Domino's vs. Papa John's | Food Feuds
We're pitting Domino's against Papa John's again. Let's talk about that. ((Intro Music)). Good. Mythical Morning! At the end of last year, we started a food feud between. Domino's and Papa John's, but there were just too. many options to fit into one episode, so we decided to. split it up into a two parter. Yeah, our New Year's resolution was to become. cliffhanger guys, and we are already killing it!
What's gonna happen? Wait for it! It's time for Food Feuds! Domino's vs. Papa John's, part two! ((Upbeat Music)). - [Stevie] Okay losers, here's a reminder of where we. left the Domino's vs. Papa John's score back in 2023. - [Link] It's tight. So tight. Is that a cliffhanger guy thing? To talk like that? Yeah, man. Yeah, it's tight. What's gonna happen?
We're the cliffhanger guys. It's tight. - [Stevie] So it's a new year, there's a new crew competition. Last year it was for Will It, this year it's for Food Feuds. So the crew will be competing all year. to try and guess which individual dish you'll. like better at each round, which restaurant will win. overall, and if the winner will choose to sponsor. us at any point in 2024. Well, that's an easy one to guess. - [Stevie] The competition will run throughout the year, and this. time they'll be competing for a special Food Feuds.
Champion letterman jacket. Ooh! Another one? - [Stevie] And to have their favorite snack stocked. in the studio in 2025. So first up, you'll be tasting each restaurant's. version of a New York style pepperoni pizza and rating. it on a scale of 1 to 10. On Rhett's side, you've got an extra large Domino's. Brooklyn style pizza with pepperoni for 14.99. Brooklyn! - [Stevie] And on Link's side, an extra large Papa John's New. York style crust for 24.99. So, you have to request New York style? You have to request it.
- [Rhett] I think I should be requesting it all the time. And you have to order it, an extra large from at. least one of these, right? It's definitely better, than regular, it's so much better than regular pizza. There's less crust. - [Rhett] Yeah. What else? It's big. I just like the proportions. That's good. - [Rhett] It still tastes like Domino's. It does. Which is fine. Which is fine. I'm gonna go over here and see. There's a little more crust on the New York. style of the Papa John's.
It's a little bit more like reg Papa John's. Oh, yeah. Oh, somebody didn't do a good job of cutting this one. Yep, call them back. Oh, oh man, the cliffhanger guys are having trouble. One of them is. What's gonna happen? - [Rhett] Oh man, this cliffhanger guy's having trouble. Is he gonna get it? - [Rhett] He did. Papa John's has got more cheese, less. sauce than Domino's. The sauce is a little sweeter. They're both good.
And they get these. I am going to think about ordering the New York style. next time I order from either one of these places. I'm not thinking about it, I'm doing it. Yeah, it's, good. This cliffhanger guy is doing it. When is he going to do it? We don't know! I'm having such trouble turning that. into a cliffhanger. I don't know if he's going to survive doing it. That's good. - [Link] Right, like that. I'm leaning towards the Papa John's. Something about the less sauce but sweeter sauce.
I'm leaning towards the Domino's. Something about, I just think it tastes better. I think this is pretty good. I'm gonna give it a seven. I'm gonna give it an eight. Oh, over here, I'm gonna give this an eight. Because I think it edges it out. I think it's not quite as good. I'm gonna give it a seven. But you're not gonna give that answer now because that. wouldn't be a cliffhanger. I already did. Too late, you blew it. ((Upbeat Music)). - [Stevie] Next up we've got some thin crust white pizzas. On Rhett's side is Domino's large spinach and feta. pizza on thin crust for 19.99. And on Link's side is Papa John's large fresh.
spinach and tomato pizza on thin crust for 26.99. What have you done? Well. To me. Can I just tell you something, Link? Tell me a story. Something that's on my heart. Yes? In 2009, Domino's accidentally gave away 11,000. pizzas when someone discovered a, discovered. via trial and error, that the code "BAILOUT" gave them. a free one topping pizza. This was coded as part of an internal promo that never. actually got.
