Extreme Impulse Buying
There are certain things in life that, when I see them, - I find them completely irresistible. - And I don't. Hi, I'm Tara. I'm from Niagara Falls, Canada. But I think the question is, what does this say about you, Rhett? But let's table that question. - Okay. - Because I represent probably the. complete opposite extreme. When I see an advertisement, something happens. in my mind, I think. It's not... well, I've just observed it in retrospect. I think that there's almost a rebellion to advertisements, that it's like,
if I see-- Oh, I'm being advertised to! I'm not gonna buy that because I don't. need it. I'd like to think... I don't know that this is true, but I would like to. think that I'm so much the master of my own domain that I'm only influenced. by things which I allow to be influenced by. I feel like they're just tricking me into getting something more expensive that's. - just been repackaged. - Yeah. Like, you know, everything at Taco Bell is the same ingredients, they just repackage. it and charge a little bit more. I'm just gonna get the other thing that I really. like, you know? Cowboys need more jalapeños than this! Any cowboy knows. that he needs at least eight jalapeño slices on this thing." And it doesn't look. like the picture. It doesn't taste like I thought the picture would taste. Because. all advertising is a-- in some ways can be, usually is-- a promise that you're. gonna receive something. And then when you get it, it's... it's kind that way.

In it being better. - than anything you've ever had? - I think it just means I like to eat. - and I'm impulsive. - Okay, well you can wrestle with that. on your own time. I might admit that, you know, there's a level of pride involved in. me making my suggestions as well as me being frugal. Let's just put it that way.

Well, pardner, when I said "bed down" I wasn't talkin' about me and you. Uh, by the way, you got that burger I was talkin' about? The one I saw back there. on that sign in Kalamazoo? You know, the one with the jalapeños? - No, I only eat beans. I only eat beans. - I might need to find a new partner. I sound nothing like John Wayne. I sound like Jeff Goldblum, somehow. Cowboy Jeff Goldblum. We wish you a good day, ma'am. I take back what I said about putting our sleeping bags together. I appreciate that.
