again to Mint Mobile for sponsoring this portion of today's episode. Now, Link, you may recall, I don't know, a few years ago I worked very hard along. with the team to put together an episode with the express purpose of curing your. picky eating habits once and for all. And now, because of that, you love tomatoes, blue cheese, oysters, and testicles, right? No, I do not. No. I do not. Okay. Well, you know what? I, I can't quit you, man.
Because today I'm actually going to cure your picky eating habits once and for all. Okay. I would like you to go ahead and put your blindfold on. Um- Oh, we're already getting into this, huh? I have revised my techniques. I have a new approach. I know nothing. Yes, well... And, uh, I- Related to this ... I am taking that into account. As you can see, I can't, so- Do your plan. Okay. I'm gonna try to stay very positive about this.
Yeah, yeah. Because I'm open. 'Cause you want this. Yeah. You want this. You, I know you want me to want this, and you know what? I w- I would like to, uh, be okay with this. So one of the things that I'm do- Less disruptive ... doing differently this time. is I'm starting out by giving you something that you definitely like, and there just may. be a hint of the thing that you don't like. Open your mouth and you're gonna receive something you love, okay? Ugh. I've heard that before. Okay. Yeah, you just, you love this.
You love it. You love it. You love that. Pudding. Chocolate pudding? Yes. Mm-hmm. You love chocolate pudding. Mm. But that pudding had a little passenger. Just a little passenger along for the ride, a passenger that, uh, I've seen you not enjoy. But you know what? When there's just a little bit of it... Does it go with pudding? No. It does not go with pudding, but- I didn't, okay, I didn't taste anything. Great. So that is good.
Hold on. Here's the thing. Let's keep that going. You did taste it. No, I didn't. You just tasted a l- no, you tasted a little bit of it, and you, and so you don't hate it. I'm like a dog being fed a pill. If, if you hated it, you would have not been able to take that. See? So, hey. That's true. See? We're still in a positive place. Give me, give me some more of the pudding. Okay. Uh, we've moved beyond the pudding. Aw. And now- Just have the pudding on standby in case I need it to chase something down. Oh, oh, okay. Please? It's ready. What was that? Chase. All right.
Now what I want you to do is I don't want you to think about food. I want you to think about you being out in a beautiful grassy field. Oh. Okay? Just a beautiful- I was in one of those in New Zealand ... I mean, it looks like, it looks like- They have so many grassy fields there. You wouldn't believe it ... the old Windows screensaver, you know? The background, that field, you know? It's just a beautiful green, oh, soft grass. It's so smooth. You're just lying down in it, enjoying your day, and you look up and you see a beautiful. yellow sun, just a big, beautiful sun.
Yeah. And it, that sun starts coming down towards your face. You're like, "Oh, God, the sun is descending, but it's not getting hotter. It doesn't seem hotter. It's just getting closer to me." And then that. sun begins to go into- Don't crush me! It begins to go into your mouth, and it is silky and smooth and. nutritious and wonderful, rejuvenating. Okay, so that, that's the image that I would like you to have in your. mind as you bite- I'm eating the sun?
Yes. As you bite this, just be thinking about the sun. Is it h- is it hot? It's not hot, and now just, it's, it's, it- And it's not, it has p- no pudding in it. There's no pudding. We've moved beyond the pudding, okay? Oh, man. So just open a little bit, and don't get too big of a bite. Just get a, open a little bit more. I'm gonna put it in the distance that I think it should be, and then you. just, you, you descend upon it, okay? I heard that. I heard that. The, the sun is c- open wider, and- I Nice and easy. Just nice and easy. Yep, yeah, yeah. Bite through. Yes.
Bite through. It's the sun. It's the sun, my son. Just a little bit. Just a little bit of the sun. You see how little of the sun he got? Bread. Bread, yes. Guacamole. Mm, you love that. That's the grass. I like guacamole. Yeah, you li- yeah, yeah, he likes guacamole. You're having a good time. I can see it on your face. You're smiling. N- no, I'm not, but I'm thinking.
