Top 15 Super Bowl Commercials of 2013
The Ravens win the Super Bowl 34 to 31. over the 49ers and Beyonce causes half. the stadium to lose power. But now it's. time to talk about what we all really. care about. The 15 best commercials of. the Super Bowl. Let's talk about that. We're from Los Angeles, California. Good. morning. [Music]. Good mythical morning. Thank you for. joining us today. Uh it's actually.
night. We're recording this right after. watching the Super Bowl. My breath still. smells like guacamole. I can smell it. from here. And uh we we're going to get. to the list right quick. This whole. smells like guacamole mixed with. something else mixed with like the. beginning of morning breath cuz it's. very late. Uh this is our top 15 Super. Bowl commercials. This is our list. This. is our definitive list. The Rhett and. Link list. Who who who are we to be. saying a list of of what we think is the. best and why should you be watching. this? One, we're going to watch the.
clips together and it will be fun. Two, um well, we developed a name for making. some of the most consistently crappy. local commercials to ever be released on. the internet. So, that gives us the. right to at least talk about it here in. our own venue. So, let's get started. Uh. starting at number 15, Doritos goat for. sale. A guy who loves Doritos and looks. like a goat buys a goat that loves. Doritos and looks like a goat. It. doesn't end well. [Music].
[Music]. I love any commercial that ends with the. implied death of a man at the hands of a. goat. Is that Is that what happened? That's what the implication was. It was. just implied though. It didn't actually. happen. Oh, it was only a commercial. Number 14, Audi prom. Come on. Nowadays, lots of people go by themselves. No, they don't. Yeah. Hey,
son, have fun tonight. This ad teaches. you that it's okay to go to the prom. alone as long as you have a rich dad who. lets you drive his awesome car there, right? That gives you the confidence to. park in the principal space. Um, kiss. the prom queen and then get punched by. the prom king. All right, number 13. Go Daddy, your big. idea.co. We really like this one because. we thought that it was smart. It's one. in a gazillion. Idiot proof. It's a real.
money maker. And thank goodness I put it. online first. More champagne, sir. More. everything, Sky Waitress. For the first time in history, I think. that GoDaddy managed to make Danica. Patrick actually be funny. Like when she. turned around and laughed, I laughed. The first time I've ever laughed at. Danica Patrick. It was good. I did. laugh. Coming in at number 12. That's what she did. Uh number 12, the. NFL Network, uh Leon Sandcastle. Okay.
Leon Sanders comes out of retirement to. enter the NFL draft as an unknown rookie. calling himself Leon Sandcastle. Who's the new kid? Sand Castle. Sand. Castle looks like the ugly Deion. Sanders. I never thought I would say. this, but Deion Sanders is funny. Well, I think the people who write commercials. for Deion Sanders are funny. Well, he's. funny. I mean, he maybe it was the wig.
Number number 11, Budweiser, the. Clydesdale's brotherhood. A horse. trainer raises a Clydesdale who hits the. big time and then they reunite on a. vacant street in Chicago. [Music]. Now, I will say this is one of the most. heartwarming ads from the Super Bowl. this year. But then the more I started. to think about it, it started to creep.
me out a little bit. What are you. getting at here? I'm not get I It just. see It started to seem a little creepy. about that. We're going to move on. Uh. that was just me. Number 10, Toyota Rav. 4. Wish granted. Kaylee Cuckoo. Is that. how you say it? Kuoko. I think it's. Kaylee Cuckoo from Big Bang Theory. Kuoko. Maybe she plays a genie granting. wishes to a family. Oh, I wish I could. eat as much chocolate as I want. Well, your chocolate levels are dangerously. low. The Glattus is going to start you. on a chocolate IV. And here are some. free samples. I think they should have. wished for a Range Rover, but I don't.
think the ad would have worked as well. for Toyota. Okay, number nine. Doritos. fashionista daddy. A dad becomes a drag. queen to get some Doritos. Then all his. friends become drag queens. Is that my wedding dress? It could be. And I got to say, this one is special to. us because we made it. No, our friends. made it. We didn't have anything to do. with it. Some of our good friends uh.
entered this into the Doritos Crash the. Super Bowl contest. Correct. Congratulations, guys. Congratulations, friends of ours. We're getting some air. time. All right, here we go. Number. eight. This thing, this train keeps it. rolling all night long. Dodge farmer. Now, at the Super Bowl party that I was. at, everybody was totally mesmerized by. this. Everybody stopped talking, got. quiet, and they were they were totally. focused on this with the old recording. of Paul Harvey, old radio personality. with the farm imagery. Mesmerizing. God.
said, "I need somebody willing to get up. before dawn, milk cows, work all day in. the fields, milk cows again, eat supper, then go to town and stay past midnight. at a meeting of the school board." So. God made a farmer. Now, I was sure that. this must have been a commercial for. like Farm Aid or something or Monsanto, right? But it turns out it's a. commercial for Dodge Ram. My heart was. really warm and then it it it kind of. made it a little cooler. I don't I still. love the commercial. I had all this. passion built up for farts and then it. had to be put into a truck bed. All.
right. Now number seven. We're going to. put it number seven. Hyundai or Hyundai. Santa Fe. I think it's Hyundai team. A. kid is challenged to a football game, then hops into a car with his mom to. gather his friends. This one has a kid. wrestling a bear and another kid. rescuing a full-g grown man from a. burning building. I love it. This one. was great and it actually was better on. the internet. They released a version a. couple days ahead of the Super Bowl that. had a different ending and we think the.
ending on the internet was much better. than the one they showed on TV. We would. have actually ranked it higher. If it if. they had chosen the right ending. here, kick off. touch or tackle. Or if they ask us which. ending to use, they didn't. Hyundai or. Hyundai as you say, Hyundai. That's how. they say it over there, where that where. that word was invented. Yeah. Number. six, Kia Sarrento. Space babies. A kid. asked his dad, "Where do babies come.
from?" And he does what any loving. father would do. That's right. He lies. Is where babies come from. But Jake said babies are made when. mommies and daddies Play wheels on the. bus. Seriously, I I relate to this because my. son ask me this question. Where do. babies come from? And I lied to him. What did you say? I told him it had. something to do with the tides.
