Blind Pizza Taste Test

How much has fast food pizza changed in seven years? Let's talk about that. Good Mythical Morning. When we did our first blind pizza chain test seven years ago, my friend. Seven years ago. We proved that we couldn't tell the taste of a specific pizza. restaurant from a hole in the ground. Hey, we were young and foolish, but now we are old and serious.

And we're coming for you pizza and we're gonna identify you so good. It is time for, Oops, I Bit It Again, chain restaurant pizza taste test, volume two. Okay boys. Today you'll be tasting chain restaurant pizza from, in no particular order, Pizza. Hut, Dominoes, Little Caesar's, Papa John's, California Pizza Kitchen, and. Sbarro, all served via the still patent pending Mr. and Mrs. Pizza Rat Paddles.

Yeah. Okay, I remember pizza rat. Yeah, highly relevant, uh, today and as you alluded to, you don't. have a great track record with this. Last time, Rhett guessed two correctly, Link guessed one correctly. Oh really? This time the winner will receive a pizza chain necklace. Oh. And this is one where we get to see how much we like them compared. to how we liked them in the past. 'cause we did rate them last time. Yes. Yes. As you can see, I can't, can you?

Yes. I cannot either. Okay, good. Okay, let's bring in the first pizza. They are, oh, oh, oh. I, I think I smell green peppers. Mm-hmm. Hmm. Huh? Are these supreme? Are these supreme? No. Meat lovers. I hope there's no olives.

There's something that's burning in my mouth. Hmm. What is that? A sausage? Boy, that is a thin crust. That's a thin one. That's a shallow pizza. Little floppy, maybe floppier than I want it to be, but I like the, I. can, I have, can I have it again? Um, I have been told we have a, uh, a number of common toppings. that appear on every slice. So you do have some, some sausage, some you have some supreme. like toppings, we'll just say.

But nothing I'm scared of. I'm just sc I'm, I'm scared that I'm gonna eat an olive. I believe this pizza is pretty good. I'm gonna, I'm gonna. I believe it's okay. On a scale of one to 10, let's do that. I don't know, I think pizza can get better. I think pizza could get significantly worse as well. That's, I don't know. I'm, I'm feeling like a six for that pizza. I'm, I'm torn between a six and a seven. I'll give a, I'm definitely. I'll, I'll give a seven so somebody can, uh.

Uhuh. Uhuh. Nope. I wasn't wowed by it, but where's it from? Uh, gimme a second. See now that I'm, I got this. It's thin. This facial hair, I can rub it to think. Hmm. Is that. I've been doing that for years, my friend. That's your secret? Mm-hmm. Okay, um. Crap man, I just don't know. All right. Oh God, it's between one or there's two different ones, but.

Three. Okay. Two. One. Dominos. C-P-K. C-P-K? You think that came from a sit down restaurant? Well, it's pizza. It's too, it's so thin. I almost said Sbarro 'cause it was so like New York style. More pizza, please. Did you say pizza. More pizza please? Because don't. Yeah, wow. Here you go. Hmm.

I gotta do a little topping slur. Okay. See, that's more typical pizza, bro. Yeah, it is. Bro, call me bro, back when I call you, bro. Okay, bro. So we can double bro. Bro or bra. Not bra, bro. I, I, I did, I've never started doing that. Bro. Yeah, me neither. No, bro. People, I, I made a decision that I'm not going to, I'm not joining the bro train. You're not joining the bro train? Nope. Well, that's already left the station. Exactly. And I'm on it by myself.

Bro. I liked this one. I'm gonna go all the way to, screw it, I'm gonna go to a nine. Can you tell me what you liked about it? Because I don't agree. I liked the sweetness. I liked the sausage. Very sausage forward. I like the sausage on the first one significantly more. But it's so much better than the first one. I wanna go back and give the first one a lower score. Well, you can't, but. But where is it from?

Because think about the big four. So what number are you giving it? Five. Five? Yeah. I don't like it that much. I like the first one better. Where's your face right now? 'cause you sound muffled. I am, um, I'm talking directly into my hands. Why are you doing that? So you don't embarrass yourself. Uh. Okay. Uh, hold on. What am I thinking about? What are, okay, 'cause there's. I think we gotta have a number. Little Caesars. I think Stevie, we gotta count in. The man is just taking way too long.

I already gave a number. What is, what's wrong with you? I mean, the countdown. Um, the three, the two and the one. Well, hold on. No. 'cause what is the other place? I'm trying to remember 'cause you've got Pizza Hut, Dominos. Think we're at time. You've got Papa John's is not one of 'em. Pretty sure we're at time, Papa John's. No, it is, it is. He is one of them. Okay. 3, 2, 1. Papa John's. Papa John's. Dang it. You see. We should have gone to the count. You know what, we had a recent conversation with somebody about. how they don't like Papa John's. And I think I'm now becoming that person who doesn't like Papa John's.

Well, I have something to share, but I'm gonna save it for now. I still have something to share, but I'm still not quite ready to share it. I'm gonna eat this pizza first. Could I do anything to coax you? Mm-mm. Bro. Eat the Pizza. Oh. That's some thicker pizza. I mean taller, not deep dish. Tastes frozen. It does taste frozen.

