Can We Sculpt A Live Nude Model?

Today we're sculpting nude models. Let's talk about that. ((Intro Music)). Good Mythical Morning. It's season 25 and we've grown up a lot. We're mature now. Yeah, and that means that we're ready to bring nude. models back in the studio and be much more grown up while. we sculpt them out of clay. ((Link Laughing)).

Can't believe they're letting us do it again. Am I getting creepy? Yes. I'm not creepy, I'm mature. It's time for. Should Nude Acquaintance Be Sculpted. And Have Their Time to Shine? Heck Yeah They Should! Happy Nude Year! Welcome back to the Nudio Studio Zone. Alright, and we've got teaching artist. Adesina Cooper here with us. Hey, Adesina. ((Applause)). Nice to be here.

And I understand that you have brought some of. your go to, uh, models. I presume that is what you guys are today. Yes. Some of my favorite. Okay, what makes them your favorite? You'll see. ((Laughing)). You'll see. Alright, and it's Carmen and? Curtis. - [Link] Curtis. We're going with the C's today for our models. Link, you, you, it feels like it's setting in again.

I know. It feels like it's setting in again. I don't do this a lot. Last time we had some nude models in the studio, I think we both embarrassed ourselves a little bit. He embarrassed himself more than I do, which is typical. Well, I think that you guys will do just fine. I think it's something that is very intuitive. We all have bodies. Right. We all should be looking at our bodies. There you go. Do you guys look at your bodies? Uh, occasionally. - [Adesina] Occasionally? Okay, well, I hope that you guys start to look a.

little bit more after today, but I think it's something. that's very intuitive. I think it'll come natural to you and I. think you'll do fine. Are we going to make something that is sellable? No. ((Laughing)). I would not try to sell your first piece. No. So should we choose our model or should. our models choose us? - [Stevie] Yeah, so in order to determine who will be sculpting which. model, closest correct answer to this trivia. question gets to pick. Okay. - [Stevie] The armless Venus de Milo is one of the most famous.

sculptures of all time. Zero. - [Stevie] In what year was it thought to have been created? Okay, well, you guessed zero, which. Well, I was guessing number of fingers. It is a year. Um, okay. - [Rhett] Let me think of an answer. Give us a countdown. - [Stevie] Oh. Three, two, one. Three hundred! A.D. - [Stevie] I didn't hear. I said the year three hundred. You said? - [Stevie] Okay. The year thirty one.

Okay. A.D. - [Stevie] The answer is 100 B.C. Oh, you're closer. I got it. So, now, I. ((Laughing)). Get to pick. You know what? I'm glad. I mean, is there, is there something, is there. a factor here that who I should pick as a beginner? No. Um, I got the, I got the woman last time, so. That is true.

I'll. For the sake of variety? Yeah, yeah. Curtis, I choose you. Adesina, I'm guessing that the first step in this process. is our models getting nude. Is there some sort of ceremonial way that. you want to do that? No. ((Laughing)). No, we're ready. Okay, well. Feel free to get naked. You know. Do your, do your model thing.

((Laughing)). And I guess I'll keep, I'll just. Stay professional. Stay professional. I'm gonna keep. Okay, I'll give you guys something to do in the meantime. Okay. Here you go. I'm looking at this. Grasp that clay as hard as you can. I am. I can't help but notice this. Here you go. So, to start off, while they, while they get ready for us. Am I supposed to be squeezing it this hard? ((Laughing)). Oh wow, you really did it. I'm good. I'm good. I'm good. Okay. Hey guys. Hi.

All right. It looks like you're ready. Carmen. You kept the glasses on. You kept the glasses. Yes. Okay. That's going to make it more difficult for me cause I'm. definitely doing the glasses. ((Laughing)). Are you? We're going to hold you to that. - [Rhett] Yeah, yeah. I'm doing little glasses. To start off, let's just make a support system for you guys. So this is going to be your first test, the easiest test. So don't overthink this part. Okay. So to start off, we're going to make some pedestals. for them to sit on. So you got to chunk your clay. You're just gonna, nothing crazy, nothing pretty. You're just gonna, get a good chunky.

