Salty & Sweet Snack Combos Taste Test

(balls rattling). - Can we hit the sweet and salty snack jackpot? - Let's talk about that. (upbeat music). - Good mythical morning. - All great discoveries are the result of trial. and error in some form, I think. You know how many different types of fruit. Isaac Newton had to let fall on his head. before he discovered gravity? - I don't. Oh. - A thousand. - Uh-huh. A thousand exactly.

Should have gone with the apple first, buddy. - Yeah, well now it's our turn, Sir Rhett and Sir Link, to use that exact same spirit of experimentation. to uncover the greatest sweet and salty snack combo. you've never heard of. It's time for Hitting The Snack Box, Sweet and Salty Edition. Today we are letting the universe. determine our culinary destinies. because I have a bunch of balls over here in my raffle drum, I think is what you call this. My, it's all sweet foods. Links, all salty foods.

We're gonna randomly put together combinations. and see if we can find some stuff that actually works. - If we find some combos. that we've never heard of that we stand by, well, we're gonna put 'em in the VIC section. Very important combinations. And then these versions of us. will literally be standing by them. - Oh, we get to use our action figures. - Yeah, we do. Look at, look at all that action. - Yeah, it's not like we have a lot of those laying around. - Nope. All right, so let's not delay the fun.

Well, this is fun. - Okay. - Barrel of laughs. I feel like there should be a bunch of senior citizens. gathered around with stamps. - Bingo. - Okay. - What you got? - Strawberries. - Taco Bell fire sauce. - Oh, hey. - Maybe. - A spicy strawberry? That could work. - Maybe it could. - All right, y'all bring 'em in. - Okay. - Oh yeah. - So this right chere.

- This is some nice strawberries y'all. - "You have been warned.". - Fire is the one I get at the Taco Bell. - What you want, what you want me to do? - Well, I mean take a strawberry and put hot sauce on it. - You can do it this way. - However. - This is how I was thinking about doing it. - Okay, you dip, I dip. - [Both] We dip.

- Immediate yes. I mean, like strong yes. Like that is sweet and spicy. - It's not too... I mean they kind of make you scared. when it says, "You've been warned,". but it's not anything distasteful. - We would have never done this without the power of fate! - So bring your strawberries to Taco Bell next time. - Or just buy the sauce and do it on your own. - Oh, because if I'm not mistaken, Taco Bell does not serve strawberries. It's not one of the eight things that they have.

- They probably have at some point. - Wow. - You want another? - We're doing 10 of these. - Okay. - So... We're already standing by. We have discovered something right off the bat! - No, are you as amazed by that as I am? It doesn't... It seems like maybe you're just humoring me. - And then... - I love it! - Guess that goes back in there. - No, it doesn't go back in there. We don't want it in again. - Too late. - Okay. Okay. - I didn't put this in there. I put the...

- You put an empty ball in there. - The dip egg. - Okay. - Oh! So, note to self. - You need to be more concerned about what your actions are. - Note to self. Wow, I just did a Link. Okay, any more balls? Okay, any more balls? Okay. Give me a second to catch up. - I mean, mine are getting so scrambled over here. - Okay.

Ooh, yellow and green. - Flaming Hot Cheetos. - And peanut butter. (Link inhaling deeply). Hey, cheese and peanut butter. - We love peanut butter. Sometimes it works together. You ever heard of a toast chee nab? That's cheese and peanut butter. - But they're not spicy though. Spicy peanut butter? - I think we're doing a service. for people who are at home right now. They don't want to do takeout. They haven't made any food for themselves,

but they have Cheetos and peanut butter. - I mean... - Let's not do that. - Let's not desecrate this. I mean that first spoonful is important. - But I want to do it to this. I want to pass it through. and when it comes out the other side, I want to grab that. - You know everybody has their own technique. Peanut butter is so powerful. that I'm not going to do nearly that much. because I want to give it a chance. - Yeah, you're right. That is a lot. - I'm gonna do just... And also the calories. - I'm gonna do that much.