Y- but you liked it. Mostly bread and mush. Like a- But it was silky smooth, right? Yeah. Uh-huh. Nutritious? I didn't taste anything bad. Omega-3s? I didn't taste... Okay. Omega-3s. So, so like a, like fat? I mean, kind of. Link, do you wanna take your- It was mostly ta- uh- Do you wanna take your blindfold off? ... toast. And see what you just successfully ate? Ah.
It was tasteless, I will say that. Okay. Well, then maybe it's all in your head. 'Cause you, my friend- I have a guess. I have a guess. Oh, I thought it was a eggplant. You had a r- runny egg yolk. And look how much of it you bit. You bit the sun. And now... Oh, the sun. Now we're moving beyond that. Again, see, this is... I've, I've really thought this. It's... Oh, and there is guacamole on it. It's avocado toast. Yeah. I always get that without the egg on top.
Yeah, so just so you understand what I'm doing, what I'm doing is I'm giving you. something you love with a little bit of it. Well, I see that. Then I'm giving you a little bit of it in a dish that where it makes sense, and. now- So you put eggs in pudding, dude? I see it over there. And then we, and then we move to the next part, which is you're gonna face this down. You know what it is. You've already proven that you actually like it, 'cause we just saw you enjoy it twice, and now you're gonna enjoy it by itself. And I've got a couple of other ways... No, you can put your blindfold off. I know, but I'd rather not. No. No, no, no. Keep it on. It's just, I mean, have you seen Dr. Pimple Popper?
Yeah, but here's the thing. Link- It's, I don't watch that either ... this round comes with two things. Number one is a bribe from me. If you take a bite of this runny egg yolk, which I know it's the runny egg. yolk is the part, not the eggs, I'm gonna do s- I'm gonna give you something. I'm going to let you see a picture of a pregnant woman. Why? W- why would I? I got one right over there. Don't ask any more questions. Also- Why would I want that? Also your father has prepared- ... some encouraging remarks.
May- uh- What kind of pregnant woman? Is there anything that we could go ahead and hear? Hey, guys. I'm just here to support my beloved son. Carry on with the show. Yeah, see? He, he's so ready to help. Thanks, Dad. Okay, so, uh, I'm gonna prepare a bite for you. It did not taste bad. Yeah, 'cause it's just egg yolk. And do I have to watch what you're about to do? Oh, good.
I'm watching 'cause you're struggling so much. Okay, that didn't run too much, which is okay. Yeah, you can take this bite. But it looks... Ah. Sorry, maybe you should have your blindfold on. Okay, again. It looks like a raw earlobe on snow. Yeah, but you, but you love it. You've already loved it twice. The sun is, is here. Mm. I love you no matter what. But I'd love you even more if you took a big bite.
Bite. Ah. Okay, yep, mm-hmm. Yeah? It's all right. I just don't like to think about the chicken-ness of it. You don't like to think about it, but you actually don't mind the taste or the texture. I like a deviled egg. And look at that. Look at that. Is that, is that Kesha?
Ah. No, I don't, I don't know who that is, but she's pregnant. Confirmed. I'm so happy for her, and that's all I feel, is just- ... a. volitional happiness- Hey, this is a victory ... that she's making babies. We, we've already gotten so much further than we did last time. So would you say that for this one, that you are officially icky or I'm too picky? Um, I'm all right. I'm, I'm, I think I...
What, what's, what does that mean, officially icky? That means you're just acknowledging that you're a little too picky, and, and so-. But what if I'm gonna eat it from now on? Uh, then, uh, yeah, you w- I was too picky. But now I'm icky? No, no. Is it still officially icky? Are you saying that, "Yeah, I'm, I was a little too picky. Now I'm not-" I'm no... How about I'm no longer picky? Okay, I'm no longer as picky. Makes more sense. I'm no longer as picky. Okay. All right, all right. All right. Victory, okay. Okay, I know for a fact you do not like what you are about to eat, at least the.
ingredient that is inside of something. I bet it's worse than the first one. That you- Which I'm proud of myself. I'm very proud of you as well. But this is in something that you really, really love. Okay. But you might have a easier time detecting this just for texture reasons, but, uh, open wide, and down, and right. What is that? Peanut butter is the word he said. Also something very ch- chewy in the middle. Mm-hmm. Try to enjoy it all together. Don't try to separate and save that.
