International Fish Dish Taste Test

We're trying fish from around the world. Let's talk about that. [Funky intro music]. Good Mythical Summer. You know the saying, give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man a fish. Feed him for life. But we got a new saying that goes, feed two men. a fish, and watch them throw darts at a map. Teach those men where the fish come from for life. It's not as catchy. No, but it is accurate.

It's time for where in the world do these international. fish dishes come from? Okay, boys. Today you'll be trying different fish dishes from. all over the globe, then guessing where they're from. by throwing your darts at the map. Chase, the under sea. cartographer will be measuring your jarts to determine points. You under water right now? [muffled sounds]. Oh. Yeah. Oh. Oh. Don't do that. People don't like it when you can't understand. what we're saying. Oh, sorry. I said I'm really resisting the urge to pee right now. Yeah. Oh no.

Warm yourself up? We, we won't know it. We won't know. You won't, you don't think you'll be able to tell? We won't know. No. Try it. Okay. I can tell. I'm telling that you are peeing. Keep doing that though. It feels good. This time around, you'll be competing to add a wave. of cash to your charity pot. We're talking $2,500 per round. What? Per round. No. Yeah baby. That's a lot of money. And Link won last time. So he's gonna throw first, Rhett.

That means you get an advantage and yes, we are. bringing back advantages that are advantages. So $2,500 per round. So winning the whole thing doesn't even really matter. It doesn't really matter. Well, the more you win, the more you get. I got scared. That might be a different strategy when I knew. that we were eating all these fish dishes, but. this one looks excellent. There's, mm-hmm. hmm. It's a white fish, which I'm fond of.

What is this? A potato of type. It looks like a big tater in some sort of nonspicy. but flavorful. slurry. Mm. These are quite good. So good. Some cilantro. I'm trying to figure out... Cilantro! What's in it. I wouldn't, and you know, I thought it might've been. a curry, but it's not.

Hmm, that's good. I'm gonna take note of that. And do what with it? What are you gonna do with that note? I'm, I'm gonna bake one of those. Okay. Alright. Alright. Honduras, Chile, Falkland Islands, Senegal. Morocco. The color of the sauce takes me to Morocco, but it's. just not as, don't, don't breathe that hard when I'm. thinking. I'm, I'm sorry.

I'm so sorry. Just hold your breath. Yeah. Hold your breath the whole time. Keep peeing though. You can pee all you want. I don't know. It's, it could be, I'm gonna stick to my gut. Senegal. No, Morocco. Do do that while he is going up. Do you want him to dodoo? I, I want, I want him to dodoo, next round, doodoo in there. Doodoo in it. Man. Nobody all know.

When's the last time you said doodoo? Oh, that's what we call it at my house. You say doodoo while? Yeah. I gotta take a doodoo. Hold on. All right. Hold on. And then what? All right, Morocco. Hold on, I'm coming back. Woo. That's close. All right. Dang it. I really was hoping that you wouldn't say Morocco, because. that's what I wanted to say. It's a Moroccan color, but wouldn't you expect. it to have a little bit more spicealicious? Not necessarily. I mean, I, you know, when you go to like an African. restaurant in this town, it's usually Ethiopia, which is on. the other side of, of Africa.

Um, you could hit Senegal. But this is like, um, I might even call this a tilapia. I don't know. I might. I don't normally see the skin on a tilapia. Um, it's a cheaper fish. And this is not a potato, it's potato, like it's a. tuber of sorts, is what we would call that in my house, I would say. Because of the color? I, I used to say. I gotta go dodoo now I say I gotta go do a tuber of sorts.

Gross. Gross. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that. I should not have said that. You know, there's plenty of shows that. don't do poop humor. Yep. Mm-hmm. And a lot of people stop watching us a long time. ago because we do. Do. Okay. So, uh, Senegal is a good guess as well. Maybe I just try to, to get a little bit of a. lead, if that happens, to be the right answer.