(chips crunching). - I just have this on my finger. - It tastes like a spicy nab. - Not bad at all. - And I am gonna do another one of these. - Oh my God. - Now I wanna say, I think that if you are in a certain frame of mind. that may be brought on by certain things, this would be incredible. And then you would really start talking about. how great it was.

And then you would call somebody. Don't do that. Don't call somebody. But we're gonna tell you right now... I mean, I'll let you make a call. - Hold on now. You're trying to put it back there, too? This is a red velvet rope, man. - How can we not say... Listen, the universe is being kind to us right now. I mean, there's gonna be some bad ones. I'm going to tell you. There's gonna be some bad ones. I've seen some stuff that's over there, but this is not a good one. - Watch out with that pointer finger. That scared me. - Hey, that's why you wear your safety glasses. - I mean, this has no business...

- Being this good. - Being this good. - I almost want to lick this that's got the spicy in it, but again, I'm trying to pace myself. - Well, don't put it on top of that. Leave... Isn't that pretty? - What are we gonna do? - Okay. All right. So yeah, we're gonna put this one-. - Yeah, we're doing it! Yes, I so stand by that. - It's crazy 'cause it's like, it's nutty, it's corny, it's cheesy, and there's a-. I mean, I think a non-flaming hot Cheeto-.

- Would be even better, maybe? - Would be even better. - Yeah. - And that's why I don't think it should be behind the rope. - Well, we definitely should put it behind the rope. Now, if I get super excited about this one, we can start being a little more discretionary. - Right, right. - Note to self, it's closed. - Right, right, right. (balls rattling). - Okay. Look at it, look at us free forming here, you know? We're just free forming. - Pink and white. Diet Coke.

- And yellow mustard. - You see what I'm saying, brother? I knew this would happen. I'm not gonna send this one through! - Hold on, maybe it's good! - No, I'm not a moron! - Maybe it's good. - I just play one on TV! Okay. (soda cans popping). - So you just take that. - Shake that mustard. - It's made to just go. right into it. - Right in there. Until... That's how you know you've got it.

When it starts to foam up. - [Speaker] Ooh, nice meniscus. - Look at that. It's like a little muffin top. Okay, here we go. (Link smacking lips). It's the amount of... Like if you were adding lime to your diet Coke, that's how much mustard we added. It gives you that same tinge. (Rhett coughs). - There are certain things that can happen in your stomach. that shouldn't happen in your mouth. Like this would happen at a baseball game, right?

Mustard would get with the Coke. Yeah, let's bring that glass in. and just to see if it's changed the appearance at all. (soda pouring). - [Link] Oh, I can see the floaties. - This one is not one that you're gonna be calling anybody. Oh, look at that. Oh gosh. Look at the worms in there. - How did you... - Mustard worms. - Look it, look it, look it, look it, look it. - Stay, stay, stay, stay, stay.

That's how they do it in the commercials. - [Link] Chemistry reaction muffin top. - This is how they make volcanoes. God puts the mustard in the diet Coke. (all laughing). - Mine is coagged. - Okay. - You see, I have standards! - Taste that. - No, I'm not tasting it. And I'm moving on because this is horrible. (glass cup sliding). I ain't about to get crazy with you. - Okay, well, at least you have principles. - Yes. If I don't like it, I'm not going to put it up there. All right, here we go. We're moving on.

- But have such a strong start though. I mean, wow. I just cannot wait to put something else behind that rope. - All right. - Blue and white. - Fig newtons. - Brie cheese. - Oh, sophisticated, sophisticated. Ah. - So how do we want to do this? You got all the cheese here. - Is there not a thing. to open just the top of a fig newton? Oh yeah, there is. - There it is. I though there was.

Well, first of all, this feels like one of those cheese boards. that your wife would do at a party. - Oh God, yeah. Charcuterie. - 'Cause she'll do some fig and some brie. I mean, this could be a really nice combo. I would just, I don't know. - And then... - Slather. - Slather? - Yeah. - I recommend, you know, it's kind of a... Oh, you're eating the whole thing? - No, half. - We got cracker material. - Whoa.