Cliffhanger guy. I don't know what he was gonna say. Green-lit! Green-lit! Green-lit. So, there's onions, there's leafs, and there's cheese. Is it spinach? - [Link] No sauce to be found. Make no mistake. Oh, the cheese is pretty nice. - [Link] This tastes like a spinach and artichoke dip pizza. Is there, yeah, there is artichoke on it. Or is that onion? - [Rhett] I don't know. It's definitely flat breadish.
It's not very pizza-ish. Actually, it is, it has a good taste. If you like, spinach and artichoke dip. And it's cut into squares. So you can get a coveted crustless. Square. Piece. Oh, piece. We gotta get better at our cliffhangers. Yeah, cliffhanger guys. You kinda gotta know what you want to know. when it's withheld. Oh gosh, what am I gonna do, y'all? - [Rhett] There's a lot of tomatoes on this, Link. You know what?
I'm just gonna eat them. Well, they're cooked. Not gonna pick them off. I mean, on the outside it says, deliciously ripe, I'll be the judge of that. The flavor is not as good, it's not salty. enough, or something. But, oh sorry, they got these. I mean. They keep having these. For this to be diced tomatoes, they're. cooked enough for me not to completely absolutely hate it.
Clear winner here for me. But this one is, this one is unique. I do like the way it's cut. I like the way it tastes. It's thin. It's new. And your score? - [Link] Seven. I was gonna say seven as well. Okay. I actively am indifferent to this one. Five. Yeah, I'm gonna be generous. Be generous. And not take the tomatoes into account. And I'm going to give it a 5 too. - A 5 2? -A 5 also.
He's going to give it a 5.2. I'm going to give it a 5. ((Upbeat Music)). I am sporting the January Pin of the Month. It's the Be Your Mythical Best pin. And of course, it's only available for 24 hours. So, snatch it up. Hey, there's a little something different this. year though, because we are giving you a subscription. option, so you can never miss a pin the entire year and. there's two options for that. You can do recurring monthly That's gonna be available. all year, whenever you sign up you get that pin and then. every subsequent pin, or if you want to pay for a year.
up front and get a 10 percent total discount, you can do that. through the end of this week. - Okay? - 10 percent discount. Mythical.com. Make sure you don't miss any pins. Pretty great. All right. We've already done Buffalo wings. - [Stevie] These are garlic parm wings. Now we have the garlic parm wings. - [Stevie] On Rhett's side is Domino's 8 piece for 9.49. And on Link's, Papa John's 8 piece for 11.99. They doused these suckers. Papa John's is always a little more expensive on.
pretty much everything. But yeah, what, I mean, they've really. - [Rhett] Domino's will put something on a sheet of paper and. put stuff on top of it. That's what they will do. They will do it. I'm not going to put sauce on these because they're. so saucy to begin with. I mean, look at that. Oh, that's hot. Oh, man. How hot is it? Everyone at your house is gonna know you've. been eating these wings. It's almost like a gravy. Solid wing. Garlic parm gravy. Put a little ranch on that. It's still got that underlying Domino's wing.
taste, which tastes like not a wing that was fried, but a wing that was baked and is a little bit soft. A lot of soft breading. But that's kind of what they do. A lot of soft breading. - [Rhett] I'm getting one that's been hanging out in. the sauce down here. Getting a drum there. Here's the blue cheese if you want to try that. I'm trying the ranch on both of these. I wouldn't typically dip a parm in, a. garlic parm wing, so I'm not going to do it. - [Link] I'm doing it anyway. Just a little bit.
Okay. A lot more subtle. The wing is still better at Papa John's. Agreed. I don't know what we said last time. But it's hitting me that these are a better wing. This is a great sauce. Well, we were at 11 and 14, I believe. There's a lot to overcome when it comes to the softness of a Domino's wing. and I think that they're very liberal with the sauce, which. I appreciate, but, it's not the best sauce taste in the world. I'm gonna give these I'm gonna give it a 5.