'cause I definitely feel like it's an African country. Oh gosh, I can't throw anywhere. Can't throw anywhere. I threw to the right. Was that latitude? You just had a white fish soup that also contains coconut. milk, bananas and plantains. What? It's known as tapado de pescado. Oh, and is a popular beach food and it's native. country of Honduras. Hold on.

I was, I thought these looked like plantains, but then they didn't taste like plantains at all. Hmm. They tasted like tubers. Yeah, but I can tell by looking at it, if I, forgive me. It still doesn't taste like a banana, even when I eat it this time. But we should have known that. 'cause look at it, if I suck the sauce off of it. I thought it was when I looked at it, but then I tasted it. Doodoo. All right, Rhett, you had 30. Link,

31. Ohhoho! 2,500. We tied, almost. But it doesn't matter. One centimeter gives me 2,500 bucks. Dang, son, I forgot about that. I'm telling you. It's crazy. Woo. We got--. Lemmie lemon ya. You open face fish. This is a little fish. Catch. Look at, look at the little fin. Maybe that's, this is flounderish.

Garlicy. So all of that on the bottom is just like, um, the outside of the fish. There's bones in there, but you can eat 'em. That's what they said. Mm-hmm. That's what she said. Hey man, you bringing it today. You didn't bring the doodoo today, man. Yeah, I brought the good stuff. You brought the tuber. Hmm. Sorry, I'm not bringing it today. I still don't like eating those bones 'cause I feel.

like they're gonna be down there poking at my inners. No, your body's gonna take them and turn 'em into things. Hmm. That's good. There's like a oiliness, maybe that's from the fish. Maybe it's from something added to it. But there's a, uh, a mixture of good little things on top. Y'all are two for two, winning me over with. the fish dishes. Rhett, you're first, one centimeter $2,500.

When's the last time you saw that anywhere? I was pretty shore you weren't gonna like any of these. Oh, what kind of fish is this? I really like that. I don't know what kind of fish it is. Okay. Um, Honduras was the last guess. I go for it again. I, I taste something that brings me to Chile. Here's the thing about Chile. I don't know the history of it, but Argentina's.

gotta be upset. You get, they got the whole coast coastline. Yeah. They got like the best part of it. Well, what does that feel like? Can you imagine if we, that may be other good parts if. we're here in California and then like South Carolina, which wouldn't make sense. I, I realize if they had the whole coast, it would, what would we do is I gotta go to South Carolina every. time I wanna go to the beach. Cross the border. I don't want that. I guess it would be called West Carolina.

Maybe they get all the beach parking fees in Argentina. and then you walk to Chile. So being online would be really strategic. 'cause I might be able to actually hit the country. Woo. I almost hit the Falklands. Is what you taste, I, I I feel like it's chimichurri. I was gonna say that, but I didn't say it because I. thought that might, this stuff might give you an. unnecessary hint here. And I know they like chimichurri in Argentina. I love chimichurri. It's good on a steak. I just ate a very specifically hot part.

of it, unintentionally, but he's gotta be right. So I just have to get closer. I'm not that close to the, to the, the bullseye of Chile. So the door's wide open, my friend. You don't measure to the bullseye though. Yeah, he does. Do you? Uhhuh. Oh, if you miss the country, he measures from the bullseye. Okay. Copy that. But if you hit any of, oh my gosh, you're closer for sure. I'm closer to that bullseye. You're closer to every single country other than. the Falkland Islands, which would be my only. hope at this point.

Man, if it's Falkland Islands. I'm gonna be so disappointed in us missing our one chance. You just had stuffed and fried sardines, fish filets. that have been butterflied and topped with a marinade. of herbs and spices. It's a unique dish. Also known as married sardines in.... Morocco. No, Morocco. Well, you're still closer, I think. Yeah, but Rhett, you had 33. Link.

30. Ho, ho, ho. Three centimeters, $2,500. Where else have you seen that? That's good. Good question. Four minutes ago. Good question. This T-shirt is the B with two E's, your Mythical. best gardening tee. And this is cool. This thing doesn't just come with a t-shirt, it. comes with a seed packet. Look at that. So you can plant some flowers because. A hundred seeds in here chosen by us. Okay.