Don't thin it out too much. Make it pretty chunky. We're just gonna, nothing too crazy. How about that? - [Adesina] Perfect. Now smack it down in the middle. Perfect. So, how often do you guys get naked and get sculpted? This is my third time. - [Link] Third time? - [Rhett] Okay. That feels pretty new. My third time as well. Oh, wow. So we're all kind of getting into this. Yeah. Okay, well, what were the first two times like? What got you into this?

Well, he got me into it. ((Laughing)). Oh, okay, Curtis started it. And what did he tell you? He said that we were gonna be naked. ((Laughing)). And I said yes. Why? It's a thrill. It's an adventure. And she teaches you how to love your body. - [Curtis] She does. That sounds like a very important part of this. I think so. It's liberating. Okay, so let's get started. Just get a chunk off. I'm doing Carmen's right leg because that's. the one on the bottom.

Look at that calf. That's great. There we go. I think you guys are doing a great so far. It has to start off very ugly and work. its way to get there. Thanks for that. Okay. All right. Starting off ugly. And then I'm, I guess I'm just going to sit it on the. - [Adesina] Yes. Am I getting ahead of myself? A little, but you're actually on point. So there's just one, one thing you want to make sure. you do when you're sculpting or else your whole piece. will fall apart later. So, if I'm making these two together. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Before I do that I'm going to score or scratch. Now this is another part where you don't want. to get too pretty, you want it to be ugly, you. want to just open up. Think about like you're opening the pores of the clay. - [Link] Okay. Open it up. - [Rhett] I gotta do that. - [Link] Alright. Both sides. Open, then when you put it together it will stick. If you do not do this, your entire piece will fall apart. So, and I'm going to do it to what? Because I'm going to? To the seat, correct. - [Link] To the bottom. - [Adesina] Look at you, you're not a beginner. Curtis, would you say that your right leg is.

pretty much the same as the size of your left leg? I think so. Yeah, my left leg's a little longer than my right leg. What about you, Carmen? We got equal legs? I think so. I kind of agree. Well, these are probably not going to be equal. Just so you know. It might not exactly match. - [Carmen] Do your best. - [Rhett] I'm doing my best though. I'm feeling pretty good about this though. Because once you do one leg, then the other leg. needs to be.

- [Adesina] You start to see the potential. Yeah. Look at that. Oh, wow. Oh, yeah. - [Link] Yeah, yeah, I see it. I call this, legs. ((Laughing)). - [Link] Wow, Rhett. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's pretty good. - [Rhett] I've never done it before. - [Adesina] Let's move forward. We're working on the torso here, okay? So, torso, these are a couple points that are. very, very important. A lot of times when people make torsos, they tend to go flat. But we are not flat. People, we're, we're usually kind of rounded, right? And also, our ribs are here.

We have a whole lot going on in here. So we want to make a round shape, something similar. to like a dome or an egg. We need that roundness. Okay. Otherwise, what will happen is it will look like the. chest is, caved in. And we don't want that. Right. So, technical question. How about that? - [Adesina] It's a, it's. Not rounded enough? - [Adesina] No, that was not bad. You see how hard you go at it? He's aggressive. Very aggressive with everything. So aggressive. Do I try to, uh, am I gonna add the boobs?

I would add the boobs separately. - [Rhett] Okay. And individually. Okay. All right. I am, I am prepared for this. Okay. So how about that? Look at that. - [Adesina] Yes. Okay. So now what we want to do is we want to get him. in the direction he's in. So he's leaning forward a bit, right? So we want to make sure we get that posture. What are you thinking about this right now? Like what do you see in this? I see a square and we want to have a little.

bit more rounder shapes. So one way to go about that is right now what you're doing. Is you are sort of squaring it out like this, but instead. you can round and start to create rounded shapes. Okay. See I'm doing, I gotta like. - [Adesina] Yes, that's coming together. Smush it down so it like. - [Adesina] Yeah, that looks good. And just lean him forward a good, it's better to. be a little bit more dramatic than not enough. So, okay.

