And it's I feel like it's almost good to. be able, you know what I'm saying, to. show someone cuz you can hear it all the. time, "You toxic.". I ain't toxic. But, to see something.

particular situation that they were in. They skip over that and just want to. talk about what happened to them. And. it's it's no accountability at all. And. that's my biggest thing. If you can't. take accountability or you don't know. what that is, I can't I can't deal with. you. >> Right. And don't don't Look, what you. This is what you made me do. No, you did. that. I didn't make you I didn't I. didn't make you do that cuz you had. choices. >> You did that. >> And if I'm if I'm wrong at you I'm like. you, Mo. If I'm wrong, I'm man enough to. say I'm wrong. And I'm writing all these different. material and and and ideas and stuff. like that. So, I just you know, honestly. with that situation, I just I don't I. don't. where they were putting us all together. and I never really got the full details. of what it was exactly we were supposed. to be doing. And I remember the guy that I was. talking to that was booking for it, we. you know, we were going back and forth. He was like, "Hey, we'll have a contract. ready for you Tuesday." And then Tuesday. came and I didn't hear nothing. So, Wednesday came. Now, I needed this money. at the time. >> Mhm. They were talking about I think it was. about $7,500. I needed that. >> Yeah. You know what I'm saying? So, I I. called again. I'm like, "What's going on. with the 75? Y'all got the contract?".

And he was like, "Man. we did a. we did a social media, you know, swipe. Yeah. And we came across some tweets. from 2013. that uh. Man, THAT WAS 12 THAT was 11 12 years. ago. >> I wasn't a comedian at that point. >> Right. So, I They was like, you know, it. They said it's a tweets were potentially. homophobic, but they weren't homophobic. It was What happened was it was a dude. on Twitter was it was It used to be this. this app that used to have back way back.

then around that time 2011 2012 and it. was an app called Ask me and people. could ask you questions. anonymously. You wouldn't know who who. it was. >> it was a it was a it was a. a homosexual guy asked me a question and. I was like, "I'm not I'm not with that.". Right. And maybe the way I worded it. wasn't you know, wasn't politically. correct, but I didn't say anything like. bad about.

She didn't give you nothing. But, it's okay. I didn't want nothing. You. know what? The fact that I was able to. help her get something, you know what. I'm saying? It was okay. do?" He was like, "It hit." And after. that every time I seen him, he was doing. that. So, he not he not one of them. dudes that. >> I'm up here and then somebody Yeah, you. can't tell me, bro. I ain't going to say that that was the. exact moment. Um but. uh you know, my brother and his wife. they used to always be you know, have me.

come over to the house and I was. promoting parties at first. >> Okay. >> So, I used to throw these. >> Party promoter. >> Man. Them were the days. I was I was getting. ripped off by them club owners. But man, we used to throw parties, man. And uh. you know, after the parties always be. something and I would go to my brother's. house and I'll be talking to him and his. wife and and I'm telling them you know, what happened at the party and they'll. be cracking up laughing. They'd be like, "Man, you need to do comedy.". And I'm like I stand up? They like, "Yeah." I'm like, "I don't know if I. could do that." So, um.

my sister passed away in 2013. >> Sorry to hear that. >> Yeah. And before she passed, she just I. remember that it was she they had gave. her like she was on hospice. They gave. her like 2 days to live. And uh my. sister smoked weed. And she smoked weed. to the last day she was here. [laughter]. I remember I went to go see her, man. She was in a bathtub taking a bath. That. was the only thing used to make her feel. better was her weed and her bathtub. And. she had cancer like all throughout her. body. >> Mhm. And uh I remember she was in the.

bathtub and and she had a blunt. And she. was in and out and the blunt had fell in. the tub. Mhm. >> And I walked in the bathroom and I. reached in the tub and I grabbed her. blunt. And she woke up and she looked at. me. And uh she was like um. she like you think she was like, "Brother." I said, "What?" She was like. "You think I'mma die?". And then it was in that moment like I'm. looking at her and I'm like. I'm like, "No. Like you going to be all. right.". >> No, she was like, "No.".

