How Men Tip Waitresses
there's a choice waitresses can make to. get bigger tips from men let's talk. about that hi I'm Louisa from Calgary. Alberta Good Mythical. [Music]. Morning Good Mythical Morning today's. episode is brought to you by SM makers. of the magic piano app there's no better. way to play Play Moves Like Jagger on.

Good Mythical Morning with you is that. what you just prescribed yeah I think. we'll have an invite your Nemesis day. next week we'll start that maybe next. Wednesday invite your Nemesis. reconciliation I like to dine out me too. it's one of my favorite things to do. dine out I um I uh recently what do you. want to do well I really want to dine. out I usually say dine out I say it that. way too let's dine out I say I.
I recently started trying to do a budget. I've never really been doing a budget. been married for a long time and we sore. subject never done a budget yeah but is. that but when we start sort of looking. at our budget we realize that my wife. and I both enjoy the trip to the. restaurant you know we like she's an. amazing cook she makes amazing meals we. eat most meals at home but we really. like the dining out. experience but it comes with the price. not only do you have to pay for the food. yeah it's called the price I mean it's. yeah usually on the menu but you're not.
just playing for paying for the food. you're paying for the preparation of the. food you're paying the rent of the. building you're paying the decor you're. paying for all that that's how the. restaurant makes its money link you. understand this you know economics right. you take a class I think it would be. cool if they like charged admission to. the restaurant separate from the meal. and then it would kind of divide it up. and you would feel like you were getting. a deal that's called a buffet son you. get it's all you can eat you just you. first of all don't don't call me.
son and second of all that's not what it. is you pay $8 and then you eat it's. admission to eat all you want it's a. cover that's not what I'm suggesting a. cover charge and then you sit down at. your table and the menu still has prices. for the food but it's much cheaper. that's called a club. son and then don't call me and then the. then the tip is is already included well. that's because that that's the whole. other thing well that's what I was. getting at is in addition to paying for. all the things like the buffet and the. emission price to the restaurant the.
door the door price you can call me son. if I can have your inheritance is that a. deal sure okay and um but you have to. pay a tip now I know that this is It's a. pretty Universal thing uh but I know. that it varies from country to Country I. I know that typically here in the United. States that around 15 to 20% is sort of. the expected tip and if you go to a. restaurant and they they take the full. tip automatically it's like 18%. automatic cuz most people will do a.
little bit less than that but 15 20%. that's kind of what is expected yeah now. a study has been done another study. study we love. studies and this study says that there. is a particular choice that women. waitresses I'm going to say waitress I. think that's probably incorrect. Politically Incorrect but whatever. that's a woman who's a wait a waiter. okay waitress can make get better better. better tips by making one choice and. that is by wearing. red are you trying to get better tips.
from me no I wasn't aware of a tipping. system involved in this son in their. stud in their study of 272 restaurant. customers these two researchers with. weird French names that I can't. pronounce so just waitresses this. doesn't have to do with waiters or can. they wear red too well first of all they. found that first of all men tip more. than. women on average but I think more. servers happen to be women anyway I. there's some other factors that are not.
it's just the way it is men tip more. than women they found that we're not. saying anything but then they found that. not only did the male patrons give. higher tips than female patrons in. general but that men gave between 14.6%. and. 26.1% more to waitresses wearing red. while color had no effect on female. patrons tipping behavior at all so you. can wear whatever color you want a. woman's going to tip you waitress the. same but a man is going to tip a. waitress more if she's wearing red and.
the theory is is that red increases the. physical attractiveness of women I I. just I right off the bat I'm just no. longer with this thing I you know I. can't recall the last time I saw a lady. in red and thought I'm substantially. more attracted to her because she's. wearing red well just because this. happens in your in psyche yeah this is a. I don't find myself attracted to women. wearing red as a matter of fact red lip. Li stick is kind it's kind of a turn off.
we're not talking about red lipstick it. didn't say they needed like the Joker to. get better tips it said they need to. have be wearing red and I think that. they're on to something here now I'm. going to take myself first of all I like. you're attracted to red wearing women I. like first of all I've been married for. a long time so I am only attracted to my. wife wearing red and I enjoy it when. she's wearing red but I'm going to go. back to my single days when I made. decisions. about tipping women when okay based on. I'm going back to the I'm going back to. the safe days okay and I can I will say.
that as a man. that it could have been subconsciously. or it could have been just. purposefully when I felt that there was. something happening between me and the. waitress not like oh this is going to. end with me asking her out or this is. going to end with me getting her number. or say what time did you get off not. that kind of thing right but I notice. that when I felt a personal connection. and this is the thing about men and. women you probably already know this but. anything from a woman any signal from a.
woman uh a man interprets it as oh she's. she's in me not a signal any positive. interaction between a man and a woman a. man is going to interpret that as she's. yeah she must be attracted to me and the. best waitresses are the ones who flirt. with men okay when the waitresses make. that man he he might be 42 years old. completely bald and have a huge beard. belly what's wrong with any of that. right I'm just saying that's not. universally considered a track.