- [Adesina] Yes. So I'm trying to figure out like I, you know, I kind. of want to be able to like. Make the, like, the bottom of the torso and. the back of the legs. I'm like sculpting, I'm sculpting the booty. at this point, right? And so I want to make sure that I'm doing this. in a way that's actually going to, I want to do. this in proper technique. You know what I'm saying? Like, right now I'm just putting what I. made on top of the legs. And I start, and I'm compelled to start going in and start. making artistic choices, but I don't know if I'm.

supposed to do that yet. Yeah, you know, it's a, it's something that. everyone struggles with. You have not seen the butt yet, but everyone. wants to make the butt. You will. We will turn around. But for now, I wouldn't make the butt. until you see the butt. You added it, you can leave it, and go back to it. That feels revolutionary. But I've, but I've already done it. Don't make the butt until you see the butt. I've already done it. That's words to live by. Take a look. But what did you make if you haven't seen it? Well, just something to work with. What do you, what do you think? - [Rhett] That's probably not a great start, Link.

- [Adesina] Yeah, no. Well just, all right, do you guys, can you rotate like, like I'm doing with this? Oh. I think we can. - [Link] Whoa, look at that. They're fully rotatable. I'm keeping it, okay. - [Link] All right, so now. - [Rhett] Okay. - [Link] Yep, this is a different perspective. - [Adesina] Yes. For both of you, what's your experience like seeing the. final products of people? Do you, I mean, if you hate it, do you tell them? You're like, that is not me.

No. I mean, it's art. Art is subjective, so. I try not to make a face, but I can't help it sometimes. I'm very impressed with your guy's butts. Both of you guys. Oh, yeah? You guys have two very different shapes, but you guys are both executing it very well. Alright, I'm feeling good about the booty! - [Carmen] Rhett is silent over there. Are you okay? Yeah, Rhett. How you feeling about the booty? Right now. My world is your booty.

((Laughing)). - [Carmen] Round me out, round me out. Round me out. I mean, I am taking so much care here. - [Carmen] Thank you. And I'm feeling really good. That makes me feel good. Oh my. Let's go ahead and make an arm so that you. can have some support. Yeah, I gotta do something here. Yeah, get an arm going so you can get a. - [Link] Oh, my guy is totally bent over. Yeah, you need a little support. He is droopy. It's because you're very determined in. getting that back. That's a good word. You did a great job.

Yeah, but I got a, now I got to build an arm. to literally hold up. - [Adesina] Yes, yes. - [Link] A torso. So now I kind of need him to turn back around. - [Adesina] Okay. Are you guys? I'm ready for Carmen to turn back around as well. Arms. He wants to bend over so much that I just want to like. Do we still feel naked to you? Yes. ((Laughing)). I don't know about feeling, but you. definitely look naked. But less naked. You know what I'm saying?

I think I'm more comfortable. I'm just kind of committed to the art of it at this point. Yeah, I'm so focused on trying to make something that. is not going to offend you. Have you forgotten that you're nude? Yes. Don't even think about it. I'm making a deltoid. I feel like a surgeon, you know? It's like, you gotta know anatomy, you gotta. know when to smush. Okay, critical moment here. And you gotta know what you're smushing and stretching. I gotta get these boobs to be exactly the same size.

Sisters, not twins. They don't have to be the same, same size. Sisters, not twins. Well, I'm just trying to reflect what I see here. Isn't she so wise? Sisters, not twins, but I mean, they look, they're twinning to me. ((Laughing)). You know? That's great to hear. ((Laughing)). - [Link] I mean, my Curtis arm is much lumpier than. Curtis' Curtis arm.

What am I gonna do? - [Adesina] Pay attention to where your elbow should be too. Yeah, where's the elbow? Elbow's way too. Okay, I'm gonna get there. - [Adesina] You're getting there, I see it. I see it. It looks great. How are we doing, guys? - [Rhett] Feeling pretty good about these boobs. I added some more pec. Pec nature to you. To reflect the pec. And now, he's still bending over a lot. I gotta get him to sit up a little bit.

Wow, Rhett. What do you think about? - [Link] Those boobs are just. What's the nip? Smooth! Yes. Carmen, I have touched the clay version of. your boobs quite a bit. And, I mean, move them in so many different directions, and try to get them exactly the right shape, I really. hope I made you proud, but now I gotta figure out, what. do you do about nipples? Good question. Good question. Do you make nipples with a different thing? - [Adesina] Yes. You add them. For nipples, this is the quick and easy trick to doing it.

