Making Foods That Should Exist
- Can we make your crazy food dream. a crazy food reality? - Let's talk about that. (light music). (air whooshing) Good Mythical Summer. - They say that necessity is the mother of invention. - Yeah. - But we say, "Why so old-fashioned?". - Oh. - Invention can. have two daddies. - And those two daddies are us. Yes, Link and I are currently in a platonic, non-monogamous co-parenting partnership.
to make sure your wildest food dreams. grow up big and strong. - It's time for Making Dreams Come Chew. (upbeat music). - We asked you to tell us some of your food dreams. We have picked our favorites and brought them to life. - This one's from Nicole D. "Breakfast food is good, but I'm not craving it a lot in the morning. More of a night breakfast enthusiast. How do I look like I'm eating normal breakfast food. that tastes like lunch in front of normal people?".
- Mm. Well. - Wow, Nicole. So you like breakfast at night, but you like lunch in the morning. - Nothing to see here. Just a regular breakfast cereal for morning consumption. - Yeah. - Your friends won't think. this is weird when you get this box out. - And you just pour it in a bowl. because it's cereal that you pour in a bowl. You know? - Nothing to see here. It's not hard to open. - It's a cereal box. How hard could it be? - You know, it's not a normal cereal box.
Good golly, that's so strong. - Okay. - You know, just nothing to see here. Just. (cereal rattling). dehydrated chicken pot pie. - Shh! - Shh! - Cereal. - Cereal, cereal, cereal. - Let me pour the milk, which is kind of my thing. - Which is actually gravy. Warm gravy. We got warm gravy. Your friends will think it's milk. They'll think you're just eating cereal. - Mm. Smells so good. There's nothing like giving your-. - Dried chicken. - Giving your arteries.
something to do the rest of the morning. (spoon tapping) Okay. - Mm. - I wanna get some of those nice orange pieces. (crew laughing). - It's crispy. - Cereal is just a breakfast soup, you know? - Mm. They're crispy. - Mm-hm. Oh yeah. If you like breakfast for dinner, you're gonna love this for breakfast.
- I've never had chicken become chicken again in my mouth. You know what I'm saying? Like, the way it just became chicken again. - We have the power to make chicken. become chicken again in our mouths. You too can have that. Mm. - And I think this would be good camping. You could put your gravy into your camelback. - Ugh! - Warm it up on a hot day. close to your body. - Someone's gonna look over your shoulder. and be like, "Hold on, does that cereal. have, like, peas and what is that, pepperoni?".
Oh, no, that looks like carrots. Are you really sure, though? - Yeah, it's like little Trix. You know, Trix are for kids. - No. Yeah, these are just little green puffs. It's good for you. Don't taste it. It's mine. - Okay. - That's all you gotta say. - Nicole D, I would like you to know something. In the past, literally every time we've done this, we have had to decide whether or not the dream was achieved. or the dream was ill conceived. - Uh-huh. - And we've always said that the dream is achieved. And I don't know. - Have we, though?
- Yeah, every single time. - That's just because? - And I don't know if that's just. because we believe in the vision, but I think we've done it again. I mean, really, all that to say. - I think we have. - So regular breakfast cereal for morning consumption. that is actually lunch? - [Together] Dream achieved. (upbeat music) (air whooshing). - This portion of today's episode. is sponsored by Mint Mobile. Premium wireless without the premium price tag. - I'd say that we're both routine guys, you know? - Mm-hm. - We like to stick to a schedule.
What motivates you to switch things up, Rhett? - Well, you know, I used to slap myself in the morning. and say, "Come on, boy. It's gonna be a good day.". You remember I would do that kind of thing? - Uh-huh. - And then I realized, it kind of hurt a little bit. So I stopped doing it. because it wasn't serving me anymore. - Oh, well, I guess I'll stop slapping myself. in the face every morning too. - Yeah, it's an easy switch. And what, Link, makes Mint Mobile an easy switch. is the question that I wanted to get to. - I'm glad you asked, Rhett. It can be done entirely online.
