International Sides Taste Test

What side of the world are these international sides from? Let's talk about that. Good Mythical Morning. Entrees have always taken the main stage, leaving sides in the shadows. Right, like how I really like this side of the desk, and you. really like that side of the desk. And neither one of them are in a shadow.

But that's not what I was talking about. I was talking about dishes, side dishes. Oh. But yes, I do like my side. Hmm. It's time for, Where In The World Do These International Side Dishes Come From? You know how this works. We're gonna be tasting a side dish, and then we're going to be guessing where. it's from by throwing a dart at that map, and then Chase is gonna measure. how far we are from the right answer. That's right. It's me Chase, the aside cartographer.

What Rhett and Link don't know is that I'm gonna be delivering asides throughout this. entire episode and they can't hear them. Um. We, we heard that. Yeah, we did. No, no, you didn't. All right. Let's eat this. Looky there. Wow. Now this smells incredible. We've got some sort of shape here that I. This has gotta be potatoes. What do you call this shape?

Football. I don't know if this is a football. I think this might, oh, well, that's half of it. I'm just gonna put a little of that on there. Wow. Ooh, this, mm-hmm. It's hash browns. It's hash browns with some. Meat. Sour cream. There's meat in the middle. Meat in the middle. No, there's not. You didn't hear me say that. What kind of meat is that? What kind of meat is that? Interesting.

Oh. It's stringy. Well, I believe it's chicken, Link. You won, you won last time. So you're throwing first. Yep. That's almost like. That means that you get the advantage jar this episode. So whenever you want that, let me know. I'll tell you more about it. Yes. Um. I'm always a little offended that Rhett and Link never offer to share their food with me. Chase, if you. We heard that. If you want some. You want some Chase? You could. I'm okay. You want, you want any?

If you want any, you could just ask. I mean, really. Yeah, you're, yeah, you're fine. Okay. That is really good. Did I say that? I'd eat that as a main. Where would I be? Yeah, because was eating that's, it's got the meat in it. Yeah. You really don't need much else. And it's got dill and we love dill. Me and Link Neal love dill. Link Dill Neal, that's what they call me. Yeah. You can subscribe to my newsletter, the Neal Dill. Yeah, it's great. Many, many subscribers.

Well, Link, I'd be willing to bet $4 that this is either. Hungary, Lithuania, or Georgia. And I don't know where dill is really loved, but I think it's probably Hungary. Oh my goodness. I, that's. Okay. That's pretty close, dude. Better than I thought I was gonna be. You may have noticed something's a little different today.

I am using green darts. Yeah, what's up with that? You've been complaining about? I don't know. They there, there's more darts over there and I'm like, these green ones are like. perfect 'cause I've never used them. And the blue ones are all, you know, busted to hell. So you got an advantage. I don't love where you're at 'cause I feel like you're kinda right. Um, I mean it could be Ethiopia. It's not any, I mean it could be New Zealand, but anything New Zealand could,

could be so much of different things. New Zealand could be anything. I'm gonna try to give you a run for your money and I'm gonna split your dart. If I knock your dart off the map while darting my dart, remember, you don't get to put it back. Oh, I'll remember it. Isn't that the rule? That's never happened. It's never happened. But if it does, yes. I'm gonna try to make that happen. I get an automatic 50 if you knock my dart out. Ooh.

You got scared for a second. You're closer to every answer. Yes. You just ate. Žemaičių blynai, AKA Samogitian. pancakes. You might think these have been around forever, but they've actually only been. around in this country for about 50 years. Hold on. It's got eggs. Hold on. Uh, Chase, uh, just, did you just lip sync the answer to this? No. You're so, he's so squirrely today.

Yeah, why? It certainly didn't seem natural. Fine. Go on. Yeah, I'm working on just how I'm delivering, but I, I'll work on it. I did like it. It was very crisp. Yes. Thank you. It's got eggs, salt, and potatoes, and can be found in Lithuania. Oh, okay. Now, you just said Lithuania. I always say Lithuania. Lithuania. Is it different? Well, I mean there was no, like, he didn't lip sync. He didn't lip sync, he just said it.

Maybe he will have an aside about that. Lithuania. Rhett, you had 10. Link, 8. Yes. Big old lead for the Linkster. Two whole centimeters. Well, almost the smallest lead you could have, actually. We got a orange side over here. I recognize everything except whatever this is. The orange part. And is that chicken, olives, and eggs?