I feel like my palette has been refined in seven years. I just, I discovered so many great pizza places in Los Angeles that are not the. chains that I've become a pizza elitist. I'm sorry to say. So you're saying you don't like this one either, 'cause. I'm giving this one a four. The, the, the bread tasted weird. I'm giving this one a. The crust. It has a off taste to it. Yeah, it is off, um, off the rocker.

I didn't love it either. I'm also gonna give it a four. Hmm. 3, 2, 1. And I'm gonna share something. Oh. I have something to share. Oh. Uh, I told Christy, I think we're both realizing the same thing, but my. realization, and it was, it broke her heart. I was like, I don't think I like pizza anymore. No. What? How could you. What? How could you not like pizza anymore? I know I actually said the love of my life loves pizza, it's her number one.

thing and I, it was so hard for me to tell her, but I just, I trusted that. our relationship could push through it. What about it? It has so far, but I'm just like, I'm over pizza. But what about it? Everything like, it's just nothing here is wowing me. You just gave Papa John's a nine. There's some. Yes, I did. And Exactly, exactly. I'm over pizza. It's too much at once and it's. Too much what at once? The stuff.

Bread, cheese. All of the things. Sauce and meat. My top four favorite things. I'm ready. I'm sorry. Aren't you the one that took all the toppings? Yes. And the cheese off of the. He's done it. Okay. I was trying to find a way to still like pizza. How can you, maybe it's because you don't like cheese that much. If you are a cheese lover, your wife's a cheese lover. I'm a cheese lover. Yeah. I love cheese pizza. I wanted to have it all. 3, 2, 1. Pizza Hut. Little Caesars. Little Caesars ain't that thick, is it?

I don't know, I haven't been. Lately. You've changed, man. I know, I I. Not liking pizza anymore. I never loved pizza. Hold on. I, I, I guess what I'm saying is, it's not that I hate pizza. But I recently said on one of the final episodes of Ear Biscuits that if you. didn't like pizza, I didn't like you. These pizzas are just all running together. You know, I think I'm starting to realize something about myself.

I don't like pizza anymore. It's not great. I mean, it's, I've had so much of it. But there's so much good pizza, man. But really what I'm saying is, I could go the rest of my life without pizza. No, you couldn't. Yes, I could. Uh, I love pizza, but this pizza is not doing it for me. I'm gonna give this a five as well. I'm gonna give it a. I'm gonna give it a five. Where is it? Are you ready? Yeah. Uh. 3, 2, 1. Domino's.

I'm under, bro. Okay, stude. Yeah, stude. You can call me stude. Stude. Oh, right there? Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

Hmm. The familiar taste of disappointment. This is a little bit better. I think we're back at a six. I didn't get any meat on mine. Did you get any meat? I did, I also got oregano, I believe. I like the. That's weird. I like, um, there was something to like about that one. Um, I got nothing. I, I just got nothing to like, I'm giving it a two.

My, the pointed peace of mind didn't have anything re redemptive about. You're giving it a two. Yeah, it was, it, I'm just telling you that I didn't like it. Uh, this is a great pizza. It's a good pizza. I don't think my strategy of trying to remember what I have guessed I'm. ready isn't gonna impact anything. I'm ready. Three, two, one. CPK. CPK. Oh. Now I know I was wrong about round one and I think I know what it was.

Hmm. This is the last one? Yeah. Okay. Huh? Oh. I think you just witnessed the last time. No. That I'll ever eat pizza. Don't say it. Hmm. Can I have that again? I like this one. This one's good, man. That's a good pizza. It's a good pizza. That is, it's good. The, give it to me again. I, I'll give it a nine too. I think it matched the other one.

And I remember something from seven years ago, I think I know. is something that epiphanized as a result of our exercise. Do you remember that? I'm so confused about. That we learned something. This round and round one. Mm-hmm. Because round one was thin and felt very New Yorky. It was better. And I liked it. Than I now realize. I think it was.

I wanna, actually. You can't. I want to revise my round one score. I'm gonna give this one an eight. I like this, but I'm really, I'm not, I'm a lot confused. Okay. But I'm gonna say something. I don't know what I'm gonna say. I know. Alright. I think we should, I think we should do it. 3, 2, 1. Sbarro. Sbarro. So here we are. I know I like Sbarro. Agreeing. The thing that I remember is that.

You like Sbarro. Sbarro won and we were, we didn't realize that was happening last time. Close. Because I, I also had a little bit of that memory. Um, last time the winning pizza was Papa John's followed very closely by Sbarro. Huh? This time Sbarro far and away the winner, which means that you. both got that last one, correct? Yeah.

Which means Link, you got one correct. What. And Rhett. Which is what you got last time. You got three correct. Whoa. Improved. Look at me. And look at what you're able to do. I don't want. Wear that. I don't want it to hit my Essentials Tee. And here's the thing, you kept questioning your round one, but. that's the first one you got right? The first one was CPK. It was, yeah, yeah, yeah. And CPK is actually good pizza. It's thin and it's good. We've gotten too bougie.

That you really hated, kind of makes sense, it's Little Caesar's. Yeah. Uhhuh. Pizza, pizza. Yeah. I think I'm gonna keep eating pizza though. 'cause I got to just to, just to give a reason to wear this chain. I'm pretty sore about it and I'm over it. Take that, pizza. Thanks for commenting and sharing this video. You know what type it is?