- Ah! - No need to go to the store. or talk to salespeople. But I wanna know, Rhett, what if you wanna get unlimited data? - Oh, I'm glad you asked. Well, Mint lets you choose from 6, 17, or 23 gigabytes. or unlimited data packages. But Link, what if you have commitment issues? - Well, I'm so glad you asked. They have a seven-day unconditional money back guarantee. on all plans. - Well, stop overpaying for wireless. just because that's how it's always been. Switch to Mint Mobile and get three, six, or 12 months of premium wireless for 15 bucks a month.
That's any plan, even unlimited. - Scan the QR code or click the link in the description. And thanks again to Mint Mobile for sponsoring this portion. of today's episode. - Okay, let's see our next submission. This is coming from Faro Candy. all the way from Manchester, UK. - Oh, okay. - "I'm tired of eating noodles. and having the water splat all over my phone. in front of me while I'm trying to watch GMM. No matter how neatly I try. to collect the noodles onto my fork, somehow I end up flicking sticky noodle drip everywhere. Can you make noodles in a congealed form.
whereby I can push it out of its packaging slowly whilst,". UK, "eating from one hand like a push-up ice lolly?". - Push-up ice lolly. - "Thanks.". Lolly. Well, Faro Candy, we don't mind if we do. - We have done it. We have the no-leak foods right here. and it's ramen with a top. You want a little dink and sink? Oh, you were just looking at it. - Well, I was just kind of looking at it. - I thought you were trying to dink. - Just looking at it. - Okay. - [Carney] You called those no-leak foods,
but I don't think that's what it says. - No-leak noods. - Noods. - Yes. - No-leak noods. - You're exactly right, Carney. Thank you. - So Nicole, did you... - No-leak noods. - How did you make these noodles congealed? - [Nicole] Well, you know how gelatin. is my best friend, right? - Oh yeah. - [Nicole] Yeah. Our good old friend, gelatin. - [Rhett] So it's not frozen, it's gelatinized. - [Nicole] No, it should be on the colder side, but it's not frozen. - [Rhett] Look at that. Look at that. - Oh, and it does retract 'cause it is cold. Look, it just retracts on its own in coldness. - But it has not dripped on me.
Not one little bit. - Nope. - It's got a nice smell. I'm sure it's gonna taste great. - Yeah. - It's actually not bad. - Yeah. Not bad at all. - It's actually great. - One-hander. - Huh. - Watching a show. Got my phone out here. - I like. - Getting some spiciness. Mm. - Yeah, this is good. What kind of ramen is it? - [Nicole] Shin.
- Oh. Mm-hm. - Mm-hm. - Shin. - That's nice. The noods haven't leaked! Thank God. - Okay, well, we've gone international now. - Isn't this a beautiful little thing that we've done? No need to clean my phone. Which is a good idea to do occasionally anyway. - [Rhett] You're welcome, Faro Candy. Dream achieved. - Achieved. (upbeat music) (air whooshing). Next question comes from Allison F. "My friends love going to these very chic restaurants. where they serve small plates.". - Small plates.
- "But it's such an inefficient way to eat. You're totally at the mercy. of people's plate-passing abilities.". - Oh yeah. - "Last time, the tempura green beans never made it over. to my side of the table and I never got to try any, but we all split the bill evenly. Like, are you insane? I'm not Venmoing you $80. for two bites of burrata and one oyster. I'm getting worked up. Can you help me?". - Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. - Allison. - Allison, this is great. because let me just tell you right now, I completely relate to this. - Mm. - Go out to get some tapas with your friends.
And I don't care, if I go out to eat, I don't care if you start telling me. about an unfortunate diagnosis, I'm thinking about the food. I'm gonna be honest with you. I don't care what the subject matter is. When the food shows up, I'm thinking about the food. And when I eat with this man. and a group of people, I'll notice that-. - I love going hard with unfortunate diagnoses. - The food hits, like, if a plate. is set down next to him-. - Oh, thank you. - Well, he won't even acknowledge. that it's set down next to him. He won't take any food from it and he won't pass it.