When you get this thing, a portion of the proceeds from. every sale will benefit the Bee Conservancy and their. mission to save the bees. The bees are important, y'all. We gotta have them bee's. Handpicked this custom blend features a mix of. California and North Carolina Wild Flowers a tribute to. the places that we call home. So do a good thing for the bees and get that. you wanna plant them? And that, oh yeah, we, yeah. Yeah. I mean, I mean, I wanna plant these. That way we can grow 'em too.

There's a hundred seeds that just came out. I don't know if Oh, there there are. They're all down there. Yeah. Yeah, there are. Yeah, there are. There are a hundred. Spread 'em in a sunny place. Cover 'em up, water 'em till they sprout. Pretty simple. And you'll think of us as you make these. little flower babies. mythical.com. We love you bees. All right. Okay. Bring this fish dish in. We got more cilantro on top.

Don't get any of the dirt that I got on my desk. Okay. Part on you. Oh, what is that? This is full of, Oh, wow. Stuff that is like a, is that a pineapple? And what is that? Like a chunk. So there's a, there's fish in it. There's a chunky piece of fish. Imma eat it with the pineapple. And then is this, oh, that's a tomato. I don't think I want that.

Link. Um, you win the last round, which I guess is. how we're gonna do this. You're also up. It doesn't matter. You go first. It's a little spicy. It's, it's, it's, um, it's acidic, uh, from the pineapples. That's good. And then what is this weird fruit? Yeah, that is, that is wild. What? Yeah. It's a hole-y fruit. Wow. Is it a fruit or is it a piece of coral?

It is sour. But that's the, that's the, uh, it's got a great texture. It's strange. It's like a stalk that's been cut. Yeah, there's some kind of plant. You're up, buddy ro. Well, I'm thinking it could be Vietnam. I just think it could, but it's, but pineapple though. No pineapple. We need to be going.

It's, it's not that spicy. I'm gonna stick with my gut again. It was wrong the first time, which meant that I would. normally switch away from it. Hmm. But you're telling me no. Stick with it. And I am Vietnam and I'm not holding back. Maybe I'll go a little west of it. Oh, I didn't, what you thinking homie? Speak freely. I'm 100% sure it's either Thailand or Vietnam. Well, let's say 90, because let's say 99% short because.

of the way it tastes. I mean, it's sour. Uh, yeah, I guess the sour, the sour soup in Thailand, it has Thai chilies in it. That's literally a Thai chili. Oh, which is one of my favorite. Didn't see that. Peppers. It's got a water chestnut. I mean, it could be, I guess this could be in South Korea. But here's, here's the thing. I'm not, I can't throw, I don't know. what happened to me. between birth and now at some point. I did not develop the ability to accurately.

throw, uh, darts. You didn't throw a very good throw, but you threw about. as close as I usually get. I was throwing a Vietnam, it's a pretty good throw. I hit the, I hit the word. I'm just saying you've been closer than that. Like I've been way off target. Okay. What I'm getting at and I, what I'm not saying is. that I have a cheat and I can throw a bunch of fish. at the board and I can like guarantee that I'm closer. I'm gonna cheat. I'm gonna use it. I'm gonna use it. Bring in the fish stew.

It's behind you. Oh, wow. I, it looks like black bean sauce. Okay. Well, I could have a situation that Link had, depending on. the consistency of this stuff. Yeah. I'm getting outta here. But it could completely, it could completely miss. I'm gonna get my chair outta here too. Okay. I'm gonna get my, my. Body away from this.

Oh, I'm not gonna make a, don't make a do do joke. What is that? Don't make a do do joke. Don't make a do do joke. Don't make a do do joke. Don't make a dodo joke. Oh gosh. All over the poop deck. Oh, okay. I'm right here. But that is probably. Oh, this is gonna be so close. That's gonna be for Chase to determine that. Sit down. That's so close. Chase. That's Chase's job. Job. If it's Thailand, I think I win. Get over there. If it's Thailand, I think I win. But if it's Vietnam, I think Link does.