She was like, "But promise me this. Promise me. that you going to do something.". Mhm. And I remember that I I I remember. try to hand her a blunt. She wasn't. strong enough to lift her hand up. She. said, "Just put it in my mouth.". And I put the blunt in her mouth. And I walked out and I remember I went. and sat on the front porch of the. building that that [clears throat] she. was living in. My parents owned the. building in Chicago that she was having. her hospice care there. And I sat on the porch and I and.

I had to. I I kept replaying the conversation like. you just got to do something. And she passed away the next day. Mhm. And 4 months later I had started. doing comedy and I never And that was. your younger sister or your. >> No. No. That was my older sister. So, she was 32 years old at the time. >> Damn. And I mean Shannon, she was a. warrior. My sister had been shot. Mhm. You know. what I'm saying? She had been shot. several times. A few times she had been. shot. And.

she had cancer she had cancer for so. long like we we didn't even Right. >> We didn't even like she was You can't. she come on tell you she go I got. cancer. You like, "You you've been dealing with it for a. >> You good. You good." My brother used to. take her to her appointments and you. know Mhm. what had what it end up. happening was the cancer had they had. got control of it. >> Mhm. And she was in this abusive relationship. with this guy. And the dude shot her. Mhm. And [clears throat] when she went.

to the hospital to um. they had to do like an emergency surgery. on her. And when they cut her open to do it, you. know, when that air hit the cancer it. spread. Wow. So. trying to save her life from that so she. wouldn't have to use the bathroom. through a bag for the rest of her life. She ended up having the surgery and um. Yeah, that was it. Like. after that you know, it went downhill. pretty you know, pretty fast. But. it was just. that was like the moment there where I.

was like, "I got to do something.". >> Right. And I and that was that was it. She she was she was like the last thing. to push me over like, "Hey. Let me go. try this.". Do you remember what it was like the. first time you got on stage? Yeah. Yeah. It was four people there. Huh? It. was four people there. >> Did you know that it would like was it. open mic or something? >> No, it was like we had put our own. showcase on. It was four people there. and it was my it was my mom, my cousins. and.

it was two other people there that I. didn't know and I remember going on. stage and I'm trying to tell these. stories but it wasn't like a real good. it wasn't like a real good, you know, body of work for me to go out, you know, for me to go off of, you know, to say. like, "Okay, this is going to be the. year." But the night that I bombed. cuz I end up bombing. maybe a few. a few years later, like once I was. really getting into it and my social. media followers are going up, I end up. bombing real bad and uh. they didn't boo me but they it was.

quiet. Mhm. And I remember I'm on stage and I got. this suit on and before I went on stage. it was it was a host that dude named. from Chicago named comedian Stick and he. brought me up and he was talking about. my suit saying I was just like Tevin. Campbell and and I mean he went in on me. and then he goes up. he goes up, he does his time and brings. me up. So I go out there and the suit. was tight like how you be wearing yours. >> [laughter]. >> and somebody yelled out somebody yelled. out like, "Man, ain't nobody trying to.

listen to you with that tight ass suit. on." And I started clapping back at the. crowd. >> Right. And I mean they were I mean it. was like 300 people there and they I. mean they dying laughing and then I went. to them jokes that I thought I had and. they was like it was just start getting. quiet and you know they got this thing. when you on stage you doing comedy, when. your time is up they'll flash a light at. you. >> Right. I and at this time I didn't have. know that etiquette. So I'm like, "Why. is they flashing this light at me?" And. somebody yelled out, "That mean cuz it's. time for you to get your ass off the. stage.". And I was so hurt and I was like, "Man,

here take take the microphone." So I. went and I sat down and I had to listen. to every single comedian go up after me. talk about how I had just bombed and I. sat there and I watched it and I. remember sitting there saying, "I don't. never want to feel like this again.". Mhm. So when I left I got in the car the. girl I was talking to at the time, this. when I knew I really bombed cuz as we. was driving I was quiet and I remember I. remember girl looking over at me and I. look over there she was like, "You okay?". >> [laughter].

