay, and it was great. It tasted good. - When we did it, it was great, and I think we cooked it all the way through, and we definitely didn't put raw dogs. right on the top rack like that.
That's offensive. - I think this is... It starts off as well-constructed rage bait, but then when you start say... When you put the ketchup on, and you do it like that.... - You're leaning into it. - You're out of the bounds of what might work. It's like saying, "I'm being stupid. I'm trying to make you mad, and then I'm gonna show it to you twice. so that I can pay rent.". I'm basically coming out and saying that it's rage bait.
- And then they say- - Where are your balls? - "Legit so good"? (person laughs). But here, no, no, I think you're missing a point here. - I think my point is he sucks at making rage bait. - Yeah, which is why it doesn't make-. - Stop short. - Which is why it doesn't make me mad. I'm not gonna be mad because he's a bad craftsman. It's like I'm not mad because he's not very good. at hiding this, like this is clearly just-.
- Put hot dogs in a video, he kind of likes it. - This is just rage bait, and we know that it's rage bait. He made it way too obvious when he went outside the lines. - So that makes you less mad. - I'm not mad at this at all. - When he's not good at it. - Also, we've done it before. You know, we can't be hypocrites. - [Link] But we did it for different reasons. - [Rhett] This is the least offensive thing. that we've seen, I think. - I mean, but everybody's a little bit of a hypocrite. - Okay, I'm fine with that, but it's definitely not up-. - We are hypocrites.
- It's not in Doritos and don't watch films category. - No, but then dot cake... I'm moving this down because I want... Now, I want to see this again. I'm gonna look this up on my own time. - Okay, well, you can have that moment. - Just to get a little happy. - Okay, let's keep going. - I figure I spent $30 on three pieces of bread, but, honestly, it was so good. This is the brand new bread shop in Soho. that specializes in sourdough rye, and it's where they're selling me holo for $60. There is honestly such a huge selection. of flavors you can choose.
They all range from six to $14. The first one that I got was the brie with fig jam. The brie cheese had such a strong and deep flavor to it, and you can literally never go wrong with fig jam. It's always so good to me. The bread was moist, it was very good. This next one comes with butter. and a beautiful fresh apricot jam, very tasty, very bright. The jam is imported from Austria, and you can just tell it's so good, and the last one that I tried was goat cheese. with hot honey and some chili flakes. This one was definitely my favorite. The cheese was very mild. Yes, it's very expensive, but, honestly, I'd go back and try some more flavors. I have never seen anything like this before. So I'd go and try out some bread.
- $10? - Well, I mean, I will say-. - Per slice? - If you're gonna pay $10. for a slice of bread with jam on it, there should be a lot of jam on it. - Yeah, that apricot jam was too much. I mean, if I'm paying $10 for that bread, I want to taste the bread. - 10, so $30 for those three slices... Do we know where this place is, Brittany? - [Brittany] Yeah, it's in New York. - Okay. - A lot of people. are going to make content about that. - And she could just tell that it was from Austria. Is that what she said?
- Well, maybe they told her that. Okay. (sighs). - I mean, a open-faced piece of bread. for $10. - The most offensive part. of this video for me was when she said good, she put a little uh good at the end of it. She did that to a lot of her words. That was the part that I was having trouble with, but let's just get back to the task at hand. This is just expensive bread, and that is upsetting. - And it's a trend. - It's upsetting. - People are actually paying this. - But this is not...
This isn't rage bait. - 'Cause the bread looked kind of good. - Because when you say rage bait, what you are saying is that there. is some intention, right? - Intention. You're being lured into a reaction of anger. - But when you call something rage bait. that wasn't intentional, sometimes that could be the best rage bait, because it's unintentional rage bait. - People are definitely gonna get upset. about $10 for the bread, but it looked good. We're suckers for this. We'd be buying the bread, man.
- [Rhett] I'm not gonna get too... I'm not too upset about this. - Yeah, not too upset about it, you know? - I'm a little upset about the way she said good. - So moving it there. - Good. If you haven't gotten your tickets yet. for A Very Mythical Holiday Special, why don't you just go ahead and get them? - It will be the event of a lifetime. - Yes. - November 20th, that evening. Plus, when you get your ticket, you unlock bonus content. that you can watch now to hold you over. before the big night, mythical.com/live.
Now, we've got Xbox controller, uh-oh, for the kids. Here's a reminder to clean your husband's Xbox controller. - Oh, okay, okay. - Uh-oh, okay. - So we've got. some intentional rage bait. We know we're clearly in intentional rage bait territory. - Because- - Oh, yeah, sure. - Yup, she's dropping it in there. - It was kind of convincing. Now, we got to go full rinse here. - Yup, yup, oh, and she did shake it dry. - Yup. - Okay, all right, your ex-husband. is gonna be really happy about this.