Try to eat it with the peanut butter, 'cause we're trying to trick. your brain into enjoying it, okay? Yum, yum, yummy. See? Is that what your brain's thinking? Yeah, it felt like there was a date in the middle of it, like- Oh, yeah. That's not a bad way to see this thing. Like a chewy little... A chewy little date. Well, I'd like to take your mouth on a date. Well, a sh- a shard of something. Yes, a shard. Link, the thing I'm about to put in your mouth I think represents. you in a lot of ways, right?
Okay. It's soft and fluffy in appearance, and people might people might. come to incorrect conclusions. It's, it's soft and delicate. Soft. But you know what? But down beneath the surface... Meringue? It's hiding something that is complex and a little bit challenging and more interesting. th- th- than sometimes, uh, people might come to a conclusion about, right? Okay. They're just like, "Hey, this guy's a little more c- complicated than I, than I imagined.
I... There's, there's, there's something else besides what meets-" Yeah, there's more to. meat, than meets the eye f- to the Linkster. Yeah, that's right. If his friend talks him into it, he'll eat himself. Yeah, that's right. So this is you eating something that represents you and your complexity. Yeah. I'm a deep guy. Take a bite. You could take a... I think you could take a nice, good bite of this. It's a, it's a fluffy cake. Mm-hmm. Ugh. Hey, that's the complexity, though.
That's... You're, you're challenging people. You know what I'm saying? Oh, no, no. You're like, "Hold on. Give me a second with this guy. Hold on. What did you say?". It's licorice, isn't it? No, yeah, come on. Yeah, but that... I mean, it's complex. It's unique. Who- There's nothing else in the world- Who puts licorice- ... that. tastes like it ... in a cake? We do. Take your blindfold off. You're right. That helps. You just ate licorice, my friend, inside of a brownie. Okay. Great job, sport. Thanks, man. I mean, Link. A- and that wasn't easy, because I don't even like brownies.
Oh, go... Okay. Well, you shouldn't have admitted that. All right. I mean, I don't hate brownies, but... Now, what I want you to do- If I was at. a doctor's office, and, uh, I think maybe you need to take that angle, because. since it already tastes like medicine. Well, that angle's gone. Now what we're doing is we're bribing you. You're gonna take one of these. All right. This is soft licorice, which is the best kind of black licorice. We're not going super salty or anything like that. If I eat too much of this, it will kill me, right? Uh, not way more than this on a repeated number of days. Here's what I want you to do. Take one of these. Just place it in your hand so you can familiarize yourself with it.
If you eat- This thing ... like, a black rod of nasty... If you eat this. thing, I'm gonna do two things for you. The first thing I'm gonna do is I'm gonna show you a picture of a. pregnant woman in a crop top, okay? I just ne- come on now. Okay. I just need you to lay off of that. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. So no, we're gonna see her actual belly, right? And then the second thing I'm gonna do for you- I'm not admitting to. anything ... I'm, I'm, I'm gonna do both of these things for you. The second thing I'm gonna do for you is I am going to read a YouTube comment about.
you where someone referred to you as zaddy. Okay? All right. Okay? Okay. So- I think pregnancy is just a beautiful process. So you want all of this, this barrel of fun monkeys going into my mouth? Anything from Charles? Just l- just so we can- Yeah. Dad. Keep up the good work. Thanks, Dad. Yeah. It's complex. It's unexpected. It makes people feel a little bit uncomfortable sometimes. Come on.
Yeah, come on. You, you understand this. You can relate to this. It's like gelatinized chewing tobacco juice. Hey, hey, hey. Hey, hey, hey. You're doing it. There she is. Is she wearing pants? Yeah, she's wearing pants. I mean, the pants are a lot like her skin color, which is an odd choice. Not my choice. But she's pregnant, and that's her actual belly. Yeah. Ooh. If you swallow that, we're gonna get a Zaddy comment.