The like the moon and what's next? Number five. Taco Bell. Viva Young. Retirement home residents have a wild. night out on the town and then end up. loitering in a Taco Bell parking lot. I think the subliminal message here is. that the culmination of a series of bad. choices is going to be a Taco Bell. And. number four, Tide Miracle Stain. A guy.
gets a stain on his 49ers jersey that. looks like Joe Montana. Here we go. Stay. on a stick. My tail man. [Applause]. [Music]. Where's my 49ers jersey? Oh, I washed. it. You washed it? Had a stain on it. The highlight of this is clearly stain. on a stick. Can you buy those? Like on. their website? I'm going to start manufacturing them. Number three, Samsung. Next big thing.
This one stars Seth Rogan and Paul Rudd. with Bob Odenkirk. Very simply, this is. three very funny guys being very funny. That's really funny. I have LeBron. James. Hi, Braun. You in on Samsung? Yeah, totally. Maybe I'll do a cameo on. a tablet or something. I think the. LeBron cameo on a tablet idea is good. I. think they should do that. Number two, Oreo whisper fight. The. age-old debate of which is better in an.
Oreo, the cream or the cookie, breaks. out in a library. I've always preferred. the cream part of an Oreo. That's crazy. The cookie is the best part. Cream. cookie cream. cookie. cream cookie. You guys have to stop fighting. We're.
the cops. Are you guys ready? Are you. ready for number one? Number one from. us. Can you tell by matter of. elimination the only one that you. thought was great that we haven't talked. about that you think we could be in. agreement and think that it is number. one? Or if it's not in the comments, you're going to blast out at us and tell. us how stupid we are. You've been just. waiting until we've said number one to. really do that. Too much build up. Too. much. Build it down. Okay. But this is. not a big deal. It's just our opinion. Number one, Volkswagen. Get in, get. happy. This one features a man in an. office environment with an unexpected. outlook on life. Everything will be all.
right. Yeah, man. Don't fret me, brother. Sticky bun come. soon. Yeah. Wicked coffee, Mr. Jim. Julia, turn the frown the other way around. Hey, Dave, you're from Minnesota, right? Yes, I the land of 10,000 legs, the. gopher state. So, in conclusion, things. are pretty dismal. You know what? This. room needs a smile. Who want to come.
with I? There's a song that we're. singing. Come on, get happy. You guys. are 3 minutes late. Don't be no cloud on. a sunny day. Yeah. Chill, Winston. Sir, respect, Bossman. That's it. That's our number one best. ad. Yeah. I mean, by far when I saw it, I was like, "This is this is a. masterpiece." I don't know if if if you. agree or not, but I mean, it was it was. hilarious. It was unexpected because it.
was original. Totally original. It. didn't rely on any of the devices that. so many ads do. No talking animals. farting, sexy ladies, no farts, nobody. get hit in the nads, you know. It was it. was just totally unexpected. And that, you know, in fact, that's one of the. reasons that it won't win. It's not. going to be like the top Sunday. Were. you going to say Sundance? She's not. going to win Sundance. I can go out on a. limb and say none of these are going to. win Sundance, but it won't win like the. USA Today ad meter or whatever because I. already know it didn't. We looked at it.
just a second ago. It didn't win the USA. Today looked at it. They totally. disagree with us. I mean, we'll link to. it. They put it way down there, but it's. just so funny. This one um and you know. what the thing about it's got some. controversy. There are people saying. that this ad is racist. I don't quite. understand. People want to find. something wrong with everything. I. There's Jamaicans have come out in. defense of this ad. No lie. But we are. not Jamaican so we're not we're staying. out of I'm half Jamaican so I have every. right to say that I'm not offended by. this. Oh, I should have said that. I'm.
obviously not. Here's the last thing. It. was all those things and it made me feel. happy. Happy. You want to get in a. Volkswagen. In fact, I bought a. Volkswagen tonight. But that's why I was. here a little bit late. Really? I bought. a Beetle. You did? Yeah. So we could all. be happy together. What about your. accent, man? I'm not good at it. So, I. But I am, so I can do it for the two of. us, man. Yes. Just Hey, look at that. That's great. What did you say with the. sticky buns? Let us know what you think. about our top 15. Agree, disagree, did. we miss one? Did we misplace one? We're.
not going to We don't care what you. think, but And end this episode of Good. Mythical Morning. The way we end every. episode. This is your first episode of. Good Mythical Morning, you should watch. Monday through Friday every morning. We. do more of these. They're usually. different. Oh my goodness. And this is a. special one. This is when I get my. choice. Oh, you get to you get to choose. what I do to end this episode. This is. going to be difficult to film outside at. night. So, we got to film it in here.
You give me a piggyback ride. I don't. want to do a piggyback ride. I changed. my mind. It's too late, man. Just do it. It seemed fun. It Should I stretch? Just. do it. One, two. How? You're a lot heavier. I'm. coming up one. All right. Only one leg's. up right now. One. Okay. Oh god. [Music].