I'm saying when she calls him honey you. doing okay honey and she comes by and. she says he things you want another you. want another raspberry waffle you want. another biscuit honey when she starts. talking to him like that he's like H 20%. 25 26 27 28 29 he begins to interpret. this as she is attracted to me she is. glad that I'm here of course I agree. with all that and he giv tips wearing. red doesn't play the yes it does red is. cons when a woman wants to look good she.
puts on red okay think about it is just. not you seriously like if you if if a. model wants to look sensual is she gonna. put. on pink or. red red it's just go goes back to our. ancestors and the way that we. interpreted things I don't know what it. is exactly I'm not going into the. science that deep but I'm saying it's. print proven I love that you're. personally offended by me not being. attracted to women wearing red you don't. think red is a more attractive color no.
are you sure you're a man uh yes very. sure 100% positive son so so listen I I. think that this is so how do you tip now. let's just move on how do you tip now. okay so first of all I am validating the. fact that if there's this connection and. if the apparel makes the connection. stronger men are going to tip more now I. will say that now I and I would I go. back to my early days I've always given. 20% almost always completely no matter.
what color they wear irrespective of. color and I hate to admit this but. irrespective of the level of service I I. don't have a tip meter it isn't like oh. you're bad I'm G to go down oh you're. being really good I'm G to go up I just. eat my meal and if I'm not completely. offended or something horrible happens I. just say I look down at the bill and if. it's 50 bucks I say okay 10% of 50 is 5. time 2 is1 $10 tip you know I I just I. do the math I round it to the nearest. thing and I just and I don't get the. calculator out and stuff you know I just. just say okay it's $65 okay $12 tip you.
know I just kind of do the math like. that just sort of approximate a 20% tip. and so but you're losing you know the. power is in the purchaser at that point. to help educate this waiter or waitress. agree I'm just giving you my philosopy. you're relinquishing your power of the. tip there I mean it's you know it's it's. like having a sword that you. just slap on the table but how often is. the you got to wield The Sword and say. ha at you you you were not in my way but.
I always had water when I wanted it and. it had lemon that's a waiter thing. though but if there's a hair in the food. or if the food wasn't cooked properly. that's you can't blame the waiter for. that or the waiters for that that you're. not even but I'm just encouraging you to. engage in the power that is at your. disposal for the service I would say the. one thing that potentially makes my tip. go up if it's going to get into the 22. 23 24 25% range is if I've had a. personal connction. like we talked about where we're from.
and there's some connection and all of a. sudden I feel like I'm oh this is a. friend and now I'm responsible for their. wellbeing like a personal connection. that's interesting because for me uh my. tip is at 20% and then it it can very. easily go down but it takes a lot for it. to go up the only way it goes up is. something extraordinary happens but it's. not making a connection with the waiter. or waitress like oh now I know where. you're from or boy he was really nice or. she was really nice instead it's I had. everything I wanted a moment before I.
asked for it and I never noticed that. they were there I like never noticing. that they were there just kind of. slipped oh look it my water's full I. didn't even know it I don't I don't. order beverages I just drink water. because ninja waiters like ninja waiters. ninja the ninj of the waitress a waiter. is the only thing that's going to take. me above a 20% and what makes it go down. and how often does it go down it goes. down if like if I ask for something and. then I'm waiting for it waiting for it. waiting this is every time you go out to. eat your the tip the tip meter is on no. I mean it has to really go down but it.
it'll be 20 and then it'll I could. probably go to a 15 but I'm actually not. going to go down until it's like to a. tent if they do something that. disappoint me enough like gosh I'm. parched Where's My. Water I ask for a lemon and there's no. lemon this water tastes like crap. without a lemon how many times do I have. to ask for a lemon if I asked twice I. could give him 15 I'm probably still. going to give him 20 but then if I ask. three times for The Lemon or for the. water or I'm parched or it's a it's a.
desert type situation at my table then. I'm boom I'm going to the 10 okay how do. you tip what do you base your tip on. what's the percentage that you use and. men out there if a waitress is wearing. red do you think you tip more first of. all you probably do because it's not. something you would acknowledge but I. think it happens doesn't happen to. link is W but he's really into. Buffet he likes to pay admission.
nobody here just you and me St the same. claim we're two pioneers and we've come. up on a claim and oh I've been going out. west and I'm going to blaze a trail and. this is my spot and here it goes y oh oh. hi who are you I thought I saw you a. couple miles back were you the one in. the covered wagon yeah you were the one. in the other covered wagon well I didn't. know it was you because it was covered. you got three horses did you never I.
won't even ask about that listen three. what uh I've had me and my woman have. had my our eyes on this this here claim. here and listen this is Wyoming I mean. look look at me and my woman look she's. wearing blue and look how attractive she. is she has a connection with me she. cares not for you or your steak to. disclaim it's mine I'm take me and my. blue wearing woman have Ste claim to. this milliseconds before you did do you. want to play mercy to settle this no. I'm not good at that do you want to have.
a staring. contest no ain't good at that either. well let's have a tip. off. [Music]. basketball.