The more that I chew, the worse it gets. I mean, it's just like- The better it gets. It's not repulsive. It lasts. ... it's just unnatural. I think I'm gonna eat some while you're doing that. It's like something that should f. Mm. ... should fuel a machine. It is a lot like a spent fuel rod. Hm. Hm. Ugh. But you're doing it. You're doing it. I mean, I've done worse. I can't say that I like it. All right. But w- where- But I wouldn't like to hear the comment ... where's this.
comment, "Link looking fine ASF in this ep. Dang, Zaddy." @mfdinak. Okay. Nice eyebrows. I mean, it makes you feel good, right? Makes you feel good. Well, one eyebrow. I, I mean, listen, I feel like we're making all kinds of progress. Ugh. That one didn't stick, man. I, I do think that the egg might have opened a container of openness. to my future being not shut. Okay. But not this, man. So I gotta say that I, it's officially icky.
Okay. All right. Well, I ain't gonna stop trying. We wrote a children's book, Spaghetti Head and Chicken Fingers. It's right here, I think. It's, it's actually very fitting that we're talking about it on this episode, because-. Uh-huh ... this is all about picky eating. It's for the picky eater in your life- Mm-hmm ... whether that's a child or an adult. Yeah, it usually should be a child It also, it just, if, if you just wanna read a fun, silly book, it's also good for that as well. Uh, but it centers around, um, eh, some picky eating children and some things.
that could... And there's, yeah, you opened, you opened to, like, the, y-. just the, the page that's just the stars. Oh. Yeah, yeah. We actually, there's actually, there's more. There's the whole story inside there. There's a whole story inside. Yeah, yeah. Don't reveal too much, Link. Okay. Don't reveal too much. Now, listen, you can support independent bookstores and pre-order. your copy from any of our bookstore partners over at MythicalBooks.com. You can see every place that you can get the book at your preferred bookstore. Picky eaters unite.
All right, Link, we're moving right along. Again, something- I think the licorice gave me a bit of a headache. I don't know if it's the stress of this episode or what it is. Ah, no. But I- I don't believe that. And bad breath. I don't believe that. Got nothing good out of that experience. All right. Open wide, Link. Again. I'm gonna like this. You're gonna love this. It just has something that you might not like with it. What do I like? Cottage cheese. Cottage cheese. Oh, yeah. You love cottage. Yeah, yeah. See, how come you gotta be told what you like?
It's all in your brain, I'm telling you, man. But cottage cheese could be, it feels like anything. I know. It's just like you gotta ... Come on, just let your mouth do. the, do the leading, you know? Just like... I taste a little bit of grape. Oh, yes, yes, yes. Grape job, sport. He said, "Grape job." I think he did make a pun. He did. He said, "Grape job." Mm. I love cottage cheese. It is such a good, uh, I will say the best cheese.
And there was something a little fruity in there. There was a little bit of fruit. Little bit of fruit. There's not many fruits I don't like. Not many fruits. Okay. Huh. Well, what I want you to imagine right now is that you're getting to take that trip to. Iceland that you've always wanted to take. Yeah. To see all the geothermal activity. Oh, yeah. And you go up to just a field of volcanic rock. Okay. And then you notice all these Icelandic people are walking around, and they're. reaching down, and they're ... Oh, they're, they're licking on this, this rock.
And they're like, "This is wonderful." And they're saying it in their Icelandic. accent, which I don't know, even though I am a somewhat a fan of Bjork. She, she's licking on a rock. And, uh- Licking on a rock ... and then they're kinda, and they're chipping at it a. little bit, and it's a little bit, oh, salty and earthy and, because it's salty earth. And they're like, "This is great. And it has a little bit of fruit, too. Like, did somebody spill some grapes here? Ah, some salty grapes. Yeah, that's exactly what it might be." What? Yeah. And you're like, "I'm. just gonna, I'm gonna just embrace it. I'm here. I'm here for the culture." Yeah. Yeah. I'm gonna lick the rock, man. Yeah. Right.
