Is There Anything Better Than Mustard On Corn Dogs?
Have we been eating corn dogs all wrong? Let's talk about that. [Music]. [Applause]. [Music]. >> Good mythical summer. >> We're about to find out if there's. anything better than mustard to pair. with your corn dog. But first, we are so. excited to be partnered with Kroger, our. sponsor for today's episode. >> Yeah. Kroger is the kind of place where. you don't have to choose between quality. and price. You get both. No compromises.
>> Grocery shopping for the whole family. can be tough. But when you go to Kroger, you can find great deals and fun new. products to spice up meal time. >> And I am a big fan of saving money, so I. feel like a winner when I leave with a. lower bill. >> But when you got busy schedules like we. do, it's hard to find the time to go to. the store. That's why Kroger's same day. pickup or delivery offers a convenient. and reliable way to make sure your. fridge is always stocked. Life can be. busy and chaotic over here at GMM. Using. Kroger Express Delivery, make sure your.
order arrives when you need it most. And. it's so easy to do. Speaking of products. that we need, all of today's food will. be from Kroger. Yeah. For example, these. mini corn dogs we're going to be using. today. And you'll get a look at the. pairings for those corn dogs a bit. later. Uh-huh. So, next time you're out, stop by your local Kroger, where you. don't have to settle on price or quality. when it comes to what you eat. Now, let's take it back to corn dogs. Yes, mustard makes just about everything. better, especially corn dogs. But is.
there some kind of flavor game changer. out there that we humans have never. thought to slather on a dog? >> It's time for next best thing. Corn dogs. and mustard edition. Let's remind ourselves how good corn. dogs and mustard are. >> I think we should. We're going to be. using the mini corn dogs, not the fulls size ones, which you know, I think it'll help me pace myself. >> Mhm. >> Maybe it won't. >> Oh, >> mustard is arguably the perfect.
compliment for. meaty, savory, >> cornbreddy. >> Don't make goodness. >> Don't let me eat the second half of. this. >> Don't you do it. >> Because I want to eat so many of these. I want to pop them in. I'm actually. proud. >> Save yourself that I just ate half of. it. >> Yeah. Save it for later. >> Yeah. Good job, Brett. >> Also, the sweetness in the cornbread, all of that leaves a perfectly shaped. mustard gap. >> There's no way there's anything better. than this, right? >> Well, it just needs to be the next best. thing. Oh, >> okay.
>> Our first mustard alternative is Kroger. tartar sauce. >> Can you say tart tartar sauce? Tart. >> You know, when I looked at the word, I. knew it was tartar, but you you it begs. to be called tartar. >> Tartar sauce. It sounds fancier. Yeah. >> I mean, you take out the fish and you replace it. with a hot dog. Is it still a fish? >> It's gonna be creamy. We know that.
>> I want to believe it's seafood, >> but it's not. >> I want to believe it. >> Don't believe the things you want to. believe. Believe the things that are. worth believing. Link, >> everyone believes what they want to. believe. That's what I believe. >> You want to believe that and you're. wrong. >> No, I think I'm right. >> I think you are right. And I do think I. like this because. I really like tartar sauce. And it's still got that tang of mustard. So it's it's filling that tang gap. >> I mean, what? >> But that's one way to put it.
>> And there's there's basically pickles in. there. Mayonnaise with relish in it. Is. that essentially what you're dealing. with? >> Well, that's an oversimplification, R. The truth of the matter is, I don't. know. >> Think about it. You put mayonnaise and. relish on a hot dog sometimes if you. know what you're doing. >> Yes. >> So, this kind of makes sense to me why. we like it. I don't like it as much as. mustard, but again, that's not what. we're doing. Just letting the people. >> I almost do. >> It needs tang. You know what I want to. do? I want to mix them.
>> It has tang, man. >> No, we need this. >> Tarter is tang. >> Can we mix them? Is that Is that off? >> No. Can't mix them. >> That's a different format. >> You can do that. You can do that on a on. one of those like scheduled date off. day. Up next, we have creamy balsamic. vinegrett. M. Huh. So, it's creamy and. tangy still. And it says vinegrett with mustard seed. >> Garlic and spices. Mustard seed. Well,
where do mustards come from? >> He doesn't know. >> Where do mustards come from? Mustard. seeds. >> That's right. They're the smallest of. seeds, but they make the biggest of. trees. >> That's not true. Boy, I wanted to like this, but it's too. much. It's too much. It's too balsamicy. Maybe. you dip too hard. >> I dipped real hard. >> It only takes a little tink of a dip.