- So I'm waiting on further tests, so. - And so instead of having to say, "Hey, boy who just got diagnosed with something, pass the small plate to me," we have this. - The doctor thinks I'm a boy. I'm still going to the children's hospital. - We have this contraption. - They give better tests there. - So what you're gonna do. is while your friend is giving you this unfortunate news, you're not gonna look at them. You're going to look at the plates. and you're going to position the forks. in approximately the position. that you see those plates,
'cause these are all bendable arms here. and you're trying to kind of make it line up. And then the next thing you're doing. is you are extending to full. And then you are turning it like this. And then you are coming in. - The test itself actually hurt worse. than, I think, the problem that it found. You know what I'm saying? So like, I kind of regret- - Then you're just. gonna come in. - Even going forward with it. - If you have to reach and readjust. a little bit, you can do that. And you're gonna get one of those.
- [Link] Oh, wow. (crew laughing). - And then you just come back to your side. and you have a little din-din. And you can do this in any order. The order that I would do it in is egg first. - [Link] I did tater first. - Potato second. - Mm. - Boneless wing third. - I already had a boneless wing. Little nugget. - And then.
dessert. - Look at that. I put a nugget inside of my egg. Has that ever been done before? I didn't even need an invention for that. - What were you saying? I'm not listening. I'm just thinking about the food. - I'm terminal. (crew laughing). - You see that? And now I can listen to my friend talk about his diagnosis. because I've gotten a little bite of everything. Now I'm not wondering "What do I really like? What do I really want?".
- And when it's done, you can, like, fit it in your pocket. - Yeah, you just fold it right back down. Just like that. And then you just kind of... - Yep. Yep. In the crotch. - And then you just, you just carry this. Set it on the table. (crew laughing). - Actually, I'm gonna need to use that in my treatment. (Rhett laughing). - Okay. - I mean, you did an amazing job, dude. I thought you were gonna struggle with it a little more. - Oh, no. - Of course, we always knew.
it was dream achieved, but I mean, without a doubt, the small plate spork. - [Together] Dream achieved! (upbeat music) (air whooshing). - We got a new pin of the month. The Randler Stained Glass pin. is available today only. It features the iconic Randler in a stained glass window. Make sure you never miss a pin launch again. by subscribing to our pin of the month subscription, all right? Shop now at mythical.com. - Okay. Let's see what else we got. This one's coming from Garrett L.
"I love the Costco food court, but every time I order a chicken bake, I can never finish it. It's just so big. And the flavors of chicken, bacon, and season or dressing get boring after a while.". - Uh-huh. - "It could desperately use some kind of dipping sauce. to liven things up. And its long shape begs to be dipped and dunked. But somehow Costco themselves haven't gotten the memo. Can you help me come up. with something the world desperately needs? The perfect dipping sauce. to compliment the Costco chicken bake?".
- So we have some chicken bakes here. - And we got two dipping sauces. - Before we get to those sauces, though-. - It's big. - I believe we've had this on the show. I'm gonna break it in half and look inside. Isn't there sauce in there? - Well, it's a little bit juicy in there, but I mean, it does feel like it could stand some dipping. We've got two sauces. We've got this one. - Yeah. - The Sweet of the Night.
Little sweet and spicy. What went into this one? - [Nicole] So it's a pineapple habanero sauce. - Ooh. - [Nicole] Yeah. And the thought behind it was. that sweetness and that spiciness. is gonna cut through all of that richness. - Uh-huh. - Mm. - And of course, you just bring these. into Costco in your pocket. - [Nicole] Mm-hm. - Mm-hm. Mm. That's good. What about the green one? - [Nicole] The green one is a green bell pepper, cucumber, and lemon sauce. Again, kind of the same note. of cutting through that richness, but instead with a really green, fresh flavor.