I'm going all the way to 5, down to 5. Yeah, it's just, it's, soaking up all that parmesan. sauce and it's just like, it just makes it so mushy. Five. Over here. - [Rhett] Over there. - [Link] I'm still happier. I'm happy. I'm two points happier. I wish they were more garlicky and parmy. Yeah, they're not perfect, but they're very enjoyable, and it's a good, nice, slightly crispy wing. Seven for me.
Totally agree. On the same page, I'm also giving it a seven. Look at that. ((Upbeat Music)). - [Stevie] And finally, it's dessert time. On Rhett's side is Domino's Marbled Brownie Cookie for 8.49. and their lava cakes for 7.99. And on Link's side is Papa John's chocolate. chip cookie for 9.99. and their double chocolate brownie for 9.99. Okay, last time the cliffhanger boys, or guys, did this.
and had dessert from Domino's. Several of you, in the comments, were like, what? No lava cake? What? You're crazy! You didn't know we were the cliffhanger boys! We're the cliffhanger fellas. Losers. We were expecting that comment, and we did it. So we can wait and do it now. Yeah, cause that was the cinnamon dessert test, which, let's see, was 16 to 20. Ooh, dramatic drip. - [Rhett] Oh, oh. - [Link] You kept me in suspense. What are you, some sort of cliffhanger boy?
Yes. You might as well be going to the next one. - [Link] It's, it's a little bit clear. - [Rhett] You think the icing's too clear? De de de de de de de decadent. Very lava-y, very moist. It's very moist. It doesn't even need the icing. No, it may not need the icing. It might, it feels like we're doing too much. Now we got the. A brownie with some cookie in it. The blonde on brownie.
That's very good. - [Link] I like a cookie on my brownie. I think I might like a cookie on my brownie more. than I like a lava cake. I wouldn't have thought that, but now I do think that. This is better than that, which isn't bad at all. You're right. Over here in Papa John land, we have a, just a huge cookie. It's like a cookie cake, like from the roller skating rink. Ain't nobody fooling us. We're roller skating again. Oh, man. Oh, man.
It's great. Couple's cake. But. Cliffhanger guys are holding hands again. It's not creative. What Domino's is doing over here is a. little more creative. They've notched it up. You know? There's a cookie under a brownie versus just a. cookie and then a brownie. But the taste of that is so good though. You gotta admit it. One cliffhanger guy to another, you gotta admit it. It's a cookie though. That brownie with the cookie tastes better. than that cookie. Well, it's more creative, I'll give you that.
And this brownie's not as good as that brownie. It's a good brownie. - [Rhett] Hold on now. - [Link] Don't keep me in suspense too long. - [Rhett] You're right. These are two very good desserts over here. on the Domino's side. - [Link] This is where Domino's is really shining. But again, not in the last one, but not last episode. of dessert round, but today. And again, I'm on the fast food dessert scale here. I'm on the pizza. Sure, sure, sure. The pizza dessert scale.
And I'm going to a 9. I'm going to a 9 as well. I didn't think I would. Near and full agreement. But I did. And we didn't think we did, but we do. And I really like these though, Link. I might even go to an 8, but you know what? No, I'm not going all the way to an 8. I'm going to a 7. I'm disappointed. They're just, they're not bringing anything. new to the table. I'm gonna be generous, I feel like. With a six. Oh, okay. So that might shake things up. Where does that leave us? Let's get to our final result. Cliffhanger!
- [Rhett] So with a score of 117 to 114, congratulations to Domino's! - [Link] What? Yes, Domino's pulled it out. I did not expect that. You are the winner of our great two part Food Feud. I mean, this is a big one. This is a big one. They're taking a lot home here. And you have won the chance. to sponsor a future GMM episode. Check us out. How did the crew do, with the first episode. of the tournament? Is it competitive? - [Stevie] We have two people tied for first. Silaine and TJ.
It's anybody's game at this point. Okay. Alright, I'm full of pizza and, I feel pretty celebratory. Before we go, and in this episode, we wanted. to acknowledge the end. of an era here at Good Mythical Morning. Where's Morgan, Morgan? Morgan, Morgan, come out here! ((Applause)). He's directed us and been a tremendous force.