Wow, that is, um. Not rice. No, what is it? So weird. Carrots? Yeah. It, it's, it's, uh, damp. It's a damp orange side. But seriously, what is it? Very spiced, but not spicy. What is this? I don't know, dude. It's so strange. Is this chicken or tuna in the middle? Hmm. Chicken of the land.

Tuna of the land. Tuna of the land. Yeah, that's what I wanna say. I think that is tuna. Tuna. I think it's chicken of the sea. Tuna, tuna of the sea. I wanna say all of that. I did. Um, well you're up first, brother. You're in the lead. This is like, I have no idea what it is. It's, it's fermented.

It looks like fish, but it doesn't taste like fish. There's a little bit spicy. It's some sort of vegetable. Carrot, spicy carrot. I don't think it's a carrot. It's, or it might be fermented carrots like a, it's like a carrot kimchi. I've never seen it before. Which leads me to, I guess the Philippines is my best option for like a, I don't know. You got like, kimchi is more Korean, so the olives, I don't know about those.

Hmm. They can be anywhere. Okay. I'm gonna fly this, I'm gonna pilot it right over there to Philippines. You gonna feel the peens? Yes, I am. I am feeling the peens. Thank you. But I might hedge a little bit towards India. Oop, but that was way towards India. That's okay, Link. It's very aggressive.

That's okay. Yeah. You want to throw through the board. I, uh, I mean, I just, I've never seen, maybe I'm wrong. I've never seen an Asian dish with black olives in it. Ever. Am I wrong about that? It's fermented though, right? Like black olives. I just feel like I need to get as close to Italy as I possibly can, and that. would once again be Hungary, which is not what it was the first time.

You keep going for Hungary. Ooh, it's a little low. Okay. You've just had Omek Houria, which, you guessed it, translates to Mother Nymph. Yeah, I was gonna say that. It's made with carrots, harissa, garlic, vinegar, olive oil, and. tuna, and can be found in Tunisia. Oh, Rhett, you hit the word Tunisia. I did, does that count?

Man. No, it doesn't count. Oh, it should count for something. You're so close, dude. It really doesn't count. Link, you had 20. Rhett, 5. Ooh. Ooh, that's close. Should have known, it had the word tuna in it. Yep. What is this? It's a big plate of dough. What. Is it just straight dough? No. Is it. Hold on. Is this. sustained cheese?

Hold on. Is it? I don't know, man. Is this what it is? Oh my gosh. Look at that. Oh, that looks good. You want some? Oh, no. Yeah, I think we've got a. You want some. Kind of. Oh, there it is. You got it. Hmm. Hmm. It's. That's a side? It's like, not just cheese. It's, it's so stringy.

What is it? Is it dough? Um, it, it, it's not as tasty as. I think they forgot to cook it. It's like raw and kind of tasteless. Is it not? Yeah, it's not great. All right. You've really pulled out ahead, so. It is not great, Link. Give me some info. It doesn't taste bad and I like things that aren't cooked, so I'm for it. Is this some kind of cheese that I don't know about, that is like, in Ethiopia?

Hmm. I was on Broadway once. I filled in for Daniel Radcliffe when he was doing Equus. That's a lie. There's no way that's true. It's a lie. There's no way that's true. He doesn't think we can hear him, and he's just lying away to the people. We would know. Don't believe that. We would know about that. Okay, um. Excuse me, Chase, uh. Oh, sorry. I mean, I'd love to hear another lie from you, but, uh,

okay. This is not Mexico. 'cause I feel like we would see this here. India has a lot of interesting cheese, but usually it's that, that, uh, is it sog or is it, uh. Be still, be still. There's a, there's like carrot in your beard. Oh, thank you. I got it. Um. That's very kind. Also, something in your, in the corner of your eye. Just kidding. Ethiopia. Crap, dude.

That's a good guess. Oh. I'm on it today. Ethiopia, that what they'll do is they put a big thing on the table and everybody. eats with their fingers off of the stuff. It does feel like a hand food. And if you're, if you're good with that, culturally. Yeah. And you should be. Do I have something on my face? You, I saw you looking. Well no, there's just some hairs that are a little bit longer than others. Oh,

I'm sorry. What was I saying? Oh, then I think they would, um. So you're gonna guess, guess me? I'm a out throw you because I feel so confident that it's Ethiopia. Okay. Alright. I'm pretty close. Okay. Gotta get closer. With the big greenie. Oh. Oh. Went a little low. A little bit low at the last second. It's almost like it was flying towards it, and then it just dropped. Yes, it did. Gravity. Like a slider. Gravity.