And here it is. Yeah. Coming in your mouth. Isn't it? Yeah, yeah. And then you just take, you take a bite, you take a bite, you take. a bite, you take a bite, you take. Yes, yes, you do. You're Icelandic in this moment. Oh. Yeah, you are. Yes. It's crunchy and salty. Yeah. Uh-huh, and you love it. Oh, it's pungent. Uh-huh. It's oily. Uh-huh. Ugh. But, hey, it's a cultural experience. It's okay. It's like a, it's li- it's like- Mm. Nom, nom, nom.
Not bad. Not bad is what we're getting? This one is almost the most direct of anything that you've had so far. Not bad. I like oil. I like bread. And it's like ... Oh, it's olive to- ... Is it like tapenade? Reveal. Yeah, you had tapenade. There's my brave, strong boy eating olives. Oh. I knew you could do it. Yes, you just had b- you had black olive tapenade, which is basically just olives.
I mean, that's basically all it is, man. Yeah, but what else is it? Oil. Yeah, but it's olive oil from the olive. That's just in these already. Link, now, I would like you to face your arch nemesis. I would like you to face one solitary black olive. They're so good. Um- I could eat 100 of them ... I will still accept bribes. Okay. Well- It doesn't have to be pregnancy related Yeah, actually it does, because if you eat one olive, I'm gonna show you pregnant friends.
Oh, two g- two girls, two babies? Two girls, two babies, and also. If- All I said was that I like to poke pregnant women ... Hey, yo, hey, listen, I'm just trying to ap- appeal to your sensibilities here, okay? You don't, don't shoot the messenger. Also, if you take a bite of this, next time I promise to come see. you DJ, I'll actually show up. So just, just, just take one.
You can do it. They're so ... I, I don't ... They're so good. I'm surprised- It might be my favorite food ... at what I did here. And does oil come out of it when you eat it? Well, mm-hmm. I love you, son. Now eat the olives. Alright, Dad. Mm-hmm. Yep. Mm. I don't hate... I like salt. Yeah, salt. Mm-hmm.
Look at them, enjoying life. They might be Icelandic, actually. Everything is synced up. Her stripes are stretched more than hers. It's a, just a different stripe. Oh, okay. Different stripe. It's a salty fruit pod. Yeah. Fru- it's fruity. Yeah. It's the fruit. But salty. Olive you. Get it? Olive you. Olive you. Salt is not a bad taste.
Yeah. Grape is not a bad texture. It's a salty grape. You're, you're seeing it now. You could be a tapenade guy. And it's not, it doesn't have the pungency of, um ... I thought. there was this pungency to it. Where is that? It's a black olive, man. I don't know. It's mild. Black olive is different than a green olive. A green olive is the pungency? More so, yeah. Okay, well. He's saving all the pictures, by the way. No, I'm not.
I'm just- I'm putting them in the trash can. He's saying that. He doesn't want them. I'm putting them in the trash can. He's sa- he's saving them. I have a trash can down here. Well, I guess I'm gonna see you at your next DJ gig. Yeah, that's right, because I ... You know what? I'm no longer picky. Hey, hey, hey. All right. Yeah. I love you. Yeah. What, he's being facetious about it now? He sounds, he sounds like he's giving up. Like it was a joke all along. Okay. For this final challenge, or you know what?
Final new horizon. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Um, I've got something that you love, and also I'm doing the. thing that's kind of your thing. Okay. But it's okay because- All right ... you, you're blindfolded right now. All right, so we're talking about cereal here. And, uh, let me see. I've got to- Add a little something that I don't like to the cereal. Yeah, okay, so just a little bit. Just a little bit. Okay, maybe- Uh ... just a little bit more. Just a little bit more. It sounds flaky. Okay. All right. Take a bite.