Tink. That's all you need. >> It helps when you get the proportions. right. But it's there's something about it that. it's working. too hard and the taste of a corn dog. Like I I like putting balsamic vinegrett. on my salad because you know why? >> That's where it goes. >> I don't like my salad. >> Oh, I like putting something I like on. something I don't like. But something I. already do like that I wouldn't need. sauce to enjoy. I'd eat this whole plate.
by myself in a corner. Some my house, somebody else's house. Are you facing the corner? >> Oh, I'm definitely facing the corner. with a plate this big. >> But but you're not feeling punished. >> I might go into the attic if you got one. of those ladders. >> I love finding one of those in. somebody's house that I don't know. about. I found three four ladders this. summer alone in people's homes that they. didn't know about. >> Anyway, if you were out there in the. attic, >> you'd be one of those hunters. >> Yeah. I would love to squat in. somebody's house for an extended period.
of time. >> I had a neighbor who that's who they. were. >> They were a squatter. >> Yeah. Didn't know it. Didn't know it. >> Neighbors moved out. Squatterers moved. in. I couldn't tell the difference. >> The key is to go down and use three. weeks. >> You go down and use the bathroom and the. facilities and everything while they're. not there. Don't do it while they're. there. You can't be quiet enough. Trust. me, >> you can't be quiet enough. I'm I'm. loving what you're saying because you're. saying tartar sauce stays. >> Yeah. Tartar sauce. Tart tartar sauce. stays. Love that.
>> Now it's time for some beef gravy. >> It's always time for some gravy. How could How could this be bad? It's salty. >> It's cold. >> Yep. Y'all have Y'all have given us. refrigerated gravy. >> Well, good on you. I'd say it's room. temp. >> No, that was in the refrigerator about. 60 seconds ago. >> Yeah, it is. It's been chilled. It's.
been chilled for our pleasure. chilled gravy. Um, >> well, now that I know that's what I'm. about, you know, I feel like. >> corn dogs are getting colder and colder. >> I feel like I got to do a clean corn. dog. I'm going in. >> Now that I know what I'm doing, >> I'm feeling I don't need to taste that. again. >> H, if it was hot, it'd be a different. thing. Are there instructions? Okay. >> Well, we have a we have a clock wipe. >> stove top microwave. >> We called for a clock wipe and we could. heat it up.
>> It's too late for that. I'd rather I'd. rather throw shade at the staff. >> The staff? >> Yeah. I didn't say it. I didn't say it. You didn't even call him the mythical. crew. >> Start him with calling him staff. >> Yeah. >> Throw shade at the staff. This is I mean it. >> it's oddly quiet in here, boys. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Um here's the thing, Link. I think we should clockwipe it and. heat it up because I feel like hot gravy.
is going to be a whole different. experience. >> All right, clockwipe. We got hot wieners. We got hot gravy. >> Goodness. Thank you, crew. >> Here we go. >> They're back. You're back. >> Is it real hot though? Different experience. Mhm. As gravy is intended to be. >> That tastes good. I'm going in for a. second one just because I like it.
But is it what I'm looking for? It's. it's it's not the same, but it's kind of. more the same. More savory. >> It's not as There's not a. >> eyebrows didn't raise. >> like a juiposition. Yeah. Happening like. a complimentary. It's just Yeah. >> Right. >> It is good. I think you should try it. Um, but I don't think that it's going to. knock. It's not It's definitely not going to.
knock off the tartar. >> Not going to tell on the. >> What have you been doing? >> Okay, we're moving on to a fresh option. here. Guacamole. >> Oo. Interesting. >> I bet you this has happened before when. somebody wasn't looking. You know, cuz. these two things might end up at a. party. Finger foods. >> There you go. And you're out of the. chips. You got a little bit more to. guac. >> Nobody's in the kitchen. You're in the. corner. >> Mhm. >> Facing away. >> That's right. I face away at parties,
too. >> I've tried dipping all types of stuff in. guac. Well, first of all, it's hard to. get a lot on it because of the dometic. >> Look how much I got a lot. >> How'd you do that? Did you Did you use. your finger? >> No. No. I went real deep, though. Well, here's the thing. Guacamole is good. I. really like guacamole.