We've got fig fruit material. - Whoa. - Whoa-ho-ho! - [Link] We're adding the cheese. - I am eating the whole thing. - And you don't want to go light on the cheese either. - We don't need to get takeout ever again. We don't need charcuterie. We just need fig newtons and brie. - I'm gonna st... If this is what cooking is, I'm gonna start doing it. - Yeah, Link. Baby steps. - Bring in the cages, you know? - This is cooking. - This is so good. - Hold on. - This is crazy, y'all. - First of all... - This feels like a really good party idea. to have these two things.

and a bunch of ingredients. and just a bunch of drunk people around. - Yeah. - Just tasting different things. - Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. - I mean, do it. - You can't eat it until you-. - And report back. - What's gonna happen is, people going to want to start eating without spinning. and creating their own. But the rule is, it has to come from the barrels. - It's got to be from the fate gods. - It can be, you can call it the cage match. - Well, I'm continuing on. I'm having the time of my life! - Yeah, it's like sweet.

Brie has a little bit of like starting to be something. that I wouldn't like in a cheese, but it's not enough that I don't like the cheese. - Right. But do you like Oreo (coughs) Oreos? Oreos, Oreos. - Chicken nuggets. (Rhett and production team laughing). - Okay, I don't have a lot of confidence in this. - Oreo and chicken nugget. Maybe there's something that we can do in the presentation. - Oreos work the same way, right? Pop the top, yeah. (Oreo bag crinkling).

Wow, those chicken nugs smell strong. How about this for presentation? - [Link] Do we- (production team laughing). No, I think we got to integrate it more. - We got to pop it. - I mean, if you do this. - And keep that intact. And that's all. The cream is kind of functioning like mayonnaise. This is basically just a sandwich at this point. - How? Why, why? Who? There's no rationale. - This is why the party's fun! Hey, remember last night? - Got to eat it! What do you remember? I remember the Oreo and the chicken nugget.

We all hated it. (Oreos crunching). - Or did we? (production team laughing). Yes, we definitely did. - It tastes like- - Bad times. - Exactly what you think. And I would say- - Mm-mm. - I would say that this is not, like, this is no mustard and diet Coke situation. This is just two things that should never happen together, but it's not gonna make you vomit or anything. - This is worse than that.

- This is a hard no. A hard no. - Yeah. - All right? - Yeah, that's bad. - Okay. - That's bad. - But the-. You know what? As bad as things get, when you go back to rotating a barrel full of eggs, it just puts everything in perspective. You know it? - Eggs? - It's like-. I think these are kind of like Easter eggs. - Okay. - They're not. - They're a little too round for that. - Okay, we're gonna get polarizing here. Cranberry sauce. There's only so many things that that'll work with. - I got brie cheese again.

Did I put that one back in there? - Are you putting the balls back in? - Yeah, maybe I was. All right, I'll just pick another one. (paper rustling). Frito's bean dip. - Okay. Well, it's gonna be wet. Oh, and you got the good cranberry sauce. (bean dip thudding) (Production team laughing). - How? (Rhett exhaling deeply). - This is a-. First of all, this feels like right up Link Neil's alley. This is a spoon situation. - [Link] Mushy thing and a mushy thing. - I'm gonna just try to just skim off the top here,

and then I'm gonna- - Oh, that's pretty. - I'm double spooning here just to not cross contaminate, 'cause I might want that bean dip for later. And then I'm just-. - [Link] I'm gonna add another ribbon of bean. (Rhett sighing). - It just doesn't need to be done. - It's tangy and it's beanie. - It's not awful, but it's like-. - Like dog food type. - It just doesn't, it doesn't have anything working positively. for the combination.

Individually, they're good. - They'll feed cranberries to like animals now to like-. - Where at? - To help them with stuff. - With the UTIs? - Like dogs and whatnot. Yeah, dog UTIs. - It's your vet? - But something about these two cans. I'm tasting the can of it all. - What place are they doing this? Now you got me intrigued. - Just some of the dog treats that I, that I get for like-. - They have cranberries in them. - Yeah, they have cranberries in 'em. For joint health. Oh God, that's horrible. - You know what? Take this home to your dogs. because it's not worth it. - What a dud.