Oh, I don't know. Oh God. Ew, it's down here too. Oh, ugh. Yeah. Poop joke. Insert poop joke, Dodo joke, as we should say, poop deck. You just had sweet and sour fish soup or conica. A dish that uses pineapple, taro, onion, and tamarind.

to provide the tangy sweet flavor that makes it a popular. choice in its home country of. Vietnam. It's gonna be, it's, yeah, it's gonna be. close, but I think you're like a centimeter two. Did I be two in on the slingy? All right, so there's this little piece. of poop right there. That's five. And then there's your dart here, which is also five. Oh, dang it. We splitsies. That's okay. Yeah. Hold on. But 20, 2500 doesn't split even.

I think it does. Well, what are the chances, has that ever happened? Has that ever happened? Yeah, that's a good point. We should be celebrating. Uh, but since neither one of us won, we don't feel like it. Yeah. Right. What do we have here? A smorgasbord of.... Piles and of things. This feels like a sausage, I assume it's a fish. sausage, a fish sausage.

It smells very fishy. And what is this? And if you dip it in that, and. So the um, texture is very difficult for me. That is not. That's not my favorite thing I've ever had. That's how I try to be polite. when I don't like something. It doesn't taste like it's fish meat. It's not my favorite. It's not the flesh of the fish. I think it's the smush, innards, gelatinous other.

parts of the fish, and I'm not gonna elect to continue. to eat that, and I'm gonna eat a cucumber to make me forget. That's a vinegar cucumber that tastes like. That's ginger and this is soy sauce. So I mean, that's a clue, right? That's a clue. Yeah. Yeah. This is not, this is not something I. want to go back to. Um, eugh, you're, uh, I guess if you had have told. us that if three rounds of each round being worth.

$2,500, that we would be tied. Hmm. We would've said, no, that's incorrect. You don't know how to do math. You can't do it. Can't split it that way. Somehow we found a way. We found a way to be so close. Oh, I'm looking at you. South Korea. Way over there on the far east, eastern side. of the map as it's drawn. Of course, we know that there is no eastern.

end of the world. Well, I don't know. Have you been on the internet recently? No, I think there might be, I pride myself on. having not done that. I've been, I've been really convinced by some people, ginger, soy sauce could be thai land. Mm-hmm. Which is still on the board. That's gotta be it. I mean, I'm just, I just want to be clear. There's nothing else it could be. Right. Alright, here I go. Hold on.

This is the bonus round. Yeah, I was gonna see how long it took you, but it doesn't. really matter because you're going towards Asia regardless. Exactly. Hold on, hold on, hold on. It matters more than that. I mean, you don't get another one. You don't get another one. You don't get another one. You, you think just 'cause I did that, I, it didn't matter. It was like you, once you knew it was a mystery round, you just went haywire. You should do it too. It was fun. No, I wanna win that money.

Um, it's not that I don't wanna win the money. I thought that would be just as accurate. Well. I don't. Let a little faith in the door. Here's the thing, this cucumber, this sauce, and. this ginger, and also the bowl nature, like everything's in. a little bowl, makes me feel like it's Korea, but South. Korea is already up there. It is some, it's gotta be somewhere in Asia and. it's gotta be somewhere east of your dart. I bet it's Japan. No, I know that. There's no actual east, is that what you said? What did you say? Yeah, there's no actual east, you don't have.

to repeat things. I said they got it. Um, but the, but I was getting it wrong 'cause there I can. go east of your dart East is the point of reference. You should go for Japan. Um, okay. Oh, okay. Okay. You just had monk fish liver. Oh, we did. You were. You were right. It was innards. It's served with Roshi yuzu, soy sauce and pickles.

It's called Ankimo and is considered a highly. prized delicacy in Japan. I told you I was right and I was right. I think I should get some money for my charity. No, you got plenty of money for your charity today. All right. Rhett, you had seven, Link, you had a lot more than that. Yeah. 25. Yeah. I don't know what happened last round, but we're both. walking away with money.

Fin. Well, we're. Good work Rhett. Good work Link. We did. Thanks for commenting and sharing this video. You know what time it is.