I like to just get a tiny piece of clay. Add it where you're going to add it, and I take the. flat part of any tool, and I just square it away. This is fun. I'm still making, I'm making Curtis boobs over here. - [Adesina] You can make Curtis nipples the same way, too. Okay. I wasn't listening, though, because I thought that only. applied to Carmen nipples. Well, it's quite an intricate process.

- [Link] So what do I do, Rhett? ((Laughing)). What did she say? These are nipples. ((Laughing)). Let me see the nipple. Oh. So you make balls? ((Laughing)). Oh no! ((Laughing)). Yeah. Help! Can we put like something here? Like, let's put a column here that you're like, leaning. on so you don't fall over because I got one over here.

There we go. Any advice for the head? For the head, yes, go ahead and start to round out your head and create. the head shape. So, let's see. So from there, what I like to. do is create just that little back cuff that happens with. the back of the head. Back cuff? - [Adesina] That hook, wrong word, my bad. We need a little hook. Okay, yeah, I got you. Okay, and then the last part, which is really.

important to shaping the face, is to add the jawline. Add it. Add it, so I like to just go up. Cause we got this beard happening. - [Adesina] No. - [Link] Not the beard? Gotta start with the jawline. Yeah. Yeah, this is the part that God left out for me. ((Laughing)). Now I'm so curious to see what you look like. Well, just Google it. ((Laughing)). Can you make your head and just start to square. off your jaw line? Depending on your shape and your person.

Yeah. Yes. Yes, is that what's happening? Yes, it is. It's a head. Trying to maintain, like, a view of Carmen and. What should I do? Wow. What should I do with this? Why are you only wowing him? Because look at the nipples. Those nipples are. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's like when she started kind of getting in there, you kind of make the areola part, you know. It's great. I mean, really, I discovered a new talent.

I'm just going to be making nipples all day. Clay nipple maker. I love the way you, got even the side boobs. in the armpit area. Oh, that's the best part. - [Adesina] That's the best part. It just makes it look really soft and fluffy. Good job. - [Carmen] Side boob is underrated. It's underrated. It's underrated. Adesina, they are cursing you with a picture. of me without a beard. Oh. ((Laughing)). Now, I will say a couple of things about this picture. - [Adesina] I've seen the picture from my peripheral, but I.

did not think it was you. Yeah, you didn't. - [Curtis] I love the beard. ((Laughing)). Great beard, huh? - [Carmen] I love how short your hair is too. Me too, me too. There's a lot of things, you know, I feel like I could. have had a more confident look for that, but I was just. so mad that I had to shave it, that it really, just. the sadness in my face, the poor choices and everything. else, yeah, I'm really never gonna live that down. Okay, I'm ready for the big moment. You're ready to add the? The twig and the berries. Okay, let's add them.

Okay, so first we're going to add our berries. Lay your berries down. I'm actually, I've created, oh my gosh, this may be. the best scrotum I've ever made out of clay. Well, how many scrotes have you made? Look at that, dude. Wow. That, yep. Wow's all around. If you held that up. Hey, listen. I'm the nipple guy, you're the scrotum guy. ((Laughing)). - [Link] And then. Everybody's gotta have their thing. I'm just gonna, yep, there they are. Don't squeeze them too much, you know you're aggressive.

Yep, I did, I smushed them. - [Adesina] You smushed them. But, I think it's, I think it's good. Wow. Yeah. It looks like a heart upside down. Yeah, yeah, I do love it. Okay, perfect. Let's add our, what did you call it? Twig. - [Adesina] Twig. Twig is a little. Let's, yeah, let's, um, let's, let's call it, um. Branch. - [Link] Branch. Twig is a little. ((Laughing)).

Here we go. ((Laughing)). I'm gonna help Rhett out while you figure that one out. Yeah, there's different, there's different, it, it's different pieces. Should I? Oh, no! He fell again! ((Laughing)). He's so tired. He is so tired. I mean, it's a lot of work holding up that nut sack. ((Laughing)). I'm gonna add the glands of the penis.