We started so strong. Have you lost faith in us? (balls rattling). - All right, if this one is bad, I'm gonna make an exception. I'm gonna pray. (production team laughing). Okay? I don't pray a lot, when I do-. - It's about this. - It's about Dos Equis. (all laughing). No, I don't know where I got that from. Okay. - Cream cheese. - It's a good pallet. - Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. This is gonna work! This is gonna work! - For? - Cherry Pop-Tarts. Ooh, actually, that's like cream cheese icing on a cake. - Absolutely, this is great.

- Yes, yes. - Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, tables have turned. No need to pray. (Rhett laughing). - Save your prayers for another day. Okay. - So that thing will really come out as a unit. - That's right. Yeah, that's how it's supposed to go. - All right, so it's a team player. - Now, first of all, there's already icing on top of a pop tart, but it's not cream cheese icing. - I like whipped cream cheese, so I'm gonna-. - Oh, Link, idea? Break in half, slather, sandwich.

- Oh, oh. You want me to add some air to it? - Please don't blow on my cream cheese before you-. - Whoa, whoa, ay, ay. - Whoa, whoa. - Thank you. (production team laughing). And squeeze. And this is yours. And then I can probably make do. with what you put on my hand. (Link and production team laughing). Actually, actually-. - Look how good of a sport he is. Here. - Actually, just hit me, hit me strong. Nah, no, no, no, no. Reasonable, reasonable amount. This is what plates are for.

Okay, that's good, that's good. That's good. Some things that you shouldn't do in your hands. - Isn't that beautiful? - Of course this is good. - Oh God. - Mm. - Cream cheese. - You can take a little extra off your hand. - Good God. - It's so good. But now I can't spin my drum. - It kind of gives it-. Are we VICing this or? - Hell yeah. - We have to. - Yeah, I mean, this is super decadent though.

I will say that. - It's what it needed. Like Pop-Tarts needed this. And I bet you got this just sitting in the fridge. just begging to be slammed. - I'll put cream cheese on a lot of things. - You know? - Oh my gosh. - And I will not apologize about it. - Yeah, I gotta keep eating that. I mean, that-. And it's just so pretty. Look at that. - Got a few more. - I mean, I'm starting to feel like the rotation. is a bit unnecessary.

Just go like this. - No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. No, because the only way that the gods get involved. is with the rotation. - Plural? - Yeah, yeah. Definitely, plural. - We're getting multiple now? If you, if you don't spin it, she doesn't hear you. - Okay, cheese whiz. - Eggo blueberry waffle. Ughy. - Maybe not. - Ughy, okay. And it's blueberry waffle. It's not just a regular waffle.

- You don't keep this around anymore, do you? - Not anymore. - Does your mom still keep this around? - I hope so. - Slam it down there. - Yeah, go for it. Whiz it up. That's okay. Good, good, good, good, good! That's good! - Oh, when you were saying good, did that mean stop or did that mean you're doing a good job? - [Rhett] I mean it like-. - [Link] Do I want to flip it over. and eat it like a sandwich, too? - Well, I was thinking that, and then you did so much. that I feel like I need all layers of Eggo.

to balance it out. - I'll just do that. Cheese Eggo sandwich. I just don't know about the blueberry with that. Eyebrows are up. Eyeballs are big. - Try it. It's not a turnoff. It almost has the way that cheese and apple pie go together. I could totally see that being somebody's, like, pregnancy craving. I don't think we should put it on the-. - No, no, it doesn't go behind the rope. - But I can understand it.

- We got to have some combinations. on the outside of the rope to watch what's happening here. And then they're out here dancing. And then they're in here just drinking and being rich. - I mean, we only have a, we have a 50% hit rate right now, which I think is actually remarkably high. Oh, you wanna put in on the-. - You know, they're hanging on the rope. until security comes by and tells them, you don't belong here. Which has happened to me. - Yep, and many times actually. - I get next to the rope and then I'm like,

Well, maybe somebody will notice me. and invite me to the other side of the rope. - You see, you think someone knowing you ahead of time. increases your chances of getting invited somewhere? Interesting. (balls rattling). - If I were a lesser man, that might hurt. - Okay, blue. (balls rattling). - White. - Rice Krispies Treat. - Did you put the S in the right place? - I'm just reading. - Rice Krispies Tr-.