- Double dip? - Go for it. - I could also do this. - Are these things pricey? Or are they cheap 'cause they're Costco? - They're Costco. That's kind of the whole point. - [Nicole] I think they're like, what, like five bucks? Four bucks? Something like that. - For basically a whole meal. - It's just a really long Hot Pocket. For four bucks? 3.99? I mean-. - I like it. - That's good. It's obviously good for you. - That's nice too.
- Let me try it. - But I think I like this. The spicy one. - I know. Because it's so sweet and spicy. Mm. Triple dip? Yeah, yeah, that's good. It looks like apple sauce, though, Nicole. - [Nicole] I know. Yeah, it really does. - What's wrong with that? - Well, I guess nothing. Thank you for asking that. Really pushing back. (Rhett laughing). It looks like applesauce, Nicole. - [Nicole] It sure does.
- That's what I meant to say. You wanna sit here and watch me eat the whole thing? - I mean, that really does... - Or is it pretty much obvious what's happening here? - That's what's about to happen. - Uh-huh. - Garrett, your dream has been achieved! (upbeat music). (air whooshing). - We got one from Connor H. "I am a mechanic, and I find it troublesome that I have. to leave the vehicle I'm working on to eat.". - Mm. - "Could you make me a meal. that can easily be enjoyed under a vehicle?".
Yes. (air whooshing). - Connor, we present to you the Mecca Meal. We have outfitted what they call a car creeper. You already know that. The sled that people like you get on. when you work on cars underneath. - I've always wanted to get on one of these. - And we each have our own meal. I will be enjoying a hot dog. (crew laughing). - And with the addition of this rod, I will be enjoying a corn on the cob. So let's get to work. - Yeah. - Look at this.
I mean, I guess you put your butt right there. and then you, if you put your head... Well, hold on. - I mean, I'm a big mechanic. - [Link] Oh. - I gotta get my hands on my hot dog. - That's kind of comfy. Oh yeah. And then right there, I can get to it. How are you doing? - I'm doing good. I've been dealing with an alternator. that's been kind of getting messed up. with a carburetor and the fuel line.
and the catalytic converter. - Tell me about it. - And I just, and the timing belt. has gotten strung up in there. And I think that maybe the spark plugs. are having an issue as well. And that's all the car parts that I know of. - And I'm under here just beside you. 'cause I like to watch you work. (Rhett laughing). Just like you like to watch me to eat a corn on the cob, which is awkward. - Now, I'm gonna put... (Link laughing). Here's what I'm gonna do. - See how awkward it can get?
- I'm gonna balance those on my chest right there. - Look. Look at me. Tell me this isn't awkward. (Rhett laughing). - That's a little bit... Now, don't forget your condiments. So I'm gonna turn my wiener over. and drop my mustard. Oh. And then I'm gonna put it... Well, wherever that was. - Oh yeah, here we go. - Where's my ketchup? Get my ketchup on there. - And then what is it? What do I... I think I have salt over here.
- And then I'm gonna turn it over. Oh God, look what I put in that sauce. I didn't mean to. - You know, you gotta be. using your hands to work. - Well, I'm just, I'm on break. - [Link] Mm. (crew laughing). - Well, I lost a bun. But you know what? I'm low carb. - You gained a friend. You know what I'm saying? - I'm low carb. Oh!
I'm gonna need to wash that. - Let me help you out. Let me help you out and see if I can get that for you. Where are you going? Where are you? Oh, you going that way? - I could go anywhere I want, really. - Oh. - Oh. - Here. Oh. Here, get your bun back on there. - [Rhett] This is (indistinct). - Whoo! - Now, Connor,
(crew laughing). I don't advise you eating a hot dog while lying down. But I'm a professional. Oh, I think you got condiment in your hair. Your hair just touched me. I think I got butter on me. - I feel like I'm creating an experience. (crew laughing). - So anyway, I don't know what your friends are gonna think about it, your coworkers, but I think it's pretty clear here, Connor, (upbeat music) (air whooshing).