You love this. You love this. Mm. Mm-hmm, yeah? Yeah. Raisin Nut Bran Crunch. Anything unusual? Raisin Bran Crunch. There's a little, there's a little something unusual in there, but not, not too much. I mean, it could be an insect. Okay. I wouldn't know. It's not. So crunchy. I don't think. There's something aromatic. I can taste, in my mouth, I'm only getting cereal, but in my nose I'm. getting something I don't like. Or something that's just different. Let's not judge it yet.
It's just something that wasn't- I'm getting something off. Okay, just something that's different. Let's just say off of your expectation list. Okay. Let's just reframe. We're gonna continue to reframe. Oh, all right. All right, all right. Now what I want you to do is I want you to imagine that you are back in Ireland. You remember you went there, you had a great time. I did go there. Um- I'd like to have a few Guinness before we go further. Okay, well- That would help. I do not have any of those. But what- Split the G a bit.
Let's just say what happened was is you decided to wander off by yourself one day. Okay. And you saw, yes, little stereotype, but I can do it because I'm Irish, a leprechaun. And you followed him deep into the woods. Um, yeah, the whole rainbow thing. Sure, maybe you followed him to the end of the rainbow. Okay. Anyway, you get there and you find his pot of gold, and you see that his pot. of gold is not just gold, but it is some wonderful, almost unidentifiable.
golden food that looks incredible. And all these other people who have wandered out to the pot of gold that night. are eating it and enjoying it and feeling very sophisticated at the same time. Golden food of sophistication. And he's serving it to you with pasta. Okay. 'Cause he's part Italian. Ah. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yes. Yes.
Yes, you love this. Yum, yum, yummy. It's slimy. Uhhuh. Yeah, but that's, it's ... Maybe it's smooth. Oh. Maybe it's just smooth. Keep up the good work. Oh, it's burning. Okay. Okay, he's hav- he's having more trouble with this one, which I didn't, you know, which I di- okay, he's spitting it out. Okay.
Well, that's good because I'm all out of pictures of pregnant ladies. Ugh. Uh. Oh, what is that, dude? It's so bad. It's uni. Ugh, ugh. So there it is by itself, Link. I don't know if we're gonna get there, but like I said, I've, uh, I only- Ugh ... brought three pictures- Ugh ... of pregnant ladies. Damn, good luck with that. I ain't eating them. Oh my God. Okay. Are you, are you throwing in the towel? Ugh. I mean, I, it, it kinda, I kinda- You got no, no bribes, no nothing? Oh my God, there's so much of it.
Yeah, but I gave you a little bit of it, but now, I mean, trying to eat it. straight, I mean, the bribes are for b- Ugh ... this, this s- straight stuff. It di- ugh, it didn't even taste like seafood or the ocean. It tasted like, I mean, it s- it, like some alien was trying to impregnate me. Via the mouth? Yeah. Yeah, yeah. I mean, they don't know how we do it. Okay. Right, you're right. Well, I was gonna let you pee in my yard, but, uh, if, if you don't, if you don't take a bite, you're never gonna get to e- enjoy that. Yeah.
I'm trying not to do that ever since my daughter caught me. Officially icky. Yep, it is officially icky when your daughter catches you peeing outside. 'Cause I was ... Yeah, I had to, like, turn quickly. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, and then it's like- Maybe we can talk about that in the More? Oh, yeah, let's talk about that in the More. Oh, I've been so traumatized. Hey, li- listen, I know this didn't end on a good note, but I think that we. made some serious progress with olives. I can't believe I ate it in cereal. Olives and licorice, and even egg yolk.
I think we m- we did- Yeah ... make progress in those other three areas. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So one baby step at a time. Thanks for coming. Look at you being such a big boy. You are finally the man I raised you to be. It sounded like he literally put quotes around raised. Thanks for commenting and sharing this video. You know what time it is. Hi, my name is Jessica. I'm graduating from Syracuse University with a degree in biochemistry. I'm standing in front of Link Hall, and it's time to spin the Wheel of Mythicality.
You didn't talk to me about this. I got a whole hall you can walk- You're donating to Syracuse University? And you can walk right down me. Uh, we've got some unsolicited advice.