- It's a Rice Krispies Treat. - Rice's krispy treat. No, you're right. Chili crisps. - Oh! - Chili's crisp. - Chili crisp. - Okay, okay. - Well, hold on now. - Chili crisp does a lot. - Hold on. - Chili crisp can do a lot of heavy lifting around here. - [Link] Oh my goodness. - I should just start opening things like my kids do. (production team laughing) (bags rustling). (sighs) Okay. - And you'd think. that they were like four and five years old. - No, no, no. They're adults, basically. (Link laughs).

All right. You want to split? - No. - No reason to split. - We want to, we want to use our own. - I think because of the chili crisp of it all-. - Oh, we did have plates. - Yeah, I've got a whole stack actually. I believe about 10. - So we're gonna do, - If you could apply. we're gonna do one of these. I'm gonna do it to mine. and then you see how you think you want yours in-. - I like you to go deep. Nice, nice. And then spread. - I think I want even more. - Okay, well, I-.

Hmm. I feel like what I want is what you did to yours. and then spread. Maybe somewhere in between those two. - Okay. - [Rhett] And then a full spread. That's pretty. Okay. - Oh, that's going to be crispy on crispy. - Yeah, double crisp. - Ha! - Double crisp. - I mean, the fates have aligned. I think we need to dink and sync this. 'cause I'm starting to feel promising. - Oh, bugger. (Link gagging). (production team laughing).

I think you went a little hard. - I think I did. (production team laughing). I think I did, too. - [Rhett] You went way too hard on the chili crisp. - We need some spicy tuna on there. (coughs). (Rhett coughing). - Can I try, can we try again? - Well, 'cause what's that called? A crispy- - Crispy tuna. - You get crispy rice. - Crispy rice. It's just without the marshmallow. - Here. (bag crinkling). - You think that-. I was hoping it could work. I don't think there's any way it could work. You're thinking if I do less, it's gonna work?

- I just-. The double crisp of it all, I just feel like, I feel like maybe just touching a previous one. - I'll just dip it in there a little bit. - [Production Member] Oh. - Oh, I did-. I always do too much of this stuff. (production team laughing). But then if I bite, bite this part, maybe. (rice krispie crunching). - No. - I hate it. - Nope. (production team laughing). - We tried so hard. - It doesn't work. - Oh, God. - Doesn't work. - Real bad. - All right, Link, we got one more.

It's gotta work. - Take it, please. - We gotta go until we get one more. There's space for it. Okay. (Link sighs). (balls rattling). Come on. You wanna pray? Do you wanna pray? - Yeah. (production team laughing). ♪ Lord we thank thee ♪. ♪ Lord we- ♪ - I'm not gonna do a song. - All right, fine. Then, no. - God, or goddess, or goddesses.

- I just don't-. Let's not pray for comedy reasons. - Okay, then I'll make it serious. Dear Lord- (Link laughs). - You're really gonna go for it? - I'm serious about this. - Close your eyes then. Never seen you pray. - I want to see him, her, them. I want to see them. I want to see all of them. There's multiple ones. This is not for comedy. - Keep your eyes closed. - Just so you understand this is sincere. Please make this last combination work for me. and my best friend, Link.

You know him. He's next to me here. Because we want this to end on a positive note. that is pleasing for people of all faith. - Amen. - And people of non-faith. - The nuns. - In combinations name. - And when I say nuns, I mean both people who have no religion. and the Catholic ones. - [Link] All right. (Rhett sighs). - [Both] Amen. - Oh, I didn't even spin it. (ball rattling). - Oh, oh, I've got bacon. Lots of promise here.

Okay, now, for the Nutella. - That wouldn't happen if I didn't pray. - What I'm gonna do. is I'm gonna throw another plate down. I'm gonna put-. - Oh, I can smell that this is going to work. - Oh, look how-. Yeah, yeah, yeah. - [Rhett] I have an idea for this. - I'd like to put my bacon to bed before.

Goodnight, bacon. You're gonna never wake up. - I want to take the Nutella, I want to ride it along the bacon. and then I want to twist the bacon up. - [Link] Oh, he's riding it.