You just had Elarji. It's a thick porridge made of cornmeal, corn flour, and Sulguni cheese. Legends say that mountain shepherds created it in. Georgia. Oh. Oh my gosh. Georgia. I was born there. Your, not that one. Oh, not that one. Link, 20. Rhett, 9. I'll take it. And I don't think this shirt's been laundered in a long time. Sorry, I, the smell of the shirt was really coming through.

Shirt wasn't laundered. Oh. In a long time. Okay. Yeah. I can hear everything he's saying. Chase's shirt wasn't laundered. Check out this can glass. It's a glass that's shaped like a can. And we sell it. It has an important message on it. In a world where people are always asserting things that they don't know. anything about on all types of platforms. Hmm. I think it's nice to have a message that I don't really know some things.

Get yours at Mythical.com. Drink out of it, and also wear it on a shirt. Drink milk out of it. It's okay to not know some things. And it's okay to drink milk. Yep. Let's bring that dish in. This side looks like a main. I mean, it's got a sliced meat on it. Yes. That looks like black beans under there, buddy. What do we have, is this sausage? Okay, so this is, this is probably a black bean.

Mm-hmm. Ooh, it's nice. Got a nice flavor. Hmm? You got the egg, you've got the onion and the green onions as well as the white, and then. What are you thinking? Hmm? What is that sausage? Well, it's pink inside. Yeah, but what is it? You don't think it's pork?

I'm pretty sure it's pork. There's a porkiness. There's another seasoning in it. The beans themselves are, uh, refreshingly different than what I would expect. Okay. Well, I'm going first. And I'm using my advantage dart. What is that? All right, Link. You get the Dice-Sider Dart, you're gonna get to roll this dice and. whatever it lands on, that's how many darts you get to use for this round.

Oh, which is why. Holy moly, that's not fair. I have green and blue darts. Does he do them one at a time or altogether? I would prefer one at a time, but you know, it's hard to control Link. I like 'em one at a time, yeah. Alright. Okay. You first. Alright, Link. You definitely have a chance of winning at this point. Mm-hmm. With that many darts I'm, okay, the sausage of it all and the black beans of it all. are sending me to Brazil, uh, because it's pretty, it's meaty, but it's black beanie.

So I'm gonna make a hard guess here and I'm, I'm not gonna chump out. and go to the middle of the board. I'm going for South America, 'cause that's what I feel it is. Is that where you were gonna go? Nope. Yes. Oh, I love that he's so low. Pretty low, pretty low. Okay, how many darts do I get? One. Yes, yes.

Yes. Is this thing, I mean, I just want to know, is it rigged? No. Is it weighted? It's funny, because, it could have been on anything, but, but one. Is that good, Chase? Anything would've been better. That's amazing. Okay. That was fun. All right, so. Mostly for me.

I am 24 centimeters down. That's exactly what we were hoping would happen. Show me, show me 24 centimeters. Okay. If it's in South America. I'm toast. You're toast. If it's anything else, you can win. Yep, so. South America's not gonna do it, uh. All right, maybe this. is, um.

Uh, Eastern Europe. I'm hoping for something like this. Whoop. Say daisy, way over there. I think that was as good of a throw as you could have done. Yeah. Thank you. I'm capable of more, I thought, but. You just had Tutu de feijão, a pureed bean dish that translates to pureed bean. It's made with onion, garlic flour, and topped with ingredients. like hard-boiled eggs, bacon and sliced sausage, and is found in.

Brazil. Yeah. Dookie head. Woo. Man, you're such a loser winner. What? What? I'm about to tell the guys, but this was a blowout. Rhett, you had 5. Link, 36. Oh. Alright, so I lose. You do lose, which means that you have to deliver the outro and.

the wheel, lying on your side. What? Oh. Like, like on the desk. What? Why? That's what the loser has to do. Yeah. Because it's a side thing. Yeah, yeah. Oh yeah. Yeah. You're off on your side. I forgot we were... Watch out for the milk. Watch yourself. Watch yourself. There's a knife here. Okay. Watch yourself, watch yourself. Thanks for commenting and sharing this video. Any number, okay. Between, between 1 and 10. Okay. Okay. 3, 2, 1. 7, 7. Yes. We both said seven. Yeah. Mine sounded kinda like w-seven, but that's okay. What number starts with a W? One. Oh, okay.
