Is Garlic Good In Everything? (Taste Test)

We're putting a bunch of weird garlic dishes to the test. Let's talk about that. Good Mythical Morning. A few months back, we tested how versatile a flavor lavender was by. applying our patented S test. Yes. We tried lavender in a sweet dish, a savory dish, a soda dish, and a seafood dish. It's all starting with S.

It was sometimes delicious, sometimes disgusting, but always informative in our search for the most versatile flavor in the world. So today, our quest continues with four dishes that would send a vampire to their grave. It's time for The Quest For The World's Most Versatile Flavor. Garlic Edition. Okay, fudge pigeons, we're starting out easy with the savory round. Please uncloche your savory garlic dish, taste it, and rate it on a scale of one to ten. You're digging deep now, Stevie.

Okay, I gotta say something. I've been doing some Googling, and since we already know garlic does well in savory dishes, the kitchen went a little. extra garlic. Oh, I can smell it. I can smell it. We're pushing the limits. I like garlic. Your warts are gonna fall off just while you're eating. I don't have any more. I got no more to attack. Just do the garlic. Yeah. I really enjoyed, Rhett, in the intro, you were doing some. hand and arm. movements. That. is pretty new for you. And I really liked you incorporating them.

I liked that notice. Yeah. What? I didn't. I don't have peripheral vision. What was I doing? Did I flip the bird? At one time, you had, like, both arms up to the side. It was a little like. the people at the airport that guide the planes. in. It was nice. It's time that I admitted it. I'm. looking at a second career. Last time we flew, I just saw the guy down there doing it. I was like, I'm tall. Hard to miss.

Big, big hands. Big hands. Anyway, I haven't said yes yet, but I have a couple of good offers. Guys, can I? Can I? Can I talk about this? Got a lot of garlic in it. That's pretty much all I had to say. back to what you said. What's the meat? It's overstuffed with a lot of whole garlic and roasted garlic ricotta, but no meat. Oh, that. That's just garlic? I thought that the meat was garlic. Yeah.

No, I thought that the garlic was meat. And I still loved it. It's good. Yeah. I like it. It's more garlic than I want. I mean, if it was on the menu, what would you call it? Garlic stuffed shells? Yeah. I think that would be a good name for it, Link. Good gracious. They're gonna smell me before I get home tonight. All right, why don't you give your score first? Okay. So. I have the go ahead. You don't have to do anything, except. I didn't know if I should go. No, I'm just.

direct your attention. What does it mean? I don't know. I haven't read the whole manual yet. How am I doing this again? Like, I know it's, on a scale of one to ten. How well did this platform garlic? What am I thinking? Like, pasta and cheese? Yeah. I give it an easy eight. I mean, it's just begging for garlic, all this sauce and pasta. Well, I was going to say eight as well, Link. But you do. And so that gives us an average of.

eight. Our next S category, of course, is. seafood. And just like the savory round, we kicked up the garlic a bit here. Yes, as you should. You know, I've been thinking, in between. the last round and this round. Not a lot of time for that. To get a ten on something that, it's expected. to have garlic, I think it needs to be. irreplaceable.

Like, I cannot eat a seafood dish without garlic. That's what a ten is. So an eight in the last round, there's some pasta you can have without garlic. I can adjust your thinking a little bit and take the pressure off yourself. You're not trying to. determine. which of the four S's garlic sings the most in. You're just trying to give an overall average score of how versatile garlic is. So that ten, if you feel like it really needs to happen,

just let it out. Well, I told you how I'm gonna let it out. Oh, God. That's great. I dropped something. I mean, a lobster roll without lobster, not a good idea. No. Lobster roll without. butter, not a great idea. Nope. A lobster roll without garlic. I feel like I've had it before. Not a good idea, but. I mean, Vee, how much garlic is on this?

Very good. Extra raw garlic. with garlic mayo, some melted garlic butter, and it's on a garlic buttered brioche bun. Oh, God. So much. It hits hard, but again. It's complimentary throughout. It's good. You got that? I think I'm still. I'm going to a nine, Link, you heard it here first. I'm still an eight. For an average of eight and a half. I don't think we would be here if we didn't.

release. Epic Rap Battles on our original Rhett and Link channel back in the day. Where would we be? On a beach in Thailand, eating corn? We might be selling the corn. You know what I'm saying? Which is why we have commemorated that. by. re-releasing. the Epic Rap Battles as a collection of not three songs, but. six songs. For an average of. six. Six. songs. We remix these things to bring them up to twenty twenty-four standards. And the only way to get this thing is to be a Third Degree member.

of the Mythical Society. where we do give away. Well, we don't give them away. Well, you get it. You get it as part of your membership. If you're not already a Third Degree member, you got to join Quarterly or Annual of Third Degree by June. thirtieth to get this thing. And then it comes with your membership. mythicalsociety. com. Listen to it, display it. Collect it. Trade it. Okay. You might see that I am hovering this close. Check this out.

I learned this in a manual. This is the symbol for hovering. We have one of those. planes with engines turned sideways. Oh, you talking about a Harrier jet? Yes. Dangerous. Lots of accidents. Super cool. Super cool. This is when they said, when the Harrier jet comes out, if the Harrier jet is about to come around the corner, this is what I do in the airport. I have never seen one of those people. do that. Oh, yeah, well, because you.

Have you ever seen one of those employees work with a Harrier jet? No. Because they would be doing this. We're leaving the easy rounds behind. Because this S is soda. Oh, God. Soda. And it has a little garlic for your pleasure in there. It's just added. Just a little piece of garlic. It basically turned green. Hey. Oh, look at the particles, Link. I know. It's like. It is thick. It's like a snow globe in there. Why would you want a garlic drink? I don't know if you would.