(people laugh). It's tough because, for me, because, you know, when it starts with cleaning, I'm like this is- - Yeah, so you might have. to bow out on this one. - This is like... This is starting in a... The intentions could be good, is what I'm thinking. - Okay, and I will say that one of the comments, maybe my favorite one on this video was, and this is why I'm gay. (people laugh). - Wow. - Well, we all have our reasons, and so...
- I mean, I'm not gay, but I do have reasons. If I were gay, I would have reasons. Probably to be- - You don't have to have. a reason to be gay. - And the reason would be. - You're just gay. - It's who I am. - Okay, okay. (people laugh). - Yeah, so you don't need. a reason. - Nice save. - You don't need a reason to be gay. - Nice save, Link. - Is what I'm really. getting at. (people laugh). - My reason is I don't have a reason. - I don't need a reason. - Okay, again, this is not ruffling my feathers. because I'm not a gamer,
and, also, I just know right from the top. that this is just... - Hokey. - It's just, it's so rage bait. It's like, you know what? Hey, we've got this old Xbox controller. that's not working anymore. - What could we do with it? - What kind of rage bait video. can we make with it? - Yeah, yeah. - And so I respect the game, but I'm not. actually emotionally jarred in any way. You know what I mean? - Emotionally jarred. - I'm trying to keep the jam thing going.
Okay, so for me, this is off of the scale. - Yeah, and I like it. - I'm a little bit happy. - That was clean, I bet it'll still work. - Let's see if we can get really mad one last time. What? Is that meat slippers? - Uh-uh, uh-uh, uh-uh. Bacon strapped to meat slides. - Yeah. - Ew, gross. - Don't knock it, don't knock it. We haven't seen the whole thing.
Oh, there's a, is that a big spatula or a small foot? Good Lord. - That's a big spatula. Oh, three cheese. - A flip-flop burger. - I mean, a lot of that stuff is cooking off, you know? And they do make some cheese in France. It's like based on stuff that comes off your feet, I think. - What? - Yeah. - You think this is a French rage bait video? - Oh, a double stack. - Double up. - Okay, all right. (Link groans).
- I just keep seeing the foot on there in my mind. - Oh, no, now, okay. That stack is really... That's the part that's sort of upsetting me. - I would've been cutting it. - [Billy] Dinner's ready. - Oh, dinner, oh, no, children! (gibberish). - Children! - Okay, all right, (indistinct). - Oh, children's hands. - We have a problem. Okay, so we've got professional rage baiter. - Some- - Involving the family. in this, that is a little bit offensive to me. - When those little hands came in, oh, I just felt like they really ate it.
- But maybe they were normal-sized hand, and it's a really large sandwich. - No, remember the spatula? - Oh, yeah, there's a lot of-. (Link screams) A lot of perspective issues. with this one. - Why am I hungry for it? - Well, here's the thing. I've been dealing with plantar fasciitis. (Link sputters then laughs) most of the year. - I'm sorry. - And I don't know. if this would help or hurt, and so I feel like. I'm gonna just have to bow out. - They look pretty flat on this. - There's no arch support. - Don't put the kids in the picture.
That's what did it. - Involving the family is a bad thing, but, again, this guy thought he had a take, right? He though he had a take. - Yeah, yeah. - This person woke up and was like, "How can we bait. people today?" - Yeah. - And so that's why... And first of all, tape on the freaking Doritos. - Okay, all right, all right, fine. - [Rhett] Yeah, and you thought... I knew that this was a joke right from the beginning. when the feet come in. - No, but those kids ate it.
Those kids ate that foot burger. - They didn't eat it. He wanted you to think that he ate it. - I just, but I know it. - [Brittany] Do you want to know a little more. about that account? - No. (people laugh). Okay, what? - [Brittany] Well, he's not really a rage baiter. so much as just a guy who makes. very impressive creations with meat. Like he'll make like a Labubu burger or things. So this is the only video that I saw on his profile. that was clear rage bait.
The kids might have eaten it. - Oh, is it? Oh, is it? - Oh is it? Well, we don't know. We're gonna have to follow up with him. (Link screams). Hopefully, you're not too mad for. being your mythical best. You know what time it is. - This is Paisley. - And I'm Aubrey. - [Both] And our parents just pranked us. by putting beans in our ice cream. And it's time to spin the Wheel of Mythicality.
- They don't seem too upset. - Leave the kids out of your videos. Making the children eat things. - Hold on, we don't want to discourage people. to not submit the wheel videos with children in them. - Yeah, but I don't care. (people laugh). - All right, we have a huge announcement. Actually, Link does. - Oh, I do? Yeah, yeah, yeah. - Remember, go with that thing. Remember that thing. (Link sighs).
- Well, I'm the one who killed it. (people laugh). (Link laughs). - I'll leave it at that. Join us in Good Mythical More to see us. taste our own custom chocolate bars. and hear about my dog Barbara's near death experience. - [Link] You're invited to A Very Mythical Holiday Special. on November 20th.