And you're working on glasses over there. Yeah, I'm doing my best. Glands and glasses. - [Adesina] Glands and glasses. That's our, that's our next comedy duo name. It's definitely not easy, but it's, you know, it's a. little bit of an abstract nature to my. To your glasses? - [Rhett] To my glasses. And I think adding a, just a, bit of a nose will help. - [Adesina] Oh, you are going all out. I mean, just so there's just. something for them to rest on.

He's really challenging you. I feel like I'm doing my thing. No competition? Yeah, this is just about me. And Curtis. ((Laughing)). Carmen, your face is an interpretation. Okay? I've done it. Alright, our sculptures are here. We want our subjects, our models, our muses to see them. And then we will ask you to judge which one is the best.

I'm happy to judge. Alright, you want to reveal, at the same time or yours first? Maybe we do one at a time. - [Link] Okay. Okay, you want me to go first? Carmen? I did my best. Okay. I believe you. Right? Wow! My boobs look great! - [Rhett] Yeah, they do. ((Laughing)). - [Link] The boobs look great. The glasses.

- [Rhett] The glasses again, an artistic interpretation. - [Link] I think, yeah, I think that was a mistake. I was running out, I was running out of time when. we got to the head. So focus mostly on the boobs. ((Laughing)). - [Link] Those nipples, though. I am so proud of your boobs, Thank you. I like them too. Wow. Good job. So yours stands as it is. Mine actually doesn't stand as it is. ((Laughing)). Yeah. It needs some help. So what I'm going to do is. I have to remove a support.

Can we, can we watch you do that? I'll let you watch, because I do want to wait. until the last second. Curtis, meet clay Curtis. And if I remove the support. Oh! He stayed. ((Laughing)). - [Rhett] What do you think, Curtis? ((Laughing)). Picasso. ((Laughing)).

- [Link] If you notice, you've got. I mean, you chose to sit like that. I can see that. I can see that. I mean, what is the focal point? Okay, I can just say, I looked at Curtis a couple. of times, and I never saw him spreading that wide. That's all I gotta say. Wow, that's a lot of shoulders. ((Laughing)). A lot of shoulders. You got great shoulders. - [Carmen] He's like a superhero. And I mean, I am particularly proud of the back.

The hips and the butt. - [Curtis] Okay. ((Laughing)). What do you think of that? He says okay. I like it. I wish you could have done a little better on the hook. - [Link] The back of the? Yeah, it looks like you've, suffered. some sort of accident. ((Laughing)). In the back in the head. Okay, so give an assessment. Let's go back to Rhett's. Give it a, and what do you? I love Rhett's piece mostly because It looks very soft. and natural the way a woman would so the breasts, the nice.

side boobs, and the armpits, those are key to making key. features to breasts. This looks great, the head. - [Link] The head is hurting. The head is hurting. - [Rhett] Yeah, yeah. I should have stopped. I should have done no face like you said. I tried to tell you. Sometimes less is better. But the glasses look great. I think also you did a really good job at getting those. hips and the way that they spread when her legs are open.

- [Link] They don't lie. They don't lie. Now, your piece. Now don't turn it too fast. I don't want it to fall over. ((Laughing)). - [Adesina] I personally think that you did a great. job in this back area. This back, the lower back, the booty, all. of this looks great. This arm is a little scary, but the. back looks amazing. I still don't know if I would sell them, but! ((Laughing)). If I had to pick a favorite.

If I had to pick a favorite. I'm gonna go with this piece. Oh, dang! And let me say why. Yeah, I kind of need you to. ((Laughing)). Everyone does. I'm gonna go with this piece mostly because when. I look at the back I feel like you have a good bundle. combination going here. Like the transition goes very smoothly. In the front here, I feel like that lower belly could've. looked a little softer. - [Rhett] Okay. - [Adesina] It could've been a little bit more, want to touch.

it kind of a feeling. But. Want to touch it. It, I like it. But I think I like this one a bit better. Wow. I know I'm surprised myself. I did not think I was gonna say that. ((Laughing)).