Maybe as a prank, maybe as a test of. Fortitude? Love. Okay. This is gonna test. If you and your wife had. this on, like, your anniversary, and then you still move forward with the planned activities. That's true love. If you both have garlic. Is it okay? It's cool. It's cool. That's what? It's only if one person has it? Christy and I, we try to coordinate our garlic intake. Here you go.

Hey, hey, hey, kids, come in here and get a drink. from the van. It smells worse than it tastes. Would you not say that? It is sweet. Why are we drinking it again? I gotta give it a real test. Oh, look at what's happening. Do you see what is happening in it? It looks like there's. There's like jelly type things happening. You see it? It's like rotating. Like a different consistency.

It's viscous, Rhett. This is, this is the symbol for rotation. Oh, my. Can you, can you, can you make that out, Nicholas? Yes. Look at that. It's weird. Is it? It's like. Are we making Vaseline? We're making Vaseline. Is this how you make petroleum jelly? We cracked the code. Soda and garlic. More like garlic hair. Garlic hair? You think it's hair? It's, but. Hey, two men just discovered Vaseline.

Don't diminish it. Come on, Vee, let us have our moment. And look, when I shake it. We're gonna be on the news. I mean, look at that. when you shake it. Okay. That's just. I don't want it to get on my clothes. I remember I smelled a French woman's breath one time. It was like that. Oh, the one that, the one that was eating peanuts? The old lady. Oh, the peanut lady. Yes. Oh, gosh, it was awful. Yeah. Look, there she is. And she wanted to talk, buddy. I'll tell you, she wanted to talk.

Get closer. It was like peanuts were pouring out. It was awful. Am I going to have this one? I feel like that is not very generous of you. I feel like it's working a lot better than I thought it would. I'll give it a four. I'll give it a four. I mean, I don't prefer it, but it's so much better than expected. That's an average of two. One and a half. What did we say? What did you say?

I said one and you said four. Two and a half. And now for the final S. Sweet. What? Is this, the ice cream sandwich? Usually I get excited when I see those. It's crazy looking, Vee. Those are not chocolate chips, are they? No, they are not. This is a garlic chipwich. It's a black garlic cookie with homemade garlic ice cream. And the outside of it is pieces of black garlic. Smells all right, actually,

what's black garlic? Is it old garlic? It's the age, super, super slow roasted garlic. And it's in a heated, controlled environment and the process makes the sweetness come out of it. Oh, so it gets sweeter. A lot of times when you have like. a clove of garlic and it's roasted, you can actually just eat that straight up. And it will. I mean, it'll still affect you a lot, but it's way better than just a raw garlic. I do enjoy that at times. And it's mushy. He loves mush. Can't get enough.

Just isolate one of those black. Well, eat it all together. and then isolate one. Because I just isolated one and I'm about to eat it. You're gonna love mush day when we get to the home. Everyday mush day at the home. Exactly. Yellow garlic ice cream. The fact that there is already a culinary process that brings out the sweet.

and garlic that was hidden. Who knew? And was then released. This is released, by the way. Yep. Release the plane. When I want them to open the door and let people down the slide. I do that. You already floating in the ocean. before the emergency landing? It's the tarmac slide. This is good. Dang, there's nothing off-putting about it at all. I mean, this is like. when you get dared to do something stupid and it works out,

and then you think, oh, I'm just. I'm cool. You know, which is pretty much my high school career. You know, everything. went right for me. You were the only one saying, I'm cool. But I really egged myself on. Like, now I'm gonna start eating garlic for dessert because, Vee, you have. Dang. Isolate one of those and tell me, like, describe the consistency. I'm just trying to. Mush. No, it's not mush as much as it's.

Almost jelly. It's like a really hard. but penetrable jelly. It's nice. It's really good. So, you're saying that was regular garlic at some point, and it was slow roasted? Yes. So normally, how you roast a garlic whole. The whole thing, the bulb, you throw it in there in a very low, slow environment. And it turns that color, brings the sweetness up. Turns it black. It's not a black garlic. It's blackened garlic. I feel like, oh, man. I mean.

This is really gonna put it above lavender. Is a ten, like, what a ice cream sandwich with chocolate on it would taste like? I don't know. I'm kind of losing perspective here. I think. that. now that you've had black garlic in a sweet thing, you want it in it. That's true. That's what a ten would do. That's why I can't give it a ten. But, I'm not. I still want an ice cream sandwich that doesn't have black garlic in it. Right, so that's why you can't give it a ten.

That's what I thought you were gonna say. You said something that seemed different. No, I didn't. I said, I'm not giving it. I'm gonna get. Excuse me, sorry. I'm gonna give it. I'm tempted to give it an eight. That seems crazy. I am. I'm giving it an eight. I did it. You tempted me, and I'm doing it. I can't believe it. It's just so much better than I thought it was gonna be. I'm gonna give it an eight. Oh, my gosh. For an average of eight. Yeah. And I didn't do it just so we didn't have to worry about. averaging.

Yeah. Right, because we're great at that. That means that today, overall, garlic averaged out a versatility score of six point seven five. Please log that score into the flavor versatility database, Stevie. So. where does that put us in reference to lavender? I think it's beat it. Well, lavender, if I recall, was a five, which was right in the middle of the road. Six point seven five is higher than a five. It is.

We have a new, versatile flavor on the campus. It's garlic. It's hard to believe. that it did that well. I mean, would you have thought it was gonna work? Well, we didn't know about the black garlic. These cookies, you gotta try them. All right. We'll present this garlic with another flavor challenger a little bit later. Let us know in the comments what you think that should be. I like.