>> "You okay?" If if you get off stage and. somebody ask if you okay, you know what. just happened. >> Yeah. >> And she asked me if I was okay and and I. was like, "I will be.". You should have said, "Babe, how you. think I did?" No, I wouldn't ask that. >> [laughter]. >> I know I'm a very self-aware person. >> you but you know but you know how you. had done. >> I know it. I know it. You do a lot of crowd work. Are you are. you ever worried about somebody because. you get on people hey you told the one. joke like I I know that's ain't your. lady. Okay. So. you know, when I'm in those. interactions, I'm able to read when it's. like, "Okay, he ain't feeling this. and this may go left." And I know how to. go I know how to I know. >> know how to leave it alone. >> Yeah. Cuz you know what the dude looking. at sitting there looking like, "All. right all right." No, I mean bro, I. didn't I didn't had a dude stand up.

before and was like, "I'll come up. there." That happened recently. He like, "I'll come up there." I said, "Well, come on.". You going to what what Eddie Murphy say? What's the craziest thing that happened. to you at a show? Um. craziest thing that happened to me at a. show. a lady a lady kissed me. on my mouth. You put a little tongue in her? here been trying to talk to him all. night long. He been turning them down. You know what I'm saying? He been. turning them down. So I feel like when. he get home you should go on here Do. what you supposed to Do what you. supposed to do. You know what I'm. saying? So it just depends on how it go. I mean you get on the phone, you know, at that point that's when the improv and. that's when you your comedic timing got. to tap in and you got to make it funny. because you can for call sometimes and. they might not answer. or you might call sometimes and they. might really be mad and you got to know. how to you know, control. >> in concert at the comedy show with it? Yeah.

You don't like comedy? You don't like. me? Yeah, I had one dude at the show one. time with his lady. He came by himself. his lady wasn't there. I was like, "Where she at?" He like, "She back at. home at her father's funeral." I'm like, "Well, why you ain't there?" He like, "I. wanted to come see you.". Damn. You might not be in no relationship when. you get back home. That's what I told. him. I said, "Her father died you supposed to. be there." He said, "Nah.". He like, "I don't know when you coming. back.". I said, "Well, I guess you know he ain't. coming back.". >> [laughter].

>> Now Mo is like because you guys have. social media you get an opportunity to. attract the audience a lot sooner. because and some maybe maybe this is. kind of why some of the OGs are kind of. like a resentful of you guys because. they had to go the Chitlin Circuit they. had to go little club little club little. club for years and years and years in. order to build up a following. >> Absolutely. >> You guys can do a skit or you can do. something funny kind of like what you do. what Desi Banks does what Druski does.

and build up get a million followers in. little to no time. and you got you got a following where. they had to they had to work to build. that following and maybe some that's. what brings some of the resentment. towards you guys. >> You know what, man? It's so I feel like this I feel like. this whole thing is so dumb. Yeah. Right? Because it's like. yeah, they had to go from this comedy. club to that comedy club this comedy.

club that comedy club and and nobody. knocking it. That's real work. You had. to be seen. You had to be chosen. >> Yes. Well, we living in the era now where we. you don't got to be chosen. And. right after that every single one of. those comedians that I seen having that. conversation about that one comedian, I've all seen them. at some point. with that [clears throat] one comedian. You know what I'm saying? So it's just. like bro, at the end of the at the end.

of the day, bro. people be hating. They do. But you know. what? They only hate when you're. successful. And I'm going to. >> doing bad, ain't nobody hating. >> Ain't nobody got nothing to say. some shows, I came back and we it was a. scene in the show where I sit on a. statue and I improved the whole scene. and it was a new scene for me. It was it. was actually supposed to be Joe you. know, Marie's scene. And I remember. after we finished the scene, Tyler. grabbed me and said, "Let me talk to you. for a second." And he was like, "Hey, how much how much you getting paid?". And I told him. And he was like, "I'm going to bump that up.". And he kept his word. Wow. I made some I made some good money.