>> Guacamole is good. It's complex. It's. >> But I can't really go in for a second. one without getting my fingers. >> The Yeah. See, now you're raking it with. your thumbnail. >> That as a test. >> That was kind of groy. I don't want to. Yeah. And now I'm going in with that. I. think this is the death nail to it. >> The lime. >> Just the logistics of dipping. The lime. helps. It tastes fine, >> but you find yourself wanting. >> tart sauce chip. >> Oh, yeah. Right. >> Like the guacamole is so good that it.
makes you want to start eating another. food than the one you were currently. dipping. And all of a sudden, you're at. a fork in the road and you started on a. a hot dog place, corn dog place, and now. you're in Chip Town. >> You know what I'm saying? >> With with no chips to be seen, though. It's too much of a thing to be a. compliment. >> That's my thing. It's too good. >> Yep. I'm really pulling for the tatar at. this point. >> I'm not pulling for anything. I'm. unbiased. I'm being honest. It's not as. good.
>> Quick reminder, our halfhour comedy over. on our Retin Link channel. Wonderhole. season 2 is happening every Sunday now. Comes out every Sunday at 11:00 a.m. Pacific. That's right. >> That's 2:00 p.m. Eastern. Did I say. every Sunday? >> You did. >> It's every Sunday. Six in a row. Matter. of fact, the first episode's out now. >> Mhm. So, the secret to setting up a tent. is finding a level surface. Thankfully, water is by default a level surface. Your dad told me that. Manhun mania. It's actually kind of cool that he ended. up deciding to go because he didn't have.
a son there. I kind of became like his. surrogate son, but I still had my dad at. the same time. So, it was like I got my. dad and your dad focused on me the. entire time. But somehow them together. felt like more than two dads. at least. three to five. >> Next up, we have sweet and sour sauce. >> Now, sweet. >> You know, you were saying earlier that. people believe what they want to. believe. >> Yes. >> I want to believe that this is going to. be better than tartar sauce. I'm just. going to be honest with you. I want to.
believe that. I'm putting my biases out. on the tables. >> I don't want to believe it. >> Why don't you want to believe? >> Because it's not as exciting. You dip. this in nuggets. >> You dip it in nuggets. >> Well, you know, you dip nuggets. >> Hold on now. Write that down, guys. Staff, write that down. >> Make a big thing of nuggets. >> We're going to figure out how to dip. things in nuggets. >> You dip nuggets in it, you know. So, it's like. >> this is nugget like. >> a mini corn dog is nothing but a a corn. dog nugget. Mostly sweet with a little sour.
Double triple. But is sour tang? Not quite. You haven't been stopping me. from eating all the corn dogs. >> I'm sorry. >> You've been letting me eat a whole corn. dog. >> I'm sorry. >> Several times now. >> I need you to stop me. >> This is a robust rendering of sweet and. sour sauce. >> Do you mean the picture or do you mean. >> the taste? It It's It's elaborates.
>> Can you bring the tartar in? I kind of. feel like at this juncture I don't want. to make a wrong call. >> I need to remember what this was. >> This is unexpected. Relish, mayo, hot dog. >> All right. I'm still on tartar. >> Everything you said, man. >> Still on tartar. >> Uhhuh. In spite of his biases, which are. multiple. >> And finally, we have chocolate pudding. >> Good work. You're a pudding man.
>> Crew. Do you have a pu? You have a. pudding bias, don't you? >> Yes, I am very pro pudding. Are you pro. putting your mini corn dogs in it? >> I can't say that I've ever been, but if. this were a churro, I could be excited. immediately. And this is a churro with a. hot dog in the middle. Kind of. >> How many many corn dogs is he putting in. his pudding? >> How many many corn dogs is he putting in.
his pudding? It's not as hard to say as it's kind of. two tongue twisters in one that both. halfbaked. >> Yeah. Well, I'm just starting somewhere. You went heavy on your pudding. >> Oh, I'm going to go heavier. >> Wow. >> Look at that. Look at there. That's. good. That's good. It looks like Put. some eyeballs on it. It It look like a. little Elvis. >> That's right, Link.
That's it, boy. Meaning that's the last time I'm going. to do it. >> It just. >> It started like pudding and then it. became corn dog and. >> but it never became. >> the threshold between the two. >> was not when I wanted to cross again. >> Impermeable. and I'm not just saying that because of. my biases. >> Okay, link. I think this Okay, so we're. on the same page here. is tartar. But. you got to bring it in. And you got to.
bring in mustard because at this point. >> we're I just want to make sure that it's. not better than mustard. >> We're gonna do Oh, >> I mean, you know, I know that's not what. we're doing here. >> Let's do a double up. >> A double up. >> That's what I'm going to do. I'm going. to do a a tainting double dip. >> How about each I'm not going to do that. I'm going to try and. I use different hands, though. >> Mustard is not needed. Tartar. is the best. >> Not even close. Mustard's better. The next best thing.
